"Rows into the crowd and then maybe his best moment here. Let's show you one more. This is the windmill slam off of Clemson. Let's go. Angry, this is the best about is just a nonchalant casual. Three sixteen windows plan like in transition goes. Just casual, or you can see rj Barrett in the background there like sort of as excited as anybody as I. Maybe you'll see it on. This angle is just unbelievable all right so happy. Birthday Zion Williamson again twenty years young today, and and we all look forward to seeing him. Come back and that picture of him. That sort of circulated on social media this past weekend. He looks ripped and again there was that special rule. He was able to work at it the facility all this time during the pandemic, so he for from all accounts is an extraordinary shape to this point Jay. Would you say Zion has been better or worse than you.

"Burns Espn I. Feel like we're in a better mood now. Though Katie than we were earlier in the show, remember we were. We were upset at each other. When the big poll question came out about there was a lot of vitriol here, especially in the commercial. Commercial break where I thought Anthony was going to go over to Roy's house and I thought they were going to be words. about who should be on our poll. antics get an update real. Quick on our poll results here on the Dan Le Batard show. Just give me a quick update. As we said there were four birthdays today that were extremely important here on July, the six and so I'm trying to figure out what are the poll results and where we add here. That I. Ask the wrong person. Should I not ask Anthony on this? Chris. Was this your dose, billy? Is this your stick? Who Stick is the? Instant poll question. Billy's, it's. As you were pro filibustering, I had brought up. All of the poll results so I can do that for you now that you perfectly segue into it, so they told who will have the bigger legacy in twenty years. Right now we are still sitting with Dianne Williamson at thirty two percent, sly stallone, thirty percent forrest, gump twenty six and Kevin Hart, Twelve okay although Kenny Smith, who was on earlier today, said it was going to be. It was going to be Kevin Hart. That was going to be number one I still I things. I feel like this is a fateful poll I feel like this is a fake news poll that Zion, even though he's lost twenty pounds. Put on, all the muscle looks absolutely rip K. G. I just don't know if that's going to be the biggest legacy in twenty years out of all those guys what he'll be forty. He turned twenty today. Also, he'll be forty years old, and possibly probably out of the League by. I don't know I. Just think when people look. At this poll, you didn't preface it or put in parentheses why this is the group like you didn't say hey in this bowl. Who Have the bigger legacy in twenty years? They're all. It's all their birthday today, so Kenny Smith. I don't understand why stallone and Kevin Hart. Reading the tweet like you've got time like Kenny Kenny Smith was like trying to figure it out on the absolute fly why we're asking all these four random nays, but when you see the tweet in its own, you're going to think. All Right which one of these four have a bigger legacy in twenty years now when I look at this tweet, I'd be sitting here for thirty minutes saying well. What are the four of these men have in common? Why are they in a tweet? Why are we talking about their legacies? That summarizes the.

"The dannettes and we got more on the Washington redskins name controversy. We got colic cap but Doug I real quick you ready to feel old. Sure ready to feel old. Huey Lewis turned seventy yesterday. Huey Lewis is seventy years old. I think Zion Williamson. Being twenty years old gives me the today by the way happy birthday design Williamson and wait to see you play here end of the month. In in Orlando in the bubble, which I know, you're a convert to the your bubble convert but Yeah! Lewis a seventy I I honestly I actually believe. He Lewis Seventy. That doesn't that doesn't surprise me. It is hip to be square though. If he's still wearing the sunglasses and the black T. shirt and the jeans you. Still Rolling Seventy years old. The, latest on the Washington redskins name, controversy hit US early this morning as to minority owners in the Washington redskins football team who own up to forty percent of the team now are interested in selling stakes in the franchise joining us now on the Hotline Fox. Sports one NFL insider. You been hearing them here with us for a long time and second time I got to talk to him during the day in the past week or so. It's Adam. Kaplan. Talk about on Sirius Xm as well. Good Morning I of what's happening. Guys good to talk to you. Yeah, the The redskins situation. What's going to happen with the name and with the owner the minority ownership? Certainly interesting that it's taking another turn, but When you look at it around League I, the big thing is going to be the name and getting that changed. As soon as possible, and you see all these sponsors, or who who are starting to pull out. that that is why this is GonNa be expedited. Has Been the works. They've been talked for a couple of weeks to League has Doug to to to kind of look that but. What once. Once you look at sponsorship when Nike goes on record. And saying they're not going to sell the merchandise. You're you're going to have to. You'RE GONNA. Have to take note. Because if you go back several years ago, there's actually seven years ago when Daniel Snyder. And the controversy came up with the team name. Daniel seiders defined. He said he would never change it and he said to to the USA Today. You can put that in caps and put it in print, so he's been defiant, but there were no threats really that came out in terms of of the name change, and now you have it seven years later. Things obviously have.

"Mean. He looks like Anthony. Mason out there greeny. That's a strength that he has. It just shows you the difference between Williamson and a lot of the players in the league. He's built exactly like Anthony Mason, but he has the athleticism of a guard. It is remarkable. Meanwhile here was his NBA debut, January twenty second racing all doubts scoring seventeen consecutive points in the fourth quarter, including knocking down threes, J. Will. That night was magic. Bringing in, he showed his ability to shoot from the outside, and that's always been the biggest question around I on his touch and his forum on that set shot, but if he's making shots like that, you can forget about this guy that can average over twenty points, and over fifteen rebounds every single night, and it probably shoot over sixty percent from the field I, will disagree with you slightly because to me. The biggest question about him has actually been about his. His ability to stay healthy, and so the most important part about that moment we just showed you was that it was his NBA debut and the little date, and the top right of your screen, said January twenty second, the question Jay will is what are we going to see from Zion over the next month? If he comes back, the Pelicans have a lot to play for if they decide to make this important. What do you expect to see from Zion? Zion, the bees I on a look. This kid is different, and I also expect David Griffin. Who is the GM and also Alvin? Gentry the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans to monitor his minutes to a degree. The this is going to be a series of simple flows Zion, and it's going to be this way until he's able to sustain being healthy for a long period of time. Greenie, it has to be in the back of your mind. You're always going to be conscious of. Of the minute said he's playing especially when you play eight games and fifteen days now you're gonNA. Make a push for the playoffs, but you still have to monitor that so some games he might play over forty minutes depending upon how good he builds in a game. If a back to back, you might have to give him a little bit rest considering that you might have a game a day later, so look I. Think you're take. Take your foot off the gas for a second. If you're out injury and then put your foot on the gas. You have to be willing to change it up. Shift Gears Ziya Williams, and all the time you know it's funny for all of us. WHO WATCHED LAST DANCE? We were all reminded of when this happened. With Michael I mean when Jordan came back from the foot, I've into the driver of the circumstances were different, but when Jordan came back from the foot, and they were limiting his minutes, and it made him crazy, but he managed to play those minutes, and he got this team his team then into the playoffs. "And. Kristin. It's awesome to have you back. I know last time we were talking a lot about child. Development and Development Ages Zero to two and I know. Your child is getting older How is your child growing impacted your thoughts and ideas? With with child development, and and how they're coming along. While it just confirms what I was saying at first. Any type of blue light or screen time is the number one enemy to children development, and what I mentioned. Is that what people don't understand? Is that these stimulus like your tablet, your cellphone smartphone? BIG-SCREEN TV all those types of devices emit blue light, which is one of the strongest dopamine receptors stimulator. It's so strong in fact that even in adult it can desensitize those receptors very easily. That's why it's addictive. Because when you stop doing it, you feel like crap. You feel depressed because you don't have the dopamine stimulation, the pleasure neurotransmitter that is strong enough to compensate for that going on, and how the Prom is that a child's brain. Is Not fully developed and much more fragile, and a stimulus is just way too strong for their brain to handle. You can actually permanently. Damage, the dopamine receptor, sensitivity and adult. If he becomes desensitized, you can do it what what's called a dopamine fast like you stop basically any type of dopaminergic like a YouGov, are kind of all phones and. Stuff like that. You Stop Smoking. You don't take drugs at similar dopamine and within ten days you can. Basically you regain your sensitivity charts. It's the damage. You're going to have a child with low motivation. IS PRONE TO DEPRESSION ONTO ZION? It's something you want. Also. There's a very strong connection between the efficiency of the dopamine system and learning especially motor learning the reason is that children learn by reward system? So for example your your child is on the floor on. His belly doesn't crawl yet. E C a few on the Florida. You wants to reach, and you will find a way to reach it, and when you reach at the dopaminergic response gives him a big pleasure. Response will motivate him to try again to learn new stuff so learning especially motor learning is driven by the motivation to get that dopaminergic a response, so if you desensitize dopaminergic receptors, motor, learning and learning period will impair like Jaden. When he was like He. He's like twenty one months old now or something like that When he was eighteen, he already knew all of his alphabet, so he knew all the letters. And you could actually spell his name at eighteen months. So that's a pretty good. E- knew something like. One hundred twenty five words and normally at eighteen. When we went to the doctor, they said nobody a child should learn at least three words by the time these months old. The actually wanted one. We went to the doctor for eighteen month checkup. The wanted to do a TV show with us because the is level of a of development adjusts like crazy, but that's when the code Kuban crisis happened, so we didn't do it. Again. I'm not saying that I'm smarter or is exceptional. It's just that the the lower dopaminergic over-stimulation and the fact that both my wife and I are mostly at home, so we can actually plan. Learning experiences sped up development now that led to some issue that we might need to resolve. Is that by over stimulating? We basically became the only source of his development and is. Slightly lacking in social conflict like when he's around, other people will just basically freeze, and it will take him up two or three minutes of. Is the situation to be somewhat comfortable then again. I'm like that so that might be genetic might not be my teaching thing that's. Always, learning frankly do better things, but I think the biggest thing is still. Diminish like balloon exposure as much as possible Apparent is a coach. That's the another child best friend you not is. Is Boss. You're a coach. You should approach like a coach. You should lamb experiences so that the child can learn and try different things, so that's the main thing, and then of course what I'm doing different now is that we are at an age where he needs to become more more autonomous more doing things. Bhai himself so now we find that the EU really loves tractors, so we can actually play with his tractors in San for eight hours straight, so that allows me to do a lot more job, but more work, but that's the next step at first as a coach you you give him as many different experiences to develop his motor skills is absurd skills. Is Memories stuff like that is coordination and more and more advances in needs to be able to do is on staff. Set the activities you wants to do and create is on game, so that's pretty much

"Today chatting to classrooms. He's the managing editor of the magazine, a new magazine that publishes poetry and articles by women in prison today. We're going to be chatting to her. About what life is like for women in Britain's prisons. How them into health is affected by being in prisons, and what life is like at the moment during the covert epidemic. So my interest is like mice, people, you know they're all mental health. Issues in my family have an aunt. WHO's diagnosed bipolar, so we sort of grew up with that. And then. I went to school with Ended up just in a lot of trouble with the criminal justice system and when she was released from. Last time she asked. If I would help and get involved with the which when I look at it I was just delighted to. Because it's really important, it's it's not just for women in prison for women who've got any contact with the criminal justice system, so they could be women on in the community all they could be The partners of men they could be NGOs or other people involved in the criminal justice system went lawyers. Judges actually subscribed to twos. Quite it's quite a broad abroad with limited reach. This is kind of broad question, but what is it is particularly about women how to how women specifically affected by being in the prison system coming out of the issues that they face specifically so I think when you look at. The. Number of women who all incarcerated who we send to present. You have mental health issues vomited vaguely report, but he are half ago and Init- initial justice admits that over eighty percent of women have mental health issues on those mental health issues not treated in women's Prisons Stats men's prisons. They're much lower and then women things. I and depression is compounded, because only one percent of children actually stay in the family home. If mother is sent to prison, I mean that's an alarming statistic, and we need to think about being Zion, if not knowing what's happening to your child in your home and everything. In a while you're in prison where it's remind is usually you know nine times out of ten, a mother, or assist O or upon who can pick up the pieces in the Gulf to the children, but for women very often. They don't have those networks especially when it comes to child care. And women have also leads upon leads of trauma an emotional abuse. Again enormous report that was commissioned by Theresa May. He says that over fifty percent of women. have been the victims of abuse. Emotional or sexual or domestic abuse? In their lives, and of course, imprisoning them white disc, compacting that trauma and adding Les- Upon it, and what about the mental? They received. We'll maybe don't receive. When are actually in prison will? What's really frightening? Is that judges put women in prison thinking that they will get mental health support because you know, there are these massive I mean really enormous mental health contracts over six hundred million pounds. A year is spent on health and mental health. They called the justice health contracts, so these are given to provide his including. National Health Service, foundation trust and private providers like. A and Really. Women just cannot access them they. For example at Drake Hotel which is the prison? In the Midlands is meant to be a fulltime psychologists in the time psychiatrist, I'm case paid to provide that service, but actually that has not been a full time. Psychiatrists death of a two years. They've just not been able to fill the role. And they'll get in training. US is or nasty to on. Day contracts who don't have any commitment to being in that position and that she looking off the the patient doodle is just it's just a job, so we are really concerned about mental health and women's specific health services like menopause connect like. A. Logical problems PAP, Smit's things like that and just not being done for him in prison

How a Top NLP Startup is Growing, with Caitlyn Brooksby, Executive Director of PR/Communications at Canary Speech

"Is the executive director of PR and communications at Canary Speech Walking Caitlin. Thanks for being here for having so Canary. Speech was named one of the most promising. Nlp STARTUPS TWO THOUSAND. Nineteen and the company describes itself as being at the intersection of healthcare and technology. Can you tell us a little bit more about what Canary Speech does? And why it is seen as one of the most promising and I'LL BE STARTUPS. Not a great question. You know what I think about. That really takes me back to origin story right. How do we start so five years ago? Our founders Jess Adams in Henry Call. They had been friends for over nearly three decades. Honestly and you know they had lived their careers and they got together and what they wanted to do was set auguste standard in a speech and language industry. They were poised to do it right both. Jeff and Henry. They have a clear the experience in Ashley had the excitement to do it and it really well doctors one question and why light you mentioned because normally talk about speech language industry it really can get techy if you don't really deep which is exciting that fun but what we started with nearest started with was this is how is was humans understand the raw motion in the words that someone speaks. You know when you're talking to your sister or your best friends and you ask how their duty say no good but not you know. There's something different right it's off. And how can we do that as humans? And how you use and what we've done is use machine guided machine learning and to really understand identify conditions. So that really is us so now. Today were six. Hatton's later boss. Us An international. And we've just taken this to a whole new level of redefining speaking language in the healthcare industry and so we talk about healthcare in No the intersection there. That that's really what we're setting out to utilize each language in the healthcare industry and bringing it just that step further so about you know. That's exciting because it does take voice to another level like you said you're not only hearing the words but your understanding you know they should behind what's being said and especially in the healthcare space. That's really important. How are you able to do that? I mean if you can talk about that a little bit. Is there a lot of testing research? They're able to kind us to understand the emotions. Someone's voice yes so really I like to Don frears and so what we've done is we've identified two thousand four hundred fifty eight biomarkers in speech. Okay what is a biomarker? What we're talking about here is like tonal. Quality these aspects of speech but mo up. It's what our body creates. And so we're gonNA find these biomarkers and then we developed bottles that are Z. Specific so they're not person's right cake a rich history of somebody's entire healthcare data and compare it but really what we're duty is a disease that he used mass in really scaled and just be utilized healthcare industry and then he used these models as our speech data so we started out here siege. Five years ago we really were focused on farm street. We were in FDA. Hire me cynical. Trials to this is very controlled environment right and we did this. Because we wanted to be able to cruise our technology and energy to get s right wide able to really tune in for router market or the playstation of it and so we really spent a solid three years of just focusing on these controlled. Studies REALLY AMAZING COPIES. Who wanted to get their to market or just simply to help with a civic disease and so that was really exciting to be a part of that and then we really moved into studies where we from the one hundred group right that were testing to really like in the thousand. Just last month we were able to reach a project that had heard ten thousand over dissipate and that was just exciting me. Mary siege his coming to blow background. Like how is this talk about area of science but what we realized early on was that we need full sets to go into a steadier going for project so what we do is hatcher tissue speech on a person's smart device so we use iphones IPADS android. We use these devices to captures fees. We also talk about the intersection of healthcare technology. What's really exciting is. We decided again early. On though he needed to create that bridge. What we were doing in the healthcare street was connected to what we were going to rate so reduce we include the gold standard Or are the panels which used to go to your doctor if you're dealing with stress I e Rd typically piece of paper that you're asked to allow the pen and paper and rate yourself on Howard layer urge years weeks ago and that's what your position uses to solve. You treats the symptoms that you're dealing with when you work with your physician that you say you could just read their seconds of across cheer South Kearns for the doctors I and made from that based on her stress near Zion Unions. And now we're there which brothels really exciting as a company you've made strides that that's a society scalable. That's Donbass it and resilient school that your physician to news you can use these tests. Don't have to be administrated within the hospital space or in the administrative is like family real and that's a place where is comfortable and you think about what's gone on over the last three or by months with coded ninety it really brings tall houses centerstage in funny. I was seven or eight years ago. I was on one of the committees to bring telehealth mount healthcare in your mouth. Nearly ten years ago I started my career there and is now. I'm embarrassed to say but I used to work for the very first time three months ago. I got a cold sore. I mean I knew it wasn't over ninety but I knew I needed some kind of policy packer. Someone is able to use tell homey bonus. I think that's really going to become the nor so. Yeah that's simple bit of our coaching kind of how I see it. How we see ED signing into healthcare. I agree. I mean we've definitely been using. How much more than we have over time and like I said I love that you all are kind of focusing on this emotional piece. You had mentioned earlier that your company also has multiple patents. Can you share with us? What they are. And why was it important for the company to have patents and do you think that something other voice technology companies should be doing for sure so that we pride ourselves? Moore is coming non-negotiable or Henry Projects. They knew that they wanted language. And in order to do that we had to prove that our technology was novel. And it's really exciting. Because just two weeks ago he had are six patents in the EU and so total right so acid time is for the EU. We were awarded one hundred of our planes which is now is not Donald Law. We were in a meeting with one of our clients. Actually find that I met last lie. Voice show guys and they astor pat they. So what do you think about these pens and looked around set rock-solid on that was exciting? I was excited be in for CEO. So I'll break down. Three strategic areas are Hatton's first one is that selection of the twenty four hundred biomarkers show and that had is called is slipping speech germs for building models for detecting medical conditions. So that patent is discharge behind. It is how we go about these biomarkers and using them within our guy and then the second is the. Pat Huddle is medical assessment based on voice. So there's really strategies around this particular the versus we use these selected biographers to identify. Disease are hunger stations. Each right. We're not to read this verbatim Hans. That's awkward not natural right. We're saying hey is our technology on conversational speech. Something that you and I are right now. And then. The third kind of strategy area is use of this artificial speech on vices in zone patented utilize the techniques together on smart devices. And what would that be your watch or your phone right? "Here here's what happened okay Zion Williamson is a nineteen year old he's nineteen okay we talk about him a lot he's been talked about for quite some time now he's one of the biggest freak prospects you will ever see in your life he showed up in the NBA and he's delivered on that as a guy that was the number one pick he's delivered already he looks fantastic Zion Williamson at nineteen years old has done something great and something that you've heard this going on around the world of sports right now because with all these leads that aren't in session do not have the games will people that work at the stadiums are out of work and that sucks right because it's not their fault it's like these people are incompetent they got fired there's a massive virus there's a literal pandemic going on there's a national emergency in this country and those people just can't work right now the circumstances don't allow and so what do you do for those people they're not going to walk into jobs are are people handed all jobs right now probably not so what's going on if you have some owners across the sports world you have some players across the sports world that are giving money of their own money into the stadium and police to help these people out and how great is that one of those people happens to be dialed Williams who can he's nineteen this is a nineteen year old kid this is his first year in the NBA it's not like well he's been through a whole number one pick contracted he's just swimming in dough and it doesn't matter to him at all he is a nineteen year old kid it's in the middle of his first year of his first contract so he's doing well compared to all of us but still this kid donated the money to cover all of the employees at the smoothie king center where the pelicans play he's covering their salaries of what they would have made for thirty days that's amazing right it's amazing display of kindness from a nineteen year old kid think about the maturity that goes into that kind of decision even if people are like Hey we think there's a good movie to do a friend to say you know what yes I think this is the right move I'm in that's an impressive thing to do he did that great job by Zion Williamson awesome

"The bronze started all of this out. Go to like a wrestling analogy right. Like he was faced in the beginning it was a good guy and then he goes to Miami and he becomes a he'll Zion comes into the league and he's been so covered by so many people that there seems to be this level of animosity towards the coverage that makes it feel like he's starting out as a bad guy in some ways to the general public so when the General Public View Zion. Eventually does he being one of the beloved good guys in the NBA or the easy to root against villains of the NBA? He's definitely going to be a good guy he's a face he's built as a face he's pushed as a face but there's a certain section of Fan we're not gonNA take what's been you know being shoved down our throat and they they wanna hate him because of how popular he is when we go to road arenas when Zion comes out the tunnel. There's a hundred fans around there ninety minutes before the game when he comes out cheering for. There's a Duke Jerseys in every arena. We go to now. There's Pelicans gear in every arena. We go to now. I think he's got this kind of childlike lovable personality. That he's always got a smile on his face. I see him being the well like guy throughout his career. So what part of that love for Zion and coverage of Zion? Our obsession with his eye on plays into what is at least being perceived now as a budding rivalry of some sort between Lebron and Zion. I think we're always looking for like who to put. Lebron against but Lebron has been so dominant for so long that his contemporaries kind of they they fall off. So we're looking for are now. Who's the next Lebron? Now and I think Lebron real losses that because everytime he plays against some of these young dudes everything plays against Luca or trey or Zion or jaw. He just wants to remind everybody. Hey guys I'm still the Bron. I think he likes that challenge.

Is Zion Living Up to the Hype for the Pelicans?

"Were in Dallas for the pelicans overtime loss to the Mavericks. Second night of a back to back for New Orleans obviously but we didn't see the Zion. We've sort of been spoiled by over the last month. So what did you get from Zion? On Wednesday night. I saw someone who had to go through a little bit of adversity. There's two different things working against him in that Dallas Game One. It was the first time he played on a back to back. You didn't see his legs under him. Early actually play but gets the block on Williamson Williamson. Took his time getting up court. You may be subbing out of the ball game here. He is drew and Lonzo Ball. We're GONNA come on up to him. Hey man you you're right you you tired. Are you going to play? You GotTa pick one. The other thing. Going against him was Dallas they started Maxi Kluber alongside of kristaps porzingis specifically for Zion Williamson two. That might have been forcing a psychotic burst that is just perfectly played deep that still by Dallas Cleveland's doing A. They went to the formula. That's been working. Which is the. We're GONNA get the tallest guy we have can defend him to do it. And then have another seven footer. Awesome plus footer at the Rim Ryan got blocked inside again. It's not possible in less. Cleber is being this physical and allowing time for kristaps ticket over there. Lieber six ten obviously porzingas seven three. Those have been the only really match ups that have given him problems when they played the box. Janas guarded him and then you have the Lopez twins behind him. Protecting the RIM defers Lakers game. Anthony Davis guarded him. And you had jovial and Dwight rim so that combination kind of went against his favor so walk me through a little bit of the process on the back to back portion of it because this is obviously part of the Adjustment For Zion. So where do you find the line? If you're the PELICANS in trying to get him experienced doing things like back to backs that he'll be asked to throughout his career and then also sort of adjusting him since he is still getting fresh on the court after an injury yeah so initially David Griffin the PELICANS executive vice president of basketball operations who should have a shorter title. It's a mouthful say every time I don't know I mean if you're going to have a title let's go big with it like if I'm going to have a business card the whole front of it's going to be my title and the backs. Just going to say fits. There's not not my first name. Just I'm pretty sure that's what his business card says. I haven't seen one but I'm pretty sure that's it has to read like that initially As I was coming back from the injury. Grif said he wasn't there. Were probably going to take it easy on back to backs. Now the good thing that kind of worked into their favor there was January. Twenty second was when he made his debut since then the Tuesday Wednesday back to back that they just had was the first time they had a back to back so they got to let him get games under his belt. He mentioned to his own Tuesday. You know I have to do the recovery if I want to perform the way that I'm capable of performing as you try to push for or is this your mutual agreement Little bit of both but I need a push for myself because I gotTa do the recovery of I want to be able to perform. We do every night with that. Being said coming off the knee injury there were reports that he was learning how to walk differently. How to run differently? I mean when they're watching him and they're monitoring and what are they looking for his indicators of his health very funny to me because I think George Sodano said that I think on ESPN broadcast and it just kind of blew up. He's learning how to walk and anybody who's been through physical therapy at any point that I for any sort of knee. Injuries foot injury. Whatever it is can tell you. They will relearn how to walk in physical therapy. The learning how to walk and run differently was more about little things in his gate that they wanted to fix. The biggest thing that they really wanted to correct at that time was how he landed when you go back and watch how he landed at. Duke with these huge one handed slam traffic. He's landing on one foot one of the big things you see. Now when he goes up for a dunk whether it's an alley whether he's just throwing it down to hands. He tries to land on two feet as much as possible. Zeile yeah that the to hand flush and a great entry fee for Lonzo Ball over Kunst buck to finish that would KUPA gotta be thinking. What in the world so. It's little things that maybe you don't know at nineteen years old that the Pelicans are trying to instill in him so they can take a little bit of stress off of his knees. The biggest thing you just said is nineteen if you listen to Zion. He'll make sure he tells you. He's nineteen in just about every other interview. I feel like I mean but doesn't right like we are so busy trying to make him either the savior of a lead. That doesn't need to be saved or the reason that we're over. Hyping somebody to the point that people ridicule how much we talk about it but you look at it at some point. Say this is a nineteen year old kid. We're talking about that is absolutely crushing in a limited sample size. So let's turn the tone positive here for a second you're looking at a nineteen year old kid. What he's doing is unprecedented right. It's absolutely unprecedented. Feel like every other night we were finding ways to start a sentence with Zion Williamson. Doing something and we ended it with Michael Jordan or Shaquille O'Neill or Tim Duncan or wilt. Chamberlain the goes on and on and on. And you're like that doesn't make sense.

Doncic’s 30-Point Triple-Double, Porzingis Lead Mavericks Past Pelicans In OT

"So now we look forward to the Dallas Mavericks who just had a pretty big game. They're in seventh place right now. Six would ideal like we talked about last podcast there in six place and the rest of the standings ended up as they are as of now they'd be up against the Denver Nuggets. Which in my opinion would be the easiest matchup for any team really in this western conference standings not to give any disrespect Denver Nuggets or what they've done all season their forty one and twenty. They're great team. But when you look at the Los Angeles Lakers the clippers even the rockets. Those teams just seem a little bit more intimidating so the Mavericks WanNa get higher up in the standings so that they can potentially dodge playing the Lakers or the Clippers. And so they're only half game back from doing this the To eclipsing the Oklahoma City thunder in the standings and so just few days after Lucas. Twenty first birthday he would be going up against Zion Williamson for the first time. And the Pelicans the Pelicans at this point are on a two-game Skid and Zion was playing his first ever back to back so this was a big deal because obviously when he first came back they were totally babying him and having him on minutes restriction not making play back to back and now he's filing gotten that level where he feels pretty comfortable. He's been in pretty good shape and so this is the first game back. It's good test for him to see where he's at physically the PELICANS would also be without. Jj riddick he'll probably offer a couple of weeks with an injury which is really unfortunate for them as they're trying to make this push to get into that last playoff spot so unfortunate for them but in this game it was so close and so back and forth there were thirteen lead changes in this one and eighteen times where the game was tied. The Mavericks would be the ones ahead at the end of the first quarter. Twenty four twenty two. They then had their lead extended out to eleven before the Pelicans brought close again and again and the Mavericks would have the halftime lead up by just two points at halftime. The Mavericks had eleven blocks so welcome to the block party. Three of them being against Zion. So crazy stat for the for the Dallas Mavericks but nothing would still separate these two teams in the third each team scoring thirty points each meaning. The Mavericks would still have a two point lead. The fourth quarter was much of the same very competitive very back and forth and for the majority of the fourth. The Mavericks would have the lead and any time that the Pelicans come close or even tie it as they did a few times in this one they would just push back out but with two and a half to go Ingram. Hit a big three to take the lead finally for the. Pelicans one zero seven one zero six he would then extend it out with a tough fadeaway so pelicans would go up by three then with the mavericks down by one with thirty six seconds ago. It was currie not steph curry his brother. Seth Curry who would regain the lead on a huge three in the corner? And so now the Pelicans down one twelve one nine and seven seconds left Nikola Meli who had missed his last six three pointers. Got The inbounds. Pass put it up and knocked it down to tie the game and send it into overtime with porzingas missing a fadeaway game winner. So what kind of confidence do you have to have when you've missed six three pointers in a row? But the US do they draw up. They didn't drop the play for me to take this three. There's no way he was just the open guy. They gave it to him and he shot it with confidence which is something you should give them a pat on the back door because if I've missed six threes in a row I'm not taking another one for the rest of the game. I wouldn't have missed six zero because I wouldn't have taken that many but could also him for you know lock in and putting it down so great clutch bus bucket there for the Pelicans to try and take this one and not with the game tied at one eighteen in overtime with one eleven to go. It's a Luca. Danni H who hits a step back three Super Clutch? Take the lead late. In the game and later he would then split defenders with a pass and find Porzingis who goes and spikes it down extending their lead to one twenty. Three one. Nineteen effectively icing. This game the Mavericks would win this game. One Twenty seven one twenty three and this game could honestly not have been any tighter. It was close the entire game. Both both teams kind of pushing out for some leads but then again at the end of each quarter they would just come back to two point deficits and then tied obviously to go to overtime so and crazy game where stupor back and forth very competitive and it was just a great game to watch the Mavericks into this game. We're just five and fifteen in games decided by five points or less so they're not necessarily clutch when it comes down to the wire they seem to always drop games but for whatever reason in this one they came out on top and we're able to hold on for a big reason. Why are there two budding? Stars and Luca Danni Jake and Kris Porzingis.

Grizzlies' Ja Morant Says 'I Honestly Don't Care About Rookie of the Year' Award

"John Moran shoot around this morning. Honestly don't care about the rookie of the year. They can give it to who they want do you do you think he doesn't care about the rookie of the year war. I think he does care about the rookie of the year warrant. It just seems like something you do subconsciously. Just try to get you. I mean I think he knows. He's an elite nothing. He knows that the playoff push that his team is in China Goes hand-in-hand with the award. And it's also the right thing to say. I'm more focused on winning awards so I get it politically right But I do think that he cares more about the winning right now because he knows that they're tied together. I give Ziouani in the Pelicans Nash. Afc is going to be because Zion has this miraculous. You know second half that could win the war but he goes onto the spot. You know what I mean. Because he is going to be because he played good enough to hold onto the rookie. Where so it kind of goes hand going to answer the at the same time that we're getting from from the personally. I learned from John. Rando I could say. Maybe he doesn't at the same time he always seems like someone who pushes his peers. Even if that means that it takes a lightweight from him. I think I'm trying to find the video video. It was A. It was an article about the time they jaap played against the heat. He's being tyler hero or the heroes on the bench and he hit a shot next to the bench and he screamed at them. This is my war at tile here because this is tyler hero was season some trying to find that because I mean this would be completely a different change. My say if you went from this is my war too. I don't really care like that anymore. But were they in the playoff hunt because I know at the beginning of the season. They weren't maybe they weren't maybe they weren't but yeah he's right. It is the perfect answer. It is the perfect answer and it does go hand in hand because I think we sat on the show. Whoever wins that deserves the award.

"A ban we're asking you on our WWL blue runner gumbo opinion poll now that signs back are you more excited about pelicans basketball Bobby were talking about the arena having a bunch of L. A. fans in it last night for that game and one of our Texters here saying I was at the game last night and the arena was about thirty five percent Laker fans and those fans were cheering more for lebron than the pals it was sickening now that's not establishing obviously the home court advantage coach gentry is talking about well just the history of the Lakers in in the Celtics when they come to town especially if they're winning like for instance who's on pace to be record breaking as far as best seasons ever season regular season as the Milwaukee Bucks yeah I got I think the pace to win seventy one games so I guarantee the Milwaukee Bucks come to town are you not going to have the following that you have when the Lakers and Celtics come to town it's just tradition and fans that on board because they my grew up they might grown up you know with the Lakers and the Celtics harder dad or they have some kind of ties in but I this is interesting about this takes fifty one forty seven what if you lived and worked in Los Angeles where we're from your lungs who would you pull for I think you have to pull for where you come from right well I'm not I'm not gonna say right yeah yeah yeah differently I I guess you get acclimated some like I grew up in New Jersey and I grew up a Mets fan but I definitely root for well it helps that the nets moved so I have no allegiance to the Brooklyn nets anymore and if you look at it from the NFL and Steve Geller is the same sideline reporter but I grew up in eagles fan has that and eagle so we would always joke what you like that Steve I like the eagles are playing the same to you chaired for specially in the playoffs I want to go to the Superbowl so I'm rooting for the same yeah so that so that so that's where you from and you grew up an eagles fan but you how long you've been in a Louisiana New Orleans now moved to Louisiana in two thousand okay so to date okay yeah I'm a transplant so two decades I would trust you of that not I know your heart but I would trust that you cheer for the saints over the eagles because you've been here long enough you had a son born here and the whole family affair and how you feel like you're a big part of Louisiana so when I look at that this individual with this tax if you if you live there work to Los Angeles how did six months are they how long did you work you live in Los Angeles did you live there a long time and you always follow the Lakers I you know that I think that makes a difference that when you go to a community and how long you live there and what should brace are but I think you never can go wrong if like each year a like a bunch of people from Louisiana they moved to California and that nation and they'll cheer for the saints my name I don't know playing the forty Niners and the rams are the charges they're safe and they're my living California a long time but they're still going to cheer for the same I think it makes it easy to when your team is a winner aw what a death yeah this is so I mean if you're from Cleveland and I moved to Louisiana like we'll go St yes yet if you want to support a winner are a lot I get from you know if if if your rent if you're from Cleveland and by looking forever did not have a championship team to lebron brought the championship to the Cavaliers the Cleveland Indians are baseball Major League Baseball so close but to me because our product how can in Major League Baseball but even if you move away from Cleveland because the product was very competitive kind of like the Vikings were you so close you never win anything Buffalo Bills but how could you not be no matter where you move you follow baseball another major league city you're from Cleveland could you not be in any I just think it's in your body because a winner and that that that's the magic thing am by Associated do have positive experiences well when I grew up with this particular team whether it's football basketball or baseball and my supporting

"And Jacoby is Jalen Anthony. What I'm David Jacoby. Cool check-in together originally. When is it that we do we give the people law agreed? Game Between Lebron and Zion. Last night Siahaan had thirty five points but it was Lebron's thirty four point triple double that carried them. Pass the Pelicans on the Road Jalen I. Philip Lebron sends a message Zay on when they play together. Do you think that's fair to say? I believe that a couple of lazy things that have happened via multimedia fans that I'm just going to refute and try not to feed into okay. I Seen Lebron. Brings everybody if you're honest in the League. He'd be unanimous. Mvp THEY ENDED NOBLE ONC-. He leaves the entire NBA in the SIS. Not just when they play against Luca trae young as I am Williamson. He's averaging twenty five points. I guess everyone okay. Anthony Davis wasn't present. Caruso wasn't present any just lost the Memphis tonight before so. It was a game that they needed. That's burden foremost while. These guys are physical anomalies as it relates to their body type in their athleticism and their personalities and their for being such young players. I think a comparison for Zion ship. More about guys that play up front. You've Ron. James is a guy that has perimeter scales. He's a monster. Top of all time in assists as well. Their Games are so vastly different year. Because they're both six. They're to be times where they're standing in front of each other on a basketball court. I almost like comparison of of Zion to a guy like Anthony.

Is Duke Done? A Season of NCAA Basketball Surprises

"Myron. I think the last time we spoke. I was at Cameron Indoor Stadium asking You what you thought about Zion Williamson. That was the last time and now Zion's gone and things haven't been as good for college basketball since he left. Myron Medcalf is a senior college basketball reporter for ESPN. Men's college basketball has been having a pretty weird season. Can you explain to us sort of the state of things and why some of the usually omnipresent contenders your dukes your? Unc's Kentucky aren't even in the top five while it's a meeting in a year like this anybody who tells you that they know exactly what's going to happen in March. They're lying because there was no one no expert. That understands kind of what's happened so far. It's just been a wild year but I think you can look at some of the things that transpired Really at the start of the season. I think the James Wiseman suspension by the answer. Aa For twelve games after being ruled ineligible. You have a Memphis team that I think had a chance to be much better if he sticks around. Lamelo ball who if he follows the traditional track and goes to a UCLA USC that changes the spotlight on those programs as well But instead you have a lot of the blue blood teams that don't have the lottery level talent that they had a year ago. Duke is still a top ten level team but they don't have anyone close To a Zaylon you'd have a team like Gonzaga that had to lottery picks last year. They got some good players. Nothing like that so the the powerhouse teams are just really good team which has closed the gap so now a San Diego State with the Malachi Flint and against double team Malachi for three huge three by malachite lend. That's a really good team. Competing for number one see the Dayton with an ob top suddenly was one of the best teams in America. And I think it's because you just don't have the same concentration of talent we're accustomed to seeing with your Kentucky's in Dukes. Then you'RE K. Use Marin what is it like covering a season like this where there are really clear favorites and no one seems to have any idea. What's going on this year? You just don't really know who to chase like. You don't know who to say okay. That's the team to watch. Because they're really good. It just feels like a pretty fragile college basketball scene which is great for the tournament for everything. We didn't have in college basketball this year in terms of no established kind of powerhouse team. I think we're going to see the benefits of it. Come into double A. Tournament. Time when we could have one of the craziest craziest. March madness is we've ever had so. Let's talk about Duke. Quit even when dukes not great? We're still going to talk about Dick. Because it's really interesting. Myron how much struggled on Saturday they lost to Virginia Virginia wins. That look the three point line. Just couldn't connect before that game. They were ranked seventh. But I imagine they could go down even further now right. Yeah I mean this is a team that I think will will fall in the rankings. Duke has run into some teams who put on their Superman capes in the last couple of games. And that's change things you have. Nc State which made sixty one percent of its threes and that loss A week ago wake forest mixed fifty four percent of its threes. These things those teams had done before they phase Duke and Virginia really as just a team on the rise So I think duke got caught in kind of a weird gauntlet there but trae Jones has been sort of their closer whereas a year ago you could go to RJ bear. You could go to Cam Reddish you could go on. And now they're a bit more one dimensional They're much closer to what you see. Maybe in a typical season where they're right there with Louisville and Florida state and Virginia and the other teams at the top of the ACC. But they don't have a guy who's GonNa carry them to the top of the League and just help them separate. That's just not enough talent in college basketball for really any team to do that. But especially in the league like the Agency. So you're in Kansas right now in Kansas. The number one team. You were there to watch them. Play Kansas State and it was a right because these two teams Fighting literally fighting back in January Shit and now the benches inc just unnecessary. That's not good. This is Paul. This is bad this is but on Saturday night myron. They shook hands before the tip off in. Kansas came away with the victory. What did you make of the number team in their performance? Well I I'm just glad nobody fought again because that that would have been bad Glad to have that moment before the game I will say. I've never been to a regular basketball game outside of the NCAA tournament that had as much security as that game. Had I mean they were everywhere about? I'm glad there was an incident. I I think Kansas is sort of the perfect team in a year like this. Do they have a lottery pick? No but they've got this really balanced group of guys who are pretty good offensively. They've been pretty efficient team and they got two guys who win they're together. They're hard to stop. It's Dotson In Gaza Buki who when they're on the floor together. Kansas made about sixty percent of his shots inside the art. Their opponents have made about forty one percent of their shots inside the three point line. That's the story right there when those two guys are together. Kansas is certainly the best team in America. But you also look at them and go. Are they one bad night from Abu? Koa from struggling. He was hurt part of the game on Saturday against the bad Kansas state team boss feeds it in bounced past as a group. Six to shoot you back down spits travels this is the shot ultimately but he rolled his ankle. Oh this is good has approved. He is clutching his right foot so Kansas is good. But like a lot of teams there. One bad moment badge stretch away from being right there with everybody else. Well now. It seems like Kansas is going to run away with the big twelve after Baylor who was ranked number two going into the weekend got upset by. Tcu How bad was this for Baylor? It's always interesting right. Like Baylor won every game but one for like two months straight and now all of a sudden last week I think a lot of people are panicking and that happens to a team. Like Baylor which doesn't have the brand recognition of Duke or Kentucky or a Kansas. So in hard times. I think we may be overemphasized Some of their struggles. I think you obviously don't want to continue losing and losing to a team like Tcu is not good For them but this is a team that again played a tissue team that did things that they haven't done in the past made forty five percent of the threes on Saturday against Baylor. They made thirty three percent of their shots from three point. Line before that so that can be more of an anomaly. I think Baylor overall though is one of the best defensive teams in America made the best defensive team not named Kansas. So that's GONNA keep them in every game that they play well one team. That's right up there with Kansas and Baylor is Gonzaga perennial contenders They did lose to. Byu about a week ago but they're still considered favorites to win the WCTC. How good is this Gonzaga team? I think they're really really good me now like I think they're amazing. I just think this is a year where because everyone has been sort of even you get one loss and all of a sudden. Gonzaga gets the whole. You haven't played anybody. And why are you losing you know in the West Coast Conference and I think that's unfair? Byu was a really good team like Byu's go into selection Sunday with maybe a five or six seed. Maybe even better so. There's nothing wrong with losing a road game in that environment to a good team. They have the number one offense in America a flea Petra. Sav is one of the best young players Indian tire country. We would know what mark few the head coach can do. And they've got two losses all year. I think that is one of the best teams in America and I think will prove it wants double a. Tournament starts so most of the rankings have some combination of Kansas Baylor in Gonzaga in the top. Three we'll see how this weekend changes that but after that myron gets pretty interesting. I'm you've got Dayton San Diego state. Did you see that coming up before the season began out like I wish I could lie and say I did? I wish I could be that dude. It was like yeah. I called San Diego State back in October in Dayton. But I didn't I mean like ob top and a Dayton is suddenly this lottery pig. And I don't think anybody saw that Common Dayton on Friday against Davidson Mia. Think about this number. They may ninety six percent of their shots inside the three point. Line Ninety six percent like I don't care if you're playing a high school junior Varsity Team. That's really difficult to do in Dayton. Did that and not only did they do it. They've been doing it Throughout the season just really inefficient offensive team in San Diego State. A team that lost its first game about a week and a half ago. The they've been role as well in their line of people who will say San Diego State doesn't play the competition that the other top teams have faced in college basketball. That's not true. They beat the. Byu Team that just beacons Aga- they beat Creighton. Which I think is the surprise of college basketball naked win at all by thirty one points and they beat Iowa another solid team another Aa tournament team by ten points so the best teams that were thrown at San Diego State. They won those games now. They did lose the UNLV Week ago but beyond that there have been a really really good team and I think in a year like this again. You're not going to run into a team with two lottery. Picks it feels like they can make Iran as well both San Diego state ending

"When you were younger than Zion right and I think that that's a layer of Lebron's game that frankly we may never see matched by anyone after him ever again right. I mean to conceive of a player who thinks the game and orchestrates the game as well as Lebron Coming along it's pretty mind blowing right. Even the guys that I seen their praises the Absolute Loudest Jaanus Zion. No chance they're never going to get to that level for that part of the game. So if I was Lebron and I was hearing Comparisons Tucson. That would actually really annoy me. I'd be like yeah. He's great in transition. Yes he's amazing dunker yes. He's huge and moves like crazy. But this guy is not on my level a lot of specific ways and it would actually probably genuinely bothered me If I was a competitive guy in that spot so I do think that that might be kind of the undertones here of this conversation but like you said earlier. We're just speculating. You know. We're just watching a brewing beef and trying to stoke the fire a little bit and see what develops but I absolutely encourage everybody in the open floor globe. Keep your eye on this one. It was weird. I was there for both interviews. Neither one went the way I thought it would. I thought Lebron was Kinda crown as the young king quote unquote and kind of give them thirty seconds generic praise. That would be that I thought Zion would come out and say Oh yeah. It was so cool to play against the broad here in staple center and he instead he was like. Yeah it's a nicer arena like Lebron incredible player. He just didn't want any part of it. And it Made Me Love Zion even more and it did make me think that Lebron might be entering debt. that late career. Mike Stage of just like all these young guys these whippersnappers and Both sides of it were fun. Yeah I'm hanging on the to the the clutch theory. That's 'cause I love blaming clutch.

"Good morning it is time to get up when the first ever meeting Lebron and Zaylon which it every way lived. Up to the hype. If you missed it get to popcorn ready right off the top the very latest on to his medical and why they could mean he is in flight to go even higher than we expected and the day is finally here. Joe Meets with the Bengals once and for all does he want to go to Cincinnati. Those are the questions. We've got the answers as we get up with. Us starting right now delighted to have neagh back. It's been far too long. Been through long very busy shoe news coming out of the NFL and the collective bargaining negotiations and NECAS. You'll be all over it and we're going to NAPA less than a minute but we have to begin J. game the night. Maybe the match up of the year. Lakers Pelicans meaning those two men Zion and Lebron first ever meeting and they put on a show right out of the look on this is what Zion's great at attacking in transition. I think he had about seven dunks last night. Grigny duck machine outing transition early second quarter. Now though we're going the other way look turnover by design on one end and here comes legrand. What a fastball Caruso. What a set up by Caruso for the setup for the James Duncan on joss welcome back to La Jaw. Can I get a? Is it in the house? One Minute later Zion look at working inside and Jay Williams just so strong whenever somebody's able to move coward out the way pretty quickly. Just look at this Lonzo throwing up Zion throwing down but on the other end now. Here's Lebron Oh that's just unstoppable first-half Zion had seventeen. Lebron had fifteen lakers led by six third quarter. Lebron absolutely nuts. This is when he made a statement. I'm still the man here. Brooke Brian just does all the little things in the game of basketball. He made so many threes. Last night. You go under the screen. They'll start knocking shots down. He believes himself. Lebron James is what Zayn Williamson wants to be down the stretch. That was an eight nothing. Individual run for Lebron. Make it an eleven nothing. Lebron run to start the quarter days. Fired up a Lakers pulling away. Pelicans down eleven cy on not giving taking strong to the whole thing would finish with twenty nine. Yeah he was able to get around Anthony. Davis Anthony Davis thought he was going to use the right hand but he used left to go underneath. Ooh ooh punish him honest in the Bronx put through all day in the basket. Push down by two headed to the fourth and in the fourth. It is more from Laker. Defense Watch Alex. Caruso the Caruso with all all ladies and gentlemen all Lonzo Ball. That poem was not intended. It just worked out. That Lakers blocked twelve shots on the night. Three minutes to go lakers up six Lebron with the two hands slam no passing of the torch last night green absolutely not Lebron said. I'm not going anywhere. Forty Points Lebron James Season. I add on eight boards six assists big win at home exception basketball. I think every game. He's going to get better and better just having that experience. I think today's game is a perfect fit for his game. The high the high pace the way they play if this game me. He's an incredible player. Like I don't know jar standing about that. He's an incredible. I mean he handled business. He came out here and he did what he had to do to get to win. So Jay Williams. What is the very first thing we should say? After watching the show. Last night that Zion Williamson will be the face of the NBA soon. Soon but Lebron James is still one of the most dominant players. The game has ever seen at his age to be able to do that. Forty points and.

"COM APP seeps Rudy loss. The white mob but Brian Scale. Breen's Gal days finally come maybe the most anticipated rookie debut since Lebron maybe number two ever that is Diane. WHO's GonNa make his NBA tonight? Fired it up with one game last night and this is pretty much. We're GONNA do a whole show basically on a bunch different angles on Zion. WE'RE GONNA go to New Orleans. talked to a athletic reporter will jewelry. He was gonNA Kinda give us the latest rumors that he may start tonight. Autumn minutes restriction. But I mean I'm I'm pumped man. I tell you what this is really really exciting stuff. We've had several months to see him. you know. We've we've talked talked. We've almost beaten to death. Like the whole like how does he fit. You know we've had the conversation we've all these conversations will be great to see it in the flesh tonight as he makes his pro debut so look out for that while all I also WanNa ask Ryan mcdonagh. Who's going to hop on your former? GM BARBARA SON GM. Where like who are the most excited guys that he saw when he was brought offices that he couldn't wait to see not necessarily his own team yelling not necessarily his team? who were guys? Because he's he's evaluating all these guys like. who was he really interested to see if it was real? It wasn't real or like God that he liked or something that he can seize. We'll do that a little bit later. He's going to hop on hop on about a half an hour here on the show And we'll get to the mavericks. I mean they get the loss last night it was top. BECAUSE THEY'RE GONNA lose their starting center. Dwight Powell Paul. Who's a pretty big piece of that team? Also WanNA ask mcdonagh. Do they make a move now. Disorder trump try to replace him because he was he had some really great chemistry with Luke Dodge And now now he's GonNa be out for what seems like definitely the rest of the season and maybe in the future so we'll see what kind of moves the mavericks can make you know. They're obviously a team in the middle of the Western Conference playoff race so first and foremost our. US hyped as I am about design stuff because we got full Zion show on deck today. What how you know? You got a game tonight but yeah I guess you I have coming in the building. Ron Eq that the guy I have coming in building job mirant so oh I get a chance to see John Live on Zion. Sabe you and obviously I don't know the campaign anybody else that would be up for the top rookies in both these guys are supposed to make massive impacts in the NBA Career Zion. We don't know everyone in nineteen job the new MVP of the future MBA someday. But I'm excited about Zion. I I just I. My expectations will be curbed and I go to New Orleans was today. I couldn't Orleans on Sunday so I'll get to see him live as well L. so my expertise are so different than I think the world and I don't know if he could be a really good impactful player and still not live up to the hype but athletically obviously super gifted so we're going to see how that translates into things that are difficult to guard. So we'll see and the PELICANS right now. I think good team presiding Williamson. Because I think that they should play fast. I think that that's an advantage for him. Getting up and down the floor Laura I think they have versatility at that. Five spot you can go Jackson Hayes it to five and then maybe you can play a little bit of Zion at the five. So I like the team and I don't think he'll be held l. to the fire defensively which also something that would allow him to grow on the offensive end so yeah definitely exciting times in New Orleans right now all. It can't get any worse. Defensively rights terrible defensively. So like he him him returning like if he's okay and they'll probably be better defensively so that's a plus. I do think the expectations our the expectations are a killer in some ways. Like that and we've talked about it in the preseason with Buke Myself We agree that Zion can't just be like a you know a defensive wants a player of the year rotation like not a rotation guy but like a solid starter or even like the second best player. He's gotTa be a transcendent guy to live up to the hype and that's not me putting his ex. That's that's the media world that's the fans van. And that's all the hype from him when he was at do goes with the expectations for who he should be in the NBA. I'm not sure that's what we'll see. I'm excited to see what it looks like. I don't have any doubts. He's going to be a good player. Go but I do think like here's a couple of things like for example like the Pelicans like people were saying can save the Pelicans season the Pelicans are had really disappointing star As I mentioned they've been terrible arable defensively but they're still in the couple of games out of the playoff race in the western conference. Really I mean they. They are currently three and a half games back of those grizzlies that you'll see tonight. So people are asking the question of cans. I on his return. You know all of a sudden can can light a fire. Under this Pelican Stephen Covey he'd be the missing piece that can propel them to a potential run to the western conference. I don't know if that's true now. Five thirty eight which I thought was interesting which. ESPN sort of projection website. They do all sorts of sports things but their MBA projections actually have the pelicans Elkins having a sixty one percent chance to get the eight seed in the western conference which is by far the highest of any team. And that's I mean that's that seems insanely high to me sixty one percent. I said I don't know I don't even think I'd put it at fifty fifty. I think it's way below fifty percent. I would put it like thirty percent. Maybe even lower than thirty percent that they make the playoffs. There's the expectation scout that people are putting on Zion. ESPN is driving the hype machine to get their ratings up and they're gonNA look at some of the well I will say like. I don't think I agree with you on. ESPN they are all in on Zion for sure but I do think that the thirty eight stuff those are like models that they built based on rosters schedule and stuff like that. So there's really not you know I'm sure there's biased. But how do you build a model based on Zion. That's that's stupid kid. You can't project what you think he's going to be. You can have an idea idea. But that's not based off a science that's not based off of actual game play. How are you basing a model off of what Zion did? What don't get in warmth putting it head by the rim? What he doesn't mean anything those dunks do they look good man? That's listening for further youtube in the you know the twitter. NBA Fan crowd. Like that's all that's some. That's sometimes all people need to see. They get excited about that. He's doing you know under the Dunkin in pre-game diary. I understand that for sure but let's be honest. Though I mean you know this Pelicans Elkins team was a team. That people thought was going. We're going to be better for sure. So I don't know I mean maybe that's not a bad rosser. I like Britain and probably more than you do. We'll we'll see Andrew holiday another story that also came out you know that's related desire on his woes now reporting the Pelicans have sort of put all their trade talks on hold because they want to see what it looks like they WanNa. Let's see what this team looks before. They trade drought for the Trade Center. There veterans whether it's derrick favors who knows they wanna see like if it's if Zion gives them sort of jolt in the arm to go on this playoff before they they start you know selling and looking towards next year which I think is very smart. I just don't think I just think if we're if we're saying I was GONNA come back. This team's going to go on a run especially when the when we'll talk to go to New Orleans a little bit later and talk to the source. It seems like he's autumn. He's going to be on a minute restriction he's going to be on a game restriction like he's not going to be playing back to back so I think you know some people are getting a little bit ahead themselves and like how much you could make a difference for the CELICAS team. I think they're obviously going to be better with him. But how much of an impact he make you know especially tonight playing what fifteen to twenty minutes although he may start reportedly the one thing that I don't do I wish maybe I should. Maybe that's what drives business like. I had to see a guy over the course of twenty games to decide and I know people love to watch the NC Double A. Tournament. And say I love that guy which my team would have drafted that guy. I don't I've I've seen it before I've seen players that I thought were really good on TV. And then you see him live. And you're like man. He's not very good. Or you see a a player that or you play. It's guy and you realize I know was talking about this guy and this guy's a beast remember my workout and I didn't know who Joe Johnson was. He was just like some. Freshmen Arkansas. Right Freshman at Arkansas average twelve points a game or whatever. The Guy destroyed me in the individual workouts and I was like how come Noah not talking about him in so different levels of NBA players. And listen I would love to tell you that I can look at college players and tell you that I love at this guy or I love that guy be lying man. There's so much that goes into being successful in the NBA. There's so much that goes into winning the NBA and getting five dunce is is great. That is awesome. It's like shows that you have the athleticism to be able to do it but sometimes those are winning. Plays getting a big time block shot. Sometimes sometimes it means you're like completely add a position to begin with and if that player was a really good player. He would've dunked on you so there's a lot that goes into being a good player. Were you affect winning. Not where you're out there making highlights and getting the hype train up. And that's why like the job. Ranting is interesting as well and everybody's everybody's anointing him because like for instance. I use this example so at the beginning of the season when the grizzlies were losing no one was talking about this yet in the middle middle of the season he the future. MVP So explain to me somebody else go ahead Moran a future MVP before for the obvious. No I mean obviously the winning helps. I'm but I will say that. There were things even when they were losing early in the season. Where you go manage is Johnson got? I don't know what it is but jaw can the he's a great passer. The athleticism is through the roof. Like sometimes like he would he would be so athletic. You'd be afraid for his health in the future because he would just go free flying in the air and take got on all these big centers and stuff when he was when they were losing earlier in the season. I think it was of course. It'll never be there when you're winning when this winning streak happen and now that they're in the eighth seed it's it's like the the latest completely blown off the whole thing but people were very excited about John Moran early in the season even when they were losing sure but but at the same show we hate on Russell Westbrook for his lack of shooting shooting and stayed in the former. MVP So there's there it's top to be good in this league like when we're talking about the greats man like people just throw out these not these are all man..

"He is Back Zion. Zion Williamson is starting to night Tuesday the while now. He's starting Wednesday. Sorry I apologize. He is going to be starting in the next New Orleans. PELICANS game and everybody excited about it. He's bans excited about it. Fox's probably best. CBS TNT. Probably probably. I mean everyone's excited about this. Because He Zion Lewiston when the most hyped players to enter the NBA. Sense Lebron James so so is exciting. Obviously everybody's hyped about it. He had a fantastic time in at Duke. Another player player. He had mazing time at Duke Amazing Year at Duke. They didn't win a national championship or anything but he was the number one. Pick in the draft to go to the neural New Orleans. Pelicans thought he was going to the Knicks. I thought he was going to go anywhere. But the Pelicans but the Pelicans one lottery Republicans got the number one pick and they picked the obvious choice was Zion Williamson. So what is the what. What are we expecting here so under with knee surgery before the season started? Of course that's why he has not played at all this year before he went on he played four four preseason games and he tweaked his knee during the preseason games. And that's what led to the surgery and all that so so his stats in the preseason games that he played in the four that he played in so he went he averaged twenty three point. Three points on seventy one percent shooting with with six and a half rebounds in four preseason games so the main question is Howard. The PELICANS GONNA use him so the Pelicans have been kind of getting by. They have Brandon Ingram. WHO's playing pretty pre- pretty great Lonzo? Ball's praying plane pretty great greats kind of overstated actually because the Pelicans are sixteen in twenty twenty seven at the moment they are eleven games under five hundred. They are twelfth in the Western Conference so by great I mean. They're great for what they've been doing. Bearing Ingram's been playing better since his time with the Lakers Lonzo. Ball's been playing a little bit better. Josh Heart is okay. Then you have drew holiday. Jj rettig veteran presence on the team they are playing as they usually play. So how are they gonNA use. I on when when he gets filing playing which he will start playing Wednesday so one thing that people people are saying is that he could get the Janas treatment when he does start playing so basically what happens happens the honest as they play they give him a load management so he could still be fresh for most game and fly around. These amazing plays at Janas does so they could gives eye on a very similar load management. Expect around twenty twenty five minutes in the first few games because you know he's still got to get him up to speed because remember he has never so played in a real NBA basketball game so that learning curve that most players have to go through by. Now they're usually pretty good. He still has to go through that learning curve. There's still a learning curve that he has to go through then on top of that he's also rehabbing that knee which he's already rehab. I mean he's got he's given the full goes one hundred percent to play for the Pelicans and the upcoming game so at first is going to be very little top and and it's really going to be interesting to see if you actually make impact. He made a huge impact on the prison. Two Games but those are preseason games. Actually Games are completely completely different but then again people said that about. He played at a small Catholic school in Spartanburg South Carolina. People said that when when he moved up to Duke went to Duke Start Playing on these ACC schools. They said he's got just to involve the Blah. We'll see how he actually how good he actually is then. They said the same thing when he moved up to the Summer League. We'll see how actually the summer league dominated at Summer League and now people are saying the same thing he's moving up to the actual NBA and people people are wondering is he actually going to be good in the actual MBA. So it's kind of all news at this point for Zion. I feel like he's going through the same same Amol Song and dance that people have gone. He's gone through three years pretty much because he was in high school three years ago so actually two years ago. He was in high school two years ago. So this is something he's been going through the past couple years everybody keeps saying there's a lot of nonbelievers when it comes Zion Williamson camp but I can tell you you got to watch person. Unfortunately I live near where his high school was. I never was interested in actually going to see a ranum high school kid play basketball. Aw That's just not my thing. I live near near where he is. I wanted him to go to Clemson because Clemson was definitely big target or he was a big target for Clinton he did not. He chose Duke over Clemson. Which I'm still upset about? But it's okay. He chose Duke over Clemson which smart move on his part I suppose but so he goes to Duke. Plays really well at Duke. I never got to see him on. TV of course but never got to see him live. Because Duke did not come to Clemson then then I wasn't gonNA drive up to Durham to duke game so I never got a person but what I've seen of him on television and during the NCAA tournament airmen during any duke. Game against the game played against Clemson. Duke at Cameron Indoor he is a monster. This kid is a monster. He is nothing like I've ever seen before you can compare him to Lebron but I think he's a little bit more physically. Gifted than Lebron was at this age Lebron James He. He was athletically gifted but physically. I compare Kinda Shack. He's like leaner shack because when I joined the NBA he was big. He was athletic. He can do all this crazy stuff. Zion kind of like that. That's how I would describe so so the impact impact on the Pelicans I feel like is going to. He's going to bring a lot of attention to himself. Because I feel like a lot of teams don't want to be shown up by ion remember. He is still the number one pick the NBA draft and the the basketball one player can change a team. Dramatically so having Zion in the game is going to open up. Avenues for for Brandon Ingram for drew holiday for JJ radic. He's going to get more open. Shots them on the outside and then also help with rebounds and stuff like like that is going to be very interesting how they use him like I said he's only in between playing twenty to twenty five minutes so as we very interested in how the pelicans skins how Alvin gentry uses him. The PELICANS still have a chance of making the playoffs. Now there's been arguments should the PELICANS even try to make the playoffs. There's is a young team Zion. Who's who you don't want to get injured again? You kind of want him to go through the rest of the season unscathed so he can spend the offseason getting better and getting full fully recovered from this injury. So it's going to be very interesting. How they use him? They could make the playoffs. They're just wealth. I don't know how many games out of the eighth out of the playoffs. The Ark but their twelfth in the Western Conference. Let's see how many games are they. They are out. There are only out four games from the eighteen. Only outboard games. Which is the Memphis Grizzlies? Who John Mirant on their team? WHO's there's another fantastic rookie? He was drafted second overall behinds ion and he's playing fantastic so the PELICANS can make. That's the bottom line with this terrible record. They could still make it. They still have a chance they will actually. They're probably more than four games out of the playoffs offs. But they're about four and a half according to basketball reference DOT COM so they still have a chance. Zion is good enough to get them into the playoffs offs. He is good enough. Basketball is completely different sport. When you when you have a team like the Cleveland Cavaliers and you just add Lebron onto it all of a sudden and they're making the NBA championship NBA finals every single year? And then Lebron leaves and then they're back to being back back to playing now. Yeah well back to pretty much relevancy. So it's interesting. It's interesting because one one player can really change changed a lot in the NBA. And Zion can change a lot for the Pelicans so the Pelicans are definitely GonNa be teamed. Watch the PELICANS game wins. I and makes his debut is going to be much. Must Watch even though he's probably not going to have that much activity in the game because like I said they're kind of rehabbing him they're kind of slowly getting them in you have that learning curve playing in the NBA which he still has to get used to and then of course you have the situation that they need to focus on. So there's a lot of deterrence to Zion Zion Zion Zion's debut but is still going to be exciting. He's one of the most exciting young players in the league and we haven't even seen him play game the fact that this many people are still talking about him. Even though he's been an injured for the whole year most most players will get forgotten about for the whole year. But now we've been talking Masire on this entire time. How the public can be with Zion? How how is going to play in the NBA and stuff like this so there you have it like I said it's GonNa be interesting to watch and I want him excited? I will tune into it probably will tune in for the twenty twenty five minutes Edzai in place and we'll see see how it goes and we'll see if the PELICANS will get over that Hump and get to the top so up next. We'll be talking more basketball but we're going to college. We're going to collegiate level as college. Basketball has been chaotic this year. And we'RE GONNA.

What has the culture around basketball been like in the city as much as New Orleans is a football town especially since Katrina with the saints having actual success? It's always been strong basketball city. They understand basketball here. They love basketball here. It is a great basketball town town and I think when Zion does get back on the floor though season going to be filled and these fans are gonna be very excited to watch basketball. Will you mentioned they're calling Zion one of one but I'm old enough to remember when they had another player who a lot of people thought was one of one and that was anthony. Davis was drafted first overall back in two thousand twelve. He was supposed to be the guy to save basketball in the city. And we all know how that story ended ended. The team didn't succeed in the playoffs. He wanted out ended up getting traded to Los Angeles and really. I think you know left an entirely a different team in his wake. What sort of roster design? Walk into a much better one that is suited around him than the one. That Anthony Davis left. That was kind of the issue with the whole time and when people see. Ad Catching all these lobs from in finishing reverse like. Oh my God. He's so he'd been doing that for years. People just weren't watching the games down here. He is a phenomenal player but the roster was was not constructed properly around him. The team. mm-hmm is constructed a little bit better around Zion than it was around Anthony Davis and they brought in. Jj Redick they brought in Derry favors. They kept your holiday so that it has has a little bit of that veteran mix but the team is built to grow a little bit better than when it was for eighty so andrew. There was never a question in New Orleans about whether or not Zion would play this season but what about next season and the season after that not whether or not he play but how much basketball Zion will play load. Management has been one of the biggest story lines of the NBA season given the injury concerns. And I understand stand if those are overstated do you think they'll approaches usage differently from how they might use another young player. I think they're going to monitor him. Probably a little bit closer but As long as he's healthy they're gonNA let him play. I don't ever foresee him being a a a thirty eight minute night. Kind of Guy I think they'll they'll keep that in mind. You know he'll he'll play his thirty eight forty minutes sometimes when when they're trying to to really win some good ballgames but they're gonNA monitor minutes. I think moving forward. They're gonNA monitor his play. how He is if he needs a day off they'll give him a day off? Maybe it'll be in practice. Maybe it'll be a game. They understand that Zion Williamson is the long term future of this franchise as much as during during the season during the preseason I should say they've been griffin and Alvin gentry. Liked to talk about how your holiday was was is the face of the franchise right now. They didn't want to try to put too much pressure around Zion. They know what it is. There's a huge hundred sixty something foot billboard outside the arena. Would science picture on it. It wasn't a what's it's not drew's picture. So they know he's the future so they know they have to keep him healthy at all costs. They are trying to protect his body for the long-term so to the public hasn't seen a lot of Zion. But you've been around him. How has he handed all of this? What has he been like in the locker room? He's jokes are the. He's a fun Kim and you've got to remember. He's still nineteen. He's still learning. He's still getting used to this. I remember you know he was talking once within Keel Alexander Walker Walker about like hitting the half court shot and he trying to joke around about what they were going to do with it and Aqeel joke. Hey man we we need to make this a second contract we gotta make this a first contract. Bet The the biggest bet right now is still bet pushups with some of the Pelicans staffers. They'll try to challenge him at the end of his workout with with a certain dunk and the one that has been recently. Recently as a a two steps into a between the legs dunk at the Rim and design has won some and had to. Do you know the staffers after do pushups. He's is law some and they've had to do push ups so he's really just being a kid right now. He's having a lot of fun he he understands. That work is work. But he's making the most out of the situation and Lsu just won the national championship New Orleans sports fans. I'm guessing are in pretty good. Good spirits right. Now what will be like when Zion makes his return. What will the mood be like in the city? It's it's going to be like a volcano erupting. If it wasn't already you know it's been crazy the last couple of days with with Lsu. I'll think a lot of people went to work on Tuesday so so it's going to be pretty crazy. I remember what it was ten years ago when the Saints won the Super Bowl and it just kind of carry for a while through the city so for for you to basically ride that wave of momentum into exile Williamson debut and then they can still make a playoff push. The city's going to react very well to it. I can promise you that. Thanks so much Andrew. Thank you guys coming up is moment for the WNBA ESPN daily covering the greatest sports stories in history. Here's another story. I want you to know Yesterday was a massive day for women's basketball the WNBA in its players union announced a new collective bargaining agreement. That will change the game and could change women's sports period now if you've been following the WNBA in recent years you know that as viewership and attention have grown the league she has drawn scrutiny for how it pays players when former league MVP Brianna Stewart ruptured her Achilles while playing abroad. which is something a number of stars due to supplement their limited income that criticism intensified now? The new agreement doesn't fix everything but it's a massive win for players as part of the deal the maximum. WNBA salary will rise more than eighty three percent to two hundred fifteen thousand dollars and certain players can make even more the revenue avenue split between players in the league. A major point of contention under the old agreement which players receiving twenty to thirty percent could become a fifty fifty split by twenty twenty one on top of that. The bargain insures MOMS will get paid on maternity leave as well as improving travel conditions and other benefits the Commissioner of the League. Cathy Engelbert called the deal. A big bet on women which I think is a really good way to put because too often when people debate the notion of equal pay. They look the discrepancy in revenue profitability without recognizing that for profit companies invest in ventures. All the time. Not Because of what they've earned or done so far but because of what they could become so this is the WNBA and by extension the NBA which supports the league betting on the women who played a sport believing that if they give them the support they need off the court. The game itself will grow as a result Time and this has been E._S._P._N.. Daily I'll.

"And Lopez covers the New Orleans Pelicans for ESPN Andrew. From the moment. That the Pelicans won the lottery landing the first overall Pick Zion Williamson was almost universally expected to walk in and be the face of the franchise really the face of basketball in the city of New Orleans. What did you think as you're watching the draft? Yes so I'll go back to the lottery with just two weeks. Prior to this the the newspaper I was working for got bought out. I was really in a state of flux personally. And then I remember when that Memphis logo came out of the number to envelop. The second pick will be made by the Memphis Grizzlies number one mic and the two thousand nineteen and it goes to the New Orleans. Pelicans and I realized Oh wait to turn to a buddy of mine who was sitting next to grabbed his arm and I was like Bro. I got a job like somebody. Who's going to hire me for this guy so it all kind of worked out? Because that night I I kind of started started the ball rolling with ESPN and ESPN hired me in August two covers ion and and do all this. It really change a lot in the city. I mean in the city itself. What the day after the they like three thousand or thirty five hundred season ticket packages? It was it was insane. You saw people walking around. It was June and July in New Orleans and you saw people walking around in Pelicans gear. That's saints time that we don't we don't do that down here. Really has changed a lot for Zion. Get down here and it's still hype is still the very real. Even though he hasn't actually played a regular season game yet right you were brought into covers ion you have not been covering Zion. Well not covering him on the court. He's practicing. He's been injured all year. What's his outlook like? Today is actually a very big day for Zaylon because the PELICANS still want to get him a a lot of five on five work. That's a big step in his recovery right now. The problem with that has been. They haven't had a lot of practice time to get there once. He was cleared the five on five work last week. He did it but then the pels had a stretch of five games in eight days where they didn't really get much practice time. You don't get a lot of practice time on the road so today's actually a big day where he's going to get a chance to get back out there and get some five on five work done. We don't know if it's going to be one more if it's going to be two. Who More practices? But we're we're getting close to the end game now. We don't have a date circled but we're getting close to win you. Know he'll finally make his his regular season debut debut. How many times have you said endgame since this is all begun a lot? That's been a fun word for me everywhere. You go in the city right now. Hello everybody wants to ask you. When's ion comeback wins? I on coming back coming back. Alvin Gentry told a story a couple of weeks ago. He's in Walmart and a lady on a scooter walked up to him. It's like hey I see coach. Once I on coming back everybody wants to know when the saints loss on that Sunday in the playoffs I have four or five. I people text me right after. Hey come back tomorrow right like this is going to get better for us as fans and I'm like sorry guys people are just waiting for this debut is As much as they can so enter this all goes back to the preseason. Zion makes his debut against the Atlanta Hawks. He delivers I not just one. But three earth-shattering stays again Joe. That's not normal. The normal shooting over the course of his first four games he averages more than twenty three points shooting seventy one point four percent from the floor floor and then the unthinkable happens breaking news just four days before Zion's NBA career was scheduled to start sign. We'll miss a period of weeks because because of a right knee injury usually when you have a meniscus injury any sort of neander you can kind of point to. Hey it happened at this moment right here. You can't do that with Zion. He doesn't know when he hurt the knee. The pelicans don't know when he heard the knee and that's not just a like a PR spin on it. Nobody nobody knows when he heard this thing. It's very possible. He played at least one or two games with a torn meniscus. I think he had what twenty two. And Ten in that last game against the Spurs and it was only after that game where he kind of went to the training staff and was like. Hey guys Monique on a hertz. Maybe we can get this checked out and they thought it was just a regular routine gene thing they go get the MRI done and they're like. Oh we have an issue here. There was no swelling. He didn't really feel that much pain. It was more like something doesn't feel right in the knee and that's how it kind of started. He was clean when they got him in. preseason they think it happened in preseason. It's also not anything anything that goes back to his time at Duke. There's no lingering things there or or in some and they think it happened in the preseason. They just don't know exactly when so so the news comes out. Everybody's a little bit confused. What happens next before they go to that? Last preseason game in New York the the knicks the PELICANS announce hey he's outright knee soreness and it takes a couple of days before we figure out what is exactly going on and in part of the reason for that was they wanted to get different opinions from different doctors. It took a weekend and then they announce. Hey Hey he's having surgery. He had the surgery this morning. Everything is good. We're looking at a six to eight week timeline. The six to eight week timeline obviously would have been finished in December. And we're still. We're still waiting for that debut. But that's kind of where everything started right there so Andrew. How has the team handled Zion's rehabilitation process so this has been more than it being just about the knee? They have taken the time to look at Zion as a person Zion's body Zion's body type throughout this entire process. That's why you know when you look at six to eight weeks leaks that put us early to mid December but instead you know we're mid-january now or a month after that and we're still waiting. It's because they took their time time with his process. The knee is good. The knee is ready to go but they were working on the kinetic chain of his body. They're working on how much torque he's using. They're working on how he lands. They're working on how he walks and runs differently. Anybody who has been through any any sort of physical therapy knows when you go through. PT Your physical therapist will teach you how to reuse parts of your body. This isn't like Zion was like a toddler learn. They're like trying to teach him how to take his first step. They're tweaking things that he does. They're tweaking how he lands how to put less stress on his body. They're just trying trying to fix everything that they can. So that when he does take the court he has the same explosiveness that we saw before. I appreciate your calm. Rational description of these ion learning how to walk story because when it came out into everybody just about lost their minds. Zion is not your ordinary basketball player. Six seven two hundred eighty five pounds at age nineteen. That's a lot of week to try to slow down. He is built more like a football player. A defensive end and I think people look at him and they see a body type. That's unprecedented and they worry that that this injury could signify longer term problems. Were there any concerns about his body type or durability before he was drafted not so much they knew they were going to have to tweak a couple of things for him to eventually get to the level where he's playing consistently only eighty two games on a high level. He's going to have to make an investment in his body. The much the way Lebron does whether that's a personal chef whether that's having a trainer just for him those things will come along but the Pelicans are confident to to where they didn't think that you know because he six six to eighty five that they we're gonNA have these issues. They realized he was a one of one. That's likes to say a lot. The one of one so they were okay with where he was they. They just knew that they were going to have to have certain things in place to to be able to maintain his body along with him. One comparison that's come up a bit as ions been injured. Andrew Has Been Blake Griffin who is a similarly large strong guy who's had a lot of injuries. He's he missed his entire rookie season after suffering a knee injury David Griffin. GM of the. PELICANS has discussed this. What do you make of that comparison? I mean it's a pretty good one I think it's one of the best out there in terms of his body type any injury coming in his first year obviously blake had a much more more severe injury than what Zion had but just like Blake. Zion generates a lot of Torque in his body he generates he. He's a hard dunker. He's a I mean you just you hear his dunks throughout the arena when he when he throws it down even when he's doing in practice and Blake was a lot. I liked that early in his career now. Blake is still dealing with issues. So they're following a lot of what happened with Blake to make sure that don can go down a slightly different path to where he's going to be a little bit healthier when he's twenty nine thirty thirty one and for them hopefully still an annoyance. PELICANS UNIFORM SO Andrew Zion is out for weeks weeks turn into months and during this time. Well the PELICANS lose a lot of basketball ask ball. Games are at the bottom of the western conference seemingly with nothing to play for. Is there ever any talk in New Orleans of just sittings ion Dan for this season. Never they never had that thought not wants David Griffin is trying to build a culture of winning and they lost a a franchise record thirteen games in a row this year but there was never a thought of of shutting him down if he was healthy enough to play they were going going to play him after that. Thirteen game losing streak. They tweaked a couple of things. Defensively started to win some games. They're not going to just trade off these veterans that they have just because they're going to bring back because they WANNA win basketball games if they get the seat great if they fall short. That's fine too. But they are going to play okay to win games. And that's the kind of thing that Griffin has been Adamant.

"zion" Discussed on You're Wrong... And Here's Why

"And welcome to this week's episode of you're wrong and here's why I'm Chris where we're joined by Greg. Crone Gregory Houria. Another beautiful weird snowy snowy night over here in beautiful Pennsylvania Chris Beautiful Pennsylvania. Yes so you guys get to now. All of a sudden as as I was driving home I noticed a small amount of flurries and then as the next hour to win along some winter squalls Chris and Snow Squalls Elsa coding my driveway currently. But I don't think it's supposed to do or last much longer. Driveway Lottie DA. I know right Mr Mr Rockefeller No let's that's exciting. I think you know I've said this innumerable times but I miss snow in theory in theory in theory. Keyword there all right well this week thought about why the Pelicans are GonNa Richard Zion Williamson the season while the bills are going to beat the Patriots this weekend and why Madison Bumgarner is the best value so far and free agency. Let's start off with the New Orleans Talibans and and one Zion Williamson Zion Williamson the number one selection in the nineteen NBA draft. And I I were. He gets hurt after a pretty impressive summer league I would say and all of a sudden. There's a six to eight weeks time line and at this time on just keeps getting pushed back and pushed back and pushed back and pushed back and we're now past eight weeks. Zaylon is still not cleared to actually take part in five one five staff or do any any significant court trills. Greg this is this is a story. I've seen play out before we've seen. Oh He's is going to be ready in a couple of weeks. Don't worry about it when our teams tanking and that just never comes. I will say I check this out and I was surprised to see over at Bethesda sportsbook. They're actually plus twenty five hundred not amongst the twenty five thousand skews me not even the worst teams is in the NBA but there is just not a chance in the world. The PELICANS are going to Risk Zion's long-term future or quite frankly their draft pick and twenty twenty by playing this guy this year. Well I mean the question. The PELICANS have to face. Is You know especially with the guys they got in that in that Lakers the deal that sent Anthony Davis over how Zion's going to Gel with some of these guys and and I think that you know obviously you don't WanNa push him back from an injury early but I could definitely Italy see a post all-star break bringing this guy back and just letting him get used to the game. We saw firsthand me and you a sixers fan saw this play Out Year after year after year and it took such a weird adjustment period for some of these guys that set out like Ben Simmons like Joel Embiid. I took a little bit longer for them to kind of get their feet under them at the NBA level now. Obviously Zion is an unbelievably athletic kid and a lot of explosiveness. This is part of his game and I think that that's something the pelicans definitely have to monitor coming back from something like this and you don't want to exacerbate exacerbate an injury and obviously their seasons essentially over I mean there what sixteen games under five hundred already to start the season. They've lost a ton of games in a row. I think it's double digits at this point. It's you know the the hunt for the playoffs is obviously over but with the way the NBA draft is waded. Now tanking doesn't work as much so getting this guy even a little bit of run not only for the team but also for the fan base. I mean this is a guy. This is the Mo what. Let's let's be honest. This is probably the most hyped number one overall pick since Lebron. If we're going to be we're going to be perfectly honest here Just from the amount of media coverage the amount of focus he went to Duke. There's just so much focus on this guy to to not to not put him out there for a couple of games just to get his feet wet at the NBA level. I think is unfair. I don't think the Pelicans give a damn about getting him. acclimated playing with Josh Heart and Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram and Jackson Hayes and derrick favors. Whoever it is they want to put out there? You'll notice that I didn't mention drew holiday or JJ rennick because if you're if you're listening to the scuttle bought of late it seems like both of them could potentially be on the block. Why did you leave us? Jj why did you do it only to get traded and take your power out of your own hands. They're concerned about Zion long-term and you talk about the weighted it'd lottery system There's just -cation to that I get where you're coming from but the point is it's still better to have a better chance. You know if I I understand. It's not as drastic a difference. It has been in the past with more flat and lottery odds but worse team still have a better chance. And that's all you can really ask for. You know. There was never a scenario where that number one team was. Actually even the favorite to get the number one pick. The field was always the favourite because that that odds were what twenty five percent twenty six percent back in a pre weighted lottery. You know there. There was never any guarantees. And we've seen plenty of teams tank only to get the second pick in the draft third. Pick in the draft now God could be fifth. Pick in the draft if you're if you're New York Knicks Fan with RJ Barrett. Going four last year that he was hardcore. Tanking this is I on. This is all about Zion. This is about his future and who you're going to pair them with if you can add the James Wise Men are and Anthony Edwards or something along those lines. I I don't know how much percents Lamelo ball would make as he would potentially be taking a spot from his older brother but added Edwards or a Weisman. Come back next year and see what you got. But you're not risk nothing. I mean the problem is we've gone back and forth about market size and things like that with the Pelicans specifically is you. You're the risk of losing fan interest because of something like this though. It's not like the city of Philadelphia where you have you know a much. Larger pool pulled draw from a long rich tradition of basketball. You know going way back to the early fifties you're talking about you're talking about a Pelicans franchise that is relatively brand new in the in the you know the grand scheme of the NBA and to not have a guy like this out there to not not give him to not give the fans at least an opportunity to see him is is a really really difficult decision for me to watch them make. I mean it's not like like they're dropping ticket prices because he's not out there. You know what I mean. Those season tickets that skyrocketed remember all the stories in the videos of the ticket. Team going crazy when when they landed the number one pick those ticket. Prices are staying the same in you risk a lot when it comes to renewals and things like that from from a business standpoint by not having the sky play. I understand that the season's essentially over but how many games his rookie Zion Williamson really going to win this team. This team has contracts as constructed. It is not very good. They have pieces they definitely do. I mean drew's obviously a perennial. All Star at this. Point is one of the best young point guard gets. He's not young anymore. It's twenty nine. But he still a very very very good player in this league. And you outside of that I mean you do like you said you you have. Jj whatever derrick favors again. Nothing Great Brandon. Ingram is easily the best player on the team currently I mean the questions going to become as what do fans have to watch. What this team? If it's not Si- On pill you get Zion over the next. At least four. Three seasons you get a healthy sign you talk about fan interest waning and you know temporarily that may be the case but who cares hairs because the very second that guy steps onto the court it all goes away and that's all anybody who's GonNa WanNa talk about again and this team is going to be a lot more interesting thing if Anthony Edwards playing playing shooting guard instead of Josh Heart or JJ radic or somebody like that and then you genuinely have that young core for you know. A wise men might be weird fit just because they draft Jackson. Hey so high last year but a guy like Edwards gives you a potentially you. It's really interesting. Young trio of of Edwards Zaylon and Brandon Ingram. And then. Then you're onto something then you're not just a team that's interesting to watch because it was I on your team that potentially if everyone matures correctly becomes the team to reckon within the NBA. And what why would you risk you. We I think the only way the fan interest goes away is if you put this guy back on the court. He's exciting for game and a half then he lands wrong. Re Fractures chooses foot. And we're back to square one. That's how you lose fan excitement. Sure but what are the question becomes as he's two hundred eighty five pounds. I think the odds yet. But it's not GonNa Change. It's GonNa Change from this year to next year. It's not like all of a sudden ions going to become a felt to forty like if anything he's GonNa continue to grow into his body and potentially get bigger. I mean we're talking about a twenty year old kid right here. I mean you watch guys transform as they enter into the NBA. A and what their bodies become. Let's talk about a guy like Joel embiid. For example you know they come into the league. They add that wait they get bigger. I don't see Zion on shrinking anytime soon. So you're talking about worrying about something that can happen at any point. It's this is the same reason why I disagreed. Continuously with the sixers and what they did did with managing the injuries of Ben Simmons and managing the injuries of Jalil Okeafor nerlens. Noel and I guess Jalil wasn't injured but nerlens was an and even Joel embiid like we did this thing where we baby them and did for what exactly. Well I would argue. NCUA the Ben Simmons thing and I will believe this to my. My last breath was not the Philadelphia. Seventy sixers decision but rather the decision of his management management and Ben Simmons because I think they care about marketing and they wanted him to be able to be rookie of the year out. It's also because he didn't shoot three pointers and he doesn't shoot and he's not a shooter in what are you talking. What are you talking about? He's I think he's too for three but either way. Well he's I think he's actually two for five on real threes real threes real threes. I just wish he's the best shooter. Benson's will not have perfectly fine. You're incorrect but I mean let's think about the teams in New Orleans around. I mean they're in the much tougher western conference. I don't think Zion brings them anywhere near getting outside of that bottom autumn five or bottom six you know world in when it comes to the draft lottery. I just don't the team's not good enough to go in night in night out and beat teams. They're not going to be better. They're just they're just not. It's just it's not going to hurt their draft stock as much and getting this guy out there and letting their fans and see what the future holds. I think carries more weight I don't agree with that. I think this is you tank and you worry about it next this year. Are you at all surprised you. I mentioned the the Plus Twenty five thousand Pravada but are you at all surprised to learn that to win the championship. That plus plus twenty five thousand goes for both the PELICANS and the Memphis. Oh sorry the Memphis..

"Vernacular for Zion Woodson? We can't fully way bigger right right. I never used that one no thirty years. I've been -ffiliated with the League. I haven't heard that way better. The PELICANS have lost not ten nine eleven. Twelve thirteen game remember. There's a lot of people thought this is GonNa be play team. They had a nice collection of Lakers. All a lot of people like you easy Collie you adopted this team lost twelve thirteen in a row. Ever fix militancy there who made the playoffs offs. You do that how you have no idea. I'm worried about this would they don't WanNa hear his Zaza allows you to sit out the year. I don't WanNa hear that I really don't. It's just like you can't if he can play. Let's say in mid January. You're going to have him sit for three months of basketball. Skip all this is not good for him. Jacoby we've talked about this on this program already. Unfortunately I don't believe Zion Williamson ever play two games. He's nineteen years Seoul. Nineteen not twenty nine thirty nine and hasn't played. NBA debut yet. He's on a squad is go onto the lottery this on consecutive losing streak. I hate to bust your bubble and you hope to see him play in February and March and April but the franchise. You don't WanNa them get hurt his day at least look at Joel. He's never gonNA play two games but he's going to be an all star and he can potentially carry a team to a championship. Lured you in what was doing. It was called the process and they was in. Yeah that's what the penalty they lost. artigue daylight is whether to turn around. That's my point here because I think it's good for basketball. Players play the basketball. I remember Paul George hundred them play the end of that. Yes getting ready for the next. Yes that's what I would do was Georgia's built a lot different design and works well the warriors they had a full decade retrospective look back. Look back at the decade. The warriors had Shaun Livingston. Yeah I mean they had a very interesting decade some high dollar chips..

"In baseball if you had a rookie phenom pitcher back in the day they let him one hundred thirty pitches in a start if he shutout going they let him play pitch two hundred fifty innings and then his arm would fall off Dwight gooden when he was twenty years old was one of the best pitchers who ever lived and by the time he was twenty five effectively he was never elite again Zion Williams nowadays when a young pitcher comes up Felix Hernandez or Clayton Kershaw. Let's be careful let's limit the innings limit the pitcher qader and old-timers complain but you could argue whether it works or not the point is that's the era we're now in in basketball you got a guy like Zion Williamson you're not going to do open stuff like playing forty minutes a game eighty two games you gotta be careful and what this will do we'll make sure that even when there's something to play for and there's something on the line the Pelicans ranch is should keep the long-term in mind the cowboys have lost three in a row and White Amari Cooper has an ailing quad injury is Dallas in desperate times maybe are they in need of a boost definitely follow famer and cowboys legend Michael Irvin made it interesting suggestion two one five three the fans it'd be sitting here ride the high horse like we talk we need to e. l. p. right so real I don't care what kind of media relations with the public relations nightmare cold windy here saying I'll L. for alleged sexual misconduct it remains unclear if the League would put Brown on the Commissioner's exempt list welcome in front office insider Louis Riddick how are you doing today those comments they made me chuckle are what makes you chuckle about it because it's just ridiculous at this point look I understand that winning games is paramount and that's what everyone is after in the NFL and that's what you're charged to do and that's what you're after to do at some point in time though integrity and the character of your football team new organization has to count for something for something Antonio has shown that he really doesn't care about those things he may say that he cares about those think in regards to how you conduct yourself when the rubber meets the road so to speak isn't care about those things is he really what would be is he really would be what's best for football team that right now is struggling in terms of its identity in terms of its leadership in terms of how it is ultimately going to end up this season and see really what's best for them overall maybe on the football field at wide receiver there's no question he could help Antonio's uncomfortable he's one of the best wide receivers is not the best why received the NFL right now he probably come in right now Alan catch ten for one fifty it would have on its football team overall with that has come some other things he's already proven he's going to bring other table is that really worth it to you stephen a what do you what do you think do you think the cowboys should sign Antonio Brown riddick you're wrong okay and you and you look at the construct of this team in particular we're right now you tell me who that Alpha is that could keep a guy like Antonio Brown into like Tom Brady the New England page who couldn't even they couldn't keep them on the straight and narrow and even they made the determination that the negatives outweigh the positive I why would you bring your team more you're wrong on two fronts wrong with what you just said and let me explain what because Tom Brady didn't have a problem with Antonio Brown Bill Belichick and I'm told him I'd say he had a problem as well bill belichick am told him to shut up and and he went away from them and tweeted the woman and his own the field Tom Brady in terms of practice it with them in terms of gains she's been Tom Brady is still lamented the fact that he's gone that's point number one point number two I think his here's why here's the biggest reason I think you're wrong about the cowboys because you have Jason Garib c deficiency at the top whether it's what Max says about Jerry Jones whether it's what we all it took about three years ago.

"There was just one of those games where we just we we knew we weren't going to claim that that way and we had to raise our game up normally in playoff sweep. We raise the bar. We felt like we lowered the bar that game. I'm sure Lonzo appreciates the fact that after that game you said take time to be but he's still all champion sounds like did shipments right there when you have that forget it. I mean if that's how you feel after a win because standard so high there you go we talked about about in the previous segment about names. You called people in the locker room and apparently it wasn't just stacey king. It was also to yourself so there you go your teammate on that team. Steve Kerr it was asked about his current team the warriors and the Angelo Russell's role as a ball handler now that he's ready said about the new guy take a listen. I think you'll be good good off the ball. He's clever passer clever basketball player so he understands how to come off a pin down without Alpe ball and then once he gets in traffic in the pain he understands how to create either shot or or or get the ball back out to somebody who is is not covered. That's a big big deal so I'm really confident. He'll be able to play without without the ball for us. Thank you been with this team. In training camp the past few days who is going to be their primary ball handler is it Dangelo is because he steph curry with it the beauty of the worst system racist. They don't really have to pick one guy. It can be Steph. Sometimes it could be Russell. Sometimes it'd be draymond. Sometimes who comes up initiates the offense but they really liked the way that Russell has fit in so far. I talked to him the other day and he said it was like playing with Steph planning a video game and he's beaming. He says his phone lights up all day long people asking him. How cool is this like. What is just like for you to be around? Steph curry all the time and it's really interesting after practice the first one yesterday steps out there shooting like he always does who goes and finds him on the floor. Lor intakes. The role of the Katie had for most of last season the end zone Russell so we're also in courier building that chemistry now and that's only gonNA help them. Once the regular the season starts well. That was quite a compliment guy video game. I've experienced that too yeah but anyway I really see Russel really taking that pressure off of staff. He's dealt with injuries throughout out in. I just think this is going to give him a chance to play off the ball as much as he wants. He's a huge factor in terms of just running down the court using traffic just to get open shooting threes and I think Russell prove last season. He's one of the top guys in the League in terms of pick and roll just behind harding in Damian leaders so Russell in the ball and I think that's going to give him a chance to learn the team. Learn offense and just kinda see everybody's flow staff. Jeff knows everybody. He knows everything. That's going on offense but he's going to be good from a point guard standpoint. That Russell knows what's going on and reach the SCOTTIES point. Steve Kerr's already said we WANNA make the ends will as comfortable as he can be. We know how good he is in the pick and roll we'RE GONNA run more pick and roll than we have in the past. They don't want him to feel overwhelmed. I'm to start. They want him to feel like he's fitting into what they do but they want to be able to fit into what he does. The best man has anyone's basketball life changed more for in what three years the Russell right you're talking about. How happy is yeah. I remember I I read something of him last week saying that after the first couple like informal workouts he called home own. He called his parents. He was so excited about getting to be this and we think about back where he was when he left the Lakers I mean you said he called his. He said what am I really here right now. You're talking about a young man that came into the League. He's probably one of the most popular franchise so that's the high and then you get sent Brooklyn now. They take you put you low and now you're back at the top again you playing with a team that could contend for title so he's been quite a journey form to be able to play alongside stale in clay. This upcoming season is got to be on the maze and the way he left L. A. The Nick Young incident and then obviously rebuilding with Brooklyn all the success they had together and now this and there is this optimism around the team essentially optimism though it just feels different than it did last season and it just talked about you don't have anything hanging over them right back the tension that was there the last couple years guys it's gone and that tension was. We've got to win another title. We don't know what's going to happen but with K. D. down the line. The will hear won't he stay questions hovered around that team all year. We've got a close oracle in style. This is the last year in Oakland. This is the it's gotta be now all of a sudden. They're going to chase center and stuff touched on. This said we can create our own narrative now. They don't WanNa forget what they did know at Oracle and winning the titles titles but it's all new to them. It's a brand new team but I think this is the biggest key and this what people forget draymond got paid one hundred million dollars Klay Max deal. He got paid the Ngelo Russell Max deal he got paid steps in the middle of Omega Max deal. Kevon looney got paid. This team knows what its core is for the next few years. I'd argue the guy with the most pressure on him is the Angelo Russell and that's the guy who seems to be enjoying the most because it's a whole new setting. Any noses is with the team. That's at the top so it's really been interesting to see the adjustment from the beginning of training camp last year mentally to where they are right now. Oh Yeah and don't cry for the warriors ownership because the amount of money they will make at the center the ATM machine is. I like to call it. They'll cover all those contracts and like two nights. It'll be fine coming up. We're GONNA talk about last year's number. One overall pick de Ondre Aidan. He says he will definitely shoot more threes this season which is good because I think he shot four last season. Is that a smart art move but a seven footer we also have Zion highlight from Pelicans practice. It's what you want it to be. Just stay tuned. You'RE GONNA WANNA see this Geico Presents Monster Counseling Dracula. Tell me how.

"But the guy that you hear thrown out thrown around is Anthony Davis. I do not have. Zion as good of a prospect is Davis, though, that's not to say he can never be as good as Davis is or anything like that. But partially because I knew how Davis was going to work is offensive game. I think grew earlier than I expected, but Davis had that defensive player that your potential, which I do not see in Zion, and sadly is not all the way come to fruition in New Orleans. So then I would say the next one down, I, I'm kind of hesitant to talk as much about Odin even though I loved Odin more than Karl Anthony towns because of the way that things went for him, you know, like, because it was it was something that I didn't see coming with his body is lower body and everything else like that. But comparing Zion, too towns as prospects, is something that I found fascinating. Yeah. I think clearly at time towns is below Yana, or blow Zion to me, if I had to decide with my guess would be he doesn't make it to being a top-five NBA player because it's just becoming more of a parameter oriented league in without the. Jump shot. How many shots can he create? I don't think he's going to be a massive defensive difference, regular thinking you'd be totally solid there. But my guess would be he doesn't make an all defense team in his career could very easily be ROY in there. But it would he would be an even more rare archetype to do that than Draymond green and dream on people people have been looking for the next Draymond green for a long time, pretty much every shorter than average power forward with decent feet. Can thank my green for people thinking that they can that the guy's really good defensively. I think I can't be that. But nonetheless, drove on just has prouder natural intimation in hands and wingspan. So expect him to get to that level. I don't think is fair. And then because I don't expect him to develop a jump shot. That's really a threat, especially off the dribble and posting up. It's just kinda limited the impact that attritional big can have it's been a long, long time since a traditional pig has been in the mix for best player in the NBA or even a top five player you'll maybe Griffin with at that point for a year or two Dwight Howard. Powered, you'd have to go back to that level. K G, O, eight Tim Duncan and a lot of those guys a lot more defensive ability than Zion..

"Have to worry as much about getting blown by sin. They'll, they'll be no perfect match for him. But a small you just have to double team. You've no chance of stopping them at all at the small a big at least he's, he's huge. He can put his body on them a little bitty science. Gotta shoot over for me doesn't have really like much of a float or a hook shot game. What concerns me there is if Zion, let's say his catch is elbow or beyond I worry about I worry about the big defending in that much space. So that's gonna be that's gonna be an interesting. Interesting thing for him. I could see it both ways. It's also depend on where his game goes handle shot all that guy said, but it's I I'm fascinated with that, all of those matchups challenging it's going to be it's going to be blast. I mean, there's lots of figure out so feel the things I wanted to talk about with scien- just in the overall picture here, the comps I think are useful here because he's such unique player and. And looking at how those guys were used what they ended up being in the league. So here here, a few comps that I have form some on the higher ends or on the Lauren Blake Griffin when he first came out, I think is a pretty good conflict didn't really have much of a jump shot. What's over as we noted earlier, he's, he really developed one, but that was kind of an outlier for him to improve that much of your remember he was a fifty percent free throw shooter, believed when he was coming up, but it didn't have like a great jump hook game out, actually say that Zion is like a little bit more touch than him around the rim. But they're both pretty good passers for their size Zion much better than Blake was when he came up, Blake kind of evolved into being that as time went on, and obviously Blake it, and absolutely nuclear dunker. I would say, like in terms of his ability to dunk on people even more of a dunker than Zion. Zion probably been more of a pogo stick on the offensive glass in Zion. You know, Blake Griffin was like, two forty five to fifty you know, just your normal pretty jacked NBA power Ford, not to eighty five just can really just plod through guys. So that's one what do you think of that calm? I like it and it's so hard sometimes, and this will come up. I want to talk a little bit about the historical context with Zion of remembering where guys were that this is not like I don't think you're comparing him to Blake Griffin now or Blake Griffin at twenty five it's Blake Griffin when he came out Oklahoma Zion, also much more defensive potential..

"Has been scored down goes Zion Carolina's going the other way, but pay no attention to that. What's really important happening on the other free throw line? Just thirty six seconds into the game. Everyone watching in disbelief watch the left shoe of Zion. Williamson just explode, but it's the right knee that he is holding and everyone could see the shoe the reaction shots remarkable from around the arena and you'll see them in a moment. Again. There's I on going down this President Obama, and you can clearly see the words his shoe broke. And so was it just the shoot. Was there a significant injury? Those were the questions of the moment as I left the floor. The conversation would come afterward. The new stable. We don't know how long he'll be out. It puts everyone in. Estate of trying to figure it out while while you're playing an outstanding team. That's not a good situation. I mean, I was hoping so can't really. Actually, I mean, I'm just gonna pray matured Hopi joke. I thought it was gonna turn shoes and get out there. But. See he wasn't going to come back game lose Tucker. I was wearing Nike shoes. As you saw. Here's a statement from Nike. We are obviously concerned what to wish Ziona speedy recovery. The quality and performance of our products are of utmost importance while this is an isolated occurrence. We are working to identify the issue. Also working literally all night has been our Maria Taylor who did the game from the sideline last night and hasn't had slept. She joins us bright and early this morning. What is the very latest as of this moment Maria on Zion? Well, as of right now, greenie Duke basketball, they do have a practice at one forty five this afternoon. So we still haven't received word on how severe the injury is designed. But I was speaking to one Duke official after the game. And he did say that doctors are very optimistic, and I was told to that afterwards when coach K was addressing the team. He was very positive in his feedback to the guys and after speaking to RJ Barrett and cameras they all said, it was difficult making adjustments on the fly, but they're praying for their brother for their teammate. And hoping that he can make it back as soon as possible. I heard you on sportscenter a little while ago. And I love you to share some of this with our audience about the feeling that Zion has for his teammates, and they in return for him because so much of the conversation this morning. We'll be even if he's healthy enough to continue playing should he and I know you've got a very strong feeling about that last night. Well, I do greenie because zions a guy that loves to compete, and he he loves this team. And that's one thing that RJ was telling me even after he put the phone down. And we're still talking about him. He said, that's that's my brother like we love being on the court together. And I think it's important to know because we think of these guys as five stars that are, you know, all about themselves all the time. But for everything that I've seen from Zion. He is also about this team in wanting to make sure that they're successful. And I could even tell I was kind of in the corner while he was trying to see if he could get back on the court, and he kept jogging back and forth and testing out that knee, and you could tell like he wanted to be out there. And right now, you know, his teammates all of the concern that was on their face in the locker room stuck with me. They all made sure that they talked to them before they did media after the game. I mean, they're concerned was really with him, and whether or not he would be able to be okay to to be healthy at some point this season, and obviously for his future. But these are guys that get along. And that's something that should not go on notice. While we tell the story and obviously talk about whether or not he will continue to play the rest of the season. Now. Again, show practice early in the afternoon, if as any information between now, and then we know you will bring it to us Maria will be with us all morning long. Meanwhile, let's show you what happened in the rest of the game, which almost felt like an afterthought..
