1.22 Biography Edition: John Winthrop
"Hello and welcome to the political history of the united states episode one point twenty two biography edition john winthrop before we jump into our subject matter matter for today. I want to take just a moment to introduce a different kind of episode that i'm gonna be doing periodically seeing that. This is the first episode that i've done as a biography addition listen. I want to go ahead and explain what i plan to do. With these reoccurring episodes these episodes are going to be a bit different from what we've done so far and will exist largely largely as a supplement to the ongoing narrative what i really want to accomplish with. These biographies is to identify people who are going to be really important to our story moving forward. When i say really important i mean the people who are going to fundamentally shape the united states. These are the people whose actions are largely going to come to define the american experience syrians. This is not going to be a comprehensive list of people who do important things either but rather people who i chose to go more in depth on personally otherwise is when we get to the american revolution. This podcast would be nothing but biography after biography. I'll tell you right now that i'm gonna do my best to focus on those figures that might not get as much attention attention as they should. I would anticipate that. There's going to be just a couple of these every season. There may be some season with more. There may be some seasons without any at all as far as what we are going to be discussing. These biography episodes will also feature a little bit of a different structure instead of going into huge amounts of detail about out there laws and everything they did. I'm looking more to give a broad overview of their life and their accomplishments as four specific events that are critical to our story. Those are going going to be taken care of largely through the narrative itself. My hope is that when these people enter into the narrative you've already got the background on the person to know that they're going to be super important. These episodes therefore are going to be structured in such a way that we are going to basically have two parts. The first part is going to be moving through a general history of that person's life their accomplishments accomplishments failures philosophies and beliefs. The second part of the episode is going to be spent discussing their legacy and why they're important. I always hate when you're told that of somebody is really important in history and it is just left at that. Is somebody gets a biography on this podcast rest assured that at the end i'm going to make sure you know what their legacy is and why they're worth remembering. That should be enough talking about the show. Let's go ahead and move on into today's topic. Almost from the moment that he arrived in new england in sixteen thirty john winthrop would become amongst the most influential colonists winthrop a highly religious this lawyer from england view the world through a highly religious lens appeared on hulu become disturbed with the state of affairs in england under king charles. The first winthrop would view his immigration to new england as nothing short of a biblical journey rat out of exodus. It is out of this that winthrop would write a sermon entitled a model of christian charity in this he referred to new england as being the city upon the hill this ideal the thought of at the time just new england glennbeck later the country itself as being a city on the hill is something that has become deeply ingrained in the american ethos as recently as ronald reagan reagan in the nineteen eighties. The city on the hill has continued to play an important role in american politics in so many ways the idea of a city on a hill encapsulated loyd's what the united states itself aspires to be joan went through was born on january twentieth fifteen eighty seven in the village of groton located in suffolk green is located to the northeast of london and around fifty miles east of cambridge winthrop was born into a family of some means his father was a local lawyer and this means that it afforded him degree of privilege as a child when he was fourteen years old young was ready to enter into the university and he would soon enroll at cambridge. Cambridge winthrop would find himself in an environment that was decidedly pro pure it a position that winthrop himself would have already been. I'm familiar with through his father. Winthrop spent his youth in that hotbed appeared an activity that was southeastern england recall from less than that. This is the area area the puritan movement truly flourished and expanded it following cambridge winter became a justice of the peace in suffolk. This was a position of relatively high stature stature and moved winthrop into a more influential role this position made through a local leader and put him in a position suffolk where he had the power to help influence local policy it also gave through at least a peek at the practical functioning of a government something that is going to be very important years in the future in his role as the governor of massachusetts massachusetts by all accounts winthrop remained consistently concerned that his actions were not sufficiently serving god winthrop would ride that he was offering concerned that he was not doing enough in his position to promote godliness. This is something that seems to genuinely concerned him and later would be an important consideration when he goes to new england it when there was a scrubber to the idea that the best method to help keep saying obey was with a schedule so busy that his would be kept pure this means that his days were always highly structured events warnings of prayers work in business later in the day and capping the night off engaged in study was the name of the game for winthrop in his personal. Life winthrop was no stranger to grief either winthrop's first wife. Mary fourth died in sixteen fifteen shortly after her death with rope. Put mary again however within a year. His new wife would also be dead. It's sixteen eighteen married. Margaret tyndall didn't would survive longer than winthrop's. I do wives lives surviving until sixteen forty seven but the time that sixteen twenty eight rolled around when throws career was flourishing with rope was considering a move to london and by that time had become an attorney of the court of wards and liveries this was the position that for most people would have been the highlight of their career at the the same time however not always right with ropes world as we discussed last week throughout the sixteen twenty s the puritans in england. We're getting increasingly nervous about the way things were headed. The current movement of the church of england in a decidedly non calvinism direction had winthrop concern that such a move had england on the road to damnation in simple terms winthrop saw reform in the church as the path to salvation. If england continue down the path it was on that was going to result in the wrath of god being brought down upon in england and her subjects. When there had considered immigration before a one point he was considering going to ireland winthrop's ireland as a place where the enlightened englishmen could go and worship freely difficulties and selling his matter in groton would ultimately kill winthrop's plans to move to ireland what we get from this episode code however is the idea of leaving england was something that was always on the mind of winthrop the entire experience of considering a move to ireland took place sometime around sixteen twenty the three by the time sixteen twenty eight rolls around england is in a much more precarious place for the puritans charles by this point was looking more and more like an undercover catholic catholic and at the very least seemed interested in stamping out calvinism throughout england ireland may have fizzled but for john winthrop he was clearly worried about the direction of england and was open to the idea of leaving as for how winthrop learned about the massachusetts bay company that is something that has been largely lost a history was hanging out in london during the late sixteen twenty and was likely in contact with several people who were at least sympathetic to the cause of those looking ahead to new england if not personally involved it was aware of the preaching of john white who if you recall from last time was one of the main driving forces behind reorganising the dorchester company into the massachusetts bay company winthrop soon found himself at the forefront of a group that was looking at new england as a place to escape the growing hostility in the religious situation that was developing throughout throughout england in some ways it is surprising that winthrop would decide to immigrate to new england. This is sixteen twenty and sixteen twenty nine. Now there is no doubt about the condition of life in north america with rope an educated man would have known about the disasters at roanoke we knew about the starving jamestown the struggles and the high death rate in early early plymouth plus. Let's not forget the sixteen twenty two massacre in jamestown that had become sensational news back in england with rube strengths. Were quick to remind him as well that this was a a really bad idea at this point. They're basically saying to him. John what are you doing. You're not a young guy anymore and basically everybody who goes to north american dies. This is is it going to end. Well don't go joanne. Throw pover- had a few things going for. I he was increasingly prominent in england and may have seen going to new england as a chance to increase his personal influence. If wonder up wanted to remake the world around him the chances of accomplishing that in england during this period are extraordinarily slim. Yes he was influential but that influence only went so far in new england however winthrop could position himself in the central place where he would actually have the ability ability to create the new society that he so desired secondly. The massachusetts bay colony was going to prove to have a big difference. It certainly didn't hurt his interest that the leadership the colony was not going to be based in london like previous companies but in massachusetts itself this means that the ultimate decision orders weren't gonna be coming from the investors in london who had never seen milan or the conditions on the ground rather the colony was going to be run directly from massachusetts the decisions being made. We're going to flow out of actual real the world conditions at that moment and knock greedy investors it also meant that the colony was going to have a degree of tiny that neither jamestown nor plymouth ever for new the autonomy meant that massachusetts was going to have a much greater say in their own dealings and in the direction that their new society was going to move for a man like john winthrop through seems genuinely concerned with building a better society. This must have seemed like a dream come true if that all accounts show that it was right around the same time late july sixteen twenty nate that the company was seeking to move corporate headquarters to massachusetts and that's right about the time that winter a really becomes involved in the project personally the decision to move the headquarters from england to new england was not without political difficulty and in fact look to be something of a minor coup the puritans were not only interested in moving the headquarters but then pershing out those who disagreed with general plan winthrop unsurprisingly was all for this and throughout the planning for the transfer of the company to the new colony winthrop emerged as a leader a position that he's going to hold for much of the remainder of his life once went through personally made the decision to emigrate probably during the summer of sixteen twenty eight he quickly quickly found himself not only a leader but one of the primary promoters of the company winthrop wrote a document called the general observations which was meant to be a laundry list of the reasons for going into new england. This document became widely circulated. Amongst the relevant groups was one of the primary pieces of propaganda to get people on board with the idea of immigrating among among the ideas espoused in the general observations were one bring the gospel into america and raise a bulwark against the kingdom of the anti christ to go to a place of refuge from judgement of god that was about to descend on europe in light of the thirty years war three escape. The overpopulation of england england four escaped the growing inflation problem in england now just to interject briefly here. This may well be referring to the growing economic issues throughout throughout the region recall back from two episodes ago we had actually discussed the textile collapse that was devastating. The economy southeastern england five get away from oxford and cambridge and they're increasingly corrupt practices and teaching six god has given them the entire new world to go and improve and to once again. It's your jet here. All that uninhabited land just sitting there was wasting away against god's will it was in with rips mind their job to improve the land now of course he may be saying that the land wasn't an inhabited that the indians were there however for winthrop that doesn't really seem to count as of this moment. Nobody really recognizes can ask the indians had much right over the land. Don't worry that this belief will soon be challenged and that's something that we're going to have to wait until next time to address. Seven those going to new england would have the chance to lay the foundations of a new church eight. This entire observation ended with a plea from winthrop trip that basically positions the trip to new england as some kind of a mission. It was something that they had to do. The takeaway from from this seems pretty straightforward. England was an overcrowded pit of despair filled with heathens and a faltering economy new england offered a decent chance to escape this and start over again at the foundations of a new and better society by august of six twenty nine winthrop was one of a handful of men who had signed an agreement agreement to wrap up their business in england and agreed to make the voyage to settle new england throughout the summer of sixteen twenty nine meetings and negotiations continued towards the ultimate goal of moving moving the headquarters of the corporation to massachusetts for all of his work over the past year winthrop found himself elected governor of the colony on october twentieth sixteen twenty nine. It is a position that he would hold off and on for the rest of his life. It was decided that winthrop would initially travel alone. His wife would be following in the future sure she was pregnant. At the time drain his time as governor will still in england winthrop was involved in the actions of negotiating with those investors in england that didn't plan on going along to new england in flowery language winthrop told the investors that look the company is moving to new england. You guys aren't going to have a say in matters do the right thing. Take take the settlement and drop your interests. Oh and by the way god is watching you well. He was not entirely successful of pershing all of the lenin investors who will continue to cause problems for him in the coming years. He did manage to eliminate the majority of them. Thus ensuring more power would find itself centered in massachusetts and not back in london finally on april eighth sixteen thirty when th rope along with seven hundred other colonists would leave england and embark on a journey to the new world it is at roughly the same time that he left england that winthrop would deliver the sermon that would cement his legacy though unclear if the sermon malysz given in england shortly before the departure on the trip over or even possibly new england itself winthrop delivered a sermon known as the model of christian charity the sermon offered nothing in the way of plans for the colony a declaration of what the government structure should be or really anything that would be of any practical use in the colony when did deliver however was a vision for what new england should be. The model of christian charity was one of three works which was primarily aimed at stayed in the goals of the new immigrants to massachusetts. Their goals were twofold. They wanted to lay out what their mission was. The mission was to go over and work actively towards reforming forming the church these works the other being god's promised to his plantation by john cotton and the humble request which was also by winthrop sought to establish avenue that will reforming the church was the main priority they were not separatists when the rope and company had no plans to separate from the church of england they wanted to make that clear to everybody involved winthrop and those involved wanted to make sure that everybody backing lennon understood that they were all working for the same team in the model of christian charity winthrop will conclude by saying we shall find that the god of israel is among us when ten of us show be able to resist a thousand of our enemies enemies when he shall make us appraising glory that men shall say of succeeding plantations the lord make it likely that of new england four four we must consider that we as a city upon a hill the eyes of all the people are upon us so that if we shall deal falsely with our god in this work we we have undertaken and so caused him to withdraw his president help from us. We shall be made a story and b word through the world. We shall open the mouths of enemies. He's to speak evil of the way of god and all the professors for god's sake we shall shame the faces of many of god's worthy servants and caused their prayers to be turned into curses upon us to we become consumed out of the good land whether we are going the line from that speech for we must consider that we shelby as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all the people are upon us has the place as one of the most famous lines in american history. It serves almost <music> as a mission statement for what the united states itself wants to stand for today. The legacy of the line is so often portrayed in terms of democracy eighty or the moral attitudes of the united states which genuinely really is not winthrop had intended however the fact remains that the simple line by winthrop has withstood the the test of time and remains one of the building blocks that the united states recipe poetic sermons aside winthrop still is a columnist travelling to a harsh and unforgiving land after an initial dispute over the location of the colony in salem winthrop personally relocated to a new settlement off the charles river near massachusetts massachusetts bay in what would become boston winthrop's next task was going to be the establishment of a government. We talked last time about the government that was established in new england. The freemen who were members of the church had a vote for the assistant magistrates those magistrates would then vote for the office of governor it is important do not get carried away here and begin thinking that john winthrop was in any fashion early republican and just a quick note here on terminology because i want to be clear about this until we basically reached the civil a war. If you hear me mentioned republicans please no. I'm referring to small are republicans. In other words. These are not members of the modern republican party but rather these are those who advocate the creation of republic got it good terminology side. John winthrop was no republican winthrop government. It was essentially a limited democratic dictatorship sure members of the church did get a vote for their leaders but that's where democracy ended. This was not a complex complex form of government in fact it was unbelievably simple vote for the guy you want and then up until the next election they are going to have near absolute power additionally with was not a supporter of universal suffrage he in fact did all he could to limit the electric winthrop insisted that only those freeman men who were members of the church could vote this of course is going to have a widespread chilling effect members outta the church would have no voice in government likewise likewise by limiting who could vote it should the church would remain powerful. This isn't to say that when through wanted to establish anything looking like a theocracy instead he wanted wanted to limit suffrage to men whom he knew would support the puritan way of life in this way winthrop had not established democracy where the people act as the source the power rather winthrop had designed a system where a small group of loyal men tied more centrally to the church would become the source from which power could be obtained so sure john winthrop was willing to let church members be part of the electorate but at the same time is going to be a vast overstatement to refer to winthrop rope as being a pro republican or even particularly democratic the power of the governor which more often than not met winthrop had full rights over both the practical tactical function of the colony and the legislative function in terms of legislative action there was relatively little early in the colony law and order was important but they already had a law code the bible winthrop turn to the bible asses legal code and was sufficiently satisfied to simply follow out the punishments prescribed within initially during those early years winthrop would develop a rivalry with thomas dudley dudley would often find himself at odds with winthrop deadly repeatedly call that winthrop's policies then would become a general pain in the side of john winthrop biggest conflict between the men came over the laws. Both men supported the bible was there legal basis winthrop took a more lenient view understanding that colonial life was harsh winthrop supported acting in a manner that gave more lenient punishments deadly looking at this said. Hey we have a covenant with god. Who are you to disobey him when he came up with these punishments. Do you see a list of exceptions lunacy yeah me neither eventually winthrop would lose out and with those the governorship over these debates but don't feel too bad for winthrop. He is going to be back as governor soon enough well. There's really goes to show hover is that it's not like winthrop exists on an island in the colony. He does does have to deal with political pressures of the day and navigate the seas like anybody else. Ultimately with rope would become something of a moderate politically wedged in between the the more conservative thomas dudley who we've been talking about and eventually the more liberal minded roger williams who we are going to talk about in depth next time this isn't to say that winthrop would be a moderate by contemporary standards because no he really isn't but at this moment he found himself occupying that position this also moves us to a more central point about the politics and the beliefs of john winthrop winthrop often talks about covenants between the settlers and god this dominated the worldview of winthrop and was something that seemed always to be at the forefront of his policies in winthrop's mind. The people had an agreement with god in some ways this this is not terribly dissimilar from the political thought a century later during the american revolution john locke one of the biggest influences in the revolution believed that a social contract contract existed between the individual and their government. This is a very popular line of thought throughout the age of enlightenment and would be a central theme of the entire era winthrop's beliefs are not that out of line with this however he views the contract not as one between a body politic and the government but rather with god god as the sovereign in other words. There was a social contract between everybody and god and again. This is not to say that winthrop is some enlightened enlightened thinker. The guy really isn't winthrop was as previously discussed anti-democratic at his very core. If winthrop would right at one point that a democrat is amongst the most vile nations accounted the meanest and worst of all forms of government because i already said it once i want to be clear that democrat macron in this instance is a small democrat in this fashion winter viewed politics with a top down approach. There is a compact between god and the people as part of that government arises and liberty is something that comes from the government itself. The takeaway from all of this is that will well. It is tempting to try and make winthrop into some pro republican. He just isn't winthrop believed in a system that was top heavy power flow down from god through through the government and then eventually reached the individual god was the sovereign all power originated with him in idea like the people being the sovereign would have been ludicrous to winthrop so when looking at winthrop it is important to always keep in mind what he was and what he wasn't as much watches we want to shoehorn winthrop into enlightened voice. Preaching democracy winthrop wasn't that and shouldn't be seen as such winthrop's policies are rooted in the bible able not in the enlightenment for when throughout the chief argument against him over the years. We'll continue to be his relative leniency. The argument which began again with thomas dudley would continue as a running narrative through the later part of the sixteenth thirties despite the ongoing controversy winter would become governor again in the later half of the sixteenth thirties when throughput alternately forced and says the governor of massachusetts for a total of twelve years when ups chief concern remained the risk of separatism well certainly believed in reforming the church he would remain a staunch anti-separatists for the remainder of his life. This would often lead to tension between the the more separatist leaning members of the colony. This is going to be of particular importance to one dealing with roger. Williams williams was in comparison to winthrop. Nothing thinks short of a radical in his ideology a fierce separatists williams would into bouncing from church to church. None of them reached the level of purity that he was seeking. We are going to go ahead and leave roger williams alone for now however he is going to get his time in the next episode. It is the injured play however of these two men in that is really going to set the stage for some of the biggest controversies of the day and we're gonna see more of that next week for winthrop he would spend much of the rest of his career attempting into perry the repeated attempts to change the religious direction of the colony in two episodes time we are going to dig deeper into the increasingly complex religious situation in new england during the later half of the sixteen thirty s and moving into the sixteen forty s these attempts to steer the religious direction of the colony are always going to remain the most important thing for winthrop as you'll see drain that episode winthrop would spend the rest of his life right in the thick of the religious debate around new england well practical governance was was a pretty huge part of what he did after all the guy is the colonial governor in harshened unforgiving land he always remained tightly tethered to his puritan beliefs every decision he made was directed at maintaining the religious order that he helped established upon arrival in massachusetts however keep in mind that despite winthrop using religion as the basis for basically everything including how he runs the government he is not in favor of theocracy in fact winthrop was distinctly aware of the dangers that come with a theocracy and actively sought to avoid it and this makes sense think back to the origins of where the puritans come from cacophonous. They're coming out of the reformation. The entire purpose of the reformation is because the catholic church hierarchy had become so corrupt in the eyes of people liked luther so for winter he wants to avoid letting that kind of hierarchical structure form where the government and the church are so closely intertwined winthrop winthrop recognized the danger of having the church and the government being the same entity when they're wanted a government that would be protective of religion the government guided by religion however the church needed to remain separate of government and went through new it the church had no official authority in the government government and the government was careful not to allow the church to affect civil rights winthrop spent much of the sixteen forty s working through twin crises. The first question is was going to remain in massachusetts to begin with king charles finally relented and called for parliament that the great migration that had been going now for a decade not only ended if threatened to reverse course with parliament meeting again the doors were open to return to england however for winthrop he viewed his place as being in massachusetts wither had built something in massachusetts heat viewed his place in the world as remaining in the new world and working on supporting his more pure church at the same time however a crippling depression hit the colony in the sixteen forty s this depression that winter was personally forced to sell large amounts of his property property to pay his personal debts now without going into detail. The loss of his money was largely not winthrop's fault personally one of them in that he he had put in charge of helping rented the state's james lectured was basically really awful business and possibly corrupt lectured begun taking out large loans in winthrop's name loans loans that winthrop would never be able to pay back ultimately he costs winthrop huge amounts of money and lead with up to selling off large amounts of his property to pay back the debts winthrop had spent spent his entire life battling to create a better society through a more pure church by the summer of sixteen forty eight however winthrop's health had begun to decline despite this however for he does appear to remain a leading member of the colony throughout the year by february of sixteen forty nine winthrop had developed a fever and a cough winthrop would battle on for for another month on march twenty six sixteen forty nine. John winthrop died. What is the legacy of john winthrop winter. A clearly clearly is amongst the most important colonial founders he was often on in charge of the massachusetts bay colony nearly his entire time in america however being the governor alone is not really what makes winthrop a standout john winthrop came to massachusetts to create a society that he viewed as being more pure appear absent was the corruption of england instead what was left was a land where a more peer church could be created and flourish by and large he accomplished it sure he was always fighting a battle with separatist factions but winthrop had created a church that he at least would have you as far better than anything that had existed prior to him leaving england more than anything however the legacy of john winthrop survives through his single line in the model of christian charity. The idea <music> of a city on a hill is something that has remained incredibly enduring throughout the history of the united states in many ways it is almost like a mission statement for what the united states strives to stand for though originally written for settlers heading to the massachusetts bay colony it has become something that even to this day stands benzes a guiding mission of the united states john f kennedy ronald reagan george w bush barack obama are just some of the future presidents that would quote that line from winthrop even as i was sitting around writing this very episode. I saw an interview on t._v. Where a member of the house giving an interview with talking about the united states' it's position as a shining beacon on the hill. A common variant of the speech politically winthrop in his time ended up being something of a moderate within massachusetts. It's that is not to say over that. He was a moderate by any modern standards likewise as tempting as it is to try and tell with rope as a product of the enlightenment heat. He just really isn't sure he talks about there being a covenant which is a similar idea to the social contract with rope however always viewed power as something that comes from the the top and moves down this was it a social contract whereby the people had the power and agree to be governed instead. The power in this situation comes from god. Everybody below had better fall in line. Winthrop shows this in his creation of the government in massachusetts sure he makes it more democratic. He allows for a limited popular vote. However once voted into power that person was nearly absolute in their power winthrop would light it on this over time time much because necessity demanded it but at no point would you consider winthrop to be a particular proponent of democracy. Finally i want to mention the impressive aggressive legacy. That winthrop has left behind in terms of descendants. The winter family has remained a powerful political force throughout american history among the several important members of the family. You have robert winthrop the speaker of the house in the late eighteen forty s rubber with rope was the four-times great grandson grandson of john winthrop and just in case. You don't think the winter of family is still a force former senator from massachusetts secretary of state and democratic acquatic presidential candidate. John kerry is the eight time great grandchild of john winthrop so even after all these years. The winthrop family remains very much alive. I and politically influential well. John winthrop may have fallen short on the ladder in terms of forming a more revolutionary society winthrop's words continued to serve as something that the united states strives to be it is how the united states wants the world to view it and for that we have john winthrop to i think next time we are going to move on to the second biography episode of the show if john winthrop was a moderate than roger. Williams must have seemed like a radical in two weeks time we are going to dive in and start looking at the man who is so often at odds with john winthrop and who would ultimately earn his place as one of the earliest founding fathers until then i wanna thank you for listening and i will see you back here in two weeks as we look at the life of roger williams <music>.

A lot tests must be traveling shifts. And Sean has gone so far into the degen's only space little and he's sitting on video games. We know. Your Dad doesn't listen off season because there's no way there's no way you would disgrace the green family name. Well here's what I was putting together the Sunday funday column. But he's got like a bad ass earing like if Harry Potter got into like Ecstasy and energy drinks and it was kind of a raver. That's kind of the look he has going. And then someone hit us up accurately podcast big fan of the show also an eagles fan and he goes dude. Crowd is even on that team anymore. You GotTa let me start writing the East Sports. So in the spirit of take a look for his look for his debut here. It is the fastest growing sport in the world. Yeah and again because of this growing market also more than you have. Yeah really I mean. It's one of those like gimmicks statistics when you're like when you're not that big and then you become just massive. That's a large percentage speaking to gimmicks bites bracket plowing. Along Kramer. You have your first ever matchup here your your what the fuck. Currently we see it as a four seed in the Joe Buck region going head to head with secure sound drop which is slated at thirteen. I thought it'd be closer right now. Kramer what the fuck is really plowing ahead. I thought this is where we would see our first upset. It started off Chaki as we would imagine in the bites bracket. But we're continuing account. Dan So make sure you. Head over to accurately podcast. I'm Sur- mad the X. files music lost you you. I mean that was an interesting one because it really kind of depends on what your rating these things on. Because that's one of the strongest places here and real quick. Boston capper was very upset. Yes about the committee seating. Was it of the the boat trip music? I think it was the X. Files Yeah and when the committee was having a moment of reflection earliest part of the committee I was like. Yeah but I think we stuck to the songs just don't they can't be as highly ranked they just can't be in the song hurts you in the little because it's the stuff we talk over so. I think the songs are getting unfair credit because they're tied to funny rants our phone count as a song. Well again this is a lot of this decision behind the doors that the committee is a song. I'm on board there but the X. files wanted to. We could use your help here in the committee right again that his feelings hurt that. You didn't show up for the committee meetings. So she here and now tomorrow or depending on when you're listening to this but we're going to see some real action here we got some five twelve matchups hot hot hot going up against a Like me some glory hole so that should be a fun match up and then in the other region thank you for participating in the sport team pack has going up against lack doug tease. It's still anyone's bites bracket We're working on getting a leaderboard going for you guys as well so can make a confession voted for Shapiro really. Yeah I mean this offset needs i. Here's the thing when the Sam Bradford sound effect that I authored comes up. I am definitely going to be voting against it because of the matchup it has against Long Cox so even though I'd like to see it move on and I like making fun of Sam. Bradford don't get me wrong. I worry that the Sam Bradford drop is past its prime. Now I'm going to disagree is always fun to me Sam. Bradford especially when you look at he. I think he was him and Joe. Thomas maybe slightly edged out as far as the person who's made the most money without playing one playoff snap. I did a deep dive on it and but I think what happened was that last piece of guaranteed money that he got from the cardinals. Jesus Christ why were they ever paying him? But I think that actually beat him. Edgy edged out. Joe Thomas Who Joe. Thomas is going to be a first ballot hall of Famer. It's really crazy that that's how old is Sam. Bradford right now because I feel like the XFL CFL can still come calling here. Why would why would he ever? He's still has thirty two years. Old Guy still has a good six year window. Tom Brady is forty two well stoops. Who'S THE JOE? Daley Jones went down. There could be a real old faithful. Great Sam Bradford won it back in and just started bawling. Why wouldn't he because he has a ton of money and he doesn't like playing all the cylinders he's hiking in in Europe as well. That could be the reason. Why maybe within? Well yeah you need funding like brokeback mountain over there? But knowing Sam Bradford he's his leg probably got stuck in a bolder and he's all alone twenty-seven hours to decide whether or not to cut his off forty seven hours forty four hundred twenty seven hours. You're both idiots. That's why we have last two days. Four forty seven hours wouldn't be this like okay. Twenty seven hours that's just like you successfully. Forty-seven seven hours without meat right and you're still alive. I can go forty seven hours without a lot of things. Well I don't WanNa know what else is going to. I thought it'd be funny to say water. And Pussy to essentials you know what else does essential getting great value and you can do that over. Will will fund ourselves Ryan some props up futures? I think it'll be fun at a nice little element to the The podcast and some corporate investments. Let's do it. Let's start breaking it down. We're GONNA hit some of these smaller conferences. That are tipping off here in the next couple of days. Can you believe they let every conference get a team into the tournament? Can you believe how are we supposed to last system? If everyone gets a chance enters over here trying to get some five star review should going all in on trump hashtag. Joe Biden's the truth. We all know when everyone's got a voice at the table The rain. Of course those making funny and I you know I'm making. It's still like you see his eye twitching uses Kramer head over the Atlantic Sun. Walk US through the conference. So you're GonNa make me do that. Okay Cool Atlantic Sun I learned this is being played in. Fort Myers Florida. How far is that from your rental property? Close enough why you want to go check it out you can hang out mom and POPs mom and POPs real money. Grabber quick sidebar. I think the xfl battle hawks are in the running for a possible road trip destination. I mean we should fans are jumping through flaming table. They got thirty thousand people in the dome. You see the shirts Kokos. Yeah I mean it sounds like an awesome game day experience. So we'll say put that as a possibility. They've had what they've got to. Now you can see. They can maintain the whole season. Maybe when roughneck fever comes to town now that is something I can get involved. That's a matchup. Hopefully it's safe to travel at that point but this this This alantic tournament is being played in. Fort Myers Florida March third fifth and eighth the odds stacking up like we got a chalky favorite liberty minus three fifty. I know that they are in the top seventy for Kemp so there are a real team nor North Florida. Plus Four Twenty Lips. Come plus twenty two hundred. We've had. We've heard of them before I wanted to make sure. I'm David North Alabama and Jacksonville. Fifty to one Stetson one hundred to one engine. Njit one twenty five to one and article. John Coast Universe. One hundred fifty to one what what happened there. Joe Dooley Went East Carolina. It'd be the head coach. Put these teams together. We'll liberty actually football and basketball is something to watch. They've been quickly jumping up conferences. They seem out cloudy tons of money. Jerry Falwell so I expect liberty to be like in the sun better conference a pretty soon. I just this is a strange collection of teams liberty again. My Kim palm data highly recommended not not not getting paid to say this sean again. I'm GONNA get an email from you after the show but if you're betting on college basketball lots of data over their highly recommended very cheap paywall pay for it You'RE WELCOME LIBERTY. Twenty seven and four the clear favourite but they are tied with North Florida. And Yeah I love the. I'm going big on the North Florida. Ospreys twenty-five barking dogs. No you aren't here's why do dare dominant offensively. Seventy eight point one points. A game lead the conference by a wide margin. They're also hitting threes. They're averaging twelve three points a game very consistent from the foul line seventy six and a half percent. Here's the thing it seems like. It's these two teams every other team. So that's exactly what it is. Well okay so they get to the finals. You're not going to be able to get four twenty five in the championship game. Three hundred to fifty. Sure about though yeah. Stetson did beat South Carolina this year. What is isn't that a hat company Cologne Stetson Cologne on. I'm going North Florida ospreys. I like the underdog aspect. I don't WanNa lay three fifty four conference tournament unless it's truly a sure thing and I don't. I don't see it here. Liberties value here. Liberty is legit north. Florida I still think pretender. I know they won once against liberty. But I just think liberty is the team to beat. They almost beat. Lsu At Lsu They got Caleb Helmsley. This dude was a study a couple of years ago when when when liberty made the tournament. I'm trying to tell you something about the conflict. Outdoor hats boots. This is some sort of lifestyle cowboy in Andrew Luck might be quite a bit of shopping. Dotcom it looks a lot like something boy Andrew. Look I mean I'm with Koby I think chalk for a reason I I know. Sometimes it's fun to take a long shot and one of these. This is not. This is not the conference to do that this year but North Florida's not crazy conference to do that at. Nfl aspirations are hitting their threes. Look out liberty runs a defensive minded team and that's but if you're hitting open shots you can say it's the flames hand down hot. The flames stay hot liberty will dictate the tempo. They are one of the slowest pace teams in the country. They might pay their players because Falwell's got endless money and he's he wasn't he linked to the Russia trump deal somehow athletic team teams down. There are coming out of nowhere. If you've ever been a ton of money behind these sports just got some breaking news to see the Youtube Chat Room. Matthew Hansen coming in with a nice. Let's go ospreys birds of trae talk so awesome totally in now. I'm actually look. I'm a one man. One Bird Man. What does that come on now? man. I thought you were GONNA say softballs on the TV. You guys bail. Yeah give me liberty all the way. They're the only real. They're the only real team here. North Florida's offense will get stifled by liberties defense and the tempo thought he was going to say as one bird is the tofurkey. Oh come on you walked into the Iran. Joe It's not a good job. Well that's what I sold the company act out all right. We DO ENOUGH. Atlantic Sonntag Sean. You're better than that. Let's move on to the big south. This is of course played at campus sites. Sean what does that mean well? Don't they're not cool enough to have a fancy neutral site stadium so they just use their home courts. This will be played on March Third Fifth Sixth and eighth we have Radford of course the horrors of Radford Return at plus one twenty the co-favorite with winthrop winthrop winthrop gardener. This is why Sean normally does the names. We get to make fun of him and not me. Gardner Webb plus seven hundred. We've I've heard that beating. Virginia Halftime Sixteen. Of course Longwood another place that has known to have whores plus six thousand Hampton also six thousand with Campbell. Unc Ashville and Sh- Charleston southern one hundred twenty two one USC that's gotTa be South Carolina upstate South Carolina up. I did copy and paste this from a source. I Did Not Valley South Carolina. Upstate is three hundred to one. And Jesus Christ in the one respite Syrian thousand one high point D fifty. Imagine setting the line on high point go. You know. We're not going to get enough action if we make it a thousand to one. What about twelve hundred one? Not Enough we need to make it fifteen hundred one points. Basketball Coach is has a national championship. No but I'm sure you're going to tell US Smith no Roe. Wow Wow what how the mighty have fallen I was GONNA say former says Alma Mater Golden Gopher. So what does he just doing some charity doing anywhere? Look I mean like the play here what you got to go you look. I hate to be going back to back but Radford is better than the rest. It's a home game for them. They won at northwestern in the big ten earlier this year. They beat the beating Richmond. Who's all right now on the bubble? Bradford's the best team out of the bunch here. They got I'm also all in Radford to getting all Southampton Road Products Carla Jones one of the best scores in college basketball. He gets twenty points a game. Five boards five assists seven five seven. Sean Yeah I mean. Handed has some athletes Travis Fields Donald Hicks second and third and scoring. You'RE GONNA Hampton. No no no they they. They're Southampton Road. They went to high school there. Okay third in scoring and I I mean Radford. Is the chalk play here? I'm riding him I mean again I think they will be able to dictate the tempo they play a very slow tempo and a conference filled with teams. That seem to like to ruin. If Radford's the highlanders I've been to BLACKSBURG. Why are you even putting those two citizens there like two miles apart from each other? Right very diffe. It Bradford's The highlanders Islamic Virginia Tech. The landers I don't know what you're trying to get at but I'll tell you what I'm gonna I'm Gonna. I'm GonNa tell you what I'm GonNa tell you right now. That is if this conference tournament is being played at campus sites and Radford is the what seed one the one seed so they'll host every game. Yeah well they will certainly deploy the horrors Radford and there's no getting out of Bradford without something weird I've never been to the city of Radford and not had a crazy experience with alcohol and and maybe even women legislature right definitely not. There's no sort of there. That's that's a full town on the table and beneath the table. Sean I am. I'm sticking with a second shock play here. Radford gets it done like you said they recruit from the fruitful seven five seven. I mean yeah. They got a lot of local kids. Great athletes go in triple Radford Triple Radford moving over to we'll move over to the Horizon League here in a second but before we do news sponsored the program borough baby borough even Noah New Year's resolution season's over so a lot of new stuff to get excited about the new conference tournaments Newmarch Mantis. Indianapolis Indiana odds that Andrew Luck will be in the house. No A wapping. Plus one now is in. This is Megan a sports. They support the patriarch. This will be played over. March third fifth ninth and tenth. We have the favourite right state at minus one ten Northern Kentucky Plus Two Twenty Green Bay Plus One Thousand Illinois Chicago Eleven to One youngstown state and Oakland thirty five to one Milwaukee A hundred to one Cleveland State. Two hundred one and friend of the program Justin Penn Tandy's Alma Mater I-. Up Y one thousand one. Oh Wow that is a long shot. You can't tell me everything I need to know about. This conference horizon love the Horizon Confidence You can't you can't look right states not the play here. No is a white guy with corn rows. Whoever just twenty points a game seventeen points a game and ten boards. Oh my God. During the ad read Gold Kobe. Showing me this picture. And I'm thinking why is he showing me this random white guy with corn rows and I see right stay on like oh even more reason to fade them yes an northern Kentucky has a guy named Dant Tez Walton So little database action going on so that Tantai's wall so now I get it sixteen sixteen points a game. Seven Boards Look Northern Kentucky. Won this thing last year. They're going to do it again. I'm not buying into this. White guy with corn rows are a loud love right? So you're going on here. I think it's and you can make money on. This play can make some good money. What's your take on Illinois Chicago as a giant Longshot? Usc It's not loyal Chicago Illinois district just to give you clear it. Yeah I know I don't like it. Well they play they play some defense. They just don't play any offense. I'm curious because sometimes those elite defensive teams can can shock and all I would trust youngstown state at if any of the field a I'm going against the grain going Green Bay Green Bay The the run a very high fast hase and maybe they run a couple of teams out of the building. They also have a first round bye so not a horrible path to the Horizon League Championship. Ten to one I like the I like the value. There it's a bit of a dice. Roll I just keep a chalky and say right state or Northern Kentucky but I you know I like given the chance of big dogs to go after who. Who did you take? I'm going Green Bay. Oh I'm sorry yeah so. Green Bay is an interesting one because they can play the same game. The Green Bay Phoenix. Yes which doesn't make a lot of sense but not at all did they can play. They can play the same style of offense. They can't play defense as well. Which really worries me. Because I think they'll get run out of the building trying to play their own game for that reason. I'm going with Colby over here and I'm glad they called me the nurse. You're going to see a bit. I love that you're GonNa see you're GonNa see a bit of a I think when you're a slower tempo team and you play a decent brandon defense. You're going to be able to control the clock and when I see these high tempo teams. These are the type of teams. I'd like to Fade in these smaller conference tournaments higher variants. I think the teams that slow you down play a little bit more consistent defense. I able to dictate. So I'm also going to go northern Kentucky Right States also in Dayton Ohio Dayton. Stealing the shine from all their look. They finished first but no one cares so. They're not even appreciative of this. You know what I mean. They're just GonNa Kinda Fades Northern Kentucky. You Know Northern Kentucky won this thing. I think what two out of three US you know what I'M GONNA ASK. Shawn that you put a I just for shits and giggles. I'M GONNA put a tiny little pieces something on Illinois Chicago. Because C plus eleven. What are we doing? Why are we doing dog? Just how at the end? We'll do our lock and then the our favorite dog over like we can figure that out later. I just wanted to. I wanted to throw it out there because while I was digging into the numbers it was something that really jumped off the page. How good they were on offense especially in conference Ethan Defense and how bad they were on office so you know maybe the ball will find the the whole little bit. Should we move onto the Patriot league or do we have more horizon notes? No Hatred League. This one tips. Also in March third will be played over third fifth eighth and eleventh of March. Another campus sites tourney. This one sees colgate as the favorite minus one fifteen American five twenty five Boston University. Four twenty five army. I don't know why this one's non order. Sean did not do my prep-work. Aren't you really farming? Forty two one. Lafayette twelve to one. Navy and Book Nell twenty two to one Loyola Maryland. Eighty one Li. Hi Sean Your Lee High. Whatever they are one hundred fifty to one yup and lastly Holy Cross. There's so many Zeros I'm gonNA guess this is five thousand to one. I like what I love these odds there. It's insane the insane. How far they go at some point. Just don't even bother offering so yes of course do a tiny sprinkle on Lehigh ache because they wanted to. Cj mccollum but really my official play for the Patriot League is Colby. Who Is America? The team all time leading score. They're all Americans. I'll tell you score. Yeah Saieed Nelson Homey currently. Yeah Oh yeah. He became Dick own database. You see that we watched the denver-based self select and then already reflecting that he knew it in the same updated has been updated enhanced. Say Nelson one of only eight players in NCAA record over two thousand points. Five hundred rebounds five hundred sits end to interfere. These steals I like. I like a guy like that. We've seen it your job or aunts or whatever you've seen these guys from these smaller schools that have the ability to carry a team. I think this say Nelson could carry American two victories. You've got to make America great again cheese. I'm going all in on trump him and Joe Biden. So gimme American at plus five twenty five. You know when I was in college. I don't know if you this made it all the way out to Pennsylvania but American had re maybe. This is more me being down in Virginia. American had a reputation of being like. Oh Americans got like sixty five percents shit six. That's right in the heart of the segment. In the moment. We all thought that was cool but little. Do we realize these are all the chicks had ideas and such and maybe maybe weren't weren't interested in that kind of act there in the silly but he's of those guys. We'll get penetration. Wow Matt Madden is juiced up coming off. That victory. Glad to see that he's healthy and a lot. Yeah I love how people I'm sorry for thinking Madden was dead. Who said that? Oh no because I will jokingly say when Madden the Madden penetration sound drop one I said. Congratulations mad if only he was here to see it and people were like wait. He's dead now. I was just kind of funny. It seems like a guy who's no longer live. But he's alive and well and he's out there in blooming onions left and right ready to go colby. What are you doing here? I think you gotta go chok with Colgate. They won at Cincinnati this year. They're a good team but a sprinkle a little bit on Lafayette Lafayette Leopards. One at Colgate. Earlier this year they are also my. They're my dog here. Plus twelve hundred. I like a little bit on Lafayette as well. They beat colgate twice. Not only once twice the one that speaks to the one at colgate. Yeah Yeah I was GONNA get cute and take Boston University. But I'm I'm not backing the Boston squad. Give me more chalk. I'm awfully Chaki on this one. But yeah cold coke. It's good to the Tennessee will be probably fifteen again. But they remember. The Tennessee. Got Everything from last year. We were in Spoke with Alan Cooley watching tennis. He was sweating. That one out as Tennessee barely beat colgate. Expect them to do that again. Like I said that since he is teams good. That's all. We got from March third. We're going to be moving on here but four. We Talk More Conference tournaments. Let's talk about as per had that's right. Tuesday night on the West Coast for now we move onto the mountain west which is played in Las Vegas March fourth through March Seventh San Diego State. Only a minus two fifty favorite here. Utah State plus four hundred Nevada. Plus One Thousand Boise State twelve to one New Mexico fifteen one Colorado state twenty five to one. Unlv thirty three to one air force fifty to one Fresno state sixty sixty sixty six to one San Jose State and eighty to one all right so I guess is there some logic around the fact that San Diego State doesn't need this at all. I mean I mean and so. They're not they're not going to get it. Done like talked me here. Why are they only minus two fifty? I think because they've been tested lately and I think they're not GonNa win the Mountain West Conference. Wow I'm going to minus two fifty too much value. I think got their loss out of the way. I think they do need this mountain west to to help get them a number one seed kind of established their confidence going into the tournament. Lost now in the Mountain West Conference Tournament would throw them off their mojo little bit I mean. Unlv they have home court advantage. Utah state maybe gives them around. But I'M LACKING UTAH. State was up by like nine points at halftime at San Diego State. I think they're a dangerous team but I. I like the the value of UNLV thirty three to one look first year coach. They were pretty bad to start. The season close strong blew out Colorado state recently one at San Diego State. Recently the home that they are a fun dog. I'll I'll get a little taste at thirty three to one by my my lock is certainly SDS. You they got four guys start over double digits. You GotTa love that you gotTa love the dog. I'm saying look I'M GONNA take Utah State as the favourite. I'M GONNA take you're gonNA bring to that thirty three to one and we have an interesting path. Because they're they're the number four seed. They the first game against Boise state who they just lay. Yeah and then they would play the winner of San Diego state versus the winner of Arizona. or sorry of Air Force Fresno State. So when they're at home they're not GonNa get tempted by Vegas temptation yeah. Unlv went three home games when the SALT THIRTY THREE TO ONE. Maybe maybe worth a couple bucks but SDS. You is still really stupid. They're really a vegas temptation. Are we calling? It's not the horrors of Radford here. I always worry about that. These conferences that go out there like do you know what building this is being. Is this going to be? I believe you know circus. It's not. They're not playing at the the mackey center or whatever do we know I thought it was. Unlv stadium but maybe that was years past. I don't know it seems like a opportunity missed on some some income some potential revenue there. Yeah I mean look I. Don't see how you don't take San Diego state but if you wanted to take a stab sure why not being in Vegas is distracting as fuck. I don't know it's hard to it's hard to just be in Vegas and not get distracted by Vegas. I mean so i. I couldn't imagine having to go there and compete and some sort of athletic people who run the marathon and I remember one year show. Yeah I wonder if like the coaches strategizing like say. Hey we're going to stay in Summerlin. You know somewhere like on the allergy Anderson is being played the Thomas and Mack Center Las Vegas Home Game for you. And if you're in San Diego and you'll senior San Diego state. You've been vegas before you know the moves you know where not to go. You know where to go. And there's just a superior team there. They're going to be a one seat for a reason. I think they think they really kind of get things locked in here in this conference tournament and it might have to fifty. I'm normally kind of against going chalk in these things because you gotta have three or four games. At minus two fifty doesn't feel like tremendous value but their path to victory is pretty good so I'll take but I like Koby's unlv dog because then you're setting yourself up for one of these teams being in the final four and whatever their unlv one at San Diego State but also the game they played in Vegas. They'd played twice. They were right in that game so expect it to be a close game if UNLV NC state move on and you have bad some both of them then means you know one of them is probably GonNa end up in the championship. Assuming UNLV's Boise state but they will. That's not a bad formula there to take San Diego minus two fifty but almost to give yourself a future hedge opportunity with the Plus Stanford those who wanted to die further I mean. Unlv does possess the best offensive rebounding rate in the conference. And so that is a way you can win them getting like I said they had Schuster. Ray She brings in the program. I think he came over from North Dakota state. He and you could see the team at the start of the season a little rough and then they got better and better and better than you're just say hey. This team is trending in the right direction. It is worrisome to take dog who doesn't shoot the the long ball while the three ball wall but I think they have some indicators that that that would give him a shot and and if you WANNA play the gimmick with you know kind of narrow down that piece of the bracket it's a smart move because right you're going to end up with one of the teams and a minus two fifteen thirty. Three to one is pretty pretty solid even if you only bet enough to make it like minus two eighty minus three hundred for San Diego State. If they ended up advancing that's that feels like a value proposition. Of Course Jon. It is and that's my favorite time. Favorite thing to do. March madness is by futures. Talk about hedging them not hedge them and feel horrible about it. Let's move on back. I'm just looking at some random futures over here on promise Lum Colorado to win the Two Thousand Twenty College Basketball Championship. No one hundred forty dollar ticket to to win those are you collect sixteen thousand two hundred dollars. No you're GONNA ever veteran team. But they might lose in the first round to collect all the pack a pack twelve will. That's a prediction. I'm going to make right now. Kramer here's again. I'm now thirty. Six hours into my official March madness prep-work. The pack twelve is going to do it again this year. Whatever whatever teams get in heaven teams might get in there which is who's going to more PAC twelve sweet sixteen teams and it's going to annoy most Americans who has more teams in the tournament the PAC twelve or the big ten big ten will be the most east coast? Buys Bro. Wanted the one bias. Kobe Virginia Tech to win it. All Kramer Right now if you bought a forty dollar ticket at prop swap. What do you think the collect amount would be zero in Greg? If they win fifty thousand one hundred dollars. Well I might as well buy just for the memory. They're opposite of UNLV. They're turning the opposite direction. They started off. Intriguing beat Michigan State. The I think they're the one team from you. WanNa talk about the date and you you You guys talked about it on the college experience but they Dayton. Is that team this year and I don't know how they're not once you. How are they putting San Diego state as a one date not a one? I don't understand what I was going to point out is. The Virginia Tech is is not doing with a lot of those teams down there in Maui or doing so that's true. The hokies are going way too. You know what it's annoying. They started hoppy. 'cause they shouldn't have they got everyone's hopes up. It's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Conference this year. It's a fund. Any conference is human. So you're locked in. You didn't officially say okay. San Diego state minus stupid Kobe. As you know. I'm a fan of all conferences with valley in their name love the Ohio Valley Conference. Of course this. This one's going to be played in Evansville Indiana Nice March fourth. Through the seventh. We SEE BELMONT MINUS THIRTY FAVOURITE Murray state plus one sixty the racers that I get that right in P. Four to one eastern Illinois Forty to one eastern Kentucky also. Forty two one. I'm going to have to bust. Make this calm a little wider. Because we got Tennessee state fifty to one Jacksonville state. One hundred to one and morehead state one fifty to one. There is a place in my heart for this Murray State. Team fuck them. I had them the other day Oh boy minus three. Oh boy this is emotional. And they blew up. They blew a twenty seven point. Lead with ten minutes left Just can't trust them. I can't trust them. Twenty seven points and ten minutes. Happy trusted that's unbelievable. That's like that should never happen. So I mean you're GONNA go Murray State John rants on the Memphis a he's not still fighting back. That would be great if you just put a mustache on Ceuta Back Murray state. I'm all over a Belmont here again. Going CHALK MINUS ONE thirty at that early loss. They've really come into form after that. My Boy Adam. Kunkle came out of no you air. That's everyone's boy almost getting seventeen points for game. You got some sophomores like Nick. Muslims ski what about Grayson Murphy? Covad Belmont is the solid team. What about as long shot though. GimMe a little taste Eastern Illinois. Forty two one team beat both. Belmont and Murray State Twenty seven point comeback. Well Yeah Little it was a week ago. So hey maybe there's some eastern Illinois magic forty two one. It's too fun to take a little taste called me. What are your lanes? Here Austin. P. Moon Yeah plus four hundred Taylor they were in the year twenty one and ten boards a game. Almost eleven boards a game. No that's tough. That's an animal and they got this guard atoms. He can play. I've been watching. This team on the governor's got to like that nickname And they rely. I mean they basically play five guys. Yeah they're a good team dude all the top four five or really good. Actually so sean. Cut Me off before I actually gave out my pick. My pick was also going to be Austin P. Who really you guys are both like in Austin paying you. Just blinks again. They they they. They're strong offensive rebounding team. The Overall Yeah. They have some weaknesses. They're not the best defensive team. Hey there are strong defense though and I think when you kind of dive in and look at the way that they score the points how they rely on stuff and barring no one gets into foul trouble. This is one of those. No one can get into foul trouble because they kind of rely on a a small amount of people and at the small schools. The way you destroy them is when you you get to the seventh eighth ninth guys on the bench. That's problem so I am going with. What was the price the price? This was the one that I often plus four hundred. That didn't feel correct. That what do you mean by that? Like it was a little too much value and this is the time of year. We talk about valid value proposition. I certainly I'm all over it The ten minutes of prep did on this conference. I'm sorry the hour I did it because I love the conferences with the bally's Yeah Austin P. One Austin P. Four to one. Yeah I'll stick with my lock being Belmont a little taste old dog action on eastern Illinois. Who won this conference? Last year was a tennis emerge. They know Belmont Belmont but Murray state attorney both got in the Belmont won the PL- the less to Maryland. I think in the plane. Belmont one playing game loss to Norlin by one definitely got cute and bet on Belmont. I thought they were GONNA buy one. It was it was a great I I think so. They wanted to play in game and lost Maryland. I believe and then Mary state made their run and beat a couple teams. Maybe just one team merged. They beat last year. Murray State is the was the two thousand nine hundred G. You need the Danville. I made it as well. The database needs head home and they had to. They had to charge. This should be questions. Talk to Siri answer a question with a straight somebody in the first the first game. I don't remember who oh in the tournament last year that I don't remember the time I had dome. Beaumont beat one of the play a game and then lost Maryland by one or two. Okay right look it up. Look it up. Why wh when I asked when I say? Hey Dan Debase. Marquette was marquette say database. Who won the two thousand nine hundred? Eighteen Ohio Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Championship. I should hear something like this. Well Ryan Murray State one who's Ryan Murray State? Beat Belmont seventy seven sixty five. We didn't ask that question. Not Job took it over. Let's move on Sean. We're done you ever done. Let's give out some lacks some dogs. I what is your lack conference pick. Well I'd like to put a thousand unit play on liberty minus three. I'm just kidding. I'm not going to give minus three fifty as the lock. Listen this is trusting. But it's plus chalk and as a person who's been boots on the ground has served time in the beautiful city of Radford. I expect the horse to be rabid and really just provide the home court advantage that Radford Needs Radford takes it home plus one twenty. That's going to be my lock for my dog. I keep looking around Austin P. Is definitely the responsible thing to do. Don't do it Ryan gave reckless. But I'm telling you Illinois Chicago. Wow what's that value? Eleven eleven hundred. We make it a rule. We gotta go. It's got to be a strong point. Four hundred above but right down in Austin P. is smarter if you're if you're not if you're not a taker. I would suggest Austin P. why don't we do? What do we do it this way? A lock dog and a Hashtag digital so my Dejun only as Illinois Chicago there and so. Your dog is Austin P. Then yeah at okay. That's a good enough dog right. Yeah plus four hundred that makes sense ready for Sean to take massively minus he's GonNa go liberty or San Diego State Garin. I'm going to go San Diego States. Water sorry well come on. It's a lot to fifty. Radford was the other one I feel great about three hundred three hundred team. You're making the case for me. Call me you're saying the best even the nation there in the mountain valleys. Acc in their minus two fifty. What's happening here Kelly? This is the this is early on a tout. What I'm seeing. Here's I'm seeing. A Guy was trying to work on his portfolio. Work on that win loss record. I'M GONNA take American at plus four twenty five for my dog. Lots of chicks over there and for my Dejun. Only Join. Jared throw in there now. That's even come on do the ultimate degen's only play and take you know be. I don't know all these lockers actually. Unlv eastern Illinois plus a forty two one. Oh Jeez so. That's a That's my Hashtag. Layers is so much bigger than mine. Sean size matters did just get off the old skype with get Roman. They got me right long. A cats call me. Give us your lock. My luck man. I'm a big believer in toothpaste. We're going colgate colgate in the Patriot league so they still make toothpaste colgate minus one fifteen. Look and then your normal dog not your not your dens only is your normal lock for the dog is Utah State. Plus four hundred okay. Right debris about them they are. They're they seem to be the only competition in you. Bring up when we're talking about the mountain west Corby ineffectually with unlv. An and that's why I'm taking. Unlv plus thirty three hundred all right. Get in there so coaches running ribs. Kobe has two plays in the mountain west neither. Cme Go sit. I love a titanium baby what it reminds me of the time they call told us. He was rooting for the wildcats and the senators who out of eight teams defenders. Look strong this past weekend. I'm looking forward to Coast Vegas possibly because the only thing that's knowing about about enjoying March badness in Las Vegas sometimes it gets a little crowding. The Nice thing is everyone has the game zone so usually not an issue. But if you told me there'd be thirty percent less people at March madness that's awesome and again as maybe maybe we find ourselves somehow out of Gentlemen's Club. They're they're going to be desperate for business. Because you're worried about the CORONA VIRUS. The last place you go to is spearmint. Rhino and all of a sudden the leverage. It's a different situation. Now I do. Yeah exactly I do recall. One time we were sitting at the bar and some people asked us to move. Yeah Oh so so I was happening. I see plenty of opportunity. Were IT'LL BE? I can cough on command. Which is you know. I'm a multi talented actor but I can call on command. So there's some of that says like hey. I'm saving the sea for a friend. A little little phlegm rocket coming their way. I'm going to spray it. I'm looking forward to right. I'm looking forward to not giving a shit about the current virus insanely hammered again perfect lead into actual march madness. Is These Conference Tournaments Kramer? Let's talk about the swagger. Give us the odds of the swagger back and tell us what you're doing. What's your heck? Maybe you gotta degen's only Kobe. Maybe you gotta degen's only play as well. Is that required a worse? Required one of these four they were breaking down to find a DJ only and if they've listened to our previous episodes My generally pick of Bradley plus seven hundred Missouri Valley looking you. Call me but today we will focus on the southwestern athletic conference I took against there. Is it the South Western or South West Athletic Conference? I think southwest. I'M GONNA go with the South Western. This is of course being played at campus sites. And I I'm guessing the championships in Birmingham. They call that out. Being played over the dates of the tenth thirteenth and Fourteenth. We have prairie view. Am Plus One thirty. Every time I see that name I just think about having to take a shit. That's all I can think of a prairie dog in their prairie view southern plus two seventy five Texas southern plus four fifty Jackson state plus five hundred grambling state eleven to one alcorn state the Alma Mater of the Great Steve McNair plus seventeen hundred. Which if you haven't listened to that podcast must listen to the right. But no another podcast. Koby Dan on the college experience has its own feet subscribed today. Yeah you should definitely check that out. Then we have Alabama state at thirty five to one in Alabama am fifty five two one. Wow now this this. Of course this is one of the prestigious conferences and all the land. Yes Well of course. None of these teams are going to be in the actual tournament. Right Colby they even give nobis. Call me was bragging about hitting Utah State Mountain West which was A. It was a great final game. I took it on the money. Line STRAIGHT UP AGAINST SAN DIEGO STATE. Also the kid that half court shot that thing was going on but it was. It was a really good game scenarios. Stayed Up Sixteen Utah State came back. Great Win for them. You you tweeted out. Hey you know little. Throw a little out my way as you should. Tanner our buddy Dan for ninety five. I think it is in the Boston area. Twitter guy also does some gambling pads he goes no one and I mean. No one knows small conferences like Kobe. Dead and then responded. Kobe's insulted that you think is a small conference this way we start breaking down the track exactly and look. I was going to say. This conference has a lot of parody. You could just put all the teams on a dartboard and throw a dart. But Jackson state not only are being Walter Payton's Al-Matar they got a guy named snacks. Who's the team manager snacks? Have you seen this video? This video. Kramer I am completely out of touch with most things on the Internet but I am up to this one. It entered my feet on Sunday morning. Which is prime consumption? Cattle tastes the snack. It was great if you haven't seen this checkout sports gambling podcast on instagram. I put the we put. How deep did you guys go? Did you guys go as far to see the video? Kim dunking I did. I definitely not on our instagram and to put that on our instagram. Have you seen this Sean? What you're a man in touch with the the INTERWEB. Yeah of course so you've seen the dunking video. Which one of snacks? No I have. Also teammates essentially mega wedgie. Gets up there. It looks like it's sort of practice. Durant is signing. I mean who wants a Kevin Durant Jersey at? This point doesn't even play basketball anymore. Anyway you know. I love that one but he was swept player of the week last week. So I'm GONNA take Jackson State to win this conference are you. Wow that's crazy Jackson state. I'm going to. I'm sorry honor of the southern Western Conference. I'm going southern why not takes other. They've won seven in a row and they beat purview granted that was at home but they breed prairie view in spite of shooting percent of the three point line so you can get a victory against prairie view while shooting fifteen percent from behind the arc that to me is a team that can overcome some adversity find different ways to win and plus they need snacks. Snacks I'll go southern Ed. Plus two seventy five. I also like southern. You could argue. That they're the most balanced team in the conference. And of course Let me circle back because this is not only a sixteen seat but this is a sixteen seed that's GonNa be playing in two sixteen seed so the second worst conference bio mile according to Ken Palm. Yeah I I'm with you Sean. I think southern is balanced. I think they're going to play some play some defense and if as a key matchup in that final game when they play prairie view assuming the chalk gets their free throws if Prairie View. Shoot a bunch of free throws. They're winning this game What are the what are they shoot from the line? Of course. I'll be watching. All of these Games reacting at Kramer Century on twitter. Probably not. But you can check me out anyway. What's that Sean what what is what is Perry view shoot from the line? Prairie view is the second best team in the conference from the line in terms of free throw rate and southern is the worst team on defense internal rate so to me that. That's the air if someone's going to break down it's because just GonNa get to the line and they're not going to have an answer for snacks. I can tell you that right now. Can we talk about Bribing him with snap Ed. Let's get let's talk about snacks a little bit because it's not like we need a lot of time for the next conference which is actually the worst conference all the land but as a man who has also gone with the maybe one size too small. Basketball Jersey approach on like what do they. Snacks is thinking going full. Four sizes too small well again. They're small school. They probably don't have. I mean I don't know what the aerodynamics perhaps I just think it's a sizing issue. Sometimes fans will hit us up and we give away free shirts or sweatshirts. They'll say largest. You got a lot of times. It taps out to Excell excell depending on the type of don't think they have aquatic plants. That's when you know you're you're a big dude when you just say largest largest and and honestly this is a problem we face in the youth soccer ranked Sean. They guess they give us the sizes they give us. Sometimes you got a large girls small jurors. Sometimes you get a small anyway. I think it's just the problem with the small school. There's not there's not a huge booster network. There is Adidas. Isn't drop bags of cash over at the Jackson State Program. But they do have his is in white tights. Hmm how well you gotta you gotTa get the leg warmers gone. The fat tights are very forgiving. Where THE BASKETBALL JERSEY? At a certain point it becomes forgive it. How much does every fat Chick Love Yoga to? Where they're not the weird chick trying to squeeze it all in now. Everyone just throws the okay. I mean it used to throw those hands on to hold everything. Yoga Yoga pants are just the white out of having a horrible body because any any ass looks great and yoga pets. Amazing to me within reason. Where are we Ryan so we slide over the BRUINS standards talk? This is captured tournament. Edition all these lines of course courtesy of our presenting sponsor my Book Dot AG. Give him a shout-out perfect time to load up four conference tournament. Get ready for March. Sean can I ask you for this one? What shows me act stand for. We do this every year. And you think some of these would stick in my brain. You're wrong but I'M GONNA go. Mid-east PATHOLOGIC confirmation eastern Athletic Conference. Of course the home of the seven five seven zone Norfolk state. Who although are the three seat or the favorites at plus seventy North Carolina Central Plus Two seventy North Carolina? A and T plus three fifty Norfolk state has won a tournament game in the past twenty years. They're they're a good team Fume Cookman did I get that right. Colby Morgan State twelve to one cop and chopping state COP twenty two one South Carolina State thirty two one Delaware state seventy two one Maryland eastern shore. We've seen them before. Eighty to one. And Howard Ninety two one cop and state got I trust her. One Dixon Beckett Maryland. Back in the day coach. He's their head coach now. Yeah Colleen Stat. I liked that he was part of a pretty filthy back. Core won a national championship in Maryland. played for the wizards in. I think the trailblazers the NBA have a shot at a jump shot. He was going to need a sling size. A little good luck. I'm going North Carolina central here. Oh good value. You're saying one ST and they've been coming out of this conference for the past couple of years. They've won three years in a row at their plus two seventy dollars. What color are their uniforms read? Are they was asking Sean Tower? Blue and yellow so I was wrong. What about my boy debris blunt nineteen point two points per game? Almost ten boards really is enjoyable. Or what's making even lean more besides their history of winning this tournament three years in a row. They're thirteen and three in conference. I think it's crazy to give the number one regular season team with this with this pedigree if you will the act pedigree to make him a plus semi. They've also found a way to win in tight games. They're three you know in overtime. When I team that's three and overtime their regression to the mean heads they'll say they overtime there do for loss. Timmy this is a team. That just figures out ways to win. Keep them all in on. North Central State North Carolina Central Central North Carolina State. I'm going to back you up Another thing to pay attention. Essential Carolina State. Obviously you've mentioned there's a state you mentioned the Horse Carolina. You mentioned their leading score blunt but another guy to keep an eye on his Randy Miller Junior. I know it sounds like a NASCAR driver but Randy Miller. Junior is shooting thirty eight percent from three point line. That sounds very mediocre. That's pretty good. Shoot thirty eight percent from three you also think you could kick in the NFL right. Yeah I've I did not see I could kick in the NFL. Pick forty five here. I said I could hit forty five. Forty seven shortchange. Somebody please give us opportunities. It's coming we'll pick. We'll get there well. I think one of the things that really stands out to me when you when you look at these teams because of course Jon. I like to look at that profile. And one of the things I like to look at turnover percentage for and against and what I picked up with this conference is they all turn the ball over like crazy and some of them are pretty good mark of game. Well because when you start going down Yelling Norfolk. That could be a problem. They turn the other team over but they also turn the ball over you pop down. North Carolina Central and it just keeps happening down the down the line. No it wouldn't be me if I didn't go with some chalk. Here going Norfolk state. Of course Repin the seven five seven Blacksburg what's up Norfolk state plus ones. This will be a said. We'll be seeing southern verse Norfolk State in a plan. Sixteen in Dayton Ohio Dayton Ohio. I four sign me up for that one I under Kramer of course going to be nail and all those first half unders in the real march madness tournament just around the corner. I can't wait for March madness in the tournament. Officially get started. But there's some you know I can't wait for March madness and there's other things you don't want to wait Four and that's the doctor. I'm GonNa lets us the database that we know the database has been going through a series of upgrades. This is of course played in Atlantic city over the dates of March tenth through the fourteenth what does Naacp stand for mid American Athletic Conference. Wait what why are you saying this? With some level of of concern is the DANTA based not upgraded? No that's the MAC. Middle American right TRO conference new rule. You can't name yourself same as the MAC okay. This is actually the understand. You have another a in there but I don't like it well. Let's talk about the English. Language should call the two eighties in sequence. I believe makes it a long. A Right Sean. Correct me you're more of a a pack. Would it be the make? I have no idea how or the Dalai C. N. Double A. C. Rolls off the time. It sounds pretty cool at a P and a double A. C. and AA is a good one double as a good solid batter. It sound as the one seed plus one eighty rider plus two eighty. Saint Peter's plus three ninety monmouth plus five hundred Quinnipiac. Fifteen to one with Iona Connie's thirty two one. I'm pretty sure that's wrong Manhattan. Thirty five to one fairfield. Forty two one Niagara Forty five to one and Mariss. Sixty two one sixty two. Why for Rick Smits Zama? Put this sheet together last night and I had to do the only conference. I had to severely update the odds on was the May. Let's go with Mace. I'm going with the Mace Conference. Sean yes t tell me you're riding on the My My monmouth. What's their team name? That was the team with the wacky bench right. I don't remember I was considering going with monmouth there. My original choice but instead I switched it to Saint Peter's plus three nine Ni. Here's my here's my case for Saint Peter's first off seven and one in their last eight to close it out. Love A team coming in hot there. Call themselves the peacock's I like that that's pretty bad ass for basketball team where peacocking. We've all read the game on. How were they come out with real nice sequences rather go to very different ways? This Saint Peter's peacocks. Which just rolls off the talk. They'd beat writer monmouth twice CNN. Cnn rider they beat at home. But I think the neutral court helps Saint Peter's because they're neutral court it's in Atlantic City. Not Too far from. Saint Peter's so temptation I've been city. There's there's been. The only temptation in Atlantic city is to leave Atlantic as soon as you get there the peacocks their Jersey natives. What's up some of those prostitutes that just you know? Maybe not have other teeth but they at at at at the job of a hat off blow job. Can I give a quick Atlantic City aside the last time I was in Atlantic City? Mcdonald's the morning after leaving town Atlantic City at that point very depressing. You're either in the Borgata or you were on the mean streets of Atlantic City. Sports books have helped it. I think it's gotten much nicer. I'm sure I so I've been but what happened. A lady came in straight out almost like south central Don't be a menace from Dobie medicine south central movie but she comes in and she literally does the move or she's offering people monopoly board. I say monopoly game for five dollars when people say no thank you. She proceeds to offer to suck their Dick for five dollars. Good Chances This. My brother had a bachelor party there and yeah branly horrible. Stripper was just like who wants jobs all of us. We're good. We're good here John. Saint Peter's is a New Jersey school. Yes so as Monmouth I know and they are familiar with. But Mama Gabby Twas my Saint Peter's and to me the plus five hundred monmouth isn't enough to sway me off the Plus Ninety Saint Peter's where is Saint Peter's location because Monmouth is right down the street from Atlantic City. They are aware of what to do. And what not Sin City? That's not far. That's that's not a great place either but it's a foreign have anything. They're very familiar with the Atlantic city. I around taking the step further monmouth the only team out of those top out of the big four. That doesn't turn the ball over crazy. I think they also can turn you over. I like them at the G. The five to one juice. That's some nice value and I'll go as far to say. Don't be surprised. Sources close to the situation. Tell me that they're going to take a a a a play out of Lawrence Taylor's book. Let's do something all the other players lots of horrors will be going into the CNN rider and Saint Peter's hotels so look out for that they're GONNA be tired. They're going to be dragging. We've leg the operating on full tanks. If you know what I mean monmouth gets it done five two. We'll have you ever heard the quote rider till she bucks. You don't writer at all. That sounds a database going with rider. Look I support the moving truck? The moving company they're great. They've moved by ship before. So I think the Bronx Kobe. Yeah the same started. You're GONNA phonetic look. This team has four guys who average double digits spread the ball out. No one can stop them in this conference. Saint Peter's or Mama. I will say CNN. I'm a big fan of their mascot is the Saint Bernards. That's your dog. That's pretty quality is the biggest dog on the court so I that but since this is be playing Atlantic city I gotta go right or is it right here in Jersey to their own. I mean this this conference yeah clearly. They're not flying places. This is more of a conference as far as Ken. Palm. Cnn number one. Saint Peter's second according to the Ken Palm Rankings Rider Number Three monmouth a distant fourth rider of course in beautiful Lawrenceville NEW JERSEY. How was Lawrenceville House beautiful? I had some friends from the colleges from out there. It's been a FARM COUNTRY BEAUTIFUL PART OF JERSEY. It's great here is also leading the leading the conference in defensive efficiency and field goal percentage against enough of this. We've all made our picks. Let's move onto a real conference. The Atlantic coast conference. I didn't ask. I'm sure you read about that. I'm positive I'm right being played in Beautiful Greensboro North Carolina. Oh my God these scroll down to see. Your hokies playing played between March tenth in the fourteenth we have duke is the favourite at Plus One Fifteen Louisville plus two sixty Florida state plus three fifty as the one seed. Uva Nine to one as the twosies Notre Dame twenty two one syracuse twenty four to one North Carolina state thirty two one clemson forty five to one North Carolina. Fifty five to one Miami. Seventy five to one my Virginia Tech hokies eighty to one. Do you believe Sean with wake forest. Also eighty to one Pittsburgh. Ninety two one Georgia tech who's Su is not in ineligible. Somehow were listed as one hundred to one. Meanwhile Boston College actually playing in the ACC works at one hundred fifty to one. Not sure about this one. I thought it was funny so I kept it in. Yeah that's great. I mean the is comical this year right. Yeah it's just like football. Will they shock? People a la the PAC twelve in down seasons for the PAC twelve. Come out know how to play in these tournament games and get it done. They are still the fifth ranked conference according to Ken Bomb Which surprised me when I looked at the rankings The ranked above the SEC. It seems like the move is an. I'm taking this from Nc KNICKS ACC preview. They can get over it sports gambling back as do it. Seems like the move is to take chalk play. I'll go duke. Take take that shock and then roll the dice at another team in this twenty to forty five range. I'M GONNA I'M GONNA ride. Nc next picks so he's got to lock that in and then For the degen's only played North Carolina State. Thirty two to one. They beat Duke earlier in the in the regular season. Twenty two points. You're taking too. Yeah I think this is a great year for Duke to win the ACC and then get knocked out by a like a fifteen or a fourteenth seed first round in the tournament. Because that's that just feels like what's going to happen this year is we'll get some of the blue bloods maybe winning some of these conference tournaments and then things get really shake up when the actual tournament runs are comes around but maybe maybe duke is an ivy like this. You're Duke's going to be motivated to win the ACC tournament. I know some years. They haven't been but I think this year they will the and I. I think they have the best team. Add to these. They've had a couple of losses so far and coach K. Really has foot up his ass when it comes to the team. I think they'll get motivated. They'll make a run here in the in the ACC tournament and then run into some drama in the march madness tournament Kobe. How do you see shaking out? I think I'm on a ride Louisville as I kind of the most talented team in the ACC but also have the easiest path. I mean they. They're going to take on Syracuse and the winner or the winner of Syracuse. I Virginia Tech North Carolina. So look out there. Well my degen only play is going to be the tar heels Because I do think they're actually one of the four to five best teams at this conference. What happened I mean? They were injured. They were severely injured a lot of the year. They're certainly a fun play. What were the first team under? Five hundred if you look though. It's it's how they lost. They kept losing by like one point. Yeah that I had them plus ten and a half against Duke They ended up losing by thirteen but they had an open look for three as time expired them so they're like the shot and they're in that time and then headed to just kind of pulled away. It's fifty five to one for a reason but certainly make a good case as far as talent and it's in Greensboro. Yeah I mean they should also this is their super bowl. Right where Do Louisville Florida Yeah? Unc really has something to play for here. And I mean I would be surprised IF THEY MAKE ARRESTS. Branko that spray little on the money line only need three wins from them right. Yeah one-two-three there. You go again Bryan. What happened I thought okay? He's going to be good this year. Is it just a part of that? Hot got that Michigan State so the Kramer. Fm L. Tour obviously. Of course that is on hold. Thank you thank. Sue roughneck fever. The outbreak is just at this point. It's full pandemic. I think a couple of things when I saw the odds. I thought Florida state was being disrespected. Because this is the total Florida state thing. To do they win. They look good winning the conference tournament. They go in everything you said about. Duke. Sean is Florida State. To me for state won outright. Ac or the first time ever AC. They won the outright title. And maybe they're the better play because they are the number one seed that's the year for them fifty. This is a down year. What am I doing picking Duke? Plus Three face a real down here and if what I'm seeing if I'm Florida state of this team of Hamilton like this is our opportunity to get a one. Take that double get a one seed and give ourselves a better path. Because I know if I'm having I know that I'm not a great horny coach. And I st- I stumble when it comes. Time to have those quick turnaround and play a superior coach. So give me give me a better path. I think Florida's State takes care of business here. I I think the winner of that Duke Florida State game is probably going to get it done. You stole all my thunder with throw in North Carolina out there because as far as a roster like why not. Its a single elimination tournament. But if I'm looking a little bit down the board is going to be NC state you. You're going you're taking my picks of Florida state and then I will change I i. I didn't have Florida state early but I did luck. Florida state is so ride. My coattails Noah for Duke Jones draft pick. Do they have a statue of Daniel Jones? Outside of Duke Stadium. They need one call me. We were just talking statues because Kobe tweet about Baker Mayfield and how everyone from Oklahoma. Who WINS A heisman? Trophy gets a statue and we did the math or like I'm a guy that means. Sam Bradford has a statue so we of course went over and Yeah tweeted out the photo Sam Bradford Statue and really all the statues are taken down in the south you gotta take down the Bradford Statue. What does actually take down? Sam Bradford best part is. He doesn't have the helmet on no. Because that's true same brad profession. He doesn't wear a helmet very often. Because that would imply you're in a game doing something to help your team win. And it's just it's just that something so in honor of him of US realize he has a statue. Sam Bradford is a fucking franchise quarterback the best of luck to you. Sam even know it's not going to be eliminated in the bites bracket contests any other thoughts on the ACC. Well I wanted to talk to Kobe a little bit because it does like the ACC. Here's what I do I have had. It has been fun watching the the new Sean. And the new lots of Sports Sean yet and keeping up with all. He's not even GonNa have to Cram for college basketball. This year's been paying attention. It does feel like this is going to be a year with the. Acc IS GONNA have a couple of those eleven or twelve playing seeds and you know Hughes. Well what a Syracuse have to do to get a play because I love them and that eleven. I foresee wall and don't forget like a team win the tournament to even get the plane eleven. So that's probably stop. Clemson is another fun there's all sorts of like camaraderie stories around. Move Away from their home stadium though but if one of these teams like does one of these teams have that opportunity to get randomly. Get to the sweet sixteen it because the Yolk really I would say stay was the one I was going to throw out there. They've done it before. It just feels like this is going to be one of those years wolf pack lettuce pedigree and there's going to be a lot of that. Acc down storyline anyway. Yeah now you guys do realize not to switch topics go back to our first one. I hit the lock of Colgate and M my dog. If you think you didn't hit anything what did you hit American. We were seeing Yego state. We the team I was on colgate. Morts huge surprise the horrors of what I who ended up winning that conference winthrop winthrop. Okay perhaps winthrop. They must have some sort of has your northern Iowa looking. Oh my dog hit dude. Wow you can't talk shit when my dog? Braley hit for seven HUNDRED UNAWARES. Actually plus eight hundred. You can see right now. There we go shooters shoot. No I in team with Kobe. No iron teams. The ethnic fever. Didn't treat you. It didn't cover either twelve and a half a stupid. I am holding eighty nine to one. Roughneck defenders takes two one at this point. Just let's hope they get to a championship. Let's let's hope in the first place. They did pay their players this week. Close things out with a lock dog and de Jin's only play. Maybe we should get that sound bite. worked up as well. Kobe kick things off of these four conferences. What is your lock go into the? Acc my friends. I am taking my lock of Louisville Louisville Conference. And WHO's your dog? My dog is going to be. Let's go to and I guess writers and even a dog really Let's I mean riders. A plus two eighty. We'll get the radio committee approves them just trying to save snacks. Cold Snacks Baby Jackson State. It's both super cool but also like we're just making fun of him because he's fat and his name. He was ball any bus. That three from like shot if he doesn't it those shots. It's not a fun story. Yeah why are you? Why are you making fun of fat? I'm not I'm just calling out that everyone's just cashing in on making fun of Fat Guy. Would a three pointer like yeah happens at the YMCA every day? Yeah when it does people it especially at the senior night was a man is put the work in for four years as a walk on happy for him. I'm not the guy making fun of him because he's fat. I'm just calling out. Get everyone else is making fun. 'cause he's fat yeah. Obviously he was an average size individual. It's not a fun. I'm sorry didn't mean to trigger. You only play for you. Let's go. Let's go deep Let's go North Carolina plus fifty five hundred okay. Well what's the limit on the degen's accounts right? Do I gotta go deeper? No what is the? What's the minimum for think? It's got to be like like eight or nine. Luca are higher. Are you ready if not? I'm ready to fire. I'll go for my lock. Give me Nc CENTRAL PLUS. Two seventy for my dog you be Florida state was all over them in the purview. And for my Hashtag only the peacock's ooh the Saint Peter's peacocks only Plus Three Ninety NC state for my dad's only and I'll make a make the Saint Peter's my dog actually so slight. He's now Shawn's moving pieces around the board next chess. My Lock Unlike these to find gentlemen. I'm coming to you with some stone cold cash plus three fifty for Florida state. Are you kidding me? Lock that up. No need to make it a dog from my dog. I'm going even further five to one monmouth. Okay let's go and from my only play dead only play while we sound like robot from I only play we will be going and copying the database because I I do think at fifty five to one look. This was one of the most grand moment if you're an ACC basketball fan because f North Carolina last place. They're not good enough for me to finish the word the the UC K. F. North Carolina. But yeah fifty five to one. That's way too big of A. Yeah I mean you could hedge out pretty quickly if they get a win. Yeah I think anyway. Yeah. Let's let's go with. I don't want to copy Sean since he key. Obviously he mocks me but he did. I think I heard Florida state. Has his dog. So I'll copy of the database. Of course this lock dog and tease brought to you by ace per head. 07/09: Davante Adams Talk, Bills RBs, Fill in the Blank (Fantasy Football Podcast)
"Fantasy football today from cbs sports email us at fantasy football at cbs i dot com it's time to dominate your fantasy league we're so cheney and they did you know that was adamant second in the nfl last year he only played this game and the packers were thirty nfl pass attempt that gonna come down or the market's gonna go down or should we be a little worried about the loss adam simply take seven days overall we're gonna put him under a microscope today i feel like i can convince myself be worried about any player so that's always fun and we welcome your fantasy football today on tuesdays day july ninth we did a pr draft yesterday we will talk more about it on thursday show but i do have one take away to begin today's show on that track but hello to dave jamie and heath what up high yo good short and sweet you know what i noticed about yesterday's draft that you're team is terrible that audio recording of jamie jamie loves my team i don't even notice on your team i had nobody wants nobody wants the bill's running backs oh no kidding at that is absolutely true we were actually a like when jamie picked the shawn mccoy i think been in thanked him i had already typed out a message that said something not nice to all of you for making me take him 'cause i was to pick the way in thought i was going to have to take the shawn mccoy a yeah nobody wants the bills running back they have seventeen of them they're going to be in the bottom third the league in terms of total offense i anticipate and i think they're gonna chop up the gary's yeah yeah well they were bottom third of the league in total offense of two thousand seventeen unless that being said though shawn mccoy was the number seven friday back event but he did get two hundred eighty seven carries i agree with everything he said in round tenants are the pats a good good good starter who at least right now but i was two picks the way in which four picked we're getting ready to take him kim kun we take it a step further nobody wants anything to do with the bills i mean yeah that's true but i think okay the shawn mccoy going a hundred and twelve overall the jamie what's good value but then you look at devon single terry i i think maybe bench size would influence how much i want devon single terry 'cause i i do feel like you're gonna have to be patient but look devon single terry was a third round pick he was the fifth running back off the board i believe he was drafted seventy fourth overall in the nfl draft that's four picks behind daryl henderson and that's one pick behind david montgomery and those guys go way ahead of like based on yesterday's draft and these other dress have been doing way ahead of single terry who went a hundred and thirtieth overall the chris towers so i i don't know i don't really to care about tj yeldan in frank or is a headache if anything but he's he's not good enough to like be fantasy relevant but why can't single terry in the second half of the season get that job for me at least i just did i didn't love in before the draft and i don't think he has a path to a feature all like even i was just thinking as you were talking like let's just say there's twenty carries for the bills on a on a given week however gets a broken down design include josh allen or not no no just the running back let's just say they average twenty cares week perfect world where did those twenty carries go isn't that kind of low or no i'm just i'm sorry could put whatever you wanna do thirty caring well i i come around number i've got here how many they had last year so that might be a good a indicators distort but it's i think it's probably a little they had a i would pull the shawn mccoy at fifty percent of whatever number on twentyfive pregame show put shady at a dozen okay so he he gets hurt what happens everybody else's healthy i will get those well it depends on i think it's how i only problem that i think most of illegal terry worries me in eight redraft league if it were gore i'd probably put gore it fourteen single terry a nine year old and a five or whatever i dunno yeldan would even get to carey's but he might get six catches in a given game right but but i guess the thought the hope would be that if mccoy gets hurt or even at mccoy just struggles he averaged three point two or the buffalo average three point two yards this offensive line is dramatically better the wonder whether you're a yeah but he's you know he's getting up there in age 'em obviously so like why can't single terry like especially if he gets hurt single terry will be better than frank or he will be better then tj yeldan so i just we're very glad and i have no reason to believe the gore what average four and a half yards kerry last year he i i feel very confident they be better than frank or yelled and it's been a pretty good running back when he's touched the football i mean i'm in syria right younger more explosive players should be the better of the of the of that trio you would think so you would hope so they think well he was drafted one pick after david montgomery if they'd right on the guardian sally mean it's a twenty nineteen urgency pay i understand but but you know we love david montgomery not just because of where he landed but we liked him going into the draft an it's it's not like he's got nobody to compete with in chicago so it just it just a single terry goes so much later than i think the i didn't like single terry going into the draft bill dolphins a lot worse and the bears it it's also passed touches now like you could make a case that oh ida and i think that's very in dynasty league it's better than david montgomery i don't think he is but you may case for good and that could make it you you obviously in a dinosaur these gonna go hire a among the rookies the more he does and redraft league i mean what would it be shocking take my gumri other question would it be shocking if in twenty twenty devon single terry is it better redraft running back miles sanders oh no not at all not at all no not shocking mildly surprising all right we'll wrap that logan rap on this josh allen led the team in rushing each of the last six weeks of last season though is kinda funny today's sponsor is seatgeek promo code f f t for ten bucks off your first seatgeek purchase six awesome i use it basically every time i've been looking for tickets for the miami florida game a ten bucks isn't gonna help much their cause the cheapest sita's like two hundred ninety dollars so i'm not going to the miami you f game but a yeah anytime any tickets i'm looking on seatgeek and using the promo code f f t today we are footing devonte they adams under a microscope and before the show were offering fill in the blank thanks to you listeners and we have some very good fill in the blanks including one about a pedicure but i asked the on her facebook group police joined the fantasy football today facebook group weiser do a search for fantasy football today on facebook and then try to join and you might take i dunno up to a day but i will approve you and get you in there and then you can post topics i don't approve that many of those 'cause most number keeper questions and i'll start a separate keeper thread within their but anyway it's a fun group 'em check it out fantasy football today but i ask people what if they had any kind of hold ups with the bond adams in the most common answer i saw was the concussion history and she stayed healthy last year so it wasn't a big deal but he does have concussion history do you guys have any holdups with with devout adams is there anything that concerns you know he's my number one receiver regardless of format so i'm i'm taking him as the first you see rough more easily one of the safest receivers and fantasy well worth the first round pick i do see a scenario where his targets come down from last year but i still believe over thousand yards double digit touchdowns all the good things that come with being aaron rodgers number one target i don't have concerns ferns swift avante adams top ten wide receiver i think he's one of the most likely receivers to finish in the top seven or eight i do have concerns with san jose top three or four guy because a couple of things one he is going need the touchdowns obviously needs that in the last three years it's still being ridiculous rate of touchdowns each of those years an did last year was the first year you got that many targets there have been eighty seven wide receivers over the last five years that have that at least a thousand yards back not just receivers tight ends to his eight point two yards per target last year was eighty first amongst those eighty seven wide receivers it was also highest yards per target he's ever posted so i would not expect him like i think his targets come down a little bit i think that's going to hurt him a little bit new yardage department i have him projected for d most tied for the most touchdowns amongst all receivers but only for eleven so that comes down just a little bit from thirteen i i have a little concerned about him being in the top five but not being in the top ten last year first year without jordi so explain some of the pop and his numbers right 'em that explains the targets of anything yeah well i i think you just look at rogers track record's which is number one guy is so overwhelming that it's it if he gets hurt in its alison assessments that roller now the scaling assessments that role that guy has the opportunity it'd be a stars well so while adams is great at what he does in and i think clearly he's proven that 'em it's as much about rogers that it is anything else shutting the other thing i didn't mention is i mean they do have a new head coach in a new scheme and i just worry a little bit the witness the targets yeah i think so i mean it does it how does it affect aaron rodgers is he still scramble is much i mean there's already some talk about about that he's he's gotta be himself but talking about that tracker that jamie just mentioned so i okay like yes i'm gonna doctor the numbers just a little bit in one of these last five seasons but jordy nelson played nine games with aaron rodgers in two thousand thirteen thirteen that was the sort of the beginning of aaron rodgers number one target being basically the best wide receiver and fantasy if you take those games and you make it a sixteen game pace he would have been a number one wide receiver and fantasy so if you if you are willing to do that then you look at the last four years of a healthy aaron rodgers in in a healthy in not including the jordy nelson got hurt you're talking about the number one wide receiver on the packers that's finished in non pbr number one number two number one number for npr number one number three number two number two so it is it is ridiculous austin adam would have been one last year he played yep he was number one at least npr going into week sixteen we feel is number one in points per game yup he was terrific he finished fourth a non pbr in second npr an also the red zone greenway green bay wide receivers at least one green bay wide receiver has been in the top four in red zone targets in four of the last five seasons so it's just a it's just a great opportunity aaron rodgers is a little injury prone there is a new system there are some some drawbacks here but it's exciting stuff 'em i just yeah i guess i guess the targets could be one thing that stands out concussion caution history obviously a if there's one thing that somebody said on on are facebook group they don't really agree west end it's the weapons around about they adams that they're you know sort of like extra special i don't really think they are you know these young receivers they're they're good they have the potential to be good but i mean at the same time jordi put up numbers with scott who is at the time still very good receiver absolutely yeah i i like the fit of allison in the slot and i think that could i think there's a hundred targets there i don't think mark was about scaling is gonna be a huge target hog and i don't think i've ever those guys are gonna take big time end zone targets away from divots adams i i think he's got that i think he's got the full confidence of aaron rodgers and that's just gonna play out every week and that just it brings me to one final point in this is one that i think you should never all my dad's he was number one in terms of consistency a if you're talking about ten points in non pr fourteen points in non pbr or sixteen points in full p pr hit at least sixteen people were points every game last year he had more back to back double digit fancy point games and not cpr then any receiver in football he's he's just he's incredibly safe yeah he's he's exactly the receiver you turn to when you don't like the running backs left and if you're not sold on de'andre hopkins having another huge year or leo jones not having a huge year you go right to the bond adams okay two more concerns that people had won the cornerbacks he faces in be nfc north chicago minnesota in detroit basically tore all of them up last although they are yours were a little low against minnesota sixty four yards and fifty and sixty nine yards but he caught a touchdown in both games on a combined twenty targets he tore up the bears and he played one game against the lions had nine catches roger forty yards and a touchdown a the other thing i guess kind of goes back to the weapons how did he do what you're on in my house and i don't know if this concerns anybody but in weeks one through four with toronto allison like the production was really good but the yards were pretty low he was on like a twelve hundred yard pacers something like that maybe even less eighty eight yards sixty four yards fifty two yards in eighty one yards in those four games against for pretty damn good opponents against wide receivers a the bears the vikings the redskins and the bills that stent does that mean anything to you guys that he's yardage wasn't very good with toronto alison in the first four games of the season his target share wasn't quite as good a i had looked at that and it wasn't too low i think it was twenty five twenty six percent as opposed to twenty seven twenty eight percent right it was most of the rest of your but that's still like that that could make the difference if they're throwing the ball five hundred and fifty times might be another fifteen targets the elusive this year and his targets in those games were forty three tomorrow of forty eight twelve nine and fourteen you rogers is having a throw a lot in those four games so the targets themselves selves and he averaged more targets in those four games and he did per phil season that in one thing that that could be an interesting thing with the packers passing game is the defense is gonna be a lot better they were all disaster last year right which he retire if they're not chasing in points as much an rogers pass attempts are up that's one thing that could maybe hurt adds a little bit but i just look at what his numbers have been in what rogers track record's with is number one guy's been and it's easy for me to take him over the field i dunno they they shut out buffalo at home last year and adams had fourteen targets in that game all right cool so that's about the adams end we have successfully put him under microscope so we got only one news item detroit safety glover quin is retiring okay and that means that we could talk about dave scott fish bowl teams they've told me he really likes his his team in the scott fish bowl which is twelve teams tiered scoring were tight ends up more value they get point and a half per catch there's some bonus scoring in there as well but dave what he likes watch point point point per catch what is it everybody else everybody i have a point per catch guidance get a full point per catch in point per first down maybe i should just joined the scott fishbowl full and i know this i don't think you're invited anymore i guess i'd rather wonderful hundred percent guarantee i get invited scott sky harbor are boys the only draft strategy i really employed here is taking value when i'm up and round one melvin gordon round to james connor fell the man in the middle of round two i took him round three om the shawn watson andrew luck just went right in front of me and i thought i could spur quarterback run if i took aaron rodgers so i did and it worked a lot quarterbacks went around three in for it pushed amari cooper back to me in round four and a in round five i took jamus he was the last top twelve quarterback i am super flex available it is a super flex and then around six brandin cooks were still there in based on wrote grinders has a has a what do you call that a chart of food goes wearing a fish bowl he had not gone in the six round in any of the drafts so i felt like that was a really good health i think you were one of the first first people the draft jamison one in these last person to draft picks them among the last on the mark cooper what you gotta do on tight end though a bad when i'm gonna not have a great one i'm hoping that one of eric you bronner jared cook make it back to me around seven you took arts right i took ertz with the ninth pick overall i wanna know i've only been allowed to make three picks because my draft is super super slow a but i have ertz james connor and keenan allen through three rounds nice cool how so how did james connor for the second round both these drafts just a tight ends and quarterbacks with young quarterbacks and david streff a yeah mahomes went fifth overall in my draft watson went before i picked at ninth as well a but then the quarterbacks slowed down but kelsey earth's in kiddle all went before james connor connor went right before me to in the second round in not popular throughout the industry is used with which the us i don't think 'em well yeah it might drop all those prize girly one had that's about the only only glaring ryan to i think levy on what adam mental yellow dress it up but i think you're gonna see that that's going to be is our average chapters is gonna suggest bell head of honor i mean look all the talk out of pittsburgh about them sharing carey's is scaring people 'em but you don't buy that a i don't buy it that i would force that would force meta drop into the second round but i think it's gonna be more so than we've seen in pittsburgh's ten year under his amman his average atp on this hasn't sixteenth overall 'em behind bell behind melvin david johnson and also behind joe mixon must present we'll take a break here on fantasy football today when we come back fill in the blank in some emails at fantasy football cbs i dot com we'll be right back do you ever feel like ticketing ticketing sites make getting devi event difficult on purpose the real question is how easy would it be if those ticketing sites actually cared will seek he cares the promo code f f t that's ten bucks off your first purchase with the promo code f f t on seatgeek you could follow us on twitter i am at adam either as your davis at dave richard singular jamie is j m e y eisenberg jamie eisenberg and he says the hardest one for me to say it's like i explained it at he's coming senior heath cummings s r o is after say just spell out senior it'd be easier for me he's a you can't do that coming up here oh really twitter as a character limit i think he's coming senior on twitter so here we go fill in the blank some some out james winston will finish top blake quarterback loved him with bruce areas where we already know dave has him as a top twelve james winston toppling quarterback seven he's i'm sorry jamus winstead eight seven eight and twelve what if anything worries you about james winston turnovers being so bad that they turned up blaine gabbert offense of line isn't as good as i think it should be icebreaker amount think it's not good in this in this got physical form i do i think that worries me is the negative fourth interception in its format he's not i don't think you'll be as good but it turnovers are the main thing like inconsistency so i'm looking at fantasy football calculator eighty p and he's qb thirteen in the guy who goes right in front of him is probably someone i'm looking to get a lot of my leagues that's jared goff so do a quick jared goff versus james winston debate well golf has some offense of line issues a you know losing two guys from year ago 'em i think you look at a you know upside like i think goff's kind of hit a ceiling and i think we've seen james's ceiling it yeah but golfing guard off got the safer much higher floor with golf higher ceiling with jamus i've got the backed back not just a quarterback but overall in the draft both top ten quarterbacks ray interesting both top twelve from me outside of my top ten they're also backed back for me i agree the gossip safer i mean you just look at what golfers doing before the cooper cup injury he may have been the number one he may have been the number one quarterback is top three i'd have to almost guarantee you is absolutely on fire antifa then cup got her and they they kind of scale back on the pass attempts and he struggled struggled it really was was bad down the stretch 'em but i if i had a case like a sort of sneaky pick for qb one it would be goff 'cause nobody really i don't think many people are gonna be on that train a lot of people will take winston and i get it but i think golf is just as much upside why would sure i i don't i don't think he has the you pass attempt upside 'cause i expect their defense while it could not be great is going it'd be a lot better the tampa bay's and i mentioned that jamie says the chance of getting benched i don't think he's gonna have a quick hook because the bucks just don't have anybody even close to him talent wise on the bench ready to go but golf is definitely not getting the hook for blake bortles in las angeles he will be in their rain or shine he could someone tell me where jared goff ranked after the first eleven weeks of the season yep all right thank you it it'll be take me like two minutes do another fill in the blank and then i'll give it to fill in the blank from jordan you're fine drafting damian williams the sooners round blank three for a he's three need for depending on the format in what we did you went over cooper cup actually we live in we ten i was wrong the the week one through ten yet jared goff ranked third at quarterback behind only patrick mahomes in matthew ryan yeah in week eleven but actually was but but but he had played ten games so he was really more like seven really don't wanna do it every week twelve so three weeks while because it's by week twelve and then you get to include that kansas city right is fifth okay a j cash fill in the blank the number of leagues i will be in this year is blank you i i don't know how verge acre for us i'll be in fifteen too many of absurd that said i think absurd is the right word well if you don't i mean that's balls he is do do you get the twenty leagues twenty seasonal leaks i probably well not twenty redraft league but counting dynasty yes i think i will jamie you gotta give it to twentyfive this year though because i do not i will not get past ten so i am currently at nine i would not be passed that so fill in the blank from mitchell i this is a very long fill in the blank but it's fun it appears that most i running back systems are the new football trend any nfl changing the fantasy football value of certain players and raising lots of questions about others blank will be the next football trend to affect fantasy football teams in this way no kickers a that would be awesome i will say it's already started with a couple of the smarter offenses and it will be eight lack of a true number one in the passing game is well okay wait which teams the rams 'em the eagles to a certain extent sure james that just have a lot of depth at receiver yeah i think you could even argue this chiefs sort of fall into that category is tyreek hill sound like he gets the targets of a number one he just makes so much of them did the andy reid tree shining on drains just name bears eagles well we don't say bears a but yeah i did it i don't oh i was listening to you were gonna open up the sean sean mcvay tree primary victory dave better than the jeff fisher stump did you have one dave a no i i i'm not sure yeah no it was a tough question i liked it i i think that you just see what's what has already been happening over the the last few years is running back you know they're the passing game we we've been talking about it oh it's jeff fisher day oh 'cause it's seven nine seven nine i only got happy jeff fisher day i forgot to wear my dish invest on the sideline of the super bowl a tight ends we've been talking about for a long time about tied in developing in morphing and as long as kelsey killen hurts keep doing their thing and someone else will break out this year more and more teams will look for that big body for four matchups over the middle especially if that big body can run for six her better they've been doing that for twelve years they've been trying to cast but they've been trying to find it but it's been it they failed i think they're better athletes are starting to come out now and that will contribute to do lack of a number one yes that will but it'll help tight ends be even more fun to target on draft day so the blame from are boys scatcherd noodle adamant jamie will get pedicures together before the raiders win blank games i think i think what we're doing it yeah pre season were doing at the flex draft oh in new york were doing it yeah i mean i gotta find a place i'll find it okay don't they have one like on every street new york no gonna go someplace and i probably fill in the blank from mark the kerry splits between shopping hunt after hunts return will be blank percent blank percent seventy five twenty five seventy seventy thirty sunny thirty okay so then fill in this like the kerry split between chubb in duke johnson or anyone else before kareem hunt returns will be by percent percent eighty twenty eight yeah it doesn't sound like a huge downgrade the other bakers not gonna hand off the do that's right from john appleton the wide receiver on the rams to draft at their current atp is blank can you give me their cardi b your last one so let me let me get that right out look at fantasy calculator and p pr all right robert woods is at forty six brandin cooks is forty two up cup is fifty two well there it is i will say something a difference it's all of them i like all of them at that eighty i feel like every draft we do robert woods goes first 'em he's the one i worried about the most i think is the safest cups the one i worry about the most yeah that's what i go and i mean he's coming off the injury injury hand i worry more about the touchdown dependent guy brandin cooks went before robert woods yesterday so it wasn't paying attention a weird yeah right also i listened back to yesterday's show i it was the dumbest our of my life i made so many stupid embarrassing mistakes if people were listening sitting they would have thought it was just some bumbling idiot who plays papas shot once every once a year and get sore from it so could you say that after almost every episode we do though adam know yesterday was like on comes up every episode that something those five things yesterday there were five young more okay i misinterpreted this the charity thing out there yet a gosh what else can't remember that now 'em oh i looked looked at the wrong draft draft where we're we're reviewing a draft that look like melvin gordon five a night pick second there were two other things i don't remember it i don't really care to bring them up but yeah so are so okay so there's only one stupid thing today so far so were on the right track a this is from james the most reliable washington redskin in fantasy will be blank jordan reed most mobile redskin yeah we'd okay good were moving on from brian at big came twentysix nice handle their high v only candy butterfinger is better than oh there we go i called combo's candy that's right they only candy butterfinger is better than is blank those orange and black on march candies that are like generic be orange nasty whatever that is that what i'm talking about i think so a woman named butter fingers rap definitely better than peeps no you know what i had peeps lost a bet and i had peeps end they weren't as bad as i thought they were butter her fingers worse as someone who's lost the bet natta have both butter fingers at peace i could say that the the people that were not as bad as the butterfinger have you tried the new butterfinger no but i just think it is so funny when you see a candy market itself as as it improved recipe that is conceding that butter fingers terrible conceding is inexcusable m and m's has a new version almost but they don't they knew it improvement it's not it's just like oh here's a here's a new little initial no i think you're i think i think you're gonna look back on this one after you go through a just google search new and improved candy bar and you're going to see lots of different new and improved versions i think snickers has had a new improved like what that fresher peanuts or something less shallow martyr ratio well they just produce a different bar what i don't think snickers this change the recipe in twenty eight this is a this is a new product this is a new recipe for butterfinger right it's it's it's it's it's the feet like it's a bad it was a terrible candy i have and it's have you guys had the new one i haven't had no right at any legends right let's let's all try a new butterfinger meal you why lebanese wednesday occasion will do all getting are you guys gonna have one while you get a pedicure that's perfect so straight okay that's up from david fill in the blank michael williams will be eight wide receiver like this season like like two to three three rush from judo black will be the late round rookie draft steal from the two thousand nineteen draft percenters fantasy yeah oh says late round round rookie draft i thought that meant she late round rookie draft junior dynasty league pick okay if that doesn't couch then i'll pick a different terry maclaurin in washington will see a third rounder he was yeah i don't know what the qualifications are late round up a rookie draft okay who you're gonna take that's gonna be good free rent after the first two rounds of a rookie draft so the third or fourth surf later got okay 'em keyshawn johnson for the cars that's a good one i would surprenant as incorrectly on the nfl draft no no i interpreted as like a late round pick in a redraft league that happens to be a rookie but he clearly said late round draft pick five that's the case i'll go same thing any isabella ultra clippers end last one from rodney after race uprising two thousand nineteen season blank is most likely to become a first round draft pick in twenty twenty devon there you go first rounder a really understood leonard for net kerryon johnson marlin mac aaron jones marlin mac has such an easy path to being a top ten running back it's basically stay healthy but i guess you could say that for a lot of guys all right good stuff that you were the fill in the blanks that's how people would react to my marlin mac comment nobody did so will leave it there this is from osu's some emails now fantasy football at cbs i dot com it's a good time of year anytime anytime you wanna talk about for the next few weeks a citizen email fantasy football at cbs i dot com anes good chance will reed it on the show i also raise some questions but i prefer questions like this from allen in winthrop winthrop went through when thriving went through went through hey sterling lana mallory in ciro is it supposed to be civil shepherd right oh a simple then it shepherds you know civil shepherd is adam yes i know civil shepherd is but i don't know who's weird 'cause you larry you're not close to each other on your keypad auto correct could be but am i supposed to know who lotta shepherded mallory shepherd are i mean everybody knows this is not this is that shepherds i'm sorry like you can't just say that i'm looking through the shepherds it's just not the case this is the famous cheaper this is archer from this is all writer archer it's a larger the upper terrible i i'm buying heavily into these zero rb draft strategy in my ten team league this year especially if i'm picking after the five spot hypothetically hypothetically if i took three premium wide receivers shepherds be afraid if i took three premium wide receivers and tight end like earth sir kiddle a would i be wise to corner the market on running back platoons for run heavy teams around five through nine like carson in penny montgomery in co inner coleman in mckinnon a what would you do if you took three wide receivers and tight end with their first four picks and a ten team league when you get away with that seem like you're still gonna be hard like i dunno of jerick mckinnon is gonna get drafted a lot of ten team league but it's gonna be hard to get chris carson david montgomery entry to win maybe get album yet so that that will be the difficult part one guy but definitely target in this approach 'em would kenyan drake yep i i think those you just have an idea of okay i want the seattle back to you take carson and then i would go penny right after if you wanna lock well i wouldn't get cute i wouldn't i wouldn't take tiny round six but i think you can get carson in montgomery like that's not a bad or or drake with one of those other guys that's not a bad way to start or very poor you know and and the thing about it is i i i disagree with you heath on mckinnon because i think once we get to the middle to the end of august and we have idea who the second guys gonna be that guy's gonna get drafted whereas mckinnon rubbery right we just don't know if it's gonna be border where beginning go yesterday i'm not talking now okay i'm telling you wants to mccain definitely got drafted 'cause we went sixteen so he went yesterday yeah a i i just think that as that that second guy emerges because right now tevin coleman is gonna have to be pulled from that job just because he's healthy so you can you can get tevin coleman and then just if you're doing you're drive now you know you just take a shot on on who the second guy maybe mccain when a hundred and six overall yesterday p pr draft that's round nine in a twelve team league this the ten team league so if you are going zero rb spending two picks on one backfield i don't know that that that's the right thing to do 'cause i don't know how you guys on the backfield limiting the amount of audio hates about taking carson penny right away i think you try and get carson and then somebody else and then penny around will lose their in round six i think well if he you know he saying he has he opportunity get two of those three guys to those four guys if it's carson montgomery drake and coleman you take two of them yeah yeah doing that jesus the back half of the first round the sixth round pick fifty three fifty right so you definitely take away of course right yeah if it's maybe i'm not sure that he didn't say by the way those people growing up i'm answer that already be fewer i don't think three rb is better and making it a this is from rev on from heats favorite bruce city in michigan of grand rapids michigan dear heat cy david hooper clip but really it's mine jamie's water boy in adams bain i'm doing some best ball leagues and i feel like the french he i i have a question for you is a it is a grand rapids good for for just be do they have good good good good eight eighty well that that that that that leads me to believe that it yet i was wondering what shouldn't pressured would come first now i can't do that anymore but that's kind of what he said in then batman in dark knight great movie i'm doing some basketball leagues and i feel like the friendship strategy is great here i was a kid do it what are some good receivers the get cheap in late with the friendship strategy like kiki and fuller allison synonym yes what do you think christian kirk and andy isabella love love love de allison nbs the only problem with that is you almost have to take one of them a little bit early because when i see a lot and the best ball draft in the sooners one of them goes embryo oh yeah oh yeah take i've tried to analysts draft and i failed both times how about the bills guys now later on which which john brown and robert foster between the two of them i think one's got a shot the catch a deep ball each week of the season that's it i'm not talking like round nine oh yeah if you're looking like the eighteen nineteen twenty range and you'll be gone by i'd rather spots i like or sixteen seventeen range i like be trey kwan ted getting combo yeah when do you think you could get anthony miller in taylor gabriel late late well miller middle of the late you like before around ten right and gabriel is gonna be waylaid what do we do you guys like that team teammate strategy friendship strategy yet best ball sure right next emails firm cody ten team dynasty league my first pick in the rookie draft is the third pick in the second and round i traded my first round pick so this'll be number thirteen overall i have patrick mahomes i would like to eventually stack him with nicole hardman but i'm certain with the possible tyreek hill suspension how many games tyreek hill need to be suspended for me to not draft a nickel hartman if he suspended only four games i look elsewhere but if it's six they're more i might take a chance with hardman at thirteen yeah i think he's worth it because if tyreek hill doesn't resign then hardman dynasty value gets exponentially higher i think he's looking at the question wrong how many games tyreek hill suspended should not matter if you think he's good enough to be a quality starter in the nfl and he's on the chiefs the next four years then he's worth the thirteenth pick regardless of how many games tied reaches next email no name here oh jerry jerry from salem oregon what's up deacon boozer and scale those are shepherds quick question twelve twelve team non pbr with one first round keeper i'm planning on keeping mccaffrey for my first round keeper but i'm debating on picking the best available player or the target one of the big three tight ends a last year i stream tight end and i came in second in my league we won't know the draft position is or draft day so that might impact my draft choice so anyway i guess so he's keeping mccaffrey i guess he's asking about who taken with his first pick a best available or do you go with the with the tide any kind of reach for a tight end if you stream titans last year in you didn't think you benefited from it then you should absolutely target one of those big three tight ends i love having you advantage of having a tight and that plays like a top fifteen receiver in my tight end slot every week it's a huge advantage cheer team it's worth the price you have to pay those guys are really good and you won't have to bother streaming the position during the year it's going to depend on what everyone else does and who everyone else keeps me yeah and also repack i mean you know i i think the the thing you don't wanna pay yourself is into is 'em you you know okay i'm i'm picking six and i'm taking kelsey and then there's somebody who's better know don't necessarily believe that they're the three tight ends that they're gonna come off are gonna be great but i when overlook what ingram's potential could be now back and being gone we talked about that a lot obviously a what oj howard could do if he stays healthy he's gonna be a monster 'em what a hunter henry could be now that he's healthy you know those three guys have a big opportunity in front of them 'em so it's a producer the high low end last see now by the way deacon do are from days gone i've never heard of days gone but before you go there i just wanna go back to the previous one about me coordinate 'em i'm looking at the atp right now on fancy football calculator for ricky only dress a it's surprising what's what's change a little bit since we've done our job nicole hardman is not going now until seventeenth in a rookie expected yeah he's fallen 'em still came butler at sixteen i think that's a little too soon a single whiteside is push himself the thirteen paris campbell most fall in the talk behind deebo samuel marquees brown is still the third receiver off the board goes metcalf i'm sorry goes in the fourth receiver goes nikiel harry metcalf aj brown and then marquees brown and daryl henderson his push himself now all the way up to six overall oh one more email some joey in orlando good afternoon aj thin carl and luke i don't know yeah that's a it's wrestlers it's ww i don't know what the new group is called that's the bullet club he's twelve team keeper league we have a wrestling podcast by the way it's called state of combat jewett half cpr twelve team keeper league any always be promoting for the aroma i need one from the following the pair with my final season of Jose Dye Joins Karim Kanji and Gregg Tilston on Welcome To The Music
"My Name is Joseph di I'm a broadcaster on Indiana. It's welcome to the music with our next guest. Spent nearly twenty years hosting getting the midday show at one or two point one the edge. She's been performing onstage in one form or another since she was a nine year old in the Toronto suburb burbot pickering. Today she hosts the popular morning. Show on Indie eighty-eight. She is a runner and avid supporter of a number of causes and charities locally Oh Kelly and as a huge inspiration to many women in TV and radio across the city and country. Please welcome to the show. Our two hundred guest west and mom of two adorable boys Josie. Di Hi beautiful thank you. He's good at that. Yeah that was really nice. I'll sit down greg so one of the things that we do like to do with Kareem. Were very patriotic right. Absolutely right we support our our Canadian teams and everything so we like to start off our podcast with the national anthem. And what we usually do we ask our guest I so I mean like come on. That'd be funny in two thousand and that's it it's over the next go. Hey wait for those this not inside baseball show so for those. Who Don't know you sang? Shang Yup do till stories your story. I sang the national anthem. Can you swear on your choice. Absolutely okay I did it for a television show. I fucked it up. I was probably of everybody. WHO's ever fucked up the anthem in the world? I think I was rated number two you behind Roseanne Barr. I sold the rights to this youtube. Well my actual video to funniest home videos one ten thousand dollars for it from there. I pivoted the worst thing that happened to me into a national radio show which across Canada from there I sold the trust. Trust that I did on the actual. Oh Canada on Ebay and I think I spring boarded probably one of the worst worst things to happen to me in to the best thing that happened to me. So if you ever get a chance to fuck up or Canada yes do it. Ten thousand dollars. I ten thousand per Erik. I actually got to almost sixty thousand dollars from US come on ESPN so ESPN financial home videos. This is I do believe owned by the same company so they aired it a lot and then they had to pay me royalties so great. That's a good deal. I know here I thought that would just give me some quick little bit to make a move on and actually did a Ted talk about it and I've been talking a lot about it and people everywhere I've really interested in and how what what what happened. And how you get from that kind of a situation and move on from it because it's really horrible to go through something like that. Ah The the humiliation is just horrible. People think they're always prepared for something but they're never prepared for that kind of humiliation. I I can't imagine what it'd be like to be a celebrity and you know have something in the media occur dash in or something like that so I think you just gotTa take the best of what comes your way and and I own it now and I'm even cool with hearing. It sometimes sometimes can sing a lot right now. They're learning it in school. They come home singing. I'm I'm like Oh no foreign six. I might one day. You'll know when they're under fifteen and they're pissed off with you. They're going to turn it on. Walk in the door. Don't tell me what so growing up in pickering Yummy now you've been on the radio for fifteen years. Were you always a fan of radio. Yes yes I was so I wanted to be a singer and I. It wasn't right and my come from a family of musicians and my dad said to me. You know if you are going to be anything in music he'll do that on your own so make sure you actually go into university for something else just in case to have a fallback and I couldn't think of anything I wanted to do. Except for the fact I listened to the radio all the time to hear music and so I kind of chose that woods which stations where you're listening to. Oh my God I like six forty. It was like the hog or something the thing back then or I don't know six eighty two I'm talking. I was really young so way back music on succeeding. Music was on six eighty. I also also would listen to humble and Fred on. CSM Y yeah and six eighty six forty. I would just basically turned from one to the other. I really just listen for the music and then when I heard a broadcaster I'd kind of try to do the same thing. They did interesting when when I think about like your time at at the edge. CF and why. I think about a lot of the strong female. Broadcasters like you think of May and thank you took over for me I took over for Kelly or Kelley may before four. Maybe four may was somebody that I used to listen to all the time all the time. So was there. I wasn't there. She had just left to do but she was in the building because she she was doing six forty so yeah she was definitely somebody who i. I loved listening to her. On the raiders. The sound of her voice so so it was soothing. I actually heard her do a commercial. I guess the edge yesterday and it made me me think. Oh my God. I'm back in the nineties of CFM white and there was really cool was there was there a a DJ or or a host television radio. That you'll looked up to at that time was it was. It was probably may say so for sure. Yeah I would probably say for sure. She was the one that I think. I've I've always told her that she'd be the one that I would try to mimic and I do a lot of recording on in Maine like my little tape deck and then I would try to put myself take her out for me and so yeah so you did you. Did you go to college or university. Radio and television radio and television. So you knew right away. This is what you wanted to do now. I mean it's weird so I was was always wanted to be a singer. I was in musical theater. My parents put me in it like when I was really young. I'm did musicals in the city and I started interning at ninety nine point nine when I was before university so my parents were always like you need to know and you need to go for what. Oh you WANNA do in like grade nine. So when I was in grade ten I took the bus down to the city to Internet. Ninety nine point nine so I kind of already had that and then And then I want university. I just thought I'll probably do radio or TV RADIO AND TV program. So I knew I was going to do one of the two nine point nine. I'm before University University University. I was interning for be and then I came over to ninety nine point nine and I was a producer and then in my second year at University versity I started doing four. Am to five am on Aaron Saturday nights. Just talk or just talk three times like over the song that's that's it come in life from four. Am to five am on a Saturday night. That's crazy yeah. Did you get to play your own music. No no I just talked to three retouched. Yeah nothing else. That's don't just give her the Mike for a little while just to shut me up because I just wanted it so bad. The program director was like all right. It give you one hour on a Saturday night just to shut you up so you talked about doing theater child do you. Do you remember your first performed yet. I I don't know if you remember I I think it's still exists the limelight dinner theatre. Why my dinner theater every Jew believe it's still on Eglington on young street? Yeah so I did that. S- played the role of Morillas in the music man. And that was. I was in grade four and I had a tutor. I didn't. I went to school halftime and had a tutor. Wows crazy. So Oh you and greg known each other for how long ten years ten years ten years outside outside of music and travel. There's something the two of you have in common like. If you go back to when you were nine years old hickory cream music the music man. You're the music. No who did you play. Throw my long. Anybody know what this musical savell is. It a screw is like God stop talking talking about. Nobody wants to hear musical. Tell us about. What was the music man about? Oh my God Craig. So it's it's basically a guy who comes into town and the town things do a gift or I guess he will say and he comes in to teach the kids how to play music and and it seems like it's this hoax. He's not like he does go from town to the town is a conure. It goes from town to town but he falls in love with winthrop's sister right. If I'm remember this correctly Marion as she was a music teachers who was the music teacher and Amaryllis or as winthrop would have said umbrella umbrella list he so ridiculous winthrop winthrop and of course being whatever ninety eight years old. I use it. You would like the musical right. Yeah you're the music Oh context and you play the music underneath. We'll do we'll do better than the music. Why don't we activate okay? So here's That's line that that'll be like all right. I'll play Mrs Peru. I am so sorry mess rule do you. You know my role. What's your rule? I haven't radio role. Now that myself and Matin Carlin we have already decided and we have a few radio rules on the morning show and our rule number one never act ever ever no acting involved. You'll just recite the lines here. We go. I'm having a party on Saturday. I'd like you to come Well I'm a realist. Asked you to her party are you going are not more. No unless you know what no thank you have. This already worked town fake. ooh You know the little girl's name my apart. Where Am I? Where am I when this one? I bet he won't say it and I do remember who went Thorpe. No thank you morillas. I'm a real morale and see. Yes curry go. The man McMahon. I was young. We'll see if that gets edited witnesses so working the edge. Yeah for what seventeen years almost. Yeah Yeah we did you start off at the afternoon Schumer. Where do you work your way up there? Were you doing first jobs. I swing announced her so I did every job as the swing announcer on radio station. chaumet basically they mostly do weekends and overnight but when somebody's away they will also cover their shifts so if the morning shows away you cover their shift if the afternoon show you just basically cover. Everybody's shift you're all over the radio station. That sort of stuff was that you're outside of the four. Am Shift at CEA Furby district. I sort of real role in radio. No actually hosted swing shift at ninety nine point nine okay before I went to see if ah doing swing it. I guess now the Virgin and I love to go to the the edge okay so going to the edge young woman just getting started radio few years and conic station. Yes what were your thoughts going into into that. My God I remember my sister Buying Me Book About Rock Music. And she's like I remember saying saying because you love this music and this is part of you but you don't have to you. Don't I never pretended to be something on. Wasn't I never pretended to give me a music expert. And then when you're on the edge at that time so this is back in the beginning. This is I guess to thousands early. Two two thousand people expected the broadcasters to be music experts so I remember my sister getting me this rock book and I knew cool nerve. How did I say at Nirvana while? She's like don't ever say nirvana why she's like. You don't understand when people will like they'll rip into its Nirvana. Don't ever say Nirvana so little things like that. Were really hard to figure out But it just took some time and then and then I got I. Hopefully I figured it all out brings me back to episode hundred. Remember when when we had meister when I was and you were talking about one of the League people. He's collaborated with what was that person's name again carrying so crates eight. He's socrates. Yeah he's like and then what about the timing worker so creates me right. I don't know I mean still at indy. When there's a new artist and and you know they don't spell it out in your your you have no idea? Sometimes I won't say the artist's name if it's brand new. I'll just say the song name is I'm like I don't WanNa mess that up. Have you messed up on early. Someone's one's name okay. Sure I have yet but nothing that you would remember require nothing that I remember now. No now but I'm sure I have nothing miss up. Everything is all what I'm known forest messing things up which brings me to today's show in the morning and the question was asked. Yeah 'cause you're prepping four your family feud that's right and and one of your co host. I don't remember it was at that was asking the questions and he said one item in your kitchen. Would you not want someone to put in their mouth and you said Soup Assu part of all of the items in the kitchen. I don't know why. So that part laying not deterred doubly. I Dunno some the poison rat poison or something under the sink or I was leading. He had his computer turned to me and I wanted to win and I thought I saw soup but it was actually so I just wanted to say quicker than Carlin. I didn't even actually listen to the question. I said soup but it was. I'm not asking those GonNa ask how good of a cook are you that you won't even. Oh I don't cook that was experienced on and I was really bad but not bad like that. I was just normal. I didn't say ridiculous things. It's it's quite difficult. You go up and you think you watch family. Feud family feud Canada's coming to to to our television and the media. Got To do a preview of it today and you you watch it on television and you think Oh my God I could easily play one of these game shows. And then you get there under that kind of pressure. Those lights and the microphones and the cameras and then when they come to you and Jerry di comes to me and he's like Joe see here we go boom. And you're GONNA okay but I didn't. I got the third a strike in one of the questions. So who's GONNA be televised. You know I don't know parts of it possibly that'd be fun to watch. Yeah so so. You're at the edge. She gets to interview all these cool musicians yes you. Who's your first interview? Do you remember. Yeah I remember the Stiller I don't even know who they are. Greg takeover yeah who were so. It wasn't the worst interview I've ever ever had in my entire life was then was it. You was what was it. It was them. I'm going to say it was. Yeah it was nine. Am I don't know if you know that it's Stiller's their reason people know the distillers is 'cause she was married to Josh Hami of Queens. It's Don age but they you just separated last week big deal. I see we're going. Yeah Yeah because I think think of going if you wanted this nobody tells the story the story so it was possibly the worst interview you ever had They came in drunk at nine. Am there was four of them and my boss did not want them on the air. But I was a huge distilleries family actually really loved them and it was my first interview and so it's really excited and I thought it was an horrible. It wasn't the best. They were drunk so they gave me nothing. Okay absolutely nothing and my boss is like just talk about cleans the Stone Age. That's all he really wanted me to talk about. This don't inch because no one knows who this like. Not Not many people here know the distillers right so I kept on bringing up her boyfriend Josh. Hami of Greens a Stone Age. She didn't like that anyway. So I guess this was about six months ago. Maybe less than that. She who at time. She's still Josh. She posted the video. Oh yes from back in two thousand and one and then the anatomy of interview. She posted it online. Talked all about the interview which was awesome and then so the guys at work or like. Don't do anything everyone because everyone's like. Oh that's that's show see. I know with that girls and the guys are like just be you know the bigger person and go online and say oh. Hey Brody. I'm so glad you you're able to get that video. I've always wanted it from my archives or something like that so I wrote that I went home and deleted it and then my road a million things on on her and then all her fans wrote to me and then Josh stepped in Queens. This donate each and started liking every one of my posts and I was like doing it to be funny. He signed with me like I don't know because he loved the edge and get a lot of interviews. Actually when I had had my baby Josh sent me a message just to fake congratulations. It was really sweet He was in town and we were supposed to get together for an interview and actually went into Labor and he sent me this beautiful message so I thought okay. Maybe he's either really on my side or he's just joking around anyway. Last week I find out there. I'm divorced so I don't know why applied I will say that he didn't let you had a hour notice. He liked to everything. Everything is posted against his ex wife coach. That was pretty interesting. Wow I just wanted to. Yeah no that was the first ever interview at Santan Y it was horrible. Wow yeah that is crazy. Yeah what was it the first interview that you did that you got excited about. Oh man this thing is back in those days like it would be every day somebody was coming in so I think probably the the first big artist I had was Perry Farrell had him which was amazing and then after that I would just got interviewed Chris Cornell and I got to interview Bano and I got to interview all of them. So how were they just not on the Mike versus when the lights on like do they turn into different. Does the act commodity this Bardo Become Bajo with always on. He's always I was always on. It depends on who you're talking about billy. Corgan is the worst human being ever known. Oh yeah is he. Yeah why why single nine there are two things that you would greg. No haven't either. I'm blocked on twitter by billy clubs. He talked he. Just yeah because I keep bringing up that show Red Hot Chili Peppers Pearl Jam smashing Pumpkins. I'm can show at the concert hall and I bring that up every chance I get as he was such an asshole. Oh he is such an asshole okay. So let's let's Josie y Billy Corgan off air. We asked for a picture and he just turned his nose down like he was no he was not having it he was mean he was cold he was he was just. There's not one thing I can actually say like He. He he just wasn't a great guy doesn't affect. How whether it's Billy Corgan? If I didn't do that interview bookie did that interview so I got to witness all abet but yeah it definitely affected. The way book interviewed him for sure. That's crazy. Does that impact. And they'll music. Did you listen to you fuck it. I'M NOT GONNA listen to smashing pumpkins anymore. Because he's so hard. Raziq is some great music. I love his music. I despise lies him but I love his music to. I don't think I don't think I mean that's a big debate. You can start getting into Michael Jackson and all the rest but I don't. I don't know I don't think uh. I don't think it affects the way I listen to music. Yeah what happened at. Were you at that same concert now. No concert whatever. What happened the constant? What did you see to have billy Corgan blog? You just bring it up on twitter numerous times and finally being a Baloch. You're being a troll is being trolled before there were twitter trolls. I think because I've been blocked from very longtime by. No I just I mean it was it. Was We all going to see right out chili peppers. They were headlining smashing pumpkins. We're opening up and then opening up. The actual. The whole show was banned that nobody knew ten had been released but wasn't doing anything at that point joint and Pearl Jam get up there and absolutely crush it just completely blown away Eddie betters climbing across the I belkin me and I think you had a broken arm but I'm not sure but again Eddie vedder story if you want so. When I was interviewing him actually myself often an old broadcaster Martin Streak at most sedan theater? He came out and they were all these fans there but didn't recognize him because he had just cut all his hair off. This is the first time he showed up in public with haircut off and he asked us within closest bike path was and yes it guy in front of me where the closest bike path was and this guy is like are you later right. He's like I don't know the Huey W and and at ease like we're security. W and this other guy. I started laughing his head off. He's like go over there man going up and you'll see the highway. How thank you so much thank you and then he lefts and then is like you know that was Eddie better right I think? Think guys there to see Eddie vedder. That'll make that is nuts. They're as much as there are assholes. It was like Billy Corgan. There are some Super Nice P. O. Shining like like remember. Remember being at a an awards show back when I used to play back in the day and Uh this guy bumps into me and turn around and you go. I'm terribly sorry I bumped into my name's my name's Robert Palmer. I know you're like I don't know who you are like. That's class right. That's the opposite of Billy Court Acri. Sorry we're together on this music. Man This is so much more. We're going to learn each other over the last ten years I guess is let me ask this. Who's the nicest person you had a chance to interview The nicest or someone who you thought this guy. I know he's a jerk or she's a jerk. Whatever but afterwards you go dang that the person's actually pretty cool? I don't know I don't know if I have anybody like that. That comes to mind the mind. Let me think here. I don't know I think I don't have them. I don't have expectations. I've kind of just go in because you never know how you're GONNA get hadn't artist and what they're going to be like some of my favorite interviews. I mean I think I've probably vocally talked about this express. This a lot downing is amazing. He was amazing. So yeah he's up there and S for the others. I Dunno Chris. Martin was great when you mentioned Gordon and one of the things that we wanted to talk about was not about Gordon but the inspiration and your trip to innovate of it. Nicole call it apparently not but yeah just like none of it was incredible. You did you go and when did you go. I went to none of it at just. After Gordon passed so soon I guess it was the beginning of two thousand eighteen and I went with Dallas Dallas Crane sitting color. My husband Manages Dallas and so we went out. We all went up there in Dallas to play up there and yeah us so we got a actually a company sent him up there and so I wanted to kind of join. I don't usually tour with my husband but I wanted to go this time. And it was so- I opening an unbelievable and depressing and it was. It was one one of those experience costs a lot of money to go to none of it a lot of money. The plane flight just to get there. The hotel generates fifteen dollars for watermelon their fifteen eighteen dollars because everything has to be shipped in and when we when it was in July and it was sunny for almost twenty three hours of the day which there's a small window of that right now it's completely black pitch dark completely black up there and you can't see anything but there's no roads it's all just mud. It's a small tiny town where the houses they're not even houses they're kind of like little portables everywhere shacks and they're falling into the ground and it's It's just it's sad it's really sad. Did you come away with any appreciation or sort of burning to do something really curious in terms of for sure you lift with. Oh my gosh for sure. I wish we could all go to none events and to other areas moose jaw and other areas to see what's going on but yeah I mean I don't think I really understood what Gord wanted to do and why it was such a huge concern especially when he was dying being from cancer and I thought Oh my God you're dying from cancer and you have this amazing platform right now to raise money for brain brain cancer and yet yet he wanted to talk about the indigenous issues. And then you go up there and you see what they're going through you see not just that you see talk to the people. I talked to a lot of girls girls. My Age I went to a cemetery was under twenty five year olds so you think why is doc. Twenty five and under it's all suicides twenty five and under and most of it comes from mental health and the reason why is because it comes from generation to generation so their parents or their grandparents were told they were worthless human beings over and over especially in these residential schools so they have zero self worth and then they teach their children the same sort of values. And it's kind of instilled in them and these young girls. I was talking to their like. It's so hard to have self esteem because my my mom had zero self esteem of your parents have an. It's just that's just one tiny tiny issue compared to the millions of other issues. Here's the have you. Did you see or experience any beauty up there. Oh my God that the land is beautiful. The land is gorgeous. You Kind Kinda feel like the clouds and you are one like they're so far down there so low and even just a polar bears I get to see. And they're dangerous and Yeah you kind of feel at one weather. Whatever your religious beliefs are you feel at one with with your God or whoever for that is because it's you feel like you're right up there? It's pretty incredible. That is nuts. How how does how does that? Twenty three hours daily doesn't mess with you. Yes her to sleep. When you're tired or Yeah I? I tried to stay up the whole time because we were only there for four days so I really wanted to stay up and just be like when when is it gonna get dark. It definitely messes with you. And I'm sure it's right now when it's pitch black up there it's messing with them as well as crazy. Yeah that's awesome. That's an experienced. Oh Yeah for sure. Yeah I was there in July. I was wearing a winter jacket really even in July. It it was. I mean I probably had a cold time like it was a little colder as a cold front coming in was cold but Yeah it was called like eight degrees. You've had a chance. Excuse me from Rome to interview both of the Gallagher Brothers. Yes yes I do. How do they all tell me how much it's better is? That where you're going to. Of course it's no really. Oh my God. There's no question nos considerate. He looks at you he stares through you. He's beautiful awful he's funny. He writes all the good songs. She is a witty his brothers. The asshole drunk. Wow Yeah because I can never tell on twitter like it's always know all those the best one interesting yeah all right although Liam has a good song right now a really good song long yet. But it's usually always know somebody else wrote must've written at all for him who have not interviewed that you would love to chat with in this. Sean I don't know if I've ever not interviewed somebody I've wanted to interview That's some crazy. Have you interviewed. Neil young now I've never interview. I don't know I would like to mad. You got to have a conversation with him. Yeah Timeout Yeah. I did in Peterborough have not do the show that show but it wasn't taped and then with amazing tell me about. That was awesome. I I was lucky enough to get one would have thought it was great. I was lucky enough to get one of the spots that there and all of his neighbors were there and we were sitting with his neighbors us and yeah it was just it was awesome. I mean I don't know if I probably had nothing to say to them. That's the thing when you're it's Neil Young. What are you supposed to say what did you you know? I think jolt in my husband did most of the talking. We were really interested in why he did that. Show for Bell. Now that show that he Can't remember what it was called homecoming home. Homeward bound. Something like that because it was in. His hometown was just near Peterborough. What's the town near Peterborough? That he's from or Mimi only ah yes and he still knows everybody you know maybe and I think that his parents or dad still lives in on me and I think that's what we thought it was. There's a school is data's is pass. Yes there's a school named after. Yes and then he gives all the money he does concerts for that I guess is cree and when he was there instead instead of getting a hotel we were in the only hotel that was there and it was a shit hole but he instead brought his trailer up and him and his girlfriend at the time they just lifted onto the trailer for a week before show. That is so cool. That's my gym interview. So so here's one thing that I'm worried about and you tell me whether you've experienced this is interviewee your hero or your heroes. Yeah and walking away disappointed. Well mine was court and it was amazing. So I didn't didn't walk away disappointed by second would be probably Noel Gallagher annually and I Love Oasis and Dole was unbelievable. I I think that would. I don't think I have any other musical heroes. I Chris Cornell I mean even if you don't like soundgarden and you're like sound great maybe but you'd still have audio slave because obviously it was unbelievable. You really was. I feel like there needed to be another audio slave album and Chris Cornell was great. It's really good so I think I think I studied for those ones. You know really the other ones. I don't study for but the ones that you really love you study as awesome. I want to talk about two people that you've mentioned already. Yes yes so I was I come from the CF tr days right so that was that was my music I will listen to see. Tr Top up six at six listening to their DJ's. Tom Rivers Mike Cooper. That's who I listened to. I was never see if in why person for some reason Never Internet never you know as I was growing up. My formative years never never listened to that stuff stuff so I never got to know inexperience. People like Martin streek yeah Or even bookie yeah I I think I remember hearing bookie just recently before he obviously before he passed. So you know. And I've heard people talk about the importance Hortensia. These two gentlemen talk to me about the humanity of them. So I I you know Martin Streek who was he. Would he be mean to you. Toronto to you so Martin and I worked together for about. I guess maybe five years before he passed. We weren't really close. I was close with his girlfriend very she was. She's she is one of my best friends. But he was older than I was so I was yelling doing swing but he did his evening show and he was always great to me. He'd bring me and he always had a crowd right so when you're doing your show it's just usually you and your microphone but everybody wanted to watch Martin work because he he was he had a way about him. He had his own language He talked in a manner that no other broadcaster talked he was cool. Well he dripped used cool. You know where everyone kind of wanted to be like him or wanted a piece of what he had. He owned the the nightclub scene in Toronto and it was a to be around him. You felt like you are part of that. My part of best this life that he had that seemed like it was bigger than ever you know he was definitely a mentor. He definitely put me on the radio every time I was in the studio with him so I would just be their Messiah computer working and like Josie get the Michael. Open it up open. Let's talk most of my friends. Were extremely really close to him so I was also the new girl. Even after five years I was still the new girl But he also had his demons and I'm sure everyone will notice that and he was extremely passionate sometimes chew compassionate at work you know. He thought and championed bands. My my husband started the your cows would never have been on the radio. If it weren't for Martin was was in those music meetings where we in those music meetings. We would fight in those meetings all of us. We would fight over what we thought. Should this was back in the day when we had a voice and we would fight over what should and should not be on the radio and Martin got our calls on the radio. I hope our hope Max. You're listening you're remember that but he definitely that Wa my life. My favorite music meeting story of a Martin was going back the early ninety s and early jibe was leading like PD. I think at the time. Or whatever and Martin was young and we were all young and earl had our band come in and play us as one of the songs as they were reviewing the song. But what really stuck with me has nothing to do with that has do. It was when faith no more released war pigs the copy of black sabbath and I just remember earl puts that on and Martin mm starts flopping on the ground and just the personality and this is the first time I had a chance to meet him. The personality that came out of it was just like it. Was it just overwhelmed. The Room it was just I absolutely incredible. They will still talk. I mean people still wish the obviously that he was he was part of the FM ym when he was let fellow that was From the edge that was that was a hard hit to every single listener. Yes hard talk to me about bookie it's like. Everyone seems to know him like who who was he. Would he be mean to the music industry. TORONTO WELL YEAH THAT'S A. That's a hard one. He meant everything To The music industry in Toronto he also champion bans but all the time he he connected people. That's what he did not not just on air but off here he found a little indie artist and connected them to a record label he found a record label guy and connected them to New York Management Company. He connected enact people he was unique. He was eccentric. He took me on this little girl from pickering with blonde hair. Who walked into Zia from why this radio station full of intimidating men dot the time? That's what it was. There's no may pots. It was it was intimidating to walk walk into that role at that. That job it was coming from the suburbs was hard to do and I think the only reason I fit in and stayed there for seventeen years is because I had my best friend bookie beside me. That's why and the reason book was. My best friend was because he saw past the suburb girl from Pickering Greg. And that's what he did with everybody. There was no judgment there was he knew who you were. He got to know you. He asked questions he he. He was eccentric and the way that he wasn't what you think he wants. You think he's as he would say that Jewish man he'd always say everyone takes. I'm a certain way I'm this Jewish guy who's you know I'll a so cool because he had this cool vibe but bookie has had a cool cool vibe but yet he'd watch Gilmore girls with me. I would watch soap operas every single day. He'd call me and we'd spend two hours on the phone together while all. We are watching television before he died. He he's a calm kids all the time you and he'd facetime and I remember looking at my phone and being like there's there's this facetime message with bookie that lasted sixteen minutes and I was like what is that and it was my at the time with my four year old. Who just by accident facetime him and probably probably bookie watched him look at the couch optimistic feeling and I don't think my four year old even knew that book was their public waited the whole time? Well my my son was on face time with him bookie obviously it was a big loss to the music community to his friends to his family. Just yeah can can we can talk about. Music counts where 'cause I know last year Kelly. Your school was a beneficiary of of a grant by musicale. So so in bookies honor you guys have increasing significant amount of fun council so we are so far. We're going to give ninety thousand. We raise seventy thousand in one day a week after bookie past and we're giving ninety thousand and we're going to do another another. We're basically going to all the schools ten of them this year. We're starting in January so we'll do a couple a month and give them insurance entrance and then teach them about bookie be like they're getting the instruments in memory of bookie and we're gonNA tell them a little bit about who bookie was and And why he was so important in the music same awesome apparently had this huge record collection he had just sold it all all for music counseling. Excellent sonic boom and he had six hundred records. Yeah that's amazing that's really really cool. You spend time at the edge yes. Did you have both of your kids while you were there. Yes yeah for two months and because they were owned by chorus yes you had the opportunity to television as well sir. Also I will. I don't like to to word it like that. Okay I addition for the TV. That I and there was about six hundred girls and we went through a real rigorous process. And then I I got the job I like to say it like that and stuff okay but it helps that I guess I did how was TV very different than radio. We Oh my God yeah. Very what sort of muscles are you starting to use in television rather than radio. It's funny people always think that you can do one or the other. They are easily interchangeable. And they're not It's completely different muscle. It's not just teleprompter but it's how you look how you talk. How you move with your hands? How you sound convincing and then how you look again yes so this is completely different? Do you have a preference. Oh radios my property. Yeah Oh my God yeah if TV my preference I probably would have stayed a course. Okay yeah so that leads to the question is you had all these opportunities. You're doing a lot of different things. Things at chorus was your choice to leave. Yes why why leave a coup location nation. Yeah a company where there's tons of opportunity to go to this little house and Liberty for college. Oh this little house has not so little anymore anymore. Why did I we well? I guess there was a lot of a series of events that led to me leaving. I had done a morning show after Dean blundell left with a couple of people that didn't work out and then I had to matt leaves and I was Kinda shuffled around during my matt leaves. Okay my second Matt Leave. I came back I was about to come back and then they told me I had a one hour show and I was like I'm not going to go on. I knew what the outcome would be. If you start doing a one hour show and radio give yourself six months and you'll be fired. That's what I thought. And they tried to convince me. NO WE'RE GONNA make you the music girl and we're going to do a one hour just about music with you and you know and it was great intentions. But it's not what I wanted to do. Indicate to me me. And they're like listen. We have this opportunity to morning show so I was like okay. I don't know if I WANNA leave. Chorus had this TV career going at chorus as well. So I kinda told chorus indies. Come of course was like Kay. We'll we'll give you a morning show so and the TV show and you know what what. I love you chorus but I like the ex boyfriend were it's like yeah okay. We'll give it to you now that someone else wants you you know. I just didn't feel inspired. And I was really excited about indy. I just I've been listening to it a lot and I felt like they're on the verge of blowing up up and I think it was a really good decision. Opportunity the opportunity now. Don't get me wrong. I Love Chorus and I love all the people at Chorus. I just think where I was was I had been there for seventeen years and I needed something different and that was my. That was my kinda start a new life challenge at Indy. And I think it worked out really. Well you've got a husband that has his record label that student fantastically well you do in the morning show when you got two little. Toddlers cobblers running. You're like how do you manage. You should see our our life so chaotic so chaotic. It's actually sometimes. Sometimes I think it's like am I living my life or my running from one place to another to another. I get up at a quarter to four in the morning and I have to. I can't I can't put my are you ready for. This is how you know how crazy my life is so. I can't put my alarm on because I sleep with my son who has special needs and he needs to be beside. Let me. That's the thing so we're fine so I put my phone in my sock so I saw on. I wear socks at flee the vibration even on the counter will wake came up so I put in my sock so that I can hear it vibrate on my foot and then I slowly go down to my foot take it out without turning the light on because if the light turns on he wakes up. I tiptoe into the bathroom were all my clothes. Are I have flashlight. I put the flashlight on in the bathroom to brush my teeth. Usually by that time he's woken up. Yeah and then. He needs to watch me leave. He meets the heat at four in the morning. He means it says he's got he's he's he's got some issues he needs to see my car. Leave the house so I have a nanny come to the house at four he watches me leave. And then I go do my show and then my husband's opens up at five and sometimes my husband comes home attend to five and then gets up with the kids at five. Wow yeah that's it's crazy. It's actually agree with you so one of the things that you inspired the two of us to do that. We've Never Doug your phone in your doc when you go to sleep knowing we've never done this before. We talked about this last week or the week before. We both went and got our flu shots before thank you. Yeah and yeah which is a bigger deal for you. What's a huge deal for me because I hate hate needles? I mean Kelly was with me and I told the nurse that I might have to lie down or I'd be lying down by the end of this but by no it just just heard. We thought we wanted uh-huh knowing how big of an advocate you are. Guess we wanted to make sure it's not a great us. Just you inspired us. Well I think there are a a number of reasons why I think everyone in this room should have their flu shot and I hope everybody has now. I'm going to be like the medical side of me but Yeah a major reason is my son has special needs and he hasn't Unit issue and he exposed to any virus in a room he could die and when everybody is. Has the flu shot you. You have a better chance of not getting it. I know what people say and there are so many ridiculous myths out there. You can't get the flu from the flu shot. You can't get the flu from the flu. Shot it's so simple. It's a dead virus. I just don't know why these stupid things keep you know being brought up and when there are kids out there who have my my son's in two kids Probably four to five times a year with pneumonia. And it's like touching go a lot of the time and it's really really scary so if we can you know if more people specially the mothers and his kindergarten class are as grade one class If more people can get their flu shot then you you know it it helps. Does it impact you talk about the school that your son goes to those are the impact you send your son to score. Yes so last year I had a the Montessori where we're there was only eight kids in the class. It didn't help. I thought it may help but this year we thought okay. We'll just try public school and we'll see how it goes who's knock on wood somebody for me but it's been a really good year so far less share at this time my son was off thirty days so and it's November from Elma us. Oh this year has been way better and then we're hoping for the best so yeah we'll see I'll go it initial everybody get your. There's the listen carefully shot please. You've been in radio for a long time. Yeah and hopefully many more years to come but so much has changed the way we listen to music sharp right there. There are so many morning shows to listen to. There's so many ways that people have access to listen to music. There's podcasts now how how do you does that weigh on you. Do you think about that when you're in meetings to figure out what to do that day or for the show that we how has it impacted your job. How does it impact the way you think about doing your job content creator? I like to think all of us are her and I think when radio dies also have a job whether it be like you guys are doing podcasting or hosting my own Netflix. Show or for you know you'll never know that's the thing you you you never know when you're when you create context so the medium doesn't scare me the medium of radio. I am a believer believer. I still think it's easy. And it's local and specifically the morning time people still need to know what's happening locally in their city so I'm a believer in radio. I don't think it's going away yet but I understand it's changed. I get that I listen to podcasts. All the time I love podcasts I run to podcasts. Passed so but I also think that just means there's more opportunity for people who create content to. I don't change my show because I just do do the show for show for the people who are there and if people wanNA come relieve. That's fine but I do it for the people who are listening and I think we've done really well. We've had a really really good year on Indie so with ratings so we were doing really well already. You see you. Listen to podcasts. While you're on your favorite podcast is I love. Joe Rogan I the North Korea. Thank you for showing appreciation. I listen to it I do often. But now he's got us some crazy views. What did you think of the flu shot? I don't know for sure he doesn't get the ASTLE. I listen because because of that he shocks me with so many different things he says but I also somebody who listens like okay hypochondriac. So I have every every y'all he's always have you always been. I've had every doctor podcast on my phone. I've listened to all my Mike Joel keeps saying you got to take get full away from you. Stop watching now gluten free sugar free dairy free because of a podcast. I listen to so it says says here that you eat a popsicle today. WHO said that? I said Yeah I think that was like one thousand nine hundred nine. That's the the thing I don't not anymore. No Fair enough. So it's a good thing you didn't go and get the popsicles. We were GONNA go there. I think someone may have wrote something. Clever clever input popsicle a day. Or something I used to for my smack back in Cosmo Days Billy Bush enjoying. We're here music. I do once with this controversy but her not knowing Van Halen. I saw a little bit of that today. We hardly talked about that. She didn't know van. Halen van Halen people got upset that with her for not knowing she got upset. I you know I think love music. It's it's a different sit different demographic so Wolfgang being fan halen which is Eddie Sun. I think anyway playing now in the band doesn't know Havana Hill. In this if you ask them half donohoe billy shes half don't know who Vanity Fair Enough Moustache listen to music anyway for Wolfgang Wolfgang tweeted. If you don't know billy eyelashes give her listen. She's really cool. If you don't know who van Halen is give it a listen. They're really cool music. Bring us together other not separates us and the Shit Storm. That's happened on. Twitter is just ridiculous like I like just stupid. It's music. I agree three leads me to ask you this question about being a woman in broadcasting. I had no clue about this issue But I saw Raina Duris. Yeah tweet about it and mentioned that these are the sorts of things that she's in broadcasting as well that that women broadcasting at faced for years and years and years. How do you deal especially with social media now and everyone's got a platform to say whatever it is they want to say with filter? How do you deal with this stuff? What did rain rain say? She said what billy has gone through these past days past hours or whatever was Is similar to what female broadcasters have gone on through and you know giving giving support to that. She shouldn't have to go through this just because of her age or her gender. Whatever whatever it is you know people going on twitter and slamming her for telling Van Halen Israel was right right and I'm sure that you know if If a male actor a male musician said something similar to that wouldn't have gotten half of the just remember but I someone probably here can remember Justin Bieber saying something about an artist. Not Knowing who it was I think people people just just slammed slammed on him. I don't know if that's a female male is you. Don't WanNa make everything female issue. We have enough issues that we can just focus is on our actual issues. No offense to rain but I I don't want to do I think I I don't I don't think if you took billy Bush out of that equation and put somebody somebody else says anything. What about this same thing would have happened? People are just ready to jump on on to protect their artists. Van Halen fans. I'm sure protected their artists as female of course of course being in like I said being at him why was it was all men. I I don't even remember having a female boss back in the day and it was intimidating men and it was you know there was going having a mat. Leave worrying about your job and you know no one understands that until you come back and you have an hour show after you had one of the highest rated show on the station and you go away fray prey months and then it. It's it's definitely hard and there but that's just not at see if I'm white that's everywhere that was everywhere. Think things are changing changing. I hope things are changing indy. That we're all females sits you know my general managers female D- And had a promotions female. I'm a female leading the morning. Show basically leading these two guys so I feel. Oh very empowered feel like it's it's I think for me and my life the hardest part I think would be the Gender issue between my husband and I when it comes to whose whose work is more important right. Do you guys argue about arguments Thomas about the we doubt him and I don't or other people do other people kind of are like you know. Your husband owns us record company and manages bands hands. He's breadwinner. You know what I mean. I think people look at Joel as big power which he is powerful man in the music industry industry. But then you kind of I kind of feel a little more invisible because of it So that would be I. Guess if you were to look at any I mean I know. There's a lot of female issues out there How do you like doing well with my career? How do you deal with people from the outside? I sort of placing one above the other. 'cause you both have demanding jobs but have demanding job. You both both have two children that need attention yes right how like. How do you guys deal with all of this stuff? I don't know if we do. It's hard I don't know if we do you know that's like who's who's night is more important. You know what I mean like who who needs to go out this night more important and we have a child with special needs then there needs to be somebody there all the time so it's really quite difficult. I think that's our biggest challenge. I definitely probably feel as if you're tolls wife your wife your goals wife right. Yeah there's that for sure I hear Ya I hear but are you an introvert averge. I am so how were you like on the. How do you do this This is really uncomfortable for me. I you know. I'm not an introvert. I'm an extrovert extrovert. I when you get to know me. I'm probably the loudest person at my family dinner loudest person with my girlfriends but in new places. I'm not a AH talking to people. I'm awkward Joel. Always says my husband is complete extrovert. He's like you're the awkward person in the room. When you get to know me bookie and I were the same like that over then we actually really do speak quite often but the microphone is is a lot easier to talk through a microphone? When Ron Owens around I've talked to nobody every morning morning honestly say stupid things like you said that soup comment? I don't think anyone's actually listening. I just say whatever comes out of my mouth on this show but also I feel well as if people like that about me. Yeah people enjoy that people enjoy the fact that I'm completely real and I can hold my own when we talk. Politics are when we talk religion or any of the other issues that we do talk about on indie quite often but when it comes to day to day stuff. I don't give a fuck what I say. I couldn't care less. I just have fun fun. Let's talk about politics and religion sure private or public healthcare. Oh that's a hard line odds. That's that's one that's GonNa get me a little bit in trouble. I'm going to deal with. I'd have to deal with it so I had my son living at the hospital for the first six months of his life and if if healthcare were private at that time I would be completely broke right now. Thank God for not not private healthcare the same time my mom works in private healthcare and currently I love to get my son and Orion pay and go to buffalo or could get for any woman out there if you want to go into college appointment to get your test once a year versus once every three years you can go to buffalo for one hundred ten dollars and get a new problem things like that. I love that. We live on the porter for things like that. I would like private public. That's what I would like all right. I know people or hating me Greg. So my mom works in healthcare. So that's a big issue for us. Greg has a religion question. I have a religion question. Don't you no okay all right. I'm already ready Linton. Well let's talk about religion religion. Why not not not really in general not specifically but generally a lot of people said this has nothing to do with music or or anything but a lot of people said that the reason that sheer lost the election was because he didn't commit he didn't commit to whether key he believes marriage or something like that like you he didn't? He sort of skirted around the issue. Sure what do you think about that. I don't think anybody in Toronto would let sheer get in It was obvious the obvious for that but I think that the Conservatives had a really good shot after after Trudeau just shit the bed I think they had a really good shot. I think economically he would have gotten in but socially there's no way there's no way way. When he did not fight for women he did not fight for our rights and publicly? Didn't stand up for himself. There's no way so Jim jefferies couple. A couple of weeks back well just brown the election time. And he said his comment was. How bad do you have to be when you lose to Trudeau so whatever you think true or not? That's not my point. Humans are talking politics black and brown like you and I mean just just everything it was laid out to your point for the conservative with and no no shoot come back. Oh Oh he's here but he's no he he's never the same pretty boy that everyone loved in America. He'll never be that voyage to Josie. Thank you so much. I really really appreciate this. Thanks for your time. I know you're busy. No you have to wake up like in a few hours I wake up so thank you again. It's great thank you. Obviously I never looked at my nose knows because we gotta think again radical road and before the flood. That's going to play Steve. Thank you so much wherever you are. Thank you so much for your hospitality Thank get to everyone who who came in listened and if you are feeling Jenner's today please consider making a donation to socks for souls Canada. Spread on the totals prop bets Lot of gambling stuff with him. Actually Eric Su a really really sharp guy. Good guy a tab on so we'll do that as well I wanted to start with something something that I listened to and watched late last night. And it was Peyton Manning On Denver broncos DOT COM Erin Erin talking about his brother. Eli Now. I'M GONNA I'm GonNA play for you. One part of that where Peyton sort of makes the case for his brother to be in the hall of fame name but I would urge all of you GonNa play the whole thing. It's about twenty minutes long but if you have time this weekend and you've got fifteen twenty minutes to burn go to Denver broncos Dot Com and just watch peyton manning talk about his younger brother. Eli I found it to be so interesting. Because he's an aw of his brother. He respects his younger brother. Eli so much as a football player as much as a person but As a football player and he talks about him in in a way. That almost leads me to believe that. He thinks he wasn't nearly as is good as Eli at being cool calm and collected which is what he mentioned. Threes like every big pressure. Moment Eli Had the demeanor the personality to deliver when the game was on the line the most in it was actually really cool to hear peyton manning he he gets you you know. It's not that he gets emotional but he gets very animated at times talking about His younger brother. And we know that we know the manning's the the first family of football and we've seen Peyton and Eli in various. ESPN promotion in a promotional spots at CETERA. But he's the big brother allies the youngest and I just found it really interesting to listen to Peyton talk about ally but this is the one cut that I Wanted to play for everybody. He was asked as part of that interview about ally Manning's Hall of fame worthiness. Here's what Peyton Manning said. I certainly had my strong feelings and opinions on it that when you're the super bowl. MVP twice Against the greatest dynasty of all time the New England patriots. Tom Brady Bill Belichick. And you join a A list includes Terry Bradshaw barred star. Tom Tom Brady Joe Montana. Eli Manning is the only super bowl. MVP that kind of I I don't really know what that term drop the MIC is but I guess there was one out of. Maybe you know there really is no yet but after that I I kinda Kinda ends it and but if you want a year but yet yeah but he also started two hundred twenty plus consecutive games. You know sixth or seventh all time touchdowns I mean. It wasn't like he just played those two seasons. I mean he also you know just answer. The bell you know played his butt off wants some huge games for his team and so I have strong opinions on it but Kinda per. I'm going to pull an Eli. I'm going to kind of live in the president right now and not In kind of look back a little bit if you will and not you know look too far ahead not get too worried about it telling you it's worth the fifteen to twenty minutes. However long it was to watch? I just found it. I don't know there's something about the the manning's in particular that are that's very interesting And boy he talks about that Super Bowl win over the two thousand seven Patriots in particular as one of the more impressive feats of all time and he said that team was unbeatable. That's that that's a monster team of all time. That was obviously obviously the team that went sixteen in the regular season and was eighteen in. Oh heading into the Super Bowl and ally engineered that lasts drive which ended with the touchdown down pass to Plaxico burress. For the go ahead touchdown. The giant defense was awesome. You know in both of those Winning Super Bowls. But I mentioned this yesterday with Tommy. You Know Oh ally manning played big in those in the you know you can say it's just two postseasons and you heard Peyton talk about you know top. Ten top seven whatever's is yards touchdowns the whole thing. This guy had a pretty robust career in to hang it just on a five hundred overall winning record and only two postseason runs I think that's a little bit Shakey. I personally think that that Ally Manning is going to be in the hall of fame as we talked about yesterday a day. And I think while it's debatable. I think I would if I were a hall of fame voting member. I think I probably would vote for Eli. One of the reasons in Patan goes into this is just how big he played in the playoff games that led to the Super Bowl. You know they ally on the road in those two super bowl. Winning seasons had to win a combined five playoff games away from the meadowlands in two thousand seven Was January of two thousand eight. At that point they went on the road and they beat Tampa uh-huh and then on the road against the cowboys. The cowboys were the number one seed that year. That's the game. We're Romo throws an interception at the end of the game and Eli wasn't doesn't phenomenal in the game. Twelve eighteen for one hundred and sixty three yards two touchdowns no picks you know no mistakes in that game and some big time drives including getting a fourth quarter drive to give them the lead twenty one seventeen and then this is something else that Payton talked about was winning at Lambeau. In that in that frigid game game. We're Tom Coughlin's face remembers freezing. You Got ICICLES. Hanging off from his eyes and his nose and Eli goes into Lambeau Lambeau in the NFC. Title Game is an eight point underdog And is a big part of of winning. That game you know they they They beat Brett Farve in the packers. I was forbes interception in overtime that set up the game winning field goal from Lawrence Times but the giants had driven into field goal range and he missed field goal at the end of regulation nation. That would have won it And then you got You know the the the two thousand eleven season the January two thousand twelve playoffs. He goes the Lambeau uh-huh and crushes the packers again. Crushes Aaron Rodgers In the packers. Thirty seven to twenty in a game where you know. He throws for three three three and three touchdowns at Lambeau. That's that's not an easy place to win in the postseason And then beats the forty niners they get a big drive late and then you you know. In then in overtime they had the the fumbled punt that set up the game winner and then they beat the Patriots again. I just trust me on this If you got twenty minutes watch peyton manning it's available on Denver broncos DOT COM I just found it to be Peyton sort of out of character in the way we think about him. You know He was really really very Persuasive but more importantly I came away thinking wow he really in in many ways is in awe of ally his younger brother and the difference between the two and that was Eli. Was this guy that under pressure delivered consistently in the big spots in you know. Perhaps the reason Peyton feels that way. Is that Payton as a quarterback in the NFL very often at home as a number one seed in the post season didn't get through. You know peyton manning before that last year in Denver. Where're you know? Von Miller and company really one that Super Bowl for them and took them through that postseason Payton was. You know was a contributor but but certainly it wasn't the peyton manning of old Those three wins in the two thousand sixteen postseason were what gave Peyton manning a winning playoff record allies. Eli is eight and four all time in the postseason Payton was eleven and thirteen heading into that Twenty Sixteen postseason following the two thousand fifteen season And they won three playoff games over Pittsburgh. New England twenty eighteen remember they. They missed an extra point. Went for two and miss it there at the end and then over Carolina Twenty four to ten super bowl. And that's that's what gave Peyton manning is a starter a winning record in the postseason. He had a losing record heading into that with many many home losses as a higher seeded team. We're he in some of those games. He played well and in some of those games to be fair. They didn't have a great defense But Yeah I sort of got the sense of watching that Payton You know one of the things he really admired about his younger brother was is how clutch she was how he in in the personality that he had were nothing rattled him nothing bothered him and he sort of credits. That as the the reason that Eli performed well in some of the biggest games that the giants had during the course of his career anyway. I thought thought that was interesting. we'll get to Scott Jackson and talk some Talk some A wizards and Bradley beal not being voted into the on the All star team here in a moment. I'm two things though. Sort of redskins related first of all pro football focus ranked the NFL's most productive twenty nineteen rookie classes from number one to number thirty two. So they took last year's draft the rookie classes for all thirty two teams in ranked him and the Redskins came in at number one number one overall pro football focus focus wrote the redskins got average quarterback play from join haskins after he took over as the starter in week nine and outstanding performance from third round receiver. Terry mclorin play like that from two of the most valuable positions in the NFL will go a long long way toward making top draft class. Haskins got off to a rough start start to his career with two shaky performances off the bench but he rebounded with a seventy three point. Four pro football focus grade which ranked twelfth among among quarterbacks after took over as a starter in week nine About maclaurin pro football focus wrote McLaren was a revelation in twenty nineteen. He's eighty six point. Five receiving great not only led all rookie wide receivers this season but it was the highest mark since Odell Beckham. Junior's in two thousand fourteen for rookie wide receivers The redskins draft of Haskins sweat. maclaurin Oren Bryce love. Who didn't play West? Martin Russ Pierce Bacher. Who Really didn't play Cole Holcomb Kelvin? Harmon Jimmy Moreland Jordan. Bradford who really didn't play was according to pro football focus is rankings. The number one draft class of two thousand nineteen now with all of that understood. You do understand that they could go back two three four years from now and do a new ranking of the two thousand nineteen draft class in it may not be number one you know it may not be I mean that's the thing about this. NFL draft it is encouraging. Don't get me wrong. It's very encouraging that the redskins draft class is produced the way it produced wherever it ended up being ranked. You know we we saw. We saw Terry mccaren. Looks like the real deal. We saw Montana's sweat wasn't dropping into coverage that seven sacks for a rookie. Jj Watt only had five and a half sacks as a rookie Monta sweat ended up with seven sacks in his rookie season in think about that because for much of the season. What did we all think we thought Ooh he does not look good? He ended up with seven sacks. Some of those came late and he looked much better late especially when they stopped dropping him into coverage and he got more comfortable. You know I mean it was a new position for him as sort of a stand up outside linebacker in a three four You know skin sweat maclaurin Martin played you. Know showed showed promise holcomb clearly showed some promise harmon the same thing Jimmy Marlin had his ups and downs. We thought you know early in training camp if you recall last year I think a lot of us thought that Jimmy Moreland might be the steal of the draft but drafts really can't be truly evaluated. I don't think until three years after the draft. You've gotTa have three full seasons to really get a sense of whether or not the draft was a good one it's encouraging it's an encouraging aging start compared according to pro football focus anyway which I don't always put a lot of stock into. I think it's really hard to evaluate these players on on each individual play when you don't know what their responsibilities are on any given play But at least based on this one measurement the Redskins had the most successful rookie class of two thousand nineteen. Let's see where it is three four years down the road. Hopefully it still holds up. I would be surprised if Terry maclaurin doesn't end up Developing into a true number one wide receiver and his a number. You know as as the number seventy six pick overall third round not bad I would be surprised. Personally if Cole Holcomb doesn't end up becoming a pretty Influential in meaningful contributor under To The redskins defense I like Kelvin. Harmon too I liked him coming out We don't know about sweat. I had a lot of confidence in sweat. I saw flashes I know what he was in college When he was in college if he turns out to be that in the NFL it will be a great pick? It can a great trade to get into the first round and of course Haskins. We got to see you know if he continues to progress at the rate that he did at the end of last year. which was encouraging you know that that draft in twenty eighteen when you know people remember they was the two thousand eighteen draft where Bruce Allin was going around. Adapt that draft basically you know shaking hands and allowing people to pat himself on the back after they picked pain Geiss Christian and you know had some Obama player late Shawn Deehan Hamilton. And they hadn't played it down yet. I liked doron pain but dairy skies turn out to be a disastrous pick in the second round because of his health Christian doesn't look really at this point as the third rounder. Like he can play. I think settles got something to him. I- APP he's got something to him and I've always liked Shawn Deehan Hamilton to But man that was the draft. Aaron right did Bruce Allin SORTA circuit of allowing people to congratulate him. Yes on the twenty one team trapped. which again I wouldn't you know? Truly evaluate until twenty twenty one or until after the twenty twenty season which would be next year? We can sort of look back at that. Drafting next year will be a bit of telling year for dairy skies can stay healthy or not Also real quickly before we bring Scott Jackson in here Mel Kiper had his Version one O of the NFL draft mock draft number. One for Kuyper today He's got borough one. He's got chase young to now. I oh I did not see this on. Get up with Mike Greenberg and company this morning but a friend of mine texted me and Kuyper did say that he does not think it's a slam dunk. Doc that the bengals will take burrow. He thinks chase young could still be in the conversation for the Bengals at number one. I can't imagine that the Bengals won't take a quarterback. I can't imagine them not taking borough. Yup can't imagine them not taking borough exactly you know if I told you right right now that I could see the future in that on May first We were talking about to a tongue violet. Going number one overall Cincinnati you. You couldn't say that that's impossible because we don't know how he's GonNa be evaluated coming off that injury let's face it last year. This time he was the number one pick in this draft by by a long shot you know to a tongue viola was gonna be the number one pick in the twenty twenty draft Joe. Borough had a sensational year. He's going it'd be evaluated a very high level but so his tongue viola. You may get into a position a situation where peace healthy and they start work a starts you know working out. And he people are watching tape and they think he's every bit of what borough is. It'll come down to sort of a preference thing. Maybe Cincinnati prefers to. I don't think that's out of the question. The two ends up being the number one pick I I wouldn't I wouldn't bet on it. I would bet on borough right now but God we see this. Every year that between January and April everything we think about the draft in January and February so much and so much of it changes when we get to when we get to draft night in late April first round. And what were you gonNa say I was GONNA say I I agree and I do think that you're going to start. At least that is going to be a story line. Let's say at the combine or in March. You know there's always that little thing where it's like. Oh they are not one hundred percent sold on borough right you always hear that even if they are one hundred percent and that's going to be the story we hear. I just think when all of a sudden done borough zero between how good he looked this year between the fact that he's from Ohio between the fact that he is the safe pick. I'd be stunned if he didn't go. I all right. Click on the microphone at the top of the homepage type in Kevin. DC THAT STAMPS DOT COM Promo Code. Kevin DC all right. Let's bring in My good friend. Scott Jackson from the team nine eighty in lots of different places to talk some NBA All star Arvo voting. Because I look. I don't really care that much about this but I did find it interesting. That Bradley beal among players ears was voted as the second best guard in the East so for those that don't know there's a fifty percent fan vote. There's a twenty five percent player player vote and a twenty five percent media vote and that creates essentially the starting five. And then you get another five players You know based on the voting. And then you get the coaches picking. The two alternates are reserves. Or whatever you WANNA call him I I forget how it works. But beal isn't in the top ten he could get named to the team and as one of the final two and probably will but how about the disconnect Scott between Bradley beal his fan ranking the ninth best guard in the East and the player ranking the players his his contemporaries his peers voting is the second best guard in the East behind Kemba Walker. Yeah I mean I like it from that standpoint because I think the players the players got it right I mean I think he is. He should be held up in that regard but it is a little frustrating because you have did fan component and it's always been goofy. We had this baseball for years to Where you get these lineups and it's like an established thing but you know I mean we're talking about trae young so I wanNA blame a lot? What is the fact that the wizards aren't very good? But yet it's not like three young you know playing on you know The Atlanta Hawks. The Atlanta Hawks. I played on the box or the Celtics or something like that. So that's what's kind of a kind of a little bit about the how the whole thing breakdown broke down and you know it also speaks to the bigger problem I think for Bradley. Beal my maybe get a little antsy here in DC. Even though he said all the right things we had to blow up a few weeks ago the athletic report where it behind the scenes. He's not really happy with some of the things. And he made his comments about the culture. Not Approving up yet I think the clock starts ticking. A Guy's head's a little bit And they want it. They want to see improvement. But you know this is just like the wizards are so far off the radar when it comes to NBA basketball right right now. Because they've kind of decided upon on the season with John Wall out and you know I mean the Big East is so bad they're gonNA mathematically the ended. I think most of the year but when you watch them you know sometimes you see some stuff ago okay. That's pretty good and then other nights you're like what are they doing here. You know this is one of the worst defensive teams we ever seen You know they'll beat a team like Cleveland. The obvious that they can play tough with Miami but I think consistencies are are crazy. I think this is just a bigger symptom of the. You know kind of like where the wizards are right now the radar. which is they're not really on it? Yeah but you made the point and I. I think I made it earlier today. I think did on radio is that you know trae young. I knew trae young had a lot of sort of attention in coming in and had that incredible one season at Oklahoma and any an exciting player to watch. But they're horrible. I mean they are first rate. Great Terrible But I I still you know so the thing is just interesting and and this is one of the reasons since I wanted you on so the putting the all star stuff aside and putting the ranking by the players versus the fans and coaches aside. I think Bradley Beal's a really really really good player and I think he's a lot better this year and I think he's developed into a truly you know high level NBA score. But I don't think you win A title or even contend for one with Bradley. Beal as your number one. What do you think well they gotta get a lot better all around him and this is why I know a lot? People are like no matter how John Wall looks even though he's run at five on five at a local you know and then Miami with other MBA players or former MBA players. People are like you shouldn't play them at all this here or I kind of go the other way I think as soon as he is medically ready you go and let him. We gotta find out whether or not these two guys can still play together or how. It's GonNa look look any better than before. Was John Progressed. In terms of the rest of his game will complement Bradley. Better and vice. Versa I mean you've got to find that out but yeah I mean there's no way the way roster's constructed now that they're GonNa win a championship. I mean they've got pieces has never been a destination city for free agents as we know This isn't exactly on paper at least right now. Great Year to be the lottery team that wins. I don't know if it really brings you the Big Bang for your buck you know there's those Dianne Williamson this draft or even shop rant. So I I you know. This is the tough thing is for the wizards. And they're Kinda you know you know if they don't make it and they get a lottery to get lucky. I don't know really what that's going to bring it back but anyway I yeah I mean yeah he's not gonNA be your number. What Guy Most likely to win a championship? You got other pieces around him You know unless he suddenly become quite Leonard and you know everybody can play off hand but the way we've seen it constructed. Yeah Yeah I mean I think he help why. Why do you WANNA see wall? Now what do you WANNA learn. Do you WanNa learn something so that the off season plan after this season can you know starts rather than waiting until twenty twenty one where you've figured out what wall is yeah. Yeah defined it as soon as possible. What would you find out? They can't play you then. You're basically where you knew you were in the first place you know they. They know they're in a tough spot with his contract. There's no question about it You gotta find out you know maybe you build up an actual Situation where you can build up a market for it. But you're right. I mean there's always the fear that he doesn't play well then I guess you can cite got it all on you know and shut up. Shut down correctly and say all right. We'll wait till next year. But if he's out running in these in these games where there's no wizards Attendance in the the trainers nearby. I gotta think he's ready to play right. I mean you don't just say I'M GONNA go play at the local gym with a bunch of former players like he did the other day In the the team you know not have somebody standing by unless you're really ready to play basketball. So that's mypillow there if he's allowed to play away from the team and he three on three structure deals that he's ready. I mean you know. It's just a matter. Get his win back and all that stuff I you know. I hope that thinking. I've heard that he's worked on his game and we're going to be based on what we see. Whichever jumper all this other stuff but I get into you actually see the game? Who knows if that's all true or not always John Shoot the ball? Well what is in his career at times but it just never been consistent. Yeah I mean you're you're actually she bring up something that I really. I guess in part because for the first time in several years I'm not paying nearly as close attention to the team. Would I be right They're not Ativan. I mean wh where are we. Were there they win last night to go to fifteen and twenty nine to forty four games. So they're actually just over the halfway mark of the season season if he's playing five on five pickup and he's getting close to returning you know we're not in March. We've got all the rest of this month. We got all of February all of March and most of April. Why wouldn't you play him unless you unless you're really really concerned that he's never going to be what he is? And you might think I think that rather than Siham and try to deal them. Maybe it's better if people don't see and we try to get something for them but with that contract you're never going to be able to the deal. Yeah Yeah you're never gonNA be at the especially if you've never seen back on the court With that contract I mean they were hoping to get the medical exemption this year. They didn't get some of that cap space. The idea that he can get it out so I mean that's why I also feel like if he was ever going to be clear this year you might as well go ahead and get him out there because you're not getting any benefit from him not playing this year and it lasts again you you just feel. You're like well it's rap positioning. It's important to you but I don't know maybe I'm missing something here but it just doesn't seem like one of those stress where you know. There's there's a huge difference Being you know I don't know like four or five spots or whatever it ended up being lower. They're not the worst team obviously by far so I don't know if they're going to win win the lottery anyway but I again. I just think you gotta get those guys back together because whether we like it or not. That might still be where we are right. I mean that's still maybe the team down you know at least for the next few years. They'll Bradley he ever decides. You just completely had enough to get out or or they decide are. We're not going anywhere with it. We've got about Bradley and then we'll just try to figure out something John with this contract or do do you start. You know breaking into parts around John and it's got about that thing you know you know the the life of Gallup but I mean that's kind of where they are. I mean they're get tough. Spot never been never been a destination the city For free either that that's what I've got a nail in the draft and You know be creative and and make it a real big jab at you. GotTa theme hard to do I I you know. I think you're probably right in that you know first of all the NBA tends to be An older player League in terms of the teams that win And and you get guys in their late twenties early thirties. In theory Bradley Beal's just entering his prime at twenty six years old John Wall at Twenty eight twenty nine whatever what every is Depending on you know how he comes back from this injury especially given the way he plays Would still if he's completely healthy. He and he still has his speed and his athleticism is technically in his prime right now for at least another couple of years minimum. That would be probably your best way a to get back to where you were briefly. which is a team? That was a playoff kind of a team that could potentially win a series or to not contend for title legitimately intimately But you know play You know two three weeks in the postseason. Yeah gotTa build a guy around me. Hope you know really be the and who you thought. He was drafted. Unfortunately he's missed a lot of the season as troy. Brown junior thinks showed a lot of progress this year. Other Scott Brooks refuses to start him for some reason anyway Got All that going on You know and they've got some other young pieces. That are interesting Thomas. Brian Scott have been derailed with injury. And then you hit his weird John McCain disease. That's happened to that You know happens in the final year contract and who knows maybe can flip him into something. Maybe Isaiah as well forthright deadlines headlines and you know those guys really in the big picture. They don't fit what you're trying to do Down the road All right What what you watch a lot of college basketball? So Do I. And I'm into Maryland season right now. You're in too old dominion season. How are they doing? Didn't even know it. I pods a bit league. Are they in We're in conference. USA Kevin but he doesn't know about governor to say Not too good I did two games. They were actually playing. Yeah pretty well. I went down there to two games this year. An ad I swear to God daily one like two games. I did that so like they were kind of giving me a bunch of crap about it like I was a cooler. But they've had to transfer for is they've last night I think they lost one of their best players position. Although I don't think it's official yet So it's been horrible and I thought. Vcu as well but good although they've little bit a little bit underperforming performing to the preseason hype. But I think they'll be a tournament team eight. Tenths actually really good. Unlike Compusa real deep House Jeff Jones doing health wise is just doing good. You know just like going down there and talking to jeff because usually it's a lot of national talk He's very than add big time baseball. The buckeyes you know and He was also a p one nine eighty listener for many many years. Many years It's always good talking to jeopardize Albuquerque wanted five hundred the game career game this year He's I honestly the fact that they're even in these games and losing later or chance to win late as testament to the kind of exit goatee is because they just don't have the horses right now and this has been a rough year for them but I would be surprised if they had a chance to still win the conference that they win. The tournament is a one bid league every year saw. Yeah well I mean they. They were in it last year. You know he was in the tournament last year and I think they played perdue because that was basically the one gain Carson Edwards was is held below fifty in the tournament. I think he I don't remember what he had But you know it's a big weekend for the turps coming up. You know. Indiana last night beat Michigan State At home The big ten is I mean. Loaded top to bottom. I don't know if it's got a national champion. Although we know it is oh does. Does you know just when you think that Michigan State may not make a run there in the final four like they were last year And you know the the comeback against northwestern the other night it was actually big. I think it had to be big for turgeon. But this is like a in. Every night's big but Maryland add Indiana. That's the one place they haven't won since censoring the big ten big game for them. On Sunday I heard you say that the other day. That's that's amazing. But you know it's as you see this year very few road win around the com- around the country. Excuse me If you can get a few of them in the conference on the season obviously just hold serve at home. You know you're going to have a really good season but I I don't I lost a lot of different games and I and I start thinking I like certain team and then then I'm like I don't really like them anymore. It just nobody that you fall in love with this year and that's obviously why it's been so topsy turvy number one and and You know we haven't had that great team you know it's probably GonNa make for one of the more interesting You know March madness as we've seen in a while and it's probably why your office secretary will end up winning racket ball at your plan as well. Well they usually do anyway. I mean and even even with dominant teams. But yeah. I don't like I. I was thinking thinking Ohio state loss last night at home to Minnesota Ohio state a month and a half ago was the number two team in the country to in six in the big ten. You know Michigan went from being unranked to top five. They're two and five in the big ten. It's really hard to figure out you're right in. This is the time of year where you think in Zag is good. But you really don't know you know and you look at a couple of the non conference wins that Gonzaga had one of which was over North Carolina which looked good in the moment. It doesn't really doesn't look very good now by the way just as an aside I mean North Carolina's having an all time Matt Doherty style season For them they they've lost six straight. ACC Games first time ever. That's happened in program history. They're reeling right now. And I don't know I mean Cole. Anthony would've made a difference. Had he been healthy they stink. Yeah and you don't look at the other day and all the all Americans and McDonald's all American Finalist and all that stuff that was coming out and there were a lot of Carolina kids on their. Those kids are going to get the play right away this team and have a whole lot coming back though I mean. Yeah there's going to the opportunity for those guys like immediately next year. It's it's amazing. I think I think I saw there. All right Let's bring in a guest Erik. Zimny is the vice president of the racing and sports book For Not only the Hollywood casino in Charlestown but a lot of properties that are owned by the group And he's really good at at at helping us sort sort of figure out where the line is where it's going and we're a week away from you. Know a a lot of the activity and obviously now nine days away from the game. I wanted to start with this eric. We're you surprised when I started thinking about different. Super Bowl point spread possibilities before the championship games. Yes I actually really thought that the forty niners. We're going to be a favourite over anybody. How much did the Mahomes in the chiefs offensive firepower in those two playoff Off game sort of turn the tables on that. Yeah I think I think it I think it it factor big time especially with something like the National Championship if game in the in the rear view mirror where you had everyone analyzing the game and you know there's one team that's got You know the defense maybe actually one to one the fifty better personnel and the other teams got the dynamite quarterback three or four or five weapons. That are just kind of unstoppable and and you saw what happened after sixty minutes. Tehran You know I think it. It took a similar tone with this game. And we're kind of seeing the money. Play that out that way even further since we opened the game at one. Don't you think though college football is different in that you can be more times than not you get the offensive team trumping the defensive team whereas in the NFL over a long period of time defense more often than not can shut down great offense. We're just doesn't seem to happen as much in college. Let's put ball. It can just because you know the. There's there's a larger I guess disparity in terms of talent college teams. I mean you know you everybody on a pro roster's going to be a pretty good player And so yeah I would agree with that. I also do think in this day and age of football and kind of the way. It's played that I I don't WanNa say that's how it used to be but you know it just seems like we're going more and more than offensive world and if you look at the way the point totals reacted in this game. I it seems like the public thinks you know Along similar lines. I mean we opened it at fifty one and a half and across our network literally one hundred percent of the money was on the over little little one hundred percent and it was not an immaterial amount of money. And it's right now it's fifty four and we still have eighty five percent of the money on the over right now at that number so Yeah I could see it going a little bit further but you know how much further I I don't know fifty four. Seems like it's it's a pretty scary number for this game. Sounds like for a contrarian unlike me it sounds like an underplay in the super bowl. You know it's funny because I want to get into to to the the numbers in the Super Bowl next week in more detail here shortly. But I think I've told you in some of the Times that you've been on the radio show. I've been doing this segment for fourteen years that I call the smell test. Where basically basically it's just a contrarian handicap handicapping philosophy on Fridays? Each week I basically try to find the biggest public plays and just go just go opposite in that. There's a little bit more to it. But that's essentially been the theory and four fourteen coming into this year. They'd been thirteen years. You know I had had had ten solid seasons of you know fifty five fifty six between fifty five in sixty percent fifty five fifty nine percent winters and just three losing seasons. They were barely losing seasons. Eric I got crushed this year early in the season I was twenty six games above five hundred in like early October. Her and the rest of the year at least from my perspective really felt like a public year. Did it work out that way for you. Actually you did okay. This year So no I mean for us. It wasn't as public Of the year as it might have been otherwise I I think this game though is certainly going to be a public game and I go back. And I'm you know don't mean a harp on the You know the National Championship game. I mean I haven't seen a bigger public versus his square public versus sharp game. That not one. I mean we had so much public money on. LSU On on Lsu and the sharp skept Stephen the line back backdown clemson and and we got really bad game. That was one game. I would say that we got. We got hit hard on but not pros. Were good to us this year. A lot of it West rescue turned out to be a college and I was on. I was on Clemson for the limit In that game and then I'll probably be on the under it's funny about the. NFL playoffs the the three weekends. I mean you had in that wild card weekend you basically had I think four unders And then in the divisional round the first two games the Minnesota Soda Game in the Baltimore Game were under. We've had since then we've had four straight overs with you know a lot of public action as you mentioned on the over In the Super Bowl I it just seems like you can't make a line high enough what what else stood out from the first couple of weekends of of the NFL. Playoffs I mean to me. Casey's Z's explosiveness was just you know I can't imagine I don't know that there isn't a there's been another team in playoff history that's been down by twenty plus points and came back to win by twenty money or more points in the game. I mean. That's it's absurd when you see the swings and their games and they're never out of the game at all That really stood out to me but going back to at the other side of it. You know we're talking about passing being the kind of the wave of the future president in football and and teams turning in passing. Offense is I mean. Just look at what the Titans Titans did in the first three games I mean they won games with two games at least with the guy who was running the ball and really on stoppable. Rose I mean he was unbelievable and then you know go sign me the last time. A team won a conference championship game with a quarterback. Throwing the ball eight times. I mean not. That doesn't happen either. I mean they. They really blood in Green Bay with that running attack and I would imagine you're GonNa see a lot of that transfer over to next weekend tubes. I mean look I. It's it's trite it's Cliche but the best way you too to make sure mahomes doesn't scores to Keep him off the field and and not running attack for San Frans- dynamite. But kind of a resurgence of the running game and teams doing it. The old fashioned way a little bit that kind of That stood out to me the last few weeks so Kansas City's right now pretty much one across the board. I think there's some one and a half out there you can tell me whether whether there are Fifty four you mentioned the totals up from from the open I would imagine at this point. Given you know the the impression that that mahomes in that Kansas City offense gave to everybody watching for the first two games that there's at least a public lean if not a heavy public Play on on Kansas City laying the point. Yeah you know. I haven't gone down today so I don't know if we're still at one and a half but we've been at one and a half for a little bit Be Still taking can seventy seventy one percent of the action at one and a half still on Kansas City so The public is is certainly leaning that way with the number. It's ironic right right now. I mean our biggest play here at Charlestown or or anywhere in the network we took a hundred and eighty six thousand bucks on the niners on the money. Line Plus One oh seven And that's the largest player we've gotten at all So as I as I look at it now. The money's is due to the niners as far as winning the game outright. That's going to change my game. I'm sure We we may be a weird situation though or a A Casey one point win is like the bonanza for us to read because of that money line play. Yeah Exactly Act. And then we'll we'll we'll beat the public on the one and a half which is our number right now win the money line place so It just doesn't get the feeling like this is going to be a one point game though. It doesn't no it doesn't doesn't where do you think the number do you think that number stays put. I mean with seventy percent of of the tickets coming in on Kansas City. Even if your your money volume is is a little bit Closer to even these. Do you see moving. The number it all DC the number moving anywhere and if so what which direction is one and a half have to versus to a huge difference. Probably not I to me. One and a half is probably where it's GONNA settle Not stunned if you see some late. Sharp niners money to be honest. Just because and that's just anecdotally from what I've heard you know some folks. I respect certainly That seems to be the side they they lean to in this game. I can see that I go north of one and a half. I would doubt it How how do you think the total goes? Do you think goes higher from fifty four. I told someone like it's like during those like Patriots. Dolphins Games last year. Like I don't like you can't sit the line at likes thirty. You know even though you you reasonably know that one team is demonstrably better than than another. So I mean how high can you really with the total in this game Knowing that one team has the potential to throw the ball you know fifteen times most the game. I don't know it's going to go much higher. May you see a creep up a point or two. Maybe I don't think you're gonNA get something like fifty seven. Though I mean I think that anywhere fifty four fifty five five maybe fifty six I. I'm I'm shocked if it goes higher than that. You know. I'm I'm trying to think I know the total for that New England Atlanta's super bowl three years ago. Now was I think approach fifty nine. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think that was the highest total we've ever had. I don't think we've ever seen a sixty for super bowl but we've been higher than fifty four Before I know that game was and you might remind me of another game. Hell last year's game was certainly a mid fifties total game that ended it up. You know ridiculously thirteen three. Nobody had that I it was. I believe that Patriots Falcons game was the highest total ever. And I don't I don't think it went over until overtime I'm actually put over Yeah last year was in the Mid Fifty S. We all saw what happened. There and last year was kind of an anomaly. That was one of the Uglier Games you'll ever see but yeah we have seen higher than fifty four. I you know with the way the niners put pressure on the QB played defensive. Run the ball. I mean it just feels like they're gonna I'll have to try and shorten the game the winners and I fifty four to me like I said I I feel like that's a pretty good number It might float up but I don't know you know what's interesting about that Tennessee. Kansas City game is that Tennessee's first half was textbook right they. They possess the ball two to one advantage manage. They had occurred in nineteen and a half minutes ten and a half they ran the ball. They scored on every possession but one and they're down twenty one seventeen at halftime. which she's really you know You mentioned it and I think a lot of of the of the General Football fan population you know and I know we get caught up in this you. You know wanting to think that we're watching something totally unique sort of the the the recency thing but seriously when it comes to mahomes. I don't know that we've ever seen anything thing like what he did for two consecutive weeks. Look in that first half of that. AFC Championship game. The titans I felt like could not have played their foot and they were down four points at half time I agree with you. I mean his performance last two weeks is unbelievable and you know after he got hurt this season in and he looked like a different quarterback for a few weeks I feel like now that he's Kinda rounding back into some semblance of health. I don't know what he's fully healthy at this time of the year anyway but He looks like he's using his legs and his feet a lot more. That's what I think the niners in this game I mean I know their pass rushes good but I feel like they gotta try to keep this guy in the pocket to some degree. Because that's what he's at his best ass when he's flushed out on the run improvising You know throwing his no look passes across the field that you know you. Just don't see anyone else do And I I am sure. The niners defensive staff had a lot of sleepless nights watching tape of the last two weeks. And it'll be interesting to see what kind of tack they employed under defend. Not only him. I'm by got Kelsey and Hill and hardman and offences loaded yet. I mean I talked a lot about it on the podcast and radio. Show this week I. I don't know that we've ever seen a better extend the play offs schedule quarterback. I mean we've seen so many good ones in recent years Wilson. Obviously Rogers Lamar Jackson Axon but never a guy that extends it for as long as he does and then with a flick of the risk throat sixty sixty five yards accurately He's really really interesting. And I think this whole elite quarterback versus great defense. Thing is is fascinating. It's always been in the. NFL was telling somebody the other day. I think we did it on the PODCAST. Aaron I we the Dan Marino in nineteen eighty-four shattered every passing record imaginable adjustable. And and not that that the two styles of play mahomes in Marino or close. They're not at all but the way we thought about Dan Marino in eighty four in the numbers that he put up is a similar way in which a lot of people are thinking about mahomes and Marino went to that super bowl that year and got completely shut down by a very good forty niner defense in that in that super bowl super bowl eighteen. I think it was nineteen And I don't know but it's hard to envision after watching Mahomes the last two weeks anybody completely shutting down yeah and another time not completely shutting down. I mean that niners team had a good day back down I mean they also add the advantage of having. Yeah Yeah and so you're GONNA get into position here. Do you think the niners could possibly outscore them if they had to I and maybe they can. I mean Garoppolo I only through the ball eight times but look he's been steady Nama homes but he. He's not an issue back there he's not liability by any means but I mean when they traded for sanders sender's The offense got a little more dynamic. We actually have a couple of futures on on deebo Samuel on to an MVP game. I mean he's a rookie. He's been find Auden they're going to have to score points so you're right. I see this being a giant super bowl where the niners are able to hold the ball over forty one minutes in nineteen points. Yeah I mean the Otis Anderson in that game in that that offense was was really incredible and lots of times. You just need what you know. Essentially what Houston got early in that game which is a couple of dropped balls a couple of deflected balls you know in a couple of breaks to to just get them off the field. It's almost like you have to get a break to get that Kansas City team off the field. We're talking to exhibit. Eric is the vice president of Racing Sports Book Book for Hollywood Hollywood Casino in Charleston. All of The sports books in Casinos Embrace books That they own He did anybody decided. Curiosity did is there any sort of big decision on somebody playing an AFC NFC super bowl point spread a month ago. That has a huge aged vantage here. no no huge advantage. I on that I can tell you though there is a a. We have a pretty large network wide liability on the chiefs winning winning the Super Bowl In one of our properties and council Las Iowa that's Kinda chiefs country and they're all cheese fans there line at that point God I I mean the thing. Is it varied so much throughout the year because after mahomes got hurt they might have been twelve because I mean located kneecap and they were. They were taking on water there. I WANNA say eight to one was what a lot of the action is that And that was from a little bit earlier in the year two but I mean a lot of recreational final money. A lot of that's recreation put. You got a big play in council bluffs. That's hysterical. What what was San Francisco to start the year? I've I've no idea what they were. God I don't off the top of my head I mean if I had to guess would you put them in the US four thousand range. Yeah right I mean they would have I would think We don't have as you can imagine since they were plus four thousand. We don't have a lot of liability on them at all so Yeah there's nothing they're that's GONNA stand out. I don't talk about prompts props go ahead yeah no one interesting we had someone come in. I believe it was a nine hundred dollar bed on Shawn McCoy McCoy to score at least two touchdowns on Sunday At odds of eighty to one so I don't know if this person just doesn't like money or or what the He what Akkad last week or they. I don't think he was active. Oh you're saying for the you're saying for the championship game. Not The super bowl. Somebody came in and put that much on Leshan Makuwata scored where two touchdowns look out for the Super Bowl for the super bowl knowing that I believe in active for the last call right okay so it was for the Super Bowl Year. Will maybe this person knows that he's going to be active. I don't know it's not like they needed him no they don't they don't Williams pretty good. I mean they're pretty good. I I they score points It flows Shawn McCoy. lesean McCoy scoring two touchdowns I I would think the niners are in for an incredibly long day What's the most interesting prop bet on the aboard? I mean it could give me a couple that you think are going to really interests betters. You know it sounds again. It's the coin. Toss just has intrigued. Because of it's the coin toss and it's quick action and it's you know you're you're betting on somebody flipping a queen and it's it's You know I would have to spend across the network. We'll probably probably get five digit amount on just people that the coin toss recreational. It's it's Kinda Fun and then people gravitate towards it. That's crazy I would think a lot out of the mahomes numbers are going to be Heavily bad the over under an yardage touchdowns you know it's Cetera But anyway You know I I did want to ask you. So I'm I'm a big college basketball Better Erin I sit here and we just we. We look at the numbers every day Is College basketball heavily. We bet before March or not it is and as you can imagine with college basketball. The thing that makes it trickier there's so many options and An looked I mean. It's it's hard to sharpen lines on. You Know Dartmouth Plan Brown on Friday night and You know people who specialize specialize in those markets. So I do take money. It's really a lot of take a Lotta sharp putting in college basketball during the season Just because of that come March. We'll have more people in the book I around the tournament than we will on Sup. They next weekend. Yeah I mean that first weekend of the NCAA tournament being in a sportsbook. Let's put in Vegas was always quite the weekend for a lot of friends of mine and myself For many years in and I know you're you're sportsbook Hollywood casinos. If for those listening that haven't been up there. It is a great sports book. Great Place to watch Super Bowl great place to go up there to watch you know college hoops in the NBA. Over the the weekends you know in in in March in January February and certainly In March is well. You know it's interesting that you said that about college basketball that you know there are a lot of sharps sharps. I I think it's one of those things you see in college. hoops that that homecourt advantage and these conference games really. You Know How many times you get an unranked team. I'm at home getting a really short number against a ranked team you know coming in and the public gist is all over the ranked team. You know laying a short number. Think that thinking gene at Vegas is somehow aired in the point spread you know. Yeah exactly. It's true and I and I mean there's a lot of guys out there now on some pretty good systems and models for for for Obscure College Basketball Games and I mean when you don't get a volume of action on Games. I mean you know from these. You know the big South Conference or whatever is pick one randomly. I mean you. Don't get a large volume of action on those games. It's hard to know customer tendencies and when you when you finally kind of figured out. That's after someone's come in and and thrown a You know Nope twenty-five thousand playing over in the in the winthrop game I like looking at the walls. Like what the heck just happened What Oh you do when that happens when somebody comes in? Let's say tomorrow okay. And they've got the over in the you know In the in the winthrop winthrop Radford Game Gardner Webb Game. What do you do you? Do you have a limit on those games. It depends on the profile of the game. There's not really ah explicitly stated limit Frankly we usually take the money and we've done that and and our whole last year was still Nine percent despite US I was getting taken for all that money on the world series so the approaches were pretty. Well I mean we. Have you know good competence in our numbers. But I'm not saying there isn't a situation where we would limit a game based on just the overall profile of it but it's going to be a more obscure game versus a highly liquid market rocket. UNC Duke Game there is that built-in advantage called the vague which puts you in position to sure? Just take it ultimately. It'll work out but it is funny about college basketball and I can't tell you how many nights you know in in mid-january I've been sitting there and all the sudden there's like you know Tau Sin Against William and Mary and William and Mary's got undefeated in League play a and they're only laying on the road against like one of the worst teams in the contrarian in me has always said good God. I'm on Talisman for the limit and sometimes is it works. Sometimes it doesn't it. It's called gambling for a reason. There's no truth theory or system that really works consistently wouldn't that be your advice to anybody. That's trying to to delve into the world of gambling. For the first time I think the percentage of players who are truly sharp and over the long haul or winning players this is incredibly incredibly minute You can go on runs but you know people tend to regress to the mean and You know I'm not saying there aren't got our guys in our players who went over the along certainly are but Yeah there's no one-size-fits-all infallible system now. If any way if you if you've got one or knows someone who's Alan please let me know I will play it right away. I always enjoy talking to you. Thank you so much Erica appreciate it. We'll talk soon absolutely Kevin. Thanks for having me. I like Eric a lot. Good guest Really good information Big Sports Fan. Obviously and that's big responsibility when you're running a lot of different sports books but you know what Aaron. It's better to be on his side than on the side were on yes his side pretty much. Guaranteed lock to win I do think it's funny. You know that one of his biggest exposures right now is from their sportsbook in council. Bluffs Iowa Real quickly before we run for the day Big Games Sunday for Maryland At Indian I loved it. Indiana won that game last night Erin. And they've got sort of short turnaround before the game on Sunday. Marilyn's got all the rest Maryland. Never gone into Indiana and one. They've never been in Bloomington as a big ten member they one is an ACC member at Indiana at Assembly Hall of that. That's only two or three trips. I think for whatever reason they haven't visited any and all that off is it only two or three well. They've only this is only your five right in the league. Twenty fifteen sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen. Yeah right they're for. It was fourteen fifty. You're not in the big ten It's a big weekend for college basketball. I'm not going to watch the problem. Not even going to talk about the pro bowl but in the big ten alone tonight. Wisconsin at Purdue Tomorrow Illinois at Michigan and then Sunday Sunday Maryland and Indiana and Michigan State at Minnesota. And how about this. Ohio state was the number two team in the country a month and a half ago and right now they are reeling I mean they have lost six of their last seven games. They're not ranked anymore They have northwestern this this weekend on the road that is When I saw them in December Destroy Villanova November December Than Destroy Carolina? We we know what Carolina was. They destroyed Penn State. A Good Penn state team. I thought. Wow this team is so good defensively. They got a chance to win the whole thing and they're now twelve and seven seven to win six in Lee play Really Strange Year in college basketball for sure but That's a big weekend for college hoops this week. Getting a big win for Maryland on Sunday at one That's it right. I'm not forgetting anything. I mean what are we going to say about Antonio Brown and got arrested Y- it I mean we could. We told you in August As all of you knew That the dude was troubled and needed. Help apparently his ex-wife wife says he's not going to see his kids until he gets mental therapy and help. And it's the same thing that Rosenhaus said about him Editors run by the way. Just you signed a six year extension through twenty twenty six to stay as Lsu's a head coach That was obvious Remember when he got the GIG Out Every fan was happy about that. now's a national champion. They don't want him to leave. All right Thanks Scott Jackson Thanks to Eric Zimny the VP V._p.. Of Racing Sports Book at Charleston. Hollywood casino thanks to Erin. Thanks to all of you have a great weekend back on Monday.
