Talent is More Important Than Resources
"Probably remember when everything changed in Hollywood, and it was right around. It was in the seventies right around the time of Bonnie and, CLYDE, which was the Warren Beatty movie that really was the first of a new generation of filmmakers, filmed primarily out in the field because prior to that the cameras used to make movies were so big. You couldn't go outside you had to do it in a sound stage, and so- location, photography that was pretty special. But in nineteen sixty. Seven Bonnie and CLYDE shot entirely on location. For the first time with cameras that were small enough for somebody to, to take outside, there were still bigger than they are today, but they were for the first time, it, changed filmmaking it changed filmmaking and the movies we saw starting with that movie in the sixties and the seventies in the eighties were so different from the movies we saw in the fifties and sixties. Well, that's what we're going through. Now, forget, you know sixteen millimeter camera, you could put on your shoulder at you can do it with a phone in your pocket. And I think as far as I'm concerned all that, all that really means is the scope for creativity is, is unlimited, and you'll have filmmakers, who can't afford an Alexa, but they can afford a phone making amazing things that the thing that doesn't change. Scott is the talent that you bring to the game as a as a professional editor or professional screenwriter actor director. It just means talent is more important. You don't have to have sixty million dollars to make a feature film you, but if you have the talent you can do some amazing things. And I think that's, that's what's so exciting about the internet era. And, and there's negative, we talk all the time at the negative of YouTube. And Ariffin effect. Youtube is hard on the psyche of a whole generation, but at the same time, it also enabled creators with virtually no money to have a voice, and I think that that's very exciting. Especially if you've got town, especially

"Yeah. Looking forward to the top of the hour. Mike lombardi. His his book is entitled gridiron genius. But he has been around work with Walsh work with Mr. Davis raiders he worked with the Cleveland Browns. Larry ever heard of a defensive tackle from Auburn back in the day. Harold hallman? No. All right. Well, here's a line. What what are we talking? Well, we're talking when he was working with Walsh. When wash was scouting, I'm giving we're talking about maybe the early eighties. I'm skimming non going back. But anyway, I bring this up just for the line of party. There was a reporter on Harold Hallman defensive tackle from Auburn. The report stated he could get more penetration than Warren Beatty at a sorority party. Thank you after a long exhausting historic days a family show. Yeah. Almond made him the final pick of the draft. So so. Walsh made home in the final pick of the forty Niner draft heaven can wait was on HBO the other day, see heaven can wait sure. Show with them. The Rams, right? Yeah. With with Warren Beatty, by the way, STAN Kroenke, the guy who owns the Rams, I didn't realize this. He invested one point six billion dollars of his own money in this new stadium that they've got coming. That's scheduled to open in twenty twenty. And so he's all in on doing whatever he's gotta do to get to the Super Bowl before that stadium. Julius momentum became a genius now married. One of the daughters of WalMart, the WalMart owner there you go. Yeah. So all of a sudden cranky visionary. But he's a talented. He's talented when it comes to merit. Yeah. I wanna double check that. But he married somebody gets WalMart that one point six billion of his own wife's money. Double check that way. Where STAN Kroenke, he married. I believe WalMart. Yeah. Something tells me STAN Kroenke, even if he STAN Kroenke probably had a few ducats before that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Would you ever make super rich people tend to remarry other super rich people? Tell me cranky didn't have a penny. And then he married into the idea is that you cranky was pretty doing pretty he was rolling pretty fat. I think probably before that whenever you hear that. Is there any amount of money? Where did you? Go ahead. Mike. What was it? It is WalMart. Okay. Is there is there any amount of money for anybody listening that you could lay next to somebody? You couldn't stand would you would you marry for money? Never married for money too long. You know, maybe if I knew I was going to get hit by a Boston like seven or eight years. It was going to be a real short short deal. Maybe but life's too long to marry somebody that you just can't stand exactly and just lay there, and I got a buddy who's married to a to a woman who's just a nightmare and his life. Like, he's like lives in fear of this woman. But she's got enough money that he stays and this goes on the other way too. Could you for for women for men aid either either side, but your buddy, you know, would prefer somebody else, but she's got too much money. So he just puts grins and bears. It it's a living. Hell I don't know if it's a living. Hell he's he's compartmentalized compartmentalized his emotions. Because you don't even know what we've got. So that's another thing, Brian if you can investigate did cranky have money before he laid down next to money. All right. Well, thank up Bharti's coming up in a few minutes on these sports later. Gary and Larry on KNB are six eighty the sports. Hang on a sec all day, and my son would like turn he seems to be young for this twin cylinder hog doesn't. He it's a coin operated. Kitty bike. I'm your from Detroit. Lord knows Detroit is at the height of all things. Motown is they're literally anybody who would get this crowd. Is there anybody else who would get this crowd a last time that we had something like this, but not obviously on this level was when the Leah died. And I remember they had a horse, a horse drawn carriage with her casket in it that went through the streets of Detroit. That was all white. That was the last even a lead did this. And I'll Lee, this Ali wasn't even. I can't think I'm not sure what would learn our city. There would not be. I can't think of a single native detroiter that would get this kind of national and international sort of response that have you form this game? Do you feel comfortable playing this game right now? Because Bill Clinton, if before we turn our telephone. On that would have been a great one Bill Clinton, which vunerable is the ad is McCain or Aretha Frank. A wreath Omarosa would have been incredible, but we know those. So we'll we're going to do is you have to guess either Retha 's funeral McCain's funeral or neither. Real controversial. Here we go. Number one. Warren beatty. What are yours. We just got a face on the lead with Whoopi should should've led with Whoopi. I guess McCain. Just McCain too, but you love with Warren Beatty. So. With your decision? Let with Warren Beatty instead of Warren Beatty. I'm gonna guess McCain or. No. I'm guessing neither. Neither. I'm going to guess McCain. I'm gonna guess Aretha McKay. Warren Beatty. Why would he to read the front. Obviously in Michigan Senator Carl Levin, former Michigan Senator Carl Levin Aretha gotta be read it, is it going to be? I'm gonna go McCain while they're Michigan Senator Sugano. I'm going to say, McCain, McCain. The core shamed of yourself. Big Sean l. a. rethink. We're neither. To say, I'm gonna go McCain. Casey. Big Sean. I'm gonna go Retha here. Aretha. Detroit. All right. A little tricky because it's is Thomas, but I'm not gonna tell you which is Ahah Thomas. Oh, wow. Thomas? No. What if it's a one that's been part of his career in Phoenix? AC. Thomas? Yep, Celtic. Thomas of the pistons is at a wreath. Yes. I'm gonna say McCain's. Larry FitzGerald allow Larry FitzGerald Pittsburgh, is he from Detroit? Nobody is good relationship with McCain's. I'm gonna go McCain, Arizona. Okay. Yeah, that's a. That's just there is an option folks go neither Larry's getting ready for the regular season, neither. Oh, Arizona. All right. Look at that right former Phoenix coyotes Shane, dawn. Team. Either neither. I feel comfortable with either. I'm gonna go McCain. I'm gonna go neither McCain. Oh, Charles Barkley. Oh, this is that is a good. That's a really good Charles born about this. Ben Affleck Had Been 'Drinking Alone for Days' Before Heading Back to Rehab
"This. Morning let's talk about Ben Affleck Ben Affleck according to people magazine had been drinking alone for days before heading back to rehab that he was on a downward. Spiral he was in bad. Shape he wasn't. Eating he hadn't showered and it didn't take much convincing to get him to go to. Rehab he wanted to go and he. Cooperated so that's the latest story for. People I, mean we kind of knew that he didn't put up a, fight but that was what was happening leading up to the days of. Him I just heard a story to that Warner Brothers is considering removing him or he's considering removing himself from the role of Batman because of insurance that the. Insurance on him playing that. Role would be. So high now because of his addiction struggles I mean that's been that project has been. So plagued right with him they should. Probably move on I I liked him. I didn't, dislike him as much as some people did as Batman but, maybe move on and re let that franchise settle for a little bit Well yeah I mean but let it settle or do what they, did with Spiderman they relaunched it so successfully with Tom Holland that you know Because, remember they had a blip with Andrew Garfield with Spiderman nobody liked those two movies you'll let it you let it simmer for, a couple years and then you do you do a great casting job like they did with, Tom Holland and look now when people think Spiderman. They no longer think at. Tobey Maguire which I used to they now, think of Tom Holland, they have to. Do the same, thing

"There are only a handful of Warren Beatty films that I go back to. This is one of them and McCabe and MRs Miller is another one. So if you want a good one to go to next, I would say go to that one is the one that inspired so low according to Nashville. I have no idea. I'm just letting you know that in articles written about MC McCabe and MRs Miller, they claimed that it spiraled not only Star Wars but so low. So I really don't know how that happened while it's called grasping at straws when you have no other way create contents. No, I never seen a Warren Beatty phone before. I've never seen Bonnie. CLYDE. I've never seen Bulworth is had a movie that people like you probably shouldn't brag about net seeing Bonnie CLYDE. I'm also never seen the karate kid, so you're gonna miss much. I haven't seen the karate kid since I was a kid and I don't really. I don't get it. I know people love it. I know evidently Cobra KYW's like a lot better than everybody thought it was going to be, but I just I don't know. What did never did never get me, but I am curious. We're talking about having never seen movies that people are supposed to have seen. I, I mean, I guess like for me, things with Warren bonding CLYDE has movie. I should have seen like when when you guys talk to people are there's, is there a movie that you're like a shaved that you've never seen? Because like Mike's never seen Star Wars, so, but I have seen McCain of MRs Miller, which is the same thing guarding designed. Phil zip Rynski point is one that I was jumps to mind. Really. I say I've only seen one in Tony film and have never cared to go back, but I hear that I'm missing out. I've never seen Lawrence of Arabia, and that is one that I'm kind of like holding out for because I wanna see on a big screen and Cleopatra for the same reason. They're both just like their epic movies that I want. You know, film that he wide screen. I wanna see that vast nece on a huge screen. Yes. I feel like that's a legitimate reason what I what I've had this conversation people to like you've never seen XYZ movie like, I don't know. I just never got excited about seeing karate kid like I know all the I know all the pizza that, like I know this week delay, Johnny and all that. It's like, why do I need to watch it? I know all the beats. It's part of the pop culture kind of guys early. It was for the eighties in the eighties or cool again. So back to the fact that I never seen buying CLYDE, I'd more inclined to watch it now because I really liked were beady in this movie. Oh, could I've always had issues with that scene where we kind of rejoined the narrative and it's freaky going through the house in saying that he lost his parrot because it's just like, I'm not really sure what's going on. Even after reading all those screenplays in the book and all that kind of stuff. I still don't know what the hell's going on is he leading the police to somebody's house so that they can arrest the people. Now's, it just seems. The normal everyday people. So I've never been able to understand the scene though the way that Beatty goes through the house and he stands outside and we're seeing him through the windows. I mean, we're gonna get this framing of him outside a lot or characters outside because we're going to get that same thing with Paula Prentiss and he's going to mention her saying that she lost her cat. So I guess he loses his parrot. She loses her cat, but that whole weird like we're standing outside looking in kind of thing. It's a great metaphor, but I have no freaking idea why the cops are following him and all this kind of senators is big argument that happens. Did you guys follow any of that stuff? I didn't. And I'm glad you said that because I felt like I felt like right after that will sequences over. Did I miss something? Is their portion of movie that I like fall asleep for him. It just felt like nothing really connected there. It was just kinda like a little weird filler..

"Yeah yeah it so much i love that he knows is the books today is that you've got me started writing and in this so does red tech has there certainly columns from vva lot of james you know i still it's it's it's i'm going to those writers uh but yeah it's it's um um you know having a now the name what limited in that world how they would have to operate to exist in it uh need everything sort of have this weird contortion to it you know uh either there what what would like what room is there for women like glory adapt and who's soda and who's based on a real person um virginia hill who i ask you saw the warren beatty dogs he movie next to then be asked the are now banning she plays virginia hell but at the lynn reallife virginia how she was a attaches for the mob and she really you know she's really operated in that world and and was none trusted her um and so a so that was really fascinating to me but what you would have to do the your style to operate in that world as a woman a man is high not but as a woman that that just need everything feels very heightened which give me permission i think to heighten the language and the heightened it's either nicky boje more and more stylized in some ways it felt like five of the books also but also so much by movies you know on that that would move as fast the movie did everything you know and i and the tight end you like that you notice the score says he kind of cuts cuts cuts cut you know that kind of thing so i think that had an influence on the style well speaking of books.
