"They built up such a great story for monica and really didn't deliver on it in the end. They used her as a human shield which is just fucked up on so many levels for like magical children who get undone by magic moments later so that part was like well. No but i did. I loved eating to see wiccan and speed like it was so cute to see them as like little babies they were door -able and i did really like like you said the dynamics between vision and wanda felt very real an intruder relationships and also true to what i've read of them in the comic. Save nowhere near the sort of background you do. But it's a valiant effort within a huge machine. that has a very clear agenda. That's probably the best way to summit so switching to the second half of k's question. Thank you so much k. Sarah what are some of the comics that you would love to see adaptive well. I don't have specifics. But i do have one that i would love. Love love to see more of and that is weird. Superman superman sometimes has really weird stories. That are so you would never see them anywhere. I love that. And i think that every single time we see a superman movie. It's always tries to be so epic and is like has to be so epic because that's what everybody wants to see. Apparently but i think it'd be real cool just to start seeing some of those like weird outlandish. Here's me and outer space. I'm in like Intergalactic wrestling ring. And now i'm doing this like other thing. And the issue to issue comics. I think with superman is a lot of what i love about that character and so seeing him take on like more existential threats or like threats that are more 'cause in nature and not necessarily always have to have big bad lex luther dark salad or like you know anything like that. I think that it would just be fun. Because a huge of superman's history is him taking on these completely ridiculous threats that are just sifi bonkers. Totally zany awesomeness. I love that. I think that's such a good idea to really let us see other sides of this character. Who i mean. I don't even know when the first superman film was made but like forever been having sprint stories forever. And there's a reason. And i used to be a bit of a naysayer Superman as we've discussed. But i really. I've been reading a lot. More about what marginalized people think and why they love him. Every listened to you. Talk about why you love superman and i think that that's exactly what could be cool is to see this truly good person who's trying to do good face just the weirdest threats that would be so adorable i would. I would love to see that. Yeah i think it's more of a series or like a t. Because i can't serialized pretty well or do you think it's more like i really would take basically anything i. I would take that as a comment because i love it. I mean i liked a lot of grant morrison's writing so they did a bunch of superman that was very much like A kind of zany strange stuff and brought back a lot of those old concepts like the same as they did with batman..

"Like make its way into this story because in the beginning we have a character who is jewish ramani and she lives in poverty and struggles to stay alive with her brother like both of them lived through serious hunger and poverty and their childhood but in the show. It's kind of more leg older from this fictional country and oaths accidentally. We killed people in their country. And like you know. Oh the bomb was gonna go off. But it didn't and all of that and it's like then the way that they go into activism is viewed as being this kind of negative thing. And i think that all of those things it doesn't hold true to the comics but it also doesn't really hold true to the character and i think that it allows for a lot of things because it's removing her from a lot of the things that tied her to these huge atrocities throughout history is like a lot of things with her and her jewish romani heritage. I think makes a lot of sense for the character and kind of taking that away from her and takes a lot away from any fans have those identities but it also takes a lot away from her character because there's kind of like a inherent message against war in her comic book origin. Where is in the movies. I think that it gets really blurred. I think you hit on so many things that were also my thoughts about wanda vision. And the the shifts in the casting characterization flawed country of origin ethnic background etcetera of of wanda and i read a really beautiful article came out at the end of february. But it's on mike dot com and it was a romani witch talking about why she dislikes juan division. And it just raised a lot of really important points about exactly what you're describing sarah and so i'll share that in the show notes. I think there's just the representation of reminding people in pop culture is just awful. Let's be real just terrible and fill stereotypes and used to justify a lot of terrible treatment. Remind people have been and continue to be treated like shit in the entire world. And i'm more familiar with treatment in europe. Not good not good stuff. So i think that there's just a lot of layers here. And i thought that article really encapsulated the particularity of that representation particularly because you know they go for that halloween episode and division that is playful and we all love it. Because it's the play on their costumes that they wore in the comics. And that was actually really harmful. I think to a lot of romani people to see the caricature of their culture in the form of wanda in costume. And i think it's partially the weird stuff she says and does so. Yeah i think that i. I enjoyed a lot of one division. I think that it was pretty cool the way that they took us into the show. I thought it was know bold to drop us into these different highly stylized. Tv shows from various decades. I liked wanda was. It seemed pretty much leading up until the last episode or to really grappling with some trauma and there was a way that it showed the way that intense trauma distorts your reality and makes you see things differently. Makes you understand things differently than if you were a super powered individual. How might that ripple out. I don't know. I feel about a loved. Agatha but like agatha up in the clouds you are the scarlet wedge. I don't know those. Those line thing..

"Love to see adapted into film or tv. Mvp which ones you feel like should be untouchable for instance. You hear there's going to be a and you and it will make you feel like burning something down or just mildly. Put you out Range like that range of emotion Yeah is that just emotion. I regularly experience so just like that's fine. I hate this though. Oh my god so. We talked a little bit about wanda vision on episode. Seventy six with stephanie williams. We were really focused on monica rambo and how at the time at least her representation was really exciting and fresh. We think we're only halfway through this season coming out at that point it now. We have the full picture for this conversation. And i have some thoughts but sarah. You're a big time wander reader. you love her. I would love to hear your general thoughts or even specific avila about how wanda's representation in the mc you and then specifically in juan division meets or doesn't meet your hopes and expectations based on her comics representation. Sure yeah. there's some of it that i think works so well and of course many things that i have criticisms about so the biggest things that i think work would be the fact that she takes everything on herself. You know like there's all of these parts of the series but the movie is as well aware you somebody who really can't trust other people to do literally anything right. It's all on her and the way that she takes on her own shoulders the way that she kind of greaves alone like the way that you know it takes the vision being very kind person to kind of get through that show. I think those are all things that make a lot of sense. Because wanda is nothing else is not the eternal outsider. She's always somebody who feels a little bit alienated. Truly no matter where she's at. There's always a little bit of that. Because i mean everybody goes through stuff and superhero comics but nobody can specifically relate to her. I think i would find it to be really difficult. Maybe gene but they never talked to each other. Or i was gonna say they never talked to other women ever. But i'm like okay. That's not fair. They do sometimes but they really don't enough. You would love to see those folks all hash it out but yeah i would say that the things that i like are that they understand how powerful she is they understand. What kind of idiosyncratic person she is and how she struggles for identity because she has been told she is somebody else again and again throughout her life. I think the biggest problem with a lot of that is is that there isn't a lot of context for it in the tv series in the comic. She's also no longer magni. Does daughter for now. I'm sure that that's going to change at some point. Because i think that they just make more sense as relatives. I think her. And magneto and lorna all have of similar temperaments. But i think that a lot of the changes that they made were around what her heritage is and i think that that makes it be a different story a lot. Of the times it allows for a lot of conservatism to.

The Inspiration Behind Joygage: The Streaming Service for Dementia Patients

"I'm excited to bring to you today. A service that we've all desperately needed. In the past year i'm going be talking to craig fowler about the streaming service joy gauge since the combination of the word joy and engage him. Assuming so help me. Welcome craig to the show. Thanks so much craig for being here today. Thanks for having me jennifer. So i always not always but for a long time. Especially during this whole cova craziness that we've all lived through really felt that a streaming service was something that we needed for entertainment education and anything else related to older adults and caregiving. And obviously you had that idea because you made it happen. So do you wanna tell us your background or sure. Good place to start on how you how you came to. This is probably not something that people just generally think unless they've been caregivers I'll i'll start with the story of my of my mother. My mother wanda absolutely wonderful person. She was She ended up being diagnosed in the mid. Two thousand with early onset dementia likely a vascular. They weren't really sure the time But she had had a number of symptoms and actually retired early early sixties. Before you we could tell my father night could tell that there were some things wrong. But i think like many people we sort of avoided the issue until she had a series of. Tia's which released through for a loop and when we took her into the for that they Diagnosed her as having dementia and she lived at home with my father for around ten years after that and The very end of her life just really the last six months wing to memory care unit To a couple of different ones but in ten years that my father cared for her. I was living in an eight hour. Drive away so. I would fly in all the time we try to help him but i kept finding as she got further into dementia that the biggest daily struggle that he had in the she had was really just staying engaged in staying active so many of the things that my mother wanted us to do Before dementia in her early stages dementia just weren't really accessible to her and she was very involved in church over the volunteering. Opportunities became intimidating to her. She used to love movies tv. That certain things that a number of things used to enjoy became confusing to her and she had a hard time keeping up with botts. She liked to do certain types of games early on that Word search games but over at some point in time those who came to challenging for her and frustrating for her so The the the thought of joy gauge was to was. Hey we know that there are actually quite a few things in the world available that will fit people of different cognitive abilities. People with different levels of short term memory but there are scattered around and not really usually very accessible so are thought with joy. Gauges what if we could curate and bring together All of those options and can use technology modern technology to customize those bring into individual People so that they actually have the ability using the streaming service to access a specific types of entertainment engaging activities actually fit them where they are without frustrating them but still provide enough challenge. Where they're going to enjoy them.

It is entirely logical at twenty three years of age. He's twelve years younger than sergio. Ramos and iran does stay. Then you will certainly want to build on the confidence that has returned to me towel after a difficult first season and a half since signing with real madrid but there is always about of course of madrid. Do see verandah. Then where should they be looking for his replacements. Well the focus will switch to jews. Coon day the french central defender is a severe. He said i'm a great club. Is Tutu Atwell Too Small to Succeed in the NFL? - burst 03

"Okay. Let's move on to a guy that's being compared by now to rashad. Bateman in that is lonsdale more. He went to the arizona cardinals in the second round. And this is a guy that a lot of people are on dynasty as well. Collier thoughts on rhonda. More from purview. Run more than other guy data you know. I like the talent. I kind of wonder what his role is going to be in arizona that they do have the passing volume there to support him to become a fantasy viable wide receiver. If he's talented as he can't is athleticism has shown. I think he can produce a to be coming up a pretty valuable fancy option. I just. I'm not really in love with them. Taking them in the first round though. Because i'm not confident that he ends up becoming a very coveted player long-term. I'm just not sure that he that it's without getting the volume that Some of these other top receivers. You're going to get. I'm not sure that his death. The targets are going to be Extremely valuable and so. He's renita rely on a lot of catches now again with the air raid being spread system. There should be a lot of underneath stuff or that. It can complement deandre hopkins. So you later in their careers and you might see these. Two guy switching. But as coming out of college rancho moore's is very limited in what it skills that is He did almost everything. From elias scrimmage whether handoffs or getting short yard passes and running after the catch which is it's good for a lot of offense is like i said he could be a nice compliment out nice Robin but to deandre hopkins. But i i definitely cannot see a batman batman Combination there so. I think that the upside is. The ceiling is a little bit low for me for wanting to spend a first round pick. I think that What you can do with a lot of these guys is if there if you're kind of not sold on them at a back in first or early second round picks you know people covet. Those rookie picks quite often. And you can sometimes get undervalued veteran that you know is going to produce next year i agree with you on wanda and it's baffling to me that these two guys have with similar with shout bateman in baltimore the guy. We just talked about a similar. Adp in dynasty rookie draft right now average draft addition. They're probably going round. Pick eight pick or so but like you call. I think that rondo more is more of a second round. Pick because of the fact that hopkins is already there and i'm gonna touch on that a little bit more and say that long-term if let's say rhonda more sticks with the cardinals. Is he ever going to be a number one receiver in target for cal for calamari. Because as long as the andrea is there and he's demanding one hundred seventy targets. There's not a lot of room. That offense to morris thrive. So that's why i'm with you on route. One del more. I think he's a talented receiver but Even before the draft i was not as high on rhonda with a lot of receivers seeing this landing spot to me makes him in less desirable of a prospect for me. So i'm not on the vonda more train either. And this is probably a guy that i will avoid. I have no problem taking him in the second round. But based on where i've been singing going i think he's not gonna fall to a second round. And if there's a toss up between vonda more rashad bateman the board that i'm gonna pick shot bateman That's what i'm going to be doing every every time. Because i just like Bateman a lot. More than i do rhonda more at this point. Yeah i do i. She liked the landing spot. You know. being tied to collar long-term is a is a positive. I think as far as you know where people are going to proceed even if he does come out and flashes rookie year. People are gonna get really excited to you. Know that that's one thing that i think that You either one of these guys are tied up the young quarterbacks that can rush around and can hit a deep ball i just wondered what his development curves because the way he was using college and if he does maybe this guy could be a terrific type because he really is at that super athlete of prospect. Is Amazon's New Show Really Invincible?

"I want to hear your thoughts on amazon's invincible. So you know it's funny. I sat down to watch this last night. And at first glimpse it feels like a saturday morning cartoon. When i was a kid i would wake up early. Get down on the couch gate my bowl free pebbles or whatever it was and i'd sit there and i watch like spiderman and the animated adventure the superman justice league when that became a thing. That's what this felt like. It had of nostalgic feel to me. Then as. I'm sitting there watching this like i start to feel about halfway through the episode. I started to feel like burnt out on superheroes. Like i in. I thought to myself like is this. Because i'm being over saturated with superhero related media right now because the key. We got falcon winter soldier. Wanda vision just came out. There's the boys I'm watching there with my wife and sat there wondering like is this due to like superhero fatigue. What's going on. But then i realized that. Like you know and i kind of realized this when i was reading the comic books but it has a lot of from superhero stories. That have been used before you look at. If it seems to have like a lot from superman it takes an awful lot from dragon. Ball z the planet conquerors. Right or which struggles you i. I'm i'm pretty sure. Inspired by superman justly has adventures thrown in there and a murder mystery tabu as well. So there's so many elements from getting superhero things that have been incorporated into this. And like i guess seeing it on screen really brought it to life and i sat there thinking when the episode was over. I thought to myself like. I don't know if i really wanna watch anymore of this. And like i remember being surprised by a lot of the events when reading the comic books but just seeing it on screen made me feel like like. I didn't need to see it in this type of

"Last year of black widow was supposed to come out and people were constantly. You know. Say i wonder if black widows coming to streaming i wonder black windows come into streaming and for everything and disney's been pretty Forward in regards to releasing stuff on their streaming network from move onto rare the last dragon but the mcu stuff just always seemed untouchable now turns out black widow. Not only are they moving the release statements coming out in july instead of me. But it's coming out in theaters and on disney. Plus though i think this is huge huge news whether you guys think ads. Yeah it's pretty big and especially for the. What is the fourth of july weekend. You know it's a it's a pretty big move. It's a ballsy move on disney. You're not you still charging thirty dollars on their streaming services or you could go to you know. Pay ten bucks for it and try not to did. I think i think it's a good move. Yeah it's interesting. Because i would say it's well i would have to imagine that the one division and the falcons stuff is like done really really well and I think it's kind of well not let myself. And it's kind of reignited. Some marvel fun and love and a lot of people. I think so. I think it's a good move. It's pretty like daddy said it's a really ballsy decision Yeah i think. I kind of i think we talked about on. The show is kind of like yeah. You know it's not there but that's okay. It was kind of suffering from a little bit of burn out from it but Wanda vision to drew me right back into Especially because that show kind of played fan theories and stuff but Yeah really big move because Come jalek you said. It's you know. Right smack dab in the middle of summer. It's the fourth of july weekend by that. Point theaters will be. Maybe not one hundred percent open. But there's going to be a lot of theaters out there in these movies costs. What what upwards of two hundred million dollars to make

Making Medical Deliveries by Drone is Solvable

"Explain to me how it works in other words. There's a there's a nurse who sees that. She needs a particular blood product in rural tanzania. Does she pick up a phone and call. Someone is the How does the system work. And how is it that the drones are ready to go and are they. Are they in some kind of medical base to start with. What does the system look like. Although there's a lot of complicated technology behind the service that we provide the experience of this service that solve is extremely simple which is essentially a push a button on a phone. Get the medical product that you need to save a patient's life delivered to your gps coordinates. There's no training really required for nurses or doctors health workers. They can place orders in a number of different ways other van online form or by calling the phone number or also by using what's up what's up actually winds up being incredibly reliable kind of infrastructure In in a lot of these countries and so any nurse or doctor health worker complacent order all of the complexity of you know autonomous aircraft and like getting regulatory approval and knowing how to do safety and maintenance et cetera is kind of handled in the background. They'll get a text message. Saying thanks for letting us know order has been dispatched. It is twenty four minutes away and then much like using ridesharing. they'll get a tax when it saying. Hey the products one minute away. Please step outside. it's gonna be delivered in turmoil. Box and the drones. Really move fast enough to make this work. Yeah so the juicy simple technologies blind builds distribution centers and the aircraft themselves we employ teams of engineers operators at each distribution center on each distribution center can serve around twenty thousand square kilometers or something. Like eight thousand square miles Which is typically between two ten million people so for example we cover the whole country. Wanda to distribution centers cover the country of ghana with about eight. That's where we store. Inventory of medical products and then each distribution center will serve around two hundred to four hundred primary care facilities in hospitals and each of those facilities is getting a delivery often several times a day sometimes several times a week depending on the size of the facility would essentially teleportation. It means that now it's possible to teleport products from central place out to all these different places where patients may need something. The benefit of having teleportation like service for national health care systems is that they can dramatically improve access particularly for renewable populations. They can reduce waste. Because you're sending less stuff out the last mile and before it's actually needed by patient and finally you can actually increase the diversity of the products that are available at prior carefully so it makes it possible to treat patients closer where they live

5 Mistakes to Avoid when Preparing Students for Standardized Testing

"Standardized. Testing can be stressful. But there are some things you can do to minimize the stressful situation and the such students up for success and i know that this year is particularly difficult because about testing students during a pandemic is not something teachers want to do. So i'm here to give you some things to avoid when thinking about standardized test one thinking about standardized testing whether or not. Your state is going to do that this year. So the first mistake to avoid is to not explicitly teach test taking strategies throughout the year sometimes as teachers. We can wait until a month before the test a week before the test to teach students those test taking strategies am i saying teach to the test no but when students are familiar with test they can strategies it will help them to reduce their test anxiety because they have strategies to use when they get stuck if they they don't know the material and they can't move forward and also test taking skills are used beyond school so important for students to learn to be able to use their tests they can strategies and just as an example in my adult life. There are numerous times when i've had to take tests to demonstrate my knowledge in nineteen talk about google certification in order to become google certified. You have to take a test. Is it a standardized test. No but it's a test that is going to demonstrate my knowledge so i need to have those test taking strategies to help me and a students need those test taking strategies the second mistake avoid is not simulating the test environment. Simulating the test environment will prepare students for what they will encounter on testee. If students are familiar with the testing environment. They can focus on their test. The third mistake is not exposing students to practice test items. I did not know the power of exposing students who practice test items honestly. A former principal of mine is the wanda injured. -duced this to the teachers in our school myself. It was eye opening because once we started doing it. We saw that some students got stuck with even understanding the question and it's just unbelievable how exposing students to the test item health. Help them to prepare for what they were going to encounter on testee and the students saw the level of difficulty with the task questions. Teachers had to encourage them and let them know that they could do. It may look different from what they were taught in the classroom. It is something that they will be able to break down and figure it out. The third mistake is not teaching students how to use technology tools in the test or that will be used in the test after proctoring multiple test. I noticed students did not know how to use the tools in a standardized tests that they were taking for example something as simple as dragging and dropping students who are not familiar with. This will have great difficulty answering. The question are tackling the question. Some students because they have never been taught how to use the tools like the highlighter. Function will sit there and play with the tool so teach students how to use technology tools in the standardized tests. And you know we can say that students they're digital natives so they know how to use these things but do they know how to use the context of test taking setting. That was actually tip number four or mistake number four so now we're on mistake number five and that's not teaching students how to check their work or answers. I've seen this time. And time again or a students will not go back and check their work. During a standardized test teaching students how to check their work will prevent them from making minor mistake. Second cost them. Having students check their work on a continual basis is also a best practice for instruction some key takeaways from this episode number. One is to explicitly teach at test taking strategies throughout the year. No we don't wanna teach to the test for students need to learn. Test taking strategies. Number to simulate the test environment make sure students know what they're going to expect an environment on test day number three expose students to practice test items sit into able to see the level of difficulty number four teach students how to use the technology tools in the test or that will be used in the test and last but not least. I know that there is a lot of controversy surrounding standardized tests this year especially with everything going on but i do think there is some benefit to teaching students test taking strategies and all the things that we talked about previously

"With the whole flashbacks ret com not was happening year. You're reliving moments that you've told yourself i already knew what happens. And then it twisted in such a way and yeah ret conned but still made it still feel like. Oh oh the like. I'm i'm giving more of this and it didn't feel repetitious fell off venting. It felt new if felt like purposeful and and it felt very much like this is what i've been missing and it took us a while to get there. But they had other things to worry about. I mean that's thing about them. See you you you do have this expansive daredevil and you have all these characters that it's your real. It's hard to from from altron to really show this love affair. The the attraction is there. We all know the shot. There's one shot in particular like server with that and and then you get a few seems in civil war. And then i still. I still think that when we when we recorded infinity war. I was all about wanda she was. She was great. So and this was just like you know what. We're not gonna have too much wanda in endgame. But she's gonna get nine episodes so don't worry about it. And and elizabeth all said nailed it. Call that need nail the catherine hawn catherine on the new low key from what i understand. They knew the witch that we never thought we needed. Who who just is is yeah. It's going to definitely be around in one form or another And and i. I just i i was. I was mixed about the finale. I will be perfectly honest with you. Will and because i hate the internet i hate the internet because then or not does this thing. And and here's why maybe it should have been released all in one take well because if it was released on one take. There wouldn't be all of these theory. Spirals there one be all of this misstep expectations because we would have been able to. Just watch it from start to finish. No time to tell us odor mama's behind this or oh this guy's behind it or o. p. h. roe is definitely five different people in their all disagree with you there. I because i think we so there is what the fans want and or not we want. But there's what people who constructed as far as like what this must be as far as like phantom and and people who are like tr true marble files who like read everything in the comics and blah blah blah and. then there's other fans and one of the things. I think that's of genius about the image to you is that you don't have to be so steeped in the war that you can still enjoy it because they tell such great stories and so i think because it was released weekly it was one just gave. It became word cooler or could tell him talk again. That's it's it's definitely the. I think there is something to allowing that shared cultural experience been especially in in the times that we're living in right now that gives us to look something to look forward to right..

Bob Lazar, UFOs And Aliens!

"In may of nineteen eighty-nine and interview with investigative reporter. George knapp appeared on las vegas news channel k. l. a. s. a shadowy figure under the alias of dennis explained exactly what was a secret facility south of groom lake in the nevada desert nine flying saucers of extraterrestrial origin are being stored analysed and testify. The subject explains that he was tasked with reverse engineering the propulsion systems of the crash and did not know how the government had gotten hold of these crafts. The shadowy figure was eventually revealed to be bob lazar in a subsequent interview where he revealed his identity. Bob lazar who Has a bachelor's degree in physics and electronic technology from pacifica university and he continued his masters at mit. He's a very very very interesting figure. Did you know before we started this researching into this. Did you know about him. I did I watched the netflix documentary. Just a super interesting individual. And i ended up going back in like watching his interview with koa s and And seem like how all that played out in the incredible reach that it had after the fact you know it was translated into multiple languages. Played over the entire world and people were gripped by by this man's story in what he had to say because he he seems so credible. It's seems like everything he's saying really has weight in is truthful the fact that he started this with not really seeking the the attention or seeking the accolade but actually just seeking to get the information out there even hiding his identity that some might say that that would be the the behavior of someone trying to hide something but i see it as behavior of someone who is trying to protect themselves. Because they're saying something that that may actually be factual dude. I bet he is phone calls every single day. People trying to get a hold of this guy people trying to email him and all kinds of stuff and back when this verse back when this first came out. I mean think about that. The technology and the communication that they had then you know people people today are used to getting like notifications every single day but think about how he felt getting all these phone calls. When i mean he's just a regular guy he. He was picked up because he has like a coup wanda and now he's this huge figure. Even thirty years ago. I mean it's just insane. Yeah i mean. He said he used to have people camping on his lawn. And stuff. and you you to remember that within the ufo community. There are a lot of people that are. I don't know how to say it a lot of people. That are a little strange. So for those people to becoming too bob lazar and it's got to be slightly terrifying and you'll see as we kind of dive into his story that i find him very credible. I find everything that he says. Very very credible in a lot of the stuff that he has said in the past Eventually comes through. So basically he gets his degrees from mit and At university he starts working at a los alamos research lab. And i believe los alamos and working On physics and nuclear weapon research which is what what the lab does obviously and then during his employment there. Alex kind of set it. He builds a jet powered honda. It's kind of extravagant thing that he drives to work everyday. It's literally a jet on a honda. Civic nazi looks like something out of the future and he built this thing. I mean he built us thing in eighty nine. I think it might have eighty nine was one he actually worked as for so yeah it was. It was probably around eighty four. I think So that gets the attention of the los alamos local newspaper who put him on the front cover with his jet cars. Jet honda that he built and that that's a little bit important to the story later on so kind of put a pin in that. So he's working at los alamos and he says that he leaves los alamos and goes off to start other businesses. That that turn out to fail now he never really goes into detail or at least i couldn't find what those other businesses were but he a couple years later wants to get back into the science community

"Week i talked about the nexus nexus being and how wanda is going to be the next this being the next is being being the one that can control the their the prime in in the universe but they control like the multi-diverse and i don't know about that now i i really don't know if that's if wanda is the next us being because they introduced in this episode. They said that. Wanda is basically the kind of like the conductor of chaos magic and we'll we'll jump into chaos magic here in a little bit. But what were you saying. Steven i was gonna say. I took the confirmation that that they are heading there without officially giving her the label of the next being like giving their own cute different name. Which is the chaos which or whatever it was using chaos magic but chaos. Magic is something completely different than the next being chaos magic but it's basically chaos. Magic is basically create a had it written down what agatha said She says to the this. Chaos magic wanda that makes you the scarlet witch And then it says. I don't know it's from somewhere else. But is chaos. Magic is the name of magic so powerful that it was thought to be nonexistent. Even by the source where supreme this magic can be manipulated warp and reconstruct the very fabric of existence and reality for the user and it brings total destruction to the cosmos. Yeah rebecca slow. Isn't that i think that's the thing that's not from this episode though that is from like you know like marvel wicky fandom which i mean trip definitely could be something that she's able to do but in this episode the way that agatha described it was basically you can with your yet. She's capable of creating spontaneous creation. She says you have no idea how dangerous you are. You're supposed to be a myth. A being capable of spontaneous creation. Here you are using it to make breakfast for dinner. This chaos magic wanda

WandaVision Episode 7 Breakdown

"All right. I was excited about this because as we were texting i was literally going. I knew it. I knew it throughout the whole episode so very satisfying for me and you also knew it. And i can't wait for you to brag on that moment in just a minute but first this week the sitcom style was modern family meets the office and as a fan of both of those shows. I loved it. Wanda was very wanda's parts were were modern family and visions parts. Were the office. So it was like a weird. It seems like it would be weird. But i liked it. It worked for me. So we start with wanda dealing with the aftermath of the halloween episode her expanding the hacks her trying to say vision her dealing with a fake brother and her kids are like really worried about her. They come upstairs trying to figure out what's going on their game. Is glitch ing which shows that things are not completely under control anymore. They're game went from like a week controller to a believe. It was like a dreamcast controller. Who atari and then to just you know playing cards. The kids are like what is happening. Billy tells one that his head hurts. Now that's this is an important moment. Not only because every mutant on the planet. I'm pretty sure that has telepathic. Abilities has at one point in their origin stories. Said it's so noisy in here because they can hear everybody's thoughts until they learn to filter and really kind of controller powers. Jean grey charles exhibitor. They've all dealt with that Yes ashley stay out of my head. No because you won't stay out of mine so anyways that's important to hold onto because it's gonna come into play later. Now they do a whole office montage for the opening credits. And there's a quick shot of a it. Looks like one of those ransom notes where they've cut out a letter from a magazine or newspaper. It says i know what you were doing. Wanda who is that. We don't know. There's also a cute little amish to stanley in the license plate that says wanda and i just kinda hope like i know. We're obviously not getting any more cameras from him. But i would love to see something of his or something that reminds us of him to show up in each of these shows and movies going forward mice personal like i dunno to sense outside. Sword has mustard together and they are preparing for a massive attack on westview. Because once again told you so hayward's bad guy like a really bad guy. He's not even trying to be a good guy right at the recently. Not second he might have announced good enough so told you so. Vision wakes up and he's surrounded by the sword circuit and darcy is inside the circus as the escape artists. So when we last are choose being sucked into the heck's and she was wearing hand she was handcuffed to like the sword vehicle. Well now. She's escape artists but she can easily get out of it. She does not remember. Who vision is. She thinks he's trying to hit on her. She's like hard past dude. I'm like not into you like this is not going to be a thing. Envisions like dude. Don't you remember. We locked eyes. We had a moment you understood me. She's like no and just blocks away from him The boys are wondering where their dad is and wanda says. She can't force him to do anything. So it's again i think. She is finally accepted the fact visions outside of her control

Wandavision is breaking open the multiverse in the MCU

"Wanda vision has been one of the more fascinating. Mcu projects well ever introduction of x. men quicksilver as a multi verse wrinkled thing. So let's discuss. What this all means. Chang the daily charge. We're off today for president's day so we pre-tape this episode and decided to have a little fun with one division so here to help us is dutiful. One division recap sean kane. Welcome sean thanks for having me. Are we technically speaking from a different reality. Then since we're you know this is from a different time. Kind differ time for sure. We'll see what happens on monday. We can't really predict what's gonna what's going to be like on monday. We might be in another universe. I don't know clearly marbles having some fun here teasing or potentially even breaking open the door to the multi-diverse with with wanna vision and full force. Boiler alert The last episode aired on friday. So running the some money so hopefully if you are watching this you've already watched it but this is just a bit of a warning. We are gonna go into spoilers. We're going to speculate about the whole show so if you had a washed it and you do intend to watch one vision and especially the pacific. The latest episode. Stop here go ahead. Watch the show. Come on back so that side. Let's let's jump into it sean. The last episode. Well let's get actually. Let's talk about episode five and ending episode five. That's when we the introduction of quicksilver and quicksilver not played by the actor who was an age of altron whose name escapes me for some reason But actually by the x men universe's version of quicksilver. A an interesting wrinkle a very interesting twist that has all kinds of implications show. What did you. How did you react to that that big moment at the end of episode five. Yeah it was wild. I mean like when the doorbell rings or the can't remember. I got really excited. All who is this like is this going to be atro- and it was and it just gave me the sense that like it. It's all fair game like any marvel cinema now. It feels like we could. We could see reference. Which i love. I love the idea of the acknowledging all that history and from a business point of view it makes a lot of sense to get people to watch all those x. Men movies dark phoenix which was one of the last x. Men movie set in that universe. Do very well the cinema and it just i think people are so invested in the marvel cinematic universe at anything from outside that fields in essential at this point but now i suspect people go to revisit those socks x. Men movies which there are a lot of good ones sobat woods. Some really bad ones but generally worth watching. I would say

"Want to talk a little bit about the falcon and the winter soldier trailer for we get into one division. Do yeah thank you for giving me that opportunity. This show looks like it's bad boys. That's what they're doing and that's good. I think that's good. I think it's fine. I think it's fine but my my not hot but it's not cold take is the pandemic did feigen favor. That's my take wanda vision. It is better for the brand long-term clearly there was some jitters whether it's been good short term for their push into television in onto disney blues. But better for the brand long-term to have something that was formerly interesting slightly surprising in unexpected launch. It whereas this feels. I'm sure it's gonna be entertaining. I'm hundred percent going to watch it with you. But it feels like the safest possible thing you could do to transition an action movie franchise to the small screen.

The Internet's Calling Out WandaVision For Being Too Boring

"It seems like designing. It seems to me at least at disney has been kind of unconscionable in the response to these first few episodes. They're having like with mandalorian. I feel like we got nothing right like they. They're not showing us previews not giving us interviews with people but every week like there were offered like a new interview with the cast members and like this week like we got clips like that kind of like were a reveal of look. This isn't just going to be the sitcom if you guys are worried about this being a sitcom in your marvel fan this is gonna get more marvel. Keep keep on to this. Like i love the show. I'm not saying anything bad about the show. I feel like All three of us are in the bag here for for that. We're we're people that are supposed to love by also understand that there's probably people that teenagers twenty s. You know even early thirties. that haven't watched old sitcoms. You know didn't watch like i did and are probably like what is going on here like. Do you guys feel the same way that i do that. Like it seems like disney was kind of worried that they might be losing marvel fans with the first few episodes the clip in the sizzle. Reel that they put out thursday morning. It played a little desperate to me. It did i. And i'm usually on board with. I think disney's very smart about marketing. That they do. And kevin feige is always gushing about how wonderful of a job disney does marketing all of marvel studios stuff. But it did play like. They're a little worried. That people aren't on board with the sitcom idea in. Maybe you're worried that that's all that it is. But i also felt like it was redundant because the end of episode three shows you very clearly. I mean the end of episode one pulls back in shows who you know i. I don't know. I splurged from the episode but It pulls back and it does show that somebody else is watching something here that there's a world outside of this episode three makes that very very clear so i i don't know why felt the need to show as much as they did and and maybe i'm just assuming too much. Maybe this was the plan all along that they've already these they have their spots and what they're going to market and show when it's all been laid out well in advance and they're not reacting to the reaction online which is still mostly positive from what i've seen With respect to wanda vision But as of viewer who was already locked in ready to watch the show at midnight. Pacific time thursday night I could've done without that spot especially a couple of the visuals in it. Like the big board with idea of the different people in the town Could've done without that. But yeah i was a little confused. The why they were showing so much and not being not playing things closer to the vest. Yeah i've i've seen like complaints from people and it's usually just the more casual viewers. Who are like. They're probably not paying like tons attention to the marketing And like they're just waiting to see what happens and they want to avoid everything at all costs and i think that they're watching the show and there were like. Wow this is all it is like this is supposed to be a marvel. Show like people are saying that they were bored. And i think a lot of this also comes from people who aren't super familiar with like classic television and they'll understand what they're trying to do by opening the show like this and realized that those the the things in these few episodes make what's happening now that much more impactful and irie And suspenseful and mysterious you know and so the complaints are unwarranted. I the marketing definitely feels reactionary. But at the same time marvel does doing so maybe they assume that this was how they were going to play out the entire time. But hopefully hopefully people stop griping about it because now they're getting marvel side of what they really want

"Just earlier this week. Over four hundred. We're going to hear from two voices on the ground. In chelsea it was actually a community specifically cited in the letter joining us now is denin yearly paulino the chief operating officer of laco lativa also known as the chelsea collaborative. That's a group that works to empower lat next immigrants to enhance their community social and economic health. Also joining us as dr wanda gonzalez. A pediatrician at m. g. h. chelsea healthcare center. Who signed the letter. Welcome to both of you know. Thank you happy to be here. Thank you and listeners. Talk with our neighbors in chelsea we want to hear from you about whether the commonwealth is getting its priorities. In the vaccine rollout right. What phase are you in. Do you think the phases are being established correctly. The governor's made some changes to who's in those phases recently. Are those good decisions. Eight hundred four two three eight two five five. That's one eight hundred four to three talk. So dr gonzales. I will start with you. Why did you decide to sign onto this letter. Well and. I it seems like a no brainer to me to be honest. I Oh quote my husband while we were talking about this. You know I you know. I was happy when i first heard about a huge Distribution center in gillette stadium But just the you know the look it it makes sense to. I think they were talking about incorrect me wrong about five thousand vaccines day. That's the goal. The goal is to go indeed But my concern was its location. You know for You know someone like me and my family the same family. Since i'm a healthcare worker. I get it differently but you know to go to foxborough to receive it. It's it's sort of one of those You know what a drag to have dry there but for my patients and chelsea most a physician for some people in the surrounding communities that is quite a barrier. You know many of them don't have cars Or and they also don't often don't work jobs. They have the flexibility to take off. You know and gortat foxborough to get their vaccine and when i was speaking about this with my husband we you know he said well sort of i'm giving credit him. He said well. We know when there a fire you. Don't you know the fire truck. The fire department comes to fire. You don't take fire. The fire department is one of the things that you're concerned about. Dr gonzales is is even if there is a vaccine available. It's not very practical if you can't get to it. Is that what you're saying. Exactly

Excuse me but what does this have to do with you? Someone has been following her and scaring her and I heard you might have something to do with that as you fit a description of one of the fish that she gave to me. What Ono the poor dear? "To his brother rollo. Oh where it basically confirms all the shit that was in the anteks that they're actually in fucking leper colony well that they're happy. Living in rio with multiple children got those fucking talking to try multiple. Maybe i mean 'cause i knowing wander. I think she could see the value of having a bunch of children league of drifters interest in fees anyway. I just wanted to share that. We can continue to whatever we're doing next which i imagine the story change storytelling just i i. I've got one sort of first off a drop. The whole status thing 'cause it wasn't funny. It was just mean thank you and also <hes> i've mentioned john wick earlier honda and i'm just saying i'm just saying saying that this movie if it up to the action <hes> still as funny but like a if if the choreographer for john wicks action scenes choreographed this oil lord but is john wicket character in it as well well like or eight john wick esque figure is dachau's up. He shows up at the end. That's what can is. He's quiet the whole time. He's technically the background guy and then somebody kills a fucking dog. It's not him in the stir and then he sounds like he's like. I'm taking over now auto killed his fishy love the fish he loved that serve this man or just joan wick. It's in the background of the airport looking for we see bodies bodies flying around <unk> wall one arche just trying to get on the goddamn plane. That'd be funny so if john is the bubby yoga. What is canon this in in this nightmare escape. Can he be kosher the death-lists they're it'd be a fucking funny. We see pretty much at def store and he does not die. That's true. He's given his his soul to another so that's why he can't die. I'm just over here sunny. Remembering that archie speaks russian right very very often a._m. And he does have a very nice place for only being a barrister. I'm just saying it's wendy's money really yeah. Oh okay yeah but no yeah wendy. Wendy's the one with the money that's why wanted us an run off with him like right there like leaving the gills behind. 'cause it's probably at this point. She sees <hes> <hes>. This is kind of a this is a fucked up. This isn't going to be the big one there to count my chickens and get out of here or thirty. It can be added to the list of options. <hes> basically okay i basically i've offer comedy but i also want me some year. While cory graff action scenes i would rate up to see kevin kline. Pull off a young kevin kline. He can't do it now. Wow off sub seventy one. No he is he just autobahn wikipedia twelve police as and when you guys were talking shirk kevin kline still would not fair. He's been unhappily married since nineteen eighty nine so to springboard off pippen's. Yes aside for my big thing. Hey let's have less dog log death. 'cause that was just burr gratuitous. That may be instantly not <hes> on ken side. He wasn't on purpose. He was trying trying to kill the old lady. That's way more forgivable dogs. Dying is a gag as i didn't like remember. You can kill the girl but you can't kill the dog. It's like the opposite of saving the cat. It's kicking. The dog and figure murderer is a step above kicking. That's how you know. Somebody's really bad guy and so like i can't really beyond his side. Sorry so i'd probably i do that first and foremost but then i was also thinking i love a good heist. Let's let's go into prequel town. How do we have this gang and get together. What is the planning phase. You can always make a full movie a prequel just the planning and execution of this highest. How's everybody re recruited recruited into. It is ken like the the innocent soul who gets brought into the life of crime and that's why such a turnaround around at the end of fish called wanda when he decided that he can kill a person for real and that's what cures him <hes> yeah the that element of course but lake. I i am a fan of heists in general so i'm always down for for for heist town. <hes> they're always fun to see be planned out and executed and then how do they deal with complications that come up along the way. Was there other heist like many heist that happened before hands. They could get all the requisite materials. How does george becomes suspicious. <hes> aside from the obvious stuff that we saw the audience of wanda and otto lick general existence yeah i mean he could list took like either there. Are there really to close or they're not siblings at all don dunton now. Here's the thing wanda could also engineered a situations such that it necessitated hiring a weapons expert in the first place like like she kind of does you can see her like doing stuff behind the scenes like causing incidents to happen at the diamond exchange that they will need extra the security there like an armed security member so that's why auto has to come into the mix now. It was supposed to be as simple job yeah as love that the line it was the post to be a simple job but other than that while increasing yet let's dog death. I'm not as much of a fan of just the slapstick comedy stuff just for playing on its own like not as gimme gimme. The intelligent jokes please thank you i think that's why was over here with the choreographed action and john frigging wick yeah see that's me. That's me more haste less dog death. Can i go go all right so the big thing. That really fucking bothered me about this. It's something that bothers me. In a lot of <hes> <hes> media and it's i think the problem with the not problem but it's a part of the genre or the medium rather film is that they've known each other for like what less than fucking weak and our cheese all like. I'm in love with you. Yeah i fell in love with you feeling the love of the low and also so it's been. It's been a hot minute. You know what <hes> i'm definitely going to cheat on my wife. Ruin my life and have sex with you because i love you or some shit like that. Here's what i want to argument what dudes it's good argument. However sorry bruce are you. Are you <hes> <hes> however here's what i would like to see. I would like to see wanda be like hi. I'm an american student. How are you by the way can we bone and an art should be like no. That's okay but you know what you keep going. Kid like fucking walks off and she's like wait. Wait wait wait. That is not how this goes was down. This is new and so she's just like. She's like dublin dow. She's like no. I was just gonna randomly seduce guy but no now he now. My honor is is involved and my skill sets and my integrity. I professional dammit. Meanwhile are not a barrister like we we can talk. I mean i looked it up. It's fine <hes> but you know i'm i'm married over here now. Secretly he is of course ready to leave his life and so on and so forth however however he's also like an adult and <hes> and also not easily swayed by some random chick who shows up who happens happens to be connected to the case by accident what i mean that was a big hand. This guy doesn't do like real estate. He does criminal law like for real and we see him when he's not being clustered. We see him being apparently good at his job. I mean this is not in idiot so i would like i would like there to be like a double game going on <hes> where he finds himself invigorated by this chase and by as you know going on and she is both invigorated and frustrated <hes> because she's come across the dude who is not immediately falling down in front of you know how her feet because she bats her eyelids and so they come to a point of understanding ending and you know yes. We're both but not with us. You know bullshit love stuff. I am actually really down with the idea of both of them. Running away to venezuela you are aware it is ago while maintaining the fiction that they happen to be on the same plane together by act. I'm sunny seeing this as not to bring it back to no leverage damn. It seems very natan sophie to me. It is for eight and i was thinking much about nothing but not the casts casts breath <unk> production but rather the one that had a david tennant <unk> where they like end up saying that like reading one another's love notes notes to each other and then just being extremely annoyed about it like i guess all mary you play my i had a pity i do friday heard who had a consumption so yeah like this is a much more sort of intellectual <hes> attachment but i think that will post movie grow into something more. There's like i think keeps the height of i mean. I'm a big fan of the slow-burn. I'll say it and the slow burr and the secret flirting the the game the catch and release <hes> and that's how i would like it. Forget all this nonsense about like because that's you can't build a life life off that. Can't you know you can't catch however many pounds it was for two billion or whatever it was you could do it for a certain because otherwise. I think that she'll be like you know no. This was not a chore but now i got shit to do and then she'll drop them off in boys areas or whatever and go about her mary fucking way she's a con artist so unless unless you can keep her on her toes she's going to like find something else. This is good for her right now but at some point it we'll get boring unless he is not going along with her. Jam on purpose says my change. I think you'd be set fuck. I'm i'm super into it. At what have you got so. I'm thinking that susan proper or where are they now stuff. That's actually go with the those <hes> those tags being the con- so instead of this movie we see that movie well no as an extension to just tweaking the speaking the ending bet a seeing them at like in rio de janeiro the kelaniya the dealer lepers or whatever and hers like thank you we really try are here and thanks to all my wonderful children that we can and do this and actually accepting donations or something and as she closes the door roar an open to the humane call me at it's just empty perver- random scheme painted flats everywhere. You're still has a tax to over of what we had in the movie. Yeah yeah yeah and okay. I a- and we're curly joe going to archie. Who's <hes> running some bucks or something <hes> doing the rare p._g. Where i think we should go next reykjavik and just you know although when you say that he's reading the books. I can't imagine him being thorough connors. I imagine catching him being just very like sweet about his wife's hobbies i he can. He can cook the books. I think he'd be smart enough for that. That cooking the the the <hes> you know financial books probably kicking the financial books but also making sure that they don't get arrested at the airport and or possibly extradited added later forty documents derogations ain't so yeah or using his connections.

"That she is depicted wanda isn't that she is detached she's removed from the audience she doesn't connect with any of the characters and therefore shouldn't connect with us really and that's hard for people because we expect that female characters are emotionally exposed in him to destroy their misery in front of us so we can analyze them and it's a double edged sword too it's like we expect our female characters to be emotional but at the same time we ridicule them living they are i guess off the top of my head would be sawn so from game of thrones much she's a very emotional character especially early on in the series end she got ridiculed for all oh she got a crush on joffrey at stupid bitch at like it's like you can't really win you know and wanda is a good example of that on the other end of the spectrum where the icy blonde can't win not unless she's a grace kelly you know she doesn't have a lot of expository monologues she doesn't tell any the character is directly how she feels and so we the audience can only know what we can say eight allies see the closest we get to sort of exposition is the photograph with her husband at mr dennis fines as a laser her wallet and also when he asked her about her children later on in one of the car scenes and just says they're better off with their father just no good that's the most how to get young never find out if like she had any real interest or was just or few was bullied at school or she had any other boyfriends like we don't we don't know any of that a risk for her to be a shitty mom she just is yeah and she just is the one moment that's really telling me that happens on here is when she is i with mr dennis and they've had their first night together.

"Is it bad ass like number may who like kicks ass in you know like does everything in really wins the movie i think a film can depend things as they really are a foam can depict a woman who is downtrodden and fucked up by women who is by the confines of the world that she lives in and truly feminist filmmaker is someone who depicts things as they are the real truth which is what barbara loaded really did with wanda and i know that loden didn't intend this to be a feminist film i either she said she knew nothing about women's rights at the time which was nineteen seventy i mean the second wave feminism was just just getting injured right and i know that feminists at the time this movie came out hated into oh how could you betray women in such a bad light which goes back to this why is she not smashing the patriarchy or the glass ceiling or the bourgeoisie you can't go in with that mentality with this movie and i think it's also tied to the idea that every female protagonists has to be likable which is why you say so many female protagonists in various movies in such that aren't likable get so much hey where a male character would get a pass for instance i know we've talked about betty draper on madman extensively which is a good example and also i think january jones if this movie ever did get remade i'm not saying it should but i think january jones would be a good pick for wanda yeah because like betty draper she does have that sort of cooled detached or about hair that definitely puts people off in a female protagonist they might accept a female protagonist who is hysterical or who is very angry even if she isn't like the kick ass superhero girl they want someone who is very big in the way.

"And yeah it's that stuff it looks like it's very realistic that image of the lone woman against this backdrop is it felt very real effect very real to me as someone who grew up in mining culture or or jason too i should say in like i said we get her just kind of moving in and out of the scenarios like i kind of 'em getting the feeling that there's going to be a court scene because we get the introduction of this guy who's driving down the road and this station wagon and he gets out and he's yelling up to a guy that i think he works with and he's saying you know i'm gonna be laid i gotta go to court and then eventually we see him at the courthouse and that's where wanda shows up at and this whole thing like i say it seems like he seems to be this seems to be happening nothing is necessarily handed out in this film we don't get a whole lot of like there's no no real information dump as we go through here we are just kind of there as a fly on the wall we're just experiencing this as this film is unfolding and we're not getting a lot of hand holding which kind of appreciate if feels very french new wave it feels very new cinema if felt a lot it reminded me a lot of like the killer of sheep just this kind of like you're experiencing a family person woman just how this is unfolding and things changed throughout you know she ends up in the courtroom to your point from earlier she doesn't fight for her children and so we're like bawaii is that but she just seems so noncommittal to anything it just seems almost like she's more thankful to be rid of these people and to have the freedom but it doesn't seem like she really has a stake in any game because she just moved from this scenario to another scenario to another scenario you know next.
