"Here's my reply. Write it down. And then look back at it. Six weeks from now. Tap the brakes, baby, tap the brakes. We We like to call it overreaction Sunday week number one, But that's our right of passage of sports fans and his football fans every fall. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. We're live from the rocket mortgage studios. Who do you need to know what it takes for a home to fit your budget and your family? Rockets can just to update you. U S a women's basketball has captured a 52nd consecutive victory on the Olympic stage. By 11 points over France, and so USA three no in the preliminary round in women's hoops, and then we'll update you on other events as they take place. In fact, an hour from now U. S. A women's soccer at the Olympic level even as the men's team some of the men's team, younger guys reserves but men's team nonetheless Team USA, now Gold Cup champions after beating Mexico with a goal in the 117th minute. Second extra time in Las Vegas and a raucous crowd of soccer fans on hand Sunday night. You can find me on Twitter, a law radio also on our Facebook page after hours with Amy Lawrence, But there's so much to unpack from the first full weekend of NFL training camps were pleased to welcome zig for Cawsey of Sirius X M NFL radio. He's buried in the NFL, so it'll be fun to pick his brain a little bit sick. Thanks so much for joining us. Let's start with the big news from the weekend, which Is the Colts losing Carson Wentz, whom they traded to get feeling like he was the piece to replace Philip Rivers and lead them forward and upward in the A. F. C. So what does this mean for Indianapolis now? You know, hang me. That's an outstanding question. Um, and the thing about it is to they had to have known that there is, you know an injury risk. Obviously, I mean, Frank Reichel should know that since he coached him in Philadelphia and Since that time, there have been more injuries. So your thought that maybe the Colts would have had a built in insurance policy, But maybe they feel confident enough. They did draft Jacob Eason, who's got a big arm and Lot of talent from the University of Washington in the fourth round last year, so obviously they think that he may be the future of that franchise. Now to wince. There was a report that came out yesterday. It said that he's going to try to rest and rehab this injury. And if it responds, well, you know, he may just missed portion of the preseason or, you know, be back for week one. But if it goes any longer, Amy and we saw this with Michael Thomas of the Saints to a certain degree. You wait and wait to try to rehab it and then when it doesn't heal, you're going to have surgery. And now he Michael Thomas, that is going to miss. Part of the opening part of the season. This may wind up happening to Kherson went, so you know, Now there's the drama to that pulls, you know, took over for went in Philadelphia and lead them to the Super Bowl. They may make a trade with Chicago's so it's a lot of drama involving Kherson once once again, and I feel bad for the guy because I think this was a good fresh start for him. And it may yet be for Indianapolis, hopefully isn't as hurt as he possibly could be. Well, when you think about the A F C south. Obviously, the Titans have had a good couple of years under Mike Vrabel. But the Colts were expected to be the team to beat in this division, Jacksonville starting fresh with Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence and a bunch of other Good young talent, but still starting at the ground level. And then we know Houston is a mess right now. How does this change your perception of that division I still would have had. Tennessee is the favorite. And I think now you can. Maybe how would just say Lock him in A little bit more. I think with the Titans, it's clear. You know, Tannehill has proven himself to be a quality quarterback. You've got a guy like Derrick Henry, who they call the king and rightfully so because he's a premier Russia. And I think they, you know, obviously upgraded the receivers a little bit and the offense isn't the problem. It's the defensive side of the ball where they needed to make some additions. And I think even you know, with some of the drafting and that I still think they are probably the class of the division. Indianapolis, Though, Amy, I'm not sure I would shut them down just yet, because if it's one of these deals, and we were talking about this on the radio yesterday that if Whence is not out. You know a prolonged period. Maybe he misses the first two games three games of the regular season. If somehow indie, can, you know, win one or two of those, then when he comes back, Um I still think the Colts will be available force. But I would shade towards Tennessee is the favorite. And obviously Indian. And after that, you know you probably I think Jacksonville will be a competitive team under urban Myron and Houston. Uh, what a what a disaster that that is, Unfortunately, And I feel for David Cully. Here's a guy. 65 years old finally gets a chance to be a head coaching me and he comes into this, You know, uh, Teapot Tempest. I guess you'd call it with DeShaun Watson situation. Well, let's talk about the A F C in terms of divisions because there's a lot of people who are pointing to the north as the class of this conference, and that's certainly the case When you think about the strength three teams. Last year, going to the playoffs, not to mention Cincinnati getting Joe Burrow back as well as a good young class of good draft picks. What about the A F C West, though, when you consider that division? How strong do you think it could be from top to bottom? Well, I still think Kansas City's favorite, obviously, because homes and you know they are, you know, obviously the defending, uh, two time UFC champion. So and my home's appears to be progressing well from his foot injury. So that's a good sign. But you wonder to Amy. They've got a cloud hanging over them a little bit. It's Frank Clark. You know, he was arrested twice in the off season for gun possession charges. So you've got to wonder if there's going to be sanctions coming down from the LAPD or even the NFL, and I think if that's the case And that may be weakens their pass rush a little bit so, but I still think they're the class of that division. And after that, man, if you know Herbert doesn't show any regression, I think the Chargers can be in play. At least give Kansas City is scaring that division. You get the new head coach there in Brandon Staley, and then after that, probably Obviously the Raiders out there with Vegas and, you know, be glad to finally see some fans there in that new Allegiance Stadium. That defense still needs a lot of work yet and until they get that figured out. And then Denver. You know, if you trip you put the Raiders offense with the Broncos defense. They could beat the Kansas City Chiefs. That's how good that team would be. But unfortunately, it isn't Denver has got a lot of work offensively, but defensively von Miller back and being healthy. Ah, they're going to be some problems therapy if they get any semblance of quarterback play. Maybe the Broncos knock on the door for wild card spot. We're excited to spend a few minutes talking football with Sirius X M NFL radio hosting for Kasey a lot going on this weekend as training camps are in full bloom. Now it's after hours with Amy Lawrence, CBS Sports Radio looking at the A F..

"If you're Chris Ballard, Do you pick up the phone and call Nick Osario, And if you're nicked Osario, the Texans general manager. Would you trade inside the division? If the Colts were offering the best package that's a more fun, hypothetical. To me is the possibility of do Shawn Watson. I don't think it happens. I don't think that'd be something where I could see somebody above Nikos Arrow stepping in and going. Look, We want to move on from the Sean, but we don't want to see him twice a year in the division. Going to give you a fantasy football lock right now. If you're at the Shawn Watson owner, I don't know if he's going to play this year or not. I can't tell you what the forecast is there. I just tell you, I think he'll play again some day. Start to Shawn Watson every week in every lead that you have against the Houston Texans when they play the Houston Texans. My guess is that DeShaun Watson having to show up at practice every day and stand in the heat here in Houston. And looked totally detached is maybe a little embarrassing to him. Certainly it's inconveniencing him. It would appear by his body language, and my guess is it's angering him a little bit. My guess is the Texans are probably like good. I mean, his his campus dragged the Texans through the mud for the last several months. I'm not saying they don't deserve it. I'm just saying if I were in their shoes I might be like, Yeah. You know what? You're going to show up to practice you're under contract. Stand over there. But man, it's some fascinating wrinkles with all this stuff, man, But I think the colt The Colts more likely. Well, they're going to ride this Carson Wednesday. That's funny. I was listening to the promo going into the last break. Where I think it was, Uh, it was tiki and tyranny. We're promoting their chauffeur Monday they were doing one of their little five second liners. And I think it was Tiki who he's just reading the copy. But, he says, is the Carson Wentz era already over in Indianapolis. Or something like have the Colts moved on from whence already and I'm thinking, Okay, I get it. It's a promo for your show on Monday like that's I have no problem with the promo or either of those guys like that's what you do with those promo is you're creating. Foam. Oh, you're creating anticipation for the show. You're conveying what the topics are, but I was just I was taking that question literally for a second and I was thinking, Can you imagine if that's what his foot's banged up? Okay, well, that's it. We're done with you Whence? Alright? Philly looks like you're getting a second, not first. Who's up next? Jacob Eason here, Get in there, Pat him on the butt and have him run out there with the ones you're up next. Can you imagine? Can you imagine the answer to that question? Where? Yes. Had the Colts already moved on from Carson Wentz, like that would be wild. We're trading for you. But I'm telling you at the first sight of any injury work done with you. That would be awesome. Right. 855 to 1 to four. CBS to Myrtle Beach Stock to Tom Tom, you're up on CBS Sports radio. Yeah, I'm curious to see how things go with urban Meyer damage Jacksonville, the dynamics between him and the players How you know what he was able to do it, collegiate level translates to the professional level. And also Trevor Lawrence. You know, uh Is she going to be able to live up to expectations down there and And how are the veterans embracing him? Or maybe not embracing him? I think there's a lot of interesting questions surrounding Urban Meyer's Jacksonville camp. I'd like to be inside of that. Yeah, that's a good one. Tom. I appreciate the phone call didn't even mention the t word. Tebow. You got to bow down there, too. You know you have that media session going on. I wonder. Have they put Tim Tebow in front of the media? Yet down in Jacksonville would imagine they're asking for him down there. You think about that for a second. I have to go back and look at their website or off the text. My, uh, friend of mine is now in charge of PR down there used to be in charge of the Texans here off to text her and find out if they've done a Tebow press conference yet. Through the first few days like if you think about it empirically, he's probably like the fourth tight end on the depth chart. He's definitely not somebody who, just by position on the depth chart the media would be clamoring to hear from early on in training camp. And yet I feel like after urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence Tebow would be next on the list of people that media members in Jacksonville feel like could generate clicks. For their website. So there's that that's a good one. Man, Urban Meyer. I look, I wanted the Texans the higher Urban Meyer. He was my first choice here. They most certainly did not hire urban Meyer. Um But, uh urban Meyer's kind of laying down the law in Jacksonville with season ticket holders. If you saw the story, he's like man that he talked about opposing fans invading the Jacksonville Stadium down there. He's like that BLEEP is over. That's done. We're not doing that anymore. We're not having opposing fans take over our stadium. We'll see. We'll see. I mean, Jacksonville has not been the most passionate fan base. Not that they've had a ton to root for over the last few years other than 2017 when they made the A F C title game..

"Or their O t a practice. What is that deal? I don't know. The story does not explain what's going on the Jaguars 49 years and Cowboys have all been fined. For organized team activity violations OTAs or the voluntary practices that we just had, which a lot of teams canceled. The Cowboys fined $100,000 Mike McCarthy was flying $50,000 Have you told me Mike McCarthy messed up? I believe you Okay, I believe you, but they practice in their fake punch a lot or something. But the school fig podcast. Come on. It doesn't It doesn't specifically say what they what they did wrong. Cowboys ordered to forfeit one Oh to practice during the first week of the 2022 off season, the Jags and Urban Meyer. Yeah, you got to clean it up because his penalties were more severe. Jags fined 200,000 Urban Meyer fined 100,000. They were ordered to forfeit to practices. Well, they were probably in full pads for urban's first Go came in. Line them up. Yeah. Oklahoma drill. Let's go. Uh, the Jag said in a statement that the club is quote vigilant about practicing within the ceiba rules and will re emphasize offseason training rules as they relate to contact. Urban Meyer Envisions Utilizing Tim Tebow in Taysom Hill-Like Role

"Got tim t we got. We got number one. Pick in the draft playing quarterback. We got a team. That was one in fifteen a year ago. And now we're bringing it in ten tibo to run a taste him hill style package. Chris canty what do you think of that. I don't like it g. I gotta be honest with you. I mean we've seen him he'll be able to do a lot of things in the nfl. You can throw it can catch. We hadn't seen him to be able to do that at a high level at least not enough to warrant him being able to make a return after a six year absence from the sport so i just think it's a long shot in terms of being a contributor on the field with the jacksonville jaguars and if he's not going to be somebody that's a productive player. I don't think it's worth the distraction again. This is another one of those moves. This offseason got a lot of those guys in that. Jacksonville jaguars locker room looking at herbert. Meyer sideways i going out there and trying to sign. I will strength coach. Chris doyle to be your head or strength conditioning. After what happened with his tenure there and now with bringing it over i just. It's a move that reeks of privilege. And it's a move that could undermine the credibility of your head coach moving

Is Urban Meyer Taking a Gamble With Tebow?

"The biggest story in the nfl right now. is tim. Tebow and the jacksonville. Jaguars on friday afternoon. The jaguars sign boat to a one year. Nine hundred fifty thousand dollar minimum deal as a tight end. His jersey makes up the top five selling items on the nfl shop dot com store. Now figure that out and to me urban meyer's really running the risk of losing his locker room here because if you talk to people inside the league if you talk to executives and other coaches there's a lot of genuine skepticism over urban meyer becoming. Nfl head coach generally. And there's a sense that it's four more likely that he flames out and never wins a playoff game than it is that he winds up winning a super bowl when this experiment bringing in tim tebow not necessarily even as a quarterback you have trevor lawrence. They're bringing tim tebow into that locker room in two thousand and twenty one and having him sing for his supper is a tight end. There's a belief that meyer runs the chance inside the league of losing his locker room before this season even begins

"A statement. Not long afterwards saying i want to thank the jaguars for the opportunity to compete an earned the chance to be part of this team. I know it will be a challenge but it is a challenge i embrace. I am dedicated to taking the direction of our coaching staff and learning from my teammates. I appreciate everyone's support. Is i embark on this new journey. So the story coming out and we will be obviously talking about it this afternoon. We begin with mike dirocco. Who's been covering the story all day and then some for espn. Mike thank you very much. It's great to have you on. And i'm just gonna kick my feet up on the desk and listen to how the day begun in what has happened since then good afternoon. Thanks for having me Yeah i mean we had people on the field for the first time today signed this morning and out there wearing number eighty five and working out at tight end. Obviously this is just the offseason conditioning face to the off program next week. They start organized team activities on monday. That's what we'll kind of the whole team together throwing. Footballs and around getting a chance to see. What the former heisman trophy winner looks like it. Quarter at Tight end whether he's gonna be doing some blocking drills running around a chance to find the tibo tight end could've been well. Let's let's talk about What the club has said. And when will we hear next from urban. Meyer and tim tebow. Well i've been told the tvos probably not going to speak until training camp which would be the end of july At least publicly anyway and

Why Would Jaguars Sign Tim Tebow?

"We are back final hour. It's been a fun show. We appreciate you being here. A lot of conversation with my Mike smith earlier. We also talked to dennis dodd. Another conversation predictably has been tim. Tebow we've given you a lot of reaction on that in the mike cannon bom from espn former gm jets dolphins. He's been here a couple of times. He had this to say earlier today. On keyshawn jay will and zubin about understanding the signing. I don't like it. I just don't see the upside in this move. He's thirty four years old. He would be a backup. I just don't know of thirty four year old players that can come in and be back place special teams and you're taking away a roster spot from hopefully a young developmental player that could grow with a young nucleus obviously led by trevor lawrence. And to me this is probably through the lens of urban. Meyer saying a decade. And a half ago tim tiba was the most competitive guy i've ever been around and he can help set the culture. If i was in that building what i would be pushing back saying coach. That may be true but in the nfl as you well know. Players needs to be led by players. They believed can take them to where they wanna go and as a backup tight end. I just don't think tim tebow would have that same credibility as he wants dave when he was the starting quarterback in florida. He also questioned whether tibo could even makes a team. I just don't see how he makes the team or urban and he's a really good coach he he's been historically great college but i just don't know he has to earn a spot and he's given a spot. That's gonna cause a big problem because players weren't have a chance to win and again to me just putting on my lens of a general manager and roster construction if you're not a starter in the nfl with only forty six players dressing you have to play special teams so my question. is tim. tibor thirty four years old going to cover cover kicks that remains to be seen. Now if he doesn't earn it does a totally different discussion. But i don't think you could sign him and say hey. He definitely has a spot on this team.

Jacksonville Jaguars Expected to Sign Tim Tebow as TE

"This is austin lane. He's a former. Nfl tight end the host of action. Sports jacks on. Espn radio he was joining. He was joining freddie and fitzsimmons about whether tibo is going to be jacksonville simply for his leadership. The whole narrative that tim tibo coming to jacksonville. Be an urban meyer guy and helping that locker room presence. i think it's baloney. I'm not buying into that narrative because what what guys look for in terms of leadership and guys buy into his guys that have had except you know leaders guys that you can say this guy the baller. I gotta follow him and watch. How does now. I've talked to many times. Tim is a fantastic guy. But i think the whole narrative of you're going to bring him in because he's a great locker room guys all right. Great there's there's tons of great locker got. There's tons of great teammates just like any locker. Rooms made up of all types of people. So i'm not buying that austin lane also talked about. What exactly will tibo be doing assuming. He makes the team the whole narrative. That tim tebow coming to jackson i understand that he knows urban meyer. They have a great relationship. I guess you know. Urban meyer bought a house. experts week. Sent tibo so even if he makes the team. That's going to be great e hollywood. Tv show Urban meyer tim hero next door. It's gonna be fantastic. It's gonna do all the rating. But i do think this. This is urban meyer first year and then i saw and you know he's bringing his guys in. I understand all that. But what earn myers gotta realize. Real quick is that. You can't take anything if tim people is going to make. This team is because tim tebow has earned a spot. There are no you know there is no. I like this guy lot. Let's give him a spot. That doesn't work like that players not locking them. We'll see through that day one so two hundred two things are going to happen either. Tim tebow is not the tight end which we don't think he is and i'll be honest. I'm kind of in that boat or tim. Tebow is a tight end. And he earns his spot and he gets that roster spot and that's it was not good enough during the roster spot. He's not gonna get it. Because of urban meyer gives him that spot. He's gonna lose that locker room in a heartbeat.

I mean, I The only reason that this is happening is because every Mars the head coach of the Jacks with Jaguars in urban Meyer was not to the National Football League. Tim Tebow would not be entertaining anything like this, so if he wants have a chance to play a new position. "urban meyer" Discussed on The Adam Schefter Podcast

"That's not by accident. This has been and i just wish i think they'll be. I will if i if this all works out. And we decided to drop. Trevor which or whichever quarterback but I look forward to meeting that family. Because i love what i see on personal everything in line. That's not by accident. You're on the phone with a quarterback grew this morning and he said if you go back and look at all the games they've trevor started since high school high school college. Maybe before that he started more games and a guy like sam darnold has to this point his career and one of the reasons that he is a successful as he is because he's got so much experience at the position even though he didn't play an entire time at clemson. Do you see that intimate all urban. Why do i have in dwayne haskins. I loved going hassle joint one year. He came in and and was excellent. Coming out of high school but he played one year colleges guys play three every starter. He came in and i can't remember. Which game was he took over early in the seats but then heist boys started. But you're right and that that that position is a position. Obviously i know very well. That is the ultimate repetition position in all sport. Now that's one that you just see experience. You see permit with expressed all all all positions like that. I would challenge. I don't know of any sport. That is that That of any sport or any position where repetition is so port. And that's the case here now. I don't know how much attention you paid to the draft to two thousand and eighteen urban. But that was a draft in which four teams traded up in the first round to it for different quarterbacks and i'm just wondering if you are expecting a busy thursday night of activity once you make your pick at number one and if you pay attention to that kind of thing you all of course i do i. I am intrigued by it. I've talked jimmy johnson a few times and i know he came up with Based chart i hear back is worth twelve hundred points in the justin so intrigued by that in in trent bulkier. Gm's got his own and in. I've studied that. I i just enamored about the value of pick number eighteen in the second round versus the six pick overall versus guys that you alexa videotape and i keep going after our jam. How do we get guy move up in the draft and you can see the value of those top five six seven picks. I get it. I never quite Enough time i did study at like i am but i. That is mesmerized. Me right now is how you because i you know. I can't after the draft. We can talk about it but there are some people in this draft that i'm looking at my gm same move up man. Let's get there and he's not. he's not debate. You know the mortgage. Somebody's what you'd have to give away your next few years of draft choice Obviously that's not business spark. Well that's what san francisco to get up to three. What was your reaction to that I don older situation I was once again. I just studied and i even sat down. We actually had a beating by know. How and why. And what your thoughts on this in our system jammer gm personnel on. And i asked to in shattner. What's your thoughts because know sunday. We might be in that position this year. But someday and what's the point of having a meeting like that too. Assessed a move that another team made to get to number three. When you're at number one. How does that benefit you just annoy. Just that one day you might be in a similar position. Well this is adams to so much this new to me. And i want to know if i'm gonna be involved in decision making which i am the first thing you know. I have obligation become educated in the state. And i'm not you know my ego is not such that i'm not gonna ask you for twenty five years. Tell me about this and the guys i'm hired. I can't very pluses. it's been really really good though author. Jane from eighty grows up. Nfl guy. and i don't know if this is real or not. But how much pressure do you feel to get it right with quarterback at the top of the draft while you may not feel pressure about everything but this has been the one. I can't was thirty. Five years i've been involved in a game of football har- as a coach and the player. I can't think of a more important decision that i've been involved. I mean this you're talking about organization that needs to jump start your that you're talking about. I don't want to get to date but you're talking about an incredible community the need to jumpstart. You need a fan base. That needs a jump start. You need a this all this. This is on it man and ill not challenged everybody honor including myself. And that's why you ask about the deep dive dr ryan and deep divers. A lot of people count on us an owner. But you know you start looking in. I've been here now for almost three months. This community is incredible Loved ninety four duval county. And all that. He was just happy to come out of the hole and talk to a human being outside the jacksonville jaguars or i think. He's sick of being in a hole. He sick of talking to the people and his bill gates building. He welcomed outside voice and we were happy to provide that for him as he took some time out of his busy schedule before he turns in the card on thursday night with a number one overall pick that everyone expects to be the clemson quarterback trevor lawrence. Who is QB2 in 2021 NFL Draft?

"It would have been fully justified and with that we welcome you back as always live from the seaport district appear seventeen brought to you by chase. I green this get up and we have a huge our coming your wine. It starts with this. It's a quarterback sneak mc shays make board is in and wait till you see the first four picks. He's with us live to break down off the top. Then wait a minute. What did russell say. Is he talking about getting sri. Didn't from seattle the wild ride in. Nfl history continues. And then we'll tell you how the shawn watson saga plays out and what it will mean for every team in the nfl. All that and more as we get out with you when this hour which starts right now with todd mcshay post super bowl mock draft. It's available right now on espn plus all it. It's fascinating a number one. That's no big surprise. He's got trevor lawrence going number one to urban meyer and the jaguars. But here's where it gets interesting. He also has quarterbacks going to three and four at two he has the jets taking. Byu's zack wilson who has been rising up. Everybody's draft what he has been be talk of the nfl draft process so far at three overall. He's projecting trade the panthers moving up from eight to take north dakota state's train lance to be their quarterback of the future which leaves ohio states justin field sitting there. Four and mcshea has the falcons taking him fields the second highest total qbr in college football season and then jones sliding down a little bit later to make five quarterbacks in the first round in there he is the man with the mic board. It is mcshea and it's awesome. Let's start with this todd. We all understand. Trevor lawrence going number one. Nothing even to discuss. How firmly planted in. Your mind is zack. Wilson right now as the number two quarterback in this draft. I think very firmly. The first thing i do when the season is over and a govan studied the top quarterbacks. Because i know that's what we're going to talk about for the majority of this process leading up to the draft and after lawrence. There's a little bit of a gap and then at zack wilson. And then there's a gap between gods trey lance from north dakota state and justin feels from ohio state. So i think he is clearly the number two quarterback in this class. The question becomes greenie. Is that the jets taking two or the jets gonna move out and allow a team like a carolina to that number two spot to take him. And that all depends on the domino's in terms of the veteran quarterbacks right now where does shawn watson wind up carson wentz. We know is going to get moved to chicago indianapolis. I think joe douglas. The general manager is kind of waiting. And seeing some of these other quarterbacks go and he's fielding phone calls he's not aggressively making calls but fielding calls to see maybe if they can move sam darnold and if they do exactly since the pick for the jets at number two and if not as i said i think the jets will move outta to and wilson will still wind up being that number number two overall pick in this class. I grew the. I've been saying for a while. I agree with you completely. He'll be number two. The question is who winds up making the peck. Then the other part of this is. I'm old enough to remember a time when we wondered if justin fields might supplant trevor lawrence as the number one draft now all of a sudden these the fourth quarterback off the board. How did that happen. You go back. And study games against indiana northwestern. And then the college football playoff national championship game against alabama. He completed around fifty two percent of throws with five interceptions. Those games in my opinion. You look at it physically. He's big. he's sturdy strong who mobile. He's got a big arm all the traits that you look for. But he likes to see his receivers. Come open and get stuck on that. I read very frequently. So you compare him with trae. Lance and i have identical grades on the to train. Lance didn't play the level of competition. Didn't play as many games as is justin fields but i think he processes the game a little quicker in terms of going from his first into a second and third and seeing the entire field. So it won't surprise me if it feels is third quarterback off the board. But i think they're kind of bunched together in that third tier of quarterbacks behind lawrence wilson and then the other two and then i want to ask you about the guy that you currently have fifth because i'm a regular listener of the first draft podcast and so i'm listening the other day to you and field. Yates and mel kiper talking about what was going on at the senior bowl and everyone is raving about matt jones. Your buddy mel had max jones moving this thing and i believe he has him sort of. I believe he hasn't projected higher than you have in projected. What do you see for mack. Jones as this process goes on the fifth quarterback in the first round. Well i think what's going to happen. He's matt jones is going to benefit from the fact that these four quarterbacks are gonna come off the board quickly and it's probably going to be cut because of trades moving up. I have matt jones going number twelve overall right now in a i had chicago moving up to twelve in san francisco. Moving back to twenty we have to see where carson wentz go. It does go to

Urban Meyer to keep health in mind as new Jacksonville Jaguars coach

"A jacksonville is the best job opening in the nfl. right now. they've got eleven total picks in the upcoming grab first round picks one hundred million dollars in salary cap space. They have the number one pick so all unless unless someone is as a complete and utter fool. that are going to be Drafting trevor lawrence. Whether number one. Pick and trevor lawrence. It's supposed to be a generational great. Come on man come on tomorrow to mark. Among on if sean con come on man is about time you get serious if you can go ahead and get yourself but yourself in the position where hey you know what. We've got a really good thing going here. In terms of the future we covered that bear. And we've got all of this to work with you know. How many times would love to be in that position. Already mentioned the fact in the nba raphael stone in general managers. In general in that league you ask them what would you rather have in terms of rebuilding program. All of these guys who say man. I'm a multiple picks a lot of salary cap space to go ahead and do my thing. Would you get that injectable even with a hard salary cap now. Jacksonville isn't the same as far as free agent destination as a los angeles or the bigger markets. But still you're talking about. The state of florida was no income state tax. You're speaking about ill a situation where you're gonna be working with a generational great quarterback possibly. Hopefully i mean there's a lot of things you have a really really good young talent on that team that a lot because the team one and fifteen but there's there's some ambers within the within the the fire that you can That you can work with. I mean it should be very attractive job for a gm but if a gm any worth of any you know any worth is going to go in there and you're going to be talking about. Yeah i'm going to be in charge of the roster. I mean come on man you know the next bill polian next ron. Woolfe is not going to be like yes. That's pretty good and then since you already hired the couch you gotta make sure that the coach in the general manager president of football operations are together as one as far the philosophy is concerned. And we don't know where myers philosophy because well. He's never coached. He's never coached in the nfl so he might have a philosophy all this kind of stuff. What is it based off of. It can be based on what he did in college because college in the nfl completely different animals. Yeah you might have a philosophy of how you deal with people in college. What when you're dealing with people in college. They're eighteen to twenty two years old when you're going to be different of course and you know this coming central tell you. It's a lot of different dealing with grown men who have mortgages who are building their brands. Who have kids who have other responsibilities lot different way. You work with them. Sure in a college situation. You are of the defacto you are. You are the maker you are the guy you are the when i say jump you answer. How high when i say run through brick wall put your head down and go through that brick wall inc a college. You can get away with that stuff in the. Nfl is not. You're not coach. Employees i mean. This isn't supervisor employees working together. This is a collective understanding in terms of where we're going so yeah you wouldn't have any philosophy and you can have. You can try to find players that are into fit that philosophy but how rigid is that philosophy going to be. If you're urban meyer in college will you can go ahead and you can recruit anybody who you want to. You can text. You can call and you can do all these things and you can go ahead and develop a relationship over the years so you can even have a better understanding it. This young man is going to be able to fit the philosophy that you have in college. You can do that shit and the nfl you can't and the nfl is a business. And if you speaking about philosophy you better think about the philosophy. A win. Because i used to do all that bullshit about. Yeah you know. I bring these young men into the league. And you know these guys are young and some of these come from underprivileged backgrounds and these guys never have a checking account before. These guys don't know how to do this and these guys don't know how to do that so for me as a coach especially being a black coach with these kids coming into the nfl coming in basically as kids even though there are twenty one twenty two years old. I feel it's a responsibility for me to show them the ways of live and the show them how to do things the have them grow and mature of by the time that they retire that they'll be able to have a foundation for them to be successful one. Football is over

"That adam. Schefter rams packers begins divisional round. Play on saturday. We now know jared goff. We'll start donald. We'll play so marcus. The rams win if what happens if sir jalen ramsey can take devante atoms out of this game. He's been elite against number one wide receivers. But he's about the face fest one. I think that he's going to face the season. I cannot wait to see this matchup as far as the individual. I'm more excited about this. That any of the game green bay wins in the smith. Brothers smith and smith floor for jared golf and make them uncomfortable. We all know what jared goff. He'll ezio is especially with coming off the issue. If preston smith and the daria smith can create presser then minton cork in the middle of his defense but he'll be afforded but these defense vans that zone us that they can take over games. When when teams get into past the situation they have to be dominant. Divisional playoffs are brought to you by intuit turbo tax live. And what a slate of games we have you see that game. We just talked about rams packers kicking things off at four thirty five eastern followed by the ravens and bills on saturday then on sunday. It's browns chiefs followed by buck saints. The three most important paths catchers this weekend dan in keys. Listen key hit us last week. With wildcard weekends three most important gonna lead into the division run. You told me the divisional round is like the difference maker okay. So last week we had our three. We have new picks coming up. We just had the highlight video. Remember what the highlights were from. I do not my game. The moss moss highlight name. Well you know ball out in a few games. What about the first time you played in the divisional round how to bill. Jaguars thousand ninety eight. Come on down. The numbers like think had like a buck. Twenty one as kevin techs. Download the puzzle. By a reverse for touchdown in then recovered a lightweight. I recovered a fumble. Vinnie threw a pick. I recovered the bomb right there at the one and then at the end of the day margaret threw me a six pack inception three head i had one in the air one on the ground a fumble recovery and an interception the division. So i would say so for these guys that we get ready to talk about. This is their first divisional. Gang number one is highly. Brad got to catch the ball and get opened on her davis white. You you have to do those things. We saw what you did last week. Tennessee titans that needs to carry over into this week against the buffalo bills. Which is why. I like the fact that you mentioned. Tdy t white because if you watch. These teams played last year. What was they kept their safeties down. Near the line of scrimmage and they said t y you got hollywood and he shut down for the most part if baltimore is going to have their best chance to win this game. Hollywood can have to have two big plays down the field right because that's going to take those safeties a little more. Give them a little cushion. At the line of scrimmage so he's got to have a big big game against her davies white pitching kitsch right so this is his first divisional necks up would be landry. Cleveland browns baker mayfield. Okay now land got to catch the damn ball again and get on a problem for him. He's got gotta get open. He's got to run those choice. Routes those angle rob him in motion. Do many different things to get him open. When the ball comes a breaker mayfield. You got. I love the fact that you talked about the different places they put him. I mean he's the guy that really fits the mold of getting the football motion them over. And you get him in those stacks in. And then he could. Win the line of scrimmage. Sometimes it's the screen game we've seen the reverse game. You know what. I really want to see him versus the honey badger. I think they're going to match up a couple of times this past weekend both the graduate this this coming weekend both lsu grads top players that do all those little things. I agree he's going to have to have a big game. Winning in the middle of the field. For cleveland remember. This is the first opportunity. Divisional ralph because guys third. You got a dual going right here. Tampa bay you. Talk about. Mike evans earlier on lattimore. Now you think about god when in these situations on jeans they've gotta show up. Big mike evans has got to played. Beat yeah this is an opportunity to set a mark as a legacy for yourself. Come playoff time. We want to remember how you play with tom. Brady and the playoff not the regular season. The matthew question. Mike evans has not had success. Verse lattimore what would you. What would be the advice like for him. Feel like he actually can do. It would be the advice to him. Just going to keep hacking at and you can't get discouraged because you had seventy two routes and don't get discouraged. What do you like about godwin's match of this week. Thank god he can eat. He's got to be able to just run fast out the slop musician. Make sure that when they put him in position to make those plays you make them down. Because the one thing that tom brady is gonna do. It's gonna give him those opportunities. Yeah what thing. That brady knows this the playoffs and we all know how big the playoffs so big game so we need a big game. Hollywood brown especially downfield jarvis got to play physical and the two highly touted highly paid. Hopefully chris got one future receivers in tampa bay got a ball yet so it was actually the four most important past catches bremen's defensive coordinator. Wink martindale said about josh allen. Yesterday quote he knows that there is going to be pressured. That's for sure that's who we are in quote and it's a competent but plan to bring the heat to josh allen. But he's been among the best when facing the blitz this year wall teams have been able to turn those blitzes into pressures. Allen is thrown for a league high nineteen touchdowns with two interceptions. So what do you do against him. Key the ravens. What's one thing you do have to do if you're going to try to stop this goes offense performed bringing that pressure that i'm going to make sure that i take and i know it's one of those deals i'm gonna take stefan digs away. I gotta figure out gorka. I understand whatever it is if his marcus peters safety peaking if his humphry. Ns safety pika if he somehow gets on jimmy smith. And that safety pecan. I'm gonna make josh allen. Pull the ball down re cock by some time. And they've got a stick to him like glue that that is how you get two teams with dominant receivers if you just let him run wild all over the field you're gonna get in trouble. Everybody has a dominant receiver in a national football league in. Somebody has to take that dominant receiver away and we've seen it done now whether or not it can be done in buffalo remain to be seen. Listen i'm gonna put onto a great movie. It's called taken in my best. Liam neeson voice. Good luck i mean. He ain't stopping fourteen now. Three one josh. A great movie Three things that josh allen has to do first of all we heard week martindale talk about the pressure. They're not really what i call a. P p p unit a predictable pressure unit not say. They're predictor predictable pressure over three pattern. There we go. It's the pressure will come in anytime you could be. First and ten from your own thirty yards here comes zero blitz. So when you break the huddle josh allen plan for pressure every single snap. Have they plan for pressure number two. Where's dawson knox okay. He's your tight end that you guys love to move around. He's going to give you a ton of information of isn't man or is it zone what what guy is over him to give you coverage and number three five fourteen. Listen humphries great marcus. Peters is great. Jimmy smith great. No one's covered him this year in man coverage make them cover fourteen. Make them prove to you that they can cover. Fourteen is i don't think they can. I don't think over the course. I don't think anyone in the league right now can cover stefan digs. This is one of those games that you go. You know what we traded for fourteen four- at this very moment because knowing we're gonna play teams that wanna place a man coverage if they play fourteen in man coverage. He is going to have a field day this weekend. Listen there's been one team are both the you all. It's been one team. The los angeles rams stop stefan digs. He had four kids. Forty nine yours in that game. The problem was cole beasley at one hundred yards. Receiving gabriel davis at eighty one yards. And i think that spoke volumes about josh allen more than anything his ability to get away when his number one guy's gonna get away but this ravens defense to me is the best defense they will face all year and it's not because the ravens defense is better than the rams is because where we are at this juncture in the season. Look one playoff game. It's all about the preparation for the baltimore ravens to stop the buffalo bills at what they do. Best and both of you are right. You stop stefan. Digs you have a better chance to win that. Game against buffalo in la ended thirty five thirty two and we all know at the end of the game. The passing a fierce and all of that transpired. But look when you think about the baltimore ravens defense. Because we get a namur and should we should for rightfully so for josh ballot in this offense for lamar jackson in this offense this ravens defense gabe. Thirteen points to the tennessee. Titans last week everybody. Just keep that in mind. Josh allen has been phenomenal. this'll be as toughest tasks so far this season. You know what guys i think. Actually because you brought this up. The connection between dawson. Knox and josh allen really really important in fact. I had a story on that. We're going to go to the weather. I here because this is really important. Guys gametime thirty one degrees fifty percent chance of precipitation possible. snow showers. Listen key you're whistling because he didn't play very well in the snow earlier in the show. Now we're going to show what happened before you can hold onto. The ball hit win. I was winning. Can't i can't draw surveys man. Dan nine targets one catch ten yard number one pick in the draft bomb off in all honesty. I was a bus. I need these. the worst. All right lake really is hard to to feel your hands in the cold and to know all that it was it was twenty believe it was like twenty six degrees in eleven with wind. Chill factor in the balls felt like those red bricks fro. It was ridiculous. It was ridiculous. Nfl live then. I would have had a field day with that crush me so it didn't matter can get marcus stat. Of course i know it was the worst game ahead of my career from on all right anyway on that note. I think we are going to move along here. Lamar jackson has not played in a snow game before. So you never know how we got time for one more thing. And today we're going to head to. Dan orlovsky kitchen man. Y'all come at me. Through the husky family and yukon project. My word is to brutal leave loops. Little all. Burn up your. He was for charity. Dan are you okay. I'm okay listen. I had a good about neighbors to get that hot sauce. "The jaguars adam schefter. What do we know. There's no deal in place yet. Laura there is no press conference scheduled yet but both sides are in advanced. Talks to try to see if they could get this deal finalized and make urban meyer the next head coach of the jacksonville jaguars this point in time again. It is tracking that way. And i think both sides are hopeful and optimistic. It will get done. It is not yet done. Urban meyer landed today in jacksonville to meet yet again. With the jaguars owner con. He met with them yesterday as well. He met with them. Sunday or saturday on the boat in florida. And so there's been a lot of interaction a lot of meetings a lot of planning and right now just questioned whether these two sides can get this worked out on the same page and move ahead into the future. Boats planes automobiles. They're they're doing it all to get her revere their jacksonville money. Of course we will keep our eye on that but what else is going on in the coaching. Search world adam. Well we're waiting to see who the general manager for urban. Meyer would be in jacksonville. When he does get that job and a couple of names that have come up in connection to that job. Trent baulky the former forty niners. Gm reports the former browns gm. They would be in consideration as the rest of the general manager. Hires and that picture begins to come into focus right now. We have brad homes the former rams executive being hired in detroit as the lions new general manager. They've made a move with him. They've secured his services. He was somebody that they identified and move forward with going forward. Carolina is down to its final four candidates. It looks like scott fitter has emerged as the favourite to get the job. They have not yet worked out of contract. They're hoping to still do that. In atlanta terry fonteneau is the favourite to get that job. It looks like he's on track to become the next general manager of the atlanta falcons falcons can't offer in the job. Being that his team is still involved in the playoffs. The saints sign off on that which they haven't done to date. But terry fonteneau is in line to become the falcons general manager when these two sides can formalize that going forward and of course washington is still out there. They've spoken to martin mayhew spoke in the morning. We'll see what direction of washington football team decides to go. Lower adam with us for the rest of the show. Keep it locked right here for the latest news and back to the games for this weekend. A huge one for the bucks. Ari danielson get up earlier in the week. Explain yourself wisey antonio brown the most important player in this match so no one in the nfl certainly left him to place. More men coverage than the new orleans saints. No one does it better than new orleans either. Now if you look at mike evans well marshon lattimore for a stretch of games. Now has really gotten the better of him. Look at these numbers i want. We want to really zone in on the over. The last three games. Mike evans verse. Marshawn seventy two routes. When they line up against each other they throw the ball six times. Two zero catches. I mean that is that is getting shut down. So i'm not going all right. Mike this is gonna be a break. Breakout game marshawn. Great season. And then i look at george jenkins and chris godwin and that probably a toss up. Who's going to win that match up. Well who's the best guy to win in man coverage you know this. There's two ways to really win in man coverage you other the guy across from you or coaches with scheme stacks rubs and messages and picks they help you. We'll tampa doesn't do that. And so abe is going to have to line up on a play by play basis against the best man covered secondary in the nfl and win. There's no way tampa wins this game if he doesn't the last time. Ab was playing football consistent football two years ago and he saw the secondary he put fourteen on their head for book. Eighty five studies. And i think for tampa win this game. He's going to have to have a similar type of performance. He's done it and so i'm excited to see if that signing that took us by surprise to three months ago pays off in order for abc to do what you saw him in two thousand eighteen. It starts with the quarterback okay but the quarterback needs the offense align to protect him so he can get the football to abe. And so when you look at it. I know that's the easy the point to yes. Tom brady has to have a good game. That's true though. Abe can't get the ball himself. He can't do it to only person ever seen do that. Was book bernie the only one. I've seen you know that's it and when you think about it. B wants to show the world he wants to show shock the nfl. Say that. i'm back yet. Marcus when they signed a beep. I remember even on this show. We were saying the murdy. Got all these offensive weapons may maybe. This is too much. Maybe they're adding too much more. What do you think is the key in this game. I think they figured it out with a be. This offense is obviously totally different. From the first couple of meetings with a new orleans saints. But i go back to work. He was dolphins land. Listen tom brady has thrown in the two meetings between tap into all the. Tom brady has thrown five intercepts to two touchdowns total i the last thirty eight to three laws. He threw three touchdowns opposite side. Drew brees threw four touchdowns. He wrote pigs. We all know what this is about. This is about tom. Brady's report with his wide receivers which has gotten better. It's about his offensive line. Protecting we says about them against the washington football team. They did a good job outside of the run pain getting to sex in that game. That was really the only pressure that they were able to generate and we were going crazy about how bad that matchup was for the tampa. Bay buccaneers offensive. Land the run game as well. Linda for nick has become more involved. Hopefully ronald jones could be more involved when you look at the games and the way they replayed the first game the score was indicative. How close it was. It was the turnovers. That was the difference. The second game it was turnovers period. Three they had three sacks. I think they had like twelve or thirteen pressures in that game from the same defensive land that's what is going to boil down to and we can have confidence in tampa bay because over the last month. They shown us that they figured a lot of things out offensively. I just can't wait to watch it. Y'all don't come down to these young quarterbacks in which one plays the best you just hit on it and that's the point. I want to make when we talk about the game six or seven weeks ago. When they played week nine they ran play action pass with seven man or six men protection. One time in that game. It was the first play of the game. They do it. Fourteen times a game over the last six weeks. So that's why. I feel better about this offense of line playing against this really good d. line. They're going to have a six or seven person in their protection and that's why we'll say i think they'll protect them. Those guys on the outside. Abc better win if they beat us win win this game the bucks. Doing what tom brady does. Well a little more. We're getting closer and closer to the divisional round of the nfl. Playoffs are is on some crucial players dealing with injuries. Back to that game. We were just talking about adam. What's the latest with the bucks receivers or mike evans. Chris godwin both limited in practice. This week mike evans obviously still being cautious with that knee injury chris godwin dealing with a hit and quad injury and even though both have been limited still think that both will.

"On urban meyer to jacksonville story. We'll be all over it all show long to nfl. Also one person here actually says the ravens defense will be the toughest unit. Josh allen is seen all year long find out why welcome in about life keyshawn johnson. Dan orlovsky here. Marcus spears and adam schefter as well and let's get to our top story of the day as you see adam schefter already working those thumbs. Urban meyer actually seen on photo getting off a plane in jacksonville just a few as we have all eyes on the jaguars waiting to find out if mayer will be their next head coach. Let's go right to adam. Schefter adam what's the latest hear more you see urban meyer landing in jacksonville to meet with jaguars. Owners shod kong today. They are in advanced. Talks to try to finalize a deal that the sense is will get done but as in gotten done to date. This would be a huge acquisition for jacksonville. It would add to what they have for this off season. Which is the number one overall pick eleven picks in the draft the situation with one hundred million dollars over in cap space. They've got all this going on. Which makes it a highly attractive job. For urban meyer. Whose meeting with the team today. Just as he met with them yesterday and is met with them repeatedly during this process again it is trending in the way of urban meyer accepting that job. As of this moment he has not officially agreed to become the jaguars coach but as soon as he does. We will have the latest for you here on. Nfl yes we will. That moment is one that we are looking out for. So adam schefter with us all show long and let's get a little bit more about this job. You heard shefty mention not only jacksonville set to make their first number one. Pick in franchise history but therefore four picks the first and second rounds of this draft are tied with miami for the most in the league though also had that cap space that you that you just heard. Adam mentioned seventy six million dollars and maybe they can add to the defense that allowed the fifth most yards in nfl. History or pared trevor lawrence with a tight end either way. There are plenty of decisions to be made in jacksonville down. The line and here was owner. Shad khan on january fourth on who may actually have control over this roster. The general manager candidates. I've been talking of them but for the immediate future. I'm going to keep the roster control. And i want the coach that also and it's really. It's not really who's coming in but it's still really have a rhythm that everybody is aligned on. Who might be leaving the team and who might be coming him at least for the immediate future. So all of the questions. Point back to quarterback dan who do you think urban meyer. Starting quarterback is next season if he ends up being the head coach for the jacksonville jaguars. Trevor lawrence else is excited about this. I think this is gonna be incredible in jacksonville. And i hope this happens very quickly. It will be trevor lawrence that being said if you just do some digging on what urban meyer wants and a quarterback the intangible stuff he talks about competitiveness the number one asset toughness leadership. Can you raise the ability of others and then adaptability okay and then you talk about the tangible things. He wants a quick release arm. Strength and accuracy will. Trevor lawrence has all of that but he recruited justin fields. How state we just watched. Justin feel display a lot of those traits that urban meyer says these are mandatory for me to have that quarterback who's to say like ryan day doesn't call him and say. Listen what. I saw from justin fields this year when it comes to his competitiveness and his toughness and his leadership is unlike anything i've ever seen before this kid's in absolute superstar like just because we all have linked to trevor lawrence there now with urban going there. Does it become a conversation of who goes number one absolutely absolutely. It does because he could love justin fields more than he loves. Trevor lawrence the is everything is at play right now. You you point two trevor lawrence but much like you said. It's hard for me to think that a coach there was at university that recruited the quarterback for as been guy for a long time for a long time. Also put the head coach him play. That's at ohio state that they're not having communications and his eyes is seen throughout the course of two years. What feels is a quarterback. It's hard for me to think that. He's gonna pass on a guy like fields for trevor lawrence although trevor lawrence everybody's number one pick so you think he takes fields you know i. It's one of those deals. Where i look at coaches in the past. That have gone from college to the pros. Whether it's in the first round around in general they liked to have people that understand their program even though fields in play for urban. That program is still urban because they took a lot of the same principles in install them. It kept them in ohio state program. So it'll be fun to watch and see come draft time. That's for dang. Sure i will say this. Clemson the program. The trevor lawrence comes from certainly a program built around winning championships to even though you think about the talent of justin fields marcus and and what he's brought to the table even lately. It is hard to imagine for fields even to be drafted ahead of trevor lawrence. And have that on his shoulders. What do you think about all. This is waiting to see a damn thing. Trevor lawrence going. I the jacksonville. And that's been the talk since last year. That's what's going to happen. We just watched the owner talk about how much he wants to be. Involved in the roster obviously urban meyer and whatever staff he brings in and the general manager have decisions to make but the first overall pick. Don't be trouble lowest. I like the excitement that key. Dan has i like the fact that urban meyer has recruited Just feels out of college and out of high school and all of that but the bottom line is the quarterback from clemson. Going number one. If he doesn't go number one you still got to try to repair a city. That's getting ready for trevor lawrence to come to their place if you don't draft him so there's a lot of overlying issues outside of the fact look we trading talent for talent either trouble or has been the guy he hasn't done anything to knock yourself off of that pedestal just feels obviously outplayed him when they played against clemson but when they send that card in it'll be trouble lawrence's name on it. So here's the thing. When it goes back to the control of the roster meyer may say all day long that he wants justin fields for whatever reason but is he really going to have that type of control considering what we just heard shots con. Say i mean. I think this is gonna be a collaboration. I think it's different than understanding like roster control versus roster impact. I think cont want some impact on that roster. I want these type of players these type of people in our organization rather than i want that linebacker. I want that quarterback the really interesting thing because marcus makes a great point. We didn't hear these. Urban meyer rumors to jacksonville until they got to the one spot when they were sitting at the to pick for most of the season. There wasn't this conversation so again. I agree wholeheartedly. This will be trevor lawrence at the number one. I think a reason why the willing to take that job is because of the we'll see how much roster control when it comes to recruiting. He has done in jacksonville. You're going to have a. He's probably gonna have all the control he's not going to take a job he's a control guy. I want to take a job and have somebody tell him what to do. These coaches in this day and age did don't need jobs. They don't want to deal with that because he can go anywhere to do that. He wants control like he had florida utah. Ohio state and this is different. Because you need somebody who understands the pro game your pro scouting department. Can i just throw this nugget out there. I think that's a massive mistake though to bring him no. Nfl experience and go. Hey we're gonna give roster control.

"Kingsbury is getting the most kylo moore now. Kingsbury is one of the three worst coaches in the league. And i really do. That doesn't mean he won't get better. But when i watched they make basic mistakes. No i do not. They are wasting the valuable years of cuyler murray's rookie contract on a guy who should not be coaching in the national football and he never wanted texas tech. he wasn't better than tub reveal. He wasn't better than leach. He had patrick mahomes as a starting quarterback and he won nothing but his difference. Though joe i mean is that he never won in college. He was just handsome and had a crazy offense. Urban meyer has one at bowling green. He wanted utah. Want it florida. He wanted how state he has one everywhere he has but again the learning curve. He's never been in the pros and these quarterbacks he's developed have not gone on to have success in pros. You do not have a learning curve with a guy like trevor lawrence. You need to hit the ground running. You've got five years. Max before you're going to pay this guy and not going to be able to spend elsewhere on your team you have to get maximum value out of that. The cardinals are squandering. These years with tyler. Murray because kingsbury doesn't know what he's doing cuyler murray ranks twenty third in the nfl in yards per attempt which is a measure of how willingness his willingness to throw the ball down the field. You have the andrea hopkins. And he's not throwing the ball in the field. He's twenty-first and quarterback rating kingsbury in. The cardinals are ruining these years and not saying urban can't do it. I'm just saying. I'd rather take a guy with pro experience who has demonstrated the ability to develop a young quarterback the guy in buffalo brian. Cabell what he's done with josh allen. That's exactly what. I want someone to do with trevor lawrence. Well cliff kingsbury is not going to invite you to any of his future parties because if it was up to joe foresaw nice out then the arizona cardinals would need to use ziprecruiter because it is a finally a new year..

"Just did the top fifteen players of all time and ranked them in order. I'll start with the ESPN list. We'll do a little bit more on this tomorrow but first of all if you're wondering you know are there any. Washington players will the first thing when I see these lists. That are longer than ten or twenty players. I'm always looking for Elvin Hayes and for Wes unseld to see where they are on this list. You my personal feeling is that Elvin Hayes is one of the all-time Great Nba Power Forwards. And that he was probably a greater all around player than WES unseld. Even the WES unseld. Was You know hall of fame player in a phenomenal player in his own right? Don't get me wrong but I think he's had the better career. I think as is considered by most historians to be better Not by much but better. That's the way I see it at any time. And I've had this argument before and I think he always goes west at of a head of a head of Elvin Hayes And I'm talking about in Washington. You know Earl the Pearl Monroe and and and you know Gus Johnson et CETERA. Those are Baltimore. Bullets Not Washington bullets. So I go with the bullets. Since they've been Washington so on this list of seventy four players a man. This is a heartless to put together like even at the bottom of the list. You're talking about all time greats. Like the number seventy four all time. Nba Player is Artis Gilmore. The A train. I mean he was a great NBA player a great NBA player. You know a guy like Bob Lanier one of the all-time great centers is seventy one on this list. Bernard King Sixty Ninth Best Player fault. Saint Time I mean Bernard King was a ridiculous score Pete Muravich is sixty eight. This will make Tommy go crazy when I tell him this if he hasn't seen it already sixty eighth on the all-time list is Pete Muravich By the way Earl Monroe was sixty fourth on the list. Lonzo Morning Georgetown. Sixty third on the list. So I Willis Reed Tommy's all time favourite sixtieth on the list. Tommy will be apoplectic about that. Because I think he believes Willis reads a top ten player of all time. He's upper sixty on this list So number fifty on the list is wes. Unseld and number forty four on this list is Elvin Hayes. So Elvin Hayes is six spots ahead of WES UNSELD on this list. Elvin Hayes was a great player. The biggest problem with the biggie is. He didn't play his best in the biggest games that he played in he was not very good in the nineteen seventy five. Nba Finals against Golden State. He really wasn't very good. Nineteen seventy eight championship season. That they won. He was in foul trouble in game. Seven Seattle. He was on the bench when the game ended. You know now in seventy nine when they defended their title he had some of the best games he had had his entire career. As you know in the post season But he was just a scoring machine. He he's endurance. Level was all time never missed a game. He played a ridiculous number of minutes in every game he played in. He barely sat. He's an all time great. So as UNSELD Ahead of him by the way Russell Westward comes in forty second on this list but anyway The debate really starts when you get into like the top fifteen and you know. They're couple of guys outside the top fifteen. I mean I know Tommy would consider you know Willis Reed to be you. Know Worthy of top fifteen discussion Just outside the top fifteen guys that you know some of you might make case for Dirk came. In at Nineteenth Moses Malone came in at eighteenth Karl Malone at Seventeen in Jerry West at sixteen you could easily make the case for any of them to put him somewhere inside the top. Fifteen at fifteen was doctor Jay. Now I've always said and I've been mocked for it and that's fine that I think Dr J. is an all time great. Don't get me wrong. But in the conversation of the greatest when people put him into that conversation with bird and with magic and a Jordan you know before the Kobe Brian you know era these would be some of the conversations. I would say not. He's not in that group. He's not in that group he's an all time highlight reel player. You Know He. He's a great player. A clearly Dr J. was it'd be insane not to say that but I think in my on my list and I've always said this he's outside the top ten and he might be outside the top fifteen and I didn't try to act like Julius Irving wasn't you know top fifteen top twenty player of all time I just always had him on the backside of that countdown and on this list. Julius Irving is number fifteen you know and I guarantee you there. There will be some people that will have a problem with that that think. Dr J. should be higher up on this list. Here's his in front of him. Kevin Durant comes in at fourteen and Steph curry comes in at thirteen. So will be a debate. Among many you know curry versus durant. Curry's one spot ahead of them. I think that's fine for right now. Now durant still has. An curry still has time to continue to move up this list. Twelve on this list is his Hakeem Malaysia one. He's the guy that for me. In the same way Tommy thinks will read is always criminally underrated. I always feel that. Allies Yuan is underrated and doesn't get his. Do you know in the greatest centers of all time conversation. I put him right there after will and and recycle and Kareem. You know to me. He's right thereafter that now there are other centers in front of him like Shaquille. O'neal you know on this list. Oscar Robertson by the way was eleventh. And then you get to ten and that's where shack is. I think Elijah One's a greater player was a better player than shack. I would have him ahead of Shack. you know that's me at number nine is Coby Coby. Bryant definitely a top ten player and by the way the other titles he won. You know without moves him in front of Shack. I have no problem with him. Being at number nine Tim Duncan's eight and this is where you know again. A Guy I think allies one should be in front shack I think allies should be in front of Duncan Dunkin's one of the great winners of all time. Allies won two titles. Let's not forget that but Dunkin comes in at eight and then get into the conversation. I think that pretty much in recent years people have narrowed the list down. Try to get to some sort of Mount Rushmore at seven. Is Larry Bird? Right at seven. Is Larry Bird at six is will five is magic? Four is Russell Threes Kareem to is Lebron and one is Michael so I think that's the the the list you know. I think after bird seven I mean some of you may want coby on that list. Some of you may. When Duncan some I personally I think allies one could be in that you know in that truly elite group. But I think that you know when people talk about all right. Who's on Mount Rushmore NBA? All-time the list comes from the top. Seven like I think they got the top seven right. You know. Bird wilt magic. I think magic personally. I'd put magic ahead of you know probably Russell and Kareem Lebron to me magic would be number two after Michael I think Lebron's too high But you know this gets into that argument and I have it with my kids all the time I mean they think Lebron's the greatest player of all time and they don't they don't want to hear anything differently you know and they. They always point to the fact that Lebron leaves Cleveland and they're the worst team in the league the next year they're like. When did that ever happen? You know Michael Jordan left for those two years in the next year they won fifty five games without him and it's a good point. You Know Lebron every time. He left team. That team went basically went. Went to near the bottom of the standings. It's amazing what. Lebron did with certain teams like that team that he took to the NBA Finals against Golden State. That lost six with della Vedova in Amman. Shumpert in Timothy Mas. Goff I mean what a performance he put on put on an all time performance to carry that team to the NBA Finals. And be in it. They lost in six. I mean I I've come around on Lebron. You know being on a list like this. I'm not a Lebron fan a Mutt but and I am a a magic guy. I've always been a magic. I and I think magic and Michael in terms of the non center's are one and then two. I'd probably put Magic to behind Michael. You know it's close really close. And then you get into in the non center discussion for me. You get into Lebron but Larry Koby you know if you WANNA put Oscar on that list you know in terms of the non center's you put the centers into this conversation all time. Which is what they've done. You know ranking. The centers is tough. Because you know. Most people will look at Russell and say Great Defensive Center the greatest winner of all time. They'll look at Wilton. Say No greater player in terms of the gifts that he had the talented. He add the the numbers that he put up. You know cream. It's a combination of winning and the numbers. Then you get into allies yuan in and shack in Dunkin. I mean winners all of them. Numbers all of them But for whatever reason they're always sort of ranked is a little bit below Wilton Kareem in Russell Oh my my biggest gripe is we you know in the top fifteen is. I would have allies. You want a little bit higher. I'd have magic a little bit higher. I'd probably have Lebron a little bit lower. I probably have magic in front of Lebron for right now are I. I'm still leaving out. The possibility Lebron could move in front I think it's really hard with the centers in in the other players but I don't have a problem with Russell and Kareem being where they are. You know I'd probably move magic to to till four behind the two centres. He'd be number two in the non center conversation. But I I I love these lists this time of year And the CBS sports DOT COM top. Fifteen they had Jerry West fifteen. Dr J. Fourteen Curry at Thirteen Oscar twelve. Elijah wanted eleven. So one spot higher than they had koby at ten Dunkin at nine bird at eight shack at seven you know shack going on to win With weighed in Miami Is a you know a feather in his cap you know he got that done without. Koby there. Wilt comes in six magics five on this list to Russell Kareem Lebron and Jordan. So they had the exact same top five that Espn had actually. Did they have the same top? Six was wilt six on this list. Yeah the exact same Top six on this list. They had shack ahead of bird Anyway conversation for tomorrow I would think If Tommy wants to weigh in on that and I would guess That he Will want to do that. last thing before we run it's the whole baseball economics about returning the story Last night is that baseball. Basically held a call yesterday. Conference call yesterday Between owners and Players Association and the actual economics of of a return were not even discussed which is strange. You know what was discussed. Were a lot of the covy nineteen protocols including things like contact tracing and how they'll handle a positive test which by the way.

Russell Kareem Lebron NBA Willis Reed Tommy Elvin Hayes Michael Jordan WES unseld Kareem Lebron Dr J. Fourteen Curry Washington Wilton Kareem Lebron Duncan Dunkin Earl Monroe Espn Elijah One Larry Koby Dr J. Tim Duncan Oscar Robertson

"With these last two games? I know it does I do the that. That line is down to to a point and a half in most spots cowboys favored by point half. I do have a feeling that by the time we get gametime Aaron. There's going to be much more action in the cowboys. The Eagles which will probably get me into a position raw. Consider playing the eagles but on paper just analyzing the game. The Eagles aren't very good and the cowboys. Potential is very good I just see the cowboys winning this game and winning the division. And then you know what as they you may not be Dak Prescott S- injury could have a lot to do with this. I mean I I if he doesn't if he doesn't play then obviously they're in deep trouble if he plays as an he's compromised you know they could be in deep trouble because he's going to have to throw the football against Philadelphia. Philadelphia does not give a lot on the ground. Even though the the cowboys elbows can run the football the Monday night games the other big game of the week packers Vikings We'll have time to talk about that on Monday. I do like the Vikings in that game. I think they're I think kirk cousins GonNa break this Monday night streak there up to a five and a half point favorites started. The week is a four point favored. Erin they're up to five and a half and delvin cooks out Dalvin cooks not playing in that game in the line is gone up in the game. I think there's a lot I think vegas doesn't like Green Bay. Yeah I don't think it's that they love Minnesota. I think they're not in love with Green Bay. Remember you know the packers last week at home were only a four point favorite over over the bears. Right that's right so the Vegas not a big fan of the packers This season All right let's finish up the The show with a skins score and prediction Scott Scorn. More time to settle. The score is sore and more. I.

"NFL the biggest blaze and look. Let's let's talk about got some of these games from yesterday. First of all Dallas destroyed the rams yesterday forty four to twenty one. There are a couple of interesting things from that game yesterday. Erin number for one was did you see the confusion over the coin. Toss yesterday in that game. So for those that missed Dak Prescott was one of the captains went out the cowboys won the toss and Prescott. Said we'll kick. It will kicking. It is a decision. It's not deferring the decision to the second half and so Anderson the referee essentially said you WANNA kick it giving them another chance and then he said something that Anderson had referee thought was yes we want to kick it which means that they kick it off to open the game and then the rams this would have their choice to receive it or kick it in the second half so they went to the Review Al River on New York. They went to review of the sound from the coin toss and they heard Dak Process Prescott apparently upon further review given a chance to clarify his position. Say that he defers. Yes so even though it looked throughout the first half that the rams were going to get the ball to start the game and to start the third quarter they fixed it and they came out in the second half and the cowboys got the ball. None of it really mattered. Because the cowboys destroyed the rams they rushed for two hundred sixty three yards. Elliot had a buck seventeen touchdowns Tony Pollard. The rookie had one hundred thirty one yards. And a late game touchdown as well The cowboys defensively totally shut down L.. A. Through the competitive portion of the game and they want going away forty four to twenty one and they go to Philadelphia via for a Sunday afternoon. You know right before the holiday this time of year you get these big games in this next last week of the season and they're gonNA play the Eagles first place in the NFC. Sunday at the link in Philadelphia. The cowboys are two and a half point favorites over the eagles and their two and a half point favorites for this very simple reason. They're the better better team the better team. They're very capable. Sean Lee was on monster yesterday. Monster and they don't even have banned address right now They're very capable. They're poorly coached. We know that But they're very capable and I think at home in a wild card weekend we can game in Dallas Against San Francisco or Seattle a five seed. You know one of those two is likely to be the five seed Minnesota Soda could still be the five seed but more likely than not it would be the division runner up in the NFC west is going to travel to Dallas. And I could see the cowboys giving that team very difficult time at home. They beat Seattle last year in the post season. Yeah that's one that I'm looking more and more we're at we always. I shouldn't say always but it does seem kind of often that we get these crappy division winners we go. Why are they always you know? Why are they? Let in this is ridiculous and they just go out and win the most notable of course being that Seattle nineteen but So I've been looking at that more and more and no it wouldn't shock me thousands of winning the game. Well here's the thing you get teams that limp into the postseason. That aren't very good when you watch them. You know that. Even their best isn't good enough and the thing that you have to recognize about the cowboys is their best is good enough. If they play their best they're capable of making a run in the postseason. Zeke Elliott is a monster. I love watching this dude run. He breaks more tackles and has more yards after. Contact the line of scrimmage. He's a pleasure to watch play anyway. The cowboys destroyed the rams and that sets up the game game with the Eagles on Sunday. Cowboys are the better team. That's why they're favored on the road. Utah Cowboys being a two. And a half point favorite on the road means they would be an eight and a half point point favorite at that game. We're in Dallas this Sunday remember. They destroyed the eagles. Haven't they won. They've won a bunch of games in a row now against eagles right. They won earlier this year. They founded the eagles in that Sunday. Night game thirty seven to ten last year. I remember Sunday night. They won in Philadelphia. That's what sparked their whole run last year Yeah okay. So they. To Anno- last year they won the second game they did lose the first game in two thousand seventeen okay so four straight. They've won four straight over the eagles this year. That game at the end of two thousand seventeen nothing with the backup players with the eagles six six nothing eagles but the two games last year were big games in two thousand eighteen team. It was the game on the Sunday night that really propelled Dallas to like four or five six game win streak whatever that turned out to be the turn their season around at three and five. I think the cowboys how we were three and five the break last year at the midway point last year so anyway that's you know. And here's what guarantees guarantees is that the NFC east winner is going to be at least eight. You know potentially nine and seven because the eagles finished with the giants and the Redskins and the cowboys finished with the redskins now the cowboys Albouy win on Sunday against the Eagles that clinches the division because they would own the head to head tiebreaker breaker. So even if they lost to the redskins in the season finale would not matter now if the Eagles win the game on Sunday they ah I believe still need the cowboys. They would still need to beat the giants because if they lost to the giants and the cowboys all boys won the cowboys would end up having a better division record so follow that one more time Dallas Winds Sunday. It's over because they sweep the eagles. The Eagles Win Sunday. They have to beat the giants in the season. Finale to get to nine and seven or the cowboys could still win. The division by beating the redskins skin and having the giants beat the Eagles in that game for Philadelphia. is the in the meadowlands to end the season at New York. A team that they barely beat on Monday night a week ago I liked Dallas to win the game. That's Mike early. Hunch we'll I I've not seen what kind of action there or is but I just think they're the better football team so the Sunday night game last night was buffalo beating Pittsburgh to clinch a playoff offspring. The bills are in. The playoffs. Are Ten and four in Sean McDermott. What a season? The bills have tended four Josh Allen to me. I don't care about his numbers. He is a baller he he makes plays when they need. Plays Devon Single Terry. We've talked about him last year. The draft it's got a hold onto the ball but he's a dangerous running back but their their their strength is their defense defenseman. Tremaine Edmonds Davis White Jordan fillup shack loss and Trent Murphy continues to play well. Lorenzo Alexander under continues to play. Well I've been MICA hide fan from the days of Green Bay these arguments with Cooley about Mike Hide. I'm like he's just a player man. He's always around the boys. Eighth to slow can't run whatever player Buffalo's defense legit real legit Pittsburgh's still alive for that last wildcard carts spot despite the loss. We're Devon Hodges Dell and duck. Hodges look terrible four interceptions took sacks. Couldn't I mean they were lucky to be close in watching that game. Buffalo just looked like the better team to me in that game last night. Buffalo's got the Patriots this coming week on that Saturday tripleheader mark. What a Saturday tripleheader? EVERY GAME SCOTT PLAYOFF STAKES HOUSTON AT TAMPA. Houston's got to win. Tampa is very difficult to deal with right now. Then Buffalo New England and a game in which buffalo can still win the division. They went to and the Patriots lose to. Yes and then the Saturday night game is rams at Niners niners you know trying win the division try and still get the one seed the rams an outside shot they would have to win their final. Two in the Vikings would have to lose their final outside to get a wild card birth. Really good Saturday tripleheader on the NFL. Network I had completely forgotten about the games too. Yeah the Saturday tripleheader really the Looks like a good one Elsewhere yesterday the Texans and the Titans in one of the biggest games of the day. I had the Texans in the smell test even although I liked the titans but the public was backing titans. I took the Texans. They won the game twenty four to twenty one. They had a lead. They seem to be in control. You knew I really like is back Carlo side. You know he's a good back. Both of these teams. I think are capable in difficult outs. Now maybe not against Baltimore but I like both of these teams you know cooling. Never liked bill. O'Brien I don't think he gets nearly enough credit. I like Rachel a lot more. I loved to Shawn Watson. They got a court. Remember all the years when Houston was making the playoffs without a quarterback and then got quarterback into Shawn. Watson Hopkins is a beast. Fuller's good stills has come in in played really well for them the Texans get to nine and five titans are still alive for both the Texans play at Tampa not an easy a game. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if that games like pick him. I haven't even looked at that line. What do you think that line is right now Erin Houston at Tampa Saturday? I think especially with Evans and Godwin out. I'm going to say Houston's a slight favourite one and a half Evans's out Evans is out and God when when it does seem like he's likely to be out next Houston's a one and a half point favorite now that there you go one and a half point favorite at Tampa I. New England's is six and a half point favorite at at home Saturday against Buffalo and the forty niners or six and a half over the rams. I actually thought that would have been a little bit higher. I bet the rams look like a play to me on Saturday night. So the Texans win that first Tennessee still alive but Tennessee is New Orleans. This weekend in Houston has the game against Tampa. uh-huh not easy games at all the the craziest ending to a game with the San Francisco Atlanta Game San Francisco screwing Atlanta. Think about this. The forty niners played a forty eight to forty six game a week ago in New Orleans to really good supposed defensive teams right now. They're playing Atlanta. Not a good defensive team in its thirteen to ten early in the fourth quarter San Francisco Thirteen to ten now. This stretch of schedule The forty the niners have had going Green Bay Baltimore New Orleans had to take something out of him going into this game. I've mentioned that the Falcons we're going to be a difficult team to deal with the rest of the way they're just too capable offensively and they've really shown it in the fourth quarter It's back and forth. The forty niners kick a field goal to got twenty two thousand seventeen with about a minute and fifty left. And then felt the Falcons with Matt Ryan leading the way. Go on a long drive. They're down at the goal line. There's a pass has to Julio Jones at the goal line which is going to be the final play of the game he he's ruled you know he's ruled short of the goal line replay overturns. It gives them the touchdown they put two seconds back on the clock twenty three twenty two Atlanta now at the lead very. Interestingly and I would not have done this just a little bit of strategically here so Dan Quinn with two seconds to go up. Twenty three to twenty two. The move there. is you go to to try to make it a three point lead. He put his two point conversion team out there and took a knee did not want to run a play now. The risk is you throw a pick you get hit fumble. They recover it and return it for for two point score. But that's a one in five hundred play. I don't know what it is one in one hundred fifty one hundred..

"He had a third short throw on their first drive of the second half to ward words wide open and just misses him. Misses him low. It's incomplete they had to punt. That should have been conversion. I looked this up earlier on the radio. Show the Eagles in two games against the REDSKINS. Eleven for seventeen in the opener. Eleven for sixteen yesterday. Twenty two of thirty three the third down. That's pretty hard like I love to know if somebody keeps stats stats on the best third-down number all time in two games in one season twenty two of thirty three sixty six percent okay. That's ridiculous. The redskins were terrible on third down there back to last in third down defense after yesterday. Forty eight percent tied with Houston for thirty second in the NFL. I'm it's just not good enough. Their run defense wasn't good enough yesterday. They got drawed to death yesterday lot of draws on third Jordan long including the fifty six yard backbreaker by Sanders on third and eleven that led to the score that gave Philadelphia Twenty four twenty one lead in the fourth quarter. I I mean they ran another one Earlier in the game I think was Scott on like third and nine. We picked up the first down easily. They looked at nickel and they said we can draw these guys. In one of the reasons they can is. Montana's sweats terrible. I'm not saying that he's terrible for good. This was the guy I loved. I don't get it. I have not seen the same guy I I watched it. Mississippi state a guy with a burst agai with legit edge speed a guy with a relentless motor I mean relentless. This guy gets stuck on blocks. His reaction time. Two screens was poor. There's not a lot of urgency to his game now. He's a first year player. And we've Seen Ryan Anderson Ryan Anderson didn't look very good his rookie year then looked good last year. You Know Montas Sweat. Though I thought was particularly bad yesterday. As was Josh Norman who came in for like all of six or seven snaps after Coleman got her. They didn't intend on playing Josh Norman but they had so many injuries that He had to go into the game. He didn't appear interested in being in the game. Either and he became a target for the eagles including the game winner to award a Monte Nicholson's late hit on earth was just a stupid penalty. I tweeted out that if you're a real coach you pull them from that game at that point maybe not for the whole game here. Not a lot of you had a problem with me. tweeting that and it wasn't that it was a vicious. You know hit it was just so late in so obvious that he was doing it intentionally and just as stupid like the ball has sailed over his head and it's like a second half later here comes. Nicholson for a little sideways. Oh I'd ways you know big hit on on on defenseless receiver. Of course it was GONNA get flagged it was stupid instead of having third and Super Long. It's first and and ten the touchdown passes that they threw in the goal to go situations. My God how do you leave. Erz Wide Open as he got in some of those situations -Tuation especially the one in the in the second half when they had four defenders on three receivers in Erz is the guy he's the guy you gotta check and you couldn't cover him. It didn't make any sense at all. They really struggled in the in the red zone defensively. They struggled defensively the all day long. Lastly on the things that I didn't like list was Callahan's clock management He just doesn't know how to do it. I we do this so so much that I think it gets tiresome for some of you but for those of you wondering He went to the locker room at the end of the game with time out in his back pocket okay. That's that's inexcusable. They had multiple opportunities to use those timeouts on defense to give them a lot more time when they got the ball. Back offense he'd have to really have like an unbelievable explanation for it like I don't know I had lead somebody else. Has that responsibility. I don't know how to do it and I left it up to Kevin O'CONNELL an O'CONNELL was over there talking to Duane about the next drive and forgot have to do it i. I don't even know what the answer would be. It's terrible though you had to use it on defense. They should have had a minimum of thirty five seconds. Left thirty five more seconds in addition to the eight th. They should've had fifty three seconds left when they got the ball back first and ten from their own thirty one with at least one time out left with one time or they could have had more than that with no timeouts left. He just doesn't know how to do it. Jay Gruden didn't know how to do. It doesn't know how to do it. Nobody in the organization nation appears to know how to do it. They're not alone in the league That's for sure but what it did is it made. It made it so that they had the ball from their own. Thirty one with eighteen seconds left to timeouts instead of say fifty three seconds left one time out that would have been a better situation needing touchdown down thirty one. Twenty any seven I certainly would have thought about using that last time out before the final snap you WanNa get a hail. Mary off. Haskins has the arm. Let them throw one into the end zone here comes Philadelphia with some blitz pressure and you And the Redskins And he got sacked through backwards and it got returned for touchdown. How about calling your last time out there rather than taking it into the locker room with you to make sure everything's blocked up? I missed something actually from the things that I liked list I was just thinking. It just reminded me when I mention Kevin O'CONNELL's named Kevin O'CONNELL called a really good game on yesterday. Maybe his best game as a play caller first of all we talked about on on Friday with the key to beating Philadelphia was offensively and I said they have to throw the football this week. You can't run it against Philadelphia. GotTa throw it. You got to be aggressive in. This should be the game that Dwayne has a chance to just sit back there and throw the football so they did it but they did it on early down distance situations and it was successful. And then Philadelphia's started to bring more into the box and start to blitz the early down situations and Kevin O'CONNELL hits them with a few screens. He really had a feel feel for the game yesterday. He did an excellent excellent job couple of final observations. From the game yesterday the Ryan Anderson roughing the passer and Carson Carson Wentz was terrible call. It wasn't late and it wasn't low. It was perfection they hit was and then one other observation so the end of the first half. Why didn't Doug Peterson? Decline a holding penalty against the redskins. Doug Peterson does some things. Every once in a while. He's is a super bowl winning coach. You know he's he's you know very bright and very innovative There are things he'll do every once in a while where I'm like. No that's not the right thing to do. The redskins had he called time out when the redskins had the ball the end of the first half from their own nine yard line after six yard game. He wants to get the ball back. He's aggressive recive. I don't have a problem with that. It was after a second and four incompletion. We're there was a holding penalty called on West Martin who I thought Just as an aside played really well for Brandon Sheriff and it's third and four from their own fifteen. He declines the holding penalty. He he chose third and four over second and fourteen and even at that point. Maybe it's half half the distance. Maybe it's second twelve second eleven. You don't decline that penalty E- very I mean especially considering the Redskins had been moving the football third and four. They declined the penalty. Haskins Hits Thompson on the screen. I down and the redskins are often moving. Get anything out of that drive. They certainly could have but that was.

"Cooley on the call yesterday on Redskins radio. Greg Ward was the quarterback if you recall at the University of Houston now Catching balls in the NFL. Seven of them for sixty one yards including the go ahead and ultimately turned out to be the game winning touchdown against the Redskins who really hit it perfectly yesterday. If you're a fan of this team they played well. The young guys got confidence. The rookie quarterback made a lot of progress. Had the best game of the year for him but they didn't lose any ground in the draft order right now remaining meaning right there in the number four position the bengals at one giants to two dolphins at three redskins at four Erin. That's the current draft order for twenty twenty twenty however this coming week while many teams will be battling it out to be able to play in January. The bengals will face the dolphins and the redskins will play with face the giants with April in mind the losers benefit the winners do not in a draft. That more likely the nut. We'll see JOE borough go one overall in chase young then in the running with anybody who is at number two even though chase young said Saturday At the heisman ceremony Ramona that he might go back to Ohio state. I would doubt that that would happen but anyway. Good date all of you. It's Erin and I today And Ben Standing will join us A little bit later later on in the show it was actually a good football game. The redskins eagles game was an entertaining. Football game you know it's back and forth worth it's you know basically nobody having a more than a four or a three point lead until the final. Play the game Aaron. What'd you make of? That bad beat denied. You'LL BR Adam fumble return everybody in the press box as soon as it happened at Susan's running down. The field was were saying some form of God the spread. Yeah it was the spread. I told you Friday I thought the line would go higher and it went much higher from four four and a half all the way to six and a half at game time. There is a lot of short money. Liane Philadelphia I think they looked at the match and thought it wasn't the best of matchups for the Redskins. There the Redskins were you know they were battling the best offensive day of the year for them since the opener against Philadelphia having a chance to win the game Up Twenty seven twenty four with the eagles driving late Getting that go ahead touchdown with twenty six seconds to go in the game and then Still covering it plus four at thirty one. Twenty seven on the final play the game Haskins skains throws it backwards. As he was getting sacked and Nigel Bradley picks it up and rumbles nearly fifty yards for what turned out to be a Philadelphia cover. Cover thirty seven to twenty seven. It wasn't the worst beat of the day. The worst of the day came in Santa Clara at the end of the forty nine or Falcon game which we will get to allay a little bit later on when we go around the NFL but the Redskins are three and eleven all right the eagles seven seven and and very much alive now with the showdown game in the NFC. The worst division and football this year will produce a huge game in the penultimate week of the twenty nine thousand nine season and next Sunday afternoon. Four twenty five the big game on Fox. It's Dallas Philadelphia if Dallas wins. They clinched the NFC East if Philadelphia wins as they would still need to win the season Finale or have Dallas lose their season finale to Washington But the eagles and the cowboys with a big one at the the links Sunday to pretty much decide the NFC east and interestingly the line came out Philadelphia minus two and a half. The cowboys are now two and a half point favorites. And I think it's real simple. The cowboys are just flat out a better team with much more potential they destroyed the rams that was was a smell test. Pick this weekend Smell test three and two Two consecutive winning weekends with the smell test back to five hundred now on the year and and I I just I. The cowboys went off as a pick. Them you know I I had him here. Friday at plus one and a half. That game was never in doubt. There was some controversy over the coin. Flip we'll get to that that when we go around the NFL a little bit later on but That's the game next Sunday. You know there are several games next Sunday and Monday night and Saturday there. There's a tripleheader Saturday. Saturday which actually includes Tampa Houston and a big game for the Texans. Tamp is on fire. They're seven and seven Jameis Winston threw for four touchdowns and four hundred and fifty fifty yards the dude's GonNa throw for well over five thousand this year Then you have. The middle of the day on. Saturdays is bills at patriots. The Bills Dell's clinched a playoff spot last night but they could still win the division by beating the Patriots winning their finale and having the Patriots lose their finale which they won't don't more likely than not against the dolphins But the bills are really good. Defensive Team they clinched a playoff spot by beating the steelers on Sunday night football. You got the the The Saturday night game which is forty niners rams in after the forty niners lost yesterday there now basically in second place behind Seattle that game looming is the season finale in Seattle between the forty niners and the seahawks But the rams have to win to remain alive if they lose that game the vikings clinch even before their Monday night game against the packers which will keep them alive for the division. The way the Vikings win the division is to win two. And have the packers lose to. But you've got meaningful football going on next weekend and then with the bad teams. It's it's strange but your top four draft draft position teams right now. They play each other Cincinnati Miami redskins giants. And it's a IT'S A it's a stakes game. If you're thinking thinking about chase young number two you know if if the bengals end up with the number one pick which is more likely than not and take joe borough then chase young. We'll be as highly of a is highly valued as probably one of the best evaluations on a pass. Rusher in the drafting years in to finish number two and have have a chance to take him or potentially turn it into a slew of additional picks. If you wanted to package it up and move down It's going to be very valuable there so redskins giants giants Big bengals dolphins. Big On Sunday Again I think if you're a redskin fan and not involved served as a player or a coach or you know a relative of somebody who's playing for their job In your just fan. It worked out beautifully yesterday. They got confidence confidence. They played well and they lost That's hard for some of you to understand and I don't I don't at all have any issues with those of you. Who just want him to win but just remember very little in the? NFL carries over year to year anymore. Barely carries over week to week. You know a win over the giants. this coming Sunday. Sunday isn't going to be relied upon next year for standings or playoff scenarios. It's not going to lead to anything great next year. When you're facing the Falcons or the browns in week six you know of the regular season? Nobody's thinking back to the giants game in week. Sixteen at Twenty nineteen in saying. Hey if we hadn't won that game we wouldn't be where we are and it doesn't work like that in the NFL anymore. There's too much change year to year But anyway when Sunday We'll be interesting at Fedex field yesterday mostly Philadelphia Fans from from what I've been told. Maybe the biggest crowd one of the bigger bigger crowds of the year since the Dallas Alice game anyway but mostly Philadelphia Fans you could hear on. TV Here's another thing just to consider. And that is this that the redskins under Bill Callahan have gone three and six but the six losses were all games in which with the exception of the jet that game they were sort of in they certainly were in the game yesterday. You could argue. They were in the game down seventeen to nine in the fourth quarter last week against the packers. It was the same score. You're in Buffalo. You know a month and a half ago they were down six nothing with the ball in the fourth quarter in the rain against the forty niners. But you do have to wonder under What Kind of credit bill. Callahan is earning right now from the owner And Callahan's biggest supporter. Bruce Bruce Allen. Is He earning credit for this right now with the owner as well you know his Dan Snyder sitting there yesterday watching this team and saying to himself. You know what maybe Bruce was right right. Maybe we are closer than we than I think. Maybe we do have a damn good culture. There's so much wrapped up into this closing of this. I just dreadful season That it's dripping with With potential Both ways a negative potential and positive potential yesterday at the game urban. Meyer is there We broke the news on the team nine eighty yesterday that he was in the owner's box very early in the morning and then he was sitting in the owner's box. Now Terry maclaurin born the receiver said that he's the one that invited urban Meyer to the game. Meyer was in Philadelphia the day before for the Army Navy game So we drove down to see his former wide receiver. Terry maclaurin is former quarterback Dwayne Haskins and his former quarterback Alex Smith who was his quarterback at Utah when Urban Meyer was the coach. There I personally would not read too much into Urban Meyer being at the game yesterday some of you might many of you will hope you will pray. You will dream about about Urban Meyer coming in here next year and taking over. I doubt that he does. I think he would have better options if he wants to coach. And you know the for anybody. The hiring urban minor Meyer. You've got also consider just the burn out factor with him. I mean look at his last two gigs. Quick burn out you know and it'll be interesting to see if he really does want to coach but anyway Yesterday the thing that was more obvious then anything else because nothing was obvious about urban. Meyer being there trust me on that. Um It's not a lock that that was a snyder situation that he's in the running for for the job that he makes considering the job that Alex Smith in an urban Meyer GonNa make the pairing in Washington next year. I would not bet on that The thing that was is obvious yesterday was Dwayne. Haskins played his best game as a pro by far. It wasn't even close. I'm happy for him. He continues to prove in my. I mind anyway that all of the incredible negative angst and apprehension and anxiety over him playing playing earlier in the year of just was not warranted. It just he's not that Kinda guy that you need to get wrapped up in as to whether or not you can damage his psyche. That's not who he is. You know what he is is he is a bad ass competitive dude with some simultaneous poise. I don't know if he's the real deal or not. I still probably wouldn't bet on it but all of the things that I pointed out over the last month month and a half whatever it's been These these are all the reasons to be encouraged not to mention. He's got legitimate talent. You know he's big he's strong. He's got armed talent you know. He's progressing it in. Terms of pre snap is awareness of. What's going on? He played his best game With that let's get to the game take.

"With number one ring to LSU taking on four th ranked Oklahoma in the second rang. Ohio state buckeyes taking on the defending champion Clemson Tigers on that note we welcome in our friend Meek One and only Paul Paul finebaum summit man boxers around here also always ready to go. I'll take money Adler other. For what a hundred and fifty million this I was sleeping in Max and the blasphemy it teddy atmosphere. y'All should not be asked at the age of forty two to get in the ring with that monster. I agree with that. He won't so what I'm trying to say that he won't he will as he wouldn't have to say. Let me finish my thought. I'd say that he won't as has if he would run from someone. I get back in here so of those who they're speaking speaking of Paul speaking of hearing things we'll get into the college football playoff in just a minute. What am I hearing about? Urban Meyer to the Dallas Cowboys Albouy Jerry Jones and his by daily interview yesterday said that He could not confirm that. The cowboys had not talked to Jerry. Jerry Jones. The the rumors been out there for weeks. It started when Jerry Jones said that he would be honored to be considered to work for the cowboys. You said that the Yang Ming Ma So a reminder Jerry Jones to and I think it's one of the most hilarious thing I've ever heard the idea of urban Meyer who who is a perfectionist. Who's just a freak about everything being in control working in the same operation as Jerry Jones? I would love to see it because the marriage would not make it to the first game right right on the nose went he. Could we do a good job. Paul with the cowboys do you think he could do. The Patriots Urban Meyer. One eighty seven thirty to Korean win. A percentage eighty three and nine at Ohio state ninety percent winning percentage. And you're trying to tell me he couldn't go to Dallas now and do a good job and by the wait. Let's give credit with Chris. Do I know that the network Urban Meyer was sitting down with Colin cowherd formerly of ESPN news now Fox. Let's give credit with creditors talking to but you can do it. Mike do Stephen I think out. So you know besides Sagan Sabin. He's the best coach of this era. I mean he's unbelievable but that doesn't mean he could coexist remember last year going back to the Zack's he he could not handle the the idea of being suspended for three games. The president warned him fired. He went crazy ultimately They pushed him out. I think he said he quit because of health. Reasons doesn't make any difference difference but the idea that that urban Meyer could sit there and listen to Jerry Jones. After a preseason game give media interviews I think he would send on him over the edge and listen. I don't know what his health situation is but it seems like he has used it several times when he has quit. I think this is one of the most interesting college football playoffs offs in terms of. You haven't been that many really but in terms of coaching stories. Like when you look at who all is involved without Sabin but that elevates to to me. What's on the line for Dabo? He can take over his number one Lincoln Riley. Hey but you haven't won anything yet. And guys like musing. He should be the next coach of the cowboys. New Guy at Ohio Ohio state coach. Finally maybe getting the credit. He deserves of all these guys. Who Do you think is the most interesting coaching story? Right right now Paul. Well I think those you're on is the most fascinating because I mean this guy was working on a shrimp boat thirty five years ago. Go and if you had told him or me or anyone else that he would end up being in a national play off ten years ago it got run out of this and I think I was the one who said he was the worst coach in Sec. History that has changed since then I based on the evidence I mean. It's just such a remarkable story because he had no chance of even getting the job. The couple of years ago member he was less mild was fired Four Games into the season he took over. We thought he had to beat Alabama. He didn't he he lost a flora. He got the job. And what's really interesting is. The school originally went after Jimbo Fisher got turned down then. They were desperate to get Tom. Herman urban remember him remember. Tom Hermit He. Is He so coaching in college. Football lost five games this year. Texas cannot transition because I want WanNa get into Clemson and Max is already declared dabbled sweeney the next newt rotten. I'm just saying he is demand right now. I don't think that can be denied. Why are you convinced? They're not going to win the National Championship. 'cause I first of all they played nobody this year for me to get a good evaluation and it's hard I have every reason. Can you believe Dabo is a is a fine coach and they have a really good program. But I've seen Ohio state go up against some really good teams I've seen Lsu just beat down some great teams like Mike Georgia the other day. I haven't seen plums and do anything so I listened If you want to I know you are. You're married to the past Steven you. I just can't wait to give me all the numbers about thirty straight forty straight one hundred stray Emma Jam. I would see it this year. I simply have one. I what I should have. One mandate and undefeated defending reigning national champion. Should have but two hours later. Got The wrong. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying and undefeated raining. Defending national champion should have a right to defend Niclas. We've been here fifteen sixteen trey you keep bringing so now tell you on your own own saving says. Is that your way of Saint. Paul Paul Finebaum that. If it were up to you clemson would not have been in the top four. Stephen A. Like every other massive question every other deeb who gets a vote food or or who gets asked a question I post about every week and this week Clemson was number three. Obviously you're not paying instagram. Saying ought to talk to you. I WANNA cry beating a dead horse here but I need to. I need to get back into this philosophically with you for a second because I totally agree with Stephen Smith for if you're I understand scheduling non conference games. It could be tough. Everything is here the champion. And you haven't lost. You can't pick the conference you play your in the conference you're in right so in terms other than scheduling tougher Outta Conference Games. Even if you had a close call and you went undefeated. You don't think that automatically guarantees at least a playoff slag repeat what I said to him. Do I need to say to you. Okay let me give you a scenario. What if you had a couple more undefeated teams? What if Oregon or or Utah were undefeated and Notre Dame were undefeated and somebody else was under? Then you have a logjam and that no. I don't know that. Say at that point you need some overwhelming evidence that Oregon or Oregon or someone like that they would have probably had like such better wins and won by so much. I listen listen I I. I'm going to throw in the towel here. Trying to explain to you guys. The college football is based on what happens in this calendar year. Not In living chance. I got a question for you. Find this interesting. What does this say about college football? That three of the quarterbacks in this playoff are all transfers it says one of the biggest issues in sport and I said it's a couple of weeks ago in relation to save is the transfer portal. It will drive coaches crazy and Berl left Ohio state. They were covering obviously Salihi Oklahoma recovered Alabama. Didn't it would have been nice to have J. When the school who I think has been hurt. The most by this is Georgia cheik from was a quarterback Saturday Saturday in that massacre in Atlanta. Meanwhile another one of the quarterbacks Georgia went off to Washington who eastern he'll be a first round pick And we obviously know. Justin feels heroes who tobacco flash. You could really barely get on the field. He's now leading Ohio state. So if you're if you're Georgia and three of these guys are from the state of Georgia I mean you. You really haven't issue it. You went old school Jake From and you end.

"Legacy. That's a complicated word it is for any. But the idea of one's legacy is an especially tricky conundrum for those who have lived their lives in the kind of spotlight that always shines on the sideline and Columbus. Ohio legacy isn't about win loss records or championship ring or players in the throes urban Meyer's football resumes in Peckham among the greatest of his generations. Even the greatest of all time. College football playoff. First national champion, the Ohio State buck- on foot legacy legacy is about how remembrance. Well, they remember your championships tattoos. Will they talk about beating Michigan or punching a kid at the gator will? Will they sing the praises of building winters bowling green in Utah or restoring tradition at this one in the horseshoe or will they instead mutter under their breath? A lot of how it all ended. A man who has long preach loyalty remaining two loyal to a longtime colleague accused of domestic violence Meyer said he didn't know those accusations others say he had to the culture is one of accountability be accountable stand up and be a man. So it was the calendar pages. Turn will the lasting images of urban Meyer. Beal hugs and trophies and titles or will his internal replay purgatory via throw away visit to the podium during a midsummer media. We have no idea. What years from the mention of urban Meyer's name will make us think. Neither does he he will try to convince us that he doesn't care, but he does all coaches do all people do in the end. All we leave behind is our legacy for better or for worse. And today he did say his legacy is important to him. But to leave for others to decide for his career. His legacy will include a lot of wins. Eight fifty three win percentage. Third on the all-time list. Among those to have coached at least ten seasons. Here's Paul finebaum. With more on Irvine's legacy in today's f-bomb. Urban Meyer said a lot of things today. But the most interesting thing, he said was it's complicated. What's complicating? He's retiring or so we thought in two thousand nine he retired and came back in two days in two thousand and ten he retired and came back in a year. I don't think urban Meyer is retired. I think he's stepping away from Ohio State because things are complicated there, especially the relationship the relationship between the administration. So will we see urban Meyer? Again, I suspect we will. I'm not sure when I'm not sure where that he left that door open. He left that door wide open today. Thank you, Paul. Yeah. It was just a five weeks ago that he said he plans on coaching next year. Now, he says he's pretty certain he's done with coaching. He collected two national titles in three years in Gainesville. A with the Gators in one and his time with the buckeyes. He joined Nick Sabin is the only other head coach to win national titles with multiple schools. We'll discuss the future what the future holds for state with Brian day up next the future for urban Meyer includes a trip to New York City, Saturday eighty drowned ESPN it's Heisman Trophy.

"I remember when the press conference came out announcing his suspension. Urban Meyer came across so badly that a lot of people reflected on it said, it wasn't a great day and some people including myself and others thought he actually should have been going simply because of how he handled that press conference. You can't be a lead of young men giving the impression that such behavior is tolerable. You just can't do it. And that's the impression that urban Meyer head given in some people's eyes, but nobody can question his greatness. And at the end of the day. That's what you're judged upon when you are a coach. You're judged upon your ability to lead young men to the ultimate accomplishments and very very few in the history of college football has done it as well as urban Meyer. You can sit up Dan St. Nick Sabin is the best college football coach of this era. You can legitimately debate. Whether or not he's the best we have ever seen. But what is absolutely positively undeniable? Is that after Nick Sabin, you can't definitively say that there has been a better coach in college football, a more accomplished coach in college football than urban Meyer? And so when we look at that it all comes down to how do you prefer to remember urban Meyer? If they're telling me, I'm listening. You gotta remember I'm working at ESPN. I've communicated for years with people associated with this man urban Meyer once work for ESPN, and I had the pleasure of talking to him. I don't like I handed that press conference. I don't like how he handled the whole Zac Smith situation. I thought it was deplorable. I also think that that's the only thing that I've had to say negatively about him since his days at Florida when it was about thirty one arrest. So we can look at it. A couple of ways we can look at him as an enabler of bad behavior. Oh, we can look at him. As one of the greatest coaches we've ever seen. I have to be honest with you. I prefer to do the ladder. The reason why I prefer to do the ladder is because of the obvious flagrant mistakes that urban Meyer may have made in handling certain situations. He's not the one that abused his wife or now ex wife. He's still married, of course, twenty nine years and counting. God bless him. He's not the one who abuses white. He's not the one who engaged in dare. I say criminal behavior. That's not what urban Meyer did. And certainly might have turned the blonde on deaf editor thinks he should not have. He might have needed to be a bit more on the ball. He certainly didn't need to lie to the media. The way that he did get cold straight busted. But last time I checked in the crime. He wasn't under oath. He doesn't have to tell me the truth. When he gets the lines suck it up and deal with the consequences. But he'd have to tell anybody the truth he committed no crime that was exit. What a thirty one arrests that took place under his watch at Florida that was those players and other folks that wasn't him. Now that doesn't completely absolve him. And I understand that. But it shouldn't also define his character. Our memory of that character, and it shouldn't be confined to those transgressions. Then he indirectly whereas associated with. I prefer to go to direct association route I prefer to go to route of okay, what is it that? We definitively noted today. And here's what we know that urban by did..

"Tonight. Urban Meyer's announcement to retire after the Rose Bowl, both a wow. And and of course after this past season suspension and all those reaction shots, you can see on sidelines basically every game how to remember urban Meyer. That's the question how to consider the three championships the nineteen winning percentage at Ohio State the past year and suspension at many calling for job, which he now really which is on his own volition and what position Ohio State five Delfin going forward with Ryan day. All that. For interpretation for starters today press conference where gene Smith's diluted urban on the field and off the field record and call them and exemplary person. Jack almost starving you how we'll urban Meyer be remembered it will house state. Well, at Ohio State in particular, he'll be remembered as a guy who won them in national championship, cause that's what football fans care about. And I would say nationally. He'll remember it as a guy that won three national championships and two different schools, but you can't ignore the rest of it. Tony. This is a person who over at both stops Florida and Ohio State had one of the worst records in terms of player character, especially when it has to do with alleged domestic abuse incidents, and that has to be part of urban Meyer going forward. Now, it's not like Woody Hayes. Would you Hayes won five national championships twenty? But the first thing everybody thinks, oh, yeah. He's the guy that punched that player on the sideline that won't be it with urban Meyer. It won't be like that. But it will be a situation where there's going to be an addendum to all the wonderful football that he coached because he is a fantastic football coach. But I'm sorry. You can't separate the two, and you should have been blocked stone is that how you sit. Well, I mean, I think that's true. But I think over time a lot of that stuff. We've pushed into the background. I mean. Yeah, we say that about Woody Hayes. But you know, the reason we think about what he hates us because he's a greatest football coach in the history of Ohio State University and all the championships and the Heisman Trophy winners and all that kind of thing. And I think that's the same thing with them with urban Meyer. But yes that is a part of it. I mean, we as people are complicated are are by vials or not always neat and clean. And then this hashtag me too movement and in the stroller, we're having with the mystic violence. There's no question that urban Meyer does not shine very well in this Environment Canada. Yeah. I gotta mostly agree with k b I think, you know, through the history of college football. There's been there's been scandals there's been recruiting violations there's been this and that and and as time goes on we just we look at coaches records, and that's primarily what we're going to remember with urban Meyer. I think we also have to be careful here. He's fifty four years old, even though he has health issues now, and we saw them especially in the Maryland game where there's a big time out in the players and coaches are huddled and he's over there with his hands on his knees. Looking at the ground, you can tell there's something really wrong that he needs to address and we've heard some of those issues he has. But that doesn't mean he won't two three years from now feel like getting back in but for now the three championships, and especially this. He's coach seventeen seasons and he's lost twenty two conference games. He rarely loses. Big ten games SEC games. He wins his conference games. And that's record is remarkable. Of course, as you said, Tim Keller show and mount Rushmore coaches or the best coaches of. The last forty years certainly in that conversation, and I'm wondering how fair it is to have conversations about coaches when you're talking about records when you're talking about off the field records when you're providing he was suspended for three games this season. But other coaches have had their their teams get into trouble legal trouble in the past. And it's not exactly in the first paragraph of their retirement speech, what he page where are you with urban Meyer today?.

"Whether you look back to what happened in August. We're talking about. Now, it's time to go. I'm just asking the time for it is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. We're even having this discussion. He is one of the best coaches in all of college football. He is undefeated verse Michigan. The first thing any coach goes so a house, and the first thing they learn is you gotta beat Michigan undefeated when they were ineligible. They went undefeated. He's won a title against by the way, Mick savings vaunted defense team like he is a. Very very good coat. There's no reason to have this. Because who are you gonna get there's nobody out there who are you going to get better than urban right now. There's a reason to have the discussion the leashes a lot longer for off the field issues when everything's going right on the field but Davey, you might know this best. It's not about what if you've done for me and say what have you done for me lately type of league? And right now what was done lately with twenty nine point loss or so what the hands of Perdue. So I get why the rumbling start to happen. Again, makes a great point urban Meyer's probably top three coach and college football in the last decade or two decades. He is phenomenal football coach, so truly Ohio states had count their blessings. But when you have issues like what August that Lee starts to get real short for urban. You can't take the hand of her not. So that's ridiculous. You you told me one loss. And now we're talking about oh, we should fire urban Meyer. What about all the other teams that have had one to loans's? Two one loss. We gotta talk about him leaving. No what I think is. I don't think it's the loss by no means is one loss fire, but Meyer, heck, no, it's the combination of people were saying, well should Ohio State firearm and Meyer prior to the season starting now you couple that with the bad loss. You're just going to pour file fire. Pour gasoline on hot coals. That's all it is. It's not the loss is just the combination that can get people grumbling. But no, you said it, right? Urban Meyer is a piece when it comes to being head football coach. And let's all remember they are seven in one and they control their own destiny as far as making winning the big ten and making it to the college football playoff once again not. So the case with Penn State, if the buckeyes are slipping and Penn State is in freefall they lost two in a row before squeaking out a win at Bloomington last weekend. And when you look at their remaining schedule, it doesn't get any easier with Isla the hotter teams right now in the big ten coming to town this weekend Saturday afternoon. Three thirty on ABC will Penn State. Will they regain their swagger and save their season this weekend? We'll I will continue their push to the big ten championship. I think is the best football team that no one is talking about curt fairness does a phenomenal job in. I with the hawk is. I don't think Penn State regains our swagger, not because of Penn State or anything they have to do. I just think I watched I play last week. They play a great job on offense on defense on special teams. Qatar is not flashy though, they might not sell a ton of tickets. They might not be fun to watch. But they're sounded when ballgames I only have one law for reason people need to stop sleeping and wake up on the is. People need to stop talking about. Penn State is if they're this powerhouse dominant football team, the fact that we have to highly ranked in the preseason. And now we're seeing who they really are what they are. Just a good team. They're not a great team against what James Franklin wants to say. They're definitely not an elite team against what he wants to say. They're just a good team. That's all they are. They're defense is in good. They have a very good quarterback a like mouth standards that the running back position after that. They don't have anybody just have guys..

"Then he can go back and run the team run practices, but will miss the first three games. It seems like this committee first off what an absolute sham. The fact that you have committee with three Ohio State trustees who are helping with the investigation in helping determine urban Meyer's fade. I mean it's just a sham. It's an internal investigation. I want an independent investigation. I don't want people who are fans of Ohio State University football program. I don't want that. I want people who don't care about it. Don't care about Meyer. I would like it to be independent. What is the. Thing, though they still pointed out things that were negative, distinctly negative about urban Meyer and painted him in a way. That kind of says, yeah, this was shady, but his argument is impenetrable. It's on stuff. Maybe I didn't really remember that stuff. And so you can't really fire me so they just penalize him. But in the end it comes down to Ohio State didn't want to ruin their football program or over a moral issue. And I think all of its fans will greet and say, hey, you know what? We'll take the l and we say, hey, we look bad on this one, but let's keep our coach because he didn't actually do anything letter of the law wrong. So it's exactly what you would expect it to paint to play out as and for those who say, oh, you know, you guys are moralizing just because you're not a high state fans leave a program. I would do this about any program about my program about the Gators because it's not really worth it. To me. There's always going to be a football coach there. There's always going to be Saturdays where I can watch that team play. I'd rather not have to do it sharing for a guy who's in charge of these student athletes who's just doing stuff like this. But are you buying the memory stuff because I guarantee you if you picked a random game from two seasons ago and asked urban Meyer today, do you remember every play you call during that game? I promise you. He remembers every single detail of that game. I mean, you can't promise if he's saying he's taking medication. I'm pretty sure they're not taking his word for it. They're looking into the medication that he's taken and seeing some of the side effects even hard for them for this investigative committee to believe that Shelley Mayer never told urban about those texts, but it's a, he said, she said they can't stay on. They can't say firmly, hey, yeah, we know you knew because our wives would have told us, but you're really, this feels like the dog ate the homework type stuff. It's a mom medication, and my wife never told me, but even an investigator would have had to have come to the same conclusion. Okay. We don't believe you, but we can't prove otherwise. Yeah, I don't. I'm not refuting that it's hard to believe in the this is stretch, and I'm looking at the evidence and I'm drawing my own conclusion just based on that can't possibly be the. Case, but there's no smoking gun here. There's no. Really apparent attempt at a cover up here. So now it's just a moral, which is why drives me nuts. When the fans are saying are defending him and saying, hey, we can get a look. Again, there's all we Ohio state's going to try to find the best possible coach to replace them. If they had to replace, you're going to get the best possible, whatever that program can put together the best possible coach to replace him if you were to get rid of him and your Saturdays would be filled with all those same emotions, you just don't have to swallow that. I guess, pride if you will or whatever you wanna call it to say, yeah, I'm cheering for a guy who clearly covered up a situation where it appeared to be domestic abuse, like I get it like, I'm just over it as a fan, and this isn't even somebody that's working in sports just as a fan of sports for three decades. I've just tired of it. My the morals part is important, but it's hot man..

"Lou to earlier. I think we were both operating all this time or the assumption that if urban Meyer new out the two thousand nine arrests than Shirley Ohio State did when they hired him not so much didn't turn up in the background check urban Meyer in telling somebody about it apparently because he thought that he didn't believe in believer, right? That's a continuing threat in here in frankly, a very disturbing one, frankly, for domestic violence victims everywhere. They didn't tell anybody and then like you said, so then he's accused of the same thing much the same thing in two thousand fifteen. And even then or reminder doesn't think to say, hey, you know, we had a similar incident like this back at Florida in. So I was just floored when it said that gene Smith did not learn of the two thousand nine invest arrest into last month until came out publicly in July twenty eighteen. That's a sounding, hey, by the way, how do you think that relationship is right now between June Smith urban Meyer? Think there's a lot of awkwardness all over the place there between board president head coach in a d. I mean, I, you know, and that's honestly, that's a story for another day. It'd be honest, you know, good point through this a couple of other things that you know this thing because it got discussed a lot. We discussed it a lot was urban Meyer not being truthful at big ten media days in Chicago, and there is there is a re a kind of a blow by. Blow by going through this tax MRs urban Meyer and it's from the night before I know nothing about this. He asked, is there a way to find out exactly what his issues were? I know about two thousand nine in princes it was dropped and last week that's it needs some guidance here. So when I speak to media, I'm not wrong later that evening Ryan stamper Ryan stamper his player development guy. Brian step also former u. university of Florida player also was was a was a member of a police force down in Florida sample reported to Meyer that there was no record of Zac Smith being arrested in two thousand fifteen only records of divorce. Meyer acknowledge this stating stamp just confirmed. There was no arrests in two thousand fifteen as the same text chain continued into the morning of July twenty. Fourth gene Smith cautioned. I would be careful do not get to detailed. He went onto vise that whatever coached Meyer says on the subject that big ten media days should be said in his opening state. In end quote and take no more questions on it. Well, jeans, urban Meyer went went off script there because he took more questions on it. He didn't stay on script. He did get very detailed, but in the context of this, you know what this text exchange was..
