Bills earn 1st sweep of Patriots since '99 with 38-9 win
"Josh Allen and the bills completed a rare feat against the patriots with a thirty eight to nine win on Monday Night Football Allen passed for three hundred twenty yards and four touchdowns to lead buffalo to its first regular season sweep of New England since nineteen ninety nine I know this game eight one a minute it meant a lot to both sides you know it's our pride on the line for us you know we're trying to get up to speed Stefon Diggs caught three TD passes the last of which moved Allen passed Jim Kelly for the team single season record with thirty four cam Newton had just thirty four yards passing before being benched for backup Jarrett Stidham New England will finish below five hundred for the first time since two thousand Geffen cooled off Foxboro Massachusetts
Stefon Diggs Is Buffalos Miracle Man
"The best season of his pro career right now. How good are things going in buffalo. I mean really good. Pablo like you said. I mean you know again this is. This is a team. Obviously that has a lot of scar tissue for a difficult times in the past and so the bills themselves are they won. The division for the first time in a couple of decades and digs is right at the center of their success. I'm always staying for buffalo trust and believe in me. I'm forever grateful personally. He is having the best season of his career. He's averaging i think twenty yards more per game step touched up. He's leading the league in receptions josh allen. Taking a deep shot the separation from dixon. He's and he's doing in so many different ways dick's just electric on the outside best received early. Nfl this season so he's been outstanding and the cherry on top came against the broncos digs broke the bills franchise record for receptions allen fires. This one is caught about step addict. Steph dick sets the club record with one hundred and one catches on the season. Congratulate is showing the bills and the whole nfl just how versatile a receiver he really is. You interviewed him for your cover story. Sam what was he like in person burg. I honestly i came into it. A little bit unsure what to expect when i sat down and started talking with digs though it became clear very quickly that he's an upbeat guy. A positive guy a guy who likes to laugh a guy smile. A guy who really enjoys fashion is a little bit eccentric at various points. We talked about the books. He's been reading. He really enjoyed the alchemist his a starbucks order which is apparently tavon green tea with a little bit of juice in it. Well so he loves the alchemist the book. He's apparently an alchemist. Like juice in your starbucks order really y- apparently he's really into it and i have to say as somebody who enjoys green tea and also enjoys apple juice. I had never thought put them together. But it's actually not bad. I want to rewind a bit sam. Talk about he got to where he is now. That trade in question which happened in march minnesota to buffalo. What was going on with digs in the vikings before that so let's go back a little bit right. He's drafted by the vikings in two thousand. Fifteen comes out of the university of maryland sort of work his way in take advantage of the opportunities and then the minneapolis miracle case on a deep drop. Step up in the pocket. He'll fire to the right side. Does it does that catch in. January of two thousand. Eighteen is arguably the greatest play in vikings history. And they've been around for over sixty years so that's pretty significant. You would think in that moment. Okay this is a play. That's going to define this guy's career and it's going to link him forever to this team. Damn bill says i. I got a Never stop working. Today was went all the work paid off and this is where i found his arc interesting within a year and a half or so. He's absolutely miserable. And even though you might have thought hey. This guy could spend his whole career with the vikings. After having this moment it became very clear that that wasn't going to be the case. So what went wrong in minnesota. Why was he so unhappy.
Chris Doering talks Florida and Georgia
"We welcome in chris during Who gives us her. Quite a look ahead to tomorrow's game. Chris in most years florida hosting lsu of the sec this week. It's been pretty quiet. I am curious as you know those two teams so well especially from florida side What what are they thinking as they get one of their bitter rivals in a bitter rival that they are a prohibitive favorite. It is weird. Isn't it paula. Me and thinking back to win. This game was originally scheduled. I thought most lsu people felt like we're gonna get a chance to play later in the year we'll get healthier. We'll get miles brennan back. We'll be in better position. And i would argue that. They're actually in a worse position now than when they were originally scheduled in october. So i it's kind of a weird dynamic with a lotta florida. Fans looking forward to sec. Championship game next weekend for me. This is all about. Florida has nothing to do with their opponent. Lsu it's about getting right offensively full full-fledged dress rehearsal right costumes everything. Let's go for what we're gonna do next week. I i honestly been kind of disappointed with florida's offensive performance. The last three weeks dating back to the vanderbilt came. Because they just look inconsistent. They look like they walk through a haze periods of time. They look like they're not executing and part of it's their own fault for looking so good against arkansas in the second half and missouri against georgia. We set the bar pretty high for them but focused level has not been there for a full sixty minutes. I want to see all fence. Get back to executing at the level. They were early in the year defensively. Let's get some things shored up. Let's figure out how to keep from giving up these long passing plays. Let's get generate some more pressure on the quarterback. Let's be able to to penetrate and stop the run something. I thought they did. Well against tennessee last week but The thing i'm gonna keep my paul. What are the numbers for. Kyle trask because obviously this is a game as you said against a A bitter rival one. That beat florida by fourteen. Last year florida's got a chance to return the favor but they also have a chance to outduel in back to back weeks what mack jones get did against the very same defense. And don't think that winning the heisman trophy is not something that dan mullen really wants. For contrast and something that will help his program significantly going forward in on that subject. How do you compare. Kyle trash to meg jones. And that's really his main competition now and that we know we know what had next two weeks especially next week but what what what what separates college trask. If anything well first of all. I love both of these guys you know as a former receiver. I love the the accuracy. I love the the the way they re defenses and get the ball to the right guy. On what the defense is dictating But i would go back and say kyle. Traffic is probably had a tougher. Time than what mack jones at and. That's not taking anything away. From mac ios but look at how. Good this offense of line is for alabama. Look at how well they've run the football over the last six games or so look at what. Najji harris has done. Devante smith the reason why iraq jones's numbers look so good on the deep passes over twenty yards and no disrespect. Mac has been really accurate. But when you're throwing a guy that's five yards behind the nearest defender. It makes it a little bit easier. So again i think without the run game florida certainly not able to run the football very well. I don't think they're offensive. Line is the most consistent So i think the load that kyle. Trask bears a little bit harder to to carry them. What jones does now with that being said. Look at the weapons of florida has i. I don't think i've ever been able to say at least in recent years. That florida has more receiving weapons around their quarterback than what alabama does. They've been absolutely loaded but Looking at the way that that not only kind of is utilized trayvon. Grimes justin shorter. All those receivers. Jacob copeland has come on as well Forgetting about tony. Who might be one of the biggest Factor mismatch guys in the sec. Right now but the way. They use the running backs as well. That was something that we saw against georgia so a lot of different guys. That are helping. Kyle trask out. But i think with the advantage that alabama has on the offensive line and that run game to complement the throws down the field. I think kyle may have a little bit more of a impressive Season just because of how much he's had to do himself chris. Couple of games. I want to ask you about one. Particular auburn at mississippi state mississippi state has been up and down we. We've been through that conversation. But i'm really curious about auburn. Because they've had some really good moments this year and then some clunkers especially lately. I know what you're doing here paul. You love it. When i go off on auburn and it's been up and down year with them right early in the season. I was really down on him. I was starting to get A little bit more positive with the way they were able to run the run the football figuring out who they were with take bixby and that offensive line and then they got hit with a bunch of injuries up front Bixby was was banged up.
Chiefs rally to beat Broncos 22-16 to clinch playoff berth
"Kansas city didn't score its first touchdown until late in the third quarter but the chiefs raise their record to eleven and one with the twenty two to sixteen win over the Denver Broncos quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw a twenty yard pass to tight end Travis Kelsey to give the chiefs the lead for good in this league at the far away to win every single team has a as it is going to have to bring their best shot and have a chance to beat you and I long to come out the win in the end they don't have to be pretty and I thought the guys did a great job of battling today and find a way it was the only TD pass for Mahomes who completed twenty five of forty passes for three hundred eighteen yards with the win the chiefs of beating the Broncos eleven straight times Greg Echlin Kansas city
Kellen Mond passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third and No. 5 Texas A&M scored 17 points in the fourth quarter of a come-from-behind 31-20 victory over Auburn.
"Number five Texas a and M. football scored seventeen points in the fourth quarter to rally past Auburn Saturday thirty one to twenty Aggie quarterback Quelimane bounce back from a rough performance against LSU that's over one hundred and ninety six yards and two touchdowns to go along with sixty yards and a score on the ground I see a speller led the Aggie rushing attack posting a game high one hundred and twenty yards with the win Texas a and M. improves to seven and one on the season meanwhile Auburn falls to five in for an open three against top five teams this year I'm Zach Taylor
Mahomes, Hill have huge day, Chiefs hold off Bucs 27-24
"It was too too late for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs twenty seven to twenty four two fourth quarter touchdown passes from Tom Brady to Mike Evans were not enough to overcome an early seventy did nothing chiefs lead Patrick Mahomes completed thirty seven of forty nine passes for four hundred sixty two yards and TD strikes of seventy five forty four and twenty yards to Tyreek hill Mahomes was happy with the victory we played well enough to win I still think there's there was Tom's office will get a better second half in the red zone Rudy was twenty seven forty one for three hundred forty five yards three touchdowns and two interceptions the chiefs around ten and one while the books dropped to seven and five Tom Macon's Tampa
A conversation with Joaqun Niemann
"Let's get back to joaquin neiman. Did was there. Anyone who would have been the person that you would have been the most nervous to be around either to have played with or walk by on the range. Or if they're watching you hit balls on the range you'd have been nervous to be around. Who someone that that at that age would have major nervous riley. Yeah probably playing around here. I think i think the first time i saw was the moriarty was late north third or four tournament which Experience i remember. I was playing great. I was almost the last ruben sunday. I mean i could hear that. There was not only ten groups front but i could hear everything that's note and the people following him by think. Sergio helped me a lot to like. Get that pressure off. You know like lie. Know him. Before i turn pro. I will to play with him before on unknown how good they are also know that i can like i can be here. You know. I was actually at that memorial that year and i remember watching. Ut off on the tenth hole once. i'd never seen you hit a ball in person and it just stuck out to me immediately and do on tv. And i'm sure you hear a lot about how low you hit the ball and i'm just curious. Has that always been the case. And is that something that you know you. You were aware of growing up or any special reason. Why would hit the ball. Low and chile. Or do you think about that at all non. It was is fine because at the beginning that league union a lot of confidence. When i'm like a little bit nebulous son. I need to hit the way. I'll heed that show on a new. I remember when i start being professional a using. That showed that now during the time. Yeah i've been using it less. I'd i'd be using more hydro. I'm just trying to hit farther on. May i have that show that. I feel really confident when a heated unease yummies late may go to That's what i was. I was curious. And i was looking back at the highlights from when you won at greenbrier every now and then that forty one foot apex driver shot comes out and i was. I was just interesting because of how different the game appear the direction. The game appears to be heading seems to be you know track man. Everyone's telling you hit it high. Hit hi hi. I'm wondering if you know as you were transitioning from amador into pareo if anybody came along and said hey you could hit it this much further if you hit it higher or but i think what you just said though it's interesting how you've you've prioritized accuracy. But i'm wondering if if that has evolved at all over the years. I remember when i played. Infirm courses The bogus along. Way i Relate to two seventy and he runs it. Depends on the fairway ferry. Sometimes when their firm for example greenbrier they allowed so sometimes is not that short by yemi normally. I've been preferring. yes More with hydro. Sometimes i got bunkers around when he died. I'm like are now monday. Just gonna he'd been the hydro and the beginning. I was really. I don't know if i was a little bit more secure or no but early. I prefer yesterday that low one being more coffee when the on knowing that i'm gonna hit the airway but now he's more like a feel like i feel better on the course right now and i just. I just thought that showed that like more. And he's been pretty good lately. So i like it do you feel. Where do you feel most comfortable. Like firm and fast conditions or when when it softer yeah. I like away. When when he's firm. I know that. I don't hear really really high with the also with the iron. So it is hard to me to stub on own the green when i when i'm lega 5-iron their firm 'cause i don't get it like really high but yeah i mean like bain with firm conditions. I think is is more fun on unb lehner green or heating widgets from the hundred twenty yards is is is good to see that like bouncing around the great in those more fun. Yeah i mean. I find it interesting you know. Obviously when it's firm your drivers going to run out a lot more but like you said it's hard to hold greens. If you hit it low and i i wanna talk a little about royal melbourne in the president's cup. You know you have it's interesting. You didn't have the most success at royal melbourne yet at the same time at olympia fields this year which was very firm and fast you finish third. And i'm i wanna talk a lot about role melvin. But first off. I would say. Did you learn anything in particular from that week. That helped you in later situations when it is going to be firm and fast. Yeah more than of course it was more like the atmosphere. Unlike the like getting that amount of pressure it was one of those way i mean the whole way was really intense. On the course roy ever was unbelievable. I mean i think he's one of my favorite right now. Unease eighty s a lot of strategy. I remember ernie was standing us. They don't in many drivers. You gotta The ball on the right side than it was more. Legacy smart play yet was different course. i remember in chicago Driver everywhere every bunker was laid three or three. Oh five three. Thank ari so i was trying to cater scarlet side. Ken he was going straight. You which is which was really good that we
Los Angeles Rams Hold Off Brady, Bucs Behind Goff’s 3 TDs
"Okay skip. We're going to get through this today. Let's talk about what we saw last night. The rams did beat the buccaneers last night. Twenty seven twenty four despite rushing for less than two yards per carry jared goff picked apart tampa secondary for three hundred seventy six yards and three touchdowns including over one hundred yards to both robert woods and cooper kupp. Meanwhile tom brady finished with two hundred sixteen passing yards on season low five yards per attempt and also threw two interceptions including one on the bucks. Final drive when they had a chance to tie or take the lead the game the forty three year old quarterback brady his third loss in prime time. This season shannon. How much was tom brady to blame last night. A lot of the half out of ten. Don't put this in primetime. Tom brady played more prime time games. Nine super bowl is that prime time thirteen. Afc championship game. Is that prime time. All the playoff game. Don't put that in prime time. Tom brady have played bad. It's as simple as their tom. Brady has not been good. This year needs played here. Well he played good if he hasn't put a game together No our young watched game at carolina just a week ago. Like virtuoso masterpiece when comprehend. Please just let me have my moment. just let me by moment. Twenty two incompletions. Wow if that good you thought about forty eight times you have slightly more than two hundred sixteen to one dollars that good. Goodbye it now. This what we hear brady was inaccurate all night last night on deep balls. Oh for six with two interceptions on throws twenty yards downfield skip bayless and pro football focus. Se tom brady's doing great during the ball down the field the last four gave. He's one for twenty. Throw twenty yards down the field with three interceptions. Now here the stat that somebody. I don't know who came up with this. That they call it a. He leaves the league you this. Tom brady leads. The league in a twenty yard throws sixty me lead to leave but he's twenty. Seven and completion percentage four and affection which third most. What was the final score. Time killed. kim. I will let you have. It was sixty five to nothing more. If i'm not janey why. What did i predict the finals. Go be laughing yesterday. you have no idea. I don't remember shad have really did better. Staleness only got one pro. Football focus also came all stay at near distance. It doesn't matter if the ball is complete or incomplete. Otto completion matter. It doesn't matter because don because you've been telling me all he does is drink and done his backs. Skip good if i thought about georgia. Being the hall of fame. Completions didn't battle. All i was only refuting your point. He's just a dink dunker now. That's what said he's got no arm. He's a noodle arm spaghetti white house. Completion percentage down the field who leads the whole. Nfl in air distance. And i think he just pulled away. Last night beth as consequential stat you saw him throwing the ball down the field lighting and dunk last night when he didn't think and how do look when did he deacon dunk. I think conductor for net three times that he dropped all three of them note that he had antonio brown hair thirteen target eight catches for fifty seven yards seven point one of material. He had ten targets. The chris with seven yards seven catches for fifty three yards. Dak seven point six. He had one receiver that had a double digit average own completion. You he deacon and dunkin what was the final score deferrals court with tom brady lost and the rams one. That's what jared goff. First of all jerry gulf in charm paid like the gave this thing away because they got ultra conservative and they got careless the football but somebody makes go but scale you look off last night. There's no way around it. I don't want to hear anything about the defense. Because i told you everybody based everything because if you wash tampa bay everybody wanted to annoy them after. They did with green bay. And i'll say if you watch that defense. I say the into who said i didn't get to us. They can be hey. I think they're very undisciplined. I out of position a lot more. You think but because that pass rush covers up but they don't get home they can be had. Whoa that they're coming. They could be had skilled. Tom brady he got happy feet. Another one get here and they gotta run. They really do a whole lot but they got around him a little bit and he had had like polka polka. Like do the poco.

Steelers dominate early, hold off Titans for 27-24 win
"Ben Roethlisberger threw two touchdown passes to Deonte Johnson while the Steelers were building at twenty seven seven lead in a twenty seven twenty four win over the Titans would like to play games like that second half quite like that first out but the other professional team they they make adjustments and and they made some I did make enough plays in second half that he still added a one yard TD run and ray ray McCloud set up a touchdown with a fifty seven yard punt return but the Titans scored seventeen straight points in the second half and were in position to force overtime until Stephen Gostkowski missed wide right from forty five yards out with fourteen seconds left the Steelers improved to six you know for the first time since nineteen seventy eight when they went to the Superbowl Ryan Tannehill threw for two hundred twenty yards and two TV's for the five one Titans I'm Dave Ferrie
Vanderbilt-Missouri is the first SEC game postponed due to COVID-19
"We welcome you back. Our is live and underway busy busy I our. Thirty minutes ago we learned that the first SEC game has been postponed of this twenty twenty campaign it will be. Rescheduled Vanderbilt Missouri scheduled for this Saturday in Columbia. Now, be December twelfth. We'll talk to coach drink in thirty minutes and get his reaction to that. So here we go more phone calls in a minute a lot of fans unhappy from every aspect of the winners and losers speaking of the latter. Let's talk about the Lsu Tigers two weeks ago Scott Rabble a came on. Wasn't ready to hit the panic button. Everything was calm. Scott's gotcha very scopes. Scott Seen It all before. Scott. Have you seen anything quite like the ending of Saturday's game? Good afternoon how are you? and got to the NFL Yeah that's that's you mentioned I'm kind of reminded of the and it's not a good time Lsu that ninety nine, Game Alabama when just food he tried to run the ball down like. John elway. Pin Wheeled in the air came up a yard short and and they you know they they threw the ball and the they did it. They didn't score. So yeah, it was. It was reminds me of you not good times for Lsu but you know. I gotta say the way lsu played Saturday. On defense but also on offense failing to convert a third down there really is kind of justice. They didn't really deserve to win that game I, mean they they you know they pulled it out and they would've pulled it out there. It would have been a win that covered up a lot of a lot of issues. So what? I don't know if it's safe to go outside I. Mean I know I know the version fortunately escaped the worst of the storm the other day was farther to the West but I mean what? What what is the buzz in your town especially both Pallini and and I mean three games in he seems like he's on the tip of everyone's tongue is it fair? Oh. Sure? Yeah. Absolutely. I mean this is the this is the defense that You know this change Dave Randall left defensor longtime defensive coordinator WHO's hard under? Les. Miles. You know the several years ago he left me the head coach at Baylor. So they had to hire someone like forced out or anything. So hopefully knew who was here under miles and those first three great years in the Mouse Oh, five Oh, six Oh, seven the end up with a national championship and you know just it hasn't worked at me. This questions is Bo behind the Times is not adjusted to those are some great defensive back then with Clinton Dorsey and Tyson Jackson and and you know you're a great players like that got a little on Landry secondary great players like that, and you kind of wonder you know the Adjusting but. It's just been Y- coaches you're on himself is trying to put it all on him and the coaches and they got a coach better. You said that, Saturday, after the game you set it on his press conference today, they just lost followed. They're they're good players on the Stevens, their high NFL draft pick on the defense Derek Stanley Jacoby Stevens to real cox the transfer for. North. Dakota. State people said he might have been a first round draft pick. Had He come? Out and said of transferring Ali Gay Defensive End they lost a lot of great players, but this shouldn't be this bad and aurons You know famously said, then the all season, the defense look better in practice than at any time last year, and obviously that is not the case and they gave up eight plays a twenty yards of more. Missouri averaged almost nine yards per play and five and a half yards per carry it and it just that's just not. That's just not winning football and worst of all they all she just looked. I saw gene gene Chizik said after the game. So you. Look, like on Defense Soft and lost, and Lsu looks like both unfortunately for them. By, the way everything you just got through saying you could replicate for three or four other SEC schools except none of them are the defending champions like Lsu. Scott we're three games in I. Mean we all know that and I'm not sure how much you can value. A. Win Over Vanderbilt Right now considering the state of that program. But as you look ahead I, mean you don't look any farther than this weekend against Florida. LSU will need to score seventy points to keep up with them. Immediate? Looks. That way and I'm not a betting Guy Pa, my government I think I've looked at the over maybe go for that Florida's defense looks pretty challenge to Alabama wins and gives up forty eight points to stole miss. But the the disturbing serving big frail issue. Yeah. Everyone's having trouble defensively No question. Do you wonder if that lack of spring football or the proper time to prepare in the off season has hurt them But you know you look at that once you give six, hundred, twenty, three guys and the Mississippi State, history has been dreadful offense against Arkansas and Kentucky the last two weeks Missouri scored like I think three touchdowns combined the first Games averaging like fifteen points a game against Alabama Tennessee and it just go wild lsu just look great. I mean that's that's the part. That's that's extra disturbing prelates pans and like the lsu fans always. Always wanted this offense obviously, they complained for years and rightly. So by the the plotting less miles offense, but there's a lot of pride in the school, the the the the billy cannon is the star up in you know and and now Joe Borough and players like that. But the tried is always been the defense, the Chinese bandits, Tommy Tests Inova Win Dorsey Laurent Landry mentioned, Patrick, Peterson, Taran Taran Matthew, and what else he doesn't play Great Defense I. Think this is this is like a core value of lsu's program that is not being being held a lived up to, and it's it's very troubling Tila lsu probably would take a little less offense for some better defensive as. Scott Realistically I mean this weekend looks like a long shot I would have to say I mean still Alabama. Out There Auburn out there. South, Carolina am I mean everyone knows the schedule? I mean before the season some might be hard to win them all but maybe maybe eight or nine. Where's the sliding scale right now? Ball I don't know it's sliding really. Really. Bad way down the hill. You know a lot of hills here in Baton Rouge but he found it. It's sledding Hill that way. Down Victory Hill Yes for the team marches down normally before the Games by Tigers stadium is not vitriol right now I I like everybody else said like the six games else who's GonNa win and four games where the season's going to be decided Alabama Auburn Florida and Texas a&M, and right now I don't think he can after South Carolina just banning by the same score Lsu did Arkansas has played. She's gotTa go to they'll South Carolina, comes here in in two weeks I don't I don't think. There's any Sherwin left for L. Share on the schedule I don't think they're gonNA go one nine but I think right now you just gotTa. Look at what can you do to have a have a winning season they're still good players There's on this team in town they lost a lot from last year obviously, but you know the they've got to. Change, the things coach today coach talk today about simplifying both offense and defense. Again remember the offense was Owen on third down Saturday that's a pretty bad step to although this court forty-one points should have been enough to win, but it's still some really great players on the House Brennan. Has Not Been, Joe Borough, been very good. You know he's had over three hundred yards passing game over four hundred yards Saturday tariffs, marshalls been tremendous hit two, hundred, thirty, five, yard service and three touchdowns Saturday. So this, this isn't good players in the team, but they just got to get tougher and and find a way to grind out a win somewhere and and this is not entirely similar fall I gotta say from twenty. Dissimilar from twenty seventeen she lost at home Detroit and went to Florida the next week and they won the game I'm not saying I'm not predicting she win. But this have the size, a lot of field of that when they kind of looked tougher and more determined and they found a way to win and they've never looked back games on order on, they're gonna be hard pressed to avoid doing that obviously late this week. He had I wouldn't call it a charm to existence because now that you mentioned the troy game and there had been some ups and downs but certainly coming off the best year ever how is he handling the defeats? A He's he's trying to take a lot of the blame on himself and deflected from his team Not exactly deflecting from the assistant coaches said, he's talked about, hey, on defensive we just have one coverage and one one formation. Let's do that. Let's and you said. Some things on offense too. I think he's kind of talking about Scott Lenihan, the new guy, a passing game coordinator WHO and Red Zone specialists who take the place of Joe Brady who who was on the staff last year and of course talking about Botha? Lenient? Coach, and he said something telling today I thought that you said, you know the most Ryan. The defense but he he's he's going to you know be checked in on every formation every plan that they use you know as a defensive line coach that's his forte he he's going to be I think maybe a little more hands on with the formations they use and the and the and the coverages, and but some of that are doing well, he's Got Thrown out I think that. This is the defense he wanted this is he talking about being wardrobe four three and they've got a great. Amazon Moves Prime Day, Starting the Holiday Shopping Season Early
"Amazon. Is remaking the retail calendar again. Yes. Again, this year Amazon Prime Day will be held on October thirteenth and fourteenth about three months later than it standard July date prime day. In case somehow you didn't know is Amazon's biggest sales event of the year a much hyped discount bonanza for Amazon prime members as soon as Amazon finally announced its rescheduled date target followed suit not surprisingly target will hold its. Own. Deal days at exactly the same time. Walmart followed shortly after it will hold a gigantic sale for the entire week. Many many other sheep retailers are sure to follow because Amazon Prime Day, which by the way is only five years. Old Is an insanely successful manufactured holiday when Amazon held its first Prime Day in July two thousand fifteen other retailers scoffed the idea July typically more of an for retail sales. Why would any retailer waste time and money trying to get consumers to change entrenched behavior? Well clearly the skeptics were wrong. Lee. Peterson is an analyst with retail consultancy wd partners in Columbus. Ohio as Peterson recounts the history of Prime Day in its first year, the world sat back and did nothing but watch and as they did Amazon stunned everyone in the three and a half trillion dollar industry by going absolutely bananas he told us the numbers were other worldly flat out shocking. But for everyone else it was July he said, well, other retailers could hardly sit back and let that happen again at least not without a fight as Peterson says, it's a necessity borne out of the fire of retail combat, but he adds maybe the right word is retail slaughter. So a few years ago target Walmart and others launched their own massive July sales. It had taken almost no time for Amazon, to turn the dead retail days of July into something, very, very different for the retail world. July effectively became the new back to school launch a month earlier than it had always happened and boy has it been a winner for Amazon. Last year was its biggest ever Amazon doesn't release earnings for Prime Day, but the company claims prime members bought one hundred, seventy, five, million items more than twenty eight teams, Black Friday, and cyber Monday combined as they did this year target and Walmart let Amazon lead scheduled their events to surround prime day whenever Amazon wanted it. July past sleepily this year for obvious pandemic reasons. Now, with the announcement of a mid October Prime Day, the calendar is once again shifting perhaps permanently analysts say the event effectively kicks off the holiday shopping season that used to be marked by Black Friday. Remember the frenzy shopping event that follows thanksgiving, but covert is causing an enormous shift in consumer behavior according to market research firm Alex partners. About half of all shoppers plan to start holiday shopping by Halloween at were earlier this year in effect that firm says the traditional definition of the November December holiday shopping season is now meaningless. What all this means for consumers of course, is a confusing and pledge of deals expect an overwhelming number of ads from all corners, hawking products and categories that have soared because the pandemic at leisure loungewear. Outdoor gear electronic streaming and music subscriptions and homegoods. Of course, anything that entertains US and makes us more comfortable at home. Amazon. Specifically is expected to offer discounts on many of its own products like Echo smart speakers and Amazon music and audible subscriptions. Some of those discounts are already available but also be on the lookout for deals on instagram pots, remote vacuum cleaners, apparel, and TV's to compete. Target is pushing discounts on similar categories of products and also at stellar same day service, which the company has excelled at scaling this year as it has for the last couple of years, target is also pushing the message that customers don't have to be members in order to get steals. It costs about one hundred, twenty dollars a year for prime membership, but that surprise million seem happy to pay. This year Amazon prime is expected to exceed one, hundred, forty million members for the first time more than half of all Americans according to research firm Emarketer. The firm also predicts that Amazon. Will generate a record ten billion dollars in sales on prime day up from an estimated seven billion dollars last year. So we'll target and Walmart do well with their prime day look-alikes. Undoubtedly, they will like Amazon they've grown considerably during the pandemic online sales especially of jumped. But can they truly compete with Amazon Kind of says, Lee Peterson. If Prime Day was a one hundred meter dash, she says Amazon will reach first place in record time about twenty yards later, there'll be second-place success. That bad still.

Tom vs. Team: Why Brady is Moving On
"Well amidst everything happening in the world. Right now Tom Brady singlehandedly. Wrestle control of the new cycle and in the process basically gave us in sports media a miniature stimulus package by announcing that. He's leaving the New England patriots. Seth you have covered Brady forever. You've been to his house. You've covered this team for a while. What was your initial reaction to today's news? I think it's been in the works for a long time. I think it's been in the works since training camp and I think that people just didn't want to believe it New England fans didn't want to believe it some media members didn't believe it. Even people close to Tom. Brady didn't want to believe it. Even the people who did believe it in some ways didn't WanNa believe it and yet here we are I should note here that all season long says McCain has been texting me. I think this happened. I think this is going to happen. And I've written back really come on really stuff so you were right and here. We are and as you mentioned not. Everything's been roses in New England for quite a while now and we'll get to that but until I think this season. It didn't seem realistic to a lot of people that he would actually leave. So let's go back to the beginning of the year. When did that start change? Well I think that he almost left training camp because he was so frustrated about the contract negotiations that were going on with the Patriots for years. Now he is wanted a commitment and he has said with every ounce of sincerity that he wants to play until he's forty five years old and I think there's a part of him that felt like he had earned that commitment from the New England patriots but in lieu of that. He just wanted clarity. If you don't want me here fine I'll move on but you have to let me know and in the fall of eighteen. He signed what was termed at the time. As a two year extension was not an extension it was essentially five million dollars in bonuses that he never hit and then this year he entered the year as fifteen million dollar quarterback on the books which is astounding in August. He and his camp were in negotiations with the Patriots again. They were not interested in committing beyond a year to him and again reportedly he almost left training camp because he was so frustrated about it but when he finally did commit to playing and sign the deal he said all along that he was just an employee there. I show up and do my job. I'm an employee like everyone else. I'M GONNA show this week to do the best. I can do a quarterback when he said I'm just an employee here that was a little bit different and everybody always knew that even though Tom Brady could say he was a player just a player. Everyone knew that he was Tom Brady. Everyone knew that he could talk to. Robert Kraft whenever he wanted to. Everybody knew he go to Robert. Kraft's house whenever he wanted to so. It was always a little ridiculous that he would say that. I find your point about him saying. I'm just an employ really interesting because everybody knows that bill belichick is fairly ruthless. Really when it comes to you know how he manages personnel in his job is GM. He will move on from a star a legend right away but it was always the assumption. Tom Brady was above that he was not just an employee. He wasn't just any player to ballot. Check do you think that changed at some point recently or do you think that's always been the case? I think it's always been the case but I think what changed was Tom's perspective. I think the assumption was that it was Bella. Check who would be willing to move on from Brady and cut or trade him. Even though we all knew that Robert Kraft was never gonNa let him cut or trade. Tom Brady unless things got so bad that he had no choice to do it. I think there was always the presumption that Tom Brady wanted to retire a Patriot and again the past couple of years. There's been a lot of turmoil in the building. Twenty years is a long time to spend working so closely with a ruthlessly driven coach like bill. Belichick there's one assistant who told me working one year with bill. We'll take a year off your life and Tom's been in that system for a long time and he's tired he wants to do something new. I think that's were Brady. Decided to take control of his story and changed things Brady starts talking about himself as an employee and I think this sense of unease sets in did that persist throughout the twenty nine thousand nine season. He's a professional bill. Belichick said professional once. They're they're they're going to do everything they can to win every week but the season for the Patriots was weird season. It was a weird season because their offense didn't pull its weight for the entire year and that's very rare especially the last half of Brady's career with the patriots as they become they become so much of a pass. Heavy offense dominated team you know. Obviously they had Antonio Brown pretty was very excited to play with him. They light up the dolphins with Brown in the lineup. Antonio Brown had been accused of sexual assault then. A sports illustrated article comes out detailing. All kinds of new allegations and Robert Kraft who says he doesn't involve himself in personnel and football decisions makes a decision organizationally that they're gonNA move on from him. Brady was very upset about that and I think bill belichick was upset about it too. They wanted to see what the offense could do with Brown and so I think that's one of those sort of hidden moments from the season that I think ends up becoming a bigger deal than it was because after that the New England Patriots is here without Rob Gronkowski. Just couldn't get a receiver as open as they were accustomed to in the past. And so the offense just didn't play very well into remember at one point in the season. It looks like the Patriots were. They were talking about going undefeated again and then they lose to Miami in the last game of the season at home and then they come out against the titans in the in the wildcard round of the playoffs. The Patriots were beaten up for most of the game and yet late in the game. The Patriots got the ball back and it just looked like they were going to recapture the magic. The magic that were so accustomed to seeing from Tom Brady. He hit a pass for about twenty yards. Got a little bit of breathing room and then the drive just stalled and on second down Brady threw outside of Julian Edelman white behind Brady Bunch. Before it was an out route join Dorset Britain dropped back. It was a route two oldest football. It's a route that these guys have run so many times over the years short set walks in on the side at the forty five yard line turning to run an element dropped the ball and even though that's not when the game ended it felt like the game ended right there. You could feel the air. Go Out of the stadium. You could feel the wind. Go out the New England patriots sideline it just felt that after twenty years after all those super bowls after winning and losing some of the greatest games in NFL history. This run was over. That's the way it felt to me. Tennessee titans have come into foxborough and defeated. Tom Brady and the pats twenty to thirteen in his wildcard. Rob You were there. What was brady like in the aftermath? I've seen Tom Brady. After a lot of losses I've seen him after a lot of season ending losses. He looks physically ill. After losing a game that ends their season but against the titans after losing game ended their season this year. He seemed different. Usually Tom waits a long time. The game to come to the podium and granted the game ended late but he came out of the locker room like a hurricane and he got to the podium and was in no rush to leave. He sat he chatted. There's nobody who had a better career I would say to me. I just being with them so I'm very blessed and I don't know what the future looks like so I'm not going to predict it so I wish you'd want tonight and We should done a lot of things better over the course season but we just tend to get the job done. It was just a different vibe that he put out there that I've ever seen before and when he left and he walked out. He just had a vibe that he was over it he was done.
Tua Tagovailoa's Recovery Shakes Up the NFL Draft
"Time last year to ten goodbye. Loa was the consensus number one overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft but when a devastating hip injury in November ended his season at Alabama his NFL future was cast into doubt now with new reports. That too is recovery is on track. Teams are debating whether his elite talent is worth the risk and the entire draft. Looks like mystery? I mean at times? It's Tuesday February. Eighteenth this is espn daily presented by ADT. Todd Todd mcshay is an NFL draft in college football analyst for ESPN so todd. The last time we saw Tunga Velo on a football field. He was getting started off with a hip injury and it ended his season and Alabama title hopes along with it. News broke last week regarding the status of his recovery. What we know now well first of all I was there that day and it was brutal to watch behind. He's down to us. Down Helmet came off. This is exactly what you did not want to see happen and I was probably ten. Maybe twenty yards away from him as the to. Mississippi state defenders converged on him. And you could just tell right away. Something was wrong but then I saw the bloody nose at first and they said the trainers got. The plastic wraps in there has the gloves on their hands and and I just thought all right. They're they're just taking care of his nose and he'll be done for the day and then he went to stand up and you could tell just how deep his knee drove his leg into his hip that something was seriously wrong so it's good to hear that he has passed his first test. If you will sources confirm to ESPN at the most recent tests show is healing well and has good range of motion to what could get back to football activities in a month if he continues to progress well and is now moving onto the second phase of of the Rehab and recovery stage. There's still a lot left to determine and there's still a lot of rehab to go so that's going to be the biggest thing in terms of his evaluation between now and late. April's draft is where is he? And what are the doctors really? Think about the long-term WanNa talk to you about his injury and the draft. And you know the time line for all of that but I I wanNA talk to you. About what a good football player he is because prior to that injury he was the base star in college football. And you've been watching him for a long time wind it I strike you. This guy's got this stuff how `bout that throw in the national championship talk. He had never started a game and now he's in the National Championship with the game on the line he was coming off of a bad play was able to shake it off. He's keeping his is down the middle of the field and he's working that safety just a little bit to the right. He's trying to move the safety as much as he can because if he does. He knows that he has Smith's breaking down the sidelines. The is move the safety just enough for him to go back to Smith and make the throw of the year. I mean he just knew the spot that he had to get it to and to come in the second half and to have the confidence to lead Alabama to a victory. That kind of told me everything about him. And from that point he kept developing. But if you go back and just really study his tape the things that make him special his deep accuracy is as good as you're gonNA say he's so quick twitch he's like a drew brees from the left handed side you know just how how works in the pocket and goes from one read to the next but keeps his is married to his feet. He fits what you want in today's NFL. But is he going to be healthy enough to with that hip recovery to to have that quick twitch nece and and the ability to to move as quickly as he has tie? You're around these players but also these programs. What did you hear about how to? Oh was handling the injury in his rehab process. Everyone loves him. There's a calmness and a poise about him that you rarely see with with college quarterbacks or any college player so. I'd like to leave you with this from one of my favorites McGraw songs. When you get where you're going don't forget turn back around and have the next one in line. Always stay humble and kind so confident but so humble talking. Nfl SCOUTS IN GM's not a negative word about him. He's a special human being and wherever he winds up going. He's going to be the face of the franchise obviously but he's kind of a culture changer if you will and and. I think that's part of the draw in part of his value. It's not just this injury right. He's had other injuries that have caused him to miss time. He broke a finger sprained. A knee injured his quad. The ankles even before all of this. How much of a concern with that? It's a big. It really is a big concern and the problem is if you study the history of it if you look back. I think it's the last ten years or seven quarterbacks that had college injuries there were first round draft picks that all of them have had some varying kind of durability issues in the NFL from Rg. Three to SAM. Bradford Shawn Watson Marcus Mariota Carson wentz Teddy Bridgewater Jake Locker. All of these guys have gone on to have injuries now. They're not always the same injuries. Some guys are are just injury-prone and just knowing. Nfl teams in the amount of time and the amount of studies that they do. Especially at this position. Especially with first round picks. That are going to cost you. When you're talking about quarterbacks in the top ten twenty to thirty five million dollars in guaranteed money they're doing the research on this and they all know this. You know your job over the course of these college football seasons you're not just evaluating these players you're thinking about where they'll be drafted if to ahead gun her at that point in the season where do you think he would have gone. I think he would be the first overall pick. I think if two was healthy Cincinnati would be taking to a number one overall. I really do if he didn't suffer that injury. We would be having a great debate between two a ton of Iowa and Joe Borough but ultimately my guess is that too would probably be the decision at Number One and knowing Cincinnati. They'd probably they do something to maybe move out of that spot. Make a mistake and let Miami or the chargers Carolina come up and get that pick. If I'm being honest he's he's better than Joe Borough and I love Jober but if you tell me these two guys are going to have ten year careers with no injuries. I'm taking two but then I've got a measure. R Joe Borough has been durable. Jost has shown the ability to kind of fight through pain a little bit more and to stay healthy and so. That's really the deciding factor. In my opinion I have to ask you know. Why do you think he's better than borough? I mean rose coming off of arguably the greatest season we've ever seen by college quarterback. What is it about two as game that you prefer? If I knew he was going to be healthy I think he just kind of fits a little bit better in terms of what what the NFL is today. Terms of getting the ball out quickly and being decisive and then also when you take shots down the field. But I I love Joe Borough to if I WAS CINCINNATI. I would take her over to because of the durability issues. Borough is worth the the first overall pick and I think Cincinnati would be making mistake if they didn't take jober tied. You have to take proof your analysis because you're gonNA get clipped saying to us better than Joe Borough and that's GonNa Follow you forever. You've been spending too much time around.

We're talking about when the guy with ski masks and the vest with no plates in it <hes> decides to shoot the food court we're talking about the ability to accurately returned and fire in an environment with maybe crowded with no shoots that where you may not have a full body tourists increase in tation of target oregon which is why the big focus for me draws <hes> on the four inch circle and a part of that comes back from the days <hes> <hes> <hes> when i used to be serious in our action pistol competitor he should be tough every year and people don't know about being e. Cup is it was originally started putting shooting programs and i think that i love she in fast. There's there are a few things in this world. I love more than just ripping bullets pop stuff but the longer i do this. The more that i realized that yes you need to be able to shoot fast because if you can shoot accurate control point to split you can shoot point three five point five displace nearly shooting fast is a very important skill but for defensive shooting for law enforcement types shooting. It's also important to be able to see indicate is where you don't out. Run your ability to ability to assess what's going on. You know it's you see things a lot swear in cop shootings and civilian shootings where people will just shoot the gun to slide lock as a panic response ernest talked about it in his classes where he says everybody here knows how to sheets fast you can everyone can make a gun out and beat up the trigger and shake all the bullets out of it really quickly being able to do that at a pace. Yes where you're in control of the gun and you're in control of the assessment. Process is a really tough skill and that's kind of what we've focused on. In precision defensive handgun is is being able to deliver accurate hits to very small target without out running your headlights <hes> and in my perfect and calebs perfect world i'd be able to i'd only ever teach this course places that had turning targets and the target goes away after a part time and if you fire shots after it goes away you you failed that assessment but there's there are ways to work into that and one of the big things that i've cheek in to building to this course is the training philosophy that they used out with in a lot of soka law enforcement agencies use this where they teach kate is the point three five point five splits because you can't outrun your headlights if you're shooting at that kate from shooting a half second split like in shoot and assess shoot assess shoot assess and then if suddenly i'm like oh. It's time to stop shooting this guy because he's falling down on the ground then dan. I don't end up shooting someone in the back or you know doing things that while they may be justified. Don't look are good. You know what i mean right. Well and i think the other thing too in in this is <hes> i've talked with kirk about about this and it's one of the reasons why i'm getting a double action only carry gatt built by ernest us and she brought him up <hes> <hes> once you get to a certain level it becomes incredibly difficult to miss at a point three five. You know like i if i if i have a mechanical limiter on my gun. <hes> and it's like oh you can only shoot three five now <music>. I would bet money that i'm knocking toss too many rounds you know and and not at the pierre gonna listen to those stupid and it's like now. I'll still run point one seven on a on a glock or whatever anything hit stuff. I'm not saying that you don't want to be able to do that. I'm just saying <hes> the forest emotional control isn't necessarily a bad thing thing. I don't know i've not fairly i've not fully formed this concept enough to probably be discussing publicly but here we are when i i absolutely agree with that and you know to reiterates exit earlier. You should be able to shoot controlled. You know point one seven point two slits whatever because that gives you the ability to shoot a point three five or point five or point four with absolute control you know if i can shoot shoot <hes> with my you know if i'm shooting of regular ninety two and i can shoot a bill drill in one point nine eight seconds run point nine point one nine splits on it if i now need to take that same gun and shoot three accurate shots to forage circle at the same distance with controlled splits where the penalty for missing is extremely high. I know i have the site of the ability to manipulate the trigger. Watch this. I can do all of that at a much at that pace successfully so i don't want people to get the idea that i'm like oh. You shouldn't practice shooting. That's stupid of course you should practice shooting shooting austin's cool but it has to be done you know if you're serious about defensive shooting any defense in context and this is important because a lot of people you know get the it's. I don't understand why competition shooters self-defense shooter you're still having this debate but in a purely defensive context there's a lot higher consequences for missing than there are at a match and it if you take the skills from a match election fast blitz and foster ambitions and applied into the real world you're ability to the point to split live at a target with a target with a hard news shoot on it suddenly becomes useful because now you can do it at like a point four split and <hes> hit the real world no shoe you know so. We don't want to feel lose the ability to shoot fat but you don't want to practice it in a vacuum. If in your goal for carrying a handgun is primarily defense well and that's a great thought to leave on because hey look at that or at the end of the show <hes> if people want to consume your media where can they do that. You can always follow me on facebook at <hes> <hes> caleb. Shooting is the u._r._l. Search for caleb getting go following my fan page. Don't send me a friend request because they probably won't accept it. <hes> really trying to not do a lot of that but in primarily the best way to consume media is youtube dot com slash done. That's media <hes> we post. New videos was every month ish sometimes to a month. Obviously the production schedules gonna be a little light for the next six or seven months but yeah <hes> we got a lot of content in a pair and there's a lotta old content to gene can watch my evolution as a shooter an instructor dude. I appreciate you coming on the show man.

"Right. The play before the controversial play I down roughly the twenty yard line. The saints half the bowl I stood at my Jared said why you passing and not running the clock in what are you doing? If they'd run three St. place. They would have blood the clock down. They would have tempted a game winning field goal that will look would have made. And none of. Controversy would have happened. So they blew that. They gave that away. How about the canc- chiefs yesterday? I think they won the coin flip. And they deferred. Why are you deferring and putting Tom Brady on the field? I against your defensives vulnerable rather than taking the lead at home with your number one ranked offense. Why is that? He's he's just they make mistakes beat themselves routinely and the patriots knew going into that game that. It's one thing to describe how effective the chiefs have been in terms of point score in the first quarter the numbers speak for themselves. They've been an unbelievable first-quarter team. And it just hard to come from behind in the NFL, but there's an emotional side of the patriots. I know were aware of going into that game that you have to find a way to withstand the blow. And I understand in a lot of things changed after that opening drive of the game. But I could not help. But think about the patriots playing in the Super Bowl against the New York Giants when they were the neighbors. They take the giants get that. I drive and I wanna say in the second Super Bowl. Maybe it was maybe it was the first time they play when the patriots time eighteen or no I wanna say the giants like a seven and a half minute drive that wound up in a field goal. But still Tom Brady. Randy moss. Wes Welker high powered offense off the field off the field. The game started at six twenty. They ended up touching the ball for the first time at like six fifty seven PM that night. Like, that's how you get a team off of its schedule. Bill Belichick did is giants defensive coordinator the Buffalo Bills and their number one ranked inch we've seen it happen time. Again is soon as the game starts, and they still run the book, you say, okay. This is what's going on? And we talked about teams giving away the chances or blowing games. How about the chiefs calling time out before the end of the first half to get Brady more time to score. Again. I mean, just just little little things that make the difference make mistakes. How often do you see the patriots make mistake? You know, what I made a mistake. They made a mistake in my. Cami on the final play the game, and it cost them homefield advantage and yesterday, Bill Belichick and the patriots atone for that. And wiped away that mistake and the meaning that mistake because that mistake made a Miami. Now means nothing New England is going to the Super Bowl. You know, it's pretty credible to I completely agree like that they are able to overcome the air that they do make and not to take this away from the tenor of his game. But just again, Sean McVeigh's gonna coach in the Super Bowl and everybody kind of wants, Sean McVeigh and part of what I think we have seen from Sean McVay, obviously that brilliant people steer towards is how great he is play color. But isn't part of what's made him successful head coach is what we're talking about right now that makes Bill Belichick a great head coach is situational football, not hurting yourself. Like all these teams are chasing, the offense of proficiency and stuff like that. Should they be chasing which teams most disciplined play within themselves? But also understand the moment. Like, it feels like the patriots just are they the most talented team. They've ever had able. No, no. But but I they they certainly have a strong self belief there..

"It's just turned to the left and stood there at the first bucket right in front of Tori have hacking made the catch second down and one on the wherever we are here on the twenty yard line of the lines of I formation the far side. Now shifting over to the near side goes gremlin run into the first I though it is way. Like pets gets the first down at the eighteen yard line. Great drug for the Milwaukee lanes right now just doing it with muscle, no passing just bus. And it shows that the LA ten vulnerable on these running plays, particularly Los Angeles football game. Not particularly through. We got two hundred savers a tight end moving to the near side to single Bank. The both the twenty yard line. I down ten twenty four seconds left in the first quarter trying to run to the right and fumbling. The ball is weighed light-touch picked up there by the quarterback number twenty two heck of the forty. He's gonna he's got a score for a touchdown. As like touches. Try to catch him five. Touchdown LA ten God. Damn you. Touch. Couldn't hold out of the ball was trying to run to the right side. He hit that corner blitz. Sure. Shit did. And it was him. Oh, Kaylynn on a corner blitz. Then picked up the phone will that he forced himself being chased by let touch got knocked off of his feet and ham. Heck, we know. Now leaves weighed like touching his dust. Fuck it. "I mean, I touched Johnson's week one something like that. Thanks a long. That is a long streak. He's still he's still has not had a game since week one week when he had one hundred twenty yards and a touchdown. That was by far is best game. He hasn't even come close to that. Which is crazy. You know, he was the number one tied in most people picked maybe two or three but very disappointing year. So it was nice see him ERT set another big game for the girls. He's probably the best in the NFL right now hammer, Kelsey, right? Yeah. It's one and two seven for ninety one and a touchdown for earth's. That's another good game. And you know, when you look at his upcoming opponents Redskins Dallas in the Rams. I mean, he might be able to do some damage. They're here as we approach the fantasy football playoffs. Okay. Do you want to move onto defense is sit out to you. Sure. Do you have any particular leaf? I do think it's pretty obvious right away. The ravens defensive touchdown and a special teams touchdowns. So you got two touchdowns from using them yesterday. They only give up seventeen points. They end the day at twenty three fancy points pacing the. The position. So what do you? What about you? There wasn't a lot of defensive efforts. But I had to get the chargers some credit is only allowed ten points and like other solid performance and Boso at an amazing game. So I give them the credit. But we take a break. Yeah. We we should take a break. When we come back. We'll talk about some players that were just underwhelming the duds of week twelve. We'll see who you know. Maybe we thought we're going to do. Well, maybe you thought we're going to do well and talk about those players, and and see if this might be something that lingers around or if it's just a one off..

"Great arm. Fabulous arm. Backer. Long time on their twenty yard line. So he can rip it. Bill check the coach of the patriots sang some of the things that we've heard from our Chris Simms who spent some time in New England Bill ballot. Check what the chiefs offense. Does by the way, the shows profootballtalk live NBC sports radio NBC our three good morning. Hello. How are you? That thing that a Patrick Mahomes does forces you to defend the entire field. Even as Bill Belichick said Chris Simms when you're on the twenty and there's eighty yards to defend you still have to defend it. That's the fascinating thing about this Kansas City Chiefs offense and the quarterback the formula in which they have. And I know this sounds like a bold statement. Okay. And whatever. But I mean, there are certainly in the conversation for going. I would go out of the offenses. I've seen since I've been in the NFL and been following the NFL closely. I would go I don't know if there's an offense that makes you defend Moore of the field than the Kansas City Chiefs, right Mike, I mean, yes, he just mentioned that you gotta worry about the sixty yards behind you as a safety to defend that because especially with Tyree. Hill who I think we would all agree is the fastest guy in football. But then what they do to you horizontally to right? I mean. Yeah. Okay. It's Travis Kelsey over the middle for fifteen and twenty yards. It's slant routes, but then it's speed suites by tyreek hill wide receiver screens on the outside to DNA, Thomas and tyreek hill and Sammy Watkins. And then it's oh, we forgot. They got a good offense align and they can smash it down your face with their power run game two. And that's where it's just really fascinating with this Kansas City Chiefs offense. And then when it all breaks down you get a chance to chase Patrick Mahajan chase him around. And he makes something happening throws a left handed if he has to get you're right. This is all the elements of every great offense. We've ever seen Chamdo into one offense. It is. It's it's it's amazing. And I don't think it's going to end with Andy Reid, his creativity and guy with this type of talent. And like you said it's I mean we've seen a number of plays this year. And I would just go to the Monday night football game. If you weeks ago with the Denver Broncos, the Denver Broncos. Defense. Played the perfect game. Perfect game. I walk away going for that gone, man. Their game plan was amazing. They got good pressure and on all those plays. They were supposed to win Mahomes one like more than his fair share them. And that's why they won the football game. And that's when it gets scary. That's when you get into the you know oh Aaron Rodgers category. Because you go damn defenses are calling the right play. And they have the actual schematic shutdown any still getting twenty and thirty yard gains. That's when you go. This is a special offense. Tom Brady understands what the challenge is going to be for the patriots on Sunday night. There's there's only so much you can do to slow down the chiefs offense. And ultimately the stat that matters is points scored versus points allowed. So the patriots offense is going to need to score more points. Tom Brady appearing on w e earlier this week explaining his understanding of the fact that a shootout is likely coming in Foxborough on Sunday night. When you look back at the first five games. We're just giving away too many scoring opportunity, you know, and that's limiting our our our points. And I thought you're the night we should have put fifty fifty two out there at least, maybe more. And when we were playing a team my Kansas City. You know, we got to take advantage every scoring opportunity because you know, they are. Now, Chris here's how I would would plan this. If I were the patriots. I would go run heavy Sony. Michelle short passes, the James white Julian long, slow controlled drives take as much time off the clock the Super Bowl twenty-five game plan really slow it down forced the chiefs to stand there. Keep that offense on the sideline get them. Frustrated make them feel like they have to press when they finally do get a chance to get on the field. And then when they do get on the field when you're defending the full eighty yards behind you when they're on the twenty focus on the back forty give them the underneath force them to sustain their dry. Right. And and and force them to be methodical force them to be patient force them to wait to get the ball take them away from that quick strike, go offense. I think that's your your best chance. Does does that make any sense whatsoever? No it does. It makes a lot of sense. I I do think it's the best ya especially when you talk about the patriots defense verse Kansas City offense. I do think that's the plan of attack. You will see for sure he's going to be more concerned about the huge play. Let me see if this rookie quarterback or second year quarterback that's playing for the first time can execute consistently on the road. Now, he showed us in Denver. He could do that. But I'm sure bills in the have a few tricks up asleep too. And the problem with Kansas City on offenses like the old Bill Belichick mantras we're going to take away the thing they do best. The problem is they have a lot of things they do best. And they have okay. You took tyreek hill away. But then you have to other matchups that you're going to be handicapped in with Kelsey. And Sammy Watkins the big thing is what you said about the patriots offense, Mike because. Yeah. The conventional wisdom would be. Yes. Run the ball control the clock. And I think that's what they will try to do. Just don't know of they'll run the ball. That's where I just second. Guess it. We've seen the patriots in big games like this where I go. I think they'll try to run the ball here. They still just get in the shotgun and go no Brady run the show. We have a good enough short passing game. Like we saw on Super Bowl forty nine. What they did to the Seattle Seahawks and what they did to the Atlanta Falcons and Super Bowl fifty one with keeping the ball and just death by you know, slow accuracy precision passing by Tom Brady. I think that's all we'll see at the end of the day because I feel like New England and big situations on the offense always just goes back. Let's give the ball the, Tom. Our offense has a lot of stuff that they have to defend and let's let him execute. And just pick them apart our focus on the point you made a minute to go about Bill. Ballot. Check having that mindset of taking away with the other team does best and we've seen that play out and some big spots. Remember Super Bowl thirty six. The strategy was to force the Rams to run by taking away the past March was too stubborn to run the ball. What do you take away from that chiefs offense? If there's something that they do best. What is it that you focus on taking away? If you're Bill Belichick. I think it is the tyreek hill factor. I think he is the guy you have to take away. Away, and you have to be conscious of because you're not safe. If you have put Jalen Ramsey on them is that what you do. I mean. Yeah. That was that was scary. I mean, there was a few plays to be had even in that match up where I think Patrick Mahomes, probably watch the film the next day. And goes, you know, I just got trust. Tyreek hill is gonna run by this guy and throw it out there for them. And I think that's what Bill will be concerned with more than anything. I think you're gonna see a safety rolled over the top the tyreek hill whole lot because he's in go man if this guy catches a slant route at six yards or catches the bomb at sixty it's six points. And then you're playing from behind against Kansas City, and Kansas City has the second best third down defense and football when they get you an obvious passing situations. Bob, Sutton, can be very creative and confusing for an opposing quarterback. One thing we need to look at is the week unfolds. And maybe we can take this up tomorrow. What has Sammy Watkins done during the course of his career against the patriots? Because he was with the bills for the first few years of his career because if you take away tyreek hill, leave Sammy Watkins and. Can Sammy Watkins step up and get it done yet? A hamstring injury against the Broncos on Monday night. He played on Sunday. So I. Curious about that. Because what would Belichick be willing to make that trade where okay, we're going to do everything we can to shutdown tyreek hill, we'll take our chances with Sammy Watkins can they do they know enough about Watkins where they could handle him single coverage and not worry about him destroying the game. But I think that it's just it's pick your poison the page overmatched. It's an overmatched defense against this offense. And you I think you just have to limit the amount of time right there on the field and try to make them impatient. Frustrated, I think so too in New England is really the only team I can think of in recent history that's capable of consistently going on ten play eighty are drives and scoring touchdowns. And the majority of the plays in that drive our passes because yes, they've had they got some good players like gronk and that'll men but their ability like we saw in the first drive of the colts game last week. How many screens and cute little five yard and underpasses that the New England pay. Patriots throw to get eight yards and ten yards and I down and touchdown. And that's what they're amazing at. They can execute that better than anybody. And I think that's what they're going to do. They're going to spread out Kansas City and go we don't think your secondary's that good. We think Tom Brady and our offense is really good. And if we have to go six yards at the time all the way down the field, we will. And I I would bet that would be New England's game plan. Does does the the fact that the patriots have a couple of extra days to get ready for this one? Is that a factor at all? I mean Bill ballot. Check was still going to come up with his game plan. But but does it help from your experience with the patriots to have those two or three extra days after playing on Thursday and then turned around and having a Sunday game? After that. I do I think it does. I mean, there's an extra day or really two extra days the coaches being in the facility Bill having another day of just wrapping his head around. Okay. Maybe I should try this or do that when they get in these certain formations are personnel sets very dangerous when he has a deal with Bill Belichick. I mean, he is the ultimate thinker in problem solver, and I would bet that yes, we're going to see some we're going to see a few unconventional defenses. And some big situations in this game stats, earning, his nickname. At least for another day tells us that Sammy Watkins against the patriots in four games has fourteen catches one hundred and eighty three yards. And a touchdown. I mean, that's that's good. Not great. But he's going to have opportunities. I think if if the patriots plan is to take away tyreek hill there will be chance for Sammy Watkins big game on Sunday night. And it should be a big game on Sunday night. It should be a great game. Pompon Sunday night. And if the if the patriots win this one, and it starts that. Here's the thing. This is why this game so important for the chiefs. We've seen teams each of the last three years start five the falcons did it in twenty fifteen the Vikings in two thousand sixteen and the chiefs in two thousand seventeen and the chiefs went from five to six and six so I and they're very conscious of the importance of continuing to push Patrick Mahomes told me that a couple of weeks ago after they beat the Steelers Travis Kelsey has talked about it on this program and elsewhere, they understand the importance of continuing to push and not falling into the rut that they fell into last year. And this would be a great way to do it. Tell everyone that hey, we can still compete with the patriots. We beat them last year week one. We can beat them this year week six and we'll see what they can do. Women return hall of fame quarterback. Troy Aikman with some candid comments about the current. Dallas. Cowboys starting quarterback will tell you what Aikman had to say. And we'll get Chris Simms. Take on whether or not Aikman's overall philosophy on quarterback play. Has any merit in? This specific instance. We'll do that one PF to live continues. Right after this..
