ECB pushes out rate hike and offers new loans to banks

"The debate absent a new series of targeted. Long-term loans will be called tau truck three. Let's the why. Did. Whatever. Simple the banks as they are everywhere. But particularly in European credit pro-cyclical when you get a slow down they pull back on lending cap the lending picks. They haven't cleared their problems the warriors in Europe. When you get a mild, slowdown, all whatever you think. This slowdown is in Europe to the banks will ultimately pulled back, and it will pull back even more. So because these rounds of cheap funding to mature the previous rounds, and therefore the wants to get ahead of that. I would consider this a preemptive measure stimulative mesh, which is ultimately the problem the right guidance. Maybe you consider that to be stimulative. They have moved the right guidance out saying they won't hike rates essentially at any point through two thousand nineteen saying they will keep rates on hold at least three twenty nine thousand nine previously. The right guidance was through the summer of two thousand hundred I would also say that's marginal. I'd say this is largely reflected in your dollar right now down a couple of ten to one twelfth eighty six. I understand. There's a volatility here. You can optimistically say euro is range-bound backdrop Tober, but the fact. The two thousand nine hundred vector for Europe ain't so hot. So twenty nine minutes time we to get the forecast from the president will deliver them for growth forecasts. But we're going to get a justification. It's going to be to see how much those forecasts were downgraded by and how much optimism the president has

"He comes back in a big way and twenty nine minutes. He gets nineteen points, ten rebounds, four of which were offensively second in the big east and offensive rebounding. Joe he goes nine for nine from the free throw line. And that has got to be a new that ties a career high made free throws who he happened to to make against Georgetown last February. So it's something about the Hoyas that brings the best out in tyreek Jones going the extra mile performance. Award is presented by Nissan. The Nissan rogue one solid defender Nissan. A proud supporter of college athletics. Travis deal was made his way to our broadcast booth. So it's time for the Toyota post game wrap up with coach. Traffic steel, presented by your Cincinnati. Northern kentucky. Toyota dealers. Coach, congratulations. Thank you. Thank you. As a big win for us. You know, be shorthanded without cumin guys really really stood up to the task Georgetown's, really good, man. They're talented Jessica van he's a tremendous player. But I was proud of our guys competed getting got down early federal was really good. I thought our guys stuck with it. You know, we always say, it's forty minute wards, forty minutes of war out there. And I thought I was really proud of the way our guys rebounded in the second half. And in late in the first-half coach down seventeen in the first half where everything seems to be it was going in a wrong direction. How'd you keep your guys together? What were you telling them in the in the huddle you finished off the second half of the twelve overrun run with about four minutes to go. He had all the Bowman. I'm going in at half time. And then he just kind of picked up where you left off the care you in the second half. But I thought that pivotal point about three minutes to go in the first half when you guys finish. Based on such a high run. How'd you keep your guys in it when you were down by so much early or late in the first half? Try try to challenge those guys. And I felt like we're making a lot of defensive affairs and may demand within our system there. There's the beginning of the first half. And I thought they got some great looks at again give Georgetown credit. They've got a really good team. But I was just frustrated with our with our defensive performance in the main area in on the glass 'cause Georgetown a tremendous rebounding team. But again, I didn't think we were blocking out blocking out takes no town takes discipline and the toughest to do it. Right. And I thought our guys responded I thought the two three zone was really really effective as well there at the end of the second half really helped us get on around coach at halftime. You were being outrebounded twenty two to sixteen at the the ball game. You win that battle thirty six to thirty two. Yeah. You know, I thought Zach Atari Kevin those guys together was was really good, man. We try to.

"Dan, Abraham was patient here and donated a significant portion of the money required to build this facility. Right. If you're someone who's newly retired from being a surgeon, you can hang out there. More often than you do. Getting people started though, I think is the first time is always easy. Because you're all excited you're going to start this new thing. But then maybe the second time is when the wheels fall off, correct? And I think what we do is. We set ourselves up for a little bit of failure. So the new year rolls around and we start with these big huge Adeje goals that I wanna lose five hundred pounds in the next two weeks. And of course, that's not realistic. I tell people we start very small, and we get that goal or we try and experiment. And we learn from that. And then we wreck it up a little bit for the next portion. So I even had one client that said I have a one pound weight loss. Go and I said one pound. I mean, you're hearing here, right? And she said, well, I know because of failed so many other times that if I start really small with us one pond goal, which seems ridiculous. But she knows something that's achievable. And then you know, maybe it's the next couple of weeks. I can say okay now, I'm gonna go for two pounds and work my way up from there. So making sure that we don't have too big of a goal to start off with seems to help. That's exactly what I was gonna ask you give an example of a small goal. And you could always just say I've got a one pound goal. And you just continue to have a one pound goal. You got it. Yup. And I just keep adding next week. It's another eight pound goal. Any other suggestions for small goals that people could consider? So I always ask people say, well, you know, how much time you have to devote for exercise, and they say, well, I've got ninety minutes every single day. A really you live in that wonderful world that we all dream about. Of course that and I say, well, what if we start with a third of that let's sort of thirty minutes, and then I counsel them and say, well, if you can't make thirty minutes today, twenty nine minutes, still pretty good. And if if twenty nine doesn't work twenty eight is still pretty good there. And so maybe it only. Becomes I can I can only make it for five minutes today and just knowing that a little bit of five minute movement is going to be beneficial much more than if you just said skip it I'm going to go sit on the couch. Instead when somebody first comes to you someone new how do you approach the first meeting? Sure, so we do intake when people come through our program at the healthy living center, we also work with wellness coaches. So that's a really nice person have kind of in your corner, and they're kind of approach to health and fitness is much different than most peoples because they're not telling you what to do. So I come from the I'm going to tell you what to do after we find out a little bit about you. And they say, well what is your goal? And how can I help you achieve that? And so we do a lot of different assessments to give people a good baseline. Now. He's council people say, you know, take a look at the scale take a look at some measurements. And see we're at but then don't necessarily focus on those pieces focused on the outcomes focus on that journey. To getting to whatever that goal may be. And then you'll find out it takes a lot of the pressure off from having to meet that scale on a daily basis, what are some of the common pitfalls that people will encounter. There's so many. You know, the big goal is number one the kind of overextend themselves and then not still bringing those small little successes. I think too so. My goal or my experiment today was to make it to the gym five times this week. But I only made it four. Well, that's impressive. Yeah. But I didn't get it didn't make my goal. So now, all of a sudden, I've got this kind of negative self talk and missing out on the point and celebrating the I made it to the gym four times this week or made it outside four times this week. Is it a good idea? If you're going to start an exerciser a wellness program that you see your physician, I is there any reason. I shouldn't I would love for you to go see your physician absolutely because there's so much things that we don't know about that's going on inside of her body. You know, I can't tell what my glucose is right now or if I have high blood pressure. So getting that little check Mark, and that little stamp of approval from your physician, I think is very beneficial. And again, you can find some of those kind of baseline numbers. So that when you come back in six months or another another year you can against celebrate those small successes saying I went to the gym. I got my exercise session. I got my movement session. And and look at what it's done to my blood pressure. Or my glucose, according to my show prep year. Eighty percent of people will have quit there. Exercise goals by February. Do you agree with that? Yeah. That's unfortunate. And we're trying to change that we're trying to get that number down and down and more. And a couple of different things we can do to help that is with everybody else together. So finding an exercise partner is always beneficial. Yeah. No. I'm looking at you. Yes. Jen and I- producer Jenin, I are lifting partners. We lived together. But we are about to become your accountability. People because you are going gonna come with us. I'll be there in February because it won't be so busy that is true. All right. What are some other ways that we can flip that and be part of the twenty percent instead of the eighty percent funding? Some that you really enjoy. So a lot of people say, well, I have to go to the gym again today and reframing that saying well, not only do I get to go to the gym. I'm gonna go do something enjoyable, so whether that's listening to an audio book popping in front of Netflixing aware on the treadmill. Finding something that you enjoy doing it consistently is more important than getting on the treadmill running for five miles. It's not for everybody. But finding something you really enjoys. I think the most important piece when you do choose to golden exercise when you outlined a program for somebody. Do you base it on how long they have to exercise or do you say, you know, what we got at least with twenty minutes or how do you decide how long enough? Yeah. So the current recommendation right now is about one hundred and fifty minutes of movement throughout the week. And so again, one hundred forty nine minutes, you're probably doing okay. But you know, if you can only do five minutes a day or ten minutes day, but still so much better than. If you can't do it all, and we know from research that people who are still struggling with the scale or obese and overweight. Those people that exercise actually much better off when it comes to their overall health, and fitness and the people that are skinny and don't do any exercise. So every little bit does help if you've been someone who gets zero percent of that one hundred fifty per week. Maybe starting that high is not where you wanna go. Correct. So kind of slowly increasing it over time is wonderful. So maybe it comes back down to exercise for one minute today. You know, I'm a Trump on the treadmill for one minute. Probably when you're there. You're gonna say one minute was pretty easy can probably add a couple more. And that's my little sneaky way of increasing your overall exercise, I kind of liked that. There was a for a long time about ten percent rule is you don't want to increase your overall kind of activity level greater than about ten percent. But researchers really shown that we don't necessarily need to adhere to that as much. So what's the best tip that you have used to help people something that you find that works for a lot of your clients. I would say overhaul is finding what you like to do. And then keep doing it. So we are lucky that we get to see people who are over eighty nine years old. And you ask them you're still here number one, which is wonderful. But number two, what's your secret for success? And it's really as well. I don't go out and run a marathon every single day. But I do go walk for twenty minutes or thirty minutes. I do that most days of the week. How often do you have someone come up to you and say, I can't thank you enough. I feel so much better, and I've lost X amount of pounds. I you have as fairly frequent. It's a very frequent. Yes to and I wanted to my own horn. But yes, it is. It is wonderful to hear those accolades that we get, and that's what really kind of propels us in the fitness industry to kind of keep going is those kind of constant success stories that we do here. All right. Well, keep up the good work. And we'll see at the dog. We've been talking about ways to get moving to be healthier in the new year with Tom Rick. The mayo clinic healthy living program. Thanks for joining us. Tom. Thank you so much for having me. That's our program this week. You've.

So be sure to stick with us to hear all about it after the show. Hey, it's Jefferson Graham with USA day on talking tic today. Caroline lesley. Direct from Toronto. She's got a chat Hitchin pergram on cap. Hold squad. It's a little unusual and Carolina's gonna tell you all about it Carolina. Hi, thanks for having me. Thanks for being here. All right. So yes a dip squad. It is a first of its kind. So it's on what pad tap in. After those that aren't familiar tap is a subscription based app. That's part of what had that's the you're consuming stories through texting SMS chat story. So it's voyeuristic you feel like you're kind of fly on the wall. And so the for so this is the first of its kind. I did I was show runner on ditch squad, which is basically gossip girl meets pitch. Perfect. And it's a show about to be FF's you compete for one spot on high school acapella team. Now, what's cool about the story is this is got. All kinds of media sprinkled throughout it. So there's voice notes. There's smales. There's FaceTime calls, and there's even original music, which is a first for for tap story to have original music. So I cast it and produced it in Toronto, and they team up with my writing partner who's actually based in San Francisco, and it just launched on tap said it's exciting. So how long are the stories and how many other yes? So for ditch squad. It's about twenty nine minutes of consumption. But that's if you just do it from end to end its ending as well, which I think if we're about to mention, so there's eight parts if you go straight through, and you don't go back and do a different ending men. It'll be about twenty nine minutes by it could be up to an hour and a half. If you go in, you know, different choices in different endings as you go. So what made you intrigue by the world of chat fiction? Yeah. You know? I I have a background is a content creator and producer and writer on an actor and back to Toronto after being in the states for ten years when I got here. I heard about tap. And I thought wow, what a cool new way to consume content. You know, it's kind of a unique time for the entertainment business. And I thought well, this is disrupting things. But I do take photos down at the beach. And then I do a lot of portrait's. Which beach. Are we talking about in Canada? Yeah. It's called balmy beach. So it's in the beaches area of Toronto. So you get a few of the tower. It's on the east end in. It's it's a lovely little community. And it is beautiful. There's some rocks out there. You can go out onto the pier. NC L downtown. But it's we don't get the sunrises and sunsets. That you guess, no. But you get the seasons which we don't have though it is right now Santa Anna season. So we're getting some pretty amazing sunsets. You know them. Well, we're getting the fall leaves. I'm looking out my window right now. And there's some beautiful yellows and reds. So you're you're right. We get that. Where can people see your work your photos? Oh, yes. So if you go to Caroline Lesley photography that CRO L. I N E L ES L E Y, photography dot com. "It seems as if it's taking. Longer to get to work and get home. That's because it is commute times are on the rise in Massachusetts. If you drive every day, you already knew this. But let's get some facts now. Ben Parker speaking to drew Karlsson with AAA. It should be no surprise that. The average commute in the bay state now registers twenty nine minutes up from twenty seven point three minutes. Back in twenty ten overall Massachusetts has fifth longest average commute in the country, including the third longest single occupant vehicle commute. How did we come up with these numbers? I mean, obviously, we didn't just stand there with a stop watch and watch all of the computers go by. But what what was the methodology here is this study from our AAA northeast and its analysis of the twenty ten to twenty sixteen US census data, which is the latest figures available. So that twenty nine minutes a day one way commute. And that's, you know, drivers were asked how long they're one way commute is, you know, from your home to their work. Is there any correlation between jobs where people have to go for jobs as to how far they have to drive. I mean, it seems like there there might be relatively low unemployment rate right now. -chusetts show with more drivers on the road and more people go to work, you know, obviously that's going to cause more congestion. So it's really about how we invest in infrastructure, and you know, public transit. So we went public transit isn't always available to people or it's not always the best option. A lot of times. These folks will use ridesharing apps or something like that. And it will cause more congestion getting into the city, certainly there's a lot of of of driving throughout Massachusetts. There's there's certainly the hot spots in Boston. Of course, would be a one of those hot spots in Boston is actually ranked the seventh most congested CD in the US. And a recent reports that impart has to do with the increase in all of the Uber vehicles across downtown Boston. We will have another check of your commute. It's busy. It always is coming up with Mike king here on WBZ. We also have Jeff Brown. Joining us.

"Seven six five talk is the phone number with utility o'clock tonight and we've got a lot to get to on a programme woah a run into the polls when we get back and also break down the other happenings in the big 12 this weekend and of course a couple thoughts on at first blush this baylor football team the mountaineers will take on coming up on saturday so join us on the phone lines or you can text us your thoughts maybe tell us what you think was the most impressive thing about the mountaineers come from behind a victory yesterday i think reagan are both an agreement it was the defensive turnaround for the mountaineers over the final twenty nine minutes when we talk about that as i mentioned will greer david sills carly leaving insead of a layup after this weekend a greer is tied for the insead emily lead touchdowns thrown sills is the touchdown leader and receivers and he's got a pretty healthy lead right now in that category so we'll talk about that i tell you what if if this keeps up then west virginia might have their first blip cough award winner ever in school history yeah well they had one came pretty close stand on the sidelines of his arm and a sling yesterday's kevin white was there but yeah i mean daves putting up just incredible numbers again with what he's doing but i tell you what if you look in his numbers in rural is where he is half way through season it makes you appreciate seven bill a bit more because he's he's he's trying to chase dedmon bellies are record for most touchdowns in a season what halfway point in the season he's still not halfway there but he's already second in school history in singleseason touchdown catches so that tells who kinda your statement at two the arrest wealth yep absolutely our break we'll be back with you after this break there are some link for us to imagine a world without coal piece teething try city who can then let's look like without coalbased power plants we wouldn't have from liable in the tracy tracy prices will rise local communities would lose jobs in our national who come with some so yes we can imagine a world without coal it's pretty scary police.

"She's got a little future richard there's some nice chemistry here with bark robert but overall it's just another one of those movies that's monotonous the same thing happens over and over anthony hopkins is in this movie and it's good it's good to see him so there were a couple of moments that i thought grab my attention but here's the bottom line for me paul with movie like this and people need to know this is a too who and a half hour movie before the credit you get the credits or another try fifteen minutes but before you get to the credits two hours in i think twenty nine minutes up yup i as i wrote my parent review i said look this is like don't like good popcorn movies like good action good craziness and we're i won't kind of get story of ask for from time to time but this is like if you took your popcorn you air pocket you had got half hopped with your feet nobody know so that's kind of odd this one works out it's never lived up to even being a good popcorn movie i'm gonna give it a c maybe see mine is somebody generous on the curve with a see what about you oh i'm going to be generous and apathy minority plus in my book i all there you go on the same page there next week i know things are going to get a little bit better next week because there's a movie opening up called baby driver have you seen that yet i haven't seen that get better that's for sure ed your rights new movie john ham st louis guy in that playing against her i you will different roles for him and jamie fox i look forward to talk about that next week also despicable me three which i hope is better than despicable me too it's gotta be better right that was terrible movie it was a really good as the first one was the second one was just as back and the direction well it still is better than transformers well actually that i don't know about that on the effort because that second despicable me movie was one of the big major disappointments from a few years back.
