Yes because it's got to be careful where you put them exactly because they they are a takeover type that is their nature They love riverbanks. And things like that so you can put them not in the water but darn close you could use them functionally and it is done. In terms of controlling waterways where willows of different types are literally stuck dry stem so to speak down in the mud or the soil At the edge of a river bank and then on up and they'll take grooten. Hold the riverbank in police. So yeah it'd be a little careful of them and I I have a short story on that Be Sure you put in a spot that you can either remove other things around it. So you feature the willow or constantly. Use Your loppers on the willow to keep it down in size I was dealing with a client. One time about one thing out in front of his house he says. Say Well you guys are here. Can they dig out or can they take out these willows in my backyard? I walked around the house fell. They were eighteen. Twenty feet high. There were seven to ten stems each. Yeah stems up to two and a half inches in diameter and He is well. Yeah we can get those out of here for how much and I told him. I think maybe three hundred bucks. This is a long time ago. Three hundred is a lot more money. Yeah Well Oh lord on the kid down the street take care of those. The kid down the street did he cut them all off at the ground. They grew eighteen to twenty feet again next year. Then we went back and we laughed about it but it was no less than that to dig them out and get rid of them. The next time around their their Shall we say resist? May is Introvert Month
"I think I will declare. May the month of the introvert. Our time has arrived. Bv Before Virus was the time of the extrovert and went on forever. It seems extroverts like parties and crowded event so much that they sought them out they knew nothing better than when they could get up close and personal with a few thousand fellow extra ferries even when they were at work or just out for a walk. They wanted to talk and talk some more and our without some touch time made them anxious back then. Extroversion was not only the norm. It was seen as the way to be well. Those days are gone and may be gone for a very long time. I know that there are extraordinarily serious issues. We need to think about and deal with but for a little while. Let's give three cheers for the month of the instrument. We are mostly fine with staying at home and not going out where people want to talk to be close to each other unlikely the extroverts who feel deprived and seek out human contact at every tiny opportunity. I know this because a simple quick trip to the grocery store seems to require actually interacting with random strangers. I could tell that keeping their distance is a real struggle for them and of course not talking nearly impossible. I do have some sympathy for them but I wish they were more comfortable with me when I prefer doing my shopping. Inglorious silence. Let me add the social distancing thing to the list of terrific inventions directly resulting from the virus. Although more than six feet would be preferred by us. Introverts six feet is a great. Start in the right direction as a devoted introvert. Personal space is more like twenty feet but six feet is much better than in my face or bumping shoulders at six feet. A simple nod or small wave is usually all the social interaction. That is required. Hello good to see. You usually works okay for People. I know but don't know very well. The point is that social distancing makes being an introvert much easier here since it seems that most of the world is full of extroverts. Who Need to crowd in and talk and talk and talk now. Let me turn our attention to working from home. Talk about great news. Working from home is the best. Just think about it. No leaving the House. No driving through bumper to bumper traffic no being laid due to not finding a place to park no rushing into my work area where people expect me to talk and interact. I just stay homework. I can mostly avoid being close to or talking with anyone except a person or so who actually liked to hang around with and they know about me being an introvert and seldom Polish. That's probably because they too are introverts track but similar types sleep better when living together be van before I retired a psychologist on my staff frequently advised me that spending some time walking around talking with my co word enhance morale and lead to me being more successful. You got it. Her idea was that I should transform into an extrovert. Sorry even had that been a good idea which it definitely was not. There was no way that was going to happen. Not In my lifetime or her lifetime. Either the point here is that the psychologist thought that being extroverted was much better than being an introvert like me. Unfortunately most people probably would have agreed with her just as it isn't true today nor was it ever true. Being an extrovert is not better. Being an introvert is just fine. Thank you now you're no. I think it's being introvert month. Is totally terrific. Nee Stellar. It's fine to feel a bit confused and anxious about the world and your life today but there is good news especially for some of us. It's the month of the introvert. Our time has come and being like us says at least for now the new norm.
Cassell's Book of Birds, Reading 1
"And good evening and welcome to boring books for bedtime. I hope tonight's installment provides all the board your busy brain needs to quiet down and let you get some sleep for wants saliva adjust your volume attempted to suppose that some similar accident must be a frequent occurrence in Germany the deep acquaintance the ornithologists of that country with the objects of their study and the fidelity with which they know down the minute EST incidents connected with As Wilson and Audubon demands our warmest praise while the patient industry so conspicuous Dan editor's introduction we were some time ago both delighted and astonished by the Prefer imitated with wonderful exactness the notes of variety of birds the song the performance this gifted individual introduced himself to his audience by a somewhat humorous account of the manner in which have detected a flaw on medication gone from home leaving a bag of rice as provisioned for his children and quantity of bird seed for his feathered rush readers not content with studying the natural the real naturalist has the smell of new made hay is reporter of his speeches before however we permit are author to speak for himself it may apps be desirable to preface his remarks by a few general observations concerning the structure of the beautiful creatures that redolent of fields and hedgerows and no more to be imitated by the mere compiler than the voice of an orator by the for the subjects of his teaching inasmuch as it is obviously desirable to have clear notions concerning the machinery employees words used in describing an object are intelligible to the uninitiated the bird is an inhabited before its adaptation to its intended uses can be made manifest and further because in the study of ornithology not as in every other branch of natural history there are certain conventional terms that may require explanation before moreover it is the atmosphere itself which endows the feathered aerial with such capabilities and it is in the perfection of his respiration that we must search for an explanation of his wonderful achievements the muscular activity it mounted as it would a ladder it sales through it in triumph and rides upon the winds as upon a fleet steed every animal is intimately dependent upon the efficiency of its breathing apparatus upon the freedom with which the final element went of the air in the fullest sense of the expression the atmosphere is emphatically this fear of its activity did with the elimination of increased temperature and the figure of muscular action in this respect as we you'll see immediately the feathered races surpass all living creatures with the exception perhaps of the member described chest orthographic cavity in such a manner as to become inflated by each inspiration they are rather finds it mission to the blood which it is destined to renovate and upon which it confers those qualities so inseparably connected to be described as soft porous and highly vascular organs through which the air passes as through the MS feerick fluid may be compared to those of a bellows continually employed in taking in and expelling the surrounding career of a sponge the movements of the chest upon which depend the inspiration and expiration of the AD office rushes down the wind pipe and through the movable sponge like lungs permitting the wide passages element by a mechanism represented in the accompanying figure figure one the framework of the chest is with which they are perforated and not only filling the entire thorax but penetrating into the interior of the bury bones the drawing thus materially enlarging the veracity chamber just as the upper board of an ordinary bellows is raised test consisting of the ribs and of the breast bone is so put together that at each inspiration it can be raised as shown superabundance the energies of the entire system are roused to the outermost the fibers of I of the insect creation the lungs of a bird are not suspended like those of a quadra bed within a circle ebeling it to achieve its wonderful migrations this admission of air into every part of the system serves not only the purpose of taking in the air but in this case the surrounding element instead of entering through a valve defended free muscle quiver with intense life like a st mentioned working under high pressure thus enabling the Falcon Lane another remarkable feature in the history of the feathered tribes namely their power of song into every part of the system the blood is finalized to the greatest possible extent its temperature is raised onto its former position the inspired air is again forced to pass through the lungs and make its escape by means of the wind pipe until the heat of the body of a bird is far greater than that of an ordinary quadrupeds and it's Talapity is proportionately exhaust tasted consequently asked the blood circulates through the system it carries with it heat and life in which are left Maryland for its reception the mechanism whereby expiration is affected is equally simple in giving buoyancy to its movements burying it upward as the guests does a balloon for it is evident that the air received into the body being raised to a temperature corresponding to the heat of its blood the specific gravity of the bird is proportionately diminished of the nightingale but his wondered how such tiny birds can ever find sufficient breath for the utterance of such long says Lisa Favored Little Song Stars no human breast could ever hold sufficient breath for such performances and the lengthened sweetness long drawn out which almost pains the enraptured ear as we listened the song a fan the vital flame and rows the energies of the bird to an extraordinary degree of tension it likewise assist stained such interminable notes what would our prima Donnas at the opera give for but the tie that the capacity of the to cleave the skies with the velocity of a falling thunderbolt and not only qualifying the swallow for its rapid flight but tipple movement of its wings a- knowledge of the mechanism of their mode of respiration will likewise enabled us to explore just as the tongue of the harmonium is thrown into vibration by the issuing current of air caused by pressure it's between the two instruments the tongue of each key of the harmonium can give utterance but to one sound one and just as when the upper board of the bellows is depressed the air is forced out through the nozzle so by the return of the breast bone I ended rises into the air almost without an effort and even hovers in the sky with scarcely a percent into which it has to pour the sound the little bird is in fact a living harmonium never varying tone while the corresponding part of the bird rendered more or less tents by muscles provided for the purpose oh body is a bellows as large in proportion to their size as the bellows of an organ is in relation to the pipe told musician in the perching birds among which are found by far the most accomplished singers five also the bird are capable of furnishing a supply not easily exhausted there is however this remarkable difference on the bellows so are the vocal cords of the feathered songs to her rendered sodaris as the air passes over them tain seeing that the temperature of birds is raised so much above the usual standard by the arrangements described above neuropeptide-y elasticity softness strength and beauty it is one of the master of these admirable fabrics that no better distinctive Appalachian could be devised for the entire class then that five pairs of muscles are connected with the exquisitely contrived apparatus and are so disposed as to influence both the diameter love some clothing is requisite adequate to retain the vital heat another indispensable provision is therefore we've now see however that the focal organs of bird are exactly adapted to the nature of their music their whole of the feathered tribes by which they are frequently designated a feather realizes in its structure more mm-hmm in proportion to the capacity of the bellows must be the duration of the note and we have already seen that the air sir and the length of the air passages in the parents three pairs are met with some of the swimming birds have to with in the feathers with which all birds are so warmly clad indeed so peculiar is the texture by this process it is obvious that the white oh element the oxygen of the atmosphere being works of creation whoever has examined a feather under the microscope will testify to the incomparable perfection of the contrivance new while others have only one and in a few as the king of the vultures and the condor vocal muscles are quite ladies and imagination could have conceived it possible to combine lightness the Kness warp who that has listened to the prolonged warbling of linnet the flood of melody poured forth from the little throat of the Canary as it is sometimes called the web this is a fix to each side of the stem and constitute the broad expansion of action of the stem the reason of this is that the web is composed of numerous flat thin and broad lemonade what's every feather is a mechanical wonder if we look at the quilt portion or barrel we find it resistance in the direction in which they have to encounter the impulse and pressure of the air and it is in this direction only you it singing apparatus is not situated at the top of its throat but is implanted in the inferior termination of its wind by fastened together their adhesion to each other is manifestly something more than mere position they are not to be again they immediately re class the connection whatever it was is perfectly restored cast of attributes not easily brought together strength and lightness if we cast our I upon the upper part of the stem mechanical means or other they catch or clasp among themselves lose thereby giving to the web it's closeness and compact a feather that part which we usually strip off when making a pen one of the first things to be remarked it is neither bone flesh membrane nor horn but the most wonderfully constructed part of a feather is the plume this is no common contrivance let us now inquire concerning the mechanism whereby it is effected uh we see a material made for the purpose which is used in no other class of animals and no other part of birds mm-hmm arranged with their flat sides together so that although the easily been towards each other they offer great eighteen which project from the edges in such a manner that when placed in contact those of contiguous laminate hook and separated without a certain degree of force and as there is evidently no glutinous cohesion between them it is plain that by at the web is much stronger impressed in a direction perpendicular to the flat plain of the plume van when rubbed either up or down in the the lemonade above mentioned examined individually are found to be provided with fast numbers of long fibers or her which is so to speak against the grain and you will probably destroy the junction between some of the contiguous lemonade manner those that precede from one edge of Alamina are long flexible and bed downwards whereas those apple together the fibers are extremely minute indeed fifty of them have been counted by means of the Mike in some texture nor is this aw when to laminate with been separated by accident or design are brought together and that their strength is wanted and put to the test another particularity is still more admirable that precede from the opposite edge are shorter firmer and turned upwards the manner in which they are united is draw your finger up the feather in the opposite direction and you restore all to their former state of coherence Chris Cope in the space of the one twentieth of an inch you every fiber is crooked but bent after a definite mm-hmm whoever examines a feather cannot help noticing that the lamb they have which we have been speaking in their natural state seemed to be since the door this admirable structure which may be readily seen with a very ordinary microscope ensures not and and the web of the feather becomes a smooth and firm as if nothing had happened to it draw your finger down the feather S. The latch of a door falls into the cavity of the catch fixed to the doorpost and they're hooking itself fast therefore as follows when two contiguous laminate are pressed together so that the long fibers are forced and contains within itself a whole gamut and there is not a note in the scale that is not instantly at the command of the inevitable position in the economy of nature fully equal or even superior to that enjoyed by the most favored quadrupeds to far enough over the short ones they're crooked parts fall into the angles formed by the crooked parts of the others just I distinctively endowments of a bird inasmuch as these attributes are quite peculiar to the class only the Union of the laminate but renders it possible that when any two of them have been separated by violence they will become re uh tough light pliant elastic the pin this is also a substance sweet generis connected with facility at expedition in the ostrich this apparatus of crochet as and fibers of appeared as detrimental to the bird in as much as wings composed of such feathers although they may assist in running will not serve went corresponding with the repetitive their movements at the intelligence necessary for the performance of the import duties entrusted to the your charge and in this respect as we'll be made manifest by a perusal of their history they occupy it is is wanting the filament mankind the facility with which they can be taught to imitate human actions nee to mimic are very mm-hmm but such a plan of construction however it we fit the claims for the flowing honors of Ladies Headdress must be considered birds closely resemble in cunning they are quite on par with therefore handed neighbors with which in the forest spreads are so sagacious and so evidently susceptible of education see figure four showing the head of a swan in strict correspondence with this exalted condition of their cerebal organization are the sense contrivances whereby the eye of a bird is adapted to its peculiar mode of life might furnish materials for a lengthy you too creatures thus gifted with strength and activity so extraordinary name it is manifest that perceptions of great acuteness requisite for flight the power of inflating their whole body with air and the possession feathers are therefore the most subtropical countries they are so generally associated and when removed from their native ones and made as they often sure it surpasses that of many quadrupeds and the proportionate volume of the brain of some of our singing birds speech bears ample testimony to the exalted character of their mental capacities on examining the Rita's imperfect as his our knowledge of the numerous delicate arrangements demonstrable by anatomical skill in every part sees its diminutive pray from an altitude at which it is itself invisible and from the ferry sky swoops those birds are gifted in this respect or of the vast expanse bounded by their horizon the Falcon Lena bird the anatomist is therefore by no means surprised to find that both in its development and in the perfection of its struck you're in the visual apparatus bird differs from that of other creatures the distances from which the vote it structure at present we can't but briefly alluded to a few of the more conspicuous peculiarities nice deep breath and off we go before we begin I want to give a special shattered of thanks this is whereby they hold intercourse with surrounding nature their power of vision is beyond our comprehension and the lab and as compared with the dimensions of their body his astonishing and Andrew reveals to us at a glance the reason why these little face turned the Hawk can see their prey are almost incredible to have the I hawk to see with e glance are expressions which though common enough give but a very feeble idea of the extent to which of its site and the steadiness of its aim the I of these birds must therefore be constructed after the plan upon its quarry with the velocity of shot rarely missing its victim and thus proving it once the perfection mm-hmm until our next barring bog good night indispensable and few contrivances in animal mechanics are more admirable than that which is adopted being over a meadow may perceive that it will capture two or even three insects in such quick succession as to convince him great distance the above beautiful arrangement however constitutes but a part of the mechanism required downwards for its food the insects upon which it preys are often exceedingly minute sometimes thus exactly control the quantity of light admitted the Marsupial them equally sensitive and equally spontaneous above and sometimes below the level of the swallows course and yet they are seeing and captured without any at the swallow must have had an eye upon them all at once and yet they were caught as it were in a moment they're admirable contrivance peculiar to the feathered race is the existence of a thin semi transparent veil which when requisite Lucien of the purchase rate at which the bird is flying may more anyone who attentively watches one of these birds skip which resembles that of the Human Iris Now the IRS as we all know being eminently sensitive to the it's constituting a firm but at the same time somewhat flexible ring or who is introduced into the composition of the outer coast embedded in the transparent vitry is humor of the eye is a peculiar apparatus called the marsupial them the texture lead fall adjustment would be affected by shortening or lengthening the sliding tube but in the bird some other plan is evidently it diffuses the tears which keep it bright and a polished it will act as a screen to shut out the two great intensity of light membrane is useful for a variety of purposes it sweeps over the I two cleanse it from dust density of light by it spontaneous contractions and dilation isn't able to alter the diameter of the pupil of the eye and the quickness of sight with which birds are gifted is equally remarkable the swallow is preferably one of the swiftest flyers the feathered creation and yet in the full career of its flight it is looking on the right hand and on the left upwards in aeneas in its action swells or contracts its dimensions filling or emptying itself like a sponge and thus adjust the lenses of the eye so as to secure perfect vision at what ever distance the object to be seen may be placed out of the I. whereby the requisite elongation is affected and the Oregon is less adapted for perfect vision at and its focus must necessarily be altered in accordance with the changed conditions in the case of the telescope the injuries and yet even when drawn curtain over the pupil not shut out the light the and when the force acting upon it is removed such being its nature in order to adapt it for its office south being elastic is capable of being drawn out like a thin sheet of India rubber and returning to its former position uses by the action of two antagonist muscles the one pulling it forward and the other backward but the membrane mm-hmm when this muscle contracts the membrane by means of communicating tendon is instantly drawn as it were orbit derives from its situation the advantage of not only being secure from injury but of being out of the way which is the extent of contraction necessary to draw the membrane over the whole front of the visual Oregon would require much longer muscle then the red over the transparent cornea and when the muscle ceases to act the elasticity of the membrane is you can be instantaneously drawn over the front of the I this apparatus generally known as the nicktator combination of two kinds of force by which the movements of this membrane are affected it is not as an ordinary case the greater than is compatible with his vehicle form of the eyeball to meet this requirement a circle of Bony plane mm-hmm devices like the whereby special machinery is introduced for special purposes speak for themselves mm-hmm telescope adjusted for distant vision is quite useless when brought to bear upon an object close at hand genius contrivance were it not for the plan adopted the tendon of the muscle would press upon the optic nerve sufficient to breed back into its former position see figure six showing the eye of an owl and thus materially interfere with vision an inconvenience that by the existing arrangement is totally prevented to every observer but what is equally admirable though not quite so obvious is the employment of two kinds of material and the eating membrane in front event there is what justly deserves to be called a marvelous piece of mechanical contrivance of prey are gifted with an acute perception of odors and are thus enabled to discover their food at a distance but the hardly would have been in any position that could be assigned to it in the front of the I where its function really lies it is connected by attendant with a muscle situated at the back part of the I this tendon though strong is so possess a sense of smell very far inferior to that conferred upon carnivorous quadrupeds and that so far from saw that with its assistance the Eagle can confront the sun even at noon day it will likewise defend the I from sutter over the I is considerably increased neither is this the only advantage derived from so in would have been placed in such a situation in order to meet this difficulty the tendon which draws forth the nick debating members Shen the bird immediately proceeded to attack the carcass as usual in the most vulnerable points failing in the hard he placed it in the middle of an open field laying down on its back in the attitude of a dead animal evident that by the simultaneous contraction of both these muscles the extent of their action withdrawn the dictating membrane uh-huh with knowledge their beauty and in them we recognize it once the wisdom and the goodness of the Creator in the course another muscle as represented in the next woodcut figure seven where it is moodiest manner in which this membrane lies folded up in the inner corner of the eye and the quickness with which it executes its purpose are known as might be readily inferred from the focal capabilities conferred upon many of these gifted song stirs in this class of animals is largely developed and indicates by its extent that it is well adapted to investigate the odorous Sion's has induced many observers to consider them as being directed entirely by site that this ladder observes bishops Stanley who sees a bird singing clapping its little wings turning from side to side yet although many vultures were seen sailing in all directions over the spot where the putrid carcass was lying covered only exists with reference to the extent to which they make use of their own factory organs it has been generally asserted that bird you're the sense of smell in birds has afforded subject matter for much discussion and Great Obscurity Stiller with twigs of Cain and light underwood none of them appeared at all to suspect its presence nevertheless is the preferable theory appears to be sufficiently established by the experiments of Audubon which go to show that these birds patties of the air taken in for respiration the sense of hearing and birds is remarkably acute their music is certainly not less appreciated by the performers that it is by their auditors nobody can doubt mail that possesses the musical faculty we made naturally suppose that it's exercise is intended for the solace and Sweet Autumn Clematis
"I will treat you to my verbiage on a plant that I know have mentioned before at least once if not more, this is the time of year where sweet autumn. Climate comes into its own. It has not done a thing other than grow since early spring it well, the plant itself. Once it's in its second or third year of growth can grow twelve fifteen feet up. And fifteen to twenty feet. Wide I think I've mentioned in the past that it has gone up through a flowering crab and this that and the next thing in my yard and in the neighbor's yard so that each of those trees has its pink or white flowers in the spring. Then the sweet autumn clements that has grown up through them comes into bloom. So they bloom the second time I have seen it up the post for stop signs I've seen it on Trellis I've seen it. Shall we say on a fabric like material on a wall I've seen? People string from their their gutter down from a second storey house so that the plant entwine up, it is right now absolutely magnificent. It is white flour almost as white as the driven snow. It is fragrant. Now, it won't be fragrant in a windstorm, but in a quiet, relatively gentle breeze of evening, you WanNa be down wind and if it it can get to be too strong after walk of its bath it is absolutely wonderfully fragrant. It will last from right now while I've seen it in bloom now for over a week some in full bloom mine is just now. And when when I talk about but I should talk about buds I'm guessing that there's well in excess of thousand flower buds on that plant.

with in fact to people that are very different in fact most of the time most people that i know mary be exact opposite of of their own personality of the way they are they find someone whatever that's attractive a somewhat different than we are considered the following god made men and women different biologically chemically and emotionally is in these differences that generate like a natural curiosity that we have toured one another buddy same differences came calls conflict senior relationship to people are defined by their life events in circumstances they all add up to make make you who you are as an individual they make you unique the things that happened to you the things you experience the choices that you make the things you're alive they make you have the perspective they they make you think individual that you are in this can make your point your viewpoint unique to that if your spouse and they call this conflict you look at things one way because of your circumstances and the things that you've been through in your spouse has a whole different set of circumstances and then your personality makes you unique is one thing the most obviously displays your differences are in your personalities now i am an introvert unlike textbook introvert if you want it to find out what the interpreter is just follow me around for a little bit i am completely energy it takes so much of me to do what i'm doing right now to put myself out there like this it takes a lot from because i'm an introvert so guess who i fell in love with it i fell in love with an extrovert because i saw and heard all these things that i didn't have i mean she was so outgoing and everybody loved her my wife in this type person she walks into a room and the whole room changes the whole atmosphere i mean everything just be dead quiet and she walks in and everybody star smiling and laughing she just changes everything i'm not that way at all i'm inter bird i'm totally opposite but guess what i did i went and found someone who is totally different than me my wife and we got married we i fell hopelessly in love but those same things that make us different that drew us to each other and also calls conflict in our marriage in costs things calls friction in disagreements fights guys are inevitable disagreements are inevitable but it's how you respond to those things means everything to you're marriage in your love life how you respond to your disagreements that's what the term is what happens not necessarily having a disagreement not necessarily having a fight but how you respond to that disagreement or how you respond to that five three ways to end the fire in the makeup number one use the power of compliments use the power of compliments in the book of revelation god writes these letters with the intent of criticizing seven churches and one of those churches and criticize is the book is that the church at emphasis and we find this in revelation chapter two inverse number to listen to what god says i know that works in by labor and i patience and how cannot bear them which are evil and has tried them which say they are apostles end or not and has found them liars and has born and has patients in for my sake as labor day it's not fainted he says nevertheless i have somewhat again see because it has left i first love remember therefore foment start falling and repent and do the first works or else i will come into the quickly removed the candlestick out of its place except that repent but they're still has the haters the deeds of the nicolay attendance which i also hate notice the way got addressing the church which obviously he loves right he addresses the church in this way he begins by complimenting her he compliments her first he says good things about the church in then he tells him nevertheless i have somewhat against you criticize you now you have left you're first love and then he he is it with another compliments like right they're stuck in the middle right there buried in this in this passenger scripture god puts criticism in the midst of all these complements so there's a principle here in criticism when you criticize their spouse you also offer compliments cnn scripture you see the principal god loved the church he's rebuking them he's giving them criticism but he lays out of first of all this is how you do it you don't just criticized you also complement and so that's the way to deal with their spouse don't just criticize criticize complement your spouse everything your spouse does is not wrong guess what everything they do is not wrong they do some things right then you sometimes we could spend so much tom criticizing each other it's like you ignore the things that you're spouse does it could drive you're relationship apart it can isolate you and your spouse it's it's like when you ask yourself the question you've heard it so many times it's a glass half full are happy md well it depends on how you look at it right we do that to her spouse would just see the happy we don't see this is half for my spouse does good things there are good things that my spouse dies in by complement recognizing nice and those things and complement your spouse it makes the criticism a lot easier to swallow it makes it a lot more meaningful to you spouse is sad but true that sometimes you don't realize what you have until you lose it in this that way in marriage sometimes we don't realize what the good things that are spouses until they're gone then we realize hey you should have been this way i miss this or my spouse always said this for me sometimes we don't realize things until they're going the husband he feels like he does nothing right at home just what happens when you find someone at work that appreciates what he does his wife doesn't show appreciation so he find someone network shows them appreciation and then the wife who never here's how pretty she is from her husband guess what happens when she hears out british she is from someone else all of a sudden the temptation to seek seek those compliments outside outside of marriage becomes a real thing because if you focus on only the things that you're spouse needs to do all those things that you're spouse needs to fix and not the good things that you do you never recognize the good that they do then you're hurting you're marriage practice complementing each other make a commitment before you criticize your spouse your compliment them first before i criticize before i say what i'm about to say i'm gonna offer eight complement i'm gonna say something good about my spouse before i say what i'm about to say maybe your spouse as much as they probably deserve the criticism that you're about the get let's just be honest they probably deserves some credit for the things that they do right and chances answers are they do plenty of things that are good years after recognize those things they do you what do you have to lose by complementing your spouse you go out if you're way go out of your way the complement your spouse think of something they do in the compliment here's some practical ideas and i'll have this on a website when i get this up but if you liking of the website and you can subscribe to our email and you get if you check email i know i get swamped with email but i do check my email but don't automatically send you email so when i get the next done you get it straight through email box and you can read it then this is a little chart that i made up and once i have that up and see if they are but examples of compliment say you can give to your husband these are things you husband would really liked the here okay and i know that because here's why i'm a husband so these are some things that you're husband lot here thank you for working so hard to take care of her family was that is a great compliment you can give to her husband so when he comes home from work and he's tired of these aggravated from a long day at work instead of hitting him up with the criticism you could instead hit him up with a compliment thank you for working so hard to take care of your family when he realizes this is done insincerity then you have some criticism when it's time to offer criticism when you do gave him a little bit of criticism he think about a more it's not just like you're coming at it and it's like you're giving him accomplish you appreciate what he's done how about this you are a great father to are children thank you for being so thoughtful about recognizing ising when you're husband tries to do something for you how about the yard looks nice afternoon he worked on it hey the yard looks great you did a great job only oughta look so nice out there instead her husband's been outside his work and he's cutting the grass and he's hot and sweaty entirety parties weeded he comes in and now you're gonna get criticized him over something that he hasn't done why don't you just say it looks great out there you did a great job offer a compliment how about this appreciate you for staying faithful to me you could also say this i admire you for fill in the blanks all guys like to be mired if you say my wife says i admire you for this i feel like i'm twenty feet tall i mean i'm ready to take on the world but i meyer you for filling the place in for the wife examples of ways you could complement her how about this you look so beautiful today you're wife takes time to look nice you could recognize that she's like sprayed today she would appreciate a compliment like that thank you for cooking such a great meal right instead of complaining about everything is sitting there thinking about all this stuff you wished her why did all the things you're why doesn't do what do you think her for what she does do thank you for cooking a great meal for our family you're the best wife a man could ask for how about that so great complement to give to your wife thank you for taking good care of the house i appreciate you for staying faithful the me or how about this my wife were really likes it do this as i love fill in the blank this about you in a specific thing i love the way you laugh i love the way you smile i love the way your eyes look you fill in the blank fast ways you can complement your spouse these are things you can do it maybe you have other ideas if you have otherwise i'll be glad if you wanna share with me i'll be glad to put on the website or share with the class but these ideas things you can do to complement your spouse offer complements condition your mind to compliment instead of criticize you can override the negative tendencies in your mind by consciously making the effort to have positive thoughts about your spouse when you have a negative thought when you're ready to criticize your spouse when you read and say something bad to stop for a second in think about something good you cannot say reprogram your mind so when you say you're spouse you're not thinking about all the things they've done wrong think about the things that they've done their good condition your mind a complement instead of criticize replace it with something positive awesome about your spouse and then if you still feel the need to criticize constructively after you complimented your spouse you can do that but compliment them first just like jesus did the church he offered compliments to them number two no winter talk not to talk no window talk not to talk anybody who's been married for any length of time can tell you this when you say say something thing that matters it matters win you say it when you say something is absolutely critical to what's going on saying the wrong thing at the wrong time is like throwing a match own gasoline so marriage i mean you can't say the wrong thing at the wrong time having the right timing in what you say timing is everything consider the timing of you're criticism or the negative conversation that you're intending the have is this the best time to criticize my spouse he's been at work all day he's probably been it'd be like me he's been criticized by his boss all day and now he comes home and he just needs a chance to relax a little bit maybe that's not the right time to offer criticism to your spouse timing is everything you may want to just be blunt sometimes it's just blunt with guys in particular is just usually works best just to be blind is it okay if offer criticism right now i don't feel like talking about it right now this is not a good time for may maybe we could talk about it later once i once my nerves have calmed down what i've come down from having a did with the traffic own on my way home from work are all the things that they've been work maybe after i've had a little bit of time we could talk about it but i'm just talking about it right now was are a little bit different you know one thing you can do but i do know my wife sometimes if i want to know if i told you about something serious if i touch her and it kind of tells me it kind of walk me she said right it by toucher edgy turns away that's probably aside that we should not have any serious conversation right now i have probably inadvertently done something or maybe she's having a bad day or whatever's going on but when i just reaching out and touching her tells me a lot about what kind of mood she may be in it i i think sometimes women are not as blood is men are men just i'd be blunt with a sometimes you say cannot criticize you right now can we talk about something we ever conversation can we take a timeout it's in the middle of the game i can't take timeout right now give me time give me maybe later we can talk about this with with laser little bit different you have to try to figure it out we try to guess what they want and sometimes by touching it tells you a lot about how she feels and what kind of state she's in at the time and maybe you can talk about those things constructively after you have offered some compliments to your spouse may be may fix whatever it is you may have done wrong or maybe allow you you're after you've allowed roger spouse tom to wind down a little bit or maybe it's a time when they have a lot on their mind and they just need a chance to think about those things how about this take turns talking an listening take turns talking and listening we've all been there when you get so angry and you're so passionate about what you're saying but he won't let the other person finish what they're gonna say i want to defend myself i wanna make my point and when someone is criticizing me i wanna stop right there you stop right there now i've got something i need to say nope let your spouse finished why they have the say take turns talking listen even when you're mad even when you fill out hey wait a minute i wasn't right that one thing you said was right just listen to everything they have to say there may be something else in the story that you need to know they will put things in context these types of conversations can quickly turning to ace shouting match make your mind up before for you get in this type of conversation you're gonna take it turns listening i'm gonna i'm gonna let my wife speak and then when she's done speaking i'm gonna wait a second to make sure she's done and now i'm gonna speak and say what i say listen to your spouse until their finish talking there might be something there despite the fact that you are angry in your spouse's angry there might be some truth into what they're saying and if you let them finish what you're saying you may realize hey wait a second i have not being what i need to be i have really messed up here in by listening to what they have their say his reasoning and purpose in your conversation you may discover something about the situation that you may have been completely unaware of i had no idea what i was doing upset my wife that much but because i stopped to listen to everything she had to say now i know what i was doing was that or you may say well i had no idea that the way i was talking to my husband made him feel the way he feels but by listening to him by giving him a chance to speak you find that out you have a constructive conversation so take turns talking in listening talking and listening is critical to any relationship you know in your relationship with god is important not only the talk to him in prayer is really important tells him in prayer ride but it's also important give him opportunities to speak to you i come the church because i want to give god a chance to speak to me i read my bible because i know that i need the give got a chance to speak to me a listener sermons because i know that i needed give got a chance to speak to me he has had his turn a lot of people were like that in the christian life they just told the god they just tell them all their problems in everything they wanna fix and they never give him a chance to speak back they speak back to them you speak you've got a chance to see the opportunity to speak back to you you have these expectations sometimes they god's his listening you but then you don't give him a chance to talk back marriage relationship is the same thing you want to have a happy and successful marriage then you need have opened in real estate conversations you need to listen to your spouse in you need to talk you may find out what you're finding about may not be what you thought it was about to begin with if you stop to listen if you take turns take turns number three let go of you're anger as soon as possible let go you're anger as soon as possible the bible gives important principles about anger they apply particularly to marriage inefficient chapter four verse twenty six the bible says this being angry and send not letting now the sun go down upon you rats neither good place to the devil the principal here is the not hold your anger too long in this case and basically what god is saying don't go to bed angry if you have an argument with their spouse if you're arguing and you have a disagreement don't go to bed angry let it go before you go to bed comes a point where you just have to let things go you know even though you're spouse may have said things and he the moment they probably didn't and really mean even though you probably said some things in the heat of the moment you didn't mean there comes a point where you just have to let it go to just have to forgive your spouse you can't waste time and energy in your mind mind and be all upset and angry about what's going on are you just let those things go don't allow you're anger to turn into bitterness yeah there's a real danger in not fighting if you hold on the things that you're angry about without confronting them with their spouse you develop resentment and that resentment can turn in the bitterness in your life you could develop deep resentment for the things there's nothing worse in marriage they're bitter at each other when you feel resentful about something that's happened or your spouse is done you have to learn how to let those things go and sometimes they know things got me talking about those things discussing those things and once you become bitter it's incredibly hard to get out of bitterness is incredibly hard once you get better to not be bitter anymore the bible says he said he wished that they're twelve and versus team looking diligently list any man fell the grace of god list any route of bitterness springing up trouble you there by many defiled route of bitterness just a little simple route of bitterness can make your life miserable a simple route of bitterness can make your marriage miserable but made the commitment before you go to bed each night before you go to bed that you're gonna make things right with their spouse tomorrow will be a new day that's a great way that god has set up are live you sleep in tomorrow is a new day it's like kidding the reset button making up is fun to do the secret to a happy marriage is not avoiding having conflict in this in disagreements like i said it's how you respond to those things and to be honest one most intimate things about marriage is that times when you make things right now it's time to let go of the anger forgive each other now you've made amends you act like the fight never happened it's like again like the rules are my relationship with the lord i've done some things wrong i failed him a make to try to make those things right in the process of making those things right any act like it never happened their season he's dealt me about the last few weeks i'm making the effort to make those things right but he treats me like i've never done those things letting things go in your marriage there's a joy in making things right there is joy in marriage when you fight if making those things right if you never had a fight you would never know the joy of making things right with your spouse in summary three ways the end of it make number one use use the power of complement number two you know when they talk in win not the call in number three let go of you're angry thank you for

PC's Peter so they can be safe so their enemies don't see them and they think they're another part of a tree or other animals camouflage themselves it Dr Staff I speak athletic this restore hope why the mail that's right phil another magazines and everyone smile we get a postcard franken over my I would put a white cheat overturning over my head cut holding q oh do you have any other ideas we could wear a disguise that's a good idea who are friends did just tell us quite a lot about disguises that's right so I guess the name is Rebecca Johnson I live in San Francisco I have two kids I work at the California Academy of Sciences which is a Natural History Museum I think we need to do is pick a costume I don't know how to pick one though I know someone who's an expert at animal disguises let's ask her oh cool what's her name colors and they they crawl onto Ricans meal you can decline to return Eddie Colors Kimball camouflaged you are a Predator animal that wants to eat other animals you can sneak up on it it has no idea and then you eat it but it's mostly this do they spy on Peter Watch with a feature really to see what they're dealing by cake thing that's sneaky mostly to stay safe gun solicit it seems like it would be really hard to hide in a big open space like a desert so if you were a desert animal that needed we're going to pretend to be Andrew what would you do make silly Joe Louis Shredded diversely kangaroo stay safe in desert how would you do one thing that animals can do is they can match the color of sand so there's some lizards that the best at the sizing themselves like they're amazing animal disguises are so good we can't even tell what they are why wouldn't animals all our letter or someone draws us a picture and we put it on free all we could help them couldn't we try okay it's important to that and every day I get to walk into aquariums and that's what my job is rebecca do animals disguise themselves animals if I was wearing a bright green dress in my green forest it might be harder about an animal ocean ocean are so good at why I was thinking about this Tim Kellinger treating Jacquelyn Hay Andrew did you hear that message we got from Kevin and Louise at the zoo they're in a pickle I know how he feels I've lost I I am a robot a robot V we look like something else like insect or bug that looked like a stick sometimes people call that this look a special scientific word they called special resemblance especially like something being that looks like a would not do well there are trees and sticks around Tom Their total photo bombers anymore example to most famous maybe is a special kind of octopus mimic offense would the grand bay a black Dan and aquarium in San Francisco and my job here is citizen science citizen work with volunteer in the title to look at all the is itself the first reason and animal wanted this guy's itself is so predators things that one can't find it we'll see others and the other reason is is the thing I like most jobs that I get to be outside talking to people about nature and learning from all the people I meet about why you have to look like you could actually they give I were in the desert and I was wearing a bright green dress what is it that animals have such skies this is amazing thing about all this trouble-free how else could you pretend to be seeing that song sing a long sing God broken role the mic optimists do look like tons of different animals it can move his arms to look like a fish it can move its arms to look like jellyfish more that live entitled we also were on a mountain to count and make collections and every single plant that grows on channel parents parents and their parents parents before that having grown up to try to figure out the past ways to survive and now right and then they end up with a green dress in the middle appreciate you taking a few minutes to talk to us today you're welcome I love the desert exactly are you going to just at this Halloween Halloween I think that I will be flower with like a flower spots or stripes leopard can't electron Shida moved into a totally different place they don't they don't match that place very well they have grown up and their parents and their parents parents walked Andrew and Paulie okay so I know what we have to do you do if we WANNA help Kevin and Louise get their keys back moved arms to look like a rock and you can also change the color of skin color and shape color and even its texture downtown and my daughter who's three and a half juniper Stinger he really wants to have a Stinger we really really they don't have a sports just like a native I really don't have are complex wrote for I we have middle L. I would draw things and cut is it animal they figured out how to have a disguised their place and the other animals and other plants that they might see and is there it looks the same probably some people who have taken pictures of coral underwater some of them may have taken it and not even known people send me pictures Arab earn almost the same color as so few or maybe a bird flying over looking for you wouldn't even see we'll have so it seems like you really have to have the right disguise are we're wondering and my husband will be a beeper because we used to be so he has the staff would've kids going to be one of my babies is fifteen one that most people don't know about it because it's a new brain slug that looks exactly like you can't even tell when it sitting on the coral holly we're in it I know the name of our new album Oh yes now them onto me and I will talk thank you bye bye robot butchered thinks that does first and they say look at this awesome picture is like a crab anesthesia and there's a new to break in and they did not know lizard because it looked like the sand what do you call call it camouflage work hard to see the animal back from the Penguin We gotta dress up like penguins you think that would work I think that's the best option okay and if we don't don't want the penguins to notice that we aren't penguin we really better look like them yeah we're going to need a really good penguin disguise let's see what would that look and here's Max is made by Andrew and polly thanks for listening it pretend to to be all these different kinds of people and that's what's so cool about voiceovers that I could never on camera play like a big huge mob boss guide it just wouldn't make any sense and yet in voice over you can play that character you can play a character that's twenty feet tall you can play you know so tell us what does the voice actor do a voice actor spends most of the time auditioning basically they tell you reasoning is your job so part of your job is to change your normal voice to make it sound blake a character that you're playing how do you think about different ways to do that you can do to give cues to the listener this is the kind of character we're talking about that's pretty cool it's not something I thought about before when you're a voice actor are a surprisingly large amount of tools vogel tools when you're putting together a character the three probably most simple ones are pitched exactly who we can talk to follow Hello Greg a holly how exciting Andrew and polly so yeah let's say I'm I bring my voice down here and then I kind of slow things down and maybe put an accent on a little bit corner make it see make automatically creates a bit of character in your voice it's so cool things get really interesting when you start combining everything together you do a whole bunch of things and you can come up with voice that that really doesn't sound like you at all okay so say we were we had a low pitch and more slowly than you would normally yeah it from me and my friends like when I was young I didn't even know voice over was a profession that you could have what we did was we just made fun of our teachers that was that's one inch tall if you were a kid who was interested in voice over or voice acting what kind of things would you do well here's how it starts I will give the penguins a little bit more credit so you're thinking we have to disguise our voices who can we talk to about disguising our voice sh- pace and volume okay let's start with pitch normal speaking voice is here I could bring it up here for a characteristic bringing down here and what about pace pace is another interesting thing you could be. I think that'll work no you have to trick the penguins you can't sound like a person like my idea no no no no the penguins are really smart give the penguins some credit please aide and then and then you can take into account you know the characters age and the characters disposition whether they're generally cheerful or grumpier sarcastic there's so many things that needed to be talking to you because we know that you can disguise your voice in many ways Yes My name is Greg Chun and among other random things that I do I am a voice actor mud something in my mouth and discussing what are you doing getaway from a sound anything like you at all that's amazing England's and we say Hello I'm a penguin also for aid can I see those keys and we just run away really fast that's not gonNa work life wow we weren't so nice we were full on making fun of the teachers I don't I'm not encouraging children make fun of the teachers but it's more about listening to the teacher and seeing what they do what they say that's interesting you know we had one guy and there was a lot of it's so tomorrow we got someone who talks a little more slowly and a little more reserved or you can be somebody who's really neurotic and I feel like I'm always rambling I you know about volume you know you could be the thing because every kid I don't care what school they go to they got some teachers talk pretty funny it's like I mean in a very obvious in also very interesting way okay last question for you greg are three really different ways you could say happy Halloween Oh gosh all right let's see we can do this guy happy Halloween and we could do happy Halloween school he would say you could go a day without food and without water you can go two days without food and without water but you can't go a day without your tree because trickles Savior Tuxedo oh that's easy no problem okay bobbing here's what we do we put on our penguin outfits and then we go to the zoo and we go up to the your residents cavity smaller and it's kind of voice that comes out here if you bring it down in your chest you hear the vibration of your entire chest cavity and similarly if you put it listen to the way people talk and their little unique quirks and then practice them definitely yeah everybody's got a friend who's got a voice that's kind of up here in new sort of actor who's just really loud everything he says really loud or you know you could just kind of reserved Nile was early sure about the way you spoke to yesterday I was kind of upset those sort of changes so much for talking to us it's my pleasure so great to talk with you guys and I really enjoyed it thanks for having me thank you for being willing to be on ear snacks yes your snacks you have to make up a whole character it sounds like this might get a little tricky polly Okay Andrews Zinc about who you wanna be okay if you're listening at home you know like and that that right there kind of creates part of a character there was another guy who's sort of like he sh- shorted this whistling S. thing just like we're GonNa placement is just what I went through when talking about the friend who kind of talks up here in his nose or this person who has a little bit of a throaty tone your normal speaking voice is just sort of in the middle of your threat Mahler and what's your character story because remember you've got to be really been singley disguised so these penguins don't know where sneaking in right right right Kevin in Louise's keys ooh is that a song nobody should be a song that sounds like a good Song Kevin and Louise's keys like as a penguin what are you doing gene maybe happy Halloween that was gary thank you how would you disguise yourself as a penguin what would you do to Your Voice Okay Andrew you go first how are you going to make your voice sound I'm GonNa make it rush on Thursday and like that's another just random character thing that not everybody has but it sure you know is sure something that we came to identify him with a good thing to do is kind of thing that was one thing I forgot to mention that one of the most important things we talked about hitch and volume and pace one of the most important things is placement can you explain placement in that Penguin Penn.. Well let's see I'm going to be a penguin handyman penguin that fixes stuff what are you going to be how you GonNa do you're well I from the back in the back of your throat that's what you get you get this kind of sound Arnold Schwarzenegger he's in pain stop it right so it's all in the nasal cavity and you know what I mean like people some people just have a smaller voice and this is where they naturally play got a friend who kind of has a throaty voice a little bit of a throaty end of like you pulled your Chin back and like you monetize our without your shoulders and it's so cool the the way that really translates it's just aw I wanna be a bird yeah that's what I would stop in my tracks but you know what I mean I feel my normal speaking voice just sort of buzzing in my throat if I just put my hand on my throat is just sort of buzzing all right happy Halloween Halloween Halloween let's here for the amazing and talented Greg John Back here in the throat soothing words he would every time he would open up in certain vowels like he is the classic example of placement that really mm-hmm okay to make our disguises really convincing we have to disguise voices yeah we have to think of voice that's very different from our normally have to do more than that when you have superheroes they talk down in their chest and everything's down here everything's Big Yeah Paulie can you talking superior it's different right could try are if I kind of bring it up into the nose a little bit it's you feel a lesson the throne you kind of feel it up in the middle of your face you know because it's it's smaller you've almost made Zach or beat we have a character change when you brought it down to your chest it's like all of a sudden just your chest in your arms like all in retaliation yeah and then when you went to the back of your throat all the sudden you Jack Yeah the me too Shack I need I mean not made fun of but I love to do impersonations of particularly of my favorite accuser and I was a kid yeah what did you oh in exit like this and that I'm GonNa be really sad cast Dick and I'm going to be like a janitor Penguin Janet janitor the law our B. Two half hey you've reached Andrew Hey Jan oh I'm Jan Janet Hygiene me what's it my name's Stan I'm stan the penguin fix it man all right let's go and that's our show I'm actually Andrew and I'm Paulie and thanks for listening to your snap thank you thanks to everyone who is part of this episode sandy so a lot of things we're talking to me dear I'm sorry I was knitting a very long scarf for my very long neck it's taking me forever just the though the World Cup of Penguin Visitor polly Kevin Louise didn't say anything about peace and they didn't say that part but I was thinking that might be true oh please you start playing around with putting my voice kind of up here down here and certainly back in the throat as you're doing this I'm like I'm watching in my mind aw I'm GONNA put my voice up here and I'm GONNA put a lot of air in some squeaky voice and could have guide if he all to the zoo all right do do they do I like to Sir I just saved you just trash over here I love it now I pick it up

Make sure to drop your email and we i'd love to hear some feedback so make sure to also reach out to us on social media using the hashtag big rig banter but linda how're you doing today. I think our the topic is gonna hit home for a lot of truckers yeah. I'm doing pretty good today. How about you. I'm doing good. I'm i noticed you're not wearing your glasses. Today's today's that's. I don't have to see clearly wow. I'm just kidding. Thank you what a sweetheart as always yeah but <hes> truckers were talking all about vision requirements today and like i mentioned before the now you do wear glasses. Sometimes don't you yes. Oh my big thing is <hes> my is just get tired of focusing after a while because i stare at a computer screen all day but i'm not supposed to wear my glasses while driving actually uh-huh well. Luckily i have twenty twenty vision while i wouldn't know about that. I mean i do we. We've had this discussion before. I've never been to an eye hi dr <hes> doctors are terrifying and <hes>. I don't want to ever visit them anyway. The point is if you want to be a truck driver you will. We'll have to go to the doctor. Yeah that's for sure and luckily in this episode. We're gonna go over some things that you'll be required to when you take your eye exam and things like that and some tips and tricks for keeping your eyes healthy as well all right so the first thing when you go to get your physical goal <hes> will be that you'll need to have twenty forty vision <hes> to pass your eye exam so that means you would be able to read texts from forty feet away at at the same accuracy as someone who can read it from twenty feet away. If you don't have the twenty forty vision you can get eyeglasses or contacts to correct. This doesn't necessarily surly disqualify you from becoming a truck driver but you will have to get your vision to that point eighty. Remember what vision you have no no idea nope but i doubt i can read things from forty feet away so all right truckers and then the second thing you're going to need is a healthy th-they range of vision this means that your vision exceeds seventy degrees on each side so you know <hes> there are definitely some diseases and issues out there. Let's start with taking away your peripheral vision so unfortunately that might cause some issues if you're trying to get your c._d._l. Or pass your vision exam in the third thing is that if you're colorblind can also disqualify you from being a truck driver so basically what it comes down to is that you need to be able to tell the difference between between the colors and traffic lights and street signs. I'm if you can't differentiate green from red. I know i i do struggle with this. Sometimes even though i'm not colorblind <hes> ah you might not pass your vision requirements to get your c._d._l. Alright truckers. So how can you keep. Those is healthy well. There's a variety of ways you you can keep your eyes healthy on the road. Just like your body and your mind you wanna. Keep your eye health <hes> in tip top shape as well. The first thing is to eat for your is <hes> a lot of these foods rich in vitamin a. c. n. e. such strawberries oranges egg salmon almonds carrots crab and turkey can all support healthy is not only. Should you be eating healthy on the road. You should be eating healthy foods for your eyes as well. What about you what you got. Yes i was just is going to say you know we <hes> when you're driving. It's really hard to stay focused on the road and it really does strain your eyes especially at night so another thing you can do to help with your vision is to exercise your eyes. I know it sounds a little ridiculous but if you actually roll your eyes in a circular motion and massage your temples it can and actually help you to avoid being tired and keep those muscles stronger and one more tip for keeping your eyes healthy on the road is to wear sunglasses as i always like wearing shades especially when it's sunny out <hes> i looked pretty cool in them but <hes> yeah this is huge so driving on the road during during all times of the day can really take a toll on your health obviously truckers. You're staring into the sun a lot depending on which direction you're going and that can really do some damage to your eyes if you're not taking care of it so always offer u. V. protecting lenses and make sure that the tin of the lenses still allow you to accurately identify colors when necessary airy there might be some cool yellow or rose colored glasses that you wanna try on but that could affect the color of your vision so just stick with some cool dark shades so if you have any questions about vision requirements when it comes to getting your c._d. L. you can check out all truck jobs dot com and there is a blog on they're all about vision requirements armaments <hes> so be sure to read that and if you have any questions at all you can use the hashtag big rig banner reach out to us on social media and again triggers will have some other iras sources in the show notes. There's some great online resources that you can use to test your vision and to <hes> do it from the road which is really convenient convenient and there's also some resources where you can find the best i care locations and some great deals on some glasses as well so we'll make sure to include them down below yeah absolutely i also don't forget to mention that i'm sure a lot of you might be heading to dallas this week. <hes> for the great american trucking show are co workers at all truck jobs dot com which actually powers figuring banter will be down there and they are going to be at booth twenty nine twenty four so be sure to stop by and say hi to them yeah for sure and truckers again. Were out catching butterflies with on on the spur. Small class in our front yard is more like hell once they like. Maybe fifteen to twenty feet high and down below is a small creek so i remember what keeps for the big net we had we. We love bugs. Pok mon. like animal. Planet steve irwin and just like finding wildlife in general and i wanted to be some kind of wildlife When i grow up so looking everywhere for going in and out of the house. When out. When i went out again i realize my sisters were suddenly like. They're completely still staring down ice cream. And i thought it was a little odd to ask. You know what they were looking at from my memory and my youngest. There's a big black dog going crazy making noises chief nextel and i didn't see or hear anything at first sushi silenced and we wait a little longer and i was kind of excited imagining. It could be a black lab maybe from the neighborhood and you know i think visibly see the neighborhood right across. That was And i was getting a little impatient. And i didn't see anything i think you know. I thought maybe it turned the other way. And then all of a sudden we heard this crashing noise and it was really startling remember. Something didn't feel right as soon as i heard that and If we time friendly slowed and the fray. I could describe it. It was really strange and and it just suddenly came out of nowhere.
This Wedding Life Episode 4: Happiness and taking control of your life
"Do you ever struggle to find the joy and happiness that you feel you deserve at your day to day business life I know we do from time to time we see perfect we actually are not on this episode we talk about happiness in are you Jessica complete and utter opposite of that the adjusted later well it's because I'm amazing this is True Humble Nada mazing your happiness isn't dependent on external circumstances but it can be affected by external circumstances if your viewpoint in your mindset is an entre I would say that I'm I'm not say no I'm a pessimist our pessimist in aw optimistic Oh yeah I'm always the glass is half full kind of person I'm you know I'm an easy going person with actually I would say though I am always tired right now with our young son and his sleeping problems I am super happy and that incidentally within generalities I have my own particularities whatnot perfectionist I I don't get to easily ruffled by thanks and I just can't let things roll off and Mutsu melody doesn't get you anywhere today's episode we're talking about happiness happiness and taking control of your life because we have been weekday we can't say the day because people know how long record this are you doing today that are small moves that have made big impacts on not just us on our home when our kids up waiting through this and figuring it out I don't know May years somewhere in recent we had our first everything yeah but just journey so for you have the happiness thing like you somebody that you would say you circumstances on a pessimist with other people that I would have to guard myself when I first ooh right off a runs can hear crackling anyway you know I would say that what we think learn because of having kids is that see also see a lot of good and that's that's just more second nature to me I would say that and in a sense sit back and watch you and come up with a label stamp you on the forehead with that no no no meet someone I'm not looking at them in a sense was an eyebrow raised of like what are you doing here what is your motive 'cause I don't trust you we're talking about today this is something that I find quite something because I don't think I could do that B- tired unhappy as tired as you seem to be eh you are and be as upbeat as you are in pull off things you still pull off child after learning foot happy because a bit bitter truth there we can just look at it or laugh there learning that is the key to happiness key to happiness for me the happiness thing is something that it's been a quality years they didn't really truly answer the questions I'm doing great good yes everybody says I'm in the middle of a personal crisis how you doing but I'm not in the middle of personal hygiene were great parts or whatever somebody they both have their negatives to them and with you know so many things in life it's about finding that healthy middle ground and the cool thing is is that you and in different home environments as children I would say though that our where I am weak you're strong and then vice versa like I think my tendency and I know I'm self aware enough to know that I need to guard myself from that you make conscious choices to not do that time back to no matter what we've been learning about an honest isolate just this last year it's really coming together for us a few things that we've done we'll talk about fifty feet away from these folks in she is so freaking concern about the branch that's a hundred feet away even though it's going to be so blurred out in the background I'm a perfectionist and other ways that you aren't aren't as much in we balance each other out there yeah it's it's a good thing well in that whole you know prefer some we'll talk photography there are times where you're perfectionism comes out when we're doing a photo shoot and I am just like shaking my head her sometimes biting my tongue just stopped and I'm sitting there I can see it but it still doesn't look perfect as it sits right there so Jessica has to stop everything to fix that Dang branch and I'm sitting there and sometimes I bite my tongue and I'm just shaking my head inside in sometimes I can help myself and it just bubbles out a little bit I'll be like what are you doing I even though we have a lot of similarities of how we view the world and what we value in our ethics with a lot of personality differences and we were raised Ranji on the forehead with that label yeah and the you will never you will never change my mind which is a danger but as I do know that as danger and I know that it often inconveniences your life in some way but by choosing to keep your emotions in check and you know as light as possible we'll talk photography talk for a brief bit here for those of you that aren't photographers bear with their with us you can send us a DM will explain this oh man it's not just a little bit so it is a mental flaw in me in something that I hope with time we'll just completely be okay macro micro which one is smaller macro is it I don't know which ones so let's say we're shoot we're photographing a subject in their twenty feet from a frigging tree and just has her aperture at two point Oh and she's standing you know I I tend to see situations with rose colored glasses which sometimes is a great thing because a real killer of happiness is getting too caught up in little things that aren't wife or husband for the weekend and you get a flat tire five minutes down the road and you let that derail the entire first day of your getaway find a different level of camaraderie because your your journey through the trials of parenthoods together in this moment you're struggling you are rising to the challenge sheets of being a glass half full kind of person is that sometimes not enough of a critical thinker I don't set up careful boundaries and protect my can often find a bit of a silver lining or find something to joke about and in that process especially as a husband wife together dealing with these situations that come up with your kids you anyway that's reality happiness there's this book by Danny Soak thank you for level on and I just started reading it and I'm very very few pages but one of the things he talks about is how people who take control of their lives and their relation glasses half-full versus glass is half empty I think they both have their places and you and I kind of our one or the other so we balance each other that way penis project like trying to find all these different parts of our life to find ways to bring more happiness and more joy into those relationships into those moments what is difficult and you can find joy in it and with happiness I really think the two are linked together and it's something that you and I talked a lot about you know like a happy because like Oh my word I can't believe this freaking tire blew and we have to get out in Colorado truck or fixing our cells in Korean Mahmoud goes off a cliff it's basically you know in his roundabout way focusing on like let's say you got a great day planned you are on your way to I don't know a resort with your it's just something it's just something that you're going to have a natural struggle with whereas I'm not gonNA maybe have struggles on that area but you know one of the taxes or feelings have come into play now I choose you and it puts you in a position of power because now you can take what's challenging and you can make it better you can take and I have a hard time picking it up and focusing on that one thing that let's be honest with me and my wonderful skill set east the fixation on the smallest minutia of something going on in Oleg Gary calls it like focusing on I I have a hard time not being annoyed when the kids are at home and we're trying to work and and you are succeeding and you're empowered and you're happy anyways agree that's that's good stuff the life hearted and so that's where you could say your perfectionism that front to a fault but it's a good thing into those things that we have to do day in day out I agree yeah my mind's going all over the place it's going almost so fast I don't know what to do with your kids we work from home I find for you you find that much easier than I do I've done it locker done a longer with somebody that you're there can be false to that because you can try to control them but it's not often talks about how when you choose somebody you're actually mental space that I'm in and I got stuff to do and I want to sit at a desk in every five minutes or as a kid at the door for your needs child that I wasn't expecting it snow I choose to be loyal to you I choose commit to you and so no matter what circumstance also opening the door to selfless love and relationship because now it's no longer about will I have to like you I have to tolerate you I have to provide way it makes it easier when those things happen that you can't control those interruptions come knocking at your door to take them in stride and to not really that important and I find it very easy to just you know some of the has helped make that conscious choice but to shrug them off whereas for you it can be harder to shrug off those little thing of a sub being self aware and just calling it what it is and yet this is a struggle this is a struggle and not just saying it's yes so we have done a few things or a number of things that that are very targeted number one as I look at our the Tom Coffee today
"Read your plants of the week. They are plants and then there are two very different kinds at the same time. I mentioned a little bit ago about bringing some color in getting close to us. It is is that time of year where I think there's been enough cold Where we can cut pussy willow and forsythias branches whole big branches if forsythias pussy so you will usually need a little pruning anyhow and bring them in and as quick as you can? Even to the point you carry a bucket of water or a pan of water era with the so that you can plunge that bottom of the stem into the water it would be advantageous to have the water slightly warm and so on. So that you can enforce pussy willow now there are. Many many kinds. Willow is a very very large group of plants and we're looking at one that is called well. First of all willow is say lakes essay lax. And then you WanNa be a little careful which one you get because They range from a shortest artis. Three feet on the ground covering types to as much as one hundred feet tall and seventy why. Yeah you don't want to get those mixed WanNa get those just mixed up bidding up the one that we would be using for for this. Cutting process is usually called Salix. discolor neither knows you have to get into those details or not. But that's disrobe tree if you will. It is quite capable of hitting twenty feet and even more as a boy. I can remember climbing one that my dad had trained into a tree free I remember the neighbor kid. That brody's little hatchet overt strips of bark off duck about an uproar but in in any event those branches are pretty much well still dormant terms the outside. But I think they've had enough cold that you can bring them in. Even even to the extent that where everything kind of has its duration you could start bringing in some branches now. And then when they start to fuzz out if you will Turn and yellowish on the tips and so on and be done you can have brought some more. In to the point you could probably bring in some each of three weeks and extend the beauty on through There is one other willow In in the reasonable size range that is called torture Tusa now. Let's not worry about that but it is one that is not for its catkins. It's four. It's crazy growth. It's the it's well. It's a mainstay to a lot of garden or let you say indoor designers Whether the ranches are dry or they are they're growing. There would be a few catkins on them. But they grow They're messed up genetically addict. I'm GONNA put it. They don't girl very straight period than some of the stems will be similarly similar to round there will be a multiple multiple tutor those and then coming out of that. Call it tights down. You can have a spread half an inch or three quarters of an inch of multiple apple. New stems coming out and get crazy. That's a plant that you can enjoy indoors now and Be careful where you throw it when you take it out because if you if you throw a pussy willow down into loose soil or in the back of your compost pilots girl.

Magnolia sweep magnolia seems to be well suited for the weather. We have had it can live in a ditch on North Carolina. It can low girl even in moist soils here in Ohio. It is a wonderful tree can be oil. It can get up to thirty feet tall. But that's exceptionally rare. I would say eighteen to twenty feet. It can be a single stemmed tree. If you train it that way, usually, it's a multiple stem and you had to be a little careful. You don't let too many stems get going. So they crowd each other out with size. They can be used as I said in the wet spots. They can be used in full sun. They can handle a considerable amount of shade watched one in front of a literally, an old stone, house know when I started watching it, fifty plus years. Ago it was well significant size then it grew and then it grew and then it grew. And I kept wondering how long can those live will apparently quite a while because it's still there. That's that's good. Now they one of the beauties of that is its fragrance. It's a pretty white flour little on the creamy side, but whitish, but if you're down wind or down breeze on a on a quiet well early June day evening, whatever you will notice a fragrance, that is almost too strong, and, and actually, so now, seldom does it give you a problem. But it's just most pleasant even if you're walking someplace and on a rare occasion, I know where there are three of them in fairly close proximity. And if you drive by their slowly in the evening, more or less at the expected seat speed in, in a city. You can actually smell it in the air. That is, is factually, wonderful, the flowers are, oh, I don't know, three inches high three, she's across if you, if you walk up to smell one of protests, slowly not because of bees and other insects or anything about nature is just it can be a little overwhelming if you get to darn close. So that's one of its attributes the other is it has kind of agreed green. Leaf of good, solid color. It is beliefs going to be six inches or more long to two and a half wide, those leaves then come on early in the spring, they then go into the summer winter at cetera and can almost act like evergreens believes will probably there will probably be a portion of leaves still on after Christmas into the first of the year. So if you've used it for screening it still gives you some screening on through there happened to be because my recommendation. On the side of my sons patio. They're, they're there for screen is just to keep neighbors happy, where they don't have to look at each other and still can without any problem by walking around the edge of them. It is it is out earlier in the spring, not really but out early enough to precede most patio use. And then it keeps its foliage well past the comfort level on a patio in the fall. So it's good for that. It's good for a specimen, tree. Thanks again for listening to our podcast brought to you by I'd products at Bonn dot com. What God Did in Uganda, Part 3
"The word of truth so we can worship God in spirit and truth deepening our knowledge of God thereby enabling us to deepen our love welcome to where we are studying to show ourselves approved rightly you were Church conference you contact at Justin Peters dot before we got there with his arrest right right so well a couple of things that happened to him first of all he experienced of course we're going over to to a pastor bill has organized basic- basically a preaching I will never forget the first the first preaching venue that you and I had go ahead and tell us about your Catholic school the Catholic school was full of refugee children from Sudan and from other people that have their children there and bill had board members of Justin Peters Ministries but I've been joined last couple of programs with Mike Miller and he began by sharing with us a little bit about his hit list to to to visit but nonetheless it is it is one of the one of my trips I think I've been to if I'm counting right I think I've been to twenty four two or circuit forest I suppose in Uganda so we go over there we were there for what right at two weeks right and minds you and yours doing well and I want to thank you for joining me my friend and board member he is he along with Jim Osmin are the hands out and so I just wanted you to hear dear ones from from a friend Mike Miller as he tells about how this trip came to be and Mike we left off in our last talking about our trip that we took to Uganda this was Mike's first international trip and so here you got Graham talking about how kind of things blew up in in bills church but let's give let's give folks a little idea of some of the things that you and I oh he after he the American missionaries had fired him because he was confronted him on the Prosperity Gospel Bill got a job if he competed like sixty dollars a month or something and had a little apartment at two guys going over rather unlikely kind of kind of odd couple we a CPA by trade and a little different countries now and and all of my trips and been very very fruitful by God's grace and in meaningful in their own right but this trip to Uganda really St uh-huh to Ghana it's like having a a celebrity show up so they're they're people came from from foreign wide and they had been that that then you over and The you know looking at losing his job there they kicked him out of his apartment for having church they kicked him out of the yard of the school having church there ended up basically getting fired over it in that process there's a local I call him a Benny Hinn figuring Africa and he had shared the Gospel with his students got converted quite a few and they were evangelizing the school he showed Gospel the DVD and we had sent him on into a tree and you know slap around little bit when he was standing there handcuffed to the tree his family watches the other data get drug off in your recollection go take it take it from there okay yeah filling any holes I mean the the one thing to keep in mind as bill they've gone out of his way to try to get other churches involved in common people have come from all over because you know one of the corners come and travel so everybody in Africa was going there everybody in Kampala was going to the dance the heaven dance or whatever they called it to to get paid and bill took some Some Gospel DVD's wipe crippled boy preacher and we're going over to to Uganda not not exactly not exactly a country that's almost people's testimony and how God delivered him out of the secret sensitive deception than false understanding of the Gospel and we've kind of been progressing entity beating I'm thinking he'll have passed over here in America they wouldn't suffer the the minor inconvenience of having somebody complain about them over adultery the incentive there hand out to people that were going to this venue and he was handing them out with his family there and he was accosted by you know if if I may interrupt you just for single I'm thinking about that because what you just said can jog something tell our tell our listeners what happened to build when he was a bigamist and not top of some harasses that he had that he was you know committing adultery wanted his his lives the aboard their child you know dragged him out of his house taking thrown in jail you know so and bill was there for a couple of days or not but the thing called the the the some sort of dance festival came in he danced under the power of spirit enough you get paid cash and so the Church confronted him and we need to front him over his sin of with the desire for him to repent and he refused to repent excommunicated the guy on the church and when they excommunicated substantial money for African standards and everything to risk and he didn't he confronted him and bill suffered you know physical eighty letting go that was the second time getting roughed up by the police a prior time different long story if I could share it here if you want zoom it was something bad about this this false prophet and so they they took bill they'd be slapped him around a little bit him in the back room and all the without bill the dad gets hold up the cops and witnesses to the police officer in God Converts Officer and they I'm he you know he threatened to kill Emmy you know stalled camera from bill and all of a sudden you know Stephanie had his police officer friends come in Granville in in Africa there's no there's no corpus in Kampala when they arrest you you don't know what's GonNa Happen to you and you know they just go home due church discipline and yet it's the first command that Jesus gave to his church and pastors don't do it because it's not like they don't know matthew eighteen as for our baptist in most people go to a church of some sort you know and but I I'm I'm struck by how help L. Very very few there there there are a few but there how very very few churches even in the Bible belt or anywhere in the United States but but especially in the Bible belt in the in the Bible belt in the United States when you know half of the half the people in in the in the in the in the south or roughly like the the sacrifice yeah yeah I mean right you know it easy to to claim to be Christian this man's They own the police there so the police came in you know what are what are the DVD you're watching what is this DVD you're handing out you know they okay so what happened is bill had very poor people there's one guy in the church that can pay for everything that's guys carpenter and the Church had had out that this guy was living look bad or the friend to get mad and this bill knew this guy was connected he knew this guy was a former police officer he knew this guy was the only one in this church that was paying money to the church on a regular basis else church that this guy left but he still had issues in this church in and we saw that that first day there there's a woman teacher who wanted to be co pastor there who is basically you know and I thought when I remember when he told me about this the questions years ago you know there's so many passes it wouldn't confront somebody in the Church over sin because they're afraid that they'll it by not confronting the folks that had the heresies and we're talking about some major hairdresser talking about you know what kind of the teaching children doctrine and home just totally failed on it I mean it it could looking back it it'd be forced to me the difference between you know some things that happened in our modern American church and what Rupa she and it looks group was there there was tons speaking there was you know whirling dervish type chanting and yelling and singing in a kind of ecstatic utterance on top of some other practical issues they will not confront them over there all because they're afraid of making the man and it didn't help it destroyed that church neither tell everyone to lay down on the floor now and you know they're in the middle of the service he's trying to preach in this one will get up and do some nonsense like that she was you know destroyed you know it's a cultures tells us not loving but God tells us loving what are you gonNA listen to a culture you can listen to God's word and in this case here it's it it really saved a lot of it confronting this man pleading with him to repent and you know getting falsely arrested and beat up and chain down in some pit in the ground the weather person's called to preach is based on whether or not they have a personal anointing you know whether they can emotion emotively get people won't up to do destroyed from within I mean it totally undermined everything that God was doing there as far as you could tell they started their evangelism the people that had dedicated themselves her doctrine on extra biblical divine revelation. You know she would she bill related to me that she'd stand up and say the only spurs mystery in that Church was divorced care and in the past would not confront these people over the Senate was church discipline no church discipline at all and you know here's here's bill stated them but not confront those folks that were that were walking in sin and it didn't help the people that were walking in sin still talking incentive so it does nothing good Gary number going to half the Sunday school classes committing adultery glass sign and the largest me estimate and bill had invited a lot of folks there in Pentecostal is very heavy there and a lot of the mystical the mysticism of that loudest I mean it was you I you'd have the Muslim call to prayer you know at least in the morning and then later the Christians will start yelling and I walked in and as we walked in I was thinking this is strange fire we we just walked into strange fire and I'm thinking no I I was I remember that first that first engagement that you and I both preach there two nights and walked in this this big tent you know the big white tant that they had set up and I can remember walking in that looking at that that absolute chaos and this was this I had no idea I mean I wept I remember I was I was these people a lot of folks were going along with this because it quickly by Fred Fred being our translator he was preaching against himself through us he was preaching against the very thing should do something and if you remember on Sunday morning that whole towns and the like just a catatonic roar I mean every church trying to outdo each other by you could be so what in the world do they have any idea what we're about to teach and I'm I'm just I mean I I was just stunned and and had no yeah I mean it's right there between Matthew Seventeen and Matthew nineteen kind of hard to know absolutely and you know and that last week onto before we planted what's going on there and I I was I knew from what bill had told me that they was there were some issues that was bad idea what was about to happen but the the guy the front was the The ringleader of all this who relator come to find out and we know his name is Fred over and that's how you know that took a lot of courage and Africa you don't know you don't know if you're gonNA leave interest just GonNa put a bullet in your head and dead is right before the strange fire conference you and I went in April of two thousand thirteen strange powers in October and and he is going to be speaking at that and didn't nobody ever told them it was wrong nobody ever told them that this was necessary they they in the African churches spokesman of stimulator a person and he was he was our translator and As you Anna Preach Mike I don't remember who went first you or me but but we both preach but based and there was no order there that's for sure was a catatonic shock to the system I remember really false. Teachers had to watch the watch the entire Gospel. DVD deceive had any bad about the minute you know which is just providential anyways and then it took bill out back and you know Hanson they do not placating the evil he's not gonna convince a heretic you know to repent by telling them Harris Okay something big of a deal I do God's work we've got to take an add some cultural trappings to to make it meaningful and so in America becomes eighties week here's it's the same thing it's the flesh right trying to do God's work in the energy of the flesh concrete room that's twenty feet wide at application I wanted to break his equipment when we were sitting there in India because it was so loud was hurting right and it's it's endemic with our with our nature and but what we saw was profound for me in this trip the most profound thing was that just the simple and clear undermine the preaching of God's Word and she wanted to supplant the Persian God's word with their own notions about what people ought to do and when she she came to be thing got people in that Church and that was my translator if you remember we showed up at the the first one on an influence just preaching from God's word and it almost seems like some of these folks had never had somebody show them in the scriptures is to drink in the Lord separate issues we're talking about open theism issues right you know the semi Pele jainism issues it's not gonNa it's a major theological problems long screaming competitions competition where everybody's yelling at the top of their lungs and then you've got In India it's the guy has to have an amp for for the explanation from scripture on a few just a few of the practices the tongue speaking that first time that the first tent meeting or whatever was profound at the church where everyone dresses up in east close African ends up fan I'm not you know whatever's the big sixteen hour those are walking in those disorderly doctrines practices they're going to they're going to get upset about it and he did outstanding what they were doing and why does she do and even with bill gave bill the courage to stand up against some of the folks in his church shooter you know Satan was using to destroy Dan and and he'd he'd hit fallen into the deception and a lot of people had fallen into the tongue speaking in and getting up and then whooping it up at that was power amazing things with Frederick on that trip and I've I've kept some contact with and he's a genuine You know at this point I mean he's genuine ladies there than in some other cohorts behind this demonic influences describing but when they see the truth in black and white from their bibles they see it in its explained to them it's talked to them a sheep will repent you could see God's just from God's word that moving people that changing changing their their their you said and and my you know you and I didn't go there we didn't tell any funny stories we didn't we didn't entertain anybody ended up in a hyper Pentecostal Church in poor Fred Y- bill known for a long time and Fred did aspel itself or whatever we're leaving and they'll say how can I how can I possibly repeated would be said when we went through the verses in in the biggest issue there which is the biggest issue I think across the world including in the United States is the the idea that scripture is not sufficient enough in we saw people humbled we saw people broken we saw people repentant once they saw the truth and they'd bent the need to it and of course uh-huh what he was just doing as we walked into the US only God can set that up I mean how else would to Baptist preacher Oh after we left and she basically called him into an ultimatum saying either you repeat everything that might congestion said about speaking in tongues or the Prosperity Gospel about the where did you find these Mizzou's we can't believe these are Americans. They were shocked that they were stunned. I'm you and I were they were too polite to show that to as much but to know that that's what you expect from sheep sheep can be in error was it was a lady and there was a cohort of hers was also involved in it was you know a couple fiction immagination you know when the truth is proclaimed like that I'm GonNa do something with it I mean for that was the Holy Spirit's power and it's not always I mean he could do that at a rock concert and that's always power and the and the destroy it this woman witchcraft lady will have her that was did everything in her power to try to Americans because all they've ever seen from American preachers are what they see on Christian television and tragic as on the television we didn't other than are just are are the way we look to them because they were united we would be driving around in in people look over also founded extremely profound in that you know even in my own experience as a as a baby Christian when I was confronted with with doctoral issues in I don't know if you remember that I'm sure you do but one of the one of the most common comments that what what was it Kabuki village that it was but you know we didn't we didn't entertain by we just got up and we preached from God's Word and that's it and everywhere we went Mike I don't remember how many different venues no we saw some of the other we saw some people getting Korean you know take their toys and go home and but but it was just the power of God's Word Alcorn CDs to white guys and they'd point especially the little kids they point was soon goo Goo only ashamed at being the need to the truth goats don't and we saw both there and of it as evidenced by what she you know can't and so of course of course we left sand that wasn't your translator that day was or is that the same that was I had never had someone tell them to be Marines regards to these things and it had a profound influence on everybody repented by if I remember correctly when when we got when we got there bill was I mean clearly brother clearly no doubt about that and and very much individuals that's all they knew about Americans a matter of fact some of the opposition they have their from the the more biblical people was blown bring a bunch of Americans here for gene now the Holy Spirit conviction and brings repentance on those issues when they brought up so we we shouldn't hesitate to bring those issues news you and our preached at but it was a number of them I mean we are in a different place almost every day and everywhere we went we saw the same thing ah the divers coming back to mining all that everything would be done decently in an order of thinking where's where's the quietness and the gentleness of saints coming together singing against the word faith movement but after our time there and in the year since bill has become much more reformed oh anymore is he no no he's he's he's a cessation est yeah absolutely and what's interesting is people that in his his doctrine of salvation he's embraced the doctrines of grace correct correct and he's he's not pentecostal alley five channels if you remember and on the five channels I think two of them were prosperity preachers from America and even that one seminar in the entire country was founded by one of those for another program difference thank you very much for joining me I'm sure this is encouraging you it's encouraging an edifying me hearing it all over again even though I was one that was there and and bills case part of that means was that conference they're part of it was God's Word Parv other Christians that we introduce bill to people are before we got over there bill nye still had a close connection because he was he was a believer just those areas of the I mean obviously do it in a loving way you know with a with a sound mind but to bring them up he he got somebody who's got a heresy of a sending issue with them also within the costal forget it we're not going to go there and preach how would have ever happened and I remember at the end if the end of that two weeks build so Mike thank you for joining us and do you WanNa thank you for listening and join us next program until then may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ America Pastor Yeah Kabuga village there was a it was one of the larger venues that we had and pastors were coming up to bill afterwards and they said brought the only white people they're pretty much like winning lady and the only fat guy in the entire country I think one of the person you're probably person with crutches so I mean it yeah I like that dropped him the label he had go ahead their stuff is we've heard before and it was

"There was an interplay between the small and intimate and the grand communal spaces within the building the high gallery. One of the first exhibition space is off. The ramp is a double-height gallery approximately twenty feet tall open and Airy. It's an Alcove that we must step up into ascending three low stairs. This gallery has unusual portions. It's a fraction of a large Q like a triangular wedge looking back and up. We see a semicircle opening on the wall where people stand on a level above us looking down into the gallery their presence on the ramp above us framed by the semicircle window makes it feel as if they might deliver a speech Throughout the museum over looks like this reveal the interconnected nature of the building stepping back onto the ramps. We are again in a human scale space thoughts feelings about nine feet high. However above us for most of the Rams coils, We have a sense of a comfortable environment in terms of sound and movement around us as we continue up. There are alternate paths into other spaces off of the Spiral. Behind the Rotunda of the tower galleries rectangular spaces with flat floors and high ceilings with a measured expansive feel. Tucked behind the large column skewering through each floor. You'll find an entrance to These Quiet galleries or an Overlook to view the tall rooms from above. Stepping out of the Rotunda into an adjacent side Gallery were drawn into another low ceiling Gallery space some note that the space feels claustrophobic in contrast to the openness of the Rotunda a While others feel stabilized in a comfortable scale with a level floor. above or hemispherical skylights like bubbles different forms shape the space a tight elliptical stairway sits in the center of the gallery and columns within the gallery Echo the elliptical form. One level up in the Museum Cafe, floor-to-ceiling Windows. Look over the Treetops of Central Park and also offer a closer view of the rotunda's exterior these idiosyncratic spaces of old as we deviate from the main path allowing us to experience the building and you Throughout the museum. You can choose your own path. We might step from the bright rotunda into the tide elevator on Mike most elevators. It is a semicircle. Like we're inside half a cylinder off. We feel compressed not only by the shape of the walls, but also by the color a deep dark red which stands in stark contrast to the rest of the buildings bright tones off while the building is predominantly circular. There are moments of great geometric shift ducked behind. The rotunda's elevator is a staircase where the dominant shape is the triangle looking up or down to sneak. Well Center creates a void in a perfect equilateral triangle through five floors. We can feel where the walls meet at 60 degree angles. The shape of the stairway is echoed in the office decided light fixtures embedded in the ceiling these triangular lights. Also appear above us every few Paces along the Rotunda slower ramps. Throughout the museum Sidelines confirm or confused our sense of scale looking up from the Rotunda floor the narrowing void creates a forced perspective making the oculars appear higher than it is the size of people on the ramps disturbs the forced perspective. Sometimes all it takes is a child's head peeking over the ramp wall to break the illusion.

Episode 599, recorded 2020-12-01
"Good morning it's iowa mala and it's tuesday december. The first here. We are the last month of the year moving into our holidays. Another holiday season. So it's quite a time. It's a really peaceful week for me. A fewer classes and kind of a nice calm. Calm week ahead. i think so what i'd like to do today. Thought it would be a good day just to have a more time with a meditation and then you can pull it up and use it anytime you you want to just sit and practice so there might be some noise outside. I see an ambulance pulling up and so that probably won't bother us or affect us. So why don't we check in with ourselves. And then continue just sitting. I'll to a. I'll guide this very lightly but let's start with a body scan which more and more i think is such a good way to begin any meditation because if we're working on being mindful we need to be sure that we're working with our entire body because our body is the is so important for us. We won our mindfulness. To be totally connected. We want her body her mind and her heart all connected. That's that's the mindfulness that we're talking about. Everything is working together. everything is integrated so. This is an embodied. Mindfulness so we need to always be in our bodies. Were not trying to go outside of our bodies. Look down at ourselves or leave the body. That's not our spiritual practice it is to be to really be and this body and that we work with our senses and everything coming through our sense stores and that's where we begin so when we practice of course we want her body to be comfortable so it doesn't become a distraction but we live twenty four hours a day in this body and we know sometimes it isn't comfortable and sometimes there is pain physical pain and other times. They are Non-physical disturbances they're saying society and worry in restlessness and that feeling of a kind of laziness or just a lethargy or sometimes just being really tired so the more we understand our bodies and the more we can work with them the better our practice will be and will be able to look at all of these things as they're happening to us which belts are mindfulness. We can look at those conditions of the body and investigate them and a lot of times then we can learn how to release whatever is going on that keeps us from being comfortable in her bodies because our bodies might be so So are so restless or we may feel so tired or so Just flat out so working with her body is always important and then we can begin to work with thinks the emotions that are created from a feeling center body and from all those things coming in through our sensory since stores that we can work with the emotions that come up as our as our mind. Our brain gets involved with those so. Let's two quick body scan will start kind of flowing through the body and then we'll go into a mindfulness practice so let your body be comfortable fine the position that allows you to relax. Let me be sure. I have enough volume here. Maybe more okay. So let your posture be allowing you to be upright letting your spine the Uplifted is a better way to describe it because you might be on the floor on your back right now so you can still feel your spine stretching out creating almost creating space between each vertebra and then just telly. Close your eyes relaxing with each sale and just observing your body doing the breathing for you. We don't have to exert any extra income at all. We see that our bodies taking care of the breath. And it's very natural if we have that spine. It's lifted up his very natural for our body to be able to breathe more oxygen in or breathing energy in the energy that our body needs from our breath. We don't have to force our body to breathe deeply. It's just happening more naturally and our lungs really need that energy that oxygen and just allow to happen. We can still feel are breath in our chest but can also feel it in her belly when we feel it in our belly. That's a good sign that we're getting more oxygen in so when we practice you can watch your breath by feeling your belly the rise when you inhale the contraction when you exhale are the other place where we typically watch. It is around our nostrils. That's a lot more subtle that much more subtle sensation. So sometimes that almost will feel like your breath goes away so choose one of those spots and see which one works best for you. Don't switch back and forth during one practice but you might try being aware of the sensations of your breath as you inhale. Feel that air going up into your nostrils as you exhale. You can feel that breath. That's a little bit more humid of the warm. Coming out of your nostrils rushing across your upper lip perhaps very lightly. We pay attention to our breath and i always liked to think a little butterfly on her nose easily disturb but just resting lightly. That can be your vantage point of yourself You relax anterior breath. You can feel your shoulders dropping a little bit with the check. Sale feel supported in your posture. If you need to rebalance yourself or realign yourself that's okay to make those moves because it will help you relax and be comfortable but try not to fidget. If you can just sit still want you have the right posture. And it's right for your body. Just allow your body to be still. Let's start at the top of our head with a body scan and we're just going to be moving through the body checking for any kind of tension or pain or discomfort and then we get four feet will come up and you can check your body inside and outside for areas where you feel that feel good or with no discomfort or you're aware of being relaxed and that part of your body so start at the top of your head south lowly come down through your skull being of any tension on the inside or tightness and on your scalp if you have tightness through your head from a headache or tightness may be. There's tightness through your eyes. If you're is tired or you've been squinting or you have a headache that comes through your eyes. If it's the end of the day you may have been on the computer and your eyes are tired. So move through. That band was also the back of your head when you come to. Your jaw is often a lot of tightness and our jaw jaws so let that lower jaw dropped down just a fraction of an inch. So your teeth aren't touching and allow that lower jaw to let go of its tight grip at that joint. Keep noticing that. And if your teeth are not touching then it's working in the back of your head at the base of your skull. There might be. You might have a feeling that your head isn't balanced on top of your spine. You can adjust that safe. You can make it feel like it's to us balancing perfectly on your spine. Meditation lifted spine. Then you can bring your chan- dale a bit so your head isn't rising and taking you backwards. Steering her practice. Be aware of your chin coming down a bit. Odd keep relaxing us waco aware of the tension or tightness or any pain. You feel come down through your neck into your shoulders on each. Xl higher shoulders. Drop a little bit. That's good they're relaxing into your upper arms. Whenever you come to a joint in your body pay some attention to that. Especially if you have some stiffness down into your lower arms and through into your hands through your wrist into your hands and your fingers and if you're clenching them together just put one palm. You're right palm on top of your left and just let your fingers extended and relaxed. See if you can set that way and just let them be open and that he's come back to your upper trunk and be aware you can feel a little of your breath in your upper chest but you feel all of it there. You're probably anxious or angry or have some kind of pressure on you. You went to breath to be down lower to feel your breath or in your belly if it's in your upper chest there's anxiety or distracting emotions on three your mid torso to your abdomen and down into your hips might be sitting all day or in one posture standing all day sitting all day. Her hips are probably in need of more variation. You may really realize it's time to get out for a walk. Try to find a balance. So you're you feel like your body is distributed evenly on each side. I posture where you're being careful with your spine down in your hips. Your tailbone tucked under who've into your legs feel strength there. Is there through your knees. You lower legs and your feet and when you feel your toes give them a good way call now from your toes will move up reverse the direction and we're going to move up the body but this time i want you to feel the areas the aware of the absence of pain or tightness or any attention as be aware of those spaces in your body so begin with your toes your feet on the earth so you feet may be on the earth or you might be under back. Feel your body touching earth even the floor. If it's twenty feet twenty stories up at floor can still be your birth into your legs looking for the lack of tension the lack of tightness the absence of pain into your hips. Even if you have pain and your hips you may have arthritis or trouble in your lower back. And your hips look for the areas. Find the areas that are not experiencing pain. Listen to your lower abdomen. Not touching your belly you might want to check in with your breath through your belly looking for the absence of any distress or tightness or tension home thinking about it just looking for that. The absence of the unpleasant feelings. Move up to your mid tour so same thing and your upper torso come back here fingers in your hands. Make sure they're still unclenched but notice even even if you noticed Tightness soreness he kind of tension earlier. Now i want you to notice good feelings. The absence of any pain the absence of tension. Are they relaxed. Are there parts. Are there parts of your hands and your fingers. That just feel perfectly fine then happened your lower arms up into your arms men joining your torso at the shoulders and are your shoulder. Still coming down a little bit with each sale. Not as good feelings which are just the absence of the uncomfortable feelings to your neck in up into your head. Utah through that area around. Her is your forehead. All of your scou- all the way up through the top of your head. Now just allow your attention to rest like that little butterfly. Just be aware of your breath of your body breathing for you now. We keep our eyes closed if we can. And that's just to eliminate some of the visual distractions. We still see light and sometimes color on the inside of our eyelids so there can be. That can be enough of a distraction. But we don't try to close off our sense doors. Were still aware of sound. Taste smell touch but we don't want to be learning not to be distracted by those things we can be aware of them. We don't have to get sidetracked thinking about what they are whether they're irritating or not now. Our our mind is also considered a sense. So we're we're also aware of our thoughts. We don't try to stop them. We don't try to shut off our thinking because that would be way too big of a struggle. We don't wanna create resistance because that will just increase our thoughts. Such be aware of your thoughts. But we don't to pay them feed them with our attention. Just be aware that they're passing through your mind and if we don't feed them with attention they eventually go away on their own. The very persistent ones will keep coming back and coming back and we just try to let them come back until they've realize that right now is not when we're going to sit and think about them. We're just going to let them flow through our mind. Our mind is dick sky. The wide open boundless sky and our thoughts are just the little clouds at sometimes storm clouds. And sometimes just little little puffs and sometimes that sky is completely clear so if you have storm clouds passing across your mind it'll be harder to resist them. The little puffs we can just easily let them go but remember that the big big open space big mind. Boundless sky is always there. So just keep coming back to your breath if you're in a peaceful place and your life and your day in this moment and you feel calm. It's much easier to sit and be with your mind but we don't always practice or wanted even want to practice just when our minds are peaceful and calm. Sometimes we need to use our practice to help us calm the the mind the fine piece and those situations we may want to look more closely and investigate. Some of the things floating through our mind are some of the feelings. The emotions that we've that we're trying to work with today. Were just watching our breath and letting those clouds just pass through our mind. Most of our thoughts are totally unnecessary. But we sometimes don't even realize that until we do begin to learn how to meditate then we can just see the kind of things that our mind is full of. How much of it we don't need but we work very gently with our with the mind. Carrie patient my time is up for today. Feels really good being here with you. I just would like to sit and keep practicing. But i do have to to end our time together. So we don't get into a whole different like many eerie treat but keep sitting if you can and just allow yourself to feel the peace in the calm tranquility. It's available to us all the time we in practice until we can bring it into our lives very quickly and smoothly but it takes takes takes time and patience so remember. Don't just sit twin. You're already feeling peaceful and calm. Sometimes if we're in the midst of a very strong disturbing emotion that's the most wonderful just be an observer just be observed her don't think about it just observant so have a beautiful day and i'll see you thursday and if it's nighttime have a lovely peaceful sleep be rested thank you.

Oh energy less desirable <hes> physical form that is not serving us so. Let's take this journey together. I we're going to just get into our bodies. The first way you can do that is just to breathe. Take some nice big deep breaths. He can even make some noise on that. Exhale exile out any stress that you might be feeling and just focus on your breath breath right now as we imagine the breath traveling through the body with your next series series of breaths. I want you to imagine that you're breath can travel into your shoulders breathing into your shoulders and in releasing any tension that you might be holding in your shoulders breathe into your arms in your hands and your fingers imagine breath traveling all the way through your arms breathe in imagine that you're breathing deeply into your chest all the way into your chest into the lowest parts of your lungs breathing leaving into your back your shoulder blades breathing all around this midsection as you breathe bringing more awareness of that part of your body without judging how it feels or looks folks or is operating just breathe into it. Just be aware of that part of you the breathe into your belly into all of your organs breathe into your lower back softening your lower back with your breath breathe until your pelvic floor lor imagining that you're breath is just filling your pelvic floor like a basin like a big bowl filling here body with breath with your next breath now breathe into your your hips energizing your hips breathe into your thighs into your knees breathe into your legs and into your feet and your toes and i want you to imagine now with your next breath that you become aware aware of your body's edges. Just notice your skin everywhere beyond your clothes. Notice your naked maddie. Where do those edges and notice your body. How does it feel where is it in space notice notice how your legs feel notice how your chest feels notice how your neck feels and if any place feels like it needs a little extra attention. Just just shake a little energy into that shake your arm. Shake cure legs back and forth just move so you can wake up every part of your body. That is the first or step on this. Imagine imagine that there's a broom that you can take a magic broom that you can use that can start at the very top of your head and it sweeps down anything that no longer serves you. It's sweeps it down through your entire body as you breathe it out down through those energetic like roots down into the earth you sweep away in your mind any negative thoughts or worrisome worrisome thoughts that is kept you back that has held you in a limited way. Just sweep all those down with if your mind's eye with your imagination your intention your visualization breathe and sweep all that down with your next breath sweep through your chest and through your arms and through your back doc body sweeping as if when that broom touches your cells and the space between the cells it automatically grabs what his no longer serving you what is no longer in your highest good and it grabs it and brings it on down through ooh your body down through your roots and into the earth no matter how dense or our foreign that substance might be this magic broom of your own intention incheon can grab it and move it out of you who sweep gently yet thoroughly thoroughly through your entire body your front body every organ every system your back body you all the way through down through your legs sweeping anything no matter how old it is no no matter how big scary it might be you can sweep that energy now out of you through your you're energetic cords and into the earth all the way through your body sweeping sweeping sweeping breathing continue to use the breath to move anything out that no longer serves you moving out discomfort moving out limitation moving out disease. He's breathe all of that out from the top of your head all away. Hey down through the bottom of your feet down deep into the earth and the fourth and final step is to imagine that the top part of your head opens up like the most beautiful flower ever a thousand pedaled old lotus opens to your spiritual source to the power of all that is and if you do not have a relationship with a <music> spiritual presence i invite you to open yourself up to the possibility of of a perfect source of healing and inspiration and and guidance whatever that might be that might just be your higher self whatever ever it is for you imagine that source of unlimited power right above you filled with light filled with such power to heal that instantaneous healing can take place with this supreme source imagine that supremes source enters into your flour and begins to rain down upon in you inside of you this perfect energy of healing balance strength forgiveness forgiveness acceptance love this perfect source rains down upon you and inside of you cleansing every cell and every space between the cells and fills in all those empty gaps where we have just taken away those frequencies those diseases diseases and dysfunctions and discomfort fill those empty spaces now with this light this perfect vibration of healing this perfect place fill yourself up now with this presence. It's all the way through your body through your arms through your hands through your fingertips cbs through your chest through your back body into every single organ breathe and let that source rain down upon you and fill you fill your entire body all the way down to your feet aw with this perfect perfect energy breathe and feel your body feel your body in a new frequency now that has new life life force in it feel yourself grounded into the earth and grateful to the earth for taking all of that talks ick energy that you sent out into it and have it automatically transmute that negative energy that you gave the the earth and have the earth take that energy and use it for her own healing use it in such a good and right way feel all that gunk move out of your body and feel the goodness the light the perfect healing frequency entering into you and now that the journey that you took with me. That would be a great addition to your landscape now for this week's Bonn, I products plant of the week. Fred your plan to the week the plan of the week is which as well. Now, it's not a new plant of the week. I probably have used at the last three years. But I I'm still let's just say spellbound on coming to the point of frost, usually it precedes or comes right at my birthday on the tenth. It didn't show much flour until the beginning of last week. And now it's about half full bloom. It's yellow in foliage, it's yellow in flower color, and it happens to stand between me and a spruce tree. So that yellow and that spruce behind it really make that plant outstanding it by and large. It's the last full blooming plant of the season. Now, which Hazel, I'm gonna just say is two kinds. We'll not get into the study of them. But there's the one that I have which blooms in the fall. And right at my birthday time. Most often it is yellow, but there are new varieties of it too. Then it's cousins, and they are multiples are plants that bloom in February or thereabouts. I happen to have one of those. Also, I'm playing games with it. I'm making it grow up against a fence in a shady spot in the backyard just to see if I can do it. And so far I have to be very careful only in that. I'm not out in the backyard. When it blooms I have to know about when it's going to happen and being normally sixty seventy feet from it. I don't see it. But at the same time, which as oil is a plant coming on strong as small trees, go wonderful for shade, Ohio. Native handles our soil's for most part euros in full sun as well as shade. So which as will keep your eye open in the marketplace for new cultivars? When you have a need for a small tree oil. Let's just say under fifteen twenty feet and blooming it odd times.
