"But it's best you resist, and instead consider a model that several years into its redesign Life. Consumer reports, analysis shows vehicles tend to be most reliable by the final year of any particulate model run after many of the bugs have been worked out and least reliable in the first year of a redesign. With a model redesigned, the name usually stays the same. While the body transmission engine and other parts might get updates. It may also have more desirable features. But with those changes come hiccups or malfunctions, which automakers addressed through recalls or revisions for future builds. In this way, the vehicle matures into improved reliability. In general. Consumer reports found it can take automakers 2 to 3 years or longer to address problems in newly redesigned models. For example, CR reported the 2017 Honda Odyssey as reliable. But multiple problems in the 2018 redesign caused the mini event to lose its recommendation. Still, there are brands such as Toyota and Lexus that often have fewer glitches with their redesigns. If you're looking for a new ride and want to follow, CR is advised to steer clear of a potentially problematic redesign. Do some research in advance? No. Whether the model you're considering is a brand new day view. If the car is a full redesign, Ask the dealer if there are any previous generation models available. If you still want that new, redesigned model, but don't want to run the risk of first year troubles, wait a year for the wrinkles to be ironed out..

Ford employees ask the company to stop making police cars

"Motor Company is out with a Ah, process that they're going through about 100 employees have gone public with their request to the automaker to stop selling police vehicles because Police are brutal and they're racist. Ford executives are weighing the request and have not yet made an announcement. But there's a lot of pressure on social media for Ford to tell police departments they will no longer sell. The vehicles to them. So what is Toyota get vehicles them selling, you know, picking up the slack market share because right now serious, San Diego has Toyota four runners the SUVs. So I mean, thie employees air urging the cut that their boss the company do not make and sell. Ah police units. Ah, police cruisers to city so that Some other. There's still gonna be police cars. Why would you not want to get your fair share of that market place? If your employees of Ford apparently, these people don't want their jobs, I mean, I would put them on the top of the list of fire. All right, somebody safe and your name to the layoff list If we lose the contract, you know, with the Tuscaloosa, Alabama Police Department that you're the 1st 1 to relinquish your well, why don't you just quit forward then? I mean, why? Why? Why does four have to stop making the product? That's what they're in the business of doing is making automobiles. Yeah. Bia Social Justice warrior full time. You don't need to work out. Ford, you know, support is not consistent with your values. So be a social justice warrior. Put your money where your mouth is and quit your job, mate. This This is absurd. I've decided. I don't like it. Don't don't want to give Ah police Cruiser to Ah! Ah, car to the police. But does that mean that you also are going to use 901? I'd love to get the name of the 100 people and block their ability from their cell phone to dial 911 is apparently where they don't need no police and there's their community. They don't need cars. They don't need police. So no. 911 for you. I mean, this is where you start pointing out the Um, the bankruptcy of some of these folks in terms of what they're saying, their advocate and and the absolute absolute juvenile nature of these causes. I mean, this is child's play, right? I mean, this's not thoughtful. This isn't academic. This isn't deep. This isn't even You know, argumentative. I mean, this is this is just this is foolishness. This is this is child's play. The head of Ford has sent a letter to employees and it it reads in part, quote as we meet weekly in our global team huddles. Invariably there are questions that don't get answered, given the short time we have together. Or simply would be better addressed off line. On it goes on to talk about. Ah Ah, you know the fact that quote Bill Ford, and I believe deeply that there is no room for systemic repression and racism that have been exhibited by law enforcement encounters gone wrong. Um Your your product had nothing to do with it. Why are you taking ownership of part of the problem? You made the car. You didn't make the police officer or even the police officer's equipment or the rule book and I go back to having a CEO of a company. Come out with a statement like that. That that somehow they've made the judgment that racism was driving. Ah, ah, the inappropriate use of force. Again. I don't think we can say that. I think it's nice to say Well, if the cop is white, and the suspect was black, the victim was black. So therefore it must be racism. That's a pretty lousy assumption to be making. And to have a CEO of one of our largest companies come out and basically validate that and then go on in a what is a nine paragraph letter explaining how they're wrestling with this decision about literally saying we're not gonna sell cars to a pretty significant portion. You know, we had at least I think 600 800 cars. Andi. I know that these are not cheap cars. So let's say that there because they're there outfitted with a bunch of special equipment and stuff. So let's say that these cars are 50 grand each for the city of San Diego. Alone. That's a $40 million hit for Ford. For just a cycle of vehicles $40 million. That's just for San Diego Police department, then multiply that by all the police departments across the country. Your shareholder and Ford. Relatively ticked. Out on the opposite end of the spectrum. I'm not a shareholder in Ford. I'm relatively ticked. I'm just relatively tick that the company is taking this kind of stance. Whether they're toward with their emotions. It's the car. It isn't the attitude of the law enforcement official. It isn't It isn't anybody. It's it's the inanimate object, but yet they feel like that. Somehow they're contributing to systemic racism by manufacturing, a police unit. Now on the other end of the spectrum. A CEO of a food company paid a small compliment to President Trump. A Rose Garden ceremony yesterday. And now he is facing calls for resignation, and even members of Congress have urged people to boycott the food manufacturer.

Why Did Mitsubishi Furlough the SpaceJet?

"Development of the Mitsubishi regional jet kicked off with great fanfare in two thousand, eight, the to family aircraft offered an environmentally friendly design and state of the Art Pratt and Whitney geared turbofan engines. It was also a milestone for Japan's aerospace industry, which has developed just one complete commercial aircraft since World War Two. The Y. S. eleven turboprop, which ceased production in nineteen, seventy four. Aircraft Lesser Titan Steven udvar-hazy told Mitsubishi at the time that if it could pull the program off, it could quote do what Toyota has done in cars and quote, first deliveries were targeted for two thousand thirteen, but that date came and went, and the program struggled with repeated delays. Recently rechristened the space jet, the program seemed to have stabilized, and then the covid nineteen crisis hit faced with its parent company's need to drastically cut expenses. Mitsubishi aircraft has suspended development of one of the to space. Joe Models halted test flights and wound down production. So. Can the program survive this setback? And how does it alter the already turbulent dynamics in the regional jet market? Joining me to try to make sense of all this are Bradley. Parrot, aviation weeks Beijing bureau chief who has followed the Mr J.. procreate spaceship program for many. And in Frankfurt, aviation weeks executive editor for Commercial Aviation Jens Flottau so, Brad, let's start with you. Would you fill us in on? What's going on with the space jet? Yes, there's a very apt metaphor we can use basically the programs being fellow D- Justice and employer over the past few months may have told her a worker to start working. Just go home, but bought consider him or herself sack. The the sorry Nyj I had space jet. Basic Development is basically being welcomed down to a very slow low level It's not being completely. Stop so far as I can tell and very little is happening for the moment for how long well we don't know, but just as an employee as being followed has not has not been set. The Emma J program has not been canceled. Sorry, spaceship program, forcet an Olympic explain exactly what what is flowing amounts to. The company has six prototypes which are being completed. There were four main tests light. Light, base, in Moses Lake in Washington that fleet was waiting for another aircraft, the sixth most recently built one, which is the one which is crucial cruise, one is the one that actually embodies the the standard of design which can be certified, and the aircraft was supposed to go was supposed to carry the main burden of the remaining flat testing that was a situation as about three months ago two months ago. what's happened now of course is that. Is that the mostly basis bay multiple? The small remaining there just to maintain the the prototypes. That's important. They're not being scrapped or anything like that to being maintained and that six prototype which has finally finished in March is still in Meghalaya, and that's where it's interesting for the moment. At the State of the program, most development is actually flight testing, and they're not doing The production will. Production is continuing for the eighth off seven speed finished. The eighth is, we'll be finished. But other production is being stopped. which will mean -Tory work. Flight testing work. What's left? The development engineering team, and that's going to be reduced to some extent, and that's basically what's going to be puttering along for the duration one lost. Important point is that. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries which is the majority owner of Mitsubishi. Aircraft decided in early May to go ahead with the purchase of Combodia CJ program, including factories that indicates love commitment to the program. Brats I'm I mean the the most intriguing part of the to be at least is the shelving of the M one hundred at the smaller. Version of the two, and as far as I can tell, they are going back to the Bronx drawing. Bolt for this program now that it has finally become a scope compliance the US. I'm just curious. Do you have any indications about what's that's relaunch might entail is becoming bigger is becoming smaller was a would at all. No simple answer is no. They probably don't themselves

How Questions Influence Pathways to Solutions

"Questions shape so much about our conversations and conversations are ultimately what lead us. Down various pathways of collaboration and action. So once you to imagine a chain of questions. That might result in a different outcome. Be probably heard. If you've been listening to this podcast or other similar podcasts, you may have heard of the five wise. We've talked about it a few times on the show and this comes from at least in popular culture. This comes from a Toyota Toyota. Has this habit of asking why until you get to a root right in their case? Typically it's a root cause of a particular problem. So why is something happening and you ask that? Why as you continue to? Higher levels, of abstraction. So you can imagine starting a problem with some kind of statement will use the classic one. I'd like to travel from one place to another faster. If you start by asking the question how you're very likely to iterating on whatever solution you already have. Likely to try to increase particular feature, factor or some kind of capability of something that already exists. But if you abstract away from the problem if you ask the question why? You could end up in many different solutions to the problem. For example if your answer is. To Save Time. Then I might ask the question. What are the other ways that you might save time? Perhaps the answer isn't faster traveled, but maybe autonomous travel. If, your answer to the question is. Well I'd like to get into work earlier. Perhaps, we should take travel out of the equation entirely. Maybe you can. Work from home. Or maybe we do genuinely find that we should. Increase the speed at which we can travel. And in order to do that, we change the form of travel altogether. But you can see that the different types of questions that we ask can Lena's two different solutions. And so the questions themselves can have come preformed for you. And you should practice asking various types of questions in given circumstances. Sometimes asking why or trying to abstract the problem further is a waste of energy, or it's not necessarily practical. It's not going to serve. Your actual goals so sometimes. If you have personality like mine where you want to jump straight to the abstract problems, it might help to force yourself to ask the question. What more often or how? How can we solve this problem? Now or what do we need to do today? These are ways of moving from the abstract. Back towards the more concrete, the more actionable items the you can address. Other. Questions can provide different lenses on a given problem for example when you add a timeframe to the problem. But say that you had a problem that you could spend six months solving to perfection, or you might instead view it from a timeframe. Lynn's of three weeks. Of course, this changes the solution. You're not going to get the same work that you would get done in six months done in three weeks, and so the solution to the problem and the level of abstraction that you might want. Want to go to those things might be framed by the question when I encourage you to look into how these questions can frame your pathway to solutions in all types of problems and play around with this imagine a problem that you're facing or even in retrospect look back at a problem that you've solved recently and imagine if you had to ask different questions along the way.

This time of year is people's thoughts turned to warm days and starry nights but this summer a brand new set of customers shelling out big bucks to travel the country on four or more wheels. There people who are too nervous to rent hotel rooms or to hang out in crowded cities and do not want to sleep in tents Bloomberg is calling them covid campers. Maybe you're one now. You can't be blamed if in the past you thought. Rv's weren't cool as Bloomberg noted the height of RV sales happen back when Richard Nixon was president in nineteen seventy two but our love affair with exploration didn't end interest. Grew again a few years back. In two thousand seventeen travelers bought a half a million. Rv's and then sales drooped once more until now in March when dealerships were closed RV sales fell twenty percent Bloomberg reports but dealerships. That are now open. Can't keep up with demand camping world holdings a publicly held. Rv retailer said. The first weekend in May was the company's biggest weekend in its history. The Motley Fool reported its stock price nearly tripled since the beginning of May camping world and many local dealers are selling to cova campers like Mike Roads and his wife Carol. The couple told Bloomberg that they'd been planning summer trips to Germany and New Zealand among other places but now they don't want to stay in hotels so they put a wash on their global adventures and instead bought a thirty thousand dollar travel trailer and used a Toyota. Pick up to pull it. The skittish couple is in very good company. Only seventeen percent of Americans feel comfortable staying in hotels or resorts right now and even fewer would take a domestic flight. That's according to a late April survey by M. G. Y. Global for the. Us Travel Association. The Wall Street Journal reported. But let's say you have no. Rv experience or you have no intention of spending thousands to own a motor home. Well two big

Tyler Gibbs and Jack Irving of Toyota Racing Development's TD2 driver development program

"Now. Let's get to part two of our conversation with Tyler Gibbs and Jack Irving just this I want to give you guys a chance to put some names with some faces here people who are listening. We've mentioned Christopher Bell. You guys mentioned Harris and Burton. I was reading a motorsports analytics story today in which Jack was quoted very highly on Chandler. Smith just wanted to give you a chance to tell us a little about. Who'S IN THE LINEUP? Right now and we're the names. We should be watching it from the Toyota racing development driver program. So it's funny. I think we have some remarkable kids coming up of all different ages all different ranges But it's still development like Chandler. Smith is is a gifted driver. I mean in in we've been with Chandler for three or four years i. I don't remember how long it's been a few years. He's been fantastic. He's always been a strong late model. Racer Kinda in his family team was was quite gifted enabled to kind of compete at a very young age with some very high level guys in racing and then he transferred that into Arca adventuring end and has been fantastic and the more he matures the better. He gets Which is really exciting. He's similar to like a younger Jones in that respect where he's young and been around it and he seemed so much older in a car and so much more mature in so that is translated into the truck races he ran last year and and I have some pretty high expectations of him as he does of themselves but he's definitely one of our up and comers that is on the young side mean seventeen and still developing and then obviously there's the Raphael Lazard the neckaces that we've been with for quite a while and I think most people know of Kazan truck races now. That were pretty happy about. And then there's there's lots of kids that we actively engage with and develop in all different areas were lucky not geographically focused either because we have teams all over the place and that's helped us engage with maybe some kids we probably wouldn't necessarily always get access to so there's some good kids in California. There's kids racing for Keith in Indiana. There's just there's just a lot of strong drivers out there the thing that's so interesting though. Is that their kids and kids. You never know what's going to happen so it's still development. I mean it's it's People. WanNa say whatever they want to say about how what what it takes to make it? But they're a work ethic focused drive a passionate WanNa do it is all super important to to make it and at some point maintaining that from fourteen fifteen. Sixteen seventeen is very very difficult to do. Know we can talk about it all the time about being focused in wanting it and all that but the proof is in Monday through Friday. And how hard? They're working what they're doing and to to be on top of their game and and for whatever reason at times that lapses and you know you could take a great kid who's Fourteen Jesse. Love is a kid we've been with since he was twelve. I think thirteen stupid. How young that was East we're really excited about him and you know then. There's kids like Geo celts. Who came out of nowhere in dirt and had outlawed program in in our racing with us and pavement. That's a little bit kind of a different road that he traveled and then we have Holly Holland and Greasy Trotter. Who really come aboard and done a really good job in kind of in all of our testing have looked quite good still have a lot of development to do. You know there's there's kids we lost Based on Ford coming in that is painful to so. There's I think there's a lot of good crop of young kids coming out racing and as long as they all continue to work hard developing keep good people around him then hopefully we'll see him down the road. We really good group. We have a good team of kids. it's exciting to them kind of interact with each other watch the quote unquote older kids. Who may not actually be older but have been in higher level than others and back and forth and so he has Jackson. We're really excited about about our kids. You mentioned most of the ones I attend to hit their Jesse loved Yosemite. I think Logan. Cv also part of the lineup. I believe I mean so. Logan was Logan is not as involved now. We still are working through some things to see if there's ways to work together it's just difficult to the process is difficult and how everybody fits in where they go. I mean Logan is ridiculously talented. I mean it's it's just finding the path and making it work is always hard. You know I mean you look at the McNally Lineup or venturing lineup with I mean. You have Corey Haim and drew dollar and Michael Self Austin Hills Rachel H at hr e and in. He's ridiculously good. And He's twenty four with two kids for God's sake so I mean it's awesome right. I mean in in in in Austin Hugely Involved Maximum Laughlin with with a jury in there. There is an amazing group of kids in. What's interesting is we're kind of lucky. We have some really driven dedicated guy who want participate and show up every day. And I mean that's what's crazy about the performance central a lot of those that we talked about minus the group their local to North Carolina. Right you get into dirt kids in our dirt. Kids are Cap. GotTa be the younger kids we've ever had consistently with Daisin Ken McIntosh and Buddy I mean it. Just these they're all babies right in and so they're and they're out. There racing are trying to raise eighty times a year. I mean it's it's just an amazing amazing situation but I think we've been very lucky. I mean part of it is. I think what we've done is a little bit different and and our teams of Baden in. That's been a big part of it. That's it goes back to what I said before. The integration of the teams is pretty special and something. I think I'm probably most proud about. Is that all those teams engage in actively discuss things with each other to try to help develop the drivers.

Elon Musk Says Tesla Suing California County, Moving Headquarters Out Of State

"Week. California started phasing in the reopening of business including manufacturing so when that was announced Tesla CEO Elon. Musk sent out a memo to ten thousand employees at a factory in Alameda. County telling them to come into work the next day but just a few hours after that memo the local government in Alameda County said not so fast they were keeping tighter restrictions in place and Tesla's factory was not allowed to open yet in response. Tesla sued and Monday. Musk said they're opening their factory. Anyway here to tell us all about this lawsuit and what it could mean for businesses and governments across the US is our reporter. Tim Higgins Tim. Thank you so much for being here. Thank you all right. Let's start with Tesla. What is Tesla arguing in this suit? One of the things that you must angry about is that The California state government has to open up again including manufacturing and he's arguing that essentially that the local government has overstepped its authority by saying that. Tesla's factory cannot reopen that. The governor's office allowing for the state to reopen and that the US constitution allows for these sorts of things so really Arguments at the county. Government is overreaching and then he made a comparison to another facility. That is a nearby county. What's his argument? There Tesla has its has one assembly plant in the US but it has a number of facilities around California that help with the business. And there's a factory that is not that far from the assembly pant that has in a different county and the people there are not facing the same kind of shelter in place restrictions. Tassels reason the question of why are why isn't a uniform wise? They're pointing to figures. They say indicate that the rate of infection is very similar Why is one place stricter than the other so? Musk actually went a step further and reopened TUSLA yesterday. Right surprising a lot of people Monday. Tweeting out that He was opening the factory starting production that day in fact he said he's going to be on the assembly line and that if the police show up to arrest people he should be the one that's arrested so let's just back up a little bit. This sets tesla apart from many of its tag counterparts right. I mean facebook and others have announced that they're not bringing employees back to the office for months. Why is Elon? Musk and tesla wire. Wise Tusla's taking such a big stand here exactly facebook and Google and others. They can largely do their work at home on computers. Were Tesla makes cars. It needs an army of workers in the factory banging on metal to build these vehicles so they can sell them and without the Fremont Factory Online. It doesn't have anything to sell here in the US eventually. The cars that they made prior the shutdown. They're not gonNA have anything. So if Tesla is going to take advantage of any potential economic rebound that something might occur in the months to come as the country learns to live with the Corona virus. It needs cars. The shutdown came at a bad time for Tesla. It was just a ramping up. Production of its newest vehicle. The Model Y Compact Sport Utility vehicle is a vehicle that Elon. Musk has said could be. The company's top seller analysts expected to do very well. It's a good segment for this kind of vehicle and really there was a lot of enthusiasm among investors about the year ahead and so what the Krono virus has done is essentially. Put everything on ice and The problem for you on musk. Is that this. Factory has been sitting Essentially vacant for weeks. Now and he needs the lifeblood of the company to kick back on. I guess comparing to facebook isn't quite fair. I mean the better comparison might be to other. Automakers what are we seeing Michigan do for example and how our automakers they're responding. That's some of the frustration that musk has been. Venting is that Michigan announced last week and then that they were bringing manufacturing back online this week so Monday. As Yuan is sitting there unhappy that his factory is an open open. Places in Michigan could come back online and he knows his competitors have already announced. Gm for Chrysler others that they're kicking up production GM and Ford. They're a scheduled to start assembly vehicles again next Monday and here in California. That's that's not the case so elon. Musk has taken it another step further. He also has threatened to move production out of California altogether. He's saying maybe to Texas. What kind of impact could his departure have on? The state would smell something that can happen. Overnight it's not as simple as picking up his tools and going to Texas and starting to make cars and a new factory I. It's much more complicated. And it's something that probably would take years to do but the effect would be dramatic. Tessa wouldn't be the first car company to pull out of California Toyota. Its headquarters for the US. North America used to be based on your La and they pulled out over the course of several years starting in two thousand fourteen and they went to Texas because in emerged part it's cheaper to operate their California had just gotten to expensive the factory that Tesla owns and California used to be a factory that was jointly operated by General Motors and Toyota in when GM wind bankruptcy left to Toyota and Toyota. Didn't want to didn't want to be there anymore. I wanted to go to someplace. Cheaper the state of California has in recent generation or so struggled to keep a car manufacturing and the Fremont factory the fact that Tesla was able to buy in two thousand ten and resume making vehicles there in twenty twelve was seen by the the region him by Government officials is a huge win and is something very important for the economy states. Local leaders across the country prize car factories. These are things they want. It means jobs. It means economic investment. It means all the and things that go with with that so it's not just the car factory it's the suppliers and the ecosystem that creates and brings into the community so this kind of threat in some ways was almost going nuclear to say that he was going to pull out of of the state now a lot of people are saying or asking was was just because he lost his temper. And and that sort of thing. Well we'll see. He has said on twitter that he's not messing around and he's taking this very seriously. Some of this of course is also. He's in essentially negotiating in public. He's trying to push put pressure on on the local government to allow him to open up. Yeah I mean it's it's a very public lobbying effort if you can call it that I think the interesting thing is. We'VE SEE BUSINESSES. Do this all the time time right to get tax incentives or or other deals but in this case it's public health interests that are at stake. How HAVE OFFICIALS IN ALAMEDA? County responded to this very open threat And is the pressure that he's putting on them seeming to impact their decisions to reopen at all whether the mayor of Fremont put out a statement saying that she supports Tesla and the Mayor of Palo Alto or the company's headquarters is located. Put out a statement over the weekend about their support for the company. It's a tough position for some of these elected officials They want to see the company. Back Open. They want to see businesses back. Open him yet. Some are also weighing the health ramifications. Several people have died in the county from Kovic Nineteen and they have reported More than two thousand cases of Govan Nineteen and so the concern among county leaders is that they're not sure if there's going to be a spike as they start to re phase in business activity and they'd like to see it play out a little bit longer and be prepared and the idea of ten thousand people coming into a facility is concerning and so they have been working with the company to make sure that the safety protocols in place and the Tesla has Publicized some of these. Things are what they're working on. And that's where the standoff here is. It's not when we're unique to test so there are lots of places and companies around the country who are frustrated and want to get back to the way things were and we've seen state by state by state Different ways of handling this. But there's probably no higher profile company in the US The take this kind of stand to to sue the local authorities and to Defy a local shutdown order. Well we wouldn't expect anything else from Elon. Musk I guess. Our reporter Tim Higgins. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you

"Twenty. Twenty one is shaping up to be a year of seismic chain NASCAR. We have been promised a brand new all encompassing schedule. There's some rule changes coming down. We're going to touch on one of those right now. I'm Doug Rice along with Alexis Ericsson and Kyle Petty and Alexis. Nascar made it official earlier today. That in two thousand twenty one with I've lost track of what Jin Card is. Gen set and I think you know what I'm waiting for the GIN and tonic yet. Maybe you're talking but anyway up. Huge rule change involving lug nuts. Yes so instead of five. Which is what we're used to going to one standard Lug nut right there in the center From everything that I've been able to see on social media after Nascar made this announcement. They basically are trying to get the wheel to look a lot. More like what you would see on a passenger car. You know the gen seven car. They've talked about So much of it is going to look like what you can buy on the lot at your local Chevy Toyota Ford dealership. And that's what they're kind of going with here on our facebook live you can obviously see You know what the the tire looks like. The wheel looks like next to the one that we are running today. I don't really see how it's going to change much. In the way of how pitstops are performed and the timing and all that because you still have to wait on the fuel you're still going to need four tire. Changers to tire changers carriers. You know what do you think? Well I was just looking at it says It doesn't really change anything. His pit crew crews still move from right to left through members over the wall or remain the same. I mean I'll all that stuff stays the same. I find that fascinating that in two thousand twenty one. We're going to make the cars look like. Oh like stock cars. Oh my God what a novel idea. Yeah that they did in the sixties and the seventies and eighties nineties. Oh my God now. We're going back and and this is I'm not I'm not a huge fan of the US does not Because I it's it's just. You're not sure what the point is. I don't and I do understand with independent rear suspensions in some of the things that are going to that this is a step in right direction But you know in in a in a an age where I grew up in an age where innovation and change and stuff come from inside the garage and now it comes from a building somewhere to the garage and they tell those guys what to do. And that's where the so whether it's one lug wheels and stuff like this isn't it and listen. I. I'm not an I realized things change But it's just it's it's everything's the same everything everything just appears to be this. I mean this. This is what they do in every former race in world. So there's nothing wrong with it. You know from Formula One indycar sports cars. There's nothing wrong with that but to use the thing that Oh we're making the wheel. Look like the wheels on a car I got you. Why didn't you just make a five lug pattern? That looks like a wheel on a car. Wheel press out. There is a foreleg pattern. It's not a single love. I don't see a lot of cars out here on the on the highway with the single a lot by look good doing it though you get way down and see one thing that I can see this changing. Obviously we talked about how it's not GonNa Change. You know the choreography of a pit. Stop and how long a pit stop is. Perhaps we'll have less after the fact penalties of okay. Well this car had one. Lewis is going to be catastrophic. You're right you're pretty much gonNA now. You'RE GONNA lose your and you know and and that that obviously will be A. You're not going to be a question if you have a vibration you have some you know where it's at. I. It's not well maybe I got you know. Maybe they left one loose. Maybe they'll left to lose it. It's not going to be that way but So I don but again you don't want applaud that at least they're changing stuff that at least a day in time when they could just be sitting on their ruins doing nothing. They are changing. I believe this is going to be a tough sell. Yeah because it's a radical change. It me no more yarn. It's a it's a it's a but but as long as the players continue to look like they're doing the same thing to the gas at across in the grandstands were guys sitting at home. You know as long as the guys out there you know and we're running around the car. You Know Indy cars you come in. And the guy's already down on his knees when the car stops and it's that you know I'm not A. I'm not a huge fan of that. I WanNa see these guys bust around there. I want to see him do their stuff I WanNa see that ballet. You know what I mean. That's part of it. I mean you look at what happened yesterday. At Auto Club with Martin Checks Junior. I mean he was having really good and then they had a problem on you know the left tire the tire changer. It was hit. He had issue with his hand or something. I don't even know what the follow grant cramped up. Yeah but I mean you think about how intrical that was to the outcome in the finish of Marci X. Junior and the number nineteen day. I mean I think that's still going to come and play. I don't know by the way this show is seen and heard on multiple platforms toward on our affiliate stations on Monday nights. Starting seven.

"We have that engine in there we took the original. Gt Forty heads full reported on a little overkill on some of the valve train components. I've got stainless endless steel intake valves incan exhaust valves. I've got Harlan. sharps like mini shaft Mount Rockers on it which eliminates the guide plates and so they don't turn that on spend they don't Less friction no guide plates. It's it's good. It's kind of bad ass. We've got a great comp cams blower cabinet. We've got the pro charger Roger The d one. SC which I like it self contained. You know we're making the brackets and stuff for that we could. We can turn up the wake on this thing thing and go big horse power. I just don't know the engines really going to handle that much but I think we could get somewhere in the in the and the six hundred mark and the high fives. It's easy to do with this engine combination the Super Charter But you know we're GONNA run it on ninety one octane economy. KIND OF A A streetcar for it. You know if I was getting five fifty or so at the engine I think that would be that would be fine for me and I think the thing would would scoot around really quickly I don't I don't know what that it comes out to be something like I don't know four seventy five four sixty somewhere in that four four fifty to five hundred range at the tires would be would be bad ass on that car so But with the Ford lightning were using a dart block. We're using a four bolt art block and it's GonNa be all aluminum. We're GONNA cut some weight off that thing. So it's it's it's obviously a big pricey block and it is costing me some money for sure but I'm using all aluminum dart four twenty seven small block. Ford it's their three fifty one base engine. It's punched out four twenty-seven they are making the short block for me. I'll bring it back here and assemble build the rest of the engine myself like we did on the On the Cobra. Our Buddy David Josko. That was in a few weeks ago on the show. WHO's working on my m three for me? I'll probably track him back in here to build the engine with me. He did the Mustang Cobra. Anchin with me and we'd Donald in You know degree Cam did the whole thing. So we'll probably ah work on that one as well which which would be cool so all aluminum and then darts to twenty-five CC? Heads the biggest Ford head they have. We'll go on there. We're going to do a custom ground blower cam from comp cams. I forgot the specs on. I don't have it in front of me but it's something like I want to say to twenty something to thirty five something lift. Maybe a two thirty five lift and I'm sorry to duration lifts probably like six. Oh four six eleven somewhere. I know being taken the exhaust left or or or over six hundred. It is staggered. It's going to be a one fourteen lobes SAP Complex that Takata. You know four degrees advance in it so it's one fourteen fourteen plus four just based off memory here and I WANNA do a shaft Mount rocker system on it I I don't we're GONNA go as much. RPM where you'd really require the shaft Mount System. But I like it. I like the stability. I like the durability of it I like this you know we don't need the guy. I played guide plates and stuff. So that's going to be kind of bad ass But Anyway the point of this is I've been talking to some of the Super Charter companies. And and I KINDA WANNA do one of the bigger ray superchargers one of the ones who don't normally see On on on this street The the lightning has to fuel tanks. One kind of behind the driver lengthwise and one in the back it holds something like I don't know thirty four thirty six maybe thirty seven gallons total. It's like fifteen something in a seventeen or eighteen gallon gallon tank so we have a few options. Here I can fill up both tanks. Were just are shitting ninety one octane gas and just kind of run it on on unload boost or pull some of the timing or whatever just get it running as good as it can on ninety one octane or I I can optionally. We use one of the tanks for eighty five or or high octane. There's not a lot of the eighty five here in la and but you know of course over here at at Corollas garage racing shop and we get a lot of EPA fuel a delivered for the race car. So I I can. I can order up some vp racing seeing fuel or something like that and run one tank. One hundred are octane. One ninety one octane and I can switch it on the dash and then you know with with Holly Efi and and the fuel systems. That I was talking to a motive about we can run to a pumps Each tank has its own Pomp and each tank can have a dual pump system and we could probably program it to do us one pump in the tank and then up to a certain boost level. It kicks on the second pomp You know to supply the into in that way and then the second tank and do the same thing it can mimic the first or we can set it up for different pressures with the eighty five or however we want to do it so we have a few options on it But I like the pro charger F.. One A. and I liked the vortex the thirty already and they're they're both different step up gear ratios and different. CFM and different efficiency levels levels. And and they're they're Kinda bad ass. I like them both. I don't know if any of you guys have used either one of those. If so you let me know. Tell me your thoughts on on vortex versus pro charger. I I'm using them both. I have a pro charter. Which is on the Mustang Cobra which I like it a lot. I haven't except you know we haven't run it But a lot of good things about it and its build quality everything on that as good the the the BMW M. Three we blew one superchargers. But that wasn't a vortex kit. was there a supercharged. But it wasn't one of their kids and if you guys remember back to that story The oiling system was insufficient I believe the oiling system should be on on top of the super charger. So kinda sprays missed that oil it Gravity feeds down at the bottom. Well these guys had the The MR at the bottom of the super charter trying to blow up onto the garrison. I don't think it works quite as well. So I think it was an oiling issue that that caused the bearings to heat up and and and break so we fixed that on the BMW and we upgraded to the new vortex Ti superchargers. superchargers seems to be working fine. But what are your thoughts or tech versus pro charger. I love to hear your stories about that You know L.. Let me know what you think. Of course you guys up on social media but but interesting stuff going on and I definitely like those both of those big race superchargers. "Else here I am. I think it's a bigger trend that we see when we look at museums like this and the many fantastic Aston auto museums throughout the US in the world. The large it's the we can conduct our own kind of forensic analysis of these trends. They came and went. I don't know why but walking around or we saw the old school twenties thirties. Era Cars like the the Packard twelve where they the packer told the so called. Roosevelt car sherline. Great One of your favorites. Anyway it's true it's true But one of the things hippie about it. This is walking around thinking man. These cars were so expensive at the time that the assumption was. If you could afford one you could afford to pay somebody else to drive you around in it. And that's why the cabins were divided. Because nobody nobody was buying one of the very few people. were buying one of these and saying like foof me. My daily driver helped me get a work more quickly quickly. They're like buying it. For Parades. Processions daily drivers. Actually a person had a name was to be a Cadillac Erin. A hacker twelve. Yeah that's right you can. I just make one clean here is that I I also was looking into. I want to get back to the museum in a a minute but the location of this place is perfect right. I mean. Of course it's near the port where they ship to their product from. We find that you know. The port of Nagoya is a it's an old. Port accorded infected predates Toyota. It goes back to nineteen o seven when they opened this porn. It's enormous. It's a huge place and I tried to do something here that I thought was clever at first and then I I saw a couple of my ears along the way and I it kind of fell apart at some point. But I'll tell you what I did. I tried to look at the area in the in the city of Nagoya And the poor actually the port of Nagoya with the water combined y looked at it with water combined but I did and the square the square meters square uh-huh miles and all that right so the water area of the port is something like and I'll I'll do this both ways. I guess but a to just over eighty two million square meters which is about thirty one. Point eight square miles of just water in the port. So that's a big portray A to. This place has twenty-one peers in two hundred ninety births that means they can have as many as nearly three hundred ships in the yard at one time and it's not just Toyota. There was a lot of things that come in and out of of course they do something like two to point one million containers every year. Go in and out of that place. That's how many are shipped in and out of that port every single year and those are containers. That are the size of the backs of Semis. You know when you see the the car Containers on the back Semis. That's what we're talking about. So when we see them stacked on the back of the the ships you know they're loaded up with the material that's what's in the this cars it's It was not only automobiles. But it's you know other products that they're they're shipping out as well thirty two thousand four hundred vessels every year. Go in and out of there that so many arrive in the fort every single year and that was a two thousand nine numbers. That's ten years old that number that I found so you know that the shipping is probably gone up now the the land area that I've neglected to tell you up into Louis which I forgot is Is About sixteen point three square miles so if you combine the two. It's right around forty eight square miles trying to think okay. Well how big is that really forty eight square miles because it's a massive area is somewhere around the size of if you were to take a- all of Boston Massachusetts that's roughly forty eight square miles. Wow you were to take all of pure Illinois or Salem Oregon or I think Fargo North North Dakota. Those areas are all about forty eight square miles or forty eight forty nine somewhere around there. So that's the size of the port area that we're talking about this just one little area here but that's all shipping shipping and a lot again. Most of Toyota's product comes out of there from the from the Asian production facilities that they they put these cars together and of course we know we have. They have plants all over the world. But that's where most of their product originally. Yeah so it's a it's a huge huge place and as you can imagine most the people in the cities in and around Nagoya are employed by either the shipping industry. You know the You know the pier. I guess the operations at the Pierre. The you know somehow related related to that port or automotive suppliers or automotive manufacturers. Because there's many big factories that have strategically located themselves right in that area as well not just Toyota but other automotive manufacturers be there Or they have an organ deplace their spark plug makers component creators. Even the Railcar Rolling Stock Manufacturers should kansan manufacturers. Are there sure yeah and he said that twice. Now that's high-speed trains right. Yes Sir yeah. Bullet bullet trains. We call them The are in saying you know what I mean. They put our little train Train network here in Atlanta to to shame what you know what your top speed was just just off hand. Roughly the one I was on I.

"They think would surprise anybody who especially who enjoys older vehicles like they have a Stutz. Yeah I mentioned that earlier because on this stands out to me Stutz bearcat. I always find that as a are because 'cause I think Mr Burns on the simpsons onto stutz remember being an episode early early on like the the lazy chief police wake up right He's kind of kick back in his car eating. Probably don't if I had to guess sure and Burns's making his escape in he's in a A stuffed bear right and they reported as a Red Stutz bearcat. I think I'm GonNa mix this up like a Red Stutz bearcat in nineteen fourteen or whatever and the the the police chief sees it goes by. He says it's more of a burgundy than just our hilarious to me. I mean it's it's funny because you know it's such an unusual vehicle and of course Mr Burns some character like that would own a vehicle like that but you know these cars these kind of one off specials that you see when you walk around the corner you know. Don't expect that to me is what really turns me on about certain museums versus other museums. Where where You kind of you kind of know what's going to be there You're a little bit surprised. But sometimes man they really catch you off guard. Don't they think that's what happened within in dragged my girlfriend along too because she actually enjoyed it. Yeah which surprised me a little because I think she thought maybe it was just going to be all. Toyota's probably more of an emphasis on the eighties or something you know like Oh great museum dedicated to the Prius they finally do you know what they're probably was a prius there right. I'm sure they've got their current product line. There you know a lot of them. Anyway maybe honest with you guys This may be an a function of attention span may be a function of just like worrying about time spent wisely but when I go to museums like this especially any any museum that focuses on the history of something that's fascinating. I ended up taking forever in the beginning and then get kind of inundated with information so by the time by the time I have made needed to Let's see the eighties by the time to the nineteen eighties. I started thinking thinking. I've seen Toyota Corolla GONNA want to walk through that point right I walking yet. I'm stopping for stopping for vehicles else. Because there was some vehicles that I had not seen up close like the universe roadster. I not seen one of those up close and that that was weird to me because it's a Mazda Miata. Yeah it's a Mazda MIATA. Sure but being called the Eunice roadster made it new facet. It's an intriguing. Yeah because in the early auto history of Japan their first vehicles they were making. We're licensed rather than completely domestically created and Toyota led the charge on creating vehicles in Japan for the Japanese market from Japanese parts. Okay I mean yeah so so for them to take. That step is impressive. You've but it also means you know there's something that we've talked about and passed. It also means there are a lot of things are sold under. Different names is Yeah which is always always fascinated me and still fascinates me today. You know what I'm GonNa be honest still confuses me today because there are you're I'm sure everybody listing. We have a couple of different examples of stuff that we just thought of. You know in sold in Europe as one name or in Australia's one name and sold the US for some reason as another name. I don't know the logic behind that or even very similar cars that are sold here under different brands. Like you know the Subaru car the B. R. Z.. And the What was the other one that I'm Gonna I'm GonNa Forget it now? the The toy it's a Toyota belief the freight yeah. I was just thinking of an example. That that You know is pretty easy for everyone to pick out on. The roads today. Subaru cells B. R. Z.. Car and there's a Science Diane or at least it was a scientist Toyota. I think But it's the it's the exact same vehicle you know the And I think it's the eighty six Kurds we said it was the it's now called the eighty six But yeah it's a different car. Companies essentially the same vehicle. Different badging a few different options. You know engines things like that are available but it's it's just an interesting thing that you know that they do that they share these platforms and It's always kind of strange. You know what one thing curt I'm gonNA. I'm GonNa put you on the spot here or discuss second and you don't mind here. We go so we have. You haven't really heard of any my car museums that you've gone to the you really like or dislike or You big car museum frequenter frequenter. Do you go there and check things out or not necessarily sally. Yeah that's true. That's true for various reasons. I went to the Corvette Museum a long time ago. Yeah up in Bowling Green Kentucky. Yeah I said I think I said frequenter. That's terrible that's making my own. Words are are you. There often is what I meant and I guess not but So you were there At the Corvette Museum precinct. Whole I guess? Oh Yeah. Yeah back in the nineties. Yeah you're right. After I was built. You narrowly missed being swallowed up by the earth. Yeah brewing beneath who did with no right right but That's one place that I have never stopped. I've even have even.

"Another one of your host Kurt Garin. I'm Ben Bullet also here for some reason. How are you guys doing good? It's going great. Hey you know what. We've said many many discussions on the show in the past about museums that you know one or both of us have traveled to or just museums in general elections. And all that rain and we've got our favorites and we've we've talked about some good some bad self esteem. They didn't make it to that micro-car museum close. Yeah let's let's A missed opportunity to hear about that here in Georgia. Yeah it was in Allah cash. What town was Addison? Yeah you're right. Mad Madison Georgia. It was Bruce Bruce Wieners micro-car Museum and the collection was unbelievable. It was just remarkable. He could still catch it online. The whole collection is preserved an and online forum. And you look at every car respect. You know little detail about each vehicle and everything but to see it. In person was was pretty impressive. I was there on the last weekend. They're open maybe even the last days before they held the auction pretty impressive as as a cool thing but we've seen so many museums co Armagh museums motorcycle museums. Whatever the racy museums? But when you mentioned that you travel to very recently I was more than impressed one by the location. Of course I mean. It's something that we need to investigate a little bit further questions questions about just where you were and why and all that okay But also the museum itself. I've been kind of Pocono Alison photos of this museum. And we're GONNA talk about and it looks beautiful. Question looks amazing. The building looks amazing. You know the facilities look really interesting. I've got a ton of questions. I know. Kurt Scott some questions agents as well that he wants to hit you up with so first question is worth it. Well maybe a statement Woohoo. We're talking about a museum That is in Japan. It's it's the Toyota Automobile Museum right. Yes that's right Scott earlier. This year I went to Japan for the first time my Girlfriend Brandy and I went there and a lot of people when they go to Japan they fly into the Tokyo airport. Tokyo Joe is of course the most populous city Japan ethnic. It's unfair to even call it a city. It's like twenty three different cities awards all smashed together not airports very very crowded so we were able to fly instead of to Tokyo. We flew to a town called Nagoya. which might not be as has familiar to a lot of people? It's a smaller area. It's more industrial. It is also famously a Toyota town. How and we had planned to land in Japan at the Nagoya Airport and spend a few days Nagoya And then sort of ease our way into Tokyo via the Shinkansen which have finally road very cool. Yeah which we've talked about for years man and while we we're in Nagoya which has a ton of history a learned of the going toward their. I learned of the Automotive Museum. And you know how it is when you travel with your significant other. It's it's a negotiation very much of the mind that most relationships chips are kind of like the Cold War. You know I mean sure and So so we had our list of things that you know we're like bins ends definite must do it's you know trade off and we figure out We just prioritize the stuff that we individually wanted to do and what we wanted to like. Go and my priority wordy My number one priority was to check out this museum and I didn't know I was getting into. I didn't really want to spoil it because because it was a little bit of a gamble you know what I mean is a little bit out of the way for us and I definitely. We did not want to have to spend the rest of the trip thinking that I was the one who took us to a stinker museum. Yeah I could see that happening where it eats up most is your day right and then you blame like well. How often are we going to be in Japan? Oh God our worst you get the list of things we could have been doing a situation and so I wanted to avoid that but when I got there I was amazed. It's lake nine bucks a person first off and it has hundreds of cars like over one hundred sixty. And they're not all. They're not all toyotas that. That's the most astonishing thing they are from all these different eras. There's a replica of steam Steam driven car and they're really really more so interested trysted in instead of studying the rise of Toyota. Don't get me wrong. Guys is a very Toyota Heavy Museum. Sure They are studying being the rise of the automobile in general and the rise of the automobile in Japan the exhibits. Can you guys have had a chance to look at. These are much much older. I mean this is a billion with history. This is building was some truly priceless automobiles in there. Are you know I got a little bit confused when I was looking at this up so I hope I'm looking at the right one here Ben because I know there's a commemorative museum yeah There's also in the same area Toyota. It's got the Toyotas label on it. However however that one is more skewed to focus on the industrial revolution and the idea of the power loom? And I think there's some you know old machinery in that building. It's the old factory Vaccari where they would produce textiles thing and they've got a small car collection in that building but it's nothing like the collection that you saw right. Yeah the Toyota Auto Auto Museum And again I still can't believe it's like nine bucks a pop. They're not paying me. Just say that it's just it's crazy super steep and through expensive and it's it's it's dedicated entirely to the automobile. You know they have even have. Maybe it's not so much. The automobile definitely heavier on that. I do remember there was a rickshaw one of the exhibits To me it almost seems without having been there but seeing the list of cars Sir can you can look at the exhibits online. You can go to their website and signed that. Yeah it looks like they're maybe maybe read this somewhere but it seems like they're focused. On like the style of the cars cars and the advancements that have been made along the way and like kind of like these milestones to say. Hey look what we were doing in the early nineteen hundreds. And here's what we did between nineteen twenty and nineteen thirty and and not and not just we Toyota. But we could so it wasn't around until what nineteen thirty seven I believe as the very first You know the founding of Toyota but the Erez before that and after that they're focusing on a automotive as you said automotive industry as a whole and the advancements that have been made aided to how we got from where we started to where we are now and I find that pretty fast into to build a collection in that way you know these significant makes and models for some the reason you know style or technology also shout out to our old Toyota episode where we explore the origin story of the company Yeah the way that the cars are displayed when their position next. Toyotas are even in the same building. As Toyota's it kind of tells you the story of why Toyota designed designed certain cars a certain way when you see cars from America like say from the late fifties like a big cadillac. See a European compact it car and then you see the Toyota the same time period. All the other cars are there to kind of tell Toyota's story in a way Yeah Yeah there's definitely an IMF USCIS that but there's also an emphasis on the evolution of automotive manufacturing as we talked about in in some previous. CBS episodes starting your own homegrown. Har- company is one of the most difficult things country can do and that's the reason why a relatively small number of large auto manufacturers dominate the global industry so what Japan does is historic. Doc An impressive. Now if you think back out what shape. The country was in in terms of infrastructure at the close of World War. Two to have come from that got to a place where Japanese vehicles including Toyota are often regarded as some of the most consistent in the on the planet nowadays That that is nothing short of amazing one thing that stood out to me. I thought you guys would appreciate remember. Was texting eighteen texting you. Some of these pictures is that they also have a lot a weird cars weird one offs. You know it's kind of like when you go into the museum for another big idea like the coke museum here in Atlanta and you see all this stuff that didn't work. I like that. So what what. Example apple there's this. There's.

Four hundred seventeen turn road course is hybrid at Charlotte Motor speedway last year one by Ryan Blaney when Martin Junior and Jimmy Johnson crashed out on the final Chicane Jeff Hamill let's start with. We've talked a lot about this event. It was there was a huge build up this year a little bit less this year because it is year number two although I still think this merits a great deal of attention. What do you think and who's WHO's your pick to win this all. Hey it ain't broke. Don't fix it. Martin tricks junior three in a row. I think he can pull it off. It's been fourteen races and she won haters if you will but yeah I think looking back at the at the scoreboard from last year. It's really hard to pick statistically because you don't have much data poll from and if you look at the top ten last year. Blaney Jamie mcmurray Clint Boyer Alex Bowman Kurt Busch Bush Chase Elliott Kabua's finished thirty second last year but I feel like for some reason I feel like he's finally going to be like hey guess what look at me. "Want to celebrate with fellow fans or what is share a coke with your best friend whose team has just lost Coca Cola has something for you and the voices you heard on that lap latte from the radio network Mark Jane's Nick Yeoman J. Query and Chris Canary along with our own Pat Patterson myself with the finish their Mark James and Nick Yeoman will join us in less than a month for the rover will broadcast at Charlotte Motor speedway Alexis Ericsson. Sometimes we talk about okay. The turtle wins wins the race today. The hair won the race. He I mean he won by six seconds so yeah he he definitely put open on him. I mean it wasn't a complete. You know he didn't win. Every say are leading every single lap you know he he certainly did in dominating fashion. Oh you know when when the day started and he won the pole. We knew he was going to be strong. We knew he was going to be somebody contend with frankly. We thought you know the fords. We're all going to be tough for the most part that was that was true. you know he fell back a little bit from pit road. Things then came back when he needed to got that spot off of pit road and honestly when you were in the lead it was really hard to to take yourself out so you know passing was at a premium today especially for the leader and as leader he definitely dominated no. I think the situation that you're you're talking about here. Alexis is the fact back that he took a fast race car and he got some good breaks right there. At the end he was coming down pit road caution comes out he's able to complete his pitstop but they have a solid solid pitstop. He gets out in front of the leader so when everything basically cycles through he winds up being the leader of the rice once again because because he saw the last time when I had to restart he took the inside lane and Doug that proved to be the wrong decision because at any other time he'd been on the outside Lane Ryan Blaney got around him and he pretty much pulled away from Kevin Harvick and made it really challenging on him he learned a lesson and whatever adjustments Roddy Children's made on that four-car complimented already fast race car and Kevin showed how fast it could go. We learned a couple of things one Kevin Harvick had a fast race car to King Air. Clean Air is still king. You got out you could drive away didn't care who it was. You could pull away from the field. Kevin Harvick showed that in a big way at the end of this race this race is only one hundred and sixty laps long. He led one hundred eighteen when it was all over our Brian McMillan caught up with him in Victory Lane Kevin Harvick Africa looking at my notes in two thousand and three you one here from the poll that was like sixteen years. That's another lifetime ago. How different is it this time around a lot different? you know we've got these these little guys that make our world go round. Keep me motivated delayed and I both motivated needed so to see how much it means to this little guy differently makes me try harder on racetrack and I kept telling myself at the end of Mike All Right. We gotta get baby girl trophy. Let her get a letter. Get Pictures. She's never had her picture. In victory. Lane brothers had a lot but this is this is really cool. I mean this place means a lot to me personally and and to be able to to see how happy these guys are is is really what keeps me coming back. I I love the emotion that that this team has I know how close we've been here a few times to to win in here. The brickyard and to come back here and win is is pretty special for all these guys and myself how challenging where those last few restarts well. I felt like I was as long as I was side-by-side going into. Turn one I I just I didn't feel like they were GonNa pass me. I felt like my car. I can hold it wide open in the second lane for the first three corners and nobody ever made it to the fourth corner on the inside so you know for us. I just needed to to stay side by side and I wasn't trying to bottom again. That didn't work and luckily things worked our way. How does it feel Indie brickyard? One more time yeah well feels great and to be so far apart is is pretty pretty crazy. I think as I as I as I was riding around on those pace labs I remember taking that victory lap with Richard childress and seeing him drives the pace car brought back a lot of good memories so this place this place means means a lot and there's a lot of Indiana race fans that have supported us for years and you look at those TV and radio ratings these fans love racing here and we love to race in front minimum especially these guys are are you ready to kiss the bricks and he says yes a time to go kiss. The brakes congratulates his Kevin Harvick is second wind here at the brickyard the second time he does it for the poll. That's our bread McMillan in Victory Lane today here at the brickyard four hundred branch you've done hundreds of victory lane interviews over the two years I feel and since that the ones here at Indianapolis or special they are special. you know it's interesting talk to you know we talked to Kyle Busch pre-race freer as we've talked to Kevin Harvick pre race and both of them said these guys were in the playoffs and they know that something important happens next week but yeah Kevin Harvick added some playoff points today and that could help them down the line but this is about winning this race in Indianapolis always special. I mean that's the least talkative I've ever heard Keelan uh-huh but he had a smile on his face and he was grinning from ear to ear Kevin was granted from ear Delano was excited at the lady was also smart enough to stay out of Victory Lane until the until the guys shake in the busch beer asked that stuff of course throwing it on people better than actually drinking but in Clo shots fired. I want to spend money with us. Say Nice stuff about your beer but but they were I mean all of them. Were so excited it when you really think about it when I looked at my notes and I thought sixteen years between wins they decided a lifetime ago for him yeah and how much has changed for him in that time and how much he's grown in that time and for them to be able to celebrate in Victory Lane at this stage of his life. I mean think about how much more he appreciates it now than he absolutely i Wanna I wanna pull all of you. We have Alexis Ericsson Jeff Hammond and of course Brent McMillan up appear. We Love to bandwagon whoever's hot man. That's who's going to win the title well. We're there now we're in playoff territory. It starts with the South Point Four Hundred Las Vegas as it sits right now Alexis who at the end of the year at homestead Miami is going to be up on top of the stage. I'm going Denny Hamlin. I just think it's Denny's year I think he's been so close and yet so far away and this year he just seems to have the momentum and of course Joe Gibbs racing team is is on fire. They've got wins for all four their drivers. I wouldn't be surprised if they have multiple drivers in the final four at home said yes you know he finished six today. He probably didn't have the day that they we're hoping for but he also started in the back need passed a ton of cars all day long to get that sixth-place finish so I personally feel I have a gut feeling that the momentum is on Denny Hamlin side right. Now we'll stay. I'll have to agree with Alexis de there because the fact that these guys have been on a consistent role not only winning but just I mean scoring points and run in the top five and and being able to overcome adversity as good as anybody but I we'll say in recent weeks that four-car starting to turn my head well you can find speed for years. You've been a disciple of his all year long. I felt like they could I really did just knowing the people that are involved with that organization. It could be done they would do it and we're starting to see that I mean 'cause you gotta gotTa realize him. All his wins have come basically in the last couple of months. I mean he has been getting on fire consistency. That team has come together so I would rank. I still like Danny. I feel like maybe it's easier just to Mojo feels right for that but the four car is going to be right there and be pain in his side all right Brett. I'm Magog Kyle Busch. He's still hard not to well. I mean he's still the regular season champion. He was fast today except you know obviously they had an engine engine problem. Oh really I didn't see him every lap. He was twelve race losing streak by the way we have a lot to him it is that's a lot for for him. Though it's not a losing streak it's a non winning streak well for him the way no no no no other way he looks at if I don't win I lost because that's why storms arms often goes up. He didn't storm off today. Though car blew up well he got out of it went to the garage air but then he came back with Brad Galli yeah he did and the thing is I mean. What does he got? He says he's still ended up. The first twenty six races with like twenty nine thousand nine hundred twenty top ten finishes well also he's been there every he's still been there almost every single week and he's also been crowned the regular season champion which gives him a boatload of playoff points that are going to be put in his pocket. You know and we're not supposed to be arguing. Brady and West is his pick yeah even though we don't think it's a good pick all right bye. Go ahead Alexis. I've got to take a minute today. Jeff picked tim up in both by the way are Toyota performance report since they didn't have a great day. I'm not going to go way down into the pack pack. "T o d has a huge involvement in the military so it's going to be neat to go hang out with the indian kevin katcher and just understand that side of it so and also i spent a lot of time with a truck series specifically kbm in tori racing you know they've had a big change in rules this year with the oem engine of of the toyota uses and they have the nt one spec engine that ilmor racing provides for the team so we've really been caught up in the politics of that keep the disparities you know the same because you know we thought a daytona was at a disadvantage and we worked with nascar and come to a resolution get that i'll worked out and you know the n t one engine has been good but we want to run up toyota engines in these toyota trucks and we were pushing hard when a toyota truck wins on sunday on saturday at the truck race we want it to have a oem engine so we're really working hard with nascar ben kennedy and all that group to make sure that the rules are as close as can be when we run the oem engine so understanding the truck series has been fun working with rudy and and cobb bush and all them maccabee motor sports been really amazed at the job akal has done he's built a heck of a facility for those guys to raise the have very beautiful trucks to me it's run just like a cup operation but with a whole lot less funding you know column sure stays after rudy to watch the expenses they have beautiful equipment they have great people and they're not a win races so they do a lot of the great things in and we just try to support them with with whatever we need as far as the crew chiefs i spend time with them going over race strategy understanding of the stages and possible things to look at but when throw the green flag i simply just leave those guys loan let them race but we have a lot of interjection prior to the race during the week we spent a lot of time with them just trying to.

"Faststart presented by toyota and find out more about toyota racing visit toyota racing dot com nice segue into our final segment here talking about the guy that propelled toyota to the monster energy championship last year in martin treu ex junior eight wins kind of a fairytale story it's been told over and over sherri pollock's herve battle with a varying cancer the hurdles that this team overcame in having a sensational season rob albright can they package up some of this ferry dust and carry over into this year until somebody proves that they can't absolutely they can i know they went from one car team last year to provide a place for eric jones to get a first season in the cup series they ran a second team which divided some attention they continued to get better there's no reason they can't but as long as we got a final race of the season were any one of four guys can win will they get back to the final four i i would unload a betting man but i would bet anything i've got that yes they'll make it back to the final four will they win the championship again flip a coin when it gets to homestead but there's no reason that they couldn't i agree i think you know go on to a single car team again all the tension is going to be on the seventy eight i think you know the crew for the most part is intact coal staying there i mean it's it's i think they they have everything they had last year so it would be crazy to think that they can't do it again the way they won races last year's were impressed me they just went out and dominated race after race it was last minute things they just outraged people last question you're on the show who has the most pressure to win going into this year alexis who's who's got to win this year arts it's uh and and really perform well.
