"P. M. So this show is called best week ever. We try to highlight the most positive things. So who won the week? Allah says. We start kind of winding down. Oh, for me. I got to go back to Caleb Dressel and really, just all of the team USA Olympians who meddled this week. Michaela Skinner last night, I believe got a silver medal in her gymnastics routine. So it's been so much fun to watch. I think my favorite remains the swimming relays. So I really enjoyed last night and seeing Team USA four by 100 Continue that gold streak So for me, Team USA Swimming won the week. Um I also can't. I mean, just Katie Ledecky has been fantastic as well. I mean, I think horse dancing, You know, I didn't know dressage was such a big thing in juicy Snoop. Commenting on it, which I heard there is on the peacock app. I'm not even sure where or how that exist at some point, But I saw a viral clip of him talking about the horse Crip walking and having fun. I mean, Again. There should be certain people like that have nothing to do with the sport that has an opportunity to commentate and it should be on. You know how we do like our ESPN. Plus, um, in, you know the mega cast? Yes, like at that point, also the idea that in the in the relays, there should be an extra, lane added. So, where a normal human being like a decent swimmer, swims just so we can tell how good the Olympic athletes are compared to every other normal person. Like, just have like me. You Matt Schick, Myron Medcalf Like we're all running the 100 M dash smoke. Y'all just you probably would win, but just to get a feel for how a normal human being would do. Um, NFL training camp. I think a couple of news and notes on it just weird to see a training camp with the Saints and not have Drew Brees out there right. Like that's weird. Um, I like having Aaron Rodgers back right. I know it was a drama. You can say whether or not it was too much or not enough, Or, uh, no one's going to say it was not enough. Um, but the fact that we get to come to the last dance to one more year where I can say like I almost wish he came out and said, I'm not coming back to the Packers next year like this will be my last run. I'm going to have so much fun with the fans, the fans would enjoy it. There's not this footsie at that point, and, more importantly, Bunch of teams can also start planning on how they want to handle the cap situation on how they want to handle the draft coming up next year, knowing that Aaron Rodgers is going to try to make a Tom Brady type move and go a place where at least his opinion will be, um, really appreciate it a little bit more. So I'm looking forward that storyline. Speaking of Tom Brady, you know what is terrifying to me PB It was reported yesterday or Friday that Tom Brady has ditched that knee sleeve that he always wore since tearing his A C L in 2000 and eight Castle Year. Jeez, yeah, he's done. He was like, I don't need it. It's been 14 years since I've been wearing it. I feel good. How terrifying is that? That 14 years later after winning a Super Bowl with his new team, Tom Brady's like, Yeah, Now I'm taking the knee sleeve off and it's over for you jokers it is over. Do have questions and like at one point, I don't think that's necessarily bad. Because again I think that if you even look at Tom Brady in the wrong direction, or like the wrong angle, they will throw a penalty on you, right like this, the roughing the passer rules over the last couple of years..

"Thing. One last thing, all right, Speaking of quarterbacks. Tom Brady. Still king. He's still the King. Um the NFLPA released its quarterly list of player merch sales this week. And who was number one. That can only be one Tom Brady all licensed products. T shirts, hoodies, backpacked bobblehead all the stuff you're buying the kids, Or maybe you're by yourself. Patrick Mahomes was number two. But here's the kicker from me. That Prescott was number three. And I'm like, Oh, okay. And I like that. That's the cowboy effect. Right? "Because you can't just pretend the last five months didn't happen. So now that Roger's in Green Bay have managed to resolve their differences for now, and our little national nightmare is over for now. You can't try to say nothing to see here. Is still the narrative because no one wants to go to war with the first ballot Hall of Fame quarterback and this isn't even Green based First Rodeo when it comes to that kind of player. Remember red Far when that long ago? This was messy. That was messy. These things drag out they have. We're dragging out and you just don't know what's going To happen. Sure, the sides For now they found enough financial and contractual common ground. To facilitate a temporary arrangement that serves to Offer an exit portal for Aaron Rodgers. So Green Bay bought time They got that much done. But Rogers isn't going to forget the long list of gripes and grievances that are in his mind and in his heart and tucked away that led to the saga in the first place and the real end game here as far as his re vamped contract. Is that it allows the quarterback The opportunity to now to determine Where he ends his career. You see, So Rogers now has the leverage and the hammer, and that underscores the fact that Green Bay needs him to be there. And he wanted to be there. He just wanted it under his terms. And now, after all this, waiting from high school and college and his first few years under Brett Farve and suffering in silence, you now have a situation where He gets to be the man does he have written guarantees that he'll be traded as soon as January? No. But neither side wants to go through this again. I'm pretty sure of that. They think you think long and hard, But let's see how many games the Packers win and how far they go in the playoffs. But the Packers are very clear. What Rogers desires and you know, Rogers is going to relish being one of the most talked about players in the NFL every week and his quote unquote last dance scenario. He's the one that went there with that that's going to that's going to trail him. And then he'll go from his mg moment to his LeBron moment. We all eagerly await. Yeah, Yeah, I just threw up in my mouth thinking about this. Are we going to get to early 22 have another version of quote the decision. Is that how we just do things? Now what Rogers is gonna steer himself to a new team and let us know. And maybe he'll give Jim Gray a call. Or maybe Tom Brady. Or, you know, he'll call his buddy a Rod or Jim Gray and Already, said Jim Gray, That's the Department of Redundancy Department. And you just know that no trade is going to be made without more years on the deal, and Rogers can always play the retirement card if need be, and the Packers aren't going to be able to just force him to play. For the lowly Texans. There's something like that. That's just not how it's going to work. Rogers has leverage now, and he also has the hammer. But Green Bay also still owns his rights. So for Rogers retires, he might not have to pay back the money, but he'll you know he'll go back to trying out for jeopardy. But it does beg the question. Okay, which teams make the most sense for 2022, which franchises could potentially possess what Rogers desires and also be in position. To consummate such a trade, who are the most likely landing spots. They're actually about. 10 teams are not going to go through all 10, but I think there are four that are worth talking about, even though I'm a zero predictions that they end up in any of these cities, the first one, and if you list the Mark Schlereth and a lot of people are respect the last few months. You have thought it was already done. I never believed it. But the Denver Broncos would be the leader in the clubhouse, right? How can it not be first of all, Rogers? He's cool with Colorado. He likes it there. He likes the cut of their jib. They have a legit defense. No arguments there. Have some very interesting pieces on offense. Rogers might be able to help them. It worked for Peyton Manning near the end of his career. And hey, who is boss? Be John Elway. This could be interesting to watch. If it comes to that point. It's not just smoking mirrors. These sides of the off season. It seems like a fit from a lifestyle and a football standpoint, and Denver does not have their quarterback in the future on the roster right now, With all respect to do lock, they know they need a quarterback. How about the New Orleans Saints? But you didn't see that coming, man. Oh, man, Rogers. Well him and Sean Payton would be as that They'd be an interesting partnership. They both have sort of this. Well, Green Base got Jamis Winston. You know how I feel about him? But having Rogers come in for a year after Drew Brees retires with a veteran team and taking them to the promised land, you know, Jazzfest seems like a decent fit, Great offensive line nor leans runs the heck out of the ball. They play a lot of games in great weather in a dome. Same division as Tom Brady. Can't rule out the saints. But we're just kind of yucking it up here on a Sunday morning in August, Okay, not projecting it, but they would be on the list. In my opinion. I mentioned the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier. Big band. He's doing his last dance. Thing in Pittsburgh, and Rogers is doing his and green Bay. But do you really believe Mason? Rudolph er Dwayne Haskins is going to prove to be long term solution in Pittsburgh. Do you believe a franchise? Hasn't finished below 500 since Moby Dick was a minnow is going to do a full scale rebound with a rookie pastor when they might be able to grab a Hall of Famer instead of picking around 20 in the first round next year, and that's no man's land for top flight quarterbacks. Can Pittsburgh afford to keep trading topics in a way? This franchise historically has never done to move up to get a quarterback. Or could Aaron Rodgers be a plug and play with that defense, which is still going to be better than average? And they can reborn. You know, they have a rebuilt run game with Najee Harris. Can you imagine starting playoff games for Pittsburgh and Green Bay? That's quite a nice legacy for Aaron Rodgers. The final one, The Miami Dolphins. Look, I think tour is going to be OK, but clearly the Dolphin The Miami Dolphins have a wandering eye and even after using their first pick two years ago, and one of the more accomplished college quarterbacks, which was to a South Beach in near in Rogers, that would be quite a departure and the ownership is generally failed to woo good players down there of this magnitude. But Steve Ross University of Michigan guy he would try like heck, they've got plenty of money. They got plenty of draft capital, and they could probably flip to it as somebody else to recoup some of that. Investment that they made. But it's fun to speculate. We haven't even started this season yet. So let's not create problems that don't exist yet for the Packers or Rogers and try to solve it, But don't be surprised again if we're revisiting this in January, and one of those four teams Finds its way onto the, uh under the docket. Coming up. I want to talk about the Shawn Watson. He might be unlikely to see the field on the offensive side of the ball this year, but at least he's there and it's making for a very interesting story. We chop it up next. But first you.

"To. I wanted to talk about how Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback of all time going there. That hasn't happened yet. And you've got your radio on in the background. So that's not gonna work. Um, could he become the greatest quarterback of all time? Yeah. How many times we had the conversation leading up to last year's Super Bowl? Uh, Tom Brady had already established himself as the greatest of all time. He just cemented that position with to win. In the Super Bowl, and I'm not putting it on Patrick Mahomes as the reason why they lost the Super Bowl offensive line had major issues. My homes was screaming. For his life the entire game. That's the way we judge quarterbacks is wins and losses, and some people think that's woefully unfair. I get it. It's a 22 man game. 11 starters on offense, 11 star design defense and then all your backups and you're really going to put it all on one guy. It is more than just the quarterback. But the quarterback position decides the outcome of games more than any other individual position in any other sport, And that's why we judge them the way that we judge them. And is it perfect? No. But is it Outrageously unfair. No, it's not because quarterbacks do have a major impact on the outcome of games. Brady was and Brady one last year. So anyone like yourself who is trying to make the argument that Patrick Mahomes is the greatest of all time Before that game was played well, you were blatantly wreaking an inaccurate With that stance before the game, and when Brady walked away with another Lombardi Trophy afterwards, And basically, he said, Why Why would you do that? And say something like that and embarrass yourself? So sorry to say, You're just embarrassing yourself. Here's what we will say. If there is a quarterback who is currently playing in the National Football League that you were going to make an argument could someday catch Tom Brady and maybe sir, Plant Tom Brady and be able to grab the title of goat? Greatest of all times? Well, Jess, probably Patrick Mahomes, Um George activism to Shawn Watson. We don't even know if he's going to make it onto the field. Could it be any of the young guns that came in this year in the National Football League in their draft? That's what we're doing. That's what we're reaching for here. Josh Allen, a Buffalo? Yeah. He's got some pretty good catching up to my homes to do before you could ever have that conversation with him. Yeah. If you're in my homes fan, and you want to back your guy, you're a big chief span of my home fan. More power to you Just don't get nuts. Don't go crazy. Don't say something as foolish as Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback of all time. He's not he can't be. He hasn't been around long enough. He hasn't been able to put up the kind of numbers and get the accomplishments that Tom Brady has. Those are just stats and facts, then you can't really argue. When you make the conversation about could he become now You're talking about projection. Now you're looking down the road. Now you're believing that this can continue to be the case that my home can play on this kind of level for another. 12 to 14 years. If he does that, then he can make some headway in catching up to Tom Brady. But it's going to take awhile. Get back to me here. I still may be doing this show. In 2042, Who knows if I am, then we may be able to have a conversation about whether Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback of all time. That's getting a little ahead of the game. But that's what we do at this stage of the year and I'm very much looking forward to Thursday night is the first football game of the year. The Hall of Fame game. Don't know if Dak Prescott is even going to play. Um, the fact that he's got injury issues already not related to the Injury that he had laid here different injury got his shoulder injury. Um we'll take a little luster out of the game. That was probably the main reason tune into the game would be to see what Patrick Mahomes Excuse me, Patrick Mahomes. Dak Prescott looks like coming back from injury and we might not even get that. But who cares? Are you telling me you're not going to be watching on Thursday? When we get the Hall of Fame game? We actually get the National Football League back. Of course you're going to be Chances. Are you leaving? Wager on it? I'll bet you did. Evander Kane wagers on it. As a matter of fact, I won't go there. That's just not right. All right. The time is running down, so let me Jimmy, give the good folks say Mac Daddy tweeted today. Alright, This one comes from Jim Irwin, who has tweeted me before and I appreciate Kim's sending in this tweet for one reason, and one reason only make me laugh. I enjoyed laughing, so that's a good way to get yourself into Mac Daddy consideration. Going forward Jim is, I guess, one of my New York listeners Jodie Mack during tonight's Mets game, Keith Hernandez, his phone kept ringing. During the live broadcast. You know, I keep I feel for you, buddy. Been there done that. How many times I've had my phone sitting next to me while I'm doing a broadcast and forgot to turn the ringer down. Oh, yeah, Guilty as charged. I guess it happened to Keith tonight. There were questions about who it could be calling Keith Hernandez During the Met game. "My thing is this is that the court of Public opinion, which is usually accounts and Like they, they have rendered an unequivocal, unanimous verdict. And it's that Aaron Rodgers clearly is in the right on this situation and the Green Bay Packers front office have been in the wrong and unlike Ted Thompson, who 13 years ago at this very time Had the contingency plan. He had Brett Farve, successor by the name of Aaron Rodgers. They don't have that now, With all due respect to not only, uh, Jordan love, but Blake Bortles, who was a complete bust with the Jacksonville Jaguars. They don't have that guy to lead the Packers right now. So Aaron Rodgers was right in this situation. Absolutely. Now, if you're Brian, Guten coons, you better do whatever you can to establish a rapport. And I mean, I don't know. Maybe go over to Aaron Rodgers house and bring him baked goods. You better do whatever you can to keep him a happy camper. Because you, you know as well as anybody. Mike. Other than the 2000 Baltimore Ravens in the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, who both won Super Bowls because of their defense, You need a franchise quarterback, and as we saw Last season. Aaron Rodgers can still spin it, and he was the M V P for the third time in his career, he can still go. I think he's got 4 to 5 more potentially great years in this league. You'd like to see him if you're achy said have him play his the rest of his career in Green and gold. But Mike You're in Indianapolis. You weren't there when Peyton Manning was there, correct? All right, And I was on NBA side at the time. Okay. Okay. But I did not cover them. So so, so we have seen That there isn't always that storybook fairytale Hollywood ending for Peyton, meaning to play out his entire career with the Colts for Tom Brady to play out his entire career in New England with the Patriots. And guess what? They're the only two quarterbacks who have switched teams in NFL history and won a Super Bowl and with her second team, so like we all know that Aaron Rodgers if he goes to Denver if he goes to Vegas, where you name a team They're automatically going to be Super Bowl contenders that we're talking in the future. I guess the good news in all this. If you're a Packers fan, you can breathe easy for like until the end of the season and see what happens and know that you have a first ballot and certainly top 10 quarterback of all time with you for one more year. No, I completely agree. But you know they're going to sit and say, Well, he's on the contract of 2022. No, no, no, no, no, no clearly and Rogers gets his way. And if you want out of the end of the season, he'll get his way on that, so enjoy it. Why You have it because the.

"To celebrate Super Bowl title several times in the past, but he hasn't always accepted the offer. But this time Brady is at center stage for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and gets to drop the mic moment with President Biden riding shotgun. President Biden welcome this year's NFL Super Bowl champions. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady took the podium, reflecting back on what it took to pull it off. One point We were 75 struggling a little bit, but we found our rhythm we got on the road. President Biden scored some points of his own with a little humor. We have the oldest coach, everyone the Super Bowl and the oldest quarterback to win the Super Bowl. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong. With being the oldest guy to make it to the mountaintop Andrew Brady style. The goat nailed a perfect come back. Aaron Rodgers 'Still Wants Out,' NFL Insider Says

"NFL reporter. He's all over the place, he says. Rogers. His mindset has not changed. The wants out without a doubt, absolutely, still wants out. They didn't suddenly come out and insults him ago. McVay in Better Mood, Says He's Better Coach With Stafford

"Story will bring back in. Involves these relationships in the nfl between coaching quarterback that we've talked about several times when you have that you know you got something special when the coach and the quarterback are on the same page when they kind of have that unity. You saw what. What tom brady. And bruce arians able to do right away You obviously see what you have in kansas. City greg's andy. Reid patrick mahomes these. These duos are very important. We thought maybe. Sean mcvay jared goff where we're going to be that power couple. They did get to a super bowl but then things broke up pretty quickly there. And sean mcvay is this guy that clearly is the excitable one out of the two right is that goes without saying so mcveigh. There's a there's a known confidence where it when he walks into a room noah's field presence but he's got a great humility about himself at. Everybody loves being around him and he's one of those guys that is it true igniter makes everybody around him better. I feel like i can come up better. Coaching a few months that we've been able to spend together and we're looking forward to get things together. Sounds pretty excited about this new relationship. He's got about stafford and all he can bring in all he's already brought to the franchise what it means to him. Is Mac Jones a Good Fit For the Patriots?

"But at some point in time whenever Mac Jones is ready, he is going to be able to operate the full facilities of the Patriots offense, which Cam Newton was never able to do last year, I don't care what was around him. Mac Jones is one of the most advanced. I didn't get a chance to ask Bill. This question in the press conference. I wanted to But Mac Jones is probably the most advanced college quarterback in terms of pre-snap checks reads, all this stuff. All the mental song that goes on at the line of scrimmage I have not seen or heard of a quarterback as advanced at Mac Jones in terms of what his level of experience is. And I think that it's just citing to me. It's probably exciting to Josh McDaniels. It's probably exciting to the Patriots that eventually at some point in time. Mac Jones is going to be able to do a lot of the stuff at the line Shack on. Brady could do. I'm not saying everything. I'm not saying that he is Tom Brady, but just to be able to say, all right, we see this defense, we're going to check out of this, this guy is Advanced Beyond almost all college quarterbacks you. You talk to people around the Alabama program, and they talk about how smart he is. They talk about how he's been teaching the Alabama offense, to Bill, O'Brien wage, Down there, so right? Just in terms of all that, that's a great basis and it's something that the Patriots lacked, whether it was Cam Newton or Jerry students. Did them coming from the Baylor offense home and the Auburn offense, Mac Jones can do everything that the Patriots need to have done at the line of scrimmage and that is a huge key component in this offense and they got a guy who can do that.

Due to an injury last year. We make in my official announcement of my retirement from football. Do Green Bay Packers need to recommit to Aaron Rodgers?

"Now. Some people are speculating. Maybe about this year but aaron rodgers is just being stubborn and he wants to make some more money and you might say well. Wait a minute. Rj hasn't tom brady tatis all than taking less money. Helps you win. yeah. I think so. But there's another way for the packers to gain spending power. No tom brady. Didn't care about. Robert kraft keeping the money instead of him. Not at all when he cared about was the salary cap. There's a finite amount of money you can spend and yeah you can kick the can down the road the saints showing you that but it eventually comes. Do look at big band this year and what he was due and thus the salary cap is the constraining variable. It's the thing that constrains the limiting factor. So aaron rodgers could have and the packers could have renegotiate his contract and then made it where the money that went against the cap this year got deferred some of it. But you don't get to do that for free. What happens is it takes a further commitment down the road. So you can pay aaron rodgers for two more years or three more years and if you do three you can pay them less this year at least salary cap wise. So what's the tradeoff. Want more commitment better now.

Will Aaron Rodgers finish his career in Green Bay?

"Good morning. Thanks for joining us. Get right to it when it comes to aaron rodgers and that whole story. So is it likely that aaron rodgers finishes his career in green bay. Or how likely is it. I would say more likely than not. He won't again. You just look at it and look how these quarterback situations have played out. Did peyton manning finish indianapolis. No tom brady finish in new england. No did the green bay packers draft a quarterback in the first round last year. Not only do they draft quarterback in the first round last year but they traded up to draft a quarterback in the first round last year and orlando roger didn't response. That was go out and win the mvp this year but again there are issues between the two sides and you heard him address it after they lost to tampa in the playoffs. And you heard address it with kenny. Mayne on sportscenter over the weekend. He certainly didn't sound like a guy who was committed to finishing his career. Green bay and. I don't think that it is all decision. You know you've one more super bowls than anyone you've been there more times you've won more games you just. Stop. please. Oh, I got a whole list I wrote down if you want to hear. Your with your wikipedia pages way too long they need to get somebody to I. Mean it was thirty five pages long. Exit out. But yeah, four Super Bowl MVP's if your goal is only to have been as good as Joe Montana's someone else then we wouldn't have learned the limits of what someone could be. You know if you're war seems to have been with yourself, which I think is the best where you can have as long as you're better than the guy from last year, you're on the right path. So yeah, you don't even know what's possible and I didn't learn these things over time because you don't. Have a lot of these thoughts. You know when you're twenty or twenty, five or thirty but you know you have kids and you start thinking more, you have a little more perspective and your little wiser and you've told a lot of stories over the years and you what's really going to stick and I said my kids I said it's is it most important to do your best or is it more important to do the best what's going to be more fulfilling for you and your life to? Do the best. That's an interesting question we're. So we're so conditioned to do the best to do the best, and the reality is is doing your best and not being attached to the best is going to allow you to you know have probably more whatever it could be emotional stability or you know you become attached to being better than your brother or being better than this other person. It's there's inherent letdowns on all those things which maybe they're okay because you're going to help you grow and toughen up a little bit too. But you're built in limits. It's a finite goal. If the goal is to be as good as someone else marginally better than that's it's finite as opposed to if I'm bettering myself who knows where this goes yeah. We focused on achieving a little more each day you know and again it's This I..

"Very is sufficient. You GotTa Studio I. Just have like a my own whether it's working or not. There is nothing more fun than watching people like you or Bill Gates try to operate their computer. It's one of the funnest parts of this job. Where you guys at we are in an addict that's above a garage Jetta. Building that I don't think we'll ever be done I think we're year three of it. So it's really just a very expensive garage at this point. So typical. Typical construction process. And it doesn't matter how many times you go through it. You still are shocked with how long in how much it goes over budget each time I know over budget the duration we had a house in Boston I sorta got it cost twice is. One hundred percent over budget. One hundred. Off. That seems to be the standard number I I. I came out of football season and they showed me the budget and I was like what the fuck is this. Pretty rough did you have real jobs as a kid like were you forced to do some manual? I had a couple of really great jobs. My first I was actually talking about this. My I was a paper route. Did you ever have paper out? I did not I did not I was Michigan's shovel driveways that was kind of the equivalent that's a good job. Manual Labor in elementary school and then sort of highschool paper out and I made I think twenty five bucks a month and I was actually talking with one of my coaches yesterday because we were talking about jobs and I think it was my job and my mom's job too because she would drive me around and I would draw the papers out of the side of the car may help me a little bit. Maybe, career training, but it ended up being. Pretty Yeah Yeah work on that arm. So my big barriers were yet my mom was single mom raising three kids and full-time jobs..

"I'm not looking at the all twenty two so I can't testify to how good the bucks supporting cast and offensive line. All work together but I suspect that there probably are some holes there that make them a little bit vulnerable James Winston last year even though he did throw You know in addition to thirty interceptions through I think the the highest perceptible rate in many years of in terms of passing so He clearly was a problem there. But I don't think it was all that like the Buxton were able to move the ball with James Winston but. I'm not sure that we sell these. Got All these weapons all. Nfl teams have weapons. Somebody almost one every team that is Mike Evans Lake or something like that. We'll see how successful he is. But I mean we know what the history of the NFL is. We're old enough to know that generally doesn't end well for the old quarterback the changes teams. You know what I mean like or the old superstar that changes teams late net career. Guys get old. The Patriots saw that and it should make other everybody else think. Well what does Bill Belichick? If Bill Belichick is genius that we think he is then people should be thinking. Why WOULD BILL Belichick? Tom Brady go like why? Why would he let him go at this age? Why would you let him retire with them and to me? That says something about what they think about. Tom Brady at this point in his career. Maybe it's something that other. Nfl teams are aware of and we'll probably see play out. If the season comes to be. Yeah I think that's exactly right so I think that's the way to view the story. It's one part football and one parts soap opera craft through Bella. Check under the bus at the end of this bell. Check through Brady off the team and Brady went out with a flame thrower behind him. Talking about how unhappy he's been for years. And that's all separate from whether Tom Brady is a good quarterback anymore. Let's under there. Let's also just pause on the fact that this was a conversation. You can't get more sports than this. Congratulations to ask Yeah Greg. Nfl thanks the following message is brought to you by Samuel Adams. There's not enough positively being.

"And the straight talk to me is really about the Patriots. Look we've been anticipating at least the potential that Tom Brady could be walking away from the Patriots. Since the Fall Adam Schefter has been yelling about it as loud as anyone could here and now he's right. The question is if Adam can anticipate it. Weakened anticipate we've been talking about for about it for months after patriots not been thinking about this. Why do they not have a better plan? Jared stadium is right now on the roster and expected by some to get the opportunity if you watch a lot of college football you know the name jared. He was supposed to be the next great thing and Auburn. It looked like he was going to make Auburn a different team. He was going to take them to a different level. And then it just didn't happen if you go back and you look at the tape for stem there were moments and it was great and there were moments. That was head-scratching now. We don't know what it's been now that he's been under the Patriots Tutelage for a year. But we know this. The Patriots don't have a set option. I mean think about it yesterday. Is The news started to break the? Cam. Newton is going to be traded. How many people were trying to put cam onto the Patriots roster all that made me think we left the show yesterday as I understand it. I said yesterday you're allowed to have ego on. Both sides Egos not a bad word. Some people say Egos a bad word. I if you've accomplished as much as Tom Brady. And Bill Belichick have you're allowed to have some level of ego. I've no problem with that so I have no problem in my mind with yesterday saying Brady walked into Belichick and said I wanna do things this way. This is what I WANNA do to say. I have no problem with checks and cool. I respect that. But that's not the way I'm going to do things so you know if you WanNa stay with New England. You have to do it my way. I have no problem with all of that because they both accomplish so much. What's confusing to me? The farther I walk away from that is how bill not have a better option. Jimmy Garoppolo was supposed to be that option at one point here and we can have the debate all day long on whether or not trading Jimmy G. was the right thing to do but there's no debate over the fact Jimmy. He's been gone for a long time. So how do the Patriots not have their minds on? What's next? We really believe in a world understand because of cove nineteen into corona virus. There is the opportunity at least the chance right now. The OTAS won't be happening. We talked about part of the reason that teddy bridgewater made sense to be reunited with Joe Brady his former passing offense coordinator with New Orleans. He now is reunited with Joe Brady in Carolina. That makes sense because he knows that offense right. Who knows Josh mcdaniels offense I mean trading? Andy Dalton is fine but how is he GONNA learn system? How's it going to get the reps? How's he going to become the starting quarterback and how on God's Green Earth as my gulag always says how on God's Green Earth did the Patriots not anticipate that? That's the part. I can't wrap my head around if we believe that. Andy Dalton should be the next quarterback or if you believe the Jameis Winston is going to go up and be a reclamation project that bell checking. Get right if you believe that. There's a mid level quarterback that's GONNA find their way to New England. Fine but how do they not have their mind to wrap wrapped around that to begin with then you also have to look around and suddenly ask yourself our team's going to be willing to help the Patriots I mean for anyone that says they'll just trade for somebody remember? A trade takes two partners to partners equally devoted to making a train happen. Now that means the trade has to be beneficial both ways. If you're a team with the starting quarterback that the Patriots are interested. I don't know but is there some level of hesitation? Do you not want to trade to breathe the air to Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Because you're concerned rightfully so that that quarterbacks thing going to be hugely successful if you're the bengals keep using Andy Dalton. Because we know he's out there he's out there on the market if you're the bengals and you have. Andy Dalton under contract. Do you really want to send him to? New England while you draft Joe Borough and suddenly watched the possibility that Andy Dalton United Bill belichick becomes. This dynamic duo. That wins a bunch of games. I'm not sure it's stunning to me today. Not just that. Tom Brady. Isn't the quarterback for the Patriots? That's not as stunning. Because frankly if you listen to our analyst for the last several months you might it seen it coming. What's stunning to me is it. The Patriots don't seem to have a clear cut answer on what's next. Nfl analyst. Marcus Spears joins us now on the Shell Pennzoil performance line. Marcus what do you think would be next for the Patriots? You're different fits See where he goes bad. See if he can I guess carried is ship and become a good player room. Everybody needs to remember Tom. Brady wasn't late round pick. They didn't know what they had and Tom Brady. So before we cancel out the fact that just did a may be a very capable quarterback I had a chance to watch him at Auburn. He's really good Now obviously want to see that translates to the next level but before we out on the kid before we start predicting all of these commodities guys that are That have been in the league and have had some some level of success. I think we need to stay patient. I think that's what they're gonNA do. Obviously bring a Petrie in case it doesn't work out but I believe the Patriots are gonNA give them every possibility. Um to be their starting quarterback he's been in that system He understands the Patriot way. They liked him out of college. They drafted him so now. He's up and see where he can go from here. Well you mentioned it Marcus. You've seen a lot of them. We're talking to football. Marcus Spears on the Shell Pennzoil performance line. I figure take Jason Fitz. You've seen a lot of jeered cinnamon college and there was this moment at Auburn. Where there was this expectation that he was gonNA take the Auburn program the next level and it just didn't happen so we're did things in his at the end of his college career. Where did things sort of go wrong for them? Well he didn't first of all terrible system for his first skills that And I know everybody's talking about How good he was he did. He did win. The Iron Bowl had a great game. against Alabama but more importantly managers system. That's not the type of guy that thrives In that office he has some Great Day. He had some great. Daisy is not so great days but when you're fighting the the constructive what the offense mindset is when you're fighting the cost of two guys. Maybe wanting to call plays at the time at Auburn a lot of things jurisdiction had to sit through One thing is clear cutting those things. Don't make a decision or call plays. He's GonNa make a decision on who coaches the quarterback. And that's going to be the mainstay so Put put players in a position that sixty give them every opportunity to succeed and if they don't then you go another direction but I wouldn't I would say for his career at Auburn. Being a transfer being so out of what is offensive Skill set provided based on the scheme that they ran He did he did a commendable job. There Want some big games and there's some nice things so now it's a it's the New England Patriots and obviously Tom Brady is left. And we're going to compare. It would do this kid a disservice if we mentioned Tom. Brady's name While he's trying to take the reins obviously he knows And everyone else knows what Tom Brady left in New England legacy that he left and the things that he was able to accomplish. But but this is like anything else man. Sports is like that sports is a sports ends abruptly guys retired guys go to different teams abruptly. There's no parade there's no Changing of guard or facilitate you know ushering in the mix guy. It's an abrupt ending. That's what Tom Brady just did born to sample. That's what Joe Montana did That's what Brett farve did and unfortunately for a lot of guys in this league in the NFL when you get your opportunity especially as a quarterback spot you either take advantage of it or you. Don't and that's what Tom Brady. If if I didn't take anything away from Tom Brady drew bledsoe out. Tom Brady comes in. The rest is history. How'd you go write his own book? And if if if the pages in the chapters are not as good as People think they should be or no one wants to really find somebody else to beat off. Nobody does it better. Nfl analyst. Marcus Spears on the Shell Pennzoil performance. I'm Marcus next time we appreciate you all right fifty care breath. I take your take brought to you by Shell. Power natural plus premium gasoline. I love get markets is insight on him specifically when I talk about Jarrett's didn't because right now I think you need to be looking at. Nfl analyst also have watched a lot of college football and understand who Jarret Stidham is in who jared stood him is going to be. There's another part of all of this and that's Tom Brady. What's next for Tom? Brady how did he get where he's going? But also what is the next step for Brady? They debated today. I take when Mike Greenberg Join Max Stephen Well. I'm excited for Tom Brady. I'm excited for all for all of us because I think one of the NFL season gets underway. And we see the opportunity for Tom. Brady to go against drew brees twice a year. Tom Brady and go against Matt Ryan twice a year. I think that's going to entertain us if we then. Nfc Conference obviously.
