Apple's Beta Effect

"Have my notes, the Beta effect to talk about, and what that is is with with with going from fourteen fourteen to fourteen one, which we believe made for iphone twelve, and that's why we're not getting that. We also believe fourteen to was made before the final version of fourteen point zero and so when you update to fourteen point to. You can't use the new blood oxygen sensor APP on the Apple Watch because it requires your phone to have the version to do something with the data and so my watch on seven point zero watch os before was on fourteen two I couldn't do the oxygen singer tests I. Guess You have to accept the health disclaimers and stuff upfront right? That's probably and it saves it there too like the background. Readings where they go. So I think should say it must save on your watch before like if you're out and about without your phone, it's back into some pretty sure and then he just sinks him up. Right. Yeah. Yeah. So but it's like ekg where you've gotta you've gotTa have the version match up to support it and we need when you like started in the health app on the phone does it Does have that like. Explain urine like disclaimers like it does when you do EKG yeah I don't recall I. Mean there is an I button for information on the readout on the watch explains thing like ninety and above is pretty good. You've got kind of hunt for it to find that I think it should be like under the readout not at an disclosure button but I think. The reason is they didn't get medical sign off on the sensor because they call a wellness not medical, right? Yeah. So they have to be very careful about how they present this information and we respect about spending Keno after the show like. is kind of silly at the moment you just get this number and then you're kind of left your and devices about what to do about it but they haven't go FDA approved the weather you know the necessary. Regulatory. Accreditation they need to be able to make more defined choices like they can with Iki the cagey where if it does detect potential arrhythmia a directly sound on the screen you know go talk to your doctor about it like they don't have that same flexibility with with the blackhawks jeans and that's why in the event they would say like we aren't doing studies about blood oxygen and Covid, nineteen. The Apple Watch has a blood oxygen sensor lie they never would linked together because. The purchase self. So the the APP on the watch is very nice I. Mean we saw the animation from the event on seeing it in person it's lovely. It's blue and red. It's like blood arteries. And it as fifteen seconds to run it to do an like an act of measurement and. As you near like say three seconds it becomes it begins to form a circle of completion and it's just so delightful. How how looks You do see the last. Measurement in the APP itself. So if you go just launch it, you'll see the last say passive measurement that picked up. So you might say like when our three hours ago. And That's neat. So it's more data than than just here do or read out. Your readings to be like. Consistent enough that you think it's good because I've seen some reviews like I've been getting some resource I get ninety, six, hundred lights will have the place. So I don't really trust it. Yeah. Well. Not How to. Read. Out. That was like you're below ninety. And then I had one that was like you're you're in the ninety range than I would maybe be concerned but I've seen the rains be from ninety three to one hundred back to back tends to be pretty consistent for me. Washington Post. They had an issue where they tried different watches and bands and just could not it to work the right way have had that experience. Sensor depends on like your skin and You know. The Senate doesn't work if you've got tattoos for instance so. Different reasons and stuff like transparent basically. So it's you know. No Job for it. And if there was an issue like despite being review watched, that's the point of this talk about the experience I would mention in trust me. I mean lot with the series five hours of disinterested and reviewing because of an issue that had which I read about instead. Of. The. Battery Life So. I've been on this one fine. Yeah. A lot of people have have had shoes with seven on their existing watches having less better life than they had before I have had that and I don't know what the clear processes take restores instead of his new

Backup Is Not a 4-Letter Word

"If, you've ever seen Dustin Hoffman in the movie the graduate. You'll recognize what I'm about to say. He received sage advice for his career in just one word now remember this was the nineteen sixties. That one word plastics? Will I have just one word that should be at the foundation of your backing up an archiving strategy automate Absolutely automate. So I'm going to be covering a few techniques today but at the heart of the process for your backing up in archiving and I will make a distinction between the two you need to have as much automation as possible. If indeed, you're truly going to have a system that is up to date in liable and all that good stuff. Now, in my case, I have I cloud in dropbox I cloud grabs, files of that are on my neck or that go into photos, and that's a lot of files I have the big plan to two terabyte plan and all they have to do is pay the. Bill once a month and I'm good to go. I don't have to think about it. Any further than that in dropbox grabs files out of specific folders again, just takes care of it. All to do is pay the annual fee and I'm good to go there as well. Now, you may choose a different service but I encourage you to bring as much automation as you can into your backup plan because the more automation you have the stronger your plan will be now before I get to my five tips in addition to automation I, just WANNA share a note on the difference between backing up in archiving, they are not synonymous. Backing up is what you do during the project to ensure that you don't lose your work if you're working on a wedding. You probably not going to get it all done in one night or in one sitting. So you back up so that when you come back to your wedding, you know you can just pick up and go. But as something weird happens, you haven't lost your project. But when you're backing up, you're not backing it up in the final state you're backing up a work in progress. Archiving happens when the project is over. In case, you need to revisit it for whatever reason. Now, archives are the final version in general you don't save all the incremental backups that lead to the final version you say, the final version itself. So archives are the final version. They don't need to be as quickly accessible as your backups, your backup she want right there on the flash drive or wherever you happen to be using. Their the works in progress archives the final version a writing. Now regardless of if it's an archive or backup, you need to have a system, right you need to have a system for managing both from this point forward I'm going to use a more or less interchangeably, but I want you to understand that archives are longer term backups are more works in progress. Right here are five additional thoughts to consider when endeavoring. To. Preserve your work. Okay. This start out with the classic three to one rule. I'm sure you're familiar with this and if you're not, you're going to be in just a few seconds three, two one. Well, what does that mean it means three copies of your data one primary copy into backups. Two types of storage media local drive you know network, you know whatever happens to be two types of media and one copy off site or in the cloud in the cloud qualifies as offsite three, two, one, three copies of your data, two types of storage media and one copy off site or in the cloud. Now, I do both offsite and in the cloud. So I have a copy of that goes to my home, right my. Primary. Copy is here at the studio I have it backed up on a hard drive here. So I'm actually like at four something like that, and then I have most of that data in the cloud. Well. So I like both offsite in cloud, but you know one or the other the thinking being that you can be as fastidious as possible backing up your data if you have it on a hard drive next to the computer. And something happens at that particular location, rather be theft or some sort of natural disaster or whatever. Then you still lose everything. So off site is important because chances are good that you know something that ten miles away on a server hundred miles away that if something happens to your locally that you're offsite copy will still be accessible case with three two, one, three, two, one, three copies, two types of media and one copy offsite. Number two don't erase your memory cards until three two one is in place. This is something that have advocated for a long time. Or at least consider your memory cards, one of those three

Boston - Seahawks Stop Cam Newton On The Goal Line, Escaping With 35-30 Win Over Patriots

"Pages Seahawks I tried to tell him that he keeps telling me. He doesn't this one came down to the last three seconds faster. The goal line down five with a chance and cam gets stuff not even close cam though and Ross did put on a show eight total touchdowns between them but the Patriots coming up too short here is Cam Newton on getting tonight on that last play. It was a great play by. Day We had favored gain program the couple of times figure. This thing into the world to midtown but identity today. Said so confident about. Being bowed executing. Could've balanced it no looking to. Better. Better here at the end. And You know we we put ourselves in a position to win and. When you do that and just gotTa Got Senate, show you'll be. and. With that, we welcome in our quarterback Michael Vick Mike. Let's start there. Would you make that final play the game? Cam said they may have went to the where one soon times with that play but that's the play that they executed. Well. Over the last two weeks and I think he scored a touchdown early on a similar plate and even ahead of play action off of that place. So. Bet Play is a play that they can use any. Situation would be third down. Razov and has been effective. I honestly don't think it should it came down to that play. There were plays in a game I think maybe one or two cam probably would have won it back. A couple questionable, third-down caused, and which they ran the ball nate allow Camden Doda football so. Probably should've never came down to that wind play particularly, but I think cam play well play winning football. They play football on both sides and I was very impressed highly impressed but off this play will spend more plays for the doing pages in Kansas and let's really comfortable. Running a system and they're going to be a tough team to beat. Not Soon Change. They're going to beat the New England patriots. Team planning the postseason easily but at the same time. They're gonNA come situations in the game where they gonNA. have to find ways to win games like this and I'm pretty sure that they'll go back and look this film. It comes down to them being. On one and a two yard line and finding a way to get it in I. Think they was kind of shocked in that moment and just search a four play call.

Emmys 2020: Who won big at the first virtual ceremony

"Emmy's happened last night. The last couple days I want to say like through last week, there was some of the you know, technical Emmys and Creative arts Emmys and they've all been I've been seeing like the results of those, but these were the actual Actors and actresses and shows and You know the hole, but it was It was virtual, right? Yes. So every I think that they They actually put a show together to do the Emmys. Um But the other ones that I think we're just getting. I'm sure there was some kind of ceremony on zoom or something. But I don't know that those ones were televised. They might have been. No, I mean, look, I didn't I Maybe you mentioned it. Maybe I read. Maybe I didn't. It was a shock to me at whatever time nine o'clock last night when I started seeing the news roll through, and I was like Emmys. You talked about it a little remember? It was, you know, because Jimmy Kimmel was hosting and so there was some talk, but I play police. Li forgot about it and the whole thing so I didn't see one second of it. Oh, yeah, no. And, frankly, these days because of you, Khun DVR things I'd never sit and watch things in real time anyway, so Because who wants us in just to put the others on When I organize S O. The big winner last night is Schmidt's Creek. It's not the name of the show, but right The clothes. They were saying it on TV because I did see a clip after that. They were saying the word, but I don't want you don't want no trouble with you. Just don't I considered it. You know, it spells have pointed out that every time they say it, they had to put the actual words upon these people can read it with. Oh, right. You see, It's not what you think There's an extra tea and they've thrown at sea in there, okay? So I'm just gonna say Schmidt's creek because I'm with you. You know, whatever. I just guess Monday's gonna be hard enough, right? Yeah. What's our theme? We don't want to. We don't want no trouble. That's right. I keep forgetting the better. That's our theme. Well, since I should write that down here, put it up with all my little, you know, daily affirmations. So the Emmys was virtual And Schmidt's Creek swept in all this is it's actually quite amazing because it has never won an Emmy in any other season. Currently they're grand total of Emmy's up till this season when they took him all zero. It doesn't It seems to be a show that we used to have a million of them. And not that, you know. Ahh, that name in particular is obviously means that's a cable show, right? I mean, it's just It's not your Big four or whatever. But it's just a sitcom, and it's fun and it's and it's not that You could miss it, and you wouldn't care. But you could also sit down and watch four episodes on any given night and be like, Wow, that was light. It was easy is their thread that you follow along with? Yes, it's the family that has moved. Uh, I won't tell you the whole story. But yes, there's a story behind Why they're in this motel and Right off super rich. It's only that I find a just a life. Oh, poor things. Is that a Netflix show? It doesn't even say here. Oh, yeah, It's a Netflix. Yeah. So they won nine Emmys for their sixth and final season, including best comedy Siri's. It's a new record for most wins in a single season for a single comedy. Marvellous. Mrs. Mazel had had the record. They said it in 2018 with eight and then they got eight more in 2019. And I don't know if this means that Mrs Mazel was just completely shut out. Oh, end because all the comedy awards seemed to have gone to Schmidt's Creek. The cast swept the acting categories, and that's the first time a comedy Siri's has done that Eugene Levy and Catharine O'Hara won best actor and actress and Daniel Levy and Annie Murphy, one supporting actor and actress. And they're saying here that's never happened. So congratulations to them. Daniel Levy also set a record for most wins for an individual in a seat in a single season with four because he also got trophies for writing and directing and Best comedy Siri's because he's a producer. So he actually technically that four Just for himself personally. Zero m. He's heading into the night. They never had any kind of incredible. But I guess you know, with my cell dominating in the last couple of seasons would be hard for anyone to rack up any numbers. They also set a record last night at the Emmys for most wins by black actors, including Regina King and Yaya Abdul Mateen. Ah, The second for watchman. Ouzo Duba for Mrs America. And Zendaya for euphoria. She's also the youngest Emmy winner in this category. Outstanding lead actress for drama. Stop me. If you have pulled any audio for any of these things in particular, I pulled some furs and die a winning it Isa from Oakland, apparently which is why we wanted to make sure we've got her on. So here she is reacting. Yeah, it is her reacting and she says a couple of things, but just there's there's a party behind her. So I know that I just want to say thank you to the TV academy to all the other incredible women in this category. I I admire you all so much. This is, um Oh, this is pretty crazy. Didn't really crying, Okay? I know this feels like a really weird time to be celebrating. But I just want to see that there is hope in the young people out there. I know that our TV show doesn't always feel like a great example of that. But there is hope in the other people, and I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets. I see you. I'm are you I Thank you. And yeah, thank you so, so much. Um, this is thank you. And, of course, is through zoom. So right. Well, everyone was zooming in S O. She's the youngest any award winner for outstanding lead Actress for drama. So congratulations, Twos and Dia. And I guess I assumed that that party was happening in Oakland flatter know about that, But I do know she's she's pretty accomplished for such a young lady heard she's stars in Great America, the greatest showman Ohio. I want to say the great American hero. I don't know what she's in the great American. Ah, SOS and Dia. Congratulations to her. Eddie Murphy and Maya Rudolph one for Saturday Night Live, I guess for guest appearances and Ron Cephas Jones for this is us Eso Black actors Big night of record for most wins by black actors at the Emmys last night. The ceremony itself was obviously very different. Jimmy Kimmel hosted in an empty arena. Tried to fool us with crowd reactions from past ceremonies. Was anyone some of that? Yeah, sure. I'll watch a little of that. Oh watchmen. Also what Jerry Falwell Jr was into Flashing people appreciating and there's a flash of him in the audience. Then how much hilarious here that would mean that no one is in the audience. That would mean that I'm a lump here all alone. You'll see them. They turn the lights up. Just of course I'm here all alone. Of course. We don't have an audience. This isn't a mag a rally. It's the Emmys. Instead of a live audience. We took a page from baseball tonight and we filled the seats with cardboard cutouts of the nominees. You can see we have. Regina King, Hugh Jackman, Jason Bateman. Wait a minute. Go back one. Jason Patient, He's really hilarious. Yes, they did move. Mind your business Camel Big night for May. I know it's a big night but you can't be in here. We have very strict safety protocols. I'm clean guy. OK, I'm a big big washer upper always have been smell my hands like a garden. No, thank you. I'm sure you're clean. That's not the point. We just have a limit on how many people we can have in the building. So you really need to go? No, I don't. I don't. Okay. I haven't left the house for six months. Don't send me back there. I want to be here. This isn't a ritzy You know, I mean, I wantto eat shrimp with the cast of the crown. All right, I'm gonna want Mario Lopez asked me about my pants. Let's go. We don't have any friends that you could stay as long as you promise to laugh at my jokes. I'm out. I'm gonna call the car Loved Jason Bateman. Job. Good job s O. He reveals he's alone Except for Jason Bateman. Jimmy Kimmel. Continue with the show and some presenters did join him live. Jennifer Aniston was there. Did you grab that? I did here. Let me just pull that up. On the video. I said. I said, thanks, Jimmy. Other all across the stage from each other, Never, Never mind. It? Yes, I'd love some wine. No, I I said, Never mind. Oh, why are you standing all so far away from me, Dr Fauci said 60 ft. So 60 ft. No, isn't he said 6 Ft. Thank you. You also have sexy feet. Okay? Here, and that's it. Hilarious by the way. She then got in her extremely fast car lives right around the corner from there, and ah, she she made another appearance from her house later. So right? Yeah, but we're here. Oh, okay heads and there's Courtney Cox, Courtney's there. Of course I'm here. We live together. You do know there's a lag. Yeah, We've been roommates since 1994. But I don't know is it is this live TV? Both of you very well done. It's super cute. But the awkward, you know, three seconds of science, retired ruins everything before it does. We're very well acquainted with the awkward three seconds of silence, ruining everything. That is the life we're living right now. Anyway. Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox and Lisa could row whether she just jetted home after 60 ft. Away appearance on the show the awards, though, as they handed these out So I'm not sure how exactly this happened. If only the people who were actually getting the awards had people in has Matt suits outside their homes. No, it seems that Ah, they had everybody on standby like you'd have somebody in front of your house and has been with the award, but you might not win. So that way, everybody still kind of Were they holding? Just like a box. So you didn't know if there was any in it or not. Or that there were things that they were popping out of boxes, too. And that no one boxes that seemed really mean That was a really when I think, John Oliver, go when I have that mean here and you just pulled it up for you, too. Barrett. It pops open and there is it Pops open and and some confetti sprays out. Although that is right on the desk of his HBO set. Although I assume that that desk is in his garage, no, right. Cause that's where he's doing it from. So anyway. Nominees were all it remote locations, many in their own homes. Ah, they were doing the awards were delivered to those locations by people in has Matt suits, and they say someone had to be on hand for every so there was a guy hanging out in Has Matt suit whether you won or not, Some people actually took a visit. Do you have the Remmy use of dew? So this guy did not win in his category. Vinny and Ah, and there's the guy who has He's he's holding the little trophy. He's got the ones walking away having Oh, my God by you didn't win. All that's so sad, right? Well in some categories, all the nominees were given a box and then the winners boxwood Spring open and a hand holding the statue would pop out some They? Obviously a lot of people had to know that they did or didn't when I had a time. Other highlights her H e r her belt it out. Nothing compares to you. During the Emmys in Memoriam segment. Here's a little Since you've been gone ever. I can see whoever dinner in a fancy restaurant. Nothing can take away these blues. Come So she's playing piano, too. Way link that up with the Facebook page that people can see that isolated. Thank you. Ah, David Letterman got kicked out of an uber before presenting an award. I'm sure that wasn't set up. Celebrities revealed what they've been doing during the pandemic. Stop me if you have any of this stuff, Bernie Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington tried to skip 2020 skip to 2021 by ring in the New Year's Belle and her here. I watch Dave Letterman thing doesn't translate actually, wasn't it was? I don't know. It's the The New Year's party just wasn't I don't know It was well, you know, New Year's party with only two people is just not Doesn't feel New Year's Eve. They're saying The emotional highlight of the night was Tyler Perry's speech while accepting the governor's award. Um and then let me see if there's anything else here that I want to make sure that you I just have you have any questions about any categories Have all the categories here, I should, say Dave Chappelle, one for sticks and stones, best pre recorded variety special. Um, yeah, I don't have any questions, but I do. Look without trying to sound like I'm patting ourselves on the back because I'm not trying to do that. I give credit to anybody who's trying to do a show right now. Absolutely. It's a pain in the butt, and you'll see why they could absolutely see why they went through with it. But I could also see if they said not this year, everyone where does it go ahead? Mail you your prize and Here's the announcement work and that and the example the best example of it is that three The five second lag between the friends and less like Jesus. What is that? That's that's live. That's national TV. That's international TV right now. Well, that's you know, that's the world. We're living in pin, right? Everything sucks. The best variety sketch. Siri's went to Saturday night live and actually have a little bit of news about that. The full cast from last year is coming back this year. Usually there are at least some changes, and there were rumors that Kay McKinnon was going to leave. And she's got a career outside of this, but season 46 is starting October 3rd. And it's coming back to Rockefeller Center studio for the first time since the shutdown. They are going toe put all kinds of safety protocols in place, but it looks like we're going to get actual I'm sure will be no audience. But it will be live apparently, and that will happen there at their normal studio. So they say. The last time there was no caste turnover between seasons was 07 when the 33rd season began with the ensemble intact, So everybody who you liked last year and everybody who didn't like last year We'll be back. That season 46 in playing Joe Biden. On Saturday night Live will be Jim Carrey. Oh, wow, really adding a big name to play one of the candidates. Ah, it looks like You know, they're saying it's gonna happen Ah for the for the debut, but they're basically safe in the 46 season, which debuts October 3rd. I I I'm guessing that he's sort of signed on to participate this whole season. There's going to be a lot of Biden this season. So maybe they said we, you know, and we'll pay you and we'll put you up and you could be alone. Fancy shmancy penthouse in New York City. So they are adding three new featured players to their cast. They'll have a limited studio audience for the coming season, but it's going to it's going to happen. And Jim Carey is I'm looking at a side by side of the two of them with a little make up, I think Kind of like, I think his teeth are going to work. I think it's going to work October. 3rd is when the new season starts, and we'll get to see how Jim Carey does plan Joe Biden's I Love So It doesn't matter to me before you a break, sir. Do you want to hear Because the texture of accident about hers performance saying that you check out her guitar riff in the end? Oh, she jumped up from the piano and gets on the guitar playing the cameras. He had a guitar strapped to the back of her so Oh, Here we go. This's the show Chad with the, uh that was beautiful. The Return of Playoff Rondo

"So Bill Game One against Houston was Rozan rondos first game nearly six months. Can you break down everything that he went through with injuries? Yeah. It was interesting because this is a guy who has been slowly it feels like kind of breaking down as he's gotten older he had two broken fingers on his right hand last year his first year with the Lakers. This year he had a calf injury. He had an aversion fracture in his right ring finger and this is all before we get to March and the shutdown from the pandemic. So the Lakers are off for four months they go to. ORLANDO. Rajon Rondo is with the team their first practice inside the bubble Lakers guard Rajon Rondo has suffered a broken right thumb in. He's expected to return to full basketball activities in six to eight weeks, he's going to undergo surgery to repair the fact fracture this week. So he leaves the bubble has surgery. He's out for another six weeks or so the Lakers have a first round series against the Blazers Rondo, comes back to the bubble and is actually cleared to play for game three against the Portland Trailblazers, he's on the court getting ready. For that Game Rondo was listed as active tonight for the Lakers but was a late scratch with back spasms that happened. So, by the time, we got to game one of the second round against the rockets. There was kind of this sense of porcelain Rondo forget about it what level, but is he just going to be healthy enough to play and be able to stay healthy to make a contribution to this team? What does he had to say about all of these injuries he basically downplayed the injuries and said that these are the sorts of things that are going to frustrate. Anyone was very frustrating injury and step back I'm my career fourteen years have. Everything happens for a reason. Obsolete man says talks we. Still for the moment but the timing of this latest injury, the broken thumb and the back spasms I think particularly frustrating for him because this is a guy whose entire reputation and career is built on playoff performance on being a guy who really ramps it up in the postseason. Early, in his career uses a second your point guard with the Celtics out of Kentucky playing with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen and Paul. Pierce and he ended up playing an instrumental role. You remember the two thousand, eight finals against the Lakers decisive blowout game. You know he had twenty one points against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers twenty one point seven rebounds eight assists six steals to give the Celtics a championship for that story franchises nearly ovation barrage. You've seen it win Lebron was in Miami. If you remember game three of these conference semi finals Rondo dislocated his elbow. Oh. Wow. Left arm hyper-extended boy. Didn't see it on that I replay certainly. Saw It there. When back to the locker room pop back in came back onto the court to help the Celtics with game. Time is pad. Rajon Rondo expired the crowd rare Boston. We've seen it time and time again in his career in these big moments, it's not superhuman. But when you take a player who is seen as a high level, but not superstar player can a hitting that superstar switch when the playoffs come then obviously a legend starts to grow. And for him did have another injury right when the Lakers were expecting to get him at his best was extremely frustrating. But the timing actually ended up working out he made it back for the second round series against the rockets and as we've seen was really no worse for the wear the Lakers got blown out by the rockets in game one. They're all going to be in a good mood tonight as the Houston Rockets when it one twelve to ninety seven. But after that, they rattled off four straight wins how much credit do you think Rondo deserves further taking that series. So easily I think you could make an argument that without Rajon Rondo certainly that the Lakers wouldn't have off the next four wins, but he was instrumental in games two and three and four also, but specifically games two and three with his performance in the fourth quarter game too. He knocked down a late jump shot to kind of hold off the rockets and what was a close game Rondo two. Point jump shot that's Rajon Rondo with a bucket right there ten points nine assists for Rondo and then engaged three. He was actually the guy who is Lebron James on the bench to start the fourth quarter in what was a close game at the start of that period he either scored or assisted on Lakers I eight possessions of that quarter to help kind of turn what had been another tight close game into a rout for the Lakers. Rondo. He'll three and Rondo hits another one largest laker lead tonight Rondo has. Been Spectacular and a nice Lee for Kuzma. This is sort of how his reputation has been built. But this also is kind of out of line with the way he's played for the Lakers over his first two years. He hasn't been the guy who has come up in the big moments or been clutch. You've seen the decline of a player who's in his mid thirties and has been in the League for fourteen years, but there has always been this belief from the Lakers that when the playoffs come that he. Would step up and have those sort of vintage Rondo performances and so what you saw was sort of this return to form that the Lakers have always promised would be there and you saw not only offensively. But also defensively when Houston started to make runs, it was Rajon Rondo who was picking up James Harden full court and pestering him into turnovers they double team Arden and get a steal and another round of bucket. That's a ten old laker run hard was trying to go behind the back Rondo was right there. In both game two in game three second-half possessions where rondos picking up James Harden. The former MVP of the league, hounding him into a turnover, taking his pocket and going the other way for layup that completely shifted momentum and those both are Lakers win. So when you look at what Rondo did in those two games, I, think you could easily say that the Lakers could have been down two. Oh, two one in the series instead of kind of romping to a five game series victory.

Millsap helps Nuggets rally, stun Clippers 111-105 in Game 5

"The nuggets staying alive staying alive mill sap helps the nuggets rally to stun the clippers. That's fair to say one eleven one. Oh, five in game five. Series three two but they still got a Chance Trade Kirby already professor Paul Millsap pissed off Paul home. You kidding me. I thought this one was over. A twelve point lead have for the clippers they were looking good quiet Leonard was doing his thing. Look really impressive. The defense was all right. And Paul millsap was honestly looking washed. In the first half and then Marcus Morris Wench. Chin with him you never go Chinda Chin. Forehead. Only, he went Chinda Chin and that set Paul millsap off fourteen points in the third quarter. Basically brought the nuggets back into the game they got into an incredible rhythm and then eventually the clippers just couldn't stop him. They stayed hot until the fourth quarter and it was all because Paul millsap like he's beefed with the Morris brother before I don't really know which one it was I think it was marquee, but I am not a guarantee. He has history with the family. Let's say that and it happened again tonight and somehow it cost the clippers the game pissing off Paul? You don't do it in down in the bubble. Like Paul Millsap was getting dragged in the first half. He was looking terrible and then you know unleashed the whole.

DoH coming to Chrome for Android

"Does not going to be able to type it in. DO H. is coming to chrome for. android. Although the desktop releases of chrome? have offered the enhanced security and privacy that many of us love offered by DNS over https. which appeared in chrome three two. Major versions ago? It wasn't added to the IOS or Android wins back then but last Wednesday's chromium blog was titled a safer and more private browsing experience on Android with secure DNS. And I think I would argue that that's a good place to have D- DNS over https. Paraphrasing from Google posting for the sake of Brevity, and to skip a bunch of stuff that we all already know they said. With, Chrome eighty-five. We're extending support of secure DNS in chrome to Android as we did for the launch of D. O. H. on chrome for desktop platforms will progressively roll out do H. on chrome for Android to ensure the feature stability and performance as well as an I think this was significant to help do H. providers scale their services accordingly. As we've talked about the fact that that arguably. Setting up. Persistent. https connections to DNS servers is a significantly more burdensome process for the server than just fielding UDP packets DNS you know traditionally over UDP is incomes a packet and A reply. https involves the whole T. L. S. handshake to set it up, and then you're maintaining persistent session and I don't want to have to do that every time you make a DNS query or a be way slower and nobody wants a performance hit when you get authentication and privacy. But still you're you have to maintain state over at the server end in order to offer this service and that can require the PRI- The providers to scale in order to make that happen. So presumably, there are gonNA be keeping an eye on how well this does and in fact, they talk about that a little bit about the possible need to fall back they they said. android chrome will automatically switch to DNS over https if your current DNS provider is known to support it. And I just hit the space bar by mistake of scrolled. This also applies to your current android private. DNS. That's DNS over. If you have configured one, they said this approach means that we can preserve any extra services provided by your configured DNS service provider such as family safe filtering, and therefore avoid breaking the users expectations making it transparent. They said in this automatic mode chrome will also fall back to the regular DNS service of the users current provider. For example, if you had configured DNS over T. L. S.. In order to avoid any disruption while periodically re trying to secure DNS communication. So presumably, as I said if the provider were become overloaded or stop offering the services for a while, it'll just smoothly drop back to traditional DNS. They said in case this default behaviour isn't suitable to your needs. Chrome also provides manual configuration options allowing you to use a specific provider without. As. Well as the ability to completely disabled feature. They said if you're an IT administrator, chrome will disable secure DNS. If it detects a managed environment via the presence of one or more enterprise policies, we've also added new DNS over https enterprise policies to allow for a managed configuration of security and s and encourage it administrators to look into deploying DNS over https for their users. So anyway, basically, it's what we've what we've seen before. By. well by by chrome and pretty much now, all of the browsers who who are wanting to move their clients and and users from DNS over UDP traditional DNS over to https. So it's just gonNA happen seamlessly chrome will start supporting it if they see that you're using and it comes with a list of known providers. If they see that you've already switched your DNS there than they, they will just upgrade you to. To that provider if that provider is known to offer the service and because it'll be an automatic grade if there's a problem, they'll back you out of it and then in addition once that's provided under chrome for Android, you can also switch it to. Sort of a non automatic mode, provide the IP address and other URL requirements for http or for for D dns over https and start using it so again. To be I think that makes a lot of sense especially when at a mobile devices out roaming around more you're away from home where you're dns has only going essentially never even going. Public at all, it's just to to your own local provider in order to get resolution. So. Good to see this happening, and of course, we've talked about how this is also being rolled out for windows

The Case Of Chad And Lori Daybell

"Dick I feel like we've kind of been just living this case the last several days there's so much that we had to delve into. So let's just start with an overview of the timeline going back to the beginning because it's very complicated and as much for me as for the listeners a little review and a little in-depth investigation into these things would be helpful both helpful the me. We did last week's first part of this and I'm just at the time you do it do the recording. It sounds reasonable. Then as I think back about it, I'm trying to say what happened when who did what? So. This'll be very helpful. It's a crazy thing and of course, with the tragic ending, which is horrible. So. Let's go back to Chad Day Bell. He married his first wife Tammy in nineteen ninety and they had five children together over the years in Nineteen ninety-two Laurie got married for the first time at age eighteen and this marriage only lasted a very short time under a year from what I've heard. Then she remarried in nineteen ninety five and that's when she gave birth to her son Colby in nineteen, ninety six. Again, she got divorced then in two, thousand one, she married Joseph Ruin and Laurie and Joe had their daughter Kylie together in two thousand and two, and just a little bit of a word about Tyler's childhood. We we know that she was used as a pawn by Laurie and her divorce custody filings against Joe Ryan. But there's also some evidence fairly convincing evidence that Laurie mains have had Munchausen by proxy pilot who's in and out of the hospital many times, and she even had exploratory surgery to quote figure out what was wrong unquote and that's something that just. Really isn done nowadays, right? No, it isn't that if we go back a few years that was something I mean if if you have parent who keeps bringing a child into the office bureau for various complaints and you have run tests and nothing ever shows up, you might have considered doing an exploratory bit of surgery as probably a what's called a lap me. Where they look inside the the belly at the F. Domino contents and maybe take biopsies just to see if there was something that they had missed Leah from my experience on a pediatric surgical floor though they only do that when they're like at the end of their rope, this is after days of observing taking the kid off of a regular diet doing. IV fluids run, they do a lot of things I and the munch just love to hang out in the room for days and get the attention. So this is very classic Munchausen by proxy behavior who certainly is yet it really is and no illness was ever determined, which is significant I think road even with the surgery. Yes. So so there you go. Exactly. Nine, two, thousand when Tyler was about six, her therapist raised concerns about the stress Tyler was going through with her health issues and the custody issues. Tally, did say to the therapist that she did enjoy visits with her father. There were documented concerns about Laurie being dishonest on Tyler's intake forms. One of these things whereas where Lori said, the tally had pancreatitis. The custody documents I was able to peruse showed that Kylie did say she enjoyed visits with her father but then she told the therapist that she was frightened to stay overnight because her father molested her now she used the word molested and when her mom came into the room with her and the therapist apparently tie looked at Lori and said I, told her. So it just really I'm not convinced that Joe sexually abused tightly and I'll always believe someone until I have reason not to especially a child but there were some classic signs of the Mother Coaching her. So in two thousand, four, Laurean Joe were divorced and Laurie remarried Charles Valo in two, thousand six. Now for those of you who are counting Charles's husband number four. Yes, and in two thousand, twelve, a little boy named Joshua. Jackson was born he's he's the biological child of Charles Valez nephew his grandparents cared for jj until they made the decision along with Lori and. Charles that Lori Charles would adopt and raise JJ, and this was back in two thousand fourteen. Laurie already had colby and entirely. So the grandparents K. and Larry Woodcock were really thinking that they might have a better home there because there'd be other kids. It's kind of their little bit younger than Larry and K. so laurie who they thought was just a wonderful mom. At, the time agreed to adopt the little boy with Charles and then Laurie Charles entirely moved to Hawaii along with JJ services in two thousand fourteen when the adoption went through the options gone through and we've Kurt the family now lorries. Oldest son is what out of the house at this point because he's like eighteen nineteen, he didn't move to Hawaii with them now. He didn't in two thousand fifteen back to Chad, Tammy and the family moved to Idaho from Utah Right, in two years later, the veil of family moved back to Arizona, from Hawaii then on April third two, thousand, eighteen lorries, ex husband, her third husband Joseph Ryan was found dead in his home Laurie was notified as she was still listed as his next of kin. Didn't notify Joe's sister Anne who by all accounts she was very close to Anne was still a part of tiles life, your birth Maurice to ruin agenda Yes. I know we've talked about this a little bit in part one, but you did get a chance to review the autopsy. They were a few things that stuck out to us like the fact that the height was off and they call them a heavyset guy which he really wasn't. No. But remember he was in his apartment for at least a week decomposing before anyone found was a neighbor who found him that's correct. Yes and we don't have the entire autopsy but the cause of death was per tiriac sclerotic heart disease, which means that you're coronary arteries getting clogged up, which isn't really crazy for a fifty nine year old man to die of in general but

The Strange Death Of Jos De Jess

"The first video has four hours of surveillance footage from May twentieth two, thousand, fifteen the day said died the video is grainy and it has no sound and this is on the day of his death on May Twentieth Two Thousand Fifteen. So, let's start. This surveillance camera is looking down at what seems to be one of the medical units at the detention center. In the video, we see detainees walking around some are on crutches to others are being pushed around wheelchairs. This is clearly a low level holding area. So remember this is the point at which say is still locked up by himself, but he's no longer on suicide watch he's been downgraded and we don't really know why and now he's being checked on every fifteen minutes by a guard. That's what say that the shower area maybe. Yeah. At about two thirty PM, we finally see Jose, we see two guards walk up to his cell, an escort him out they walk into the back of the frame and he walks into an area that the camera can't see. But we know from police documents that this is Jose took a shower minutes. Later he's escorted back to his cell. This is the last time Jose is seen walking around, and it's the last time he leaves the cell where he dies. About, three hours go by surveillance footage and every fifteen minutes a guard is seen walking by says door looking in and writing something down on a clipboard hanging outside his door. These are the checks that the doctor ordered and yes, the guard does come by every fifteen minutes although he doesn't spend much more than a few seconds looking in when he walks by then at the five thirty PM check the guard doesn't just walk by this time he looks in and then pauses exam. At Five twenty seven stairs. Knocks on the door. To host cell. The guard is bending over looking inside through a cutout in the door that they used to give detainees their food, and he continues to bend down for a couple of minutes perhaps calling out his name, and now he's standing there looks unsure looks in again. Doesn't look as call now he's moving quickly to sign that he realized something must be wrong. So they've got a detainee looking in the door probably speaking Spanish. No response he comes back with a few more. They opened the door for a second and then quickly shut it again, one by one five guards and two nurses gather outside the door waiting for another guard to come with a protective shield seven minutes have gone by since the guard found him unresponsive finally, they opened the door and move in. This is where the second video comes in. It's a hand held video taken by a guard in that very moment the moment, the guards and medical staff enter hoses sell. My God to watch my God Oh my God. All right. So the first thing we see is actually just to stop frame. Of some feet. Like looking like they're running. Video is allies. To fifty three. This is going to be intense people. Did. The video starts with Jose lying face down on a green mattress. He's not moving and the first guy that goes in puts a riot shield on his back. Jose is still alive but unresponsive. Over there. Let's as clearly making choking sounds and his body is entirely limb. Somebody misdiagnosis and says, he's having a seizure. Somebody else says if you see just leave him there. He's having a seizure. Another guard grabs as arms pulls them behind his back and puts handcuffs on them. That's when the shield is removed. The medical staff takes his pulse. Meanwhile, someone gives an order to take the handcuffs off. One of the guards seems to be having a hard time finding the right key and then fitting the key in the handcuffs he struggling to get them off of Jose. Because it's taking him. So long another guy tries to help him get the hangups. Off. Almost one minute goes by before the handcuffs are removed. Out. To give you an idea of how much time a minute is. That was just twelve seconds of it. Right after the handcuffs are removed, the video stops. We've been reporting on this case for so long we've met Jose's family and we felt like we knew a lot about him and yet this is the first time that we've ever seen him. The footage is haunting and yes, it leaves us with some answers but with even more questions, it's possible that they're doing everything by the book, but there's No way around it is that looking at it? You know looking at them like spend forty, five seconds fiddle with keys on handcuffing while a man is dying is super hard to watch. You know we know what happens. We know he dies. So we just watched the last two minutes and fifty three seconds of somebody somebody being alive. It's a lot. And knowing what we know now, the people in that room didn't know but we know that will we're watching is somebody who put a sock down his mouth. So far down his throat, we can't

They win the series in five and moving on and how big is the loss of Teuku. All of a sudden to grasp decides to make a sudden departure was talk that have been an emergency you know something going on with his. One of his kids but opted out of the postseason and It's a big drop off when you lose Rask and go to Yorislav Halack Nice, still a nice goalie. But now all of a sudden, you have a guy like Dan Blood Dr later, I don't even know how you pronounce that game, I've never heard of them but. Social Media Risks Parents - Especially Of Girls - Should Know About

"For us for US old fogies it's probably going to provide some context here. So let's go back and some of you remember this back in the early days of social media like around two, thousand, three, two, thousand, four. You've got social media back then like friendster my space. Really. Wow. Did you have a mind? Is Account somewhere out there. Too Much excalibur. And facebook was really so the facebook but it was mainly, you had to be a college student on a college campus, they have access to facebook. and. These were actually it was a nice place. Social Media was very tame back then. It's kind of like, Hey, look at me here's some pictures. Here's the bands that I like what I'm listening to here's the links to smile into my friends. You know everybody remembers here's another meeting right now at this restaurant look at this great meal. and. That was kind of the first few years of what social media was. There was no censorship. There was no you know multimillion dollar corporations coming in and taking over. And there was no political groups spreading outrage or propaganda on social media. It was not really a destructive environment back. Then it wasn't toxic wasn't a toxin environment in any anyway. So then some big changes starting to happen in the kind of the mid to late two thousand. So facebook. started. To allow anyone to join, you didn't have to be a college student. So anybody can create an account and then in two thousand nine. facebook introduced the like button, and now for the first time everything and everyone can be graded and ranked, and now everybody is rewarding or punishing everyone else by simply clicking a button whether they like or dislike you you know Lance I can totally hear some of our listeners right now saying who cares if you get a like or not and I wouldn't be surprised if listeners say facebook, what's that? But because of for mature adults, we are more developed in don't tire identity to social media but in this is critical because for younger adults or children social media has now become a popularity contest. So now, speech isn't just you and me talking openly it becomes how do I get more likes and approval? So other platforms like twitter come out and they introduced the re tweet button yet, and now the things that I'm saying that we're saying right here on this podcast that you're liking tend to be the things that are going to make people emotional or even sharing my frustration or anger, and then you or anyone compress re tweet and spread that. So now my frustration and anger can go to thousands or even millions of people within a day that share or want to have the same expression and like the way that somebody else says it. You're correct in an I think between two, thousand, nine, two, thousand, twelve kind of this is the next step when when the news media mainstream media began to realize, hey, the social media thing is not going away and it may even overcome and overtake us. So the mainstream media begins to adapt to this new world in which people now and they're not going to CNN. They're not going to the New York Times for their information as much. They're getting their news and their opinions from social media and often I can tell you without fact checking anything. It's like well, you know. God bless my mom but I don't know how many times she's like well I saw it on facebook it has to be true. It must be true. If you're rushing spy putting it on. I'm like. So now we can we can go down rabbit hole on how social media and also creates echo chambers and in confirmation bias because one of the things that facebook switched over to it used to be that you would get everybody get all this information. And it was kind of random. Well, facebook started optimizing that to where they're GONNA only gonNA show you social media is only gonNA show you the stuff that they think you want to hear and like. So this changed in became more of an engagement focused thing. So now, you this confirmation bias because now we can only we can choose to just watch and listen to the point of view that we agree with. and. Let's get an. So that that's a whole rabbit hole. We go down I don't WANNA do that. You can go back and listen to somewhere where podcast we talk about that. But let's get to what this means for parents and specifically for parents of daughters so. T this you know this is probably relate to a lot of our guys out there. So in the development process boys. Are. Our maturity are hierarchy or or the the Alpha male is kind of based on. You know things like our athletic ability are toughness. Our ability to dominate or insult can competition teasing. You know drinking soda through your nose with a straw. Those are the things like middle school boys are. That's important to them. Things like that. Now, I'm not. I'm not Dourson this behavior agreeing with this saying that you know what this type of behavior is admit just that's just what it is. It's the scientific fact that this is kind of how middle school and high school boys move through their child development process. We could argue that. I would argue this Dante that some boys never develop out of the state and we have thirty and forty year olds who are still clinging to this. Alpha, Male, I'm the toughest I can dominate an insult you model. By that. Maybe, fifty year old. That's me later there. But but for girls and for daughters, this is specifically different. It's about who's in WHO's out, who is included, who is ex colluded who's friends with who who knows who secrets. And so the Female. Tends to be not physical like boys like they're not going to wrestle and fight it's relational and it's a Lotta drama. girls don't bully each other. You know generally, girls don't bully the each other physically so much. But what girls do is they gossip and they damage each other's relationships and again, we could argue that they're grown women even in our churches that still cling to this model now again. Not. dosing anything. That this is we agree with this behavior and I'm just I'm just regurgitating medical science and facts kind of the development process so. Around two, thousand, eight, two, thousand, nine when we start seeing smartphones coming out, the iphone first comes out and now you have social media is in your hand and in your pocket at all times. Okay. So with girls and daughters, this multi by this multiplies, a girl's ability to be able to damage each other's relationships enormously. So in some homes and in some cases. Children Girls They have access twenty, four seven to this device in which their thoughts emotions and images can be reported can be rewarded or punished by. Clicking a button and so if you had a fight with a girl that day in school, she can get on there and spread nasty things about you and you everybody's not liking you or making fun of you via anonymous social media on a phone and while adults adults, we might shrug things off and say, what's the big deal I mean who cares but you gotta remember girls in this vulnerable stage in development middle school high school they're looking for approval they're looking for inclusion and they're being they're looking to you know being seen. As beautiful as much and they're much more susceptible to anxiety depression, self harm and even suicide this you know approval inclusion in comparison that they're dealing with is that make sense Dante?

Microsoft releases Surface Duo

"Wasn't a surprise to anybody who was seeing the writing on the wall but I somebody who wasn't aware that Microsoft was preparing to release a phone or a surface duo that isn't quite a phone. The announcement happened. It happened on Tuesday. It was a pretty big deal for people who? have been looking forward to this product. It was announced alongside the surface neo, which was a is a windows ten x product that has been since delayed before we get into the actual product was this launch sped up at all like we were under the impression that it would come out later in twenty twenty perhaps in the fall or or or even the holiday season but now it's launching in September. What what happened to push up that launch if if anything? Yes. So chat out to Zach Boden, our senior editor who's been. Covering a lot of this and he's the one that's been a lot of the sourcing on this information. So important to talk with this device has been in development literally for five years at least conceptually up until now in a lot has changed since then you know the chemo. was interested in this idea of round two, thousand, fifteen apparently, and he started putting together how how they do stuff at that. One reason you don't get leaks for Microsoft, is they build stuff internally in this one building on campus they three d print everything. So it always stays internal, but he started printing up like basically two smaller screens and tach dumb start carrying them in his pocket. Investigating what was the ideal size here. and. Then we start hearing about around two thousand seventeen. She's started hearing around two thousand seventeen and back then it was GONNA be like windows mobile or maybe kind of windows ten device we weren't really sure and then windows quarrel West started coming out with information air, which is basically abstractions of way from the with the fundamental understanding of windows ten is. And then. Stuff basically change right? They made a decision some time I believe in two thousand, nineteen early on that they weren't going put windows ten on this or windows ten acts or windows quarter wes. For the simple fact that they needed mobile APPS. So they made this like pretty last minute change to go to android and because of that. You know. It was announced with the android a last year as you mentioned, and then it was gonna be holiday season for this year but the specs of the device haven't changed much mostly because they've been so focused on core aspects of the design and function -ality which we'll talk about later that you know it's running a snapdragon e fifty five we all know does have she does doesn't have certain features that people expect in their phones and the F. Samsung coming out with the full to, and we only have the flip and LG. So the market is already starting to move towards this. So they did speed up the release and it's not so much a sped it up cutting corners it just it's done. The hardware was already done for a while it was more about getting android onto this device and as you know and you can speak to a little bit. It's didn't just slap android on this they worked with Google what really makes us device interesting is just how good android To work on dual screens but because of that. They sped it up. And they want to get it out as soon as possible because we already know internally do oh to is in developments like you know calm people expect companies now to do yearly updates on phones yearly yearly releases I should say and that's pretty much can be the case here we're expecting and you can't. You don't want to release a phone in December or November and then released next ball you know knowing how like six or seven months eight months ago I mean some people would only buy with four months upgrade right you. You try to avoid that as much as possible. So yeah, they're trying to get if you're one plus which you do twice a year up. Yes. Right, they're crazy. Yeah. So but yeah so that that's concept long. It's been pushed up ahead of time, but it's basically finished. So it's good. Okay. So before we get into the android side of things, I, still want I wanNA linger on hardware a little bit because it is so important to talk about what you're getting. Panos Panay. So you mentioned Panos, this is the chief product officer of. Microsoft he's the person who stands on stage introducing all the surface products and over the last few years that's run the gamut from surface laptop to the surface book. To the surface pro, we have that massive surface screening. What's that thing called the studio studio which is beautiful. So. There's clearly a cohere cohesion in the hardware division right now that I it finds. Microsoft. Sort of at the peak of its game and I've been really impressed with it as somebody who does not really. Spend a lot of time in that world not nearly as much somebody like you. Tell me about the surface. Design as it relates to other surface products and what the intent is given that it is an android phone, ultimately how it plans to fit into that surface narrative if you will share I I just wanted to talk about a little bit about who this is four because this is such A. You know we're we're so used to win a phone comes out funding like some something from Samsung, for instance. It's a mass release consumer device Arabize by everybody wants it. Surfaces typically aren't like that you need to think of surface devices one as harass perations devices. So they're always a little bit more expensive. They're also things that other companies are supposed to look at like that's a good idea we should do that. Encourages companies to. Not necessarily copied design one for one but a to rip off of it basically to get inspired by do their own take And that sort of the role of surface duo it's not meant to compete with Samsung and apple at this level of like grandma's GonNa go by Jimmy down the streets going to go by my neighbor Bob. Want want it's it's not that you may look at it. It'd be like that's a cool idea. Someday I may want something like that. That is exactly It's built for Panos Panay. Send us like publicly it's built for fans of surface people who live in Microsoft ecosystem. That's a very small group of people admittedly, and that's their expectations here for a sales. You know it's and so when people complaining what type of price later on all this kind of stuff, I get it but at the same time. They see this as sort of just a foot in the door for this new category of devices they're hoping in a couple of years as they go through rations, other companies get evolved that prices come down that. Then it becomes that mass consumer device no different than how surface pro did the same thing whichever's pro came out years ago two, thousand twelve. People laughed at it. It got bad battery life had problems. It didn't. You'll people complain about lap ability like there's all this kind of stuff going on with that and he stuck with it now served pros a well established sort of concept in terms of two and once. So. Of. Markets for and terms of design. You know some people will point to courier, which goes back to two thousand nine. This is a Microsoft project that was internal. It's a hassle dating story about development they were supposed to. They basically came to Bill Gates and was like we can do like windows phone and mobile, or we can do this courier thing and they decided against her. Because it was too proprietary. It didn't actually run any version of windows everything in it was custom built firmware. So you couldn't run like out what God was all this custom. Stuff but you couldn't stall things. And there's some DNA there. Right. But you know four Panos is idea comes down to a digital mole skin. He's been obsessed with this idea I don't even know what it most until years ago, which is a fancy journal, right? It's a bound fancy journal that people in artists and creative people like to carry around and he loves his idea of like a small digital version of that March has always done this idea. That's why other displays are three two aspect ratio. They liked to base things off of what we already know magazines, books, things that work right you. You can criticise whether books you know analog books today are relevant, but the fact is there's something about. Books Right. Like we all have kindles we all love kindles but we also all love the idea sometimes if growing up with a nice book, just opening it up and dog eared the the pages that's where to concept of duo comes from his his idea of a dual screen. Digital Journal kind of device could also work on with two displays.

How Harry Styles' ‘Watermelon Sugar’ Became His First No. 1 Single on the Hot 100

"Harry styles scores his first number one on the hot one, hundred as his single. Server searches from number seven to number one out as the hot one hundred is comprised of airplay sales and streaming data. Let's take a closer look at the songs gains in those respective areas. It climbs three two on the all format radio songs chart with eight percent gain in audience. It flies nine to one on the digital song sales chart with a six hundred and fourteen percent gain to sixty three, thousand copies sold, and it rises twenty nine to eighteen on the streaming songs chart with a one percent gain to fourteen point two million streams there was a bevy of promotion last week that kicked into high gear in support of the single I think fans and probably Harry's label knew that this was their chance probably to get to the song number, one Harry released three physical. Singles and his web store each of them came with a digital download of the song and that counted towards sales for the week his single with sale price for sixty nine cents at all major retailers, and there was even a couple of new videos for the song that were released as well. A one I think was like like a tour visual, which I think people thought would be like the visual that would have been behind him if he were on tour. And there was I, think I wanNA say like a behind the scenes video to there is clearly a whole heck of a lot of promotion around the song last week. Yeah of lot going in because as you said, this was kind of the. Time to strike while the iron is hot. There's so much of the mental behind the song Harry of course, is the second member of one direction till end a number one on the hot one, hundred following Zane with pillow talk back in twenty sixteen. So Keith let's take a minute and talk about how watermelon sugar became his first number one single. Besides besides obviously, the things that we just laid out in terms of the airplay streams in in sales obviously because that was a huge driver last week, but it couldn't have got to number one without sort of hit in the first place is kind of overseeing sorry to. Interrupt. You know it's I. I was looking up this morning when this song actually came out Harry styles debuted watermelon sugar on Saturday night live on November sixteenth. Twenty. Nineteen. To give some perspective of what was going on. It it was released to the same weekend as the Charlie's angels. reboot. that. Feels like a million years ago. You look at this as an airplay hit. First of all, adore you which peaked at number six on hot one hundred still in the top twenty by the way. It seems to me that a door you really kind of opened the door for Harry at pop. Radio. Way And following a door you and success which hit number two on the radio songs chart legacy number six in the high one hundred. Sugar which had been around a while just started surging. As the latest single from fine. Line. Sugar debuted on the radio songs chart in mid June and then has jumped all the way to number two this week. And then as you know, this is the third week in a row that both watermelon sugar and adore you are in the top five at Rio songs. And I you know I think what we're saying is I think what we're saying Jason is that Harry Styles is incredibly popular on the radio this entire year which. Is Not entirely expected, but no a pleasant surprise. It's awesome. These songs have been huge on pop radio and I just anecdotally I hear them all the time and I have for months especially adore you and now more. So watermelon sugar anyway key. Yeah I've been writing a lot about song of the summer. We talked about it a lot. and. I think that's part of the reason why watermelon sugar has done so well, is that the timing really worked out they released the video in May and it's just become this big summer song by the way climbs thirteen to eight on the latest songs in the summer. Chart. It's making a last minute run for the crown. But I I mean two babies Rockstar has been number one for seven weeks. So I that seems unlikely to me seems unlikely. But yeah, it does seem like I mean especially when you pair it with the video, which is you know very bitchy and summary and it's breaking at just the right time to it's just firing on all cylinders seems like. Yeah and then meanwhile you have this artists in the middle of this storm that is you know a has. A total one, hundred percent approval rating just in terms of how adored he is no pun intended. He's obviously like has this hard to define cool factor. You know he's basically been letting the music do the talking, and now this is another huge accomplishment for

"In three two two over the New York Rangers Tom gave me this stat. And it leads to a question. I'm gonna ask both Tom and paulie on the other side of the glass, and then we go right back out to your telephone calls. One eight seven seven three three seven six six six six to one. The last time the Metropolitans had a player with over a hundred RBI is twenty ten David Wright, eight years without somebody getting to one hundred RBI is. So let me ask the two guys on the other side of the glass who were just going back and forth with Dominic Smith and Lonzo among those two has a better chance of getting one hundred RBI's before the other Alonzo or Dominic cement, it's Alonzo. Not even. Ali. I mean, listen judging on what you've seen is probably Lonzo. But if Dom Smith is up here for a month, and he has a month head start over lines zones. Probably Dominic and how about this one Alex Cora says Peter Lonzo might be the best hitter in Florida not for the Mets in Florida, obviously hyperbole, but still it shows you that this guy is a guy that people will fear something the Mets haven't had in a long time could change the culture of the line want that I want that. I want the fear, but everyone just wanting to give up on Dominic Smith right now at twenty three is absurd to me. It's absurd. Well, you could carry both. If the if the Mets, they probably will a flowery doesn't is not healthy. Correct. It's not healthy because the Mets are never healthy. Right. No, right. To the phones. Dave is calling from Komag. And yes, Dave dowries? I know I know how you are Stevie. I basically try to keep it in perspective because the oldest debates the imploded anytime the way things are going well earlier today, and they won't mention his name to protect the guilty. There was somebody who was really surmise saying that there is a very looking at the glass half empty that. There is a very good chance. The Icelanders will not make the post season. I brought I brought the comment from this individual up to Michael Carver who is on this tenth floor of three forty five Hudson street where wins, and we're WFAN and where the CBS sports radio network is located Michael Carver diehard Icelander fan. Since birth and thinks that it is absolute baloney hogwash that the Icelanders from anyone will not make the playoffs. He thinks not only will they make the playoffs. They're going to go further than round number one. Your comments day by comments are like I said the lawyer Reuben last night before I cut off because of the twenty twenty. Yes that. I don't think they're making it that in the first round. I think the island is are are basically a potential colossal failure. Because of the fact that right now that no discipline. No.
