Sorry folks, you need to upgrade phone every year now

"We may not like I'm going to say so let me just get it out. Get used to it. It's time to just keep your phones for a year that's it period. Upgrade every twelve months because as good as your old phone is upgrading makes a lot more economic sense. And why fight it apple Samsung and Google do such an amazing job. Every twelve months of convincing us why we need to ditch the old model for the new I say you just go with it. Now, there's many websites online that will buy your old phone from you and apple best buy in the wireless carriers play that game too or you could sell it yourself on Ebay or craigslist maybe make a little bit more money. But in order to get good dollars for the device, it needs to be the latest model. For instance declutter DOT COM, they'll pay four hundred and fifty nine dollars for last year's iphone eleven pro or five hundred dollars for the eleven pro Max. The models that initially sold for a thousand dollars in eleven hundred dollars. Now, apple promises to offer just about the same in trading credit four, hundred, fifty or five hundred dollars now granted your device has to be in good condition without a cracked screen and noticeable wear and tear apple insists that it turns on and functions normally all the buttons and cameras work. The body is free of dents and scratches, and at the touchscreen and back glass are undamaged good luck with that one. Now Apple, ask you to answer those questions online, and if they agree that you have indeed been truthful, you get the five hundred dollar credit or. Quote if your device does not match the condition you described, you'll receive a revised trade in. Value Unquote. Let's say apple only gives you four hundred dollars for a new phone and you nabbed thousand dollar iphone twelve pro for six hundred bucks plus tax, and you plan to trade it back twelve months from now your cost of ownership a dollar sixty, five a day. For a device that you will use every day all day for email texts, web serving facebook, posting tweets, paying for goods, stores, hailing an Uber or lift listening to music, watching movies and TV shows taking all those amazing photos and sharing them everywhere under the sun. Now the point is a dollar sixty five a day is that really minor purchase even when you do the math and expanded to eleven dollars and fifty five cents a weekly or fifty dollars monthly. Now, in Apple's new phone, you get stronger glassed it says is four times less likely to crack a camera that takes better photos in low light higher resolution video, a more powerful processing chip for spiff your performance, and as good as the eleven pro model is is just not as good. If you don't feel like selling I understand but hear me out because if you go back further in time you're older phones just aren't worth much. The tennis Max will get your three, hundred, seventy bucks the tennis three, hundred dollars the ten are two, fifty, the eight, plus two, ten, the eight, one, forty, and considering that these older phones have more years on them. The odds of them nabbing the amount of money that apple tout's is really remote. Now, just to confuse you even more the carriers have basically turned the corner and they're sort of offering free phones in deals again with that new two year or slightly longer contract, the iphone twelve is free with at and T.. Trade in thirty month commitment to paying sixty eight dollars and forty nine cents monthly for an unlimited plan. But I think that they'll stinks because you're on the hook for two thousand and fifty four dollars you're locked into a plan they could charge more than rivals and you'll have to pay a penalty to leave early. Trading Street to apple or selling to a use site makes a lot more sense financially. T mobile throws a hundred and fifty dollar gift card on top your trade-in. Once you sign up for service, which is good while verizon sells you the new phone on time fifteen dollars monthly for existing customers were ten dollars thirty seven cents monthly for new customers with a two year term on top of the trade in again, you'll pay a lot more for the phone this way. So a way better deal sign up for apple's credit card, which offers no interest monthly installments for the new phone over a two year period with a four hundred dollars traded on the iphone eleven pro you're looking at twenty dollars and seventy nine cents monthly. Now, that's a two year contract. You'll have to Weasel Anna in twelve months but apple says, you can do it and it ends up clocking in at sixty nine cents a day and you WanNa hold onto your old phone. Really.

Apple promotes redesigned iPad Air

"Couple of IPAD air four things. Yes. I got the sixty four gigabyte model so. I did look at the next model up you know and I consider style. You know what? It's like. Now, this thing I'm going to use this thing for like know web browsing video calling kind of second screen stuff. You know maybe reading reading a book I've I've done a thing before like I have an an. An E book. And I like read through it on the Elliptical. So that's before I plan on it and I also enjoy IPAD usage of watching movies on on the treadmill having that Beijing time I think I'll use this with fitness plus when it comes out because. The phones kind kinda small for that I've. I think so. I don't think suboxone bringing an IPOD and like and put it over a machine that you're using. Invasive. I'm yeah. Yeah. I have no plans to add three hundred dollar magic keyboard to choose a six hundred dollar. Same thing with the Pencil of a pencil is a wonderful a wonderful tool. It's really nice and how they work with the flat sided ipads. I've had both pencils and I've even made like my sticker pack years ago. The president's will cigarette packs easing the pencil like manipulate images. Of already, like it was a little bit is buying it of Lake Michigan Pencil to but no, I didn't do that and I've found that just having no writing on paper and everything is fine for me for that. So that's fine. Too Expensive really lie. True. If he was sixty bucks then I'd just like sixty bucks I'll use it our own but you know if they gave back down to ninety nine where the first one. Was Priced out like one twenty, nine for an for a style accessory is is it very nice so? That is a lot of money to spend accessory. And then I had a moment yesterday where of is having to think mentally like windows on the stuff come out and like what dates are the important dates and so just had to go through and like put them in the calendar is like this is a preorder date and this is a release date. And that made me realize Oh oh yeah. The pilot mini. The same time as a phone twelve many or pro Max. But it comes out of that Friday after the the next Monday after so. They said the week of that. Oh. Yeah might not be the Monday. So that's that's that's awesome

The iPad Air has a radical new design. But is it worth the hefty new price tag?

"You spent the last few days with the IPAD air. What do you think of this six hundred dollars? While at I thought is this is my favorite ipad of the lineup but that's because I like when something is a good value versus the top features and I feel like this kind of strikes that it reminds me of when the iphone ten are first came out. You know it was like the one that you like, Oh, it's stifled ten, but at a lower price. That being said, I'm very conscious of the fact that like in the past, the pro used used to have a few features that you really couldn't get another ads like pencil support or some keyboard stuff. That's no longer the case. So value I, keep looking back at the eighth Gen IPAD and what it brings to the table and while the IPAD air has USB. Fast looks just like an IPAD pro The IPAD Eighth Jen is basically the twenty nine IPAD air for less. Got It. Got It. So it's still the more basic, the older looking IPAD for you. Still the better bet I think. So now long-term better bet is relative because I also any get into this in the review of Apple's transitioning I, mean the MAC chips are going to be a in their in house stuff does that mean we're going to see mutation with Max and where even ipads go I don't know but in the year now the IPAD air is the at least built to the future with USB see But I think that the you know and also the newer accessories. But, the entry level IPAD. He could still get that pencil. You can still get a keyboard. And so I felt like it was fine. It's it's more ugly. It's not. It's not as great and an ipad in in overall feel but it's totally functional. It just the IPAD air is just nicer. eight using the word Nice but it is. It's a very slick. Beautiful little product well, dig a little deeper with that in terms of the highlights if if I am looking IPAD air like what are some of the features worth noting for this device, right? So the first thing you should know is what are using an IPAD for The IPADS are tween devices. Still they are doing a lot of stuff you could do on a laptop, but they still don't get all the way there. So there's frustrations if you're driving this as your main computer here, going GonNa find things for file storage multitasking, drive you crazy but the track pet support, which is available on all the IPADS. Now, all the recent ipads I love that, and it allows me to edit and work on an ipad a lot better so. That goes back to what you're saying on the IPAD air if you're using it because you wanna get something like the magic keyboard, which is three hundred dollars super expensive but the keyboard is really nice. Sure. That's a really nice package. It feels like a laptop and it also costs like a lap like an expensive laptop. It's like nine hundred, thousand dollars more. That, you're paying. So I I think. I think USB see is a huge advantage for dangles chargers in general compatibility I. Just think it's easier to shop for stuff with a really eight lightning. That still exists on modern apple products because I I think it's a hindrance. So I like that a lot and I think the display looks fantastic. It's good enough for multitasking and for other things, and that's kind of what you're using an IPAD for. It's like. Running to absent once writing a bit on it, watching videos on it. What else are you doing? Got The you made the note that this looks like an ipad pro. Essentially, what are the differences when you're weighing the decision between getting a step by pro verses? This what are you not getting this or what? What are the differences because they look almost same? They do and the use the same accessories. So which is also nice because apple's ipads don't always do that. Sometimes they subtly shifting body design. So you could use an eleven in Tripod Bro Accessory from twenty eighteen and it would still work like the keyboard cases and things. But I I think that the differences that's weird. You pay more for an IPAD pro but it's a device that came out back in March and has advantages, but also as a few drawbacks. So the advantages are. It has faster screen refresh rate the promotion, which is. Up to one twenty Erz which is nice and smooth, I mean the pro ipads are the only apple devices to have that. The, the iphones don't have that in the other ipads don't have that the display on the ipad pro is technically a tiny bit brighter but I didn't really notice it the IPAD pro as the lighter. De Scanning. which is really that's a niche thing but it is interesting if you are thinking about things like. mapping out a room and turning into a cad model or three D. Creation. You want to get involved in some of those tools at the iphone twelve pro as you could get it on the IPAD grow be can't get it on here. Cameras, are a little bit different at doesn't have face I D which I do face ID more on an IPAD iphone I feel like it logs in a little more smoothly. The touch ID side button is fine. data throughput his technically a little different it's it's it's a little bit slower on USB. See Five gigabits per second verses ten gigabits per second. There's quad speakers versus dualistic a lot of little things. But the dual speakers on the IPAD air are fine. So Those are the differences and you can tell it's like getting pretty fine. Fine hair-splitting. Microphones are better on the IPAD pro if you who's going to record using the built in microphones on an IPAD pro if you're a pro person, you know that's a weird subset. So that's like the long answer what you're saying basically, I don't miss the IPAD pro and the ipad pros performance it's faster and multitasking, but it's slower single tasking. which is also weird. So. You'd expect in a fourteen Z on the IPAD pro and rumors of many led. There's no lead I pad yet. But the that could come next year

Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be fully optimized for the Xbox Series X and S

"Halo the masterpiece collection is getting out of positions for xbox series x answers US Allesandro Barbosa at Gamespot with the launch of the xbox Jerry's ex answer is just around the corner Mexico's continually adding to its growing loser exclusives they'll be enhanced for its new consoles Halo. The question will be included to support for one, hundred, twenty, five per second and up to four. K.. It had a collection will receive an update on November seventeenth a week. After the console launch, they'll optimize the entire catalogue of hill classics. The capabilities of the new consoles that means one hundred twenty FBI support in both campaigns and multiplayer as well as four K support and additional split straight out traditions on the. Other although the tweet makes mentioned other capabilities, a series experts of the game. The update will be free, of course, include SMART, delivery program. The game also included an Xbox game pass on console and as well as game PA- XBOX game streaming on android. Brand have you have you partake in? This collection at some point. I haven't it's been on, you know a very long list of twos, but I able to probably won't come anytime soon but I do love Halo and I think it's awesome that they've continued to. You know obviously take their main mainstay franchise in keep it updated. You know when they remastered that content. Great but now In, lieu of being launched with xbox series snl it's going to be nice. Hopefully have this. The lean on an saw that hale marketing we see out there is. Kinda. True. They're they're really on Halo for like showing their new thing like when Was it three sixty backwards compatibility. Only worked with Halo One and two at first and then. And then like. Part of backwards apparently, this time around has been halo, and then again, this this as a smart delivery centerpiece, Halo a lot of sets. It is cool that led. They're like they're going forward. They're going like, Hey, let's do because I time they said like. Sony or Microsoft Says Floor One, hundred, twenty, five pm like. Yeah, sure. Rally that. There are actually gonNA show it like, Hey, this is what you actually do. Need the by two point one, four than cool. I'm glad that like they're doing that was something. Yeah. It's nice to have actually like a legit. You know salad multiplayer experience running hopefully at a consistent hundred and twenty. Frames and for you if you buy that new TV to be able to actually see that because I don't know what other multiplayer games shooters are going to be one twenty hertz at this point I don't know heard of any yet. I'm sure there will be some but I. Don't know that there. Well, showpiece I. Both platforms the fact is is fully optimized. It seems to be saying it will be one hundred twenty frames on both, but only be up to four K. on the series x little. There's like heavy details on this though by the way, the tweet zero, it pretty much just a tweet with some check marks and like wearily somebody else tweeted it like just before the exact same tweet, a couple of minutes beforehand. So myself set the league or something. Yeah, but is it is cool that doing this I don't expect most games. We'll do it in the future. I expect that like maybe some remastered here and there. But like we're not GONNA get one twenty F- on Mike? I would if we get a hundred twenty F- bs on. More. Than Twenty Retail Games I would be shot. In the whole generation. Yes. I don't think that'd be because I think that you're going to see people start the. Co optimize like because I. Feel like we're going back to what got me like a lot of hot water the last time I was on the show just reminded people that like, Hey, if you buy a three hundred dollar machine versus the five hundred dollar one, we'll you might want to be aware that it may not be as powerful as the five hundred dollar one that's always trying to say between the S. and the X. Right and there was just a slew of comments like Fran is an idiot and Get. It my point I, was trying to make was you'll see like this is up to four K.. It's awesome that you're going to see one hundred twenty optimize on an older game. But where I'm going with this I do think you'll see a new games that maybe on the the. Again I'm just speculating I'm not saying S is not capable depending on what they do, but it won't be as capable US how it works. Of course, not of course, I wouldn't people Nydia like. The processor is going to be better, which is the main thing, the frame rates, GonNa depend on and like to be clear what I'm saying like. Twenty Games. I mean like games built for this generation not like games that were from last whipping up right. When you say the process you better you're saying in the s any X, right? Yes both. Share the same process or Family. They do. Yeah. It's a slate under clocking. Yeah. It's just a few. You know point to hurts difference basically right but we're to finish the thought what I was saying is. I do think you will see what's get to the point where coastal lake to see where it's like Oh. Yeah it runs in. I'm just GONNA use the analogy like medium settings on the xbox series x and it'll be a hundred twenty I. think you'll see those opportunities almost certainly on the series x we'll. We see it as often on the S I don't know and I'm not knocking it for that I. do think it's incredible value. It is unbelievable value. I should actually say I've said it many times it's unreal that there's a three hundred hour console that is going to be as powerful. And Slick, as the seems to be. So

Review of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro

"What do you think of the iphone Twelve and twelve pro? They're pretty fantastic. They're amazing. The cliche is always to say it's the best iphone ever in these. Truly are I. Think there are some significant upgrades from the eleven and I think both twelve twelve pro show that I think for me the the. Weirdness but the hard thing to get your head around is house similar. The twelve twelve pro is and is at a bad thing and that's what I've been wrestling a lot with my review. I think the quick way I like to think about it is forget last year, forget the eleven and eleven pro and the three hundred dollar difference and the features, and if you think of the new lineup a little bit like the Mac lineup, the apple has whereas the twelve mini would be something like the macbook air and the twelfth pro would be like the macbook pro like the thirteen inch in twelve Max fifteen and I think the twelve is the macbook which has always been kind of a weird product for Apple. In the last like five or six years isn't it isn't the air a consumer thing I think that's where the twelfth false. That's an interesting comparison because a Mac Book I. Mean is basically been discontinued has always been kind of the you know the the lesser like it's the one that always gets the least attention right? Because if it was a product and it, it didn't it wasn't as cheap as macbook air and it wasn't as powerful as a pro do you source that as the issue with the twelve this year? I think the analogy holds up in a couple of those instances. I think it's it's definitely not as cheap as obviously the iphone mini and we can talk about prices second but also think as far as power Scott the fourteen as it's the same size, it's the same build. Aside from the stainless steel it is remarkably the same phone and etiquette people had them both in their hands I I mean I gravitate more towards the pro It's a little heavier. It feels more solid and at compare that more like I'm a camera person. So there's like these awesome cameras from Sunday called the as seven s three which are thousands of dollars. They're they're well-made they're solid cameras but then you hold something like Leica m the costs here nine thousand end the build is just another level I think the finish on the twelfth pro. You see earn it's thousand dollar price tag that makes sense to me. If, you think of the iphone twelve is conde affordable version of that foam. That makes sense. But this is not an iphone eleven replacement found I. think that's GonNa be the twelve mini

How Do I Balance My Financial Goals and Having a Life?

Ramsey Call of the Day

How Do I Balance My Financial Goals and Having a Life?

"John is with us in Atlanta. Georgia the start off this hour. Hey John. Welcome to the Dave Ramsey show. Hey Don Hey Chris how're you doing great man how can we help? so I have a little bit. Trying to figure this out mentally as well as math novelty I'm I'm in my mid thirties I have about two hundred and four thousand in my retirement not as job won't or should have but that's what I have right now. My base salary is one nineteen. What bonus up to one thirty, eight with my last batch of restricted stock units looking at about one fifty next year. God willing, of course. Good. So Is I really want to pay off the House that I'm living in I'm currently going through refinance right now from the thirty. Two a year. Conventional. And, I, WanNa have I wanna be completely free in the next three to four years preferably three. But I'm just trying to find a balance between retirement enjoying some the minded I'm also making but likewise paying off the house within their three to four year goal that I have. What did you say? Oh. Sorry. The house down is one, thirty nine and with the refinance been wrong in the cold and calls it comes up to one forty six. Hundred Forty six thousand. Okay. John, what's motivating you to attack pay off everything in the next three to four years. To be honest this whole situation and also just the general craziness with the economy I mean it's like pockets of positives and negatives I. Would I would sleep better and have peace of mind if I have seen nothing and no no nobody nothing basically. Okay, do you currently owe anyone anything else outside of this? House. So I paid off all Sumer. Death I did seventy five thousand and seventeen months about two two years ago who FPU. Wow. Okay. No other debts right now. Nothing zero style you have children. Children Okay all right, and did you and you said you're married, right I'm thinking. Okay. All right. Well. You don't have to talk anybody into how are you wanNA sacrifice you can just decide that. So. You can decide how much of your life you WanNa give up the only variables are formula are fixed in your situation. Are you've done a great job? You're in baby step four, fifteen percent of your income going into retirement. And then the only two things fighting for the rest of the money is mortgage reduction versus lifestyle. And you can decide that I don't care. English where does YOU WANT TO BE? But John I would rather you tap in on the internal and find that motivation not based on anything that's going on in the world. you're going to be more consistent in your value system in the thing that's driving you as opposed to what's happening out and how crazy the world is going to get. Okay. If we cash how restricted are the restricted stock options they best every few months. Okay you. Roll those into cash then. Okay. So basically, we have one hundred and fifty thousand dollar household income if everything's going like you've planned. And you're putting fifteen percent away into retirement. You have your emergency fund in place. You don't have any other bills and so I'm you what I'm going to sit down and run out three scenarios. I'M GONNA say if my spend. If I, pay off the house three years, that's fifty thousand dollars a year. For three years. Right. Okay. An out of my income that's forty eight forty, three, hundred dollars a month or whatever. It comes out forty two, hundred dollars a month. And Then I'm going to say all right. If I do that I've got that in my budget that leaves me X. for lifestyle. For. Fun. Then run the same thing out if you've paid off the house and four years, five years, maybe even six years. Maybe, maybe do three and five and six or three, five and seven and just look and say, okay, seven I get this much fun three I get this much fun which is less obviously and look at that and go. Okay. Now here's the here's the thing you none of this is a contract. So. Let's say you said Iron I'm going for the three year plan. Almost. No Fun. And you do you do one year of that and you go this sucks. I think I'm going for a little more fun and a new three year plan. That's right. After. You can adjust it if you want, it's your money and your calendar. Oh you're doing a great job buddy. You really are and you need to hear that and day, but you need to believe it. But what my point is this it for all US listening and for John is sometimes when I take these philosophies that are in my mind is like Ooh I got I got I have no life cycle for three years. We actually run the math out hundred and fifty thousand minus fifty thousand for paying off the house in three years minus fifteen percent you're single guy used to some pretty decent money left in their. You probably GonNa be like, okay. That doesn't sound like that big strain but you haven't really put money to it. You've just got it in your head math to it. You got in your head like this is GonNa be hard. That's true and Dave we're not even accounting for the fact that his income could is going to go up probably over the next. Three years. So again, John You find that internal motivation. I loved the three number scenarios of figuring out. Hey, what makes sense for you and the good thing is you can make the decision and remaking and change your mind. If you want to preserve that right because everything you're doing is in the smart column. So if you're not gonNA move outside the SMART, problem.

Nuthin But A 5G Thang

"We're going to start with yesterday's event that apple held apple unveiled four new versions of the iphone twelve including the mini, the pro, the pro Max. Tim Cook said, this is the beginning of a new era. and. This from an optic standpoint tim. This appeared to be very much about not just the new phones but five G.. The CEO Verizon Hans Berg. Joined Cook on stage from a safe social distance. What did you think of that will get into the the phones themselves in a second. But what did you think of the five G. Messaging that was coming out of apple yesterday? Oh, it was amazing messaging if only it were as accurate as the hype was making it out to be. I take it was. So my headline on this Chris is that this is an amazing announcement for a lot of people but not necessarily apple the five here's the problem with five G. News if you put cardboard in front of a millimeter wave five. Device, than that five G. Device is essentially it is stopped from doing any kind of five G. broadcasting the it's not that apple has done anything bad here it's that they're touting five G.. In a way that makes you believe that as long as you have a phone that says, five G, you're going to get five G. speeds. That's just frankly not true. The real thing that has to happen here. Is there has to be a massive bill out of the network. So Verizon being on stage. That's a good thing. Would it tells me is that very likely The first. The first network that's going to make your you know iphone twelve five G. compliant device work like an actual close to five G. device is probably going to be horizon although that's really going to depend on where you're located if you're in a big city like New York San. Francisco, odds are you're probably going to get that kind of connectivity a lot sooner but millimeter wave is a funky technology that we we could go under the hood on it and I'm not going to unless you ask me about it I have not. I didn't think so but the bottom line here is. If you're buying this phone because you believe it's going to give you five G. please don't. In terms of the phones themselves you know there have been events in the past where apple has come out in the fall they've unveiled the latest and greatest iphone. and to my untrained I sort of look at it and they're always new features. But I in the past, a lot of times I have. Looked at whatever is the newest version of the IPHONE and I thought to myself. Well, this is probably going to be something that the apple enthusiasts are going to rush out to buy right. That was not the case this time actually with the phones that they had I i. looked at the mini, which is the least expensive of them and I looked at that and I thought boy I bet I some people who are price conscious or just. Don't want a larger phone I think that is going to appeal to them, and then in terms of the pro and the pro. Max. I think that's going to appeal to media professionals. So I see this as I'm not saying that this is going to be the most successful. event. In terms of new sales yet but I see the targeting that they're doing and I think it could be particularly with the mini. I think you're right because here's the thing I have a what is it now four year old apple iphone se I think where this really wins for apple if it really wins but let's say you're right and I think you've got a I think you're thinking right about this. Chris Apple is betting on that I phone twelve many to be kind of like the upgrade path maybe skip a generation upgrade path for somebody who has like an. Se if they can get you into a six ninety nine phone from where you were at an iphone or let's say at like an iphone eight or even czar. They, win they win. They do not need to sell very many of these iphone twelve maxes, which is like it's got so many superlatives in it. It's like its own sporting event. mean, it really is. It's something but the mini is a is a really interesting device and didn't find it interesting that when you cut between. So you have the iphone twelve, you have the iphone twelve many and those are six, ninety, nine, hundred, ninety, nine. Then you have the iphone twelve pro and the iphone twelve pro Max and those there's one hundred dollars like nine, ninety nine. and. Ten, ninety nine. But what's interesting is there's three hundred dollar Delta between the two and it's not the five G. stuff. Basically, it's the screen and the camera, and so for the vast basically apple has told you is that our mainstream product is basically this many like just by the mini and we're going to be happy and you know who super happy about that Taiwan semiconductor. Because they're going to be making all of those chips this fourteen bionic they have just loaded up the other people who are the other one who's really happy about this sort of applauding in the background is Jensen Wong, this of invidia because he's looking at a forty billion dollar bet on arm chips and apple is the biggest producer of arm chips in the world. So you gotta figure he's backstage just like whooping it up because this is millions of new arm chips that are going to into those phones. Last thing, and then we'll move on. You know what we did not see yesterday from apple a foldable phoned Not, that I thought they were gonNA come out with a foldable phone I'd. I'm just I'm I've never really seen it with with what Samsung is trying to do there. But you know who knows what the new generation though would've definitely would have made Tim Cook's new generation comment valid. Absolutely.

Should You Boost Your Ads or Just Use the Ad Manager?

"Or super committed to your success online. We've worked with them to a special offer just remarking school listeners all you have to do is go to dream host dot com slash marking school to learn more and get your website online today. Welcome to another episode of Marketing School I'm Eric Su, and I'm Neil Patel and today we're GonNa talk about if you should be boosting your ads or just using the ad manager but I I think we should define Neil what does boosting ads or the ad manager mean on I'll start with boosting ads. So boosting ads is a button for facebook specifically and other platforms have added a very easy way to promote content. But in the past you'd have to go into ads. Manager Find Your peace maybe you're on their page to find what you want to promote, and they don't take a long time to start promoting it. Now, you can just hit a button. I'll call it easy mode for promoting her stuff and that's boosting odds. But when it comes to using ad manager but I was talking about earlier, you actually have to go into a separate section inside of facebook ads, and then you have to go into the AD managers and if you don't. Know how to use it it can actually be daunting. Let's say your small business owner. There is a little bit of a learning curve there. So to me boosting ads initially super simple to do ads manager is a little more complex question is which one should you be doing and I think I'll started off by saying look if you are a small business owner and you don't have a lot of time to learn things right now and you don't have the resources to. Hire someone full time for this just use boosts and boost around. Let's say I'm a bakery shop owner and I deliver like cakes you. Okay. So I would just boost around my area and then boost coupons things that I can do is try to drive people to be aware of Mike Cakes that you can order on delivery. Neil I would recommend is like Eric mentioned. If you have time, you can get Wimmer Granular ads manager and you get more advanced, which allows you tend. To get a better Roi while I tell people is most people aren't going to have the time their knees boost feature. When you click the boost feature, don't just accept the boost you need to adjust the settings and then go from there. So with the boost feature, you can end up selecting things like your region, your budgets and all these little settings and I would recommend that you go through them before you just click except I think a really smart thing you can. Do I started doing this recently is you know we are pumping out a lot of content like this, for example, and so you know whatever content I tend to like on market to my teams. Hey, let's go ahead and boost this and here's the framework. The framework is let's say we do a video might say, let's put ten dollars a day to it for the next three days. So that ends up being three hundred dollars. You can spend a dollar a day. Okay. So It can be thirty dollars but I spending ten dollars a day on it, and we only boosted to our middle of the funnel pages. So people that are perhaps visiting our case study pages or people that are visiting our services pages or have filled out a consultation for trailing for something, we're trying to get the more doctrinaire in our world. So let's say they don't end up converting but then for the next three days are getting all this content around marketing score leveling up. And for that money spent that actually does drive more leads and we've seen an uptick in Leeds as so oftentimes, you'll hear from people. Oh, I see videos everywhere or I listen to your podcast all the time. Right. You're trying to drive that type of we talk about being everywhere we talk about being on channel. This is an easy way to do it, and so I like boosting in that respect. Now for talking about conversion related things, you'd probably have to go down her. Dude I have barely ever seen conversions from boosting no matter what industry the point Neal's making to, as you should be aiming for reach and you want people to watch your stuff and

8th-Generation iPad: First Impressions

"The eighth generation IPAD may not be the sexiest new tablet on the block with the starring price of three, hundred, twenty, nine dollars. It might be the one you're most likely to buy. So Is it worth? I'm Roger Chang and this is your daily charge with me is our IPAD expert Scott Stein welcome Scott. So Scott we had you on right after that September apple than to show your impressions of all the announcements and the eighth Jan. ipad was not the most exciting product mentioned. You know we spent a little time talking about it but. You spent a few weeks with it. Has, your. Opinion Changed, are you what are you feeling about it now I think it's fine. I think it is not surprising IPAD. This is an IPAD that reminds me of last year's ipads because it practically is last year's ipads the the IPAD air twenty nineteen and the IPAD mini in two thousand nineteen had the same chip the IPAD air in this at the same Ram. It's basically that for less. There are some trade offs here that are tiny, but the IPAD air was more expensive. Now, that's now that's an all on the apple store. The IPAD mini is, but it's a tiny bump up in price. So you know three, hundred, twenty, nine dollars. This gets in at a much more affordable proposition, the the IPAD air that's coming. which is who knows when it probably in a couple of weeks is more expensive at starts at six hundred dollars. So it looks nicer. It looks like a less expensive pro. But I think when you're talking about almost doubling the price that. That really gets into a different territory for people. Yeah. Definitely. Anthony Twenty nine starting at three, twenty nine. It's obviously the most affordable option for someone looking for an IPAD. Ultimately for you who should be looking at this IPAD is primary option I. think if you just think of an I had something to have lying around check my email to look at shows to have one for your kid. This is that one if you don't care about step up bells and whistles, you don't want like a fancier toy. Not to call ipads toys I think they're very useful but I think that there is a point at which if you try to push an IPAD to become your everyday computer, you're going to have what you call pain points. You know you're going to have these difficulties that increase as you try to throw it out more. And I go to my laptop all the time because I need to. So that's the thing about the pro. He's got a lot of upsides that could be interesting, but you really have to map out whether that makes sense for you and if you WANNA think of it as like a fun thing for you but IPAD is totally perfect doing all that other stuff that being said. You know you got to bump up from the thirty two gigs of storage I think. That is too low an amount. For for what you'd be paying for this if you want it to last. Year's, and then you're talking about four twenty, nine Ri-, which slightly changes the equation a bit. He does you talked about our kids using this and a lot of kids obviously doing remote learning right now I've got a friend of mine who know he told me when he offered his kid a Mac, a choice between a Mac and ipad actually chose the IPAD. But isn't that really geared for remote learning for Education I think the older you get it's it's very nonsuited for it. You know we have a seven year old and eleven year old seven year old uses an ipad that we have around that. We use for remote learning it suitable. I think it's great. For eleven year old uses a chromebook and I think that's what you absolutely need for the types of. Work assignments you're doing your editing stuff, etc. Now ipads work with track pads, and so there's like on the entry level ipad they don't. It doesn't have this gets to accessories. Apple has beautiful but very expensive magic keyboard. That's like three hundred dollars. There are different accessories for this entry ipad. There's a Logitech Combo touch, which is still expensive one, hundred, fifty, dollar track pad keyboard I've been using with it. It's kind of like a surface with a kick stand. Type layout, but it's good for turning into a kind of a laptop but the point is that you can edit use a track pad. You'd be surprised at it can do more than you think, but some web apps some tools a google drive works well with it now but like some things don't. And you just don't know whether you get to that point where a problem especially with file storage file maintenance and chromebooks are weird too. But they're much more like web tool type based. Think the IPAD gets a little bit hotter with that. It, and then the I mean the big difference here as you said, it's identical lashes model. The big difference is the H. Wealth processor. How people differences that make you know I'm so used to seeing like. Standard. New I IPAD iphones. It doesn't feel particularly special, but I think it's necessary to get up to speed with. We're is going and we're going the processor was a couple of years old. It was feeling a little sluggish. They twelve is not like super zippy in comparison it's it's basically fine. It gets to the like very good fine point. So you know I could use an IPAD totally, but I think it's getting to the point where you might not be able to use it. So on the future and it gets to the point, I don't think you need to upgrade to this win -sarily. If you have an IPAD lying around, that's working fine you can probably keep using it. This is like you know between this last year's IPAD entry of like last year they did the. Works at Pencil works with the smart keyboard made the screen a bit bigger. It adds up to like one set of upgrades. But this thing still uses lightning. It still has a home button, the Basil's or kind of big. So for Split Screen APPs, it's not ideal. That's a the cameras a little less good than last year's IPAD air but that's not the problem. It's on the side ipad cameras on the side that kind of sucks because. You. Know if you're doing zooms and things like that your faces off center and I have not really sell for that and they should but I don't know how long it's GonNa take for an ipad to have a side. Mounted. Camera. To address this. So just F Y that's another thing now that we're doing everything over zooms in remote,

Cheap TVs for under $300

"For under three hundred dollars. Now I'm Jefferson Graham Ula Santa talking. Tech. If you were to walk into a target best buy or some other big box retailer and you really can't miss them the rows of those large forty, three inch and fifty insets selling for two and a quarter to three hundred dollars. Four K. with built in Roku? SMART TD. Two hundred and twenty five dollars you gotta be kidding me. Well, the sets are usually made by TCL, which has three of the top five on Amazon's TV. Bestseller list or insignia, which is best buys house brand. It has the other two spots on the Amazon Chart, and again, both of them have four K. resolution built in smart TV streaming, and they can showcase programming and HDR which stands for high dynamic range producing brighter richer colors. The best buy sets answer to Alexa while the TCL sets will answer to Alexa or the Google Assistant. So what's the catch? It's minor and it's obvious. The picture quality is not as good as the mid range and more expensive TV's. But I would argue that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Now if you're sitting right in front of the TV, it's going to look amazing if you're on the left or the right for the far. Away. To look good unless you spend a grand most people don't WanNa, spend a grand they want to spend three hundred dollars that built in streaming player is quite the deal it sounds small, but it's huge. Now, the old way spent twenty five dollars to a hundred dollars for a Roku or Amazon Fire TV stick and connected to an open hd mice slot on the back of the TV. Put Batteries in the road control put the streaming remote control next to the TV remote control. Turn the TV on ADJUSTER HD my settings to streaming. Then pick up the streaming remote access and control the menu. Now the new way

Why a dedicated Zoom device makes sense

"You'll recall that earlier this week I had a lot of fun with that new Microsoft Eighty, five inch dedicated device for teams meetings. It's only twenty two thousand dollars little much for my budget I. Don't know about you but it's been a week for dedicated video meeting devices after that Microsoft announcement though I gotTa love, Amazon's answer which came later in the week, a dedicated ten inch unit for two hundred, fifty dollars the echo show ten, which lets you go through Alexa to connect to zoom skype or Alexa to Alexa direct calls two hundred and fifty dollars. Twenty two, thousand dollars I think I'll take the cheaper one Alex, thank you. I think these dedicated devices when they're priced, right make a lot of sense i. mean think of the kids were stuck at home taking school on their laptops. Now, they could have one more unit just displaying the teacher and lessons which would give their hands free for schoolwork and no taking on the laptop make sense for those of you who are taking meetings all day. The same issue applies isn't it hard to take notes when your laptop screen is filled with Speaker video windows. Plus this way you wouldn't have to worry Webcam placement after all his best to be at eye level which most people ignore and not have the Webcam looking up your Chin that requires putting the laptop atop of a bunch of books which gives you a better look, but it makes it really hard to type. So the savvy speaker or student would have to constantly move the books around that dedicated service on the desk would solve the issue living atop the. Books that could just stay there and not have to be moved around. So Amazon has the echo show ten, which will be out later this year it'll let you connect the Webcam to the TV via the hundred and twenty dollar fired TB Cube device. So so maybe it won't be watching eighty five inches how about fifty or sixty sounds pretty good p particularly when you consider that you can buy a good fifty inch these days for about three hundred dollars. Now, the Amazon solutions won't be available until later this year. But if you have a facebook portal video chat device, you can use the dedicated unit now to connect to zoom because the update started rolling out today. The portal started one, hundred, twenty, nine dollars, and they're available in three sizes at eight, inch, ten inch or fifteen point, six inch. The addition that connects the TV which is called. Portal. TV is not yet supported for the zoom calls meanwhile, that's not all folks next week on Wednesday Google holds its annual fall hardware product event where it's expected to unveil a new top of the line smartphone and updated streaming device and a new take on the nest home hub video display unit last year's nest. Didn't work with zoom or initially even with Google's meat though it does now but not zoom zooms coming later, and I know I can pretty much rest assured that the new Google video display unit we'll be working with zoom and hopefully working well

Talking Apple's announcements with Phandroid, Nick Gray

"I get the irony of having the editor in chief of Android come on to talk about the apple event. Hey I watched it and let's do this. Okay. I'm not an apple fan boy I can still appreciate good products right? Same same. I used to work in android authority and every time every time I put out a even the slightest thing about an iphone thought that I was a traitor and I was like guys like. I'm allowed to carry more than one phone at any time. So here's the thing. First of all got to give the UPS to help apple. Granted, they have the backing of their partners like Pixar, for example, to make what is a very good looking presentation as far as the quarantine level. Kovin affected trade shows and events and tech shows are concerned I. You know you could. You could expect apple to put put on a good show. It was pretty good granted like with any apple event I kind of not really does off but obviously, like eventually they get into the weeds with their products and you just kind of like okay. Cool. You're you're updating all the IPADS. Dating. All of the Appalachians and whatnot but the whole fact that an iphone twelve was not part of this were you surprised I know people were people were not I was not surprised based off of they set in their last earnings call that the IPHONE would not be coming until. October. So I'll look I mean they they clearly said it wasn't coming and a lot of people seem to have missed that or forgot that Nah and they didn't even they even sent out a reminder once once the event was announced. That no he said the IPHONES. Not Coming till October. and so a lot of people kinda miss that and so that was the speculation of what are they going to announce for a lot of people because some people knew that they weren't announcing the new iphone. So when they sent out the invitation with that weird, it was the apple logo but. Yeah like circling and Tom Whatever I mean. We were speculating that a new apple watch was going to be coming and likely some IPAD information So yeah, I mean that's basically it will. We got the new IPADS and. The. New Apple Watch is because now we have what is the series six is the new one and then the Apple Watch s e. so just like the iphone se we have an apple watch se which is A. I don't WanNa say dumbed down version of the watch because. It's still an incredible piece of Gadgetry but it doesn't have some of the sensors that the main watch has making it useful for somebody who's wanting an apple watch for all of the health and fitness benefits that you can track with the device, but it's probably something more geared towards. A cheaper watch for you know your kids are family members who may not be into fitness tracking you know I would even argue like I agree with you there, but I would even add on top of that. When you put the letters s e on anything apple. I get interested. Like I'll just speak from personal experience because like. If I were to choose if I have no other like knowing that I have other things like my own cameras and my own gaming consoles and stuff like that. If my smartphone was not the center of my universe, then something like a pixel for a which literally I you and and or an iphone se those were the perfect choices for me like I'm actually into. dumbing not dumbing down, you said dumbing down but like slimming my smartphone experience for a better price and they're doing it with smart watches and your Indiapol- ecosystem. I'm actually kind of impressed. Yeah. It is a very, very impressive device and it comes with and Lt version as well which pairs with their new family, what they call it the family sink plan now. Now, you do not need to have it's not a one to one match between a a watch and a smartphone you can connect multiple watches to a single smartphone. So that, you can get on Apple Watch for your children. And also your aging parents so that you can have location tracking and communications with them and fall detection and accident detection. Features built in and pair that with a single device rather than having to have multiple iphones in order to pair that with which makes the Apple Watch. Probably, the first gadget that most parents are going to buy for their children that are not smartphone age ready yet. Yeah. Indeed, and because there's this huge marquette of children friendly watches that are connected that they can make phone calls that they came message their parents or a select small group of people and individuals, and most of those costs. One, hundred, ninety, nine to three, hundred dollars, and all of them have to be paired with a ten dollars a month service plan through your carrier. And just to be clear, the pairing of these devices must be paired with the L. T. E. or this the connected version not just the WIFI version. Yeah, Mindy. So you do have that little bit extra and you do have that monthly subscription that you're gonNA have to pony up for yeah,

It's been a while since I've done magic been too busy. It has been a busy time. Why don't we start with apple since you've got your hands on repression on some of these out this morning let's start with the eighth Jan IPAD, which essentially it's the same device probably a little bit faster low smarter for three hundred, twenty, nine bucks. So what what is of? Note, the new Eighth Gen IPAD. Well, the one thing that's interesting is everyone's waiting seemingly for the IPAD air, which is the fancier looking wine that's coming in October, which apple does sometimes they stagger the releases and the good news is that the Eighth Gen pad is basically the twenty nineteen ipad air. The one that last year was the middle ipad had an eight twelve processor. Processor is in the eighth bad. Now, if you can keep track of all that so just means that you're getting a really good IPAD for pretty low price. Everything else about it is the same there's not much to save their. It uses the I Jin Apple ipad accessories. So uses the old pencil that sticks in the lightning port and it uses older keyboard cases not the keyboard such a little frustrating and has lightning instead of USB. But I mean. Whatever it's a very, very solid product just did my toes and using it But I think it really the fact that I was recommending the IPAD air a few months ago as the go-to one, the old one. Makes me really recommend this one now and we'll see how the IPAD air fancier one does. But that starts at six hundred dollars it's not cheap. So I think it'll be interesting to see whether that feels. Yeah. It was breakdown the IPAD air because that is you have it yet it doesn't come out until October. This is it runs on this eight, fourteen chip. I think there's some confusion about whether or not. This was actually faster than the IPAD pro is this. Pro. Ron Eight twelve Z and if you just looking from numbers, you're like well. Fourteen is better than twelve, right. So what are some context here? It's two digits higher. This sounds very promising, but then you've got a letter on the other one. It's totally confusing like apple has not really clarified it too much. Technically, it sounds like based on their their wording on this. The IPAD PRO is still the fastest ipad and the the thing about the X. chips is they had a lot more cores in graphics. So they're they're beefed up on the kind of the back end, and that could definitely make a difference The fourteen is a totally new chip like apple usually they put that on the next on and they most likely will. But now it's I on the IPAD air, and for all we know the air is GonNa come out at the same time the iphones we don't even know I mean, it's October released. So the IPAD air per-performance as a total unknown, it's supposed to be faster than the twelve, but that's not a surprise. It would not surprise me that some of the graphics video stuff might still be better on the. IPAD pro. But that one was not really a big performance bump this year over the twenty eighteen model. So Shrug so. Once price because you mentioned it's one hundred dollars more than last year's model. Does that change the calculation for that? That air like is this now is this too expensive six hundred dollars is not cheap and I think that it depends if you're thinking about getting an ipad pro and then you go oh, this one's a little less that sounds great. Sure it is but it is not cheap ipad scenes and you know really how much you GonNa Pylon to it the accessories start getting really expensive in any any of these things the more you start using them. You probably want the Pencil, which is a hundred dollars, hundred something dollars you probably WanNa keyboard case, the magic keyboard is. Basically. Three hundred dollars. You know it's it's you're pushing thousand dollars for the configuration with also with storage because the IPAD air starts with sixty four gigs of storage. Is. Borderline passable but it's not if you're going to be using this for any serious stuff and it's not upgradable. So and that's the same thing for the entry level IPAD three thousand nine is kind of a phantom price. That's a thirty two gig of storage. I would definitely say get the four, twenty, nine with one, twenty, eight. Because thirty two gigabytes you're going to run out of space like instantly. So I think that's just one of those things that gets you in the door and then suddenly you're paying more so I do think apple incrementally does price games all the time that these things I think that. It's going to seem nice for the air if you were considering getting a pro.

What were expecting in the PS5 showcase

"So Sony Holding this PS five showcase on Wednesday a week after Microsoft held its own xbox event. So Oscar, what are you expecting? Are we finally going to get a price that is de definite? Expectation with this show, there is obviously the big questions. When's it coming out and the price? So yeah. Those are the two. Obviously there's GonNa be some info about the launch games but yes, with this presentation, this is going reveal all it's gonna lay everything down and skin say here's what it is and get ready. So what are you expecting pricewise? Right now, the expectation is the. to a, there's a digital version of the PS five with no OPCO drive and the sort of standard version with the optical drives so. For the standard version, which should have all the bills whistle. So to speak that were pretty much were all expecting a five hundred dollar price points for the digital version were looking more like four hundred the really the only difference between the two the optical drives so far that we know unless soda comes out and make some other changes. But consider there's not much difference. We don't expect with go below the three ninety, nine 'cause w really big cut. into the into some profits, got it, and so let's let's stack this up against Microsoft which announced its own pricing last week. What are the xbox series X. and series s cost? Well, that was a big surprise last week it was a it was leaked initially than my Marquesa finally confirmed that yes, there is GonNa be to xboxes the S previously codename De la Carte is to ninety nine. That was the big reveal edit is a very big reveal. The KONTOS haven't been to ninety nine in quite a few generations and for Gen Gaming. It's Really a low price and every the ideal the strategy behind it is what we're thinking. Yourself said, Hey, not going to undercut us again like they did with the playstation forward. So we're just GONNA go right in with this three hundred dollar council. It's going to have next Gen graphics but does have an optical drive. has half the hard drive space and a can't perform get render as good. A graphics as the standard version would just five hundred dollars. So that is what? Microsoft with the big enough to saying, Hey, we got you covered if you need save money or if you want all the bells and whistles, you go for the five hundred dollars and they're both coming out November. Right and that that money equation I mean it's more important ever right now, right we were in the middle pandemic when the middle of a recession with millions of people are jobs money is tight. All around is a lot of uncertainty. So I get I appreciate that Microsoft would factor that into the equation with the pricing that said You know there, there are some drawbacks of the series s I'm curious with with some of those pricing in place and I know we don't yet have Sony yet confirmed but. The equation for you on which console you should buy or if you should buy any of these consoles this holiday season. It always comes down to the Games. That's really what is important. But What's interesting is Marcus Like I said in the previous previous podcast. They are shooting to be this all encompassing services service package so They want to the big. You're GONNA push when starts September twenty seconds. So the big thing they're gonNA push is this xbox all access, which is for the s twenty, five dollars a month you get the ultimate game pass. which includes Xbox live in game pass and the you get that and the series s for twenty five dollars a month for two years, which is a pretty crazy deal because. The Game Password. That launches. Officially. A It's it's tech lean. Beta will let me it's kind of the. kind of kind of fish lead launched not really kinda sort of we up doing it but with game pastors but hundred hundred, fifty games. So right at the box, if you do this process with the Xbox L. Access, you're GONNA get the game you're going to get you're GonNa get all these Games get the console twenty five dollars a month. And that's it. So and then if you WANNA go to step up that's that's thirty five dollars a month. So it's not a big deal.

"You called sooner. How can I help? Anyway. So my soon to be wife, and I are getting married and exactly sixty days. And so have you know, you know, the major question she her parents retired from me or her father retired from Neath on and along with Nissan. They have. I guess a benefits plan with where you get a new car every seven months. Yeah. And you pay a very cheaper rate every month. Always almost nothing, and they provide maintenance and tires and gas and oil and everything. Yes, sir. Yeah. It's wonderful benefit. Yes. So I mean right now with a Nissan Altima, a brand new one, it'd be no money down. And I think we have to pay about two hundred bucks a month. Plus the insurance at the Nissan offers which is around one hundred dollars a month. So in total, it'd be about three hundred bucks a month. You cannot you cannot. But the three hundred dollars includes it, it includes gas, even doesn't it. No, not not so much the gas and all maintenance though. Yes, sir. Every day and she's eligible for this. As the daughter the grown Mary daughter of a retiree. You know? That's that's the the minute details that will have to work out. But as of now, I've asked that question to to her father, and it seems like. As the owner of not the owner of the car, but the owner of the benefit rights permission to the daughter to to drive the car is your primary vehicle. Okay. If you can get that. And you can do it with integrity and do it legally. It is an awesome deal. Okay. All right. Very good. This is not leasing a car from your car dealership, which is not an awesome deal. It's a ripoff. But this is a this is a benefit for an employee of a car manufacturer. And it is a wonderful benefit. Yes, sir. Because you cannot operate a car this cheaply. Chorus going down in value more than you're paying for it every month. Yes. Not to mention all the fact that you're, you know, you're driving it for free in other words. Yeah. And it's just it's it's not a lease. It's an employee benefit. It's a rental agreement. That is discounted by about ninety percent. Everything that's offered. There would be about a thousand bucks a year. If you just went in the open market and said, I'm going to finance this car. I'm going to do this. I'm going to take care of my own tires. I'm gonna put the oil. I'm going to do all the maintenance I'm gonna pay for everything and you bought that car. It'd probably be a thousand dollars a month. Without a doubt. Without a doubt. I got real nervous thinking about that. Because you know, she does have some student loans. And now this is not. Yeah. This is cheaper than you can drive a used car. Yeah. Definitely one hundred percent. Okay. So this is a deal, regardless of where you are in the baby steps this helps you build wealth because you have a not only have a really nice vehicle, but aside from that, you have an a very inexpensive piece of transportation. Yes, sir. It's a deal. Do it. Thank you very much. Congratulations on your marriage. Very cool. Open phones at triple eight eight to five five two two five. Rachel is in Boise, Idaho. I Rachel what's up. Hi, dave. How are you better than I deserve? How can I help? Oh on super nervous. Well, we've never lost a patient. Hang on. How can I help? Okay. So long story short. We are on number two. And we just did that every dollar by a couple of days ago and down as. On my husband allocated every penny. We have coming in. And we're very excited to get rolling. But my mom is disabled. She broke about eighteen years ago at work. And he lives off of disability and social security, and we moved in to help her out not financially, but physically she can't drive. She can't Alon so on so forth. Well, she has brought to the table that she has some equity in the home, and she's willing to sell her home get it out of her name, and she wants knock you and I to buy a home where she would provide all of the money to pay off all of our debt and the down payment. She's definitely afraid that if something happens to her her only asset is the home and equity, and he's. Security and Medicare and L essentially, take it. Oh, my question to you is that something that we should take and take a gift from her. And I mean, it's kind of like her thank you for taking care of her. Because she are you the only air. No, my brother, I have a better and the original deal when she got the house that we're currently living in he was actually on the home. And this deal was presented to him and everybody has crazy in their family. We'll just say that. It didn't work out. And so he refinance got the name got the house out of his name. He moved out, and we moved in is essentially how that worked out. And so now, we're living do this deal. He's going to be mad the rest of his life. It was a deal that he was aware of that, you know. But you got you got all the money from her state. It's nothing right. Right. Right. You guys just need to think through that part of it. Because this is everything's still kind of up in the air right now. I mean, there's chances for reconciliation there's everything else. But when you do this you put a nail that you put an eye on this relationship. It is over. Red. He's not gonna talk to her anymore. He's not gonna talk to you anymore ever. Right. If that's may be the cost. I mean, I'm not positive, but that might be the cost, and that's one of the things to consider here. This is not just a mathematical transaction now if we're doing that. If we're gonna go ahead. How old is she? See? Be fifty nine in December. And so you're willing to do this for twenty more years. Yeah. Absolutely. You're committing to that. I mean 'cause she she live. She live to seventy nine pretty easy. Yeah. We have a solid we have a solid relationship. You're how long you're how old. Twenty nine. Okay. So you're gonna be forty nine and be taking care of your mom. Okay. All right. I'm okay with that. It's wonderful that you're willing to do that. But I just want you to count the cost here because what happens in a situation like this is brother, and you taking care of mom, the weight of.

"Three hundred dollars for cleanup, replacing tables, and grills and reimbursing and rescheduling a birthday party set for the pavilion later that morning. It only took the Sarasota county sheriff's office a few days to track down and arrest Heather carpenter. The forty two year old is charged with felony criminal mischief turns out carpenter as a substitute teacher at Phillipi shores elementary school, according to arrest paperwork, carpenter wasn't happy with how the principal handled a professional complaints. She made at the end of November the Sarasota woman admitted to investigators she smeared the feces with the goal of spoiling the birthday party planned at the park that day celebration was for the principal's. Daughter officials say carpenter is no longer a substitute and kept volunteer at any district schools. Well, this investigation is active. You think? Heather was with the the the the sugar Honey, iced teas okay now. I have a homeboy who shall remain nameless. Who used to have a real problem beaten people up so he would anger management as part of his probation for beating people up. So whenever he wanted to beat people up instead he would resort to fighting with feces. What is crazy? I didn't see him. What I mean by that is if you had a beef. Beef with someone he would cut your car seat open and put Dingle berries in the cushions are. He might go on your house and put a couple of chocolate delights in your sneakers. I remember he had an issue with his next door neighbor in the next door neighbor's roommate, you know, let him in the house. So my guy put but truffles in the Naples couch cushions what's trefoil third. Never understood. Why the roommate was down with that? Because he had to live there too. All right. The moral of the story is is just some real live turn terrorists out here and have the carpenters clearly wanted him. My thing is heavy. You got beef with the principal? Why are we attacking the Keats because that's essentially what you were doing about spreading, but mud all over the picnic tables and grills that this part. None of the adults are going to be affected by these rusty nuggets. I mean, sure you put some rectum warriors on the grill. So that means everybody's burger would end up getting forty babies on them. And and pick it up never asked to do with human feces could have been dogged pieces. I don't know what kind of feces. It was scary. Okay. You know, what I'm assuming was just assuming his hers. Pick it up you go into tall saying you got to go to a prison. You know what I'm saying? And that's your weapon of choice. You always got some on deck. Oh. And I encourage you to spend when in doubt, spend less rather than more and. Prefer that my net. A good question is to stainless steel interior over the plastic. I would go with plastic. Save the money. Really? Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, come on who are you asking? You're asking cheap guy. You think I'm gonna say. Oh, yeah. Go with the fancy interior on the dishwasher. It's like my thing with washers and dryers. I just don't get. Why people want the fancy washer and the fancy dryer. You know to to wash and dry your clothes and towels and stuff so. You know, you can go the consumer reports route and see the dishwashers that they've found to be the best and you can pay all different price points doing that. But as far as buying the dishwasher that you're buying right now. Rather than spend a bunch of dollars. You didn't get reliability out of spending a lot of money on one. Why don't you buy one? That's got good. At least good purchaser reviews and is cheap. I've been racking my brains on the distant sites, you know, best buys polos etcetera trying to figure that out. You know, you're gonna have pros and cons at all. And I have that conceal report. And my husband make it. I think I know what I want. Then he confuses me worse. Right. Well, I think I think the way you solve confusion is spend less. Okay. I mean think about it. If you buy it for one hundred and ninety five dollars and the thing Croke out of warranty. Think about what one repair visit is for a dishwasher. Yes. So that's me. I'm like, but I'm a bad one to ask. Because as I've always said, I'll accept lower quality for a lower price on anything except premium ice cream. That's life. You just can't compromise. And for me, it's ice cream. But on a dishwasher. So seatbelt Distasi pill inside myself, and it didn't work out, and I'm actually not going to get into that in detail, but it didn't work out. And there's a little offer tension inside you also now now I don't like seatbelt. And that's my personal thing was seat though. So I hope when you're driving home today, if you're driving now, you're gonna unbuckle that seat belt. That is so interesting. So what the wheel landed on was seat Bill. I don't even remember that being on the wheel. I suggested a Tam. I totally forgot. But she's right about some. I like thought about a lot of thought about before is a triangle triangle, I didn't know that you guys had like history. Yeah. But that I I mean, and you easily have said like, hey, you know, that one you couldn't even stop the show that one's a little bit like. Like a little bit weird. Well, ended today. Listen, I did know that there was awkward tension inside the U haul. And I did know that tesla costs three hundred dollars. But I had never heard that in this context. Yes. It was kind of a new frame for an old painting. Well, it makes sometimes it's yes, it's interesting. Sometimes there's things that you know, but you've never really thought about. Yeah. And so to be challenged and that way just in terms of seat belt. Was pretty wild. Woods all about like. The like taking paradigm and just like smashing. That's all okay. Okay. Spin the wheel. Shod again. Okay. Well, this'll be quick get it on their way. Do karaoke. That's been..

"There are a lot of credit card interest with that. If that's not paid on the mower side, and kind of more average or kind of the national average you end up at close to three hundred dollars in just a shopping increase that's fairly manageable. I think for most people so there are lots of differences. You do see a little bit of an uptick in travel that that kind of evens out because you know, people are traveling a lot these days and flights like it or not sleep are getting smaller. But at least the fares are not increasing. So so that doesn't seem to be a problem category for sure, and I'm curious what is the value of knowing where your peer groups stand in these certain categories. How could you use that information really powerfully to better your own situ? Nation. I mean, this goes back a little bit too about how we hack our mind. And there's been a ton of research done on what peer comparison motivate people to do in different walks of life. For example. There was a study if you years ago about hotels asking people to reuse, how will and and you know, to help save water and the environment to some degree and most people just completely ignored him. But the most powerful message that they tried to say, you know, ninety five percent of the people who stayed in this room in this room. We use their towel twice. And all of a sudden, you had a massive uptick in people using their towel similarly in in the energy area. You have some utility company sending people, you know, flyers including take ones in into their Bill saying, hey, you should try to conserve more energy. I it'll. Help the environment..

"Three hundred dollars a month, and that was enticing. You know, here we are paying in Europe, you know, five, six, seven, eight dollars a gallon or you know, and he's talking about a free car at one point, even said to, you know, a auto manufacturer, you know, based on the fact that I'm going to be selling these cars for free. You better take all your cars just off off your books because you're not going to sell anything. Yes. So when he started out Brian in the two thousand eight time line and came, I was running grade wise alliance at that point, which is a smart organization, and they came to us and describe what they were doing. And this notion that Don was talking about virtual power plants which are now happening on this whole concept of smart grit and making sure that you could manage vis so that it would actually make the system better. That was all very intriguing, but one of the things I just could not get my head around was this battery swapping cont concept because it just. It seemed so capital intensive. So talk a little bit about how that how he could not get off of that idea. I mean that that was such a key piece of what he was trying to sell in two thousand twelve when the car was just being launched, shy, took off on a road trip around Israel. The switching stations were not all open, but many of them were and he started his home near Tel-Aviv and he drove north to Haifa. And then he drove a little bit east towards the Golan Heights very close to to where series, you know and we're all the the action is going on right now. And then he drove south all the way past Jerusalem, the Dead Sea to a lot. And then he drove back north and he did this entire trip which was over a thousand kilometers in the course of one day switching batteries all the way, and he tweeted the entire way, taking pictures up and down the country. And it was an exciting moment because it demonstrated that this vision of this capital intensive switching network that it works. And and there was no other way for him to do this crazy is crazy trip of thousand kilometers in a day. Other than switching batteries. He could never have plugged in even if he had a fast charge in the Renault fluence were not fast charged capable. So they took six to seven hours to fill up from zero to, you know, whatever it is. They were gonna fill. By the time we launched, they got about one hundred twenty to one hundred and forty kilometers to the to to charge, but you even if it was forty five minutes to an hour to fill up if you had to swap seven eight times over the course of this thousand kilometer trip, it wouldn't have happened. So you know, he, he loved the idea because it made sense, especially made sense in what we call island countries. Okay. What's an island country that's a country where you can't really drive far out of the boundaries of the country. So an island like Denmark was was was a good Denmark is connected to Germany, but you know, you. Have a lot of water around Denmark. Israel is an island because you're surrounded by the Mediterranean on one side, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, none of which have open borders. So you have an enclosed space. You can put the switch days as you can get anywhere. He loved the idea. And the truth is I love the idea to because I could go anywhere it. It made sense. Even though as you're about to ask the next question is how much of the station's cost and and how much capital did it did it burn up and the answer is a lot. A good story doesn't create a good business necessarily. And so the the swapping stations cost, many millions of dollars. I think three million dollars and they had assume that they were gonna cost, maybe a half a million dollars. It was very difficult to secure partnerships with automakers. Ghazi would go into meetings feeling like they should be scrambling to to be working with better place, and they returned off by. His pugnacious approach. You know, there were things down to the smallest screws in the swapping stations that were way more expensive than they thought that design the engineering, the fixes to the swapping stations. Basically all the real stuff that has to happen as a company kinda took better place by surprise..

"The theft of three hundred dollars worth of marijuana and it appears that the one boy was lord out to lor out his friend because apparently they were blaming the friend for the theft so when he refused to give up his friend they killed him and then a few weeks later they caught up with the one that they were trying to get the first time so that i'll say all along i had been here 'ring rumors along those lines but to find out that the rumors were reality was really a sad ending to that story it's gotta be sort of a little bit sold draining to keep hearing about these missing people that you know there's no end to this you're never gonna run out of content now and that's the thing it never ends in it's i get so many requests through my website people ask me a lot if i feel stressed by working with the families if that stressful to me and it's not necessarily stressful to me working with them what stressful to me is trying to get to as many people as i can as quickly as i can cause some people feel very desperate especially with the more recent cases they're very very desperate initially for answers and when they're not getting any kind of response from the media and the police sometimes aren't acting on tips or leads if it can be very very difficult so how has your audience responded to the vantage the feedback has been mostly positive and one thing that i really appreciate seeing from the audience is that many of the families that i talked to they run like facebook pages for their missing of one so it'll be a place where they share information and sometimes they get leads through messenger on the facebook page so what i try to do is include that information at the end of each episode and also in the show notes so people can follow on social media and a lot of listeners do and they go out and i often see them offering to help in any way that they can or even just telling the person who was all my show that they're story retouched them in this way or that way or inspired them i always like to see that it just kind of restores my faith in humanity but also i get a lot of messages from people who say to me things like i struggled with addiction or my sister my brother and i really appreciate that you covered this person or anything along those lines because there is so much that we as humans struggle with that isn't really spoken about all the time and so a lot of these these things go on said and people you know go about their day and and keep that inside but to hear someone going through something similar that you've been through seems to really hit people in an emotional place and i have found that putting that emotion into the show is really effective and it makes the story stick with people longer and they're more willing to go out and help or go out and help with the search send a letter to the detective or send a letter to the da's office anything like that and i've seen a lot of positive response and it's not always directed toward me and that's fine i really appreciate people take the time to say something nice to the person who took their time to tell their very difficult story on my show now that leads me to another question because your audience is very respectful much like yourself weirdly so to to degree because the true crime spaces full of people that are little little nutty sometimes we did a whole episode on the web sleuths phenomenon where some people think they're amateur detectives and try to.
