"Should be able to get alone. I don't really quite understand why. Because as I mentioned before the obligations that they would undertake so you're borrowing from the Bank or credit union or ineffective. Federally guaranteed. Komo's Andy Field joins us on the KOMO news line with more on this. And Andy a lot of criticism today from Democrats and Republicans calling Ross who's a multimillionaire used to be a billionaire tone death to the hardships of Americans. But he was trying to then later in the day clarify his comments. Well, he was, but you know, it's very hard for administration officials to answer the question. Why are you doing something for these folks are hurting because even the president will deflected by saying? Well, these folks know that what I'm doing is right for the border, and they support me with virtually no evidence that any poll or or survey backs president up on that do Wilbur Ross also said that almost dismissed the fact that eight hundred thousand people going months without pay and maybe even more by saying that, well, you know, even if they didn't get paid back. That's only a third of a percentage point of the GNP's not going to make that much difference in the economy, which is even more insensitive by saying, well, you know, it's important is our gross domestic product, not necessarily the lives of these people, and Andy the president's daughter-in-law one of his daughter-in-law's, Laura Trump, also not showing the type of empathy empathy. The people would expect. For these furloughed workers, tell us about her comments. She said that you know, a little bit of pain. Here will be a lot of games for the country. And again, unless you know, these people less you see them firsthand. It's not hard to see because every news program is putting people on their certain in Seattle there. Many many federal workers that are hurting right now, I have friends who have gone without pay. They're not wealthy. These are not people that have months and months of of of stored money in a readily accessible banks somewhere where they can just pull the money out and pay the bills and say, well, I'll get paid. Eventually. There are some really critical issues here. There are people that are going with we going without surgery or going without seeing the doctor. They just don't have the out of pocket money to pay for these things. And there again is no end in sight to this no ended site, but the president did talk about maybe things could move forward. If what was the phrasing. A down payment was put on the wall. Yeah. There was a bipartisan group of senators who came up on Capitol Hill this afternoon, and they made a very important point. They said there are no preconditions here. We want to have a three week open the government Bill, and then we will negotiate in earnest what the president wants to do. We're not gonna we're not going to be bullied into this. We're not going to be. The workers held ransom for this. So again, what is being talked about on Capitol Hill. And what the president is saying are two different things. Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer, the leaders in the Senate have been meeting together to try to find some way out of this mess here is we are now going today. Thirty five ABC's Andy Field. Good enough to join us from Washington, Andy, thanks so much. I was watching CBS this morning their morning programming. And they were speaking with one of these furloughed federal workers. She was literally down to just over you probably saw. Schaller she had a dollar and six cents. I saw that and had just purchased a home. And she is not sure she'll be able to make the first mortgage payment on her new home, and you can look at people on the outside and think that they can make it I've been in this situation where my salary was cut in half. The Sandinistas in the. Allah. And now he has deciding who needs wealth, and who doesn't who rightly has it. And who doesn't here's what he had to say about this is in his sixth state of the city speech. So there's plenty of wealth just in the wrong hands. That's all fifties. There's plenty of money in the world. There's plenty of money in this city. It's just in the wrong hands. You deserve a city that gives you the share of prosperity that you have earned. Wow. Wow. "You know, and like not where a bunch of dudes look at our cool mustaches. It's like, you know, yes, we have a moustache. But my mom who cares about me? Doesn't have a moustache. And that's okay to talk to stuff, but we're trying to work on like, a little workout regimen. Okay. For for for one thing. So that'll be fun. I made some I made like a quick mockup of a workout routine that you could do from like, you know, your office or your your house. So your trainer now. It's an trainer. Okay. So that was cool. Yeah. We'll see. But anyway, the point is they have those cool things. I wanna get one for my house the desk is a normal desk. But then it's got like that you like add the piece I haven't Virginia. Yeah. That that makes it high enough. And I like that I won't want from my house. I think. Yeah. If you if you if you can do. Just the desk. If you don't already have a desk or something, right? Even for the desk is great. But those things are fantastic. Can remember what brand is one use? But it's super heavy just lifted right up some good idea. You know, it's interesting. I get the expanding. And I don't know what the rest of the actual informed conversation is expanding to beyond just the masculine side at the same time again, not the cancer side. But really more on the mental health side. Guys have so much work to do that. There's actually. An opportunity an impetus to just focus on guys, you know, in sure in the metoo world radio lab is doing a really interesting sort of series on this talking with the woman and having some really interesting conversations about the gray area in the me too world, and and how that's evolving and things like that and the role guys need to play from younger to older and their sons and things like that. Like the work we need to do there. That's very obvious and immediate. But also in the mental health side, you've got a personal thing. But it's also like who are the people who shoot everybody in America fucking wake guys. Right. And there's a lot of mental health issues there a lot of which we could have prevented whether it's through actually treating these people or preventing their access to things because we don't have a gun database, but my point is I guess there's a lot of work to do on that front, and it'd be interesting to see someone really take that head on. And be like, we're we were we got this. We're going to go after this. Yeah. And simplify focus as as opposed to opening up. I think there's opportunity for both. But I think there's really interesting opportunity in this moment specifically because guys guys are touching inappropriately and shooting inappropriate and white guys are responsible for just so many not great thing. And it'd be great if someone who's like that who's recognized because the mustaches and testicular cancer in touch to be well, we might be uniquely position to be like, let's have that proactive conversation takes proactive role. Yes. I don't know. Those are my outside thoughts. Nice. But yeah, I'm sure your workout is going to be great. All right. Well, that's interesting because exercises such a part of mental health. I mean, jeez. I gotta go fuck off. Conversation, by the way. My my wife will tell you in a heartbeat that if I don't exercise I may dick like anxiety through the roof. Don't sleep don't eat. And so what are you giving me shit for it, very important?.
