Erwin McManus: Jesus Cut Through Falsehood to Reach the Truth
"I'm talking erwin mcmanus irwin. We're just talking about jesus at age twelve in the temple And you're you're going to make a point. Let's interesting that you You highlighted the very passenger moment in the life of jesus as the basis of chapter to chapter one is simply called genius. It's an argument for what geniuses indus jesus qualify chapters about how there's phenomenon of children that are prodigies and so there are eleven years old and become masters and chassar world renowned violinist or mathematical genius. And and you can see the foreshadowing of this genius and you see that in jesus at age of twelve with this extraordinary level of intention and it's interesting that in that conversation that age of twelve. It's that they were confounded by his answers. But actually right before that says that jesus was doing as asking questions and and what jesus had. An incredible capacity is to cut through everything that was false to get to that which was true. And and is this foreshadowing that when jesus came back at the age of thirty that he was here reflecting to us revealing to us what it looks like to be fully human and he could cut through the falseness of religion. This falseness of of of a superficial spirituality and talk to us about what our humanity was supposed to look like. What's interesting to me about geniuses. Whenever person expresses his genius it looks simple. It looks easy. And you see these strokes of jesus with the adulterous woman. John chapter eight were there. They wanna stone this woman he just says whoever's without sent casta for stone in one statement and one simple stroke of the brush he wipes away whole the the chech- mental and condemnation and in one moment looking who condemned. And no one in the second stroke removes all shame and guilt. Being the elegance of the genius of jesus to me is
The Satanic Temple Challenges New Texas Abortion Law Citing Religious Freedom
"See that one of the big one of the big challenges to the texas abortion laws. Coming from the panic temple. They're saying that The texas abortion law violates their religious rights and their lobbying the state for an exemption to the law under their own religious freedom law the texas religious freedom restoration act. The group said that if the state declines to provide the exemptions going to seek judicial relief. I don't know exactly how The the abortion violates the religious beliefs. they say That their beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to start scientific facts to fit one's beliefs and that is the foundation of that and that Somebody's body is subject. To one's own will alone seems almost redundant but it's not their own will alone so they're claiming that this That this law is a violation of their religious

Rabbi Yehudah Glick on Building a Third Temple on the Temple Mount
"People are not allowed to pray on the temple mount. So i'm allowed to visit but i'm i'm theoretically not allowed to pray. Is this rule changing or changed. I know you are working. So t tell me where are we we. We really made a change. And as i said in the past anybody who moved his lips was immediately arrested today. More and more jobs. Come on wait a minute. You're not kidding people. Move your lips in the past. That was what what situation was. Five hundred and ten years ago up there and i start moving my lips. What what happens. Succo cop the. Yeah the the. The jordanian palestinian walks would immediately call the police and the police would say. Listen this the status quo and then we can't allow that. But really i wanna i wanna. I just prefer looking towards the future. Because i have a illness. I don't know if you know. I'm very optimistic. Like it and i believe that we can bring the change. And we're bringing the change. And i really want to tell you that i have the privilege of here being right now as you said. We're all our hearts in israel and that's where we live but i'm here now with hadas who's really leading leading a revolutionary idea which is no greater than the one that i'm dealing with if i'm dealing with the destruction of the temple home of god that that has been destroyed two thousand years ago and we are rebuilding hadas dealing with present reality. And i think it's important that your listeners. Listen to this. Revolutionary thing that does is leading together with me. Tim foundation look for we get to that. Just give me quickly. Are you advocating rebuilding the temple building a third temple. And where is that just briefly. Because i'm just trying to no it's not. I am not advocating. The bible advocates talks about building a house of prayer for all nations. We want the one only god his he has one. His name is one and we. Are we believe that. The people have been chosen to be light upon the nation's to be a blessing to the families of the earth and teach them that. We're all worshipping one god even though we're the verse in systems and the way he's not mean to be convinced that it should be there. I think it should be there. But i mean. Is this realistic that they would allow jews to build a temple on the temple. Mount strikes me as very difficult if i would ask you eighty years ago. Is it realistic. Jewish state will be established in the middle east. Never anthro
Can Non-Muslims Visit the Temple Mount?
"Anybody gonna know whether. I'm praying. If i go to the temple mount. You're saying that we can visit temple mount non muslims. Yes that's the situation but As i said we We've we've really made the change. Because i said in the past There was harassment and incitement and we first of all outlawed the radical political islam organizations that were bothering others from visiting. But till now until this very day. They're not allowed to carry a bible temple. Mount did not allowed to carry a any kind of shofar or any other religious article on ocean. Show far. what's the point show for This is. I'm just amazed by this. Listen i mean for anybody tuning. Who's unaware the idea that the holiest place In the history of the jewish people and I would say the holiest place for many christians. was in the seventh century Taken over by arabs and muslims and turned into. What is now this mosque. I mean it's an extraordinary convergence in history and it's it's kind of hard to take in. I mean if somebody doesn't believe in god i would say i would point to the temple. Mount and say does this seem like happenstance that that that this battle. The spiritual battle is happening in this very spot where jesus walked away. I mean it's just it's kind of an amazing thing. Historically anybody believe the bible knows that this is the place that god has chosen chosen to rest his divine presence and therefore we cannot tolerate the fact that the the that were not allowed to pray there. And that's that's what we're trying to do in that room. Majorly we say. Come visit the temple. Mount and we're gonna make the change. We say the temple was destroyed but its foundation. The torah the prayer the jewish people the connection the covenant with god is still there so we rebuild the temple top the sound dacian and the new temples built to meet the needs of today's reality and the concept. Today's reality is that we are calling on all peoples to come to the temple mount and let's make that change. It's it's it's happening. I just tell you that in two fourteen hundred. Eighty thousand of christians visited temple. Mount in two thousand nine hundred. Eight hundred thousand changes happening.
Rabbi Yehudah Glick on Worshiping in Peace at the Temple Mount
"You are the head of the temple institute as a christian and somebody who recently i'm i have. I'm coming out with a book where i talked about biblical archaeology and i have been so fascinated with a archaeology in jerusalem and israel and particularly the temple. Mount the history there so what what is going on with the temple. Mount with the idea of building. A third temple i mean most americans know nothing about this and i'm just fascinated me here from somebody who may give me some answers so as you said. I was the director of the temple institute. I'm now the. Ceo of the jerusalem foundation and the mission of the foundation is actually the forge path in which people who love god can freely of course regardless of their religion persuasions can freely and respectfully worship in peace at the temple. Mount and by providing equal access to the holiest of the holy places. We symbolically rebuild. The temple which strengthens the communities worshippers sham and strengthens the values. The value system the mankind and unfortunately in the temple mount for the past fifty years only muslims were allowed to worship. And we don't believe that that that definitely in western society who believes in freedom of worship that this continue and therefore thank god. We've made a major change on the temple mount and We've turned the place into place where thousands and even hundreds of thousands of tourists of believers in god who are not not that don't have to be muslim. Could come and pray and our goal is to turn the place into a house of prayer for all nations as i said. Well let me ask you. Just because i need the fact when i mean if i had visited jerusalem in the last ten years was would i be allowed on the temple. Mount yet you you would be allowed in the temple. Mount but if you've come here Five ten years ago on the temple. Mount you'd have policeman following you checking your lips. Make sure you don't move till tonight. You cannot bring by bible onto the temple mount. You cannot carry any other religious article on the temple mount today. If you're not muslim you have. You can walk on

The Founding and Crimes of The Children Of Thunder Cult
"On memorial day. Nineteen ninety nine. The helzer brothers attended a murder mystery. Dinner held at their local mormon temple that evening reportedly dressed in all black and thus stood out from the rest of suburban attendees. Most of whom were start shirts and press chino's. It was at that event that justin met don goodman a single mother mother in her mid twenties. Who had recently moved into town and was working a grocery store desperate to find a direction in her life. She decided to join the mormon church although she was said to be an outcast. Much like the helzer brothers will. Don began dating just shortly after the murder mystery dinner. She was reportedly fascinated by his cares. Medical brother taylor managed to convince her to join a self awareness. Seminar which consisted of spending a few days inside a windowless room while a facilitator aggressively badgered them to confront their inner demons which sounds like most university classes. I attended so not that crazy but no absolutely ridiculous After completing two of the seminars three levels don began receiving spiritual guidance from taylor. He had become completely unhinged by this point telling her that sometime in january two thousand it was his destiny to take over the mormon church by all means necessary. He also began calling himself. Don and his brother the children of thunder claiming that it was their mission to create a state of peace and joy for everyone.
Victoria Valentino, Bill Cosby Accuser, Speaks About His Overturned Conviction
"Bill Cosby came down this week, chances are pretty good. Your reaction was the same as ours in the newsroom. What just happened here? It was a stunning ruling the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, throwing out Cosby's sexual assault conviction and releasing him from prison. Cosby, who is now 83 flashed the V for victory sign to a helicopter overhead as he trudged into his suburban Philadelphia home after serving nearly three years of a 3 to 10 year sentence for drugging and violating Temple University sports administrator Andrea Constand in 2000 and four Cause we spoke with ABC news after he was released over body had defense to say Wait one second. And the president asked if he could come speak at my father is the synagogue and come to his house. And it was, of course, an incredibly uplifting moment. What I think about that day. Don't you know people can go on the Reagan library website and listen to the speech. He was in October of 84, a temple Hillel, and I think it was one of the seminal moments When the Republican Party really move closer to Israel, he said something that very improving Least to me, and this was when you know Israel is that it's low point in the United Nations, and he said, if Israel has ever voted out of the United Nations, the United States and Israel will walk out together. Hand in hand and It was. It was just, You know, it's something you don't hear in 1984, and I'll never forget it. Now, uh Tell the American people the Abraham accords, why

"Thank you so much for joining us today. That just do it thank you. It's my pleasure. Yeah i would love for you to get us started just by telling us a little bit about your journey. How did you come to study this area theology and how has it connected us to communities in your travels. Thank you for the question. I would say that my journey in some ways. It has many beginnings but the most important beginning was my experience in college. I was actually an english major. And then i was double majoring with african american studies but it was so early at that time for african american studies at my institution that it was listed under social science. So i wasn't a religion major at all but what happens predominantly white campuses students will get drawn to wherever the black professors are and so dr young was in the religion department. "Assured ch i know with now because i find the The church name in the bible and it is. I am not good in the bible. So i can't say exactly where it is but you know that part in the bible that this when jesus is coming into the temple temple eight said the the most most holy places that should be only for god and nothing else a should not be anything from the world inside a temple and he coming into the temple and diaries selling things. It's may be livestocks inside temple and they are selling. It's about money money money in the temple golf these not money money money money at tell i tell it so often when i've read about people say a prayer for you that you should get mammon you today. You got proverty like this. I say god is not money. Goddess had never been about money he created and he. He'll but he's not about money. And that's why jesus gave away the money. He did them hold the money for himself. He jesus gave the money to view thus the he that betray jesus and jesus he knew this man is going to betray me but i give him all our money to him to hold them and you'll does was greedy about money. That's why he betrayed. Jesus because he loves money so he was not of god because he liked the money so everyone talking about money in that way that money is glorified in their preaching in speaking to you they are not from god so you know that they are not from god. God is not about money and so it was case of speed so angry in that temple and he sweep away all our gods all their money. Everything is and screaming. This is this should be how the of god is going to be a prayer of healing church in that temple. They see. this is not god's temp of this place that you think about money. Money will come if you do the right thing when you do everything. In god's swim.

Entering the Mystery
"There is a story about molina's redeem who's considered to be a sufi wiseman and fool and in this story. He's invited to teach at a large temple and the congregations very excited and the first thing he says is who knows what i'm going to teach and everybody just kind of sits there and he just shrugged his shoulders and the leaves and so they're they're pretty confused and upset so they invite him again and again the everybody's gathered and he says who knows what i'm gonna teach and everybody raises their hand. He shrugged his shoulders and exits third time. They invite him any again. You know poses the question. Who knows what. I'm going to teach and this time half the group racer had and he says good then you guys can teach the other half and he leaves again so i share that because it's an interesting question. What we really know about life you know we we go around at one level of knowing but there's these huge questions like where did this universe come from and if it what happened i mean what started off and if there was no starting point what is eternity mean really are what is love. I mean we use that word love all the time but if we slow down just to bid and sense a feeling okay no really. What is this what is love. And then we can wonder about how it is that humans create so much suffering.
What Your Pre-Run Warmup Routine Should Look Like
"Let's Hop on over to those questions and this is from jenny who wonders about warm ups and she seems to have stopped to call in this question. Which i know you always love. Hey guys it is. Jenny from allen texas and i m in the warm up a temple workout in one of your half marathon training plans and then just thinking should i be doing strides in this one. Look like in the one mile warmer i into some work I worry about this Wonder it and say that you can answer this question. Take care guys many happy. Well hello jenny. Speaking of the portland retreat or forward to seeing you add it. I know you and some of your buddies from texas convening here so looking forward to that okay all right back to your question i agree. It can seem jarring to jump into a really challenging. You know kinda turn on the turbo jets to do tempo. Or you know other speedier work after quote unquote just a mile or two warm-up i find the older i get the more time i need to warm up so i'll share what i do But i coach timoti offer guidance. Well i think i think The amount of warm up you need directly correlates with age. So i mean i feel like you know if you were a twenty five mile would feel really long. Can't we just get this workout. So i think you know what we did in most the train like a mother plan. Is we try to be super efficient with your time knowing that. You know we don't want to give you. I mean there are some plans for sure that have longer than sixty minutes on the weekdays marathon and training plans and that kind of thing because you have to put into mileage there but we really want to make you know be able to give you work outs. That are compact bite size and doable as possible. So the good news is that you can add anything like as long as you're going at an easy pace you can easily add onto a warm up at onto a cool down. There is no problem there. So if two miles feels better if two and a half miles feels better. You can absolutely do that. You're going to talk a little bit about dynamic warm ups so we can talk about that as well. That might also be a good way to kind of get your body blood flowing and then go into a mile but if you feel like you need one point three miles one point. Seven miles in your schedule allows for

"I need to read this. Because sometimes it's hard doesn't come to my memory automatically but let's practice this together. I will try to put an insane try. I'll try to put as much as i can on i'll anything i put on my facebook page. I'll share with blue lotus temple. The temples closed right now so all of their services are going to be either a facebook live or if they have a guest speaker from somewhere else it'll be on zoom so they'll still be active but The decision was made. And i think appropriately so to close the temple to the groups who have been coming for monday and wednesday and saturday and the only life thing going on In person live will be the lunches on saturday that the monks will still be doing inside and then people drive. It's like a drive through because you can drive through the alley order your food ahead of time and then there'll be people bringing it out to your car just outside the kitchen door so they'll be being extremely careful in. The food is all for fair prepared in the professional kitchen and That's best keeping our monks going financially. So sit in your relaxed position that allows you to have a straits. Even if you're on the floor you can. You can straighten your spine so your long have maximum space for breathing. We're we let her body. Do the breathing. We can just be aware of our breath of our body breathing for us. That for me these days. I grateful thing i think of when they do gratitude practice. I can observe my body breathing breathing for me. And when i'm sitting up straight are standing even lying in bed. I can just be aware of the body breathing. just doing it automatically and with our with our spine uplifted. We know that those lungs are getting in full amount of air we can feel it pushing on her diaphragm and that's what causes her tummy to rise and fall. That's a beautiful thing to be observing these days so whenever you need to come back to observe in your breath observe your body breathing and allow it to breath. The way wants to breathe which is to take in more air. We don't have to force it. We don't half to be in charge. We just.

"Okay. I hope you all had the good meditation practice. If I, ask a question. When you do your meditation I, Know Your purpose. Maybe how different words! The simple words. Everybody will say. I won't be happy. It would worry agree with that MINU. do meditation you won't be happy. Yes. So, no, my rations ungracious. Now you're doing meditation. Are you happy? You can as a sometime years sometime not. If you're a happy. Sometimes, it is okay. Sometime you are unhappy. Reduce Okay too. So after. Many years of your practice or many months of your practice. Every day. When you live your life. All is your mind going back and forth. Still the same thing happening in your mind. Maybe! Meditation is not working. So sometime you are not you know. Some people are not meditating at all. Some people come to say today. I'm very happy. Then next this person called me and said today I'm unhappy. Then I was thinking people who are practicing meditation. They're the same expedience. And the person who doesn't have any idea about the meditation, they're the same expedience. So that, what is the difference? So regular people know about the meditation, no idea about the practice, no idea about the mindfulness sometime they are heavy. Sometimes, they aren't happy. So people who are practicing meditation. Sometimes they are happy. Sometimes, they aren't heavy. So then I was thinking. What is the difference? There's no difference. Why Right exactly so then my question for you. How do you understand this? So Vineyard two things. How mine is always going back and forth those things. This way to be happy. I think you had to give up those boats. How you're going to do that. Can you give up happiness? Can you, unhappiness. If. You can do and learn how to do that. Then be! You are not happy. Then what is happening to after that. Why you know you lost both woods now you give up both woods. You are not happy. You're not on heavy. What would we can use after that? Content yeah we are content. So? If you're truly media practice with your mindfulness if you are content. Then you don't have that. You know upend down problem. Make sense everybody. So what I'm asking you today. So just coming to mediation, sit down in meditation and doing then you happy. Then you are driving home. Somebody you honking. Then, you're chasing that person. You are angry. So He's happen to people. Right people tell me those stories after you know. When I was at the temple, I was meditating so peaceful temple is so beautiful beautiful Manga idea channing a so peaceful. So, then I'm going home. Somebody's pointing fingers at me. Then I'm angry. I'm chasing that person. So. They now. He was so disappointed about his practice. I said. Of course we have to be disappointed. So I you in practice. You just came to the temple had little fun? He's a like a party played it. Brady and that's a good one is played. dimples not for the play the. You know the meditation or Temple the purpose not to have entertainment. Then Paul is not for the place for you to entertain your life. You know if you are planning to entertain. You can go to so many other places. Then, you can feel miserable after that. You feel angry, but if you come to the tempo. The Tempo! Menu here. The word temples. How do you define that would temple? I don't I won't ask American people when you hear the Word Temple. How do you feel? Tired. Place to practice what else? I'll get blessed to the month. Shelter okay. Sanctuary. What I used to think of what was now. Who is what I think? For us the. Okay Place of worship. Okay, there are so many meaning right you. Place for worship sanctuary, those beautiful words. So you when you come to the tempo, maybe sometimes I, don't know how to take with monks. You ever seen. Them police saw dirty. Not Clean. And always when you come to the temple, how do we keep the tempo? Clean and crystal clear and everything is now nor dust clean and we. We are weekly, you know. KEEP CLEANING WHY WE KEEP cleaning weekly. Is Keep getting? Dirty. So when I hear the Word Temple Ivy something, beautiful, something or something clean. So when you come to the temple. That's fine I can handle it. I loud enemy. So then I started the meditation still dog and come. Distract me and doing things with me. So I can't continue to practice loving kindness meditation. Finally what happens. There's a dog. Sit Down next to me and having a really good nap. then. There is a two cats. Those two gets also worked next to me. And they're playing with my roles. I believe that is the power of the practice. Now, you can see the beauty of your life. How many people see that building? One time increase the league. I was having lunch. It Group of my friends. We are waiting for food. So then I saw next able. Young mother and father do little. Baby may be three years old. They're banding for food. This little girl distracted. Then the restored people. some coloring papers. Now, she's being hollering. Mud is assisting her. I can hear the conversation. Then I figured it out. She was coloring Now this little girl beautiful. She's talking to the mother Mommy I love butterflies. Then mother has why do you like butterflies? Then she said butterflies are so beautiful. They can fly. I. Won't Be Butterfly Flying. I won't fly like a butterfly. How you that story. Then I was thinking I'm listening. This little girl! That's how she expedients her life right now why? She doesn't have that many distraction her life. She's so he'll. He's so honest. Why? He's not distracted in the world. It is so funny. Almost be done eating. The already to leave then group of teenagers. Walk into the restaurant. They are loud. Big Group like maybe ten of them. They are sitting and right to figuring out. I'm really good observer when I see things around me. Then, they are making a joke myth. One goal. Maybe our friends I. Don't know what is going on. Everybody's laughing and loud. Speaking this girl and saying things to her. He is so annoying by that. Expedience. That moment she said I his life. I hid his life. Then in that moment I was thinking. That is how she expedience life. Why she's little bit distracted. So what I'm asking you today. Many as a goal. Like forty years ago when I become a monk. I was a angry monk. So an wing. Making all. Pool. It is so difficult. Some teachers because of my devious. I got lots of punishments. Nobody likes me. But I don't know what to do. One day I was reading Zahn Sanskrit Book. In this book says. If you want to be avoided upper. You know the world bodies other wasn't trying to be a that. He has to practice these qualities. Indofarma temple chanting book, We have my rich. That's why I included that. I know that time. I was really angry middle monk. But when I'm reading that sounds book. I was thinking. This is what I won't be. This is what. My dream. I was like thirteen years old. But I won't be. I don't know how. But dead! Young, egg I planted some seat. Now forty years later. Being among. The rest of my life. I'm asking how many people evicted by my practice. We'll by the whole world. How many people effected by my loving kindness practice? He Ain't the Blue Lotus temple. If I didn't do my loving kindness practice. You are not here today. If I didn't come to woodstock practice. Loving kindness with Jason here. You know so. Those are the people. Was it next to me? Nobody's here. So therefore I'm asking. B.'s my message today. What they were. You don't be today. It is not something simple. Maybe many years later so many comedy to you and learn from. You'll practice from you especially your children. So. This is my new job now. My dream is to build loving kindness army. Now think about all the problems in the world. If. You can build this kind of army in this world. This army. We, are not killing. We are not hurting. We are not insulting. The discounting. That is the weapons we are using. So. They are why I'm asking. You don't underestimate you. Don't only estimate you. You have perfect. Human being born into this world. Now use your inner power to change the world. If you are in that journey, you the Buddha. You can change so many people. Devil. Key planning to this practice. Every day. I'm asking your join. With us to practice. So, he gave me are going to do this meditation mainstay meaning. This summer same place here now still temple is closed. How would we can do this practice and take the message to the world next time when you come, please being more friends. That is the way you can spread this word. I hope you learned something beautiful today now we are going to do. Little chance for you all else. This is the blessing for you. All your children, your family, so many people requested. The doctor said eyeing temples file temples. Mom you stationed raised her eyebrows. What does that mean? She asked some people with autism are never able to speak or understand words others go to school and get jobs and might just seem a little quirky temples. Doctors said she would never speak some implied that she should be put in a mental institution. Her parents often argued about it. She's insane her said you won't admit it that's why you won't put her in an institution but you statia refused to send her away instead. You stay hired a speech therapist. Who taught temple how to speak in full sentences and to listen closely to others words? When temple was five you stay enrolled her in elementary school before temple it. The grand in house had become a playground. She and her friends played table. Hockey and temples room. The also made a plays designed costumes and went on spy missions. More than anything. Though temple love to create things. She drew horses running through the fields. She made kites shaped like birds and jellyfish. She built forts in the woods with her friends in fourth grade. Her history teacher asked each student to make a stone age to without any modern day. Materials Temple hunted for the perfect stone and attempted to tie it to a stick using a blade of grass. The stone fell off his stick but temple wasn't upset trying to figure out again and again. How a tool like that worked filled her with joy one day in sixth grade. Her classmates were talking about what they wanted to be. When they grew up temple thought for a moment she saw all the inventors she'd read about in books. Elias the inventor of the sewing machine and Robert Fulton the inventor of the steamship. She saw their faces and their inventions and then she saw herself. I think it would be fun to be an inventor. Temple said temples classmates in elementary school. Were like family. All that changed. When she went to junior high there were a lot more students at our new school. Working with the horses seemed to help temple so in temples junior year you statia came up with an idea. I've talked with your aunt and Arizona's she said and she wants you to spend the summer with her on their cattle ranch. Pictures flashed through temples. Mind heat rising in waves a bright orange sun the desert. She grimaced no but with her. Mom's encouragement temple went anyway. The plane ride was noisy. When temple arrived in Tucson it felt as hot as an oven but up in the mountains where the ranch was it was a lot. Cooler Temple started working right away building and repairing things. She loved spending time with the cattle. Sometimes she'd go lie down in the pasture and they'd come up to sniff and nosal heard she realized they were curious but also sometimes fearful just like her sudden changes surprise them a glint of light or a loud noise. They weren't expecting but when she was lying quietly on the soft grass. They were peaceful and gentle. She was also drawn to the cattle. Shoot a big contraption that held cavs still while they were vaccinated temple saw that the cavs were nervous when going into the chute but when the sides of the machine pressed against them they calmed down. "This time. I got to catch up with Robert deleo Eric. Kretz the bassist and drummer from Stone Temple pilots. We talked about their latest album for Dita mostly acoustic collection. That's both a continuation of their music. In something of a departure we also talked about the painful loss of two of their lead singer. Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington and how the band found a way forward. We got into the connection between the Stone Temple pilots and the carpenters which I guess wasn't a complete surprise for me but when way way deeper than I would imagined I spoke with Robert and Eric on a rainy Tuesday in early March. It was rainy in New York. Not La where they were but it's definitely a day. I remember clearly because for one thing it's the last time I was on the subway in New York by the next day. Like a lot of you. I had started working from home where I'm recording this introduction these strange times and is just about every other email you get tends to put. I hope this finds you well. It's a time when everything seems to be up in the air. And that goes double. If you were touring musician. When I spoke with Robert Eric they were just about to start a tour of Australia. Alongside some nineties Rock Radio. Eros Bush and live but things were just beginning to shut down at that point and so those tour dates had to be rescheduled for next year while Stone Temple pilots. Hope that their plans to tour the US this summer going to hold. It's hard to say what the future will bring. Most musicians. Make their living on the road. So most musicians are in a really difficult spot right now. I'm sure a lot of you guys are too and this is a time when we really need to take care of each other. Which means being careful saying healthy washing your hands like you're so Pez the winning ticket of a scratch off lottery hidden inside it but it also means that if you're a music fan and you can swing it maybe think about supporting the music you love however you can me personally. My Band t shirts supply has been growing very steadily. Okay so that's my public service announcement. Let's get back to stone temple pilots and when they first emerged in nineteen ninety and songs like plush in creep began to dominate the radio. The band was dismissed. Grunge copycats by the sort of rock purists who also initially dismissed Pearl Jam as a major label Nirvana clone. I mean in one thousand nine hundred one. I knew a guy who was absolutely obsessed with proving that Pearl. Jam had been assembled boy band style by its label and he was going to get to the bottom of the whole thing. Which of course was not true. But here's the funny part. I I was never really on the Pro Navonna Anti Proton Bandwagon. But you know who was Robert deleo from Stone Temple pilots who once told rolling stone that until he saw Pearl Jam play on Lollapalooza Nineteen ninety-two. He thought of them as fakes. Look if you didn't live through the grunge war is a must seem really confusing now but the the basic point is that nothing was real enough in pro. Jam was real enough because they hadn't started on an Indie label. Nirvana even Rana wasn't real enough. Because they hadn't stayed on Indie label. It didn't matter that some of these bands loved the same sort of music or hit started from the same sort of place. I mean Robert Deleo and Scott Weiland met in Los Angeles in nineteen eighty five after a Gig by punk rock pioneers black flag but back in the grunge worries nothing past the authenticity test side. Note here when Robert wrote plush in nineteen eighty nine and he I played it for Weiland. Wild dismissed it as sounding too much like Boston as side. Note to the side noticed that Kurt cobain used to say that smells like Teen Spirit. Was Him trying to sound like Boston? So you see what I mean about some of this stuff starting from the same place..

"Good Morning Good morning at central time. This is speak when he we mullah from Blue Lotus Temple in Woodstock Illinois. And I'm here to ask you to join me to do another. Meditation will spend about thirty minutes together. If you can remember these are recorded too so you can. You can bought US listen to them any time. That's good for you today. I'd really like us to think about our breathing. That something that until recently until the time of this virus we probably haven't had to think about very much and now we're recognizing Not only the importance of it but Everything that we're doing all over the world to help keep people breathing whom we think about her day to day. Lives were often so busy in so consumed with everything consumed and consuming everything around us that We use expressions. Like I didn't have a minute to breathe or I'll sit down and breathe later when I have time or we're always breathing so let's work today together on just being able to relax and stay with our breath and really exploring our body that way and sometimes if we can stay with our breath. We're actually going to be letting more rice up for us to look at to see so it can be emotional especially these days. Sometimes a four tight with our breath. We're not breathing deeply and calmly wherein stand pushing things away so if we can really be with our breath be still and the calm and stay with our breath. Lots of things may rise up so if don't be surprised or uncomfortable if something painful or sad rices up. That's that's that's not bad and we can handle it. It's in our body somewhere so let's be more aware of what's this. What's here just this morning? I heard about the death of the mother of two dear friends of mine and And I know how difficult it is for them right now and I think when we feel in this experience where all going through around the world were feeling things for all living beings everyone were connected to and our connections with every other living being or becoming more and more real to us every day. There's no separation so there will be sadness and there will be pain and there will be suffering and the best thing we can do when we're in the midst of that is to sit with our breath and let our hearts open up. So let's do that now so gently. Close Your eyes and if you can breath in and out through your nose.

Can you believe I started here in this small community like three people? Now we are worldwide within seventeen eighteen years. And it'd be he knows we have centers are happening in so beautiful. It is so beautiful because when people talk about the Blue Laura's Buddha and Jesus Living under one roof hole. This temple is so powerful. "Why Temple Community Base? Okay wonderful wonderful anything sunny okay. Yeah I understand. Yeah Yeah Yeah that's right anything out yet vacancy and here you don't have options Yeah so that's always very good to come to the community. What is the our Buddhist word we are using for that? Sanger sanger our noble friends community because we all are like minded people so few weeks ago. I think maybe month ago before I travel actually more than a month ago. I was Doing clause medidation glossy evening glass in a health. Food store interesting place so then I love those stores. Good stuff and so anyway. I had the forty five minute break. You know before the class so then people customers still coming in and buying things and people come into the meditation and sit down and I was keep walking around the stole and you know looking and taking all the little items and so then I realize he a in this country. We have lots of alternatives. Lots of options. So then I was thinking I can buy most of good stuff from there but I was keep looking for appeal or medicine or you know whatever alternate you will find happiness or joy. Your mindfulness you know. There is an appeal there for that. You know there is no what you know the Pill for enlightment and so but other than that everything there is nothing about when you go to the grocery store you lots of stuff. Now I know you have some money in your pocket. You you have your credit card so if you want to buy something you can go dry through and you can buy it on the way home. Did you see anything By through at the blowed temple outside dry through and go by dry through you know by something in we cannot. There is a church. I heard in central Pennsylvania so one student all me. There's a church in central Pennsylvania. It is a dry through church. I was thinking I don't believe it. Then he said if you don't believe it I will take you. I said No. I'm going to believe you now so then I asked him. How do you think that worked in the church work? And then he said people don't have time to go to church and in this on the Sunday morning a they need something easy and simple and quick and instant and they go right through in a joint bank so then they have three buttons push one number one is ten bucks to in the box or whatever number then put the credit card or cash or whatever way you won't pay then they can hear Then buck sermon any bucks and then I pray and that little box and maybe then them so how wonderful life is so easy even drive through church then I was laughing although you gave me a perfect business idea what I'm GonNa do. I go back to Illinois. I started this Temple Temple. I'm going to do dry through mindfulness. Everybody can get very little. How EASY IF WE HAVE? I think if you do then maybe American people love it because everything is very easy and simple but now I can see lots of all tornadoes and people looking for but same time. I can see when people come to the temple and also many people. I'm traveling all the time. All these people they are listened always people looking for something deeper. When I'm asking this question. People doing lots of complaints about life more than good moments. They're complaining more including myself. We are complaining more about life that means I can see less happiness. More unhappiness less happiness more unhappiness more unhappiness people have less happiness. People have so the now whatever people did to achieve happiness didn't work so far. What are the things you need to be happy? Give me a list. What other activities? You did to make life happy. Okay go vacation wonderful. What else. Okay Oh my God. You Ain't trouble. What is her by things? Okay what else. Okay with friends okay. Okay okay by things you know when you buy things you feel happy then only happiness you had when you are buying things no you had unhappiness to nitpicks venue or is happy. There's something something moment when you're watching certain things you feel unhappy right then friends going with friends. Happy okay good. There's no unhappiness with your friends right. Okay so how about relationship you? You'll get in relationship to be a happy life. Yes I think. Now people come to me and said you know how about Eurasian. Oh my God I made the mistake. People always complain about the relationship How about children don't feel in. Don't think I'm negative. I'm not negative. How about having children? You did the purpose driven heavy but now thinking about when I'm talking to parents especially mothers all is there were in everyday life. You bring things into your life as a people and things and so whatever people did the ice some kind of live happiness in there but most of the time people are not content. Eve you are planned to be happy you all in trouble. Therefore I'm asking you don't make any plans to be happy. That's not the right word. Happiness come with something always pleasurable now. Dodd said happy is eating. Cookies are really well. Because he's always around among Lao cookies but if you're keep eating the cookies definitely are going to be unhappy so that means you're looking for something pleasurable so then always pleasurable like and this lake. I'm asking duty. We all have to look for what containment. We all have to look for containment. So what you did to make your life heavy. So far didn't work now people think. Then there's something else then. There is a problem. Whatever I did didn't work now I want to find the answer so then looking for and then you go to the health food store. That's why we have so many options. Then you're thinking of the health food store and all the wiedeman shops and all those places you go into work. Maybe then go.

"Meditation for the Temple of Voices the temple of Voices is smaller than the other halls on the other side yet. It's probably has the greatest greatest acoustics of the mall. The building is perfectly round romanesque in design and all gold. The columns are gold steps are gold doors are gold and the Dome is gold in fact no other temple over. There is totally totally gold like this one yet. It seems to be going with a tremendous iridescent almost fuchsia Allard light. The guide says the temple of voices attract souls like a magnet because the tones and the quality music or so magnificent here you can hear the Cherub beam in the Seraphim or you can listen to a people from this life who've had beautiful pitiful voices example would be the Mormon Tabernacle choir or other lovely harmonious voices. You are familiar with so they could be contemporary nature even what has not yet been heard on earth. Everything is melodious in symphonic funny. Even though there are so many different instruments violins trumpets French horns in the light you might think that the sounds of all these instruments would great and Din of noises but they do not they don't all play at once. "Have <unk> in one pages most of for free which only take an hour to two run it would be pretty easy but that's weird to play with that session zero shadow on his numerous missions and tons it breaches on vehicles amounts pathfinder doesn't okay job in mounted combat. They created the cavalier class and rewrote some rules so they're at least functional offense probably the best modern combat system. I can think of one of the least played classes you see them. In pathfinder society also mounted combat for archers for excuse me for archer rangers pretty overpowered as you could could move and still full attack a good lord well the many reasons. You probably don't use <unk>. Slash amount combat is the rules are always wonky. Don't have yet to see a system. Make run well. I i've seen okay rule seven drills in pathfinder a fan but they're still clunky if you can think unaccepted love to see them henry through them because i really can't think of any i would love to read some from my own system. I'm working on association chairman. Yes good so i think if you get a system and it doesn't really matter matt what system it is if that chases coincide with the overall mechanics of the game aim saw elaborate if you as a player character in order to accomplish something it's very i roll dice compared at any skill bonus and you have a target number and if it succeeds great and if you don't if if you don't hit the target number you don't if you have a system that's like that and it coincides and crosses over into a chase then i think it's a system that probably is less last wonky right so it same with star wars fantasy fight games. You have a ship. You have the skill you roll the dice. You have narrate right out the outcome based on the <unk> about a system that utilizes the core mechanics doesn't build a mini game within the game. That would be exactly what i'm saying because i think that's when things get really walkies because you're stopping and having to do a different mini game within your game. We talked about this when we chat about grappling awhile back yeah yeah yeah j. and chases too yeah and i don't know if it crosses over very well necessarily but at least then you're not like earth. Stop app break out. These pages of the book read them. Oh figure this out figure that out resolve continue sir her. That's all i'll say fair fair for now. Some systems do pretty good job with chases incorporate some combat but as us but soon as you move into combat vehicles without chase it breaks down again kind of never ran. Slash plates are finding. They seem to have some decent roof for keeping everyone engaged in starship combat on terrain at shipton legos as a kid. I started gaming. Twelve alvin made use of them. I had the cool pirate ships which were once which were nice ship to ship combat castles. We've been at lagos instead of minis pretty sure the rules weren't followed that closely it sure was fun unfortunately got rid of them in my late teens early twenties which i still had them because like to try them again i mean <hes> from local gaming stores a war hammer store so have used their train little for pathfinder society but for the most part avenues terrain and fifteen years or so. I say like the idea of trained but don't see myself using using it now i i haven't they tend to crafting always roll a disadvantage. Oh jesus that's batman second employee second. I am pretty frugal bruegel and the arts something. I could use a lot. I rarely run the same type of setting about to circle back to fantasy and it's been a little over five years. It would send me to spend that money for for a <hes> for one use. Every five years plus storage space has so many board games and r._p._g.'s that it's already had to find space for and i still have like three kickstarter kickstarter coming in. I know you feel breau ev- as someone who loved to make it though i'd use it more tactical games her the grid map works. Just fine is much much faster unless as you said you had <hes> pieces to do the entire dungeon also have been running more zone based games which really don't benefit nearly as much from train games like pathfinder side roads and forty though really do benefit a lot in my opinion a love vision blocking a map tool so people couldn't even see around the corner having one guy around around that corner and go. Oh shit is always a fun moment this guy as some good ways to make dungeons on the cheap. If you want to link we've got a youtube link there from <hes> our buddy here so thank you very much coach and he hinted today temple mental evil about the p._c. Game twice two different versions headed for over twenty years at least five computers in that time have been able to get to run any of them so it is in fact unplayable all that's not quite what i meant but okay good good good good nice stuff man. Oh goodness all right. Thank you matt. Thanks matt blake of house. Ryan on temple of elemental evil good i my first game as a player was in the temple temple of elemental evil for those who don't know the temple of elemental evil was a first <hes> through tenth mega dungeon module and i eighty set in the lands lanza grayhawk thought it was one through nine blake just saying checking checking kaeding there are more are there are over four hundred rooms. It is a mega engine years later iran temple of elemental evil with the group <hes> in the group took the throne down into level four and died insert new group to rescue their friends slash cousins there are chances to set the factions against each other and some neat elemental planer exploration one minute like is there is there's a chance to rescue a noble which means you would normally escort them out which gives the dungeon inhabitants a chance to regroup my tip to gm's to have them a followed the activities the dungeon forces should not be confined to the dungeon for iran and again. I would have more chances for a fight escalation. Due to the close proximity of the many of the rooms of many of the rooms black hawk down eat your heart out only criticism of the modules seems seems like they did not have a clear idea of the ongoing bad guy doug mccoy. The fungus demon is one of the big bads but there's no mention one of her. In the house of the i two hundred rooms of the dungeon likewise there is a loaf cultist in the house and then one room to a loaf cultist don level three since there are dozens of rooms dedicated to the competing elemental factions in temple think they should have had a stronger subplot with just one big bad instead of having i was loath and ziga doug mckelway kinda involved keep the zips apps rolling velez blight ryan good stuff so debut white on vehicles. I'm continuing my b._s. Binge on into the show's listen to perfectly timed seemed to have taken a dig shawn's accent email last week low behold let plug in an episode. One three six were sean does his accent for the whole show sean. If my wife and i rolled into your motel in the backwoods wisconsin you greet here with that voice. She'd be back in the car in a heartbeat twenty meal. Let's just say intrigued league by what you may have served for breakfast you guys last show. One vehicles was great my vehicle gamer story. If you give me time my god sums new the hobby and it started bringing dandy andy from his dad and some old friends that play back in highschool by half year ago. This player wanted to have some wagon builder as a background for his lizard man fight. I tour rather than stating his way and she starting his wagon mechanically. I grabbed the driver. Playbook from apocalypse world used vehicle traits to give the cartoon personality the traits tracy latched onto were off road handcrafted spikes and plates and raggedy <hes> in the end he got a cart meat from huge bones curve cover the horns in hyde pulled by three chat lizards that start and go as lizards do the bone wagon has become a huge part of the story is the players go in and out of the wastelands. I keep pulling elements from it into the recession when they camp on route looks like remains a huge beast from a distance. The knowles tend to give it a pass if they do get jumped they fight from a defensive position. When someone misses a rolls low short rest hit points is because jerky y ride of the wagon and one combat a lizard the big one with the most points got a name because <unk> it got its name. It became highlight when we decided they should be able to fight back. <hes> should something get in range. It scored a decapitated while the knowles in one shot awesome times. Uh-huh shortly vehicle has been a great addition to the party in story. Playing five years presented some challenges for music d._m. Nomadic players spoke astor's so it felt like hit points are the only resource i could a dig into the players squirm with wagon is another doubt play with its open up another part of the game need to bring that thing in pack dilute and hide out in they protect it anyway all the best. Thanks for your hard work debut white very cool. I like that idea like did the big old lizard lizard wagon levy and <hes> so your wife doesn't like my accent on okay. Nobody does shawn.
