And I can't help but think that these magnificent and highly intelligent creatures could only be descended from one thing. See the truth is hockey's always been here, sleeping giant ready to be awoken. And this city deserves a hockey club untamed as the sea herself. And when we heard the rallying cry ing of the fans and we heard the undeniable passion they had for this name. We knew it was the one We are the Seattle crackin. "U. S Census Bureau is sending workers into more areas of the country. NPR's Hansi Lo Wang says they'll be knocking on doors of households that did not complete a 2020 census form either online by mail or over the phone. Roughly four out of 10 households nationwide have not yet participated in a constitutionally mandated headcount. Masked workers from the Census Bureau are heading out to neighborhoods in eastern Connecticut, southern Indiana, Bosa Kansas, Central, Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia, plus in and around Tacoma, Washington. Results of the count help determined amount of federal tax dollars each community gets for Medicare, Medicaid and other public services. Door knocking is set to start nationwide on August 11th But some census advocates are worried the Corona virus outbreaks could stop door knockers from making in person visits. That could result in major undercounts and affect federal funding and local representation over the next decade Long
El Hilo: Walking to Venezuela
"We are back with translation from NPR Gregory Warner. You could say this story begins with a coat of house paint. There's a New Year's tradition in Venezuela to repaint one's house. Every December the holdover from win Venezuela was one of the richest countries in Latin. America families had money for these sort of luxuries. Caroliina order pays out, remembers the very first December that they did not have enough money for paint. The But I in her husband Orlando took it hard. Anthony Maheen NOPAL blessed, don't. Like US Orlando Pimentel was a civil servant at Venezuela wet, a lot of people working for him. He led an anti corruption investigation unit in the work. Itself could be frustrating. He'd collect all this evidence of corruption. No one would actually go to jail to instead. Orlando put his creative energy into cooking. His sons sort of Foodie. and He loves food, says he loved not only planning the meals, but serving them is a person that you would invite to your house for dinner and he ends up taking the Apron and taking the the knife from you. And you're like. Hey, how're Landau? Invited you. The economic crisis in Venezuela it started years before, but by two thousand sixteen, the signs were obvious. There were shortages of almost everything and massive inflation, which meant that Orlando salary stayed the same, but the money Bob less and less, you see your salary, becoming solid and water every month and every week you go to the supermarket and price gets up and up and up. Orlando and KARLEENA would ask themselves. Should he leave and seek opportunity abroad? The so many of their friends had done. So many professionals and teachers and other civil servants had gone to Peru or Colombia Ecuador to find whatever work they could and send money home. It was easy to see that the country was getting empty. Every night when you see out of the window and you see just a couple of lights in the building that in front of you because the rest of the apartments are closed. Caroliina was worried about him leaving. She read so many stories about xenophobia. Get yet his. Lesson Foyer Servant Selana. Backlash to the flood of Venezuelan job. Minnesota Norway Orlando she says was not worried about xenophobia. She says he always only saw the good in people, but that was also her worry. That will see see if went up on. Engine to others before paying attention to himself. What is it a comparable Bundy McGinnis moisture? Said we sal Tacoma goal set on. Orlando says the reason he stayed so long was because he just loved Venezuela, and he truly hope things would get better i. think he was kind of resisting. He was coping. He was trying to say okay. Let's try to do this. Let's try to find a second job. We call it. which is doing a lot of small jobs in order to survive? This has been chasing tigers or was it. Yeah, he's killing tigers. Why is it called Killing Tigers? Because it's so hard? I, don't know where the expression from because it's not easy to kill a tiger in my. Okay brief tangent here, but we kinda got obsessed with this expression, which at least one Arjun story traces all the way back to a blockbuster hit jazz tune from nineteen seventeen tiger, rag. It's a really hard song, but it was so popular that musicians were made to play several times a night, so you'd get phrases like they still haven't paid me for last month's tiger or killed the tiger again last night, and from there at least story goes came expression killing teicher doing something so hard that you have to do to pay
"I'm a Feminist But..." Social Distance Dancing and Zoom
"I'm a feminist Bart today for the first time. I went into a dance studio in a socially distance way from my dance. Instructor, Melissa Bravo, so for those don't know. My lockdown project was dance lessons. Because I wanted to make meaning of the time and I also wanted to make a faster and I thought you know what dirty dancing montage makes the time go really fast. Just go well. They've done a bit of this and a bit of this and a bit of this and then three months passed. So I thought I would learn to dance for surveys INS, and so I hired a dance Tacoma. Pravo who's very close to me, we'd zoom together for four months now Danzig every single day. And today for the first time we went into a studio, as was legally allowed, stood far from each other, and we just staring at each other, because we've seen more of each other in lockdown, any other human being, but not in the flesh, and already like met her once before this all happened, so we were just staring at each other for ages going. It's really you. It's really it's like. And it was we were seeing a video game avatar come to live, and then she looked and she went. On my God. This room is so big. And I'm used to seeing you on the little screen. She said this room is so big unique, really small in here and I thought Oh my God. This room is making me look thin amazing. Attorney. was. As a feminist! To care about it. I've done a lot of myself to not have body image, but in that moment. I need to stand rooms on Stanton Cathedral. Wall by the because I'm also told and broad and everything and I I have those occasional heights, height breaths issues, and I just went I look amazing in this room. At the room now is that it's. Like My. Resume so I'm obviously just received also in a massive thrown in our look tiny 'cause I'm not petite woman and I was raised at a patriarchate and about you, and so I've been led to believe Titas better, and although every trains myself to a large extent every now and again I'm triggered insults our combat off, but compliments I go. Oh hold on my being lowered in my being loaded. So I'm a feminist spot. Even though have committed to not wearing makeup on zooms agreed, feminists got quite large audience and I didn't know if he was going to put out some. Other foot costs. This podcast. Let me let me put this on will. We will take a picture there in general. I was a bit concerned. That I was. GonNa say what you start that I'm not wearing. Makeup presumes I was like a theme. You are wearing fabrics. They cut right now. What are you talking about? Your Lloyd, the listeners? Myself You, make up! Tonight that I've actually this. War is chat scholar all up down? I saved me so much money. My seepage points cards dead. I'm not buying any makeup and it's quite liberating has got bit solid, so because see the comes, but my mate Moscow even, and it was like ten of pain ridiculous. Seem is that you sort of can't really see details so I mean I'm just saying I. have any makeup on I've just got these big glasses which I think of his face Armagh, and then he can't see whether I'm wearing Ireland or not I think and I've just gone for a beach natural hair. Luke, by which I mean I washed my head two days ago left, it didn't blow dry. It I just sort of hope to the best it really. It looks like I've just got out of bed
Achievement Vs. Fulfillment: Which Do You Want More?
"Right so. He has no last week at Lake POW with my family, and we had an amazing relaxing vacation, which is really good problem with the entrepreneurial brain. US EP entrepreneur personality types. When we try to relax, we can't and it drives US crazy. Because we gotta be moving forward momentum, right and so. I started thinking about projects and things I wanna to do things that are fun and like. I know some years know that I am working on eventually writing next book, which could be the bootstrap book Tunnicliffe Story, but the problem is Cleveland Stories and that done. Yes I. Don't know where it's going to go or source was kind of like this things in the back burner that I'm going to do someday. It's not a huge rush. But I'm excited for that, but I was like I almost any something fun to be creating right like I dunno, as a creator, I need to create sure has the same way right and and I'm creating. You know we have the New Tacoma Quebec's coaching programs creating a lot of fun i. want something just. Excited enjoy this is fun and lighthearted deadlines or thing just to create to create right. It's all I had an idea. For Project, I'm going to tell you the details, the name or anything. Other than it's, it's going to be the one and only time I ever talk about personal development. Anyway, right marketing guy that's. Sick with but obviously I've had access to a lot of people. Most people have access to in this world and its lifetime, and had a chance to learn from some amazing people and. Wanted to create this thing I don't know what it's GonNa. Be I duNNo, if it's a real book of it's like a book feminine, just giving away for free as the lead magnet, I have no idea. But. The title I'll tell you. The subtitle subtitle is the science of achievement. The art fulfillment in Vero Tony Robbins Talk. He talks about a lot of times to master masters signs of achievement where the had know the science and how to achieve anything, and then you have to master the art of fulfillment and funny, because he talks about a lot of times, but always struggle with that personally. Because he doesn't go deep into the whole thing you know, and so at Lake Powell this week thinking about this sure thing about the art and the science. And the science of treatment is lost. If I talked about anyway, you know here's the step-by-step, I? Here's the things you need to do things in this order and you have success, but the article films I personally struggle with like I'm such an achiever. I want to this this this and you. What's next on each next thing the next thing he moving towards? Running towards this this invisible goal that we don't really know what it is. I think a lot has producers and entrepreneurs and people like me and probably you. With the film, and like, how do you feel fulfilled and cinching? Is that the article film? It's tough because it's like art. It's not like the science sciences like here's the things to do to get the thing like this art fulfillment and I've always struggled and so as I was thinking about putting together this project. I started thinking about that and I started. Just think signs of cheating. My brain goes GonNa Mike Okay. I'm Jim achiever. Boom here's the thing. But then I started realizing that like the the the path of achievement the article film. It's almost the opposite like a union being and I served Rosina's like. Oh my gosh, they're looking deeper. Different topics have been concepts I was like. Oh, my gosh is true and so many things. Then you realized before so for example. This example shared kind of help s even what I'm. I had. Everyone talks about morning routines right. If you follow any of the fitness, guys, a health and fitness, the bio hackers the the entrepreneurs they all talk about you gotTa have more routine Tina's structure and things like that? You GotTa wake and you gotTa know. This always seems right. Talked about morning and starts accusing to do before you go to bed to increase your sleep patterns in all sorts, and and that's very scientific writes the science of achievement like do you want to have more success? You create habits. Can Habits been creating a routine thirteen? You stick the routines I think that outcome and eventually you have success, right and other big believer that actually so I'm making fun of by any stretch. It is part of the. The the science of Chiba having that right so if you by the way struggled achieving things in the past, maybe because you don't have. Scientific like you just do these things and the outcome happens just magic. It! Just it just works. So there's a science of the problem though is, is it doesn't create fulfillment. Stickney for second I did a podcast about this six months ago or something. I was in I was in. I was in Puerto Rico with brand new Bouchard big. Bunch people and one of the guys there there's getting create. Clements and Craig was We're sitting there and he started talking about. Our brains where he said you know a lot of. Older. Years of getting shorter wait times flying rallies, and actually true, so the reason why is because your brain looks for patterns of the same thing happening over and over and over again deletes them. because. It's like I. don't even remember this because dude. Every single morning we do see every single week every single thing. As, we said he said so literally, your brain is deleting nothing's happening, and so your life seems shorter because it literally is shorter because those memories, it's like Hey, every morning from nine from seven ten, the same things under remember this because the same deleted, and so because you use five hours in your memory every day and see life years go faster days go faster faster and your life goes faster. He said that the problem is he's like he's like. If you. If you want to extend you, know, extend time You have to create called him event horizons! PODCAST? Talk a lot about him, but it was interesting because he's like this mastermind group in the very first year we did it. We all in Wyoming would flew helicopters shotguns. We rode horses. It was crazy right and he was like I was an event. Horizons remember that experience for the rest of my life is the second year master. Makina Puerto, Rico it was amazing. Place. It was amazing. Is this is year? Three and we're in Puerto Rico is. I can have an amazing time. Basically, the problem is is this experience is so similar to lash. Most of it's going to get deleted from my memory, and it's just GonNa be on. Our brain will just lead because it's like Oh, this is routine done. This before is like you lose that and I think he was trying to get us to do some crazy night. 'cause he's like when you criticize horizon right now and he wanted to I can't remember what the thing was. We had some crazy thing like to stick this in our brains. We don't lose moment of this experience because it's it's. It was so similar to think before and horizon, start thinking. I'm like. Oh, my Gosh, like if you think about these things, this is the union the Yang of of fulfillment half of. The are the the science of achievement in the article. In the game because if you want, do you want to cheat me? When she the thing you need to create structure and routine and the singer where you just do the things that create the result at the end. Is, you do that, and so because boom towards you're getting achievement, right with problems, your brains lean section every single day and I'll send your your days. Your lives words. You're not fulfilled. You're not getting the article film that because of that, and so the article film is the opposite. It's the literal opposite of this first thing right it. Is You coming in? In, saying we're not going to do routine, we have to do these crazy things with extensive life extensive happens. We fill fulfillment in the moment, and it's the scene in the Yang

Seattle police clear 'occupied' area, make arrests
"Police in Seattle spent weeks responding to protest with patients. During the height of the George Floyd protests. People took over a small part of the city. They call that the Capitol Hill organized protest or chop. They called for changes in policing and the local police gave them space until the mood soured, and police moved in yesterday, NPR's Martin case reports from Seattle. The chops started when police here made a tactical decision to abandon the local precinct building in the face of huge nightly protests three weeks ago, But early yesterday morning they were back and enforce. Everybody was ordered to leave the streets and park. Those who didn't were arrested, where, by 10 a.m. The remaining protesters have been pushed to a perimeter, closely guarded by police returns, is one of the elder statesman of the shop. A man with a little force and little force came back to him. But we already Bay history. The city came in with more than just cops. They brought in social services for the homeless people who joined the camp as well as heavy machinery to remove the barriers, tents and other debris from the streets and the adjoining park. They say they'll have to keep the area off limits to non residents for 10 days as crews assess damage and clean things up. I was just done by the amount of graffiti, garbage and property destruction. That's the police chief Carmen Best. Weeks ago, she said that abandoning the precinct was not her decision. And now she seems gratified that the police are back. If anybody wants to protest and do so peacefully and exercise their right, we certainly encouraged that. What we can't have that we saw there where people were entrenched where crimes and lawlessness were occurring where people were being assaulted. Rape robbery on as you know, two murders. It was those murders, part of a recent rash of shooting incidents in and around the chopped that seemed to have pushed the city tow Act. The defenders of the chops say they're not to blame for those shootings was all gang violence. Every single shooting was gang related. This is James Madison, or at least that's the name he goes by here. He's well known as having been part of chops, Volunteer security effort, a photo of him holding a semiautomatic rifle of the entrance. The chop was picked up by websites around the world. But yesterday he was ambling around the new perimeter, making small talk with the police and lamenting the difficulty that he and his colleagues had had keeping this neighborhood safe. So towards the end when the shooting started to happen. At that point, we decided we're gonna start pulling out because he saw what we refer to as a power vacuum that power vacuum has also felt by some local business owners. They sued the city last week, accusing it of abandoning them. Residents also felt the strain to hear Has Ebola and his wife have an apartment inside the chop, he says. While he supports the protester's aims, Toward the end, he started to feel as if he was being held hostage. We were watching fights happen almost everyday daily. So like I was jockeying for position and giving orders and authority and somebody's waving a gun and saying I'm in charge of some gestures of with the band says No. I'm in charge and give us a taste of what being a lawless World would look like even some of the most dedicated supporters of the protest here have come around to the idea that the occupation camping out was a mistake. Asia Morgan is a young African American woman from Tacoma. I'm a believer that if we are going to protest, we should keep it moving, be like water. Guerrilla warfare. This isn't this isn't something that you just sit and fight like this is a constant battle, and city officials say they welcome that the police chief repeated her support for lawful protests and a continuing conversation about reimagining police. Well, the mayor said she's already planning to cut tens of millions of dollars from the Police Department budget.

I won't say special about you. Because I believe we all have the same human abilities possibilities. Not Everybody can do the same thing, but there has to be something. That is different because there are lots of people who try and there are lots of people who want it, and there are lots of people who have the desire. What was the difference? Do you think for you to difference to me? was I paid attention to what people did before me whether it was right or wrong? Everybody's successful as a for now. You laid a blueprint You know I can go down and Lis- from. To actors entrepreneurs to self-made Mogul Jay. Z, look at Tyler Perry. You look at Puff I mean. What am I trying to achieve I want to be great, so that motivates me, so things separates me is my draw my driver's other people's success. It's so interesting because you get compared a lot to Eddie Murphy because not since Eddie Murphy has anybody. You recently brought Roka's record at the Nokia, theatre. In Two thousand eleven during his laugh at my pain tour Kevin's. Ince's. At L. A.'s Nokia theatre were record breaking with over one point. "I promise I'm not just contradicting you. For the sake of contradicting this isn't going to happen every single OPEC of my actual theory on Spicy fries and I've thought about this realistically when Fraser Pretty Heavily seasoned to me. It's usually a sign that the fries aren't done well. some actually not a big fan of like highly seasoned fries. It's actually less season the little salts good. That's why mistake fries fan. I know a lot of people don't really like steak rice but the potatoes man and so they'll that worries me on you. Why do you hate the North Carolina courage. I don't. It's it's it's nothing to be done is going to be pissed. It's nothing to do with the teams yet everything to do with spicy fries and I just don't necessarily feel good examples. The TACO Bell Nacho fries right. That's solely exists because Taco bell has a giant warehouse full of crappy potatoes that they have to get rid of and they they do it by saying. Let's just glob these nacho cheese. No one will tell the difference and that's Kinda hokey rights for that reason baked potatoes and I think you know you've got your uh-huh Christian press. Hopefully might be healthy. We'll see you know but if not there's a lot of different ways that this could mix up just like there's a lot of different ways that you can address address a baked potato if nothing else. I fully believe that Becky Sauerbrun is the queen of baked potatoes. That's an interesting take to have their and and also just like the versatility with a big potato right with spicy fried. You're getting by seasoning on a fresh baked potato. It's really what you want to get out of it. Do you want to have like the cheesy Broccoli Baked Baked Potato Chili style potato. Do you want to have the classic. Sour cream and baked potato like the world is your choice theory. You can the world is your baked potato. EIB like you can just bill out it whenever you want there. The next match up to me might be the most interesting one on the schedule that we're looking at right now. This is sky blue at rate. FC mashed potatoes potatoes and gravy versus GNOCCHI. This is a tale of two potato dishes like you almost couldn't get too far. They're on the spectrum so a lot of ways. It's a mood type of thing which says a lot about sky Bluesy mood food but food team aren't they eh exactly so mike going Sunday dinner with the mashed potatoes and gravy area. Are you going to be a little fancy in your pants with Gnocchi. You know shout out to sky blue because I don't want mashed potatoes all the time but when you want them they're not nothing else can substitute. You know it's just that one soft comforting food and you know they're always there. You might not want them all the time but they're there for you so I'm going Sky Blue Right now. I'm looking at my selections chosen. Listen fries and baked potatoes I've. I've risked anything really out there. I'm looking at this going like hard. Greenie potato heavy dishes changes at I'm almost thinking about like what are they eating this week especially. It's easier all in one day so it's like well. I had fries for breakfast so many carbs at a Baker yes. This is turning to real. I'm I so promise you. I'm not trying to contradict you at every piece. I've taken the not on this one the I just I feel like I need a pallet. Cleanser need to try something a little bit different. Let me tell you something. If you get just a solid Turkey as to go with that Nogi Yeah. You're gonNA you know you're GonNa be glad you did so and that's hard because as a solid played a mashed potatoes and gravy. Is there anything you know. Did you hit that. you know there's much beating night then. You need to close encounters thing. you know this is different. This is important. You do the sculptures and there's a lot of stuff but but I'm sticking with no game to go with with rain. I've seen that one. Let's head to the final match up of September twenty. First this is the HOUSTON DASH at the Portland Thorns Tater tots Patine. I ABC feeling I know Mike's GonNa. Do what are you doing. I mean is this even a question. Putin yeah yeah. It's not even know. Are you going. That's no. I'M GONNA be controversial in this take. I don't think anyone really really actually likes tater tots. You have people who say it and they act like Ridley excited leg woo dictatorship thoughts. They will make it like a fun. Remember when you were a kid type of thing and so I think it's tremendous but come on it's the it's the really the lowest form of potato and there may come a case where it sounds sounds good every now and again. They've been decent tater tots high just don't I firmly believe that if people searched in their heart tater tots would be close to the last thing they would ask ask for is better than no potato yes but isn't yeah so yes but mm-hmm yeah and also like man. If you've had good Putin it is. Oh yes unreal but this is another classic case of it kind of depends on what Putin routinely getting that night on the pitch am I getting quality robust slow cooked gravy with with solid cheese. Kurds well spiced Are you giving me package gravy and cheese WHIZ. You know if you're coming to the pitch with that no but I feel like we're gonNA come strong with really solid base. soluble tea to close out the twenty first closed the night want to bring this into the real world finding who team for sale at Providence Park wouldn't surprise me that much no at least food truck somewhere yeah true yeah. There's gotTa be a we actually had a in we had any team tracks the college the college that might enable both lived in for a while while there was a Putin truck that was going around and it was called the gravy train and that just happy that that was worth it so so that's everything for the twenty-first twenty first. Let's head now. Wednesday the twenty fifth we have to at one point. It was just one match now. It's going to be to a first thing. We'd had the spirits dash fries versus. Tater tots Mike Kuti image all about the Washington spirit and their fries yeah again I just not I have it on good authority that rose lavelle big fan of fries yeah and that's a tough place to place to set you know big big on fries and this is one that you know what I'm going to say. They're just GONNA. I think they're going to put a little cheese. He's on those fries and by that I mean this is GonNa be a big win. because fries versus taught so as a big win so you're you're looking at that that very basic six side but it's not even a comparison for sure now to the match that we didn't expect to be on Wednesday the twenty fifth that said heavy rains in Tacoma as we're recording this and of course that may I mean if you're a baked potato or if you're well nobody you don't. WanNa be sitting in the rain do you. I mean that's that's. That's not an enjoyable meal experience if you think about it so I'm glad that they're for the sake. Make of atmosphere at this potato themed restaurant that they're waiting until everything is good stuff but royals rain. FC A baked potato versus Naoki and again. I'm going with the baked potato because look we were supposed to get a week earlier but for the baked potato that just means more time eh to bake to get just nice and soft you know it's it's it's ready to go. Sometimes the the location is going to play a role for me here and if I'm sitting in the Seattle area area I feel like I'm GonNa have an easier time finding a good bowl not that I am finding a solid baked potato. I don't know that you could count out it. Call Seattle like a baked potato sound is are there some at satellite boise combines but I feel like that's something you look forward to like. You could probably very easily find really and so by the way if you're era emerald city dweller and you think them ridiculous and like there's a potato hut somewhere that makes the best baked potato in the world. Please let me know I would love to know that information grip because I'll I'll go to ivers. I'll get some salmon shattered little immediately. Go to potato land and try that out but I I'm GONNA go with with Yogi on this one just yeah that just feels right to me. That's everything for Wednesday the twenty fifth. Let's head to Saturday the twenty eighth. We're down to four for more of these. Matchups might just say no. We got the courage at spirits. This is actually this brother brother sister versus sister sorry this is spicy. Fries versus fries big rivalry. Yeah big time here comes down to how much you like spice away. I'm going with the classic stick to the fundamentals right none none. None of this show off stuff. I mean are the courage fast asked yeah. Are they entertaining yeah but you can't beat the fundamentals of the Washington Spirit fries. I think it's spirit fries. I kind of really liked debt free spear fries. This is actually going to talk about like my feeling and spicy price in general but when it's it's it's put next to fry's this is just kind of like pedaling for maybe tonight's the night that I I take a little bit differently and I think a lot for me. It comes down to again. I'm GONNA Bates The Sun location if this was in North Carolina which is interesting because I want to say if this was in North Carolina. This was more ingrained in the south and it was in that area I might trust the spy spicy frazzled because it's probably got some Tony Sanchez seasoning. You know it's done. It's done fairly well that way. Eh I'm in DC. I'm not sure nearly at something they hold on some with you. I'M GONNA stick with rises well but that's close one this. This might be the most boring matchup on paper but I think it has a lot of weight. This is rose. FC At Ascott Red Stars Baked potato versus hashbrowns. I'm really interested to see where you're gonNA. Take this interesting. What time is being played. This is important see. This is what I did earlier. Earlier roles of see spirit is a Red Sun. Losing rents are set my back yet. That's why I couldn't find it is eight PM Eastern so in Chicago. That would be seven. PM Central Want hashbrowns rounds at seven PM on its face on its face hashbrowns obviously better but are you know is this hashbrowns at at the peak of the day..

This brings you back. I'm i'm told this is <hes> not that it's a story but i'm sure said this fact on this podcast before but being in the the top three triple jumpers at my school making it into the state state whatever competition it was because i was in the top three of of the three triple jumpers at my high school so i'm very glad to be in the top three of the three ninja warrior podcasts that exist ah darren. I think that that's a high honor for us it. My name is spelt. My name is twitter. I mean my name is pretty pretty weird to be fair. Never been alita on us now. That's true that's true in canada but there are also aren't leaders that are spelled differently like l. E. l. e. d. a. The common spelling really the green number yeah so there's a greek myth called leader in the swan which is spelled l. e. so so when i say server so i introduced myself to many people each day and say like lead. I'll be taking care of you and the number one thing. It was like oh like lead in the slot and i'm like no. Do you ever get like okay lisa. Oh my god my official. I think i have a tweet about this but i was like my like official work work greeting hi there lisa just like every email that i've ever gotten like my name is right there. It's right there on those. There's this famous people that are still the same way but <hes> yeah leader l._e._d. The greek ways the most famous leader. There's a country singer named lita ford. That's spelled my way and there's also a wrestler whose wrestling name is just leader googled alita and the first thing that came up with lita wrestler yeah leave demoss us rita christine dumas christine demoss better known as the reign lita issue related alexandre dumas's another leader no as as as you are the one of the top three triple jumpers and we are one of the top the american indoor air pockets. I believe i am the top three. Most famous lead us on twitter. I mean i think clearly. I don't think this lead accounts. It's not her real name. So that's one down okay so then i'm number two lita ford is definitely the most famous and she let me tell you she occupies all of the first page of the results so the ford nowhere to be seen here yeah. I'm on the third page. I still haven't seen any it's all w._w._e. Lee is she spelled the same way yeah all right there she is. She is on the same page yeah. I don't think i'm really ever going to come. Come up on this but i think i am the most. I am the the third on twitter. Maybe there should be a way to check when you google taryn. There's there is a gun company named taryn tactical and that is apparently the first thing that comes up now and glucose. You'll turn oh that's that's fabulous. Oh i just put leader into twitter and for people the third one there you go there you go. I'm before lead afford but that's might be catered to me. Which should i be anyway. The vegan rest. I mean the the wrestler litas also being so the about the name and so is the person who owns the twitter handle lead. A tweets russa's what i wanted to tweets way more followers than me the terry third on page three of google google tan. Oh wow yeah. I think lead a tweet to me in twenty years because her her bio on twitter is active active writer and editor sports make me crazy yoga relaxes me. Yeah not not wasn't off she she hit she hit the buzzer so she was the first to hit a buzzer because she did it in qualifying and the others did it in the city finals so they didn't hit a buzzer when they did it so i think that's why ultimately they went with sandy because she did it in qualifying and so when the air it qualifies obviously gonna come before finals even though they did the other thing i and ultimately when you cut to the clip it's way any more satisfying to have them hitting a buzzer but they've been just keep going to the salmon ladder and still it's still does feel like it's pretty arbitrary area that she did it dan radically i and and now she gets all the credit in the superstardom that they claim to get which is really getting superstar. I started on wow taryn famous sandy zimmerman heater under minor well. She's talked about vow..

"That it really really really taxes your grip because you're holding on with one hand and you're swinging and moving bar so like as we saw like if you miss even once it's really just hanging on by the tips of your fingertips and that is going to severely tax your grip strength so you need to be very very perfect and precise is on the floating monkey bars and if you manage to get through all of that then your grip strength i imagine is very taxed when you try to take on the northwest passage and that's why we saw the people did not even close to completing the northwest passage because their grip strength has already gone exactly it's too much of similar things and it's also too much room for error with one small mistake like one small mistake takes you out which is not the case on every obstacle and not for nothing northwest passage also requires a lot of precision with cooking the things into the things so north ayrshire we haven't even described you grab lab these like little handles with upward hooks and you have to you know stick them into the wall and then hook like lock them in place as with the hook up if that makes any sense and so you have to go down as slanted sort of slope there and then in back up and then down again and then you dismount nobody managed to get up the the second the upward slope. This qualifying for a finals courses too hard. It's disproportionate. I understand that there's always going to be variation between some of the courses but it's not fun when you don't expect anybody to finish after in the episode i i. I actually don't mind it overall. I think the biggest problem i had with it was that one of the major really difficult obstacles was in the qualifying course and so because of that we saw a lot of athletes drop that really should have been qualifying it was kind of a crap shoot as to whether or not you got through the lightning bolts and i feel like if the lightning bolts had been a back half of the course obstacle kohl than it would have been a little more balanced even just put northwest passage earlier in the course and p. most people i think would have been able to get through that finicky ones toward the end where if you fall there. You still have a good chance of qualifying but yeah it was. It was definitely a rough if not here maybe they may needed to make sure that northwest passage looks really bad because they can never use it again unless they go to the pacific northwest again salt lake you can take the northwest passage and put it in the baltimore qualifiers for next year. Honestly like northwest passage to me. Reminded me a lot of the i think they called that the hang climb or something from stage three that judicial used to fall on every single year. It reminded me a lot of that. Honestly maybe even a little more difficult probably a lot more difficult to be honest because you have to put it in a certain spot rather than just grab so i i could see that as the stage three obstacle in that spot after the body prop like that's how that's how tough that one is the not have to call it the pacific west west. I i mean do they have these sort of southwest passage. You could still be passing northwest here. We didn't they would have to face the entire stage three to face north west so that you can pass nervous. The vegas asserted the southwest though you can be aiming northwest saying or is it sponsored by kim kardashian daughter north west there yeah that's it. Did you know that that was the name of christian ashton and kanye west's daughter first name north in last name western yeah yeah well..

"Up, Tacoma's cool. Tacoma reminds me a lot of Decatur really not know whether that wasn't a commentary about Decatur. Yeah. It just Tacoma has a lot. It's just cool. Cool cool stuff to do much more affordable neighborhoods. Good people good times. I know cool people. What would I what should you do into? Come and go down to the waterfront, there's some good places down there. Anthony's that's a good seafood restaurant. If you like seafood. Oh brother is going to be in Seattle old old towns. Give brother is let me let me give him some places to go to all right. Anna. What's more disrespectful Maria's Randall guaranteeing, a win and handing Hugh Jackson of football or Josh Allen flexing on Jalen Ramsey. I don't know. Jalen Ramsey earned it from Josh Allen. He Josh Allen was terrible. And then he beat his team. So I would have done in two areas. Randall handing Hugh Jackson, the football was pretty crazy. Intercepted the ball. And then ran over and handed in the ball. I was even more crazy day. Hugh, didn't take it as an insult. God avenue in Panama and a back now. The nicest person in the world. Yes. Which is what makes Baker mayfield's opinion, even more ridiculous. You think he did it out of spite? No, he got fired got another job offer. What was he supposed to do? Ama. What's the worst owed bleep moment? You've had in radio. I don't know probably as a producer. Like planning on having a guest at a certain time. And then the guest doesn't call in or something like that. Or maybe a guest phone dies in the middle of the segment or something. For a segment is starting and you were supposed to have a piece of audio. And you don't have it ready. I've ever really had one host because there's a host you can decide what happens if something bad is happening, you can fix it as a producer. You've thrown off the entire show because the host doesn't know what you're about to do. Now. As.

"I have to balance the probabilities that loads will be excessive on one side or the strength will be too low on the other side both of which incidentally are full of uncertainty usually and so it's a probabilistic problem and we have to make sure that there's an adequate margin for safety between the two of course there's no such thing i have to say you as absolute safety contrary to popular belief zero risk doesn't exist engineers have to do the calculations and get their sums right to make sure that those margins are there and society expects them to do so which is why it's all the more alarming when things like this happen i'm not gonna go into the reasons for these tragedies but they are part of the reason why technological change happens quite slowly nobody wants this to happen clients don't want this to happen on their projects obviously and yet of course they want innovation innovation is vital for ngo as an engineer it's part of my dna it's in my blood i couldn't be very good engineer if i wasn't wanting to innovate but we have to do so from a position of knowledge strength and understanding there's no good taking leap in the dark and civilization has learned from mistakes since the beginning of time no one more so than engineers some of you may have seen this film before this is a very famous tacoma narrows bridge collapse in tacoma washington state nine hundred forty the bridge became known as galloping gertie because she she is a female i don't know she was wobbling like this for quite a long time and no just this twisting motion the bridges far too flexible it was designed by leeann massif no stranger to suspension bridge design but in this case he pushed the limits just that little bit too far and paid the price thankfully nobody was killed but this bridge collapse stops suspension bridge development dead in its tracks for ten years nobody thought about doing another suspension bridge there were none when they did emerge in the nineteen fifties they were an understandable overreaction there's sort of over safe was response to what had happened but when it did occur in the mid sixties there was indeed a step change and innovation attornal logical step change this is a seven bridge in the uk no just the odor now mickley streamlined cross section in the center that it's also a box which makes it very torsion stiff that twisting motion which we saw tacoma would not happen here and it's also really lightweight and as we'll see moment like.
