"Obviously i'm trying to look recent. Adp like the last two days for sony michelle but i seriously doubt that there is a running back that you're going to be able to take where you can take sony michelle which i imagine would be after pick one hundred that has a legitimate chance to become the starting running back or hey more legitimate chance. Become the starting running back to michelle your best bet to get a true. Starting running back late in the draft is probably sony. Michelle must be barring injury All right so let me see. Today's the twenty seventh. Adp since the twenty fifth on nfc. I have no idea how many drafts this is. So did they tell you. It's on the page. Where does it say that on the right side. It tells you how many teams took player. Oh who's oriole cookies. So just thirty drafts. If that's the number next to the number will be the same next to mccaffrey. Click all those thirty drafts. That's a decent sample size for today's what's it say hundred twelfth right after james connor. I'd i'd take him earlier than that. And i think i'd take him over. Connor to kenyan drake or michelle. I think i might be feeling michelle over drake. Okay no it sounds weird. Sounds so weird. But specially in non pr half pr. I i liked the value. i have to admit it. Hey can i rant about something real quick you mentioned Dinner rolls yeah. Go ahead annoying. Is it when you get the cold butter that you can't even spread on the dinner. Rolls is the role hot. It doesn't really know you. Typically the role is not hot. Hot enough to melt the butter. You'd so you can't spread eagle little chunks of it at breaks off. Gimme the war in their. Guess what. I still eat it. Yeah but give me the warm butter come on. I know a fan expected to be ready for week. One he has a leg injury. Kennedy golladay has still not practiced tomorrow chaser. Kenny golladay jas dak. Prescott appears to be a little more tyler. Boyd or kenny boyd. Who all right got annoyed. Swear all right how about non pr. I said what i said. Boy it's still okay Boy stephen holder of the athletic reports expects that kyle granton will be featured. Pass catching tight end for the colts. I i remember watching him in. Preseason game i think i'd have to double check my notes just to make sure when i. It was the game that i was there against carolina. I remember him. I'd have to double check my notes by. Remember him looking quick. He's got a chance. It's agrees a great picking dynasty. And if he's on the waiver wire and your dynasty league you should be able to get him for next to nothing. Okay dave. Here's a key question from landon. Jk dobbins or miles sanders for the exact same price. Who would you keep abedin's plus you. Did you happen there. You sneezed not only did i.

"It when i call when i had a play in the playbook called mellow which was just give the ball to the best kid and everybody get out of the way way. We ran mellow a lot of my team. I lo- i was high will. Just give it to the best kidding. Get out of the way. That's twelve year olds coaching. We went down this rabbit hole but one thing when it comes to coaching the coach of the green bay packers coming out saying that aaron rodgers will not be playing this preseason. That's that's a great segue nice transition. That's why you gotta get us back on track rest up and comers here and the guest game yeah adam schefter tweeting out. The mat will force it today. Rogers quote most likely not play in the preseason at all so get ready packers fans lot of jordan love here on the preseason now only three preseason games starting on thursday the preseason starts wad of jordan love in green bay concerning to you. How do you take this news when you work with rich eisen. You have shorthand with rich. You guys have worked together for a long time. Yes you know what rich needs in order to have success. Sometimes rich needs to come in early other times. He might not need to you. Have a good shorthand with him. Because you've been doing it for a while. Were you know what he needs. The great players the great ones. They know what they need to succeed. If aaron rodgers comes and says hey coach. I'd like to get a series for week. Three the preseason. Then give him that right but if he says i don't need to play in the preseason i'm good then give him that he knows what he needs. The great ones always do so aaron rodgers sitting out the preseason has nothing to do with the last six months back and forth that we've experienced with aaron and the team and all that stuff. It's him being stages career where he's achieved a certain amount. He knows what he needs in order to have. Success doesn't mean you have to be older. If patrick mahomes came to andy reid said coach. I don't wanna play the preseason this year you say okay ready because i know. I know that you know what you need for success. I know if daniel jones comes to coach and says coach. I don't wanna play in the push back on that one yet. No judge. We're gonna fight prove to me that you know what you need in order to have success. I think i know better. If if i'm judge and i totally get that and obviously air rogers doesn't need to play in the preseason you know but i'm just wondering strikes me as kind of an odd move. I think that if you're aaron rodgers and you're upset at at jordan love being drafted kind of in the forest. Why do you want to give him more reps to show that he may be more ready than people thought to take your job. That's that's totally fine. It's like your junior varsity and there's a freshman in the jv who's going forty. You're like all right because next year. I'm coming back and i'm a senior and i'll be starting to guard doesn't matter go for forty the jv game. Aaron rodgers is sitting there on the sidelines. saying jordan. love ball out. I'll join love goes for four touchdowns in three hundred yards in week. Two sure because guess what. I'm starting so what does it matter. I don't know or maybe maybe this is like aaron. Working with the front office of jordan does ball out they can just trade him and get something out of him. Well how much better is that. What are the packers. Need more to see aaron rodgers. Go out there and have festival series and run the risk of getting hurt or you showcase jordan. Love balls out next thing you know you make a move. And you got amari. Cooper catching passes mma from aaron rodgers. I'm just. I'm just talking i'll out. I'm just trying to wonder that thought process here but all of these guys. I didn't get it off the table right now. Why not say. I'm not gonna be playing this preseason because in case you forgot. I'm aaron rodgers. Well one one quarterback who is going to be playing this preseason good indianapolis guys Carson wentz out knocking to be playing We all soom. Jacobson was to kind of take control frank reich said as much to. He's going to be in the driver's seat. Wait hold on. Not so fast. Sam l. injure back rookie hook. 'em tuesday marked. The first time since eligible was getting first team wraps frank reich said he would continue to split first team reps with jacob easson quote. Not anything jacobs doing wrong reich said meritocracy same as looked good so we decided to split it up. The athletic stephen holder covers a team said that eligible last week had people in the organization buzzing with his performance. This is the kind of football talk. You love to have an august. This is also to see because if allergy is going to be in the mix either as a starter or backup. You gotta get him ready ready. What what better way to get ready to have him play with the first team. Sam had high expectations heading into his final year. Texas heisman trophy candidate didn't quite work out that way but finds himself in a position. We talked about timing and opportunity being everything. This is next man up at his. Finest sam's gonna have a real shot to compete for the starting quarterback position a real shot. And maybe this is. Why indianapolis doesn't wanna move mountains to go. Get a nick foles or move mountains to go. Get some some other quarterback who might be out there. They might have their one-two punch in house. You know it's funny last week. I think we're talking about this. There were some odds when rich was on the phone. There were odds. Put out on who vegas thought. The colts one starting was gonna be jacob. Innocent wasn't an option..

"You know, I think there's this temptation to write a fairy tale about Hank Aaron. You know, to talk about his life in this rosy way. And it does not do justice to the hatred and the vileness that he had a face. It's impossible to explain or summarize the type of horrors that he faced. What I'm saying is his very right to exist. Was challenged at every single turn that he endured it and he kept on is not minimized The awfulness of it. It shows how strong he was it just how special he was. It shows how dignified he Woz. I know some of you when I say what Like, What did he deal with? How bad was it? Looking at sweet right now from Stephen Holder. In the Tweet reads this old quote from Hank Aaron in The New York Times. Obituary just left me speechless. I have not seen this before. This is an excerpt from The New York Times quote. It's a quote Quote as the 20th anniversary of his home run feet approached in the early 19 nineties, he told sports columnist William C. Rhoden of The New York Times. Quote. April 8th 1974 really led up to turning me off on baseball. Quote. It really made me see for the first time a clear picture off what this country is about. My kids had to live like they were in prison because of kidnap threats. Had to live like a pig in a slaughter camp. I had to duck. I had to go out the back door of ballparks. I had to have a police escort with me all the time. Was getting threatening letters every single day all of these things and put a bad taste in my mouth and it won't go away. They carved a piece of my heart away. That's Hank Aaron. And this is what he was dealing with. As he was chasing Babe Ruth. His kids had to live like they were in prison because of kidnap threats. Death threats. Kidnap threats, quote I to live like a pig in a slaughter camp. Had a duck had to go out the back door ballparks. So when you think about Hank again, there's that temptation, right? This fairy tale like he had this fairy tale existence anything but Anything but 1 806 368686 is the number one Dyle. Go to Madison, Wisconsin, Spencer Spencer. Nice to have you on. How are you? The top one today, Romy helpful man. Um, you know, I grew up in the great state of Wisconsin. And when a lot of time County stadium A child of the eighties. So You know you got young Molitor fingers. Stoughton, Ugur. The list goes on and on, but there's always a presence in that park. It was number 44. And number 44. Who Decision to come back to us to finish his career. He didn't have to do that. It shows the loyalty, dignity. Class. The grief that defined what I called until today. The greatest living American. All right now I left. I left Wisconsin. Went to college came back to go to grad school at Madison. But a little coin in my pocket. And you know the first thing that I bought With a detailed Old school powder blue. The room number 44. You know what Roman? There's no name on the back of that jersey. And you know why? Because if you don't freaking know who number 44 is there something wrong with you? All right, so fast forward 15 years. My son and I saw him. I get emotional. My son and I heard the home run Derby. Appear in the twin cities where I live now. We're both rock and powder blue. We see the hammer and his wife, Billy, getting onto an elevator. I got a baseball in my hand. Come up to him. Mr Aaron. Sample B by actually talking to you. Would you please autograph the ball for me? He says no. What had followed my son. I said you won't sign for me. Will you sign for my son? His wife, really elbows him in the ribs and says You signed for that boy. So get down and you know he's not a king. He had a hip replaced. It leans down. Asked my son's name. Finds ball Takes his hand. War hero. War icon. War goat. And war example. What a human being should be. In our country out, Spencer, Thanks So much for sharing that story. This is what I mean. Why say that His very existence was challenged at every single turn. Like on the surface. We're talking about somebody just playing baseball. But because he played it so well. Racist and the venom came flying for him. Death threats living in hiding kidnap threats of his kids. Police escorts One of the greatest ballplayers ever having to exit stadiums through the back door. Living in fear. Did I say death threats? Kidnapping threats. Why Because he was really good at baseball. Because of his race. And he said it was at that point was at that time that I realized. Impart what this country was about, and they carved out a piece of my heart. That's sad. It's really sad and really troubling. The fact that he endured that here's the thing about this too. It's how dignified this man was This how strong this man was the fact that he endured all of that. Had the impact on people that he had Says so much about him. I mean the burden and the weight that he had to carry. Face all of that, and he carried himself the way he did. Says all you need to know about the dignity and the strength and the courage of the man. That said a lot about a lot of us. About the country. To be the best thing ever right. He's got was chasing an icon. This guy was chasing the most hallowed mark in all of sports. It should have been the best thing ever. And in some ways it was one of the worst things ever. All right. We will take a short time out. If you want, respond to it and share your thoughts. Go right ahead. I've got plenty of time between now and the end of the program. I do wanna talk about some other things we have lost to get to today that your top story that's most important thing, of course. When we come back. A little fun with the guy with the gigantic head..

"Donald the coaches not being hired to develop whatever whoever they have in mind it number two and I don't think they can even know you know, I mean, it's You're looking at quarterbacks. You're studying prospects. But now that the season is over is when you really get into the nitty gritty of that, as a zit is a front office guy. And so I would assume that Joe Douglas is going to get the coach who best works with him. And then they will collaborate together to make a decision on Sam Donald versus whoever is available in the draft, and it may not even be As much about him. Donald as it is about Jack Wilson and Justin Fields or Trey Lance. I mean, if in other words Don't think that will take somebody to just because They like their just because you know they have the second overall pick and Sam Donald's been there three years. I think if somebody blows them away They will take that player at number two overall, but I don't think that they'll just take somebody just to swap him out Fucking garden. Will Branson here on the show? I don't wanna go down this rabbit hole too much, but I am curious and you sounded into it. If you're the top coaching candidate in the NFL, and you have your choice. Do you want the shirt thing? And Justin Herbert and that Chargers organization or do you want the Jags? The roster flexibility Trevor Laurence, and a lot more draft picks behind Lawrence. What's the better job? Yeah, I mean it. Zraly. Tough question. We debated on the pictures. Podcast. People can check it out. We did a emergency. Doc Peterson Podcast was plotted the Eagles in there as well. Um, I think it's So I am of the belief that Trevor Laurence is a one of the four best quarterback prospects to come out of college in the last Thank you for Elway, Peyton, Angel Lock and Lawrence and So it's hard for me to say I wouldn't take Trevor large in that spot. I do think that you have to live as you point out. I mean, like you have to lend a little bit. Of you just deference to travel to just to just in her because he did it for a year at the NFL level. I mean, what you're hoping Trevor Large does. In his first year is what Justin Herbert just did. You know, I mean, it's always like best case like he just broke most of the meaningful records. Rookie records look incredible. Nobody expected him to do that in his first year, totally different player that he was an organ. And so I think that matters. He has a year that on film now, Baker Mayfield was awesome his first year and then regressed. We've seen plenty of quarterbacks take steps back. Um Charges. Job also comes with a significant concern and that you have to play any reading Patrick Holmes 20 year, probably for the next 10 years, so that you know you're borderline playing for second in that division. Whereas in, you know, in the Air Sea south. You take that job in Jacksonville and Philip Rivers is retiring either after this year or the next or he's gone and Indy. Um, you know, Houston is a hot mess. And Tennessee is a good team, but certainly not the chief's. By any stretch of imagination. The one thing for me that would probably be more important than anything is if I'm a head coach, and I think the tiebreaker from you wouldn't be the division wouldn't be the quarterback. Would be finding out. What the what? What? What freedom I would have is a coach to be able to bring in a GM that I could work with in Jacksonville because I think you know somebody like urban Meyer's going to get pretty much carte blanche. Given his, you know his status. Bring in. Whoever he wants is the GM. Somebody like an Arthur Smith, who is a great candidate, But you know, not as big a name. They may not have that cachet with shot. Khan may have some of the GM voice on him. In other words. It's very possible in all, most likely if the Jags don't get urban Meyer that they didn't go out and hire a GM who will then hire the coach, and so that power structure to me would matter a lot. Comparing it to going on working with Tom Celester, who, by the way is now hiring. His third had churches well, which means that his time is fairly short if it doesn't work out. Will Branson here on the show? Brinson. Speaking of the Colts, some breaking news from Stephen Holder cold. Veteran left tackle Anthony Castonzo has announced his retirement. Wow, that is not not great for the colt. Um e mean, you would have paid Anthony Cassandra to retire before Philip Rivers, right. You get started when it's done addressing the year after Andrew luck right now, I guess that's not right. But yeah, yeah, that Z. In that zoo tough loss for the Colts. Certainly he was he was missing the playoff game and they protected find there's been talk about moving Quentin Nelson over the left tackles of all world. Guard. You know, the kind of hate to even hear that bars just go figure out a way to shore up the tackle position instead. But that's a big blow for the Colts. You know in 2021. I mean, he is a They had their offensive line and they're run game is sort of the strength of what they do. Jonathan Taylor came on like gangbusters, and now they're gonna be messy Stosic. Will Branson here on the show? So I I had a Cleveland won in that game. I bet on Cleveland on the Moneyline and certainly with the points. Yeah. Yep. Felt. I mean, we talked on the show I had. No, I was just pure gut. It was just pure guy Just found another one of those things. You know what? You know what The weird thing was. Bill is that So the line is Pittsburgh minus five. And it's announced that there's this Brown's covert outbreak and their head coach and all pro All Pro Bowl guard are going to be good at this game. And then the gates in the light Open back up in the Steelers minus six. And then it comes back to five before kickoff. At that point, I think with feelers my five when the cover news is announcing I'd get like 10 or something I could window. It. Right back in 65 girls like OB Scrooge like If if Kevin to fancy head coach missing the game doesn't move the line off point, something is something reeks here. Oh, I drive zero confidence in Cleveland now against, I know cancer. He's a whole different animal than the Steelers do. Um, this game gets played 100 times, right, 100, Different alternate universes. How many times you think the Browns actually win this thing? An arrowhead? Um.

"Don't call on after this. I don't call on actor that against. I'll just play one more time after that. And at this point, I mean, she knows she's probably gonna be out of a gig here soon. So go ahead and fight back for once, because you're right. Listen, that job you're going to get pressure. Your tough questions were coming. That's part of what the job description is. What? Some of these folks deal with this crap like that guy from Playboy. Brian carom. Who's in there? He used to yell at Sarah Sanders constantly stand up grandstand making an ass of himself. Then you've got Jim Acosta. Oh, sure. Where every single question is a monologue disguised as a question. I don't want to hear it about anything. I mean, they're all activists cost Caitlin Collins. For four years. They perpetuated that lie about Russian collusion and Donald Trump impeachment. I mean, you could go on and on and on and on and on, and they have zero credibility, and I don't blame Casey back in any in the least. I think it's hilarious. You're not a journalist. You're in the activist. I don't take questions from activists by Who was that? That was saying online that it was unprofessional like you were looking at some tweets a second ago. Like Who were you getting ready? Oh, Who's the guy? The holder Stephen Homer, He goes here. He tweeted this clip and he goes. I have never been treated like this by a PR person in my life. And so my question for Stephen holders of journalists and the right to the athletic, and I think he's on TV. Some covers. The Colts used to be with the indie stars. So he's all sanctimonious live never been treated like this by a PR person in my life. My question for you is have you ever treated a PR person like the way Kayleigh Mcenany has been treated in your life right? That would be my question back to you. There's a difference between tough questions and then going back to like what Brian Carom used to do to Sarah Sanders, bringing up her kids involved in conversations assaulting The White House press press secretaries. Kids should not be a topic, especially very young Children at any press briefing. But yet that was the norm with guys like that. And Peter Alexander of NBC just being loud and pompous, especially when you see the level of soft baldness the questions that Biden has been taking. Over the past week when he does answer questions. It is a joke, and it's quite a different setting than what you see here at the White House press briefing with the secretary press secretary. Dateline a Cono Sha Wisconsin. Heil written house has posted bail. Now this was the 17 year old was originally from Illinois charged with killing two people during the riots that broke out Um, His bail was set at $2 million. Two million bucks and earlier today. Bond was posted and he was released from custody. Now he's got another court appearance coming up December 3rd, but the fact that he was able to post bond at $2 million That's interesting. A lot of people make the case and he was defending himself. Um I My question is I Yeah. Where do you get the money for that? And what do these guys go once? I mean, these controversial Just figures that air that are universally mostly hated by people like the guy that George Floyd cop the Kill George Floyd. He's out of jail. Where in the world does he go? How is he not having protests outside of where he is living every day? No clue. I was just curious curiosity. Yeah, You can just hang out around town just walk up and down the street and go to Burger King because there's going to be problems. Um, yeah, that's interesting talking about quarantining for those guys. You can't show your face. Or you're in trouble. Yeah, the $2 million in bond. It doesn't say how it was raised, or who came up with the money. They're not giving out that information, But, yeah. Kyle Rittenhouse. Um, the man who gunned down a couple people during the Jacob Lake protest. He is out on bond. So let's turn our attention to the pandemic because it kind of feels like run a roller coaster of emotions. Here we see news of a vaccine, which is great. But then you see school's closing down and that sucks and more cases happening, and that's awful. But today we find out that the FDA now has the ability to grant These vaccines from both of these companies Fizer and Moderno to be able to get the stuff out there by mid December, and that's great. Fox News host Martha MacCallum. She was talking about the schools and Corona virus and her guests was the American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten. Now it's r a nd I This is a female. Take a listen to this here. Um, you could tell that Martha MacCallum feels like the schools need to be opened up. And it feels like a lot of these teachers associations for one reason or the other are looking for every excuse to close him down. And so what? Mike McGrew and the UFT and others are saying to the city begging the city where your mass Get the infection rate down because we want schools. We're hearing safe. The schools need to be open is the point. The kids need to be in the schools because what's been decided by the CDC. It sounds like the union doesn't want the teachers in the classroom and the mayor doesn't want the teachers in the classroom. The parents clearly wants your classroom and the CDC wants them in the classroom. You're you're actually not listening to me. What has happened here is that New York City was the on Lee School Major school district in the nation. Toe actually reopen schools. They're closing now ran in and there Why are they closing now? Yeah, and the infection rate And then I saw that interview. She's trying to stumble around and try to explain like well, the rate has skyrocketed. The 3% and she's talking about New York, not the school's inside the schools. It's minuscule, just like it is here in central Indian most schools as well. And did you can bet that one part where this wine garden chick was like? You're not listening to me. So I want you to remember that as we go a little bit further in this conversation. Martha. They're closing now because what the city said. And frankly what Lots of other places are also seeing is a huge, skyrocketing increase my resources. We need you to the science here, Randy because the science says yes, everyone agrees. We see a spike. We're in a second wave. You and I totally agree on that What they are not. What they're telling us, though, is that the wisest scientific move is to have Children in school because what we're seeing is a tremendous loss of learning. We're seeing kids who are emotionally unstable because they're not in the classroom because they're not seeing their friends and we know from the studies. This isn't me saying this. This is Brown University and other studies that the transmission rate is very, very low. And what's funny is somebody sent like a real snarky message to the WBC Facebook page ripping us. I can't believe these guys are saying that schools need to be open. They need to look at the numbers and they need to look at the science. All right, fine. Let's defer to Dr Fauci because it makes you feel a little bit better. Let's defer to CNN's Chris Cuomo and Dr Anthony Fauci. It doesn't make sense to me, Doc that one case closes down the whole school..

And they're picking on these poor kids who want to have a good time and storm the field and celebrate. But not a word is said about New York and Washington, D. C. It's fine. They're I don't know if you guys knew that. But covert is very selective about which massive group's park that's very, very selective. And it really has a thing for worth that oxygen. Right, right. Really got it out for them. I saw Stephen Holder of the star trying to justify all of this and again, he's so he's a big never trump guy, right? So he tweets out. Let me break it down. For you. The president didn't believe in science and his events were super spreaders because they were organized because the ronin knows what's organized and what does was their pre approved agenda for this, Okay, That's where we're going. That's where we're going. And Aaron Rupert of Bach's Who's got one of those profile pictures because we talked about these tweets earlier in the show his profile picture, it looks like the cover of the 40 year old Virgin where he's like looking off in the distance. And he's got his mouth open and a stupid tongue smile. That's what this dude looks like, and literally within, like 11 hours of each other look at this party at the White House, and then the Notre Dame. Kids are all going to die. I mean, it's unbelievable. And then he even tweeted after that, Of course, we got a lot of flak on Twitter backlash for that. Those side by side comparisons. And then he was like, Listen, if the if conservatives just really wanna have something to fall on right now, I'm happy to be the sacrificial lamb without ever realizing why he got picked on he they have no self awareness. Well, according to Stephen Holder, the Roman knows it knows. It knows it is an organized event. If it's not organized event, that's how complex of a virus we're dealing with here. It's amazing, and I'd like to thank hammer because he was great at talking me off a ledge multiple times during At Notre Dame game because there's a Notre Dame fan. That is the biggest game they've had in about eight years. And Hammer was a great voice of calm and reassurance, which is so rare for him because he's normal, normally terrible human being And as a Notre Dame fan, I would just like to point this out. That win reminded me of that big win against Miami and the Catholics versus convicts. Do you remember a few years later, Notre Dame beat Florida State Charlie Ward, I think was the quarterback for Florida State, then Boston College was next on the schedule on Notre Dame law. Yeah, this weekend. Boston College on the schedule for No. Today, Mark. You had a tweet. I didn't know who this woman was, but I looked her up. It's Dr Naomi Wolf. And she apparently is an American liberal progressive feminist author, journalist and former adviser to Al Gore and Bill Clinton. She saw what she is all those things. So I shouldn't tweet out her that her name is I moan backwards..

"And I'll stick around to finish up the news and notes by David. Heath have a great week later. So Ben Bill O'Brien called David Johnson. A third Dow a three down back and they have Duke Johnson there. What do you think about that? Could he be a three-day back? Could he be maybe a better version of Lamar Miller? Who was you know? Usually like a top twenty running back solid not spectacular but can you be a better version of that and actually catch a decent amount of passes. Yeah I mean I think a healthy David Johnson is a three down back. That's what we've seen him. He has the appeal of him. He has the size to be even a goal line back. It's been very good at that and then also the ability To get out in the past game in catch passes. I mean I yeah. It's not really crazy to call him a three down back. But I don't understand after trading third round pick for Duke Johnson. I wish he would have called Duke Johnson. A three down back I don't really understand. You know the the game plan there. I think all the deals that he's made or not made you know whether it was bungling the cloudy situation overpaying Laremy Tunsil. I feel like the Duke Johnson. Trade might be the worst. I mean especially now. Yeah you barely use them last year and now you went in that. Very redundant version of him Okay so a lot of running back news. I want you to tell me what stands out Sean. Mcvay said the rams offense wants to use multiple running backs. The chargers say they're still very high on Justin Jackson. According to the athletic Tampa Bay very confident Ronald Jones according to their GM BUFFALO GM brandon. Bean Devon. Single Terry could be quote the workload guy and quote in fact in his last six games he had the fourth most carries in the NFL. But not a lot of catches. And we'll start with that and I'll have to more for you here but Ramses backs chargers backs box and bills. Yeah I think you know. We talked about Jones probably early down role we talked. We've talked a lot. This off season about single terry probably won't get reception. The Golan worked out of the box will get but I would expect both of those teams to feel that way about those backs. Justin Jackson interesting on He was good a couple years ago. In in short run. Didn't get a lot of time this past season I don't know that they're going to necessarily target a back and if they don't you have learned Jackson as a pretty good one. Two Punch Jackson should apply more than than some number two backs. It's not like Acura is going to be an every down twenty carry type back And then the rams thing I think makes a lot of sense as well. I'm kind of counting in dynasty counting on the rams not drafting back. They now have added a an additional pick but they only had five before now they have six picks and they have a of needs. So I don't know that they really have the luxury of going after back in this draft Especially after they used one of those picks to trade up last year to draft Daryl Henderson last year They've already used to twenty twenty traffic on a running back. It was just in the trade in two thousand nineteen draft. So I think Henderson and Brown they could use both I think pretty complimentary as well and both could be productive for fancy. The the one that I kind of don't buy is the Justin Jackson won if there are so high on him I I don't know why they didn't use him more in the first three games of the season when he was healthy and Melvin. Gordon wasn't play. He had six carries seven carries and five carries in those three games. He said one game in his career with more than eight carries and that was the game when both awesome. Echo and Melvin. Gordon were hurt back in two thousand eighteen and he was really very underwhelming in that game. Sixteen carries fifty eight yards and a touchdown three catches for twenty seven yards ended up being good for fantasy but I. I don't know he was a seventh round pick in the NFL draft. So I really have been sort of rolling my eyes at the people who are drafting Justin Jackson. It'd be like hey great pick and it's been set on this podcast. And maybe they're right but I think he will be replaced by someone that they draft this year. Personally we'll see we'll we'll know in the few weeks and the we got a couple of sort of number two or maybe number three running backs but the Washington chief signed him and I'm Heinz. According to Zackie from the athletic he expects Hines to get a lot more work season. We talked to Stephen Holder. The beat writer for the colts for the athletic and he also talked up ninety. Nine's verse question. Who's your handcuff in Kansas? City for Damian Williams I think that's tough question I don't think we're really GONNA know and it'll be interesting to see if they add even more To this stable that they have they've built out during the draft and I I kind of expected them to now the Washington signing makes it seemed maybe a little bit less likely but I think Washington is interesting Good season last year then. Caught thirty six passes Almost seven hundred totally arts. Yeah he got three starts. Jacobs miss some time he played with Patrick. Mahomes at Texas Tech. There's some familiarity. There Mahomes tweeted out his excitement about Washington joining the chiefs I think he's a you know he. He should be someone who should be going in drafts As a a handcuff. We didn't see a ton from Dharma Thompson. I was GonNa Be Daryl Williams over Darwin Thomson just because the chiefs seemed to be a Williams over darned Thompson throughout the year last year when they got those Got Position to make those choices when Damien Williams was hurt But Yeah I think Washington could be number two which either hammered Daryl for me. Finally we'll have to keep an eye on nine hines and see what happens there. But he could be a trendy sleeper. The box and the Falcons released new uniforms. Which do you like better Ma Bucks? I think the box are in the running for the best jerseys and football now. Yeah the Great. Huge upgrade the falcons in the bucks like kind of look alike but the bucks. Just did it so much better. It's funny because the bucks used to have I didn't like the old jerseys where they had like a different color on the shoulders. I mean this this kind of weird kind of that CFL. Look that was popular for a few years. They went back to a little bit of a cleaner. Look I liked their alternates. That are the pewter those. Those are pretty fresh. Sports is great because I would never know what.

"Game your morning show on KNBR came here FM services go the sports leader all right everybody we know it's strange out there we're trying to give you guys a sense of normalcy and the NFL sure is the NFL's given as more news to talk about the last couple days and they've given us in years my god it's been incredible and one of the guys covering it all is our next guest Stephen holder who is a senior writer covering the colts for the athletic he's been at the Indy star the Miami Herald been down in Florida in Tampa Bay till could talk about old timey Brady but now he gets to cover deforest Buckner the forty Niners great who's been sent out to Indiana so a Stephen welcome to the M. R. for macs are here in San Francisco by Murphy Paul McCaffrey buddy Joe left and how you doing these crazy times Stephen a Stephen Hey I'm I'm doing well guys I've actually been I do so questions like everybody else but but funny enough is because of its availability so it's it's worked out because when you see the Stevens we have like our big big guys from the forty Niners have come on and Matt barrows on if you know Matt easier calling we are slick right absolutely talk America he would tell us that he would call it a round tripper and during free agency that's if he got up in the morning in his pajamas got on his laptop he stayed on the laptop on the phone all day just a couple of things in the kitchen and then eventually nine PM came he was still in his pajamas he called in a round tripper is what he would call it but I never gave it a name but what I have done it so many times that it probably bears thing but I can sympathize that's our work now personally you know what the state does not want to be called with did they made man get on the internet and stuff break from morning to night so you never know when it's coming or when you're coming down the pike vote yet you just possibly handcuff but I I guess it's a bold welcome distraction right now no no question so it's kind of funny you you have a history of being sequestered so it's a comfort zone for you Stephen holder of the Atlantic so tell us a little bit about does the view in Indianapolis of of get divorced but our to start a new rivers is probably the bigger headline there but for us to to Buckner because man Stephen this guy I mean it near the Niners weren't in the playoffs last for years so nobody talked about him but we saw him perform at a very very high level then when he finally got his chance to shine on the big stage even up into the Superbowl ever got to see what this guy is all about so how are people feeling in India about adding this big piece like what are the realistic expectations out there well you made a good point you said that you know Philip rivers is probably the bigger headline and it and it probably is I mean it is but sure because quarterback but I am not so sure that this is not the more impactful hi all right because here's why the colts have talked over and over and over again about why the interior of their defensive line but the scheme that they run it through for a lot of teams but but there's particularly their scheme is proven by the three technique and the the interior pass rush and last year he had just two years in the brawny men on a two year deal he played great eleven sacks I thought was really good against the run so what happen though he didn't really care or they didn't get that address combined with the interior of the US and so what happens the press wasn't really that good you know when you combine it all together so I think what's the cold classrooms their password it was very very very average despite dozens and having a great year so now this kind of gets a bit slow getting going with a firecracker inside there where they can really push the pocket now the offense of coordinators now they turn the tape on and it's going to be our how we gonna stop this guy what are we going to do what's the plan and so that's only going to help everybody else and this guy young kid to rate our brokers who is coming off an injury but has they have high hopes for him as well great athletes so that they they have a sense of what that really started to come together and this is the biggest piece now you guys are gonna love him he's a he's a great due to cover too so Stephen holder the voice you hear from the athletic covering the Indianapolis colts were divorced doctors now home and then moved to the other big news then would be fall rivers because you wrote about it and there's a lot of interesting things like I kind of want to go back and ask before we get to rivers it was only August so it's only worth about six months ago seven months ago that into lock drop that bomb did did that wander the replications last like it was it was a town in the franchise shell shocked the entire season it was really surreal and you know obviously that that first we got really into the season began it was just a state of shock for everybody and then I think the games kind of start and you're like all right let's see what happens here and the colts they were okay it was there were five into going in our student come in either by bargain too that's pretty good Lee in the division they thought they were on their way and you know what always happens in the NFL is in during our you have a sliding your team starts to smoke a little bit and and what do you need at that point need somebody to pull you out of that mess you know somebody that we can to get you back on your feet well a great quarterback can do that and that's what we look was able to do for so many years and and not having that last year I think was one of the things that they they just couldn't overcome and that's how they ended up seven nine you know who wins down the stretch that is not going to get it done so I just think that is a two seven is that they come straight that was kind of a a reality check for the colts you know and Jacoby percent at the moments but I think his ceiling news is not that high and that's part of the problem they have to be a really solid team throughout the two Kobe percent be successful and and at times last week that was not the case that the team had to miss you so they've got to keep building around the quarterback within the needed an upgrade at quarterback they felt as well so we'll see the book is thirty eight years old now but the colts were adamant they have done their homework Frank Reich has been his clothes before so they have watched all this from last year and the consensus in the building is this guy can still call the ball down the field get us some big plays and that is what was most missing last season well with the courts are going to work so they think they can get that back and and get some electric electricity back in their offense that means he didn't always look great last year but like I said no no hello ladies protection now maybe Quenton Nelson can be seven people around more so than the Chargers a line but yeah which I'm talking to Stephen holder who is that covers the calls for the athletic of course the cold say hello to Philip rivers to go by did you Kobe percent is there a chance I seem percent listed as a possible Tom Brady successors at the is there any buzz to that in your your your neck of the woods well I think it's too early to know but but certainly the colts would have to at least explore the idea of trading him and it would be interesting I also just got he's coming fifteen million dollars this year but seven million of that is a bonus the colts him in fact in a matter of days I believe it's doing a fifty year of the of the week year which is coming up so I think if the cold eight that seven million that's a lot to eat but they may have to work that day seven million you're you're a school teacher called members that you know even if you're not going to be a bona fide starter eight million poor guy who compete in at least you know make your quarterback room better that's probably something to consider so I I think they may have an opportunity to move them assuming they go ahead and eat that bonus which I think they're gonna have to so I I don't I don't know I I think that is certainly on the table and I got to them that's correct so you know well there's a list of candidates and he's one of them for sure and then finally Stephen just given that the time is now Tom Brady's now Tampa Bay Bach two part question one is you cut did it ever get real in in the that that you were there the drumbeat because the culture mentioned it but from the people you talked to did ever get did ever get real no I've never had any sense that the Tom Brady was a realistic option for the colts in fact they bent over backwards to me in my conversations to completely strip that down and I I never saw any evidence of it myself the only thing I talk and act in them came from elsewhere I never saw any indication on within the organization all right any given what you know Tampa sports culture having work down there at the Tampa Bay newspaper that's it it is it I don't know how crazy will they go for Brady how may be much of a let down will be for him going from New England to the I mean timbre was thirtieth in attendance last year to thirty two teams got a change though I he's gonna sell some tickets at the least right maybe one or two yeah yeah it could spring apparently I saw screenshots on social media last night of the the rush to buy season tickets apparently there was a waiting list on the Ticketmaster website that was like five thousand people won't wow ridiculous well I've never seen anything like it I worked there for a year to cover the block I covered probably nine different quarterbacks I don't know I mean I think our group down there so you guys know darn well yeah it was interesting I would say that and never had a local box I've never had or habitat for a long long time is any kind of stability at quarterback or just a he sort of hope at quarterback you know they had a little bit of a glimpse here which influence there but you've got to go back to like Doug Williams man to talk about a quarterback who was like a true true difference maker in Tampa Bay it's just it other than that it's just been a revolving door at quarterback year after year so absolutely not a long term solution but it's it's the brightest spot they've got a quarterback probably in the top twenty or thirty years at the moment is that city ready every sense again that's the ever go off and go crazy for the boxers are just a sleepy sports tag because it's Florida well it it's a it's a vibrant place the problem is we're playing arable Las however I will tell you look I went through a couple of raised real postseason run and that was fun that town was on fire and so I'm I'm I'm hoping if that sounds something to get excited about I I think the democratic but I hope the results come and they can actually see some from this because that they're thirty four I think people there if they want something to be excited about they just haven't had it so I think you're gonna see a town that that buys into this a minute up to the box to make it happen see me there when the lightning won the Stanley Cup yeah every exactly so there you go yeah I think I've seen this town on the scene that down on fire before and and there's nothing like you I mean we've all gone through you know sort of Mr brown in our respective cities and there's nothing like it I I tell you even even local sports towns who are considered among the better for it sounds okay not only I can do that however I think sometimes when they haven't had a lot to be excited about that's often the Congress the most fun okay see you know the sort that out wide open yeah so I actually got a lot of followers about my time there and a lot of them and odych those people they are excited they're over the moon again I don't know what they're going to get out of a forty year old Tom Brady rose right but that's part of the fun they have increased but they have not had in many many years so I'm excited I just I want to have the players out Hey man good conversation Stephen redo the athletic I'm a subscriber so thanks for coming on the market that shows every Cisco and and have a great rest the week man are you got a guy thank you for holding I am trying to talk a good attitude Tampa baseball sports culture a roadway cambiando defective Brady announces he's going to go down to Tampa and already they're jam in the the ticket master lines trying to buy two get some believe they have a Tom Brady effect let's see any of the seeds down there that's one thing that you will still see FTC thank I bet there will be empty because they they were they only averaged fifty one thousand everybody loves a winner Asia is a set of books about five and one was a winner six into stuff like that after he can now you can have everybody come out a winner that didn't draw eight we came around the three rams rooms of the law the Braves got to a point where they were playoff games the rays I want him back here they were in the range of two years ago when going over the Superbowl they've got people are going cage down there not shop it was bacon fans a show.

"And it leads us to maybe something may be happening later on today that might signify the end of one of the most incredible careers in the history of the NFL Adam military struggled again yesterday he's misconception that extra points consecutive games to start the season after the game Jimmer say the owner of the colts said he's very concerned and are going to have to talk with that a military military who's in by those twenty fourth season in the NFL he sold forty forty six years old and younger than both of us myself he's not all your all yes it football parlance use were real. and Stephen holder does a great job covering the colts I said asked Adam up I said I'm not talking after the game I'll talk to you tomorrow and Stephen said you don't normally talk to us Margo's you'll hear from me tomorrow so it sounds like there might be an announcement coming or a great marketing opportunities also get yeah Hey brother got this new deal all right bye Indiana farm bureau. but yeah I eat Eliza prior to yesterday's hold on their my book at that low but later to do anything so what do we think is going to retire it seems like I mean that is while it's what what we always hear from people that are at a military is one of the all time greats the position is one of the most well known names in kicking in this era and what we always hear these guys say is I want to play until I no longer feel like I'm up to my own standards when I feel like I'm not the guy that I know I'm capable of being that's one I will walk away and not a minute sooner and it seems like that minute might arise I mean we're talking about arguably the most maybe not even arguably the clutches kicker I can never remember it in in the history of the NFL mean for for people that don't know or don't remember the first three super bowls that the patriots won there all by three points yeah and by and the the winning margin of victory was twice a kick by Adam military in the final two minutes and the other was a fourth quarter field goal which eventually was the winning points against Philadelphia in Super Bowl and Super Bowl thirty nine so what we're talking about a guy who has won four rings three with the patriots and one with the Indianapolis Colts we're talking about a guy who arguably made the toughest kick. I've ever seen in this for the NFL not the one to win the talk real game but they want to send it into overtime no in a blinding snowstorm so this really might be the a and and a guy who's kicked with and once the bulls with Peyton manning and Tom Brady that's we're talking in right now he's one of three on field goals and these two of five an extra points no and I understand he has been great in some instances we feel like that's that's cost the colts opportunities would you guys have a problem with him according to games into the season like this well I I mean I I think if he's doing it in all honesty I I think part of it is to your point he doesn't feel he can do it anymore and there has to be part in that second of the team let's take it okay of this team is going to make any moves I don't want to be the one holding them back I don't want to be missing extra points I don't want to be missing field goals so if I don't feel that I can do and I I think there's certainly part of him that says I'm not up to my standards and if I'm not I can cost this team then and it doesn't want to do that either I guess I was on saying because I remember we all kind of had a good bit of fun with vontade Davis retired at halftime at one game this is like one standard deviation point a lock on that no I I use I see completely differently I I don't I don't see that at all because you're talking to a guy who's not getting it done and kickers get caught all the time when they don't get it done I mean regular players get cut all the time they do right I I know but I mean so I mean that this is a guy who literally in week one missed two field goals and extra point again went over time and one of those was a twenty nine yard field goals and extra points he can make either one of those things we're gonna to article seem to start season two or not let me put it this way if if if we define it was vontade wanted David the US what what if after that game one of on Monday he said I'm retiring would we have had it we would have our children now that would be not at all well I do think there's a difference I mean if they had a military at halftime what is said you know what I'm done I mean obviously we're left him in a large because it in another kicker. so I would have done that I think would be talking about that but I think if you if you and lets him today if this in fact is what he's going to do I think it's going to be I'm not getting it done anymore and I'm going to hurt the team doing it if Davis said that on that Monday afterward I don't think we already had it the one thing we know that a military to is the cold aren't going to cut an all time great and so maybe he's saving them they face had the conversation. Jim Marrs they said we're going to have that conversation after the game and Frank right by the way went out there and defend him out all that kind of stuff but you know it it looks like it might be the end of what was an amazing career a friend of military later on table mantra that and see what happens when he said he would speak with folks in Indy later on today coming up one F..

"Before the start of the NFL season one of the league's star quarterbacks announced he's retiring for the last four years or so I've been in the cycle of injury pain rehab and it's been on see you soon and I felt stuck in it and the only way I see out this is to no longer play football it's it's taken my joy of this game away that's twenty nine year old Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew luck luck was the number one overall draft pick in two thousand twelve but he has struggled with injuries throughout his career a concussion lacerated kidney torn cartilage in his throwing shoulder to name a few Stephen holder is a senior writer for the athletic and covers the colts any joins us now on Skype to talk about this morning Steven good morning so we heard from left there about why he is retiring but the I mean that it sounds like this was a total surprise to fans and and people follow the IFL right but it was standing I wrote a story last week in fact because now everyone has not been practicing for the last three weeks because you've been dealing with this lower leg injury and slept like a sort of a mysterious issue that they couldn't solve and then the pain just kind of lingering so I wrote a story last week as a single obsolete poaching were sort of wondering where his chances of playing and and I interviewed players and coaches about how he's been very involved in the preparation behind the scenes in the team's walk through practices which are not which is sort of you know sort of walking through they're placing every morning to do that which is an important some important part of their preparation churn balking that involves all their meetings is rehabbing the injury no hint of this yeah and so that's what is it was sort of a this juxtaposition of this guy who behind the scenes is doing everything he can to try to get back to play and then yeah I think apparently now alternatively yeah in one part of my also realizing that I can't do this anymore so it was very shocked this is a time in the league where you know you've heard from some players talking more more about the risks they think about brain injury otherwise and then here you have a lot to who could have had some years left retiring early I mean it what if anything does this tell us about that the NFL right now what's so as it relates to that this is interesting I think it this is an initial walk the station as opposed to a decision that reflects on the game itself now it does remind is this game takes a lot out of it there's no question about it that is true and will always be true but there is a look is a different sort of guy I think a lot of NFL players grow up dreaming of and and making it their life's goal to make it to the NFL and that was not a lot you know his he comes from a different background grew up in New York for a large part of his childhood his father being involved in the sports business industry and leading NFL Europe years ago also you know he he went to Stanford and major in architecture and has this though amazingly varied set of interest I think he was just really good at all and it just happened and so you know now that this is happened to him that his reasons for playing the game there's no longer there anymore and I think that is what is led them to this is reason for any game was he enjoyed it he loved it you never did it for the money never did for the thing yeah and and and when that's the case if you have those injuries I mean it's it's probably just not a not fun anymore at all Stephen holder is a senior writer for the athletic he covers the Indianapolis Colts search we're dealing with the sudden announcement by quarterback Andrew luck that he is retiring at just before the season started thank so much different exactly and this is morning edition from NPR news I'm David drink then I'm no well king and this is KQED public radio coming up is the market place report.

"Dot com let's get some background on this Andrew luck situation he's dealing with a calf injury didn't go today spoke a few Sibley about where he is as he hopes to put this behind them and get back on the field for the Indianapolis Colts as soon as possible ideally obviously week one when the colts play the LA charger Stephen holder covers the Indianapolis Colts senior writer covering the calls for the athletic can read a matter of the athletic dot com all right Stephen obviously we have weeks before again the counts for the Indianapolis Colts we've been here before I'll be in a different part of the body concerned about Andrew luck going into a season what is the level of concern about his availability for week one I think there's some mild concern from the organization right now and I'm not talking about the fans certainly from our perspective you know we don't have all the information and maybe it looks a little bit talking right now but the reason I'm getting from people on the inside today is look slow down slow your roll you're going to be fine but I think there I wanna make a very I wanna make it very clear that there is a very big distinction it's a very familiar feeling but if there's a very big distinction between the current situation and what he pays a couple years ago about this time they did not know where he was at about two years ago coming off the shoulder and ultimately he did miss the season and they did sort of mis read that situation because they were dealing with sort of a a rare circumstance you know a quarterback coming off that type of surgery but at the end of the day this is a a much more buyers they ruled out surgery they're they're really just trying to alleviate it once and for all that he doesn't go out there and further here that cap that would be a much longer rehab and outs with them on the shelf for what we're trying to be proactive in preventing because they have by the time a different right now Stephen I mean is there is there a reason to not be overly cautious yours right reason to just go ahead and hold out for the whole preseason yeah I really feel as though I'm certainly I I can project but I I gotta believe that it would be surprising to me right now we eat there what can the crazies I I just think the attitude that I've that I've seen and heard from the organization we don't care about the pre season I mean no one really does right right but the date I think in this particular instance it it really truly secondary right now they're not going to take any chances it's not worth it or so and it wasn't very important point to look for something that I think it's been reinforced by coach Frank Reich embodying what is what is the ones were driving the reason they have learned from last year when he was when he finally got back and the cost of the product coming off their shoulders last year and in what was the guy who sold harder that half right coming back that soldier maybe listed a lot of both his the team happened and for the the outside people he was working with as well but it worked ultimately I think grow both both all that well they're looking green lucky he doesn't care and once the back off and let it heal completely if the if the rest will alleviate it and the team has basically said you know what so that's an important point here and and you have to earn that of the player writer and intellectual earth and cold as Stephen I want to live you can elaborate on something that you put on Twitter because the Andrew luck video came out of him meeting with you guys it cold camping if if you haven't paid attention to this you might think wow Andrew luck is being very transparent hearing yet I saw you answer the question from somebody on Twitter by the way Stevens on Twitter at holder Steven and any wrote let me I want to be very clear here I'm I'm quoting you to you if you want someone to blame blame manager look the secrecy is driven mostly by him personally can you kind of elaborate on how he is in disclosing information erasing ambiguity and kind of providing the level of transparency about where his health is yeah so that was a great question that that was actually a reference to a couple of things have been a lot of questions as to why we called who really higher because that was the party line OTA then and the mandatory minicamp back in June late may really is the first we learned of this and here we are almost all of you that this is still an issue so I think those are questions like why why don't we hold that and and why would the pain so okay something very serious and analytics but certainly it's not nothing right so what are you what are you learn I guess from covering it up now for six years or so is that what is a guy who he wants to talk about football he doesn't want to talk about himself doesn't want doesn't look one o'clock about his injuries Anne has this sort of overly sensitive approach to dealing with injuries were talking about the specifics and so what happened is when you ask go to the body they get a little weird because he doesn't want them talking about it if so is it in the past I think that a left impression that well they're hiding things from the from the public from the media and it's not that per se it indirectly that yes but it is really a result of or reaction into let's approach so what I would say though is today I think because a lot of questions were raised when he wasn't out there and that was not a planned day off this was certainly a step back I think when those questions came up we certainly have a lot of weak demand a lot of answers today so I think there was an effort made by and looked to be for transparent today you heard him over the course of that interview thing okay look what it is but let me let me be clear only be more transparent he actually said that about three time for him that was out of the ordinary and I I think he understood that his reluctance to talk about his injury in detail kinda led to some ambiguity that not not good for the organization Stephen hold is our guest from the athletic talk about the colts manager lock and and you also wrote a piece about Frankreich in and you know it in the modern NFL where really smart innovative coaches are multiple they're not married to one philosophy or or you know one system Frankreich is certainly a very much a part of that I mean you watch one game and then another week and they're there to almost completely different offenses do you think the keys to surgery under rated we talk was sort of the smart innovative coaches in the NFL that that he's certainly as good as any of those guys I really do look I mean I like the guy maybe I'm biased I will know we're out here every day so close but what I would say is clearly look we don't have the body of work yet right because we're talking about one year yeah but but I will tell you from what I've seen there's no doubt about it I I do think that he has a chance to really put himself in the operates one of office of CO two this year we'll see I mean last year the first year that being a quarterback who didn't practice with them at all in the offseason with limited to start training camp very much like you out and while they're in falling in the water right and still they were able to overcome that and and be one of the most recent office teams in the NFL so a top ten offense the whole night and I think we look at the pieces they have added this year they've mostly been often to pieces you know better answers I think getting Parris Campbell in the second round from Ohio state I think it's going to be either a secret weapon honestly in your care so I really believe they have done nothing but pollster Frank right bill of the I think could be sort of a an offense to no I don't think masterminded the improvement that yet one year but there's something better there's no question about it I should also add that well back in the order your directives and walk in the park so you're now going to have a break right you've got it all in place your two quarterback in place we presume and then also about adding a weapon that so I I really got a chance to take the next step and yeah I believe you're going to read it as often Stephen I think there's a lot of people who might have forgotten as good as the colts were at the end of the year last year they were awful to start the season dug out from a one in five hole and there were injuries all over the place obviously there's no bigger injury situation than that involving answer lock but given the fact that most training camp news either involves a hold out or players getting hurt how healthy is this team as we go into the heart of training camp yeah look and it looks very early is minor and you could play on it currently if you had to as he said today assuming that's all true look they have pretty much higher starting lineup back on both sides there are changes it does go by what's on paper there to think of the fine line up one of them is just okay so that's an upgrade and then the other one is seven point two on offense which is an upgrade from what they had with the people turning and receivers the young people I hope to go into the season on one leg basically playing with a high ankle sprain go out news of the so they have they have kept their their lineup intact and then they have added a dimension earlier some key pieces so I'm telling you they were a team when I am out of their last chance to get in the playoffs last year if you're ever going to the union of fell out your plate granted you know look we can quibble about their schedule and maybe there's an argument to be made there but I I don't think we your point with the young and with that kind of immense pressure trying to dig out of a one in five whole you're playing it means both are the better the queue Ian task and they were able to pull that off so I do but they're there for them now with the group they can play with why can't the city look can't really have their way with them in the playoffs that's the next step can they play with Kansas city they open up against the Chargers on the road so I mean those those are the kinds of games they're gonna have to wind up to prove that they're a powerhouse in the AFC but they have that and it's up to them whether they're ready Stephen fantastic inside thanks so much thank you guys Stephen holder senior NFL writer covering the Indianapolis Colts for the athletic read about the athletic dot com joining us on the shell "-cluded that degrade is insult the tournament. Give you is when they're like you're going to play on that Sunday night game to the last sixteen spot. I thought the day was over with. UCF defined out that Oregon was out here playing basket against against. Oh, it was that other team had a double digit seed attached to UC Irvine. Flipped onto that. That was like so back there basketball versus nach packed basketball and off I thought it was a rerun ready to go. Wait who are you by the way? So we sixty third time for years. First name is Duke because yesterday Bozize on and Duke beat the university of central Florida by one point. Let's take a look at how this epic ended. Oh, man. What's happening much going on? You have to understand. They were just ahead. Yes. By three was also good. The second. Licking every part of that cylinder vickings. That's what it was doing that. Oh, that's that's what you do. Look basketball, turn around the rim. Basketball term, absolutely the ball around the rim. That's what they say. But go that clip beyond by Frasier allergy. How did you feel watching? I feel better Washington than I did listening to you talk about that. I it was a Stephen holder covers the colts who said he did realize how much he hated do until saw shot. That I thought that there would be a game like this one for do. Right. And I thought that that game will come because they could not make shots. They went tin for twenty five from three in this game. It's still struggled at the end to get it done. Right. This doesn't this game by itself? Doesn't mean they can't win it ASA championship or anything like that. But that was a great game. And I did not expect the great game that do play to be gives UCF. No it was. So so good. And it was also as clean a display of the role of luck as you really get in sports after that game coach K credited explicitly the idea of their good fortune. It's really hard to imagine the alternate world. Obviously that we could be living in if that shot had gone in which is a magic for a second. Right. What happens? What's different? Are. We talking about whether Zion volumes is big enough for the NBA or talking about whether Duke was just a bunch of chokers. What happens in that? We're talking about j Barrett. Howard. You did make enough shots. Like, that's what it is. We also say that bad about Zion. One thing about Zayn in this game. If there is a complaint that you can make about him is I wouldn't say he can be passive when he could be a little selfless and ways a guy as good as should not be a game against Carolina the ACC tournament. He was like no one coming out here. Shoop right, right. This is another game like this. And after all that talk about whether he could dunk taco fall. It was crazy to think that the play that did it was him going for a layup into taco falls chest. Like that was the way he went about whether he could bang over here. But the fact you can finish through the contact was enough. Yes. The big news for me on the front was that this. He was so calm and good under pressure. Right. He was shooting threes. He was taking the ball at taco all as you said when the game was on the line and all week it seemed like Zion. Williamson was really mature. He was politically savvy into flexing those answers those questions about whether taco fall was going to be this obstacle for him to mountain to summit..
