"Audio for nine zero. Hey It's Bernie Book on the twentieth of the second of Twenty twenty talking about audits that I need. I need an audit because of three things. Free Things I've Lost I. I've lost my three seven. One thousand focus started out the year. Saying I'll contact three people a day. Seven minute workout with Dylan. Write one thousand words a day. Haven't done those things regularly. GotTa gotTa kill that. So I'm going to go after the three people by focusing on folks that can make an impact. I'll go after Mid performer a low performer and a high performer. And anyone of my modules every day. That's what I'll do because I think it'll make an impact Dylan I. We're going to do seven minute. Workouts Right Dylan. Are you GONNA hold till down my feet so I can do my sit ups GonNa Count? The number of push ups that I do. We'll get back into the routine. We will the thousand word thing is something that really good about when I do it and I gotTa make that happen. I have to make that happen. Even if it's just a diary entry of a thousand words right also lost myself funding. So used fun stuff. Like Google one patriarch on web hosting on the back of stuff. That was in our current account. And I'm not doing that. I fell off the cliff. It was started by moving out moving house and doing a lot of of home repair buying equipment buying things that we needed everything from power power. Tools Dylan's pinwheels. Well I'm letting Dylan by penguins. Even though the last time he bought penguins they were too euro for four of them which is more than we normally spend. We look for them to be half that price or no more than one euro fifty four of them. We buy too many penalties. Because now it's happening is dillon. Doesn't just eating them but mom's eating them and so as MIA so the poor penguins. Which would last almost a week now rarely last more than two days are eight to get back some of that self funding to improve the current account. I need to do course development work where I am on the cloud digital campus. And they'll do that I finally. I've lost my daily recap. I used to be able to look ahead by a day or two to a calendar and then look at the stuff that happened on my handset and interact with those things. I haven't done that either. Really bugs me so making proper checklist tick off the things I need to do at night because if I push those things to the morning things like walking the dog. It's the way so do at night. "Directly again. This breaker studio. I talked about this before on an anchor podcast. I like the old fuel recorder in using it for about three years. Now it's made by zoom. It's the h six and I like the speaker studio APP. It's probably the reason why. I've shoveled a lot of content over the speaker the mobile APP that I use on both IOS and android is just really really good and in simple. So when I explain what I'm doing with the Zoom h six the audio cable. I used to make this work a handy connection point at the bottom of my android phone. That makes it seamless and what spreaker stews doing such break it down the zoom h six is a simple piece of hardware it just works. I have four AA battery Senate and zoom mid nightside capsule running right now with no pop filter so they get to close clip. There's a USB audio interface on the zoom you simply select to that fixture that fitting to that setting with a simple menu toggle switch on the side of handset or the side of the field recorder will do it for you. I used the USB audio interface Stereo L. Mix option because the mid side give me left and right and I select the PC has my destination so so it thinks it's getting power at the other end from a PC which is actually a samsung note. Nine in this case now. The zoom h six talking to the to the Samson Newt threw a line so the little cable goes from the bottom of the field recorder. It's called line in out. And he amusing road micon to fitting so. It's just a pin goes into the line now connects to a cable which happens wants to be as a road. TRS Pin so the TRS fitting is the same kind of fitting use a mobile mobile phone. I think it also works for for my old iphone six but at the iphone phone six has been damaged by several ejections. I've made from the back of my bike so I'm not sure it would actually work a good test bed right now. Anyway I plan to fix the iphone six and the iphone five so I can use them was speaker studio as recording options. Sion's with this high end zoom six anyway to make it all work simple cable mike onto fitting on one side. That goes into the line outs of the age each six and then the trs pin. That goes into the bottom of the nine in the earbud. Jack I'm listening to everything. I do using biodynamic headphones. So they're the cans will let me know over boosting. Were from making noise. I've got a man fraught so many tripod connected to the bottom autumn zoom but any movement I make on the table or tapping that I do on the side of the record will come in as line noise. In fact even the cable say I'm tapping the cable connected to the headphones. Listening to that comes in to the zoom. It's really really sensitive. And all this stuff goes into spreaker studio up leads directly to the speaker content management system. You know what had this could be me. Plus four others in this conversation. People like Roger Overall have zoom h six and they they record podcasts. Art Casts with it themselves plus two others but I could line a source in here from like an online Webinar so I use zoom dot. US which is a zoo map. Not Related to zoom recorder. I could have ten or twelve voices coming in as one of the channels one of the five main channels and on the same line and the same recorder and wanted to get complex about it. I guess I could try to mix it down although no you can't do that in this kind of set up because I'm using the. USB Interface talked wreckage of speakers studio anyway the point is bigger studios taken the straight in. I'm not doing any kind of post production with it. It's going straight out for people to listen. Okay I've got a right about this. Got A website inside inside. Butyl I e you can find out more about what I'm talking about by probably by googling zoom h six spreaker studio and you'll land on the website in such you'd I I have a flicker podcasting album which all update to show the different parts of the six the lines and the menu and the MIC capsule amusing. "What audio for six threes <unk> playing around year talking to you in a j._v. Oh tune scene one ten bt mid. It's a bluetooth ear bud and i'm not sure what's gonna. What's gonna sound like because. I'm using it on a note nine. I'm using it as a recording device amusing inside at app called spreaker studio. How's the sound to you when i use them in dublin dublin immediately after i bought them i thought i'm getting good base baby because i i think i heard were some instagram ads and it was the first time him of aware of how much fill is in a lot of the music that accompanies some of those over the top too loud instagram ads but then i thought brought to some youtube music collections have their playlists online and i got an a warning from my provider of how much gigabits of data was using and i also got entertain got some good musical fill in my ears with a tight fitting <unk> set of ear bud devices so this little j._b._l. Tune one ten b._t. Comes with a series of different sleeves. You can put on <unk>. Just replace the <hes> standard earbud if you want. I like the smugness of feel even though after a few hours of using them in a crowded city environment. I was aware that i had your butts on. I know friends of mine have told me purist that i'm going to be more like the students that are in my creative creative courses either by over the ears cans. We'll probably do that but it's a matter of the size of things i had to go in and out of the american embassy today. They don't let you take stuff like he ear sets into the embassy so i would have had to squeeze into a locker and maybe damage them so anyway what what these robots primarily because i wanted to have your buds. I had ak gs from a note nine that i bought months ago. Those ak jeez. He's fell out of my pocket when it was cycling and i found them a few days later crash bits by a car still on the area where i would write to from work. I got easier buds because i was looking for the replacement that thirteen-year-old replacements for the ak jeez. Everybody told me to different shops so me that curry's p._c. Were would have them. They don't so i- zeroed in on other ear buds and decided you know what since i wanted to have bluetooth ear buds while working in the back garden i'd go for brand j._b._l. Abi l. i knew and i spent thirty nine euro to buy things currently using whitman of nine using them now as a bluetooth truth microphone from experience i know by putting my phone in my bag and walking away from it that the other range of at least five meters that's about the space space of time and distance space the distance that they cut out five six meters good for me. I work with that when i got them there. They had a charge on the moretti between i wanna say they had thirty percent power is present charging i think and i got a full day's use out the in dublin which is decent translates into a full charge will give you maybe six hours of us which is fine. I have a small battery pack <unk> at on the train home which is about to our journey. They were fully recharged. That's good. I use them all the way down to where they just didn't work anymore and they produce this little warning bell that varies. I guess closer to you get zero. That's kinda cool so would recommend for you okay. If you want airbud that cut out the sound around you. They're pretty decent for that. They're not as good as noise cancelling headphones but they're good. They're good <hes> if you want them to. Cycle a bike there worthwhile. Do you want to just hear a greater range of sound that comes on the podcast with music that you have yeah. These are good ideas the other tests. I'm gonna have with ms. Can they actually keep me working longer certain crap. I have in my garage or pigging holes in my backyard. I think yes they will work that way. What i know from common uses that they're not so good for the other other end of the phone call so handled two phone calls with them yesterday. In both cases i could tell the people couldn't hear me as well as when i would take take off bluetooth and talk directly in the phone which did during the phone call so. I'm not sure there would be something. I'd recommend if you were were an e._m._t. Driving your emergency vehicle to a place. I don't think i'd use these <unk> spent one hundred twenty euro and get a plant onyx bluetooth headsets sentence boom it out from there but that's for another day for now you can say i'm happy for forty euro. I spent for the j._b._l. Tune in one ten b._t. Your funds earphones and that's what you're hearing me. Use <unk> nine connected to the speaker studio so all in all. That's a good technological fit the lifestyle that i have although i'm sure some people would find the standard fit too tight for the ears ears. Admit irritating others would find it totally unusable because as telephonic connection. It's not really the expectation people have have when making or receiving a phone call all right more about this stuff over on inside view dot i e that's the website that i use. You can find me dan. Shout back at me through your old ear buds. If you wish i am top golden good social networks by now.

"DOC audio four five seven the episode number and it's go by connected to you using spreaker studio special audio clip for Eileen Smith because Eileen was asking what kind of microphones do you use and she threw that out thousands of her minions and I'm responding from Ireland. I'm using zoom h six field recorder talking to you on a t-bone Mike. It's a t-bone S._e.. For fifty the zoom h six has a few other. Mike's hooked up to it quitting his sure S._M.. Fifty eight on input number two and Eileen Favorites Art U._S._B.. H._R. Twenty one hundred on the input number four the top of the zoom h six. I have an X. Y.. Mike the X Y H six so this is my Chiba Mike it's melted on a platform on standing desks. Stan destined seems to pick up noise like sometimes hear me tappan and sometimes tapping noise gets picked up. It's mountainous spider. Mike and the cover art shows you this. This mike okay now for comparison. GonNa Bring Down that volume level and bring up the shore. This is a sure as some fifty eight. I like it a lot. It's durable. My students teenagers in the Youth Media Team have used the sure S._M.. Fifty eight's waterproof baby drop proof no pop filter require actually licking while I'm touching the Mike itself what might lips really close and according adding to the indicators on the devices. I'm using the D._S._M.. Fifty Eight on Speaker Studio and on the <hes> the H. Six. It's it's not over boosting it. All we'll find out. I've if I cranked up the volume river relative support to six right now spur. Give me some small reds although the is showing reds okay now next Michael B.. I. Leans the twenty one hundred. I'll bring down the shore picking up the H._R.. Twenty one hundred pretty clever and it has an all switched. I'll turn it off. I was still talking for a while. They're turn it on and it's showing <hes> yellow and red on the H.. Six and green and yellow and a little bit of red so it's over boosting right now probably needs a pro pop filter okay so. That was the E._T._R.. Twenty one hundred once again it's lined in to the zoom h six and zoom h six is lined out to the bottom of my sung net galaxy note nine k. The special tip is I'm using the road micon to adapter align just connects a whole three point five millimeter jack the bottom of the zoom h six cable the Mike onto from road connection to the bottom autom the note nine small three and a half okay now eternal H. E. R. Twenty one hundred turn on Zoom X. Y.. Mike Zooming Mike is pointing away from me right now. Uh and move on moving close to myself right now and I can see look into speaker studio that it's green and yellow which is good. I'm not getting blinking lights on the age six which Liam over boosting the output level now and trying to see can the gain increased so much so that it causes red dots to show up on the SPREAKER APP and it is getting pulsing reds occasionally all right go. Back to my big just by care a moment and that's where I am right now. I had a little bit of the X. Y.. Talking to you at the same time as the desktop one on four on ten on the desktop and it's it's blinking Lincoln Lorette which means I'm over boost and backing off all right cover art was show. The core of this thing isn't actually the field recorder because anybody can get a field recorder doesn't have to be zoom h six but the the hidden trick on on all this is the road micon to three point five millimeter pin stuck into the bottom of the H. Six and headline that my conto line goes into the bottom of the note nine and everything thing works. Why would you want to do this well? It's definitely the smallest field recorder I've ever had and that's good lightweight. Batteries are pretty decent. Even when empowering the Phantom Devices Phantom power is coming off four AA batteries to give the big exelon Mike's their their power and the other handy thing is. I don't have to do anything in post on this. Why could have I wanted to but I was going to publish wreckage speaker talk about audio clips? It's an episode it'll use the out I lean in the heading which should alert Eileen and look and see what the Heck I've done with four. Mike's the t-bone Mike the Surest fifty-eight.

"Show beyond bud costing dot com. Now, I'll go forward here, and I will reveal and rob has been on virtual NDA, nondisclosure. Agreement because I have revealed to him the other day when we had a pre production call which is the one that I'm using. But that will be released this as I published this article and this episode the one that we're using is called sound siphon. It's from a developer called static Z software. It is commercial software. Although at the present time as we record this in February of two thousand nineteen there's a fourteen day trial, and it costs US forty nine dollars. But it's well worth it. I use it for a lot of other things. I did not purchase it just to make this possible with speaker studio, I use it for many other things, and it's very very powerful. But the main thing that we're doing in order to accomplish this goal with speaker studio in order to unleash. It's hidden power is to create virtual audio devices that appear to the different apps and do it in such a way that it works properly. And it doesn't have any of the issues that came up when I was doing it. It took me several days to get. It it to this point. And right now the article has fourteen sections in approximately six screen shots. And the very first thing that we do is we create a virtual device of the USB sources that we're going to be using. And the reason is one to make them Mano because many of our listeners knows, and I know that our colleague Ray Ortega has documented other ways to solve the fact that Skype by itself only listens. If there's a stereo signal. It only listens to the left channel. So if you have a USB interface in you have a second person connected on the right Skype won't hear that microphone. So that's a problem, but we're solving several things by doing this one. We're converting all of the USB sources to mono, which gives us a few different advantages one of them. We just mentioned that converts everything to model. So Skype is friendly with it kype is understanding all the sources that are there. Second to make all the local microphones centered because if you had a USB. Be interface where you had one microphone connected to left input one connected to the right input. And you had that connected to speaker studio, then you would be hearing that as if the person were on one side or the other which is not a good thing to do you want to have everyone centered. So this solves that problem. Also, and the third problem is that with some USB sources, and I don't know if you've experienced this ever windows, or maybe you haven't had a need even to discover it. But one of the difficulty that I had at the beginning was that when I tried to access one USB source from different apps at the same time. The system was forcing it to be what would be called seriously monogamous. In other words, it was only available to feed a single app at once it could alternate between the two, but it couldn't feed them simultaneously by creating this virtual device that solves the issue completely. So is visible to speak or studio, and it's also available to the other app. What we're using for communication? And the last thing is that by well, this is related to the first thing because of the fact that it's model it's less demanding on the system because it's a signal that appears with less of less bandwidth half of the bandwidth with the same quality. So we'll explain that a little bit when we get to the end. But when it appears in speaker studio, unlike a lot of other sources, which appear a stereo, and it gives you the option if you want stereo left or right. It comes up as mono, and then that selector, it's visible. It says mono, but it doesn't allow you to change anything because if it's mono there's no other choice. So it simplifies the user interface or the user experience. So it gives us all those advantages. Do you have any questions or comments about that before? I go to the next one. No, I think you covered it really. Well. So I think it's it sounds like a terrific pathway. Yeah. Thank you, the next virtual audio device that we create. I'm just explaining what they are in. What what they're. Advantages. I'm not describing here how to do it because that would be impossible without seeing it, and that's why I have the article, but the next one that we're creating is the mix minus virtual audio device to feed the remote guest, whether the remote guest is on Skype or unclean feed or anything else, we need to create a signal that includes everything except the guest himself or herself. So it combines the USB microphone source or sources and the speaker carts. So the name that I name this one and you'll see this. If you read the article, it's called speaker carts and Mike's so that creates virtual device, which combines these two so that you remote guests can hear it, but will not hear herself or himself, which is a problem. And that's the advantage of mixed bindis that we've talked about for years. Traditionally that's been done through hardware, but we're doing it here through software. The next one it's called create the virtual audio device for the Skype callers voice. So it creates a voice of the Skype callers voice to be. Used as an input in speaker studio, and it also makes it mono. So it reduces the system resources, and it makes it a no brainer for the user of speaker studio, it's mono you can't do anything else. So it's just going to work, and I would like to add at this point that Skype is capable of also calling someone on a normal telephone line, although they do charge for that that would work and everything that we're talking about now would work the same way. So that's something that's capable of doing with Skype as well as some other obsersa- resist. But that's something good to know. And also, I don't know now a days if they charged for it or not. But I know at least if you pay and I'm not sure if they still charge if you wanted to you could connect to more than one person from Skype. Yeah. You could create a Skype conference call with multiple people on that same call going into one source in in speaker studio. Yeah. Exactly. So that would work fine through the alternate version that I'm creating here which substitutes sound flour. For sound siphon. So that's something good to know about Skype. I thought it would mention in that part. And now I'll go to the next one. The next one is to use if you are using clean feed instead of Skype. It's a virtual device that I called chrome, and the reason that I call it chrome is because it works with the chrome browser. Of course, it could be used to play anything from the chrome browser. But the reason that I created it was in order to be able to connect clean feed to speaker studio, and you could even combine them because of the way I have it, and I'll I'll get to that. When I get to the end here. But I have it set up right now in speaker studio, so that I could have one or more person connected via Skype, and I could also have another person connected with clean feed, and they would all becoming into speaker studio. So it's becomes very very powerful. If you have a need to do it that way, you might have a co host who connects through clean p to get the very high quality audio, and then you might have to get a third person who could only be reached on the telephone while you could use Skype to do that. That and would all becoming into speaker studio, then I talk about the settings within clean feed within clean feed Perot. Because the settings are going to be different. I won't go into those details here, I will mention because it's very short what I'm going to say about Skype in Skype audio and video settings. You're going to select the source, which we created before the virtual source, which is called speaker carts and Mike's so that as far as Skype is concerned that is the source. It's called speaker carts and Mike why because it includes the local microphones and spreaker carts, but nothing else. And then within spreaker studio there's a section that rob talked about before which if you have speaker studio because I happen to be a multi-lingual person. So I appreciate this feature of speaker studio spreaker studio is trilingual, and I am also although not one hundred percent in in all of the languages. I would say that. I'm one hundred percent in English one hundred percent in Castilian and perhaps fifty percent in Italian. So if you have it in English. That section is called microphone in sources. And that's the place where I have local Mike's, and I have the signal coming from Skype and the signal coming from chrome, which would be our clean feed source, and if you have the speakers through to you in Castilian that section would be called Meco Fono if when this and if you are using spreaker studio in Italian this section would be called microphone Sor Genty, which sounds really cool. It does. And if Tonia is hearing us, maybe she'll appreciate the fact that we we mentioned that today. So we talk here about selecting the sources, and it basically, even though it took me several days to do it. I'm sure that anyone who read the documentation would be able to do it in perhaps ten minutes instead of several days because I had to solve unexpected issues. But now it everything is working fine. I know rob is hearing me, and he's hearing the clips that I played and the sound effect. So I think it's a really really powerful right piece of apt that happens to be free spreaker offers certain apps for free even for people who are on their free plan. But of course, there are incentives for people to upgrade. Yes. To the paid. And that's that's makes a lot of sense. Thanks. I think it makes sense that you're doing it that way there are many things that are in common with the road caster. And then there are things that are different than I would like to talk about. Those differences with the road caster pro there are built in compressors and preempts and aided the converters, which of course, are not built into speaker studio because speaker studios piece of software, but I completely understand that there are many people who already own either a USB microphone or USB interface. So you wouldn't necessarily need to buy hardware if you already own it, correct? In order to use speaker studio for desktop and they're also gates in the road caster Perot, and there's a little bit of equalization. But for what it is speaker studio is extremely powerful. And I think that perhaps a lot of our listeners weren't even aware that it existed. So I think it's a good idea to show off its features as we have done. And and also explain how to unleash its hidden power. Yeah. Yeah. It's something I've enjoyed using over the last few years of doing the speaker elect show, and it's been it's been great for me. I always love doing live shows. And and it gives you that ability. I hate spending hours. And hours and hours in post production. I understand and with using something like this. You can either make it literally editing free or you can edit a lot less. Yes. So either way you're saving time. Right. It gives you those options. Okay. Are there any announcements that you would like to talk about before we close today? No, I don't I don't think. So I mean, if you're looking to get the speaker studio software, just go to trigger dot com forward slash download is the place where you can actually download the software to your MAC or windows, computer, also has links to the mobile versions, but those are in the app stores for each of those platforms, and you can be found. "Example. Okay. We'll I stopped it. But it's great. But it has that feature built in and later on. We'll talk about how previously it hasn't been able to be heard by the remote breasts. But now it can with some manipulation that I've learned how to do. Yeah. And it also has a playlist function too. So you can add to the spreaker studio software a playlist of old episodes or whatever audio segments. Do you want to play in it will play in like a live linear radio station type of experience it'll play one after another or or you can build in there? If you wanna have like breaks in there or something like that. So you can create almost like a radio online radio station type of inexperience with the software. If you happen to have the studio plan on the speaker platform, so Nabil's you to create a twenty four seven live radio station, if you want to I don't know I've never used that part of it. I have one clip in there just to see how it worked. But I didn't use it more. But do you happen to know? Whether it allows you to change the order of clips while it's. Playing or you have to stop everything in order to reorder the clips that are in the playlist. I believe it has a random feature as well. So it'll play various things in a random order as well. But I'm not sure on that alanon. I haven't played around with that capability to really give you a clear answer on that. So as far as its abilities to do that. So I can't answer it for sure. But I wanted to also mentioned that it that the software has what's called auto ducking as well. And so yeah. So I don't know if we want to mention that Allen. Yes. Auto ducking is. So that if you had something with music that's recorded at full level, as you speak over it it what's in a technical term for it that tenuous it or lowers the volume of the music. So that your voice can be heard over it. Yes. And then as soon as you stop talking the volume level will rise back up again. So it's got both ends of the of the volume spectrum covered on that. And then also comes with a chat function. I think I mentioned a little bit earlier. But that makes that live experience kind of come come to light. Life with your audience. So that's built into a panel in the software as well. So you can see your listeners giving you feedback on your live parameters. It doesn't work so well when you're recording. But it's, you know, having that capability built into the production software is really a powerful thing. Because it enables you to really have that. Yes. That is only feeling works ring in the speakers live CD end when you're recording offline as what we're doing right now, it doesn't do that. And since this is the first time I have done lots of tests with this. But is this is the very first time that I've done it for an extended period of time, I'm realizing now that even if you are recording off line if your account is a free account, which is the one that I'm using in order to open the app because it won't even let you open the app until you connect it actually limits your recording duration to the duration that is provided with a free account. Fortunately, I am recording on another place. Also, so we won't have to count on the recording. That's. Being made inside of speakers through deal. But it's something that I'm just being aware of it now because it's warning me. It's coming close to the end. And it says it's encouraging me to upgrade my plan in everything and just to clarify for the listeners. I do not at least presently I don't post with speaker. But I am still friendly with everyone at spreaker just like in the prior episode. I had Angelo on the phone from blueberry. You know, I'm friendly with companies, even though I am not a paying customer for them. And I promote all the good things that they do. Right. Well, that's great Allen. You do a lot of articles that kind of profile and dig really deep into some of the more technical aspects of these platforms to so it's probably helpful for you to have those type of relationships. That's for sure. But the speaker studio software will also has output limiters built into it to it's a it's a little check box. You check off in the settings area. That will have some ability to limit the peaks that avoids. Yes. Exactly. Sure. Yeah. Right. So that's great. Yeah. And then the sources part of it which I talked about earlier about being able to bring in up to four USB microphones, you actually have to go into the settings area and turn on for microphones. It comes as default with two sources. So if you want to expand it to four you have to go in essence from when I can see total in the fluids number of microphones. Plus, whatever remote connection, you might be using whether it's Skype or clean feed or something else. I think that's part of the total. Yeah. It is. So yeah, if you're bringing a Skype call or whatever that's going to use up one of those sources, so you'll only be able to have three USB microphones, if you're bringing in a unless you have source microphones connected to an interface in in which case it's going to be seen by the system as only one correct? So if you have a mixer or an audio USB device that can take a say up to four microphones or something like that. Yeah. You can you can have a lot of people involved in your in your spreaker studio experience. Yeah. Exactly. And just as a transition because I think we've basically covered. What of the built in features are the only program that I ever saw in the past which is basically extinct now. And I use it maybe ten years ago. It was called over caster. I don't know if you've ever heard of it, rob have not well Uber castor was a program for MAC that had similar features. But the guy who was developing got sick. And he was told by his doctors if you continue working on that you're gonna die within a month. But if you stop programming, then you'll stay alive for several more years. So he had to make it choice any made a choice. It became incompatible with later versions of the MAC operating system. I don't remember what version it was. But it goes way back nine or ten years ago. So it was a longtime ago, and I'm glad to see that this application is available from speaker. And that it's continually updated. I don't know how often, but I know that it's been within the last year. There's been an update. So that's good to know. No regarding this Reeker studio app for I think that what I just said. Applies to spreaker studio for MAC end for windows. Yeah. On the prior episode. We talked about forty eight kilohertz. Well, even though currently though speaker studio outputs only forty four point one, I clarify because I've done a lot of research on that a lot of personal testing on MAC, and then I o s and it's completely friendly with forty eight kilohertz on the input in both the live digital microphone sources that may be connected. And the clips that are in the what I call the virtual carts and within spreaker studio, it's called effects. So it's completely friendly. And unlike what our colleague, rob Walsh said it. Fortunately, has no problem with chip monkeying. It just works perfectly. In fact, I'm going to play one right now that I loaded into the speaker studio. So let's listen to this. It's really short. Costing dot com. Yes. So that's a bridge that I have that bridge is in forty eight kilohertz plays perfectly and it just down samples the output. But it doesn't mess up anything that we're doing elsewhere. We're listening, and it's playing fine were recording it on a different apps. So it's completely friendly and one of the things that at the end of my article, I'm suggesting for speaker is please had the capability of recording forty eight kilohertz locally, even if the CDN, you know, that's something that could be discussed internally whether the CDN, but at least the local recording. I wish it would have the option to record wave and to record forty eight kilohertz. I agree. I think that would be fantastic capability that the you know, that could be added to the software, and I'll definitely talk to the team about that. And another clip that I'm going to play right now. Because of the fact that this is something that I happen to agree with completely with our colleague, rob Walsh. And I'm always careful when I say the last name, so I don't confuse the two of you. But this is something that he said, and I'm planning to use. Whenever the subject comes up because it's an area where we happen to be in complete agreement. So I'm going to play this now. Hey, when people say live podcast, it's podcast is not like, I completely agree with that. And I know that rob Greenlee the ones whose live or talking to me right now, quote, unquote, live live to drive is an agreement too. Because it came up on Twitter someone asked on Twitter, and he actually asked both of us I maintain Asli and we were in agreement. So that's something where spreaker as a company is unique because it works both ways. It works live and it works with podcasting prerecorded things and this week our studio app does both. So I think that was a good example of when you're doing a show. It's good to be able to play a sound bite and get the opinion of the remote guest or interviewee, whichever. It may be. So the an extremely important feature. That's built into the road caster Pearl, and it's built into the speaker studio, but as the factory recommended confirm. Figuring it up until now it was inaudible to the remote guest. And I have heard rob suffer a couple of times when he's on his show with Alex and would say, I know, Alex, you're not going to hear this. But I'm going to play this. And I also heard that recently when you were on the phone or on the show with Todd from blueberry. So I know it's probably the biggest pain point. And fortunately, it's not fault of the actual speaker studio app. It has to do with the middleware that has been recommended so far by the factory and the one that has been recommended on the MAC side is cold sunflower. And as far as I'm concerned sound flower is like kryptonite for many, many reasons, but one of the reasons is that it has prevented this from being possible up until now it has a lot of other reasons why I dislike it, and so real pain to uninstall. But I do say at the very beginning of the article that you must completely uninstall it before proceeding with the rest of the procedure that I. Cover in the article and the procedure to remove completely in uninstall. Sound flower is outside of the scope of this article because that is a whole issue in itself beyond podcasting dot com. "Today on beyond podcasting episode thirteen we discussed the spreaker studio application and how to unleash it's hidden power. We're joined today by rob Greenlee of spreaker and vox NIST. Thanks what shooting into beyond putt, costing dot com. Way. We recognize that your online radio show is much more than just a podcast your show can be broadcast live, which is not a podcast your show can be heard on a website, which isn't a podcast either. Of course, you're online radio show, can and shoot also be syndicated as a podcast by Artis where your listeners can subscribe using a standard pod catcher or you'll shows own branded app, Android, and I o s beyond podcasting dot com. Cavs microphones interfaces mixers production, soft way, recording techniques placed practices and mall. Now, enjoy another episode young podcasting dot com with your host, Alan Tipper. That's correct. I'm Ellen Tepper. Thank you for tuning into another episode of beyond podcasting. And today we're talking about spreaker studios in the title of the episode is unleash speakers. Radio's hidden power. And who better to accompany me today is rob Greenlee the man from spreaker in the United States. I guess there are many people from speaker in the United States now. But you're the one who was first in the United States. So welcome to beyond podcasting. Rob it's great to be here. Allen. Yeah. I mean, it's it's been almost four years that I've been working on the speaker project here in the US, it's been Bente. Lot of fun. I have to say, okay. Well, I'm glad to have you on the line. And for the knowledge of our listeners you and I have been in Email contact for approximately nine years since way back when you were in Microsoft working on the Zun project. And I I looked back to find out the date, and you actually had zoom that net Email address way back when? Yeah, I did. Yeah. For well. I worked on that project for was it almost seven years. So yeah, it was it was the second largest podcast soliciting platform back in the early days of the podcast medium, and then Microsoft chose. To get out of the podcasting business back in two thousand fourteen so yes. And if you're listening, and you have Rob's Email from way back when when it was that net, that's probably not gonna work anymore, though. That's right. You don't wanna use that one? I've got plenty of new ones. Like, rob at spreaker dot com. Exactly us. We'll repeat that at the end. Also. Anyway, we're going to talk first about this wonderful piece of software called spreaker studio, which is available for windows MAC, and even for mobile, but we're concentrating today on the desktop version. Specifically, the MAC version, although the feature said, I believe is the same between, MAC and windows. I've been using it for the purpose of of setting up the article, which will be published at the same time as this episode on the MAC version, but I think the core functionality is the same. So I will let rob describe the core functionality, and I will jump in once in a while and talk about how similar it is to the road caster pro even though it's not hardware the user experience. And the layout is similar. Yeah. I think that the speaker studio software for windows and MAC is a pretty good analogy to this new road caster. That's that's out. That's got everybody in the industry all excited to actually have a mixture that will do the whole mix minus thing. I think that that's what really has everyone all excited because if you buy one of those you don't have to manually configure, a mix minus or a relationship to bring in Skype call that is one thing that's in common. Another thing is the virtual carts. But I'll let you go in the order that you think is best. So the speaker studio software really at its core is a production software tool that enables you to produce your audio show either as a podcast or as a live show and fully produced the show as though it's live, and you know, to bring in chat comments into the software. So you can fully manage and produce your show as a live show, but you can also record in the software too. So you can still apply. Those time-saving kind of playing. Of the intros or excess like that in real time as you're producing the show where a lot of podcasters they will just record the audio. And then they'll add the intros and the exit in post production while you can do that all in one piece of software in a workflow. So and that's what really the software is designed to do. It's for live or what nowadays is called live to drive which in the past used to be called live to tape. But since we don't use tape anymore. We call it live to drive in it, rhymes better. Now it does. I mean, that's a that's a good term. I I don't commonly use that term Allen. But it certainly makes sense to me. But really at its core. You can use this tool for a lot of different things you can bring in up to four USB microphones into it. Then plug directly into your computer laptop, or whatever I mean, I oftentimes use a USB hub. So if I want to plug in up to four microphones like in, and let's say, I'm using a like a surface, tablet, just has one USB port. I can bring in four Mike. Phones into that one USB port and have it going to separate kind of tracks in the the speaker studio software. Yes, it can be done with with USB mics or with a USB interface like the one that you're using today. And then you could connect multiple XL our mics to the interface. So it's flexible in that respect that can work with both. Yeah. Right. Right. So so in and also has the ability to bring in external intellect calls like Skype calls or whatever through virtual sound card. I know that we will talk about that more a little bit later in the program. But that is a capability that the software has I mean, you don't have to use Skype with it. You can use other audio conferencing software as well like zoom or clean feed. Which is what we normally use for the benefit of our listeners. We we usually use clean feed on beyond podcasting. But because of the fact that rob used to work for Microsoft, and he has a soft spot in his heart for Skype. We're using Skype today. No problem, we're flexible or fly. Well, then that's the key here because the speaker studio software. Yes, flexible. So you can do a lot of different things with it. It's just kind of being able to grasp of those things and plus the hot button areas in the software. It's titled the effects area of the software is basically a touch area. So if you have a touch screen, you can touch the software to activate your intros exits any kind of prerecorded content that you would want to add your program closes even prerecorded had a pre-recorded spot. Yeah. And it also comes pre installed with some of those things too. But I wouldn't say that the audio sounds that we default install with the software when you downloaded are something that you're gonna wanna use. It's as like a sound effects of a gunshot or a cheering fans. I can play an example since I have it working with what we're going to be talking about later. So unlike what usually has been happening you'll be able to hear it. So here's an example.

"I think is very powerful and that's always been somewhat missing at the conference so we're taking a little bit of a different approach on this and i wanted also just mentioned something about something else you may have noticed that's going on with the show right now as we have a little bit of like a like a little kind of what it sounds almost like a skip town on the on the recording of this show and i believe it may have something to do with my my surface computer kinda slowing down so if you hear like little skips or little clips sounds in the audio i believe it's just the surface computer that i have not really kind of being able to keep up with running guy running the speaker studio software and doing all the coding and doing all the things that have to be done to produce a show so i may have to get a new computer that's why i guess what i'm saying i'm telling you my next computer is going to be a gaming computer searcy because i want something like i always say i look computers that are good for audio and some people say max and all that and get time but i'm not america and it's like i finally i'm just like you know what i don't care if you're working with video or playing video games whatever it is audio those things have great audio systems too but i need something that like will quite what are these like internal like cooling systems you've seen these real complicated ones i don't even on lights and everything rob but like the cooling system liquid cooling nitrogen what i need all that stuff you to more than me but i mean like even with the stuff i'm doing i'm i'm running skype and spreaker studio when i'm doing all this stuff and i got multiple windows up sometimes reading articles and that it's just a lot right so i'm with you man it's like you really kind of have to i hate to say it but every two three years upgrade your computer because they've become so much faster than the internet becomes faster and you got to be able to handle one hundred megabytes second and all the stuff so the surface that i haven't i do the show on his my surface pro feet which i got like it's cool to now that i've had this thing so it's ancient overtime heat starts to separate the cpu on the on the motherboard and start slowing down just the natural progression of these type of pool so unfortunate i know i pay two thousand dollars for this thing so here's the thing because we're all working on laptops wants a laptop because especially right you've got to go to all these trade shows and you're traveling all the time so i get it but i mean seriously i want to have a laptop for that stuff if i do but i need like a desktop with all the you know you know the the the case that looks like it came from space you know it looks like an alien where they've got even these new ones that look even crazier rob that just date work perfectly like they've mastered them that you could run any video game you could have probably todd from the new media show he's probably got a computer system like that or something that just you know balls to the wall just you know super fast more ram than you'll ever need i need the same thing so i that's what i'm saying who knows it could be on my end i've heard other people have this same problem when i've connected with them when they get i mean i've heard it on other show so it's not just it's not a unique thing to just you know no no it's not at all i mean it's something you know i had my computer's piling up over the last fifteen years i had to take to pc recycler which is what you have to eventually with someone of stuff you.

"Your chrome browser and you should be able to find us if you're an android user and we know that that google podcasting is pretty rudimentary and basic but it's it's something that's built into your your android device so it's available there but you're certainly welcome to use the speaker podcast radio app it's also in there as well so in that that apple's available on ios and android so we got lots of ways that you can get access to this content and in this program so you know that's kind of the purpose here is that everybody likes to use their own process for getting to us we're also available in the masan echo smart speakers you can get us over there too so there's lots of ways to get us right alex yeah and i see rob anyone interested in having a app like the speaker live app i'm considering doing this actually right now for the xm experience and live talk only because for life taco would be perfect right because you could listen to it live on your phone and then call in from your phone so it works both ways but spears running special i just saw this pop across my spreaker studio when i opened it up to for you get to apps for the price of one i think through july fourth is the date it ends or something so that was cool to see i was like maybe now's the time to get an app oh it's actually in in we made some changes as i mentioned in the lead in so you can make sure that the apas is looking good and and you know and we'll talk about that a little bit later in the episode guest coming up alex pretty fast it's coming up next month in philadelphia july twenty third to twenty six and and speaker oxidants is going to be there in force we're going to have a bunch of people there and how many people this year because you got vox nest and blog talk right the people from blog talk vox that's whatever you probably six seven people there so that many okay well it's not like on bodfish it's not like pod fest where we had the whole team there so but fast you'd think you'd have more at podcast movement isn't that the biggest one well we actually had a team meeting the and it just happened that we just had all one place it happened to be during podcast so that was back in february people showed up to make sure they didn't get fired i get it yeah well sure no but no because at the pa last podcasts moving here in l a you had how many people four five five people i think it was i think it was close to seven i think we had yeah yeah well i think we had myself francesco tonia sergio chara and jay and in jj sorry yeah so andy in amy amy amy yeah and yeah i don't really you've met amy but okay and then there was a guy from blog talk radio is name zandi right andy yeah yeah yeah forgot i'm remembering now i was just thinking that this debris ker booth you happy pool well i yeah andy you'll actually left the company so so that kind of the aso he's not going to come out this year so no wonder he never returned my calls always out does that what was going on okay i'm i'm saying kidding no but anyway so so we're excited about podcast with its from what i'm hearing it's had more attendees book booked for that show than they've ever had the past so it should be a really really terrific event it's it's considered to be the the largest podcasts in conference in the world right now so it's pretty exciting so is.

"Talking to the hindenburg folks about doing you know a speaker integration and with them so it's it's i told you about them rob podcast god they're amazing great product i mean i think it's something that makes sense i mean competitors are in there already so it just makes sense air software just got gotta say i want you know over cell it you guys are talking to them but it's great softwares you know at podcast movement the one thing i will say though it's a little spending so spreaker studio is free that's like the huge thing about speaker studio and things like acid and wordpress and in berg's costly you know and there's there's other solutions out there i'm not going to get it but that's great that you're in talks with them i didn't know that rob fantastic also one thing that came up this week to as you know probably with a lot of different podcasters on a weekly basis and and i came across one that i was working on this week that had this concept of really expecting instant success in podcasting because good luck bigname they've got you know they're popular they've got a lot of stuff going for them but it was really kind of a challenge in they tended to be very very demanding and expecting everybody to jump over all sorts of hoops to give them what they wanted and it was in it's really unlike the experience that i have working with podcasters i think most people realize that it's it's it takes a lot of work to build a show and that people that are willing to help you you should appreciate them.

"You're a busy guy i got a job i got i got three jobs i got my job job the corporate job i got the experience that i got the speaker last show they're on are they take time out of your day and that's what every podcast or faces is if they have a fulltime job than podcasting kind of has to get squeezed in there somewhere and that's what we're gonna talk about a little bit today is about the whole concept of pod fading but we stream this show live every wednesday at three pm pacific six pm eastern from speaker lifestyle dot com and you can also hear us on the amazon smart speakers as well speaker has a skill there and we have lots of podcasts over there including this one so you can go listen over there we also have speaker live show apps for android so you can get us in that app as well all of our archives and actually get this life show right in that app so go go check that out and it's a it's a very attractive app alex it is always loved the speaker live especially like speaker studio but the speaker apt to listen to podcasts is a great pot a little per chal to the speaker studio for desktop softer that's where we're using right now to record and stream this live while we're talking about that because i know that this is this is the speaker life show right and it's all about this and sometimes we we move away from actually using spreaker studio but i gotta say that i've been seeing a lot of people in blogs and podcasting rob you see this problem we all the time especially when you go to these events and their record skype calls and everyone's still mystified by this whole thing spreaker spent a lot of flipping time figuring this out they haven't found speaker studio like no.
