"Awesome. Thanks andrea leeds. Great to see you. Thanks for joining us today. Yeah thanks for having me. And thanks for that intro. That was great. Wilson's ryan cut our time. A little short. I'm gonna try jump right in But before we go into that tummy before he got into the theme just thirty seconds on just women's sports. Yeah just from. Sports is exactly what the name says. We cover just women's sports and It's kinda touched on in the show but the whole idea is four percent of sports coverage is dedicated women's sports. But that doesn't match what's happening in the space. Attendances of viewership is on general. Interest is up participation of until. There's this huge sort of unmet opportunity to really cover women's sports and that's what we're doing. That's incredible you guys are killing it right now and obviously injury mentioned it your background. You play d. Wants a soccer at stanford your professional soccer player with today's theme around culture. I'm curious what similarities have you seen from working in a team as a culture and then treating company and building the culture around that. Yeah i think this is really an area where sports in we work really really overlap. And i think there's two things i think are just hold true for both one. Is you know knowing what you're doing knowing your mission knowing your purpose you're on a team. Usually you know you want to win the league. You want to win the national championship right. The goals are really really clear. So making the goal is really really clear for the company where you're heading where you wanna go and what timeframe i think. That is just really critical. I've seen that really drive. Culture both on the team and in the workforce and then second is empathy. When you're on a team you can't help but just appetizing feel for your teammates. Rarely you're on the line to fitness and someone's struggling like you're given when push or maybe someone's pushing you or you know you're showering in locker room like you bond and you get to know these people and who they are inside now and i think that does matter nuts. It's tough as you scale. But i think just generally leading with empathy and treating everyone as people that have their own you hopes and dreams and needs But one a function as a team like that for me. Like is just very clear as day in sports in work. That's great what you're certainly speaking. Our language empathy is in our date. Dna here at alabama companies And another thing that we have in common i think is the passion that comes founder. Right gary is very passionate about the work that we do anything. You're super passionate about women's sports. I'm curious in the world of culture. How do you kind of build a culture around that passion that all your employees needs hire company. Feels that same way i. This is like a really good.

"And it's pretty intentional. The opposite of shelter is bad for kids and make some tough. But it's fucking bad so you wanna shelter. But now it's time firmly grow up so i'm alleviate this jim kids don't you know stay you know. Stay close to the girls practice And tell the wife. There's husband a wife coaches and i say okay so tell about that. Bully already told you about that shit and then me and my daughter had up to her soccer practice. She's got an hour and a half basketball followed by hour and a half soccer. I think this is good for kids. And i just dropped her off and then i come back to watch my son and a. It's it's interesting. There's a kid on his team. It's just really incheon. See how kids develop and the best kid. One year is not the best kid the next year and some kid who was on my team when i coached my son. This kid was always spaced out. Well now he's locked in. I don't know what happened. But he's locked in and he's like he scoring all these buckets and scrimmage and my son was the alpha before this cronin. He's not now. He's playing pretty good d- but he really needs to get that that competitiveness back that hopefully. He's not gone forever. And i don't know i don't know why i want it for him so that i think it's it's not for me. I already had much success ever wanted in sports. It's for him. I want him to. He's like me he's not he's not a life crusher. But you still got a no win to fucking crush some shit right and so another question but i got a crush. This comeback crisis podcast. I gotta make sure to tune into it. You don't think about your own your own shit for a whole hour. My job's done. And i do that trying to four times a week and i got a crush poker. That's fucking easy for me to be honest and i got a crush. You know other stuff my business and and but that's not my assum. I default my default is. Let's fuck and chill. Let's have a good time. Let's have fun and then when it's time for me to be an introvert on create some art wherever that's ideal but anyways all my son at least have the gear of shit. I need to crush right now. Because otherwise life's tough if you just wanna chill all life's tough. You gotta have that crush gear as well and i don't worry about that at all with my daughter she's stone called crusher. I worry about her. I don't even worry about her. To be honest anyways his practice ends we back up to her soccer field. And i haven't play goalie because his coach how to play goal and he didn't know he could use his hands in the first game shit show and i'm trying to score and he stopped them balls and i'm paying him if he stops the ball. I don't know. I just bribe them to try hard and then when her actions over i say if you do a lap around this whole field. There's like this dirt track if you do a lap with both feet right foot left foot your soccer ball you know. It's getting dark. Partly i want him to to. You know work on his dribbling illinois to grow up a little bit like go trick or it's you know it's kind of dark would you run this track. You know and kind of get tougher. I don't know. I said i'll get. I'll give you five more bucks so you'll get twenty when i drop you off. My my daughter did an hour and a half a basketball..

"When crew lost his hair he started coming over and a beanie matching beanie. And then when he'd be at our house he would hop around on one leg more use the crutches or the walker whichever one crew wasn't using. It's just so cute. So i think just having has friends come over and be light. You know his friend told him he goes crew. You don't expect. I didn't even notice when you lost. Your hair knows wall. I'd i look what different his friends like. I didn't even notice. Was just just the sweetest thing and i think chest. And he's really attached to his family right now just having his family close by. He's really he and his sister. His older sister always really close. But now now. There's a bond there that i can't even describe. It's been pretty incredible to see that through through the awful and ugly terrible there. Are these distinct that you just can't can't put a price on you know. Yeah this bond that that they have forever to her helping him and caring for him and getting him things. He's gonna remember that for sure. My next question was going to be. What has this been like for your family. What how has it changed you. I remember that first week grieving for my life. As i knew it just went. Our life is changing forever. And you know just things as simple as taking my daughter to preschool. That was that was hard because you know I can't leave crew alone when he's when he's first home from the hospital because if he gets a fever he has to get to the hospital within an hour and get antibiotics right so just so many little things i just our freedom to just are not our freedom but just that care free by life as we knew it was over i knew it was never gonna be the same So yeah we've just. We stayed at home a lot. But it's been nice to you know we've we've had a lot of time together. We watch a lot of movies played games and had a lot of swim nights at our house. And it's just it's just been a slower paced life. You know one of us always has to be home with crew so yesterday my older daughter had a soccer game and my husband took her. I stayed home with him and you know. He's kind of at the end of his chemo. Week so he usually feels better by this point and i said hey. Is it okay. If i go to get jan's game and he said no mom. I just don't want you to leave okay in before. He would have been like great later. So yeah just. That's what's changed a lot. We don't really get date nights very often. Few and far between we have company at our house like every every few weeks while we have long hospital stays. But i don't know it's just it all of a sudden sadly if he comes normal you know i mean. I've lost big part of myself as far as doing things that i love to do. Yeah currency amazing. And she brought when that tiny brought over all the ingredients to make cookies. she said. i'm gonna come over and we're going to bake and it was so fine. I may have gained five pounds or ten from those cookies but it was so fun. And you know things like that that. I used to love doing that. I just couldn't pull myself up to do anymore we have. I was just so tired all the time has it's not just our at the hospital. You're at the house. And there's just a constant worry and constant wake up in the middle of the night. And you know i can't imagine how emotionally exhausting has been for you guys so but i mean i don't know everything i have. I have a good feeling that you'll get it back. You'll get a lot of those things that you have will come back. You know our friend. Amanda who was on this podcast last year. Childhood cancer awareness. I feel like it's amazing to see linden and her curly long beautiful hair and just running around and she plays with my annabel and they just yes. It's like nothing ever happened to her. And that's what she told me she's like this will be behind you and it's just. It's just going to say my. Did this ever happen. And that's what i keep telling crew. He says to me so pretty often. Mom i just. I can't believe this happened to me. I said i know but but someday you're gonna look back and you're going to go. Wow i can't believe that even happened. Yeah you know. So yeah. I mean i'm starting to feel the poll. I mean bef- for a while. I didn't even have the desire to take leave my house to even i quit going to the grocery store and just insta- everything to but i love going to the store. You're on avocados. allie everything. So i'm starting to feel like that's starting to come back. I'm starting to feel okay. Maybe i'll get to the gym now and you know just starting to feel some of that burden lifted. Yeah i feel like when this happens to or not just this but when these tragic things are really really life altering things happen to people i love. Sometimes i feel like i don't know what to do. What has been actually helpful to you. Oh my gosh so many things. I don't even know where to begin. I think just like the time that you came over to bake with me that got me out of the biggest funk and obviously like dinners people bring you dinners by offering to you know. Take the other kids to do stuff. That was all huge. I had so many friends give us gift cards for door. Dash shen meal delivery services which was amazing ya. I'm trying to think of what else i think. Just you know just knowing that my friends were still there. Because even times where i could go out i i just didn't have it in me to get out and see people and get the questions and you know so just knowing that my friends were still there and checking on me and hey i'm here and i'm at the store right now. Is there anything you need. Just those little things yeah. I'm wondering when you go to church or when you go to like a soccer game or whatever. Is it helpful when people say like house crew. What's the update or is it better when people were like just hate me so good to see you know i mean it's great because it's like the elephant in the room you know it's like and i get that because i used to be that person mike. How are they doing. You know it's in it's great. I don't mind being asked about him at all. It just especially especially when i'm asking so much of people. Please pray for him. Please fast for him. My and everyone's doing that. I feel like i owe it to you to let you know you know current shaking all you don't you don't you know i just feel like i want you to know that it's hoping that what you're doing and you know you've done by job of that though and i guess for anyone who is listening to this who may be in this position our some someday later carrying bridges. What you guys have for kind of like your blogger journal or whatever you wanna call it. Yeah it's been so helpful. Because i feel like i. I'll get a notification that there's new journal entry and i go and read it and i feel like i know exactly. Yeah where are you guys are at in you know well. It was so nice. I was really it was recommended..

"Law to the whole project and number two. Don't break down the tasks into specific junk using the same principle so let me explain all that stuff that i mentioned and again you can see this in the show. She saw all written out for you. We can take all that stuff and we can do something about it okay. So here's what i recommend to achieve. This is the sort of roof scenario. That i would. I would just recommend you through a plane. Parkinson's law to this entire project. Okay number one set an almost unrealistic timeframe forgetting getting this entire thing launched not done because dunn's to transient donis easy. Subjective right we have to say launched so number one almost unrealistic timeframe forgetting this entire thing launched. Let's say one week and anything you do not get done in. That time simply does not get done but you must launch. You've got your time. But she got you win a one week or you can now decide how much time you have per day to spend on this. Let's say let's be realistic about being podcast. Is i'm not going to say like a lot of podcasts. Coaches are going to give you your okay. spend a full week. That's that's crap. You're not going to do that because you don't have time. So let's be realistic. Let's say you've got thirty minutes per day for five days. You're giving yourself a week but you can't work because the kids are soccer when you said soccer and football the kids are at football all right so you got thirty minutes monday through friday. Which gives you two and a half hours to do. The entire thing is tight all right but number three. You know it's tight so you choose a lead magnet that's more simple and effective than you ever thought possible. It's not a big e book like the one. I mentioned earlier that central india guide. No no. he's a checklist. A single she of air for british really valuable. He's a checklist on how to apply. Parkinson's.

U.S. Soccer Offers Men's, Women's Teams Identical Contract Proposals

"Us consideration is offering the women's national team identical terms to the men in terms of contract from the federation But the women who are appealing an equal pay lawsuit. This is a long ongoing situation. Said just a publicity stance what what. What do they mean. What's what's going on. This is a really really complicated. We've mentioned before. Show the should be complicated issues. I what really annoys me is people just without having any understanding to say equal pay equal pay. No because it's a lot more complicated than that. The reason the women said this is a publicity stunt is because the women aren't a very different situation to men when it comes to when it comes to equal pay because for example most of the men get their entire healthcare recovered they play for professional most of them in europe and stuff and they get a lot more benefits from playing for the national club. Which a lot of the women who might play in the wwl less money they don't necessarily received so you can't treat them one hundred percent equally. That's not what the women are asking

Some Players Aren't Convinced by US Soccer's 'Identical' Men's and Women's Contracts

"So. This story arose on tuesday afternoon. That us soccer has offered identical contracts to both the us men and women On the surface you would look at that and say oh well the. Us would have been asking for equal pay and it appears as though they have achieved that they do not see it that way. No they don't they issued a tweet from their. Us national team he eh. So players association us pr stunts and bargaining through. The media will not bring us any closer to a fair agreement. In contrast we're committed to bargaining in good faith to achieve equal pay and the safest working conditions. Possible the proposal. That usf made recently recently to us does neither. Now here's where we have a problem. what i would say is knowledge vacuum. I don't know what was in that proposal. I don't know the ins and outs of the pause. meg From the athletic. Who just great on this she tweets. Us soccer just issued a statement on the us women's national team on us mnt cba's it states that usf has offered identical contract proposals today proposing single cbs structure with revenue sharing usf believes best way to achieve these important goals is by the us women's national team players association on the us ns tpa negotiating together. That's the men's association however this quote marks this is from us soccer if the players association's choose to continue to negotiate separately as they have to date us. Soccer will invite the us women's national team to sit in on the negotiations with the us ns and vice versa in the interest of full transparency

Fight Your Own Fight Against Biden's Vaccine Mandate

"So getting back to Biden's ridiculous, outrageous, unconstitutional, immoral vaccine mandate. Why is it immoral? It is immoral because Joe Biden does not have the power to do this. There is a reason we restrict power to the federal government. Because power corrupts the site, Lord Acton. Absolute power corrupts. Absolutely. That is a golden inviolable rule. There is a reason we have a separation of powers in the United States. With limited powers under each branch. As delineated by our Constitution. Remember, the bill of Rights is not a document of what the government can do. It's a document about what the government can't do to you. Shall not be infringed things. You have the right to do that The government can't stop. The government can establish a religion. It's things the government can't do not you. Where is all that gun? If you don't have sovereignty over your own body and your own medical decisions, and the government is going to continue to pretend that natural immunity is not a known scientific phenomenon, then you are perfectly within your moral compass to ignore this civil disobedience is as American as oranges at the halftime of a soccer game. You do not have to obey. By your moral code immoral and unconstitutional orders. Well, ocean will tell you all what? You know what? Oh, sure, I don't. I don't genuflect before OSHA or anyone else. US Men Defeat Honduras, 4-1

"Much up for about an hour last night and then we stop staring into it and we scored a few goals and all of a sudden. I think that everything is going to be absolutely perfect forever forever and ever it got bleak last night it got dark. It's amazing it's almost like. Us soccer twitter jayjay. It's of all like the twitter spaces. I think it's the most manic roller coaster ride. It's crazy is for for people who don't follow a lot of us soccer accounts or whatever like it's a crazy place. And i think last night we actually at halftime had a manager. Change greg bear halter. He was fired on. Us soccer twitter at the end of the first half. Then after the subs anthony robinson's go. We played three minutes without a manager. But after robinson's goal bear halter was actually rehired and finish the game out as manager. So he's now back in his second stint with us soccer and it was very interesting as well for an hour and starting mls players. Terrible idea what are you doing. Joe bed better terrible. How We Can Bring More Play to Our Lives, and Why It's Worth Doing

"Is this philosophical movement that it's like okay. Well if you can survive on like just water and you don't need anything then you can be happier or what around the cats. That doesn't sound like vaughn. At all that that was not my and i looked into like the the buddhist virtual of like. Oh maybe i need to get centered. And i do love mindfulness and meditation and stuff but i figured that that just gets me back to zero right that if i've been stressing myself the heck out trying to optimize my life and every possible way. If a couple times a day i get back to the center and get back to zero. That's great that's really helpful. Helps me kind of recenter and and think about things that are important. But that's not enough either. Getting getting back to zero is not really the goal of where i wanna do. I wanna follow like joy and passion. Play and i wanna like remember what it feels like to be a kid and be that geeked up about stuff that you're like me and i can't wait to get out of bed today and i. I kinda found that no amount of pushing is going to make that happen. You can't force fun. You can't plan and strategize and optimized and schedule play in a way that that's interesting and so i just sort of got to the place rose like i need to give all this up and then i found the play philosophy All kinds of cool people but I just read a ton of books over the last year around Play and enjoyment and enjoy and that really seems to resume of me with somebody who had a really fun playful childhood. I remember riding our bikes out with my brother and our two friends and just spending from sunup to sundown goofing around and playing and having fun or doing wiffle ball or Soccer or Anything whatever this word of mouth was trying to learn how to juggle or ride a unicycle or or something really loving the majority of my life right and when i ran out of something to do we came up with something else. If we got tired we rested and if we were hungry than we found something to eat and we didn't try to schedule those things tried to to live at his and that to me that philosophy made. Yeah i think for me. There's an element of spontaneity. Which you know if you if you try to plan everything in your calendar you know a blank space then you get lost in overwhelm of trying to get it all done right as if you're ever gonna get it all done with just allusion that we've sold ourselves and then you get to feel the guilt and the shame when you're done bad press. I didn't get it all done right. Okay where can you step back. I'm gonna create some. I'm gonna play it both ways. I need to have space for play free.

"soccer" Discussed on The Soccer Specialist Podcast

"Com. See i slip that in there as pretty good right. Remember it's not about whether you can get faster than someone else. It's about improving your own speed so with that proper training. Some with average speak and become above average somewhere with above average speed. Maybe they can become elite and keep in mind all else. Being equal speed is most definitely a game changer. Yes one of the greatest things about soccer's all these other things you can do side. Us lettuce in the help. Make you a great player. Vision awareness all that stuff checking your shoulder but guess what the faster players can do those things to then. We're already right. So you want to also work on improving your speed because speed kills. It's a sports cliche. For a reason it is true. It is true in soccer. And it's really really an important part of the game. Even at the highest levels with the most technically skilled players speed plays a huge huge role with speed. You can win more fifty fifty balls. You can get behind defenses easier. Stretch him out off the ball runs. You can break defense down out wide and get dangerous crosses off or or maybe you're overlapping as a fullback and when a defender knows you a superior speed they're going to back off a little bit they're afraid to get beat they're gonna give you more time and space to make good decisions as a defender you can race mistakes yours and teammates by quickly closing on opponents. You can stop transitional attacks okay you can high press that if you have a condition fast team the thai pressing you put a lot of pressure on ball closing on the ball. Quick right that causes havoc out there. So i talked. I've mentioned getting stronger before we get into that. I want to go a little bit about the other thing which is improving mechanics of course and for me. I like to focus on acceleration mechanics not top end mechanics. Acceleration mechanics first of all can be With improved acceleration mechanics and strike. You can improve acceleration speed via training a lot more than you can't top speed which is awesome for soccer players because you're acceleration speed is much more important.

"Pulisic despite clearing kobe protocols and training. Monday and tuesday in nashville did not travel to san salvador. He's gonna miss tonight's match as a result. Your member prolific announced. He tested positive for covert nineteen back on august eighteen then spent at least ten days in isolation so means he's staying back at the us camp in nashville to keep training ahead of sunday's qualifier against candidate. Here's from the coach. On the decision to leave pulisic behind we really didn't get to assess him In a proper way and seed his fitness levels the next couple of days. We'll be working with him to see you know to see exactly where he is. And we'll get a report when we get back you know are are more arguably our best. Best player can't participate. It's covert two weeks before he and he's out of Potential three games last played on august fourteenth in the premier league against crystal palace. Here we see a look at the. Us record without christian pulisic to be fair. They played a lot of games in recent memory without their star player. What's the impact specifically for the us. Her against greg called them their best player right debatable. It's i don't think it's debate. Christian pulisic is not only your best player he asks happens to be the symbol to all konkan calf for what is this new generation of stars. The man just want a championship title when you talk about the national team and how far they can go. The conversation starts and ends with christian pulisic so you don't have them for arguably the most important game of this atop the very first one because as we've seen in previous editions it doesn't matter what country you're if you start off on the wrong foot the us showed it lasts. Go around by losing. Well it puts you behind the eight ball. mexican dozen. I probably the wrong thing to do on Dated on he obviously got a red card and he was asked to leave the game but There's been so many Furious about that specific reaction You know seem knitting sudan was probably east. One of the best players have ever played for france so what seen lose his cool. That quickly and dire of nowhere was really really shocking. For everyone there are some people that said that the other player was talking. Really bad things about Cd stems sister or family. Ondon hot enough on. Put it in on the discussion which it was a wrong move for his team. But personally i think i would have not way sooner. If someone says anything with my family i will snap. So i don't eve- got his troops again. I don't think there's been off confirmation against theory of the theory from any side but if eve doubled of would be to I will understand that decision. On definitely italy's players have also been kicked out of the game. Because you know you can dog trust during soccer games. it's really comment to doctrines to your opponents to try to distract them to try to make them insecure or made them trying to get their heads. It's it's just common and data one thing that has been going on for many many years but i think there is a line that no one not no-one acknowledgement one. A one single player shoot grows honest. You know looking families or saying disgusting things about families friends significant all this line that you string cross our new the theory that i said it's it's the truth. Italy's player definitely crossed the line and definitely deserve what he got it. Was you know pretty pretty big impact on you know. We've seen it dan. He did play in the stomach with his head. Which is very impressive. Because you know you wouldn't think that he would use his head out our guest like maybe punt team or slap team. Or i don't know he's head that definitely dies. I feel like that is why these specific sample has been you know. Start my head for many years now. Actually so yeah i think that game i do believe france and a blue seen anita linda going to the next song. Or maybe i think it was the final actually final of the world cup or the european. I'm not sure what specific determine why year but definitely crazy chris. Play the sport of soccer develop. Moros were implement an more historical landmarks set. But i think it's a good that we talk again because something's remainders thing on maybe some of you have already forgotten them. So i think it's important to Don't come at this kind of things. So let's talk about soccer but the history of soccer Honestly if someone asked me before doing the these guys hollow on go was soaking. Ben debt invented. I would have never guessed it. I think i mean it is clear that soaker it's pretty much. It was pretty much in england while it was not the only country died the first countries give me that started playing it. it was deacon. Treat that gossips. that everything would make sense because soccer in england it's fling portent and really popular. It's it makes sense that he was one of the first countries to start. I guess Syria of games or Small league but soaker that we know he had literally nothing nothing to do with this okay that he was you know other than two thousand years ago breakers trace the history of soaker back more than two thousand years ago in places and gatling guns like china. Greece ron and birds of central merrick or soclean too hot day or they claim the have start the third this sport but it was england that transition it soaker of or what debris are many other people are on the will football. This is one thing that i always have gone seasons with my friends in the us. I always like why do you school soccer y not football because you know you keep the bulb with your foot and they're like you know what there is a really great point but you know we call american football football because you can also get more with your foot. Which is it's i know i know during a football game. Only the key care is usually the one that kicks the ball with their foot but their rule say that every year is allowed to do it. So that's why You know it football would make sense for for me. Makes no sense to call soccer football. Because like they are not allowed is for the goalkeeper. The goalie the elevates had not allowed to touch the ball. We've there cans or any other part of their body. Besides legs food Even like your test and your head. I guess but not your arms so i think that was. It's it was a is a great conversation to have. Because you know it's pretty much agree to disagree. But i think it's really really great to have these conversations because he brought it brings on you took pigs and your discussions turn you know. It's nice to know things. The english are credited with recording the first uniform rules for sport in grinning including forbidding tripping appointed and that in the poll with hands Before the official rules were list. Soaker was really violent. Goodbye linking people were allowed to punch their opponent's kick their opponents on in some cases release Gators people died played soccer. Which is insane if we think about it like now. There's been a couple players that hot. Saudi passed away because of playing soccer because of different things like heart conditions or they have a heart attack on the feel or something like that which is really sad. But there's like nine out of cases would insane. Because in england before the rules worst timeless many people were dying blaine soccer because the game was source violin and strong and competitive that some of some kings in europe forbidden forbid soaker to forbid their citizens to play soccer because they needed them to go to war and win You know byles for them. Which if we think about it sense because you know in those two thousand years ago can have you know there was a lot of wars and bottles so it will make sense that the kings were like yeah. I don't really rule like my soldiers to play soccer. Because i don't want to die playing it not fighting for my entree guests who i guess. I can say that issues insane. I cannot imagine game of soccer with a referee or with more than the blazer. I love the feel or even like punch their opponent's the only i only room i remembered these really like i don't think i ever forget this fight. I guess i believe he was the work and it was friends versus easily unseen sedan. Which is currently it's the real madrid.

"Welcome back to the mc soak it but guess before the commercial we were talking about some of the games that Happy going on in the women's soccer women's soccer during the twenty twenty olympics. We took our the netherlands on the us in crazy gracie bennett iran. We also talk about sweden. That beat japan three to one. And then we talk about australia versus england With the end up despite oscar was forty. Three in favor of australia a name. We talk about the craziest of all games canada. Brazil brazil were. Canada ended up winning against brazil. We soup rice brewery much. Everyone weeds aids Obviously accents because canada has not been Greasy good at soccer for a long long time in this olympic proving that they're back on the day can compete with great teams like brazil. Now we're going to talk about the mems Some runs in soccer some of the quarterfinals on. And who's going to the semi-finals on how it's the who do. I am the though. I think it's gonna win. Go in the olympics. So the first The first game. That i wanna talk about eats Friends bursts who's japan. Manson friends looking back in the european. German date got eliminated by Switcher lenny from not mistaken inaccuracy penalty ron. So the fact that they're competing in the olympics. Even if obviously don't have the same thing that they have in the european tournament but it's still They have great tinted of They have played really really good in the military. Six year parents scorer. We'd i'm shocked honestly. I do know that european. It's a great great great Team on the hard. Like many different teams in japan where Usually some retired to replace from europe there to play so i'm not really surprised that this I think they did go was really good I think number eighteen tried to score but the goal keeper was were to You know Saved the goal but then Another play from japan was to score with was lingo on great team effort For japan and this happened twenty six minutes into the game. In the military. Three japan had A score again Number two is score for japan Giving the lead to one. Which i'm i'm actually. I was pretty shocked. Like the way japan just like they have so much. Control the ball. They obviously hot more power. Dan france the or not our more procession either. No their offense was working routed Through the least adversary. Three minutes of the game. I think they were attacking alone and they were not as worry as french Into the defense. I think france defense was definitely really really wake wits obviously shocking and surprising because I will not expect. I expect that for france. Obviously because i thought they were honestly gonna win. A naked stalk. Japan's gives me I i used. I was missing a lot of like offense. Attacks like from friends Either if they were like miscommunication or they were just like not. I guess trying to like i dunno between i mean. It's obviously they were trying to win. But like deers the way you would bring riches. Not because japan's scored a third goal in the minutes. Sixty nine Unlike i do believe that friends gave up i in. They look defeated by demand. Like seventy five thurgau. They look definitely defeated and they jurisprudence defense would use like not good at all like obviously they are trying to give authorised related to the goalkeeper. Pick like if the defendant is not working the goalkeeper doesn't have must to do number eight was the one scored. The third goal for japan on a unity is suing dia game. French was just not playing as good as i know. they can. japan and the game with a fourth goal in the mid ninety one by Also nine on it was years like not it for friends like your brand beat them pretty hotly for two zero on issues. Like i don't know. I use i don. I can not like when i see them Play i again believe. Does the same friends that you know. It was playing the european german of one day. Workup a couple of years ago. And even in european german. There's something missing in that team. And i don't know if it's communiqu miscommunication eats like i honestly the no maybe like. Obviously they're being against teams better than them Japan blade absolutely incredible I do think that it's believable. Huggers the blade and we are going to talk in japan. We are going to talk about the game. That bream happen on saturday and he was. You've been against new sealion. Guess what have been ben naltese years. We love penalties. Why place don't but it's just like it's been gracie how many penalties we had in this termine In honestly like most of the german so far soaker throughout the entire like ninety minutes japan. i believe how More controversial and they have more chances of scoring bad data then the goalkeeper absolutely he was really really good for new zealand on defense. I think nissen a little weak not to week because obviously everyone was not able to score. But i do think offers louis like japan had control of the game. Pretty much I think new zealand had a couple of good changes of taking the lead but depends. Defense or goalkeepers were there did not allow new zealand to score any goals. Same thing goes from ritchie that they didn't allow japan but overall i do think that european had more precision off the ball had more I dunno i guess energy like more island. They created mortiz that new zealand to score a goal But even i think the best player in new zealand's it's definitely. The goalkeeper is not easy coming to a stop every single player in your opponent like in your rival team every two bits because that's Japan voice attacking Is like it really hard for Obviously the goal keeper from ucla zealand but I think he did. I really really really great job. Defending steam on not allowing Japan to score which overall israel hopping in both teams like both goalkeepers were definitely really good And that's why like there was no. It wasn't like a boring game as sometimes happens when in teams don't score. It turns out to be a little boring. I don't think this was the case. Because i think both teams were really active. They were trying really hard to not allow the other team to score and does what. He was really really intense The obviously the game went to extra time and then we went to Vanities both depend on new zealand score both goals in the first penalty round and then number three Floor new zealand Miss more than he mused japan's goalkeeper. Tony was able to stoppable. I think he was a great great great stopped. He just jumping on the right side on the right angle on you know is yours like it is what it is it's It's a great opportunity for to shining penalty. Run japan score the second goal for giving them deleted the point in the moment on two one new zealand Miss the penalty on doukas. Pretty bad because he means because they keep her stoppable he means because he threw the ball so high-near that even closer to you know beginning second. Japan scored the third goal which it was clear that they wanted these victory. And it's it's it's queued for me that they're playing home and they're playing really get that for. It's really really cool. I think he's cool when a comte place as good done. I don't believe european has any gold medals in soccer And if they do. It's been all wild scenes. They seems they want. I think I think this team the team that explain In this soccer in the olympics in three twenty east show. Matt's better done any other team that i've seen like any other job panting that i've seen in any olympic came pretty much so i am unruly. Glad that the playing this And then japan. Japan number five score the fourth final goal giving japan the bigotry Of the game on obviously knicks. They were able to go into the next round We it's the Semifinals if i'm not mistaken Okay next game. I wanted to talk about is the saudi our average. Who's roussel on these hopping. A couple of days ago. i think it was A once they Brazil won the less goal for the India only twenty sixteen and it was really meaningful for them because they will on in real meaning the capital of brazil so they won't home and it was really nice to see the whole audience and everyone. You know weaned the first ever go from brazil. Which i was mistaken. I i really thought they have won before gold medal in olympics but did even the first ever goal for brazil encircling at the olympics. Worse in two thousand sixteen In the minute Thirteen resealed scored go. I got off the game He was how corner full on a day. Number twenty twenty. You don't bush. Just he double are perfect angle on They were able to score against saudi arabia. Which i it. It is not a team that should be a rival for brazil. I think so. I think they're good because obviously they are but.

"To focus on score. That goal islet of things can happen ago since can go through You appraise mind. Maybe like do they just like try to ignore a real one. Just focus on the bowl while you was number for from brazil The last the warren that it was against these goalkeeper on the keeper stoppable for going in Giving candidate the victory and for me. One of the most soup racing victories of this whole tournament. I don't i don't know really how they get the they became this good out of nowhere. Pretty much Because they have never. Canada has never have a soccer team. That i will say yes. They are really good like maybe brazil. The us friend even spain that it's been given qualified for these terminator. Believe so so it's definitely shocking for me. I'm i'm really happy. Return the underdog comes on you know wins against such a great great team like brazil It gets like alan. Oh it's just it's just great for me To see on underdog team Weenen against amazing team like brazil. Woman's man's brazil are really good and they've been for many years and i honestly thought the final was going to be the united states versus brazil or are trulia versus brazil but now brazil is of the competition and Paying oh excuse me. Canada has to play the united states and then and blaze australia. Which i am so excited. Now we're going to talk about sudan. Suzanne in the scoring the first six minutes of the game Number six for students core I think scoring so early indicate game. It's like a message to the other team. Like i'm here. I'm not going to lose on. You know i'm not going to give you a break. I am going to do everything again to score And they did. I think he was a great goal. They score line numbers kickable with her head and the gold when in clean clean clean goal. Amazing really really really great. Play japan hop Score in the mid twenty two of the game. Let's remember japan. Eat splaine home is just when you lose. Home is always har- for japan are i. Guess not for sweden. In this case they didn't have any. There is no like parikh allow in this game. So they There's no one that can cheer for one team or another so. It definitely helps the other team because like we said this before in the tournament england was playing home on the final They loose or of the odd. Stay in a losing. Sweden scored the second goal of the game in the minute. Fifty two and it was a great play. I thought the goalkeeper was going to stop the because he was it was not. It was a great goal. But it wasn't something that i could not played. I think they had to like review the play because they felt the number eleven was in the rump. She seemed but was not I believe so as he was in the right position siege. Gora go go when between the The went to the golden japan's goalkeeper right side. It was a critical throughout the game. I would say. Sweden had more control of the ball hot You know. I guess like the precision of the ball. They cut it. They have like a big biggest became presented that japan. Which always means that you don't. They have to in one of japan's player. He the ball with her hand. It was definitely definitely an accident. Like i using now. She was just she john Her hand in the air on sadly for japan See he'd double we her hand on like penalty. Those are the rules of soccer even by accident easily johann any during the area. It's probably going to be a penalty in this sixty seven and sweden was able to score a penalty Giving three three to one anyways number nine the one that score I think i honestly think that moment. It's when the team kind of like break the team. It was more than you know. I'm three to one i date. I don't know they play after to. That was not as good as they were playing before that. I know it's har- on it's not the same loose by like three to one to one because to the one means i only you need one goal to tie the game on going into the semi-finals in this case but three to one. It's a tough tough tough score to beat on. It's not impossible. And we saw in the european tournament with like croatia score in like thirty minutes to goals tying the game going to overtime against spain on over there I think switzerland the to you. Know there's been mcrae. Secrecy moments in soccer were data gaming. The last second of the night in minutes but Suddenly for japan. That did not happen. they they did play really really really really good and i will definitely sit that because they did It was really sad that they were not able to excuse me Scorn bad It is what it is on. i'm. I'm i'm sad every time the home team loses because obviously it's nothing that Not no one wants to see that was in the The home team that is hosting the game on their brain relief Really really good During the whole jermaine but it was definitely student have finally definitely a tough tough tough tough rivals rival unday clearly were better. Like through the entire game they They had pushed the ball way often. That upn did on the way they want three to one The next game in the semifinals. I'm gonna talk about eats a grim great britain bursts out trulia. My my favorite. I think my favorite team. Mona islands in my favorite by the team. I believe it's gonna win goal. It's.

"Much even when the talent. Is there a hundred feet in the air. You prefer performance under pressure whether it's pressure from the other team in a game or teammates parents the coach or yourself mentally. Maybe you're a perfectionist. In every mistake weighs on you and you're terrified of making mistakes on the ground that performance when you're confident okay. That makes sense will make it soccer specific. Let's look at in terms of penalty. Kicks you go out and take. Pk's on your own on your own team practices now. Maybe team practices where it's at the end of a practice in your decide who's gonna take him in the game so it compete with your teammates. Now it's in a real game. Maybe you're up six. Nothing w taking a peek. Now maybe it's going to decide a game. Maybe it's gonna decided tournament. Think about how player feels when they're stepping up to take a pk in the world cup final and if they missed out right there's one hundred feet in the air. Maybe there's the thousand feet in the air okay and just but nothing has changed in terms of the physical performance. There's nothing about the penalty kick. there's nothing about walking on the beam that has changed but your mind has changed dramatically. This is why everyone professional soccer as the skilled in l. a. p. pk but only a handful can do it. Consistently during the most pressurized moments look. It can be complicated. It can be many exercises many things that we go through to help develop confidence and put you in the right frame of mind for things like that today. I wanna talk briefly about what i believe is number one. Everything follows from this and that's preparation the more prepared. You are the more confident you are with anything. You do this is why michael jordan. Everyone knows who michael jordan is. I'll use that and sokha's michael jordan as he's don could shoot a free throw a real. Nba game with his eyes closed. Preparation breeds confidence. Michael jordan took so many free throws. He can almost literally in his sleep. Next best thing is is close. The free throws the same right at same distant. Same everything no matter. What the situation whether. It's two minutes into a game that zero zero or it's no time left on the clock and you're shooting the to tie the game and win the game and this now going to preparation and another key. Part of that is what i like to say is. Don't do it until you get it right. do it. until you can't get it wrong..

"And we're closing in on the end of twenty twenty. I think a lot of people are thankful for that and hopefully heading into a completely different twenty twenty one and i wanted to take this opportunity to go over some things that you can do to kinda help you prepare as we move into a new year so that you can have the best opportunity to make it the best year ever in your soccer your soccer journey and so i wanted to take it through a few things on the initial part of this is something. I did. Send out to everyone who gets the email newsletter. Hopefully that's all of you. Because i definitely want to start connecting more in that way in twenty twenty one so i can be a little bit of an exercise. You're gonna have to take a few minutes. You gonna have to think a little bit. Okay I we're gonna talk about goals and our make this really easy. 'cause i just want you to list three goals for twenty twenty one and we're gonna make them smart goals okay. We'll talk about specific measurable attainable realistic and timely. I did another podcast on this. I will talk about it a little bit more detail coming up here in another minute and just three because i want you to focus. It doesn't mean you're not gonna have other things that you want to accomplish twenty twenty one but if you make a million different goals you kind of spread yourself out. You don't give any of them really the time and attention and effort that they that you need to in order to achieve them and then it kind of becomes overwhelming and nothing good happens so i'll give you a quick example for me in terms of the things that that i'm doing i wanna get back to doing a podcast week consistently. I was doing that last year when i started. This podcast in the fall did from october to march was boom every week. And then the the lockdown stuff happened in the cancel and the.

"If you can't move properly and look, you're an injury waiting to happen in that respect as well and as I've mentioned the private facebook group, which if you haven't joined go do so the soccer specialist look that up you should be able to find it on facebook right now I wanted to focus on two specific movements that can help with overuse injuries, but also improve athletic performance. These are two of my favorite movement pattern for athletes. What again injury prevention and overall athleticism More. In a second but look if you want to become stronger faster quicker, more explosive. Were powerful soccer player. You need to be training these movement patterns. They should be any athletes toolbox locate number. One is the hip hinge. The second movement is the squad. An athlete must be able to perform these movements. Not, only must they be able to perform? They had to train them and train them properly. Okay. There's a third one. I would add to these two. If you WANNA call big three call this bonus info for you would be the lunging we'll talk about that at at another time. But Okay. Let's get into the hip hinge bit. The hips are involved in everything you do. Okay it's. The one muscle that connects the upper lower body. If our hips are not right, we can't function properly we don't move properly wind up getting injuries and other body parts that are really because of issues with our hits are hips have an impact on pretty much everything else the bothered the bottom of the body does whether you want to sit stan sprint. Jump. Stop. Change. Direction twist band whatever your hips play key role in how you perform those activities how you move during those activities. And the hips again to help determine whether or not. You're an injury waiting to happen okay and protect the spine. The hips are a source of everything. An athlete does including your power your ability to move properly you WANNA be a great athlete you better not have week or tight, hips. I don't want to get too deep into all this, but the hip region is home to four muscle groups including the abductors and the AD doctors. Okay. That's the one. DC. Worked on exercise machine in the champ you know the one I'm talking about. Okay. These muscles responsible for.

"Includes proper nutrition recovery movement mechanics, strength training. At one thing I've noticed in my time coaching training athletes is they really don't know how to move properly. It's it's true. The proper mechanics aren't natural for everyone. and. Like everything else it could definitely be a learned skill. You can improve mechanics and help prevent injury that way at also improved performance. What I have been amazed at House, you athlete can perform certain movements. I look I haven't done a study, but my best guess is that kids don't play anymore the way they used to. Right. They're not out there playing games A. Tag Or Dodge Ball or monkey in the middle or jailbreak whatever other game you can mention. Instead. They're tapping on their phones, right? They're not climate trees riding bikes, they're tapping on their phones. So soccer players, even those athletes only get movement at soccer practice I. Remember one time a few years ago. Team we're we were going out over the summer to to train when they had a bit of a break. A younger team wanted actually do a little conditioning take the time in the summer a little bit of conditioning because I don't like to do that during practice will be on teams when I, it's important to get touches on the ball and the only have him twice a week. So we did do some soccer, but we also did a little condition with its body weight stuff to kind of expose them to it. And it was really amazing to me to see how you players perform something like a proper body weight squat or do a bear crawl or a lunch or even a, and these are the athletes of age I I can only imagine.

Think we'll be out on the pitch before you know it. In terms of that, we are obviously in a very unique in stressful time right now, there seems if there are many things while there are many things to worry about other than us soccer. The other side of that is a lot to be said for having distractions and having other things to focus on right now. As a stress reliever at the very least for your mental and physical health and wellbeing. And simply to hold the positive thought that everything's going to return to normal soon that there will be soccer again I think that's important not just for the parents but for the the players themselves for the kids, this is obviously a very. Difficult and challenging time for them. The world's been turned upside down and we want our young players sitting around worrying or maybe focused on the fun of their sport so that they become even better players when they when soccer starts up again then they are currently. I think. In of that..

"Yeah Oh like this apprentice episode with Paulie and Christopher. Yeah exactly but I remember. I went my wife's grandfather owned a blueberry farm in Pomona it which is way South Jersey. Oh yeah and all the pickup trucks pie. NEOM Brown thousand ninety. Don't say that that's offensive. I'm like I didn't know but uh ah I forgot how you a soccer star majority vic. Look I like the fact that we have a system but you know it seems like the treating the national team as a as a professional club And I'm not sure if that's always the right idea like you look at the rest of the world. The you know the national team either. Either you have a system like Spain has had or you come in the election. Hata we just wait. You Know Lake Francis Planning counterattacking soccer. You know you're not going to be able to get a German arriving Or German or Spanish system. I clearly what we're trying to do here. I don't know if it works. I just we make it to the World Cup because we need that balance although nobody nobody was linked guitar. Also that's a whole. I mean they got like slave labor going on in Qatar back in that John Oliver Special. From what like four years ago now when he talked about that that which is absolutely. I mean John Oliver's my favorite but like that special I still watch constantly when you were talking about the Brazil and how awful that whole was and everything like that but I mean it's kind ended bin Laden not everyone talking about how horrible Qataris people can't leave. They got these visas taken away. It's a really bad situation over there and I guess they're making these domes because it gets up to one hundred twenty degrees there during the summer. It's going to be during the winter. Now Right. They changed it. Yeah so it's GonNa be like the most impressed world cups is like the seventies Jesus well Christian I feel route. I didn't ask you. What's your thoughts on the currency the US soccer? I'm sorry the state of US soccer. I'm more concerned. Based on a couple of people that we interviewed like we had Sei Soccer. I was alarmed up on our show. Who covered the US national team trump? Plenty years and I kind of base. My you know. my concerns off of how these people who come in You know US aqua for a long time and people are a little nervous. I think they're more. I'm more worried about I. Think the at the senior level. I think we'll be fine. I think I think Berhalter can get US woke up. But when you realize that now there's a lot of vacant use Co The two positions. I if that next cycle that I think we're in. We're having a bit of an issue now for the four Foundation for the future so Twain Twenty Six. I don't know exactly who's going to be part of that. Why what is that? You could end up with a lost generation. Because of that you know you could enter bill. Yeah you know you have these issue you of like the the. US Soccer wants everyone to move to Chicago All used coaches at basically everyone they wanna have of that. That mean hub which you so you understand that but the country is so big and maybe it may not be beneficiary. You may not be able to get. Chicago can't play soccer Around yeah so you may exactly were. You won't be able to attract the best coaches For our youth national teams. So that that's where I'm at right now just like worried about what the future will look like because because it doesn't look like there's going to be consistency that we sort of that. We really need to keep making into every walk up. What do you think about the argument that more players should be abroad? Really we have tons in the Bundesliga and stuff like that like people were like. Oh well we gotta make MLS strong. It's like people pulling at two ends of Lake Straw are at a rope. You know what I mean. We were just in Germany everywhere Low and he's a big from opponent. He's like I did. I went to Hanover and just spent my entire career. We played one club and he said the Bundesliga has a huge opportunity. And if American kids have the opportunity to go that they definitely should so I don't think you I don't think any answers correct. I mean I had you. I think my answers correct I would I would say you WANNA litter American kids all all over the world crispy. Listrik is the first first American. I know of that when you tell someone their American for the first time you like what you know. They're shocked because as in how good he is. You know. Pass the Americans. We sort of had to make excuses for Landon Donovan. Oh he would be great if he played. You know what I mean but nobody's building. Mls I think think if the better the higher the level the kid is either they come back to molest other great where they stay out in Europe and continue to sort of propel forward the projection or the idea the perception I I should say of an American player and I think that's almost more important. You don't build sort of that. The value of the American players continue to build the quality and the more and more sort of American players are playing playing Champions League and stuff like that did get beat for the for the World Cup for the national team. Yeah I agree. That was the all right. All right all right like we do have a players that came from MLS academies that made it to the men's national team yet like Paxton Palmdale all right so actually that there are they are mls Kademi. That are putting out real talent that have interest from Europe. Of course if you had the opportunity to go ought to Europe or the for the individual player I think that's great but with your question about building mls. I don't know if that I find that to be a priority no right because because we're gonNA build the MLS by bringing in not only having great players in the academy and then playing on almost I teams but does laptops coming over here right the Wayne. Rooney's leased even though Quote Unquote retirement leaks. But not only are we getting those high quality players but we're getting like young South Americans out playing on these teams so that is also going going to help us build. MLS and it doesn't necessarily the American player. The young America doesn't necessarily have to be responsible for building the League or yeah well thank you. That was so well thought out. That was very great. Thank you guys so much. I mean one of us is smart now. My last question before we finish is what does it mean to be goalie. I WanNa know what what is the glorious like I need to know for the fans tell me am I am. I really like what's up because you asked the question. Thank you flip to me. I think has had a lot of definitions over the years but for us. It's someone who we defend American soccer. We we sort of defend what we think is riot You know we were. It's sort of like I don't know I wanNA use the term brave but it's you know be proud of who you are and say what needs to be said either. I hold that very the year two. We're both You know inner city Latino right be grew That's how we even that word being associated with that show. Joke was totally ironic. Because we're we're both Comedians Matt sliding anybody who weren't like we're not dogs but I think what the cool thing is that it's made people be more Not just be so defensive about American soccer almost be offensive and be like you. You know what this is. This is who we are this represent. We're trying to build this not only make the sport relevant amongst all the other sports right a lot of people who enjoy soccer in the. US are like they keep it to themselves. They have to be closeted soccer fans because they can't reveal it to their coworkers or their friends and stuff like that. And we've made made it a little bit more like you know what there's nothing to be ashamed of. And if I the Europeans make fun of us for long soccer whatever week clapback we we yell at that. We no longer going to be like. Oh you're right guys we're here now. Listen to your mate. We're going to go have ourselves donnybrook. I don't know what they do over there. You were talking a little inside the episode a little about that before before but if you want to tell people exactly what you're doing down to Florida that'd be really cool Garissa the ICU. Just the International Champions Cup most people know as like throughout the summers ars when like the Big European teams common play Here in the US. It's like a competitive series of friendlies. Very much yeah but so we're at the IDC futures which is the same concept. But this is for the youth teams the academy team. So this is these are like the fifteen boys and fourteen gene girls And they play against each other in environment. That is All all expense paid trip off for the kids they get treated needed like superstars. They get a a ton of swag. It's like a really cool thing that that was the biggest surprise seeing how happy these are to be here and be treated like professional athletes as you know and we're here to while we were MC me events our doing a bunch of stuff with with the kids like shooting videos and now we're also looking to start getting into third party ownership the job lucidly ship Youtube. We're hooligans agency. Oh my God why be missing. I didn't mention that you guys have are hilarious on social media. You make sure to follow them at the cool again is that you're at on twitter At soccer hooligans soccer hooligans on twitter and instagram guys are also on I tunes spotify everywhere. I mean if you're a soccer fan listen. This is the collaboration. No one knew they ever wanted so on Jerry. Happy to be a part of it so before I get into soccer stuff I do. Have I have some beef with you guys. You talk a lot of crap about Wiwa on twitter and as a South Jersey you know Philadelphia resident for some time before I moved up here to the Greater New England area. What's up guys like? What what can we do to help? I see a lot of this like Taylor. Ham Talk and whatnot. What's what's up with this Wa wa hate? We all know it's daily hand while was trash unless it's to come rules man. Are you a hoagie hero. Zero what you guys call it. I'm cool with sub. I'm cool with Hoagy but hero is the official term. Guys are obviously big pizza guys. I don't really have you. You know any good pizza here in New England you have spy and you're in Brooklyn Right. That's where like the mainstay of the show is. Yeah Yeah Yeah Okay do you have. What your favorite joint I would say industry Williamsburg you're in Williamsburg? Brooklyn is absolutely incredible Europe by Boston. You've got Santa Appeals over by the airport you got AIDS REGGIA which is in the north side. That's it's really famous superbeets in unfortunately guys also like to eat Greek pizza which is it's the Wa wa of pizzas Come on man like you guys probably like sheets come come on. I can't do this is it. Is it just because it has the stereotype being gassed Asian food. I don't get it man staple is really confusing for us as Dino's because y was kind of what we call plus the plus. Is You go. There is a nation sandwiches winter. The bus game. All right well I find I'm GONNA move on because like I can't. I'm not going to dwell on this because it's going to hurt my heart but I wanNA talk some soccer. Obviously you guys are big. MLS guys you're at the final this year right. Yeah I was. That was that whole experience. It was incredible Seattle Man. I'll that whole is. It felt the entire diner city. was there for the game was really cool. The earthquakes when they scored goals as you physically feel the world shake underneath the real thing it was ever offer Chris Simon Century Lincoln Yeah I think it was. They were more people there than like you know when they attend seahawks games. It was pretty intense and you can clearly see how important commanders are To that city so yeah I mean we that was already our forth. MLS Cup and they've been on the second that they've won that we'd been tagged but it's it's like you know who the Good Luck charm. My obviously so yeah. What do you all been your favorite wondered? You feel as though. Is there a favorite of the ones you've been to. I'd like I would say this is if not number one number one A. It's really hard between this and last year's Atlanta Anna was that tailgate was unbelievable. It felt like a coming out party for soccer in America. Erica Linda Yeah Seattle. It felt like we were in a weird world where soccer has always mattered. You know in America so it's hard to compare the two but I would say the two of those will they still like sort of I get butterflies thinking about both of those cups. My next question's going to be like on our show we talk mostly premier league and world world soccer's We always jokes were big. MLS guys but we're not really nice more of just being sarcastic convince me what is your pitch. MLS has grown immensely. I been trying to watch more games. What is your pitch to say like a lot of our fans are trying to get more into like? Mls what is your head just like. Why should we care more about this compared to like the European top five weeks before local local at the that that would be the first kind of message I mean we talk about We sort of made that conscious choice to or from relief. But I'm saying he's he's innocent clamp. Hey I'm a governor myself one baby so So we we made the conscious choice like you know a lot of people kind of with down American Eric in soccer they put down. MLS If the butt of a joke right where we stand up comedians right so we constantly even amongst peers did not sounds that. Make Fun of the sport but then he just talk about American soccer. You like there's going to be even worse like you're GonNa get but the more we were around a around players around You know the teams and just people who work for the League Lou. People are really trying to make sport relevant in this country and really the Mesler do it is like you know to get people to go see games and the early easy complaint is of equality or whatever but what outside of the top ten teams onto in the permanently. Garbage seems absolutely watson run. I don't want to hear a God damn thing. I'm a big Fan. I don't really know what they're you know. Mascot is still. It's still very confusing. But that's very that's very fair and I liked that you know and you guys like the playoff system system. Compared to the point system at the end of the season the title. I've I've kind of grown to fall in love with the idea of the playoffs because it's undeniably fun whether you think I think it's fair or not or it should just be a single single table whether you like that or not. Doesn't matter revolt it is fun. It is certainly fun and it's just something so late about how insane American soccer is is Tam. There's game and I when I say piggyback on what Christie said is you don't have to pick one you can still like Chelsea Elsie and also like rebel New Yorker or and they did it or whatever you can also like American soccer. You don't have to be one yes you could stop saying make you know what I mean. Oh my God I love that. I'm a Philadelphia Union fan by default. I was actually born in Chester. Pennsylvania at Cooper Cooper Hospital. It's a big Jimmy. Kurt van as Ginger. Love Me Jimmy Curtains so he's actually We got passes one day. I don't know how we pulled that off. You're actually in the press box. One sometime got to go meet Jimmy Afterwards Bedoya and everyone in the locker room and all the time. I'm just smilingly. This isn't happening the whole time so I I would actually like to ask as of union fan was a kind of a disappointing. It's such a great regular season. How they fell out in the play offs the the Philly fans for the show? I mean look at eight that night game against The rebels was unbelievable right so after they go up against Atlanta you know. They definitely flavor playing at mercedes-benz tough overall but the Philadelphia Union. More like like the the they had good results luscious detail and toews yet. But I'm just so impressed. Compared to last year where like nobody was going to games aims of it was just a really difficult to like. Just connect with the community and you realize like the sons of Ben all the effort that was pulled from from the club to just get more people excited about the team we went to even Fang all the stuff fan. You saw what we were there for the CFC's Philly Games We were doing press stuff too uh-huh and we were on the field looking around the police which jammed the Velika parring gap. You'll go philly. Yeah like yeah sold out stadium Gesture is feels feels like just it feels good is small at about twenty thousand. But that ain't a raucous twenty thousand It's it's The identity is very much via its the same constant belittling anybody man. It's just a brand. We have a brand had it not like people think soccer fans off whatever not build up the unit out now. I loved it very much. The Seniors Villi people. Yeah they Serbia different culture. It's a problem it's so funny because like Philly fans get this hard core like mentality but we feel things I remember when my grandfather we won won the super bowl with the eagles. I'm getting off track. This guy who served in Vietnam. He's never I love you know. Hugs or anything I remember. He called me when we won the Super Bowl. I I never thought I would make it to this point. It was like crying on the phone so we do not like the most like egg people but we do have kind of like hardcore your brand but that's really cool so are you guys Newark FC fans or Red Bull fans local. Or would you say I'll win. NYC AFC started is kind of what we started the podcast. I'm originally originally thought was the kind of focus on but So we are both NYC season ticket holders But we've kind of just we talked about the whole leagues over fans amend my CFC. For sure you're in. I think that lends a little bit of credibility too because American soccer fans for so long like well. Are you really committed to being an American furniture you paint. Are you a part of the League or you know.
