Why Esports Coaches Don't Fill the Same Role as Traditional Sports Coaches

"This is actually focused on coaching I. Think this is an interesting parallel of the were talking about. There's an aspect of the MLS LCS COMP that relates to coach and it specifically how coaches approach roles for players and a trend I think started about twenty five years ago where there's this whole thing for young athletes hey, they need to specialize early and they need to find. Not. Just the sport they WANNA play, but the position within that's what they wanna play so that they could focus on it completely. and. It's something that creates a potential issue in terms of teamwork and. Understanding of. Either the field or the virtual or the rift depending on what what you're playing. And that's something that is sort of changing in the sports world a little bit over the last ten years who actually? No, it benefits our goalies to understand what it's like to be an attacking player. They can have that experience. That's good. You flush aw bat specific cop and why that relates to coaching and how it impacts the ability of coaches to really be successful. Of course. Yeah. Yeah. to miss it. Did you ever play a traditional sports? I did I was a soccer player in high school. I'll split tennis basketball really all around until I got injured and play sports because I need competition. I think we're we're pretty similar So. When when when I first started playing like as you mentioned like there was this focus on his Asian and the parallel to. Something like Lee. Legends is abundantly clear especially in North America. players will before they're even like in in ranked 'cause you have those thirty levels to get to. To get to before you start playing rank games. They're gonNA choose favorite position and like that's just Kinda engrained. And that's Kinda rough. But I think that needs to be that needs to be tackled that needs to be gotten rid of because when you're only. Focusing on one position and we have a lot of that and it's hyperfocused in North America. We have things like one called one tricks where you only play one champion. So it's it's hyper focusing on hyper focusing even more than is already have like should be happening. So we have these these one tricks and these one position players. And they're they're going all in and the as you said, they know nothing about the other player. So where coaching comes in is like there should be a focus on foundational knowledge and just general knowledge that will contribute to the overall play when when you're playing midland when you're playing midland in League of legends and Everybody knows most people know and Lee legends that the Mid Jungle Synergy is incredibly important has amid later if you know where your juggler is going to be and where the opponent judy is going to be, you can plan accordingly But if you all you know is about your your mid lane like position like say trade against your enemy mid Lehner and like a manage the waves effectively while that's important. Knowing about the other aspects of the game is it is expansive like you'll have a massive over the other teams and it. It's crazy to me that this the like just knowledge this is just knowledge. It's just being neglected we and I feel like it's just so much more potent in in North America still while still needs growth in other regions like a do follow g to at all. Of course alibi European friends Yeah Yeah G. to. Last year did something unprecedented. They sent a perks down to the bottling and they brought in caps who was a world class midlander, and so perks demonstrated something that no other team had really done before and that a role swap can happen and it will benefit the team like he went from. Midland to bottling lane in they played even better than they did before if anybody in North America attempted the same thing, I don't think we would find. Any semblance of the success that G. to did and I it's. I I think we should start working towards that coaching and House how this relates into coaching is. Is just the the emphasis on on knowledge. Our emphasis is always just as I said earlier, just the position that. You're already play and there are so many holes. There's so many things because people are just rushing to. Can like immediately I feel like I've gone a little rambler here real. They're made for rambling that's the whole point of the medium. It's I think you bring up a really good point is that position Louis play is the hardest thing to do at any most consistent marker of the greatest players and the greatest teams. If you watch a premier league soccer, for example, I was watching Liverpool. Play this past weekend at the way they move even compared to the MLS is completely within motion they're all. Moving with each other if that means that the midfielder needs to go back to Centreback, he does that without debate he's thinking about, Hey, this position I need to be he understands how the team needs to move around the ball and that's something that like you mentioned with g two, it's possible to do if you understand all those positions. But when you're one trick, this is true of MLS is somebody will miss their assignment and the whole defense fall apart because it's all predicated on everyone playing that one specific role, and it does not nearly have the same. Level of. Cohesion of of nuance that that the best teams in other countries are playing for an to America's credit. That's true of other sports say basketball when you watch a team in North America play or in the NBA play basketball, we're moving very position Louis. Format where it's Oh. It's people playing around each other The big men are no longer just staying underneath the basket there out by the three point line. And in other places that's not true because America's got the best basketball player at the best basketball league and it's sort of a martyr of. You have the best players and the Games take on added level of synergy. That's only really seen at the absolute top level, and that again comes down to coaching and a lot of ways coaching from early days, and then also coaching that continues into the pro play and having players who are receptive to have coaches actually talk with them and I think that's what are the big things we need to talk about his eastwards coach is. Especially in North America Arthur coaches respected some are but quite a few. Probably. Just got thrown into their role.

"Maybe we'll start with. Way Your interest in Mahamoud. Way Did that how did that come about? When was that? So since by had? I probably I got interested in Mahamoud per se early in Grad school or perhaps a little bit before that might regional interest in Buddhism back in high school days early in college was mostly in San and I always expected that would be the form of Buddhism than I ended up practicing but the as says avid my then girlfriend now wife and I ended up traveling overland India in one, thousand, nine, hundred, seventy, three into nineteen, seventy four, and then ended up at coupon monastery just outside. Katmandu where we studied where Rama Tipton yesterday in London Lumberton. And those famous co concourses which are still ongoing by merrily introductions allom Rim to the stages of the path of course. Llamas, OBA has a particular particularly in those days maybe a little. So I don't know He had a particular teaching style wary if you're at a month course, you could pretty much be sure that half the time was going to be spent in the lower rounds. So he did delight in. Those and Mama yesterday would, of course come in and remind us that we all had put a nature. So it was kind of A. Tough. Cop Nice cop routine and away. And you know he was he was a it was kind of overwhelming for me despite my interest. But as despite my having majored in religion in college and so forth. But. All the complication you know both the details of rim, how Karma works all the different realms, the scholastic arguments back and forth about beginning less mind an emptiness and so forth all of it was incredibly impressive. They were particularly impressive as practitioners as people who lived out what they had studied on what they were teaching but I I also began in in the few the few hours that were that I had hadn't disposal to to read. I think it was probably some poems by Miller wrap up where Branson book by John Blow Fouls, which just had a little bit of discussion. Mahmoud. and. The way the way I took it brightly. At times this reminds me a lot of ZAP it a bid, it short circuits all the detail, all the ritual, all the scholasticism. All those kinds of things that just tells you to realize the nature of your mind. So it appealed to me. Even that? Sort of a a hidden card. Yuba. Lurking inside this is fledgling gay look back. And I kept that in mind when. Year or so you're a half later I ended up graduate school at the University of Wisconsin, studying under shapes up SOPA. who was the first as far as I know the first Betton tenure at American University, certainly the first Tibetan guess. Who was tenured at American University and again to to study with guesses OPA both in the context of the graduate program that Wisconsin and at the deer park would a center as it's now called. So the number of the papers I wrote at Grad School, you know we're on the Mosit- as of India or or soccer punditocracy critiques of Mahamoud, draw various topics like that. So I, you know even in Grad school I I had this interest You know it sometimes said about Chinese practitioners. They're confusions during the day and Taoists. At Night I. Think a part of me that's was during the day and At night. Of course went when I began to discover that was that there was a whole Gaelic tradition of Mambo. I'd been vaguely aware of because it was a little translation that had come out at the library of Tibetan works in archives and. I read through that and So you know after I got Grad school sort of begun by my teaching career. I. Along with rank, of course, bring my dissertation into book form of pretty much everybody wants to do at some point are almost everybody wants to. Buy began to again sort of on the side begin to begin to investigate Gaylord Mabul dress, and so that's at least in terms of the genesis of this I. Guess That's That's how I would I would explain it. In a this dungeon have any. Teachers. Teaching. Mahmoud to you know you know during we went and saw on trump shays league. Once in Chicago he was notoriously late. He was typically drinking soccer when he was typically brilliant. So you know everything we had heard was true. And I think later in the seventies and into the eighties I began to to go occasionally to cognitive teacher but no, I did not have a regular. Teacher and I. I guess it's fair to say that I really never had a sort of regular teacher although in more recent years I've studied some weakening. European. Fortunately for us has his world had ordered in Minneapolis just. Just a few miles from where we live. So now, my my interest I mean I was interested in cognitive because if you're interested in mom will address even from the Gaylord stand going you clearly have to begin researching. Kogyo because. Well, let's talk about stuff. So you know we've just you know full disclosure you and I did an interview before over on the sky loon behind the scene podcast that I also host but I wanted to invite you onto this show is well because I want to. kind of slightly different direction and. Introduce you to this week and photo audience as well as the behind the scene audience if you subscribe to behind the scene search for it and go subscribe to that one too. So Yeah. Good stuff. Who is Dixie Dixon? Ukraine. So I've seen your name in fact. I. was just doing a livestream with a friend of mine who's also a Nikon shooter and I said I gotta go I. GotTa Hang Up because I'm getting ready to talk to Dixie Dixon and he's like I was like, have you heard of Dixie Dixon? He's like Have I heard of Dixie Dixon. It's like, have you heard of Prince? So. Tell us how did you get from where you were to being kind of a household name in the in the photography world? I appreciate that so much. Gosh it's been a really crazy adventure. I've had photography jobs. So I started out shooting the cheesy little league pictures shot with film actually was the Nikon F G camera, and so we'd be doing all those cheesy soccer ball like posing with a soccer balls and Just, the team photos and stuff like that, and then I ended up joining the yearbook staff and my image ended up making the cover of the yearbook. So for me, it was like a way to get out of my shell a little bit. I'm very much a sort of an introvert. So it was sort of felt rebellious and helped me get to know people and communicate and have fun and so that for me was like a moment. Wow maybe I could actually do this for a living. So I ended up going off to college I would have loved to majored in photography, but I really thought. Maybe I should figure out the business so I can actually figure out how to make a living doing this. So I ended up studying. Entrepreneurship at TCU and fell in love with the business side and then I ended up studying abroad with a world renowned fashion photographer I literally googled fashion photography study. Abroad. And there was one program through Syracuse University. So I got to go and study with Jeff Licata and listen over in London and Prague and do my first big fashion shoot, and that is when I really fell in love with the fashion photography side of things. So yeah, it's fun adventure I felt like it was yesterday but it's It's crazy how fast time flies and I got a job sheeting TV show and it just all came together. I have so many questions like I'm I'm curious how it works from. A lot of a lot of the twitter audience. Sure as the same question like the. One one path to success as a photographer seems to be fashion right? You got to be a fashion slash commercial photographer. You gotta be that person walking on said and you're in charge and you know the House music stumping in the background and models are doing their thing. There's a wind machine. Blowing. And somebody's up there like stevie nicks with the white thing. So how do you? How do you get there like what's what's the path from leaving school in entrepreneurship going through the internship and seeing how it's done from behind the scenes to building a brand like your brand and being sponsored and representing brands like Nikon? Yes. So it's been I always feel like as an entrepreneur you think you're just GonNa, go a nice gradual progression upward, but it's like. It's an interesting. It's an interesting journey if you will. There's ups and downs along the way. I. Mean my first few years I was shooting everything I was shooting weddings and portrait's and product. If anyone called me to do a shoot I knew how to do it. I said Yes to almost everything yeah. Just to just to pay the bills and whatnot so I ended up up to different websites My fashion website and then my commercial website I mean my wedding website and portrait website. So basically, when people would reach out and they wanted portraits, weddings, I was sent him to that website, and then all the fashioned stuff on my fashioned website was all three work that I had shocked my portfolio. So ultimately, you have to show the type of work that you WANNA be shooting. So I was wanting to shoot the fashion work so you have. To, go out and shoot that work, and then you're gonNA, eventually start attracting those type of clients. So then I started shooting for modeling agencies, they would do like paid portfolio shoots for their models. It started out as free portfolio shoots and then they ended up paying me to shoot their models for awhile and do that quite a lot and then that led to like two boutiques and showing them my work and ask him if I could collaborate.

Trump denies downplaying virus, casts doubt on mask usage

"President trump has faced compelling questions from undecided voters in what essentially amounted to a warm up for his debates with Joe Biden in a town hall anchored by ABC news George Stephanopoulos the president got questions on what he told The Washington Post Bob Woodward in the spring why would you downplay a pandemic that is known to disproportionately harm low income families and minority communities yeah well I didn't down play I actually in many ways I up plated in terms of action but he did downplay the threat to Woodward I wanted to always play it down yesterday he also downplayed the value of masks there are a lot of people think the masks are not good the president also seem to knock down the suggestion that the U. S. as racial inequities amid months of protests over police shootings of black people you have yet to address in it now is it is been a race problem in America so if you go well I hope this is not a race problem soccer make ani Washington

Serena Williams upset by Victoria Azarenka at US Open

"So. Niamey's soccer took place in the final and that point. ENACT COVERAGE ON BBC radio we switched from our digital station sports, extra five, which is the network station and. We went big on Serena. Williams against Victoria as a Aranka. Which I have to say I started to think well, it can't possibly live up to what we've just seen in you just Kant. And the first point of the match. Serena. Williams on leashes a four hundred. The almost didn't. It couldn't be tracked by the the camera because it went so fast and it just went out but it felt like such a statement immediately, the I am going to just destroy every tennis bullet comes near me. And I felt like that my of slight rattled as a Aranka just the the shift force integration that was that was hit with. An immediately to breaks of serve to. Serena. Four games to love she led. Won The set six one. and. I don't know about you. But my name was it feels like we've just got an a time machine and back ten twelve years to when Williams was in twenty. It's the way she was running the movement. She was all she was moving right now soccer she's nearly thirty nine and she's hitting the living daylights out of the ball an and it really wobbled as Anka who started just Tara what did you think? Katherine Oh. Yeah it was blistering utterly blistering and I think it was a a mock of the respect that Serena Williams has. Victoria as rancor because her starts Serena have been Radi. Ready. Sluggish. And she's played some really good plays and she says improper tests but I think she needs she simply could not get away with that today. I think a mindset shifted completely. Am I don't know how I don't I genuinely don't know how you can just sort of decide i. I can't get away with doing that today. So I won't. Thing why you why couldn't you trick yourself over into thinking that every day but overseas? Just doesn't psychology doesn't work like that but. She. Yeah. She couldn't afford to give Victoria as. That lead and take her time to work her way into the match as she has been doing. and so she went to completely the other end of the spectrum and made. Pretty much as blistering start tennis match as I have seen as I've seen Serena making in recent memory, it was. It made my eyes Bogle out of my head. At moments. Really did it was like she? Convinced herself that Seraing was Sharapova. I mean how many times we've seen Serena come out with that intensity and that that or against Charipova and just make mincemeat of her certainly within the first set, and that's what she did to as their income in the first set she was. Unbelievably good as you said, crunching the ball moving fantastically and not allowing as incur any chance to set or what. So ever because she was serving well. So kind of dominating the points on her serve and then she was returning as in cassette could serve so strongly and. This was the Serena that I've kept expecting to see this tournament but i. I was beginning to doubt whether she had that level of tennis in her to be honest because I thought I thought we might see Sloan. Stevens I, thought we might see it against Zachary thought we might see against Perron Covi-, kept expecting. To raise her level in this tournament and. She was saving it for today it seemed and as you said I, don't know how you can turn that tap on and off and have control. Today I just. Will be extra. Mom is lengthy. It was like the very revealing candid. Enlightening. pre-match interview with Victoria as Aranka. where she was asked about her poor record against Serena in grand, slams, what do you need to do to get the win tonight? Play better. or or I? will she treated about for match interview with the contempt? It deserves it was. It was great.

Trump Defends 'Playing Down' COVID-19 After New Book Reveals President Called Virus 'Deadly Stuff' in February

"President Trump is defending his interview with journalist Bob Woodward about the pandemic and why he downplayed it. Today. He criticized Woodward saying he had his quotes for many months, and if he thought they were so bad or dangerous, why didn't he immediately report them in an effort to save lives? Woodward says he wanted to confirm the president's sources, and by the time he did that pandemic was rampaging in a private talk with journalists, Bob Woodward in February, the president acknowledged the virus was deadly stuff, and a month later admitted he was purposely minimizing the threat in public. I still like playing it down. Yes, because I don't want to create a panic. The Washington Post released parts of the conversations along with excerpts of Woodward's new book. Yesterday. The president did not deny any of it. The last thing we can show is panic. A Democratic challenger Joe Biden, says the president lied to the nation and downplaying the threat and people died. Woodward writes that in February, the president called the virus deadly but minimize the danger in public. Quoting him as saying in March. I always wanted to play it down. The president acknowledges that, saying he was trying to create confidence, not a frenzy. We don't wanna have to show panic. In terms of that, we are obviously in a very unique in stressful time right now, there seems if there are many things while there are many things to worry about other than us soccer. The other side of that is a lot to be said for having distractions and having other things to focus on right now. As a stress reliever at the very least for your mental and physical health and wellbeing. And simply to hold the positive thought that everything's going to return to normal soon that there will be soccer again I think that's important not just for the parents but for the the players themselves for the kids, this is obviously a very. Difficult and challenging time for them. The world's been turned upside down and we want our young players sitting around worrying or maybe focused on the fun of their sport so that they become even better players when they when soccer starts up again then they are currently. "All right final. Twenty minutes of the show ten to twenty. I'm going to go through Eastern Conference Western Conference in Major League. Soccer less will look at the schedule for week one here and MLS will start to not become the center this show but a very large part of this show Especially because it's going to be a lot of the soccer that's on in the summer Embittered talk about that in some of the the transfer stops and we got listeners. All across this country and it's very important that we try to hammer home that this league major league soccer because popular Because I think it's a great league. I think it's a league that we all can get excited about in the United States. There's teams that you can cheer for within your own backyard. It's growing I think it's a beautiful product and we'll we'll talk about that all summer long. Okay Predictions Eastern Conference Western Conference. We'll start with the east will go from bottom to top now. There's a lot of teams gamble. I'm GonNa try to talk about each team for about thirty seconds to a minute will try to run through this whole thing We will start with. The Eastern conference will go bottom up. We'll go bottom up before we do that though. I'm GonNa talk about the twenty nineteen standings so there were twenty four teams in the mls in two thousand nineteen. There's twenty six now in Nashville and Miami jumping into the league. Let's talk about the twenty nine thousand nine standings case. Seattle won the MLS Cup in the playoffs in the first year. The new playoff format that is seven teams from each conference. Make the playoffs. So last year was seven out of twelve this year. Seven hundred thirteen. And then it'll be seven out of fourteen and then seven out of fifteen and that's really smart seven's a great number. I hope they stay there for a long time. It's single limitation. You get home games if you're the higher seed home games all the way through even to the championship. I really love that model for major league soccer because it really makes it an event each game is super important and just because you're the best team all year ask L. AFC was last year. They were the record. Point scorers in major league soccer history. They couldn't get it done but Seattle wins over Toronto at the end of it. All but here the standings last year NYC AFC this in order top to bottom eastern conference NYC AFC Atlanta United Philadelphia Union came in Third Toronto. Fc DC United New York Red Bulls and New England. Revolution snuck into the back into the playoffs. Chicago Fire Finished Eighth Montreal Columbus Orlando City and then FC Cincinnati with a League. Worst point total in league history at the bottom of the eastern conference in the West in two thousand nineteen L. Afc finished first with seventy two points. A whopping seventy two points. Seattle sounders in Sackett Real Salt Lake in third Minnesota United in Fourth L. A. Galaxy and Fifth Portland and six Dallas in Seventh San Jose in Eighth Colorado in ninth Houston Dynamo Intent Sporting Kansas City in eleventh and the Vancouver whitecaps in Twelfth Place. Okay that's the history. That's the setup for two thousand nineteen in case you didn't know it. Let's diamond the Eastern Conference who I think is going to be the thirteenth ranked team this year. The Montreal impact not a lot of talent kerryon brought in hasn't had success as a manager. He makes sense for Montreal. Can he keep his calm? Can he keep his composure? With no talent hopefully so and I think that they could maybe build something in the future but they relied a lot on Nacho potty. He's out the door Montreal to me worst team in the east this year. This is a little surprise of a pick but twelve New York Red Bulls listen in the MLS right now. You can't standstill. You can't stay pat. Everybody spent money. Everybody got better. It feels like at least two thirds of the League. Did New York Red Bulls did not the relying on Kaku? I've heard it's a transition year for the New York Red Bulls Eye. They'll be one of the worst teams in the east in a really competitive. Mls listen things like this are going to happen. Where team like the rebels that has been consistently near the top loses a lot of talent and they just hemorrhage losses after losses to teams like the team. I have finishing above them who've gotten better. Fc Cincinnati I would put them higher on this list. Had they not just fired their head coach for using the n word in the locker room which was a big no no farrand yawns. He's out the door for FC Cincinnati. They're back to your demet. Who is the interim head coach after they fired to me prematurely Alan Koch a year ago? Fc Cincinnati was complete mess. They couldn't score any goals and because they couldn't possessor score any goals. They got a lot back down their throat and gave up a lot of goals. The midfield gone better. The frontline attack could be one of the better ones in the league with you. Yeah Cobo you're GonNa Khadijeh Ragavan on the right side. Then you have men in Yemen distributing from Senator Defensive Mid I think FC Cincinnati competitive but no coach right now other than you on Demet. I don't really have confidence in him and I don't think there's anybody they can find. So it'll be a little chaotic in Cincinnati. They finishing eleventh tenth. I Have Orlando City. They're relying on former man. United SCAR. Noni just feels like Orlando City. Did Not do enough to push forward. They've Oscar Pereira as their head coach. We'll see what he can do but I just don't see it from Orlando City. I have them finishing in Tenth. Lot of upside though in the ninth ranked team in my standings. The Chicago fire wiser upside. Because they're going to spend money and they're going to really try to make the playoffs in really try to be relevant at soldier field this year and trying to capture the attention of Chicago while they have their attention by moving to soldier field if they can be good if they can be exciting if they can bring in big names. I know they lose Boston's Feinstein and DAX McCarty. If feels like they got worst. But they're gonNA buy players they added some DP's. I think Chicago fire could be pretty competitive but I sit them at ninth with a lot of potential to move higher up. Philadelphia Union was a real surprise last year finishing third in the east. I have the finishing eighth just outside the playoffs this year the relying on a lot of young players and being a well coached team and everything going right. It felt like everything went right for them last year. When you're lying on young players everything went right for a year ago. I think the Conference Got Better Philadelphia Union. One of those teams. That could certainly make the playoffs but to me they'll finish on just just the outside of it finishing eighth in the eastern conference. Dc united the reason. I put them at seventh above Philadelphia. I think these teams are really close. Bill a meet in goal. The United States' international keeper potentially For this next cycle bill. Meade when you have him and a solid team and long-term manager that's GonNa lot done for DC united to me. Even though they lost Wayne Rooney they are going to be competitive. And they'll be the seventh best team making the playoffs just barely in the Eastern Conference Toronto. Fc I put them at six. Because I think the deal with injuries they already are Michael Bradley. Already injured. Josie Al Zawra never really plays a full season. I think there's a they're a team that's going to hang around. Get some wins deal with injuries? Go through rough stretches and still be threat in the playoffs as they have been. They won this eastern conference a year AGO WITH A beautiful playoff run in fifth to me the Columbus crew. Lotta great offseason buys. They added a league. Max Number Ten in Zella Ron and he is excellent and Columbus crew has just added a lot of great pieces. They added a left. Back Centre. Attacking mid Kayla porter is a manager. I like he won in. Mls COP with Portland and they got better as the season went along last year. I think they'll be one of the surprises. I don't have them as high as some people do. I haven't met fifth. They have a high ceiling. No they could definitely win the Eastern Conference New England revolution to me. Finish it fourth. Bruce Arena makes the playoffs that amid season boost when he came in. I didn't like what Bruce Arena did with the United States. Men's national team how he didn't take blame for what happened there. But he is twelve for twelve in full seasons at making the playoffs in major league soccer and I think doing has lot of talent and I think they'll finish at fourth plus every simulation Iran of this upcoming MLS season while playing some career modes and fearful. For some reason. New England ends up winning it. I'm not going to ignore that. Type of advice from fever. Have them at fourth? Nyc AFC finishes a third in this Eastern conference to me no frontline stars by Maxi Morales is excellent Carlos. Villa there is an Joseph or pitchy Martinez. So there isn't that frontline star push them over the top but I think third is a decent finish. Plus they're having some weird things going on with Yankee Stadium early in the year and we saw how that affected Portland last year. Early in the season was some problems with their home grounds. I think that'll have NYC AFC lose some ground. We'll see if that new manager can push them over the top in the playoffs. Second for me in the Eastern conference is the surprise team. It's the expansion side Inter Miami. They are throwing money at this and they've got a lot of great players. It's one of the deep harassers in the league offer. Some for some frontline. Talent will traps on this team. They're experienced in the right spots for Emma last. They're highly talented in the right spots for. Mls and they will buy again. They are going to get a world class star this summer. I think they'll have a back end of the season boost from it and I just think that they will be very successful expansion team again. If feels like inner Miami is that expansion team like Atlanta united was while Nashville in the West feels like an SEC. Cincinnati or a Minnesota United type expansion team where they're carrying over guys from from some US L. They'll have exciting home atmospheres but they won't be a frontline team. I really like Inter Miami plus this league so unpredictable that I couldn't go chalk so I figured I needed to put a surprise team in there. And why not David Beckham's Inner Miami finishing at second to me the best team in the Eastern Conference this year? I didn't mess around with this. It's Atlanta United. Seventy thousand people going to those games best goalscorer in the League Joseph Martinez pitchy Martinez doing excellent as well distributing to him. They have the most town in the east and to me. I think they will be the best team in the East Western conference coming up on the other side of the break. I just talked really fast. And he'd take a quick water but western.

"Yeah Oh like this apprentice episode with Paulie and Christopher. Yeah exactly but I remember. I went my wife's grandfather owned a blueberry farm in Pomona it which is way South Jersey. Oh yeah and all the pickup trucks pie. NEOM Brown thousand ninety. Don't say that that's offensive. I'm like I didn't know but uh ah I forgot how you a soccer star majority vic. Look I like the fact that we have a system but you know it seems like the treating the national team as a as a professional club And I'm not sure if that's always the right idea like you look at the rest of the world. The you know the national team either. Either you have a system like Spain has had or you come in the election. Hata we just wait. You Know Lake Francis Planning counterattacking soccer. You know you're not going to be able to get a German arriving Or German or Spanish system. I clearly what we're trying to do here. I don't know if it works. I just we make it to the World Cup because we need that balance although nobody nobody was linked guitar. Also that's a whole. I mean they got like slave labor going on in Qatar back in that John Oliver Special. From what like four years ago now when he talked about that that which is absolutely. I mean John Oliver's my favorite but like that special I still watch constantly when you were talking about the Brazil and how awful that whole was and everything like that but I mean it's kind ended bin Laden not everyone talking about how horrible Qataris people can't leave. They got these visas taken away. It's a really bad situation over there and I guess they're making these domes because it gets up to one hundred twenty degrees there during the summer. It's going to be during the winter. Now Right. They changed it. Yeah so it's GonNa be like the most impressed world cups is like the seventies Jesus well Christian I feel route. I didn't ask you. What's your thoughts on the currency the US soccer? I'm sorry the state of US soccer. I'm more concerned. Based on a couple of people that we interviewed like we had Sei Soccer. I was alarmed up on our show. Who covered the US national team trump? Plenty years and I kind of base. My you know. my concerns off of how these people who come in You know US aqua for a long time and people are a little nervous. I think they're more. I'm more worried about I. Think the at the senior level. I think we'll be fine. I think I think Berhalter can get US woke up. But when you realize that now there's a lot of vacant use Co The two positions. I if that next cycle that I think we're in. We're having a bit of an issue now for the four Foundation for the future so Twain Twenty Six. I don't know exactly who's going to be part of that. Why what is that? You could end up with a lost generation. Because of that you know you could enter bill. Yeah you know you have these issue you of like the the. US Soccer wants everyone to move to Chicago All used coaches at basically everyone they wanna have of that. That mean hub which you so you understand that but the country is so big and maybe it may not be beneficiary. You may not be able to get. Chicago can't play soccer Around yeah so you may exactly were. You won't be able to attract the best coaches For our youth national teams. So that that's where I'm at right now just like worried about what the future will look like because because it doesn't look like there's going to be consistency that we sort of that. We really need to keep making into every walk up. What do you think about the argument that more players should be abroad? Really we have tons in the Bundesliga and stuff like that like people were like. Oh well we gotta make MLS strong. It's like people pulling at two ends of Lake Straw are at a rope. You know what I mean. We were just in Germany everywhere Low and he's a big from opponent. He's like I did. I went to Hanover and just spent my entire career. We played one club and he said the Bundesliga has a huge opportunity. And if American kids have the opportunity to go that they definitely should so I don't think you I don't think any answers correct. I mean I had you. I think my answers correct I would I would say you WANNA litter American kids all all over the world crispy. Listrik is the first first American. I know of that when you tell someone their American for the first time you like what you know. They're shocked because as in how good he is. You know. Pass the Americans. We sort of had to make excuses for Landon Donovan. Oh he would be great if he played. You know what I mean but nobody's building. Mls I think think if the better the higher the level the kid is either they come back to molest other great where they stay out in Europe and continue to sort of propel forward the projection or the idea the perception I I should say of an American player and I think that's almost more important. You don't build sort of that. The value of the American players continue to build the quality and the more and more sort of American players are playing playing Champions League and stuff like that did get beat for the for the World Cup for the national team. Yeah I agree. That was the all right. All right all right like we do have a players that came from MLS academies that made it to the men's national team yet like Paxton Palmdale all right so actually that there are they are mls Kademi. That are putting out real talent that have interest from Europe. Of course if you had the opportunity to go ought to Europe or the for the individual player I think that's great but with your question about building mls. I don't know if that I find that to be a priority no right because because we're gonNA build the MLS by bringing in not only having great players in the academy and then playing on almost I teams but does laptops coming over here right the Wayne. Rooney's leased even though Quote Unquote retirement leaks. But not only are we getting those high quality players but we're getting like young South Americans out playing on these teams so that is also going going to help us build. MLS and it doesn't necessarily the American player. The young America doesn't necessarily have to be responsible for building the League or yeah well thank you. That was so well thought out. That was very great. Thank you guys so much. I mean one of us is smart now. You both have been fantastic Make sure to follow on At the cool against wrecks on twitter soccer soccer cool against the worst at soccer hooligans on twitter and instagram graduate on I tunes spotify Ice Stitcher. I'm assuming oh anywhere. Got podcast. Go to them. They are the absolute best. There's a reason the guys are the best in the industry. My last question before we finish is what does it mean to be goalie. I WanNa know what what is the glorious like I need to know for the fans tell me am I am. I really like what's up because you asked the question. Thank you flip to me. I think has had a lot of definitions over the years but for us. It's someone who we defend American soccer. We we sort of defend what we think is riot You know we were. It's sort of like I don't know I wanNA use the term brave but it's you know be proud of who you are and say what needs to be said either. I hold that very the year two. We're both You know inner city Latino right be grew That's how we even that word being associated with that show. Joke was totally ironic. Because we're we're both Comedians Matt sliding anybody who weren't like we're not dogs but I think what the cool thing is that it's made people be more Not just be so defensive about American soccer almost be offensive and be like you. You know what this is. This is who we are this represent. We're trying to build this not only make the sport relevant amongst all the other sports right a lot of people who enjoy soccer in the. US are like they keep it to themselves. They have to be closeted soccer fans because they can't reveal it to their coworkers or their friends and stuff like that. And we've made made it a little bit more like you know what there's nothing to be ashamed of. And if I the Europeans make fun of us for long soccer whatever week clapback we we yell at that. We no longer going to be like. Oh you're right guys we're here now. Listen to your mate. We're going to go have ourselves donnybrook. I don't know what they do over there. But yes that sounds I I love that thank you I feel goalie after this interview and guys I thank you so much. Is there anything I may have missed anything. You guys want to plug real quick showing Fubo. TV and it's a bunch of different networks. You did you go to sports network DOT COM. You'll see over on Tuesdays and Thursdays at eight pm every single week. A face right. So yeah it'd be I check it out. You guys ladder. "Helping hoping for us. Owning at least tickets means like we're putting our money into the league as well like we. We care about Eric in soccer. What exactly brought you guys together? Make this podcast. We guys like hitting doing stand together and like stuff like daily. What was kind of like inspiration for this year while we were doing? Stand up for years. We've both been doing standard for about eleven years and Probably we knew we each had individual podcasts and then but we would meet on the scene doing shows and stuff but then we realized we both like soccer fee funds stuff like that and then when we started Alexis was talking about like you WanNa do soccer related projects like videos and stuff. I I was working on a sketch show sort of in this group of like I just want to make a bunch of stuff And we were all right. Let's do something soccer related than we made some videos And then we started the podcast and we missed a week since I A now. TV show so it's like say husband the whole Fubo TV. I mean also. How's it being famous? That's like kind of sick right like that's kind of cool like my whole life My Ego my my life up to my ego. I think it's going to. Ah Now. I mean this has been you know when we started the podcast. You know as as Comedians the reason we have individual podcast. The reason why we wanted to start this podcast because you spent a Lotta time during the day not really doing much for the most part. I'm sort of waiting for nights to perform in and you want to be productive but you WanNa do something you love and you WanNa put that content canal and hope that enough people see that they'll come see you perform stand up so we looked at this as a way to maybe cultivate a bit of a of a audience or fan base And you know once we got to offer Why in our lives like wait? You're stand up comics in American soccer budgets. Do you guys ever WanNa make money. You know like I thought I was going to become a blacksmith neck. You know like it's blowing glass. Who knows it could be anything? Yeah glass must be a nice guy. Yeah that's good. That's the best. I'm an open Mike. I know there's like this whole like what's it called Do you guys get that like people who you say like. Oh I do stand up versus open mic. I heard there's a big debate and like stand up comedy world about You guys feel that so I would say it's a level that you sort of recognized you know. There's a big debate. They're they're people that I know that are famous that are on TV. They're doing open mic throughout the week in New York A sort of prepare material comedies. The one of the few are from the sort of practice in front of the actual people so people see you struggle. Because you're working on it you know. Sometimes doing an open mic will help solve that. But you know once you get to the level we are. You don't get as many opportunities to do. It makes because we're so busy but yeah. Yeah how's that balanced. Oh sorry go ahead. Sorry I'm sorry. Say like an open. micrometres established media. There's no I mean like there's clearly a if somebody's Consistently doing it yet. Maybe not getting booked on a budget shows just yet you already see the. US appear if you are Sacrifices I know how hard it is and you could be doing other things with your time and it's a it's a real gripe nine so There's people that are doing shows. That can sell out theaters that I would not consider comedians. Maybe they're just like really possible or they have like draws because of the big youtube channel or something checkmark. Yeah absolutely seen. I've seen your parents are disappointed in you. You're halfway to be like you'll be inconvenient as every day who believes in you know you've got given up a lot of like relationships and you sacrificed family events and stuff for this thing that you love. So whether you're doing open mic like Christianson instead of you're doing it at a comedy club or at show you run. It doesn't matter if you do if you've done your comics just because you sell tickets that shit. Yeah like I've seen a screech. Do you stand up. I wouldn't really call them a stand up. Comedian just row screeched. Amazing would you. Is there any tips like for me. I would love a tip. I bombed the other day I was like Spiraling onstage and I was like all right. I'm GonNa Start Making Baltimore. The wire jokes was not relevant. Relevant whatsoever Is there any tips you would give to someone on like who's trying to like. Go Up and try and get into comedy. I would say like if you know right away when you grab a microphone or fits for you not for you. There's a lot of ways where I like so Chris and I are different like Christian could possibly sit in a room in right a joke out Anglo Television Begum. It'll be funny. I can't do that. I can't sit in a right. I whatever add or whatever it is that's not me. I need to go have to think of something funny and save on stage and I'll find the funny of onstage Sean. Very different in whatever. It is learning to do the other thing. You're not I mean give yourself opportunity to the thing if you Sort of write your jokes out and go tell them verbatim. Go up there and try not doing matt tried giving yourself like a bullet or it'd be like all. I thought that was funny. I told a friend that and go up there and you could build that world worked at other muscle. Because when you get to the point where you're booking big shows shows where you're doing things you may not have the chance to sit and write everything you're about to say you may need that other muscle. I think that's really important. I'm working really hard now. Ten in years in my career. I'm writing and it's very difficult because I didn't do it at the beginning. Seventy mine like kind of teaching yourself. Now Okay Yeah I would say the EH especially early on to not be these kind of the tips I got from people have been doing a long time is to not be not to judge yourself so harshly especially at open mic. Like don't bombing is fine. Don't worry about what people are sort of connecting to or if they're laughing vein necessarily like your do the same jokes for three months. If you have like. Don't be don't think that you have to do things a certain way. That's 'cause no there's no oh advice that I can't give you any advice that will lead you. You'll find your own because you'll never be able to mind because nightingale. Yeah I was GONNA end up doing and doing soccer podcast and then you have was not in the plans when I start making comedy careers more relevant like that was definitely definitely not the plan. So yeah just keep the law. The best advice is to keep doing it. There's no because it'll it'll just make more sense of the long gone and we're proof that if you do something you'd think is funny doesn't matter if you think anyway you can get spending other eventually. Yes we we are proof of sure we had to put a everyone's if for half years permissible but eventually you'll find a group of people in I think it was. I forgot who said it to I can't remember Joan rivers if all you ever do is make one percent of the audience love you want percents population. You'll feel theaters for the rest of your life. You know so yeah all you have to do is find your group of people that's why it takes so long to be a great comic as you have to sort of worm your way through a lot of body insists the five that really appreciate you are. Eventually that'll blow. I love it becomes a huge audience through how to Joan rivers quote. Wow I'm just I am taken aback this whole sidetracked podcasts mostly for me. I know we've got soccer. Yeah but I really appreciate you guys answering these questions. So in terms of the top five league we obviously call cover a lot of premier league and stuff like that. So we've been covering this whole year big arsenal fan obviously The Premier League raise. What have you made of this whole like you know the past? Couple of years the premier league's been very competitive all the other leagues have kind of had their one winner. You ventas the Barcelona the buyer Munich. CBS G obviously Now Liverpool's kind of leg ran away with it. Do you find this title race to be over already. I it's clearly over. I mean but I to me. Premier League is always. He's always hinges on the Christmas season. You know they play so many games during that part where no one else does so. There's always a way we could change in the second half I thought as an arsenal little family had a chance to catch lester during that time period a few years ago. Unless please don't bring that up please hang on L. Welbeck's right off the top of the forehead. I thought we had that Shit. Aw but to me. It's like it's really hard to sort of claim that there's winning whatever your Chelsea ran away with it You know city running away with it now Liverpool running away with it I i. I can't imagine they're not GonNa win. The League seems like they put all their eggs in that basket. Woody Champions League so I just hope arsenal finishes in the top four. I want to get back to champion. I just hope Everton doesn't get relegated. Let's go my God. I was about to say I mean Carlo enchiladas out there men luxury both both these teams. You're talking about our needing of managers gers right now Do you guys see them going any these clubs like there's Maximilian Luxury Chilanga. Here's another one Well I guess Gino Baccino. Well he's not going to arsenal but like back. He's already said he had a quote the other day not going on your because of Barcelona and he's not or he's not going to go to Barcelona. Because that's on your sorry sorry. And then Same with like Tottenham Arsenal. But like do you. Could you see him going man united only. I don't know how he got a job. But what around Madrid Catina I think actually is one of the room guys arsenal now. The guy that was supposed to get hired by in West. CFC IS UH being rumored as an Arsenal van Bronckhorst. Yeah Giovanni Braam van Bronckhorst I just want arsenal to get someone. I would love for them to keep Bloomberg until next season. Ended up at Perpetuate what we already have that it is easy to get him out of his rumors. Gut wants out of the city so I I'm happy with as far as Everton D- and they have such good players that there's no excuse for the team to be that bad. I mean I don't know what manager they're going to have a tough time reeling in a top level manager manager because who wants to coach there right. It just doesn't have the cachet of some of these other clubs But if they can get initially would be unbelievable right Ah They can make under the day though. It's still fairly people want to coach in the primarily. So you might want you might get someone who was like a big coach of Boondocks League or big coach coach. Leon who wants to make the lead to two primarily so I mean I I forget the guy's name but who's the dude that's at a much lower back Right now they're giving crushing. It will just lead lead. Yeah wants to make the leap. He goes to Abington. I don't know but road comb out with a better job. I mean they have the alleged. Theo Walcott anyway. I I love the that's my name and my cat is Theodore and say oh because you walkout like no but like they just happened to you. Know it's I know I feel like I'd be amiss if I didn't bring up the current. US Soccer Situation. What have you made of Greg's tenure? You're right now in the current state of the US. Men's national team feel feeling a little better or you guys are you guys doing you know I mean I waxed and waned depending on you know. I'll sort of how I feel that day. Wind Gregg Berhalter from Jersey. So Shouts Greg Jersey. Where we not call Taylor? I am from himself. Grew up in South Jersey and Millville grew up in bumble Cumberland County. So it's totally. Find Your Violence Cumberland County. When did we don it? It is my father's a total redneck. Uncle Slob and uncle hen bird to go to the club it is. It's not a good time to see the term because I know it's offensive but pine..

"Know you they know this thing of you are listening to you. Lot Americans arkins discussing soccer or lads. PODCASTS this is the Monday special episode and we have our guest guest ever here on on this show. Is the soccer cogan. What's up guys? What's up as a go good I'm really excited. Mike Law for these shows. No I get a lot of success. You know slack for that. I usually drink whatever's in the fridge currently I'm Jay Black Jerry Whitelaw which you know to each his own poison. I suppose That's why you know it's it's easy. I don't feel like you know bloated afterward. They're Nice. I used to be very against the Seltzer. Now I'm like Lacroix it's you know it's it's a a lot of fun so you guys are currently down in Florida for the What's called ICC futures? You were talking a little inside the episode a little about that before before but if you want to tell people exactly what you're doing down to Florida that'd be really cool Garissa the ICU. Just the International Champions Cup most people know as like throughout the summers ars when like the Big European teams common play Here in the US. It's like a competitive series of friendlies. Very much yeah but so we're at the IDC futures which is the same concept. But this is for the youth teams the academy team. So this is these are like the fifteen boys and fourteen gene girls And they play against each other in environment. That is All all expense paid trip off for the kids they get treated needed like superstars. They get a a ton of swag. It's like a really cool thing that that was the biggest surprise seeing how happy these are to be here and be treated like professional athletes as you know and we're here to while we were MC me events our doing a bunch of stuff with with the kids like shooting videos and now we're also looking to start getting into third party ownership the job lucidly ship Youtube. We're hooligans agency. Oh my God why be missing. I didn't mention that you guys have are hilarious on social media. You make sure to follow them at the cool again is that you're at on twitter At soccer hooligans soccer hooligans on twitter and instagram guys are also on I tunes spotify everywhere. I mean if you're a soccer fan listen. This is the collaboration. No one knew they ever wanted so on Jerry. Happy to be a part of it so before I get into soccer stuff I do. Have I have some beef with you guys. You talk a lot of crap about Wiwa on twitter and as a South Jersey you know Philadelphia resident for some time before I moved up here to the Greater New England area. What's up guys like? What what can we do to help? I see a lot of this like Taylor. Ham Talk and whatnot. What's what's up with this Wa wa hate? We all know it's daily hand while was trash unless it's to come rules man. Are you a hoagie hero. Zero what you guys call it. I'm cool with sub. I'm cool with Hoagy but hero is the official term. Guys are obviously big pizza guys. I don't really have you. You know any good pizza here in New England you have spy and you're in Brooklyn Right. That's where like the mainstay of the show is. Yeah Yeah Yeah Okay do you have. What your favorite joint I would say industry Williamsburg you're in Williamsburg? Brooklyn is absolutely incredible Europe by Boston. You've got Santa Appeals over by the airport you got AIDS REGGIA which is in the north side. That's it's really famous superbeets in unfortunately guys also like to eat Greek pizza which is it's the Wa wa of pizzas Come on man like you guys probably like sheets come come on. I can't do this is it. Is it just because it has the stereotype being gassed Asian food. I don't get it man staple is really confusing for us as Dino's because y was kind of what we call plus the plus. Is You go. There is a nation sandwiches winter. The bus game. All right well I find I'm GONNA move on because like I can't. I'm not going to dwell on this because it's going to hurt my heart but I wanNA talk some soccer. Obviously you guys are big. MLS guys you're at the final this year right. Yeah I was. That was that whole experience. It was incredible Seattle Man. I'll that whole is. It felt the entire diner city. was there for the game was really cool. The earthquakes when they scored goals as you physically feel the world shake underneath the real thing it was ever offer Chris Simon Century Lincoln Yeah I think it was. They were more people there than like you know when they attend seahawks games. It was pretty intense and you can clearly see how important commanders are To that city so yeah I mean we that was already our forth. MLS Cup and they've been on the second that they've won that we'd been tagged but it's it's like you know who the Good Luck charm. My obviously so yeah. What do you all been your favorite wondered? You feel as though. Is there a favorite of the ones you've been to. I'd like I would say this is if not number one number one A. It's really hard between this and last year's Atlanta Anna was that tailgate was unbelievable. It felt like a coming out party for soccer in America. Erica Linda Yeah Seattle. It felt like we were in a weird world where soccer has always mattered. You know in America so it's hard to compare the two but I would say the two of those will they still like sort of I get butterflies thinking about both of those cups. My next question's going to be like on our show we talk mostly premier league and world world soccer's We always jokes were big. MLS guys but we're not really nice more of just being sarcastic convince me what is your pitch. MLS has grown immensely. I been trying to watch more games. What is your pitch to say like a lot of our fans are trying to get more into like? Mls what is your head just like. Why should we care more about this compared to like the European top five weeks before local local at the that that would be the first kind of message I mean we talk about We sort of made that conscious choice to or from relief. But I'm saying he's he's innocent clamp. Hey I'm a governor myself one baby so So we we made the conscious choice like you know a lot of people kind of with down American Eric in soccer they put down. MLS If the butt of a joke right where we stand up comedians right so we constantly even amongst peers did not sounds that. Make Fun of the sport but then he just talk about American soccer. You like there's going to be even worse like you're GonNa get but the more we were around a around players around You know the teams and just people who work for the League Lou. People are really trying to make sport relevant in this country and really the Mesler do it is like you know to get people to go see games and the early easy complaint is of equality or whatever but what outside of the top ten teams onto in the permanently. Garbage seems absolutely watson run. I don't want to hear a God damn thing. I'm a big Fan. I don't really know what they're you know. Mascot is still. It's still very confusing. But that's very that's very fair and I liked that you know and you guys like the playoff system system. Compared to the point system at the end of the season the title. I've I've kind of grown to fall in love with the idea of the playoffs because it's undeniably fun whether you think I think it's fair or not or it should just be a single single table whether you like that or not. Doesn't matter revolt it is fun. It is certainly fun and it's just something so late about how insane American soccer is is Tam. There's game and I when I say piggyback on what Christie said is you don't have to pick one you can still like Chelsea Elsie and also like rebel New Yorker or and they did it or whatever you can also like American soccer. You don't have to be one yes you could stop saying make you know what I mean. Oh my God I love that. I'm a Philadelphia Union fan by default. I was actually born in Chester. Pennsylvania at Cooper Cooper Hospital. It's a big Jimmy. Kurt van as Ginger. Love Me Jimmy Curtains so he's actually We got passes one day. I don't know how we pulled that off. You're actually in the press box. One sometime got to go meet Jimmy Afterwards Bedoya and everyone in the locker room and all the time. I'm just smilingly. This isn't happening the whole time so I I would actually like to ask as of union fan was a kind of a disappointing. It's such a great regular season. How they fell out in the play offs the the Philly fans for the show? I mean look at eight that night game against The rebels was unbelievable right so after they go up against Atlanta you know. They definitely flavor playing at mercedes-benz tough overall but the Philadelphia Union. More like like the the they had good results luscious detail and toews yet. But I'm just so impressed. Compared to last year where like nobody was going to games aims of it was just a really difficult to like. Just connect with the community and you realize like the sons of Ben all the effort that was pulled from from the club to just get more people excited about the team we went to even Fang all the stuff fan. You saw what we were there for the CFC's Philly Games We were doing press stuff too uh-huh and we were on the field looking around the police which jammed the Velika parring gap. You'll go philly. Yeah like yeah sold out stadium Gesture is feels feels like just it feels good is small at about twenty thousand. But that ain't a raucous twenty thousand It's it's The identity is very much via its the same constant belittling anybody man. It's just a brand. We have a brand had it not like people think soccer fans off whatever not build up the unit out now. I loved it very much. The Seniors Villi people. Yeah they Serbia different culture. It's a problem it's so funny because like Philly fans get this hard core like mentality but we feel things I remember when my grandfather we won won the super bowl with the eagles. I'm getting off track. This guy who served in Vietnam. He's never I love you know. Hugs or anything I remember. He called me when we won the Super Bowl. I I never thought I would make it to this point. It was like crying on the phone so we do not like the most like egg people but we do have kind of like hardcore your brand but that's really cool so are you guys Newark FC fans or Red Bull fans local. Or would you say I'll win. NYC AFC started is kind of what we started the podcast. I'm originally originally thought was the kind of focus on but So we are both NYC season ticket holders But we've kind of just we talked about the whole leagues over fans amend my CFC. For sure you're in. I think that lends a little bit of credibility too because American soccer fans for so long like well. Are you really committed to being an American furniture you paint. Are you a part of the League or you know.

"A great place to find all sorts of advice on not only soccer, but other sports and my correct, Pat. Yeah, thanksgiving. Okay. Cool. So yeah. Pat, welcome in. So if I miss anything tell the people at home where they can find you tell them a little bit about yourself. And. Yeah, if you wanna plug anything right ahead. Okay. Well, thanks will. You know? It's great being on lad Fahd castle before you anything. I'm just gonna. This. That's so unbranded I've already actually already cracked my because I'm staying even more Brian. I I've opened on my beer says I've been home. So I I'm I'm like, I'll crack it again with you. So so my Miller highlight. But what are you drinking, Pat? Tap seventy nine. It's this double idea, and he here in California. It's two nineteen technically puts me in the hall range. I'm okay, it's Friday. I'm I'm good. I'm comfortable with myself. So that's good. It's eighteen everyone should be comfortable with each theirselves. You know? So fry baby. So yeah, Pat, tell us a little bit about what you do with a pro pro fail. You say that great. It looks like it's. Pro profile, but these Germans as it provided, and they say with the, you know, the German accent? And it's really great bunch of guys that I work with and they asked me about a year and a half ago to come on and be a link for opportunities for players that are looking for an MLS experience. And you know, everybody in there is from you know, for second or third division Bundesliga, then then there's some people in the EP L and. Typically when they are getting, you know, like bastion swinestein's. They're like, oh, I can milk. A few more years out of my my career. Let's go to the MLS. And but it starting to change a little bit with some money. That's be being come available to attract younger players who are closer to the upswing in their careers. So it's getting exciting. And there's a lot more opportunities for players to come on over. I mean, they're always was, but they just reluctant to take him pay cut and move over here. But now, it's like an exciting. So even in the US L pro there's some stuff available, and and so we're just busy getting players place where they need to go. So it's fun. No. That's so exciting. And I mean, your continued work help rose this beautiful sport in our country. So thank you. Thank you for your service. You know, it was just Veterans Day. So I appreciate you. I'm not going to, you know, it's not stolen valor. It's just you know, I appreciate your work. And and the soccer community me and more just make dick jokes and drink beer. You're actually out there in the front lines. Dick, jokes and drinking beer. That's that's pretty much our tagline. Now. It's just like, that's what we do, you know? But we help people like us who work in cubicles get by with their days. So that's what we do. So. Well, hey, well, thank you. And it's love I love your guys content. I on my podcast, if those of you who are over at pro soccer talks podcast. It's pretty, you know, G rated, you know, I gotta keep it clean. And I love being able to just throw the gloves off and just drink beers belch cuss all that stuff with you guys. I can't wait to couch surf hot your place. Just have a blast. So yeah, you're more. Welcome to come to south Philadelphia. Martin's actually in North Carolina now so pick your poison. So both are pretty pretty trashy. Some would say I you know, I like my trash city. But that's that's fine. But Pat, lemme word, you know, we've we said this on the podcast a budget times. I'm not an MLS guy Mearns on MLS guy is not like we hold a grudge against it. We just never grew up watching it or guy got into it. So obviously, the big talk is the MLS playoffs that are going on right now, we have the Western Conference, which is Portland, and we versus Kansas City f c is at third abbreviation. I I get all weird out by teams that have like United football club. Sporting sporting, KC sporting Kansas City. Yep. Okay. Like Sporting Lisbon got it. That's all. I remember..

"And welcome back to the GSM. See soccer podcast. We just went over the new coaches in the world of soccer Fulham has new coach Claudio Ranieri as you may know from Leicester City, and Santiago Solari has accepted the managerial position for Real Madrid until twenty twenty one. Of course, we know that can change if they if he's not successful this year. They're they're not afraid to make a change. If needed don't matter what the contract says. So we have some interesting news notes around the world of soccer, Jeff, we'll start with a funny one. We'll start with one of the weirdest things that you'll hear in the world of soccer today. So so in the women's Super League, which is a woman soccer league in London or maybe just England. I'm not entirely sure destinations are though it wasn't man. There was a fischel referee going to the game. He forgot his coin. Which what do you think you would do if? Got your forgot your coin for the coin toss the game. I'd probably go asked somebody like in the crowd or maybe like a cameraman. Like, hey, do you have a quarter? I borrow you have a pound you have a euro quid quid. Do you have anything that's a coin, and I can flip and that has a heads or tails marker? No. He went a different way. He change it up. I don't think we'll ever see in a professional sport again. What's that the two cab? He made the two women on either side. Do right, paper scissors. No. He didn't winter in that decided the sides. Wait, he made them rock, paper scissors to see who got the ball. And who got which side? Yeah. Basically choosing sides. Yeah. Isn't that the most ridiculous? And he got suspended for this get suspended for this. I think you should give the man a race just problem solving easier to get a cooling, then do something completely different abide. The rules. Are there for the rules? The there are rules of this game and come on now. All right. So when I was going through college this like, oh, we can't do coin. Okay. Let's play a game tag on the field before the game starts. So when I was going through college, I refereed soccer against make some cash, right? Nice job like kids soccer adults mostly for like the recreation district ever. Oh, yeah. For sure. But the thing is is that. It's an easy job. When you're in college. Right. You can work in the evenings. You make a little you make some good money doing that like twenty five thirty bucks a game. That's twenty five thirty bucks an hour. Pretty good for college kid. So. Sometimes I'd forget my coin. Absolutely. It's not that hard. Okay. I understand. You haven't had a gear. Right. Yes. I understand that. But you know, how easy to find a coin look on the sidewalk or something? So I would always hold. If I did that. I'd always either make them do rock, paper scissors there at a stadium, right? Yes. It will go to go to a vendor and say, hey, do you have any change? Can I borrow cord? I'll give it back to your promises. Sometimes I'd make them do game to start. Gimme some change hotdog, man. So sometimes I direct river scissors. Sometimes I'd hold -solutely. Sometimes I'd hold a hand. I'd hold my hand behind my back and hold a one or two and asked him to guess shut your trap. What what's wrong with that? That's that's stupid. It's rec soccer. Well, K if this okay what if it was the World Cup? No, I wouldn't make them do that..

"And welcome back to the G S M C soccer podcasts, of course, part of the GMC podcast network. We just talked about the Manchester Darby and other action as it pertained to English soccer. So. We have new coaches, we're at an international break right now. So this is kind of a time period. Worse for some adjustments are made were new coaches are some coaches are fires new coaches appointed some interesting news out of Madrid. So they fire we'll pet to be just about two weeks ago. And they're looking for a new coach. But in the meantime, they give Santiago Solari the keys to the car the keys to the Maserati, and who doesn't like a Maserati your Real Madrid. I think that club is compared to something like that. I come on Rodney like a like a sports car Lamborghini. Okay. So he gets his chance t-. He gets his opportunity to go from the second re the team to the first team manager. And since he's been appointed. They have been undefeated. They have scored goals. Well, time came where they. Make choice either hire them on permanently for the rest of the season or go. Elsewhere. What do you think they did? I think they've honestly made the right choice. I mean going on feed it really speaks for itself now. Yeah. And they gave him a contract twenty twenty one which is surprising. So Santiago story has signed a contract. So forty two years old. He is a former former Real Madrid player. So he knows the system he knows the club. Very well. And since he's taken over the team scored goals, we talked about in previous podcast how they were sitting records a Real Madrid for their droughts and go in goal scoring abilities. And you know, we talked about them losing Rinaldo and how that affected the team will since so has taken over. They've scored four goals. Two goals five goals and four goals in their last four games. So you know, when someone like is a foreign member of that club. And they're starting to coach they know this. They know the system they. No, the the pressure. They know that what the what the owner wants. You know, what there is the atmosphere is like you just have a familiarity with that other other coaches really have when they're coming into a new club. And I think that's really taken advantage of me. Like you said they're scoring goals. They're improving on all aspects. They were drowning when it comes to goals and other flooding in goals. So obviously, something's working there in there in six place, which is crazy if you ever there should never be a time whether that will on the table, but they're only four points behind Barcelona Barcelona was defeated by real beddis over the weekend. Four three surprising result. But that result coupled with.

"Influx of fresh blood new talent, and they do have it. Germany produces a lot of great players as a lot of good young players out there. We mentioned early Royce on a team over ner. They are missing center forward. It will be interesting to see if they find him. I don't think team over owners. That guy. He's more of a, I think, a striker maybe winger. Than a true center forward, like a like a mere soft close that they used to have or Mario Gomez guys that they didn't get a whole lot of credit, but they scored a ton of goals. Their positioning was great, and they allowed the players around them to do so much and they ended up being the end result, getting those tap ins, those headers and things like that. So jeff. There's another interesting game Brazil Argentina that you wanted to know what happened there? Well, yes. Brazil and Argentina, like two of the most most popular, you can say soccer national teams that happened, I believe it was Monday, five believe right on that. I could be wrong. I'm making sure that it was yesterday. They played. It was yesterday. Yeah. So what was the score? The score that game was Brazil won Argenti in nothing so Brazil. One one thing in final time and that I think that's huge because Argentina's been known like been rising up in Brazil. They've always been known as one of the better soccer teams of all time. Like nation wise Argentina's been up there recently. So it's it's kind of like a, it's a wake-up call saying, hey, we're still here type of thing. Yeah. It's an interesting game. My my biggest thing about this game was that took place in Saudi Arabia to South American teams that play in Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia's has has him controversy politically. It's just weird. Like is this where to go that far for friendly game when when their neighbors. WWE because having a show in Saudi Arabia, it would be like if USA they offered them a lot of money, but it would be like if USA Mexico played in played against each other in Saudi Arabia, like that'd be the same thing like. Rabia paid them money to play. Well, yeah, of course. I mean, there's an incentive there, but. For Argentina. I don't know if it means anything. They didn't have messy. Messy is not playing with the team right now. We'll see when he comes back, but if he comes back name more, of course, played Brazil ruled out a really strong team. I think that we saw the best players for Brazil. We saw Alison, their number one goalie Miranda Martinez Louise's, Danilo continue customer Arthur, Gabriel's zoos, Roberta for me, no and neymar. I mean, that's pretty much their strongest eleven..

"I just wonder. They usually lose to a bigger bigger, bigger soccer country, not a bigger population country, but a bigger soccer country in, but they've beat Mexico. And the second, the probably Erica is it's not a soccer country, right? I mean, it's definitely way more of a soccer country now than it was twenty years ago compared to the other sports in America. This one's there's more going on here for sure. So it's, it's the age old. The MLS whenever compete with the NFL. Right. But you just mentioned the MLS Melissa seen great strides, and just the last five or six years this, the league in the United States is growing. The US l. which is considered the second division, and the US is growing considerably soccer in this country continues to be one of the most popular sports in just keeps getting more and more popular as this gin. Ration- people between millennials and whatever you wanna call the generation before and after them, they see soccer as more. Popular than they do other sports like soccer still growing in this country. Kids still play this at an extremely high rate is we see a lot of kids focusing towards soccer and basketball from football football, seeing lower numbers. But I think that reason is a head injuries and soccer doesn't really have those. You know what funny enough? Soccer is the number two sport for concussions isn't really. Yeah, because people people get hit by the ball. Well, that's okay. You can kick the ball like a good solid kick is like sixty seventy miles an hour. Like if you get hit like point, blank range, you know, in the head of just compared to football, I feel like it's below lake distant to. It's actually number two. I wouldn't say it's a distant too, but I mean, yes, football is more violent. And those hits are are usually a little bit harder and their with their with another head instead of a ball. So that makes a difference. But going back to the US and their last two matches, they lose two to Columbia. They work out class. I mean, let's just be honest. They had the lead in the game, which was interesting, but they were outclassed. I mean, Columbia showed why they're one of the best countries in the world at soccer. You know, you guys at commerce Rodriguez that we talked about Quadra geo thou- I mean, these guys are world class, and this is a country that could win a World Cup like Columbia has shown that if that they are one of the teams, one of the best teams not just South America, but in the world. So the US lose, you know, they were dominated in the game, but they showed some some flashes. They scored two goals, killing a cost scores. Another young player, the US. It was nice to see. I think these games are important. It's good to take these lumps, but it's good to see the types of teams that the US will have to be if they ever want to achieve gory. I, I like them playing The Columbia's of the world and not the Trinidad and Tobago 's. Even though we have. The fact that they play the best competition the world rather than the weakest come. Yeah, they're playing. They're playing a young squad. They're sending a young squad out there to play some of the best players in the world. They're saying, go ahead shows what got, and of course you're gonna lose. You can only get better by playing better. Exactly. You're getting, you're getting experience. You're you're getting the see what great soccer looks like. So it's great for these players. They lose four to the last night. They play against Peru, and I thought they played very well in this game at times. Peru is another good team. Another World Cup team. They didn't advance in the group stage of the World Cup, but they were very unlucky. They were a solid team, maybe the most unlucky team in that tournament. When we look back at it, they they missed so many opportunities to score in their group stage matches. It's almost incredible that they didn't score more goals. But Peru, again is another solid, South American team on the top five teams in South America. But the. Heads flashes of that game where they really had control the game, they're creating chances. They lead for most of the game. I mean, they went for almost forty minutes of that game. They tie one, they give that way goal. But again, we talked about earlier, Josh sergeant, he scores for the US..

"They don't really, really love that one scene with the Chicago fire dynamo sense. I like that the fighting, go, dynamo tried to go different. So they were originally branded as like Powell, was it? I think it was like the eighteen ninety six because that was when the city of Houston was founded or something like that, and then they quickly abandoned it. But I would have been interested to kind of see something different pundits legacy. Yeah, I, you know, Philadelphia union, I get that, but it's also like we have got snake as Mascow. I don't know. I just can't. Our Krista the snake. Back to the revolution. Yeah, like unite or die. And like it was like the snake going through the rip all the different. Like, you know, they, I don't know. I'm not going to get history. Let's thanks very much. All right. I have one more question. I'm going to wrap this up. I've been asking this around with all major views. What do you guys think is the biggest thing holding America from really like hugging from like getting behind soccer? Do you think it's lack of scoring? Do you think it's flopping something? It's boring? Do we think is holding America Merican fans getting into sports fans getting into soccer Dominican? I do. I can go first and then I got a compose, which flipped one a month. Say, no, I'm trying to think too, but I got one. I think it's the fact that there's too many other sports to choose from when one seat, like if you're soccer team isn't doing well, people will just move on and be like, okay, well, we have football to watch your best football to watch, especially in the bigger markets like Philadelphia, like New York City, like LA, like a lot of Atlanta. There's a lot of teams around and we just have too much sports in the media right now that you can just ignore soccer if you want to. If your team's not doing well, and it becomes kind of an afterthought and. Just a side note, seem not making the World Cup is not gonna help anything. Right? So this Christians, my my short answer is is probably time like we're this sport has existed here for over one hundred years and people don't necessarily know or understand all of the history, but that's because it's come come in different ways than there hasn't been a league like MLS that has lessened for more than twenty years at this point. And so probably that is is the is the thing you know, I can get into training compensation, solidarity, payments, and all of that sort of interweaving. But that's a whole rabbit hole that I don't. I don't wanna take the listeners down. They're listening to me for almost an hour already. So short answer is is probably just time. I mean, we're already seeing different markets just popping up in being interested in soccer in US l. is exploding and MLS people beaten down the door to get in and the sport is growing here and it just needs more time to continue to to develop and so that that's what I'll say. Yeah, I definitely think. From what I've heard from a lot of people, the lack of scoring I hear from this funny Liverpool fan, actually, you guys like this that if we change the goals from one to seven. Would would jump at that one before. For it in the post. Throwing points fucking crazy. This is the best forever and it's like nothing. Nothing has changed as your interpretation of what down. Yep. Goal means like, you know, it's just. I think it's just silly and I think I definitely agree with you guys. I think it's definitely has made huge strides. I think not making into World Cup, definitely hurt us a bit a lot actually. But I think it's definitely going in the right direction, but, hey, guys, you guys so much for coming on again. Can you tell guys where you can find him? I knew guys are on Spotify now. So shout. You guys. So tell the listeners, your social media and all sorts of shit crochet..

"But I mean, and murdered him and his. I think he's just dead so. But your thoughts about the future of US. Soccer? I'm pretty. I'm pretty much ready to make a clean break from the older generation. The retired Bradley's getting off their Josie. Jozies Josie. I'm, he might pop in again. I'm ready to move forward and I hear a lot of say, well, you bring such and such player veteran. He could teach these guys and you know, when they go down hunters for qualifier, he's going to be such as such player. He's going to be the guy that kind of shepherds. The young. I'm not. I don't really buy that, especially kind of what happened with the last generation where they had. You know, a lot of people remanded assizes twenty four team World Cup. I don't. I thought it was kind of a middling thing. I thought the Belgian game where everybody was like so excited about Tim. How're breaking the the saves record while how'd you get into that position where you force them how to make homeless as is. You know, I'm ready to climb to move away from that generation. Not not that the spirit under some great players there and they did have some good achievements, but not qualifying for twenty teen. And for not having that big of a showing and twenty fourteen I'm ready to move on. I'm ready to, you know, kind of liver die with these younger guys. I mean, it's, you You know, know, it's. it's gonna be Christian, pulisic steam. I mean, that's the reality of it. And you have like Jimmy, where to you, bless some wants to fight for spy PS, Jay, and I hope he doesn't. And it's exciting that you know young guy that that you know has kind of impatient and wants to fight for fight for spot and one in the biggest and best teams in the world. And that's great. And I think I think it's gonna pay off all to my form. You have guys like Josh charge and you have to really solid defense kind of there. We had Jeff Clarke Carlisle along. We're talking about of similar things offer me as peon who comes national team spectacularly, and he said he thinks the defense is there the new defenses arrived and and I, it's kinda ready to happen and I'm just ready for the new generation to before is solid. You saw kind of England. England took a chance in the World Cup in really broke from a lot of the lot of the older. Players and a lot of those guys on. And south gate was I'm, this is my team going younger, go some Dame's that aren't the marquee names, but this is the best team. I think I could put it put together and this is the best team. I think I could go four with in in this Cup, and I think US is there. I think it's time to say, you know, we have the break from what we did these in the new guys. This generation es are the guys are gonna push us forward. Sorry, I just was getting just two Stars Stripes excited. Okay. I'm back. I'm back but go back to England. I mean, they couldn't figure out a play. Frankly, part is zero the midfield because they're like, you can't flame at the same time. It must love that you have like the daily alleys rash. The dyers. It's so exciting to see that you in the back of your just compared it to. 'cause I was all about it coming home during the world up, like I don't have Merican this is coming home. Maybe it's that just excites me so much Christian. I think just in the past couple of guys just heard twenty scored on his birthday. He saved Dorman from points the other day or got points the other day in the last minute draw. I mean, I think he's on the right track to become the greatest American soccer player, and I'm not obviously crazy for saying that, right. No, he's got that. Extra something that you see great players have where they can just..

"Right. And welcome to the GSM see soccer podcast. This episode is brought to you by the GSM see podcasts that work, and as always I am your host Jesse top. You. All right. Finally had the comeback leak started up again as weekend. We'll talk about that for the first statement. Second segment we'll be talking about Manchester United. Paul Ponca in Barcelona. Third segment we'll be talking about Rinaldo. He just had his first match with Venice scored a goal there, so we'll talk about their expectations and all that. And then for the fourth segment, we will be talking about anything else going on the world of football, soccer, say whatever you wanna call it probably get some Wayne Rooney talk in there for those that haven't seen his play with these United from their game, Sunday against Orlando city. Please check that out. I mean, nothing better than that at all. Literally nothing better. So is what's going on for today? And by mean. I love the fact that soccer's you around. A, yeah. We had the World Cup in the summer and all that only couple of weeks later, we got the PL back. So let's take a look at scores and see what happened around the league. So on Friday. We had Manchester United and Leicester City playing United ended up winning that one to one goes from Paul. Papa got a penalty in the third minute scored that. Jamie Vardi scored in the ninety second minute, and then you had Luke Shah who scored United second goal in the eighty. Third minute. Thing that was first goal with the senior team and. I mean, his first touch you get tell was a bad one, but just the way the ball bounced white me which is part for for him to finish off scorned right there. But nonetheless it was a decent goal. Then on Saturday, we had taught him playing Newcastle, United. A lot is made about Tottenham not buying new players this transfer window. I think that is a bit of a problem, but it wasn't against Newcastle. Tottenham ended up winning that one to one. All three goals in this game were scored in the first twenty minutes. You advertising in scoring in the eighth minute. The adjusted loose scoring in the eleventh minute for Newcastle Delhi scoring the eighteenth minute for Tottenham. Harry Kane, still another day in August without a goal and not only have necessarily a problem, but our wages, something funny to talk about the dude scores. I mean, imagine if he did score and August August wasn't a promise scored in August all the dude lead. The goal scored literally every single season. I mean, he's always up there and like I said, he's a month behind each time. So we'll see. Maybe he starts August, he'll be winning. We scored the most goals in the league every single year. We'll see born with Cardiff City, two zero. We at Crystal Palace bidding newly promoted form two zero. There will result how scoring seventy nine th minute..
