Mike Shinoda on Beats, Rhymes and Linkin Park
"Tell me about what you're doing on twitch weird man. It's great i love it. When quarantine for star started everyday was the same day. I was in pajamas half the time. It was just like walking around. in sweats. like wasn't depressed but it was just like everything is the same so when i started streaming effectively because it created like structure so i stream i started then and i still do stream five days a week. A stream weekdays ten to noon or one ish and that was a nice like it was a nice way to be like. Oh i've got like you know. I've got my weekdays now i'm not streaming today. I know it's saturday. It's just a stupid thing. And i got to us. Really dig in with this space and get creative and get weird which is part of the most fun part of it is doing stuff you go. I didn't even know that was a weird idea. That was fun to do and all last year is getting. I was getting faster. And faster and faster in terms of making a track. And then i realized that the end of last year like how do i do. Now that i've done this for a while and starting to get a little bit burnt. It like i wanted to do something different with it and i decided early on my wouldn't do vocals because i think that would burn me out so it's just making instrumentals and then i realized i could since i live on twitch and there's anywhere between i don't know like a thousand and i think we peaked at like almost thirty thousand people watching at one time i wanted to do something to like. Enhance the channel and give back to the people that have been watching so i started taking fans submissions of vocalists and songs. 'cause i just realized looking instagram and looking at tiktok like there's so many good artists out there who have no following. They've got like you know. Six hundred people following them and they're actually very good and so. I just started taking submissions from those people. That i let i called. I mean you'll get this joke right away. I started calling the shots the a an army. So it's like it's like nine hundred people whose job it is to go find me the best stuff and they do they go they go and find the good stuff and they bring it to me. And they're like the more they say the more they shout like. Look at this one. Look at this one. I know it's pretty good so cool. Yeah and so. I've been i do two to three starting like a couple of weeks ago. I've been able to do two to three brand new songs all in a morning. Probably like a stream. And a half. I get a song done from scratch till i finished and i sent him. Something effectively like mixed and mastered so incredible that they can release so fun man. It's really really fun. And the fans. I mean you can imagine how excited they are right and some of the cases what i what. I haven't talked to the fans on the channel about actually on telling you about. This is that i will reach out to somebody and say. Hey that thing you posted on tiktok or instagram was really cool. Would you want me to produce it. And i say that. Because they've used the hashtag they've used shinoda produce me as the hashtag so they've they've raised their hand and said i want my to produce me. I hit them on the. Dmz say you want me to produce and they always say yes and then half the time they say. I haven't finished the song though. Like the thing i posted is verse and a chorus and i don't have a second verse. I don't have a bridge or any you know middle aged or whatever anything else and so. It's like okay. Well like take your time. Don't rush. Because i want you to be. I want you to submit something you love because like the whole ideas for you to get to more people than you've already got to so give me something great and when it's ready than send it to me and i and generally if it's if it's somebody in that scenario i find that they'll get back to me within like three or four days. And what are they usually get back to you with a more expanded same demo but with all the parts. Yeah it's usually like a we. Transfer link or something like that with multi tracked vocals and i always tell them like. I'll tell them like speed it up like to this bpm or whatever or i'll tell the make shirts and you're like very best range. It sounded low to me but up to you. And then i can and they can go crazy on the on the the Overdoses and harmonies and background book. Whatever else they wanna do they do but they do that. Before the trackers before there's a track is that correct. Yeah before there's a there's a trap so what you get is basically finished vocal stems for a song. Yeah i menu start from scratch. You take it as an acapella. Yeah and you build music to support whatever that is. Yeah do you remember when we were doing. A thousand suns together. Yup that at the end of that record before the first single the catalyst was the single on that record before the single came out so no fan had heard the song we released pieces of stems to that song and we told them take these pieces. Make a song out of them. We didn't give them enough to know what the song even was. We just take pieces and make a song out of it. And whoever's thing is the coolest to us we're gonna put you on our record on the album itself and we ended up putting them on. I think it was when When they come from me was the song we put them on but we chose it based on who is like as i recall beginning some of this wrong but as i recall it was like we gave them pieces to remix but they'd never heard the song they were remixing so i called it like the pre mix like they just they had to just assume the song and that's how i feel like there's something to that something about that the release this where it's like. I don't know what you're thinking. Your song is. But here's what i hear just based on that vocal on a grid socal. It's fun man. Superfund that thousand sons is is my favorite of the things we worked on together. That's my favorite. Just because i feel like it really is it. Felt like the beginning of something new and something new and really good. We didn't like the the the record before it minutes to midnight was the whole effort. The whole when are we first met. You asked the band. What are you guys envision doing with this album like y y are we talking like what do you wanna do and we all said like we want to. We wanted to redefine the identity. The banning the whole point was to make something that didn't sound like the stuff that people that are here because albums went in two so similar. And you're like great. That's exactly how i feel. And he's you said. I don't know if i would want to work with the band if you didn't feel that way so it's great. We're all on the same page and we just kind of hit it off from there

"How the grinch stole christmas by dr seuss. Every who down in whoville light. Christmas a lot but the grinch live just north of veal did not the grinch hated christmas whole christmas season. Please don't ask why no one quite knows. The reason it could be as head wasn't screwed on just right it could be. Perhaps his shoes are too tight. But i think that the most likely reason of all may have been that. His heart was two sizes too small. Whatever the reason is hard or shoes. He stood there on christmas eve. Hating the who's staring down from his cave with a sour grinchey frown. The warm lighted windows below on the town for he knew every who down in whoville beneath was busy now hanging mistletoe wreath and they're hanging stockings. E snarled with a sneer. Tomorrow is christmas it practically here. Then he growled with his grinch figures nervously drumming. I must find some way to stop christmas from a main for tomorrow. He knew all the who girls and boys would wake brighton early. They'd rush for their toys and then whole the noise show the noise. Doi's noise noise. That's one thing. He hated the noise. Noise noise noise. Then the who's young and old would sit down to a feast. And they feast on they feast and they feast. Feast feast feast. They would feast on who pudding and rare who rose beast which was something that grinch couldn't stand in the least and then they do something he liked. Leashed all every who down in whoville. The tall and this mall would stand close together with christmas bells ringing. They'd stand hand in hand and who's would start singing. They'd sing sing sing. sing sing. Sang and the more the grinch thought of the who christmas saying the more the grinch thought. I must stop this whole thing. Why for fifty three years. I've put up with it now. I'm must stop christmas from coming. But how then he got an idea. An awful idea the grinch gonna wonderful off idea. I know just what to do. The grinch laughed in his throat and he made a quick santa claus hat and a coat and he chuckled and clucked. What a great grinchey trick with this code in this hat. I'll look just like saint. Nick all i need a reindeer. The grinch looked around but since reindeer are scarce there were none to be found. Did that stop the old grinch. No the grinch simply said if. I can't find a reindeer make quan instead. So he called his dog max then. He took some red thread and he tied bighorn on the top of his head. Then he loaded some bags and symbols empty sacks on a ramshackle sleigh and he hitched up old. Max then the grinch said got up and the slaves started down toward the homes. Where the who's they snooze in their town all their windows were dark quiet. Snow filled the air. And the who's were all dreaming sweet dreams without care when it came to the little house on the square. This is stop number one. The old grinchey clause est any climbed to the roof. Empty bags his fist then. He slid down the chimney around tight pinch but if santa could do it then socal the grinch he got stuck only once for a moment or two then. He stuck his head out of the fireplace flu where the little who stockings all hung in a row. These stockings grin are the first things to go. Then he slithered and slunk with a smile most unpleasant around the whole route and he took every president. Pop guns bicycles roller-skates drums checkerboards tricycles popcorn plums. And he stuffed them in day than the grinch buried nibley stuff dole the bags one by one then. He slumped to the ice box. He took the who feast. He took a who pudding. He took the roast beast. He cleaned out the icebox. Quick flash way the grinch even took the last can of who hash

"Morning. You hope your old dame well can you hear thumbs so great. Excellent now so again. Yeah hope you're doing well. With the the covert and everythin- and anything else menu lives just a big. Thank you for those of you really help with fundraising that that really has been touching thank you. We really helps us get by through all these difficulties when it's very difficult to raise money so thank you very much and today i wanted to come another case and this is Case twenty eight of the blue cliff record. And one of the reasons i i picked. The self is a little bit like remind us the way that we did a few weeks ago but also this is why nonsense who was the feature in particular call on basically loses adama conversation with another teacher so it just shows you know. You don't win all the time. And it also highlights some of the some other aspects of the teach him so last week basically. We're just talking about that aspect. To wonder of wonders. I o beings the great earth of the wisdom virtue of the awaken one to us. Of course it's The traditional robot hat sued This this This week The seventh beer eight isn't the eighth being. Let's see tuesday. I guess that that way. So it's important to to reflect on the buddha's on the buddha's life and teachings so wonder if one does i o beings the great earth are the wisdom virtue of the awaken to thus snus and what we tend to deal with more importantly as because var upside down views. We've failed to see it. You know usually the grassi's green elsewhere. You know people things have a better time than than we do. That is always better. Better places to practice in the place that i stand so i mean you can fill in. You can really fill in the blank as to why it isn't like say the awaken life for the buddha's life if you wish. So we're we're more dealing with the socal relative aspect of our own lives the set right from the beginning. So can we swallow somebody else's words in many ways Better not to that a to see for ourselves in in whatever way but it's also important not to rely on our own stories quite often the stories we have about ourselves and our our own life not reflective of reality. This reality not that is fixed. This reality is occurring now wherever we no matter what would do and then the thing is can we really take that teach in the comes on a momentary basis or do we want another one. That may become in lighter so anyway i'll bring up the case and obviously it's tied in with what i'm saying right now not mind though. Buddha miss this got no preamble straight into the main case nonsense cooled on masta. Yakusho navan jaka. Joe asked have the sages. Since time immemorial had a teaching they did not tell anybody nonsense said yes yakhio said. What is the teaching. They did not tell anyone role waiting for the answer. Now and he nonsense said it is not mind it is not buddha. It is not a thing k. Jaka joe said you said it. Nonsense said that's all i know. What a what about you jaka joe said. I'm not a great Zen t cherry data. How would i know whether it has been told on out. So he's he's having a bit of fun here now. You got to see how he says that to him though to could be sarcastic could be could be praising any any way like that nonsense said. I don't understand yucky. Oh said. I've already told you too much so The zen master zim buddhis- nev- a helped people harrison. Why are we doing this. Zan masters in buddha's never help people see kaz past and present run as if racing

Erdogan calls on Turks to boycott French products
"Talks president recipe type Erdogan has called for a boycott on French goods as tensions between the two countries rise after President Emmanuel macron called for a French Islam. This follows the beheading of teacher in France after he showed his class caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad published by the Satirical magazine. Charlie. Ever. Let's cross to Istanbul to join the journalist I login Yuck. Leeann also on the line is Philip Malia professor of French and European politics at University College London. Island let's start with you. Why is Turkey so upset? Well the magazine this week published a cover that depicts a caricature of president are due on and suggesting that he's a bit hypocritical about his religious beliefs. He's drinking a can of beer and he's lifting. The skirt of an Islamic garb. So that is Let us set off a firestorm among our close circle They're accusing them accusing the magazine of insulting and have actually sued the magazine for libel. It is a crime in Turkey publishable a punishable by up to four years in prison to insult the president. So that has been the latest twist. In this in the spat, but they've also putting a ban on French goods. That's correct that stems from President Macron's a recent pledges to. Ensure. That Islam does not affect the French way of life and French values describe that as a relaunch of the Crusades an attempt to Spread like cancer the Islamic phobia that already exists in Europe according to Don So there, but the dispute doesn't just start there between Turkey and France on they are at odds over a number of issues including the war in Libya and including the search for hydrocarbons in the eastern Mediterranean as well as the conflict in Nagorno-karabakh. Absolutely, and we'll come back to those in a moment. I just want to bring Felipe here to talk about what my chronic said. I mean he's saying that he's been misquoted. Yes I think that that's what he says and to to be fair in this Ongoing Saga Domestic Saga in France that is around the shaggy bill cartoons the latest of course, the latest terrorist attacked a couple of weeks ago. This teacher who was beheaded in France by terrorists the the trial shall you do are all taking place as we speak, but there's a lot of things going on and to be fair my call has always been has has never been the hotline in this. In this debate about the cartoons is a bit more of a solo rather than. So in a sense, it's been unsound aim to be to be branded suddenly the most Islamophobic person in fraud I don't think used to be fair but the issues for sure it's been misquoted in a sense i. think he said, yes that they were issues with Islam. which probably was a rather undiplomatic way of putting things to wealth stage. I think he's presented essentially the new bill on socal separatism, which is quite controversial in France and probably. Is, yes implicitly targets in the Muslim population in France but it's true that if French I'll probably surprised how at ten suddenly the sued relationships and and how the sort of tension has related between the two countries of late. To. Be Fair that the two men have been at loggerheads for a long time so it seems on the train side. For advil hand, it's almost protects the those at the story of the call tunes because inside the being as your guests. Until you have just said, there's been real geopolitical issues and disputes between the two countries for one now. Yes. Well, I wonder how much of this also has to do with Turkey's domestic politics I mean we know that there's a huge economic crisis is this a diversionary tactic? It certainly helps distract people from the issues surrounding the economy and our one has been accused of using any number of foreign problems to distract his voters This in particular might resonate because the fact that it's religion and this is something that people hold. So close to their hearts on think that people are filing necessarily know every twist and turn. Of the issue. But when they hear of Charlie Hebdo, the satirical magazine, they might recall the images of the Prophet that the magazine published previously and that. Sir. Association. So when are two one talks about insulting Islam that's what comes to mind. Not The fact that published an image of political leader on the cover and so if bob he does have an impact. You know anything to get people's minds off of the fact that the jobless rate is soaring. The currency in Turkey has lost about forty percent of value this year against the dollar There's real economic pain here. So the certainly can help can help change the debate now.

He tweeted out today is pretty good one California in the covert era third worst unemployment in the country fifth worst excess deaths west of the Mississippi biggest backlog of unpaid jobless claims. One of seven states with school closure order, and now the last state to get a vaccine it didn't have to be this way. You see there's the untold stuff about this governor and the way he runs his stadium we were just talking to Lisa smittcamp. Who's the district attorney of Fresno County and boy she laid it out clear that when the agenda is, we don't want anybody in jails and prisons, but we can control the prison. So let's use covid nineteen is a cover to start sending inmates. Atta here it affects the local police forces because they don't have room in the local jails for people that the state and our everyone's so blinded by obedience to the party that newsome represents. That all that stuff it was in Kylie's tweet. Who who, who is, who would say? Wow, that's a good thing. Every single one of those things he listed. "They're not accepting these. Prisoners in your jail because of the virus rules. Correct at one point governor. NEWSOM. Shut down the prison to fifty six of the fifty eight counties and he has slowly started to accept a small number from from individual counties but he is not accepting any from Fresno or so. Prisoners, catch the virus but the domino effect is you have more bad guys on the streets and the and they're killing people. Absolutely jails are like hotels. If people don't check out no one, no one knew can check in. So you have sentenced prisoners who have already been tried and convicted or pled guilty to crimes that are stuck in local jails, and the prisons are not open for them, and that is causing a backlog which in turn than jams up the local jails, which then in turn returns, just more criminals to the street and when you return young active gang members to the street even after you arrest them and you bring them to jail book them, and then they are immediately released because of overcrowding. It empowers them, it encourages them and they go right back out to to repeat the same type of behavior, and if anybody knows anything about gangs retaliation is is a big deal for them. So when you take a hot gang member, who's just committed a gun crime or been caught with a gun or is in the process of of of doing you know robberies with guns and they and they get in and they get out, you know there's just there's just more money havoc that's coming because it empowers. What kind of crimes are they committing where they're getting out right away like how how serious? Well it you know it depends joe classifications are an extremely. Complicated situation. So depending on the geographic location you know of the county in Fresno, we have a very diverse community. So we have all kinds of games. We Have White Gang Slacking Hispanic gangs, Asian, gangs, and when are housed inside the jail they have to be classified because if they don't have conflict when you take that when you take those classification specifications in addition to the to the additional space, they need for Co bid and then you couple it with the fact that the State Department of Corrections, the prisons are not accepting prisoners you. Just have a recipe for disaster that flows out onto the street and innocent people are being shot because the gang see this as a free for all. So my message to the governor is simply just opened up the prisons and do your job like everyone else is doing well, local jails haven't been able to close down the court been closed down the DA's office has haven't closed down the public defenders haven't closed down. So why should the state prisons get to shut down? I think the virus is just a cover for their new progressive ideology. Of course it is and it's it's extremely convenient. You Know Governor Brown started before he left saying that he wanted to undo everything he had done in the nineties and his political views had changed and he wanted to make up for all of his wrong..

So what what do you do? You have a guy with a dud. Personality and he's losing his mind that he may win anyway but you gotTa show something right? You got to create some excitement. It's like, okay. What kind of like fake event can we have a where I felt a parking lot with cars and that'll kind of cool because it'll be different and and then what's the excuses why we didn't get a bigger crowd? Weren't exactly we'd Wacker's but it's it's you know I know you're talking. Aiding. Metal, blade. Hung up against the curb and. Eat Yeah. They care about a neat grass line. A little surprising. The the defecation on the sidewalk. They don't worry about the get edge line. Just right. I was just thinking the other day. It really hasn't been. That much in terms of fire for Orange County in a while I mean they had a couple of fires in the last few years but compared to what happened up in the San Fernando Valley. Yes. The last couple of years in very hard hit. They're very hard hit and I'm seeing that so cal Edison has. A turned out the lights in a number of neighborhoods some Encina valley someone who Rupa Valley some in Grand Terrace. And I don't know what they don't know what they basis on they look at the forecast for the local wind gusts I guess they figure out which areas they must have a big map with their power lines. At repeats. Yeah. I mean at a certain level of wind. They know there's a risk that these lines are GONNA go down because they haven't been maintained in a hundred years I. Don't know when the San Fernando Valley was settled like when was it? Your? Did they install electrical lines for all the developments that was the last year southern California's. Southern. California Edison paid any attention the infrastructure there. What what whatever the first year was that they settled I guess it's a guessing game I. mean this is one of the things I just read before we came on the air up in northern California I mentioned PG turned off power and they talked to one of the quote fire expert guys at some college said Oh. They undoubtedly saved a lot of fires from breaking out last night by doing that. We know we don't know you can't. No you can't go down that road and no I mean. There's no fire you don't know whether or not. That's what made the difference. Odds are you I think they probably have a formula where they know how many fires are GonNa. Start. If you have Senate and a wind event with fifty mile, an hour winds is probably an average number of fires that start every year..

A Little Hack To Make Amazing Ads That Convert
"Alright. So we've seen our spent a Lotta Times creating ads and thinking about like what's the ad hoc where we can get someone's attention and The other day I was swiping through instagram or something and I try attention. What are the things? Get me to stop right where things I read. Look at him. I was looking different things. And that's sort of like a watch. My kids my kids. They're really big into all these. These things that are satisfying will satisfying. This is the thing so satisfying like these weird art things with slime sand or with shredding metal in a metal shredder. Like all these crazy things and I was like Oh man. What if we did these different things and tournament ads right and the other day so I was when instagram search and start searching for like cool art or satisfying or slime or is type in keywords and I started seeing all these different cool art things And I started disliking a bunch of like falling their pages of steps. Then start showing up on my feet and now it's my newsfeed are seeing all these cool crazy aren't things that people do right by drying and All sorts of things but the other day I saw one that caught my attention I watched for men probably a minute straight and it was this guy and he does pancake art and so the cameras above this pancake and he's drawing this pitcher and you're seeing it. It's pretty cool. And then we gets done. He takes it and flips it over and as soon as he flips over pancake you see the finished pancake and now. I watched that I went to watch like probably ten or fifteen of them. My kids and it was so cool. You kinda like always drawing. Elsa is drying whatever sees everything's until he flips the pancake over your exactly what it is and he flips it over and the details looks amazing and It says like Oh my gosh. Look how much this sucked into the into watching this and I watched so many kids them I was like how can I get this to become an ad and I was like a pancake on my face? That's annoying no one wants to see pancake my face on what can you do? What can I do and I was like what if I haven't the pancake of the the book covers of dotcom secrets. Expert Secrets Traffic Secrets and say emailed the the guys on the channel as they. Hey how much it would cost for me to have you. Pancake art my books and it was a couple of hundred bucks per book. It was not not that expensive wired the money and just today I got back three pancake. That were flipped over. Then doing my book and flipping over and they turned out so cool. They're amazing nominate goes tournament a little ads. Youtube ads facebook ads. Instagram is budget variations. Because look at come back to to step number one right. We talk a lot about like Hook Story. Offer hoax story off the hook grabs attention and the story and then the offers. I figure the pancakes the hook right. You're like what does he drawing the boom over while the watching that can tell the story of what's happening with what he's doing why wrote book flips over. It's done and then make the offer from you'll get free copy of the book so I have no idea now if the ads can work if it's not gonNA work because it'd be successful or not successful but I do notice to get hook and it's GonNa be really fun and I'm excited to test it out Especially look at some of the ADS. We make we spend tons of my just my phone but you never know what the hooks going to be the grab. Someone's attention so for a couple hundred bucks to test it. It's it's really exciting so I'm excited for that started. After that I started looking into clean Mesa Google or finding claymation and I've message probably ten different claymation. Artists are making claymation ads and stuff like that. So it's just fun new things. You brought up when he goes to start going to instagram and facebook. Reverend started looking at art but the arts the cool designers look at People. That are doodling sketching. That are doing just whatever. Or they're creating things their hands like just any kind of art that that grabs. Your attention are falling over channels. You can in the more towns you follow them all the moral chopin. Your search results please are seeing all these have been cool cool things and then go reach out to the creators is Hey. Dot added created the image. That was amazing. Pay You whatever. Have you Chris on that for for me my company and like I said for us the pancake art? It was a couple hundred bucks per per book covering the turnout socal and who knows that could be the AD. That's the one that blows up. It's funny because I remember Folks are GONNA work a couple years ago. We had the harm brothers. Do our very first video with them. In turn amazing we loved it. We spent tons of energy and money. We just big launch with big bubble soccer also stuff in the did good he got on a million or so views and it was good And then like a week later Chris. Record Wrap Sunny D. rappers. Quick Funnels Rep and he just made it as as a joke. Essential get red and that and that video actually got more impressions. More views and more cells. Click funnels in this one. We'd spent hundreds of thousands of dollars creating so you never know what the hooks going to be created tons of hooks and try thing after thing after thing after thing just trying to think this is really fun unique way so for my side time embarrassing around like what I'm doing now is looking for artists. Ancient Bugs and the Key to Storing Wind and Solar
"How does this system work yet great question well to start we walked through what looks like a pretty regular office building down some stairs back through some hallways and they took us to this control room so right now we're in the control room that's a nice quiet space we're heading is we're gonNA head out and look at the electrolysers system why do you have to do to set it up we operate the electrolysers system by control doing the power to it so making sure it has power sufficient water flow and then also making sure it is sufficient quality to go into fuel cell cars and then we walked out of the control room into this kind of big cavernous almost like a garage and they're sitting in a class box was step one which is the electrolysers and the size of a stove and has these different pipes coming out of it and next to it this shaking jiggling container of water so we're standing in front of the electrolysers and you can see translucence white tank that is filled with water and that's what we start with we start with the ionized water there is a pump whirling in the background moving through the heart of the system the electrolysers stack the other thing you'll notice is all of the wires going in here at Enron we have a strategic initiative called electrons to molecules the cables you're looking at there's forty eight of them these cables are actually mirrored the other side forty eight cables bringing electricity in very high current three thousand ams thirty five hundred amps of DC power coming in and that half inch stainless steel line so in your mind picture all forty eight wires pluses for eight minuses and then a half inch stainless st line carrying the hydrogen out that is the idea behind electrons to molecules sort of increasing the energy density of a wind and solar farm can adding that to a molecule right now we're doing hydrogen and this is step one of the process then we followed that which is being pumped through another pipeline outside into like a two or three story elevator shaft it's quite small actually and a lot of vowels and instrumentation and wiring and data and the great thing about it is it's actually even though it looks complicated is actually very simple an inside what is the bio reactor that's kind of what the structure is our is water and corrupts these little Arcadia and the cool thing about Arcadia it ferments hydrogen and Co two in the same way that you would almost speed like fermenting a food product like beer and then it produces this methane at does that naturally and so with a little bit of testing and ration- This company called Electro Caja patented and trademarked the Arcadia and has put it on loaner leased to enroll to experiment with and learn about how it can be used for bio gas what does it take to make a bug happy Oh it's actually very simple you just give them co two and hydrogen and some a source of sulfur a source of nitrogen and and are off they go they're very rugged they've been around for a billion years so they know what they're doing we're just trying to do the simple things to make them happen the What exactly are they trying to do here they got it bill are they looking for anything in particular the technology is only as good as it can be scaled or lead to the next thing and so I think they're really trying to understand it's applications and whether it's something that can be used on on a wider scale it is a research intended by reactor a steppingstone to large scale deployment with company he's like socal gas and other utilities that are feeling pressure for consumers or pressure from investors to start decarbonising the literal gas grid much like we've decarbonised slowly using wind and solar for example decarbonising Trinity Grid but yeah they they wanted l. okay if we can do it at this scale and we can do it really well what would it take to do it at a higher scale so it can have other applications let me see if I got this straight the reason why Ron and Kevin and so many others are working on this is because we're facing two pretty big challenges one we've got a lot of wind and solar hitting grids in many cases during windy or sunny periods there's a ton of extra energy being generated which is usually wasted and company he's like socal gas meanwhile are saying how can we clean up the natural gas were sending to homes and businesses so you've got two things happening at once so he here at Enron they're trying to solve that problem and they're taking that excess renewable electricity they're using to make hydrogen then finding Indus- sources of co two and feeding it all two billion year-old microbes then turned it into methane and then Voila Ron's company has renewable gas that can be fed into an existing pipeline yes and they seem confident this is going to happen I mean it is happening and beard ask Ron how he kind of looks up in the sky with dreamy eyes and he'd say absolutely and then you ask Kevin The science guy and he he agrees the idea here is to start with gases which can dissolve into water quickly and that's straightforward you're not breaking down components and then building them back up which some technologies do this is starts with houses so it is a fast reaction the organisms are self replicating and their naturally occurring so if things were to spill for example if we were to have a problem we've essentially spilled some seawater on the ground and we would make sure it's safe and that's what's Nice about this simplicity its vessel it's operating it'll pressures behind you there are hydrogen storage tanks pressurized to thirteen thousand PSI were operating at two hundred fifty it's easier to operate at lower pressures and it's manageable even you know from the side of the dreamer and the side of the scientists they they both believe in this and they have high hopes for for seeing scaled potentially across the country one day
