"It follows new revelations from fired act. Acting FBI director Andrew McCabe who. Now says he briefed lawmakers after the F B I open an investigation into President Trump in twenty seventeen McCabe telling savannah Guthrie that no one pushed back Conrad. Unreal. And I told congress what we had done anyone object. That's the important part here that no one objective, not legal grounds, not on constitutional grounds. And not based on the facts that answer at apparent rebuttal to Republican criticism that top Justice department at FBI officials were plotting an administrative coup. Did you suspect the president might actually be working for Russia? We thought that might be possible. Yes. The president overnight on Twitter accusing McCabe of treason. I don't think really anybody takes those tweets by the president very seriously. I certainly don't at this point. Mckay was fired from the FBI last year accused of lying under oath about his interactions with the media. There you go NBC news report on that story now McCabe, of course, is on a book tour for his new book entitled the threat. He's been making the rounds. It's hard to miss him. But but one of the statements he made that stood out was this last night on CNN. The fact is I like all the men and women in the FBI people across government in the military. I did my job I stood up to the obligations of my office. Presented with facts we made hard decisions decisions that we knew would be tough on the organization would be tough on us. Personally. Look what I've gone through as a result of those decisions, but we did them anyway because we are committed to a responsibilities and serving this country. Do you still believe the president could be a Russian asset? I think it's possible. I think that's why we started our investigation, and I'm really anxious to see where director Miller concludes that I you know, McCabe actually was on Stephen Colbert last night talk about making the rounds. And well, this was part of their conversation has called this. A he let me get this. Right. He wants to investigate potential coup. How did it feel too? In the moment. There's a constitutional coup in a way, but it's a coup. Grams? I think that's a contradiction in of itself. Right. Instructional coup. Yeah. I mean, it was not shrimp. It was not very coolly. And it was it was a mention in the midst of a wide range in conversation. I'm not aware that rod ever took any efforts to pursue that. I don't I'm not aware of any meetings about it or other discussions on it. It was for me really just an indicator of just how frenzied and fraught the situation was that we were in. And those were the kind of things that we're bouncing around the get the Muller proferred for just a moment here. Is there anything in the last two years that makes you less suspicious of the president or is less indicative that he had an improper relationship with the Russians possible collusion conspiracy. No, no. That's the answer. Is there anything that makes you less suspicious? Colbert asked McCabe, and he says, no, stay tuned. There's more coming here. That's a book that you know, is on my list of ones to read if it wouldn't you know, stress me out too much more trouble in paradise Elaine Chao, you know, her. She's a Donald Trump's secretary of transportation. She's also married to Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell. Well, it's now being reported. Then Elaine Chao has met at least ten times with Kentucky business leaders or politicians after Email requests. Made by her husband, the aforementioned Mitch McConnell were unveiled a cache of more than eight hundred emails obtained under the freedom of information act by the watchdog group American oversight shows that some of those meetings led to McConnell's associates being granted their wishes by the powerful transportation secretary from infrastructure grants to highway project funding both offices told politico that it was normal for cabinet members in the Senate majority leader to work together. Austin Evers, the founder of American oversight said the emails show that quote secretary Chao built a political operation in her office to favor Kentucky funny, how that works, isn't it? But nepotism seems to be a requirement in the Trump administration. All right. Speaking about Bernie Sanders, I mentioned in the first twenty four hours of his campaign over two hundred twenty three thousand people individuals contributed five thousand..

"That make your different from the rest of the Republican party in government? I'm not trying to make light of Lawrence. I'm just saying, yes, she's corrupt like the rest of them. Of course. She is why there's no difference. I was gonna say four. This. How has she sold out to Russia, though, that I got the impression maybe I'm wrong. Please correct me if I am I got the impression you were going gonna make the presentation that she has sold out to Russia along with a good for nothing. No my mind. Was mistaken. Sorry. Go ahead. Well, I'll tell you one. Now, let your comfortable. That may threaten his wife being implicated in any crimes. Let's just trace it back. Oh, come to the floor already side. But he was a problem. But here's the problem for you Lawrence Democrats now have the house of Representative and she's in the cabinet now. Right. She's and she the transportation secretary. So the Democrats in the house can can have her basically, they can put a cotton in the back room and say, hey, Madam secretary Chao, you're going to be testifying. We're going to investigate like Benghazi. We're gonna investigate like Hillary's emails. Right. Mitch mcconnell. Can't stop any of that. Yes. But the problem came crafts. Know that they should investigate Chow. I don't mean the laughing Laura signal investigate everybody. Well, let's hope they do. A Ben Carson over at HUD Lawrence. I'm sorry. I think you're making some fundamental mistakes. I do I think you're making some sumptious. I really do. I don't think you quite understand the fervor at the best words the fervor. I don't think you quite I had the best words Lawrence. You know, you're smart, man. You know, how the house is organized, which is this areas of jurisdiction, right? And the transportation department in the executive branch currently that the secretary of transportation, Elaine Chao, but the transportation department has a committee at least one committee that has jurisdiction often is overlapping jurisdiction. And if you're a cabinet agency, if you're a cabinet secretary, you might have two or three committees that you've got to go testify do because they have overlapping jurisdiction, you gotta love politicians. So the house of representatives an independent party. Of the congress. And so Laurence the point is is it Mitch McConnell? Look if Benedict Donald can't cover up his own crimes, which is all department of Justice in his own brand cities and Georgia is investigating. I don't see how Mitch McConnell is going to be able to do it and Lawrence. I guarantee you and this one I'm back in the prediction business every house committee now headed by every democrat is going to investigate every cabinet agency that it has jurisdiction over is just this is how it's done. This is how it's done one triple eight three two one six thousand one Brian. Thanks for being with us in Colorado. Happy new year, Brian. It's been quite some time since we've spoken. Welcome back. Well, I've been listening. I just want you to know. Thank you. I need to preface this by. That bomb it twice, and they voted for Hillary Clinton and. I mentioned this before in Honduras back in the seventies. I'm going with this is to wet food crisis. They want to call it. But the situation where you have so many people primarily from Honduras, El Salvador in Guatemala. Refuge. United states. And a lot of people don't know. And I'm thankful that Donald Trump doesn't know this. The United States relationship with the Central American countries as always been basically. When. River went south his. Government of Honduras. Manual with elected. This is back in two thousand eight or so. What happened was that? He was a bit of a reformer enough of reformers that all averts their decided to. Remember, he famously fled to Costa Rica, pajamas, right PJ's. Right. And. Where Obama and Clinton. Mainly made things so much worse was bad. Most of the Central American and South American countries. Prayed to put as much pressure could. The. I this then Mitch you. Can I ask you? This can ask you this is what is what you're reciting. This is our blowback right? We've done so much adventurism in south and Central America. Nicaragua Venezuela, meet so many times, we've invaded. We've we've changed administrations we've monkey around with their elections. And so we've met with Ronald Reagan and Alexander Haig helped fund the desk squads created Ned fun, or at least funded and supported the death squads in El Salvador. So you're suggesting that all the instability released lot allow the instabilities significant part of it a material part of it, and the refugee crisis that goes along with grinding poverty is because of our adventurism. And and there's blowback there is that it. Yes. And what's disappointing is that Obama? Lesser degree Clinton people that I think. Better. Instincts and motives in general. Situation particularly in Honduras so much worse, but they didn't mind even challenging entrenched power. This is the problem, Brian I and this is my argument with so many Democrats, unfortunately is that they are establishment to the degree where they're not going to bring kind of fundamental meaningful change, Brian. I'm sorry. I have to keep moving as having a little trouble with your phone. This is the technology as it is. But I mean, we got your point. But look I was hoping that we would have a democratic president. That would responsibly was gonna be Hillary, by the way, definitely not Hillary was not going to do what I'm talking about here. But I was hoping we get a democratic president that would responsibly downsize the empire Benedict. Donald is irresponsibly downsizing the empire. So there you go. But Brian, I'm not sure there's so many problems Matthew high in Illinois, Matthew happy new year. I'm happy new year. Thank you. I'm honored. I am. I'm an attorney do civil up with all the. Trampling of the constitution and total ignorance of US law under the Trump administration. I've been doing my own research and beefing up my areas of knowledge outside of what actually practice we'll counselor. I'm glad you called. Thank you. I'm I always love when lawyers call in the airwaves yours. Go ahead. I'm calling about discussion you head about immigration with a gentleman maybe half hour ago. Chris, Chris, there's. Are important nuance in this debate in general. I think a lot of people miss, and I did not hear you address it with all due respect. I'd love to hear you address it, please. Go ahead. So mostly everything you said was right except you can also. And this is what drives Republicans crazy. You can't apply for asylum without going to a port of entry you can cross illegally and then apply for asylum. Once you're in the United States, and that I mean that's by law. But my understanding is that it's also due to international treaties. So very difficult for them to overturn that thinks you're physically here right now. This is what you're saying. Once you physically here. No matter how you got here. You don't have to present yourself at illegally concert port of entry you can illegally cross in in the desert somewhere. Once you physically here, you can say, I'm requesting asylum. Right. Exactly. And so corrected me. Thanks. I understand why Republicans are driven crazy by this to certain degree lease. But that's where they don't know the the old actual legal nuance stages here this, oh, you can come in here. You know, and just apply. You can just come in here. It's open borders. Democrats don't want any restrictions on it. And you know, that's that's obviously not the case. But it does seem like just an important part of the discussion. I think. Hey, this isn't this where Trump talks about catch and release isn't exactly where he's what he's saying is people can cross your ill is their argument. I'm not agreeing with it. But just articulate their point which I think where we're going is Trump says they cross here illegally. They say the magic word asylum. Even though they don't have a bona fide claim to it that because we with takes them forever to get a hearing on that we're not gonna car rate them all this time. And is that court settlement about the kids? So we gotta let them go. So the here in the United States, and they have the time they don't show for the court hearing. And now, we've got open borders. Did you walk ins the magic word asylum? We let you go. And then we never hear from me again until you blow up the World Trade Center is not the argument. Yeah. More or less, and you know to be fair. I don't know what what the solution is. I do think that you know, as much as I can't stand the guy. Do you think Trump's like almost on a legitimate argument there except never presents? It folks. Border, though, why does he focus on where most of the galaxy is which people just overstay their visas? Oh, I mean, it's it's racism xenophobia. I'm not I'm not trying to contest fat. I I like to make sure they won the debates are happening. All the facts are there. There's no doubt that the border wall. And all that it's it's not racist. Yep. Exactly, matthew. I'm really glad you call them honored that it's the first time caller. I'm really glad you're a lawyer. And I'm really glad you corrected me as you did. Because I'm glad that gone out. There needs to get out there and his wind really good lawyers calling and help so Matthew. Unfortunately, the clock is against us as a lawyer civil litigation, you know, all.

"I feel like putting like a black scarf over my head, and and just sort of walking around. There aren't you know, the last week or so I've been Roth. So I I I figured if politically things went the way they feared the federal transit administration that congress has put in charge of making these decisions would in fact issued this rhetoric no prejudice last week. Well, what are what does that mean? The Trump administration gave council about two hundred million dollars on Wednesday. Preconstruction acurity never issued that ladder without funding the whole thing. And if you think about it, it would be major major break. They said, well, you know. Right. You and other a couple of hundred million of your own money, but we're not gonna we're not gonna partner in the project, but we can still hope that can happen, right? There's a chance right. But I. Me, you know, how hard I have stop this training and how many years center is worked on. But here's here's the lead with the good news. Because this is what I want you and your listeners to focus on because honestly, they might be able to help. Everybody can write a letter to secretary Elaine Chao in Washington. The Trump administration said we're going to find this train. It said it over and over and over again telling you that the congress said, oh, yes, you will. Dave not only enough money to fund south where great then some. And they've been getting hammered in Washington by all the cronies who, you know, think about it too Burien plus dollars in Minnesota to spread around where construction companies engineers are attacks. You know bureaucrats? The lobbying's than intense and our side, you know, just doesn't have you know, we can't counter with that. The good news is Congressman Lewis is still in office. Till the end of the year, and he asked the federal transit administration to review the exemption that let's governors appoint. You know, political types political friends to net council rather than having following federal law. You're having elected officials, sit Saddam who are more accountable to you. And me, we are the only. Metropolitan planning organization in the entire country. Does things that way because we're so special here. You like to do things different here. And and and by the raiders about a dozen metropolitan planning organizations that get federal funds. Also in Minnesota that follow federal law on this federal law says we want you to have elected official sitting on these bodies because we think they do a better job of spending the money. You don't end up with boot. You know, as you still end up with boondoggles around the country. Don't get me wrong. But but, but yeah, the planning organizations are got elected officials with a better understanding of what's needed. You know to do things like I mean, what are we trying to do here with over two billion dollars and ten fifteen miles. We're trying to relieve congestion in theory. Right. Well, what would really do that more rain miles? I'm the dam road for sure. Exactly capacity dollar pork pork barrel. You know? Over a hundred million dollars a mile. We can get. Yeah. Just real quick. Here's and there's so many different criticisms that you can use when pushing back against west light rail. I want I want to zero in on one in the middle of when you're laying this out though. Okay. So met council is right here in the story met council member Gail Dorfman, former Hennepin county Commissioner noted that she brought her eleven year old son to one of the first meetings. She attended for the project. She's now thirty and my point on that is whenever we go down a road like this. And I've seen it happen with other projects, especially when it comes to like bonding projects or or transportation projects. Like once you go so far down the line. And we talked about this from the get go like you can't ever pull back. I mean eleven year old son. He's now thirty th the the the way that we travel and the way that we use automobiles and you look at the ride sharing services has fundamentally changed in that twenty years. Span and yet it doesn't matter to them anymore. They've gone so far down the line on this. And they've made so many promises. And and you've got people like tear McLachlan and Gail and other folks Marion vested and they use all their power to make it happen. But but here's what Lewis is doing. And I I do want to encourage your listeners. He said, I think what he's doing. He's saying to the president and secretary Chao. All right. You're fun. Did you funded a boondoggle in Minnesota? I get it. Amy, Cobra shar and Tina Smith and Keith Ellison, all prevailed here and congress. Appropriated the money, and frankly, Representative Paulson did very little to stop it. And it's in his district. Right. So congress congress prevailed over over the agency, and there's some good things about that believe it or not for Jason Lewis is saying the president. Then you damn well better force in that council to follow federal law. We'll make you know, please. As her major. It'd be a major win for us. Frankly, long-haul if what we got out of this is the president saying, okay, they got your train, but we're gonna make council follow federal law. What does that mean to governor? Whether it's Kim walls, or, you know, whoever has, you know, down the line has to will point really solid elected officials from the communities that are affected by these things. Get better decisions get made otherwise you can't have federal transit money. That's what federal law says. And we've been operating under an exemption for decades. And what is it produced? People are sitting in their cars rate now listening, you're stuck in traffic produced an impressive transportation system and the met council been in charge. This whole time. We're frankly, really, you know. Oh, really incompetent people and it's a staff driven agency. And they're very committed to the twenty forty long-term plan that has all of us biking, and and taking trains instead of a really good bus transit system and really good roads. Because it's a religion for them. Yeah. Yeah. Career region, they Goebel warming and the whole green thing is religion for them. I guarantee regaled dourson and drive your car every day. And so I know Peter McLachlan it makes a big show taken the train, but here and there, but you know, most people don't have time to take their trains because it takes like an hour on minimum to just go from point to point being still have to get to the train and somehow and then get to where you're going wants to train stop. So these your elite very in charge. But let's hope and write a letter to secretary Chao all of you can look her up. She's in Washington state. Please forcing that council to live by the same federal rule that all other MTO's metropolitan planning organizations live by in the United in the entire United States. Is that happens? If you had a huge congestion problem if that does indeed happen, and we are able to get the met council to fall in line with the with federal law and. Does that give you any renewed optimism when it comes specifically to south west light rail or now has the southwest light rail ship sailed. I think the train has left the station. We could stay with the train metaphor. Yeah. I really do. There's a part of me that gets agree full thriller. The idea that. The administration would say sure, you can spend the money county and net counsel. And you know, we've never not funded it, and then say rarely changed our minds. We always said, we weren't gonna find this train, and we're not going to and that would leave Hennepin county holding the bag it's already spent about three hundred million dollars. And and then it's going to be spending either, you know, so it'd be like it'd be like five hundred million in and and you know, it would be sunk costs, and they'd have to decide what it ever an adult it on your own. I'll tell you that would bring everything to a screeching halt. I don't see that happening. So don't get excited about it. Excited about the idea, especially if your husband county resonant 'cause that's that's a five hundred million dollar loss. Essentially do get excited about the idea that we could ask the president to stop exempting council from federal rules and who's supposed to sit on the net council, and and that would be a big win long-haul because you get really good people. I don't care if they're Democrats Republicans, whatever they know. No, they're they know the the local area better than my Representative on the met council's a union hack name Jennifer month, and and she doesn't represent us at all on there. And and I even have been told bay from the commissioners that they never read any of their materials. They don't understand. Stay on them. And they just do with the staff. Tell me I've actually had them told me that. Well, getting excited it's not the right word. But I do I am thankful that we still do have the power to push back on all this stuff. And and and that's very important. I in my opinion, it's going to be very important that once this continues with the south west light rail to move forward that we have voices like yourself our voices to push back and continue to show the money that will be wasted. This Minneapolis twenty forty comprehensive plan. There's an article in the Star Tribune talking about likely to pass the December seven city council meeting. But you read the story in the whole story is riddled with the council members talking about all the parts of it that they don't like. But how they're still going to move forward and vote and vote on it. And all that we're going to be able to do is make sure that we craft a good argument as to why vs progressive ideas, and plans that are being pushed forward are not working the way they said they were going to and why there is a better path. Right. And remember too that the Republican legislature and thinking it's two years ago now, but it might have just been last year shifted money from the general fund into transportation, they fully adopted the centers blueprints, and even and then improved on it. So we have a lot of new revenues flowing into transportation that supposed to be used for roads roads roads. So the theory's good news stare the legislature. Did a good job it gets to to. Yeah. Two sessions back 'cause Dayton signed it is law. And so you have you have like when you go and buy stuff auto related the sales taxes now going much more towards roads. And it was before and your should be new money and good news. Good news to things that get done over the last couple of years. But yeah to sum it up. You know, I I think what we have is a train that is definitely poised to leave the station. They'll be major construction hassles by the way, or it's going to be offered. But the good news is Kim in about. I don't know twelve years. We might be able to ride that train. Well, dwell fourteen years two billion dollars later on the homeless will have more places to hang out. That's right. Yeah. It keeping keeping and again, it's about ten million dollars a mile to build roads and over one hundred millions of miles to put in light rail. And in one of the things that there's project does not do set aside any money to replace this part of the system on this train when it starts to break down. And you know, starting in fifteen to twenty twenty five years the whole thing has to placed in twenty five to thirty years. It's so dumb. It's really really stupid. Too dumb. Dumb. Let's let's be optimistic and health.
