Yeah, I've been thinking of I have a couple of different interfaces that I use them but one's just better than the other and I want to have like one that is just for computer work stream stuff one that is dead just for music stuff, but just between space and everything else. I've been just racking my brain of how to make everything work and how to make everything fit. But yeah, we we could We've tried what's on the stream. We could upgrade our Mike situation. If we wanted. It's just going to lead to a bit of a pain in the ass of us. It's yeah, it's I'm willing to pay the money. "You know a lot of the scenes that we did in the last couple of shows. The thing that I want to mention about it too is that none of it should've worked you know first of all, you calling the show Shits Creek. That was not you know what that that didn't help. You know that there was like we were fighting an uphill battle on that one from the. From the networks. to give promoting it where nobody could say it and and and yet it had to be the title inside you know pop td. At that let you all be freer with what you were doing than. If you immediately, we're working for network who would say no, no, Oh yes. Oh, absolutely because what happened with us there was they CBC honestly gave carte-blanche. They there was no. We never never had to go through notes with CBC. They they approved everything that they got and by the time. Outlines scripts and cuts got to the CBC. We knew they were as good as could be there really nothing to pick at here. And they got that as well they they did get mad. They said, you know what? This is fine. Go ahead and for six years we were able to do the show. The way we wanted to do it. Could you do that now on a on a any of the US networks? I don't think so. Did you keep anything Eugene. From this from the set. I kept a A, Menu. From the cafe trump Akao. Which I have there. I can grab I. I and I kept a picture of the rose. Family. that was in our motel room. On the little nights were little table that was in the room what I wanted. First and foremost was the bell. That was in the Motel Office that was on the the reception desk right at never worked when you hit it, it didn't rain. But when I went to get it after we wrap that set. Somebody had taken it. I. Don't know why. Anybody would have wanted a bell that doesn't work. Will you did? But even an an and I did. But what? Else, what I'm the guy that kept saying that didn't work. Yet. So anyway. But that's That's what I got. The menus were I call them the you know the fifth member of the Rose Family as. Their menus were one of the greatest creations. It's strange to think of the beginnings of this show now that we're all living in this pandemic. and. You guys coming from wealth living in this crummy. Motel. In a couple of rooms. Up with each other in that world. Prophetic. It's very, it is honestly I never quite. Put back together until you just said it in a way, it was like a quarantine we were. Living together for six years in that in that. In that space and the funny thing was. When we conceived of the family living in that motel that this would be the main set, a motel room or to motoo motel rooms. We thought Oh. Man. What are we doing here? This is a is this going to hold up for an entire season. Living. In the same room I mean this, this could be a terrible mistake. And at the end of the series. It. We were all sobbing when we.

Will the irony here is that just when all this love is coming your way you and your son Dan decided no this the end now. That's a too much good thing. Now can't have too much of a good thing. Yeah. It was boy was actually the right you know in hindsight it was it was really the right decision because you know had we decided to go in and do another season been royally screwed this year. It would have been bad I would call that a bad scene. and Now it ended when it should have ended. It was just you know everything just kind of made sense every story line you know completed itself in just a beautiful way and you know it's logic that has nothing to do with television and the entertainment industry. So it ended at just the right time you know go out when the going's good each year in each season, it just got better and funnier and more real and it just detached it's up to our hard well It it I well that you know I get a lot of credit to my son. Dan I mean he really did a masterful job. Guiding this thing to its final destination you know we started the show. in the intention was to make a great character comedy. You know when he came to me with the idea, he said, you know I want the same sensibility as you know, you and Chris Guests had in your movies -Ly character work keeping it kind of real and grounded. And I said well You've come to the right guy because that's that's all I believe in and that's all I. Know and that's that's all I do get your laps through character and and and do everything you can to make. The characters as credible as possible you want to get to a point where your audience has an emotional investment in the character and if that happens. Then you know you can just take them on a a lovely kinda joyride through laughs and tears and everything else you can take many. Right and then as the seasons kind of progress once we got the fish out of water scenario. Out of the way in the first season and realize that they are going to be there for a while the Rose family then the focus was on relationships. And character, and we could settle for a bed without moving necessarily too much story but the fact is, yes, you and your son Dan Co created this you know in that spirit, but he was the show runner young. Was He. Scary. was He demanding with what goes on when you're the show runner? We hear stories by the mind by the time by the time. I. I handed the reins over to him which was I think the beginning of the third season. I listen I could tell. in the in the room and I was in the writer's room for the first To. Two. HL contract expires so if the server is give him a qualifying offer this summer according to Paul that would cover the next three seasons the two years in Russia and then the year where you would be eligible to return to the NHL so in that light the servers will for sure give him a qualifying offer which they know he's not gonna take because he's playing in the KHL but that would they would retain his rights for three seasons I already settled that what did you say that but when I got out when my when I when I started when I that's what I was saying when we cut out yeah exactly reading from you his fault he did all of them say that yeah Marty he did not say anything what are his agent message me correctly source warns pilots agents are just joking our list and we got to go to break we have calls on the line we have a request from the great blue gaining right lieutenant a loyal listener he's a loyal listener we love our loyal listeners we love all our listeners but the great Houdini has.

So let's give you gene. Levy's son his own TV series. We let him direct and star and write and executive produce and do everything else he was and just assume that he knows what he is doing because he is Eugene. Levy's son this guy's first and foremost furious about nepotism this might be g levies other son of another son just because he's Eugene Levy's firstborn son. "Because you don't know anything about it so finish up with their character. Roundup here so we have our town council members that sort of goes away after a little while. Maybe they didn't want to go for like a parks and rec try with more on the town council up but we have Bob who is the very aloof garage owner. We have Ronnie know the very just dry personality and of course we have ray who sort of a man who just wears a bunch of hats. Do you have any thoughts on any of these three characters? The moment win was funny to me. I like the line in the finale when he was like we can use the garage. The parking we just need one spot for Gwen. Obviously Tragic Larry. Yeah the the sad sack Bob stuff was like it's that felt a bit like punching down but it was still fun to watch him like you know when Roland and Johnny. We're trying to simulate like asking this girl out all Roland could use for fake names was like Gwen and Joe and Ronnie and this is my friend. Gwen was just like classic Roland. All I need to do honestly is just see John Hemp. He'll do his little like weird walk slash run as Bob. He likes swings his arms around. That's again like a weird physical choice for character but it's something that's burned into my mind a good way. Yeah and both Ronnie and Rae really works for me. Ronnie's rivalry with Patrick also re brought up in. This nahles very underrated hate each other. Patrick so unhittable. It's very funny to me and raise also relationship especially with Patrick and David when they live there and like the reason photo shoot stuff is all right like ray is very much that character who is just like the feels in every other role of the whole town which is kind of like a tried and tested trusted. Sitcom truck but it works me. Yeah so let's move on here because as we sorta round up the characters. We talked a bit about the finale and you spoke about this a bit so obviously the season six on their own terms but if we were granted the opportunity for a season seven Shits Creek. Let your imagination run. Wild Cheers Shannon. What do you think that consist of? I feel like I couldn't watch Johnny in particular. Keep losing working boobs garage. He's had his losses. He's had a number of hot breaks within the last few years and as I said unfortunately whilst creek has been so great for the family does indicate represent johnny particular professional failures. So I think that him getting a win that he did get. The end of the season was really necessary. The only thing I could think calls for them for doing season seven would be kind of slowed down that momentum and have a season where like okay. Johnny has had a win. But he's Starting the empire from Shits Creek when Moore is maybe having more roles Your David Day anyway but Alexis continuing a PR thing from the town. I think it's difficult is like they would. They were starting to tread water. They were very much meddling in their failures as much as stave to motel rooms in Shits Creek. That failing like that's not excess. Obviously Dave is GONNA have to move out with past Alexis at a point even if its Interests Creek has getting her in place like seems have going to have to start changing so I think like your mileage may vary on how much you think that season could have happened with them still evolving maybe to a lesser degree but changing within that. Getting a new place. There are storyline about them. Not Living together like those four would have had to say and do you think that we could have seen a storyline where things are changing. Were not anchored in the motel being where they live. The show looks different. But it's still obviously inches creek because it would have to Bijou Creek. And the revolving will slowly without that momentum but we can carry it on for like a slow loss season all right. Let me let me pitch something to you. So let's say like season seven comes back in like twenty twenty five and let's say that Patrick and David are having a big five year anniversary. Blowout in honor of their wedding anniversary. So like miren. Johnny come in and Alexis comes in and so that's sort of his like maybe the whole season takes place over the week or something that. I've seen that much and did not go then. So maybe it's sort of like a shorter episode first off seasons in a movie it's perfect. It could be a movie like a reunion thing like they come back into the town maybe it would feel more like an epilogue than like an outright season. You know it almost feels like they did this wet hot American summer like ten years later where they sort of like brought the characters back and then decided to create a whacky sequel to whatever stuff they had created beforehand like. It's just tough because they ended things on such a pertinent note. I even love the final shot of them painting back to the side and I was waiting. See that sign because I will admit as someone with a crude sense of humor that Simon was a big lift for me in those early episodes of of. Don't worry it's his sister. Sign with the Shit's creek. Where you know everyone can fit in I I liked that but I loved putting the Rose family in there as well as you have just a beautiful representation and it just feels like we don't need that addition but if we had to it would have to be back in the town but you'd have to get everybody back there like. I'd let's not pull ugly here. Let's not do a season where they're all in separate locations. That feels. That would be terrible. I mean it's not even separate locations they have to be in Shits Creek. Like that's the hijacked soul of the show. Yeah it's a really tough. On the momentum very rapidly sped up then joining made the deal and now the next episode is like moving. And it's like this was moving very very quickly but I feel like that would almost dead. That made sense. I mean I guess that if you make like a huge deal like that the momentum will ramp up things will change they do get a version of ending. I don't think the stories Aruba because as I said I think these living breathing characters and I'm interested in where this will go so there's a lot of questions I have Patrick. David where does that go? We've seen Patrick have some interest in having a kid. Is that something David we WANNA do. I'd be very interested. In that. Storyline which obviously often marriage is a very common Sitcom storyline. Alexis with a new sign independence of professional success. Now that she intended way she go. Maura on Sunrise Bay. That storyline writes itself. Johnny I WanNa see what he goes now that he has a win. I'm interested in early storylines and I want the characters to be happy and I want to know what was happening with them but I do feel like the not destroy lines of this show if we have a movie five years down the track will like an extended episode reunion. What happened? I really WanNa know what happened. But I do think that the season starts with them getting into the town because they've lost their money the series in the series software that the series ends with them getting out a state so choose to that was the objective of the show and we lose it a little bit because we know that they love. They ended up loving the town. It ends up being good for them. But at the end of the day they went there against their. Will they been trying this entire time to get out again if they so choose Fixed David as a character that he didn't want that in that he stayed but for the series did need to end with them getting out. The only thing that I think is like maybe could have had another season. Where they're getting out is just a slow thing and they move up more like a ladder like little steps. Instead of dislike launching themselves out in the penultimate episode off the getting the deal in the episode before but I think the momentum kind of worked and I think that it would have felt a little bit like treading water every donohoe. Other season of getting little wins. Because I can't fail anymore but not actually move on from the town. That's how you get how I met your mother's final season this idea of like okay. We got this five seasons of how much we have this one big moment and we're going to make lake a big event around it like again. I love the fact that this finale was about David's wedding but that was the only thing right that I mean the entire thirteen episodes for them to get married sometime case. Regular sitcoms like two or three seasons I will also say more fanfare on my life human wedding than on the TV wedding as much. And I loved it because it was small and beautiful. We didn't even get to see like the reception actually would have liked to see more from the wedding but again it was like the small beautiful moment without it. Being like Haas of the season is about David Patrick's wedding which is where many sitcoms have gone. In the right. They probably would have gone back to much barn concern. It's no longer occupied and probably party wanted to see that. Yeah I it was interesting. I felt a lot of obviously personal residents to the show and it just so happened to end on the fact that you know David Patrick's wearing a wedding day it's rained out. And you know my wedding day had a profuse amount of rain as well. Luckily we did have a tent. We did not go for the woodfire means oven so we were able to modify nicely. But I don't know that that's one of those things where we all the time on down the Hash. That lost finds you where you are at this show sort of found me where I was at this point of Lake also helped me with my own personal struggles of looking at the way that David. Protest that situation in particular of like finding perfection in the imperfections and realizing that. What you've got is often better than what you had expected and looking back on those moments realize. I learned those lessons myself. And it makes you appreciate those characters more because like you said. It's realistic lessons that they're learning albeit through maybe more ridiculous clothing and weirdly. Y-you know ancient words in the case of moir arose but they are still grounded life lessons that anyone can learn in this day and age. Yeah the catches had no right to be relatable as they were and it's funny. How much like they they could be cartoon characters and I do have that element but you know with so many things like this. This reminds me of that quality of someone that I know like..

Farewell to ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ a delightful show ending at the most unfortunate time

"This sitcom Schitt's creek ended last night after six seasons now most good TV shows have fans but shit's creek fans are on another level here's Glen Weldon of NPR's pop culture happy hour podcast look no spoilers shit's creek airs on pop TV here in the states but it didn't become the phenomenon it has until people found it early seasons on Netflix the sixth and final season that concluded last night hasn't hit Netflix yet so we'll be careful here because this shows fans are hard core they dress up as their favorite characters they make YouTube super cuts of their catch phrases I don't think that you'll feel you feel devalued last year they feel four thousand seat theaters just to watch it stars sit and talk about it in a live show the toward the states she plays my best friend Stevie bottom it might seem odd that people get so rapidly excited about a show that some small so gentle so Canadian but it's a that gentleness the way allows its characters to grow into slightly better versions of themselves the people follow up with certainly the show's set up wasn't unique your basic fish out of water story a rich family loses everything and is forced to move to the only remaining assets you bought a small town in nineteen ninety one Johnny yes I bought that is a joke for my son we actually purchased that town they want up living in a run down motel David the brutal condescending son played by co creator Dan levy began his new life in church creek by snapping at Stevie the motel clerk I have asked you thrice now for a towel so that I only wash this town off my body but then gradually something happened David met and fell in love with the local Patrick a sweet closeted businessman their relationship was depicted matter of factly because shit's creek was set in a world without homophobia in a behind the scenes special airing after last night's finale levy said he set out to depict a quick relationship on marked by tragedy or struggle when someone who has opposing beliefs sits down in front of their TV and watches we're not teaching them a lesson we're showing them what life could be like the David Patrick collision chip is one reason the show has been so embraced by the queer community but it's not the only one ladies and gentleman Catherine o'hara in the lease of the picturesque ridge lies a small unpretentious winery one that pampers its fruit like its own babies Hey I'm my referrals yes family matriarch more row faded celebrity fruit wine spokesperson wearer of wings as hats gay icon with a universal appeal I know we said no spoilers but the show's creators have made no secret about the fact that shit's creek concludes with a wedding and some tearful departures for six seasons it was a series of manager show its main character staying true to who they were even as they developed new layers of empathy and maintain their sense of self awareness the kept things from getting too syrupy like the time David and Stevie that motel clerk he yelled at an episode one but then grew close to as the series progressed confessed that neither of them had a best friend before this would be a really sweet moment if what we had just admitted to each other wasn't so sad actually it's both sweet and sad like the legacy that shit's creek leaves
