"Season. Look what he did. Last season with limited spending apart terrible office of line in defense was trash. That's his five so that no problems are russell wilson. So i his fault. I get you but i saw that downfall coming. He was not going to maintain drew the whole asia. So it's not gonna happen. But he was in league quarterback russell wilson. Russell wasn't hasn't been to a conference finals at conference finals gotten paid. So you'll miss me arizona. Alesina why are you using the argument. Russell wilson lamar jackson. My point is lamar jackson. It's been to two divisional cup. Division of playoff series in. Back to back years bro. You just can't take it away an out of autos quarterbacks other than tom brady patrick. Mahomes the only person on that list with an elite trait absolutely is lamar jackson. His running a bit normal. Patrick mahomes to say. Tom brady has a league quality. Yeah aaron rodgers house rest got it and then what is it telling what passing his way. Our elite low. I'll go to you owes to piss compared to tom brady compared to patrick mahomes. We don't think about russell. Wilson passing like those. We don't grow okay so you watch football. I can make some money to those to see me. Equality don't get listen. Everybody can't be elite bro. We can't like quarterbacks. Everybody was about the point. Is this if we're going to make a perfect quarterback this rulemaking a perfect quarterback the arm tower. We're gonna give to patrick. Mahomes the brain town. We're going to get to tom. Brady beedon the legs and the feet who were given to allergy say lamar whereas russell wilson in this body this even say combat. What were we talking about here. But league okay. So may i point russell russell russell wilson to me is the perfect combination of arm talent talent. That's the perfect combination. Matter of fact. Lamar jackson would hope to achieve where to get a. That's what i'm saying. Because what has he achieved is my point. He's got russell wilson. He's gone to one super bowl to exactly terrain exception. He can. he has a super bowl ring. Yes but we talked about this already. Has one two okay era. has it wants to rain. russell. Wilson has one. Besides tom brady the all have one in my point is i've said for years. They're all those two players. Those specific players are overrated. I've said that for years eight. So let's take down it. No that'd be. The ride is overrated. He has in terms of his talent. We break down all these leak. Parts of a quarterback. His feet are the most electrifying feet of a quarterback yet. Not come on man. He's passed by quick. Pass my husband recovery. Michael vick debatably possibly even better than my co. yeah natively if no you have elite feet. His arm talent. He has great arm talent right but in terms of just once again when we think about quarterback about taking away his running ability because that's part of what he is. I'm calling me running quarterback. He's a quarterback but in terms of using his arm to complete the to complement the rest of his game. That part is still lacking right. Whether it's because you don't have the talent or whether that's just the way the office designed whether he's just not good enough at us but we just don't know that it's inconclusive or even underrated to me. One plus one equals. What at this point is either inconclusive or overall the guy's underrated quarterback to me. You can probably say overrated. If you want to talk about if you wanna give more put more onto its feet right. Yeah but it hasn't given us enough for me where we can really debate that issue and really give him a confirmed answer is once again some towns around him and let's see if we can kind of move the game and it. Is that a smart thing to kind of change. Change the game plan from his from his feet that he has with a so electrifying that is elite and make them start throwing the ball right. So that's why that becomes an underrated aspect for me. Yeah so no one's taken away the fact that the guy's an amazing run you haven't been able to stop that but there will come a time. Where only one team once. One team does successfully other teams are going to follow suit now. He's going before this situation where he asked if he can throw the ball. The way michael vick threw the ball when he was playing for the for the for the eagles. Oh oh this is going to be in trouble absolutely. There's no you'll be in trouble if throw the ball like russell wilson. Oh this is going to be in trouble because what's going to last longer the arm or the leg but we know that part. I know i'm see that's that's where you're trying to get me. I said coming into next season. Okay not thirty years. When i'm thirty five years just next season. I think so people were here this is. This is really hate russell wilson. That's not the point but the point is you guys. Everybody likes to go go ahead. I'm sorry but i think let's just put it differently. Let's just kind of this is talk about elite. Less liu says maddin reading right. So you have patrick mahomes. He's going to be the highest rated quarterback news number one. Because tom brady one. You'll be the highest rated quarterback. Tom brady the air raji. Russell wilson russell. Wilson era is not gonna be rated damage differently even though you say Qualities he's not gonna be really that much differently. They're they're and they're not men than right to say. I mean even if you don't think he's an equality is sounds like you're poo pooing on him because there's because he's up there that lamar jackson not that far away from those four. I think what it comes. Down to with russell wilson in particular him and aaron rodgers. They got super bowls when they were younger. Quarterbacks and you have to look into that because it does play a factor into it if he was so great if you will so elite he would at least gotten to another super bowl. You think my last season but what was the moniker last season. Let russ cook and they didn't cook. What is beta lane out. There's a lot that goes into that. I think you're putting too much emphasis on championships right now. Because they're hard is hail to get there. L. quarterback gets a conference championship games. But that doesn't make you got. Football's ultimate team sport correct. We just mentioned why receivers when it comes to lamar jackson if he had a certain amount of wide receivers with them. Maybe we'll able to showcase his passing ability. And we look at a quarterback dan marino. He want to one and they went to another one ever again. But it's one of the greatest exhaust had elite on talent off the chain. Keep in mind though that. Nfc's beast russell wilson. Yeah he had been. There said he'd been back to championship game since rajini better championship get well. Who's been stopping him. When you had the likes of you've.

"I just walked down the hall and guess what they saw. What did you see Fred? The sun. The sun is out. That's nice. You don't see that a lot of that this the last couple days sin a couple couple days, but you don't want this spring has been okay. So far was leaving in a week or so ago. "Tyler is the founder of Go long tv dot com. You can follow him on Twitter. It's ATS Hae done and done is spelled D u N N E Tyler, What's up, bro? How are you? A pleasure to be here, man doing great. How about yourself Very day. Listen very well lot going on draft coming up here less than three weeks. Let me ask you about this. The start of San Francisco. As I was reading your cycle on TV dot com and I agree with you. They've really put a lot of pressure on themselves by trading up the three now to pick the right guy, right? And if I don't know if I believe this or not, I don't know why there would be misinformation put out there. But how do you make a trade? If you're unsure of the quarterback that you're gonna trade up and get least according to reports, the coach likes one player. The GM might like another. I would think if you're trading two first round draft picks, and really, what you're doing is this is the guy you're giving the keys to for the next 45 years at the very least. Um, that you would have a consensus guy that you're trading up for? What's your opinion on what on the situation is going on in San Francisco? No doubt. I mean by moving up like they did giving up what they did. I don't care what the hippo to be Garoppolo. The press conferences, days and in San Francisco are numbered, if not completely over as we talked right now, because I mean, you're taking a quarterback at three. You're expecting that quarterback to be the face of your franchise. And if there is, you know, disagreement behind the scenes like I'm sure there is. You know it with any big decision at the top of the draft, but, um, yeah, it magnifies with this decision because of what they gave up. Make no mistake about it. This is Kyle Shanahan show like they can assist. Sit there and say that we reach collaborative decisions. Let's not forget who was there first. It was Shanahan. Let's not forget that He wanted this power. He wanted this control, and I've talked to ah sources with others that had interviewed Kyle Shanahan as he was coming up. You know, like Somebody with a bit of it. You know, in a bad way. I mean, this is a coach that has always kind of known with what he has wanted in this league, and he wanted control. We're willing to get in that control. Now. Those seems a sense gone through coaches that they fired so they probably should hire them. You know, you're right. Let's play caller is a good designer all that, but you know, he wants to be the man in charge, so I would think it's gonna be his call. And let's not forget that even though we could make excuses all day with injuries and whatnot. 1935 is a head coach. So it's time for him to win. He has to nail this decision. If he doesn't it's time for us to stop calling him a genius. Yeah, I agree with you. So is it not Jones? You think I think I'm sorry? Go ahead. No. Did you think it's Mack Jones? I mean, I don't think And even when they made the trade and some people put out there I know Christians had said it was very close with with Kyle Shanahan that Mack Jones is his kind of quarterback. But still, I mean, No one expected Matt Jones to be the third pick of the draft even 34 weeks ago. Now it seems like a lot of people think he's going to be. Right. And you're right Christians and Collison hand or, like best friends, So I would think he has a pretty good intel. There. Thank you. It is everywhere. Everybody's saying that it's going to be Mack Jones. So if they don't take Mack Jones, it would be one of the biggest lies. Ruse is whatever you want to call it that we've seen in the draft history. It doesn't make sense, And it makes sense in that. Hot and this is why there's more so much pressure on Shanahan. He wants his quarterback to be an extension. He doesn't want a quarterback out. They're improvising, working outside the confines of the scheme, you know, dodging guys left and right and gunning it across his body into double coverage, and I get it like his own team was Lit up by guys like Josh Allen, like Russell Wilson, like Tyler Murray, So you could say, Well, how she and I had a front row seat to that kind of quarterback. Why not take a chance on it? Justin Fields, but but he wants the quarterback to just complete the past. You know, hit Emmanuel Sanders this year's downfield to win the Super Bowl because he thinks he can find the perfect play call for the perfect situation. He's pouring hours upon hours into this all. And maybe Mack Jones is that guy? I mean, he is somebody who threw for 41 touchdowns and only four picks at Alabama. Nothing pops physically. Nothing pops athletically. But in He's that extension of the play call. It seems like they're drafting a system quarterback with the third overall pick. Exactly which is which would seem crazy to all of us agree like I think it You take a chance on on a physical straight that pops on a Josh Alan. Right arm? I mean, I was completing. What? 48 50% of his passes in college. You saw something special? What special about that? Jones? I don't know. No, I don't. Tyler John, founder of Go Long T T com. Check him out. All right, so let's move to Atlanta. Then we'll move on. So that's to me. When the draft early starts, I think it be a mistake. Now, if they don't like the quarterbacks are gonna be left. I don't like the quarterback's gonna be left and they shouldn't draft them. But it seems like to me they just want to see Matt Ryan for another year two and kind of build the team first. And then get your quarterback next. You know, I don't think that Ryan's gonna be in above average quarterback in this league anymore. Maybe outside of stats and garbage stats. But what do you think they do it for? What would be the proper move there for you? Yeah. I mean, I'm terrified that I had put I would put my trust into whatever decision he makes. That was just a fantastic higher by Atlanta. I mean, Had a lot of things in New Orleans, and it was behind a lot of those exceptional draft picks over the last 5 10 years, So it's just great to see him get this opportunity. Her that he's really been agonizing over this decision. You have a shot at a quarterback Do you take Justin feels he was from, you know not too far away. I'm sure yourself your ticket's your quarterback. And have you reference.

"Then if Sam Donald becomes a really good quarterback with the Panthers, and that's really going to be all you need to know about the Jets. Look, he had a scout's ingrate of 94 during his NFL draft here in the last five drafts, the only quarterback with a higher scouts ingrate is Trevor Laurence. So either the scouts were wrong or the Jets are bad. So we'll find out what happened. But is this carousel done? Are we done until the draft Now is this over? I'm curious on what's gonna happen in a dish on Watson. Situation, and I know we'll get to it at some point and later in the show, But that's that's the one I'm curious about. Um, Russell Wilson. I mean, is he really Is he gonna stay in Seattle? Can it can Amen. Fix fences on everything up there in Seattle? Um, I say the carousel is definitely slowing down. You know it was you It was moving quickly, You know, monthly going to start with Carson wins, but it is definitely slowing down when it comes to all the quarterbacks and the moves coming about because teams trying to set in, we got we have the draft coming up in less than three weeks. They're focusing on getting their next franchise quarterback, not getting a quarterback off another roster. Two weeks from this Thursday, April 29th right April 29th Thursday. The NFL draft begins, and it's one of those things that's not general of ski tweeting this out, he said. Three teams I could see shocking us and drafting a quarterback and round one or early round two, like Green Bay did last year with Love. And like the Bills did a few years ago, like Kansas City did a few years ago. Patch Mom. He lists Minnesota Seattle in New Orleans. Seattle wouldn't be surprising simply because of all the smoke. We've seen there with Russell Wilson that if things don't get better over the next year, who the heck knows what's gonna happen after that? Minnesota. Kirk Cousins, New Orleans With the retirement of Drew Brees, and outside they're gonna be James Twister Taste mill competing for that job. I don't know if you throw another quarterback in that mix there. To me. That would be a almost okay. I'm not entirely sure what we have with Winston Hill. So let's draft another one who could be the quarterback of the future. You can never have too much quarterback depth. I get all of that. But of those three Minnesota Seattle, New Orleans that Orlovsky lists. Who would you be? Who you think most likely picks a quarterback early in the draft? I'm gonna go in Minnesota. I think You know the Kirk cousin Kirk cousins of the solid quarterback, but to say he's that franchise quarterback and he's going to be that guy who can get the Vikings. Hopefully, a Super Bowl. I'm not going with Kirk cousins in this situation. I'm hopeful that things were cleaned up and And Seattle. Russell Wilson. Yes, I have ties to the Pacific Northwest. So that's just my own me being selfish in this situation. Um, I'm rooting for Jamie's Winston, the turn it around the former number one overall pick to get it going and say, OK, he can hear you know from what happened in Tampa, where he was doing, throwing interceptions left and right. That he did that Sean Payton. We'll get him going in the right path. But Kirk Cousins of 32 years old, Um, the Vikings gave him all that money and what do you have to show for it? Not a whole lot. So I think I think Minnesota is the one. If I may say, team's gonna take a quarterback and say, OK, the heat is on Kirk cousins. Officially, they're gonna be that squad. He had a three year $84 million contract with the Vikings and 2018 with a two year $66 million extension added in 2020. That extension included a $35 million base salary for 2022 that became fully guaranteed just three weeks ago. "He wants to march face, which makes sense. I mean, they had a lot of success together. He knows how good chases guys like Greg Cosell, you here on Fox Sports Radio. It cut with Colin Coward and others have said, Look, he's the best wide receiver in this draft. He's got all world potential. We know a good Jamaar chases. The question is The Bangles. Listen to their second year quarterback coming off an injury, or do they say, Hey, we got other ideas. Could have used another weapon. Sure he could use another weapon. They like Carl Lawson go on defense, and they got Hendrix and I think that's a step in the wrong direction. Not the Hendrickson is a complete scrub. But Carl Lawson seemed to be really rounding into form and I don't think they got better there. Don't even think it was lateral. I think they got worse Hendricks and got paid really off of one good season. But that's not even where I'm looking at. I just mentioned that to talk about where the Bangles find themselves. Joe Burrow is going to be coming off a pretty bad injury. If we recall they were going to the playoffs. You had seen enough to know he was your future. I at one time joked and then was more serious. Hey, take him off the field for the rest of the year. You know, he's the guy, but you don't have anybody protecting him. Right now. The offensive line is a travesty. So if you're the Cincinnati Bengals organization now, how do you best protect? This Lamborghini that you have. Do you get him another weapon so that he could score more points. Where do you keep him upright so he can be your Lamborghini? For the next decade or more. And really, I think the answer resistant, no brainer. The NFL draft truly begins at the fourth Pig. Sure. The Niners might take fields instead of back Jones. Or train Lance instead of Mack Jones, even though all indicators are Mack Jones right now, But we know one is large, and we know two is Wilson. Three's gonna be a quarterback. Fourth pick the Falcons. If they take a guy they should take Cal pits. If they move out, I could see that as well. Somebody else might covet pits or, like I said, my Denver Broncos. Just one example might want to get up and take Trey Lance or take their quarterback of the future. Maybe it's fields. But the fifth pick was Cincinnati is where it really begins. Because that's when you actually have a decision to make. If you're the Falcons, I think if you're in this, you take Carpets and you run and take him. Because I think he's the freak of all freaks. That's a word that gets overused, but it is very applicable. To that young man. He's gonna be a stud. He's not a tight end, but he is a tight end. He's ridiculous. But it's sophisticated. Do you do do you take to mar Chase? I don't think so. Usually I'm all for going to grab The weapon. But in this case You've got to protect Joe Burrow. I think you take Sul there. And I don't think it's even all that difficult. A decision No, I don't know whether or not Cincinnati's going to do it, and we've heard stories. Remember, Russell Wilson told Dan Patrick and he? That's when that whole story began. He wanted more input on personnel decisions in Seattle. This is when the whole weight maybe he wants to leave. Seattle thing became a thing. Watson before we knew about massage parlors and all of this stuff. Wanted to have more saying who the general manager was gonna be. At least he wanted some chatter. He wanted them to at least speak to Eric. The enemy. Didn't say you had to hire him. Just talk to him. And certainly David Coley was not somebody he had mentioned. We're seeing Maura Maura this air Rogers is going to restructure his contract. No. Leverage is being applied. But Joe Burrows, the second year player, how much leverage does he have? He's your future. We know how special he can be. But he ain't special if he's not on the field. Somehow, the Bangles have to take the less flashy pick. His greatest chase could be It doesn't matter how good the why that is, if the quarterback can't play We know this quarterback can play as long as he's healthy. You've got to protect him. You have to So the Bangles have to sit Joe burrow down and say we understand, Man. We think Jamaar chases a stud. But we can't take him at number five men. Do you know why It's because you were sitting watching the last half of the season. After that injury. We can't let that happen again. You're too good. You're too potentially special. Our fans want to see you play looking all the borough jerseys out there. We've got to protect you. We've got to take Panay Sul. Don't know whether or not they'll do that. But I think that's the proper answer. You could tweet me at J. R radio. Let me know if you agree or disagree. But this is not a slight on chase at all. We know what he is likely to be. And it's hard to say Yeah, pass him up. But you've got to get some linemen. You just have to.

Russell Wilson still wants Antonio Brown in Seattle

"Elements so last week long time. Nfl insider. john. Clay said on ninety three seven. Bannon pittsburgh that russell wilson is lobbying the team to sign super bowl winning receiver antonio brown wilson's name has come up in trade talks this season Obviously he hasn't been fully pleased with the seattle seahawks. That's no secret max kellerman. What's your reaction to wilson wanting. I'm confused here. I'm confused because abc does not come the same discount. He came on last year. The bucks right. There's a market for him. Now that's going to be more competitive than it was so it's not just like give basically getting abc for free. He wants them to lure a be away from a super bowl winning team with a great quarterback who still doing it and a great defense and everything all the things that russell wilson was complaining. He doesn't have right. Like i'm confused. Because ross i thought this was about your offensive line which through under the bus or not having a defense. Well there's a limited limited resources in the nfl per team. There's a salary cap. So you must rob peter to pay paul for every cent you spend on antonio brown. You can't spend that sent on your offensive line poor on your defense and it's not like you don't have metcalf and lock it. You have a receiving corps so of course what quarterback wouldn't want to throw the ball to. He's one of the greatest. Whoever did it but given the situation. He's lobbying for another receiver. I thought that was about the offensive line or the defense

Did Washington Do Enough to Push Dallas in the NFC?

"Did washington football teams teamers and the giants do enough to push dallas in the nfc. So i left philly out. I don't yeah. I just don't i am found anyone who really thinks they're going to be competitive. I mean let's wait and see got jalen whatever. But that's a team that they're not really fun to talk about. Because their free agency considered like stripping you know but i mean they did sign at harris for like nothing which is probably better sightings but what you have in jalen also you serianni. Yes hundred percent but washington in york both very active and did interesting. Things i think are worth discussing because dallas after the dak prescott deal was finally done. They've kind of made a few moves around the margins adding kia neil. Getting tied as kind of swing. Tackle still have question marks at adra sure and coroner but washington like i think they might have had my favorite free agency or at least the one that i'm most excited to see. I don't know payoff on the field. So just to recap. They signed the aforementioned ryan fitzpatrick one year. Ten million dollars. They tag branch eff. Who's there Pro bowler guard. They signed william jackson from the bengals. Cornerback three years. Forty two million dollars and then added panthers wide receiver. Curtis samuel for three years thirty four point five million dollars so just starting like let's start here. Do you agree with me like do you. Do you like what they did. And do you think it makes them an actual competitor in the division. A really like what. Washington did You know. I think among the guys among the quarterback that they could get because not only were they never in it for russell wilson or or wherever really going to be competitive for shawn watson You had to start looking okay. We'll what's realistic. And it's the ryan fitzpatrick coming off his best his career. It's an andy dalton and whereas that really gonna lead you I think that there was a lot of interest in marcus. Mariota he still is not able to sign with another team because the raiders are still holding him hostage But so. I like the quarterback. Move because you're essentially saying let's build up the team the and let's have the strongest team possible around the quarterback position where we don't sell out just because we have to for that position free agency. Maybe they make a move at the draft for a guy that they have their eye on. Or maybe they just say let's. Let's keep the boat floating this year and let's make our move Next free agency. So i thought that they probably overpaid by million or two on curtis samuel. But they wanted him And and ron rivera really likes them. Obviously william jackson an incredible deal You look around and you need another pass rusher and they can they can probably keep ryan kerrigan as a third down specialist if he comes down off his number end so you know he's he's still doing that. He's gonna get paid a whole lot of money. I'm not sure that that money is really out there especially at this point in free agency so they didn't want to mortgage their future for for quarterback right. Now they wanted to keep the boat afloat. I that and so. I like what they have done. Specially on evens. Then when you consider the the sort of offense and the pre-snap that they can have with all those offensive playmakers. Now that curtis annuals there with terry corn. I really like with done.

Predictions vs Reality NFC West, Seattle Seahawks

"I predicted the Seattle Seahawks to go 11:00 and 5 last year. I pretty much nailed it. They went 12 and for the only game I missed was the San Francisco 49ers. I could not predict that the $59 would have a bunch of injuries. I thought that the Seattle Seahawks and the 49ers would split their series each win one game against each other instead Seattle beat the 49ers in both games. So that's literally the one game it's kind of crazy. I was horribly wrong about the Cardinals the Rams the 49ers. I nailed Seattle. My prediction was right there for I'm actually not that interested in Seattle. Like I like I said, I'm actually way more fascinated when I get stuff horribly wrong. I said before the year that Seattle relies too heavily on Russell Wilson, they're starting quarterback 2000sq them from their problems and kind of ended up being true now, they brought in the receiver Phillip Dorsett. They brought in Phillip Dorsett from New England. I was curious to Phillip Dorsett kind of a breakout year and Go from a guy who was infuriating to watch a New England to maybe having a great season playing with Russell Wilson. Unfortunately Phillip Dorsett did not play a single game the poor guy hurt his foot in training camp and by November Phillip told I was getting surgery to remove bone spurs from his foot. I encourage you look up a bone spur does not look like a comfortable thing but credits yet. I Seattle try to get Russell Wilson some Playmakers. I thought we were set to not work out. Josh. Gordon did not work out. They brought in. You know Speedy Josh Gordon. He had a setback in recovery. Seattle had to end up cutting him so long so brought in Greg Olsen. They they got a veteran tight end Greg Olsen and I look I got a lot of respect for Greg Olsen. He's awesome. Last year Greg Olsen. However was underwhelming had 24 catches for 239 yards one touchdown played an only 11 games missed a couple of games with an injury. So in the end Greg Olsen retired, so Phillip Dorsett, Josh Gordon, Greg Olsen, like the move Seattle made to try to support Russell Wilson just didn't work out and that's not bad. It just it didn't it didn't work. Unfortunately right now again, I love Greg Olsen. He's amazing. I cannot wait to hear the guy in the broadcast booth next year. But now the one thing that came out very very well for Seattle on offense was DK Metcalf. G came back up Seattle second-year receiver. Oh my gosh. This guy is a monster. He had 83 catches for 1303 yards 10 touchdowns. I love to see that DK Metcalf is a receiver that is just at the beginning of his eventual domination over the NFL. He already does dominate in some games. So he keeps getting better and better and he keep getting better and better the more we watch him. Now as I look back on Seattle season, one of the things that kind of sticks out to me that's very weird still is I just did not love their 2020 first-round picks Seattle is kind of known for having weird. First round draft picks. They drafted linebacker Jordan Brooks 27th overall. And he was her early on so Jordan books now, I will say I'm not going to trash on Jordan books by the end of the year. He made some plays with doing some good stuff like Jordan Brooks. Very good football player solid right desert looks like a first-round pick the end of the year. But here's what's weird to me is that when the Seattle Seahawks went to a nickel package meaning that you bring in an extra corner or defensive back onto the field to basically stop the past when they win to track a package which is happening more and more in the NFL because teams are throwing more and more than ever before. In a nickel package. Jordan Brooks is on the sidelines not playing maybe part of that is because they were he's a rookie. They're trying to light workload. I don't know but it's kind of weird to draft a first-round pick and then not have the guy on the field. All the time makes me wonder despite Jordan Brooks being a very solid football game. Could they not have got drafted somebody 27th overall last year that could have contributed even more to their team. Just a question. I'm asking cuz I looked at it. I still book how it's bit of an odd pick life. Even though Jordan Brooks can play it's like whack could they not have done something better or maybe more interesting than Jordan Brooks just me asking a question here. You can answer for yourself. I'm just for me. I'm like man, you spend a first-round pick on a guy who's not on the field all the time,

NFL Franchise Tag: What it is and how it works

"What is a franchise tax. So you hear this word a lot. I always used to think franchise tag means. We're just gonna see that player on that specific team for the remaining of the season but there or for the next year but they're a little more complicated in that so every offseason teams have a two week window to plot to a one year franchise tag so once the player gets tagged they can either sign that contract or a long term extension. Which is the more i think. That's the more popular use of the franchise tag because a of teams don't want their their coveted players to hit free agency and they don't want another to swoop them without getting being able to offer them. I so these salaries for for each tag varies by position and the price is set by either adding the top five paid players from each position or it can be one hundred percent of a player's previous year's salary so twenty percent Increase in that salary so by position quarterback at least twenty six million a year with the franchise tag water. She was get seventeen million defensive ends get around seventeen million but less than receivers linebackers get fifteen million and so on and so forth. I think running backs get around ten million so it all depends on how guys are being being paid at that specific position so teams only can use this once a year and they can only use it on one player you can use it on the same player different years but yeah you can only had us one tag per year. There's different types of tags. There's an exclusive franchise tag which means players can't negotiate it all with other teams. There's a non exclusive franchise tag where other teams can make an offer and then The the team that has that player can match that offered and take the player And then there's a tradition. Tax tradition tags are similar to non-exclusive but players get an average of top ten position salaries instead of top five. So there's a little bit of a my discrepancy there and once the tag is applied teams have until mid july to renegotiate the contract. So like i said most common use for these franchise tag is not let a player. They want hit free agency. They wanna keep them around and then negotiate a more long-term deal to save some money and get under the cap for the foreseeable future so these somewhat can be slightly unfair A lot of players disliked the franchise tag for example on robinson is voiced his opinions against the franchise tag because it plays a lot of restrictions on upper-echelon players. So when a player like allen robinson gets franchise tagged they can't really find the real market value because they have that set price on them and if they wanted to go explore free agency then they could go interview with a bunch of teams test the waters and see what their actual worth is rather than getting a set number Just put on them so that's somewhat unfair This makes them have no financial security past one season. So if there's an injury then you know they just their value could just completely plummet. Under the franchise tag now players can hold out. That's really the only leverage they have in the su- situation but you know that's asking a lot of a player to put their public. Perception line put their reputation with the fans on the line and so most players don't do that but it has gotten to that point before so most cases players work at a deal for the tag comes into place in july which is the deadline for them to restructure. Or make that deal. So now i'm gonna get into what players have got tagged so far and What does that mean for. These teams moving forward. I player i wanted to discuss. Is alan robinson so. This one was obvious when it had to be done. Bears have a lot of uncertainty at the at the quarterback situation. So i don't think they wanted to make a long term deal without knowing where what direction they were gonna go with the quarterback. But you couldn't let player of this caliber and a player. This talented gopher nothing in return so in twenty twenty roms a career. High one hundred two passes for twelve hundred fifty yards. And he's only twenty seven which is pretty remarkable considering everything he's been through he had a tornado in two thousand seventeen with jacksonville. And he's really played with really bad quarterbacks over the years he's had blake bortles who's a backup slash bouncing around the league and he's played with mitch trubisky. Who's a failed first round pick for the chicago bears. And he's still been that he's had that production there no matter what. So i really wanna see robinson play with upper echelon quarterback and i just think if you give him a russell wilson someone who's above slightly above average maybe even just average than his numbers will go up. Even more is ridiculous so like i said he's a true number one receiver. I would argue top five in the league. He's either gonna play for seventeen million in two thousand twenty which is what his franchise tag number. I think he's looking for more around twenty million and easier gonna play under that contract or he can hold out. Which i think is definitely a possibility with this player just because of the displeasure. He's voiced on social media and kind of how players of rallied. His teammates have rallied rallied around him and they really want to see him get paid but when you look at the market value so he's gonna get paid seventeen million the tag next year.

Seattle Seahawks Today: Latest Rumors On A Russell Wilson Trade

"Originally or a few a few weeks ago russell. Wilson's camp released some information that he was unhappy in seattle. They have not formally requested a trade but it seems like the relationship has some conflict there. he has a no trade clause in his contract. There were specific exemptions from four. Team's the cowboys. The saints the bears and las vegas after dak prescott signed is extent like talked about and the raiders recently have back derek carr. They've given their full support. They they wanna move forward their cars. So that really leaves the saints and the bears as the final two candidates for possibly getting russell wilson this offseason so saints are always in salary cap trouble From what. I've learned about the salary cap they can. They ended up being able to just move money around when they need to. But they're always close to reaching that point so they're always during the cat but it seems unlikely that they will be able to make a move for quarterback this price in this caliber. So when you re comes down to it. The bears like the front runners as the most desperate team. Four quarterback if you've watched the nfl shares have always had quarterback issues. They've been in quarterback hell so to speak for the past two decades and russell. Wilson could come in and immediately fix that so the bears are desperate. And i see the bears as the front running candidate to lead russell wilson or land russell. Wilson this offseason. So when did all this start with russell. wilson is come out of nowhere I would say to myself when i first saw. Russell wilson wants out. I was shocked. But although it's not that cut and dry comes down to russell wilson. Mp carol's relationship. So they've won a superbowl. They made playoffs made. They made the playoffs. Eight times in the last nine seasons which is absurd. It's absurd to think there was wasn't been playing in the nfl for the last nine seasons But he's been assault as they come. He's true winner. he goes to the playoffs. he's clutch and i see. The situation is very similar to the tom. Brady situation new england. You had tom brady and bill play for all those years. Winning all those super bowls and talk. Although tom brady wasn't playing up to his level he wasn't playing bad and they had that loss to the titans of the playoffs. And i think he just had those two egos bill. Belichick and tom brady kind of going at each other. And they've they've finally kind of just tired of that relationship and they wanted to move on. They wanted to start. Something new. And when quarterbacks are with the head coach for so long things start to take a turn for the worst so. I'm not sure if that's exactly what's happening with p carroll and russell wilson but there are a lot of similarities there so it was reported in week. Eleven of the season. That wilson stormed out of an offensive meeting when he was trying to offer insight as to what he wanted done as on a bit done for protection standpoint and so that was the first sign the second sign is just overall. He's been getting hit way. Too much. says he's sacked. He's been three hundred ninety four times since entering the league which is on pace to be the most sat quarterback of all time which is pretty insane when you consider how well he's played and he's just been under duress running for his life literally for the last his whole career and so seattle hasn't found a way to kind of sure up that protection for him. I think that's starting to get frustrating as well. So but more specifically in two thousand twenty. He had a week nine loss to the bills. This was a defining moment for this offense offense because after that moment. Russell wilson had started to throw a lot of turnovers making a lot of risky plays they lose to the bills. The seahawks kind of started to scale the offense back like i said to limit turnovers and did not perform well for the rest of the season so before that game. They were top. Three league based on expected points added per play. They were the number three the top three leak and then after that game from from weeknight on they felt a number eighteen the remainder of the season. So that's a huge huge drop off so they really sputtered down the stretch. They were able to win games and make the playoffs through to their defense. Kind of picking picking up. Their play was weird. Their offense was so good in the beginning the defense awful and he kind of flipped that latter half of the year but he's also getting hit It doesn't seem to meet on their offensive loss of beat philosophy and he. He's definitely voiced that he wants more of a say. In the franchise direction as the franchise quarterback so all these things culminating into one is. Where would he end up.

Dallas Cowboys Reach Multi-Year Deal With Star Quarterback Dak Prescott

"Salary cabin number for two thousand and twenty one is going to be twenty two point two million dollars all right now. Head dak prescott. In franchise tag again this will happen in a procedural sense but had to cow tried to go at this with dak prescott on the franchise tag for the two thousand and twenty one season. We've talked about this a number of times. That value would have been thirty. Seven point seven million dollars so the fact that the cow is now have him onto the books. We're talking about the value that is on the books in the books. However you want to look at the books whether they're e books or physical books whatever the case may be that value is now twenty two point two million dollars now. I know that we have all said some things about the dallas cowboys but they are not complete dummies. They surely budgeted for the franchise tag value. Because let's be honest. They came about twenty four hours. We think you know. Close to having the actually placed the franchise tag and maybe carried out with that prescott. So the cowboys have room for the franchise tag at the very least so you look at that quake matt that adam schefter was kind enough to do for you. That is fifteen point. Five million dollars that the dallas cowboys suddenly have because they've got this long term deal with that prescott. This is something that we've been saying for two years now. If you do this you can. You can kick this down the road. You can prorate it you can extended you can whatever term you want to put on it. You can spread the impact of the deal out of the signing bonus of the overall guaranteed money out over the lives of the contract so it doesn't hit you all at once. That's the one killer about the franchise tag is that it is fully and completely guaranteed in franchise tag is a one year deal so the value of it last year and dak prescott was on the tag for thirty one point. Four million dollars. The two thousand twenty dallas cowboys had to absorb that value all at once and they would have had to have done it again. Here in two thousand and twenty one but because they have adjusted that they now have fifteen and a half million dollars that they were seemingly budgeting for dak prescott that now they can apply to different areas. Maybe it is a safety. Maybe it's a defensive end. Maybe it's a defensive tackle. Maybe it's you know an offensive tackle. But they want swing tackled death whatever the case may be. We know that the cowboys obviously hold the tenth overall. Pick in the draft. They could go a number of different directions there. They wanna cornerback kayla farther patrick's retain do wanna take one of the tackles and rashawn slater as all this is. This is setting up and this is an important thing. I want you to hear me here and watch me here. You cannot waste this money. If dallas cowboys the whole point and getting this done with thac prescott besides obviously establishing having the best player on your team for the foreseeable future the point in doing this is to alleviate the salary cap space now. And i don't like the term when now if you watch us often you know that but you look state of the nfc east. It is by sudha. I mean the philadelphia. Eagles are a disaster. The new york giants doping daniel jones is legitimate. The washington football team has a great team but is void of the most important position of the game and a quarterback. Maybe they'd get somebody this cycle as we all expect quarterbacks to change teams at a higher rate than usual but the case in point is at the dallas cowboys are now. We're going to see this all day on tuesday by the way and we'll talk about it of course but they're going to be overwhelming favorites to win the nfc streit and you think about the conference that they plan is really a contender in the nfc. And i mean that with all due respect to the reigning champion tampa bay buccaneers. But you've got the bucks you've got the green bay packers and then who scares you. May maybe the rams you believe in matthew stafford but the point is thinking about the afc. I mean the. Afc has the bills and the ravens and the chiefs and the titans and the steelers and the browns. I mean you could go. A number of different ways. Did the colts have carson. Wentz ends up getting his act together and so the cowboys play in the weakest division in the weaker conference and so now they have this opportunity to really kind of take their future in the here and now they have fifteen and a half million dollars that they weren't necessarily planning on having use it and if they don't use it it is all for not so i mean we are all imploring the dallas cowboys to ultimately use this salary cap space. This is a very very very luxurious gift. That they now have been afforded that they didn't previously have so shattered of course to the dallas cowboys. Let's see here let's move. I'm i wanna talk of course about the bonus the dak prescott because well. It's stupid large. I mean it's amazing. Dak prescott has now the largest signing bonus in the nfl. You look at joe flacco. Once upon a time. Got forty million. Dollars matt ryan forty six and a half. Remember if you're on the fence about this value. We've talked about this before as well. Matt ryan became the first quarterback in nfl history to average over. He had thirty but to average at least thirty million dollars per year with his new contract that he signed with the atlanta falcons in two thousand and eighteen. That was three years ago. Dak prescott signed a four six year. Deal whatever you wanna call it. That was three years ago. They matt ryan signed that he was the first quarterback to hit the thirty million dollars a year. Mark prescott just hit forty but the reality and we've been saying this forever is that there are so many deals coming around the bend. Josh allens gotta get paid. Lamar jackson's gotta get paid. Baker mayfield's got to get paid extra calories. He's going to get paid the year after that. It's going to be time for joe burrow to finally get paid and when all of those players get paid this forty million dollars a year. Mark the dak prescott got this one hundred twenty six million dollar. Total guaranteed is sixty six million dollar signing bonus all these things that are currently the top of the nfl. The most in nfl history. That's the verbiage in determining that you're hearing associated with this and it's all literally true but it's all going to get pushed down because all of these players on this list. Joe flacco matt ryan matthew stafford at fifty million signing bonus. Aaron rodgers fifty. Seven and a half russell wilson not going to be a dallas cowboy now by the way sixty five million dollars. Dak prescott topped that all of these quarterbacks in all likelihood we'll top that that's the reality of the nfl things are always moving in one direction. It is up

Washington releases Alex Smith following quarterback's Comeback Player of the Year season

"Quickly. I have some news that has just come in from adam. Schefters twitter feed. And it's not a surprise but the washington football team has released alex smith. Who was this year's choice for the nfl's comeback player of the year overwhelmingly. So he has been released. They save almost fifteen million dollars cap space so in an off season. Where does shawn watson might be available. Dak prescott might be available. Russell wilson might be available louis. How interested do you think teams will be alex smith as he becomes available now. I think alex is a tremendous mentor. I think alex would be a tremendous bridge quarterback at this point in time these people are going to really try and connect the dots between him in chicago given his familiarity with matt nagy and that system that they run in chicago like it was in kansas city. I don't think that's a that's the option that they're looking for but look. I have nothing but infinite. Respect for alex smith at any team would be better served having him in their in their quarterback room for sure.

Inside The Russell Wilson-Seahawks Rift

"Years russell. Wilson has been wanting to throw the ball more and at the start of this year. It finally happened russell. Wilson was not good in the first half of the twenty twenty season. He was excellent deep cap touchdown. Seattle you run down there and set in his answer. Any better than that was fourth in yards per attempt. Weeks one through nine i. In passing. touchdown percentage was second in passer rating. Wilson keeps as default talk. He was legit. The best player in the league madden gave him a ninety nine overall rating during the season because he was cooking notion as he throws an accident. Edi feeds defensive player of the years like russell. Lula's legitimately the best guy in football games of the season then week nine arrived and they had this game against the buffalo bills that you recently wrote about. Can you tell us what happened in that game. And afterwards what happened is russell had to cook in the kitchen. Just kind of just caught on. Fire his paycheck wine with a sack at a takeaway from russell wilson. I actually watched that game with a former cr defensive and cliff april and teased talking me through it. And he's like russ's off he's trying to do too much and i think turned it over like four times. He threw a pick on the goal. Line throws for the jordan with tyco. I think that really turned the tables for the whole team. After that loss where they gave up forty four points and turned it over a bazillion times and got embarrassed in buffalo. Well what i would tell you that. I don't recognize that game. We haven't seen the look like that and it's a game that i don't have any place in my brain for. He told us he didn't even have any space in his brain for that game. That's very important subjects right like the fact that he considered that not seahawks. Football was influential the rest of the year. Well the following week against the rams things. I guess only got worse. Wilson throws and the other one four darius williams second game. I know that there are better days ahead. I'll use a baseball now but sometimes you go up to the plate you know and you don't have your way today mike. You and our colleagues. Mike sando jason jank's wrote about a meeting. That happened shortly after that loss to the rams can you take us inside that meeting room and just explain what went down russia's meeting with the coaches normal game planning type of meeting and he has suggestions he is giving input usually does and his suggestions just weren't dismissed. There were dismissed in a way that russell didn't feel appreciate it. And i think that is really important. I'm sure they disagree in every meeting ever but in this particular instance rust belt that he was not being appreciated so rushed stormed out was basically this idea that. How dare anyone in this building. Be dismissive of my ideas. I am of the quarterback was almost like kevin durant warriors when he was like no way up. I'm kevin durant russell wilson and he rustled perceives him to be someone who has succeeded. In spite of what's been around him not because of running for his life making the pro bowl with battle lines perceive that to be like the story of his career. And you get to week eleven. And it's like do. Just chill out. We got this no. You don't don't get it. I got it and that forced him out the door. Russell in the second half of the season was which is not himself like he was twenty eighth in yards per attempt in his final eight games he was sixteenth. In a touchdown percentage nineteenth in passer rating. These are bad numbers. These are not just like below average twenty nine yards per attempt man that was lower than the cincinnati bengals. Even when the circumstances are bad around russell he's been good enough to elevate situation still played inefficient level and twenty twenty was the first time it was like. Wow he's not able to elevate the lack of talent or execution of preparation around him and it produced like some of the worst numbers of his career certainly produced the worst playoff game of his career against the rams in the wild round sitting meeting big. Who's going into other sack four sacks two takeaways the interception return for the touchdown and floyd now all right. Let's fast forward a few weeks to the super bowl. The seahawks have been knocked out by the rams in the wildcard round and russell. Wilson is at super bowl. Fifty five in tampa bay sitting with none other than commissioner. Roger goodell mike. Tell us what you found in your reporting about russell. Wilson's experience at the super bowl. You know it's really interesting. Because i tweeted during the super bowl. That antonio brown caught a touchdown from tom brady in front of russell. Wilson there is the pass for the touchdown. What drive a super bowl. Winning drive that brady's only done throughout his whole career. I kind of just said it like star cast the as a joke. Not really thinking about how russell fell and then as our reporting i was like okay so i i was right like he is really upset. And it's so many factors. There is the fact that tom brady is in. The super bowl is the fact tom. Brady's they're playing pine. A good line is the fact that tom brady is playing in a system. That gives him some atonomy like got to pick players gronk. Antonio brown is the fact that mahomes is there again laying for again in a system that like essentially like his talents. The last time also played in the super bowl loss of tom brady seven years later prime many years. Tom brady's back. I suppose in a soup. Kitchen fuming so during the superbowl. He's texting his quarterback coach. And just close. Friend jake heaps. He's a local radio guy. Here jake to set it on the radio. He's talking about how russ was missed during the game texting him. They'll look the he had was in reflective of the text messages. I was receiving russell wilson. Just ultimately the overall sentiment was that he was mad that he was not lying in this thing and then russell spoke to the shortly after the game show. What's up with our line. You see that. Winning requires a good line and the gist of peace response. As far as i was told is about faith. And just you know we got this. And that just wasn't good enough for us

Bill Barnwell Breaks Down NFL Quarterback Moves

"So bill. We gave you do the math a whole month away from this podcast before our dependency bio chemically kicked back in so i just hope the last four weeks have been everything that you personally needed. Pablo got on many vacations. I turned around my life after six months of just staying watching football now. Bill barn wells weekly column on. Espn plus and he hosts the bill. Barnwell show podcast realistically. I have done something that few human beings have accomplished. I managed to get one pack of moments from nba. top shot. yeah. We share that same addiction. You are far deeper into the game than me. I realized over the weekend. I just want there to be an nfl top shot. Because i feel like that's going to happen right. It has to. i mean. Imagine the things you could do. You could send somebody that colts fake punt from years ago or or if you wanted to try some of your friends. Perhaps you could send the russell wilson interception from the nfl top shot to a certain person with the initials m used to host the show. Yeah just randomly picking in that example in those initials absolutely but bill. We dragged you back here. Speaking of a certain quarterback who threw a certain interception emotionally terrorized ours. Because this is an especially dramatic. Nfl offseason. they're all these big name. Quarterbacks who want out of these relationships that seemed from a distance at least pretty broken and russell wilson and the seahawks. I need to ask you about that. I because i know russ isn't feeling respected by head coach. Pete carroll reporting. I know that carol wants to revoke all of his cooking privileges. We've heard now. Russell wilson like storming out of meetings which is kind of funny to imagine like door very lightly slamming so this particular soap opera. What is all of it. Feel like to you much ado about nothing really. I mean i just i. Just don't buy russell wilson drama. I go back to his contract. Negotiations this is the same player in the same agent. Who wants imply that he would leave football in the middle of these negotiations entering the final year of his deal to try professional baseball. Where russell wilson once for the iraqis and the organization he hit to twenty eight in the low minors before returning to college football. It was not a realistic threat. But if that way does he want the seahawks to give him more helpful on the offensive line which has been sort of the crux of his public complaints. Yeah i do believe that. And i think that the seahawks could benefit from giving him more help. They relied on russell wilson to run his way out of sacks and free pressures from unblock players which has worked for that stretch buddies also taken a ton of hits cuss russell. Wilson plays the way he plays. He is going to take a ton of sacks regardless of how good his protection is the best way honestly pablo to get him. Hitless frequently would be to run the ball more. Which is the exact thing. Russell wilson was trying to get the seahawks do lasso last offseason. So there is something here but i very much doubt that leads to a trade. My favorite thing about this new cycle i think is that russell wilson has relayed via his wrapped. Adam schefter that he is not demanding a trade but if he were there are these four specific teams that he'd like to go to the bears. The cowboys the saints. The raiders does any of that make sense to you know not at all i mean the classic russell wilson tropez that ciara was going to pick teams him in new york in los angeles which this is the opposite that list even the teams he chose are so strange. Maybe you'd argue that. He chose teams with great offensive. Lions triumph of the seahawks. But the trade doesn't really add up the same. Stu have agreed offensive line. But they're like sixty five million dollars over the salary cap. The cowboys have a great line. Whenever everyone's healthy but they also have back prescott. that's not gonna work either the bears. I don't understand. They don't have a great line or any cap space. That one makes no sense to me on either. Level the raiders. Maybe are the most interesting and plausible candidate of the bunch with a great line and some cap space to work with. But when i think about jon. Gruden as raiders coach. He wants quarterbacks to do exactly what jon gruden wants on every single play. I don't think any if it really adds up to meaningful trae dialogue. I don't think there's going to be a conversation between the seahawks and another team about trying to make a trade for russell wilson work but this is twenty twenty one anything is possible

This is not for me anymore. Okay i would like to potentially go on and have success somewhere because when legacies are talked about hall of fames or talked about. He's going in saying. Get me out of here. That's when it gets interesting because now it's not you know because back in the day they would move somebody is they're labeled a distraction. Let's get out of here. Let's go do whatever now. It's like all of the biggest name players that you would never expect a walter payton man of the year potentially the greatest philanthropic person in the nfl is potentially saying you know what i mean a new landscape. I'm intrigued to see how this continues. How each of these situations gets talked about judge in how many of them actually happened. Because the seahawks without russ stink. "Some drama in the streets russell. Wilson's team his personal team of fended his. Nfl team his nfl team is not happy with the russell team or russell. Right now. Allegedly will russell wilson be traded. Is russell wilson. The man that the seattle seahawks won all in on and got rid of everybody else could force his way out of seattle because he doesn't like the way he's being protected his chef came out and said hey. Listen we don't like what's going on on the football field. His promotional manager his marketing manager his agent his strength and conditioning coach his body guru. Everybody that is on the team. Ross what's number three team three. I believe his team three came out and said something. About the way the seattle seahawks have operated entreated the three in team three that was just moments or maybe even an hour or two before. Russell wilson was three was scheduled to go on with dan. Patrick was this a plan by team three to get a little bit of drama contrivances sparked so that maybe they could get russell wilson out of seattle into another city that maybe they feel he'd be able to win a super bowl again at be back in that conversation back in the mvp conversation and all that because that seems a little bit of a combo there. We're going to leak some shit. About how pissed off we are. Then we're gonna have russell wilson by the way chug somebody's celsius me. Die right there.

NFL Honors: Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson announced as 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year

"But it's also a weekend where some top NFL honors of the year have been announced for me. Abed Buffet of Coma Sports says there's a Seahawk player among these honors. Russell Wilson is the epitome of what you want from a franchise player. No, he's never won the M v P, But he's a great athlete and an even better person. At the NFL honors, the league recognized that Wilson's value stretches far beyond The white lines. Russell Wilson was named the Walter Payton, NFL Man of the year for his charitable acts and excellent on and off the field with the help of his wife, Sierra Wilson, and the Why not You foundation donated one million meals to feeding America's food lifeline. In October, Wilson announced their latest efforts of starting the Why not You Academy who will be a charter school set to open next fall for the award, Wilson will receive $290,000. Go towards the white, not you Foundation. 2020 was the most difficult times of history, losing a sports icon like Kobe in a movie star and Chadwick witnessing losing George Floyd. Right in front of her eyes. A modern Briana and so many others the loss of so many because of this monster of a pandemic called Covert 19. We've lost so many things, but, Dad, I wish you were here. You to tell the world love changes things. Wilson is the second Seahawk to win the award after Steve Largent in 1988 and rightfully so. The list of contributions include partnering with the United Way's United Last Mile campaign, which is delivered 860,000 miles across King County, along with wine that you foundation Wilson has also helped raise more than $9 million for pediatric cancer research to go along. "russell wilson" Discussed on Seattle Now

"Hey, Mike, Thanks for being here. From thank you for having. I'm going to be real honest with you. I don't know much about sports. I am the public radio stereotype, but I do live with someone who knows something about sports and love sports so I hear things. seahawks players have been pretty vocal in the past weeks, supporting the protests Seattle and the Movement for black lives. Take a listen. This police brutality is is staggering in an honestly something I understand fully, you know people are getting murdered on the street. People are getting shut down. And the understanding that you know it's not like that for every other race. Like that particular. For the black community. Okay, tell me what's different about this. Is this new? it's not as new for Seattle. It's more new for the the characters that are doing it so Twenty Sixteen Win Colin Kaepernick can For Instance Russell in twenty sixteen basically like. I understand what call on is doing, but I love the flag. He said something like police lives matter. Black lives matter everybody's life matters right? That was Russell and twenty sixteen on Sunday night Russell hosted the SP's in open. The black lives matter t shirt on Monday. He tweeted. The only thing that should die as racism like that's where Russell has come now. Those aren't grand statements necessarily, but you can see the for your journey that he's had. Why is it different? Maybe being a father is different. He was not in two thousand sixteen. He's got a baby on the way. So I, he's a good example of where the rest of the people who were trying to be on the fence have come. People were still opposed to here for the most part, but if you're like on the fence and afraid to come over to the anti-racist side, that's the path led a lot of people on Russell doing it in public. And nationally the NFL has said Okay Colin. Kaepernick we were wrong about that. In my mind, I think okay. Now. What because I think about the same thing with NASCAR NASCAR says? Oh, we're not going to have the confederate flag anymore. Okay, you up flag, but what is next then? This is a pretty safe space for the NFL to be operating in right now. No I. Think in the NFL is very similar to the Seahawks, and that we gotta divide. Like Roger, Goodell the Commissioner. NFL is a dude in a way he does represent the NFL, but he also works for thirty two owners of thirty two times where they because they are the NFL as well. We have to kind of divide it up in that way. Goodell may have walked a little bit of stuff back. The like we need to hear the owners specifically the seven who donated to trump's campaign inauguration where you guys one. The dolphins was the owner of the Jaguars whereas Jerry Jones owner cowboys Bob Kraft owner the Patriots until we hear from those guys. We the NFL for from our money hasn't changed its stance. Some teams have some coaches have del may have, but the bill those owners. They're probably just as pissed about all this stuff as they were before. I wonder if the players speaking out now could shift the dynamic. Just a little bit could shift the power dynamic. Year the players. The players do have a voice, and it's very powerful. The problem is historically the NFL. The League doesn't listen to the players in that. Unless you're a star quarterback. Your Voice only carries so much weight. While the players putting the pressure on them. Can Shift can have some power. It really won't work, and so they actually use the leverage they have is which is their presence, and it's not only their voices their presence now if the if the seahawks. Were to say we're not. GonNa come to training camp. Even if you re allowed to govern, the opens up the state. We're not gonNA. Come to training camp jody, Allen, does this insert distinct? That is where the players could have could have because you know what happened Jodi. Would thing in an hour? They can tweet things and do stuff in their communities, and like make PSA's and do all the other berry important work I would say these things matter, but to get the owners to do something to get them to budge your presence. Your presence combined with your voice is what makes the change and when you say presents not showing up for work right because they don't make money unless you show up to work and Russell. Wilson just doesn't show up the the business you and talk about pissing people. Business model goes down. Russell Wilson doesn't show to work because that'll change everything. All Right Mike. Where do we go from here? And I love that that's like the question that everyone is asking right now. 'cause I read. Martin Luther King's book, chaos or community in like the soap headline. Where do we go from here? I'm are believed the last book he wrote for. He was killed in nineteen, sixty eight in his crazy to think that that's still. The question now after I, bring that up to show. That's how far we still gotta go. Martin Luther King Accident. We're back then. We're still asking it now but I think it starts with white people being on the front lines about issue that doesn't necessarily affect them negatively like that's always what we needed. That's more. The king talked about and I think what people really forget about. History and learning education is filled US miserably. Good God! People are just taught things so. We need to educate ourselves and understand and the history of this country. Why, people didn't just listen to black people with just a man. Can we have some rights? Sure? No Man. We had a fight fight fight fight and get the help of white people, and that's why people are so important here why people listen to other white people? If they listen to black people, we wouldn't have had slavery that law you know like. We would've just wanted to let us go. We were running away at bringing it back. They don't just listen to us like. This is not natural..

"How do you. How do you see this playing out going forward with Russell becoming in a bigger and bigger role on his team? I wonder if Israel can get any bigger than it is right now to be honest. I mean they've they've bet the farm on him they've made essentially a financial exchange Russell's those big contract and in some extent Bobby Wagner contract in exchange for a series of pieces. They've let go over the last couple of years Sherman Thomas etc etc and so he is the franchise quarterback sort of in a structural financial way. And I think he's the perfect conduit for Pete Carols Philosophy and the sort of tone and mood peak-hour wants around his football team. You Chuck juxtaposed the Seahawks Culture and team and Carol with the Patriots ballot check and Brady. Why compare those teams? I think it's always sort of hovering. There barely barely spoken and in some ways outright spoken I got to spend a couple of minutes at Russell and Seattle. He brought it up to me. Sort of unprompted. He brought up bill bell check and compared him to peak Arrow and he compared with self to Tom. Brady and I think the Super Bowl and the the way that the way that game ended mention Russell look inside and the way it still sort of haunts the team of that era. The two teams feel so different. I love to imagine a League where it was the Seahawks who dominated the twentieth century and one of the Super Bowls because the Patriots. It makes it seem so dour so joyless they handle it in such a way as to give the impression that they think they are doing the most important thing in the world and it's extremely streaming tedious to be around. That and the sea hawks are the opposite of that kind of feeling. It's not a football as sort of total leising way of living for them. Let's just the thing that they take pleasure in it they love to do. They do very very well but they don't have to make the rest of US miserable personally. I think both teams have overachieved. Leave Tibet this season is culture. The reason for the success. Yeah I think in in the way that Brady is or has been for most of his career sort of perfect conduit for Bella checks worldview. It's the partnership with a top between the franchise quarterback in the head coach in one side of New England and the other side and in Seattle. That makes that influences the way those two teams play I think for the seahawks. The way it works is the experience that Russell and Pete bring to. The table gets to be transmitted into this young team. Through the fact that no one is ever being you know as Luke Wilson Sesame. There's just not a lot of negativity around here and I think you see. That's an environment that young players find it easy to adapt themselves into what are the downsides it perceived or real downsides to having this as easy easygoing fund type of team if you WanNa take a critical view of it you can say that they are perhaps not facing reality about the fact that they are sliding heading into the playoffs having lost three or four games and Pete just sort of dismisses it outright. We'll talk about it. You know the state wipe clean part of that. Is You know typical football. All speak but part of that is again a refusal to allow for the entry of any doubt any bad feelings and again. That's that's specific. I think to Pete and to Russell and the way they want to handle things because there is a way in which you can motivate team by having them running scared and Russell Russell Wilson and P calcium not to want to do that ever. How does that translate to winning though well for them? I think it allows the young players to forget get bad games very quickly coach. Dave Canal said to me that the younger the team gets the latter Russell's voice gets into more supposed to take on his personality and I think one of the things that you see in their young players is that they don't feel stressed and out of control when things are going wrong and moreover when things are going around able to sort of forget quickly and keep going to take A. We'll SONIAN phrase. The belief is unwavering. I asked Russell near the end of my time. Is he had a when I got to sit with him. I asked him someone walks into a room and they don't like you. What don't they like about? And he sort of stopped in his tracks and took a second and then he ultimately said I just try to please God. I don't really worry about what other people think of me. Russell doesn't seem to care how he seen and I think upon close association that's not corny released. Its cordy in a way that I find palatable and I saw this great reporting it was a really fun piece to read like. I was back in the locker room. Appreciated not thank you. mm-hmm story today. "You'll be the analysts. It's their absolute pleasure talking to you. Abroad congrats on coming to Fox. We Love Avenue. Thanks I appreciate it man yeah. It's a great way to put it. He Russell runs in the rain rain and the raindrops and doesn't get wet. He just flying around and that was so good. This is fun to watch so good. There is a baseball playoff game and I gently only Love Baseball playoff games but I was glued to it was so much fun to watch it with an NFL coach me and Mangini just he just sat there and I'd ask them question after question and he just he'd roll his eyes at Russell so he's like. Let me tell you something. This is no fun to play against. I'm he was a former coordinators is is just there's nothing fun about. I mean how do you even game plan for that you you don't they're just stuff. You can't do run in the rain. Don't get wet by the way wiper blades Michelin Endurance. Xt Silicone wiper blades real world world proven extreme weather performance two times longer than other blades. That's how long they last these blades only available at Walmart Michelin Endurance. Xt Silicone wiper blades aged joy Taylor with no heard on the news. This is the headline news so the vikings receivers have not been very successful accessible with kirk cousins that at Phelan called cousins out after loss to the bears and yesterday's digs did not exactly deny rumors that he wants to trade from Minnesota but but the UN is now blaming all the hype surrounding team on the media. I think the frustration is is. Is You guys. It's not us. We were not fair. We're going to work I don't. I don't think if you guys watch practice. Today we were flying around. We're having fun and we were making place so I think that's a that's a media thing more than frustration for Moscow's because yeah and you know after a game things like that you're gonNA show frustration but you know not. We're worried about New York and we're not at all. I really like Minnesota this weekend. I think I'm telling you. It's going to be a complete mismatch. Minnesota's got way good players. Do a lot of this is nonsense. You can't tell me they weren't frustrated. Of course they were frustrated and also just the you know no freaking out about Minnesota receivers not being able to link up with Kirk cousins like media's not drumming that up. We got a couple of other stories on our plate. Creating controversy in Minnesota is not one of those things on our agenda. Today can assure you of that. The media's only reacting to what the vikings the receivers said. He's walking around like you know what I bet you. Theon fundings are very frustrated. Let's do a whole segment on that too. Fond dig started following patriots on Instagram. Social media gives us lots of clues. We didn't get years ago and also what Phelan said atlas his mouth to reporters the. There's always drives me insane. We created the story when you're the one that said it. This is how it works. If you're frustrated you're frustrated believing people understand end the frustration. How could you not be frustrated. Nobody wants a dud and the current situation is rushing to everyone including us because we don't want her cousins bad. It's not good for anybody so Russell Wilson quite the statement last night as we discuss the seahawks win over the rams seventeen of twenty three two hundred sixty eight yards and four touchdowns but even before this performance performance he had a pretty solid place in the MVP race here as well where Wilson ranks and the NFL through the first four weeks I in completion percentage nine thousand passing yards eighth with touchdown passes fifty yards per attempt second in passer rating and tied reverse with no interceptions and the and this you know this is not a passing offense as Greg Cosell. This is a running offense so when you look at those numbers and say well he's eight and touchdown passes was got Doug Baldwin left. He's blocking tight end. We'll digitally. He's got decay metcalf half who draft because people bailed on him in the draft can a Gadget Guy Kansas state lock who is made into a star so it's if you look at Dak Prescott all all of Dak Prescott what he's surrounded by in fact by staff. I don't even know where I put this. My staff gave this to me. Dak Prescott is surrounded by nothing but first and second rounders Jason Jason Witten was a third rounder. It's remarkable. Seattle's got you know doing brown was a first rounder left tackle. There's a lot of third fourth seventh rounder so what what is surrounded by and what Russell Wilson surrounded by offense. That's two different levels of talent well also I think this Russell's just shining this year like you're really seeing an explosive play out of him and and and he's finally getting credit for the longest time we always elsom wasn't in that conversation and he should have been now now. He really is who do you have is. I mean obviously mahomes about his atop the conversation but you gotTa have Russell on their back. I think Aaron Rodgers in that conversation then if I had a vote MVP today and I'm just voting MVP. I would give it to Russell Wilson just because of his like last night they would have lost that game without Russell Wilson Kansas City. I would say that second I think Carson Wentz and their loss to the saints is a respectable loss. I I mean we saw what happened to the cowboys like it's not like everyone thought the saints. We're GONNA fall off without drew brees. It's not the case. Finally the steelers got their first win last week but Juju Smith Schuster was not not very involved the only had three catches fifteen yards against the bengals and Mason Rudolph says needs gets the ball to him more ball your best players and that's something you look forward to every week in the game plan but also just to get you know emphasis on my end in game but just a team player and there's going to be games like that where it might take him away or other guys step up and make plays and they did Monday night and to Kinda group we do is going to be important to this game but he did tell reporters that he thinks he is questionable juice day yes. I like Baltimore. I didn't put it in my blazing fire but like Baltimore didn't love the number of what I like Baltimore. Yes it's raises ravens minus three and a half. I also like Baltimore this week. I want to go with the steelers because that's you know that's my team but as a after that loss to the browns last week the Ravens are going to come in with a whole attitude and you know while I like the win. The Mason Rudolph got that game plan is not going to work against the Ravens and now with Judy being being possibly questionable is the ravens look like the way to go in this game yet with the news well that's the news and thanks for stopping by the heard line reading a story in the Washington Post About Russell Wilson and Jerry Brewer wrote it at the Washington Post said Russell's the best franchise quarterback currently in the NFL. He'll be thirty one next month so I would say if if if I just said you okay next five years so this will eliminate the brady breeze rivers I said next five years who's your guy I would say to me there's two it's Mahomes and Russell Wilson Wentz the Shawn Watson and Garoppolo. I think are really talented but I'm crossing my fingers on injuries golf. I think it's way better than people think but I don't think he's special athletically. I do think he really needs to run game. I think Aaron Rodgers is older. I do think he doesn't win enough and I think sometimes he's difficult to coach wants wants. Andrew luck retired because I would. I would have made it Mahomes Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck once Andrew Retired the next five years. If I had depict guys it'd be Mahomes and Russell Wilson no particular order hit I mean think about the ability for Russell Wilson to not get hit Carson Wentz a bigger. You're stronger athlete has already missed thirteen games. Russell Wilson's never missed one in eight years like that's a real thing you know. Eli Manning didn't Miss Start but he he also didn't run I think Russell Wilson's ability to move does not get hit and by the way I think Baker Win Games Lamar when Games. I think Sam Darnold win a bunch of games but I just I think there's sometimes there is a There's a special and I think mahomes and Russell Wilson part of Russell. Special is his self awareness. He just doesn't get hit. It's a real thing I was watching. Lamar Jackson play couple weeks ago is like the first series of the game may have been a Cleveland or Kansas City Kansas City. He just got popped. I'm like I don't think I've Seen Russell Wilson. Get hit like that. In eight years. last night was just magical man just a march on these highlights. NFS Too. I mean look at it. He just you know this is where the baseball thing helps him because he's a great slider and you've heard guys like Michael Vick like I didn't know how to slide Brady. I Russell Wilson Man. He the slide thing he should trademark that because he is he just you got a key to lead to bite their left his coverage so much fun coming up next listen. It is the Dallas Ellis Green Bay game. "I would say, man. Okay. And Ben also has leadership issue. I mean, two Super Bowls underachievement two Super Bowls. But I understand what you're saying. It's been disappointment considering not say Ben is better than Russell. When one of the first things we think with Ben is he's kind of underachieve of the talents hat. Russell Wilson are Andrew luck. Andrew luck is the best college quarterback prospect. I've seen luck has endured lousy oh lines until recently. Virtually no pro bowlers until recently until last year had no running game his head coach got fired utter instability for all these years and yet Andrew luck when eleven and five eleven and five eleven and five is first years in the league and got to an AFC championship. I do not believe Russell Wilson with that lack of defense in coaching could have done that Andrew luck wrestles and are Matt Ryan I think Matt Ryan good beat plus quarterback. I'm not sure he's a hall of Famer. This is an easy one. Russell wilson. All right. Russell wilson. Or drew Brees? I consider drew Brees one of the eight best quarterbacks. I've seen in my lifetime. He's more accurate. I think he has unbelievable leadership skills that can't be rivaled except maybe by Tom Brady. I'd take drew Brees. I'd agree. Russell Wilson are Aaron Rodgers closer than everybody thinks will take Aaron Rodgers by a smidge because I think he is the best arm talent since John Elway in the National Football League. Okay. Russell Wilson or Cam Newton during his MVP herbs. You can't just qualifiers. But that cabin. I make the rules wrestles or Cam Newton during his MVP earn two thousand Russell Wilson easily the better player and slightly veteran that MVP year. Russell Wilson are Michael Vick. Russell Wilson Michael Vick was a faster straight line runner. But again, I think the leadership qualities of Wilson, I think Michael would admit this. I Michael when he came into the league. Maturity wise wasn't quite ready to run. A franchise Russell's been ready since he was eight. Wrestle isn't. Or Brett farve surprise here. Russell wilson. I I know. I know what you're saying. By the way, they're both great athletes. They both give MO mobility. They're both great leaders which guy those twenty picks pixie year. It's not Russell Wilson. Brett farve was hard to coach and his judgment. I get all the Russ. I get all the Brett farve upside without the twenty four pixie year. I'd slightly take Russell Wilson. Who by the way, has another six years to Pat all these numbers. Russell Wilson or toy Aikman. Aikman's one of the best quarterbacks in my lifetime. Troy, Aikman bigger, stronger better arm. Now Russell center Steve Young. This is a coin flip. And I'm allowed. On coin flips to call heads Russell Wilson. And I mean by and in Russell Wilson her Dan Marino, Dan Marino. Well, I look at Miami. Go you're getting very test. I don't know how you're gonna survive Twitter today. No, no Camerino literally God gave Dan Marino, the fastest release in the history of the sport big strong. And by Dan Marino's like throw the ball. Or it's already gone. He has a fastest released in the history of the sport. Dan, the man Russell Wilson or late nineteen eighties. John Elway John Elway bigger..

"So Russell Wilson signed the contract now on this show. Most of you think I love the Seahawks and hate the Packers. But I've always believed. Honesty is the key to this show and transparency I would have paid Aaron Rodgers everything they paid them in Green Bay, and I would have paid Russell Wilson everything they paid him. I would love to get a discount. That's not realistic errands. Not made the big boy money yet. He does now Russell's not made the big boy money yet in the NFL. He does. Now it's easier for Brady not because of his wife because Brady's made all those millions Brady's at the end of his career Tom Brady should take financial concessions now to have a better roster. But I get I'm not gonna ask Aaron Rodgers. And Russell Wilson to never take the big check that's unfair. By me. Russell has earned it Aaron has earned it. They should take every penny of it. Now. I do think errands playing nine years from now Aaron should take concessions to have better corners a better pass rushing. A better. Right tackle. But Russell deserves the money. And so did Erin. But I gotta tell you. I think Aaron Rodgers is in a very good spot better than Russell Wilson going forward. The Green Bay Packers realizing two years ago that they were going to have to pay Aaron got very smart about their defense anytime. Erin had a good defense Aaron has one big so two years ago. They drafted a corner out of Washington. Kevin king this past year Giro L Alexander and Josh Jackson. They drafted they're cheap. And they're both Alexander's monster player, then they went out and got mid level free agents. So they have added six potential starters at a reasonable price going forward in Green Bay has a history in recent years of drafting very well. So Green Bay knew they were gonna pay Aaron. And so they went out and said we got to get a cheap defense. We had a draft defense defense defense. They also have two first round picks this year. I would not. Be shocked if Green Bay didn't go back the defense because they have their offensive line settled. So I think going forward Ahrends contract is not gonna be as big a roadblock as Russell Wilson's. But I don't blame Russell. Here's what's happening in Seattle when Pete Carroll left USC and went to the Seahawks. Those first three years two thousand ten two thousand eleven two thousand twelve Pete new the college game he'd recruited all these guys the Seahawks kicked everybody's? But in the draft. They were finding guys in the third fourth fifth sixth round great players, not good..

"You that Russell Wilson. Now plays for years. The hot part is it possible. I don't follow enough of what's going on in celebrity news. But legitimately when you hear about the celebrity marriage is like, oh, it's good for the other person is CR Sierra. You just spend time handsome and do find Hanson's great work along with some other people down there in Brazil with with the wheel Russell. And Sierra she go by Sierra Wilson or she just still era. I think in theory on possible might say that you see aero Wilson. Last name. How did you find her wonderful, really lovely? Let genuinely lovely lady. How about Russell very very nice guy as well. Yeah. They're they're great couple. How did you get any sense from them handsome break some news here? But only I have known as I can break hit Sierra say like, yes. Yeah. Does fine. But it's a little bit far from entertainment centres America, folks that out of me, and I it's not it's not the case chargers. And Rams how about that? Hey, Jared Goff. Like, yeah. He didn't look so good in the in the in that Super Bowl. What if what if you come after here? Russell was weighed. We'd love to be in LA the answer. Those teams that we're talking about as needing a coat about. But when Russell Wilson play this probably only three or four teams that don't want Russell Wilson. So all of a sudden it opens up, you know, twenty five twenty eight rubs that you didn't that could suddenly be in the market for Russell Wilson. And then there's the domino effect of whoever the guy is in that with that team. Gets shuffled down the line. It's exciting that could that could totally change. What we think about the draft three days before the draft happens. It's interesting, and it also kind of sort of supports my idea that we are very close to QB saturation in the NFL. That all thirty two teams are pretty close to having a decent club is holding out who DC the Miami the Miami Dolphins, right? Definitely holding out. They don't want to help you with that part of it. "Hank handsome and spaghetti feel free to weigh in here. How shall we address? This one handsome Russell Wilson. Jack. Del Rio has said. In another space. I think it was on total access year NFL network a day or two ago, he thinks Russell Wilson isn't going to even be a Seahawk in twenty nineteen. So so Russell Wilson has said about a week ago. Now that he wants the deal done on tax day on April fifteenth next Monday that deal needs to be completed and that is what Jack del Rio decided based on that that that there's a good chance that doesn't happen which seems likely it's speaking to you on Wednesday. So there's a few day only a few days left to go. We haven't heard any normally the kind of details would sneak out there either close or not close on a deal. We haven't had anything about the potential of a deal getting done. I also I bide though by our Powell Daniel, Jeremiah's insights, generally kind of tied into these things. He's not recklessly speculating like damasec does I knew pie in the sky. I would like to see that and apply in your stomach as well. Anyway. New keeping my eye on my right, everybody be careful with yourself that cast anyway. I, but Gareth all I mean, the thing that DJ and everybody else will always remind you of is don't believe what anybody has to say. So what what could the Redskins say that would be compelling enough to make garafolo believe? Yeah, that's backed or they or is he just shooting the smokescreen. Josh Rosen still as it happens. I don't think case keenum is the answer. Whatever happens. The Redskins will have another quarterback in addition to case keenum, or instead of case keenum on the roster by the time we get to I would day. I would think so do you think Russell Wilson is a possibility. I mean, if you let's let's think about the teams Russell Wilson isn't when you talk about Russell Wilson, you're looking beyond the teams right now that we know need quarterbacks. The, you know, the cardinals all will, you know, any of the teams that the Broncos that a people talking about taking a team in the in the draft you then expand it to teams that maybe on completely sold on the quarterbacks. So then you know, you've got the Redskins you go those teams. But that may be the Cowboys are a team like wouldn't Russell Wilson in Dallas make sense if they don't one hundred percent believe in Daqing wanna say like we need this guy for the rest wouldn't that be set with one there? You know, there are all kinds of other places then open up like you might you might discover that that the patriots would say Russell Wilson could be an option for. Us. "I'll have to sell you on it. Listen to the show you'll like it, maybe even love it. All right. Gregg, we're back after my my slaughtering domination of you in that last segment where even you admitted that I was probably right at the end. That's exactly what I did. You said it wouldn't surprise you. And that is tacit endorsement of my statement Seventy-three now or seventy four honestly, I don't remember in any case constantly Victoria's. Now, we're gonna talk about Russell Wilson. And why I believe he's going to become the highest paid player in the NFL this off season. So we've been hearing the rumblings Russell wants a new contract. And Russell is very very very aware of the contracts of some of these other guys specifically Aaron Rodgers and by all accounts, it's going to take a record setting deal to keep him. Do you think there's any chance? Seattle moves zone from Russell Wilson. I mean, there's always a chance. This is this is it's weird that the NFL is so predicated on success while your franchise quarterback his own rookie deal. And that's what we saw with the initial Seattle. Oh run. I mean are talking about a team that was able to build up their defense to the point where they were one of arguably one of the best all time all while Russell Wilson was making pennies on the dollar and franchises. Now need to look at their potential futures. And say can we commit thirty two million dollars thirty three million dollars a year to these guys under center. It's it's tough, man. It is tough to for Seattle to sit there and go what we have one of the most dynamic players under center while I guess technically probably more in shotgun in Russell Wilson. But can we field a competitive team around him when we give him this much money? It's it's one of the hardest citizens. I mean, this is why and I always go back to it. And I hate to patriots. They're the worst. But Brady has given them hometown deals over and over again, restructuring take. Less money to make the rest of the. Yes. But he is still getting paid considerably more than your typical rookie contract. No. Of course, he is. But he's also won six Super Bowl. So let's should be. Many opportunities outside of the NFL endorsement wise and things like that that he takes full advantage of. That's that's by the way. Can we talk about how utterly sickening? This Robert Kraft news today. I didn't actually see the news. What happened? So I'm going to read you the article the little bit of this article from pro football talk today. Patriots owner Robert Kraft could have solicitude solicitation of prostitution charges against him dropped with one key condition. "They all got hurt. Breese doesn't get hurt. Russell Wilson junior. Third. Doesn't get hurt head Mr. game. Baker didn't get hurt. He small. So is the you'd want to draft a quarterback to stay healthy. Is that the key? Now. I don't I just I think we get that. Perception that oh, if you're small you're more susceptible to getting hurt, and that's not necessarily the case here. I think when you are shorter or smaller you understand. I think when you're bigger you feel like you're a little more invincible because Andrew look how many times do we see Andrew luck. Throw an interception and then run down to try to make the tackle. And like, what are you doing? Don't Cam Newton. I've seen him pancake is of blocks Rothlisberger gets hurt an awful lot. I think when you're shorter smaller. You end up understanding how to take care of yourself. I mean, how is it that drew Brees? He got hurt when he was in San Diego when he got his shoulder separated. But after that, I mean Brees is been pretty healthy. I think as he missed a game. And I don't think Russ has missed a game in his career in Seattle. He's been injured. But he hasn't missed a game. Also, I was looking at another stat here. I you can check this, mclovin. The first seven years of career. I think there's only two quarterbacks who have thrown more touchdown passes than Russell Wilson. I think Peyton Manning is is one of those. And I'm not sure who the other one is is Dan Marino. So this is the first seven years in the NFL. Most touchdown passes. And I think that it's river I've not rivers. It's Russell Wilson is third on that list. Have you seen that stunt? Oh, yeah. Yeah. So you have exactly right. Dan marino. One Peyton Manning to Russell Wilson. Three Brett Farr for Matt Ryan five most pass teas and for seven seasons and NFL and that watt surprise you. That it's Marino with two hundred twenty then it's Peyton Manning. Then it's Russell Wilson Brett farve. And Matt Ryan you just wouldn't put Russ in their be day one with defense. Right. Isn't that the narrative with those Seahawk seems as a passing quarterback? But I still I think you could made a strong case a year ago. He was his valuable to his team in Seattle as anybody was to their team anybody because it just felt like when they needed something, you know, he was there, and he had great numbers Yarmuk eleven. So we'll he ended up on that top ten list. We talked about his Scott long way to go. I don't know where that team is going though seem to be kinda rebuilding if he had to if they had one that other Super Bowl. Then Russell Wilson. He's he's a hall of Famer. There's no doubt. He's all Famer. Right. He could certainly be anyway. Yeah. But I don't know, you know, Seattle was better than we thought they were going to be. I just don't know how good they're going to continue to be how long has peaked Carol going to continue to coach that defense. Not as formidable will they become a little bit more of an offensive minded team. They became a running team this year. Yeah..

"Well, I wasn't there long enough. You would have had it. That's a good question. Oh, you know this on. I don't know that. Yes, you do. Can clue as he db. Who dare bell? Yes. Okay. DV 'cause stolen. He's coaching somewhere to somebody's somebody's become up. But do you think you'd still hurts him? What happened in the Super Bowl Ross? Well, I think he will. He's a winner, you know. And I think that you know, we were able to get a lot of playoffs. You know? I think he's a great coach. He's a understands the game. Well, helped me in a big way, you know. So I think he should be coaching somewhere. There's a lot of teams that you know, it could be used in for now for sure he's Russell Wilson junior. The third turning thirty on Thursday and he's got the Niners coming up this weekend. Good luck the rest of the season. Good to talk to you. Happy birthday and good luck against the Niners, man. But I thought you said, thank you. That's Russell Wilson. For some reason. He he strikes me as always going to be under thirty like the way he plays. And he looks young to he's hard to picture getting old. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know how he's gonna look when he's forty. Well, the mobile quarterback thing, you know. It's like what is Cam Newton. It'd be like when he forty probably still better still better than ever who is still playing at forty. Of all of these quarterbacks here. So Rogers is Aaron Rodgers playing at forty. Sure, you think. So right. I don't know. Tom Brady's forty one. I know. But I don't it feels like Rogers says other things he wants to do. Those are the guys always stick around the longest the ones who talk about leaving never leave compared to Russell Wilson. We just talked about fifteen things that he's trying to do outside of the game. And keep your business. You got to be playing Tom Brady. I think he plays as much for his brand is for football. Yeah. I get that. He'd be twelve. It doesn't work if he's not playing well TV twelve works better. When he plays better because he didn't go boy, I'm thinking of not eating strawberries, tomatoes, and all somehow be able to throw like Tom Brady, strawberries are bad. I know he's ever had a strawberry. That's a big one for him. Never had a stronger sugars I have. No, yes sugar. But there's sugar in every one of these fruits. I always heard blueberries are very good. They are national antioxidant oxen, you don't want oxidants. I don't know which one I don't know what has oxidants in it. I just know that they market anti oxidants. No, it's pro oxidant. No, they're not. Yes. Mcleod is no oxidant live like lobby. Trying to get more more oxidants. If you're gonna eat a strawberry. You might as well have a chocolate sundae. You're wasting your time you strawberries, straight to your hips. Jokey, but. Hips or your Brady totally rails constructors in the book, but he also doesn't like tomatoes Nightshade. Yeah. I don't even know what that means. I know but with the older quarterbacks rivers, Ben and breezy, our late thirties or putting up numbers that no young. I wouldn't I wouldn't retire. Why that money, and I mean, you saw Marcus mariota carving up. The Texans last night sorta sort of. Yeah. I mean, he threw a bunch of screen passes and took a bunch of stats. But that's what everybody does. Now. They're all little short dumpy passes speaking a witch. Yes. Fritzy? What is that? What we're did that come from? Anyway. With all these quarterback that's longevity. Just keep playing, you know, they'll just keep making more rules to make sure nobody touches you. Thank you. Well, all right. We'll take a break. We're back after this college football NFL football the greatest time of year..

"Now that being said stafford as head very little running support around him and they are in fact the detroit lions yes he had a long time to play we calvin johnson but i'm not saying the fact they haven't won is his fault i am saying though he is now as good as i feel like people were saying he was three or four years ago i don't think he was as good then as he is now but i do think he's a pretty good quarterback and he can do the thing that i think is as important as anything else where quarterback he can make dynamic droves right like that's a big part of a you can make dynamic does you would have the guys out here who simply minimize mistakes but if they can't make dynamic throws on top of that than simply minimize mistakes only goals but so far but i don't think he's ross wilson right i got i do not think that now bidois story made this point where he said if i were an office of coach and i had to design an offense around a player and you gave me the choice of doing give between russell wilson and matthew stafford i would take matthew stafford but if i were a defensive coordinator and i had said aside which guy was more difficult to stop i would rather play against matthew stafford them plague as russell wilson as like hall and his argument is that if you are in office a coordinator then you can't do the timing in the rhythm stuff and everything else russell wilson because his players to and i quote random right they use is going to be out there running around you got no idea what's coming next so how do you call plays how do you design an offense around that but again din on the other side he saying that is difficult to defend now i read so that i think it was dough ferraro ablaze report who had something of that was talking about how this seahawks heavy play it we're russell wilson gets out of the pocket there is a plan for what all those guys are doing so with not totally random but stop and take a moment to think about the logic that's at play here in how weird football coaching india's right the logic that's at play is i've i'm an office of coordinator i would rather have a.

"Because this is what russell wilson was done his entire career but that leads me to the next guy that everybody likes who i compare to tibo coming out of college dak prescott i said then i think he's away better version of tiba with a better arm now since then it does appear heed a much more accurate thrower and i do believe he's a franchise quarterback but zeke now the suspensions back on so this will be the first time and dak prescott career for the next six games defenses will prepare for him no zeke dez bryant hurt jason whitten's old and we will find out in six weeks if he is one of two things is he dak and dunk great throwing little sick charters or as these spectacular he will be one of those two in six weeks because we've always argued what makes a great quarterback and we have a history of being fooled regularly tim table fooled us for about nine weeks russell wilson is what a franchise quarterback looks like no offensive line no running game secondary hurt controversy swimming around that franchise lead the league penalties by a long shot bad kicking game on the road flag football and winning and eric man genie said yesterday on speak for yourself the cowboys still now need to prioritise the run game even without zeke i say the one thing that dallas does have to prove is that they can run the ball with somebody else 'cause zeke is going to get eightman box when when he's in there and if they don't prove that they can still run the ball early it's going to be a lot more splits safety which will make the pass name harder to go and from there let's segue to the nba.
