'cause we talk you and i talked regional programs often and for the most part these. Are you know these are meetings that are done with breeding race in mind. Not there are some the. There's occasions where you know. A regional stallion is on the upswing and some people might latch on. And you end up with what you know what they then turn into a prospect You know because You know happenstance occurs that that makes the full more valuable even than they expected. Yeah that's true The only thing with new york is that you know New york showcase sale for new york breads so And a lot of those new york but by kentucky stallions but You know some people will You know use local salience and occasionally if they have the right mayor and You know sorry but always you know. But they can't hit and they are in demand because of the lucrative state program here and the there's also occasions and If you look at at this roster for instance a horse like disco partner. Hisham Matar Reads Colm Tibn
"Heike sean lowe deborah so the last time that we were doing this together we talked about shakespeare's memory by bore. His one minus one is a very different story a very different kind of story. What draws you to it. Well story. I love but it's also. I wanted to choose a story that i had read in the magazine and remember vividly the the encounter with us and it just affected me very very deeply and a for how simple it is. It is in very subtle ways. It's about such complex things. And i think for that reason over the years since i read it occasionally fought back on it and found more and more layers than us with the stories about a man from ireland living in the us who returns home As his mother is dying. And you've also written in fiction and nonfiction about exile about the loss of a parent about estrangement. There's something in the subject matter that speaks to you or is it more in the writing. Come tobin does that very well in his work at something that he manages to open up. That's space of ruthlessness that has touched very very much. So i'm sure. I'm sure there's a connection. I also have a very slightly embarrassing our relationship to ireland and to irish literature that i think has made me susceptible to us. Don't be embarrassed embarrassing. Because when i was seventeen years old i had come under the influence of all these great irish writers felt so drunk by their brilliance beckett's and enjoys keats and and i thought this is got to be a magical place having never been to ireland knowing nothing about ireland except those writers and i made a promise to myself seventy that where i go to ireland. Must kiss the ground. And i'm not fond of kissing the ground general for that reason to stay true to by seventeen year old self. I never went to ireland. I avoid until. I was shortlisted for a prize. My first book and the price was being judged by a writer that i admire took. Healy passed away a few years back and the mc for the prize was going to be calm toibin. So i thought. I can't miss that i must go and And it was magical but to negotiates kissing the ground. When i got off the airplane. I pretended as though i was betting tiber shoelace and kissed my finger and touch the ground. I thought that's a good compromise. But you know from that trip. Really a group of irish rises dirk mitch and roddy doyle and a few other writers of took me really embraced me and made me feel very welcome and i had such a natural connection and correspondence with them that has stretched for a long time to to this day. And i think it's got to be connected in part at least to some of the experiences that irish writers have gone through sadly whether it's censorship or exile and so they felt they felt very close to me an uber reading these irish writers. Seventeen year old. You were in egypt. I was in cairo My family had left libya but seven years before then and certainly for me. Then there were the most powerful reading experience. If you want to call it does in the english language. Partly because of what i was into but also i think because of what we're

"Roddy so small. Watch this today. I mean the market con of played. What are we not. I mean we. We certainly saw off Throughout the session in fact from the break of yesterday's law yesterday now the die before we move roughly three percent low so you know it was continuing that selling momentum it was starting to increase in the price of which it was coming off but then it reversed and now we've got bullish candles now. The interesting thing for mayo. The most important thing for me is how far we recovered from the low. All of the die we recovered about five point four percent now as much as the only closed off what it close up one point two percent. It's way price came from. Its reading the information accessible on that shot but that candle align its tokes to make it says a lot to me and it's now bullish candle. It's in the cradles. Aren't certainly not a crime. Tried from our point of view given the fact that we do not have that wonderful. Simplicity fantastic trend. But it's there The two days also in that cradles iron as well now not decide that they want further not at all but if we were to move higher i six three. I think thousand six hundred thirty We go to break but this looks like the market is still a little bit on will at wants to do and that the guy in comes from that daily candle it was selling off it had broken. The pride is low. it was. The friday was down. Four point five percent down over three percent at one stage there yet. We bounced back. I want to look at the journey of bitcoin. What it did throughout that some threat session. All to for example there was a little high low in ohio and of course it's not the cleanest clearest transnational another trend that. I'm looking to try but a detroit. Sell off a guy from the cradle zayn and filed. It did not get to move law. The market decided out to the market saw that not. We're gonna continue to move higher. All is it just david pullback before the next ditlow these are things that are right now right now. I certainly still short tried. I have a couple of the that are their modest but a guy. It's the clarity of direction is just not really strong right now especially given yesterday's selloff in pull back up to closing strong will was closing strong close than where it was at its lows of course and of course the ball. We've got something very similar again. Bitcoin was up one point. Two percent closed. I ten thousand five hundred forty. Where now down point four four hundred and seventeen and not ready telling me too much a guy like i said the The cape point ready. The high obviously is closed. Eighteen thousand six hundred thirty bragged that with what you see it. Climb back towards nineteen thousand but again the the there is not a real strong confirmation there of trend on a theory actually looking for short. Yes tonight closed up three point four percent and the guy just to talk you through. I will let kendall tells me from. Its lies to its close. It recovered point full sent. That's my main fate. That's a big move under though it didn't close up three point six percents nothing to be studied that Dying in that cradles the two days still hanging in there with could continue to console it for a while but if the high of yesterday's candle for seven twenty six we might see further nothing really special that exile pay close up four point two percent yesterday which ends up being recovery was on its lies. Fifteen point five percent a big recovery from excel pay still continues to be a quad volatile. Dies saying some big moves up and down quite frequently. There are fifty seven point six cents carney game and one percent today so far with them only just opening about forty minutes ago Bitcoin cash. I'm not really interested in bitcoin. Cash still back within that channel and it's very messy now. It closed up point full of percents stick with the same fame That was a recovery from its lies of five point six seven percent where two hundred and sixty nine dollars right now which is flat on the lot going closed up point five of a percent and as much as there are lower highs and lows and a twelve hour clearly showing downtrend. There's no notebook leah a great short traits to meet the staging a guy and just requires a little bit more patients and two white to say if that market can deliver. What is that. We're off to in terms of confirmation of direction. A guy from its lawyers to where it closed way recovered seven point five percent at seventy seven dollars and eleven so right now down point four percent on the day Still busy guy. Still very messy shot up point three percent yesterday. The recovery on yesterday was fox. Six percent there's not much interest for me for aol. Still it's just not ready. Got himself in any sort of position to be. I guess capturing more tension to eighty rot now. This one of the closed down it closed down one point six two percent now the recovery for they a very messy job was also six point two percent. It's a very horrific looking shot. It is really really ugly. It's lacking a great deal. The four there is a down trend. somewhat it's just not very good in. It's not a child i'm really Sorry considering for any directional trading he hundred sixty nine ninety four Cost to buy one right now. bonnets pulled back the twenty seven dollars closing the One point seven percent which also recovery was from its lows on that support roughly around about full point seven percent. It's the only one in the top ten currently up at some point one of the percents not a great deal and at the twenty eight dollars and nineteen cents a game. A market looked trend. Number four is not bad but without support twenty seven. It's not one that i'm going to be. I'm able to thrive myself out. If i'm honest. Cow donna no no the daily it was up. It was well full point eight percent at a giant recovery from its lies and thirteen bounce back. Thirteen point eight percent from its To where it closed a guy hip. It is a bit choppy. It is a bit messy much assignments. You pretty much majority of the market. There is potential for a shorts It's just it's the now that's really the one that would have more attention more than any of the other time frames at this stage but a guy white for that confirmation. Fourteen point six cents is what will cost you to baucau donna right now which is down point. Six seven of sent yesterday for lake. It was well a three point. Eight percent and the recovery from its lows. It isn't a bit of a downtrend. Rotten handle the smoothest but today recovering from life is nine point six percent of a strong rejection of those laws which is pretty much saying across the entire market yesterday so much we have seen a little bounce off. We're gonna continue haro Pullback for more down with momentum

Berlin Model Y Timeline, TSLA Stock, Consumer Reports Autopilot Ranking
"Everybody robbing our here and today we're going to start off talking about about Tesla stock obviously a tough day for the markets. Today, we have some news on Mata. Why from gigabytes win an update from consumer reports on self driving technology and some news on the Fiat Chrysler Tesla credit situation. So Tesla's stock today was down four point four percent to four hundred and six dollars two cents compared to the Nasdaq down three point seven percent. So I think most of that move tesla was macro driven the S. and P. Five hundred and the Dow Jones Index had their worst days since. June I don't think volatility should be expected. Of course, we're heading into the US federal election next that's on Tuesday and a lot of places. Today are attributing the down market to a continued rise in covid nineteen cases, and in some locations that is causing restrictions that had previously been relaxed to be put back in place. So for example, I'm pretty close to Chicago. We heard today or yesterday that they are closing down indoor dining, and as we head into winter, obviously outdoor dining can be a little bit less appealing. So that can have even bigger economic impact than it would have during. The summer months for example and places like Colorado there at restrictions, doing things like closing down gyms. So we're seeing this all happen at the same time as the election approaches we haven't heard much on another round of stimulus or other. We have heard a lot about it, but we're not seeing any action there yet, and all that seems to be weighing on the stock. But at least at this point in time I don't see a whole lot of fundamental impact for Tesla. I'd be really surprised if had to end up shutting factory again I think eons comments and actions last time. That happened would make it difficult move politically to do that, but it's also not outside the realm of Boston. So we'll keep an eye on things as they develop. All right next up here we've got a story from Tusla Roddy, and before we even get into this unrest GonNa, add a huge preface that this report is just based on one person's interaction with one tesla employees. So a Lotta Times, information like this can just be completely inaccurate, but we're also here just trying find any little tidbit of information that we can. So I do think we're talking about. So test the ratty got. A message from a reservation holder for a model. Y. In the Netherlands and this person told Tesla Rati quote this morning. I got a call from Tesla in the Netherlands with some questions on my order. In that conversation, the Tesla employee told me that they expected deliver my Berlin build model y in q one or q two of twenty, twenty one they had just received an internal update on the billing process and Berlin and quote. So if we again go back to you this nice little timeline that was put together by Toby lend on twitter, we can see that four. Giga Shanghai. It took about five months ago from the first walls being constructed to the first body and and then a little bit over three months after that for first deliveries if Berlin can stay on the same schedule which so far it's actually been a little bit ahead of schedule from what the timeline was for. Shanghai could be looking at the first body and white sometime in January, and then maybe first deliveries sometime around April or may even March, and again that's based on Shanghai and there does seem to right now at least be a possibility of Berlin dragging even faster the other recent information. We got here was from the earnings call when dramatically no. When asked about the use of the pilot for forty six eighty cells and Fremont said quote we can use our pilot production facility in Fremont to support the new factory and Berlin as it ramps and quote. So within twelve months Tesla. Hopes to get that pilot lion to ten gigawatt hours of annual battery production that's a hundred and thirty three, thousand, seventy, five, kilowatt hour packs, and while it's not going to media, we hit that rate it shouldn't be too long from now where the output is you know maybe thousand or two. Thousand packs per month that would seem to hopefully track nicely along with the model why ramp up in Berlin. So again, on book this, saying take this with a grain of salt but to me, this does seem like a pretty plausible timeline q one or to, and this is obviously going to be even more interesting than normal vehicle ramp up would be because of the new technology tesla will be using in the Monowai. From Berlin I think we're all incredibly curious to see what the specs on that vehicle are give thing just while we're on the topic of motto that I want to. Motto I production is just about to explode. Next year I mean think about Tesla said in the ten Q, they're trying to ramp model white production not only in Shanghai not only Berlin but also in Texas in addition to having production of the why in Fremont came out on production on model y over the next two years is going to be incredible and prices are gonNA, come way down on that vehicle as production volume and look Liz ation increase. All right. Let's move onto the next topic here. This is from consumer reports. This got a lot of media attention. Today we're not gonNA spend on the time on it, but consumer reports today came out with their rankings for driver assistance systems, testing such systems from seventeen different automakers, and they actually have Cadillac supercrew coming out on top with a score of sixty nine and Tesla autopilot coming in second with a score of fifty seven. So of course, a lot of attention on this. But as I emphasized in the beginning, this is consumer reports testing for driver assistance systems.

We have first time guest Michael Kosta who used to be a professional tennis player and Return Guest Ronnie Chang. WHO's currently it Australia Michael Roddy. Welcome to ask me another. Five. Thanks for having. US Surani you are in the future right with the time zone. Australia. Is there anything you need to tell US Ronnie? Yeah just wear mask. For the future of. where? Know this is very timely I know to say you used to be a tennis player is it understatement? You were you were a professional tennis player you've written a book about it. You have a podcast called tennis anyone what did you think about the US Open this year I have been completely astonished and proud That tennis has figured out a way to still hold its most major tournaments. I mean they US Open. Was Amazing. You watched world class tennis with zero fans. Yes. which by the way as someone goes to the US Open A lot I love. No fans because New, York fans are the worst. On their phone, they're all. So you it was I was very impressed. I thought I thought tennis has done a great job with it. Do you think some of the pro players were affected by not having the crowd? Yeah I. Mean it definitely helps the underdog. Yeah. Serena Williams is used to playing in front of Twenty, two thousand people. I was used to playing in front of one person two people so. When you're at the low low low and I never even in a tournament like the US Open. But you know you're more comfortable when there's not a lot of people around. So I thought it helped the underdog, but is there a better sport for social distancing then tennis seventy six feet away? Okay we have a couple of great games for you. Yes. Doing let's do it I'd love to play. Okay. So this is a true or false quiz about video games I know speaks to Ronnie's expertise because the last time you on the show we played into the fact that you like rebuilding intendo positions. Yes. Thailand braces for large anti-government rally
"Thailand is bracing for a large anti-government protests tomorrow. The Roddy. Shuttled to take place at university, which was the site of a student massacre decades ago and comes after weeks of demonstration's. The best attended was in the middle of August. When more than ten thousand people marched in Bangkok calling for Political Change, PA me-meeting learn how Students have no choice. We can only come out. We don't want to grow up and have kids ask us when the country was facing injustice for you doing. The protests started off largely as student movements. Different groups of young people around Johnson is the economist Southeast Asia correspondent. We've seen them spread actually in into high schools, and now they seem to be gaining traction among a large segment of the population. What can we expect from tomorrow's protests? We've got two different versions of what's going to happen tomorrow. The protesters' who are organizing the rallies. At Thomas, university anticipate fourteen thousand people coming the authorities are trying to poo poo that. And say you know perhaps it'll be half as many will show up even survey not taking any chances. There were also thousands of police who are being marshalled to keep the event in order, and we've just had actually the deputy minister who is extremely close ally of the prime minister is going to be running the operations into that sexually monitoring the rally. Marta who all these protesters and what's the back story how did they get started? There's been frustration building in Thailand for a number of years the current prime minister and many of his closest henchman seized power in a coup in two thousand fourteen and for while they promised that that would be elections but there wasn't actually one until last year and even when that election occurred the current time constitution ensure that. It wasn't really a level playing field for opposition parties who ran against pro-military potties and others who eventually came together in a coalition and one so that Prime Minister Pray Challenge Child at full McCoy leader could stay in power. So many ties were very annoyed that they had the liberties. Ko they waited many years for an election and then it wasn't savvy the first place and then on top of all that. A particularly, Popular Party led by a very charismatic young politician businessman who basic he got fed up with state of Thailand and decided to become involved in politics. The long. The short of it is that the Ponti Future forward was dissolved earlier this year in February, and that was when we first started to see some flashbulbs few street protests and anger starting to build about the current government. What the protesters want is, is it just the reinstatement of the party or something else I? Think the core protest is believed that this is all moved above. And beyond future forward, a lot of the platform and policies that future forward advocating for things that many of the press testers would like to advance in Thailand more freedoms. An end to harassing opposition activists to protest is also want to see parliament dissolved the crucially they know that dissolving parliament might not do much good until there is a new constitution of the protesters unified what they want. So. That is one particularly contentious issue in all of this, and that's the fact that some of the boldest protesters' have called for reform of the monarchy. The monarchy in Thailand is deeply revered. It's Tabu to to criticize the institution and indeed a less. Law provides up to fifteen years in prison for anyone to be in badly insulting the monarch the current monarch. King. Vajiralongkorn or Rama, the tents took over from his extremely popular father who died in two thousand sixteen and it's been a bumpy road since then as a result for the very first time pretesting and are openly criticizing some of the things that King Vigia along his dumb in particular, they are unhappy with the way in which he has poked crown assets in his own name and they are also unhappy about the fact that he has taken sutton important military units under his pulse no command and a lot of those stationed importantly right in Bangkok so how significant these protests the government. The fact that these protests have been growing since the middle of July slowly, but steadily ease programmatic and the longer they go on the bigger the headache this becomes the government, the students specific and not going away. They're not intimidated by the dozens of people who've been arrested for participating all leading, Maranda? What are the army and the government doing about this? So far it seems to have been a case of wait-and-see. We've seen a few dozen protesters arrested particularly the leadership, but we haven't seen any really tough crackdown and given Thailand's. Of cracking down on student protests, quite bloody manner, and in particular here I'm thinking of events in the nineteen seventies. One Fair on love People's minds is. What happens when the establishment runs short on patients with all of this, it's difficult to say precisely what will happen but the chances all dramatic intervention I think. NEVA'S ERA in Thailand Verandah. Thank you. Thanks so much.
Giga Texas Timeline Update, and the TSLA stock rebound
"Everybody. Robin our here, and today is kind of a Giga Day. We have news from gigafactory Shanghai Gigafactory, Texas gigafactory New York, and then we'll talk a little bit more about lucid ahead of their livestream unveil of the lucid air tonight, and of course, the stock which we can start out with dessel stock on the day to day finishing up eleven percent to three hundred, sixty, six dollars twenty eight cents on the back of a rising macaroni Environment Nasdaq for the day up two point seven percent. So as I said, yesterday, I, hate, stop-loss orders. This is exhibit a for why that is as Tesla today without much news swung back significantly in the. Other. Direction. That's really my only thought on the stock today. So let's move into the news. There was an interesting post this morning on Tesla Motors Clubs Forum by Ridge. Twenty twenty about a possible time line for Tesla's gigafactory in Texas. This user writes quote have some information on the tear factory build schedule. Tesla is sourcing how vendors slash contractors to bid on work at the site and quote this user then shares some screen shots presumably of some documents involved in that bidding, the most interesting of which lays out a project schedule in that project schedule not a first substantial completion date of May I twenty twenty one according to the American Institute of Architects. Substantial completion is quote the stage in the progress of the work when the work or designated portion thereof is sufficiently complete in accordance with the contract documents so that the owner can occupy or utilize the work for its intended use and quote the schedule also notes that the first dry in what happened on December thirtieth twenty twenty I xdrive just means that everything is sort of sealed up with the building shell so that interior work can commence without having to be exposed to the elements, and then in a separate page here that has also included. There's a more detailed schedule noting that in September they'll be doing things like underground electrical, mechanical plumbing, etc.. October would be fencing porta-pottys waste removal metals, recycling recycling removal, and then November would be architectural interiors which based on the dry and date assume would be non weather sensitive into your stuff. So obviously take this for what it's worth. It has just forum posts, but the documents to me look like they would be pretty legitimate I. Don't think there's a ton of reason to doubt it. I. Think for those of us that follow closely this would be pretty much in line with our expectations. This will be going from breaking ground to possibly production ready in under a year which we know Tesla is targeting based on their work active factory Shanghai originally and now With gigafactory Berlin as well. Speaking of Shanghai Tesla continues to make rapid progress at the gigafactory. They're the global times earlier. This Week reported that Tesla has completed the main section of phase two, which is for the Mata why and they write quote at present interior decoration and electromechanical testing being carried out and are expected to be completed on schedule in October and November and quote not exactly sure what interior decoration needs to be carried out and completed. I'm guessing that's probably something that's lost in translation probably more equivalent you interior design meaning, functional interior design. But regardless, we continue to see these reports about phase two in Shanghai though the Global Times appears. To also expect production to begin for the Monterey in one though they do cite other media reports on that which we have talked about. Personally, I'm still expecting some motto is to come out of gigafactory Shanghai. This you're probably not enough to be immaterial to quarterly results or the financials but more. So again, sign heading into twenty twenty one which cannot believe were that close to you already shifting back to the US and over to the energy side of the business with Peissel's gigafactory. In New, York a different type of gigafactory Tesla. Roddy today posted an article with the headline of quote vessel energy ramps hiring AC in New York for accelerated solar production and. Quote you on did actually re tweet this article in which Tesla Roddy writes quote a source familiar with the matter who spoke to Tessa. Roddy talk to employees at the plant who indicated the facility is currently operating on a twenty four hour schedule six days a week to keep up with demand. Altogether, this move seems to confirm the eighty eight acre location is accelerating solar production and installation insignificant way which coincides with the company's growth and the energy sector and quote while energy storage has definitely grown historically solar has actually been quite slow Tusla recently, which I think was correctly pointed out by Gordon Johnson in our bowl baird debate. So if we go. Back to two, thousand, seventeen, for example, cutie, Tesla deployed one, hundred, seventy, six megawatts of solar energy versus this most recent you only twenty seven megawatts of solar. There are a lot of reasons for that. The business model has shifted significantly but right now it's not at the point that at once what's Tesla's hope? Of course is that the solar roof changes that about which started in their cute you letter that quote solar roof installations roughly tripled in Q. to compare to key one, we continue to expand our installation team to increase the deployment rate and quote of course, this is a new product so to starting from a very low base for Tesla from. But hopefully, that growth rate continues we've also recently seen tesla cut their prices significantly for rooftop solar. Now, offering the lowest price systems in the United States at least at a dollar forty, nine per watt after incentives under cutting other systems and the US by about thirty percent on average. So plenty of reasons to be hopeful that Tesla is on the precipice returning to growth for the solar business and are on their way to finding a business model that works for them consistently for solar going forward. Next today on into provide an update to yesterday's discussion on delivery wait times. I've seen a few comments noting that those have changed for people today they have actually changed for me as well. So the model y currently sets for the all wheel drive version at seven to eleven weeks for me here in the Midwest two to four weeks for the performance for the Model S. and the Model X. Both of those currently sit at eight to twelve weeks versus yesterday's ten to fourteen. Weeks and the model three has held steady for all trims at two to four weeks.

Debating the Ahmaud Arbery case
"Equa mercy. Join his acklin great to see you. Did He. How dare you? How dare you? This is my house and you're wearing yenkey stuff. Scion unapologetically hello. All right well I just hope that during our debate I do better than the mets do against the Yankees that's. Hoping all right, let. This is what we're GONNA to talk about is the video. The video and the Aubrey case is an amazing piece of evidence. For the prosecution against the McMichael's because you see everything they do. Those are the two guys with the guns in the pickup, one of whom shoots and kills armory. But I think unfortunately. It's a great piece of evidence for the man who is recording that video. Roddy Brian Acklin you do not agree with me. Do not you are wrong. You're wrong. All right I'M GONNA go first, and it starts here and I say unfortunately and I want to preface that folks I'm not making an argument for Roddy. Brian what I'm telling you is what's going to happen and unfortunately this is a great piece of evidence for Roddy, Brian, this video and it comes down to the arguments that Kevin Goth is attorney. Make look at the facts surrounding the video, the only person on the face of the earth who knows this video is being made and being recorded at the time. It's being made in recorded. Is Roddy Brian Okay. He's the only one that knows. That this video exists. He's the only person on earth okay. So, if in fact, prosecutors are going to argue that these three men are working as a lynch mob. Are they going to argue that Roddy Brian's job as part of this lynch mob is to Corral And make sure that you record the lynching, so we can memorialize all of this. And don't forget how everyone finds out about the recording. Roddy Brian at the scene. Invites police into his truck to view the video, so police show up there. Just investing you try to figure out what happens and Ronnie Brian. Tells Police. Listen I got I've got it on video. I, recorded it. Please take a look at it. Shows it to them right then and there. So. Again. Unfortunately, the argument that Kevin Goth can make is lazy. Let's go inside the body Brian. What's his intent? Here was his intent to lynch. Ahmad Aubrey. If so, why would he record a crime? And then why? When police show up the first thing he would do is hand over to police the evidence of the crime that he committed. This goes one hundred percent into the mindset of Roddy Brian and this is a strong argument that Kevin Goth can make to a jury. that. Why on earth would someone record their own crime and then the first thing they do when police show up? Is hand the piece of evidence over to them. ACKLIN. Arguing was very compelling in sense. It's you can tell that you're not racist. By the argument that you provided because we did not include the racist element. Ronnie, Brian in the Michael's were racist, and they were on age racist Tirade. That is why they went around. That is why they have video. As you can see back in the day when they did lynchings in wasn't prided, they had videos. They need pictures of it because they were excited about what they did. We are in a world in which we have Presidential rallies in which races tirades are invited so to to be to say that Haiti's men weren't in building would be wrong. They were in bolted with regards to the back surrounding the video. Let's talk about it the fact surrounding videos. Let's talk about the video. When he was I invited. It was no audio I. Don't know I have that function in my recording in the sense in which I can record a thin ideo in not on your. You know who had the. Mr Brian. We didn't hear the shock in the basement of something that somebody about to die. Why because that million participating in now? He missed a whole big piece of evidence in that pieces of Ahmad. Berry was found on missed the giants car. Pieces that means that evidence of Mr Bridge that means that he hit. The armory with his car to prevent him for movie. To say that he was unarmed is wrong. Mr Robin Mister Bryant had the biggest weapon it at the time. Which is the whole vehicle? Truck with a whole trump down at he did his way, even had that man was cool hand Luke because he was watching a murder, and nobody asked for the audio initially because he was a murder. You know who that the cops you had racist cops come to a racist situation. Leave. The racism states okay hit him with the high side and let him live for three months. Months without any interruption to say that Mister. Bryant wasn't guilty is a farce. He was very much guilty at an end for three months. They watched a video and immig miles. What because they were able to stop? Being friends after Arboretum was shot and killed, they were still friends. They still had the video. They watched it so much, so daddy opened the door to sexual crimes. The this, this case should shock the conscience because the levels of racism in this case is unreasonable, we act three different prosecutors. This prosecutor who saw this in didn't think that this was a murder. We had officers at the scene saw this. In, dot, this which justify so the the Glenn Races. When the most important that evidence of our very being on righties car was still on his car. Three months acted incident and nearly care to wash off so. That that is that the video helps Brian. Totally doesn't work acting that. You didn't plinking most so. The prosecutors are going to argue. That Roddy Brian. Was Racist which they can. Was In cahoots and knew the police would not charge him, which is why he shared the video with police, and knew the process and shared it with the prosecutor because he knew the prosecutor would never charge them, is that do you think that is? An argument that is going to fly with the again. This I'm saying. These are all unfortunate facts for prosecutors in this case, and the prosecutors are going to have to prosecute. Roddy Brian. The McMichael's the local Glenn County Police and the prosecutor's office all in the same trial in order for that theory of yours to to not help. Roddy Brian? Welcome welcome to the practicing law. The South the levels of racism is so appeared like many I. I have to think of Armagh. Arbitrary. That I may get I get that I. Get that, but here's my point. My point is this makes that video the fact that he shoots video and there's more obstacles now. Prosecutors unfortunately again that and to me the obstacle is not only do I have to prosecute these three men. I've got to prosecute the local police and I've got to prosecute the local prosecutor and guess what I'm probably going to have to do it in Glynn County. Georgia. That makes the case more difficult. It's like it's like A. It's like a harper. Literally, but this is what in is in the south? We Wanna say that we come. We've come so far, but that's what it is, and that's how that's how big it is. That's how big it is I think we're agreeing here Hear me out here me out on my theory and why we're agreeing okay, because we're. We're making to arguments that are. not necessarily in conflict everything you're saying. I'm I'm agreeing with. Right. I, just have to get you to agree with the fact that the case is a little bit harder against Roddy Brian with him shooting that video and handing it to police, because now prosecutors have to take on the police and the prosecutors right so. Can we agree on that yes? Yes, all right all right I think we solved it. I think we did. This is a big moment, but I will not ever. Ever cheer for the Yankees. Especially when they play my mets, that will never happen, but I think we can agree here. To a certain extent that the there's going to be some obstacles here, but I think what you have shown me. And made me realize how you look at the case. You know I look at the case a certain way, but I have to get a different mentality onto to to get to that next level. So? Wow Acklin, always great having you on the show for having go Yankees got. That will be her last time on the show by the way. Either that or we can edit that out next time. We'll just bleep it out. Right Acklin mercy, incredible criminal defense attorney. In Georgia knows Georgia law. Insider knows Georgia juries, which is the most important part of of trying to case when we come back. I WANNA, talk about hate crimes, because at the time of the Amman archery shooting there was no hate crime. Law in Georgia and people were. Besides themselves coast to coast. When you come back I'm going to explain to you why it's really not a big deal. Especially in this case, number one and number two. Hate crimes. Are Way too over height by the media.
Netflix is Hollywood
"Where are we? We are in Los Angeles. We're about to turn onto sunset. Boulevard Hollywood maybe in Hollywood. Okay, so we're. We're approaching. Hollywood hills. Really Tall Palm Trees. So should we explain why we're? We're driving through sunset radio. There's a bunch of billboards here, right? That's what we're. Getting at. Less Ronnie our producers, etc piled, a newborn, took a drive down Hollywood's main drag. It's a traffic jam packed with billboards promoting new TV shows and movies. I've been covering the business of media for a long time, so I served as tour guide for this trip, but Ronnie is a data reporter who mainly writes about tech companies. She doesn't typically pay a lot of attention to what's going on in Hollywood. Here, we have a a the crown net flicks up on the right. Have you watched any of the crown yet? I have not. On the left we have marriage story billboard. This is a Scarlett Johansson. I don't think I want to watch that. You may not be the right person for streaming roddy in a row. We got the Irishman. That's Scorsese's film and then DOLEMITE is my name. Reading that right. Alfie, these are both movies. They're both movies. You can see on Netflix Sega. Any of these this is this is a worthwhile trip for learning. What's on Netflix? You could just actually go to your browser. Are these like already outer. These are like I don't know. Someone like hermetically sealed raising. A drive down, sunset isn't just a chance for Ronnie to see what's coming on. TV, it's a way to watch Hollywood talking to itself, these billboards are messages which are very much directed at Hollywood except now. netflix's doing most of the talking. Stranger things net flix. The politician. Net flicks, one billboard tuna flexible work three Netflix. Netflix well years ago when Netflix was first getting into its own programming. Executive there told me that because they were tech company. They didn't have to do things that traditional media companies do like renting billboards, so it could show big-name talented netflix serious about Hollywood. That guy turns out was wrong. Netflix has decided loves billboards so much that it went out and bought some for itself, and now the company owns many of the signs on the Strip. This, you still look like before streaming. That's one of the main ideas we keep running across as we're working on the series, it's almost impossible to imagine what the world like before Netflix. Even though that time was just a few years ago. If you didn't know any better, you'd think. Netflix's has always been a huge part of Hollywood. Syphilis can be fatal to your baby free. Check that out not flick show. UNCLEAR UNCLEAR? Welcome the land of the giants. The NETFLIX's effect. I'm Peter Coffee. Today. We're talking about how NETFLIX's. Would outsider that no one took seriously took over the town and change the lives of the people in it. Are the CO founder and CEO of Net flicks. I'm going to conduct this interview netflix style. I'M GONNA. Have like five questions you're GonNa love and five thousand. You've never heard. Today. It's given it. NETFLIX's remade. The media. World to companies becomes so omnipresent in our lives that CEO Reed. Hastings even counts as a sort of celebrity. He's a big enough deal for a guest spot Stephen Colbert. You're like one of the big one of those big new media disruptors. Why did the entertainment industry need to be disrupted? Just for the fun of it. On this happened really quickly. We talked to Kim Masters veteran show business journalist at the Hollywood reporter who said that a decade ago Netflix's was an afterthought for big media companies newcomers from Silicon Valley or anywhere else did not strike fear in the hearts of moguls. There's a thing that happens in Hollywood. Which is the outsiders come in, and they think boy. There's a lot of stupid rules in Hollywood and people sure do dumb stuff, but we're going to be much smarter than these idiots, and then they get kilt. It turns out that Netflix was the exception to the rule. It didn't get killed at one. And NETFLIX's did it with Hollywood's help. You can trace all this back to two thousand eight, which is when Netflix's really broken into streaming by getting his hands on a bunch of blockbuster movies for a bargain, Ben, price, it had made a deal with stars premium cable channel. Let netflix's stream always rate movies from Sony and Disney so stars had created the service called Vong which nobody listening to this podcast is GonNa Remember, but there was a service before Netflix's. That was streaming. Streaming movies called. Longo Van Gogh was losing seventy million dollars a year. Rich Greenfield is an analyst with light shed partners. He's been following digital media closely for years, and in walks, Reed Hastings in Ted Sandoz and says hey will take that streaming content. You could sub-licensed to us and we'll pay you. Tens of millions of dollars Netflix's use it as the base to build their streaming service, versus what was historically just a DVD service. And the rest is they say is history.

And then we'll discuss some predictions for what could be the top song of this summer of two twenty, twenty Jason loves talking about songs of the summer, but somehow I've yet to convince him to join the Movement for other seasonal lists and rankings such as the top winter jams. Or the most awesome autumnal ditties I just think why Jason. You don't like anything but songs of the summer why? I do like song of the fall. That's my number two just because I kind of like you know last year you had a song like the weekends. Heartless commander November, and it's just like a good fall song like it's. It's a little chilly It's a little bit more introverted but the thing about the song of the summer is that it's it's iconic. What we mean when we talk about song in the summer. A song that you associate with a specific time in your life, a song that is ripe for partying and gatherings Of course during summers, where such things are allowed and you know but anyway I. Love It. Let's get into it. Let's on this summer I some finer points on. Al Billboard actually compiles its annual song. The Chart the charts which you can actually find on billboard right now is a running tally that tracks the most popular songs based on cumulative performance on the weekly billboard, hot, one hundred chart, and that's from memorial. Day through Labor Day here in the United States and this year those charts encompass the charts dated June sixth through September fifth, and at the end of the. The season, the top song of the summer, basically is the top song in terms of overall performance on the weekly, hot one hundred during that span of time, and will reveal that shortly after Labor Day, right now to babies, rockstar featuring roddy rich is number one on the twenty twenty song of the summer chart while in the mix in the top ten or songs like Megan, these million savage between beyond say and the weekends blinding lights. Yes, so we'll get to this year, and and how this is a more competitive year than than some years past including last year. But now that we know how we would determine the song of the summer for the year. Let's go back in time Keith. And revisit what the number one song! The summer was for each year from two thousand nine through twenty nineteen. I WANNA. Point out that we actually have a song of the summer determined for every year. The hot one hundred has existed all the way back to nineteen fifty eight, so if you want to check out every number one. For, each summer, every song of the summer back from Nineteen fifty eight to twenty, nine, hundred nine. You can do that on Dover Dot Com. Just do a Google search for summer songs, nineteen, thousand, nine, hundred nineteen. It'll pop right up. You'll be good to go tested at actually works. That's. It's better than saying. GO TO BILL DOT COM slash chart dash beat slash one five dash two three. You know it easier. It's easier to do it this way. Well I up. We've got two thousand nine song of the summer. It's the black-eyed peas I. got a feeling. Let's take a listen to a little bit of it now. That tonight it's GonNa, be. Good I. In. The summer of two thousand nine belonged to the PS. They actually have the numbers, one and two biggest songs of the summer that year as boom boom POW was number two. The two tracks were so huge in two thousand nine that I got a feeling spent fourteen weeks at number one on the hot one hundred and actually replaced boom boom POW at number one, which itself had spent twelve straight weeks atop the list so. So from the April Eighteenth, two thousand nineteen chart through October, tenth two, thousand, nineteen, hot, one hundred chart, the PS were number one every single week with either boom boom, POW, or I got a feeling which is pretty insane.

"And there's just something about it and I think you know even just talking to him and him leave the room I mean. He still carries that chip on his shoulder. And I think that's why you know. Roddy such as Goals his side so high and works his ass off to this day but certainly a game changer. And a guy who probably didn't get enough credit back in the day when Hulkamania was running wild but when they had wrestlemainia one had it not been for. You know the The abrasive heat-seeking nature of Roddy Piper. I don't know that they could have pulled that off as successful as they did. And you know Hogan was certainly hot but he was going to get hotter as years would go by so it wasn't like Hulkamania was in full effect. This was wrestlemainia. One was the launching ground for you. Know Vince McMahon proved a lot of guys wrong and Obviously now we as we go into Wrestlemainia thirty you know. I don't think it Piper gets enough credit for being the performer and the character and personality is a better description that he was and so The Piper's pit some of the most Entertaining segments and history of pro wrestling. That's right pro wrestling so anyway. It was funny just to sit here and talk to him. Because it's the longest avid karate and like he stated at the beginning of the conversation. He really didn't know anything about me. He saw an interview. I conducted with another guy and said. Hey Austin actually paid some dues Austin kind of bend down a parallel road that I've been in so it kind of hey developed a little bit more respect for me because he realized I came through on the back end of the territory days and then I wasn't handed a career on a silver spoon. So anyway talking to the man face to face is truly an honor and a privilege again. Thanks to Roddy for coming in here and drop it so many great stories and I hope to have him back and we'll talk about more things in ribs and Shenanigans on the road and dissect a few matches All depend on rowdy. Roddy Piper's schedule before I leave. Pay My respects to my young May Young recently passed away. And I'll tell you what We used to always go to Monday night raw. And they'd bring Mayen with the fabulous Moolah and they they'd be doing some kind of Gig or something like that that was always fun and May- young always had a smile on the face as did Moolah. She's one of the nicest ladies I've ever met in my time in the business of professional wrestling as you just adds little loved. Everybody and was such a sweetheart. She paid some heavy duty. Dues herself way back in the day. Women's wrestling you talk about a wild frontier does Those ladies really had a hard road and she was one of the original people who break into business. She holds the distinction of being the only professional wrestler to Russell matches nine different numerical decades having her first match in nineteen thirty nine in our last match in two thousand ten and she made so many contributions to the business may young. "I'll tell you it's a little tough to it on video here We've talked about it. All on the PODCAST. Roddy was was one of my best friends in the business and The last time I'd seen Roddy in person about a year before he passed we were here in Houston and Anna. Brought my daughter out. We had dinner together. We spent we spent two days together here in Houston Reconnecting and talking about the future and making plans for the future. I did I did as podcast. You put my daughter on who was wrestling at the time amateur. She fell in love with Roddy so much. She named her dog Rowdy Piper. Special Friend Special Man Helped me out through through some of the worst periods of my life from getting fired twice When my dad died Roddy Piper on their forget called? The hospital Without former that woman was in the in the hospital Roddy Piper called the hospital. Find me just tell me love me make sure I was. Okay We were we working together. We were talking about doing some different things with rocket fizz. We were planning on doing a two man show kind of like what you and I do now. And we had a tour setup in in Texas and then we were going to go to the UK to do these two man shows. We had big old back and forth and the night the Roddy passed I was in rockport. Texas am iphone rank and I went to pick it up and there was no one there. I got a alert. I don't know twenty minutes later. And it says miscall. Aw voicemail. Roddy Piper tried to get the message. That night didn't I didn't think anything of it was late. The next day away Forgot about it and friend of mine called me and says hey did you hear like what is this. Roddy won- thinking thinking 'cause Rodney had just made some outrageous statement on TMZ like a week or two weeks before. And I just talked to him. You know like three days as before that all God what do you do now. And he was like. He's gone and my phone starts. You know how it happens. Bad News travels goes fast and I started getting these messages. And I don't believe it. So I call goes voicemail and I go go back to that message and listen to the message and he tells me he had been up in Canada working on his book and he says hey man. I don't feel I'm not feeling really well which you never heard from. Roddy Piper. His is like I'll be fine. He goes. I'm not feeling well. I'm tired I'm going to go to bed. I just wanted to call and tell you I love you. I was when last calls he made and He was gone and I miss him. God I miss him very very very very special man Love him to death. His his kids were his life. His family was his life He adored his wife. Kitty a surprise. I mean God is girls and then Colton So tough one and I love Roddy Eddie Piper a mess Roddy Piper and he will go down as when you talk about icons and in the wrestling business. Roddy Piper's right there. Well I I don't know what to say after that. I aw I think all of us are Roddy Piper fans and we appreciate all of his contributions to the business and some of us weren't as fortunate to know the man that that you knew but His legend lives on and professional wrestling in here out here on the network where you can see some of his biggest moments of his career career that we all sort of grew up on suburbs. These days rotties legend. Lives on with rowdy. Ronda Rousey she she has a t shirt styled after him. She famously wore his jacket to the ring. And I'm curious what you think of that. Some old go wrestling fans don't really like it but as a wrestling fan in Iran Fan. I think it's pretty cool. That she sort of paying them is to the legend. That is Roddy Piper. Well Lemme alleviate anybody's fears. I can guarantee you that Roddy Piper is looking down with a big eggs smile on his face and with a ton of pride to see Rhonda Rousey enter the WWE. He was a big Fan of hers. Lou Duva and Ronda Rousey and I know that she was a big part of rotties life and he followed her career he loved her and was always trying trying to tell her. You need to get into the business. You need to be over here. So having Ronda Rousey celebrate Piper. Every time she comes out and and the whole the whole t shirt when Rhonda Rousey I came out of the Royal Rumble and was wearing the jacket. I remember watching that and say that looks. Just like Piper's jacket because that Jack was so iconic to me the son of a bitch never took it off okay ward everywhere so Ronda Rowzee I I know for a fact that Roddy is so proud of her right now looking down at his happy as can be and she's doing the legend and she's doing the whole name Rowdy Roddy Piper a huge service by represent him in the right way and I I wish another the best man. I think it's great. And.

"A chess game and roddy could be difficult to deal with? But I always go back to as long as you know. What the hell you're dealing with? And you know how to deal with it. You can work your way through the minefield and then choose me for a lot of that. Ah Roddy and I were friends but he also respected me and he could get roddy to do things that Vince couldn't get him to due by asking him in a different way and if it was coming if I could look at Roddy and say Roddy this is coming for me especially in later years when he knew that. Okay like with with the smackdown. So I know this is coming from Bruce and I had a lot of input from Roddy ahead of time I would get his input beforehand and he felt that I was working with him and thought that okay. If it's coming from Bruce he gave me a lot more leeway then he did other people and I you know I enjoyed that and I didn't abuse it a shot straight with him and then returning shot straight with me. Well of course he shot straight into the hall of fame in two thousand five. He was welcomed back here and Finally finds his rightful spot in the hall of fame and the the very next night at wrestlemania finds himself on. Piper's pit with stone cold. Steve Austin pretty cool little wrestlemainia Moma here for Piper. I thought it was. I thought it was great because to me it was two icons in the ring. It was the past and the present and for those guys to be in the ring together up. It's just one of those cool moments in it's a cool wrestlemainia moment when you go back and look at History Piper refunds himself back with the company again this time as a tag team champion of all things and two thousand six with his buddy ric flair. How the hell does this happen? Bruce Bruce Again. What if hot rod and when you think about about it this is where that dangerous is? I always say. Be careful what you suggest because it could just happen. You Know Rod came back was an assault thing with ric flair. They we're friends man. There was no plan to make Roddy Piper ric flair. The TAG team champions. It came up in an agents meeting where where you're sitting there and somebody says what if Rick and Roddy won the titles. I love it the next thing you know. They're the champions. Then you go. What do we do now? You know who's GonNa take it off of them. Where the hell did we go? It was a nice little nostalgia. Time period moment That's all it was and it was for a short time to Kinda get us get us through but it was Nice Jason. I thought that it it played well on the shows with a nice mixture. Did something interesting happened during this run on with Roddy that involved the tag team called the highlanders. Well now what are you talking about. I know that he really liked like those kids. Because of the kilts and everything what what are you talking about Conrad. Allegedly one of these guys decided to take his kids to Orlando Lando to theme park. Oh the sides. While he's down. They might catch wrestling back. Oh yeah that had nothing new Rodney. That was just the highlanders were were there for Orlando and yeah one of them had their kid and TNA took the shot of him him in the amusement park he was at universal city with his kid and went in to see the wrestling and they shot him and put him on air so he was asked to go home. Why would you put yourself in that situation now? The smartest move who makes the call. What's the sound like Aw well kind of be like. Hey is this highlander. Is this rob your rory hundred. which won't well? Hey did you go to TNA today hurry you're fired by the way bents yours. The great today. Oh my Gosh What is what is Piper? Wind up having to drop the tag titles feels like it happens opens pretty abruptly because they were never supposed to be the tag champions come on it was. It was a one off. Let's have a happy moment on TV. And now you gotta take off of them. It was never meant to be and it was just okay. We'll do this and it was another another week of television. Well hoping you will give me the real answer. which was he? He was diagnosed with cancer. And I assume that you probably had well recession about that. Yeah but but all that hid. That was actually even before you know he had the the championships for the won the championships campionships. He had been diagnosed with cancer and Roddy and had a rough rough time. And we had special on there because of my wife's cancer battle and we we talk and he would go on about the different treatments and the fact that you know he he was fighting and he was beating it so the when he'd come back he had already been diagnosed with cancer and he was just doing what he needed to do. He was gonNA fight and one thing. Roddy Roddy was was a fighter and he wasn't going to give up but that that was all during that whole that whole time there he was fighting it and he didn't want it to disrupt his life in what what he did. So stuff goes down with Mickey Rourke at Wrestlemania and of course pipers involved oft wise Piper. Always the go-to for the celebrity and Wrestlemainia for Vince McMahon. Because he is a celebrity and I think Roddy was was one of the stars that transcended the WWe and was recognizable outside simply from they live. I mean it's a cult classic and Roddy was considered a movie star in Roddy was known in Hollywood. Ronnie had a ton of these direct to DVD movies. He did a lot of acting he did a lot of things and he was revered in Hollywood There were guys that they looked at from the wrestling business. Hollywood Roddy was at the top of the HEAP so he fit. He fit in with those people. Something that never really quite fits me is the interesting relationship. The Piper had with Jonny fairplay who was a contestant on a CBS reality show survivor. What do you know about this weird fair-play Piper relationship? Roddy always had someone that would be with him to help him get through the airports because Z.. He didn't like dealing with people in the airports he. Didn't you know they're always be people that would recognize him and he wanted somebody to be able to say no you know autographs carries bags handle his arrangements. He was doing a lot of other things so it was kind of manager handler type role. I didn't know Johnny during that time but it was. You know I heard about it. And he had his run of different people over the years that were in that role role in Johnny was one of them. allegedly almost killing him in a car crash. Some point but There's different stories on that as well. From from Roddy side were uh-huh Crotty felt Jami was literally trying to kill him when he wrecked the car from Johnny side. Just like it was an accident and Piper went crazy but only those would no I guess Kevin Nash had an incident online with Roddy Piper. I Guess Piper had a podcast and he told the story about a backstage incident. WCW and Kevin. Nash didn't exactly remember going down like that. So they had a little social media or back and forth. The you know what. The relationship was like with Kevin Nash and Piper. It does feel sorta out of character for him to beginning into into little fights like this because he had a similar deal deal with stone. Cold Steve Austin who had a podcast on podcast. One which is where pipers was and I guess Austin was upset. Maybe that's the the the allegation that Piper has put out there about an impression that had been done on Piper's show and is back and forth and Piper Woodside that Austin got him fired repot castle and also deny that and say Piper was really just trying to create an angle. What do you make of these sort of weird situations nations with both Kevin Nash? And Steve Austin just before Roddy passed away. I don't know that Roddy really had a relationship with Kevin Nash. I remember the twitter wars ars and all that but then finally when they got on the phone and talked amazing everything was settled. Everything was squashed. What happens a lot of times? People will remember member things one way their version how they saw saint person same scenario they will remember it in a completely different way just like here. I'm giving you my aversion. I'm giving you how I remember things and my experiences during the time other people in the same situation may remember it differently and I think that's all that happened with the podcast one situation with Steve Austin and all that I heard Bo stories from Roddy I heard you know that. Roddy head head quit that Roddy was fired or not. Fired actually left but Her Steve was involved. Her Steve wasn't involved. So only those those guys know the truth but when I heard Bo stories from Roddy at tend to believe leave the you know the first one was. Hey I'm I'm leaving. I'm going to go do my own thing. And then he goes to do his own thing and then it was. We'll wait a minute. This other other story came up so I don't know if it was roddy creating something right to make bigger news to make more of the splash when he debuted somewhere else. And I don't really know I don't know what is what his motive was there. Of course by famously are infamously honestly passed away far too young died sleep and He had predicted on. Hbo Years Before that he knew he wouldn't make sixty fifty five. What are your last memories of Roddy? Because I know in real life you guys were thick as thieves and this had to be a big beal for one of your friends to.

"Would you look at the Goodness it's rowdy. Roddy Piper up out the look at all good man who has found out the night before we found out the night before the Halloween show. I called Roddy and I asked him what he was is doing. I'd heard about it and I wanted to know if it was true or not and they wouldn't lie to me and he told me that they had offered him a deal and it was nothing personal. He was feeding his family and a sedan. Could you not have come to me. And and and said Hey. They've offered me this deal. See if we could match it or beat he says you can't match. You can't beat it and I've already signed I've given my word and this gentleman you know I'm I hope you'll respect that. What we what can you do he? He didn't lie to meet. And try and Kami swerving. He was straight up. Honest about it And I understood his position you know he probably got a hell of a deal. There never told me what it was and it was something that he felt he needed to do with done. Before Piper came back with the company he wound up doing a shot for TNA. And he's in the ring with Vince Russo. Sort of taking Russo to task for the Owen. Hart accident did you ever Talk Piper about I did and I just I. I guess I express my confusion about it I didn't like it I you know. Obviously I've never talked about that and I won't won't talk about it because it's just too personal to me but roddy was roddy. Roddy Roddy wanted to be controversial and felt that that was real and that people would gravitate to because they would say. ooh that something. You weren't supposed to touch right karate. It is something you're not supposed to touch and it was a cool and I think he got it after a while but in the moment I think he was just thinking what are we going to. How are we going to get people talking? And that's why they did it. Well people were talking Wrestlemainia Wrestlemainia Hulk Hogan and Vincent Man in the middle of a match and we see the return of Roddy Piper. He comes in wearing a trenchcoat in reveals that he has a a pipe and it looks like he's going to attack one way and then wads up going another. How does this whole deal come together? He'd been gone from the company for a long time. And it feels like this is just off the left field. Where did you guys put this deal together for him to return Wrestlemania in nineteen? I think it was the Thursday or Friday night before Wrestlemainia and Vincent I were alone talking about the show and talking about different things we could do you. He kept going there. Something we can add another surprise is there. Is there something else we can do. And we got to talking about his match with Hulk and and different things we could add as this. Is anybody out there. That would be a surprise. That could be a holy shit moment. We were in Seattle. Roddy Piper lives right outside of Portland brought up Piper. I was usually always always the one to bring up Piper. For whatever reason he was a friend I love the character and I just loved Roddy Piper And to my surprise Vince call him. I called him right there and got on the phone. What are you doing he was home? What would you say if I asked you to come? Be a surprise Wrestlemainia some sitting here with this. He's right in front of me. What do you think is what do you want me to do? So don't know yet but you would be involved in the match between Hulk Doc. And Thence said there's anybody that belongs in that in that match that rivalry that you and and he said I'm available. Can you get down here tomorrow as yeah I'll drive down because he didn't WANNA fly any didn't WanNa be seen at the airport or anything like I bet Soroti flew down. I had my brother Tom. meet him in the truck delivery in the hotel. We snuck him up. The elevators in the service elevators got him in a room and he stayed there until Wrestlemainia and we brought him over people. I thought he was just there is an old timer signing autographs special appearance by Roddy Piper..

"Jerry lawler caller nine thousand nine hundred ninety. Four things really get kicked off. When lawler has a kid on the king's court doing an impersonation of Roddy Audie Piper? What are your member about the feud this kid and of course Pat King of the Ring Mats with Jerry Lawler? Wow well first of all. We didn't have a lot of dates on Roddy and Roddy had this idea. Roddy was carrying in Iraq carrying around like a high eight camera. Or I don't know what what generation it was but rod carried this portable camera around everywhere he went and Roddy was documenting. Things in the airport. Roddy was doing youtube. Live and facebook live before there was a facebook and the Youtube and he was shooting this stuff and sending it can use this. This is Roddy Piper eating lunch one day this is Roddy Piper running into a bum one day and feeding him this is Roddy Piper having an altercation with the a rental car company and it was it was good stuff off. I should know what the hell do with it. So Roddy shooting a lot of these things back and forth and we tried to incorporate some of them when we didn't have him available for TV and things of that nature and so it was. It was different but we had the two a big mouse. Roddy Piper and Jerry lawler and they were able to go back and forth verbally. It was a fair fight unfortunately King of the ring. The bell.

"A great story And again I'm not saying. The Roddy Piper Piper was terrible worker. I'm just saying that. Match as far as workwise story in ring a bell to bell was probably rotties best match ever the winds up being rotties only gold in the WSB until years later when he has a bit of a tag run with ric flair while I was his only singles title title because he didn't Roddy Piper didn't need a championship. And if you were to ask me I would have said that the championship probably hurt Ravi. More than helped helped him. Roddy Roddy meant more to the championship than the championship did Roddy. He lives a back with the company as a special guest referee for both Wrestlemania. Ten and Wrestlemania eleven was this like just an annual call. Were Vince felt like hey. We need something special pickup phone. Get Roddy on the phone. Yeah you know. Roddy wasn't working fulltime. I don't think Roddy wanted to work fulltime Nord events particularly want Roddy fulltime. But when you're looking for something special for Wrestlemainia we were thinking about special guest referees for the unique situation that we had there for the the Two batches for the championship at the end and perfect was won- and they can have different guys. Roddy Piper was the other so wrestlemainia Samania ten. It was a nice return Madison Square Garden. The ten year anniversary of Wrestlemainia were Roddy at headline ten years before You know it made sense. It made sense for him to be a part of the main event. Again in the garden for Wrestlemainia ten..

"Then he was the story and Ronnie was all about his cute lines and being funny and get Roddy Piper. Oh when are they not i. Don't they call it color commentaries about it's about getting the talent in the ring over sure. And Roddy was you know he was getting himself over. He was already over. He didn't get himself over anymore anymore. So I wanted to use his his stardom a one huge his star power to sprinkle some hot rod dust on the other talent that he was talking about. And that was what we're looking for all the people to sprinkle this hot ride dust on on you guys do it in Virgil. I just can't believe this is the choice. This is the decision but Piper gets involved called with Virgil and even makes the say form Wrestlemainia. It feels like you guys are just sorta out of ideas for Piper at this. I mean he's one of the biggest stars in the company Johny Wrestlemainia he's working with. Virgil how does this come to be mean was piper just a big fan of meat sauce. Or what's going on here. Who booked this shit? Roddy always like breadsticks. Endless Salad but at the same time anything for free their fellow is like when he hit when Roddy hit me with the the line in Wrestlemainia when I saw a little bit Scott she says hey. Your Scotch I mean is there anything Scottish about you or your cheap. Are you anything I think that was the one line that always stood out to me the most but back to Virgil. It looked it. Virgin wasn't going to get over after after working with Roddy Piper and having Piper endorse him that he wasn't going to get over and so you can't say we didn't give it a shot and we tried the best we could and the failsafe of having to be able to slide ride into a piper issue. That helped to now long after this you got came hand did Piper. Stay in touch. Once you were on hiatus yes he did. Roddy and I would talk probably once a month or so but we always kept in touch and Roddy is one of those guys you look through the wrestling business and they always say you know if you can count your friends on one hand. That's that's a lot I mean. That's that's pretty good. And Roddy was one of those guys that I would put on that hand that always kept in touch and always thought of me. You know what all and it wasn't always one way me calling roddy going. Oh my God what's happening It went both ways where he would call to make sure I will in their son and Definitely did so. In Nineteen ninety-one he's actually ric flair's I viewed in the company and in early ninety. Two he beats it's the Mountie for the intercontinental title at the Royal Rumble. And then he loses it to Bret Hart at Wrestlemania. Eight in your opinion says wrestlemainia eight intercontinental match with Bret. Hart the best of his career. I thought it. Will you know as far as working the ring APP so lutely I think that Bret Hart are got the absolute best out of Roddy tremendous match the told.

"Good man. Maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe your hard of hearing but you'll after smelling that smoke like to have one of those their cigarettes you think you've come up for me Mr Downing Small but it just it got personal. They started shooting on each other. And no one knew where the hell it was gonna go or worse when it was going to end. Vince is back looking at me. I got bloody knees from followed down my my little Red Bikini underwear and I'm just blowed up from running up that Damn Ram data about what are they gonNA end. Dono had no clue but they got it finally ended event. Seibert you're piper. Comes back to action. After wrestlemainia he starts doing some color and then eventually starts a feud with ravishing. Rick Rude and I believe brother-in-law brother other love had some more fun with Roddy Piper during his recruit view and it may or may not have involved a shaving kit. What's the scoop on that Bruce? Well you know. Since brother-in-law was tied to Bobby Heenan. And we're both heels back on The idea was brother. Love to kind of be a spokesman to Roddy Piper's face for recruiting for Bobby Heenan and we did that. Leading up to where Piper now is talking about the hygiene and the bad breath that rick rude has and how he needs to have his mouth cleaned out and so on so forth so so he does it to to me basically beats me up and takes me down these guys little shaving kit. They're already takes the toothpaste and squirts it in my mouth south. And then he takes his finger and brushes mitee for me and then goes to get the mouthwash and all this stuff leading up to that Piper for goes in there going over the segment everything and Piper go Zanan bent slows piper. His shaving kit and allegedly someone in the room said. Hey he used this toothbrush will shove it up our ass. And then you brush Bruce's teeth with and kudos Roddy Piper. He smart me up to that and took the toothbrush and and threw it out. He says don't worry kid all get you instead probably got rotties finger in my mouth rushing my teeth and who knows where the hell that finger had been. But I'm sure it was better than a toothbrush had gone up. Someone's Kieser good times this this a rib this real life. That was rely that was. It was an attempted rib but Roddy and I got along pretty good and Not Something he would've done to me. Thank God I'm any ribs and wrestling involves something going up someone someone else's ass you know seems to be a common thread a Lotta Times as I write this review. Will you won't do put this up your Bra. Then put it in his bag. He'll never know that has caught on and mortgages most famously I think most people remember this era Roddy Piper for for his feud with Bad News Brown and the iconic look smart at Wrestlemania six. Maybe a little more controversial all these days than it was then he would say it wasn't racist at all. What did you think of Roddy painting himself? Half black to your jerk in years stupid you show up. We'll big about you. Ate A man. You check off for me. You're right we are different from mute. SHARECROPPERS IMMI were different we're honest and we're real men. I wasn't in favor of it again. I didn't look at it as racist. I looked at it as controversial and it was very controversial. Even then you know and the barometer a lot of times is when you go to your opponent that you say hey are you cool with this hell. Yeah man that's fine Maybe not always the best focus group. Uh.

"Today must be sick. uh-huh Well Piper knew how to get heat. You know. We talked about him threatening to rough up. Cindy and here with Mr T.. He has some pretty ridiculous lines to draw. Heat one of them being You wear more chains than your ancestors. Wow Piper knew how to get the white hot heat man but in neither of these situations whether it's with Hogan or Mr T. or whoever does he do a clean pin fall and that's something that Piper really made us calling calling card on and he's on record saying quote. I got kids the way feedback. Children is how much money can make. I wouldn't lay my shoulders down for or anybody in quote and they've Meltzer once wrote after Rodney passed away and the wrestling observer. Newsletter Piper said what everyone else knew but wouldn't say day which was the w track record was the heels would get hot and have a big money drawing run lose to the champion and then mostly work mid cards. He felt that has long as he never lost to the champion he would have enough steam to continue to be made of Inter in fact during his first run with the company through his first announced. Retirement tangle nine hundred ninety seven Piper only lost one match by pin fall a Fijian death match to snooker on La Twentieth Nineteen eighty-four Kiel Auditorium Taurean in Saint Louis in their third singles meeting in the city. This is a different era a different time but that was like Piper's calling calling card for a long time he would absolutely not lose to Hogan or anybody else. Did you ever have a conversation with Piper about that. Rodney was very old old school and Roddy was of the opinion. That if you if you lose that hurts you. I've never been of that opinion and we actually used to get arguments over it all the time. 'cause I I just don't by that philosophy I don't think that A loss hurt you as long as you maintain your he and he doing on what you do well and do it better than anybody else Roddy disagreed with that and he did maintain that if he was lose that would hurt him. And you know it was no secret that the old system in the Old New York territory if you were it was A. He'll factory factory. They had a baby face champion. Heels came in. They worked on top with the champion and then they went around after the fact and they worked with the next guy in line and then they were gone and they went away to come back at a later date now with national expansion and now there's no place else go really. Yes they could leave and go to Jim. Crockett but Vince was not looking for people to leave. He wanted to create stars so I think that he gave in you know. I'm sure that he fed into okay. Roddy and obviously vince fed into. Vince accepted it because Roddy Roddy didn't do a lot of jobs and he felt that that kept Roddy Piper special and he agreed with it so it worked one of the things that made Piper special was Piper's pit and that is going to be the reason we have a match at Wrestlemania three because around this time Adrian. Donna starts his own talk. Show the flower shop and of course Piper makes a few appearances to try to tear up the flower shop set. Now have a natural reason for these guys to have mass wrestlemania. The three and this is supposed to be Piper Swansong but before we talk about his jump to Hollywood. Let's talk about how the angle was built and how someone one got a new nickname after this match and I blame Roddy Piper for that well well biggest stars in the business emerged from this top hop guy you know going into Piper had been away and Adrian Donnas had it I think he broke rotties leg or screwed up his needed. Something but Roddy Piper coming back to destroy the flower pit which had replaced Piper's pit Was Classic Television. Roddy I was looking in. Roddy was sincere in his desire to to get away from the business and go and try his hand in Hollywood whether it was making movies or doing in TV there was interest their variety and Roddy didn't want to be one of those guys that hung onto the business again. We're talking Roddy back then in nineteen eighty seven Roddy wanted to move on Rodney. Wanted to make the transition so leading up to to the match there was an incident. I believe it was in Los Angeles Near the shower Roddy was wet and slipped and got electrocuted. So there was even Dow Out So the story goes that Piper would even make the Wrestlemainia match with Adrian Adonis because he had been electrocuted in fairly severely. So so I hear To hear him tell it I was fried and but But he was okay. and He. He had the match each leading to Adrian. Donna's getting his head shaved by the one and only the barber. Brutus beefcake.

"In the head with it. It's a big thing. I didn't get a tweet up and down like a monkey. The third tear down the set and they are off to the races. They were made painting all over the country after this and they were drawing the same money as Hogan with Hogan was on top so all the sudden Piper has established himself firmly as a top guy a bona fide draw a main event or in the New York territory. How big of a deal was this? Coconut situation with Jimmy Snuka Piper's payer probably top ten all time and the wwe absolutely definitely top five but pie. As far as Piper's pit the the most memorable Piper's pit ever bar none But it was classic in that the utilized it to start the program and people the beauty of it was piper getting his heat every single week on television. Ronnie didn't have to Work Rodney. You had to pay to see Roddy early Piper work. That was the other genius of it. So if you're sitting at home all you're seeing is Roddy Piper. Run his mouth every week but then can you hear Roddy Piper is coming to your town. He's going to face Jimmy Snuka or he's going to be facing Hulk Hogan or whoever it is it's like now I get to see him get his ass kicked. I haven't had the opportunity to seem get his ass kicked yet so now go pay my money to see this. Take place so as far as that goes. I mean it was brilliant on on Vinson's part on rotties park because you have to work on TV and it was a way to get everybody over in the SNUKA program. Put them both on the Bat. Put everybody on the map. Really you know. It's sort of fun to look back at this era because both Piper and Hogan again while the top guys here. They both acknowledged that they had some real life animosity each other over. Who should be the GOP hyper felt like Hogan had his spot? He felt like he paid his dues. Because he'd been a top gun Portland and then down in Georgia hate sent Carolina on fire as well so in his mind. There was no question who had paid. They do between the two of them because from his perspective Hogan worked Minnesota and made a movie with stallone and he felt like he deserved the top op spot. Does he have a point there that maybe from paying your news perspective Piper was the right guy. I disagree with that. Come on all paid his dues Hulk Hulk Work Tennessee Hulk worked Florida got his leg broken by hero. Matsuda came back you know and continued his. His Training Hulk Hogan paid his dues. That's for damn sure. There was. Jealousy was professional jealousy between the two but to me. That's what made it work. Both both were top guys and both could make the argument for being the top guy because your top baby face means nothing without a top heel. So Oh the fact that they both came up at the same time opposite sides of the spectrum. Baby face he'll and they kept them apart long enough so that both guys were able to build on their in their own right but I think it was just to me that was just professional. Jealousy talk in our rotties part and I don't think he really believed that. Maybe did you know no roddy probably did but yeah. There was definitely a lot of professional jealousy there early on she had an later onto for the rest of their career. It's got to be the case. Let's talk about rock and wrestling and Cindy lauper. Because she was a big part of this early growth spurt from the company and right in the middle of all of it Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper. It seems like these guys were are destined to finally have a match but they don't touch for nearly a year and a finally happens at the war to settle the score. I think it's still a cable rating to this day doesn't non-point one huge business and a huge attraction that sort of sets up wrestlemainia. How big of a deal was rock and wrestling thing and sandy's contribution to the early days here of the of the company success? I think that the company Kinda hitching. It's wagon to to Cindy lauper and of course MTV at the time which was brand new an MTV was the the young hip channel. That's what all the kids were talking about on everybody. WHO's watching? Cindy lauper was the hottest Pop Act in the world so the fact that Cindy was working with them with Dave Wolf off her manager Captain Lou Albano was in the Cyndi lauper. Girls Just WanNa have fun video which seemed to play every fifteen minutes on. MTV TV so there was recognition all of a sudden wwe stars are being seen on MTV. Allot doing a lot of things. The rocker wrestling connection. You got you gotTA throw Wendi Richter in there is well her her teaming up with Cindy lauper but Piper and Hogan and and this whole the war settle the score on. MTV Live you had Dick Clark involved you had Bob Costas involved. It was it was a spectacle everybody was talking about it and while people were whispering Awsat wrestling stuff. If you know it's you can only take that so seriously everybody's talking about it so now Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan are becoming household names in that. Hey did you see what happened there playing clip of it on the news everywhere about in Madison Square Garden Tonight Rowdy Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan faceoff a soft. I'm on the outside looking in. I'm in Houston working with Bill. Watts and Paul Bosch running our wrestling promotion promotion and and we're looking at this attention. This is terrible for wrestling. We don't want to be associated with rock and roll and all that nonsense but they were exposing it to more eyeballs than it ever seen the product before and it was genius at the time I mean even now it's still pretty controversial to have a man do something with the woman like this on camera. I mean energy matches are really the talk of the Internet these days about should they shouldn't they but here we're doing you know promos with Roddy Piper threatening to do something to Cindy this was real heat in the mid eighties was not. Aw well it wasn't. It wasn't just threatening to strike a female. It was threatening to strike these. The female that is leading the women's revolution at the time. I mean Cindy. lauper represented the female pop- Population Nation at the time with all the all the kids the young girls and she was leading a movement. So slapping Cindy lauper threatening into is basically saying you're slapping every you know everyone that's involved in that movement everyone that support Cindy lauper and and that was the message in. That was the tone that Roddy was trying to get across and it was heat. And it's definitely not something that That you get away with today. At least I don't think and I don't think it'd be in good taste today. Then a little different society was a little bit different. Of course that leads to Wrestlemania one or Mr not would be involved in the main event tagging with all Cogan and again Mr T.. Would find himself working with Roddy Piper at Wrestlemania to this time in a boxing match coach. And those guys didn't always get along and the rumor and Innuendo is that Roddy didn't really want to sell for a Hollywood actor. It's not fair to say. Yeah Yeah Ryan didn't want to sell for a Hollywood actor or Mr Tate so you know Roddy kind of felt that using Mr T.. They didn't need Mr T.. However Mr T. was part of the a team on ABC At the time it was the number one syndicated show. He was red auto and he was worldwide superstar so utilizing having the opportunity to work with tea was a big deal. Rodney just didn't think you know I'm not going to sell for me. He's a Hollywood actor. I think Vince was utilizing not just tease Hollywood side. But Mr T. had a reputation they had done a show called the world's toughest. Bouncers Mr T. won. The first competition of the world's toughest bouncer was was named the world's toughest bouncer so he had a street cred reputation for being a tough guy. Hi Invincible utilize that along with his stardom on the eighteen to get eyeballs wrestlemainia one. Roddy just for whatever reason Mr Teen Roddy Piper didn't get along from day one. I don't know if t came in as a big star and I need special treatment and It's below made work with wrestlers or what it was but they did not like each other at all. Let's let's take a look at you here you are. You shake their hand on both sides. She torture porting all these wonderful children. How can they look? Look up to you with that look longer. The Children of American.

"That might be allowed to resume their pay having Bruce. You weren't there for this but this is a moment that everybody was talking about whether or not yes s because it was unique and it was different. You know Rogers Corner Boy Not The not the best presentation probably good for New York at the time but it wasn't it was boring. Let's face it it was boring. It wasn't it wasn't good. It didn't help get anybody over. And it just kind of exposed buddy rogers for not really being able to carry a promo my opinion. Yeah now you got Roddy Piper and there is first time that a he'll now is put in a position as an interviewer and having his own show. It was a way to get pipers. I pers- personality over but also to expose other talents and get them overuse. Piper's pit to get other talent over the Frankie Williams uh-huh interview where Roddy Takes Gentlemen. who had been on been an enhancement talent New York for a long time and just it basically comes out and calls them out with every fan out? There's already thinking you're a bomb. You're no good name but I Talk Turkey. Will you better by to turn. And it was entertaining on top of getting heat. You felt sorry for Frankie at the same time you highly entertained by Roddy Piper so it was not it was. You can't miss this man was you can't miss this segment each week on TV. Well it was can't miss when they had Jimmy Suck on. This is the moment that changed everything. Think for Roddy Piper. Of course we know what's going to happen here. He's GonNa bring out a coconut and smashed. Jimmy snuck.

"Ferati. They were screaming look at Piper. Laurie Leveson Rights. And in hindsight that is bit of a head scratcher for me. Because Andre wasn't selling a lot here what did Andre C.. And Roddy how did those guys get along. And why was he willing to do this for him. Well Andrei like Roddy Piper. Andre liked the human being Roddy Piper so in in the match if Andrei likes you he's definitely going to take care review and Roddy stuff could be convincing enough. That yes and an entree did sell. Andre was great it selling and making things believable but you had to make it believable. And that's what Roddy did. He made it believable and being able to see the giant Cell L. Forum. Vince is looking at going well at the boss can sell for him. Anybody can sell for him and he makes he makes it believable. He gives them. I'm something to sell God. We've got something here. They add something with Piper's pit. Vince McMahon decides the double down on the Roddy Piper Business and they create a pretty unique concept A lot of people would say that maybe buddy rogers was the first but no doubt Roddy Piper was the most memorable with Piper's pit and of course the first guest is Mr Frankie Williams. I went on the premise of never having to lose a match. I've never lost a match coach in my whole career. I've had different things happen to me. But I've never actually lost a match because I figured you were defeated. One time that it would take that away from you that you need it yourself. You're just the opposite. I have never seen you win. A match lettera lousy wrestler. That's as simple as.

"As a promoter you want somebody that's GonNa come and put assets and seats for you so Piper and had a great run in California at the time. Vince McMahon's senior would often take top stars from different areas and bring them in for limited runs in the garden and maybe make a loop in the northeast. He's territory from what I've heard. This was kind of a a one off a favor for Michael Bell to bring Roddy Piper in and have him on a Madison Square Garden show which was extremely prestigious. Back in the day to perform in the world's most famous arena and still is to the state to be able to perform in Madison Square Garden but Piper coming in it was kind of a you know Roddy Piper Los Angeles California the the cable from La. The television show from Los Angeles actually got into the New York market in Spaniel so the the Spanish speaking folks in the New York area knew who the Hell Roddy Piper was so he did have some name recognition and everything but when he came in Dan Fred Blassie is a joke is a rib Stuff the the toilet paper in the holes of Piper's Bagpipe. So that when he went out the blow Nothing was gonNA come out and Roddy try out there. He was just dying slow death but working with Johnny Rods Mad. That was that was the the proving the ground I guess if you will and Johnny Rods was tough guy he was a perennial New York star that everybody came in and they for for someone to call Johnny Rods. jobber would be a big mistake as Johnny was the kind of guy to get people over and he can make you or he could break you he he was that good but he was in the role you know. He was underneath talent. Used to get guys over but Johnny Wanted Yup he would and in this case. I don't know that Johnny particularly cared for Roddy all that much at this stage of his career and probably him up pipe purchase felt that they did want on him there and he got feeling right away. He really didn't WanNa be there either. Based on the reception he got Piper. Really hits his stride working working for Donohoe in Portland and I think maybe the most viral piece of video from that Rohan. Is the beer bottle. Promo what can you tell us about this. Well Roddy found his way to Portland. Oregon where Donald Promoter and for whatever reason man Roddy Piper just got over over big time in Portland Oregon again. He got over everywhere that he went but Piper would go to extremes cleaning taking a beer bottle breaking it over his head doing whatever it took to get people to be talking about it the next day telling you hey. Did you see what they had on. TV The other day this this guy takes beer bottle. Brexit over say it's Piper took things to the extreme to do whatever you had to do to get people talking eighteen and he was a mainstay in Portland. A found a home in Portland eventually. And that's where he ended up living the rest of his life who would pick Portland but It just was a special place in his heart. And Donna ones was a promoter that roddy felt a special social kinship with Donna was always looked after hot rod. It always made sure that he was very well taken care of and in return Piper. Paid that back with loyalty Until the very end Piper got mainstream exposure working in Georgia territory. Where of course they had? WCBS and I believe off on. He would team with Gordon Sola here in the very early eighties. He's probably the first heel commentator on a national level that fair to say it is Ronnie was the first In my opinion the first and the best to do color commentary specially back in those years in the way that they brought Roddy Roddy in was brought him in initially kind of half ass as a quasi baby face. He was neither fish nor fowl. He just did straight color alert. Commentary as Rod Piper. He didn't wear the kilty just wore the sport coat and he did color commentary and I thought he was excellent at it. When the time was right he started needling? The top baby-faced Bullet Bob Armstrong and just high while the skinny little bird legs there era couldn't beat me and it was just a little nuance things that Piper would do that. Got People will hell. This guy's got a big mouth. He wasn't brought in as a wrestler. He was brought in as a commentator. I gotta big mouth. Would've you know Bob Armstrong just kicked his ass then Piper. I turned heel worked. A program with Bob Armstrong became one of the hottest heels in the business because he got all of this heat for two hours hours on the superstation. Doing color commentary every week so people wanted to see him get his ass kicked and then when the time was right they they made. The switch turned rowdy baby face because they had dom Morocco accidentally knocked Gordon solely.

"And his opponent from Glasgow Scotland Way two hundred forty one pounds making his first appearance in this ring Roddy Piper. He gets his first shot in the New York territory and seventy nine and someone actually sabotages his debut or at least that's the way he looked at it. allegedly sadly Freddie Blassie is the person who stuff tissue paper down inside the Bagpipes Oh when Piper went to make his way to the ring. It was embarrassed that the performance Germany was not what it should have been then for the mass itself. Johnny Rod Sorta Edema up and the plans were changed rather quickly for Roddy in New York. Did you ever talk about his first time. In the McMahon territory and this sort of situation with blassie and the bagpipes yeah. I've heard I've heard the story from both Fred Blassie and Roddy Piper. The at the time Roddy was coming off of a great run in California where Roddy the headline the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles. Working for the promoter Mike Lebel back in the day and Roddy had the gift of Gab and he was able to go and he was he drew money. Okay Roddy I don't think has ever no one's GonNa Accuse Rodney being the greatest worker in the world but Roddy Piper drew money.
