"Behind on and they can't come back from Another time. It's been Tennessee I believe it was Cleveland. Did that. So you factor that he and two of the times you talking about? I mean, out of the five times from about three playoff teams in Tennessee and twice Kansas City right? Eventually, Super Bowl winners. I'm not so quick to say they can't do something yet. I think he's still a work in progress. He's still learning on the job. You know he's out there with Willie Snead in Hollywood, Brown is only in his second year in the NFL as his receivers. It's Once he gets and Alfa dog with him, you'll start to see some things change in the passing game for him. You have to help. Guy's out. The Andre Hopkins is not in Houston. Now, all of a sudden decide Watson looks as though he can't play the position anymore, right? I mean, it just looks like that, even though we know that's a lie. It just feels that way because he's not throwing to a top dog anymore. And that happens. It just does. I think that over time, the more gets better. If he doesn't, then we could have a conversation. In depth about them not being able to come back from behind. But we're talking about 25 games. I don't want to. I don't want to poo poo. You know the situation when he's only paid 25 games in the National Football League, I even listen to people talk about. He hasn't won in a playoff shit. It meant a dude is a kid steal. He just really is. Can I give you a basketball analogy and it's I know that the sample size is still scratching. I'm scratching my head because it actually it's Keyshawn. The Baltimore Ravens remind me a little bit of the Houston Rockets. Right, and I'm not saying Stiles and the three's not stuff, but it's like the Houston Rockets won't come out of the West because they kept based on the Golden State Warriors. And it feels very similar to me with the style in which they play a song is Casey. Is there like four is explosive is Lamar Jackson can be for his dynamic is their offense. Khun B. That's still if they get behind against one of the best offensive power teams we've seen in history of sports. Not gonna happen. Keep in mind. NC State Study Looks at Gender Disparity in College Esports

"We're looking at a paper published by an associate professor, any PhD student at North Carolina State University. The research appeared in the Journal critical studies on Mass Communication. The goal was to see if college is worth programs have been more successful at crecy gender representation. East sports than professional sports have there are a few women who compete at the highest levels of professional sports. Rockets Karma is well regarded player who has spent time in. Her stoldas women, when major tournaments it so as fortnight, but for dependent environment that doesn't have fiscal differences creating a gap between genders us for to still almost entirely male dominated Nick Taylor co-authored the study and associate professor of Communication at NC State said in the journal quote five years ago we thought collegiate sports might be an opportunity to create a welcoming diverse competitive arena which. Was a big deal given how male-dominated the professional eastward scene was rapid growth of collegiate sports over the past five years has led to it becoming more professional with many universities having paid eastwards, positions, recruiting players at so odd we wanted to see how that professionalization has affected collegiate sports and what that means for gender diversity. The findings did not give us reason to be optimistic. For this study naked, his Co author interviewed Twenty One people involved in these sports programs. Eight of the people are part of Varsity programs with the other thirteen being president of their schools. Collegiate East Sports Club six of the respondents identified as women fifteen identified as men PhD Student Bright Style, the other CO author of the study told the Journal. While an interview of twenty, one people isn't a perfect encapsulation of the wide-ranging college. He's worth ecosystem, all twenty one or in key rules of big programs meaning they speak for quite a few more when it comes to gender disparity. College eastwards still have a chance to be a place where we can create more inclusive east sports environments, but `gate-keeping in Tuxes D- are still real problems that women face in the space without focused initiatives that disparity won't get much better.

Fresh update on "rockets" discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd

"He's a young player, but when it comes to throwing outside the numbers. It doesn't look he's very hit or miss. And it's hard for him to get into a rhythm passing because they never really do because for the most part when they're winning thirteen fourteen games and who knows this year the probably win twelve thirteen games. Now, we'll see the I think the steelers match up pretty well against them. The only problem is going to be Ben, can't really scramble. So if you're the ravens, you blitz them, but I wouldn't say there are locked to win the division. Because to win in this league against the good teams and the charges a couple years ago in the playoffs had a really good defense destroyed the mark that was rookie. Okay. I'll give him a pass. Then last year wins the MVP. A playoff game the Tennessee titans come in kick his ass. Then this week, the chiefs, every single person I'm watching on as Colin would say, the other network, they all pick the ravens and I'm thinking to myself. Have we all not been watching football? Didn't you guys watch this can't see chiefs team that won the superbowl play the Ravens last year and destroy him and you guys are all picking them. As gambling, human being in myself. When I saw the line today at, you could get, you could get the see chiefs. At plus one sixty. There were three and a half point underdog. What are we? WHO's setting these lines? You're telling me a three and a half point underdogs just wins by fourteen points and again like I said, it wasn't that close. Now I'm not overreact I'm not saying the ravens are bad. They're good. They are locked playoff team. That's cool. They remind me a lot of the Houston Rockets. Do you know what I expect to happen wants January comes them to loose. They are not going to win the Super Bowl. They're not going to get to the Super Bowl I. don't even think they can get to the championship game with this offense. And listen it's fun and if I still played madden video game I would be them. Run around make place actually I wouldn't. It'd be the chiefs and I, throw bombs scored touchdowns, andro four hundred yards in the air because that's what you have to do to win big. you see Rogers See Russel, Wilson why do we consider those guys? The best hit mahomes Rogers and Russell what are they all do well. Throw Darts, they beat you throwing darts. What can they all do they? All can scramble if they have to Russell's probably the best athlete of the group then Mahomes than the older. Rogers. But they've all countless times, get I down with their legs. But how do they kill you? How do they? How do they? You know destroyed defenses destroyed events coordinators. They beat you with their ride on. Throwing seats throwing deep dimes. lamarcus can't do that. So I never want here Lamar compared to Mahomes, here's what we need to stop doing moms comparing them these other young cats. Does Shawn Watson Lamar Jackson Stop It. There's. drop-off then we can talk about the rest of the group they all got their issues. But no one's in that guy's level. And you know the other big difference between the Ravens and the chiefs. Andy Reid impacts the game he literally calls the offense says he's the offense coordinator he calls the game. I. I'm a Harbaugh Fan I love the family and I like John Harbaugh is clearly good coach. He's Super Bowl champion. He doesn't call you decide the ball. He gives raw speeches and it works and they've built a tough team and they do a good job of scouting. But. Here's what I know when John Harbaugh faces Andy Reid I'm taking eighty read every day of the week twice on. Sundays. Ten Times on Monday..

Shannon Sharpe reacts to Lakers GM 3 loss to Nuggets in Western Conference Finals

"III LOVES SIGHT THAT LOSS. From the Lakers and how about we break it down right now guys Lebron. What is third triple-double this postseason, but it wasn't enough against the nuggets. Last Night Denver led by twenty as late as the fourth quarter Lebron Ford in thirteen points in a last-ditch comeback at. Albury, finished with a team I twenty, eight, ten of which came in the fourth defend off Lebron the Lakers and hold on for the one fourteen to one. Oh, six Windsor Shannon. What is the biggest reason? The Lakers lost this one. They came out they came out and look like a team was to oh, and they just thought you know we don't come on here and do what we do and and not play hard and you could tell early on the nuggets were getting whatever they want. They drive laid up in the paint they you'll get to his dominant hand his right hand. Kiva phenomenal player. He's GonNa make shot skip that shot that he hit with the clock winding down on the right foot. I note most guys right handed shoot that shot Dirk Nowitzki made famous what he shot off his left leg I've never seen right hand guy shoot that shot up the up the wrong foot. I mean, 'cause we shoes tonight expected to go in everybody that's a bad shot clock winding up I expected to go in but I did not expect the Lakers to look this flat. We've haven't seen them even even against a Portland skip the first game even against the rockets the first game they didn't look this flat they I'm like broad do realize the western conference finals. you mentioned it a D. Two rebounds and they came in the last five minutes of the Game Hey deeply forty-three minutes. Avail one rebound white one rebuilt. If you tell me skill that the nuggets will out rebounded again by nineteen. If you tell me, they're going to turn the ball over the Lakers. I'm going to say the nuggets going to win the series, but I don't believe that I believe Lebron ad will play better I. Believe Lebron will be more aggressive because I thought the second the second in the third quarter. Eighty go it and it seemed like Lebron was designed to say you know what you gotta go hey, we're gonNA keep going. But skipped ahead, given up so much ground they had dug themselves. So much of a whole maybe if they don't allow get a eighteen twenty, maybe ten twelve now they can complete the comeback but I thought the Lakers played like a team that was looked. Like they didn't have they had a away game and if through this game away but what are the process what you've done if that you giving these guys confidence because now they think they can beat you they do they feel like Murray for sure thinks he can be yes and he's talking like He. SHOULD BE UP TWO GAMES TO ONE IS I've seen story before the thing is with this guy when he gets hot and. Those lash those last second shot because I saw him in game seven you remember the clock out of both have and he throwing up three's from twenty five from thirty feet and he switching. So he has confidence in their gaining companies but the problem that also has get, you can't have every guy that played for the nuggets with the exception of to a temp equal to or more free throws they Lebron James that tells. Me He's not getting he's not driving the ball. He's not aggressive enough or they're not calling it. So for me, that was the different. They just lacked intensity. They came out like a team that was too low and had the game to throw away I. Expect I know for certain and I'm going I, don't care I. don't care what the line he'll. I won't do on it right now you do I won't do right now.

Why Dr. Kumar is Changing The Wellness Game

"Welcome back once again, see the outcomes, rocket podcasts where we chat with today's most successful and inspiring health care leaders. I really WANNA. Thank you for tuning in again and I welcome you to go to outcomes rocket dot health slash reviews where you could rate and review today's podcast because he is one outstanding individual and healthcare is name is Dr Rajiv Kumar he's the president and chief medical officer at Virgin Pulse during medical school he realized that many of the worst health problems we face as a nation diabetes heart disease cancer hypertension. Et, CETERA. I related to the collective unhealthy lifestyle, and so he has pledged to make a difference in this industry. He's done and as a frontline physician and now through various different companies, some amazing things and so what I WANNA do is open up the microphone to Raji to fill in any of the gaps of the introduction and then a so we could get into the podcast. Reggie welcome to the PODCAST. Think saw glad to be here. So Rajiv, what would you fill in in your intro that I that I left out? I think that was pretty comprehensive. Just, a little bit about virgin pulse. You know what? I think that may not be familiar name to a lot of folks on your that are listening to your podcast. We are an employee wellbeing company. We work with large employers all around the world, and our goal is to help them activate their employees to lead healthier lifestyles which had to kind of go around the healthcare system a little bit, and go direct to the employees and figure out ways to motivate them to inspire them and to help them sustain behavior change over time, and it's not just about healthcare cost reduction. It really is about how do we help people be? Healthier, happier and more productive at work in their personal lives. So that's really what our mission is. That's beautiful and listeners for those of you who haven't connected the DOTS virgin pulse. One of Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group companies. So you know with the gentleman like that behind something like this and and Rajiv as part of the executive leadership team, you can imagine some great things are happening. It's an exciting time for us. We definitely are inspired by Sir Richard Branson leadership in his philosophy is if you take care of your employees, they'll take care of your business, and so we're trying to empower employers to take better care of their employees. So strong, and and you know it's really interesting that you guys are tackling this employer perspective of the entire health career equation because costs are soaring and aside from labor costs, it seems like healthcare cost is oftentimes double digits in that front. What are your thoughts on what should be on every medical leaders agenda today? Well, I'm biased but I think it has to be a behavior change remember too often looking for a magic pill or magic device or something to kind of stem the tide of rising obesity, diabetes and heart disease in our country and at the end of the day, there's so much. We can do to actually change people's behavior a lot of what we're facing as a result of our diet, our physical activity or lack thereof the stress that we have in our lives just how we how we treat ourselves and how we don't take care of ourselves, and so I think it's not necessarily a hot topic I. Think it should be and and I wish there was more focus on it is the perennial that if we can change behavior, we can prevent a lot of disease and we can produce significantly greater outcomes and Reggie. What would you say right now at at at Virgin? Pulse. Is an example of how you guys are improving health outcomes. Well, I think we really tried to think outside of the box I think traditional health interventions and and health and wellbeing platforms have largely been ineffective and they've been around for decades. So we sat around and we said what if we took a different approach rather than making people feel like they're failures rather than telling them that they're sick what if we actually make them feel successful what if we make them feel good about themselves right off the bat what would that do for self esteem for their motivation and for their ability to change. Most of what we see in our industry is a heavy focus on screening, and so employers asked their employees to take health risk assessments and do biometric screenings and so forth, and the problem with that is they take a health risk assessment tells them you're sick. You know you have high risk, your unhealthy needs to do more change your lifestyle, get your biometric screening results and you have high blood pressure. You may not like the results that you get back and that can be very demotivating, and so we've said is, is there a scientist out there? Is there a behavior change model that focuses on success? We found a scientist by the name of Dr Bj fog out of Stanford University and Dr Fog is sort of a new guru of behavior change and he's come up with a behavior change model that he caused the fog behavior change model and it's very simple as model is is a formula to it is called B. Equals M. A. T.. Equals motivation times, ability times a trigger, and so what he means by that is to get somebody to do a behavior that we want them to do or they want to do. First of all, they have to have the motivation to do it. Second is they have to have the ability to do it, and a third is you have to trigger them. To trump to do that behavior and too often in the in the kind of behavior change space, we ask people to do things that require either too much motivation or too much ability. So we say something like go to the gym four times a week and exercise for sixty minutes. Each time you go that takes a lot of motivation and some people may not even have the ability a really know how to do that where to get started so forth so Dr Fog says, well, motivation is hard to change. Your motivation waxes and wanes on a daily basis on an hourly basis, we can't really change somebody's motivation that easily what you can do is changed the behavior you're asking them to do to make it easier. You can change the ability to perform the action, and so the idea is if you take a behavior like washing your teeth and you break it down to the smallest tiniest thing that somebody could possibly do like floss one tooth and you ask them to do that they can actually do. That very easily, it doesn't take a lot of motivation is very quick to do, and if they do that and you celebrate the fact that they did it, you can help them build what we call success momentum, and then they're going to feel better about going to the next step and try something harder and so in our entire approach to behavior change, we break behaviors down into their simplest most basic action we ask people to do that would trigger then and then when they do it we. Reward them make them successful. We give them social status. They might get some kind of points or some kind of reward, and then we ask them to do something harder the next time around and stuff feedback loop that builds up momentum, and it changes behavior in a very sustainable way in a very habitual way, which is really the key to behavior changes creating habits.

So Yeah. I kinda grew up as a competitive gymnast when I was in high school and then I was non-american swimmer. So I mean swimming was really my main sport. But I competed a lot on the floor exercises in gymnastics as well, which is something people most people don't know about me. I've just always had this feeling that if I ever tried a standing backflip immediately tear my MC l. that's just a thought that I I don't know why I had that thought that's why I said for years ago try. Not Going to happen. So fire nation as I shared the talking all about teaching an old dog new tricks and my guest today has launched a company called New Loewe, which is a combination of the words nutrition and love. So that Super Cool New Loewe and why Michael I mean, you went to business school why did you decide to start a pet food company before the PETRIE company? Kind of the Genesis of the Food Company was a company I started? Before new I, I'd spent the early part of my corporate career working for big companies. I used to work for is your oxen in General Electric, and then most recently with universal studios in. Two thousand one that I was in L. A. and I was taking a quick break and. I found I. Don't know how many of you have been through the experience of trying to find a pet sitter for your pet. I went through an experience, sperry the detail, but basically led me to leave universal and start what became the nation's largest at home pet sitting dog-walking training business. Is based in Los Angeles and we. I spent about a decade running that company and was it was in and of itself was a really cool business about one, hundred, eighty five. Pet Sitters dog walkers doing roughly eleven thousand a month all over Greater La, and you know the significance of that was I was you know we're on the front lines of feeding a large population of dogs and cats whether parents were traveling and over the course of the decade I really started to see a huge demand for pet sitters who could administer at home insulin shots, and this is for diabetic dogs and cats, and we eventually it started to stress the business where I couldn't hire that tax and and trained my sitters to give shots fast enough and you know one thing I was trained academically as a biomedical engineer. So I I can be annoying and in my ability to kind of. Dig for root causes and that's exactly what I did in this case is you know I started asking myself like what what's happening why are so many pets getting sick why are so many dogs and cats getting diabetes and? I went out and talking to vet schools and scientists around the country and you know what I learned wasn't I'm GonNa say it wasn't really rocket science but it was you know essentially that are pets are living in in their own version of fast food nation we have you know we we have a country where four. A large large conglomerates control over eighty percent of the pet food sales in the United States and you know these are the very companies that make candy, chocolate, Jelly and cereal right. These are these are the four that control eighty percent of our pet food distribution the US. So you know. Really. The majorities are really low in meet their high in carbohydrates, these high glycemic ingredients. They're marketed very well but unfortunately, dogs and cats can't use the food for themselves otherwise, they choose products that are high in meat. That's one of the reasons you know I. Before I even gave it much thought I was leading Los Angeles moving to Austin Texas and I started new Loewe with the objective of creating a food platform. That's more species Pacific for dogs and cats at high in meet low in carbs and look like

Spend $300 for it. Watch. They've added blood oxygen sensors to it. So it has basically as you're wearing it, a Chinese light that shines light and You three or screen for your skin and incentive, the color of your blood and the blood. Yeah, so and works as ah, of course, better than the production centers, a lot of a spot for the covert epidemic but the really cool things, But the apple other companies will add these beach at features to fitness watch, But it's just sort of a feature. Apple did such a great job of integrating with everything else. So this blood oxygen center? Yes, you can. You can decide. Hey, please tell me what my blocks in saturation levels right now. But it will also just keep sensing it is, of course, the day so if there's any alarming sort of a change, it will give you an alert saying, Hey, this is unusual even works as you're sleeping. So s so if for whatever reason, you're part stops putting your heart your lungs stops putting oxygen in your bloodstream at the rate that would be considered compatible human life. You know what? I really have been having really terrible sleep Well at night at night after night after night. Maybe I should have got it. I've got a check up with my doctor in a couple of weeks. Maybe I should bring this up course The Boche will provide the doctor with all the data of what it was. It's been observing. Well, thanks for being with us. I just want to go back to one thing that you said is we wrap it up here. You said that the watch shines a light into your skin. Yes, well, we know that the purest courses pretty translucent. So if that's the way it doesn't that's AH along Go. I won't tell you too long here, but that's one of the interesting sort of limitations of these business watches. But of course, it can't do anything that sort of breaks. The skin on DH presents one of the holy grails of fitness watches. Being able to take lunch, blood sugar readings or two and do stuff like that. But unfortunately, there has been some experimentation that way, but there's no way to do it. But with blood oxygen, they found ways around it that again. They're not taking obviously not taking a blood draw, which is the most most efficient way of doing it. But it's good enough and the science is solid enough. For the purposes of this fitness, But you can tell you particularly when you're exercising. Yes. Israel strikes Gaza after rocket fire during US ceremony

"Says it's fighter jets struck militant sites in Gaza in response to rockets being fired at Israel. NPR's Daniel Estrin says the rocket fire began during yesterday's White House signing ceremony involving diplomatic agreements reached by Israel and two Arab nations. Israel's military says Palestinian militants launched 13 rockets towards southern Israel Tuesday to Israelis suffered light and moderate wounds. Then Israeli air strikes targeted militant sites in Gaza with no injuries reported. The Islamic Jihad group said it fired the rockets to protest the deals. The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed with Israel. Palestinians accused those countries of betrayal for rewarding Israel with diplomatic ties while the Israeli Palestinian conflict continues. Those Gulf Arab states never fought a war against Israel. For years, they had covert relations. The Gaza Israel violence was a reminder of the Mideast peace that still has not been achieved.

President Trump presides over a reshaping of Middle East power dynamic

"The White House was trying to resolve the Israeli Palestinian conflict with the quote deal of the century, but the Palestinians were not among those signing the so called Abraham Accords today. It was the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates in Bahrain, agreeing to open diplomatic and economic ties with Israel. President Trump's staged an elaborate ceremony to mark the occasion were here this afternoon to change the course of history. After decades of division and conflict, we marked the dawn of a new Middle East. Neither Bahrain nor the United Arab Emirates were at war with Israel. They had been working quietly together to counter Iran. Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, thanked the the US US president, president, You You have have unequivocally unequivocally stood stood by by Israel Israel side. side. You You have have boldly boldly confronted confronted the the tyrants tyrants of of Tehran. Tehran. You've proposed a realistic vision for peace between Israel and the Palestinians, Palestinian see the deal's as a betrayal by their Arab allies and an effort by the Trump administration to undermine the Arab peace initiative. That plan calls for normalization with Israel after the Israeli Palestinian conflict is resolved. The Trump Administration took a different approach, says Aaron David Miller of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. They reserved all the honey for Israel in the key Arab states and all the vinegar for the Palestinians. The idea is that as Arab states normalize ties with Israel and get big arms deals with the U. S. They will put pressure on the Palestinians to make peace with Israel on terms more favourable to Netanyahu. Miller says It's known as the outside in approach, and he recalls numerous conversations about this with Trump's son in law and advisor Jared Kushner. It was just easier for them. It was more attractive for them. It was much more in keeping with the pro Israeli sensibilities both for political reasons, and in the case of Mr Questioner and others emotionally To align themselves with the eyes outside in approach. It's starting to pay off. But the Trump administration is still short of its ultimate prize, Miller says. Getting Saudi Arabia on board. My only concern is that they have hyped and Who plotted to the point where That may not yet be wanted. But if other Arab states join the party, particularly the Saudis, then I think you've got something that will be much more enduring. The Arab foreign minister say they're not turning their backs on Palestinians and Moradi Abdullah bin Zayed, speaking through an interpreter reminded Netanyahu that he agreed to suspend plans to annex parts of the Israeli occupied West Bank. You can look after dark cell. Um thank you for choosing peace and for halting the annexation off Palestinian territories at position that reinforces our shared will To achieve a better future for generations to come. In this time of a pandemic. The men didn't wear masks as they signed their deals with Israel. They did, however, avoid a public handshake. And while the ceremony was taking place at the White House, Palestinian militants in Gaza fired two rockets into southern Israel.

Gaza militants fire rockets at Israel as pacts signed in US

"Donald Trump presided over a document signing event at the White House today is really the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signing agreements that will formalize the normalization of the Jewish state's warming relations with the two countries, possibly paving the way for a broader Arab Israeli reconciliation after decades of squabbles. Later, Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump indicated more countries will be getting on board. I call it going around the spark door coming in a different way, and we have many other countries going to be joining us. They're going to be joining us soon. We'll have. I mean, I think seven or eight or nine we're gonna have a lot of other countries joining us, including the Big one. Today's ceremony is part of an initiative being pushed by the Trump administration is a key foreign policy win during the president's reelection campaign. As Israeli leaders attended a ceremony at the White House to establish diplomatic ties with the two countries. Militants in Gaza fired rockets at Israel, medics say At least two Israelis were wounded. NPR's Daniel Estrin reports from Jerusalem. Medics say the two men had moderate and light shrapnel wounds. The rocket fire hit the southern Israeli town of US dude Video on social media showed a crowd gathered near shop with shattered glass on the sidewalk. Palestinians opposed the two Gulf states agreements with Israel as abandoning the Palestinians and their conflict with Israel. The Islamic Jihad militant group claimed responsibility for the rocket fire, saying they opposed the normalization deal with Israel. The Return of Playoff Rondo

The Return of Playoff Rondo

"So Bill Game One against Houston was Rozan rondos first game nearly six months. Can you break down everything that he went through with injuries? Yeah. It was interesting because this is a guy who has been slowly it feels like kind of breaking down as he's gotten older he had two broken fingers on his right hand last year his first year with the Lakers. This year he had a calf injury. He had an aversion fracture in his right ring finger and this is all before we get to March and the shutdown from the pandemic. So the Lakers are off for four months they go to. ORLANDO. Rajon Rondo is with the team their first practice inside the bubble Lakers guard Rajon Rondo has suffered a broken right thumb in. He's expected to return to full basketball activities in six to eight weeks, he's going to undergo surgery to repair the fact fracture this week. So he leaves the bubble has surgery. He's out for another six weeks or so the Lakers have a first round series against the Blazers Rondo, comes back to the bubble and is actually cleared to play for game three against the Portland Trailblazers, he's on the court getting ready. For that Game Rondo was listed as active tonight for the Lakers but was a late scratch with back spasms that happened. So, by the time, we got to game one of the second round against the rockets. There was kind of this sense of porcelain Rondo forget about it what level, but is he just going to be healthy enough to play and be able to stay healthy to make a contribution to this team? What does he had to say about all of these injuries he basically downplayed the injuries and said that these are the sorts of things that are going to frustrate. Anyone was very frustrating injury and step back I'm my career fourteen years have. Everything happens for a reason. Obsolete man says talks we. Still for the moment but the timing of this latest injury, the broken thumb and the back spasms I think particularly frustrating for him because this is a guy whose entire reputation and career is built on playoff performance on being a guy who really ramps it up in the postseason. Early, in his career uses a second your point guard with the Celtics out of Kentucky playing with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen and Paul. Pierce and he ended up playing an instrumental role. You remember the two thousand, eight finals against the Lakers decisive blowout game. You know he had twenty one points against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers twenty one point seven rebounds eight assists six steals to give the Celtics a championship for that story franchises nearly ovation barrage. You've seen it win Lebron was in Miami. If you remember game three of these conference semi finals Rondo dislocated his elbow. Oh. Wow. Left arm hyper-extended boy. Didn't see it on that I replay certainly. Saw It there. When back to the locker room pop back in came back onto the court to help the Celtics with game. Time is pad. Rajon Rondo expired the crowd rare Boston. We've seen it time and time again in his career in these big moments, it's not superhuman. But when you take a player who is seen as a high level, but not superstar player can a hitting that superstar switch when the playoffs come then obviously a legend starts to grow. And for him did have another injury right when the Lakers were expecting to get him at his best was extremely frustrating. But the timing actually ended up working out he made it back for the second round series against the rockets and as we've seen was really no worse for the wear the Lakers got blown out by the rockets in game one. They're all going to be in a good mood tonight as the Houston Rockets when it one twelve to ninety seven. But after that, they rattled off four straight wins how much credit do you think Rondo deserves further taking that series. So easily I think you could make an argument that without Rajon Rondo certainly that the Lakers wouldn't have off the next four wins, but he was instrumental in games two and three and four also, but specifically games two and three with his performance in the fourth quarter game too. He knocked down a late jump shot to kind of hold off the rockets and what was a close game Rondo two. Point jump shot that's Rajon Rondo with a bucket right there ten points nine assists for Rondo and then engaged three. He was actually the guy who is Lebron James on the bench to start the fourth quarter in what was a close game at the start of that period he either scored or assisted on Lakers I eight possessions of that quarter to help kind of turn what had been another tight close game into a rout for the Lakers. Rondo. He'll three and Rondo hits another one largest laker lead tonight Rondo has. Been Spectacular and a nice Lee for Kuzma. This is sort of how his reputation has been built. But this also is kind of out of line with the way he's played for the Lakers over his first two years. He hasn't been the guy who has come up in the big moments or been clutch. You've seen the decline of a player who's in his mid thirties and has been in the League for fourteen years, but there has always been this belief from the Lakers that when the playoffs come that he. Would step up and have those sort of vintage Rondo performances and so what you saw was sort of this return to form that the Lakers have always promised would be there and you saw not only offensively. But also defensively when Houston started to make runs, it was Rajon Rondo who was picking up James Harden full court and pestering him into turnovers they double team Arden and get a steal and another round of bucket. That's a ten old laker run hard was trying to go behind the back Rondo was right there. In both game two in game three second-half possessions where rondos picking up James Harden. The former MVP of the league, hounding him into a turnover, taking his pocket and going the other way for layup that completely shifted momentum and those both are Lakers win. So when you look at what Rondo did in those two games, I, think you could easily say that the Lakers could have been down two. Oh, two one in the series instead of kind of romping to a five game series victory.

"It could still happen but they looked ready to go home last night. No doubt about it felt like that was the end of the series of Oh. Wait they. This is only game four. Yeah. It doesn't make sense no chance I'm going to be listening to a Ralph Sampson podcast. Ralph Sampson played with. Mitchell wiggins, Andrew wiggins dead in that on that eighty sixteen Lee when they went to the the finals there. Do you think Mitchell wiggins had the energy that Andrew wiggins lacks. Against doesn't have. Well, it's funny actually in that game in game five, Mitchell wiggins comes out and hits a couple of shots in the commentator Dick Stockton says, wow, he's a streaky shooter's sometimes Mitchell wiggins like us like his son. Dick Stockton. Dick Stockton. Anna. Tommy Heinsohn Yeah. Some legends there. Here's here's one more question about this series. Trade, you think the thunder would have put up a better fight so far through four games or would they still may be would have been swept maybe one win or at least closer against what do you think any thoughts on? I don't know I mean they couldn't beat the rockets so. I don't know I'm not impressed with the thunder just like I don't think the rockets are in that of a they looked terrible last night it happens every single year. But what did you expect maybe the underplay harder? But? I don't know I really matter the Lakers are really good. They've had one bad game in both of their playoff series and then they dominate game too. It seemed close but it was only because the rockets hit nine threes. The Lakers. Are Awesome. I don't think the thunder would do much better. Fair enough. Let's take a quick break and we'll get to some beach stepping. Yeah. A few beach teases for you. What do we got here test? Well Jd..

"Nine PM Eastern Game One Lakers rockets rockets and Lakers played three times this season. But in just one of those games were the key players on both teams out there Houston took two of the three though. So take whatever you want from that. Let's get into the keys of the series before we make our predictions tasks when you start your key to the Lakers rockets second round series, well, that one game that they did play where the rockets had decided. We're going small ball baby was actually the day right after the Clint Cappella. Trade. Russell Westbrook was in the lineup he had forty one points against the Los Angeles Lakers going seventeen of twenty eight and that's why he's my key to series really the there's such a vast chasm you can get with Russell Westbrook, you can get an okay one. But you can get an incredible what I think you're going to need that in this series. This is exactly the type of series they traded him for where there's a bunch of trees on the other side. Bunch of big are standing around and Anthony Davis in jail mcgeown Dwight Howard, and he's gotta be able to navigate that and just go through the trees and get to the lane and score. It was the that game was exactly what you'd expect from the series Lakers pound inside rockets on the fast break battle they won the threes and I to me it's when you make that trade. Russell Westbrook is the guy who's got all the space out there now, and he's got to be able to slice up a big team. So to me from the Gecko, that's the number. One thing if that doesn't happen if Russell Westbrook is just Average than that. The two stars on the other side Lebron and ad are going to win because they're gonNA play pretty well, and this isn't like their plan. Okay. See where you're going to get the rockets can get by with Chris. Or, having a twenty or twenty five Boeing game. The other one got doesn't show up eighty and Lebron going to show up Russell. WESTBROOK has to show up every single game. Okay. So westbrook big key to this series trae where you got your eyes on I think task a lot of the things the Lakers should smash it inside the rockets should be bombing from outside and probably running the ball a little bit more though the Lakers do pretty good when they get into transition when they really commit themselves to that. But the thing that's a question mark for me for the Lakers is, can they hit threes? They had a couple of stinkers in round one they had a game where they made five threes. They had a ten for thirty eventually figured out there shot they were shooting thirty four percent in their first round series but the rockets shoot a lot more threes. And they hit thirty six percent. So at the rockets are Gonna be able to knock off the Lakers at all here, get any wins in this series, it's going to be from the three point line. They're going to have a game where they make twenty something right and can't come in a game for the Lakers were they make six where they make. A if they're getting beat by ten plus from the three point line, then you're going to be in trouble with that was one of the big questions with them in the seating games heading into their series against Portland as well. They were talking about how they didn't figure out the sight lines. It seems like things are normal. Now they can shoot threes. They were called before you know when they had a little bit of a they said, they had a long way off compared to the layoff that the blazers had. That's even more. So now compared to what the rockets has. So maybe game one, the Lakers. Come out. It's a brick fest and Houston. Been Planning Competitive Games here they're still in a little bit of a flow perhaps they get hot from three and they knock off the Lakers game one and we're talking again like Ooh who who is this bad news for the Lakers it could just be another douchebag sweep, but the Lakers have to hit from three to be at their best. Yeah. It's interesting. Go next year because it's sort of similar to what you're talking about. I think it's very clear. The rockets are going to be like well, we can't stop Lebron James and we can't really stop Anthony Davis. So they are going to get their numbers. They are going to get their points and we'll be fine with that. especially add who's likely going to take a shot that they almost want him to take the longer to unless he's inside which you don't want obviously dunks and lay ups but eighty found his shot as the bubble went on. He's been money recently from there, but they'll live without I. Think 'cause they don't really have an option. The key to them is going to be stopping all the other. Lakers. Eighty again Lebron. Thirty five plus okay. That's GONNA atom up to seventy or eighty. We gotTA stop everybody else. We've got to eliminate CAL COUPS MMA Danny Green? Casey. We just have to slow them. Vogel Loves Caruso WHAT HE BRINGS DEFENSIVELY, but they're gonNA treat him there should treat him. You know like the ball dort right I mean he's The Ball Mambas five, twenty eight from being here. So he's not a great shooter and they have to let you gotTa pick and choose like who were leaving. Obviously hit some shots in some of those games but other times didn't and it was ugly they're going to do that with him when he's out there. So to me, I don't like the rockets chance to win this series, but they need everyone else besides and Lebron to cold, and then out on top of that trae said the randomness of them shooting fifty or sixty three's and what happens in a game like that like you know they can hit eight or they could hit twenty five so that to me is just reducing those other guys, the other Lakers if they can take them out of it. And maybe that includes some of the bigs. Vogel does continue to go big with weight and I don't know about mcgehee seems sort of out of the rotation for the most part to me hasn't given them a lot out there. So we'll see but. It's going to be tougher for the rockets police off. Do. In my opinion what do you got elite is sort of similar. The ruckus just have to play defense that we have seen from them at times in the in the bubble here, and certainly in the postseason, he gets a thunder because sometimes the rockets look like they're really locked in and engaged they rotating moving around getting to shoot his and other times. It looks like the other team can do school whenever they want con- afford to do that against the Lakers who were putting up. A hundred seventy points a game in the playoffs so far. So you know that if the if the rockets I let us make a track meet the likely. Okay. We can do that as well. That's fine. We've got guys. You can hit the reason we can score, but the rockets have to at least make make it difficult as best they can for the Lakers because they have options. But when that rockets defense is is at least focused and determined that this does make it hot or not. At times they really impressed me with their defense but other times it was like where where is that defense that we saw before and the the thing is PJ talk is going to have such an enormous workload in this series Econ Stop Anthony. Davis. By himself nobody really can. So they're going to have to make sure I lock on him I know what you're saying there skates like make sure those other guys don't go out there and burn you. But at the same time I mean you can't just have Anthony Davis taking those mid range because he's just not not. Like right right now. So you know there's so many different ways that the Lakers I think can hurt the rockets but the Ruckus just have to put in the effort to stop with on the defensive end. Dantonio, actually had a really good plan for how he's GonNA use PJ Tucker. He's GonNa have P guard Anthony Davis and J guard Lebron James. He said, maybe they'll work. I'd like their chances actually to maybe make this a series that happened. Okay. So let's get to predictions here task started Lakers. Rockets, how many games so you got one in. The rockets didn't finish that series. Know all that well against. Okay. See it just wasn't that convincing I expect you. To. Bounce back offensively expect Russ to have a good series. But I think the Lakers are just a little bit more in sync I guess you know if the rockets rained down, I can definitely see them. Taken a couple of games in this series so I'll give them to I think the Lakers will win in six..

"Just lost his job again to another ball brother like that would be weird. Let me get to the Knicks Stephen Eight number one. Even if they had the number one pick I guarantee you wouldn't drafted the right guy number two. If they did draft the right guy, they wouldn't develop them well, number three if somehow. The right guy fell to them right member the draft where they got porzingas everyone knew the number one, two and three picks knowing he's going to take porzingas in the top three because he wasn't as known commodity. So whoever drafted four was gonNA take porzingas he fell into their laps even if the right dude fell into their laps that toxic loser environment would mean that they would get nothing for. Him they got nothing for producing just like I. told you when they traded him and they try to beat us in the head with all we're trying to rebuild idiot franchise is gonNA trade a franchise player on his rookie deal because they want to rebuild know you keep him and use him to attract other Max free agents and you got three great players but the Knicks are a laughingstock. There's. A twitter account I follow Jason Gilbert who tweeted at the time of the PORZINGAS trade with the caps the money they save the cap space they save by trading we're porzingus the knicks will be able to hire two maybe three PR guys right and that's what happened. Every everyone. You just mentioned Stephen the Knicks. The loser franchise that they are blew it again clown organization making us stupid trade as usual. Hired PR guys to try to explain it all the way. They're not the biggest losers on draft night because they'd screw it up anyway even with something falls into like Jeremy Lin that they didn't have to invest anything in they lose him for nothing to the Knicks are the biggest losers every night because of James Dolan. But they weren't the biggest losers last night that may have been. A De Ngelo Russell depending on what and who they draft. Stephen and Charlie. I am speechless right now I'm speechless for the first time Max Kill Them In the speaking the Gospel I mean he just gave us the. Good word from Genesis chapter of verse nine and he's right until they get rid a Dolan and he he sells the team. The Knicks are GonNa lose nothing is good. It's GonNa. Happen for the new. York. League. Knicks they were the biggest losers in the in the lottery draft last night. When you look at the Knicks, no free agents are coming not know superstars. You can't trayful anybody and so I was looking at the Knicks and I'm like you Stephen I like Anthony was I think he's Stud I think he's going to have a hill of NBA career. He's going to be a all star one day, but the guy that the new. York Knicks knee is Lamello Ball Lamelo ball is everything and more for the New York Knicks. He's The star in the making he's he's a superstar i. mean he everything about him say a superstar he's ready for the bright lights. He's ready for New York City and the brother Cup play he could play. He'd been playing professional basketball for the last two or three years. He's ready. He's ready everything of bottom. He got the great smile had he loves it he's marketable the New York Knicks they lost again and I never thought that I will be agreeing with mix on this Friday and saying that makes Gillerman actually spoke the gospel today well, Jesus. Six Hold on. There's nobody that disagrees with him about Dolan based on Dolan's record. I'm just hopeful. Max's turned his back on New York. He's traded he. He's rated Eddie years. He's going to la he's bit random and. Go He don't give a damn about. To stay but he's he's. He's traded away. I'm holding now rob home I'm holding out hopefully on roads and worldwide west will you west I'm holding out hope one way as suggested for the New York Knicks you do me a favor please James Dolan. If you really want to represent New York City, will you stop having the practice facility in outskirts towards west? Or Connecticut or whatever bring the Damn team to New York City Police. This Guy, you gotta get stuck in traffic on the west side highway and everywhere else I been pleased that a New York that's part of the problem is somebody who play for the new. York Knicks. They don't want to be traveling the Damn near Connecticut to order to get the practice they want to be in a city find a way tolan DVD something. What? Perk. I'll tell you this the reason, the Knicks, the hearts of new. Our heart of New York is because they ran unopposed for decades. The Nets were in Jersey, the nets are in Brooklyn now new. York has another team. Now the Knicks. Are yesterday's news I guarantee you the nets will become the heritage franchise in New York City and the Knicks had always been a clown franchise under Dolan will be second class citizens of New York it's happening now hasn't happened all the way yet, but it's happening now who got K. D. who got Kyrie? Curry. US. New. Played who just was in the pre K. D. and car is still better than the Knicks. I. Root root for. Their also, the Glamour Team in New York so I would suggest to all New Yorkers who've been fed up with the Knicks. But have had no choice. You do what I did. You root for a team in New York root for the Real New York team the Brooklyn Nets Franchise. Brooklyn. I. Can Acknowledge Brooklyn is the better team, but there you go saying root for them to you just a radar that didn't. Say maybe I don't. Allow you in New York. City the what I mean I know with Oracle but damn to sit up into. City. Decision soon doesn't seem a gift, the Knicks just a traitor you why don't you just go to La St this go? Like. Two. Thousand. So your point Stephen Eight, your point as being the lawyer new. Yorker, right. There's still a little hope you still got worldwide with right who got connections all over you know the guy? No Jay Z no beyond say he knows everyone and you still got Tom Typical? Guy Who want word to describe tubes is coach. So it's still hope for the New York Knicks. Doling allows them to do their job if he allows them to do their job which I think he will. Not You. Just, you're. Much for hanging with us? Perkins. On Monday. Joy Weekend..

"That's right. The rockets in a good spot taking that to lead against thunder last night with a dominant one eleven to ninety eight point one hardened ten, twenty, one points that would be his fewest in a Houston playoff games two, thousand, eighteen against the warriors. But no issue there are seven total rockets reached double figures last night meanwhile, no Westbrook, also, no problem Westbrook was out against his former team with the right watch straight game three is tomorrow. Stephen a after seeing what you witnessed last night from the rockets rockets are you more confident in their potential to contend in the West? I am more confident and I'll tell you something first of all. I'm shocked at what I'm seeing from them. Defensively, I gotta give props elston Turner. We can't ignore the job that he's doing because we know that's not my Dan Tony but secondly, almost faint yesterday the Great Chris Paul. One of the best pure point guards, this game has ever seen. Forget to fourteen points. Max Kellerman. In thirty, six minutes of play. Does Dude to assist. To. Chris Paul. I don't know if I've ever seen anger to happen against I don't know about. Thirty six minutes of play. To assist I was faded when I saw that number because that's just who he is and I know that's not gonNA. Happen again and I know he's GonNa, turn it off because even he admitted he has to do more we get all of that but what I'm really pleasantly surprised about first of all James Harden his averaging ten assists in this series secondly. And more importantly James. Harden to not have a single turnover. Now, one single turnover last night in thirty five minutes. So we gotta watch what we're witnessing right now not a single turnover on his part. He only took sixteen shots. He's sharing and distributing the basketball. He's basically being that point guard that he was as a backup in Oklahoma City whenever he was. Spelling for Russell Westbrook years ago. These are the things that we see from James Harden former league MVP, is just reminding us that not only Kenny do whatever it takes. He's willing to do whatever it takes and in the process they're buying westbrook time to get healthy because of Houston and I've already won these games it's not like they had to travel to. Oklahoma. City or anything like that. No I'm literally playing in the same arena right there in a bubble in Orlando. If I'm Houston, I rest Russell Westbrook as long as possible. Potentially this entire series because I was a demise it, they could win the series without Russell Westbrook Max. I look wrong right now 'cause they giving it to okay. See they're giving it to. The rockets can win the series and I think they will against o'casey. Okay. They're good team. But when you look at the rocket Stephen Eight, even take westbrook out. Right they have unsung hero type guys on that team who can get things done like house who scored a bunch last night who can shoot the three? Who can defend who who's athletic? And by the way got locked up to a deal, I'm forgetting the exact numbers but I remember he got signed and it was like boy, he got a big contract remember thinking at the time like that not no, he's better than that money he's a player. Covington not shooting it well, this year like it goes on, they shoot a lot of threes a lot of them do it. Well, they are much better defensive team given credit for of course, they're only to go as far as James Harden takes them, and as I've been saying every year in the playoffs, I've been his most vocal critic I would say Stephen I, think you'd agree. In terms of his choking in the playoffs doesn't give me any pleasure to say it. But I believe that's what's happened in his biggest moments. But every year he gives a little more evidence that he's going to turn that around it started with him concentrating on the defensive end more at least that's something he could control if he gets the jitters whatever it is with the game on the line. You can control the effort you put in defense he put much better effort in, and also like a smarter defensive player, he clearly put in the work there, and then he had more good games and fewer bad ones in the playoffs still not as normal self when you need it most, which is an MVP caliber player but at least an all star and this year so far is he's been an MVP in the playoffs he's played at regular James Harden. MVP level I'm very encouraged by what I see and I think harden even with a compromised Westbrook with this supporting cast and the kind of philosophy they have only the high percentage shots only the shots pay out don't don't make any place. Any bad bets only placed bets their lives still there live in every round harden can play like this with this supporting cast. In this philosophy, they are live in every round and I favor them obviously to to win this. Series the other thing that I think is interesting in all of this Max is that we have to keep eyes on Russell Westbrook, in this regard, Russell Westbrook is pushed the pace. He has created open shots for other people but I and we know how much of a superstar talent he is but we also know his Achilles heel point shooting which twenty, five percent we know that we don't anticipate the he's GonNa be launching too many threes he'll leave that to. Other people and Houston has given him an even better excuse to do that moving forward because what they've done in these first two games with all the people particularly Steph Green, stepping up every Gordon being back stepping up and drilling shots. The reality of the situation is there's even more of an excuse to share the basketball and to distribute to other people and is even more of a reason for James Harden to do the same the interesting part about what what? Russell westbrook coming back whenever that happens is. Is he going to take away from that rhythm that they've developed I don't think he will, but it is something watch. By the way Stephen added even mention PJ Tucker Gordon. They got guys who can play Austin rivers is a guy who at one point was like a top high school. He's going to be a great NBA play a good plan. He was so bad to start his career that it was like Doc rivers nepotism was keeping them in the league. Even I remember thinking that like Boy Austin I didn't feel that way and he's lucky that doc is the GM and the coach but I'll tell you this. He is also put in the work every year he gets better and he has a flair for the dramatic i. mean the rockets are live he could play and he can defend. And that was dame Lillard last night or for leaving the game in the third quarter of the blazers blowout loss to the lake show Lillard dislocating his left index finger while reaching on defense during a drive to the basket. By Anthony Davis Dame's coach said, we'll see about game number three and Lillard finished with eighteen points Portland in L. A. will face off against again tomorrow now Kendrick Perkins back here for this discussion. Guys. We saw how frustrated Damian Lillard was last night throwing his towel at the wall and he was leaving the court to go get his finger looked out. We saw it looked like he was about to cry while sitting on the bench Stephen How concerned are you about day moving forward? I'm a little concerned not greatly concerned because I think he's a warrior and I think he'll find a way to work around it obviously when you. Hurt your your non shooting hand This still an issue of catching in balancing you gotTa make sure you do that. You know you catch the ball that's going to hurt. You're doing that were both hands in most situations and obviously when you're launching your shots using your non shooting hand, the balance hold the ball. So obviously, it can be affected to some degree not to mention the fact that because he's a guard your point. He's usually dribbling a basketball and when you're going up against defenders, you have to be protective of that as well. So that in and of itself was problematic when you take into account but this is clearly not Memphis. It's not the Brooklyn that anybody like that. You Got Anthony Davis waiting in that post area you got an eraser at Rim that's looking to block shots at every turn. That's GONNA. To dissuade you from driving to the basket, which means that you're going to primarily rely upon your your perimeter shooting ability in order to make things happen and like KP said earlier what can take this call will pope Danny Green, and those boys trying to lock in zero in on him because the belief is if you neutralize.

"Booker. He threw down this poster slam on Pastel Siaka. Means Mrs tee up for you man, how many meaningful buckets do you think? The Suns we'll have in in these playing games. So you're saying there's a chance Booker GonNa, ball out I think book is going to be tremendous, but the size meaningful. Is, but this is a perfect situation for booker because the says don't have any fans anyway. All right. Miss. Traveling. How about Stephen Adams grabbing this loose ball, somehow getting to his feet and then finishes with the Euro Step Layup. Blaming this, no call or Carmelo's lack of interest in the play for this result come on. Now. That was that was nice. Euro. Stephen Adams. Got That in his game. He's done that multiple occasions that I've seen mellow wasn't ready to see that coming come home Elo. Can You? Can you be on the ground, stand up starts. She may have that in his game, but he doesn't have dribbling from his backside in his game. That was pretty damn impressive if you asked me. Make hang timed. In the Grizzlies final scrimmage yesterday. Man John. Moran was going hard. He threw down to impressive alley. oops. Tall does just feel like he's got something to prove in these upcoming Games. Absolutely all this chitter chatter about Zaire. Maybe getting rookie of the year. He's putting that to rest. This is the rookie of the year and you could argue he could have been an all stars this year. Zion's not winning rookie of the John have to worry about that. But I'll I'll find the light. The Grizzlies were so focused on this scrimmage, and it's not even real game this scrimmage as revenge. Rongerik with all congratulations. All right. Let's move onto another team that's fighting for the eight spot in the West. That's the court lind trailblazers. As. You know we will be catching up on on their previous jury to the bubble with another installment of our previously on. This. Hard. Like waking up every morning, not knowing what to expect. I know what to do want to give up hope Anthony with all the things. The rockets once said, they wanted him to be active All. Put James on them. I mean, that's all right. I, think this is everything they needed someone that can give them twenty point games. That often. End, up. It was plugged up. It needed a especially. Characterize where you guys stand now. Worsen Conference finals, we had high expectations, I feel like we in the middle of test, there's learn. They're going to have to move the three point line. So yeah, Russ Russ is seen enough of these. Damian Lillard. that. This is his best season. Sixty, one points in the overtime victory. He's delivered in a heck of a performance something that'll be remembered forever, and that's the thing about it. Doesn't care about the standings. He chases greatness. No matter. The circumstance he doesn't quit never thinks he's out of a game. Never thinks he's out of the season. If this team is healthy, they are scary team. Eight see I. Think we just in the middle of test of? thinking, it was going to be one way and it's been a total opposite, and you know we just continue on their fighter. ESPN's BP. I only gives the blazers twenty, six percent chance of making it to the play tournament. They finally got a healthy Yousef Merkich Zach, Collins. Looked like a dangerous team in the West. Mean do you expect the Blazers to overcome their playoff odds and make it? Yeah I. Mean The great thing. They don't have to be the eighth seed. They just have to trigger the plane and I think they'll absolutely do that. Here's the thing would be PR gives you those numbers that's not with use of Norwich in the lineup. That's not with that Collins in the lineup. That's not Carmelo Anthony rested slimmer and with the full training camp pretty much to go through the whole playbook, it doesn't factor those things and it's just battering of what they. They did this season. So we're GONNA see a completely different blazers team and to me when it comes to these moments where you need every possession matter, every possession account young teams tend to blow it. Veteran teams tend to get it right. This isn't a veteran team competing at Sacramento. New. Orleans and Memphis. All very young teams and finally Damian Lillard is the best player out of any of those fourteen I'm going with the blazers facing the Lakers in the first round. I, don't think. So I mean, this is the thing you're. You're in a situation unlike any other situation before year the Blazers, they have their their injuries taken care of, but they're not playing at home and big about this. We're looking like kind of like a pickup game set into where I think the advantage is going to be to the Memphis Grizzlies, young legs. Legs. They have nothing to lose. You gotTA understand. There's going to be so much more pressure on the blazers to try to get a the memphis trying to lose the eighth because they've already over exceeded expectations. No matter what happens. But I I think the mountain is too hard for them to climb. Three goes behind. MEMPHIS. I, think there's no chance they make it. So, I would pay attention very closely on Friday watch the jump from three to four eastern, and then at four eastern find that Blazers Grizzlies game, which is one of the most games of the first week in the NBA restart. If the Blazers win that game especially with Dame Lillard a little hobbled by a foot issue, I think it catapults step. If they lose, it catapults the grizzlies that to me is the thing that I'm looking for this week again. Friday. Afternoon four o'clock strange time for big game, but it is a big game. Now we move onto some news from this morning. The Mavericks issued a seven, hundred, sixty, nine words statement. To, to rebuke a sports illustrated story that reported a sexual assault allegation against Mavericks Director, of Player, Personnel Tony Ron Zony labeling the story as a once as one sided and. "Nineteen zero have returned back. Confirmed positive tests does this mean the NBA needs to bring back the bubble for next season? We'll discuss that later but I. James Harden put on a show when the rockets final scrimmage before the resumption of the regular season hardened seven threes in the first half and finished with thirty five points, eight rebounds, and six assists in just twenty nine minutes of action last night, but it wasn't all roses for the rockets. Erik, Gordon landed awkwardly on his left foot with over a minute. Remaining in the second quarter. Might Dantonio that x rays were negative on that injured left. Ankle. Roads reports. Gordon could miss a one to two weeks. Paul. Do you consider the rockets to be the biggest threat to the Lakers or clippers coming out of the West? Yeah. Absolutely. I think they're the only threat for one. There's not a back court that's going to be better than James. Hardie Russell Westbrook, you're talking about two former MVP's You can make the argument that James could be MVP this year I. Mean they got a top five player, a top ten player, those other ingredients you need to be in the finals. If you look every year if features one of those two players, so they're the only threats are west to the clippers and Lakers. Yeah I mean, if we want to talk about other threats to the clippers and Lakers I, think realistically there aren't. But if there is one to me, it's the Denver. Nuggets. Team would the requisite amount of depth with with an MVP candidate and as disciplined on both sides of the ball? I think the problem with Houston to me is they got a lot of talent, but it just kind of really pick up game talent run up and down the Fort Talent, and when it comes the playoffs where teams are game planning where they're sitting around trying to exploit your weaknesses and take away from your strength, I just don't think the rockets have the personnel or the depth to battle that comes beating team like the clippers or the Lakers I'd like to just point out you refer to to NBA, MVP. As pickup game talent there Mr Alhassan. will say like. The style of play, not the not the talk, Gotcha Gotcha tweaking. But I think the rockets. The big thing is, can they hold up? We already have an injury. They don't have the depth that some of the other teams do you mentioned the nuggets although they were down to eight guys when the bubble started? And I definitely think those guys have the swagger because to beat the clippers or Lakers, you've got to have swagger, they're going to have it. They don't have to play any of the Games in Los Angeles. So the homecourt advantage would be neutralized a little, but I think it would be amazing if the rockets could somehow get up to the number four seed. Through these seating games and set up that second round possible matchup against the Lakers I think that'll be great theater. We see Russ and hard, and although supporting guys stay healthy to make it happen I. Just don't know a mean if that's if they got enough in the tank, do that we're going to see. Brian. Tell you right now, if they see the thunder in the first round, they won't even get to the second round. It won't be a conversation about Lakers clippers on. The first round. No. No Way. No. I'm calling my shot right now. They'RE GOING TO UPSET DENVER, they're gonNA. See the clippers in the second round. You see it watch. What well, I wanna say I think the thunder are a very dangerous team. I don't know if I'd pick them against the rockets but watch the thunder over these next eight games. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA. See how they're continuity might show up. Hey, coming up. Should we expect the blazers to overcome the steep odds and earned the final playoff spot west stick around to find out but I? Only one day. That's right. One day away from the resumption of the NBA's regular season, we've been counting down the days by running back the top plays of this season. So far I know you've wanted to know here's number one courtesy of Demar Rosen. Tried to contest that shot from behind to. Swipe. Talk. Land..

"Don't make the playoffs of getting in the play offs that are like seven straight years and and we want to be in the play-offs every year. It's not in my DNA to rebuild and and but at the same time even when you're not rebuilding there's only so many years that if you're a real listed you could really win a championship and I have Russell and James the next three years and you know we're going to do whatever we can do to be one of those top four five teams. I mean let's be honest. It takes some luck to win a championship. But all you could do is set yourself up to be one of the better teams the Great Golden State. Only one three out of five as great as they were. Because you still have to have a little lot to win a championship so our goal is for the next few years to set ourselves up to be one of those top four five teams that have the ability to win at all. And that's all we can do in today's NBA. It seems like there's super team and super team and super team and you manage to put together a couple of guys who are two of the most dynamic players in the League for certain in harden and Westbrook. What was your thought process of pairing them together? And what consideration did you give that? It was actually possible number one. I mean I. We were really special. The last two years with Chris Paul and James Harden and I listen to my basketball people and and you know it's nice to be able to be the guy that signs off on it at the end but thank God. I don't have to make the decision of ring recommendation. We'll always be really good basketball scene. But but you know I understood. I've I've always been amazed at at Russell Westbrook and that he was gonna make us play faster and we thought under Mike Stahl and that that what was best for us You know what Chris. Paul has done for Oklahoma. This year's unbelievable and you know they've got a forty twenty four record the same as us so you know. I think it was just one of those things that it might have made us. Our people felt like a tad better but at the same time. Chris is doing great. But Russell's been great for us and we're happy to have him From my perspective and really being immersed in the NBA As much as maybe some other sports that I cover a bit more often. I'm so impressed with Adam. Silver and kind of his foresight in the way that he operates as a leader. How would you describe what what he does the Commissioner of the NBA well? I think Adam doesn't unbelievable job in. It's been great getting to know Adam. And Adam is is a commissioner for all the owners and all players. And he's going to always do what's in our best interest. But what? I like is an entrepreneur. Is that Adam is always looking out in. How do I make the NBA? So much better five years from now ten years from now and the team that he's put together up there with rick and mark and everybody up there. It's we want want to be the leader. We want to be the best and not sit on our hands and and not do something that always makes the NBA special health. Talk to the other owners. And which one impresses you the most every one of them impresses me if you WanNa know the truth because they found the the way to to to be one of thirty owners in the NBA. So I'm quite impressed with all of them but you know certain ones better than others others you know. I talked to Joe and Golden State. I talked to mark in In Milwaukee and I talked to a lot of different owners in and and they're all great guys like Steve. Of course in the clippers. Everybody I mean I really go down. Everyone individually and say something nice about every single one of the owners that we have in the NBA. The foundation of your entire empire. It seems is watching your dad work in a restaurant that he had when you were a kid. What did you learn watching your dad work? My family is a family of And I'm going back generations of entrepreneurs my my Dad's dad was an entrepreneur Mothers Dad was an entrepreneur. And they're definitely in your genes your DNA and Thank God maybe got it a little better than everybody else. But it's it's tough in. At least a God given talent main on never been the smartest guy in the room. I've never been A. That's smart guy but but always just was given the gift understand business and if you take your that entrepreneurial brain with the with the warning to win no matter what business. You're in the gaming business retrofitted hotel business with the basketball business. The sports business the to go really well together and I get to be an entrepreneur. You know helping and signing off on players for the Houston Rockets and and you know more than anything I think. Wow I've I've been successful. I know what I know and I know what I don't know and I know what I know to make that used rocket successful and I know what I don't know and that is evaluating talent. Read where one of your jobs when you were younger was peeling shrimp at the old man's restaurant. What do you remember about doing that? Well I mean I just remember you know learning all the positions and saying Gosh. I WANNA know how to run the front of the House. I want to know how to cook. I WanNa know you know how to build shrimp? Outta BY SEAFOOD. And I remember when I was twelve years old. I told my dad. Listen you need to go home and let me run this thing. Because I've got some really good ideas and you know and you know I can remember when I had five restaurants and I still think that you watch your dad and you watch l. Aren't they work? But I can remember when I was really successful. You know in the early nineties or late. Eighties late eighties. I had five restaurants you know when I was making gosh a couple of million dollars a year you go back to the eighties. That's a bunch of money. Excuse me my dad's saying to me. Why don't you slow down? Why what is wrong? You are making so much money. What why do you want anything else in life that you know at times? I thought that in for me I just want to keep on going and you know thank God I didn't get to own. The Houston. Rockets was greatest joy in the world. What is the most important leadership trait for someone in a position like yours? It's nice to be important. It's more important to be nice in people knowing that you're the best leader. They can work for a I. I have probably thirty people that are my top executives that have been with me over twenty five years. I have two assistant sitting right outside my door that have been with me. Twenty eight and twenty six years now. They could have filled the bathtub full of tears that I've put him in but but You know everybody likes a strong leader and and knowing that are they going to help me to the promised land when this whole thing happened or even though all my people see that you know how tough it is and they have faith in their leader. I mean we're all making fifty percent of what we used to make right now because the company so big. We're all doing whatever it takes to make sure it's GonNa come back and be successful and You know this one division of Tillman fatigued companies. But but you know it's the hospitality business in the gaming business which is our four billion dollar revenue business. The seven hundred million in Eba that gave me the opportunity to down the rockets and gave me the opportunity to own five star hotels. And you know it's the engine and everybody wants to see it back and and whole and we'll be back if America comes back I can promise you landry's we'll be back one hundred percent. We're just fighting it hard right now. Let's run. I've kept you too long already. Absolutely this is fun. They're great questions and you're at icon in your business. Well thank you sir. It's very can. What would you say is the most difficult decision you've had to make as the as that leader of your of your businesses. You don't like upsetting people's lives and and you know the greatest joy that I've had in life and I'd probably take the most sprite in is that I've made so many hundreds of people's lives better than they ever thought they were going to have because they grown with me from the beginning in this business and I've watched people have great lifestyles. But then the sadness is that when something like this happens that hadn't we were having our best year ever at Landry's just our growth and some. We just bought the the palm chain the previous week. Then Bob Monday. They were all shut down. While this the sadnesses having to furlough all these people where were where you can only pay so much severance and and and and and it changing their lives. I mean I just want this over to get all these people back to work in all of us feel especially them as little pain as possible. You last fall released shut up and listen a New York Times bestseller. Congratulations on that as well. What is the value of listening? You know I've always listened in and I tell people every day is is a A listening day and you'll learn something and you know it's kind of funny because I've had to go back and and live my book the last thirty days and a lot of ways of giving. I'm having to listen to right now and and you know a lot of the a lot of the little teachings that I did in my show billion dollar by I'm having to live myself right now but but I've always believed that. Listen and you'll always learn a lot and I've learned a lot every single day that we've been in this crisis. What are some of those lessons that you wrote about that? You're currently living. Well you borrow money when you don't need it number one and and there's a paddle for everybody's I asked to always set yourself up to be successful. It's knowing your numbers that his biggest my company is within three days I had a daily cash. "It's not in my DNA to rebuild and and but at the same time even when you're not rebuilding there's only so many years that if you're a real listed you could really win a championship and I have Russell and James the next three years and you know we're going to do whatever we can do to be one of those top four five teams. I mean I. We were really special the last two years with Chris Paul and James Harden and I listen to my basketball people. And you know it's nice to be able to be the guy that signs off on it at the end but thank God. "Performance line pennzoil synthetic motor oils are made from natural gas gives you unbeatable engine protection. The proof is in the pennzoil based on sequence four test using S. A. E. W. thirty. Now here's what we're asking you guys know. I'm all in on the books. I keep telling you that throughout the course of the year but people tell me that it's a more wide open race so we're asking you. Who's the biggest threat in the east to Milwaukee we want you to chime in on the Shell Pennzoil performance on triple eight say? Espn eight eight. Eight seven two nine three seven seven six. You can also tweet me at Jason Fitz. It is interesting the majority of the tweets and calls. We've gotten so far. Have been for the Celtics. Getting a lot for the seventy sixers. We are getting zero love for the heat other than Steven A. And His love of Miami. Nobody seems to be supporting the heat. So I want you to chime in. I want to tell me who and why also surprised. I'm not getting more raptors love. I mean they've gone on a run so chiming tell us who. And why triple eight say. Espn eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six also again. You can tweet me at Jason Fitz Use Hashtag. I take now. In the meantime. Let swing over to the West. At this point the Lakers have a five game lead over Denver but the next six contenders in the West. That's the nuggets Clippers rockets jazz thunder. Mavericks are all separated by just five games themselves so this is interesting to me because rockets. Omar owner Tillman for TITA. Had some comments about the West leaders and he said and he told the Austin American statesman. This is a quote. I'm not worried about anybody in the West. None of us. Fear L. A. Or the clippers or Denver like we feared Golden State. It's not like how we were scared of them. We could easily win the West this year or get knocked out in the first round. Our chances are as good as they've ever been interesting to me that you have the owner of the rockets coming in and saying they were scared of Golden State. I'm stunned by this. In the meantime you know for steak is gonNA react to it. So Dominic Foxworth senior writer for the undefeated. Join Maxon Stephen. And they reacted to these. I think shocking comments. From the rockets ownership the spokeswoman for Tita about this he said it was about compensation about his book and he was asked about. You know there is no golden state. So what he was saying is it's wide open because that was to block the juggernaut and everybody was fearing everybody was looking at them. There's no one to fear. Now because will go on. So it was a compensation evolved in strictly around this book. It wasn't a direct assault against the clippers or the Lakers. That ask you this because I find it interesting. Do you agree with him? That nobody fears the Lakers and the clippers. Yeah glad do I totally. I totally agree with that. Because you have to understand something. It's incredibly on the DISTAL Maginness Second Zion Williamson. You can jump out of the moon. You'll Lebron James and you know you just you know you the physical specimen and you all of these things right and somebody rolls into the arena. Can pull up from. There is nothing you can do about that. That is something to this. Nothing you can do because if you really really think about it when you defending what are you doing you pick it up whining full court because you're trying to pressure their ball handling and then after that you get you get inside the three point line or whatever right by the three point line you got conventionally speaking we're Klay Thompson and stuff career they literally Wa- threat from the moment they step foot path half court then extended defects. That opens up your entire office and it exposes you. It makes you more vulnerable but the point that I wanNA make about what Tillman. Fourteen said to me. Is this Daryl Maurice Fine Darryl Maurice Safe but then Tony who did not successfully negotiate a contract extension? Tim For teenagers is looking at the moves. He's not stood in the way he's letdown marina. Dan Tony do what they want to do. In terms of the personnel that they wanted Russell Westbrook and everybody else trade and click on all this other stuff like this where you don't do. Here's what I thought and so I think it it's one of those situations where he's saying. I don't look at anybody or as unbeatable which means our chances elevated and we would knock on the door when there was a juggernaut. How can we can't kick the door in now? That does not take for. What is if they're scared. That would explain it because if for Titas thinking that Dantonio is the problem. I'm saying he's wrong. I know he watches the show. That's not right. Look the Houston. The reason people feared the warriors and so much is fear. Plays a role in basketball. It's not a full contact sport but there's still like psychological you don't WanNa lose and all that is that the warriors with K. D. We're way better than any of the teams around this year. They were one of the greatest of an argument. The greatest team ever when they had Katie. They'd be impossible to beat a team like that and they were historically great and yet because of the team. That Daryl Morey assembled and the system that Dantonio ran only policing the best bets and placing the most of them. The rockets were had home court and forced a game seven against the team. That was way better than them. The rockets were very talented team. Had No business in the game seven at home in the playoffs against a fully loaded and healthy steph curry Klay Thompson draymond green and Kevin Durant warriors. They had no business and yet there they were so you mean to tell me that it just so happens that they went over twenty seven in one stretch from three they missed twenty seven straight threes. I mean there. There's odds that they could they just the luck of the draw when you shoot that many threes. Maybe you go cold on once. I'm sorry I find that awfully convenient coincidence that in a game seven at home against maybe. The best team assembled in the middle of their primes. You lose by single digits and go over twenty seven from the place you make your money. Usually that is not coincidence. That is a team that was emotionally rattled. That was scared on some level. That didn't believe they could do it. I'd pick them to win that game. They should've won that game as the inferior team but largely. It's precisely because of Dan. Tony System that they should have done it to blame Dan. Tony on that is foolhardy. James Harden was the leader. James Harden was ice cold. The rest of the team followed. That was the problem but the it seems to me that you guys are focusing on the idea that you agree that they were scared. That's what job house. We don't agree. I don't see why scared they were the only team or one of the few teams in the West. That was not scared everyone else was like. Let's pack it in for the future. The rockets are the only team that is like no. We're not scared we're going to war. That's that's the part that was offensive to me in for Dita's comment was. He said about his own players and his team when everything that they did. You're going to argue that. They're scared because they missed a bunch of shots in that situation. I don't think that was fair. They were in that situation. They should have won that year because the fact is because their team leaned in because their coach leaned in and they didn't sell all their assets and just wait for the dynasty of the warriors to fall apart. I think that they weren't scared. And as a player I'd be offended. Frankly the owner of the team is suggesting that the reason why we lost was he scared like you mentioned. It's basketball this fighting box. This is an imminent MMA. It's not even football. But what are you scared about? What's going to happen? You're going to lose like nobody's going to hurt you. Well Okay Dominique since you ask leaned into what they view said. The team lead and they leaned into Dan Tony. System of voiding the only the highest percentage shots. That's the reason that they got there. But in the moment of truth I find it more than a coincidence that they had the cold-shooting streak from three of all time in a game. Seven against that team at home of what Thomas and my problem with your synopsis is that it's one thing to sit up the essay against that team and it's another thing to say a game seven. There's a whole bunch of people to our history. They get tight in a game seven. It's a game seven so again. It's not about Golden State. It might have been about game seven because poems get sweaty backward. Odds get tight the pressure of the gains that it might have explained the old for twelve shooting performance from a Trevor Rees who the damn good player James Harden struggling even though he averaged over thirty that series the list goes on and on. My point is is that I'm of the belief that no matter what the Houston Rockets will have done that. Gain Golden State would have done better because Kevin Durant Klay Thompson and Steph. Curry would have found a weber. No but I wasn't scared by the way we'll never know but what I'm saying. Is You could argue. I think it's both I think. Absolutely palms get sweaty in a game seven they. They hadn't been scared until then it was like game seven against that warriors team and I look at those games. It was a scam for those three wins when the chips are on the line you find out and that's that's that's an argument that proves that would suggest that game seven the reason not to fear seven brings that out because it's all on the line guys that's when you got to perform. I've no problem with the general concept of Tim for Titas concept that the West is more wide open than it was last year. It's still shocking to me to hear him say things like they feared Golden State last year. Don't forget guys to college. Basketball season is here. That means Wendy's wouldn't watch has begun. Go TO ESPN DOT COM. Wouldn't watch for the list of wooden award late season. Top twenty nominees to watch as the season rolls on. How about Duke last night and Michigan State? I W- heck of a game last night. All of that makes me want to junior bacon cheeseburger. All right what we're asking you is who do you think is the biggest threat and east to the bucks you know how high on the bucks at this point convince me that somebody out there can give them a run for their money? Dylan in Miami. We've urged them. I Take I want your take who you got so I think Miami would be the biggest contender at the moment. With newly acquired Andre Igwe Dolla a great perimeter defender to slow down Jaanus. Donald is going to get his but I feel the key is to slow Chris Milton. I feel that you mean baller. We'll get that done and get their offense going. Okay so let me ask you this because I think that makes a lot of sense what you're saying about so middleton down but are you getting enough from etc at this point offensively because there just hasn't been much there I agree. I feel like it'd be comes back to somewhat. Warriors like healthiness in the playoffs to like in the semis. I think they got a good chance to go seven games and possibly when I still believe the Celtics are GonNa win in the whole east. Wow Okay so the biggest threat going all over the place at this point the biggest threat to the bucks. Now you're telling me it's the heat but you're telling me the Celtics are GonNa Win The east. I don't know what's going on Dylan. You're confusing me at this point. Triple eight say. Espn eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven six. I do agree. The body size of the heat will make it a match up nightmare as we continue to look on. "So Kelly can you quickly breakdown for us. What are the benefits and risks of putting a really small team on the court? You get more shots up. You can play faster. You can kind of use your speed to force turnovers and get an advantage on their opponent. That is the benefit of the small ball line of Transit Point Snyder disadvantages others you give up a Lotta height rebounding. You might sacrifice paint protection and protection and there's a chance that you get it on on the glass second chance opportunities and things like that changed last shot. Blockers look for the Lakers. The CIA layup every night. Not One shot on the floor for these the rockets and you know this is something that's been tried in the NBA. Before but how? Extreme is the version that the rockets are playing right now. Is there a word for anything? More than superstring. I mean what the rockets are doing right. Now has been nervous before they have clearly made the statement. We can defend on the perimeter. But you can get us in the interior but it won't matter because three threes outskirts too. That's what they're betting the guy behind. This big gamble is the rockets coach. Mike Deane Tony. First of all can use a little bit about him like what's his personality. Oh Mike is A. He's probably the best coach to talk to. Because he's someone who's very blunk he doesn't sugarcoat anything you know. It's funny because I read somewhere. We dropped in pace. We didn't draw bay faster last year the year before. Five was the whole. Don't leak was faster. So yeah we dropped down but we played faster and we even when he empowers is players. He empowers people around him and he's a pleasure to be around. It makes covering the team a lot more interesting and fun. You know because everyone has been around the coach grumbles and his one liners and stuff like that but Mike is Mike is Special and Dantonio has been championing. This small ball style of play for quite a while. Now.

"Hey we'll take on this Friday eve Max Kellerman Mulcair Monroe's how's everybody failing to the morning. All all right around sick but I'm okay. That's what happens when you're on twenty four hours a day or when you stuck in within one minute you're ninety degree weather like we were in Arizona and and another day when you go from ninety degrees to thirty degrees. That'll do it when I'm here. Let's okay all the dog it's been about L. A.. Houston reminding folks they are out here. James Harden in the rockets defending core forty seven points six rebounds seven assists seventeen of his forty seven points. This came in the fourth quarter. Max Out scoring. The clippers team tend to to in clutch time. How impress where you but those rockets I I was impressed? The rockets James Harden is the MVP the League so far. He is doing his thing as he does. Every season. I thought Steph curry was GONNA win. MVP this year. But I knew harden would be right there. Maybe he would get a sympathy vote since they seem to give it to someone else every year and he's just as good as anyone in the regular season in fact I think he probably wins it this year Steven A.. Because if he averages close to forty points a game and the rockets are winning. What are they gonNA do? Click Capella had a big game. All those things is but Stephen a get back to me in the playoffs. I hate to be that guy but here I am the the fact of the matter. Is We already know. James Hart is one of the greatest regular season performers in the history of any sport. It right like I think about Clayton Kershaw or even Peyton manning who wound up with a couple of super bowls but these guys were in the regular season as an only God that may be the best guy whoever did it Clayton Kershaw in his prime might be the greatest. He's on a shortlist of the best. Starting pitchers who ever lived in the postseason one good just was seemed guy like twice as half as good as you normally. It's less than that Peyton manning to regular season. Nfl We all know Peyton. Manning is the best football player who ever lived because of the importance of the quarterback the way he played regular season Peyton. Manning was way better than Tom. Tom Brady right but under pressure in the playoffs. peyton manning was not the same guy. I take no pleasure in saying this but I'm not afraid to tell you how it is. Either James Harden Steven A. is putting up juiced baseball era numbers like what what how many points with the assists the rebounds and he's doing it efficiently and his defense is getting better Stephen. Ai Tip my captain. He was the best S. player on the floor last night and that floor included Leonard who clutch shot late in the game to give him lead the whole thing at harden took over. I tip Mike Captain. How ever these are not the playoffs? And he like my opinion of him in that way is not going to change Sean till I see him do it in the playoffs. First of all let me educate you about a couple of things number one. He has not been that efficient is not as efficient as he's going to be right now. He's shooting forty percent from the field thirty one percent from three point range. Even though he's averaging thirty eight points per game he shoot nearly twenty five times a game. Twenty four four point five to be exact. That's not exactly efficient so he's not my is at this particular moment in time and this does far. He's not my now to me. He is the two time league. MVP should have won it last year. Just like you wanted the year before. I didn't think the Greek freak deserved it over him last year. And I don't believe that what you see from James Harden in in terms of collectively what. He's done numbers wise the season. It's what's going to. It's going to continue. I think you'll see more of a version of what you saw. Last night I could see him dropping forty plus on forty six percent shooting from the field. That's what I see. He's not there yet. He's actually going to get better as the season progresses. But I'll tell you what impresses has me about the Houston Rockets. and Der Maureen are having an extensive conversation about this last night. When I look at the Houston Rockets? I'm looking at a guy like a Russell. Westbrook Brooke who obviously went into the game shooting. Twenty one percent from three point range hit two of seven last night which is at around twenty eight percent. You would like to get him to shoot better from quite rate talking to my Dad Tony before the game. I didn't Tony. I don't care about that. Let Ross Be Russ because I might want other people to shoot the three or whatever but I'm not gonNa take away his mid range game or his ability to get to the basket and be unstoppable in that regard he's Russell freaking Westwood. Let him be who he is and I agree with that but as I watched the Houston Rockets. Here's what impresses me. I look at the Los Angeles Clippers. How deep they are? I'm looking at a guy like Paul George. Wallace spoke to before last night's Game Salvi in wishing he had come back last night as opposed coming back tonight against New Orleans. That's what he wanted to do. I'm looking get how deep they are and I'm saying what's the kind of thing that can stop them because clearly from a collection standpoint the clippers the best team in basketball. I don't care what anybody says. They're too the deep at every single position. Once Georgia's their whitaker wildland with those two and Lou Williams on the floor Lord have mercy is would be something special what what can derail them an explosive offensive performance. That simply cannot be stopped that is James hearted but as I was explaining a darrow. Maury we it's how you do it with Houston to me that matters if James Harden is dancing going one on one Max. He's not going to get it done. That's not going to get it done in a best in a best of seven game series against the likes of a clippers or even a laker squad. Not If you're catching and shooting and you're moving without the ball just a little bit more and other people are involved even though you're still getting your shot because catching and shooting as opposed to hold in the basketball good ball for about ten seconds dancing on somebody. Then that's a different ballgame so it's not about it's not about what Houston does overall. It's about how if they go about getting it done. The kind of game that they play has to change a little bit down. Maurienne are talking last night. And one of the things he said to me is to my den. Tony's credit he actually would like to see what I just suggested a little bit more. Not that you want to get in the way of James Harden you don't WanNa get in the way of what he's doing how he's doing it to some degree agree but other degrees you gotta score quicker. Meaning they just get it and go you either shoot or go. As opposed to hold the ball allowing a defense to get that sets right and settled going up against you and I think if they do that Max then what you're saying and what you have said about James Harden will change. Because because I think you'll see Houston be more effective and they could end up being the threat in the western conference to both La Teams. They have the potential to not anybody everybody off with how explosive offense although last night notwithstanding their defense hasn't been great as usual this season so far but I believe it or not they actually getting better defensively League which tells you how bad early on no doubt doubt the look what you're saying is right. I think that's that's actually also conventional basketball wisdom like the rockets play play extremely efficiently and yet in that efficiency only taking shots and hardened sobol dominant in the moment of truth. There's kind of like a team thing that happens when the ball's not moving when guy hardens not moving the ball should catch the kind of things that you just outlined a little bit more probably probably would help them and maybe even helps James Harden in the clutch but Stephen we see him able to score in isolation at will so in the regular season but with the chips on the line in the playoffs. He hasn't and that's my issue. By the way I want to address something else. Russell Westbrook after the game. Step out Patrick. Beverley that he tricks he tricks. y'All he says he's playing defense guard. Nobody is just running around doing nothing all that commotion to Get.

"But if we if you if we do not look at the scoreboard during this series. We would think it's overall almost. The rockets are playing better basketball, the rockets of should be feeling better about themselves. And by the way, Draymond green said something very precious, by the way about the physicality nature of this series, and how they are being physical and how they haven't had a proper response yet. And they're going to have to wake up he even said we're getting slapped around. Okay. And so that's what's happening here. Having the set all that they almost pulled it out last night anyway because they still have this talent. But the answer this question is yes to walk. It should be feeling better about themselves fright. Could you throw your hat in the ring here on the idea that the warriors are still figuring themselves out? Well, I would say this about them. If you look at what's going on in the postseason, they've been vulnerable at home already lost two games, and that was to the clippers. So I think what they're trying to figure out is a way to stop James harden because Bob's point you go to game six last year. They did not have Chris Paul. They did not have Chris all in game seven now that everybody's healthy. And I also think that the rockets are winning a bit of the psychological battle after the game last night. Steve Kerr said it's middle linebackers against volleyball players basic trying to buy we're getting pushed around, and I think that audit and all the complaining that the rockets did might be helping them out at this point. This is not being cheeky in any way, the debt lineup knows each other. They played with each other for years now under stays that lineup lot. It's team. This rockets team is equipped to match that and they have something in PJ Tucker. That's a nightmare for this lineup right now. And he is killing them with those rebounds, especially that death lineup is fantastic. But they do have weaknesses there smallish, and they have to play physical. It's the danger of trying to turn it on. Come the playoffs. When you haven't realized what it takes to play at this level when the rest of the league has been slowly catching. Here's an. Regal inside the death lineup here. Bob, Ryan, it's not as deadly as it used to be true or false. That's not the issue. Maybe is a little bit less. But the fact is when you go to the Hampton five you have no bench. Now, they don't have a bench. At least the rockets are getting something out of somebody named Austin rivers, which we weren't counting on. That's another factor. Also in this matchup. They get killed on the glass when they go to to to death lineup or the handed five or whatever you wanna call it. So to sum it all does this year feel different to you is to last year if you'll difference you this year, it's an extension. We know how close to where last year it makes perfect sense that they're in a good position this year only Bob gets to answer that question because I stepped on his time before that is derived, we move books thirteen six one zero one the wave of inevitability that is Milwaukee and the puddle of unreliability that is Boston, which I believe is something Israel's tears wants imparted on this show as segment that takes about thirty seconds. But if you really time that usually about twenty or twenty five. Kyri slough. Let's hear from you know, for me the twenty two shots. I should've shot thirty really great shooter. So. Can you start by dressing?.

"Go to the rim get a couple of easy buckets in and reset yourself but the issue for the rockets is that this is always been how they reset themselves this year you hit open threes and it wasn't for a lack of looks they were all right there the issue to me is when you watch what happened to houston last night and there are certainly a lot of rockets fans out there that are sitting there in there going over that game and they're saying oh man if paul was just playing they would've won they either would've won game six so that would have won game seven i go the opposite direction because i always thought that golden state was gonna win the series even after they lost engaged five there but if you're a rockets fan forget the system for a second do you feel like they just blew their best chance that they're gonna have because with where they're at salary cap wise you gotta figure out what you're doing with clint cappella you know i i saw stephen as saying that they should go after lebron this summer what do you do to assure your your yourself a better chance than what you had last night and i don't know if there is one especially when you look back at chris paul's career the last couple of years he's always out for a chunk of games and this came at really bad time for him but he's getting older and he gets hurt and this is what happens and i think the getting older part is is the part that's decks because you look at some other teams the sixers the celtics that are that are newly appointed as as playoff competitions as contenders and you say they're only going to get better in theory right they're gonna get injured people back or they're going to get more experience for young guys in this case your team is predicated on older guys who have experienced ready who need to stay healthy and at at the very best estimate i guess would improve upon understanding the system and their play together i mean i guess the only knock on the rockets you could say is that they made it this far playing with this particular.

"Rockets won sixty five games this year and their best player went off in game one and they lost by double digits warriors ain't fair are stephen a smith says the solution james harden needs everyone else to step up of course james harden has to continue to be that guy but chris paul it was twenty three and eleven rebounds he led them rebounds this says you might need more from chris paul because he's going to get the high powered offense in the golden state warriors and james harden is gonna need all the help that he can get gordon needs to be more effective trevor reason needs not get caught up emotionally into the gang getting physical getting in people's faces he needs to make sure he stays out of foul trouble if trevor rees adam picked up a fifth foul early in the second half who knows how this game panned out so trevor aretha in eric gordon staying on the court and be an effective click cappella be more actively involved in terms of them throwing him more alley oops then of course chris paul being more offensive minded than he was tonight or all things that the houston rockets would need in order to win this series but here's the sad part having said everything that i just said with soliloquy that still might not be enough to be the reigning defending world champ person last michael junior here on espn radio that's the reality at the end you look at all of that last night and that's to say it looked like their best effort wasn't enough because styles make fights and you saw what we all identified going into this series last night which is that the two differing styles of these teams are going to be at war and we were interested to see which side one and only one side sputtered ran out of gas and that was the houston rockets because yours whole being was predicated on one player being able to.

"The houston rockets in the oklahoma city thunder came into focus you had the paul george trade carmelo anthony finally came over after that long about with the knicks but it was chris paul to the rockets in a move that i think we all knew was significant at the time but didn't quite know it was going to be vis significant and play out this well in illicit vis kind of response responses like this from our own stephen a smith the of the one team in the entire nba that can engaged in a shootout with the golden state warriors and you still have to give them a twenty to twenty five percent chance you can't say that about anybody else in the national basketball association because there was no one else capable of getting in a shootout with the golden state warriors but this team is and we saw evidence of that tonight not just because of the ability to hit threes but they're also the ability to hit from the free throw line as they did in the fourth quarter finisher with twenty five twenty not just can't ignore that personalize michael junior here on espn radio the ears pierre an app and that's just it they can do it in so many ways this team really is the perfect representation of its star point guard because james harden one of the advantages and i was out in la on sports nation last week talking about james harden as one of the great isolation players we've seen in one of the reasons that i cited for him being able to throw his hat in the ring with almost anyone is it's not just that jayme heart james harden is a shooter.
