Inside Look at World’s First 3D-Printed Rocket

"Now to our series the new space race in our exclusive inside. Look at something that could revolutionize space travel. It's the world's first three d. printed rocket. Here's jacob board. It wants took thousands of american engineers more than a decade to get something into space. Now this company says it's huge three d. printers can make a rocket in two months. Maybe less we have a fourth generation printer if you haven't talked about publicly yet but it's ten times faster printing than this so instead of building a rocket few slides in sixty days. It'll take six days. Not only can the company make the big parts of a rocket like a nosecone but they can also make all the intricate components of the engines to one zero. The first launch plan for twenty twenty. Two relativity rockets is like a lower budget competitor to spacex carrying satellites for nasa the department of defense and a half dozen private companies at about a quarter of competing launch prices. But with one point three billion in funding it doesn't exactly feel low budget clients. I'm assuming are going to pay you enough to somehow make this all work more than enough to justify it. We make twelve million dollars launch from the customers. We signed up. We've signed up more launches than any other company in history before flying. Ellis doesn't just want to make deliveries into orbit though. I want to put a million people in mars. How far out into space do you think a commercial space industry can take it. It's really about the time line. And i think i liked it very much to back when we found founded the new world with christopher columbus. Yes certainly it'll be government. Houston Rockets, John Wall Working to Find Trade Deal

"Keith, let's start things off with John wall, a Houston rocket for now. But will not be a Houston rocket into the future. It sounds like he is going to be treatable. The rockets are hoping. They're hoping anyway. Let's get into that. What's going to happen here? The rockets, John wall working together to try to find a trade and he will not play any more games for Houston. Yeah, so this is that working together part is where it's very different from the 76ers and Ben Simmons who are not exactly working together. They're kind of working apart right now. So it sounds like by all accounts John wall has been very good in his time in Houston. He's been somebody that the younger players have really come to rely on for leadership. He's been a great leader for them. In the rockets are looking at insane. Look, we have a ton of guards that we want to play young guards to Kevin Porter junior, jaylen green, Josh Christopher, just adding in the last couple of years. Kyrie Thomas, who we picked up on a late season edition last year and he played quite well for them. So they want to play those guys. They don't necessarily want to play John wall, nor do they want to have John wall get hurt in kind of completely ruined maybe whatever little tiny modicum of trade value he may have left. There's no other way to slice this. It's 91.6 million. That he is owed. It's bad money. There's John wall would probably say at the same thing. Good for John wall for getting him what he did. And this is why you should never criticize a pointer for taking a max contract when it's offered to him. Team, other story we can have there. But at the time this contract was offered, wasn't necessarily as a bad contract. And either he's one of the first class of supermax guys to get it. So yeah, so what they're going to do is they're going to have them come to camp. He sounds like he's going to be there to kind of almost be like a glorified assistant coach. "Skills. And so i don't really see a world where mobile wins like the top three rookie year. Just because the stuff that he's good at is particularly the sort of thing that wins you now the rookie of the year. Even like predictive of it's basically just i. It's sort of like six points per game than you know. Yeah i i agree. I think you know i mean like you said earlier. There's very there's very rarely a rookie. Who comes in and is actually good late. And i do think this draft is going to kind of create a bulk of. I think there's gonna be a good amount of players in this draft you are rotational players for the near future How many of them are impact for near one. Will we'll see we'll very much cbo before we before we end. I do want to ask you two questions one. If you are in the rockets war room. I mean you might not know who the rockets wants today. But in your opinion at those twenty three and twenty four big who would you take a tough question And i'm in so much of it is tied to who you take it to. So i'm gonna toss out a number of names ago for Who possibilities i mean. This is a draft. Were again so many things are going to happen. Say something things can happen. "Name's image and you guys can find me on twitter at finding twenty three and a podcast at jazzy rockets. And now we are only twelve days away from the drafts. The rockets still have the second the twenty third and the twenty four th pick a little bit of drama going around with those picks maybe we trade up for number one and take gade cunningham and maybe we pressure you know detroit possibly take jalen green number one And there's a lot of things that can happen but today we're here to talk a little bit about some prospects of the rockets could take a some prospects in this draft and a little bit about how to go about the draft process. We're here with one. Of in my opinion the best guys on draft twitter of great at breakdowns. Anybody watch some recently. And if you haven't definitely go check it out Very very in depth. And i learned a lot just from watching those pd web pd. How're you doing today. We're entering stretch The most stressful times of the year of rumors were for trying to get everything done and trying to feel. Like you're in a good place but Yeah it's also the most exciting time it's it's very exciting and you know with the situation that the rockets are in especially with all the stuff that happened last year a three picks in this draft might just be the best way to kind of really get the rebuild started especially with the number two big and you have a guy that you think we should take number two but before we get into that. I wanna ask some things about the draft process and the process of scouting And specifically what kind of things do you look for in prospects What are the things that stand out to you. And what sort of attributes do you think are the most important. I think that there's not a universal most important I think the who. When i'm looking at a general prospect I'm thinking like what they're what they're nba. Skill is the thing that they're going to do it like a questionable in the nba. And then you know once once they have that skeleton say like they're they're an mba plus shooter than it's tearing you know what is that look like forgot korca's for catching shoot For a guy like a bone thailand bets shooting in in in versatile situations. And then you know to figure out where somebody belongs kind of. Try to thank you. Know what is the will how it a medium. tv's it's like has a good developmental environment team. That has a like a fine situational fit. What is the worst possible fit for them. Like what is the best possible but in kinda work from there. I mean my general idea is if somebody is you know in this draft process. There is a circumstance where they can be a really positive player as just trying to find the best circumstance for everybody and trying to find the more the the players highest likelihood of finding no good outcomes whenever you're looking at like these different attributes for players and seeing if they're translatable to the nba. Are there any kind of attributes that you know in. Your opinion are easier to translate than others. I think that like like soft skills always translate well so like really good communicators players with with good movement skills so the ability to turn their hips..

This offseason go into the next CBA agreement, and twenty twenty-three. And then log, About some, you know, some hypotheticals we'd like to see be brought up potentially in the next CBA agreement. So going on to start with some teams and just some of the biggest salary cap implications, this is Rockets podcast. So we're gonna go ahead and start with the Houston Rockets Allen. What do you think is the best move for the Rockets to go about this offseason? I mean, obviously there's a lot of things up in the air with whether or not that pick pans out, but we have about, I believe it's, we have about a maximum amount of space of about Seventeen million dollars this year. And that's, you know, if she, if we were to also get rid of Kelly Embrace Kap R. Kelly very well, if you're also able to get rid of Kelly, Olynyk scaffold, we have about Seventeen point, eight million dollars in cap room. But, you know, you get that number one pick that's about an eight or nine million dollar contract, I believe, in, in year one. So that brings you down a lot and you probably want to bring back a Linux or what do you think is the birth? The the best thing that like the rockets need to do. So there are two schools of thought out there. There's, there's a large sector of rockets fans who say Houston should show me about John Wong. Clear cap space that way..

"He's the best big man of all time when go into a little bit further but before we do that we just to the judge address some of the negatives i here on gen z hoops. W we're not going to talk about the positives and just completely forget about the things that heard arguments. We're going to talk about them. Now is the failed big three in houston ninety six ninety seven ninety eight ninety nine years. Where like we said. They wouldn't have beat the bulls and people my point those but where we're aware that those years the bowls of dennis rodman their teams completely different stuff can happen but like the same situation there but that that year right. The rockets were favored. Because they had scottie pippen ninety nine they had charles barkley by later on right in the middle of that. What ended up happening there to those rockets teams in. Why do you think they weren't able to to click the web when thought they would. Let's start with ninety six ninety seven right so that's why not. That's charles barkley ruins rockets. You makes all star team that year. He averaged nineteen points per game. Clyde drexler is on that team keno Charles barkley's thirty three. You don't have any you don't have vernon maxwell on the squad anymore. You don't have kenny smith on the squad anymore. You don't have sam cassell. No more robert ory. The clutch city teams not their end. So charles barkley missed thirty games. Clyde drexler misled twenty gains. And we still finish. We made to the western conference finals. Ali nobody's you know. We made finals. We take the jazz to six games. And that's whenever the jazz lost to the bulls in six in ninety seven when they did it again. Ninety eight and so in nineteen ninety eight. We played a jazz in the first round. You play team. That goes all their files but we forty one forty one year again. Not good akeem missed a lot of time. That season barkley also michigan amount of time. And so two clyde drexler so you. These guys are going towards the end of their career So the thing about this year in my opinion. It's you start seeing some new guys right. So katina moberly. Who's one of my favorite rockets of all time. This is a his rookie season. Scotty pippin scottie. Pippen comes to the rockets. After his his bulls ten year the big three or the did they do the three p. They they have their fun. We all watch the last dance. We also have that one This is the lockout year two so thirty one. There's fifty games Thirty one nineteen again. Not that scotty. Averages fifteen points per game plays every game averages..

fifteen points kenny smith six games Clyde drexler thirty games six sam cassell charles barkley houston ninety seven vernon maxwell first round fifty games thirty three twenty gains dennis rodman katina moberly Pippen Charles barkley ten year

"The rockets won five out of the six matchups actually in ninety three to ninety five the two years that michael wasn't there. The rockets were two and two against them and put my but the thing. Is you put michael on those teams. They still didn't have an answer for hakeem. Lajoie michael jordan and south has said. We didn't wanna see houston because we didn't have an answer from a key. Everybody in the league at the time. Everybody at the time knew that if the rockets and the bulls met up in the finals they had no answer for a lot. Now did the rockets. Have an answer for michael jordan. Nobody in the league nobody in the league but it with the rockets out was they had a bunch of the league wing. Defenders that you can just toss at akim any You can just toss at michael over and over and over and over and over and over again eventually. something's gonna take eventually one game. It's gonna work the differences mean that though is you know you. You're able to lock him out. Maybe one or two minutes and then he figures out how to beat the guy and then you switch it over twenty two meds exactly beat the guy. They had zero people who can hold a team for thirty seconds. Like hey chemo dominated the bulls. We have seen an insane stat. Line of all my god. this guy. Average forty twenty eight in playoffs and it's not eight assists. It's eight blocks a game. You know like like the fact that people say that the ninety four ninety five rings are not real. Because michael template mind you. He did play a ninety five. And i don't care about the fact that he only had seventeen games or whatever and he was wearing number forty five not number twenty three. It's still michael jordan. And he still plagued professional sports. And you want me to believe that. This man wasn't just playing basketball in his free time. He was like i'm completely retired. I'm not going to touch the ball for two years. Come on by..

John hart phyllis the franchise briars and nemo what's going on it going Doing all right ready for my on my semester to end so definitely. It's coming up soon for for the both of us Just on on this beautiful friday. We have made a couple more days left until the semester on summer break and of course just just more gen z. Gen z podcast hosts like me coming on the show and talking about the history of their respective franchises for niemand. Die hard fan his whole life. So we're going to get right into it. I'm actually a huge akina. Lifelong fan a pretty big rockets fan and he was was actually the first episode of big fellas basketball back in june of last year. A significant have. I have a huge affinity for. This team is asian. But no one. I think i've ever met matches your rockets accurate. So let's take it all the way back. Talk to slow bit about the early days of the rockets and what that might have looked like for team. That didn't even start in houston. Yes so Actually the rockets didn't even start. Use the actually started in san diego in one thousand nine hundred sixty seven so the nineteen sixties. There was a space race. And like you know whenever you think about like oh houston rockets will. The johnson space center was built in usa meets in houston actually live really close to it. I like go. What used to go there all the time. Pass by all the time when i go to my house like great place. Actually team actually lives near there. He did his houses at state was right next to the johnson. Space center when you think about. It's like oh the name in the city kind of go hand in hand space city the houston rockets. But actually in the nineteen sixties. Sandiego had a huge aerospace industry and they were given a franchise in nineteen sixty seven hundred sixty seven. What happened in the nineteen sixties the space race right so sandiego was huge usually involved in the space race. There's a lot of city pride for that. And so the city decided on the name of the rockets. So we have the san diego rockets from nineteen sixty seven to nine hundred seventy one. The craziest thing about san diego is honestly like the history of that team literally goes back to your one. We have a huge name. The very first pick from the san diego rockets..

What could you do. It's not your fault you just go ahead. Doing you want and israel all israel's problem israel has to solve all the problems these rousing if that's the narrative it's very unpleasant for us but the palestinians are messed. Oh what can you do. I don't know. I know that you get more clicks on a post if you talk in first person and express emotion with a picture with you in it. What does that have to do this. I don't know. But i tried it and we're going to work like crazy if you say i am feeling x with a picture of you in something interesting. Watch you get a lot of lives. I had no idea what that means. But if you can say something positive israelite doing good. I don't know but i do know this. If you post positive things about israel and forget the concept second. I started a thing on Cigarette i don't remember what it was. No it wasn't graham. I started hashtag real israel because there was this group doing like anti-israel things like the soldier pulling a palestinian out. Hashtag science started posting hashtag. Real israel i got some relatives. I told him students and boom boom boom. Within by the end of the school year there were many many more pictures of sunsets cityscapes and people laughing and flowers and hashtag lisera was. How much do we help the world. i don't know. I don't know how much of this social media world israel but it is this. I will tell you my son asked me today. He said he came home and said me. And my friends are all sharing. But it's not like you old people that use facebook that when you put it on public anyone can see it with us and our friends and my instagram. We're all seeing. We'll say people seeing him because what good is it. Did you feel good when you do that. He said yeah. But what i said. We're under a lot of stress. A little self care is nice and if your friend made you feel good that not only made you feel good for a moment but it also made you feel good that he helped out and i don't know who will see your friends in college somewhere. I don't know we'll have change the world law colleague more the law tub. Anchoring the potomac you don't have to solve the world. Contribute something positive. You want to contribute something clarifying during conflict about truth. Great honestly honestly. I tell you this. I'm an educator. Not an advocate. Meet with advocates. They will tell you how to make a bigger impact in the broader world as an as an educator. I don't know how much of a difference they may. But it should make you feel better that you contributing positively in the of cook said of cook said the real righteous people don't complain about evil the increase goodness. They don't complain about the darkness. They increase the light. They don't complain about stupidity. Increase wisdom expressing with positively with hope hope for peaceful lives for everyone. Sometimes you may not feel that inside so that dumps movement. I don't know i grew up in the seventy s. I got hippie me. I can always sincerely hope for everyone to live in peace and harmony even with my muslim friends. Today i wish my muslim friends on what's out kareem and we should have peace and quiet and he's coming back this long thing. He thought so good. It was so sweet he could play for you. This long run. What's you're so right that we have to learn to where neighbors in book how we get along. Why can't i thought. Honestly i wasn't even thinking about the myself. I was just thinking. I always sent him hugging since. So i'd like oh it's aid sent him but he i don't know i didn't think about it. He must be feeling terrible. He's walked in because he's not allowed to come out of his town to work. Okay i don't know. Maybe i could make donald social media. I don't know do spread positivity into the world and you will find that is a healing thing for you. I don't believe as a religious person that that will not increase goodness in the world. I don't know got that's logically true. But i feel in my heart that when we do when we put the types of post we wanna see that at least incrementally better and that will spread never never post anything mean about other jews. Please please i. I've seen those pose. This is what you want. Jews voted for biden. This is what you get. Is it hoppy. What are you doing what are you doing. It's probably silly. And just don't don't increase anger certainly anywhere in the world. But certainly not to your fellow jew under fire. We should start fighting. What about those jews who are posting horrible horrible things. I don't know what to tell you other than this. Here's how i handled it with people. I know you certainly sound nice. But here's how. I have my emotionally equilibrium talking to somebody. I'm connected to tells me. Israel has no right to exist and that is part of the settler colonialism apartheid ethnic cleansing regime. I think they're called. They're in a cult. Been brainwashed into a cult of deputies cannot hear what i'm explaining okay but there's still inside there somewhere a decent person and so maybe i won't talk politics with them and i want to talk about that but if it's somebody related to or.

"So going back to the discussions that we were talking about in terms of potentially dealing rustling would you do with Russia's contract? Here's an interesting thought experiment for you guys. So we talked about it and clearly the rockets. Very few assets with which to move that Westbrook. Contract there are very few contracts that are as bad as that westbrook contract. One of the assets that Houston does have. And maybe the only way I can see them moving russ before that contract has a year left on it maybe to. It is potentially packaging him with James Harden. If indeed, Marais leaves no coat know new coaches hired or found to be a good fit for competing with the the small ball mentality. If they just feel like they're trapped I mean I don't think there's actually going to happen but. I think the most likely scenario is they hire somebody like Thailand or Jeff Van. Gundy. They run it back in place mall but not as aggressively small because nobody plays small like the Tony does they basically bring back the same roster with some small marginal changes to replace guys who leave on like expiring deals that's probably the realistic scenario. But what would you guys think if they had package like if they just decided to blow it up, recoup some assets, get off the rest contract which I guess they pretty much would have to do really realistically they are GonNa Blow Up. That a move, you can see them making like I. Don't think it's i. don't even think the idea of talking about Russ getting moved is bullshit like I. Don't think we're speaking trained existence or anything I think every team in the league would be thinking about it. Yeah. The rockets. That's interesting I hadn't thought about the possibility of him being packed with harden. That's what that'd be eighty million dollars in cap moving into players like I just don't like. A, you've seen how they work together now and I guess it does work to an extent, but you have to have the roster do it. So I think who out there I mean Austin Boston the salary that could go back. I mean one one thing that I thought of when Evans said that was I mean I floated in the chat while ago hard for Ben Simmons, based trade, and maybe throw in Tobias Harris to match salary but if I was Houston, I would just keep Russ probably just because if I'm trading hard I want to. NFL. Because if you're trading harden, you're blowing it.

"I think maybe we've used some of these young guys on teams differently because they don't have the same growth curve or trajectory as some of the guys who made the bubble because it was a very a much higher level play in in the bubble then I think we all expected and you're playing as playoff teams you're playing as the better teams. I really am a I. Don't want to say nervous but I do think it'll be intriguing to see if there's any kind of gap that's more significant or pronounce between the top twenty, two teams who made the. Bubble in the bottom eight because I do wonder genuinely about how that has an impact I mean I know training camp starting up soon, I believe the Pistons just started up today the cavs startups either today or tomorrow So they'll be getting in I think three weeks of work, but that's not even comparable to the entire ramp up that these guys that were in the bubble just had so I I don't know I a lot of questions asked there unless you guys have anything on that, we can get into kind of the rockets future a little bit. Ago. Just to add on to your point, you made I about working the margins and what the rockets have had to do in terms of getting rid of guys Gary Clark Anthony Mill on the rockets are excellent working the margins mores always done a great show of it, and it's clear with the guys they've had they've had on roster and also the guys they've had to let go. But it just shows the rockets. Especially, the bucks is well to a lesser extent, Danny Larousse it all the time good ownership is the biggest competitive advantage. In the NBA if you have a cheap owner, you're gonNA run your team like a cheap team and you're going to have to make cuts. You don't really have to make. So the bucks of promise that they're gonNA pay the luxury tax going forward believe it when I see it because they had a chance to do that with Brogden and they didn't do it now the buck fighting an uphill battle. So the rockets have done that to to some extent probably worse than the X.. Smaller smaller instances but more often. So it just shows how important it is to be working for a good owner and I think we'll get it into that as we discussed, the rockets feature to. I to bring it back to a point that Mark said about how like We're getting these this film on young players in this environment where maybe defense isn't quite there are some have advantages from working out with their trainers. During the hiatus, and that is interesting how you already take out people kind of react to young players in a very volatile way. I remember there was a poll halfway through the season before the shutdown where it was like, would you rather start a franchise with John Dr in Fox or shape gilders Alexander and like. Fox was dead last like the argument was about Shea Jommuang because those were the guys that were playing well at that moment kings were kind of. Stagnating after an exciting twenty eighteen, twenty, nineteen. So when you take that existing dynamic and you apply it to, okay, we're getting some really good footage of like say porter Jr. someone like that that. Maybe. The public consensus or perception doesn't matter on these players. It's ultimately you know what the decision makers. Decide. But. It's going to kind of be an imbalance if you know the likes of like Zach Levine or Karl Anthony..

"But if we if you if we do not look at the scoreboard during this series. We would think it's overall almost. The rockets are playing better basketball, the rockets of should be feeling better about themselves. And by the way, Draymond green said something very precious, by the way about the physicality nature of this series, and how they are being physical and how they haven't had a proper response yet. And they're going to have to wake up he even said we're getting slapped around. Okay. And so that's what's happening here. Having the set all that they almost pulled it out last night anyway because they still have this talent. But the answer this question is yes to walk. It should be feeling better about themselves fright. Could you throw your hat in the ring here on the idea that the warriors are still figuring themselves out? Well, I would say this about them. If you look at what's going on in the postseason, they've been vulnerable at home already lost two games, and that was to the clippers. So I think what they're trying to figure out is a way to stop James harden because Bob's point you go to game six last year. They did not have Chris Paul. They did not have Chris all in game seven now that everybody's healthy. And I also think that the rockets are winning a bit of the psychological battle after the game last night. Steve Kerr said it's middle linebackers against volleyball players basic trying to buy we're getting pushed around, and I think that audit and all the complaining that the rockets did might be helping them out at this point. This is not being cheeky in any way, the debt lineup knows each other. They played with each other for years now under stays that lineup lot. It's team. This rockets team is equipped to match that and they have something in PJ Tucker. That's a nightmare for this lineup right now. And he is killing them with those rebounds, especially that death lineup is fantastic. But they do have weaknesses there smallish, and they have to play physical. It's the danger of trying to turn it on. Come the playoffs. When you haven't realized what it takes to play at this level when the rest of the league has been slowly catching. Here's an. Regal inside the death lineup here. Bob, Ryan, it's not as deadly as it used to be true or false. That's not the issue. Maybe is a little bit less. But the fact is when you go to the Hampton five you have no bench. Now, they don't have a bench. At least the rockets are getting something out of somebody named Austin rivers, which we weren't counting on. That's another factor. Also in this matchup. They get killed on the glass when they go to to to death lineup or the handed five or whatever you wanna call it. So to sum it all does this year feel different to you is to last year if you'll difference you this year, it's an extension. We know how close to where last year it makes perfect sense that they're in a good position this year only Bob gets to answer that question because I stepped on his time before that is derived, we move books thirteen six one zero one the wave of inevitability that is Milwaukee and the puddle of unreliability that is Boston, which I believe is something Israel's tears wants imparted on this show as segment that takes about thirty seconds. But if you really time that usually about twenty or twenty five. Kyri slough. Let's hear from you know, for me the twenty two shots. I should've shot thirty really great shooter. So. Can you start by dressing?.

"That's that's what makes it fun. And again joke had a great game. Seven triple dumb like. That's what makes it exciting. We had game one of the most anticipated NBA playoff series in a least a year since they did it last year, the rockets and the warriors the read side all nights got locked in watched every second. And it was a weird game. It was it was close. It came down to the end. Let's just take a look at how finished here we have Steph being guard by the nanna switch not the worst defense. Having love got that stop not the work. Kevin ticket. And then we have this after steal the final possession down three James hard for foul. Chris Paul kind of looking for Phalle there. Chris Paul will end up getting teed thrown out. And. It was close. But it was just an odd game all around. What did you take away from game one? Why I remember watching this game? And the rockets got off to very slow start from three right? And you know, there was some, you know, some of you. So all of a sudden you start thinking. Wow, this start and in the last series like they've missed a lot of consecutive threes. Like that was more of just kind of a funny spot the the kind of talk about, but no I thought both of these teams are playing good basketball. Saw a lot of turnovers by the warriors felt like there was an opportunity of if Houston Houston could've hit some shots earlier. Right. And I think they would have been a much better spot because the warriors are team you want to have a ten twelve point cushion, right? If you're up by six if you're up by eight. Gone in twelve that's gone. That's gone really really quickly. And all of a sudden the pressures back on you. So that was the opportunity for the I felt in that first quarter for the warriors, especially with all those turnovers in that first half for the war for the Houston Rockets. The kinda give himself a buffer, but it never came. It. Just the rockets didn't hit the shots when the when a needed to off of those turnovers in the first half and never had an opportunity to build a big lead..
