"The favourite for Saturday's travers stakes is the Belmont stakes winner Tis the law, the owners of the law, a group of fairly regular guys from the Saratoga area they go by Saka. Toga stables are the same guys who owned funny side the winner of the two, thousand, three, Kentucky Derby and preakness they showed up to each triple crown race in a yellow school bus, not a limo. It was a scene to which many of us could relate but I'm going to give you a comparison of two other. Owners of horses running in Saturday's travers they are and Lori Hall who owned the Third Place Finisher in the Belmont Max Player and Orlando and Jonathan Noda who liked their travers entrant I line are the longest of longshots George Hall is the founder of a Hedge Fund, the Clinton Group that company's assets reached a high of five and a half billion dollars in two thousand, sixteen. Orlando Noda is a thirty one year old trainer who co all of his horses with his brother. Jonathan who's in the car business? George Hall and his wife Lori sold a six level. Manhattan penthouse in two thousand seventeen for somewhere around thirty eight million dollars. Orlando notice biggest return on investment so far has been the horse not loves a fight who not claimed for ten thousand dollars in May of two, thousand nineteen and whose win a month later represented his trainers I ever. T loves a fight won four races for his trainer and finished second last week in the John Morrissey at Saratoga. You. Get the idea Max player for George and Lori. Hall won the withers stakes back in February and finished third in the Belmont. STAKES IN JUNE FIRST LINE FOR ORLANDO. Noda just earned his first win in four tries and he's returning on only ten days rest to take on an imposing field. But if his trainers story is any harbinger, don't count first line out and we are pleased to welcome to win the game for the first time the trainer of First Line Orlando Noda what went into the decision to turn this horse around in just ten days. The horse came out of it good and I nominated him prior to even run especially. Like figure that especially wasn't GonNa go I was I was GONNA test my luck there and restaurant him because. The horse had shown me talent ever since I had him and I think got strike while the iron is hot right now and everything is just clicking on all cylinders. So I. Think we're just going to give it a go is not every day that we can have a three year old peak at the right time via because of this corona virus that maybe I might might just be able to pull off the upset and get my derby points that that I high horse up about the beginning. You would said to a couple of racing aficionados over the winter that you had a derby horse and first line what made you think that then Oh no the horses super talented it from the first time that we breathed him. We knew we had something special. I'm not the lightest of riders and horses just noting on track with me and I just can't picture it. Any other way because everything has played out to where it should as he broke his. Maiden here in Saratoga and I think the past two races, six furlongs, it was just the the too short for him for his long strident. He just went comfortable and those fractions buying the mollering Nathan not many horses hold up biting the whole time that they are at the top of the stretch hometown in first line and they've been at it. Right from the START I line on the outside pokes ahead and front hometown continues to battle down at the rail. Now, they're at the eighth bowl it is first line and hometown go to battle for a mile and a furlong here first line hud and front hometown not giving up they come for the finish and first line is first under the wire. Race I'm wondering if he's even cooled out yet from that race, I mean that was affirmed and Alydar Rier Dan Against Jaipur was neck and neck for a mile and an eighth I mean, how do you think that part of a racist going to affect him the ten days notwithstanding? Even fresh I'm not doing much with him and. Keep Afresh to the to the race. Then you gotta show up on the race checking in, and that's how he is all game once it gets onto the track. IS A. Very level-headed. Once once he gets into training just like train I'm just giving just. Keep them -freshing raider fire. For for the drivers.

Derek Carr is getting upset

"So the Raiders are starting preparations like everyone else in the NFL for the wonky 2020 regular season. Derek Carr is still around. That is a surprise. He was supposed to be gone. He is battling and trying to hold on by his fingernails to the starting job in Lost wages. Nevada, the newly minted Las Vegas Raiders. Who will have no fans their first year in Vegas like everyone else, right? So car was asked if he had ever considered opting out of the season many players have done it does. I think over 50 now that have said they're not going to participate in this season? A couple of medium sized names a couple of star defensive players who have decided not to play in the 2020 season. But what about Derek? Or rather benign question, considering that he was at a Raider news? Conference. And so it's a fact that he's at practice with the Raiders at workouts, meetings and things like that. It seems pretty obvious that he's planning on playing. But that question ignited a very passionate response. If you did not hear this And maybe you missed it. You're not up on these type of things. Fair enough. That's why we're here. So Derek Carr said unequivocally. I did not. Did not think about tapping out like some of these other guys have done, And then he went on a rant and attempted to passionately explained his reasoning. In fact, we have The audio tape in his Warner Wolf would say, Let's go to the audiotape years. Derek Carr, the Raiders quarterback, opining about what what his motivation is for this year. I have a lot to prove to myself.

"It's a thing in the media circles, but the one of the biggest situations for Derek that he's in a situation. Now, where he's got the weapons of the raiders have really invested at the wide receiver position they have Josh Jacobs, the rookie running back from last year offense of line is definitely better and so I think for people is that Hey Derek? You've been there and get this team has not been successful and in some people would argue and say, well, you haven't had the best people around him. I. Think for right now it is a situation where Derek to. Sort of what his radio color analyst was talking about today, which is Kinda make news like community. It's a put up or shut up kind situation the raiders wouldn't have signed. Marcus Mariota. The, backed up to car if they didn't believe that if things that go right with Derek Carr that Marcus Mariota may step in and they feel like they've got a quality starter if things aren't going the way that they want to their car. So this is a big year for dare because look we've got a new stadium. You got some Chinese new players. You Know Henry Rug, they drafted out of Alabama. Their cars out have a fantastic year similar to the one he had where he was up for MVP consideration before he broke his ankle and the raiders lost in that first round to the Houston Texas bit year for Derek Carr Who's going to have the offense the raiders, the chargers, or the rams make a bold prediction before I let you go. If you're asking me right now, I would definitely have to go with the the raiders I think that. Josh Jacobs coming back you know the running back receiver they added like in Rugs Renfro Tyrone Williams like a year ago remember this Jason Witten. Him Pass Receiver I think he's shores up the offense to line. He's like an extra tackled. They'll have in their twelve personal sets would dare and waller. I just like their offense and what they have coming back right now that is a situation for Derek Carr truly flourish I'm not so sure about tyrod Taylor in Austin guys with the chargers defensively they'll be great their offense. We'll see how that goes and then kind of the rams it's a wait and see approach their biggest thing is what the running back position and they're going to be doing that by committee with the loss of tight early to Atlanta. Barton friend of the program eight years NFL vet, we love him he's on our rams coverages. Well, you're the man brother. Go hang go hang out with those kids have a great weekend stay safe stay healthy. Yeah. Man It's time for a goldfish neck. So time for some goldfish. Good take care. There is Kirk Morrison. We got a few more minutes here. We can do a couple calls people been holding on patiently want to chime in on the Lakers discussion and we were talking about with Kirk, to as well right like this added layer of a challenge. Now, for the Lakers, because of Lebron's normal ramp up being skewed here because of this something that most people did not think of and Kirk had mentioned it because Kirk understands because he's a professional athlete or was a professional athlete for very long time let's go to the phones. Michael is in Palmdale, Michael What do you got? Yours. I just wanted to echo the seventy five old caller finally, somebody agrees with me and they call in. The La thing I the number you said, ninety five percent We we should. Probably you should probably get a poll for that to see. 'cause I really don't believe it every every Laker fan is a is a in the clipper fan that's secondary choice. I mean back back when they were wishing for the La series when they had Chris Paul, and them I mean, we were i. that's just me. I'm twenty nine years old. It's all always been a lakers fan out hard, and then the clipper fan was always our second choice that anything when solid. But I, I guess that's just me under seventy five year old caller I just wanted to Equa that finally somebody agreed with me I'm Michael Thank you for the call buddy. Stay healthy stay safe Laura, your response. Hal No. So now he's twenty nine Bro. I'm thirty two. So I'm not that much older than you and I grew up watching the Lakers. There was no secondary to the Lakers and if there was a wasn't, it wouldn't be the clippers play come on like I said, that's like rooting for the dodgers and angels at the same time or UCLA and USC it doesn't happen but then again he's from Palmdale make sense. Maybe. He's Paul George Guy. You know what? I mean. He loves Paul George prices in La Bryce. Are you Mrs Ana. Hello, I'm good yourself. I'm good I'm good taking it easy. Good. Look I just wanted to tell you I just wanted to give frank vall Volvo B minus for last night's Game Oh. Particularly because I felt that he just give Taylor Horton Tucker the keys. That makes sense I mean. Let's slow down a little bit. We may be giving you a D. minus on that take right now what are you talking about? If You're GONNA play Table Horton Tucker. And you gotta put him out the to not the one. And you're just GonNa have dion waiters bring up the ball every every possession. then. You're not really living Taylor Warren Tucker. The game the way he wants to. Eyebrows. Thanks for the call. Buddy I listened I get that people are very excited for Taylor. Norton Tucker. And I get that he is a guy that can handle a little bit but we need to slow down just a little bit take. On that. We'll take your calls. We're going to be back in ninety seconds with what you need to know and more of your phone calls. People are starting to potentially worry about this added layer that the Lakers are gonNA have to deal with, which is the Lebron ramp up has been kind of skewed here. We'll get into some of that people's thoughts on the game last night. Ryan Russillo will join us at eleven fifteen Ben Lines Eleven forty for the movie review as he does every week. How Coco Illustrator Ana Ramrez Gonzlez Extends Herself with Her Art

"I if I opened up one of your notebooks from Grade School and high school, how much doodling what I find in the margins You know not that much. I didn't use to draw growing up because I was a figure ice skater in ice skated competitively since I was six up until I was like fifteen or something. Then my mom was like when you take drying class I'm so happy that she did in so glad that they would even suggest art school for me in high school actually she kinda almost forced me to take drawing class or against my will almost but she was just tried out if you don't like it, you don't have to go back you know but please give it a try like I. Think you might like it. In. So she drove me to like my first drawing class in. But then I like looked it like after the first session as this is rules is the best like this is what I wanna do for. I didn't actually start drawing until I was maybe seventeen or sixteen, seventeen or something. When did you first decide to move to the states? So my mom has a cousin who lives. In Chicago who you know she was like, Hey, like can she go live with you? Here. So my aunt was in angel and she took me in for a year in lived in Chicago, and you know that exposed me to a lot like it was kind of a huge cultural clash for me because I grew up. You know kind of sheltered in you know in my small community in new everybody there and it was just for a year but it I think it really shaped. My view. On things in. My world in. So after that I went back to Mexico and then I found you know started doing research once I started taking drawing classes in my my sister's best friend from childhood who's also my friend his name alone. So he was studying at CAL arts at the time in La in. California. So I met up with alone. So that summer. And it was the summer before I graduated high school and he showed me his portfolio that he applied with in I just like I was like I have to do this in like. This college I was like I have to go to the school in an a very stubborn person in sort of obsessive sometimes when it comes to like things that are really WanNa to do and I applied that year but I didn't get in. So then I moved to France in when there for like two years. In. It really helped me to start building my portfolio for Callard's because in my mom in my dad's head, I was just going to stay in France in I was going to graduate there but I, was still like no have to go to cal arts 'cause that's my dream. My Dad was really worried when I applied to the school again because I think they also didn't really think that I would get when I re applied. Again, after two years of the first time I got rejected I did get in and I had such a good time and it was magical. So I mostly decided to move to the US because I just really wanted to go to the school in that was like the main reason in the drive for me to come here in because I loved animation and Film Industries here. But Oh, my family's still in Mexico is just me here. How did you land that first job after school? My first job. So it was actually during school because at Keller, it's A day per full day in its day in Wedge. A lot of people from the industry from the animation industry, go to the school look at our work. So there's like tables laid out in the main gallery in like students from first to fourth year plus like after you graduate, there's also space for them. We learned stressful. I knew so stressful it's Yeah. It's very like nerve wracking in like really exciting to because everyone's working towards that so. That year my mom was visiting 'cause she. She came up to visit me in and she was staying with me in I stayed up like I pulled an all nighter she stayed up with me the day before printing stuff out in laying out my portfolio decorating it. So we laid them out on these tables. In this was my third year and I went in the morning you lay them out at like a eight. Am you leave them there in the new leaf like you're not even present to show your work like you disappear, and then there's like this blackboard at the end of the hallway with you know the lists of every studio that's attending and you know like three hours later they write the names of the people they WanNa talk to. Based on like what they think about that work, I had never been called by Pixar or anything like I was not targeting Pixar at all because I'm like how like you know it just was not in my raider 'cause they were incredible. So as like whatever I just want an internship anywhere. Or A job. I went back to my house with my mom and we both kind of fell asleep for that time because we were so tired and then I got a call from a roommate who was at school and she was like, Oh, my God on a you have to get here right away like come here. Your name is under the picks list in I was like what no way I. Remember like jumping around with my mom. In we went to the school in like indeed, my name was on the list in the talk to Harley Jessup who production designed cocoa. And he was doing the interviews like himself site talked to him and he was like Oh I love your portfolio like it seems like you really love drying from like different cultures and you know I love how you're like units. So Colorful Blah Blah Blah in his guest, send us your portfolio and we'll get back to you and actually my mom took a photo of that list of the portfolio list. And she sent it to me every once in awhile and she's like remember We're like my name It's very sweet. Yeah. But then eventually they got back to me and they called and I was I happened to be touring Disney imagineering that day 'cause I was elected with a group of other students to go pitch stuff to imagine years, which was super cool and I was on that tour with my friends and then that day I found out they called me in there. Yeah. You would just want to let you know you got the internship end. I graduated college I didn't have a job I applied to like fifteen jobs or so and didn't get any of them until eventually I got one in I worked there for a little bit but then they weren't. Willing to sponsor me because I know it's not easy for everybody. So I left because I'm like. Well, what am I doing here? You know it's not for the money as much as like I also really need. To get sponsored so I can stay in the country. So I left and then I kept applying to jobs in the landed a job with Google doodles with Google in started freelancing for them and doing you know Google doodles rely Mexican Independence Day and then we were like in Having starting a conversation of potentially converting me to like full-time in stuff in has very excited about that.

"And you know. I just want to take a minute to say like. Thanks for going along. With this podcast ride with us during this quarantine. We're glad you're here. I, don't know just thinking about that like sometimes. I marvel at the fact that there are people hearing this I know. I talked about this like once every three episodes where I'm like we have listeners, but it's so cool and I. The spencers ups and downs and I feel grateful that there are people. Going along for the ride with us, totally, it's nice to know you're all out. Yeah, yeah, it really is a really. It really is like I I imagine. If we did not make this podcast, I would feel much more alone and. Isolated and so a really appreciate I agree. How's it going over there? Cat. Never called you unless. It's going okay. I I realized I'm. Getting into this mode I, think especially now that I'm so focused on working on my book that. Like, I'll be like. Oh, it's the late afternoon. I have not like I have not even been outside today. So today I was like okay I must go on a walk. Get forced myself to go on a walk. Just to? Be Able to be outside and those really nice out today. But you have the hours just like slip away. Time feel so meaningless it really. Really does. Are Are you still like motivated to put on regular clothes every day. So the answer to that is no, however I did. Put on regular clothes yesterday, which is like. A day when we recorded a lot of podcast stuff, even though we weren't GonNa, see each other. I love your clothes, and I even splits on some purview. Actually Oh, wait I'm sorry who is I, know I meant to tell you? I forgot to tell you I'm telling you now. A! Recording interview and podcast away, and you were like dressed incented. The whole was I was I was wearing. Wearing linen. In like Biz cash, but. I was I was included on your like. Your slim fit Khakis and like just a sensible. Tory burch flats. No, I did not a Ha-. But I was not in leggings. Or you know pajamas as I am right now I'm in my pajamas. Makings. So the answer to your question is not. Usually, Yeah I've been I've been thinking about that lately. Because I feel like busy Phillips went on like a big like was a big advocate. Look, I follow along with busy Phillips as life three actively Phillips soon to be podcast. I'm so excited I think with. One of our past amazing? Yes, I think that's GonNa. Be a great. And one of her raiders. tearoom concern yeah. I'm excited for that podcast. Maybe busy can talk more about this because she was like a big advocate of. Getting dressed in quote unquote real close. Hate I to advocate for getting dressed in real close every day. Do I do it now. But I think it's a good idea. I. Mean Look Yep. We don't practice what we preach here. I, you know I will say I did acquire. Some like come Fi. Non. Athlete. Clothes like the linen overalls I have a pair of. Soft cotton, drawstring pants from blue and gray that I wear quite often. I wear them. Those I've read them today I wore them today. Actually so actually I'm kind of walking back my statement I. I have I have like pandemic close. That are just like cosy comfy clothes, but they're not leggings. and. I will also say I, stopped wearing under wire bras I only wear i. have like Chew Brawl. Let's that I rotate. Okay, so I think this brings us to kind of a new genre. which is your pandemic Wardrobe like? Because, my pandemic wardrobe. Is when it's not like likings and like pajamas and like sweat type outings. It is these short universal thread shorts. I bought at target last year. Some sort of like Tankeea toppy thing I, guess you could also just call that a tank top and. Taking top. Kreis. But you know like sometimes. It's a loose shirt. Huey: The Workhorse of Vietnam Exhibit

"Thought we'd We'd make you switch seats and Hanson and roles in everything Chris and talk about this new. One of one of the new exhibits that's gone into the museum, but a new aircraft for us. It is I'm really excited. It's something that as a rudder head. I've kind of been wanting to see the museum acquire for the last several years, but we were able to. Get A U H One Huey helicopter Totally, excited to see that come in and I I know we're going to get into a lot of the the Riviera of but It was exciting to see it. get trailer it on into us. Well, that's cool, and that of course happened in the midst of all the complications around around covert and those other restrictions, so we'll talk about that in a bit, too, but interesting to me that just with the passage of time with our museum This is something that we have an eagle hangar has traditionally been the venue, or we talk about military history, and we have our warbirds and other artifacts and things. That's been largely focused on World War Two since the advent of the museum, but we've seen F eighty six, an megan there periodically touching into Korea. Thomas More Scout, that sort of his edge, and there's going to cover World War One but this is really our first four into Vietnam, isn't it? Is it is? This is the first aircraft that we have from the Vietnam era Interestingly enough if you go back several years sort of on the gate guard side of things. We actually had a couple sky, raiders, and those are actually on different military bases. Now they were on loan to us but this is the first true aircraft donation to artifact that that we have in in the museum. Proper here and It's really exciting to see that come in because. You know when you if you look back. When Eagle. Hangar was built it was you know it was opened in the nineties, You know. It's about the fiftieth anniversary of world. War Two turn. Now you know were We're focusing never GONNA lose that focus of the World War Two generation that always going to be something special but we are broadening the horizons a bit to make sure we're. Live of experience excellent. Yeah, absolutely excellent, so then I suppose the first obvious question here is. Where did the idea for the Huey Exhibit? Come from was something that you know we've been looking at for a while. And the right opportunity came up or was this sort of a newer like we really need to. Branch out a little bit and feature this part of history as well It's something that that personally I've been pushing for a couple years. I joined the museum team that I think we need to get get a healy and and there are several reasons why that aircraft Early well. We have a Our Museum director is Huey pilot, so it wasn't hard to. Fill The Vault

"About two years ago, I read a book called the actors life by actress Jenna Fischer for the six of you who don't know. She's most known for playing the character Pam on the office. But her book is all about what it's really like to become an actor in Hollywood. One of the things that she mentions in the book is about the importance of filling the vault. Here's a quote from her book. She writes every project you finish has value whether it's the one woman show. You wrote the Web series with only twenty four of us. The pilot wrote with your friend. All are important and will pay off somehow. Putting things in the vault is important. I have a friend who's been writing a hilarious, and since series of children's books for the past two years. She's a struggling actress. Who said to me one day I. Don't know why I. Keep doing these books. No one's going to publish them at the very least they keep me saying I love them. And I told her one day. You're going to break out in a big way I just know it and your new fancy agent is going to ask you what ideas you have, and you will go into your vault. pull out the series of children's books and say that you have a fully developed idea for an animated series, and it will happen because that's how this stuff works. When you become a busy working actor, you won't have time to fill the vault, so fill it now. I love that image that Jenner Paints for makers who may be feeling discouraged that their work isn't being shared with the masses yet or haven't hasn't been shared at all. And I love how she points out the importance of doing the hard good work and filling the vault now so that later you'll have worked to pull from after you get super-busy, but I wanna take the liberty to extend this concept of filling the volt, even further because the truth is. We need to be a practice of filling the vault even after week. Week published land the job seal the deal or quote unquote make it if we don't have a regular practice of filling the vault, even small ways will get bored burnout. Give up or lose our creative spark, and I'm just going to adhere to filling. The volt is really for all of us whether or not, we ever realize our dream or hit that big goal or make that big deal whatever the case may be filling. The vault is part of being human. It's part of the creative process, and it is so deeply important. Taking my inspiration from Jennifer, fisher? Here are three ways to fill the volt, no matter where you are in your own vocational journey so that you keep doing your good work forever. Number One. Keep a quote journal. I'm a reader and I'm a firm believer that my very best ideas are not exactly new, but tend to stand on the shoulders of the best ideas. Someone else had I'm admitting it now there you go. You heard it here. First. I've made peace with this and I realized part of the way I fill the volt is to pay attention to and write down quotes that are meaningful to me so that I can let the thoughts and ideas from other creators sing in harmony with my own experience and hopefully one day that will become a new song. This is a lovely way of honoring the work of other writers and letting their work inspire new work in me, not as a way to copy them, but as a way to learn from them not to get too Meta, but the title of this episode fill the vault. Those aren't even my words as I've already mentioned. Those are Jenna Fischer's words, and I got them from a paragraph in her book and that Paragraph in her book inspired an entire episode of my podcast. See how that works. A second way to fill the vault create right and store every idea. This one is most close to the intention. I think Jenna had in her book when she wrote about filling the vault. Have a way to categorize. Your ideas doesn't have to be fancy has to work for you. This is for you if you are a high school student with dreams of going to film school, or if you're retired and wondering what might be next, my dad wrote his first book at Age Sixty six, and after retiring, he now co runs, Hope Raiders fulltime with me Brian, Dixon. He's using skills that he filled the vault with for decades now he's using them and hope writers, but he never knew if they would be useful. One day spoiler alert. They are useful and his life is proof. Finally a third and perhaps most overlooked way of filling the volt. Rest on purpose. There's a woman named Tricia who I've been learning a lot from lately. She sees rest as a healing tool for empowerment. She's the founder of the net ministry, which you can find on Instagram at the net ministry, and her work is to examine the liberating power of naps. Yes, like I'M GONNA. Take an APP like a toddler. While she believes rest is a form of resistance and in her words, a key component for justice. In her work, she speaks specifically to black women who are actually burdened and exhausted by the state of the world today. One Way to fill the volt is to rest on purpose. Imagine the lasting healthy change that could come from well rested people. And that is essentially where you'll find me today. Every year in July I tried to take some intentional time away. You won't see that reflected in these episodes because I've worked ahead so that they can drop on time last year. I took a month long sabbatical this year. It's only two weeks, but these two weeks are vital for the health of my soul, my family and also the work I do here. With every book I've written with every new idea I've had. That has grown into something lasting. I can point back to a specific and intentional time away from where that new idea was born or took more meaningful shape.

He Could Go All.. the Way!

"Hello and welcome to misinformation Trivia podcast for ladies, Jesse Love Goo Trivia and stick annoying teams as we are your hosts I'm Lauren and I'm Julia Hey Joel High Lord. We're we're still in pandemic mode while we're recording this. Yup We're recording a bunch ahead of time, so you know who knows where we are when this comes out, but. Yeah so in recent weeks in in our current time line where we are right now. It seems that the only like sports thing that has happened in the last I. Don't know four to six months. NFL Draft Oh. People were so excited for the draft. It was finally sports thing is. That is live that we can watch. That means something, and it was just so much like it was basically like zoom screens, and they would show like this. Is this draft persons at their house in this draft person at their house and you know. Maybe they got the call, and then they stood up and cheered, and they were on the camera, and that was like people were so excited, just three. Sports. Just want the, and it's not even playing sports show Yeah Rama's of eventually. Yes, going to be able to play sports. Yes, and I talked with our friend Tara Shout Tara. The other day and she was like I'm so excited I'm so excited and looking forward to tonight. And I was like why she said because the bills are gonNA. Release the schedule for the fall. I was like Oh my God so. Late. So I'm trying to do my best to help. Bring some more sports related content to fill that D- to fill Azam because clearly there. Actually I was inspired from a couple of weeks ago and we talked with Father Brad. And he was talking about the new. Orleans Saints, an this. This one play at our liens superdome that really re revived the city Yup and it really made me think and so today we're doing. He could go all the way. This episode is on famous plays in football history I love this. This is great sell. The things going to be talking about they do come up. Trivia they are frequent references, I know that there's a lot of people out there that don't like sports, and then you go great a sports ball question by up like guys. It's fine. It's fine to like pop culture. Yeah, I like sports. It's fine to be a nerd. Whatever like whatever Ya is not a high Falutin. Thing the way that some o pretend that it is and we don't pretend that it's. You know. Oh, my Gosh! No, it's not sit. Nothing is sacred in trivial so anyway. Little Tangent, no, it's totally and you know what not for nothing I'm not somebody who watches sports on a regular basis, but I can appreciate it because you know what sports is just storytelling. It's another version of storytelling. It's a war. It's a battle. It's a battle of wits. It's a battle of strategies. It can be really engaging in. into thread to have in common with people to say like it's uniting about Buffalo. Bills Fan. You're all high liven rock down the street. Same thing like if I'm Pittsburgh and I. Somebody runs through a stop sign and I go to yell at them, but I see that they're stealing. I much less likely to flip out so. Wow, that's something I learned about you actually. Good I'll. Sure to keep that. It's something we all have in common common thread. ETC, so the thing is when you talk about. They come up a trivia. They are commonly referenced There are some of these things have had like big impacts on the sports, world and broadcasting, and that kind of thing, so oh, yeah. We're GONNA stay with the NFL. And I'M GONNA. Go in chronological order so the first one I'm talking about is called the Heidi game. This is November seventeenth, nineteen, sixty eight, and it was the New York jets versus the Oakland Raiders so. Kind of starts out your run of the mill Sunday. Football game between two rival teams, the jets and the raiders it ends up being notable because of its very exciting finish. Oakland ended up scoring two touchdowns in the final minute of the game to win the game, but the game got its name for a decision made by the Games television broadcaster NBC to break away from its coverage of the game, the East Coast to instead broadcast the television debut of the film Heidi causing many years to miss the raiders comeback

Deshaun Watson endorses Houston Texans' potential Antonio Brown pursuit, even if the franchise hasn't shown interest

"Brown now, so there was some videos of him working out with Russell Wilson earlier this offseason. We've seen Antonio Brown working out with Lamar Jackson. Now to the Texans, maybe have some interest. We know their quarterback DeShaun Watson looks interested. Shawn Watson responded to a tweet from former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson. And what Shad Johnson tweeted a B to the Texans would like a prayer. Emoji link, I guess praying it happens. And this John Watson's tweet was basically a Mame of you know, Drake looking like, Really, I'm intrigued. I got intrigued type of look. Here's the reality. But the Texan sign Antonio Brown, then shame on Bill O'Brien. You cannot justify signing a bee in the same off season that you shipped away DeAndre Hopkins for nothing for David Johnson's contract in a second round pick, You cannot trade away the game's best wide receiver and then bring in a guy like Antonio Brown. Who is a locker room cancer. You can't do it. You can't justify it. Let's ignore the off the field stuff with a B and the suspension that's likely coming to the guy. Let's just talk about what he did the last year and 1/2. From alienating himself in Pittsburgh and missing a winner Go home Week 17 game. You then going to the Raiders and hurting himself by freezing his foot off. So then having an issue with the NFL helmet rule. To getting into with Mike. May I threatening to punch the guy? You secretly recording Jon Gruden. And then releasing a video after the Raiders finally released him and maybe be like I'm free. I'm free as it playing for the Raiders, making $15 million was, you know being kept in, you know. Unlivable conditions that Antonio Brown was in such a terrible life situation. He's finally free. That's what you get on the field, or, I guess technically off the field with the Raiders last year. We all know about the alleged crimes, and this guy has committed the lawsuit she's dealing with, so he's facing a suspension and you're the Texans and you're going to sign Antonio Brown Anthea traded away, arguably the game's best wide receiver. Who has never been and off the field malcontent who has always done the right thing in the Houston community, You can't sell Texans fans on Antonio Brown. If you traded away, DeAndre Hopkins, you just can't do it. Why would you trade away Hopkins to take a chance on Abie, who's facing a suspension? And we all know at some point Something's going to go wrong because it always goes wrong. For Antonio Brown. I mean, you cannot At any under any circumstance signed this guy. When everything we've heard from Bill O'Brien is he wants character guys, Bill O'Brien's cliche lines in every press conference. I've been out with him smart, dependable, reliable, tough football players. That's what we want. Antonio Brown is the opposite of every trade Bill O'Brien says he wants to be the biggest hypocrite. GM Bill O'Brien signs Antonio Brown. You can't do it. You just can't I don't care. Baby wants to play for nothing that sends the wrong message to the entire locker room. You traded DeAndre Hopkins. You gotta live with that. You deal with brains and cooks. You have will fuller Let's go figure it out. Yeah. Kenny Stills, Kiki cuties motivated to come back and play well in his third season. You made your bed now you gotta lie in it. Bring in Antonio Brown when there's going to be a condensed training camp. You think this guy's gonna follow social distancing guidelines? No shot Antonio Brown. We had every strip club in Houston by week three. It's called for what it is. He's the last guy the Texans need right now. That's the type of signing that alienated the entire locker room.

"Last night pulled a little page from my playbook last night, Polly, and they did an in Memoriam segment and in trying to honor former Raiders quarterback Willie Brown. Actually put up the the image of very much alive. Former San Francisco more there, Willie Burger God, that's the worst thing to do. It's one thing to say on the radio like, but it's nothing like do it on TV in front of a national audience and then throw an image up there on the screen to it's like, Damn, but of course, led to a great text in the early morning show. That said, uh, that they go open casket for Willie Brown. That's the next question, obviously right with us side by side. Don't He ain't for sure. Alright, all

Decorating In The Era Of Zoom

"I know that sounds really weird, but you know we're in this time and place right now. Where a lot of us are communicating with other people whether it's friends, family co workers through these video conference calls whether it's you know zoom or facetime or whatever technology you choose to follow. We love to sell three of those, but I think these sudden. Sudden prominence of these technologies in our lives right now has put new focus on what our homes look like in the background like how we present ourselves and our houses by what is on the screen behind us when we do, the zoom calls totally I was on his own call for work. The other day and I like had to find a place on my bed. That didn't look like I was on abandoned. Like I'm doing this. I'm going to bed but I'm going to make it. Look like there's just like an artful mirror behind me and I could be anywhere I could be like in the foyer. Still have a foyer I want to get into that in a second because I think there are actually two parts to this phenomenon, one is the like how you actually change your own home, but the other one is also like the voyeuristic element of getting to see other people's homes in this way because we're not just talking. Talking about like your boss or your co worker, or your grandma or whomever, you're calling, but also like TV now we're used to now seeing newscasters and sports, figures and celebrities, and all these people coming to our screens from their homes with their own offices and kitchens and bedrooms in the background, and it's like this kind of weird way to see inside someone's personal life that we weren't privy to before I I love watching some good news. You guys remember. We dug that with John Kuczynski is it. Christmas gear croissants. Kaczynski, Kristen Ski I just liked seeing his bookshelves and I like seeing like his kids made the sign like there's this homey nece, and this like almost depth like i. feel like I, know him better because I've seen a room in his house and I've seen how his kids draw I know. That's false death, but it feels like it's almost seems like a weird equalizer in a way like I know. A lot of these people have homes that are much grander and fancier than our everyday homes, but still to see this person whom you're used to seeing under studio, lighting and with makeup and fancy cameras suddenly. Just in their basement yeah, no, there was some celebrity I forget who it was now, but they were in front of big billiton's, and like four people deemed me and said like they need your help with the built in I. Wish I could remember who it was, but I was like that's so funny that you're looking at the celebrities instead of their face, but then I'm also like I m too, and I have an idea I heard a whole podcast where they were talking about during the NFL draft, which was held virtually this year. We didn't watch it. We're not NFL draft. Be pulled our sports as power-washing. To podcast about the NFL draft, but they were saying how people were getting distracted, and more people actually tuned into the draft this year, and they think partially because of the voyeur element of getting to see in the players and owners homes like that, and so became almost a more watchable event than it typically is something intimate about it right even if it's like they've selected this room, and it has nothing personal in the background and decorated. Maybe it's like in their guest house like we don't know the full story, but there is something about being like. Wow, that's like in their private space and we're seeing it and there's actually a. A whole twitter account about this. You mentioned the thing about wanting to restyle bookcases. Someone sent me a link to an article about room raider. I don't think that's the actual twitter. Handle but I'll link the twitter account in the show young dot com slash podcast, but is this account that basically all they do is post screen shots of people who are on television you know through zoom or some other teleconferencing and the twitter account rates their background, snarky or funny than snarky like it's not really that hard hitting. Although they do call out specific things, they'll say love. Angle bookcases Nice at a plant I would fully agree that everyone could. Could add another plant two and three. I also even found an article through Verandah, where they consulted with an interior designer about how people can make their homes look better in the background and it lines up with a lot of things that actually room raiders talking about I. Don't know who runs the room rate account, and if they have an interior design background. I don't think they do. I think they're more comedic well. I would say these are my personal tips because I have had a lot of work calls lately where I'm on. You know a great, and it's only four of us I know my rectangles pretty big. You know when? When I'm on a call with like thirty people for work I don't really care about the background that much, but when I'm on like just a few people, I'm like Oh. They're gonna see everything, so my tips are like to face a window, so there's light on my face as opposed to like being under a candlelight and looking like a goon. Yes, and this is actually something that we have struggled with because I think you might assume we have plenty of Nice style backgrounds to choose from when Nigel. No, especially in our last house, because when we laid out our office and everything, we didn't have this perspective on a layout like. Like what will the background look like on a call like this? That was not in the forefront of our brain, like it is now, and we used to like to make a lot of our calls using my desktop computer, because it has the big screen, but I sat with two windows behind me, so we were basically silhouettes on every call always which I didn't mind guys because you don't even have to make about when you're. You're like anonymous light, but my other tip. I was GONNA. Say some tips so number one face. A window is nice because you get that natural light on your face number to try not to look like. Like. You're into weird or intimate of a spot. Why WanNa look like I was in my bed. I also don't like to look like ooh. That could be a bathroom. I'm not in a bathroom, but when I look at the background, my question, I asked myself as like. We'll someone think this is a bathroom, and if the answer is yes, I move, and then my third tip is just around for something weird in the background. Because often something weird becomes normal to your eyeballs. An example would here. We have packing blankets still on a few windows that we're waiting for blinds for those look normal to me because I've seen them for. For six weeks now, but to someone else they look like. Why do you have like gray shaggy felt hanging from one side of the window off of a nail, like looks like the pelt of a very sad creature, so look around and say like what are my eyeballs used to? That seems normal to me, but isn't really normal. Another example would be like if you always hanging your bra over the chair. Don't do the zoom call in front of the chairs. Everyone can see your bra in the background like think about what's behind you and then shift the camera a little bit to make it look. I don't know

A Guide To Relationships on Lockdown

"So. You know how we've spent a lot of time these past few months. Talking about everything, the covid nineteen has changed while. There's one big thing that we haven't covered yet. It's sensitive. It's intimate. It's not easy to talk about even when there is no pandemic, it's just messy. It's marriage. And living together and partnership for life with kids or without. If you're married or partnered, you haven't been alone throughout all this and you're lucky, but you've also likely spent the last few months navigating an entirely different landscape, adjusting to a new daily life, and probably fighting at least sometimes. Today, we'll talk about the unique stresses that these and I'm sorry here. Unprecedented Times of placed on couples who pledged to spend their lives together. Just maybe not this close together for this long. We'll talk about how to fight and how to divide household labor how to survive till death do us part, and beyond and I will try not to get myself in trouble at home by saying something dumb. Can I do? We will find at. Jordan he's Rawlings and this is the big story. Stephen Marsh is a writer and a podcast and his new show is called and I'm GonNa say it, and we'll see if the producers me. How not about your marriage too bad? Hi Stephen. How're you doing? I'm doing well. Thank you, I'm going to start because we're GONNA talk about relationships today I'm just going to start by asking you. How has Being together with two kids, homeschooling and working twenty four seven impacted your partnership. You know to be honest, a kind of love it I. Mean Like I'm a freelance writer, so I'm used to being at home alone and so for me. It's sort of like the kids are home from school. There's like a lot of activity in the house and I'm less lonely. That's really that's really the big. The big change I think it's a little harder for my wife to be stuck with me the. The whole time, and certainly it's you know certainly to be my fourteen year old son in be stuck with your parents for the indefinite future without being able to go to camp or anything like that is a bit of a nightmare. I mean you know. I think were were kind of lucky. Because like whenever wherever covid goes like divorce, rates spike like in Wuhan the bureaucracies just totally overwhelmed with divorce. applications the sames happening in Italy It's a classic relationship accelerator so single. Single people who were you know at home? Confronting Death by themselves unable to touch anyone are like desperate to get married and people who are married or like I need to get the hell out of here. You know it kind of it kind of works both ways on people. Do you remember at the beginning of this? When people were saying? Oh, there's GonNa be a covert baby-boom. Then everybody with kids said well. If there is, it's going to be all only children, Yeah I. I mean it's like the hormonal effective covert I. Don't think has really been written about, but like I I mean I knew there would not be covid baby boom. There were there were stories. I mean. You've heard stories. The early days of people who'd been on three dates shacking up that cannot work out well, so tell me about this podcast which recorded pre pandemic, but is being released now in the middle of one. What has cova done to the subjects you discuss on the podcast? It seems like it must have just put more pressure on all of them. Well, yeah, I mean. It's very interesting because you know not to be too glib about it, but the time like the timing of the release could not be better because you know the questions that we deal with in this show like. You know the physiological basis of fighting like. How do you fight better like suddenly? This becomes very very important to people who are jammed together all the time. How do you deal with money together? This is also about going to become very very important for a huge number of marriages how to deal with death how to think through divorce. Should, you schedule sex? How do you deal with housework? And suddenly all of these questions which we were dealing with which matter you know in the best of times suddenly, they've all come very much to the fore the it's the old questions I don't think the questions have really changed. Just their urgency has and I'm going to get you to. Well give me some of the advice you get to in the podcast and the listeners to because I'm sure we could all use it right now, but I. You mentioned at the very beginning that you think it's been great for you to be at home in also have company my honest question to you is Would your wife? Would Sarah say the same thing? No, I don't think so I think she you know she. She's a more social person. It's not really a marriage question. She likes being in an. An office she likes being with other people. She likes that space quite a bit and be denied it I. Think is actually pretty pretty rough. You know also there's the question of we. We have to educate our children and do our jobs at the same time, which is hugely stressful and really frankly not possible. Yeah. I think for me a freelance writer. Where like you? You find me in my office where I am every where I've been every day for fifteen years like tied to this table in the tower of song. It's not. It's not really that different for me, but for her. It's huge. What have you guys thought about during this pandemic I know you've fought i. you know what I think. I can't even remember the subject I. Mean I know that sounds like a capo, but I definitely have fought, but you know the subjects are really irrelevant. Because what were you know when when we did the fighting episode? One thing I learned was that you know fighting is now. Now is not really about issues. It's not about the problems in your marriage, and certainly never helps to solve those problems It's really a physiological response to Stimuli. It's about when you're when you're intimate with someone. Your brain naturally looks for threat and that and naturally response to threat and when you do that, you're you know the tends to build on itself very very quickly, and you know the conditions of covid really are the conditions that make us all. Very intimate suddenly and. Without escape, and so it's natural that you're going to have more fights is just. It's just part of your body. It's just basically a physical reaction, so yeah, we've had some raiders, but I don't think they've like. The subject matter is kind of irrelevant. So how do you fight better the topic of a whole episode? Yeah I mean it's complicated like I. Don't want to reduce it to a one point because you know like. We talked to Stanton. WHO's very famous neurobiologist and we talked to cloudy Hasso. Who'd who does like lifetime studies, couples, and how they fight, and how it affects their bodily reactions to? Overtime and you know they have. They have a lot of collective insights into it, but I mean I. Think the real the point the takeaway for me anyway like fighting is not an intellectual process. You're not going to solve any issue that you have through fighting. You're not even going to address. It and so the really when you get into a fight, which is natural. It's it's inevitable. There's no escape from that the. The health even to fight. The point is to get jet to safety as quickly as possible. What does that mean get to? Safety means to make your partner feel like their loved rather than threatened, and you know the simple ways to do that are just to look each other in the is for about thirty seconds, or just to leave and run and do a silly dance, or do something physical to get out the energy. And just returned to a where you feel like you like your your interest or mutual again. just get to that place as quickly as possible because you know, the other way just expands forever. Don't you not fix the shoes by doing that though? But you never fix an issue by fight. I mean there's no you will not find anyone like. That was the point. That's what I learned like. You Talk to these people and you're in there and they're like well. Don't you need to have fights in order to solve problems in lake? Well, no fight has ever solved a problem and I I thought about it. In my own case I've been married for nearly twenty years and I was like. Yeah, you're right. I mean like the way you solve a problem by sitting down calmly with a glass of wine and talking things through and being frank and honest about it, and we're and we're talking to a therapist or D- But. That's not fighting. Like. That's not that's not that's not. The fighting is just response to Stimuli. What about just living together in general, which is another topic of one of the episodes first of all I guess. What did you discover that either? You've been just doing wrong? The whole time or wish you'd known before you lived with your partner. Well I mean one thing I learned I sort of. Of knew already had written about before in the unmade bed is that there are no solutions to the problems of living together like the there, there is no magic bullet you think think when you're when you're a kid. When I was a kid, I thought Oh will drop contracts, and it'll make it all simple, and then we'll. We're reasonable people. We both believe in equality. We both want. Want to do the same things, and and and we and we don't want. We don't WanNA fight about dumb stuff like who's cleaning the toilet and stuff like that, so we'll make up a list, but that's not actually how it works at all. It's much more emotionally driven, and it's much more about the quest for recognition, and the truth is those matters just like never really get solved. Solved so then you then you come to the place of Lake Well. How do you? How do you deal with that irresolution I? Mean that is the one thing that I really learned from doing this show is that marriage is quite hard You know look. I wasn't an idiot I. knew people were in pain in their relationships, but I. Guess I kind of thought that they were. Met screwing things up, or they had their own problems or something like that, it's like no actually doing this is actually quite difficult, and it requires a lot of endurance, and it requires a lot of skill and tenderness, and it also requires a lot of luck, and so that's I. You know that was the that was kind of the takeaway for me like you know. This is actually a lot harder than you think. Yeah. You realize now that we're two men now talking about housework, right? You don't know how. Yeah, no, and it's really. I'M GONNA. Get in trouble for this, and so are you yeah? and. Also maybe we should be doing it like. Let's also take that into account, but anyway go on one of the reasons why I wanted to talk to you and to talk about this is because I think it often falls on. the woman in a marriage to to try to fix the marriage, and to try to have those emotional discussions and try to bring those topics up so I think like. Yes obviously There are probably things that we're going to get wrong and screw up by having this conversation. It shouldn't be left to wives to make the husband go to counseling and to initiate these conversations, and you know to try to save the marriage, so so that's what I'd say that but I. Wanted to ask you about recognition because I find when there are inequalities, it is the recognition that makes the difference between a fight and no fight. It's not necessarily the active. Okay. Well, you take the garbage out five days a week and I'll take the. I'll do the dishes five days a week and etc. It's the lake. I see you taken garbage out. That's awesome. Well. That's the getting to safety. Part of fighting. Getting to safety is like that feeling like I'm seen in you, know me and were together right, and so you always want to get to that as quickly as possible, but you know I mean I'm on the record like my about housework like my feeling about it is that? Every like everyone should do a lot less of it, and that the the long term trend with housework is not men doing more where it gets women. Doing less has been that. That's true everywhere in Western Europe North America. It's called disinvestment in some well known sociological category you know. My mother was a fulltime physician who also vacuumed the the drapes of our house lake. That's not it quickly realized. That's no longer possible, and but that whole debate around what housework is it so fascinating but it's also almost impossible to have rationally like it's it it it becomes. It becomes super emotional and. Layered with with norms so quickly, you know it's it's almost impossible to have those conversations. In general, although I definitely agree with you, that men do not do their fair share of trying to make marriage is work or Thinking through their marriages right, I mean like I, I think there's this this thing with men were they don't WanNa even consciously try and conceive of these questions they want to just push them aside and get on with things and I think that's really bad and dangerous and stupid and just stupid like there's there's ways to think through this stuff that are very can really improve your life and can improve your marriage, and they're not hippie nonsense, right and the and they're not you know snake oil salesmen stuff they're. They're quite practical. I WanNa, talk to you, but a couple of. Of the other episodes that we can may be covering somewhat rapid fire succession associated. You schedule Sex. What what are the experts say? Yes, I mean you know in this show we take all these questions and we we try get multiple perspectives on them, and you know definitely different perspectives and see how we feel about them. We literally could not find a single expert who said don't schedule sex. They all say schedule sex because you know the simple truth is. If you don't, you won't have it and you know the other thing is if you get to once a week. that is the equivalent in happiness terms of going from making twenty five thousand dollars a year to making seventy five thousand dollars a year so i. don't know about you, but when I went from that from twenty five to seventy five K that was like the most happiness that was the greatest increase of happiness that I could have so yeah. You do absolutely that one you know most. Most of these things, there's no AB testing for most the stuff, so you know most of the things we don't have as definitive answers that to these questions, but that one is a pretty straight. Yes, how about deciding who to marry? That's I haven't listened to that episode yet, but really fascinating. We talked to a a matchmaker traditional matchmaker who charges ten thousand dollars for a? A relationship and we also talked to a WHO works at NASA Jet Propulsion Lab. Who as a sideline has developed as algorithm for determining when you should settle essentially and so like we look at the math of you know. How do you pick basically and not nothing works I? Mean that's the that's the sad answer, but like when you get to when you get to like trust, trust your. Your gut doesn't make any sense, but also trust. The numbers doesn't make any sense I. Mean I think that's kind of a lesson in itself. When you're picking this, you're doing it with. It's very partial information game. It's an asymmetrical information game and you have to know that when you get married. You're taking a big risk. What about should we just get divorced? How do you make that call? Yet, there's a whole group again. See. This is the kind of thing that I think that there. There's a kind of practical. There's practical solutions to this like there's a whole group of scholars divorce ideation out there from various different political beliefs and very leg. They study how people get divorced, and I mean about forty percent of people in divorce proceedings. Regret it in court really. You know the lesson here is divorce is a wonderful thing. It's kind of the key. People underrate the power of divorce like divorce is key to modern life as In freedom of the press its that important because it means that we're not locked in these terrible relationships like there is a way out and super important for human liberty, but at the same time you won't understand that if you're thinking about divorce. Especially coming out a covert I, think take it slowly like to take take your time to do it because people get divorced for his bad reasons as they get married rate for emotional reasons that are really temporary, and they don't really think through and yeah like divorce slowly. The last one I want to ask you about is pretty profound marriage death especially now when you know probably number of long term, marriages have lost a partner. How does marriage survived death? In what is that look like you know we talked to? That was a very powerful episode. You know it was. It was a sign of its success that no one who dealt with it could actually get through the whole thing without stopping and crying like our executive producer couldn't edit it like had to keep stopping. The sound designer couldn't really get through it. He kept crying. I. Mean it's your worst nightmare. Anybody who's married well I don't know I think they're i. think are much worse things that can happen in a marriage actually certainly after doing this show, but I think the You know that we talked to a woman who texts her dead husband like three years after the thing that's so interesting is that the relationship doesn't really end. We talked to all these people for whom including my mother for whom they're dead. Spouse, you know. The fact of his death was just kind of one more fact in the relationship, and the relationship went right on. It's just without one person, and so you know what this show is really about the difficulties of marriage, which can be grueling like the housework, the money problems the sex problems like all this stuff, but that show really showed like it is worth fighting for like it is actually worth trying to work out because it can be incredibly powerful in life life-affirming. What did you learn about? Marriage is an institution and a concept while making a show well, it's very It's not natural. When we did the show about parenting leagues, the thing that we kept returning to the kept coming back was like love your children and express your love for them, which is actually kind of the most natural thing in the world really late. That's not a tall order, but with. Marriage even the best couples, even the luckiest couples. The most compatible couples are going to struggle. Because because it is, it is not a natural arrangement. It's not built into our biology to do this, and and so that means it's doesn't mean that it's not worth doing, and it doesn't. The institution isn't powerful. Because in some ways it's never been more powerful than it is right now, but on the other hand I like it does require a lot of effort and a lot of endurance. My last question is just did this podcast the process of making it make you a better husband, and as a follow up like I, asked before. Would your wife agree with that I? Know? Did and I I know she would agree with it for sure. You know I, think just the the fighting episode was a really big one. Where it's just like you realize like actually, there's no point doing this. If you really WanNa change, things like have a serious conversation about them. Don't get into these screaming matches that. End Up just backtracking on and nothing ever happens like and you know there was something there was some very serious sort of I mean not very serious, but I am medium sized family crisis and in the middle of doing this podcast, and because I did the show I was really quite a bit calmer than I think I would have been before i. was just like you know what it's like. I feel threatened, but don't, but it's just. It's just physiological. Just just let it go. Just let it go, and you think about it when you're when when sanity is returned I'm going to remember that advice when Rosemary gets mad at me possibly while listening to this episode. Well I. Mean I think one thing that's really important like you really realize that how much pop culture and media assumptions about marriage of created this impression like it's i. mean it's happily ever after whatever and it's just. It's nonsense I. Mean we all know it's nonsense, but you the figuring out how this works involves a lot of effort. It's hard to admit that to yourself that. That it's all nonsense, yeah, I think I think it's really shoved down our throats, and then we don't ask ourselves these questions like I. I actually assumed doing this I. Mean it's weird to think but I was like a forty year old man who thought that married people had sex three times a week. And then I talk to an expert and they're like no joking like. And it was like right. Of course, of course that kind infer even basic information is not really available even to married people. You're kind of just left alone to deal with it, and there's no reason not to know. There's no reason to be ignorant. Stephen Thank you so much for this and I look forward to listen to the rest of the show. That was pleasure. Give give my best rosemary.

"Right now I'm here with Tina Amini Sam, claiborne and Lucille Brian. WHAT'S UP, everybody? Hey. Hello, there Thank you for joining me on this. Very special edition of Games cube part of June simmer gaining. We've got to talk about Sony's playstation, five future of gaming event yesterday and I give me serve overall impressions. Would you think of the show? Let's start with Tina. It Yeah I. Mean twofold right like I thought the Games were really amazing. They had thirty seven games, which is really impressive There's something exciting about every single one of them. We got to see the actual console design finally just a really big news drop their, and honestly I was just overall impressive with the production value general, especially given you know work from home mandates and working and living through the quarantine, so I thought they did a really good job. That was exciting to watch. Lucy era, a regular cast member of our place in podcast podcast beyond and I know you. did a bunch of pre and post show coverage of yesterday. What were your overall impressions okay? Festival beyond second of all. I thought that the show is great. I think as Tina said that was a great lineup of games. it. Really Tony Really positioned itself as like this is the holiday console these other games. You're only going to get up to get on playstation. Five of them were very family friendly I. Really think that that was a smart play on their part. And you know the console itself. It's wild. It's ridiculous I. Love it I think it's just like it was just really really fun Shar and I. Think Sony is kind of in the late now when it comes to this console racism. I tend to agree with that Sam I know you've been doing a lot of game on xbox. This generation did the conference yesterday. Do Anything to sort of change your mind about where you'll be spending your time. There! There's so many games across both systems that are awesome I think you're gonNA be fine with either system at this point, but man I really liked yesterday's show because I always say this I. Don't really care how the console looks. So there's this looks Kinda goofy and I don't really want it outside of my home console. I kind of want to put it in a cabinet. We'll see how that goes, but I do think. The Games are really important focus on demand. There are such such A. A huge variety of games and one thing that I need to do is start like seeing the previews of these games, which we're doing and stuff like that because I want to see what they look like Super High Rez. Glorious Four K. because I've seen is like my best youtube up. You know and like I can't really see if they look different next Gen, but they look fun and that's awesome. Like. What was it Tina thirty seven new fun games to check out now that so exacly? That's really I can't wait. I was I was a little bit shocked. At how many games there were in the conference yesterday? Also just. It's crazy to think that you know Sony backed out of the three last year. They weren't planning incoming this year, but then gets cancelled and now Sony's back with a three level conference. The Week of Winnie three would have been in like Microsoft is nowhere to be seen. It's disagrees when. Is a wild ride all statement. I. Are So good. They're like they're like so like. Did you just show the trailer? Show that there's nobody walking around and pacing. Honestly I was a little bit amazed that they were able to get. People cut out on black backgrounds for the interviews that they had like. I don't really know how they pulled that off. They look at our crazy steph back here, but they literally pro and I think they did a really good job. Just showing the important stuff and I liked that. So as as the event was going on, and we just kept seeing game after game after game I started to wonder if they were going to show, go the hardware, but of course at the they did at the end revealed the places to five hardware, and it has been It's been. It's been a talking point for sure. If a wildly different council design I'm in the camp I think it's a little a little gaudy and I much prefer the sort of. Silence Classy xbox series design, but I know that a apparently I'm in the minority there. Sixty eight percent of I, raiders say love the playstation five council design. Sam Seems to agree with me. Lucy is a little bit more in favor of it Tina. How do you feel about it? I think I'm in the like ten, or whatever other remaining percent of Jan polled readers that just don't really care. I'm fine with either way. It's going to be the system that I play hopefully the amazing games that they showcased in the conference the other day, and that's the thing that I have my mind most on, and then the controller, which looks comfortable and maneuverable. 'cause. That's obviously the vehicle by which we're experiencing the game, so the console I'll I'll throw it up next to my TV I. Don't mind either way. Yeah it's pretty cool. Very different. That is very different I like the design of the controller a lot. But I think the council. The council's pretty ugly to me. We have a quote from Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan explaining the design choice today said the playstation sits in the living area of most homes, and we kind of felt it'd be nice to provide a design that would really grace most living areas. That's what we do and you know. We think we've been successful in that. Jim. My wife would beg to differ with you. There's no way she would let me have. But, like what? What does Jan Ryan's Living Room? Look like if that is kind of like. Just said like an easy thing to slip into it I. Mean I i. just think this design is bonkers. It's basically the of the gaming console equivalent of racing stripes on a car. It's just so silly and I love it. I love it because every other game console the. Being conservative with its design and this is just so ridiculously out there.

Lots of other great information shared in this episode as well. We really appreciate it. If you could help, spread the word shared the show with somebody in your life, and without further ado here we go with Sayer G. Hello Sayer welcome to the PODCAST. Yeah really say to have you on the show. This has been a long time coming. And I really loved your new book regenerate, and in there you share your story, which wasn't familiar beforehand, and and it goes all the way back to childhood, and the sickness that you went through as a kid and a teenager, and you share a whole bunch in there that you went through such as money having your tonsils removed, and you ended up having hip surgery later on, and it goes on and on overweight unfit. You ended up I think it was about at age seventeen. You had surgery on your sinuses, so you went through quite a bit. And my question for you is what was the catalyst behind all that well yeah I think for me. Getting into natural advocacy was allies were destined sesame given. Experience by. Acute episodes the Bronco Asthma you know. They checked me up enough in US multi fight lungs working. So from very early on I just. I struggled allies, and then came later in my life to ernest on nutrition, exercise and mind body practices so ultimately. That was guest that I felt so much because than it needed a passions. WanNa share you know the alternatives. Natural Approaches that I know can in some cases provide so much humor well. Let's talk about that. Turning point and I know this took place in your first year in college so. I become exposed to alternative health ideas. Well, you know my sister was someone who is naturally inclined to health food stores for example, I was way more conventional member over time I started to. Like the of that way than starts looking to literature that you'd find in these helped stores and taking on raw shrewd in the mucus diets, as it was known by Arnold era and a member thinking well. I've never not eaten. Save Council products. What would happen if I ate raw? And within three days of just going ahead and eliminating house, my asthma went away and never came back. It wasn't so raw. Fruit is, but the BUFFY Diet says exclude common engaged delicious. Western foods such as cow smoke novas like my. Moment, and when you hit that piff any moment, obviously, you've been going through a lot for so long. What was your initial reaction? Were you angry that you've been through so much? And you're just finding this information now or obviously? You're excited about digging in deeper in seeing what could come a vet, but talk about those initial reactions when you start to feel better over the course of a few days. That's such a great question because I think it's true that while I was elated excited, because for the first time in my life I didn't have to carry an inhaler around and think that you know. My body was fundamentally cursed. You know cloak in I was shocked to fine that you know something as simple as excluding cosmic for my genetics type would have prevented me from the Medical Mary around downward cycle. You know that I went to some level. There was a part of me that became. Hannah triggered to like oh my. What is my parents? Know this you know. You. Pour me. A. Journey retakes. One of these starts reclaim. Our health is you do? Realize there is a bit of. archetype underneath some of the symptoms. You know would've been more convenient for me to say. The doctors are right. This pathway humid of causes it, but you manage symptoms by ways. You should thank us for saving your last person. Sandwiches that the way we eat in this country. Is Disease Camale, N detectives and I'm barely one of the things that happened for me to sort of took the red pill that speak event. Lady but I was also like Gosh. We need to change things people now. There are these ways to heal known. About and this big shift in your life in your health happen when you're early in college as I mentioned. What were you taking at the time? The time you know, it was sort of just exploring the why started out actually went to university as an art student, and Mason Gross and I found it a little bit more fizeau. I ended up. Just go to college proper and. Just. Five years trying out pretty much anything that interested me. It ended up getting a degree in philosophy, so it's like a deep expiration time both in an hour.

"Easily drop to have no business losing fixing interim five point and I look. It's made the plant one time in seventeen years. There's no like it even guests a number for teen. This made the class one in seventeen year. Thanks hopefully since Zaman done any and they have a quarterback off all right now we asked to perform. It's one of those played out and see where they're going to let me I think. Can you state the chiefs are GONNA win? Eleven and twelve and not blink horse but there's a lot there loop teams NFL. You can look at any schedules they're going to have. This many won't because you can Adams said at the other day news any game in the NFL for other than the chiefs and the Saints. A few others on put the cowboys owner. Can you and. I don't even know cowboys went. Only one eight or nine. You don't know just gotTa play it out. I think I think you're playing for second and it's all going to depend on which one of those three teens. You know what they've done to upgrade and translate out onto the field at if it does go the other way You know which got obviously. Yeah you never know as we sit here in early. May Who do you think if that were to happen? We're look back on the season at that point. Who you think would get blamed or who do you think the blame with lie if it goes sideways? Oh it'll go to Derek Carr Fair enough. I mean they're not they're not gonNA blame a head coach who's got a ten year deal. You know in in their cars lightning and he has been for a while in. I mean you know. This is not dates usually to quarterback. It's always the quarterback. Okay I'll word at a different way. Who I if it goes if it goes sideways. Who who do you believe would be like the real culprit in that case? I'm not forget like who might get blamed or what the perception might be. What do you think they? What do you think the The letdown would be if not responsible for but who literally would not live or play up to expectations for that APP. Oh I don't know if he can say single person I would just say defensively I mean. I think car would be because easy to blame the quarterback whether it's fair or not a lot of times it's not fair but if they're six and ten my guess is will be sitting here in a podcast Sane. All those supposedly defensive Improvements didn't work out because they just gave between points. Because I'm with you on the fact they should score points if they don't score points me really in trouble with what they've got it so. I don't know if it's I don't know if I can say one defensive player but I would think if they're six and ten were really honest about it will say again. They didn't perform defensively and yet you don't know people will always go to the quarterback and by the way of their six and ten. He's GonNa be the quarterback anymore so but truthfully and honestly I think if it goes south. It'll be defensively and we'll sit there and say all the upgrades said make didn't play up to their ability. Do you think at the end of this year. Cars GonNa whether whatever the record might be what we see visually on how he plays in how this offense by do you think that he'll be above the other. The back that the criticism of the responsibility now I think he should because I think they're going to score more points. Being between the twenties last drift can get ends on. Now you have whitten was great. You know he's he's up in years but he's always on the end zone. I think Henry Rugs as a difference not as much I think drugs could catch. A lot of touchdown passes but. I think he might open things up for other people. Josh Jacobs is in a second year. I think they're going to score more so I think that means car will play above expectations. But still they're seven and nine and six and ten. He could play about expectations. And not be the quarterback appalling. Yeah yeah that's that's the interesting thing for me like how you know who the person is going to be. If it doesn't work out you know this share and I guess we'll save because it's GonNa all bear out at some point. We're going to be able to figure out all right. It wasn't their cars all or you know. It wasn't the defenses offense. It's going to be entrusted to me if it goes sideways like that. You know where where the issues in Lebron's fault so everyone Mike. Mayock is putting himself out there in a position where you know he could. He can certainly take some of the criticism and I think he has done something. The last couple of years that I applaud. He's got away from group and Group. They always tells us like these. Are The guy this is the order. These are the best available players and I think far too often coach news fall victim of this general manager victim of this is what I go by what everybody else is thinking. I'm not GonNa take much critising Mike at this point to. Hey everybody felt that way but he has kind of stepped out and said. Hey these are the guys I want. This is my list. I'M GONNA to the vegetable available players to me which I think is the right thing to do and I applaud it but it also set yourself up where you are wrong. You are really taking a lot of eating a lot of criticism so you know. He's done at three years in a row with guys. Nobody thought we're going in the position. Where the raiders took him and if it works out you are genius and if it doesn't people on crucifying so I I think he's put himself in that position to which is good but you know he's got to answer for those decisions that have been made in the draft last couple of years. "Beat writers Vinnie Bonsignore and Miles Simmons. Guys first of all. I know it's been one of these weeks where we're all starting to get into benching things I've been. Actually Kinda doing my raiders. History going back in time looking at old footage as far back as I could find I I'm curious though. What do you guys benching right now? In this crazy time that we have going on. Vinnie what do you? What do you got on your plate? I guess there is a reason why didn't start watching breaking bad all those years and in spite of hearing so many great things about it. I put it off just never got around to it and I have gotten around to it and I looked completely hooked one a show. So you know I guess we have to make the most of the situation. We are working and That certainly occupied my attention for sure. How about you miles when he got. You know I've been watching a lot of curb your enthusiasm. I'm very loved curb that's great. It's hilarious. I just got through season six a couple days ago. And then you know. I'm still watching it yesterday and I'm like wow. This is already the season finale of season seven. So I gotTa tell you this meeting awesome. Those are both great series and I have to say at the top of my list for both of them especially breaking bad might be my favorite series of all time. But we don't WANNA keep everybody else out there involved in what we're doing because we're we're all going through this together and we're going to get through it together. Part of what? We all need to get through together is how this draft is. GonNa Happen without any physical presence with all of these Different prospects and you know the plan was to bring him off the Bellagio fountains and I walked out there. This Saturday and it was really just a sad scene. I have never seen the Strip so empty. I was able to take selfies in front of several properties with like nobody in the background. And the only reason I did that was to Kinda documented a selfie person. I don't like getting my phone out on tokens fees. But it was just. It was something I felt that we needed to be able to see and The raiders right now are I. Don't know how this is going to work out. We're GONNA talk all about this tomorrow as well but Just to briefly Kinda go over it Vinnie when we heard the announcement this weekend From Roger Goodell talking about you know it was this past week. Excuse me from Roger. Goodell saying that the Vegas will have nothing happening here. There's not going to be any kind of presents. What did you gather like that? They may have planned to do besides like just the studio show with these there any kind of plan that you've heard of that. They have as far as how the broadcast is going to work. Not really and I regret you know There was a memo that I got a copy of and took a look at and Basically for not not just draft but for other ways to be able to engage with fans and you know continue on what the NFL is trying to do this off season. Just you know Providing content with with fans a connection with fans there urging employees of of teams across the League. Maybe come up with ideas and don't be afraid to to offer a month and so Not entirely sure. Exactly how GonNa GonNa Happen but you know what we suspected from. The very beginning was that you would have like a controlled atmosphere. A studio of early in the New York City Area Baby California depending on where everything stands with Corona virus at that point But something that's going to be safe for everybody in vulgar as safe as possible for everybody involved there is been some talk about cutting into the homes of prospects as they get drafted. capture Those moments that he cutting into teams facilities as they make they make the call. I'm sure they'll be something creative. But first and foremost about safety and you know I feel like obviously the. Nfl made the right decision to practice. Caution in this regard dealt Las Vegas will always be here. The city is just now starting. It's it's official fulltime relationship with the NFL. They'll be many events that come here super balls likely draft again so no needs to Russia There is no no point in doing that. That's two to play the sand and miles something else the NFL is doing that. Is going to likely affect the process of bringing in people especially these free agents that the raiders have signed. Is there postponing physicals with players? Players can go get their own physical from their own doctor. I believe Tom Brady is done that. And he's turned it into the Tampa Bay buccaneers. How much is this kind of? Slow down the process for bringing in processing people. That the raiders assignment over the weekend. They signed four guys. We're going to get into that as well but You know is. What does this do for those people out? How does it slow the process? I think it slows down significantly and I think you know one thing that we can say is that they haven't necessarily signed very many free agents in terms of physical damage announced any free agents that they have signed technically. I mean we know this. Because they've agreed to terms and that information can be reported but for whatever reason and different organizations have different approaches to this. The raiders have not officially announced anything really when it comes to their frazier in the way that they're sending them so like I said it's different approaches for different organizations but I think not having. Nfl team facilities open right now. That really is affecting the way that business can get done both from the standpoint of Free Agency. You Know How do you? I guess it'll make sure that some guys feel comfortable with what you're doing you know inside your building and all these different things. And there's another element to that. Of course the raiders. Because they're not going to be in Alameda for very much longer. They're going to be down here in Henderson. So that's one element to it but then we can talk about the draft. I mean you're missing out on all these top thirty visits you're missing out on. You know guys being able to get more medical information so yeah. There's a lot of stuff that just really is not happening in terms of the normal business cycle of the NFL. Even though we still know a lot of a lot of where these free agents are GonNa go and play and I gotta I gotTa if I can add. I was talking to a couple of general managers about this in specifically as it relates to the draft. And you're the feedback that I'm getting. Is it really really? The current setup As a result of corona virus really puts a premium on film work guys that are apt at that. Scouts coaches general managers that that are strong in that area but also relationships that you have throughout the sport of football and I'm going all the way back. High-school College You know the the information that you can gather the data that she can get her the work that you put in prior to any of these restrictions being put in place Are going to be extremely valuable. And and I think the teams that are on top of that and have been on top of that throughout this process. Not just now but Going all the way back to the last summer when teens started you know the real serious process of gathering information on players and going to visit with them and scouting them in person and business practices of making relationships with coaches and people at colleges that these players led to all of that. Become such a premium right now in this process because as much as miles bench and you can't just bring a guy in right now to visit you can't you don't have the thirty visits. You can't go to pro. Days are no pro days. You can't send your sense of line. Coach personally work out. You know an offensive lineman that you might be considering the fifth or sixth round of because that's not allowed anymore so it really really really puts a premium on in ingenuity but just a master of of relationships and film study and what they can do though is like I've seen to a for instance. He kinda did this whole video. Workout entered it in. So that's something that I guess. If you have the resources and the ability to put something like that together and the timer to hire somebody to do it. I know all the exact logistics that go behind no for player. But you know these are things that I think people have to start thinking outside the box about and and getting them into these teams or at least there's on a social platform so that teams can look at them. But I can say business is chugging. Along here the raiders. They've agreed to terms with Wide Receiver Nelson Galore. They also over the weekend Resigned running back Rod Smith and also have agreed to terms with air cushion. Nick O'Leary another tight end. The whole thing is kind of interesting to me but if you could just wait us through just what you think. Nelson Galore brings to this depth at the wide receiver chart and his experience that he's had with the Eagles in the past five seasons of any. What does he bring to the table here for? The raiders will certainly he brings Yes a lot of starting experience. You also brings production. I don't think he's ever quite broken out the way some people thought You know you stick tape drafted in two thousand fifteen middle of the first round. He's probably hasn't lived up to those expectations. He has had some problems with drops that letter well chronicled but at the very least brings starting experience in production to a wide receiver group. That has hardly any of that in in when you think about you know what they have coming back. Tara Williams Young injury plagued season last year that that really sabotaged his first year. With the raiders with the foot issues Hunter Renfro is a rookie. Came on strong. Was was you know? Made made a real immediate impact as a rookie but aside from those two players. There's really nothing at the wide receiver position right now. I can give you any kind of confidence about productivity experience so Nelson certainly brings that push for a starting job I do. Think the raiders Will address their their main wide. Receiver Need Wide Receiver. One in the draft so I don't think that Nelson necessarily comes in Arizona starter. Although he could push Williams that that's conceivable But by these also a really ideal fourth wide receiver. And you need that. You need when you need somebody coming off the bench that you believe can produce has produced. So I think that. That's that's exactly what he brings medic. That's what the raiders vision in agreeing to contracts with him and he's been another guy has super bowl. Experience at other guy may not believe ranked as his number five Top wide receivers of that year's draft and he was picked to twentieth overall by the Eagles. So miles like Vinnie was saying a lot of people have always said about his career that he never really came to fruition with what the expectations were Do you think that was just due in part to some of the other players that he was surrounded by or the scheme that he was put in or that? Maybe he flourished more like. Let's say in a slot position than he did Being put on as the number one guy. What do you think it was? That didn't really come up for Nelson and his career. I mean I think that there are a lot of different factors. Probably a you go back earlier in his career. There was probably a little bit of quarterback instability and then Carson Wentz does come in and stabilizes that position and I mean look when you look at the fact that his best years came when the eagles were really doing stuff. I mean you look at. His best season was in two thousand seventeen. When caught sixty two passes seven hundred sixty yards eight touchdowns that's when Carson Wentz was an MVP candidate that's when obviously the Eagles won the Super Bowl over the New England patriots so there are times when Agla or yes was able to kind of put it together but I think even when as you were just alluding to hide even when those years were going on? He wasn't necessarily the best wide receiver on his own team. Now showing Jeffrey. Obviously one of those guys that was there and you'll get the tight ends with Zach Kurtz. He was somebody who was a huge target for them so I think part of it is offense part of his execution..

"We're going down. All of the free agency moves that. The raiders have made an signings agreements. People have come to terms with because you know a lot of this stuff. We still don't have numbers on like I haven't seen numbers yet with Marcus Mariota. Let's just give a quick recap on all the names right now. The raiders have for linebacker. Nick Wykowski what quarterback Marcus Mariota linebacker. Cory Littleton Jason. Witten in the tight end position. Jeff Heath on safety defensive tackle me Collins defensive and Carl Nassib and also ally apple a cornerback. And there's some raiders. Now that are are not a with the team any longer that were players. I think some Raider fans were sad to see go. One of those names is karl-josef. Benny what do you have on karl-josef Van M. leaving to go to the browns? Why think curl became expendable when the raiders? Jeff ARE TO BE SIGNED. Geoff from the Dallas Cowboys. Starting Caliber Safety Sorta last three years for the Dallas Cowboys. So the writing was on the wall at that signing You Know He. He just never quite lived up to expectations as a very high Twenty Sixteen Played reasonably well last year with the big interception against the chargers but also was lost for the season on that on same play and I just think the writers want to go in a different direction. I also wouldn't this doesn't preclude them from Yup potentially drafting a safety in April for the there are okay with Jeffey as the starter in that kind of pushed. Carl officially out the door. I don't think he was coming back regardless of that. That since the deal right there. Okay so we've gotten into pretty much l. The players that we hadn't already discussed here on Vegas nation so you can check out our podcast for Monday and Tuesday for all of our breakdown analysis on earlier signings in the week We just spoke about ally apple and I had went out on twitter and ask some of the fans. Let us know what they thought about. The signings was there anyone. They were excited about anybody that they were not excited about and so far. Everything is positive. We're getting nothing but positive tweets guys on one of them comes from Jonathan Madrid. He's very excited about. The linebacker moves that were made because it was most definitely a position of need not excited though that we lost the war with Miami for Jones as I'm Byron Jones. The cowboys cornerback He is curious to see how the draft will change for the team so we'll they go wide receiver and cornerback. Now what do you think miles? I think it's certainly possible. Go wide. Receiver cornerback I would still say that I mean wide receiver obviously is the big one and you know. I think that everybody expects that. The raiders are going to draft a wide receiver in the first round. Whether that's a twelve or nineteen or maybe they even do it up all right like I don't know but I think that there's reason to believe that now that they have picked up these different these different players in three agency. There's the flexibility to be able to say all right well we could move up with twelve in nineteen and maybe go get somebody else. That would not necessarily be expected and there are still wide receivers out there. That could be had at a certain price. If that's the re the way that the Raiders WanNa guy now vinnie been his reported about the interest. That the raiders might have in Robbie Anderson who has been on the jets last year so there are different ways that this could go for the raiders. But I think that what they've done is they've set themselves up now to say all right. We don't have to do any one particular thing once we get into a into the draft. Yeah and we have another one here from Bill Morrow Baraza Junior. He says Marietta is the one. He's most excited about right now. As far as the signings hopefully him and car can make each other better. He also wants to know when their official word on raiders gear is out and also he says. Let the best man win as far as quarterback job so Vinny how active. Do you think that this will be as far as competition? This is something really interesting that I wanted to note on that before we get into it just because I've been doing a little research on the back end of things with mayock and Gruden and there's a lot of footage from back in the twentieth fifteen draft were. Marietta was taken second overall they. They were just a static with him as a player. They both thought he had everything to offer. I mean now with these. Two kind of heading up the raiders. I mean do you think how how much they're going to be backing? Mariota in not just being a backup but also in may be competing for cars job I don't think they're gonNA You know couches as This is a quarterback competition or You know we brought in Marcus. Mariota potentially take their cars job. But I don't think they're going to rule anything out as well and you mentioned the The appreciation that both Mike via Jon Gruden had Marcus. Mariota in that draft At that time their roles were as analysts and they obviously like him a lot and they never really clear and there's a lot to like about the skill set that he brings in one of the things in particular is his ability to run into You know Great first down yardage in move chains with his legs and so that's a component that Derek Carr doesn't have the Marcus Mariota certainly as in today's NFL. It's it's a commodity that coaches like now to have flexibility at at quarterback the ability to run so he certainly brings to the table But I think that more than anything it's GonNa Push Derek Carr And that's always a good thing and they'll be competition that's created as a result of that. Marcus Mariota is a proud Former second overall pick in the NFL draft heisman trophy winner. He's used to being in playing at a high level and wants to start on that changes whatsoever. So it'll be it'll be interesting. I think this definitely keeps Derek Kind of hold his feet to the fire a little bit in to push him to be a better player and we'll have to see if he responds if he doesn't Arthur's an injury or the case I think. The raiders are pretty comfortable now in their in their backup quarterback. Marcus Mariota and as ARIZA'S SECOND QUESTION. Also any word on official. Lv raiders gear. Sorry I do not have any official word yet but when we get it you'll be the first to know miles. That part of with Mariota's career has been hampered by injury because he's had a lot of issues that have kept them off the field and gave a lot of openings there for guys like Ryan Tannehill to take the reins and just kind of take over the offense so to speak. I mean. Do you think that a healthy Mariota may be a different player than what we've already seen? But I think the biggest issue there is. I mean Mario seems like he's always questionable for something and I sort of you know kind of just with that but I also really don't. It seems like he's had a lot of issues from ankles elbow to believe there's been a chest injury one point or another like there's just been a lot of things that have gone on with mark. Marietta Regis has not really been healthy. So I mean you pair that with the fact that he's so many offensive coordinator so many different head coaches. It's not necessarily a recipe for success. So I think hidden getting into a situation that can be a little bit more consistent indefinitely. Help him out for sure. But I don't know you're going to have to see. Can he stay healthy? And can you know if you're in the offseason program? Is You really GonNa look that much better than Derek Carr depending on who he's throwing to if he's throwing the guys work twos maybe threes? It's probably not gonNA look that much better than Derek Carr but I think if he gets a chance to happen. They're the ones. Maybe you see a little bit of a difference but I don't. I don't know how much they're going to really do that. During the course of their off-season program if we even get an off season program that is worthwhile. I mean you got to think about it this way with the way things are going with corona virus might right now. The players may not get to the field until training camp. That's a real distinct possibility. So it's going to be really difficult. I think to handicap competition because of those kinds of things and you mentioned the Karuna virus and we do have to address this because there is a writer. The we found a linebacker Quinton polling. Who served on the practice squad and was re signed with the practice squad? In February with the raiders. He has Just put I guess self quarantine on himself in his family. He's been very active on twitter. He had gone to Spain. He came home. He had all the symptoms of Corona virus. But if this is per his tweet here on March seventeenth. But because I'm too healthy to be hospitalized they refuse to admit me Cova nineteen tests. And tell me I'm good to go home and fly back to Florida and a couple of days. I love it Hashtag. Ohio Health Department. Well let's fast forward here to March eighteenth where he was finally tested me says. Apparently it isn't that hard after all things to everyone here for the support. My family and I will continue to quarantine here in Ohio. So of course the tests actually about two days to get the results back but I mean when you look at just the timelines of things. They've already I believe postponed the off season activities Mark Miles. You've been following the Clinton Poland story pulling story so Have you heard anything from the Raiders Organization on this? They have been in touch with him But beyond that. There's not much new to report and I mean obviously when you're talking about this kind of thing it's pretty serious and people have had been people beneath them to matic. People have experienced different systems as symptoms. I should say In polling his you know as you pointed out Heidi has been pretty active on twitter in terms of talking about what his symptoms were. And then you know so that he couldn't get tested but then obviously he filled up with that. He did get tested on Wednesday so we will see how this turns out. But as far as as far as what I've been told yes. The raiders have been in touch with them. And you know obviously you wish him the best. But beyond that there's not necessarily much-needed report. They're all right and in terms of like kind of things being postponed. How far out do you expect the postponements to go with the off season activities?.

"Littleton is really proficient in that area. As a three down linebacker able to provide pass coverage rush the passer to stop the run so I would think that they were going to make a move in that direction. Somehow some way in free agency as well so for me you gotta look at wide receiver and and and a Making linebacker at twelve nineteen. If they're not looking to make a change at quarterback so from this game just just this game. 'cause I know there's a ton of guys like you said at wide receiver debt Do you think that any of the wide receivers might interest them. Maybe somebody like March Chase. You know he had a good game team in the championship. Game from L. Issues. So I was just wondering your thoughts on this game. If Mike Mayock is putting on the same hat he did last ear and getting Cleveland Farrell and getting a Trayvon Molin. Is this something that he does again. This year in looking at the death of these two teams miles. I think there's a lot that you can look at with. The Way Clinton competed with the way that LSU competed. I think a lot of people talking about the weapons that Joe Borough had and I think it's interesting because I know that the guy sitting to my right things that Joe Borough is going to be a bust when when he makes it to the NFL based on the phone playing in such a great offense boy. I know I don't I don't get it but to be clear I'm talking about Adam Hill Sir but I think when you look at just the way that things went in that game. I mean a Jess Joe. Borough has a lot of good weapons ends in yes. He's playing a good offense of system. But I also think that you know if I think if you're most teams and if you were the raiders. The raiders are not really going to have this chance because I don't don't think there's any chance. Cincinnati doesn't draft. Joe Borough but if you I think have you watched the totality of the season and understand that Joe borough played in a really solid offense and then had had to do a lot of things in terms of ball placement and making sure that he had a good pocket presence. I I think he would be still the number one targeted guy off of a lot of guys draft boards. But you know like I said he has really good weapons. So if you're talking about why receives yeah you can look at both sides and say man. There are a lot of good wide receivers that one could pick and then improved their team. LSU has always had great weapons Yup just look at all the Lsu wide receivers and play in the NFL. Provide Joe Borrow was was able to elevate even those type of players And that's why they won the national championship and arguably arguably the Best College football season of all time. The quarterback is pretty good over there. And he's going to be the number one second yeah. I don't suspect that he's going to be a anybody's best raiders at least have a one little piece of that. LSU powerhouse. That's foster moreau so tight end but I'm sure they're looking forward to his growth as raider in the coming years but that is all the time we have here today on the Vegas Nation podcast..

"Where is on the line and right now we have an update for you from Rick Vlada who spoke with us a little bit earlier about the current status of the stadium? And will it be done on on time. I know that's a big burning question. So let's go ahead and get the update from rank as promised joining us now on the Vegas Nation. podcast we have Rick Vlada in-studio in studio and he is going to bring you up to date on everything that's happening with the stadium because I'm seeing on social media right now that a lot of people are concerned particularly about the roof. And I'll tell you. Rick is our assistant business editor here at the paper and he is on top of all of this. He is in the know with the stadium. He knows every detail every rivet of this place so tell me right now. How concerned Raider Fan should be about the stadium roof and any delays that? It may cause for the opening of the Stadium Stadium. Well I I think that That there is a certain level of concern because this was a project that they had said they were going to deliver. Last August he got pushed back back to September and then it got pushed back to November then it got pushed back to December. And now we're hearing that it's going to be pushed back to mid may well if the stadium is going to open July alight thirty I is. Everybody says it's going to to open. Then that's cutting it pretty close in terms of getting this accomplished in time so you know that's that's one concern. The other concern is that It's it's it's a lot of different projects that are going on at the same. Mm Time if the roof is not enclosed and it rains it could damage a lot of the things that have already been done. which that's that's another big worry? Okay so those are the things that they're going to be watching an kind of concerned about in the months ahead and when we talk about this stadium and you bring up in a lot of people. I think don't really understand that Las Vegas has a monsoon season at the end and football season. The start of it and you're looking at the preseason. That's Kinda prime monsoon soon season so I can understand the concern there. A lot of other people talk about the parking situation We haven't really updated anything here on this podcast. Essence you were last on about the parking situation so I believe I have heard that some areas getting bought up in that there are going to be spots around there. What can you tell us about the parking as fans start to make their plans to come to games here in Vegas? What will the the the raiders have expanded the number of lots that they have acquired? I think they're now up to six or seven different different places. Where you can park and then get shuttled into into the Games? So it's now a matter matter of working out those details like which. which lot should I park in? If I'm going to be seated in this particular area. What areas are going to be most conducive induces to tailgating I it's those types of details that I think that People are looking for answers on because the capacity is not not a problem anymore. In light of the fact that they've got all these different Lots that had been purchased. In addition the raiders are kind of expecting that most of the people who will be attending these football games will either be staying at resorts on the Strip and can walk or they can take mass transit to to to the to the site and then of course there's always the the uber lift Option as well so as far as finding a place to park. I don't think that's going to be a concern It's just a different way of going to the stadium. I know that you have been to the stadium in Minneapolis. They don't have any parking the on site and it seems to work out okay with them and they haven had a super bowl there. So it's not like this is a The first time this has ever happened and the the raiders are looking in terms of this being a different experienced getting there and he wants to be a good experience helpfully. They'll find someplace to tailgate aside from. I'm in the hotels because his hotel isn't gonNA offer too much space for them to do that. But it's part of the whole experience I had heard that there was some promenade. That my turn up around the stadium that may be developed. But what do you know about who were there. There are a lot of different proposals and ideas. That are out there. And they haven't really been fully explained to to what's going on. I have heard that the raiders are of very conscious of the fact that they want to have a very good tailgate gate experience and thus they've got some plans in the works that they have not unveiled yet. They've talked a little bit To to some people who have been covering that off the record in in terms of what they want to talk about so I feel I feel like I can't really disclose what some of those conversations are but at the same time They're very very conscious of the fact that they want it to be a good tailgate experience and it sounds like what they've got planned is going to be something that the fans are GonNa look forward to okay so on Thursday which his today actually as podcast is being recorded We will have a huge meeting. Where the Raiders Stadium Authority will meet and again Kinda track all the different tasks that have to be done now as I read in your article there are forty forty one thousand only forty one thousand individual task right right now Someone schedule some behind. What can you think of Aside from the roof right now they may be kind of key things that really need to be attract on time that are on this. I know it's forty one thousand things but what key things can you think of that. They may be discussing in in a lot of respects. What they don't need to get done is maybe more important list and among those things that they're going to do is back in the house stuff so things that the fans don't even see see and they don't even really care about those are going to be wait they're gonNA wait on those? Incidentally even though they get a temporary occupancy permit to move in on July thirty first I. They're really not going to be done with the stadium until October. That's something that they've set for all in all along. That's part of their plan Among among some of the other things that are not going to be done this stadium's GonNa have four Locker rooms they're only going to really need two of them Immediately for the the raiders and for the visiting team so those other two locker rooms are probably not going to be finished right away Those are in place for for other teams had come in for for example. If you have a final four you're gonNA need four locker rooms so it's not really essential that they get get those done right away. They're certainly going to have everything that's in a public setting a completed they're gonNA have all the concession stands done. All the seats installed called They want to have all the mechanical stuff that will that will be in good working order. So those are the things that are going to be most important for them to get done And some of these other things that can wait they will wait. They just won't finish them right away. Okay as we wrap things up here give me the level of completion that you expect. This has to be at Probably let's say by July which is when they're supposed to have an opening July thirty first so if you have detractors attracted to the first of July how much percentage of the stadium will actually be done. Do you think by what you've heard I would just guess ninety ninety five percent completed And again those those Those last few items. That don't have to be done won't be done And all the public areas will. It'll be I think that the most important thing is to To to keep it safe make sure that field is in place Obviously that's a big component of the of the stadium. The the the field trae that moves in and out there already underway on that there were got the high doors pretty much done so so a lot of that is A lot of the really important things are are complete is just had roof that makes people worried because that is the key and and and there's a lot of important physics that go into how you put that roof in place People that are smarter than me can probably explain it better than I can but at the same time the fact is is that they have five engineering companies. That have come in and have reviewed how to do this and and it sounds like they've got a pretty good idea on how they're going to put in place and it's going to take some time to do it and again it's just the cable net system system that supports the translucent roof. That is kind of the concern right now whether or not it's going to be able to support the actual right. Wow all right so we will bring you in much more rick as I think we lead up to July. Maybe we'll get a monthly update going for the fans here That way we can keep them up to date on all all things happening with the stadium as well we. We certainly appreciate your time today. And can you let everybody know here where to find you on twitter. Sure I am at at Rick Vlada. RIC KVIL VIDEO OT TA and he will always be out there tweeting. He's a madman. If you follow him. He's got all these meetings. He's always up to date. He's giving you the play by. I play for everything happening with the stadium. Here allegiance stadium. Las Vegas expecting at all to be done by the time the season starts and preseason season obviously in August. So we'll keep it. Keep it tuned right here. Everybody and we'll be back with more here on Vegas nation again. That was Rick Vlada. You can can find all his stuff here on review journal Dot Com and give him a follow as well on twitter to keep up to date with everything happening on the stadium as we mentioned in that interview There is a big issue right now as to whether or not that roof will get up on time. Will it. Cause any damage to anything in there and also how. Much percentage scented of the stadium. We expect to be done. There is a meeting happening very shortly here. On a Thursday that will bring some more information to light. We hope Vinnie. I believe you have some information on that as well. What can you tell us about your knowledge of the stadium? Update US there. Yeah and you know not a construction worker So well I don't have all the technical aspects too but what I can say is that I have been assured the highest levels of the raiders. That everything's GonNa be fine. It's going to be Completed in time to host the to play out the playoff games. The two preseason games who knows off off the bus before the playoffs they gotta host a preseason game in October is usually when they when those games get played they may have. I have to start on the road for a couple of weeks in preseason Not all that unusual. But but I haven't told that everything is fine It'll all be explained nine. I think this is a lot of construction type talk. That construction people are very.

"This episode is also presented to you by Untuckit so guys the raiders saw a three game win streak snapped by the jets. Now they had interface a divisional rival. AFC West opponent the Kansas City chiefs and a very very very key game right now the chiefs on top of the AFC. West and the raiders. Right under them at six and five so we talked a little bit on Sunday on the podcast about the raiders. Having been humbled by the jets and really trying to realize that they have a lot of things that they need to get clicking on all cylinders. especially if you're going to beat somebody as high octane as these Kansas City chiefs so I'm sure that the mood and sense of urgency. Is there as the team is in Oakland and Alameda preparing being for this game. All right miles you're out in. La Today had a little bit of a drive. But you know when you look at what happened. Here with the raiders and and the kind of became a one dimensional team against the jets. The jets took away the run. Have the raiders been exposed in the sense of. If you take away the run game from them they're gonNA have a struggle. Yeah I think that's kind of the Mo of the team though for the entire season. And I think the if you take away their ranking with Josh Jacobs uh-huh which candy so you have a team with a that is really predicated on the run game and I think a lot of offense is our but this one. I really feel like like more than most is if Josh Jacobs is not rolling then you really gotTa have problems. And so I think the chiefs know that but I think that she's also also know that their run defense has not been very good and you know a few weeks ago when the chiefs played the titans you could see that there are really some ways that this is run defense can be exposed. It's really why the titans were able to win that game that in the fact that they had a can't see that special teams miscues views. But when you're able to see Derrick Henry just get wallowing. If Josh Jacobs can do that then there is a chance that the raiders can go in Kansas City. A place where they have struggled over the last few years not one there since twenty twelve but they can go in there and win the can get Josh Jacobs role. Okay an atom. You're out in Oakland so I mean when we saw this game also another thing that happened was there was a case of the drop sees with the wide receivers What what are we chalk? This up to was it. A chemistry issue was at some just inexperience was at the state of the game. That things just weren't clicking at all for this team or is it something more more than that but I thought it was. I thought it was a game. Where the the raiders You know a couple of weeks All those people that by the way were hitting us it's up in a guaranteed a jets win three different times. You're on this podcast. Going cross country to play the jets and questionable weather. All those things are working against them. But if you're a good team you we'll have to figure those things out you have to go in and it's nude out those kind of adverse conditions. And they just weren't able to do that. This is not like we were kind of old and you know I say we think the general.

"We talked about it after tidy They were three point favorites. But I don't think anyone surprised if the jets would win today. The raiders traveling. I'm from the West. It's attending embodied guy. You know what I mean. The raiders have a lot of flaws at the end of the day. I don't think anyone Vinnie sits there and says oh man. I'm I'm really shot. The raiders lost. I think many nine the Illegi. Heidi we were shot. How they looked like it was really lakes startling? They just were so inept. Dropping passes missing assignments committing penalties missing villa. If you come in here and you lose like we said like he did to the Texans or games like that where you're competitive guy. They lost the game. It kind of hurts their playoff chances. But they're still they're still capable. Man Vinnie the way they lost was just like you walk out of your home will last for themselves after the drop trump dropped passes like you said the missed field goal. And then what I don't think was a roughing the passer that was attack attack right unhappy so the little things like that started to happen. And then it's how you react to what's going on and they didn't react well at all and I think Jon Gruden talked about that about the learning your experience of. Hey it's at Bercy you have to fight through it. They didn't fight through it. And that's the most disturbing thing to me but it's also unfortunately a trait of a young team. That just happens sometimes and maybe this is the wakeup call obey needed. I kind of wrote about that like you know. Probably buying into the hype a little too much with a three game winning streak They probably aren't as good as we assume that they were off about three game winning streak that got proven today and maybe it's a wake up call to just come. I'm correct at least at the very least whether they lose in Kansas City or not. They've also chances are they will dry But you don't WanNa go down you know. Would somebody dropping at fifty hammer on you. Like Dirk are alluded to if they don't correct well they don't and I know you guys will both be there. The forecast right now for next Sunday for the chiefs game five thirty four and snow so they struggled a little here in the little wet year. They they gotta turn that around around and What was the number of Dirk as he is now? Two and nine in it's fifty degrees or below with a quarterback rating of sixty seven. And another number you WANNA consider. Chiefs are coming off a bye. Andy Reid. is the chiefs coaches seventeen in three of a by eight and a half points. It's opened as I think that will probably go up tick right away after. What the raiders? With light today day at a price settled somewhere around nine but They're they're in for challenge. I mean there's no question about that. It's definitely struggled when it comes down to inclement weather and producing using well in it and this is a key game and we were talking to people in the locker room about Kansas City You had spoke with tyrone Williams about it and he said there's no doubt these guys bounceback spat. Max crosby. Same thing is exceeding slow for sleds. What they're gonNA SAY WE'RE GONNA bounce back from when you look at Kansas City and playing hang up in arrowhead and the crowd noise that comes along with bat and just knowing that it's going to be under fifty cardizem do well? You know what I mean gene. How do the raiders go back to the drawing board to prepare for this game will? I'll tell you what you and I were at the urine. I remember the first game this year. Second Week of the season Tyreek Rickie was not with the chiefs that at that point. He was hurt so that that helped the raiders for preparation. That he's able to Hammy in the last game of. They said he could have possibly ladies laugh. Amy's at a week to prepare we. I didn't Tyreek Hill play but if you take away and it's kind of silly even saying this Vinnie. If you take away the nine minute stretch where Mahomes at three touchdown pass linked the raiders. Played them even. She saw the end of the game. He scored while another blow as well. And you can't take the nine minutes way because that's relitigate but for the majority that game like you're the eye test was like they're not that they're not getting dominated night he he was just mahomes for nine minutes. He was magic and they went so if they can somehow look at that film and figure out how they played with them for so long and you know obviously you can't have nine minutes like that. They might be in it again. You know I I wrote about it in the column for tomorrow. There's so many unexplainable cleanable things this. This lost me was really one of those things in sports. You can't explain. We'll explain why they played this way. And you know again not an excuse But there is something to be said about playing teams that you have no real idea about especially with young quarterback that you never played before So who I'm not saying. It's easier to play the chiefs but there are no known better. Yeah yeah they're going to know them better there. Were things that the jets were doing today that you can tell whether it was. We talked about this communication on the back end. And that's lacking right now without lamarcus out there in the quarterback of the whole thing and other youngsters back their injuries and trains that they've had so it's like a rebuilt yep secondary which they expunge exploited that already so many creative things they did that. Maybe they'd saw it on film. Maybe they didn't see it on film if they didn't see it on film distorted a bad job of reacting to it and covering it but that speaks sometimes too inexperienced lack chemistry You know who's WHO's quarterbacking it back there So getting marketing will help a lot of familiarity. I think and there's GonNa be a sense of urgency. It's there's They have their attention on like the jets who were serving unknown. And maybe just stop on the way to some bigger goals. Obviously Chapin fell run on their face. on that yet set. But so I you know I always fight. I WANNA see urgency. I WANNA see fight competitiveness. Not Hanging their heads. When bad things happen I'm At the very least I'm not into moral victories or anything like that but a better showing yes and just kind of show that they're still on the right. Okay so we head into Arrowhead next week for the second of this two game. Road trip raiders. Right now three game winning streak snapped by this lots of the jets again. A final score thirty Ford three can catch everything with greeny and venables annuity on twitter correctly. You Save you save the Yod you say honey. On any other way I lived here in New York for quite a while in had a lot of friends with names that have a bad opera and Theatrical Warner game on the field after zero eight kids Benny on my linebackers take cover to cover three as a young man right spot. This is a forty three out of three hundred under these guys on twitter added Greeny and Vinnie. Bunsen Yoda for all of their work. In keeping.

"This episode Sodas also presented to you by UNTUCKIT. Ed is beside himself right nows. He's watching the cowboys and patriots fourth. Quarter unfold on the final drive here for the cowboys. Sorry what could be the final drive for the cowboys. We are uncertain about that yet because there is still time on the clock but we are going to power through this and talk all about the raiders lost lost to the jets. Thirty forty three the final score in this loss. We talked about a little bit already ourselves. But it was crazy to see see for me Jon Gruden benches Derek Carr in the third quarter when the score was a mean. They're still behind thirty four three. But you're thinking thinking maybe there's a chance maybe they're gonNA try to power through. This may be. They're going to bring out some different things. Make some adjustments. That's not the case. Mike Glennon held the reins at the end of the game. Then he what did you make of John. GRUDEN's call to put their car in the right. Well I've already Golden some people on twitter for actually referring frank to it as a benching. It wasn't eventing. He took them out. Basically for self-preservation. I mean you. Don't WanNa get hurt. That game was out of reach. It's a cold blustery three day. Rainy Day No sense in leaving him in that game which would have been Ab. There's no hope in that game and they also took out there running back Josh Jacob. So right you don't play in the fourth quarter so they didn't get benched. They got protected more than anything else so optimist by nature and. I always think there's a chance there's always a chance. Because there's there's no and there's there's you know the backup quarterback situation with the Oakland riders right now. There's no chance that any of those guys ever ever unseat Derek Carr. So that wasn't a benching. I know that he got pulled from the game. And you Never WanNa get bolt on the game but I am not using bench. That's not a badge. That's why this might say because I can see every point nuts on thinking like that this may be the start third of Gruden doing this pooling more fun games as a starter if he should throw sixes. What happened today? Okay Ed when you look at Carlson side of things and he missed a field goal here. He's done it in the past and the Post Jon Gruden says that you know he's going to talk to everybody involved on that and see what happened. What went wrong? What did you make of his comments about Daniel? Carlson made so we'll get to that. After I looked up your MIC shefty coaching the Patriots agents. Get all these calls. Oh wait I meant jive bill bill and Chester. How can you have tripping when there's no contact anyway and that was a catch with Cooper first of all I I'll say this on car Denise completely right on this you have to protect them any you saw Mike Glennon struggle even take a snap. I know it was raining. You can't have carver Harvard. Give any chance of making a right awhile. Actually they do. But you've got a guy playing bowling ball out with her with the. Footballs the backup. And I'm like this can't be a game of imports. Daniel Carson struggling a little miss the extra pointing. This chargers missed field goal. Dance with three four games. I think he's still a good kick. I think gruden still believes and they've got so many more issues in Daniel Carlson right now I mean today. He missed a GIG but thirty three. I think you'll be fine. He's been did keep updated kicker early on this year I they have a lot more issues. They can't really cover anyone on the back end lamarcus joyner needs to get back on the field. They were horrible in zone today. Giving up underneath routes to Sam darnold was terrific. So I I think I think they'll be okay at kicker maybe they wanNA tell their punter not to tackle people out of bounds and get unnecessary roughness penalties. That's how much buffoonery this thing. Let's say this it was a close loss and they lost because of that kick. What are you? What's your I think? He looks at a lot stronger than you know. When when he says I want to talk to the artists the holder the snapper the kicker I think he should just talk at the special teams coach? Assyrian issue here right. But I think on his mind he probably gets on that plane thing they have a lot more issues than. AM fourteen thirteen game and the kid misses the kick. Even like you pointed out there are some wind wasn't horrible weather but it was very under that something happen open pulled it left and it was from forty three which the distance so went letter that goes to Sam Darnold Pass. That moved the ball. You had mentioned before Sam Darnold. Seeing jobs aren't well I'll say goes. But the raiders. Were Dead on defense. Because I'm telling you he made them look dead. He was. That kid was really good. Sam Darnold Twenty of twenty nine for three three fifteen two touchdowns ran for one. He was really nice. I agree with Vinnie. Vinnie like at the end of games. That this guy's GonNa be really good. Look if you're the jets right now you've won three straight and he scored thirty four points in east coast regains. I don't know if you can make back. They've only won four. It's hard get on a wildcard at this point because the bills are going to get one of the wildcard but looking to next year I mean a month ago it was like fire. You're out of gas. I'm seeing ghosts. She had a bunch of buffoonery in the team. Now it's like there seemed everything seems right in the Dutch land. There's no question about it and There is. There was overreaction earlier in the year obviously Sameness Games because of the modern mono there's many other ways that ah explained to me. So Mono within his first effort with the raiders so so getting back to him and I was at his pro day a a in in southern California and the whole browns contingency was there and I remember writing. I was at the time with Daily News. He just he promised show and I was like he secured the number one pick you know. Why would you look anywhere else? In low mauled. They picked Baker Mayfield instead of Donald. Still think that was a mistake. Nothing against is Baker. Mayfield but we saw today. What a big strong quarterback guy that can make lives with his legs and he came? Yeah and there was. There was wind out there today not affected by in the least protected him. I think gazes actually a pretty good coach. So they're on the right track and the defense to the run against up you can start with. That's that's when you get in the NFL. You can't run the ball right even if you're a really good team out that the raiders are really good team. They're competent. Obviously they have a good rookie running back. He couldn't do anything today would he have Josh. Josh Jacobs I got here. Ten carries thirty four yards. Long fifteen on the sweep but yeah I mean you can't run suggests that's a good starting point and then they put you in you know second and third and longs where you have to throw the ball on. That's where Greg Williams gets all creative And you look at the total of this team is not in a defensive Lineman Edmund. It's your safeties cornerbacks linebackers. That are getting the bulk of sacks. and that's Greg Williams cooking things up and and being creative so there's a lot like about that jet seem. I'm not saying that to excuse anything. That happened with the raiders. Because now they just didn't come correct today and that's a huge issue That's the that's the issue. As far as this episode of Vegas Nation will be right back. The holidays are almost here. And you know what that that means gifts and what better gift to give the guy in your life then a stylish shirt that fits just right..

"This episode is also By untuckit this right now is start at the beginning or a two-game road trip. You for the raiders. The raiders headed into New York. Face adjusts who as we keep saying are not to look past. The raiders are Three Game Win Streak Right now through picking up their third win at home bagels last week before we get into everything here mice atr. Are you doing miles us. I'm Great Heidi. This is fun that we are in three different places right now. You being New York. I'm in Oakland. And Adam is in Las Las Vegas and yet through the magic of the Internet in editing. We are all together as one duty answer out. How are hey? I'm not even GonNa try the as always But now I'm actually at T.. Mobile arena right now getting already four Golden Knights and the sharks. So it'd be. It's a very busy sports weekend here in this first week here in Las Vegas in Oakland in the morning the day right. That was just like a day ago yes the day and would have seen more of the. UNLV game had there up in a travel. Woes of the awful weather here in Las Vegas. So if you guys are around the country listening Dory Vegas is not always perfect. It was a terrible day yesterday. I'm glad you are in good spirits today as we can tell and into the game breakdown. Further bands talk about with the raiders. Did last week against against the bengals. Were a team that I think we. All the raiders will blow cast a seventeen ten win still win in the books but we were talking about the things that the raiders can improve upon what they could have better in that game miles. You've looked at them practice every day this week. Workers you gather from their game planning At what direction are they heading like mentally as his team is preparing for the jets. So I think it's interesting first of all the fact that they did not perform. I think to to their standard against the Cincinnati bengals. It's not like I've seen you guys make a lot of excuses for that. I'm with these. The bengals were tough team. I think the bengals did some things things that were different. Based on the fact that they're playing You know guy like Derek Carr who's more of a stationary quarterback. Then you would have seen them playing somebody like Kylo Murray. Who is a mobile quarterback? Lamar Jackson is another guy. Who is a totally mobile quarterback? So you have to face Derek. Karna different way than you would face those guys so in now we gather Cincinnati. Bengals did some things differently they were able to get after Derek Carr. I thought pretty effectively the pocket and then you saw the raiders. Turn the ball over a couple of times then. I think we said it last week on this podcast. The wave that Cincinnati could have a chance to beat the raiders. would be if the raiders beat themselves if they turn turn the ball over and they did it twice in Cincinnati was able to take advantage of it now at the end of the game. Cincinnati couldn't really do anything. I mean you know it was one of the one of those late game situations nations. The past Bush was effective. They're able to get into the backfield and get to Ryan Finley whose name almost just escaped me there because really. He's as an anonymous quarterback. He's kind of that but I anyway. I think that the raiders now no like okay. They have to have their fundamental short up because they're going against the jets team. That is good forcing turnovers. They've still got one of the better running backs in the league and Levian Bell and they've taken it to some Opponents it's in the last couple of weeks where you could say that they're get right games right. I think from doing against dolphins in in doing the giants and beating the giants and then going against the Washington football team there and eating them as well. You can tell that the jets are on the right path in terms of getting things done now. They haven't been playing that great competition. But the raiders have to still take them seriously for this game so Adam we look at the jets defense miles. There are doing things against the round. They're greedy decent greedy staunch against holding losing closing running backs. Two hundred yards per game. So what do you mean about the jets grants as you look at Ben Against the raiders. The first thing you look at the jets I and I think the fact that they're they're a talented teams if they haven't showed it and the results are younger team That's still trying to improve and get better and certainly. They had a huge setback earlier in the season with saying you know Donald Coming Down with mono somehow as if he was some high school kid which was a weird situation in but he seems to be getting his strength back. I think it was part of when he came back. You're like wow you know. He's not playing well. I think a lot of that. You know illness supposedly Zaps you of your strength and you know it takes a while to get back into it. Feels like he's getting back there but You know defense as we mentioned is really where They succeed and you know I think lately lately it's been even better and Jamal does a big piece of that I think. The Raiders Game Plan based on talking to the guys. And you know kind of hearing them speak this week. the raiders scouting report for the jets. Defense has basically. They've got Jamal Adams and and I think he's gotTa circled and capital letters and everything else out there because of everything that he can do the namic of a playmaker he is how he can attack from so many different levels of the defense There's just so it's so difficult to prepare for guy that does so many things not only in the defensive backfield but also gets after the quarterback and Impacts plays in the running game and everything else that he does. He's a very tough to prepare for and That's GonNa be a huge focus uh-huh rigorous. Let's Talk Raiders Defense. Because this week backs crosby was named the defensive player of the reads where season big spark for this defense. As many of the rookies right now they did. Add a line back here as well Preston Brown of the bengals no less so miles. Miles what do you make of him was might read it achievable is he. Somebody that the raiders have to start right away now. I don't know that he'll start right away but I think the even the most interesting interesting thing that we've gotten out of Preston Brown is the nickname that he jones had together. Yes Adam knows where. I'm going with this so adamant talking to Jones on Wednesday afternoon after practice and so he said that actually in Buffalo. His locker used to be next to Preston Brown's locker and so they had this nickname he ends Zeh. And I believe you can understand. Were that is going right. Yes so I I asked Preston brought about this after Thursday's practice. And he said Yeah. You Know Zeta Jones's Mike Guy. We used to do all kinds of bunny stuff together like like pay pranks or whatever and he said that they did some videos with the for the bills website under the moniker. PB Zeh and I have not as of this recording had a chance wants to go google them myself and look what these videos were but yeah I would expect. It's interesting you know when John Broun was talking about merits of signing signing a guy like Preston Brown in the middle of the season one of the things he talked about was he's one of the he's got these characteristics that you like in the middle linebacker because he's charismatic. You can tell he loves football and he has the kind of ability where you believe he can call signals is basically what I was thinking that Jon Gruden met because he can get after things and you understand where his his charisma pumps from people are going to listen to him and just talking to him in the locker room. I feel that a little bit because he is that kind of guy where you know you come up to him because we're doing our first sort of media scrum with them shakes your hand. You make sure he introduces himself to you as you introduce yourself to him him and he's really willing to talk about things and and you know. I think that he could be a really good piece. For this raiders. Defense moving forward now how much that's going to be for this week against the jets. I'm not sure. He said that he's willing to play special teams to play whatever he has to in order to help the team win. But I think when you're a guy like Preston Brown you've just gotten there. It might take a week or two in order to really get comfortable enough to be on the field as a defensive player. So I guess we'll see okay as S. We look to the jets. Team in the raiders. Coming into New York City of we are going to break down everything that we think is going to happen the game. We're going to give you predictions as well but first. Let's take a break.

"Thing after their bye week the raiders are getting right back into it here we're heading into week seven of the season and the raiders are right now three and two that's good for second in a winning record they got it done against the bears they're heading to green bay where they could get it done against the packers but the packers right now without two key receivers and Davante Adams question I know this is GonNa come to fruition suit as far as disciplinary actions this is a process play civil suit is certainly a much different awed very serious allegations as much different than a criminal case in the process will allow a little bit differently so the bigger question is is he healthy talk about a Catholic shoot that develop Monday I don't know if that's very serious issue or a calf issue that cues them from the media that is for practice we'll find out I guess as the week goes on but as long as you tells you ho-gau joining said yesterday you'll find out more today about where he is health wise I think Adam just put it in very nicely succinctly to this plane I think right now is a case where this is a civil suit and I the difference between that and being criminal case is actually very very significant so you see a lot of time where it is if it's a civil suit it becomes that when these things can get settled out of court that in some ways sometimes prevents the NFL in different teams from actually investigating what exactly happened so I don't know what exactly their affiliations are going to be but as I said at this point for this week if Trent Brown does not play it seems like it would be more injury related than it would be disciplinary related to something that has to do with this well Adam also said unfortunately when he mentioned the main tackle here on that offensive line can or can't go but we did see kind of a good news here with Gabe Jackson seen practice Monday he had suffered a knee injury August eighth when the rams and the raiders had joint practices and we had them seen since in place right back into the starting lineup body reacts to practice in this week the media it's been fairly quick recovery it's about it's about what we voted bieber kind of on the on the shorter end of the recovery process in new helped out with the bye week trying to getting back on the field here he went to practice I think you're gonNA find out after after a couple of practices how does how does he respond how does his body feel it's been awhile since on the field so I think all those things are questions to be answered feels like Johnny ruinous free optimistic back out there and I think that's trending in that direction that's what I would say is in heaven yeah he's healthy in his body feels right after practicing a few days he's absolutely the store he pulled right back into that spot let's get into some of the other injuries here unfurl I saw miles on your twitter that he had been a full participant in Wednesday's practice and we'd speak here on a Thursday he had suffered cussin' dwayne Harris he was limited and also tyrone Williams not seen a practice so are the status right now those players yeah well I think starting with tyrod Williams you get this plantar fasciitis or whatever it is as Jon Gruden put it on Wednesday that does he actually pretty serious for him right now he's not been on the field senses the raiders victory over the Indianapolis Colts and so when you go through the we in London you go through now by week and now you're at out Wednesday of the following week and then he's still not brexit I think that that does mean it is pretty serious so we'll have to see if he was able to get back on the later this week because obviously you need him I'm at that wide receiver spot and then on Cleveland Bureau I think when you see that he's going through the concussion protocol he's been able to get through it because he's a full participant in practice that's good news I think that that means all indications are he will be able to start you will be able to play on this week against Green Bay which again I mean when you get through by week and you hadn't played the week before you have a little bit of time to recover from that concussion so all indications are good on him as furloughs I think he wants to eat out there as quickly CANTU obviously everybody that's entered let's get back out there but he's taken a lot of a lot for kind of his slow started not really Mayton too much with the impact yet not I think you know when you have to hear about that and then you have to be heard if you try to turn that narrative around a little bit well another guy. I'm curious to see on the field at him as somebody that hails from the Buffalo Bills as Jones I saw miles he's a quick steady he's career right now he's got a ninety receptions one thousand thirty seven yards and nine touchdowns what do we expect with his role coming into this week against the packers does he get a lot of Reps Ike how much do we expect to see Jones on the field is not the the raiders receiving core I don't expect tyrod Williams at this point that has been so so long since we even see them on the practice field and they have a lot of mystery going around about his his injury John Kennedy say so that becomes an issue I think Zeke Jones if he's if he's up to speed on the offense in allegations are that he that he is at this point I think he's a guy wanted out there I know we've accents East Carolina who's a second round pick is going to cut talent he showed flashes at times in Buffalo it's a team that I've watched closely in the past. Id so I have some thoughts on on that but you know he he struggled a little bit his first year he had a shoulder issue that really wasn't talked about it on after years kind of disclosed and you've been playing with a pretty severe shoulder injury much of the season last year emerges early receiver Kelvin. Benjamin was the number one going into the year remember that name that's a flash in the past of this year they released Jones became the number one receiver at seven touchdowns he led the team targets catches yards touchdown everything every receiver where he was tops in is really felt a favor this year so he's been inconsistent at times but he's got the talent of his guidance Gaudy numbers in college he's had some games really well and this is you know you you know sword Peterman they were in the same draft class with the buffalo bills two thousand seventeen new Peterman yesterday about how how happy for Jones a fresh start in insert over a little bit Get to a place where he can thrive in many said hey is really good to fill that role so they need somebody to be the lizzy Jones the guy that comes in you know since the world on fire but Liza capable guy aim because I got tyrone Williams it's a sixteen I mean it's a wide receivers like spot spots psycho hold six receivers it's a deeply impacts have of because car only likes to throw to their waller and we kinda yesterday do all right we'll work on that right now what we're going to do is go ahead and step away for a minute and get todd doing here talk some betting numbers for weeks Evan in the NFL so when we return we're going to break down this game in Green Bay stay tune this episode of Vegas Nation will be right back aw. "Up today and get. Did you sign up bonus of up to fifty dollars so miles you were out yesterday when the raiders spoke and Richie Incognito spoke about his return what kind of fiber you getting from the raiders about his return. How excited is Jon Gruden specifically about him getting back on this online yeah I think that they are pretty excited to have him back. I it's interesting because Jordan Debbie did not play poorly at left guard while Richie incognito needed was out but at the same time you want your pro bowl left guard to be back. It was interesting talking to Richie Incognito. Yesterday I think I just from the standpoint he is somebody that has obviously gone through a wad of off the field issues and you can look at his summer of twenty eighteen and that'll tell you like there was some wild things join on their but I think now what he was saying in the locker room yesterday's they he feels like it's good to have everything behind and he's excited to attack what's next in his eyes are only looking forward and so from that standpoint yeah it's great to have him back and I think that really really their biggest goal is going to be candy integrate him back into offense seamlessly especially when you're going up against the Minnesota Likings defense that is extremely good and they're gonna be even better playing at US Bank stadium which I don't know if you guys have ever been there but that place is really you really loud. It's tough really tough offenses to communicate. Are they still killing birds up there all the time. I don't know that's a good question. I it's so I have been to that stadium a couple of times once in the preseason in two thousand sixteen I think when are just open and then in two thousand seventeen the rams played of the Vikings of bear in the I'll tell you what man like it is so loud. It's one of those places we're because the press box is open. You can't necessarily hear yourself think saw oh like as a journalist like that's kind of weird but as a player it's even harder because you can't really communicate the way you're not used to doing it so it's very hostile environment for all offenses players you but who cares what about the. Wi Fi the wifi works the Wifi is yeah yeah. I know well. I mean inside baseball began the first couple of times he'd been in the Oakland Coliseum this year. The WIFI really hasn't worked so that's been a real hardship for us. Everybody feel bad bad for US Hashtag. I should be clearly killing. Birds was not like some ritualistic sacrifice going on in Minnesota not a ritualistic Viking sacrificed. No it's a they made it to stay very bright. no stadium in the birds were trying to land on his flying right into it. It was a disaster at the beginning but I'm not I think they did something to try to fix it so hopefully bird graveyard hanging out there. I have a report here that says February I twenty eighteen that forty eighty two birds on average per season have died heading into Minneapolis as deadliest building yeah yeah so that's a pretty crazy stat and the raiders are putting the same kind of out outdoor mirroring on their stadium so let's hope that doesn't your if you roof roof they will they've got it. They're going to have it in the stadium allegiant stadium. I should say and it also it's so fi stadium in Los Angeles so we'll see it turns out birds. I pray for the birds but let's talk a little bit more about this old line as of this week when it started out on Monday. We're getting reports. Ports like Gabe Jackson could be on his way back a right guard here for the raiders how Kiewit his return to this offensive line. It's going to be huge. You know when they when they get them back. It's it's going to be really really good for them and I think just in terms of seeing the line that they thought that they had constructed. I mean last year was a real weak spot for them. out on the offensive line and they did so much invested so much in the line they brought in in new pieces. Obviously they paid brown a lot of money. they've got you know. Richie incognito in who they were hoping would turn back the clock a little bit they thought that they'd get a whole lot of improvement of cult Miller which they have I mean he's been much much better than he was last year but you know putting all these pieces together and finding out exactly where they were and then all of a sudden you losing cognitive for the Games you lose gave Jackson to injury once he gets back and you can start to see the line that they wanted to have built a that they put money into constructing that is going to I think it's GonNa Change Dynamic of the team but it's also going to tell the team exactly where they stand from an offensive line perspective attractive and and I think that's a lot of what this season is about to but they wanna see those guys work together. They want to see Brown and Jackson Rodney Hudson kind of work together on that side and see what they can do for Josh Jacobs Upfront so I think it's going to be a big step forward like it's not it's not gonNA. Change my outlook of where this team is going to be at the end of the year but I think that they absolutely want to see how that unit functions together and they've been able to do that and miles for you as we look at what's going on outside in the NFL. There's a lot of talk about Jalen Ramsey. jalen Ramsey has been asking for trade the raiders keep coming up in outside kind of rumors and things swirling about about what would it take for the raiders to get Jalen Ramsey on this team and do you think it's something that the team is actually looking to do. I think you have to be you have to explore it right. This is a guy who has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league since he entered the league and you know he even said that he has interest in playing in Las Vegas You didn't necessarily say he wants to play for the raiders. He said he wants to play in Vegas because there's no state income tax. They are which community that's a smart business. Move I suppose but I think from Saint Win of the fact that the raiders have more than one first round pick on the have the bears first round picking their own first round pick heading into twenty twenty in the draft their day could use that draft capital and Gocha Jalen title Ramsey if they wanted to now the other thing that you have to probably do is negotiate contract extension because you're not you don't want to treat a first round pick for for somebody. WHO's just GONNA Walk Right. You have to be able to Siamak guy to a contract extension so I think it's something that they definitely are exploring. All reports have been that in I. I think that it makes a lot of sense for them to explore it. Will they actually get it done. I don't necessarily know if the Jacksonville Jaguars. Why do you WANNA trade somebody to Jalen Ramsey to somebody. Who still in the conference? I don't know that you would necessarily want to do that but you you might non depending on if the price is right so. I think it depends on a whole lot of factors whether or not the reas could actually get something like this done but I think that if they really were motivated to the he could I mean if you get two first round picks that would explain why you would and that's what the theoretically the asking price right now is to first round picks for Jalen Ramsey now now I think what you'd have to deal with and I don't think the raiders care about backlash in those sorts of things but essentially you wouldn't keep Khalil Mack and signed him to an extension but you're gonNA assigned Jalen Ramsey Ramsey too what will be a similar extension and then just give the picks back that you acquired for Khalil Mack. You're kind of just right back where you started in a sense now. Jalen Ramsey is a guy that changes the complexion of a franchise the guy that you can just lock down on one side of the field and use the rest of the ten guys to cover everybody else. he is an elite talent he also has had issues in Jacksonville and listen in this latest one. I blame Doug Doug marrone. I blame Doug marrone grown for a lot of it. I've experienced the full you know. Doug Marrone Hato roller coaster ride up in Buffalo Bills Fan yes and I I would if there's a there's a problem between those two. I know who I put the blame on but at the same time you know that he has been disruptive at at certain times throughout his career so is that the kind of guy you want to bring your locker room. I would say absolutely yes because of how well he can play but you're right. It's another. He has another year in his contract. They the exercise that option that thirteen seven for next year after that is an unrestricted free agents. You'RE GONNA trade for him. It's also going to require extension and it's going to be a massive extension for Jalen Ramsey so there's lots of way. Does he make you a much better team this year. I don't know I don't know how many wins can help add but if you're looking at two three years from now when you're looking to compete he is he's a franchise changing type of player so that's what you have to weigh when you start looking at him and again as you mentioned he he throughout. Vegas on a podcast Rod cast like the Plane Vegas. The tax structure is going to be very nice so there certainly could be some interest there. I just don't know if they're going to give up. Two first round picks to do it. If that remains the asking price yeah I think you would at least have to do one first round pick miles. I like how you're getting to know Adam yeah because you said former bills fan so it's a little over month and you the guy already let's get into this game breakdown of the Vikings and the raiders the raiders again visiting US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis and right right now when you look at this matchup. I think we could be something that's problematic for the raiders is Dolphin Cook. The guy has been an absolute beast two hundred within sixty five rushing yards as of right now three touchdowns. I mean he is somebody that could really chew up the clock. He could chew up the time of Possession Listen I. I think that he's one of those guys as a running back. That's difficult to to stop what do you make of the raiders defense and taking on the Minnesota Soda Vikings and particularly in Dolphin Cook Miles well. I think that Delvin Cook is going to be a problem. The what's interesting though right now it's kind of strength on strength last week you saw the the raiders held the Kansas City chiefs really any washing guards right in day weren't getting anything whether was Damian Williams Shawn McCoy. Did it a really really good job of just stopping the run and you know didn't Patrick Mahomes Patrick mahomes things but at the same time I mean look the rid of excuse me the chiefs in score any points in the second half and while guests near the British right but I think if you're looking at Minnesota you have to start with stopping the run and then maybe after that so you can get to kirk cousins and cousin's tendency to make mistakes now when Kirk cousins is hot he is hot and streaky and he can make really really good throws in. He's got two very good wide receivers in Adam dealing and Stefan digs. You can catch the ball and then also great tight end..

"And get a new sign up bonus of up to fifty dollars had a a lot of siblings and the way my mom used to do things was she'd make us go sit it out for like an hour and then she come grab us and then we'd have to face to face to each other and look each other in the eye okay and then like say exactly what we were sorry for and how we were going to improve things okay so in this case like how does antonio brown go to mike. May i look him in the eye this happen i mean is there any way that this can be repaired. What do you think out him. I don't know i mean yes. Six could be repaired. I think things can always be repaired. The problem that they have it is if you let this go and if you tony brown fly and you guys have talked to other people i've talked. That's about it as well. I mean you've now just turned the team loose to do whatever they want to do. Like you. Literally can get into confrontation with your boss. <hes> scream at him. Say say whatever you want and then punt a ball and say find me for vat which by the way. I don't know how trademarks work but i'm claiming the trademark on that right now because i want to sell t-shirts. Yes this on the podcast right. Now i think qualifies as a as copywriting that but <hes> i mean if you if you do that added nothing happens then it just it's. It's a free frost everybody else so i think it does become an issue now. The other thing i heard people discussing today and i mean this. Let's say even worse example is if it is now antonio brown or mike mayock and the raiders organization chooses antonio brown. I mean that's that would be an even worse president. You could possibly choose. I i can see that possibly happening <hes> but listen. It's it's a really really difficult all spa. They put themselves in <hes> it was you know made even worse by the fact that they tried to play good cop bad cop all you know all all season long with antonio brown brown and that may i was gonna come down hard on him and gruner was gonna let him do it every wanted <hes> and that seems do not work either because now gruden today <hes> seem to finally be frustrated that his wits end with everything so <hes> they've let it get to this point and it sucks that they're in this position but they let it get here and <hes> the last thing i starting to say this at the beginning and i got of of course <hes> as i often do but <hes> you go you go into the season with antonio brown if you if you allow this to happen you allow him to play whatever whatever you do suspend them half or whatever they're going to try to do and try to repair the the situation <hes>. It's very very possible and i know that they have higher expectations but it's incredibly possible that they're one in six to start the season. In fact i think on the on the sports book odds board. I think that's the expectation right now that they're going to be one in six in their first seven games. I think they're underdogs in six of the game so <hes> if you allow them tony around the stay and don't do much. How much worse is it going to be when they're one in six. I mean that would be <hes> that would just be a recipe for absolute disaster at that point and this recipe right now is just spelling distraction and so when you look at this team. How do they regroup. Get into the right mindset to go face the denver broncos on monday because that's something that's a head. It's something and they have to do. I think adam you were talking about the numbers. It was pick him when the week started and now i believe the broncos are favored by two and a half. I want to say so wh the make adam just to follow up start. Oh sorry to cut you off because now they're owned thorough in seven then because i think that was the one game <hes> that they were looking at as possibly being a win it so. I don't think there'll be any of their first seven games. Wow all right so there's the numbers on that but yeah okay. How does this team regroup miles. What do they do to get. They're frame of mind right. How big of a distraction is this. When you're heading into the first game of the season trying to prove that you can become this winning culture when the lead the main star this team is causing all this drama well. I think part of it is they're used to practicing without antonio brown right think about all the training camp practices that the didn't have antonio brown for it and that's basically all of them so we're talking about the team drills and everything like that. It's in some ways and not quite similar but go with me here right like andrew lock right. We know that he just retired but at the same time jacoby bruce sets been the one who's been taking all of the reps as the first in quarterback since the spring now. It's not necessarily the same kind of deal with antonio brown but you know the amazon echo brown was not there for every single off season. Practice is certainly was not there for most of all the training camp practices especially when they're doing teams so they they'd been really preparing to not have antonio brown the entire time so in that way. This isn't very much traction. Antonio brown was kind of like ah bonus that you're going to add when you started game planning and then you would see wow this guy really can take us all to the next level so in that way i mean yeah. Would you rather have antonio brown absolutely but are you really up a creek without a paddle without antonio brown in terms of offensive scheme and things like that. I think there's no now again. He's still one of the best receivers in the n._f._l. So he's not gonna floyd that yeah. That's going to hurt their chances of winning but again like they. They know how to game plan without adam okay. So what are the keys to this game miles. Give me the main objective. The raiders need to accomplish to be able to put a w here in their win. Column don't get there are killed. <hes> trent brown colt miller have to be stout at the tackle positions because they have to you really really really good rushers in von miller who's on track to become hall of famer and then bradley chubb who played really well also as a rookie fortunately trent brown at right tackles the one that's going to be going up against von miller at least if we are to believe all the things that have happened in the past are going to happen in the future of von miller usually rushes over the right tackle right so that's going to be trent brown and trent brown probably as offensive lineman on xtra lease on the extra rodney hudson. I guess we give him a good run for his money with that but colton miller is going to have his hands will probably with bradley challenge wasn't colton miller struggled throughout in his rookie season especially when his knee injury continued to get worse so you hope he's healthy <hes> because that's going to be key right if they i can go out there in protect derek carr and give him the time to find open receivers who aren't named antonio brown and also can get push affront to allow josh jacobs. Have those good running lanes then. They're going to be in pretty decent shape. At least. I don't believe very much in joe. Flacco joe echoes not lied to me and i also think wacky things tend to happen in week one especially in that second monday night football game so at this point i almost would still pick the raiders to win win. Why hedge i would still pick the raiders to win. This game is going to be tough yeah. I can definitely see the uphill battle. I think you're right about joe flock. Oh i think we see a lot from clean feral coming off the edge and rushing in there but it's a matter like you said if they're offensive line the battle of wills and design plays low. I think that gunther showed us in the preseason. He has a nice little set. There is some exotic blitzes so i'm looking forward to seeing what happens is in regular season as we know preseason. It's not always what you see so adam. Witty think is a key here for the raiders to get a w. Come monday night i mean i think it's going to be the defense coming together. <hes> quicker than it's expected to. I mean they added a lot of good pieces and i think there's a lot more talent than there was. Last year. I think schematically there a ton better than they were last year and i think the defense by the end of the season could be pretty good but i i think they're key to getting awareness to to find a way to put something together. Defensively i think even with without antonio brown even with the problems on the interior of the office of mind with injuries and suspension in jacksonville cognitive <hes> of those things i i think the offense is going to be a pretty decent at least good enough to win. It's whether the defense can can find find a way to get that cohesion quickly and <hes> and put together a good performance and i think you know starting off the last season <hes> at the coliseum having having a late night monday night you know those fans are gonna be crazy and rowdy and have all day to drink before seven thirty kickoff or whatever time it starts <hes>. It's it's going to be nuts there. So so i mean i think there's a lot of factors going in the favor of the raiders <hes> if you'd kind of throw out this distraction of the antonio brown situation <hes> i think there's a lot of good things work in their direction but it's going to be on the defense to try to win this game and i think there might be some offset downs the hiccups along the way <hes> fitting all those new pieces together and you know and implementing what they wanna do defensively but <hes> i think they can do enough to get this win because <hes> look through the next six games and it's tough to find anymore he i have to i agree with you and this is going to be a very tough game so let's go ahead. We already have miles is a prediction. Is that the official prediction for you miles that the raiders will lose thir first game at home. I said they were gonna win night. High bad my bad listen you. You're you're such a hater and pay this year hi. I'm everybody's gonna pay hike in the city. I haven't shuki dole sent to me and now you're just messing up my prediction now on my bad i bad everybody's gonna pay okay so but here is to adam. Find me for that. Dot com is actually available domain so if you want to you know get it some back miles. Go ahead and add up before adam can get to it. I'm just going to play the role instigator. How about that in your the mic mac to my income though so you could put either find me with a number four or find me spell the word for that dot com either ones.

"Sign up today and get a new site sided with up to fifty dollars all right well. Let's get into the game you brought up keelan doc- had a big game fifty two yards for him. I there's there's a lot of guys that i saw jon gruden after the game talking in the locker room saying the august thirty first is going to be very difficult for them getting down to that fifty eighty three man roster obviously this game. We gotta look at a lot of different people who may be on that bubble people like marcel. Eight-man people like up here smell fennell keelan. Dos <hes> what do you think as far as results helped out anybody's case tonight who was the big standout boy i think it was dos and i think it is mainly because he continues to catch the ball right and i wanted to write about more of the wide receivers verse but an original story was going to be but as the game kept going on you kept seeing drops i mean jon gruden pointed out in his press conference. He said that they're probably two touchdown. Touchdown passes that nate peterman had than being dropped so when you keep seeing that it's like man who is actually continuing to make plays an is keen dos right that that seventeen yard grabby head on the right side line which was probably a throw that was a little bit underthrown by peterman when he goes back grabs <hes> pity key taps the toes and then he goes out of bounce. Those are things a professional wide receivers. Do those are the kinds of things that you say all right. We know that we can utilize as your skill set at this level so that's what they have to keep looking for right and when you're seeing guys just go down with field and sometimes it catches just sometimes they don't yes. They're going to have some maybe difficult decisions to make when you drop the ball and makes it easier all right. We have to get out of this. Quarterback battle is is it going to be nathan peterman or is it going to be mike. Glennon glennon was pulled after just i think nine attempts and four completions thirty eight yards then we had nathan peterman come in in and play the majority of the game after that it was about what mid second quarter i think that <hes> peterman came into the game so when you had the look that we had last week at glennon and then and this week you get more of a look at peterman who between these two is separating themselves as who is going to be that backup for derek carr adam well. I think both it's going to be on the team. I i get the feeling that grew has kept three in the past they kept to last year. I think he wants to keep three a lot of that will determine some of these other positions like who they need to keep deep. If guys are making pushes for the roster and i know one of the things that drew and talked about tonight is potentially five undrafted guys making the roster all of a sudden. You have to start considering. Do you keep dan but i think right now. They're really comfortable with glennon as number two but i think gruden's very intrigued by peterman potential and i don't think to let him go <hes>. I don't know if he believes leaves if they let him go they could. They could keep him around down the road so something tells me he's much more comfortable with glennon right now if they need to go to somebody but he wants that beat him around and he'll keep three other oscar and that's how i feel that they're gonna shake out quarterback camp. It was interesting. I mean gruden was asked after the game basically when he said we we'd seen enough from london so that's why we didn't necessarily need to have him play more than one quarter so he was asked after the game does that mean gene that you've made a decision there and go on not gonna get into that but he did say they really like blunt and and he continues to say he likes nathan peterman. He really really liked what he was able to do. Leading the team down the field for that in two minute drill so that they can kick the game winning field goal so i tend to agree with you adam. I think you know you ever see that old. El paso commercial with the little girl and the tacos and she's like board games does the john curtin and the two quarterbacks okay so the raiders pull out this win three no now in the preseason twenty to twenty twenty one final score and daniel carlson hits all three of his field goal. The last one is eight seconds remaining to put the raiders up when you're talking about morale and team building and that this team is trying to grow its culture. How big is this for the raiders right now as they head into their final preseason game against the seahawks. I'll let you asked this but i'm going to say zero. Just turn it over to mile. I i absolutely agree. I you know what is weird like. I cover teams. I always think man. It's probably good to get a loss in there in the preseason because when you go undefeated in the preseason usually you're going to be bad. Remember the owens sixteen sixteen lions or the own sixteen browns or knowing the preseason now you can also point two teams like i think the raiders had have some kind of strange preseason winning streak going on that somehow got to continue tonight because their game dot like terminated because of inclement weather uh-huh sixteenth win in a row in the preseason that's insane. That's so strange so like they're the outlier but i don't think wins and losses to me. Don't matter in the this is i. I like ingrained can get excited. You know it's better to win than it is to lose sure but at the end of the day you win. If you don't have any injuries in your game and you know tonight for the raiders they really didn't play anybody of consequence in. They didn't really have anybody go down. The green bay packers did so tonight tonight whether came out on top of the store or not you want and the one thing the only thing that i think is mattered in the preseason is that defense was so bad last year and listen tonight. It was a very weird game in the packers. Were you know packers didn't play anybody. They didn't even dress thirty three guys right before the game started because the field like they were playing anything in the raiders didn't have really i started out there but i look at last week. The way that their first team defense played in listen arizona's work-in-progress they blitzed and arizona didn't expect it like there was a lot of things that went their way but i think they're building some confidence in the preseason as far as their defense not being historically bad and i think that is the only thing you can take away and say okay look. We know there's more talent on the defense. They're actually performing on the field. They're getting more comfortable in paul gutters defense so there's progress being made in confidence being built there but for the most part the end result nothing that that kick going through the uprights of the game meant nothing nothing at all anything no honestly okay so. It's a high pressure situation well high high pressure. We came up with that but you have coal as your holder and you got your long snapper and now you've got carlson as is your kicker that battery it is a whole as a little bit important to make sure that you can get that right but other than that i mean it's is very inconsequential but i think thank you know as you mentioned. Defense is better six sacks in the last two games. That's not bad yeah. It's almost not what they had last season in fact civil actually funny. I asked gruden about that. After the game he said we challenged them at halftime because debt green bay was able to go up and down the field because weren't getting anything with a rush so challenge them at halftime. They came out and they performed better in the airport. That's it's good and it's great that you have this insight because as you are down in the field in winnipeg <hes> after the game did anybody happened to bring up the name antonio brown. Did anything come of that name from <hes> was he there. Did he run some practice reps. I did see him. I think actually on the sideline they show him shaking some hands with some fans any news about him and this helmet grievance that goes ozan tomorrow no news in particular he was there. Yes he also was wearing a helmet during pregame warmups. I do not know exactly exactly what kind of helmet that was that he was wearing a helmet. He was also very excited. <hes> when daniel carlson game winning field goal went through are running down the sideline that was nice to see gene so he was there. The only times named up brought a post game was when a reporter asked jon gruden about you know the distractions of the entire her off at training camp. You know basically all of august you know you are not you had the weirdness of traveling the winnipeg and kind of unprompted jon gruden brought up tonio brown's name in ceylon tonio brown here and he's fine la la la and i'm not talking about anymore. Extractions intially five undrafted rookies who might make this team so i was like okay well. Nobody really asked us simply about antonio brown but you brought up antonio brown all right so we can keep up with that story and you guys well on vegas nation dot com. That'll do it for us today. We've got to let him go right now because he's in winnipeg. He's got to enjoy himself yeah yeah. It's got so much out there from what i understand. We're going to go get some room service and go to sleep. Come on my take up room. Service is already close nan. Oh that's most of them close around route ten o'clock the tim hortons. That's the only miles ago find himself tim hortons but you can find him on twitter at miles a simmons adam adam hill l._v. r._j. "I hate losing more than anything and and and I work my tail off man to make sure that Our city our fans our team our coaches and all that can just enjoy win and so men sitting here at one and seven eighths sucks but nothing is going to stop until I see the other side of it and great commander the system and defensively they're fiscal men good football team what football fans it's time for another episode of Megan's name Russian your podcasters concert by local southern Nevada Toyota dealers I'm your host Heidi Fang joined also with Michael Belkin are raiders beat writer whose out in Oakland this week waiting for the home return of the raiders who just got off the battle the bay loss to the forty niners again we talked about that in last Week's episode and this week they will close out their season series with the chargers this Sunday in Oakland the La chargers are now six into in the year and looking to extend that win streak to six they just recently came off a win over the Seahawks so another big game here for Oakland divisional game but for right now I think it means more obviously to the chargers who are second in the AFC West Oakland still hanging on the autumn wrong at one in seven these seems last week five and it was a twenty six to ten victory for the chargers and now they're looking to move into Oakland Wissam St behind him so we're GONNA get into that we're also going to talk with Gilbert Manzano who's here he's going to give us kind of his on the clock look at what could become the Peter's draft we're going to bring that in weekly and talk about different players that could make a good fit for the raiders in the coming draft of twenty nineteen we're also going to hear from Eddie van der does defensive tackle who last year tore his acl he's on the Comeback Path and we're going to hear his story and what it's going to take for him on this recovery mission and how he spent this year on the publicity with the raiders and what his comeback path will be like so we will hear from him a little bit later here in the show but again let me reintroduce Michael Belkin you can find him on twitter at Gilpin NFL working to get right into it here breaking down this chargers Gotcha for Oakland Michael this has been another crazy week for the raiders this week they release Bruce Irvin the offensive line still samples were wondering what the status is of some of the players there what can you tell us about what's happened here with Bruce Irvin and most importantly who's going to step into his shoes at defensive end for the raiders or first of all the timing of the move was not ideal. I was in a movie theater watching Lady Gaga Bradley Cooper Film Ran The news arose I was in I was trying to do my best to pay attention to my phone and I had a text I Gilbert and see if you could help me out thousands of pension I wanted it I needed to know how the movie was GonNa End so the timing wasn't great but timing though wasn't I may refer me but I think it was great for Bruce Irvin because now he gets the finish out this season with his hometown team the Lanta salkin now he gets to join a foreign four squad certainly a contender and he also gets more money out of it the raiders still oh Bruce Irvin the remaining portion of eight million dollar salary for two thousand eighteen which amounts to about three point eight roughly million dollars the lesson met and so he still gets that money on top of what the Atlanta Falcons are playing him for the final half of the season so all in all great timing to be Bruce even he ran onto the practice field this week with the Falcons and said something along the lines of I'm free I'm free as quoted by reporters on scene so he really happy to be out of the one seven abyss that is the two thousand eighteen Oakland raiders and so good for him and it I think was probably the best thing you could argue for the raiders as well when he was only playing nine defensive snaps I believe on Thursday evening against the San Francisco Forty niners are aw they want guys who can just have the right mindset going into the final half of the season everyone in the building knows what it is it's a bit of a Filler I want to develop your your young talents of filler given out of it until next offseason when they really can address the roster and so deserving this career to be writing through that I just don't know if he was built to handle that emotionally I probably wouldn't have been a positive situation for the locker room so I think it was the right timing for everybody not named Michael Milkin now it's unfortunate how was the movie the and what you're able to focus on with it I've heard nothing but great things about this flick it was good it was good stars born I would recommend it I would just say I without being more detailed after saying this it's one of those movies that you walk Abbas Theater and it sticks with you for a while for better for worse it's just it's really well done yeah so that's that's that I have never seen a star is born not in any way uh and none of those movies so for me this would be a new experience if I were to go but I appreciate the tip on that just in case I plan on going but I know this week on November fifth. Actually the raiders did signed Smith HE I don't think he's really gonNA come in and play ought to get into a role like you mentioned Bruce Irvin was rotating in there with the other defensive ends so I don't know where does he fit in if at all immediately as a plug in for this defense unclear whether he'll be active on Sunday against the chargers between hand and Kony ealy you know these are guys that the raiders brought in to involve their defense is is atrocious certainly from a pass rush standpoint they're the worst pass rush that pro football focus has ever documented on film which goes back x several years they had four sacks or pardon me that to sex in their lone win of the season against the Cleveland Brown on September thirtieth they haven't had multiple sacks in any of their seven losses and because of that I think they had four takeaways in that same game against the Cleveland Browns they've had to take aways combined in their other seven games those losses and so the aren't getting enough pressure they're not forcing take away as the offense had awful field position pretty much all season and so if you can find some veterans even though they've you're signing him off the street and I think people's expectations should be adjusted accordingly. Maybe one of those guys surprises improved player for you it's it wouldn't be surprised if neither do a given that they have a lot to prove you know they've been passed over and this league guys have had workouts of other teens and just not gotten opportunity of the raiders are willing to get the one so you know they have the you know somewhat stereotypical you know so so to speak chip on their shoulder they'll have that and they looked to show that they belong in this league this is their opportunity where the final eight games of these Games mean a lot to them in their careers I would absolutely think it would especially going against it visual opponent these two teams the chargers on the raiders have met up I believe a hundred eighteen times I think that's the most of any opponent that they've had I and meeting Wise One hundred eighteen times at the chargers right now under Anthony Lynn this is like their best start since two thousand six again second place in the if see west the offense is ranked at eighth right now in the NFL you have studs like Keenan Allen who has six hundred thirty receiving yards Kevin Gordon Right now at eight hundred and sixty eight scrimmage yards for the team and of course Philip rivers at the helm man he is sharper than ever this year so we're the raiders this is going to be a really important game for them to try to make a stand to try to show something give a spark to this team I don't know where they're going to muster it from but I think they definitely in this kind of a situation need to try to come out just guns blazing like you mentioned in the Cleveland Gain Michael That was one of the Games where we could see that you could see there was a sense of urgency but it's really not been there I haven't seen that spark as much in recent games and I wonder where they're going to get it you're they're embedded on a we a two week basis you talked about how reserve leaving the field saying I'm free I'm free I mean what's the team's response been to that if at all if you've been able to speak to any of the the raiders about that departure and also you know where do you think that extra push is going to come from in this game who has that spark I've spoken a little bit the players regarding Bruce Irvin and this is not the First Defensive Co captain that they've seen go out the door Dirk Johnson was least as well and so I think they're almost use with almost numb to it but I think they're all genuinely happy for Bruce that he got out of the locker room and that he's got a chance at this stage in his career you know like a virgin as to why they haven't gotten off too fast arts and Games are Venal close at opponents winning I just younger talented on defense it's critical spots on offense their offense align is dismissed so banged up I don't want to I think it's just been a lack of can-do and so Coaching staff wants to win locked room wants to win they feel urgency but it's one thing to feel something that's quite another to be able to go out and execute and if there are mental breakdowns at times the breakdown have been physical so it's been something of a cataclysmic breakdown as to why the raiders are sitting here out one in seven now in come the chargers presuming the air quality doesn't prove to be an issue in this game gets off right on time as planned and I mentioned this we're talking on a Thursday and the air quality was deemed to be unhealthy by the Environmental Protection Agency as a raiders. Were practising on this afternoon so we'll just see you and your last year when the chargers came into town air quality was one of the bigger talking points were the NFL was considering having the game be relocated a to Dallas ours was Arlington that the Dallas Cowboys. At and T..

"With this business I'll never forget James Jones Marcel Rec- would cut Justin Tuck They would always tell me you gotta bring all the time because this league they will Google not gonNa make excuses about the injuries on the line but those are very difficult to overcome the kinds that we had tonight but defensive we we gotta find a way start getting better everyone welcome to the Vegas Nation podcast brought to you by your local southern Nevada Toyota dealers I'm your host Heidi Fang join today Hey with our raiders beat writer Michael Belkin who still over in Oakland I on the other hand left Santa Clara got back here to Vegas and we are going going to talk everything raiders against the forty niners what a brutal loss for the team taking on the forty niners third string quarterback ed unable to make stops when it counted tons of big plays led to the final score thirty four to three for the raiders and what a hard loss to suffer the battle of the bay falling to one in seven now last in the AFC west Lots of what we heard from Gruden and car was about trying to keep things together trying to keep the morale of the team positive and Gruden discussing the injuries yet again the troubles that they've had on the offensive line just something that the right now it's a hunter and a hurdle that they're unable to get past we saw Colin Miller fault injury he did return to the game briefly but then again was pulled out Michael What is the status of this offense of line and just the sham calls that has been left in as of late within been unbelievable problem all season and when you look at the raiders and their struggles at times the offense hasn't been among them because it had protection because Derek Carr is getting the ball his hands quickly we've seen some positive moments as recently as Sunday against any apple's colts raiders did not lose that game because of a lack of efficiency on offense but on Thursday night in Santa Clara. very I drive tackle Colton Miller who suffered a right knee injury I on September thirtieth week four against the Cleveland browns suffers the right knee injury again unclear if it's related exactly in terms of diagnosis to the great to MC MC L. Sprain he suffered initially the more than a month ago but it was enough as you mentioned to force him out of action the entire second half he was on the bench ruled out he did reenter with a hefty brace but he wasn't able to really plant in that leg and it caused problems for Derek Carr in protection that might be enough to have your left tackle be rendered available or limited for essentially three quarters plus of a game but that wasn't all that happened for the raiders right tackle Brandon Parker other rookie this one two third round draft pick he had a false start he had holding any allowed to sack all in the offense is I two series the Game Tom Cable had enough he told Brennan Parker to relax. You're just trying to make too much happened you're too energetic to hyped up so he went ahead and put in Silberman into a game silberman someone who was with the raiders in training camp and not make their initial fifty three man roster has been inactive healthy scratch while the bulk of his time since he was resigned last month he steps into action at right tackle by the end of this game you've also play left tackle assembly the teams probe left guard who appeared in the game for the first time since September thirtieth he aggravated apparently a right knee injury that happened after already moved from left guard to left tackle and so all of this was to say that it was a mess Derek Carr was sacked four times as a career high over the course of the game raiders allow eight sacks agent Karen was down once in the fourth quarter the forty niners sacked the raiders more times than raiders have sacked opposing quarterbacks all season the raiders have seven quarterback sacks in two thousand eighteen again the niners on Thursday night at eight of them and that being a huge problem the protection again you bring that up car was I guess the best word is benched in the fourth quarter or sat in favor of Jay McCarron just because at that point they said okay there's thirty I think there is thirty four points up at the time and then you have a missed field goal her late in the second half and at that point they go for it on their next drive I believe and they have a turnover on downs it was just pointless I think for them to have even put car into any more danger. He's somebody that you want as your franchise quarterback to preserve for the coming seasons you definitely don't want to put him into harm's way when it's unnecessary but at the same time I think Raider fans want to see and fight out of the team at something their car keeps alluding to saying that you never quit we always put our best foot forward you always fight to the end but yet in the in the fourth quarter were saying let's take care of our quarterback let's put him on the sideline let's bring in Aj mccaren have them hand off the ball run the clock down and you know maybe we get a first down out of this maybe we don't but at the same time you have on the other side Nick mullins just having a field day because as you mentioned the the defense for the raiders hasn't been able to make stops they got he has a two hundred sixty two passing yards three touchdown day pretty clean day for somebody making in fact I think one of the best starts that we've seen in a replacement quarterback for the forty niners you had though some guys breaking off huge plays like George kittle going seventy nine yard reception on a play We had James with a fifty three yard catch and run before halftime big huge plays that the raiders can't afford to give up but yet as Jon Gruden said in the Post we can't find a way to stop the bleeding and Reggie Nelson spoke about that in the locker.

"Welcome to our biggest nation podcast we're here for all raider nations who talks over black as always we have Richard writer Michael Milkin calling in from addicted in the win their first two games to sit in that too but that's neither here nor there let's go ahead and get to what you guys ready let's all right let's make it happen well Michael. off the top since you're the man the myth legend the guy who's at all of the practices and the press conferences and everything else what is the biggest news that everyone needs to know as far as concerned with the raiders right now wasn't like huge Newsweek for the raiders certainly relative to previous weeks there wasn't some major Steininger like any of the two defensive linemen the raiders broaden last week or wide receiver Martavis Bryant goes a bit quieter on the transaction wire but I think this can be construed as news we're getting greater clarity in terms of how Eric Carr and the offense are coming together in two thousand eighteen and obviously the only two games in we have fourteen ago we're just halfway into the first quarter season but when you look at what the raiders were able to do offensively I think a number of things stand out it coaching you'll get the cream activity conceptually a to what Jon Gruden in this offense are doing there's a real sophistication that Gruden has implemented into the there's often that I don't know we st not many offenses are doing with the raiders are doing offensively and then beyond that we're continuing to see something from Derek Carr to be in so quick with the ball and we can talk about it later increased detail but he's just been a really good job of just protecting themselves with some of the things even before and after the snap so I gue- that the keeping their even though into the record books you know in in the raiders are looking up in the standings at the rest of the division you have to take a real close look at what into -veloping beyond the transaction wire but what's really happening and I think it didn't show up in the standings and then show upon binding of open you look at just the spill the raiders clearly are moving in the right direction offensively and really quick to Michael's point the Oakland raiders right now net total yards the leaders as far as teams in the NFL they're sitting at ten th right now so their offense they're cop they're accruing seven hundred sixty yards of offense per game and with that being said I like keeping the glass half been talking about this the raiders are right now too and Owen this season in the first half so that's kind of how to put it what do you think they're also the top teams when it comes to you know you know getting yards per personnel I think they were mainly top six I saw I'm forgetting the numbers but you know Michael Spiderman Derek Carr I think he's eighty percent Dan complained most of his passes last week it was ninety percent so he's he's connecting what is why receivers and maybe releasing the ball much quicker because you were facing a passwords from the Broncos von Miller before that you're facing Aaron Donna and the Rams so getting the ball much out quicker was very important and I think their car did that and he made a great throw last week to Seth Roberts whereas for his only touchdown I think it was it was between two defenders and laser right up the middle so for me I think their cars having a good story and we had the three hundred APPs in the first week but he bounced back for a good performance against the broncos okay that's good to see that he he's he actually hasn't done half bad I'd like to give him some credit for completing a high percentage of passes I mean Michael you sat there and watch the game in person for a guy to complete that many passes into lose a game something that's almost unheard of isn't it it is I have to go back and look I got I did I did that works the day after the game but I believe it was something along the lines love Derek Carr was The anything that again I think quarterback who completed eighty eight and a half percent or more of their passes with minimum fifty attempts eighty point five or above art for twenty six no NFL history before your calls he didn't have any interceptions Amman history and completions and one of those the drop pass on fourth and one that was real critical in the fourth quarter yes like I think you yeah you're GonNa talk about Derek Carr in the completions you have to also talk about the protection for holding up at certain times even though the ball games dirt cars can quickly until they're they're holding up their way it's a freely good broncos pass rush and then the receiver for the the fact that we we can single out giving drop because there really weren't many and it's at Robert Coming up at fastball twenty one yard touchdown or Amari Cooper Ken targets and his direction he caught all ten of them which is rare you see somebody who can pretend on target and I think all in all it was a great performance a clean fairly clean performance by many on offense now that being said there are still moments when he at this game and you think to yourself this can get even better and I would highlight for example one of their cards completions with on the opening drive of the game the raiders have been a really good job at getting points to start of the game you know there are two terms of scoring and the opening possession will Sunday had to settle for a steal because on third down in the red zone Derek Carr dumped off the short cast and Marshawn Lynch for four yard loss. pincay Mike nugent for this deal gold three zero it very easily could have been seven zero if there wasn't a miscommunication there between their car in Marshall It's where you see them before this now did you go back and watch that play again march on seems to be kind of processing what his assignment is in blitz protection and because of them not being totally in the same page still in their second game injured is often you had a direct park on a raw to those right but ideally if everyone is sure about their assignment and just be confident execute in a hostile environment is the raiders Certainly hope to be able to do as the season progresses jet is probably touchdown instead of field goal which means a lot in the game decided by one point yeah action but it's going to be when it comes at a crucial point in the game you gotta do everything right I think when case keenum scored and I think it was one thousand nine hundred nineteen the raiders it's point Jon Gruden as you've heard in the press conferences Michael has been very honest with his team and and how they need to improve and what things they need to work on here his and Gruden talking to the media about team needs to do moving forward we.
