"Today. We're taking a look at a quotes from Benjamin Lefty Ruggiero. Ruggiero was a notorious thug and is thought to have murdered twenty six people during his thirty years working for the New York via with reputation as a loyal soldier for the banana family. It's hardly shocking. That he wants said a little violence never heard anyone. This catchy Zinger is attributed to reject Rogelio in the memoirs of former FBI agent. Joseph pistone. Who spent time in deep cover with the mafia hosing as a jewel thief named Donnie Brasco? Pistone had convinced Ribero to bring him into the banana crime family. Soon after they met in the early nineteen seventy s. Ruggieri's relationship with the man he knew as Donnie BRASCO began to blur the lines. Between professional and personal to lefty Rasco was a close friend. And protege someone. He could pass on his wealth of racketeering experience to Roscoe run the bookmaking business and he often dined at rose home with his family. In the Mafia the divide between friend and colleague is inherently muddy to bring a new member into the family is to vouch for them by opening the door to the banana organization. Lefty had staked his life on brass goes loyalty. Which means that if things went sideways both of their lives would be forfeit. A career spent dealing in these life and death. Absolutes may have walked reg- aero's comprehension of violence to him. Aggression was a form of currency something to be bonded and sold and as a racketeer. Bloodshed was a key part of the business model without the threat of violence. His Marx would have less incentive to open their wallets. Of course those threats had to have true weight behind them which is where. Aero's reputation came into play during his criminal career. He murdered twenty-six people either to serve his own interests or those of the people paying him when the occasion called for it he reached for his two pistols one for each hand. Earning him his other nickname to guns. According to pistone regierung may have had a reputation as a killer but in his everyday life he didn't often resort to violence to him. It seemed bloodshed was a business transaction. And if that upset You well. That wasn't his problem. What was his problem was Donnie BRASCO agent? Stones initial assignment was a six month. Sting to gather information about truck hijacking but eventually it grew into almost five years of working undercover gathering Intel on Jero and his associates in the banana family when his superiors finally ordered an end to the operation. In July of Nineteen eighty-one they visited the head of the crew. Sonny black in person to tell him the truth about brass goes identity for the mistake of allowing an FBI agent to infiltrate the Mafia sonny black was murdered and had his hands cut off by his fellow mobsters. It was a fate that was meant to await lefty Jero as well but he was arrested and held in custody by the FBI for his own protection and for the protection of their undercover agent at reject rose trial prosecutors revealed that he had made a concerted effort to find and kill agent pistone wants his betrayal was revealed but he never got the chance. The evidence pistone had collected led to over one hundred convictions including Gyros ironically for a man whose business was governed by murder kindness to someone. He took a friend had been his undoing in the end regierung might not have seen the in little violence but he certainly felt the painful sting of betrayal.

"Way top forty stations rotated records that you had things breaking in bear capacity where you had the lemon heads in the breeders and the dinosaur juniors. And yet all these bands that were breaking in in a way where they'd be like busband video and. You could have a back and rage machine right next to each other. It didn't it was. There was no there was not an actual. It was just the alternative John which is huge and things but things would break regionally. So like like lemon heads belly Juliana Hatfield was all in that similar time period. Yeah. But but I love the job because I feel like I got to be in. So in the mix in a really meaningful way. And I I really loved my bosses, and I really loved my co workers, and I love the department the people that because I was working with you know, I was working with like the mid level people in the other departments. They were like my age, and we were all like again. Right. So I have had a great boss above me. And then I had a great the the boss of hers who brought me in. But so I had really really wonderful role models and people do go to add. But then I had like this crew of people to strategize with try to break these young bands. And it was really exciting and wonderful. And I feel like it was. It was a great environment to try new things and learn new things, but also understand how businesses work and why sacrifices have to be made. And why things are going to happen where you're going to get you're gonna get screwed. But the bottom line means that we have to spend the money on this thing because we spent too much money on this thing that you learned a lot of business. Sounds great. But all of that of that music at the remember hearing it on the radio and the radio did never sounded like that before. I'm really changed. Change, the culture fashion. It changed the way people talk to change a lot did. And it was right? Like that was the that was sort of the peak before the end do. Yeah. It really was right. I feel like oh like people have better taste or I'm really good. No. You know, what he know? What it was? It wasn't the people have better as I'm really good. It was it was somebody's finally understanding the value of the kind of music, I love. Okay. That's that's because it is because it used to be like alternative bands. Like, they were they'd be like maybe selling twenty thousand units. And then once this wave came through, and it was really like nirvana that really fucking knock down that door, smells, like teen spirit. And all of a sudden it was millions of units. And you couldn't get the CDs into the record stores fast enough. It all of a sudden created this environment where it validated a whole genre and sub-genre that had been sort of ostracized down to these tertiary like college radio little markets because people started rotating music and making hit that of alternative songs as opposed it being like, Nevada. Von Dame radio. All of a sudden program started rotating songs the way top forties. Do you would make hits? If you were sell records in college radio is really strange to listen to to to know of bleach to know of nirvana to and then all of a sudden here teen spirit on college radio on your shitty..

"Great freshman year at Stanford. You're not gonna get trampled under it. All you're going to be so great at USC film school. When you make a movie, even though your best friend is making on his phone, and we'll probably be a better director than anybody. That went to the school. I mean, that's the other crazy thing about college is the idea that like I mean, it's there's many many reasons to go to college. There's an the least of which is the education. And and really I mean, it really is about about a Belay like it's like five jobs that you go to college for and everything else. It's right. It's right here. Exactly everything else is. I was a whatever major Fleming. Accounted now, I know people that have that exact story. I majored in business. Sure. Marketing communication's Angeles, everyone I met a kid. He's twenty four years old his he started doing comedy when it was fourteen and his father, his father, his father was the feature act up in when I was just up sending valves past weekend. And he. Got amazing grades went to NYU kept doing comedy in New York, but decide to get a business gree and now at the Irap alleged twenty four he's decided just to work in tech. So he went to school for what he wanted to. He went to the school for what he wanted to. Thing decided he wanted to do something completely different. That isn't even his degrees degree wasn't business. He's intact now. And he lives in any was really really break kit and very funny. I'm very sweet. And I told him I said he said if you want me to talk to either of your kids about college about it. I'd love to talk to him about it. Because I had an amazing experience. I don't know that I had to go and spend all that money. I also don't think what you go there for will. That be all what I mean. I went to I mean, despite the truth disappointment, I went to the university of Oregon for business degree and play rugby, and I left with a feeder degree, and I ended up being in the field that I chose. But I have tried to use your degree to my degree meant nothing. Yeah. Joined improv group in province would stand up at one one. Yeah. Exactly. He didn't actually take your degree and try to go. Not been a day where I've had where I've put my I put it out. But but I wouldn't have I wouldn't be the person. I am if I'd gone to college dot in theater department, and the experiences things that may July up inside from the people the people, that's what I love. That's what I keep thinking. You know, that is the thing with true. It's like none of this architecture. The where the is located and then that's gonna mean shit. You're gonna meet three or four people that will blow your minds in. You're gonna have extreme you're gonna meet some people that you didn't know and experiences. You didn't know you could have. I mean, I think it's the greatest I feel like we should everyone should be able to go to school. Everyone should be able to have that opportunity or you know, but also colleges were just they were they were of a luxurious add on when I was a kid really a lot of people didn't go to college. I mean, more than half the graduating class. Probably didn't maybe. Yeah. I mean, a lot of people got jobs and people went to the army and people went and interesting pretty much. I feel like pretty much every everybody I knew when you lived in. People were a lot of people who are in Los Angeles. A lot of people didn't go to college. They went right into a lot of people. I know like, no. After their Barbas on stint, of course. But they went into like, internships record labels, or on film sets or not everybody entertainment. "I'm guessing I don't know. But it I three of the name. I mean, I know like one I know one of the people it's just from like the dance world. And then I know the two actresses, but I didn't my first instinct not knowing a whole lot about the story was I think we get into a weird news cycle that is about distraction, and this is an example of elite people being underhanded. And I I I don't know who all of these people are. So I don't know how accurate that. That's how that's how it feels. And it's it's just something to point to Jesse small like see what these people are doing, and they're liars, and they're this and that and look at all. Yeah. Nothing's. Enough already have so much privilege, but Jesse different than that. This feels not different than the privilege of Trump's it doesn't feel different than the privilege of the Kardashians. It doesn't feel different than the privilege of all those assholes who went to fire island fire. Right. I mean, that's just that's straight up that straight up that whole thing was Instagram. It was a photo of something people got excited about and pay billions of dollars to go be with other people's from photos. And it wasn't there when they got there. It's such a parable. But the the Jesse small thing. Fortunately, it just became about that dude, it doesn't it doesn't say anything about African Americans. It doesn't say anything about homosexuals doesn't. But it can be used as an example. And I feel like he's so fucking weird that you're like most ex fill in the blank to whatever. Are not most people are not like that. You know, most hate crimes are real most, you know, Like like. that. But I think some people know that. But I I just don't have that much faith in general. So I know too much what dumb people think because they have a voice I can say to somebody will look he did it in if one person did it. That's fair assumption someone else's done it, man. That story. I think pretty easily has I watched a guy breakdown him explaining how he was beat up by the cops and the press, and he just broke down every single thing that he said, and he goes this. Nobody punches you in the face, and then gets backed up, and then decides to stop nobody you get punched like bringing on this is the fake story from the from jump street from jump street if you were a good cop. He'd be like what? Nope. No, not re-. Did they actually good police work in that? And that they were suspected the beginning..

And that's so good that she's taken that initiative like it has nothing to do with where you went to college or what don't take down a notch. I don't I don't need some kind of like I already failed you before I even met you could have gone to school with a really great film program. A lot of problems with me. But I feel like. You know, but yet no the the seriously the high schools right now are obsessed with the story like the phones all like just lighting up lighting lighting up. Like, it's all they're talking about. It was it was a very exciting. It's been excited thirty six hours for high schoolers. And the parents are find out shake massively depressing. I think it's it's really sad. And I think it's really, and I hope it, but I also think it's going to it'll shake out pretty quickly. Because I think if if that's how kids that are in college that locked what is the school. Everything comes back to roost comes back to roost. And if and if they didn't know what was happening I feel badly for them. Their parent, but that's going to be a punishment for their parents and their parents pay. And then their parents are going to have to have the sit down that they needed to have at some point because to raise generation cheaters. No doubt. Right. I mean, it's at the end of the day you have to go. What am I what is my goal here? Tillich amazing to everybody else is that what it is. I got into a car. I'm very upset about that. I think I think. It's Lord the not maybe not all of them. But a handful of the of the kids that were at benefit from this problem, or this issue, they had just have these huge Instagram accounts. And they're they're considered influence. I mean, it's just like they all their parents. Also in the red flag factory. You know, it's just like. Like, so. I agree. It's. I like that they own the red flash. I know when you're when you're someone like Maasim. Oh, and Laura Laura Lori Laughlin, you're like, why don't you just what are you worried about that? Okay. Yeah. Yeah. The idea that the this is what bad was telling me that the person that was kind of at the top of this whole scandal or ring or whatever it is. It is was the one who gave all of these names. And that's what I'm wondering. Because then reading I started I read through the found the tapped phone calls as of us. I and I'm wondering like, I don't know the time line of if the if the wiretaps stuff. In what in what order it happened? But at some point isn't isn't there coercion if this person knows being tapped and he's been investigated, and he's literally strain these fifty parents. I mean, he's been doing this a legal stuff. But if he's knowingly. Telling them about it and getting them to sign on to do it is that not coercion. We'll find out. I mean, it is. I wonder about that. Because I was reading it knowing that knowing that he knows his tapped unless he didn't know he was tapped when these things happen. But when I was reading I was like, it'll be interesting to see people don't come back because obviously these are wealthy people that have means if they if people don't come back.
