"The Day was April. Twenty Second Nineteen fifteen. The Germans released chlorine gas during the second battle of Abra marking the first effective use of poison. Gas On the western front chemical weapons have been used for hundreds of years at the end of the nineteenth century and into the twentieth treaties and declarations began acknowledging the issue of poison gases by forbidding the use of poisons in Warfare The Hague conventions of eighteen ninety nine and one thousand nine hundred seven for instance forbade the use of poison and poisoned weapons. But this rule was violated in the first world. War World War. Germany put a lot of effort into researching and producing these chemical agents. German chemist. Fritz Harbor helped develop Germany's poison gas program harbor headed the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Physical Chemistry and Electro Chemistry he was also given an army captain and led the Chemistry Section at the Ministry of war and Berlin helping coordinate the production of ammonia needed in the war many people condemned harbor for his role in chemical warfare though he won the Nobel Prize in chemistry in nineteen eighteen for the synthesis of ammonia from its elements Swedish pharmacist. Carl Wilhelm Shula discovered chlorine back in the late seventeen hundreds as a gas. Chlorine is a greenish yellow color. And it is two and a half times heavier than air. Though chlorine is used in some household products and in drinking water it can be used as a poisonous gas chlorine gas stays close to the ground in areas without wind and spreads rapidly. It is very toxic to humans when a person breeds chlorine gas. It reacts with Moist Tissues like the eyes throat and lungs to form. Acid inhaling low levels can cause I scan an airway irritation as well as a sore throat and cough exposure to higher levels of chlorine gas can cause chest tightness wheezing shortness of breath and broncos spasm if a person is severely exposed could get Pulmonary Edema. A condition caused by excess fluid in the lungs. Chlorine gas is easy to produce and handle harbor turns to chlorine gas for use in chemical warfare. The French launched tear-gas attacks against the Germans early. In World War One and early in Nineteen fifteen the Germans fired thousands of shells filled with the irritant xylitol bromide at Russian troops blew off. In this case the weather was cold and the chemical could not vaporize to pose any threat to the Russians but on the evening of April Twenty. Second Nineteen fifteen during the second battle of. Abra the Germans released nearly two hundred tons of chlorine gas from cylinders buried along a friend. The gas attack created a several MILE GAP IN THE ALLIED LINE. Defending the city. Though it poison many of the soldiers and caused panic the Germans failed to take effective action in its aftermath in the allies held the bre position poison gas continued to be a part of warfare in world war. One technology and training continued to progress on both the offensive and defensive sides of gas warfare. The allies develop gas masks and the Germans introduced mustard gas in nineteen seventeen so more between ninety thousand and one hundred thousand people died due to chemical weapons in the war with most of those deaths caused by fos gene during after the first World War. Well, in the last in the last five years, over thirty million dollars visited the Dominican Republic, but is the first time the international media reports such an alarming situation. These are is alita incidents. And the Dominican Republic is are safe destination. Yeah. Okay. Those good west. Okay. Like, do you think we call it the town magnificent perfect? Oh hotel. It is. Nice day. Rui is very nice. Nice. Yeah. So basically we're getting fucked by the media, people die at happens millions of people visit our country every year some are bound to die. Well Francisco, not sure if this is the first time to torture, dropping like flies in your country, or if these are, in fact, isolated plan murders, but shame on the international media. If this is the case, and this is the first time they are reporting on it because. That's invaluable information and people should take it into consideration when they're trying to cheap out on their honeymoon. I Mexico now, Dominican Republic, what's next gonna take Costa, Rica, and believe away from us. "This is Joe pags show to talk to Joe. Call eight nine four one pags. And now it's joepags. It is the joepags show. Michael palca, sitting in for my buddy joepags, one more evening here is back on Monday. Happy Donut day, hope you got yours. I got mine at Dunkin donuts, and I might have picked up a second one here in Delaware at another Donut location, duck doughnuts. But hope you got your national Donut on today. I was working on something. Hopefully get it done. You know, this show has a legacy of great parodies Joe has produced so many great parodies in the last time, I was here, I played you the little parody, the we did for the president after the mullahs report came out, and it was working on one for Joe Biden, because Biden flip flopped on the Hyde amendment. And so we're in the middle of we could get it done in time today. But if you know, the Paul Simon song, slip slide the way it's just too perfect flip flop away the nearer, the nomination, the more he's flip flop and away. So stay tuned, if we get it done over the weekend, they'll send the pags and maybe I'll share with you. And speaking of the Mola report. And what we learned there was something in the Mola report, one of the ten instances that were alluded to as possible possible. Obstruction of Justice incidents and one reasonably brought up because the, the redacted report has been unredacted in some of these instances and voicemail was released. So I need legal help on this one to understand it, our friend attorney author, Wendy. Patrick is joining us to try and help us sort out the story of the, the voice mail that popped up the some people calling it disturbing voicemail from Trump's former lawyer, John Dowd, Wendy, Patrick, welcome back to the program. Always a pleasure might are having me. Well, I gotta tell you this one. This one goes into territory that I'm not fully. My judge duty law. School degree. Doesn't really cover this kind of legal stuff. Help. Need to have a legal background to understand that? You hear what you want to hear and that boy snow that was released. We already knew it was in the that voice now. We got the transcript last week. So it was kind of like the mole report, it was watching the movie instead of reading the book it was, it was listening. Can you hear me? Okay. Yeah. I do. I'm just I was just about to say what a great way to look at it. You know, people say, no, I, I liked the book better than the movie or vice versa. But now we have both to compare them and Mike. That's important here. Here's why that's important. Might you do have the comparison when you do that. Comparison, what you find is the snippets from that boys mail that appear in the mullahs report. Do not encapsulate. Everything that was said that highly significant because I wrongly part of what the mole report with designed to do with to share the instances, particularly and invert in the part to where he was talking about obstruction of Justice. To share what he thought might have supported those towns. And the fact that the doubt Email, was one of those, you would have thought it would have been reproduced in full. But instead, you have selective part. Selective parts of that Email that do not accurately reflect, at least according to doubt. And according to what's been already reproduced, then was actually said. And so that's another reason that significant. Why not just reproduce the entire thing in the report? That's a good question. And, and when you say selective sections are released or reproduced, does this go to the other lesson. You gave us in the, the, the Wendy Patrick law school, the rule of completeness. Oh, mike. You've got a dynamite memory. I am forever, citing the rule of completeness. Because if you don't produce an don't let somebody here the entire message. See the entire document why the entire movie video? Whatever it is. What you've done is, you've taken something out of context, and context, informed content. So, for example, Mike here, there, there's plenty that has been left out of this. When you look at that let me just give you a couple of examples, the version, that was released by Muller omits, the following important words, quote, I'm sympathetic. I understand that. You can't join the joint defense. With a wants you to without you having to give up any. Financial information. Now, I I'm picking choosing myself right there, because I don't want to read the whole thing, but suffice it to say there were some relevant portions that were not of the report and the question is why now Bob Muller may say, hey, I didn't think those were important because I was only citing what was important for me to insinuate, this might be something that those jokes action of Justice. But nonetheless, if you're John Dowd, you sure, we'll let you have seen that report beforehand. So you could be ready to come back that and basically say, you know, you may have thought that, but this is the whole this is what the entire Boyce mail was, and this is why the American people should hear it. And if you didn't hear it, I'm gonna play just a little bit of it. This was John Dowd. One of the president's attorneys calling Michael Flynn's attorney Robert Kelner, and they're, they're making all kinds of hay out of this. Here's just a snippet that appeared on CNN last night. This is drama then. I understand. Appearance. All too. So he's saying it wouldn't surprise me, if you went on to make a deal with the government, and then he goes on to, to some of the other stuff that's in the transcription that was released and he talks about. I understand that you can't join the joint defence. So that's one thing Wendy. Was this voice mail being left was, this is this problematic for the president, or is this just going to create more noise from the house to dish year committee? The ladder, Mike this voice Bill is not creating problems for the president. This voice mail does not discuss pardons. It does not insinuate a an intense to the president by what his lawyer leaves on a boy belonging to opposing counsel. That is just a terrible leap. You know what else you hear this on Mike? I gotta tell you. I'm glad you played it that, that Boise's very soft. He's very deliberate. He's been described as quote unquote ominous. Do we know what he sounds like every time he leaves the mill I've been talking to people that actually do and apparently at least according to what I've heard he very frequently this way? So this is not out of character, and it doesn't highlight the significance of what he said. Gosh, it must just be. Yeah. So serious. What does it mean? He's a lawyer, you have to think he would have wondered whether or not someday this was going to become public. Don't of course he's not gonna talk about pardons. He's not going to talk about anything explicitly, but he does need to get this information because if they're splitting from that joint offense agreement he has to do what he has to do to act accurately, and to competently represent his client. You know, I'm so glad you brought up the ominous thing. And we're talking to Wendy Patrick, she's an attorney. So she knows this stuff, and this, this recording this recording that, you know, a lot of people calling in a bombshell, I don't think about show guy John Dowd is about as ominous as a flea, you know, there's, there's nothing Tony soprano asking there. There's no of verbal arm. Twisting, there, there's no ominous punch as so many have described and it's almost laugh. Fobel but I, I never know. So he didn't curse. He didn't like you said he didn't dangle. Pardon? All he said was. And I guess this is what they're kind of inferring is that the president still has a good feeling towards Flynn that remains. And so is that supposed to be some kind of hint that, oh, he's dangling apart in front of him? That's what they're using it for. But Mike, how along I mean, the president very really liked general Flynn. They were good friends, he much admired him, you know, not that they were lifelong friends, but he very much admired, general flan. So that's probably what he was talking about. At least that's one interpretation to take the other interpretation requires too many steps that just aren't there. And you know, going back to your, your almost joke. You cannot possibly you what you want to hear. But I don't think anybody can really hear that you honestly listened to it objectively, you know, I always talk about rose colored glasses and I guess this would be, you know, Roco rose-colored headsets big. But even if you're looking at it at a totally partisan lands, you'd skill chance here. This ominous nature, there is not the hearing. It does not detract from the words and it does not at anything to the words which we had last week. I think it's just the mere fact that it was released. It's something to talk about it interesting, my prediction, Mike. We won't be talking about this more than another twenty four hours and then we'll be onto the next. I agree with you. And I think I'm glad the, the audio was released. I have to ask you, a couple of quick questions in the time remaining. Wendy, Patrick, your traveler, you're always on the road. And there have been some disturbing stories of late of people who visited the Dominican Republic. I've been there. I thought the Dominican Republic was beautiful. I saw some really wonderful places. I've been on the north side of the island important to block that I've been in the south side at concert, a combo, but we've had people dying or getting deathly ill the minute. They walk into these resorts, what the heck's going on in the DR. That's right. Mike. And I was there three months ago. I it's one of those places that a lot of people go to. It's very, very popular. You're talking about a three deaths from Americans and it appears that at least from all the reporting come out heart attack. Pulmonary edema respiratory failure. But the most I've been following this to ATM so interested in this because exactly what you said. I'm a traveler, the couple survived the symptoms that were similar have been speaking out, and they were both bound to have been poisoned with type of insecticide. No, that has shed some light on at least and investigate. We don't know nothing's been concluded so far, but could it be possible, and especially because all these people died in their room that there was something circulating, for example to the air air conditioning system. And they were exposed to this chemical that killed them. That's a long the short of it, according to the couple that apparently survived as Miller incident a year ago. Now, we don't know. And again, I don't want to speak out of turn because we don't have any proves to chill, these three people. But the fact that, that couple was at the same place and supper, this very disturbing and noxious symptoms. At least means it something to look into a nap with being done now. We cannot wait to find out what it is because people love going to the Dominican Republic, and we don't want to stop going until we find out what, what caused these deaths. Yeah. And it certainly isolated incidents twenty-five. No, yeah. Twenty five years ago, I was on site at a major American theme park before dawn and witness what they do to keep the area. Let's just say bug free..

"Of respiratory failure. According to the country's national police, what is respiratory well, apparently what they're saying is, they had a condition that was caused by excess fluid in their lungs. And so, I guess they couldn't breathe, so Edward Nathaniel, Holmes, and Cynthia and day they missed their scheduled checkout time at the Bahia Principe hotel in Lara mono-. And that's when they went into the room and found him unresponsive now they did say they were various medications to treat high blood pressure found in the room. No, it looks like some type of respiratory failure. And Pomo pulmonary edema is caused under trying to figure this out because I got really betting Zayed's excess fluid in the lungs swimming. No, they were not swimming. But this fluid in their lungs, it doesn't have to be what from drowning, and they had to be whatever they was taking together had to call this. I don't know. Diet, the same, I feel like they still need to be investigating this very weird that both of them died. I'm like, good hypochondriac. I hear something like that happen to me. Okay. Now, let's talk about a woman who escaped a six hour ordeal. She was allegedly raped repeatedly chapter house in queens, this happened early Thursday. She got punched so hard. She was left with at least one fracture in her face. Finally, she managed to jump from a second floor window of the house, and escape, can you imagine that six hours, now she says the man was an acquaintance of hers. And so now we are on the lookout for Michael ho, saying fifty three years old. Five ten two hundred pounds bald with Brown eyes. They said he fled in a red Chevrolet with the Florida license plate, Jay Z, E Y, three to what do you think? You're going, you name, it all over the news this morning, buddy. All right. And then the good news, there was a Powerball jackpot winner in North Carolina, three hundred forty four point six million dollar Powerball jackpot. Maybe you know, the person Charlemagne. Because you know in the Carolinas report, we just know it was a North Carolina. That's all I know so far. So North Carolina does not allow the winner to remain anonymous, so that person will have to come forward and they have one hundred eighty days to clean that price. Would you claim it right away? No life is to show and I would absolutely go claim it immediately remain anonymous and okay. All right. Well still be out time to we out. Yeah. So whoever that person is we can't wait to find out your information. Told us about two people dying six hour rape in it. I didn't win. I'm still depressed make me feel that I can't because I do want to adjust this Virginia Beach mass shooting. They left twelve people dead. Dwayne critic forty years old was fired. No Dwayne critic actually resigned from his job. And they said his performance was satisfactory. They were no issues. They said he was a good person, so they thought at his job. And for some reason, the veterans city engineer targeted people to work with for years, he's forty years old, and he started shooting on that municipal building Friday afternoon. And then he ended up getting fatally wounded in that shootout with the police, one of the people that he did kill was his former bus and other longtime city employees and a contractor as well. So they don't know if any of the victims were targeted or how many may have been quite just as he was shooting indiscriminately. But they did find to legally purchase forty five caliber, pistols at the scene. You know, say what you want. This is important. Okay. This is why you gotta get to the root of things emotional IQ that an all time low and people don't know how to handle their issues without violence, her people are hurting people and as a person that was in pain, and all he did was going redistribute that pain, some other people, you gotta get to the root of your traumas people. I right. Well, that is your front page news on this Monday, June, third man, those who can make me feel better. Yes, please. The name of Kirk Franklin Bank. And maybe you guys know two foot length and foot problems like do people with shorter feet have more foot problems. I think it depends upon the arch the arch gives the three dimensional picture to the feet. I think a lot of us when we go to buy shoes or look at us. We're thinking two dimensional instead of three dimensional since think the arches everything because if you ever really high arch or really low arch it changes, everything or the instep. You know, I got the high on top high bottom so shoes sometimes they're really hard because they kit across the top of my foot. And I I'm not the only one that has this. "So that can be very important, especially when you're in a high altitude scenario, go ahead. So the doctor, you know, can take it from there, but we need all those things because if the emergencies rise them, you know, we have them for if and when they occur. So doc, let me ask you this when it comes to injuries. Falling, I would say is something that you don't wanna do why you're climbing, but people fall and they injured themselves. So now that we're talking about these type of illnesses that can be set a person at these altitudes. These kind of altitude sicknesses does one precipitate. The other does a person gets sick, and they fall is that is that a common occurrence that the out sue sickness actually causes a person to fall like like when somebody breaks a hip as normal, your hip broken, then you fell people think you broke a hip because you normally it's your broke and major fall. So which one is more common? Is it just human error that causes a personal fall or illness causes the person fall? I would say is probably human error and movement. Ability for people to move in a smooth fashion. Generally, at least on the bigger eight thousand meter peaks. A lot of those routes have fixed line, so you're always attached to a rope, but sometimes you're not and you can't sterling fallen injury. Self does one lead to the other. I, I certainly think that fatigue and having headaches and AMS symptoms. Sterling Lincoln contribute, but I'm not so sure that there's one always begets the other I think is simply falling with because you can't move very well because of the Teague elevation. Crampons, icy, ser- services. I think all those things contribute. Okay. Okay. What why you pair of you here. Firstly, hypoc Zia. If you can explain doctor exactly what that is, and then sort of sort of mine the fact of what is the science and the physiology behind this condition. So as I understand any of our listens, you don't already know. Pox is the lack of oxygen delivered to the to the body, whether that's through something central or peripheral. And so in high altitude on this, when we when we gain out to, there's less available oxygen because of the because of the low pressure such that you're not breeding normal amount of oxygen, they normally with Sade sea level. The effect of that is that your body has to work harder to do the work that normally would have to do at altitude. And so the things that that happen with box, at least to the body are a combination of problems such as a m s which can lead to cerebral Dima and pulmonary edema as well, which type of a Dima that's related to pox yet and elevated pressures in the pulmonary vessels in the heart. So if you'll the guide on on a summit. It and you are Oviously looking huff, your own self interests, but your duty to the people you have with you. How difficult is it for you as amounts near and a doctor to manage those things in the best way? That's a good question. I think that as a guide, I think you have to be a very where of how you feel in higher performing at altitude in the responsibility is to make sure.
