Mercedes reveals giant 56-inch, AI-enabled 'Hyperscreen' for upcoming electric car
"Listeners. It's brett molina and welcome back to talking tech. My co host. Mike cider is off today. Recently mercedes-benz announced plans for a fifty six inch curved screen that nearly spans the width of a new cars interior. That just sounds incredible. Saying it out loud. The hyper screen will debut the spring. And it's new electric sedan the mercedes benz s. It's part of a growing trend among automakers to make your car's function more like computers but are all these screens and other tech safe joining us now is money reporter and i believe green bay packers. Fan nathan bomi. Thanks for joining us brett. How are you. I'm good so you ask the question in your story about this topic and whether bigger is actually better what did you find out well. Fifty six screen is john. I mean we've never seen a screen like this in a vehicle and you know it depends on who you ask. Whether it's safe or not the mercedes benz says it safe and And safety advocates are concerned. I mean you know. The first company that really started to pioneer big screens and vehicles was tesla model s a luxury sedan and then later with the model three and other vehicles and they basically put a tablet screen at the center console in place of a lot of the old fashioned analog buttons but mercedes is taking this to a new level by basically extending the screen across the vehicle screen even now encompasses the instrument cluster. So this is a really a step toward bigger and bigger. And i think we're going to continue to see. Other automakers follow suit so it's weird hearing all these announcements about these giant screens and cars considering how much we've been told about smartphones in the dangers of having those and using those waller driving. How do automakers plan to tackle all these additional screens and cars. Well the most important thing is to keep people's eyes on the road that's really the challenge and so if there's a screening vehicle but you keep your eyes on the road it should be safe for the most part the problem of course with smartphones is oftentimes people are fumbling for them with their hands and they take their eyes off the road and then he ended up getting into an accident driver. Distraction is really serious crisis for this country and so we obviously want to avoid that here. Now when i asked the ceo of daimler on a conference call a couple of weeks ago how they incorporated safety concerns into the design of the hyper screen. He said that they actually designed it to ensure that people don't have to take the eyes off the road for example if ape. The passenger is looking at the screen. Has some sort of video plane on the screen In in front of them essentially in the front seat and the driver takes their eyes off the road and looks at the screen. The vehicle be able to recognize that. I've movement and stopped the film from airing on the front passenger seat Screen which is wild and then if you put your is back on the road than it keeps playing. This is some really high tech stuff. And you know we'll see if it works now at my understanding is that particular technology will not be in use in the us because of safety concerns here but it will be in use and other countries. I wouldn't be surprised if the regulations eventually change here to allow it so with all these fisted systems coming in cars. How long before this starts to change how we learn how to drive. I think it will you know. I think we're talking about things like augmented reality windshields being the next step. Where essentially you'll basically have a directions projected onto the screen that we if you've seen a new vehicle driven a new vehicle anytime recently you may have experienced what's called heads up display which is where. There's a tiny in a projected box. Bright above your instrument cluster on the windshield. That essentially will show you for example what speed. You're traveling but in reality windshield would project like an arrow onto the road head of you to say turn this way or that way and so. That's the next

"Florida could pass another grim covert milestone as soon as today. Department of Health announcing 145 deaths from the virus, which means the state is just 35 short. Of the 25,000 mark. While he has faced criticism for the state's vaccine rollout governor to Santa sees it as a success. The governor announced yesterday that Florida has strong momentum on vaccinating seniors. 65 older, he says Florida was the first state to vaccinate more than 500,000 individuals. 65 older. We're also just one of three states to vaccinate over a million people off All ages and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They're just days away from their first appearance in the NFC championship game in 18 years, quarterback Tom Brady says making it is no easy task and playing the Packers on the road will be tough street going pretty sweet. So get another one. So I thought we all were to be challenged to get it going up against a great football team. We have a lot of prep to go and We're gonna take every minute to kick off to get ready to go..
Rams' Sean McVay noncommittal on future of Jared Goff as starter: 'I'm evaluating everything, including QB'
"So there's been a lot of talk you know. Mcvay doesn't criticize a lot of people. And even when he does he's chose to sugar coat and everything's on the table so you may have heard. Essentially he said saturday after the playoff loss to the packers that jared goff quarterback right now with the emphasis on the last two words there sunday. He said everything's on the table but maybe he was giving us an indication that this was happening and things were bubbling a couple of weeks ago. Go back to their first playoff game. There wildcard game against the seattle seahawks key. This is just me speculating. You tell me having been in so many locker rooms and having dealt with so many situations right that game john. Wolford is starting quarterback. Jared goff is the number two quarterback with a thumb injury. This is important. there is no number. Three quarterback blake bortles inactive. So if john wolford where to get injured during the game which actually happened very scary neck injury ambulance came out. Then jared goff would presumably have to come in for the next snap and with no number three quarterback he would have to presumably play the rest of the game. So help me understand. If you're in a situation where wolfer gets hurt on the second snap. Hypothetically fourth snap the game. You've got a rush right in there and likely finished the game because nobody is behind you on the depth chart if you were healthy enough to do that. Play almost every single. Snap of a game if something goes wrong with the starter right out of the gate which is exactly what happened. How in the world are you not healthy enough to start. I think look in the end. It's all about numbers. If they put three quarterbacks up the somebody else has to go down and on an active list. And maybe they wanna. I don't know what they wanted. But maybe they want an extra defense alignment or extra offense alignment or whatever the case may be also when you didn't have the necessary reps throughout the course of the week for jared goff as he was practicing because of the surgery they kind of eased him alone in kind of wanted to let it heal but he was forced in action so therefore the you had no other choice.

Rams superstar Aaron Donald upset at end of playoff loss
"The packers thirty two eighteen on saturday and heading into the weekend lindsay. You wrote that you were really excited to see this. Coaching matchup between matlock floor. And sean mcvay. What stood out to you in the battle of the minds here. Yeah i mean because these are two guys who know each other so well and you know. They're very much part of the same coaching tree. They both worked under kyle shanahan about the flora then works Under sean mcvay. So they have very similar offensive philosophies but that was just a game that was full of really interesting. Coaching matchups mallon floor wine. That batch up by far the packers had the better game plan. They were the better team better coach. All of this and sure aaron. Donald was not at full strength. You could tell that. He was very clearly hampered by the rib injury that he suffered during the wild card round but it was just a very impressive performance overall by aaron rodgers and certainly by matt leflore and that entire coaching staff the packers put up four hundred and eighty four yards of total offense against basically the best defense in the league. talked about aaron donald. Who's just a generational talent. Not being at full strength. But how is this packers offense. So effective saturday night. We'll everything they do. Obviously starts with aaron rodgers. Who just seem to have this innate mastery of what was coming and it kind of went viral on twitter a little bit because so many of fox's camera angles shown face on with aaron rodgers where you could see the moment that he realized what was coming that he was able to diagnose the coverage and dictate the play based on what was coming and the offensive line played really well protecting aaron rogers. He was barely touched. I'm not sure if his jersey had a single grass stain on after the game. And you know when you're not getting pressure on a quarterback and you're running the ball really well and you have davante adams who's one of the best wide receivers and football. It really wasn't even a close match up. And you know. I know a lot of people in green bay throughout packers land. Were wondering this is the best defense in football and it has to make you wonder. If that's the way that the packers aaron rodgers played against supposedly the best defense in football. What are they going to do for the rest of the

Team wasn't anticipating him pulling him off of IR. But Kocharian said he had watched him run over the last few weeks and was really encouraged, He told Maia, you keep working and will keep winning. So if he can, in fact, the active Sunday he could play a big role and rushing the passer, shutting down the run and ultimately putting a halt to the Packers use of play action. And this time that ticket is for Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Unionism still revel in in this I'm so happy for our business. Definitely little emotional. Just thinking about what we've been through. Got me emotional with crowd out there today. Just still really happy about everything that happened today. So the Packers get the dub. Aaron Rodgers hasn't been to the Super Bowl since 2000 and 10. He won That one hears Packers reporter Rob Tomasky on what it would mean if Rodgers returned to the Super Bowl this season. Here's the thing. He's gonna win the n v P. Probably. So that's going to tie him with fire for three MVPs Farm went to two Super Bowls. Um, just the woman. The only 11 Rogers has been the one Super Bowl and 11. Is we send the supply to hospitals and nursing homes or care homes as we've done here that's where the vaccinations occur and those institutions will just vaccinate their employees high risk. Or not is. That's where the refrigerator is. As sarah said it's hard to handle stuff. They're not gonna go running down the street looking for the next category person to give it to so logistics as much as ethics or laying out priority groups drives distribution
Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers Preview: Goff To Start At Lambeau Field
"When i look at the rams i trust everything about the rams except the guy is going to have the ball in his hands. More time than anybody else. That jerry golf. He's a turnover. He's an accident waiting to happen and he's playing with a fractured thumb and the cold weather. And so i believe the packers defense although the not great i believe they can a few turtles out of him. Be a fumble or interceptions. Now aaron donald aaron says he feels great. Aaron donald play with a torn cartilage. Not me i had. That injury are in my ribs door to rip cartilage. Yup i tore my my real ended up when came loose my real extra protrudes a little bit now because there's not intact because the cartilage was torn. It was painful now. I don't know if anybody's ever had that skip. But sudden movements and aaron don lizzy sudden guy giving out a tooth gap and guy and even if he was. I mean just that third to feel that you don't realize how much you use your core until injure and then you realize the simple things brush not putting on your clothes brushing your hair. Imagine trying to play. Nfl football tried to move with three hundred pound man against wheel. Now you've got two hundred. Three hundred pounds man tried to move you against your will so it's going to be interesting to see not no. He's going to get the medication in there and and to calm it down in. So he's going to be very interesting. He might hip. Injury might not be as severe as my he might be able to tolerate more pain the not cooler. But that's not a very pleasant injury to play with in given that and everybody looking for the matchup everybody everybody would talk about. You know what they already talked about. Seventeen versus twenty. They will see jalen ramsey devante. Now i'm not sure how much jalen is going to travel now. I'm sure what jalen lineup was. I don't know if you've got to follow him in the slot. I don't know if he's probably left or right. But i've loved to see that. Because i know at some point in time. He's gonna have to come out on the side of with jason's zone and everybody wants to see that matchup.

Green Bay predictions: NFC divisional playoff vs. Los Angeles
"It we've been talking about. The announcement. Made sean mcvay announcing jared goff will be the starting quarterback this weekend for the green bay packers or four. The la rams against the green bay packers in green bay. Where right now. The packers on pregame.com. Six and a half point favorites. It's important to remember and it's obvious green. Bay's the number one see green bay. Is the one team the gutter by so the question is how to buy teams do in the playoffs. So if we look back and say okay. Let's look at the modern era. As i call two thousand twelve and beyond and that's because it's the first year four year after the new agreement that changed a practicing and all that things is. This really did change after that. And from twelve on teams off a by or with the by the playoffs who are not favored by a touchdown or more nine and five against the spread so a wonderful. Ats record for reasonably priced by team. The number one or in the past and the number two seed now the next game. We're going to cover and we're going to finish up. The rams is going to be kansas city. Who's the other by team. They're in a different category spread wise and it's different results in that game now. Why do i like green bay. And it is against the sharks. We talked about the sharps. Like the ramps and remember they like the rams plus seven and a half they like the rams a-plus avid now element mind is six and a half. So it's obviously. I don't have to go head to head with the sharps as much as i'm getting a slightly better number and i still disagreeing with them. Though in another reason is i think the rams are little bit overrated on. Defense doesn't mean i don't think they have a good defense. I think they have a top five defense. But i think this price is telling us because we know the offense is and all that good and we know. Jerry gov is playing all that well all the doubts about golf and mcveigh's questioned that's all given how they still the sharp side. It's a defensive matter or it's an anti packers. That's the only reason you could the rams you love their defense or you don't like the pack which it can't be about the rams offense it just can't be so even though you could make the case. Oh the rams can run. The ball aggressively in green bay struggled against that last year. Okay maybe but boy if you're one dimensional. That's tough and the reason. Though i think the rams d might be a little overrated is because if you look at their strength of opposition and we're talking about the opposing offenses now. There's been numerous times throughout the year that they didn't play the best quarterback that that team had throughout the year. So let's use the perfect example. Arizona cardinals were the seventeenth. Best offense in football show right about average so the rams playing that offense their defense against that offense. It looks like okay. The rams dominated an average offense. That's a good thing except the quarterback. Wasn't the normal starting quarterback for the car knows. It wasn't collor murray. It was a backup

"That was key this morning. Essentially saying look. The packers are coming off a loss. The last time they came off and embarrassing loss to the bucks they rolled over. The texans often embarrassing loss to the vikings. We'll see what they do with the niners tonight. They certainly appear to be in the driver's seat at the quarterback position. Let's talk about both teams and go inside the match beginning with rob demovsky who covers the packers for espn. Let's go priorities over. Pigskin i rob. What's the latest on all the packers and their covert cases. They're dealing with here so they had On outbreak in the running back room where. Ha dillon who was their rookie. Second round pick tested positive and therefore by close contact jamaal williams Is also now on the kobe. Listen here's the problem that those guys were the top two running backs last week because jones was out with a calf injury and jones is questionable for tonight and it does not look great for him to play tonight so they only have one other running back on the roster. That's tyler ervin. Who's basically they're kick returner they will probably elevate Dexter williams from the practice squad but it is not a lot of experience in the running back going into tonight. Rob tell us a little bit about aaron rodgers reaction to the team not acquiring a wide receiver before the three dead. Yeah great question. We got him On tuesday about two hours before the deadline and he had a great You know politically correct answer in the sense that hey if we ask somebody will work a if we don't well it's business as usual and at of course it was business as usual Because they didn't add anybody in our colleague. Dan grassy yano in his winners and losers piece on espn dot com puts it perfectly. He said no trade for the packers. Packers gonna packer. Because that's just what they see. Packers gonna pack your well said very twenty twenty of you. Speaking of espn dot com. Look for all your packers work on the nfl nation page. Thank you very much rob all right. Thanks guys thanks all right next up. Nick wagner his colleague. he's all over. The forty niners joins us this morning. Nick i know the forty niners are a five hundred team exceeding expectations despite being decimated but the fact remains they went to the super bowl last year so in relative terms what has gone wrong for them. This season relative terms being the operative there of course based on the injuries and and that obviously is where you have to start. If you can't ignore it it is completely wipe them out even just going into tonight. You know every single player that touched the ball of the nfc championship game. Which wasn't that long ago. It was january twentieth against the packers. Isn't going to be suiting up for the forty niners tonight. So that's where you start. I think the other part of the equation here guys is. They've just kind of struggled to regain the identity that they had last year where it was so built around being able to run the ball consistently well week to week and play great defense especially with that pass rush the pass rush of course has been hurt. The most possibly by injury you know. That's that's one that you could debate. I'm sure but everything that they do. The whole team spins off being able to pressure with those front four guys when they can't do it it changes everything they do defensively and it changes everything they do offensively to because they can't just rely on that group to lead the way. The offense and getting the job done nick. What is the future for jimmy g. and the quarterback position for the forty niners. Yeah it's it's the question of the day is probably going to be the question of the next six months or so j. It's it's it's one of those things right now where i think you have to look at it. Just through the scope of this and this is putting aside whatever you think about him as a player talent wise. Because i know he's polarizing in that way some people think you get the job done so people take you can't put that aside for a second and just look at the injuries and the money always follow the money Lester freeman told us that on the wire longtime ago. It's a great lesson but jimmy garoppolo is scheduled to make twenty seven million dollars. Gets the caf each of the next two years. That's a really high price tag anyway but it is especially when the salary cap is set to drop after this season and for a guy who at the end of this year. If he doesn't play another game which is a very realistic possibility. Well if only appeared in twenty three. I'm sorry we'll have missed. Twenty three games over the last Seasons and so. That's something that i think. The niners are going to really have to take into consideration. They can't sit around and flounder waiting for a quarterback who may not be on the field and and though that's kind of where the rubber is going to have to meet the road of course figuring that out. You're always going to have to find somebody better if you're going to move on from him and that's the question that they're going to have to really investigate over the next few months no doubt s after especially that lineage of quarterback that they've had over the years from montana to young who won super bowls. Jimmy g got to one may not have a chance to get to another by the bay. We'll see nick. Thanks very much for the perspective..

"Schefter on the shell pennzoil performance line to perhaps add a little perspective. Just the latest facility. Obviously the titans had a protracted absence teams like the colts. Were just down for a day. And has adam said the texans for the day. He joins us this morning. Adam anything more you can add from your contacts. Well good morning zubin. We've seen this happen before we see it happened on an almost daily basis. Now around the nfl. The colts are having practice. Even though someone from the staff of indianapolis has been sent home today to the covid protocols. The texans are dealing with that shutting down there facility today in working. Virtually we saw what happened in san francisco yesterday with the forty niners shutting down their facility the day before they host the green bay packers tonight on thursday night football. This is our new reality. This is the world of the nfl where it happens on an almost daily basis and whereas this used to incite some hysteria early in the season is the game going to be on. Is the game going to be played. I think we've come to understand how this works. The teams take the necessary precautions. They hoped to contain the spread of the virus. They hope the individuals are okay and the games go on by and large unless there seems to be some outbreak that is something the nfl struggles to control the games. Continue and i would imagine that will be the case in houston but obviously the league and the players association will be monitoring the situation. Adam you're correct gains. Do go on and speaking of a game tonight. The san francisco forty nine is green bay. Packers green bay had some issues of their own as well as the forty niners. What do you think in terms of the deadline trade deadline. What are you hearing that. The wind packers didn't make any moves on the offense aside a ball as well as defense key. I think there was a lot more. Talk to what the packers were doing than what the packers did. They usually are not an overly aggressive team around the trade deadline. They make kohl's like other teams. They do their diligence. Like other teams but matt leflore. The packers coach said this week that he didn't think anything got close. I'm gonna take him at his word. My understanding is that nothing got close as well and so there were conversations. They were checking on players. They were seeing if they could add help. But don't forget it looks like they're going to be getting back allen lazard here pretty soon so that will be an added wide receiver who is playing very well before he got her. And if you mix them in with davante adams and marquez valdes scantling all these other players devon green bay. It's not like they're bereft of weapons. Could they use more help. Shore what couldn't. But i don't think the packers got as close and i don't think there was much movement as there was conversation about what they were doing adam. Worst lezo matthew stafford. Here's what happened k. Basically on monday he came into contact with a non team member and then was deemed a high risk close contact to someone who did have the virus and so he was placed on reserve covert nine thousand nine. He's not practicing this week. He has to go through five days of testing worry tests negative assuming he tested negative which again will find out here in the coming days then he would be eligible to come off. The reserve. covid lists this weekend and play against the minnesota vikings. If one of those tests comes back positive being that he was in contact to somebody then it would be chased dangled. Who's taking the reps this week as the lion starting quarterback but as of right now i think they think they believe that they'll get back stafford this weekend and he'll be facing the vikings albeit in a week in which he didn't go through any practice surf the how teams pull this off. I've been hearing about the forty niners once. They shut down facilities. Hey we're going to everything. Virtually i was super matt. Stafford going through everything virtually. How does that actually work. Virtually and then just coming in and playing the game while they're going through meetings in zoom sessions the way that they would be going through meetings in person jay and so whatever they do in meetings in key would know that better than i but whatever. They're going through assignments and tendencies game plans. They're just doing it on the computer. Like so many of us are doing computers. We'd espn. We have production meetings on the computer instead of having them impersonal. Where we used to and it's the same thing for these football teams and so many people in society today. They're doing conference calls meetings. That would happen in person are being held. Virtually and so no different for these football teams. They're going over everything in these meetings in person it just on the computer. So what's the latest buzz around the cowboys. Decision to possibly start cooper rush or garrett gilbert the quarterback position. They want to go through the week. They wanna take a look at both quarterback they wanna see what they have garrett. Gilbert was winter team this summer cooper officers with the team in the past. Now my sense just a guess. A guess would be that. It's cooper rush because he's got a little bit more experience with that team and after seeing bend nucci a guy making his first. nfl start. On sunday night. I think they feel a little more comfortable in that regard. But again maybe garrett gilbert will impress them enough during the week to win the job bottom line here whether it's gilbert or rush this'll be the dallas cowboys fourth different starting quarterback in the past month. Now if you're starting four different quarterbacks. I don't care which team it is. You're in trouble and if you're doing your fourth quarter back against the pittsburgh steelers. Good luck with that like. That's not exactly a recipe for success in the nfl. Going to your fourth different quarterback against the pittsburgh steelers and tried to keep below keep alive your dwindling playoff hopes in the nfc east. Adam i know you hate me for this but i gotta do it and you're probably punch me when you see me what's going to happen. Jimmy garoppolo in san francisco now. Now that he's down for at least six games and in the future about thirty seconds here. Well you got a situation here. Where basically he still is going through opinions. If you need surgeries out for the year i think with the situation..

"Taking care prioritizing Dak Prescott it's an insult to Dak Prescott and what's annoying me about all of these pundits everybody that talks about this stuff on a I understand everybody's football knowledge. I UNDERSTAND IMPLICATIONS. I understand you know long term versus short term before year deal instead of a five year deal and Dak Prescott going back and forth because he wants to be a free agent after the fourth year. That way he can position himself to get a boatload of money down the line and Jerry Jones might be fighting all of that. All I get all of that. My issue is very simple. If this were Tony Romo same numbers. Same Reckitt same situation. You would have signed him by now. That's my problem and I'm not GonNa let that go because nobody wants to bring that up. That is the issue to me. The issue to me is that Tony Romo would have been signed. Dak Prescott came into the National Football League as a fourth round pick. Tony Romo was hurt. That Prescott played lights out during a preseason started off the season was flat out ball and people were contemplating Tony Romo coming back and everybody and their grandmother knew that this was Dak Prescott team even guys that were used to play and win super bowl championships for the Dallas cowboys. New Tony Romo's Day was up in Dallas because Adak Prescott. Everyone was willing to concede that but one man and that was Jerry Jones who would not budge who kept going in front of the media week after week. Giving it to Tony Romo could be back. We're excited we haven't given up. You know this is his team etc. Such you hesitate it until the Lebed. Our fifty nine th minute to give back Prescott. The keys to the to the franchise. And now that he's earned it leading..

"Don't deserve any credit for this whatsoever. They're late to the party. They were willing to exploit these kids at every turn and any kind of adjustments that they're willing to make right now is basically them being forced to do so not doing their own volition. They don't deserve any credit for anything that they're contemplating. I love what these players are doing. And here's the biggest reason I love it. Jay and Max. My mentality is very very simple. Everybody ain't equal no matter how we try to slice it. There's a level of respect and decorum everybody is human being should be accorded but to act like a superstar athlete. Coming out of high school should be recognized the same as the bench. Warmer is ludicrous. I take your take on. Espn RADIO ESPN news. Stephen it makes a lot of sense with that and I'm not here to suddenly praised. The incidentally for any of the name and likeness conversation but there is a real conversation about what all this means moving forward if the best of the best go to the G. League there's still a whole crop of kids that are going to go to. Ncw basketball and I can't stress that enough. Even all of the five star and four star recruits in the entire world. Decide they're going to go direct to the G. League. Let's acknowledge that if you're Duke? Fan As long as your school is recruiting better of the best of the recruits than North Carolina. You don't care and maybe get some of these kids to stay longer which allows fan bases to buy into it more. I think this can be a win for everybody across the board but I think we need a better understanding of exactly what the G. League is and what it means for everybody so for that. There's one front office insider. I lied on too much. I'm pretty sure that he's got me flagged on his phone. Because I feel like every time I text bobby marks. It's for some sort of clarity so I'm GONNA have bobby do this force on the Espn Front Office Center. Bobby marks joins us. Bob Hope you and yours. Thanks for the time man. I appreciate it and I'm trying to wrap my head around the G. League and what it actually is and how it works so walk me through from a front office executive my mind when you see somebody go to the G. League. What does that mean for your team? Yeah I mean I think from an MBA perspective. It's it's it's a select team of elite high school players that you want to go under the NBA umbrella and develop under NBA coaches and trainers and also have a financial component coming to them. Instead of going to college for a season. I think I think the hard part Jason from an NBA teams perspective is the evaluation period. Here right instead of seeing Jalen Green at University of Memphis for thirty games and the NCAA tournament during the course of the year or even during practise like the selecting of the G. League players is going to play what ten to twelve exhibition games during the course of the year. Maybe some other games against some international teams here. So I think there's a little bit of a A small body of work as far as That you're going to evaluate I think from an MBA perspective. I think They can the G. League in the NBA can get as many talented top fifteen blue chip prospect. But if they don't hire the right coach and have the right training staff. There is going to be a major failure. I mean that's that I don't care how much money they're paying these players. So I think we're kind of still in a little bit of a wait and see mode as far as what is the actual structure as far as this G. League select team is going to be. I think it's a lot different than you know team. Usa having a team up in Colorado Springs up select high school players. They were going to develop in there. Because you know that that process is going to work compared to Kinda wear where the G. League is right now. So let's take money out of the equation entirely without money being part of the conversation. Is there a true benefit to these players? Considering the coaching and the facilities and the brand recognition they can get in college basketball. What's their benefit than money of going to the G. League? I don't see if I don't see the benefit I really don't I mean I think I mean if you're asking me do I WANNA go train under developed under coach K. or coach Calipari or bill sell in play at Kansas Kentucky. Duke and know that these coaches have a proven track record even if it's a one and done To develop an intern. You know high school kids into prose. I mean that's that's the benefit for me if I'm advising a student rather than going to They're going to the G I think. The Financial Component is certainly. That is the appeal here. I mean that is if going to pay Jalen Green and number five hundred thousand can possibly get up to nine hundred thousand right. So that's it's a lot of money for for these type of For these types of players here instead of going the college route. But yeah if we remove the financial Element here I I would rather go the the college route and you know at least you kind of have the known with with these types of coaches we're talking to ESPN front office. Insider Bobby marks joins us. I take care take on ESPN radio. I'm Jason Fitz. So bobby if you had to make the choice between going professional somewhere else in the world is we've seen some players to go. G. League is there an advantage to one of those over the other? I think the hard part is that where the Australian model that we saw. Lamelo ball and our Hampton go. I think that's going to dry out but I think certainly with the with the pandemic that's going on that money is just not there Anymore I think the ability certainly stay in the states and train in southern California And E- here. I think that certainly has an an advantage. I think Jason. The interesting thing is is that just draft process right now and the ability to meet with a lot of kids and help them prepare for as you process that. That's one of the questions I've asked them. If this was in place last year and with a bigger financial You know incentive. How many of these players would have Would've gone to Julie Ground so college and it's it's been pretty unanimous. I mean every prospect. I've talked to would have probably done that. Julie Grau and Bypass College. If there was a financial incentive so I think having that that That team in you know certainly southern California Is a is a huge advantage there. We're talking the ESPN front office. Insider Bobby March. So then. What's the long term impact in your mind to college basketball of all of this? I mean I think the long term impact is based on does turn into four Julie smut teams. Does it turn into a division Are we going to lose the top twenty here I get it? I understand that it is You know it hurts that the NCAA for right. Now I didn't the. Ncaa is going to survive. I really do I think. Hey maybe we I heard you. You're into maybe we get back to the eighties nineties right where we get. Patrick Ewing staying at Georgetown for three years. Chris Mullin at Saint John's for three or four years. And we have these kids staying longer I think from a fan perspective. I am rooting for Duke. I'm rooting for Kentucky. I'm probably less rooting for Zion Williamson. I'm rooting for the success of that team. So yeah I mean I think initially it hurts a little bit but I think the NCAA will survive this. It's grace of bobby. I've got to ask you since we've got you. Obviously this is an incident conversation but given the pandemic World War in if you're running an NBA team today. What would your what would your biggest hesitation beyond bringing everybody back this summer for tournament. Oh my biggest hesitation is that all we do. We know for sure if this is if we're going to be able to just stop and start do we get you know into the second round here and all of a sudden we gotta shut down again. that's probably my biggest. My biggest concern. What level of concern is is competitive balance if one team is able to start training now but another state may not be opening their gyms up. Yeah I mean I think it's funny. He so with the Lakers. As far as you know that's a state that shutdown right now and they're they're they're trying to petition they open up their Jim when you know the NBA Lousy on on May eighth. Yeah I think. There's there's certainly somewhat of a competitive balance even if it's only four players in your gym and you're getting shots up and you can kind of get a little bit of ahead of the game from a conditions in points out teams like Brooklyn both La Teams possibly Toronto teams. That are that are not going to be open. You know in the next week. I think you're kind of a little bit behind the eight ball but it's hard right. I mean you know I mean how do you kind of make everything keycorp unless we just shut it down right now and we kind of open up things. Starting maybe on on June one instead of gradually dealing with the League is doing right now. You guys can follow him on twitter at Bobby March. Forty two as always great stuff Bob. We really appreciate your time. Hope you guys are say. Thanks for joining us. Thank ace appreciate it. Don't forget to tune into the last dancer behind.

"To me to have him as the quarterback for this franchise. This is a guy that has thrown for three hundred sixty four career touchdowns and just eighty four interceptions. He has a near five. To One. In touchdown to interception ratio he has not thrown double digits interceptions since two thousand and ten. That's super bowl year. Two thousand and ten to eleven interception that year the most of the subjects he's ever thrown in. The season was thirteen. He is the Creme de la Creme. He is elite in every fashion. And whatever you want to say about his personality or whatever it certainly doesn't negate the fact that the dude cast carried the franchise on his show to for a decade. He's gotten results far more often than not. I think he's been there like four or five. Nfc Championship Games. Plus he's a super bowl. He gets there one year and he's not going to back down from Amerada. Just he's not gonNA take this. We need to keep his feet to the fire. You gotta be kidding me. This is embarrassing to me. It really really is. It's not like his. Gm came out and said he didn't want to miss out on drafting Russell Wilson when Aaron Rodgers in his prime. And that's why he did it. I mean there's a real double standard here with Carson Wentz. Dan Orlovsky but you and I will discuss that. Maybe another day. Let me say this about Aaron Rodgers. The message being sent here. But that Leflore who I've been saying since last year seems not to like Aaron Rodgers. The message seems to be and he's not wrong. Nfl It's really more about the coach. "Packers insiders docks on the FOX in Waterford. Let's welcome in rich, Raymond Green Bay press cassette. He writes about the business of the Packers. I rich. Thank you so much for being with us. Hey, how you doing? Manso goodrich. We're glad that you're here. I wanted to start by asking you about coach McCarthy an event held earlier this week where he kind of played Santa for some kids. What was the demeanor of the coach the coach of anything of note to say? Well, I'm not sure that that was not a story that I wrote I it was one that I picked up from Kim remind our who is one of our reporters, and to be honest. I'm not sure that was this year thing that might have been of previous year. But it was. One of the radio stations up here at asked him to do it. And and their whole point was, you know, he always up for doing those kinds of things and always especially when it has something to do with helping the kids out. Hey, let me shift gears writing about Paul McCartney concert Lambeau Field. This has become a big deal for the Packers. And this one was red hot. It was sold out. All right. Well, they announced the sell out today, but pretty much all the tickets were gone by Tuesday. I think and people are looking forward to that. We had Billy Joel here two years ago, and in that one went over and this one is even bigger. Did this sell out faster than those other ones? Are there any way to measure how popular this concert? Ben. The Packers said this is the fastest non-football sell out. They've ever had it lambofield. Holy cow. Rich rhyming Green Bay press gazette is with us on WTMJ. I wanted to ask you if you have any update or any knowledge about the Packers hosting the draft. They've indicated rich that they want to do that any update on when that might happen or where we're at in the process or how that whole thing works. Well, it would be in twenty twenty two or after partly because are primarily because we are building a new exposition center here, which they expect to have done some time in twenty twenty one and the Packers think they need that space to help host the draft for a lot of the different things that go on during the draft. And they are reasonably optimistic that the NFL will give them a serious chance to do that. You know, I think the NFL understand it's going to be a smaller draft than it would be in some other places because we are a smaller town, but we have plenty to offer. It's not the Las Vegas strip. Exactly. But if you want to highlight NFL history world, what's a better place in Green Bay? Yeah. Rich. We also hear about the teams playing in London from year to year the five teams that we were going to host games either in London or Mexico City revealed see two of those teams on the Packers scheduled for next year. But it seems like the buzz for the Packers playing in London. Get squashed rather quickly because teams just don't want to give up their own home games. That is that's been the story so far and of those two teams the Packers actually host the raiders. So they're they're not an option either. So really just for before next year comes down to the chargers, and you know. The chargers have not made it official yet that they won't. At the Packers to go to London. But since I get from inside Lambeau is that they're not expecting it. Schwartz writer rich, Raymond with us on WTMJ. Russell Beckmann is the Packers fan who also on season tickets to the bears game this week. He has been battling to be able to wear his Packers gear on the sideline. This sunday. There's an update on that story too. Isn't there rich? Good job. You're going right down my list here. Yeah. Russell Beckmann sued. The bears because they wouldn't let him wear Packers gear as part of a bears season ticket holders reward program, which he is a bare season ticket holder as well as the Packers season ticket holder this this week he or last week they filed asking for a temporary restraining order to allow him to do that this Sunday while the rest of the case is still pending and the judge did not offer did not issue the restraining order. So the bears can still keep him out. Of that program. If he wants to make him changes jersey if he wants to wear Packers stuff, but the lawsuit remains alive and he intends at this point to continue to pursue it Freeman Green Bay press gazette. I end always enjoy your work rich. Thank you so much for being with us. Thank you have a great weekend. All right. You too right after the news the radio holiday show WTMJ's show. It's going to be playing coming up here. A special look behind the scenes that's coming up. Right after the news. I it's news about your money. This is the latest sign shown by China that it's a Konami may be slowing down. The data also underscored the rising risks to China's economy. To me as Beijing works to resolve an ongoing trade war with the United States industrial production in China grew by five point four percent in November on a year over year basis. "Former? Packers going to be joining us as well. Great debut. Enjoy we are on a Wednesday tomorrow. The titans play by the way against the Jags which looks boring, but I think the titans are gonna now win three straight. Go nine and six and face the colts and Andrew luck at the end of the year for a playoff spot. So watch the titans play tomorrow against the boring. Jags coming up, Greg Jennings. Alexi Lalas later in bass for last there's something that hasn't happened in the NFL in a decade. But I think that's about to change but more shakeup within the Packers coaching ranks. So let me get to it. So yesterday, I spent a significant amount of time on the show saying the problem with the Packers organization is they have no owner, and because they have no owner, no other team in pro sports has this. They have no owner. So the star legendary quarterback Brett farve or Aaron Rodgers become too powerful. Nobody can hold them accountable. I mean, it would Tom Brady there's a billionaire above him. Drew brees. There's a billionaire above him ally. Manning, there's a billionaire above him. Carson Wentz is a billionaire above him. Aaron Rodgers he's the richest guy in the state. He's a richest guy in the town. He's the most powerful guy. I think it's a problem. Nobody holds them accountable. So here's a prime example. Yesterday. Winston moss. He's an outside linebacker coach for the Packers. Not even the linebacker coach. We'll just give you the Outside Linebackers now a real powerful guy. Right. Former player he put out a tweet, which is completely inoffensive. I mean, it's nobody would be offended by this. So you went to Twitter, and he put out a tweet and the tweets has ponder this. What championship teams have great leadership period. It's not the offensive guru trend. It's not the same trend. Find somebody that's gonna hold number twelve and everybody in the building to a Lombardi standard. That's always said, that's it. And they fired him two hours later. They ran him out of the building. You gotta be kidding me. People are walking on eggshells..

"Because you know, one way or another, but we'll see we'll have much more on the urban Meyer situation as morning continues. Now, we know the Green Bay Packers routine that has an opening for a new head coach they have another opening as well as of yesterday yesterday. Packers associate head coach Winston moss who also coached Outside Linebackers with fired the firing happened after mosque sent out a tweet, and I'm going to show you the tweet right now. He tweeted ponder this. What championship teams have our great leadership period. It's not the offensive guru trend. It's not the safe trend. Find somebody that is going to hold number twelve that's Aaron Rodgers and everybody in this building to a hashtag Lombardi standard period. Hashtag losing sucks. So that was his tweet. And then just a few hours later. He tweeted the Packers inform me that they are letting me go hashtag Sang's Twitter. So let's jumping on this. Here we have done and Damien Woody who were with us. Let us start with that the notion that coach would tweet something like what he did. And then subsequently get fired seems impossible to imagine. That was not a cause and effect. What do you think of that? I mean, it seems like he was literally it wasn't like a sarcastic. Thanks twitter. Like he wanted to get fired. Like, how why did you send that weed out unless you want to get fired? That's not something you do why that tweet is a fireable offense in your view. I don't know that it's always a fireball offense. But you're essentially it's a veiled criticism of Aaron Rodgers starting quarterback potentially the best player in your team's history. That's not going to sit. Well, with what seems like someone who was loyal to McCarthy, and it's been much discussed the kind of friction between McCarthy and Rogers, and he was making it clear which side he's on everything that he said, and I I agree with us. I from the nonsense about being a Lombardi that to me seems like unnecessary nonsense. But he's right. Whoever needs to be the coach needs to be themselves held accountable. It needs to be able to hold the players and coaches account. You think he was right? I think it's essentially I mean look at look at coach ability to England. I mean, he holds from top to bottom. I think that's what makes you know. New England also hit their number twelve day. That's one reason why they're so good. Is he calls twelve. So everyone else falls in line as well as one to fifty three. But as a system you can't be you can't do that during the season. So where we need to take from this, though, Damien Woody that there is a feeling among some in that organization that Aaron Rodgers is not being held to the same standard as everyone else. Well, I'm pretty sure I mean, we in Rogers, and you have the accomplishment and the contract that's a big part of this the contract that Aaron Rodgers at you will be put on the south thing on the same platform. Did maybe the other fifty two thousand organs lead into that. Then the fact that they fire somebody who's calling that out..

"He might not be directly sitting in there on the interview. But you best believe if a head coach is on that radar when they go to dinner air is going to be at dinner, and he's going to be talking and they're gonna figure out. Hey, does this work is to chemistry here with these guys? Can they get along? I think you have to do that. If you don't you do yourself a disservice. Here's my question. The Packers don't have an owner. Yeah. Okay. So remember when Brady and Bella check had their rift Angelou who settled it Bob Kraft. Yes, sir. Okay. Uh-huh. When Jason Garrett and Dez Bryant and Dak had an issue who settled it Jerry Jones Packers have no owner note. So if you have this. Here's a weird thing farve and Rogers are the only two quarterback. Ax in my lifetime who've never had a boss. Let's be honest. It's a quarterback league. Not a coach Lee coaches important. But if you have air Brett farve, and there's a problem you getting rid of the coach not Brett farve Aaron Rodgers no owner in Green Bay is that it sounds weird to me. But it's like I think it's an issue who's ultimately Aaron 'cause Tom Brady can when all the rings in the world. But even he knows Bob Kraft could have him on the street tomorrow. I almost wonder is Green Bay almost they hand the franchise to farve. They've handed the franchise to Aaron do they have too much power. I don't know what they have too much power. But it is a unique situation, and is a situation that you can't you can't deny or hide it because you're right in every other situation is always one of the person who ultimately has the final say, so who's richer always in a quarterback, the coach isn't the GM the owner and runny means a lot to guys it does in. National Football League money manner is not necessarily how good a player. You are..

"To try and get the touchdown and save yourself position. Where only feel by and looked it got it here too. They atoms and they can't complete it. I mean, how would this? Jane that game. I guess we'll never know. But oh my goodness. Just missed it by just off the finger till there. They would. Try the onsite kick. They wouldn't get it. Vikings looking run out the clock. And they do that first down is all step on says goodbye to the Packers Packers probably say goodbye to the playoffs. Gray and the beard than I did few years ago. So on. Football mortality catches up to everybody. And you never wanna lose a season, especially when you feel felt great starting the season out about our prospects. But we're gonna battle the next next five weeks and put ourselves in position to to be in the conversation. Hopefully, it'll be enough. And like, I've always said you just got to get in. So we gotta win these five. See what happens? And it seems awfully unlikely. But it's not impossible. It's reporting out the twenty third time at the Super Bowl era of the Packers have a losing record through eleven games. The only one time rebounded to make the playoffs from that. But it was just two years ago. When Aaron Rodgers reeled off six straight wins to end the season that was a team that went all the way to the conference championship game losing to Atlanta. So it's a pretty simple question. The answer might not be all that simple. What is Green Bay missing? Why are they with this all time? Great quarterback. Why are they they're missing like healthy Randall Cobb? I don't know where he's disappeared to injured all the time and in a no show so to me, but you need more weapons than that. They bring in Jimmy Graham, they think they have the answer there. He's half the guy used to be to me..

"Toss to Jones running. What a start for the Packers. Now. Third down in. Baldwin touchdown blitz. Coming off the past. Dixon, perfectly laid out there by Russell Wilson. Twenty seven twenty four Seahawks over the Packers. I'm Greg Rosenthal alongside my fellow scientists Chris Wessely we're going to send it over to Dan hand this and Mark sesame and preview all the week eleven games in just a bit. But first we gotta talk about what felt to me like the first game of the end of the season. Like this was the first game where it it's a little cold there. It's two teams on the ropes. It's a really great back and forth matchup of tween too. Great quarterbacks. It was the first game of the season that felt late to me and the Packers ended up coming up really small at late in this game. Yeah. It was also a loser goes home game. And sure mathematically, the Packers aren't out of it. And you know, you can if you're a Packers fan, you can talk yourself into the run the table. I for the first time, I'm out. I agree with you McCarthy's got to go. The game management was horrendous. From the neglecting to challenge Tyler lock. It's thirty five thirty four yard completion. That ended up with the game winning touchdown to Ed Dickson. A couple of plays later to punting with four minutes left and just one time out remaining which meant Seattle could just pick up two first downs and end the game to the disconnect with his quarterback and situational football. Aaron rodgers. I have never in all my time watching football begged a quarterback to take a check down until this game. And Rogers just refused to take a check down and that situational football. I don't know how much of that is on his cock Scher Imperatore impr- improvise. I don't I can't say we're federalizing his playing style or or McCarthy's stale offense where the receivers just aren't open. I don't know. But Aaron Aaron Jones was open for check downs. He was at a couple of the late drives. It was a tough second-half for Aaron Rodgers. He said I'm the final throw. He threw into the dirt wide open receiver on third. Into that the ball kind of stuck to his hand on that play. And you would love to see McCarthy gopher. And that's why I do think McCarthy is going to get replaced the soothing. They don't make the playoffs is it's not just that they blow the time outs or you don't call the challenges. And you know, you're county on these isolation routes in these young receivers to get open on their own. It's that you don't have a feel of your own team. You don't have a feel of the game. That's in front of you the two previous drives at the Seahawks. Had they went up and down the field in through the Packers. Like, they weren't even there. They were down four starters. Total going into the game. The Packers defense lost Mike Daniels in this game. They lost Brienne laid lost another reserve safety in the game. They Kenny Clark was in and out at the end of the game. And so that's why okay we need to yards. Let's trust Aaron Rodgers. And I've made this point before on the podcast. But if you don't get the two yards, your defense that you think could get a three and out can still get a three and out and try to force them to to kick a longer field goal. So. That killed me. But it also killed me as someone who is wanting the Packers to make a run here to see their offense only score three points on five possessions in the second half. And in some of that was on Rogers. I gotta admit this is a game where he made two of the best throws you'll see all season in a few other great plays. But also like you mentioned was taken too many Saks holding onto the ball too long in a certain that's right house rooting for because I locked them up with not a good sign for any team. These days. A certain segment of Packers Twitter, and their fan base has been saying this all year that has been an issue and that we've been overrating Rogers, and maybe we have..
