What's the Deal with Digestive Issues and Anxiety?
"You know that you have anywhere from five to twenty five pounds of waste throughout your digestive tract gross? Yeah is that true? Absolutely absolutely I knew secretly. I weighed one hundred twenty pounds. Why are you laughing? That's a walk like in me like like time at one time so now imagine how much easier it would be to run away from a bear if you could instantly drop a bunch of that way got it. I'll look at you. You're so clever right at you. That's going to stick with me you. That's an and I kind of I think to when I'm working out and doing squats lunges with a ten pound weight versus without the way it is significantly new fart. Oh Geez no. But that's more exciting line of thought but now it's just a lot easier without the ten point eight. It's like as soon as I drop that weight like. Oh this is effortless like I could do lots forever or lunges forever and so obviously it makes sense to want to kind of our body to clear itself out if we need to run if we need to run dropping up to twenty five pounds is GonNa make us a bit faster when we're that much later. Yeah I remember when Panicked like was a was brand new and and sort of bewildering for me This is this is pre you by the way and understanding the stress response understanding that your body totally evacuates waste understanding why you sweat. Karen Young talked about this recently. We've talked about it in the stress response before but understand that. Your eyes dilate. I think right you're hearing something happens to the hearing your all the blood rushes to your internal organs away from your arms which they get cold and tingling understanding. Why your body has evolved to do this? An- Wi- is fascinating to me. Love that stuff. Yes so I mean. When we're in the midst of a threat you know fighting or running for our lives the only essential functions. We really need in. The face of that. Threat is breathing circulation and use of our big muscles so when we enter that fight or flight mode our body decreases blood flow Terai digestive tract and without that blood supply digestion. Just doesn't happen and so that's why we feel that nausea or that you know very significant urge to go to the bathroom. You know it. Tell me why this would happen. So I if I I feel like I just had a nervous life growing up so I always had that sort of like. Ibs Ish life. This is so gross. I'm never going to get married. That's you know that's fine. I'm uncomfortable but guys sorry or or ladies. I'm like one step away like one going out to the barons weapons anyway. I I always had that sort of like until I started. Dealing with anxiety look sorta how upset like permanently upset stomach anyway but something weird would happen to me when like after a panic attack like after it all like I would have like a rock in my stomach like it seemed like it. Yeah sure feeling like stomach yeah. Nothing would like evacuate. It just felt like I couldn't or or maybe this isn't related at all but the sensation of like you can't swallow as one thing you know like a lot of people have that but if I was eating something and then got nervous it felt like sat my chest like that's the muscles and Chen for sure this tension Chen and sometimes it can be if it feels like something is just sitting there Especially if it's like in your stomach can also be indigestion like your body's not digesting the food and I can feel a little bit like a rock lead like stomach and you may not get noticed like like it never really worried me. Maybe it's I always felt like us like some gross but it wasn't a sticky thing for me. I know this really freaks people out though. I mean a metaphor which is kind of that. Fear of throwing up is yeah. That was how that was one of the ways my anxiety first manifested when I was younger and when I'm stressed the first thing the first place it shows up is my gut for some people. It's muscle tension headaches fluttering. That stuff is kind of down the line for me. The first thing my body's first. Hey you know. I'm Kinda stressed and overworked and burnt-out and slow down. Its I Q. Is that indigestion? Heartburn them bit just unsettled. Nece and in my stomach's now that you say that. Whenever I'm like stressed to the Max I do get some especially night like heartburn. But it's on me the whole thing with anxiety like it's all of US experienced probably similar. Things is just what we what gets sticky right. It's kind of what we misinterpret so you. It's like digestive. Upset is just digestive upset for like that. It's just sort of like well. Yeah for me. It dumps towards. Oh my gosh. If anyone heard I think it was episode thirty to remember when like one of my it would jump to all my gosh. What if I put my pants like what is i? Put My Hanson. What if I throw up front of everybody like it wasn't just digestive upset? Okay so sorry. In the moment it feels like absolutely mortified in the worst thing. That can happen and unacceptable. Like now when I look back it is. It's funny and it makes people laugh and that's okay I'm cool. I'm cool with

Beverages and Your Body
"So Debbie Let's let's go through some of these liquids kind of one by one. Let's start with with the most basic liquid to humans water. How much water should we be consuming daily? If you think about an easy way to measure it would be taking your weight in pounds and dividing that and half and that's how many fluid ounces you would consume on a normal regular basis so not extreme exercise exercise not extreme environmental conditions. So if somebody is wow one hundred twenty pounds and there's sixty kilos so or whatever whatever so seventy ounces. Oh my gosh. I have so much more I thought I drink plenty of water but that makes me feel like I need eight fluid ounces in a cup and when we when we you say cup we mean like Measured Cup and most people will pick up their glass. Remember glasses can be like ten twelve or if you're looking at you now. Whatever this is I have in front of me books tall or something you know they can get up to sixteen ounces for glass sitting in front of you so it's not like you have to have eight of those right Do people drink water out of glasses anymore. Do you realize that he did do at all. It's always out of a water bottle but like I said you know I'm Pretty Brennan. Dan Class I just find it very interesting because there's always been from what I've heard like a set standard amount of water during the day but I've never heard it had somebody break it down by. I bought Biwati way but that kind of a perfect sentence. Well my gosh in clinical. When I used to work in a hospital we would? Yeah we would do it. Based on anything from their you know their condition and they have surgery and all these other things So if you're looking at just an average person that doesn't have all lows lab works and things like that. Well you know. Take your body weight in pounds divided in half Pluto's it that's a pretty good start right you'll find other people. That's it's not enough for me like I really am thirsty. I drink more Some people will drink too much and flesh out more of their vitamins and minerals. So then you go kind of by urine color and try to get that Nice Pale yellow that amber deep and it's not like just tinted water because then you're probably the drinking too much. Yeah that's that's what I'm all. I'm like constantly gauging. That and I need to drink a lot. More water is what I learned this morning. They're doing great Downing Gallon. Itunes Ooh no you know you need to electric. Let's keep them in the right so interesting because there's such a healthy balance he never really think about it with water. It's just it's just like you can't toxication so much of a good thing. So how. How does shrinking water kind of affect your overall health or can it the same with not having enough so how does proper hydration? Why is it important? Kind of view. Shuna cell in your body uses water whether it's for the cellular processes assesses and metabolism but as a whole fluid. You've got water in your blood supply. You've got water in your back of your are fluid in your eyeballs in your Bursa sacs of your joints transporting nutrients with your blood. Your using your lymphatic system which is another liquid transport so you really have it critically everywhere. I'd say probably if you feel my hair my hair dryers news no water in there. But I'll consider that outside bodies out. So what happens when you get when you don't get enough water. Hydration Yeah Oh man Initially really you can no lack of concentration and you just don't feel you don't feel right. Can you get headaches because I feel like I definitely it makes it can affect long longer term or more severe if you're talking about percent body weight loss then it's GonNa Affect your fluid volume put pressure Asher on your heart to pump out more beats to compensate for the lack of the volume so it can get quite significant. But that's more like say in rapid heatstroke right. Yeah I get really tired. I notice if I'm not drinking enough water I it's the weirdest thing I've noticed lately if I'm not entering enough water I'm tired I'm more tired. And then I can have a whole bottle of water or glass water whatever it is and yeah. It's great up. I think you feel it in your head had quickly and then maybe even your I mean without water. You're going to get constipated right. I was going to say like how quickly because I think oh I'm dehydrated and I've heard like you're almost hydrating for a day ahead of time like rather than drink a glass of water and you're gonNA start feeling a lot better immediately but I wonder that's still seems like a pretty quick remedy because liquids absorbed better or quicker found the body. Yeah and there's something called Osmo Lara's morality. Sorry it's probably it

"And now she came back this week for follow. I saw her. I examined her she's in remission. She's doing great. She's perfectly fine. The cancer is not to be seen after five treatment shed at the other place yet weeks and weeks of chemo years and years of chemo. It didn't work with us five ten minute treatments and she's in remission doing well. And I'll see her back probably in about three months, but she has my phone number two and two choices. And she's welcome to call anytime. She wants you are too. If you want that booklet or DVD or appointment now, we're talking about a seventy year old woman. She's widowed. She has two children. She came with her daughter his mass in the right upper portion of the breast. It's about two centimeters about an inch. It was seen by mammogram is woman who had a melanoma in the past. She has diabetes. She has had the first mammogram her life at age seventy. Wow. And she got a chest x Ray, and she had a brain MRI, and she had this by upset in the brass. She's one hundred eighty eight pounds. She's five foot four, and I examined. Her and there is a two centimeter mass in the upper outer portion of the right breast, and I saw her and we spoke about all the options, and we staged her up to make sure the cancer at and traveled it added. And now she wants to be traded. And that's the work that we do. She wants to keep the breast. She's adamant about that. And I agree fully with that to treat breast cancer to keep the breast when I came to New York decades ago ninety seven percent of women were losing their breasts at all the big hospitals. Many still do sad to say. And this woman wants it. A woman can choose whatever she wants. But the doctor pushes something. I don't agree with that. We encourage all the options in different patient wants to save her breast, and many do I believe most do then we can treat this woman and most likely she will be successfully treated, and there's no evidence to spread over cancer. So treatment for breast cancer is quick. And sweet. And we see many women with newly diagnosed breast cancer who see many women with cancer. Sometimes women think it's a few women who. Think that if they leave it alone won't bother them. But cancer has it's own agenda and often cancer wants to take over your body and hurt the woman, and we see women with advanced breast cancer is also so if you have a lump in the breast, and he'd been afraid to go to your doctor afraid of that big hospital, you might wanna come in to us at thirteen eighty four Broadway Broadway and thirtieth street and get checked out. That's what we do every day. If you have a Lumper suspicion of cancer, give us a call at two and two choices and talk about a woman who is fifty two years old. She was born in Puerto Rico. She has six children she came with her daughter, and she has painful endometrial cancer. Endometrial cancer is cancer from the lining of the uterus. Uteruses where the baby grows in the lining is what bleeds or what's lost every month administration? The rest of it's a big muscle could push the baby out she diagnosed a year ago when she had vaginal bleeding. She had vaginal bleeding, and she had a biopsy of the lightning which called the. D And C D demons dilate. The cervix is services about him part of the uterus. Incur- Todd drains kind of a scraping of the lining, and she was found to have cancer. She refused surger that and she had standard radiation and standard chemo, and and they gave her more chemo, but just has an work the cancer's progress, she has a big mass her weight was one hundred eighty pounds down to one hundred twenty pounds. She's lost sixty pounds in a year. Wow. She's an ex smoker. I examined her hand distended abdomen chest metastases causing pain. And these are the kinds of issues that we deal with every day and most likely we can stop the cancer and stopped a pain. And that's another reason why so many people come to us to stop the cancer, stop the pain when standard treatment, and I can tell you that Fred Dmitro cancer uterine cancers. Standard treatment isn't very good. It is very helpful. This is the work that we. We do every day here at thirteen eighty four Broadway. So for patients like her who've had standard treatment, we often are able to help are often able to stop the cancer for that woman. I spoke about just before with newly diagnosed breast cancer. We also treat many people with newly diagnosed cancers before they get caught up in the system and good treatment. That is viewed as less desirable by each patient. So yes, there's many reasons about coming here. You can read about it. You can call we have questioned, but the best ways really to meet in person at thirteen eighty four Broadway about a man who is sixty seven years old born in New York City, he urinate, s- ten times a day frequently at nighttime is back pain leg pain. This weight is one hundred forty four pounds. He'd never smoked. I examined him as prostitutes, markedly enlarged. So it came to us because he has a big enlarged prostate urination ten times a day back pain leg pain. This is a writer for one of the biggest newspapers in New York. So yes, he's a journalist and prominent, but he's got a prostate out of control and symptoms out of control and has come to us to get the scoop on his prostate of the symptoms and many men do many men come to us because they have prostitutes are symptoms wake up at night to urinate or other issues, including sexual problems talking about a sixty two year old man who's from Jamaica. He's married is a black, man. And we know that the black community one in six black men will get prostate cancer. What in twenty three would die or price a cancer? We emphasize that because we're trying to find men and diagnose men and treat men before the cancer gets out of control, and especially in the black community. But we treat men of every persuasion, especially in Jamaica. I was told by the government there that they have the highest cancer right in the in the Caribbean Community. The cancer rate is really. Out of control. This is a man who's PSA would from four point six last year to five point seven he had a biopsies another Gleason seven cancer. So luckily, he was found when he has low risk cancer Gleason, six PSA five point seven. He was seen by surgeons..

"I was like an, I've definitely live in my first audition, and so I walked it. I was like, we are the same height. So funny this, this, this idea, I it's a whole. It's a funny. It gives me a million thoughts really quick as a sidebar and the thing about like making about me. I really like a tweet recently. That was I do that same thing when somebody tells me something, especially if it's like an advice thing or they're going through something. My instinct is always going is to go like, this is an experience I've had. That's like that in this. Yeah, in my brain, unlike I want to reach into my bag of experiences, empathize with you and give you some context, so you don't feel loan. And so just to help or whatever. And I've realized I have to mitigate that because some people, it's like, that's not good listening like your million about you, but but you kind of figure out why find the same way of being like I wanted. I always want to qualify what I'm going to say. And I, I want to go at some backbone of being like, oh, well, this is something like obviously not the same, but this is kind of like my experience thing in a lane similar. So I would just say it just fully depends on the person like complete like my front. So my friends, I'm taller than most of my friends and my friends right cut, excuse me. Got so think bubbly beverages. I'm like, there's another so many. I don't like the feeling roving Carbonell, but so I my my best friend is she fucking she's like. Far-righ to Ishmael me if I've three ish and anytime she'd like be talking about the guy that she was seeing his super q like he's like, he's Sydney tall, but if I pictured you to next week other, he might be taller than you, I dunno but like everything. So relative only even sweating. I'm five almost one like it doesn't matter. Like, oh my God, there's a million things about this because this is a weird one. It is a weird like last bastion of acceptable like body shaming or something like that agrees. Everyone could go like I only guys over five, ten if you were like I only date women under one hundred twenty pounds you'd be like, what is wrong with you? So first of all, that is kind of weird, whatever. I don't think it's unjustified in the sense. Like like I always think like universal Justice of like yin, Yang stuff. And I'm like, well, patriarchy is really like beating the shit out of women in most ways. So I don't think it's like a big deal to go like it should be equal like, you know what I mean? I think it also depends because my boyfriend is more uncomfortable with I'm taller than him than if I'm wearing heels. He's older than me when I'm not wearing heels. He's more uncomfortable when I'm taller than him than I am about it. Well, this hosting it totally depends. I think it does get into that thing of like we were talking about earlier about feelings can't really be right or wrong. They just are. So especially when you get into like bedroom stuff and like sexy feeling stuff, it's like you can't. It's not like you can politically correct defy your weird sex drive feeling like you're going to like what you like looking to like what they like,.

"Is coming on later in the show. I'll update should make on that. Because there were a little bit of a chain. Okay. Definitely a change this week over the last couple of years. So we'll get a Heisman update coming up number one Alabama, by the way is going to be hosting a ranked team. Finally, they're taking on Texas AM. Boy, Alabama looks good right now, they look on beatable. I mean, I think they could beat the bills. People say they will. I say like, you know, that you see these you know, when you get those super college teams every once in a while. And you know, they're loaded with first round picks and everything else. You know, they can't though right book. I'm not so sure this time around let me ask you this on the bills are seven sixteen point dogs to the Vikings. If you're a bad, are, you a gambler, do you? I don't get I I'm not either. Would you give the sixteen and a half points? Or would you take the sixteen points? Buffalo at Minnesota at Minnesota. I'll take him you're going to take the dog. Yeah. How are they going to score against that? Minnesota defense. I think I think because it's more along the lines of that's just a lot of points in NFL game. Right. Minnesota could handily win. We could know they're the better team. But maybe they win by fourteen. They win by thirteen. I mean, I I would just Josh Allen coming in. Maybe he makes a couple of plays or is the end of the game road against Minnesota's defense you want if you ate dinner like normal human beings. I would say put a dinner on it. But you don't eat. I'd never hide you food. I do eat. In fact, what did I have this morning oatmeal? No that was during the week. I actually branched out today. I had like an egg white on a English Muffin house. Did you buy this? Or you made it by everything I didn't make it. I don't cook. Anything? Where did you where did you buy this Star Wars? Starbucks says where I did that. Okay. Yeah. And then you won't eat again into a six or seven I'll probably grab IT for lunch after we get done here. And then tonight will be sort of light. What do you mean? I first of all you act like like one hundred twenty pounds. I'm not I no I don't act like that. You're one thirty three. Thirty three. I'm just saying. So no, I I mean, I look Minnesota's clearly the better team. But you know, how the NFL is men. Josh Allen can come in this game. He cannot they can have some plays constructed that skill set. Maybe you don't have enough table on if you're in Minnesota, and all of a sudden you look up and again you dominate the game you clearly win. But in the fourth quarter, they rally for ten points. The next thing, you know, you don't gamble. I agree with you. I mean, there's always those lay covers where it goes to show these guys in Vegas. No their business. Oh, they make their in business. Well, now has his regular show here during the week on the Fox Sports radio network, and I've had many many conversations RJ bell is the best. Because what he does. He he he does a consensus of everything that's going on in Vegas. He's not just lean out one person. He's got all these trans and everything else. And and then he started to get a little more into wider making money hand over fist. They get the business. Yeah, you're right. But I still just that that that's a lot of points. That is a lot of points. So looking at some of the college football today, this is sort of that last week where he got a lot of these non conference games. We we got a few conference battles today. But there's still a lot of those one-sided non conference games. I always feel like next week. We're starting to get into the meat of it. Or we start getting some of these showdowns and really the big story so far in college football have been all the big schools that hire new coaches expecting a complete turn around and just the opposite happened in fact mission. Dessau? I think that was no I think he dropped it. So Michigan trying to still passing by the way under Brassica forty six three in the third quarter. No mercy Jim Harbaugh. I don't blame him though. I mean Jim Harbaugh is trying to score some points self after that opening loss to Notre Dame. This is still a program your program at Michigan that needs to get you just you just said it it's it's really going to start getting real for teams next week. So yes, you can say they're still throwing on Nebraska. This is let's run these plays and see what works. Let's get guys and good rhythm. And you know, and you see, and you mentioned if you look back. I I was watching over the last few days, I've been watching a bunch of these old documentaries. You know, the you and all these other things and the BAAs and all that many stays were putting it on people. Oh, yeah. One of the things Johnson said was any reference that he said a lot of people got mad because we were smacking of some teams and they did that to to to Notre Dame coach before Lou Holtz. I forgot his name. Forgot to no it was Gerry Faust. And they they blew out Notre Dame like v. Everybody's saying, you know, he's on his way to seven was a score. Did he's on his way out. Why would you do that? And Jimmy Johnson brought up a great point. He say look throughout that season. He said we lost to all of a sudden Boston College Flutie. They lost the Maryland gay lawyer. Yeah. And he he mentioned there's a couple of games where they barely won. Because. Kind let things back. So he said I taught from then on I said, we're gonna play hard. And he said I can't help it if my fifth string defensive backs are getting interception by fifth-string running back still running for one hundred fifty yards on you. So boy being if you're Michigan. Look, my bad Nebraska that you guys are having a rough season. I apologize Scott frost, but we got some things we still got to work on. And and I have no problem rolling up on anybody. If you see, you know, then stop us. I mean, I I never ever had a problem Bill Snyder. When he went to Kansas state. They were the worst college football program in the country for a century, literally the losing his college football program of the century. And he was on the receiving end from the Oklahoma's in Nebraska's seventy six now all these beat downs year in and year out when he finally started putting a good team together. He started rolling it up. I mean, he was you know, am beating week teams. You know, fifty eight nothing forty nine nothing. What's wrong with you? Man. He goes, what do you mean? What's wrong with us? We were on the receiving. What we're not supposed to roll it up. But we have the means to roll it up. I applaud that. I said, look I have no problem rolling it up. I do not. I don't know if we'll ever get to Georgia Tech Cumberland two hundred twenty two to nothing circa nineteen sixteen a whole different world back then. But no, I don't have any problem with rolling up these numbers. And because we are still basing who's in a playoff based on performance as opposed to actually winning it on the field. You have no choice. That's the point right there. Michigan were to beat Nebraska was the forty nine three. They beat them forty nine to twenty eight then that could come back to haunt them in the long run exactly what their handle business. You have to go ahead and smoke people in again to me. It's the kids know what's going on. We oftentimes for oh, it's for the kids the kids are they know they can be down. They know if you're if you're you know, you these UC Davis and these small schools, and you're going to play these bohemians, you know, what's going on. In the first quarter. You're like man, maybe there's a chance maybe the and after that you're like man who am I going out tonight with what's her name again Yemen? Take her out. I hope she likes pepperoni pizza. You already thinking about what you're gonna do the night thinking about the next game. 'cause you know, you're going to play Alabama you're going to play Ohio State, and you're gonna get smoked they know that going in. And then they try to sell them. Like is this a competitive most of the time? These universities are doing it for the paycheck. So stops on act like it's anything, you know, if it's for the money for the paycheck, then don't worry about how I'm being you just take the money and get on a body here, by the way, there's a game going on today. This was one of those east coast. Hi jobs. I'm Boston College. So they were undefeated three know AJ Dylan like leading the nation in rushing on the road against winless Perdue three and obesity on the road against three. Oh, and three Purdue. And everyone's talking about BC, they might be a threat in the ACC this year. Let me check the score ten minutes to go in the game. Thirty to seven Purdue Dillon has. Fifty nine yards on nine just mentioned Doug Flutie. All right. There's still hope that has. Minute. No, he's gone. Was a miracle worker the top ten college football players of all time. I we're in the Geico Fox Sports radio studios. Much more on some of the big games come out this afternoon in college football coming up next..
