How Apple Is Getting You To Think Less And Spend More
"The knock on apple is that it's no longer innovative and it's phones have gotten boring a year ago. The company stock was slumping and in sales in China. Were down. Well guess what since then the stock doubled and people are buying more of those boring quote unquote. IPHONES Scott. What what do you make of all this? Let me in the IPHONE. Eleven got less expensive. Compared to the ten are and I think that just became you know low more practical but I mean I think it's not just the phone is we know it's like the air pods and the watches and also like the. The lower cost apple watches things like the the series three It's all that collected stuff. So let's let's start with the iphone though. You reviewed the latest iphone and it was. It was a little cheaper. It's like fifty dollars cheaper. It's still seven hundred dollars so it's not like an impulse bye or anything like that but from your impressions. Did you think it was more polished as you think it was a little bit better. Is there something about the phone that you think really incited a lot of people. Oh to buy it. This time around I think battery life. I think that that That made an impact for people The idea the battery life would be better and get over that Hump and when reviews were showing that I think that mean camera matters but you know I always think that the changes are pretty incremental but it seems like you know this generation around things like that white angle things is like the night vision mattered but I am pretty surprising to me. I'm really surprised I was watching that. Presentation in September first revealed fielded and it seemed like a snooze to me seeing and granted. This is just one quarter. This is just one quarter and a lot can happen over the course of a year but record revenue in profits. That's exactly what we used to say about apple just basically like clockwork every single quarter. I just kept doing better and better. and was it the iphone six when they came out the blew the doors off like they absolutely crushed it so it does kind of feel like they're getting their Mojo back foreshadowing. We're on that to come right Yeah it is surprising to me too and I don't really have anything really concrete to say about that because it feels like they're continuing the same path that they're always been doing which is like these as low instead of it. Yeah incremental interesting sometimes You know more obvious sometimes more in the weeds updates each year. And we're not doing. We're not dealing affordable. We're not not doing a foldable. Doing Gene we've been on his show multiple times saying. Hey this is getting a little stale this is getting already dusty. Apparently people are pretty comfortable with what their expectation is. If anything apple is really good at giving you a product that works that you know how it is and maybe not changing it up that much. Make accents I'm frankly I am a little surprised but hey the numbers are the numbers. It's been a very practical product but it's also funny because in the last year I was thirteen in had a lot of bugs going on so twelve to thirteen. I feel like we've had the incremental updates things that have been a little wonky about it so I i. It's it's interesting because when that all shakes out you're like everything else it's okay but I do think there's going to be said for the sick the consistency in the product line. Because I look at like the five G. Steph. Okay but particularly the foldable stuff regardless of whether you WANNA buy one it's also the prices so oh hi. Sally totals so price sensitive. That like you gotta get those prices down more so particularly for apple more expensive. I don't WanNa more expensive less expensive. And there's like the talk about whether the iphone nine or the se to in the spring to go against like a pixel for a or these other more affordable phones like. That's the direction action that needs to happen for apple so like don't look I wouldn't look like up the ramp but WANNA look to like I. I totally down. Obviously from a consumer perspective. I totally agree. We have a lot to cover so. Let's keep moving The MAC and the IPAD revenue is down in both of those lines so all is not well an apple world. That's worth mentioning that. So what what are your thoughts about that you kind of feel like You know the ipad really still facing challenging times. What what do you think that they can do about that? It was a weird year for that stubble. First of all there was no IPAD new IPAD pro last year and the new IPAD. The IPAD came out. Were these iterative. Like ipad mini and then the you know now in newer version of the base IPAD and they still haven't resolved the difference between the IPADS and the rest of the MAC line which like Microsoft's done awhile ago exploring surface purpose and things like that. So we've been waiting for that apple's just taking its time with that you know some people think that's fine other people really think that's not okay. I get really annoyed at all the ways that the ipad Hi pad is not my full everyday machine. They're not to say that it can't do a lot of other things on a daily basis. But then you have to use it in connection with another divisive lying around. Yeah so you're paying a lot of money for that for an IPAD. Okay but then you know you get an ipad pro territory where you want that to do everything so I I still think that needs to be resolved and then for the X. It's like you know the keyboards the like. They had something or effect with the air a a long time ago and now they're just like all these different versions I feel like and then people have issues about one or the other and I've never liked the touch bar so I I just feel like get all needs to be kinda redesigned familiar similarly I foot touching their get rid of the touch bar so let's in the IPAD. Yeah so this this is the sweet spot especially specifically for this quarter was wearable and services when we talk about services that includes the APP Store Apple All Music Apple Pay I cloud for wearables. It looked like the bell of the ball was very specifically airports. WanNa call out. A Bernstein analysts because apple doesn't doesn't provide this information at Bernstein analyst predicted air pods generated about six billion dollars in revenue for Apple in two thousand nineteen nearly double the twenty eighteen level. I mean like are there you look at wearables a lot. Are there any other wearables that come even close to the air pods. Why do you think they're so popular? Where where where did this come from? I remember wearing them and having an awkward. Look on my face into sixteen. How far how far things have changed? I mean well. First of all they're headphones so like it's a very impractical market so there's always an interest in that stuff but it really spiked in and drove it forward But I think it starts from there because it's a lot of times you think. Well what am I gonNA do with blank. I going to use it and like you'll use headphones especially if you can slide them in your pocket easily so I think that are already like made them. I'm really functional and really interesting and they work I never pods too. I was super function resistance at airports for a long time because I had all these other headphones lying around that I got every single single time I bought a new apple phone and You know I eventually just decided to spend the what is one hundred thirty dollars for the original air pods and I use them them all the time. Now they are the really fits very basic function. This is the apple promises. Is that if you buy the product you're going to be spending more money on it but it works and you don't have to bother with all sorts of nonsense. Yeah it did a really good job of like Bluetooth stuff is annoying but it. It doesn't perfect all of it but it really smooths. WHO's over a lot of that stuff to make it the least annoying version of that right? So that's what you need to like. Pick it over plugging something plus the disappearance appearance of F.. Phone Jack Rowley. Like trying to figure out whether you want the lightning or the dangle and then you just going to get the air pilots and it connects to that and it's sort of like it's not far off from a from a really expensive battery case accessory type of thing it's upwards of that it's a hunt one sixty rain. I was surprised at how many air pods people have been you know buying the pros and have you noticed people upgrading to the pros because that would actually be seeing a lot of money in apple people in the city wearing them you know. I've seen the pros but New York City is its own stories. You know But it was like an air. pod City It really is. Yeah what does it mean to see like New Jersey commuter wearing them it's a different As a subset. But I also think like there's something about the price of that that like lines up with the price of what the IPOD used to be like It's like accessory. I always think accessory prices like what will you buy as an add on in the watch has been getting in that zone to to like apple. Watch game the one nine nine. That's like the Amazon Echo Prize. It's like the marriage not exactly but I hear what you're saying. It was like one ninety nine. It gets closer to being a useful add on useful accessory where it's not super cheap by Apple. It is less expense for like two hundred or less as the part where I go. That's a lot of money but like I could maybe spontaneously think about going for something but more for just for me but getting to more within that gets into like its own device. Its own like commitment so I maybe it's something of that like they found some some zone because the Apple Watch at like four hundred dollars ars is its own consideration like. That's a lot of money. Okay so like you creep down to like one nine eventually go to less compete with like fitbit's and others I feel like the series. Three is what people are really interested in lodge like in the in the suite. Siebel one on the other one like that's the price you'd one eight four
Google Stadia Launch Review
"Reviews Google. Stadia are out one day before it launches for founders on Tuesday November nineteenth and the consensus is works better than expected but still not quite good. Enough there's some noticeable lag which is not a problem in slow paced games but may or may not cause issues on shooters just depending on how. Oh sensitive you are to it. Ars Technica Kyle. Orleans said it worked fine on Ethernet for him but was inconsistent to the point of aggravation on on his wife anyway. most Oh said it kind of feels like a Beta Verges Sean. Hollister said it felt more reliable than similar services. He's tested but does not compare to a high end console or PC DC and and gadgets. Jessica Condit said I wouldn't play any of these titles competitively on stadia but the services find enough for a relaxing evening. If you don't remember. Google Stadia has upped it. They added some games. So they're gonNA have twenty two games at launch for one hundred thirty dollars plus ten dollars a month plus twenty to sixty dollars per the game. It's interesting the the whole sort of like okay. It's not snappy enough for competitive gaming but it's totally fine and for a fun relaxing evening. Who are the people who want one and not the other Yeah it's very of course I mean mobile gamers I guess sure. Yeah I mean I would probably be one of those people who's like I don't i. Don't care about the snapping -sarily if I've got like three games that I like and I wanNA play a lot but just I wonder what you know. WHO's going to be diverted from from from getting Google stadium knowing it's a little bit sluggish? Yeah well even if it doesn't actually apply to them it's kind of interesting because it will diverge personal me like I. I actually do game and and that Noel Second Response Response Time is important. But I don't know if you remember but I was on when stadium was announced and we we had talked about one point and I'm like Joe Streaming Guy it's been doing doing screening for years and I was amazed I was for the Beta was amazing because there's just a few people on it but I was amazed by the sort of overall. Let's just go out there and do it attitude stadium. It's hard like that stuff is hard and in and user managing user complaints when users really don't understand like how streaming is affected by all the various the pieces between the server and your game controller. They were. They're taking a huge gamble Microsoft by lake coming forward. So it's it's it's going to be kind of interesting. This is the same crowd. Yeah that was like complaining about that season. Game of thrones being too dark. It's like well. I I think to answer your question Sarah Anybody who games on an older other xbox or playstation especially if the playstation three or xbox three sixty which there still are some people will be fine with this that. I got a peek at it this weekend and my feeling was for me. It's fine like I'm not a competitive gamer. I'm not really attuned to the leg. So those of you who are competitive or think you you know your competitive are going to notice it. I imagine most people aren't what's a bigger problem is what ours tecnicas Kyle. Orland pointed out. And that's to your point rob rob which is there something in his Wifi that caused issues that he didn't see an Ethernet and a lot of people are GonNa say this doesn't work. It's your fault. Even though it may be the router setting or their equipment or something else on their network slowing it down because there are so many variables there. Yeah Yeah. It's I think eventually chilly. They're going to work this out. I mean this is the same problem net flicks at very very early on. That's true stuttering and all this stuff so so getting those. CDN CDN's in place and they've got the got the bucks to do it. So
AirPods Pro Hands-On Review
"Odds yay air pods on monday apple announced the new air pods pro there should be a hit because regardless of how you personally might feel about air pods the pods i managed to get a loaner pair of air pods yesterday as part of our i to answer them right now i will say that these are what the first airports should have been what your buds should be an how others have approached ear buds with soft clunky and feel like they have an awkwardly long stick relative to these the things so that it can lock you into its ecosystem so now when you go to the control center on your iphone connected air pods right from there and if you long press on that volume bar it you can't over bluetooth but then you're not using the super special custom chip called the h. one better with your apple stuff interesting oreo what are your thoughts on these new air pods pro oh dear listeners i will do my best to describe to you what these look like so it was killed on audio yeah time little silicone tips because comfy not so comfy to have hard plastic very comfy and then there's a little vent which is supposed to equalize the pressure sure but they do look different and they've also been packed despite being a little bit smaller there's a new chip inside they still like apple products like it's about four and a half hours so it's four and a half hours if you are planning on using the noise cancelling you're so if you don't use that you can expect to get about five hours per on this and said like you can find something totally wire free earbud right now that's gets you you are apple devotees they want the thing that looks like apple they want the thing that works with their apple devices how do they stack up compared to other other options on the market well oh are just a little bit beyond competitive with the other wire free headphones that are out there because these have as learn mentioned active noise annoys canceling to do its job and you mentioned lowering that you were pretty stick of the pod on the stem so what they're doing is they're blocking then that means that the noise cancelling adjusts incense more anti-noise interior yes i thought we'd pretty well so that's a mechanism it's usually called hybrid and see career noise cancelling headphones like bows or master and dynamic or something like that which will probably now that everybody loves is the sony w. f. hyphen one thousand x those are two hundred and thirty dollars the sony's that everybody loves those are twenty dollars cheaper than the apple airports so the air pods per we're kind of in the middle there bos has some new ones coming out then there's the big one though is the amazon echo buds noise cancelling on them those are one hundred thirty dollars okay but are they any good like when i the amazon did partner with bows these though yeah they said that it partnering with bose but in like the most hands off way possible rashly licensing they've been getting pretty good reviews are audio revere parker hall is going to be testing for a little bit extra on top of what you already get from the isolation of having things plugged machines the amazon echo buds alexa machines one thing that you do perhaps a little less harsh jarring than it has in the past which is kind eating but i don't think because i mean alexis not working over your cellular well i have a question for the room our air pods still the worst you know it's not the worst thing ever lots of people like them i think they're sort of a symbol of someone wearing air pods and wearing all birds and like maybe having a beanie and like a author great people love them do you agree lauren no i think you're totally right and that it is i mean it's a it's a very real aesthetic that is exists in the world that we cover presumably his mom driving the car and just was heads down in his phone with air pods car and then i realized i did the same thing when i was a teenager as like staying the car with representative of something greater but at the end of the day they're they're headphones headphones yeah wealth necessarily more so than just a smartphone any pair of wireless headphones signals wealth so what happens if you lose one oh you have to make a missed connection on wayne to start looking more at repairability in how they construct these air pods going daybreak or your battery dies as it will eventually because it's a lithium ion battery that runs charges dude you just can't get it fixed so that's bothersome when you consider

"Hiring isn't easy but there is one place you can go where hiring is simple in smart that place is ziprecruiter where growing businesses connect to qualified candidates candidates try it for free at Ziprecruiter. Dot Com Slash Tech Talk Ziprecruiter. The smartest way to hire consumer reports recently outlined wind what most of us already knew that the fees being charged by cable companies are one rate in the adds another on the final bill you know it's similar to many travel aval websites which advertise come on nightly roommate but then. Ding you later with hidden resort fees and taxes so when I wrote an article about it this week for USA Today Day I asked Jonathan Schwab as the senior policy counsel for consumer reports what we could do about those fees and he told me there was only one option cut the cord and the fees would go away. I have some words of advice as well. Check your cable bill right now because when I took a look doc my bill was a steady in reasonable one hundred eight dollars and ninety one cents monthly until this month when it jumped to da Da da a hundred hundred and fifty four dollars a whopping five hundred and fifty two dollar yearly increase frontier communications my Los Angeles provider jacked up the Combo Internet. TV Rate from seventy five to ninety stopped offering HBO for Free Which Ballooned Up to twenty dollars and threw in a nice broadcast TV of twelve bucks to watch local channels and taxes went up to really when I called frontier complain they pretty much refused to budge saying that I had a promo rate that no longer was valid so basically I two choices cancel service altogether and re sign up under my wife's name which would now oh get me to a promotional one hundred thirty dollars monthly for what we had or disconnect altogether so I picked up a fifty dollar. You're watching your Internet service rate from frontiers. La rival spectrum and I have a router arriving hopefully today fees spectrum itself is notorious for digging us with extras like the ten dollar self installation fee they are charging me to plug in a router and to call them confirm that I indeed have service. The alternative is fifty dollars to have a technician. Come to the house and do the work and for cable subscribers. It's good to know that they do that. Twelve dollar monthly broadcast as well and it's growing at thirteen dollars and fifty cents monthly later this month I signed up for the one year plan so hopefully I got fifty dollars a month for that one year. I'll also be adding youtube. TV The Cable Alternative Service to replace the cable channels this this is fifty dollars monthly which is pretty hefty but the wife will kill me if I can't get her news channels and PBS which is coming to YouTube td later this year so so in the end. I'm going to be paying one hundred dollars monthly instead of one hundred and eight dollars monthly which really isn't much of a savings at all but I'm not about to give frontier the satisfaction this faction of nearly six hundred dollars hard in dollars every year for no good reason read your cable bills everybody cutting the cord fans no. I could've skipped up YouTube TV or slaying or playstation Vue or who live TV and just bought an antenna the pickup local channels in really saved but if you're a fan of cable able channels like FX AMC HGTV CNN ESPN and on and on you got to pay the Piper with one of the cable TV alternative services I I could live without them and just watch regular Youtube Netflix Amazon and be the happiest guy in town but I live alone. Facebook unveils new Portal video chat, TV streaming devices
"Let's talk now about can ask first why you were in San Francisco what was going on up there this week so what when your tech reporter yet these weird things were companies like Hey we're Facebook so we'd love for you to come up here and take a look at something but we can't tell you what that thing is until you come up here and what do you do. I so we go to this house in San Francisco yesterday and when I started seeing my tech friend shot from big publications then I knew okay good I'm not the only one here I'm not the only person I thought this might be cool but we went in sight unseen and sure enough they unveiled a whole bunch of new gadgets for the home called Facebook portal which they've had before but they went back to the drawing board because one Facebook portal first came out these devices that let you video chats like a smart screen and nobody like them because they had cameras and microphones and cameras and microphones in your house from Facebook no don't necessarily go together no people don't trust I think the bottom line is no matter what Facebook does until it does something absolutely miraculous that goes without a shadow of a doubt that they're not spying on us or they're not get rid of our information or anything like that it's gonna be very hard for them to convince us a camera and a microphone in our house is a good way to go right I mean connecting six billion people in the world that wasn't good enough come on face I gotta do better than that exactly okay socks but the reality is they definitely took the feedback to heart and these new devices have a lot more privacy controls built and so number one there's three devices there's they look like picture frames to them my favorite is the one that sits on top your TV it looks like that Xbox Kinect sensor and it's got a camera on the top and yes I know it's scary to have a camera microphone from Facebook but there are lenses and little shop shutters that you can physically shop on every single one of these so you can always slide to turn off the microphone and the camera lens and you'll physically see that it's off so that's number one number two when you're sitting there and for this camera it's actually quite amazing so if you've ever tried to video chat with folks which I'm sure you have Jennifer on your face time yeah it's shaky yeah you're moving around your arm gets tired it's you want to get off the call as quick as possible because it's just not a natural thing to do with this you are sitting on the couch the camera follows you around the room. zooms in if it picks the people in the room we can say which one you want to focus on or all of you the sound is amazing they really have done a great job of making it feel like the person on the other end is right there with you well and I like it too because it with my stupid little T. rex arms it's like you can't you know it I feel like I can't get the whole picture of the room and and sometimes I'm like Hey mom look at this picture that I got and then she's like wait where is that non shooting the ceiling and I'm shooting whatever it is so actually I'm watching your video that you've got it right now at ridge tomorrow on Twitter and that the the cameras and everything are actually fascinating I I think that these are great they're wide angle camera work with the cinematographer alley would to actually make it so it can zoom in on you and kind of make it it's it doesn't it's not jarring so it's not like this crazy zoom in it dissolves between shots you can have multiple people in the room so I mean everyone has a Facebook messenger account everyone and their also incorporating what sap which means that's the rest of the world that uses what sap so no matter what chances are you can contact someone in this I I really want to get one of these for my family I actually was thinking for Christmas maybe every single person in the family gets one because I could not imagine having a big group chat on the TV screen with my kids and all my you know you had a million siblings yeah I've got a lot of things and my parents and it's just it's just it's more natural to sit in front of the TV and video chat so these are gonna come out late October and early November. RT at one hundred thirty dollars up to one eighty it's gonna take a little leap of faith I think for yeah I spoke in people to accept these in their homes but look we've got gadgets from Amazon we've got gadgets from apple and also for Google in our homes at this point with microphones and speakers and cameras and all that good stuff so this is Facebook version of it yeah why not in a hundred and thirty Bucks a hundred eighty Bucks that I feel like is actually a very good Christmas present E.

iPad Pro: The reviews are in!
"Let's talk a little bit more about the reviews coming in for the ipad. Pro the new ipad pro from apple the reviews have been published because embargoes have been lifted Monday. It was a plethora of them and results somewhat mixed overall positive. So we'll highlight a few of the main points, the new design and slimmer Basil's got pretty high marks across the board as did the liquid liquid retina LCD's display, which many a publication said it was the best. I've had display ever the apple pencil to mostly applauded. Whereas the Washington Post said quote to one hundred thirty dollars apple pencil stylus available since the original also joined in the makeover and artists friend who Jimmy a quick illustration on the new probe with an app called procreate waved about it's increased responsiveness of the reviews there were some great. About-face ide- when holding the device, but tech radar said quotes, the good news is that the ipad pro eleven doesn't deed possess a half decent came around the back with the twelve megapixel sensor capable of taking more than acceptable, low light photos with rich enough detail when zoomed in the larger display does make a good view finder. And if you're doing something scientific or technical you'll have some good quality visual data to work with that was something that besides this sort of ha ha someone's taking a photo with their ipad at a concert type thing that the cameras were not totally up to snuff with smartphone cameras. So it sounds like if you're going to be using an ipad pro for this reason than CNN. It's it's it's good to have a camera that that is actually in the mix with the best of the best the big question. Everybody wants to know if this really is good as a laptop replacement and most of these reviews said that the processor was snappy. You could switch back and forth between apps really well. But the big downside is you're still in IOS. You still got a mobile browse. Sometimes when you click on links it opens an app, which is an ideal in a situation, and a lot of reviewers mentioned that they still needed to go to an actual to do certain things, especially in a work environment. I mean, David what do you make of all these different ipad pro reviews, or what do you think of the ipad pro? Well, my first response was the comment about the stylus. But I'm also interested talking about the the the sort of computer replacement one hundred thirty dollars stylus as I understand the new one did not work with version one in the version one stylist does not work with the current one at in just this pattern of a by the way that thing you bought very recently. It's now obsolete it what I I get a sensor is this like dominate tricks and submissive quality between apple and its customers. As in. You're going to buy this one hundred thirty dollars stylish, and you're going to love it whether you like it or not gonna thing and they're going to they're going to be irritated by it. But they're going to say. Thank you. We love it regardless because of the relationship that's built with apple. So that was kinda I take that. But that's not unlike a new ipad just having a really cool feature that older, I pads don't support it just happens. From the unit itself
Talking about the pretty and pricey new iPad Pro (The 3:59, Ep. 484)
"Today's three fifty nine is sponsored by player. Unknowns. Download the official mobile version of pub G four free go to your Android or app store and type g mobile and collect a special reward using the promo code H O ell's EPZ x nine C code also listed in the episode description play now. Welcome to the three fifty nine. I'm Ben FOX ribbon. I'm Alfred and I'm Scott Stein. Scott just published his review of the new ipad. Pro it's got a new pencil a new design a new face ide-. But it's also got a new price tag. Yes. Does sting is expensive? It goes up to eighteen ninety nine that's for all the specs and all the trimmings starts at seven ninety nine for the eleven inch. I looked at the twelve point nine inch version and have been living with for a little less than a week. Do you like it is it a so I think what I'm especially interested in is. Is it a computer replacement is it gonna replace affairs here? Yeah. What is it? What is it? Up replace. No, I don't think it's a very good laptop replacement because if you're looking for track pad support or mouse support it doesn't have that still, and it doesn't have the sort of web experience at the browser experience that you might expect that's on a Chromebook even that that allows for deeper web tools, but if you don't care about that if you have already been using an ipad or no tonight that pros bring to the table last year similar idea in the software hardware super blazing fast. And I think the design of it is really nicely refined. But that's kind of an apple trend of this year. Larger screens more refined higher price. Yeah. Good grief. The other thing. That's like the most aptly thing about this is that they came out with a new pencil that doesn't work with the old ipad. Yeah. Only works with this one. Yeah. So you have to buy new pencil, and it's one hundred thirty dollars hundred thirty dollars, which is ally. Now, the thing is if you've never gotten one of these before, and you get this now, the pencil charges and works, much, more seamlessly. It's great to have that. It's kind of like air pods. Nice instant available for you. Much better than that stabbing out the back, but to have to buy a whole new end, and I'd have any adapter for the old one is crazy. Okay. But okay, we're kind of focusing on some of the less, enjoyable parts of this. Did you like using it was it funded, you know, kind of draw with with the pencil where there are a lot of nice improvements. When when you're using it for what an ipad is for like all those are graphics everyday like a web razzing even writing I really like it. And I've traveled with an ipad a lot too is. I think to take notes with or just us on the train and for the amount of apps it has and for all that stuff. But what I don't like is when you have to start editing rave to start doing anything that gets more mission critical, which is the idea of pro that part. You can't take it with you. I don't think and file an entire story without a lot of headaches. So that part I don't like, but I did like the speed of it. I like the design refinement, there's more screen and less is. I wish you didn't cost more. Yeah. Yeah. No kidding. So we've also got. Even more election scams. We've got Alfred here to talk about them this one targeting vote for one one dot org. Tells you vote for one dot org is a voter information website, you can find out where to register to vote. What candidates you in your district stand for and what's on the ballot? Generally, John Oliver had promoted on a show last week tonight on October twenty eighth and I got a two thousand percent spike in traffic after that little promo and it two days after he promoted scammers set up a website called vote for one one dot com. Which is a common mistake that people would make most people are going dot com websites and this website, basically ran a online technical support scam. Which is if you ever go on a website. And it tells you like, hey, you've been infected with a virus? Please call this number to get it removed. And then you know, they essentially put a virus on your computer. If you do call that number, and then you acid you. They ask you to pay them to get rid of it was very common scheme. But now, they're using you know, curiosity around the mid term. Elections to basically use it as a watering hole type of attack where they know a lot of people are going to be looking for these election updates and things like that. And they're using that to their advantage. With a fake website. Do do we know if there are now more or less midterm related hacks or scams going on nowadays than maybe four years ago? I mean, it's unclear because anytime somebody gets hacked, it's not like there's somebody going out there say, hey, we did this or anything like that. But we do know that there have been. They're more vigilant about it. And there are a lot of examples about this so Microsoft in August talked about how they had gone rid of these websites that were basically doing the same thing. But it might have been for a lot more malicious purposes because so while the fake vote for on dot com website was more for financial gains the Russian websites that Microsoft had taken out more specifically like politically motivated. Great. If you want to read more about these stories, check us out on seen it. I'm Ben FOX urban. I'm offering I'm Scott Stein. Thanks for listening.

"one hundred thirty dollars" Discussed on 860AM The Answer
"Now, here's Phil. Caterpillar has its best third quarter in the company's history that sock. I'm sorry is down eleven percent. Since the earnings report. There's no sensible human who'd be making these decisions when we're looking cat and they've got eight to ten percent earnings growth ahead of them. And they're trading at ten times earnings, and they'd have these out of the park earnings calls. It's gotta be robo based artificial intelligence based. Oh my God. No. It's not robo based artificial intelligence base with Caterpillar, very simple. The institutions the biggest hedge funds the biggest insurance companies denying biggest banks in our country, pull their money out of Caterpillar. And it went down. It went down. Yesterday. Pain was going crazy. I can't figure it out. He said I went through the balance sheets. I went through all the bells did all the numbers should be going down. Well, it goes down when you take money out. If you listened to stories to buy stock. That's what they tried to tell you. And they try to tell you stories like Kramer, always tells you a story why should by stop. You always have I met with the guy. I know the CEO I know they're going to China. I know there's no you don't have to know anything about stocks to make money. All you need to know is when I take my money and put it in with the institutions, why do I take my money out with the institutions I want to be going in with them and out with them. And I realized that I realized that for years, I'm going. I've been in this market over forty years, but under served seventy two years and longtime ago, I kept saying how can people not make money when the market goes up seventy two times seventy two percent of the time. How it's impossible. How can people? Not make money winning the last eighty years the market has only gone down where the major correction we've only had seven corrections in eighty years and seventy two percents time to market goes up and the answer came to me. And that's right developed my chart, you answer is because just like Caterpillar when they pulled their money out you get out. But no, why did they stay in because like pain says he's gone through or if you can keep financier yesterday right here. Let's listen to what he say why he's all confused about Caterpillar. Let me tell you something Caterpillar it's getting crushed today. I'm so confused. I went to the income statement. I went through the balance sheet. I didn't listen to the conference call. But he says he wants you to balance sheet. He all the financials. I didn't do any of that. All I know that we're in Caterpillar when it was one hundred thirty dollars a turn green. It went from one thirty up to a one hundred fifty three that's about an eight percent gain. I think okay. Let's see. Seventeen percent gain. So we keep percent gain. All gang members got an exactly when I got it. But let's say they got half of it. Let's take got eight percent of it. The important thing is not if they got seventeen percent gang or ten percent gang or five percent gain in. Caterpillar thing was when I saw it turn green identify the institution, you're putting money, but more important. The most important is on is. On Tuesday, October ninth. It turns red then we waited one more day. It was read again for confirmation. I didn't go and redefine the balance sheets. I didn't read any of that. So while it dropped down. Caterpillar dropped out about twenty percent. Pain the genius. He's thumbing through the financial sheets. He's thumbing through the ballot sheets. He's thumbing through the. Ten ten k he's gone through who cares? Maybe maybe they got a shipment of steel in late or something in the balance. You may have maybe they got shipping steel in that where they couldn't produce these bulldozers they're sending over to Taiwan. Who cares? The institutions please listen to me, the institution's biggest banks insurance biggest henchman they're paying people millions and millions of dollars to do research and you'll see them pull their money out as a result of that research. So it doesn't make common sense. It did to me. That's why my chart so if it turns red, and and Goldman Sachs and j p mortgage and mortgage Danny is paying twenty two million dollars a year to the geniuses. They graduated from Harvard and for me L would masters degrees to follow these companies to find out when they're pulling their money out. Not to the balance sheets how the balance sheets work out for paying. He got confused. Let me tell you something Caterpillar it's getting crushed. I'm so confused I to so so so he's got everybody in Caterpillar is going down there getting killed. I got people in Caterpillar, but shorting it. Opposite shorting it. That's just one. Can't take all homebuilders. I said the home builder's you're gonna get crushed. They're going to get crushed listen. I was right. When we got in the home builder's, we got into the home builder's about God about three months ago. But here, let's just let's just take. Toll brothers. Just take toll brothers. So toll brothers. We saw the money starting to come out on September nineteenth. There's around thirty six bucks. And now today's down to twenty nine so, okay. So thirty six down to twenty nine. So so it went down nineteen percent. So I spotted mite color coded chart. It was green. It was green from. It was green from August twenty four and it stopped turning green turned red September nineteen. I didn't look at their balance sheets. I didn't go through their ten ks. I didn't do any of that. All I saw it turned. Right. So I said to my gang members. Let's sell short the institutions are pulling the money out. So now, what would you say down down about twenty percent? And we're still in it. We're still in it and yesterday. In fact, I said let's start taking some profits. Because they're going to try to snap these back and yesterday. Sure enough, they tried to snap these stocks back. We had the prophets in our pocket. And I said, well, we make new laws will go in and slam him again. It's that easy. But when I every day when I tell you, why don't you join my gay. He's trying for a month. Just follow the video stocks. These are for people who have no time. Don't wanna learn anything. They just wanna make money. Okay. So I said, let's give it to them much. Give these people don't wanna do anything. Don't wanna work. Don't want to put any time is let's give them it. We'll just tell them. Okay. Get in because it's turned red. We want to sell it short. Okay. Or get in its greens going up. Now get out it's red. And we do that through a video every day. We give you the by the cell, and we're going to give you a run like hell order. Okay. Get out of dodge move run. Like hell, why don't you try it for a month? That's all it works. So now, we got for example, I knew at the same time. It's pretty easy to figure out we got interest. We have Helwe headwind, well, well pain in Barney and Maria Barreda, aroma and all those guys on CNBC and Bloomberg. We're tell us. This is the greatest economy to ever ever happen to us. The greatest economy listen to this year. This is unbelievable. The cut where he goes. Here. We are here. If you're just looking at themselves. I thought they were pretty fantastic. We just blow it out in the earning side earnings discontinued to to move higher earnings are still very solid. We still earnings very solid earnings, really solid. So just buying earnings or Charlotte. We got revenue MRs from Hilton Texan Illinois tool. Sales falling short at UPS. I mean, when you're looking at some of the numbers that were getting out of the earnings, you'd think the market would be doing far better than it is right now literally Lucia theories a bunch of nonsense. It's not like it used to be, you know, where they get the earnings from what they do with earnings is they do stock buybacks stock by Dax creates earnings phony earnings and the minute you have phony earnings which we've had for for the last eight years, and you building a bubble when the interest rates start going up those earnings are fake, and when you start paying instead of zero on your money, if you're you're a big institution your big corporation, you're boring boring boring up to your next you're going to debt because it's free money. And then all of a sudden the interest starts going up. You're get your dead dead and they got show, greedy. They're so addicted they've been so addicted to stock buybacks these CEO's they ended their addicted. They're like heroin addicts. They couldn't stop themselves. Now, all of a sudden interest rates go up. That's a headwind interest on our national debt. In two thousand seventeen was two hundred sixty three billion. It's going now at two thousand eighteen to four seventy five billion. But guess what? With the United States had to reduce its investments by forty five percent because the interest rates have gone up so much. They can't invest, and you're telling us this the best economy of the world.

"Well, a smart smoke alarm isn't quite 'Smart as it used to be this after the startup behind it went out of business art, Larry, what kinds of features are people who bought this alarm losing when we're talking about the halo plus smoke alarm and one hundred thirty dollars spoke alarm, which a lot of money to pay for actually smoke accommodation carbon monoxide alarm. You can get those at WalMart for under ten dollar if you just want wanna dumb one. And this one will continue to be a dumb one. It will set an alarm. I get that completely dumb. It'll set an alarm if there's a fire or if there's carbon monoxide, but it will no longer push that information to your phone. It will no longer warn you of inclement weather and Neva the feature that encourage people to spend this kind of money for device that won't do that anymore. And this is one of those cases where it's important to get the word out because people might assume that that information's going to come to them and short of getting it. They might think that there's no problem, you're absolutely right. It is important to help the company notifying people, but it also brings up the larger question of. What happened if you buy a product maybe from his startup or perhaps even established company and they go to out of business if they no longer support it. And frankly, you're kind of out of luck because products like this and there are plenty of other garden sensor company that went out of business. And when they when the cloud goes down when the company turned off the servers, you no longer get the features that come with the product. So could we consider this to be a little bit of a buyer beware about these kinds of smart products? I think so. And I hate to tell people to only shop companies like Google Amazon, you know, and stay with them star because I love startups in some of our best product start out startups like nest, which was eventually acquired by Google, but you do have to be aware that if you're buying a product that's made by startup there, if the possibility that there smoke alarm could essentially.

"Paying one hundred thirty dollars thousand dollars helped him get elected so i think that's going to go out there looking not and this is why giuliani get got out in front of it right like giuliani got out right away in front of this paying some stormy daniels woman one hundred thirty thousand i mean which is going to turn out to be perfectly legal that money was not campaign money sorry i'm giving you a fact now that you don't know it's not campaign money so putting that out there paying her one hundred thirty thousand dollars throwing all of this stuff getting everything in front out there for the world to see it's going to take away from the amunition that moeller thought he might have had in a way that he was hoping to catch him not so much in collusion by the sounds of it but some sort of way of him trying to cover up something and so by now announcing all this getting out in front of this being really the one who is just just pushing all of the stories it takes all of that sting away because you know of courting to abc's chief white house correspondent the tactics between thai cop who was the person who was representing the trump and now giuliani those tactics are now changing by spoke to tie cobb right before the news of his nouncement announced departure and right after tuykov was the person on the president's legal team that was preaching cooperation with the special counsel he was even saying nice things about a rosenstein to me yesterday that is now over it is essentially war now between the president's legal team and the special counsel world to see they're going to be transparent as possible so there's nothing to hide and when there's nothing to hide.

"This from the very beginning i wasn't i knew how much money donald trump put campaign i said one hundred thirty thousand it can do a couple of checks for one hundred thirty dollars when i heard this is this is where it gets sloppy because what he's saying here is in precise what he's saying here is not really relevant how much money the president has put in a campaign it's a different pull the money you can't use campaign funds for quote unquote hush money and notice hush money hush money so every nondisclosure act i guess fobs hush money then it's a contract stormy daniels signed a contract she received a payment later she hired a lawyer and decided well i don't think the contract is legitimate that's the essentials it's not an in kind contribution i'm so sick of the insanity and the absurdity that is being spewed but this bit of imprecise language was not particularly helpful go ahead retainer of thirty five thousand when he was doing no work for the president that's how it was repaying that's how we do you might say oh my god you can't pay for doing no of course you can he's paying the lawyer if i'm falling giuliani to pay down the payment that he made coen's not ensnared in anything i don't care if they bring charges against moore whatever they're wrong he was not ensnared in anything and trump wasn't ensnared in anything so it's not a murder suicide oh these clever fortune cookie lines he's got you know they write them down so when the tv cameras i got a line right any lines down i may take a few notes saying make sure you touch on this this this because i think it's important to present this the american people they may not know but i don't quote right down one liners either.

"Go by an eighty two thousand five from audio technica and you will send a thousand times better that's what brian uses on the show every week cost less than a blue yeti by the way by half and you'll sound great so that's why i hate blue but don't you think but i i get what you're coming from don't you think that the that the blue yetis are a step up from using their ear buds well yes but a blue yet he's gonna cost you one hundred thirty dollars right a blue snowballs gonna cost you fifty dollars for five bucks in a blue snowball i did a show last week for the jordan harbinger show where the guest had a blue snowball we could hear his girlfriend typing twenty feet away and she had to leave the room i'm not kidding yeah i run into yeah and to fix it i have to use a thousand dollar piece of software is atop rx pro advanced to to fix the audio so it sounds like he's good and then manually do it so i have to to to use a fifty dollar mike you have to buy a thousand dollar piece of software how does the math work on that when you can buy an eighty dollar mike and not have to use any software that's why hate blue and just the the problem is they look cool you know everybody thinks that and that's why i bought it i thought it looked cool i'm not i'm not immune to that in shape or form but i'm just trying to tell people out there that blue products for new podcasters our waste of your money and you're going to eventually burn it in upgrade or you're not gonna podcast anymore right there better choices for comparable money the two thousand five is my goto mike with a pop filter because it is not great with plo cives but the the at are twenty one hundred is what a lot of people by even though the internals are the same the two thousand five gives you a carrying case as well and it looks cooler because it's black end the problem with the at are twenty one hundred is the switch to turn it on and off is is raised in they break off often the two thousand five is flat so they don't break so that's.

"A cellular configurations as well one hundred thirty dollars more on each one of those base level prices so uh a bunch of new ipad pro offerings um in those are available today for ordering and they're going to be shipping next week now to go along with the new ipads and with the new i o s eleven they do how some iowa soliven ipads specific features including a new doc that has a little predictive area on the right so it's going to have your little continuity things just like your mac doc does and the dock now kind of floats up there a little bit so it's not just kind of attached to the bottom of the screen and you can actually drag icons now into the dock so it to me it seems to work a lot more like the mac os stock and then you can pull apps out of the dock and actually put them into the slide over mode and then when you swipe down on them if they're in slide over mode their snap into split the mode so there's a lot of new swipe gestures for controlling your windows and your docks and not only that they're adding a new spaces like feature to the app switzer so now you can actually set up various at pairings in actually save those as spaces and then move seamlessly between them so for example something i really like to have an split view is my are assess reader.
