Biden Calls Xi as US-China Relationship Grows More Fraught

"Us president joe biden has held a lengthy phone conversation with his chinese counterpart xi jinping the first time the leaders from the world's most powerful countries have talked in seven months. A white house statement said both men had discussed. The responsibility of both nations to ensure competition does not veer into conflicts. Let's get more on this now with former. Us diplomat. Louis lukens lose now. A senior partner at the consultancy cigna global. Good afternoon to you lou and tell us this phone call after a hiatus does he represent a real meaningful breakthrough in your view. Hey tom i think it's too early to tell. If this is a meaningful breakthrough. But i think it is significant. As you mentioned there was a quite a height as they hadn't spoken the two leaders for seven months and this book for ninety minutes yesterday which include interpretation that that's forty five minutes of substantive discussion so it's meaningful in the sense that it's important. The leaders of these two countries communicate and talk and try to find areas that they can cooperate and work together. And that's what joe biden has been trying to. Do i think so whether this results in a ratcheting down of tension. I think remains to be seen. But it's certainly a step in the right direction

China Bans Under-18s From Playing Online Games for More Than an Hour a Day

"The gaming banned for minors in china. Now obviously it's a little bit more complicated but it's also not entirely unexpected this new law supersedes twenty nine thousand nine rules that allowed ninety minutes per day and forbade playing between ten pm and eight. Am with the justification back then being that well kids shouldn't be playing too many video games and they shouldn't be up late such that will affect their schooling. Which is i mean fair enough. But whether that is the rule of the state or the role of the parent is something that i think a lot of people would disagree about The twentieth nineteen measures also limited minors monthly spending on games to a maximum of fifty seven. Which appears to be unchanged. This new policy also enforces a policy requiring game companies to require players. Real names when logging it. I mean imagine. Imagine having imagine giving up your minor data protection laws in order to make sure that those miners who companies are now by law collecting information from are not playing too many video. Games that's That's an interesting double edged sword right there. The press release on state media said it is indisputable that indulging online games effects normal study life and teens physical and mental health. I could see that young. Chinese gamers are lashing out at the new rules. One objection sexual consent. It fourteen at sixty and you can go to work but you have to be eighteen to play games. This is really a joke. Know good observation as well. I don't think. I could have put it better myself now to be clear. There's nothing that the chinese government can do to prevent minor from playing a single player game completely disconnected from the internet. If there was. I'm sure they would be trying to figure out how to do that. In fact my understanding is that functionality. Like that could end up being baked into game platforms like the chinese version of steam. So that if you are playing a single player offline game Could theoretically be enforced. But my understanding is there's no actual enforcement or attempt to enforce any kind of rule like that. This is mostly focused on online

China Is Limiting Kids Playing Video Games to 3 Hours a Week

"On wednesday. New rules took effect in china that severely restrict the amount of time. Young people can play video games online. Between friday and sunday gamers under eighteen years old will only be allowed to play between eight pm and nine pm the rest of the week. They won't be allowed to play at all. The regulation will also require all users to register using their real names and government issued. Id's it's of beijing's larger efforts to crack down on the growing power of tech firms and insert itself into the private lives of chinese citizens joining us to discuss how these new rules are being received. And what it means for. Gamers and gaming companies alike is the wall street. Journal's deputy china bureau chief josh chen hi josh. How are you so josh. This is the first time. China has restricted gaming for minors in two thousand nineteen limited playtime to ninety minutes on weekdays and it also limited. How much money they could spend on video games. So we're these new. Even more restrictive rules. A surprise was in wasn't a surprise last month. State media outlet published a commentary described video games as quote unquote opium of the mind and that triggered a pretty major sell off shares of gaming companies ten cent which is china's biggest gaming company. I think fell somewhere around. Eleven percent in prior to that china's leader xi jinping has taken aim at video games as a danger to the development of chinese youth. So we've suspected for a while it's something might becoming but what was surprising was just how strict and specific these restrictions were three hours is pretty miserly. Yeah these new restrictive rules. How is china planning on enforcing them in. That's a really good question. They haven't been specific about it and the way that things often work in china's at the communist party will come up with rules and then sort of leave it up to the internet companies themselves to figure out how to enforce

Side Hustling Habits That Helped Me Quit My Job

"Let's talk about working on that side hustle. A business not going to build itself. You have to put in the time dedicated time. During the week i would spend about ninety minutes an hour to two hours on building. My side hustle. So gilmore on five probably done with dinner by six a relaxed for an hour and then from seven to nine ish. I would work on my side hustle. And then i would move on with the rest of the night go to bed start the next day very little wiggle room right very little time for dilly-dally i know but i knew this was gonna take for me to be able to build side hustle. That was gonna launch me into the next phase of my entrepreneurial career which is fulltime entrepreneurship. So i spent by ninety minutes every single day and i spent at least eight hours during the weekend so either one full day or four hours each day. Working on my side hustle. The reason why. I did it every day and not to say hey. I'm going to spend all weekend long and not do anything during the week is because it's again very important to have momentum to build upon something day after day if you forget about your business for a few days four five six days and then jump right back into it takes a while to get back into it and to remember what you where you left off and worded what to do you kind of lose focus so one of that momentum so i spent as much time as i can every day even sometimes just an hour but at least i can build upon the next

How and When to Fuel Your Body While Running a Half Marathon

"If any in place for fuelling during a half marathon before during after. I greatly appreciate it. Thanks so in a word girlfriend. Yes you need. You need to taking calories during a half marathon. I mean what a world of difference it'll make and also need to be drinking sooner than mile ten. You didn't ask about drinking. But i'm gonna chime in with that the adage as well. Yeah absolutely apps and this is something that i would say across. The board makes a difference the first time you do it right. Like people kind of get a little gun shy about two he and calories because they might think about their stomachs not being super tolerant of that or maybe they're nervous about you know i'm out here to run to lose weight or whatever and i don't want to take him calories and kind of go against that but i will quote. Coach jen harrison. Here she's like people never gained weight during what they ate during work from what they work and it only helps you go faster and farther and feel better right and i mean it's basically just a you know a pretty simple gas take kind of metaphor. Your muscles can only hold so much like agenda which is easily accessible fuel right. It comes in the forms of sugar basically when when you take it in sports nutrition and so sixty you have about. I mean ninety minutes worth of glycogen your muscles right but but the reality is is. It's you know you can't get down. You can't let your warning like come on before you start to refill and an expected to be you know it's going to go down no matter what over the course of a race but we want to kind of keep it as topped off possible. That's the easiest way to explain it. Yeah yeah yeah so you specifically mentioned gels christine which we appreciate us. We love our longtime pals at goo so They recently am. I think you saw at that infographics that goo released showing you know when to start to fuel and their chart says to Start with the gel five minutes before the start so. I think that's intriguing because i think most people are a lot of people probably think like. Oh it's when i started. You can actually kind of prime that pump back to the Gas tank analogy of getting it taking five minutes before so you think about that while you're in the starting corral and you wanna be taking in calories with liquid either water or noon every forty five minutes or

What Exercise You Should Be Avoiding Before Going to Bed

"We're talking about the one exercise that you need to stop doing before bed. So let's face it guys. Finding time to exercise is important. We know this you know even when you have to keep a busy schedule. We know that it's important to find time to exercise. That doesn't mean there's never a bad time to work up a sweat you know. Surprisingly the experts are seeing that exercising at night could be negatively. Impacting your sleep. So if you're the type of person that likes workout at night and you're finding it hard to fall asleep. This is the episode for you. I suppose it's a good thing that you're working out in the first place. That's a big ole gut for you. My friend you know really but again sleep is also just as important and i argue probably more important. So let's try and get some rest so you can see those true gains from all that work that you're putting in at the gym. Well worth outs are okay to do before jumping into bed. There's one kind of exercise in particular that could be keeping you awake at night and so according to the experts at by ward engaging in more strenuous exercise in the ninety minutes before you plan on hitting the hey quote unquote this can make falling asleep so much more difficult and there's research like actual research to back that up now. They're not just throwing it out there and china's start movement. No there's research behind that because that's what i do. I find the research dig into it and and there was a study published in the journal. Sports medicine back in october of two thousand eighteen that found that while exercising the evening is generally not initially more generally. It's not a problem to do that. They actually found that intense workouts. That are done within an hour of your bedtime. Cad am usually does negatively impact your ability to fall asleep and more than that. It keeps you from staying asleep. You know it's one thing trying to get to sleep but when you spend so much time to sitting there laying there counting sheep trying to get the senior finally fall asleep. Just wake up thirty minutes. Later i should you know i think i tell you that. This is not good because it essentially reduces the quality of your overall

I've seen 'em about nine thousand nine hundred ten and so that. That would be the way i'd be looking at. It is a real difficult to try and separate the emotion out and we always say. Don't bet when you feel so emotional about about the teams in that you know about my own because of that reason so you know i'm looking at it from a point of view and thinking it will be a really taught game both both teams as well. I think will will obviously approach made with the fear of not wanting to lose rather than going to win and we've seen that from from both teams in the tournament maybe more so england. Everything You Need to Know About the Long Run With Coach Jess Movold

"As you mentioned the long run is just this specific ron during the week where you're spending more time in your feet and perhaps the other days and relevant to whatever it is that you're going after so whereas you could be training for a ten k and you're long run would be six eight miles max versus training for a marathon. Where over time amo. That long bryden gets up. Eighteen nineteen twenty excetera depending on your training plan now for someone gearing up for their long run. What are a few things that you would recommend to them to do. What you prepare. Well i think to take it seriously. You know to put it on your calendar on a day where you feel you know i think yes. The long run falls on the weekends for so many. But it doesn't have to be your training plan. Be customized to your schedule that works best but it does need to be pretty routinely placed within that you know seven day block that you can buy or ties it you can you know. Commit to ninety plus minutes because technically that's where the long run turns into the long run ninety minutes or more you know you want to be able to make it routine so prioritizing it mentally managing expectations and knowing that the purpose of the long run is to complete it you know and i think it's an opportunity to work through mental obstacles mental hurdles mental things that are challenging learning how to work through them. It is the absolute perfect time to introduce fuelling. If that's new for you to find a source of fuel that you can work with or see if it works for you and clean outs. Bathrooms plan out water. Stops things that you can get ahead of you know on race day. Where setup there's potties you know in a perfect world. There's places to go to the bathroom. There's water and or other sources of hydration but the long run. It's all up to you so that's a good time to wear that outfit so you don't look at the finish line to bring the fuel to try out a hydration pack Not to try out new shoes. You can get new shoes and you know i would suggest four to six miles in a new pair of shoes and if it works then introduce them into your long run but the the best part about the long run is he. Just go and get it done.

"Seventy five to ninety minutes you need to get somebody else. Climate control. Experts tuneup usually takes between seventy five to one hundred and twenty minutes from start to finish. Now, we call that cleaning or tuneup, a total system, rejuvenation and includes cleaning your outdoor coils and inspection. And documentation of about sixty to seventy different components in your furnace and air conditioner. Some of you are going, sixty to seventy different components. That's a lot of stuff, right? Well, when our guys show up, they spend an average of seventy five to one hundred twenty minutes working to get your heating and air conditioning system as close to factory fresh condition, as possible not to mention their criminally background check and drug screened to did you know that the number one and number two trades being taught in the prisons today, were plumbing and air conditioning. That's right, folks the number one and number two trades being taught in the prisons today are plumbing and air conditioning that listen folks, I'm not saying that I don't believe that people deserve a second chance. I really do believe that if you made a mistake, and you did time for it when you get out, you should be able to get a job. I just decided I wasn't going to put them in your home now fellas. If your wife's going to be the one that's home when the heating and air conditioning guy comes by do you wanna take a chance that, that person is someone who learned heating and cooling in the pen? Do you have kids? How about them? Did you know that fifty percent of the guys that I have interviewed can't pass a nationwide criminal background check folks, I've went through over one hundred resumes and a period of three weeks and only hired one person climate control experts. They're very selective about who they put in your home. I wanna talk about one of the gentleman, I interviewed and keep in mind when I do an interview I asked them all kinds of questions about how they do the work. I asked them how to test the capacitor how to clean a blow real. And sure enough, this guy was giving me pretty good explanations. He missed one. Maybe two little steps, but nothing a little training couldn't fix right now. At some point in every interview I try to compare our moral compasses. So sometimes I get a little sneaky. Okay. So here's the seventh question I asked him. I leaned in, and I said, how do you feel about selling customers things? They don't need. Did you hear that folks? How do you feel about selling customers things they don't need now brace yourself oaks because without hesitation? He said, I don't have a problem with it at all. I don't have a problem with it at all. Come on. The reality is that he had been around and worked for enough other air conditioning companies in the area that operated that way that he thought that that's what I wanted to hear. I stood up from the table. I shook his hand, and I said, sir, the interviews over, we won't be offering you job. But I thank you for coming in. Then I interview another guy same questions. He's doing a pretty good job. And when I lean in and ask him my little trick question. How do you feel about selling customers things? They don't need this guy did hesitate a kind of dropped his head. And then he said, I can't do it. And if I'm being honest, I have done it the company that I worked for required that I bring back a certain dollar amount on every single call that I went on. Sometimes they didn't need anything. But if I didn't sell them anything I was gonna lose my job and man, I got kids to feed, but then I got to thinking, am I setting the right kind of example, for my kids? So I had to quit. And now I'm unemployed and the market is flooded with heating and air conditioning technicians. And it's been hard to get a job. That's an example of the type of competitors. We have out there, guys. I told stories and interviews about heating and air conditioning companies training, their technicians to jump wires on two thousand dollar compressors to sell new systems like crossing wires over to break them. And there are hundreds of heating and air conditioning contractors in this area, last time I checked, and chances are pretty good that a technician like the one in the story it's going to be come into your home, or your neighbor's home. You know, you might look down the street today and see an air conditioning technician a heating technician, and it might be that guy. I'm certain that he didn't decide to quit the heating and air conditioning business just because I wouldn't hire him. And remember, there's more guys where that guy came from he got his training at one of those unprofessional heating and air conditioning, companies. Now, listen, we go out to customers houses all the time that have air conditioners with corroded coils or blowers that are all credit up, and we have to help them out of bad predicaments. I mean, for crying out loud. That's what we do. We make furnaces heat pumps and air conditioners last longer. We lower energy bills. We give you cleaner, fresher air. We increase airflow we make systems run quieter and cost you less money to own, but we're not going to try to sell you something. You don't need. Okay. Belic in about two to three minutes. I'm going to open up these phone lines. And if you can get through when I give the telephone number I'm going to do your entire system. Both the heating and the cooling side not for two hundred and fifty dollars what we normally charge but for seventy nine dollars on top of that on the way out the door. I'm gonna give you your money back. I'm gonna give you a seventy nine dollars gift card. That's good towards any future service that you need on your heating and cooling system. Beat a service.

"Would be I'm going to bed at one thirty. I'm getting up at seven I'm going to LAX but should I get up at six thirty or seven ten? Okay. So let me tell you. So you sleep in roughly ninety minutes cycles. And so you wanna sleep in ninety minute bouts. So as an example, if you went to bed, let's just make the math, simple at one, I'd want you to get up at seven because it's six hours or four ninety minutes cycles can chunk it into ninety minutes cycles you're gonna you're gonna wake up feeling better. And then I would have you taken nap on your flight. LAX to New York, which is roughly four and a half hours, depending upon what time you got there. I could tell you exactly what point in time during the flight to take the nap when you got there you when you get there, do you have to go on stage that night. Or do you get to go to the hotel and chill? And then do your show, the next night, I don't have to perform that night. I gotta get up early. The next morning, do Howard, Stern. Okay. So, yeah, I what I would do is, I would show you exactly where to nap, and then believe it or not the opposite of melatonin is blue light. And so you could actually use light during the daytime to keep you awake, as opposed to stimulants like coffee and what have you read Bill, whatever you want to stay away from those because it's, it's a quick high, and then it's super big crash. That's not what you're interested in. You're interested in a gentle, bring you up keep you up and then allow you to fall back asleep. So I would have you napping during the during the flight going to bed at a regular time. Then wake up the next morning to do Howard Stern get sunlight more. You get coffee get sunlight because remember that turns off the melatonin faucet in your brain, and they'll make you much more alert. And what about coffee? So the coffee, there's nothing wrong with coffee. But here's the thing in order to wake up out of a state of unconsciousness, you need to hormones cortisol, which is what you mentioned earlier and adrenaline, both of those are very high. When you wake up if you add coffee on top of that it's like adding week t to cocaine right? And it just doesn't do you a whole lot of good, you just get jittery. But if you wait just ninety minutes after you wake up. So if you wake up at six thirty, and you have your coffee at eight your cortisol is actually naturally gone down, when you drink the caffeine, it lifts the cortisol up and you get more bang for your muck. So ninety minutes after you wake up, drink your first Cup of coffee, stop coffee by about two pm coffee as half-life of between six and eight hours. So if you stop it to by ten at least half of it's out of your system and that allow you to fall asleep a little bit easier. Now, also remember, people have different caffeine sensitivities..

"We'll move around to like, you know, if if I have let's say have. Our new patient points are ninety minutes. And our recruiting care appointments are thirty forty or fifty or sixty minutes based on if they're an easy profile or not, right? So I let the hygienist decide all that. Let's say we have to thirty minute pro fees. And they cancel and then there's like a couple of units on either side of them, or whatever you we're gonna try to move somebody around. So that we have a new patient slot. Right. Okay. So that we maximize that I just think it's just hard, and it gets to be more of kind of a moving target when multiple hygienists working 'cause you have these multiple holes here, and there that need to be filled gig gig eighty. But I we do this all the time. And I was wondering like if that's okay. But then I put myself in in the in the other, you know, like. If I were in a patient in thing about my physician, if my physician texted me, the morning of and said like, hey, we can see you blanket this time in it actually made it easier on me, I would love that. And if it didn't make it easier. Maybe know, that's it's not gonna work for me. And they're you're giving them the choice. We're giving them a choice. So I think that's that's the thing. So we do this all the time. I think this is hard when you're on the when you're having to call people, right? When you can text it makes a lot easier because it's kind of intrusive unobtrusive his. Yeah. And so you're not you're not like budding in on their day calling him thirteen times to find just that writes true to maximize it free for both parties, I probably would feel differently. If I had we've as part of my my function for a second. I thought you said I probably would feel differently if I had weed, and I was like, well you. Right. Man. Yeah. I wonder sometimes though like am. I, you know, is that something that turns some people off or whatever. But I feel like they try to do a good job of scouting out those people that don't want that we like kind of work those people. Dispersion wants this exact appointment. I mean, it is. Is short notice cancellation list. So he was so you would know people that are flexible or fluid. We always will offer always telling me patients because if you like if you call my office today to try to get like your new patient appointment. You know, it's I are new patients can have book out a little bit like like Blake March early April something like that. So we tell people I k- stuff opens up all the time. Give it a few days. It's cheeses are like we can get you in quicker. If you have some flexibility and most absolutely like just give me a call. And let me know. And then other people will be no I want this one for whatever specific really smart dad, but we move people around ally. I've somewhat mixed feelings about it. But also know that I don't feel like I have a bunch of people, bitching and moaning. Yeah. I think if it's just kind of an established part of it then. And I think you're doing it. Right. You know, texting is is less obtrusive that they have the option to decline. So right. Yeah. We give them the choice. We give them the choice. I Intel like like, no, we're just going to hold you down and get set of Rogers rip the teeth out right with with no anaesthetic. If you say no to this. Every episode. I feel comfortable, right. Maybe you think we helped Monica. Worry about it. Too much. I don't know. I think it's just the the way the world, man.
