"No, I won't get back to full stadium. But there was a great great great experience and the Giants the ushers at everyone. Good Now for anything better. They already pulled it off on. That's what fans need to hear. Matt, You know, people are skeptical, still going to places and doing things, but so far yesterday and today, all the fans are saying it's been really safe really clean. You stayed in your zones and and those are things that I tell you. What watching it on on the tube and And seeing fans given balls, the little kids. I just love that, and it was seen in so many different times. And I just think that's a big part of baseball. Itwas and like you say, there's there's some fans shamed and giving the ball to the little kids, but it was all in good fun. And you know what? It was very safe. It was absolutely safe. So I recommend anyone who has a chance to go and enjoy it. All right now, will you have a great Sunday evening? Thanks for the call. I really appreciate your time. You to you. Do I appreciate your doctor? All right, let's go to Bill in Modesto. Bill. How are you doing on a Sunday evening when the Giants air six and three in the first nine games? I am fantastic. Glad to hear that. Did you get to go the game today? Was yesterday's game. Beautiful, beautiful game. That was great game, Crawford hitting a home run. No, it was it was awesome. Friday at five o'clock in the evening. I go out going to get tickets online. Super easy and everyone I got there when the park opened. It was everybody was super good at it. They were. It was easy to get in. I'm fully vaccinated. So they're like, Go ahead. Go on, and Everybody was master, but he was super friendly ushers of great. There is sweet story, though. I was by myself, so I kind of watched round little bit ended up sitting right out right out at home plate off of third base. Lot of foul balls are coming. And when let me ask you, So let me ask you something. Does the Nets bother you as a fan? Because they've stretched the Nets out all the way down the line. Does that bother you at all? Well, little bit because my original speak was lower box like 1 35. So right. It's a foul ball on. Uh, nothing was hit that way. But then when I kind of worked my way to home base There were a lot of fell balls. There was one burly, bald headed guy through a super enthusiastic, gotta sell ball and walked it over to this little family with a three month old days gave it to him for the baby. I love them, And so the guy walked up the stairs right by me and said, Hey, he's gonna remember this three months old, his first baseball. That's right. And you know what? Sometimes you know you the kids are out there, too. For one thing, they're they're experiencing it. You know what a baseball for an adult is Not as important as for kid and the kid's going to remember the day what? He got it and who hit it. Those are all the good things that I remembered as a kid and You know, they brought it up earlier to call what I did for kids, and it was just I just felt that's what needs to be. You know, That's the game of baseball. You're passing it on to the next generation. And I'm glad you got to see that little baby thought was Dad. And he goes no. His dad's in the dugout. You the coach and the Giants dugout. Somebody in their brand new baby. I'm sorry. Didn't ask the coach's name, but yeah, they were out there with the baby. You know, heading out this super great. And, uh, I couldn't. It was so weird walking around because I haven't been around 8000 people for over a year on, uh But she felt safe. That's the thing you felt comfortable, and I think all giant fans have been mask and I think that's what they're really making it secure, Making people feel comfortable and friendly around him and That makes it all you know. Well done. Like you say The ushers are watching and kind of patrol on it, but being nice about it, and I think that's the plus of going to Oracle Park. The fans are good people. They're they're not vicious people and And that's what makes that comfortable feeling when you go to a game. Yeah, It was really great. They've taken that call me. I appreciate it. Thanks for the time. Let's go to Patrick and Motown. How you doing today? Patrick? No. Jackie Gleason had a favorite saying, I can't believe it. That's right. I remember it. I do. Remember that one. Patrick, My parents watch Jackie Gleason all the time. We got a We got a good single and a homer today we got a stolen base on the basis that I was so Keith, you get that one of the suspected you had? What? Baseball and I love Great pitch. I was watching a Dodger game. You know, tree? Nothing. The young kid they got McKinstry exactly concern me believing in our big guys with 10. It was a 33rd round draft pick. I was central Michigan. That's even a better story. Central Michigan the Mid American Conference gang ago, But here's a history for you. You grew up loving Ernie Harwell. Of course, we all know what the Tigers 40 some years, you know. If you do that you don't even see on Lee broadcaster ever to get traded for a baseball player. He was trade in the 1940 to tow the Brooklyn values for a player named Cliff Staffer D 18 P er snatcher who took over Mickey Cohen, Mickey owns was a Dodger Country. Of course, he's famous for that passed ball in the World Series, and I could go anyone But his cliff damper hit April 17 17 past He had 4 67. Then he blonde down to the minors again. And then the next week got drafted during the war time by the U. S navy. This guy he was he was He had 4 67, but very hard well, will go down in the street as the only broadcaster to every good training for a baseball player. Did not know that that's good. Ernie Harwell. I used to have the old trade sister under the pillow like we always did, and listening to the games and his voices echoed in my brain, you know, and he was a fabulous announcer and You know all the old tiger Dave's. There was this one after another, and he just made you feel like you were sitting right at the ball game at Tiger Stadium when he announced the game when he did the games. Remember his favorite same with a guy would take a third strike. He stood there like the house on the side of the road. That's great, too. Remember that e was famous? Oh, my goodness. That brings memories of right there. I do..

New York State Is Set to Raise Taxes on Those Earning Over $1 Million
"It's time to check in with our correspondent in the big apple. That's henry reese sheridan. Today he delves like an over caffeinated accountant into the controversial plan to raise taxes on the rich in new york. Take it away henry. New york contains an enormous number of very rich people. The figures for twenty twenty onto yet but in two thousand and nine thousand nine hundred ten thousand four hundred thirty five ultra high net worth individuals. There's people with more than thirty million. Us dollars in that worth called the big apple home. That's more than any other city in the world. New relationship to its rich residents is fraught one on the one hand. Presence of very rich people brings prestige spending power and lots of tax dollars on the other hand. New york city's rich are extremely good as segregating themselves from the rest of society particularly in the fields of education healthcare and housing when not extracting a service from them the less wealthy of new york no the richer here and they're told by politicians from the right to the center of the political spectrum to feel thankful for that but it can be difficult to understand whether tax dollars of the wealthier going when the city's basic infrastructure is in such bad shape politicians a scared to tax the rich as individual careerists. They fear wealthy donors will abandon them if taxes are raised and all but the most leftist governments tend to be swayed by the belief that the wealthy will leave if they are taxed too heavily. Decimating the tax base. This is why historically new york governor andrew cuomo has been soft on taxing the rich in fact cuomo is so scared of the rich leaving new york city. He's willing to go to extreme measures to keep them here.
Wet Notes - 4-9-21
"This is wet notes here scuba shock radio for april ninth two thousand and twenty one first up today. I'd like to give you an update on new netflix. Documentary see spiracy. You might recall that. I introduced you to this film in a previous segment of wet notes. Well it did premiere on netflix's advertised. And i had a chance to watch. She spiracy a couple of weeks ago. The film is eighty nine minutes long and it can be captivating and controversial. Like i said this is certainly raising a great deal controversy especially as it relates to sustainable seafood and fishing. There's a couple of organizations that they called out into spiracy earth island institute and the marine stewardship council actually marine stewardship council issued a response on their website within days of the premier and every day. I see something more coming out related to the controversy. But i encourage you to watch the film and then decide for yourself about what it is saying like. I said lots of controversy. That's spiracy on net flicks now. Here's something that. I found really interesting. I came across an article that talked about how scientists are using thin wales to map out what lies beneath the sea floor. Now according to to seismologists vaclav kina from the czech academy in prague and john nab elec of oregon state university in corvallis oregon the song of the fin. Whales are loud enough to penetrate the earth's crust and revealed deep structures. I guess they have a network of fifty four bottomed size meter seismometers that the tech sound waves traveling through the ground and they picked up the of whales as they were passing by. Now they have a one hundred and eighty nine decibels song and that song can last from two and a half to five hours as they did more analysis they were able to map the underlying rock structures. According to these guys this is just as effective as those air cannons that are polluting the ocean with all that noise how practical this is yet to be seen. But you've gotta admit it is interesting. Now here's an update on the lectured aluminum tanks situation. You might recall back at the end of february. I told you about luxembourg Decision to exit the aluminum tank business and that they were looking to sell their plants in the us and the uk more. Here's some good news. Metal impact out of elk grove village in illinois is acquiring the graham north carolina luxembourg cylinder plant metal impact is no stranger to scuba tank business. They've been around since nineteen fifty nine and in two thousand fourteen. They purchase worthington. Aluminum cylinders has been providing aluminum scuba tanks to excess scuba and see pearls for a number of years. We've got quite a few from excess scuba over the past couple of years and so we're pretty familiar with metal impacts. This is some good news for the. Us aluminum Scuba tank supply chain. There's absolutely no doubt that. The pandemic has had a dramatic impact on the scuba industry. But i guess it's not all bad news if you happen to be in the right place and it seems that hawaii is those right places especially for new diver certifications. There's a recent article in scuba diving magazine. Titled more hawaiians getting certified than before the pandemic turns out that even though the travel has been restricted to and from the islands more locals are turning to scuba aloha scuba on awad who had reported a one hundred and twenty percent increase in new diver certifications. In two thousand and twenty. They went from twenty seven in two thousand and nineteen to eighty three in two thousand and twenty spurred by whole families going for they're open water certification with some great diving. It certainly makes sense to mask up and dive in our aloha state. Last week i was trying to see if the ocean based climate solutions act of two thousand and twenty was being introduced in this session of congress. Well no update on that yet but i did come across something very interesting. There is a house select committee on the climate crisis now. This committee was created during the one hundred sixteenth congress. That was the last one so it hasn't been around long. But they did produce a climate action plan of two thousand twenty. And that's called the congressional action plan for a clean energy economy and a healthy resilient and just america committee is chaired by representative. Kathy castor from florida and the ranking chair is representative garrett graves from louisiana now. I watched their organizing meeting from march nineteenth. Let's say there's just a little bit of difference on the ideas of how to approach In the approaches in making the us carbon zero by two thousand fifty but as representative castor stated. It's time to turn recommendations into policy. Now i'll be tracking our actions and keep you updated here and finally you might recall. Last year the uss bonham rashard an eight hundred forty four foot long and fibia assault ship burned out of control for five days. Now that was in san diego california. But now senator. Marco rubio from florida is proposing that the ship be used to create an artificial reef down in florida little bit of background. The navy did some cost analysis On what it would take to restore the ship to operational status an estimated that that would be somewhere between two point. Five and three point five billion dollars but the cost to decommission and scrap the bonham rashard would be about thirty million dollars. Senator rubio didn't provide any details on where the ship might be sunk and be become an artificial reef but he did say that it could be done for less than thirty million dollars to scrap the ship. This word Happened it would be. We'll keep an eye on it and see where it goes. Fingers crossed that will have another artificial reef down in florida. Something that big to dive on. Well that's it for this installment of wet notes for april ninth. Two thousand and twenty

Coinbase Experiences Brisk User Growth Ahead of IPO
"Have to take a minute to go over coin basis. Insane q one numbers. We've always even spending a lot of time here this week. On coin base. They announced the date of their ipo last week. And it is slated for april fourteenth. Now part of the reason they delayed their ipo until q two was so that they could release their q. One numbers and boy were they. Monster in total coin base has over fifty six million verified users. Compare that for example to robin hood's thirteen million active users went from two point. Eight million in q four two thousand twenty to six point one million in q one twenty twenty one trading volume in q one was three hundred and thirty five billion compared to one hundred ninety three billion for all of two thousand twenty and total assets on coin base went from ninety billion to two hundred twenty three billion a one hundred and fifty percent jump quarter over. Quarter the craziest part of that one. And certainly validation of the institutional narrative was that one hundred and twenty two million of that two hundred and twenty three billion overall came from institutions. Now the number that people were most focused on was revenue. Revenue was one point eight billion for the quarter compared to one point three billion for all of last year and something that will be absolutely shocking to wall street. The company actually had a net income of seven hundred and thirty million to eight hundred million. Basically this is exactly what the crypto kids knew was coming but still caught. Many wall street analysts off guard. Da davidson raised their price. Target from one hundred ninety five dollars a share to four hundred forty that price target is a twenty x multiple on twenty twenty one revenue. They had previously estimated six hundred and fourteen million in q one revenue which was obviously about a billion dollars off this price target would put coin bases valuation at a whopping. One hundred and forty-four billion dollars

It's just people say whatever they want like people don't you know i don't really put a whole lot of value in other people's opinions. I trust the people that i trust. If i don't go to for advice. How Cauliflower Is Caught Up in Diet Culture
"Is cauliflower. Everything poisoned bunch is an excellent. I will start by not answering it. I'm gonna start by saying i think is cauliflower. Everything poison punch. I think it's rooted in diet culture. I think for me if we're looking at what cauliflower is in right like pizza pasta wraps posing as mashed potatoes even pancakes nowaday all of these things. I think. That's a real representation of diet cultures. Carb phobia right there. Let's take this vegetable and try to put it anywhere that we're finding carbs to make something lower in carbs. So i think that messaging inherently wrong is like pretty rooted in diet culture. It's like oh you can have this if you have like the cauliflower and if we're looking at the marketing and advertising associated with that right like what you're saying like the more is more rate more per serving or You know just saying like this is like a superfood situation you know like all the kind of diet trophy Tape things are usually present when it when it comes to that. So if i'm like even looking at some of the labels it's just like on mine it's like two grams. Net carp rightly specifically targeting. People who are like trying to avoid carbs for some reason and so. I think that that that in of itself is really really problematic. And i think it's not necessarily happening in an effort to be like let's add more vegetables cheer diet and while that might be some of the messaging is often than ever to help. Reinforce the notion that like the enemy and your body can't handle those

I don't think that's what's good. That's going to be the case for joe. Dick whatever certain things that. I wasn't familiar with that. I got familiar with over the last twelve months and some of them are in my vocabulary. Like cova wasn't in my vocabulary. Pandemic wasn't any how 'bout insurrection. That was not in mob. That book was made into an hbo movie. That was jack newfield. Jack newfield used to have boxing. How would i put it soirees at his house right. Teddy atlas me. Before we were on tv together whole bunch of people go over to jack newfield house and watch old fights leading up to a pay per view fight. We'd all be about fifteen or twenty people in. The room is funny about half of the guys who weren't in. The boxing industry were fbi and the other half were mob like in the same room watching watching old fights. That's the box and crowd anyway. Jack newfield us to say he used to call them the three anti christ's of the twentieth century. He would literally named to dictators. I don't even wanna drop their names on the radio and walter o'malley who took took the brooklyn dodgers to la. That's how people from brooklyn felt about it and then the nets come to brooklyn a basketball obsessed. New york is basketball before. It's anything else by the way by far the reason it's baseball's because the yankees are the greatest franchise in the history of world sports by far by the way. So if you have that of course you know. People will pay attention to it because you usually winning championships. And football's huge the rest of the country and it's big new york too but giants big in new york but basketball is the new york game. Because there's not a lot of space but you can play basketball with one person in a very invent with very little space or five on five right. That basketball is called new york game and yet in new york been subjected to the most pathetic franchise the knicks. There's such disgusting laughing stock that they can't get people to take their money number. They were creating kristaps porzingis. Because we're trying to build for the future hold on dummies your trading a franchise unicorn on his rookie deal to build for the future. Do you remember the houston rockets. Going we have to trade hakim because we need draft picks for the future the spurs. Go ahead we got rid of dunkin draft picks for the future dirt nowitzki on his rookie deal in dallas draft. Picks for the future. Could you imagine nonsense. And then they wound up. Julius randle the only guy who would take their money. Here's ten million julius randle. We can't get anyone else to take it. Jewish men's great. I can't get anywhere else to give you the money. It was ten million year. Wasn't it wasn't twenty million a year. Who's twenty chris. Twenty twenty point eighty million for four years. They gave julius randle eighty four even better than junior anyway. Oh my god. It's so good anyway. What choice did you have now. That against that backdrop no team in brooklyn in any sport not only. Do you get a team in brooklyn after decades after sixty five years but it's basketball team. That's what the city really want. And it's not just the basketball team. It's dr jason franchise and it's not just dr jesus old franchise key eta on it. And it's not just the k. D. and re rod james harden west their. Do you understand if you win a championship. Let me give you a little evidence in nineteen. I don't know maybe eighty six or eighty seven. You get great seats to a yankee game. One hundred bucks a giants. Give me two hundred bucks something like that. If you want to sit courtside for knicks game floor seats for a knicks game. It was fifteen hundred dollars. A thousand fifteen hundred dollars do far the only place in manhattan right brooklyn right there though. It's not you gotta go out to jersey your way up to the bronx and it's basketball and it's the do you understand if the next sorry if the nets knows about the knicks if the nets got hard and even if they don't just with katie and kyrie floor seats are going to cost for the net if you win a championship in brooklyn brooklyn rings bells around the world in a way that like i was born in the bronx my parents for the bronx. "You don't get everything you want. And I love that back and forth and I I really don't want to spend more time talking about it because he's a really big important games. But Chris Paul has no reason to say anything because. There were two calls against the rockets and you know how I feel about the rockets and they're complaining about officiating but the two calls against the rockets in the last minute or I guess was the last two minutes the James Harden loose ball foul was, and in Sane call I I might have if I was a coach I might have gotten injected on that play just like two nights ago I might have gotten ejected if I was nick nurse when Marcus smart flopped on the break was one of the greatest flops of ever seen may we'll talk about maybe we won't. I if I was, I, might have gotten ejected. Okay. I'm just saying. I declared myself the judge case dismissed okay. Case dismissed McMahon. You wrote a really good story today about this game. One of your points was the defense to James Harden and the rockets played, and while James Harden gave another offense of Dud in game seven. Four, fifteen shooting. The rockets I wanna point something out the rockets won a game game seven. Where they scored one hundred and four points you WanNa know how many times this year the rockets, one game that they scored one hundred four points or less once, and it was in November. The rockets won that game with Defense Mcmahon and you wrote all about the rockets won that series would defense I mean. They've got the best defensive rating so far in these bubble play offs and you know. A lot of ways I think James. Harden's reputation was on the line when Lou Dort cop that Paul away and he was open for a second there because if dort knocks that down, we're talking right now about James Harden another elimination game debacle in Oh I mean we're talking about Chris Paul. Beaten the team that dumped them. we're talking about, okay. You Know Chris Paul said, some guys are built for these fourth quarter. Some guys are built for game sevens. I've James Harden is is he not one of those guys but he comes up with a way to make a defensive play to save the series to save so far the rockets season and and you know he he was so. Satisfied with that because obviously, his reputation for years has been that he's a guy who does not give a damn defensively in if you've watched him for the last few years, that's an outdated reputation, and so there was a lot of pride. From Harden in the fact that the biggest play that he's made this season was on the defensive end the floor. Kirk By the way. One more thing. is showing my edicts from the bench here Chris. Paul got done dirty by the rockets with the way they traded him but I, like to point out the Chris Paul himself as demanded traits twice in his career including saying I'm only going to be traded to this team. So again. Case dismissed on that front Kirk sorry McMahon and I have been filibustering a little motion early in the morning here You've extensively. reviewed James. Harden's offense but his defense in the series, an overall rocks defense, they won the series as McMahon said with that defense. Yeah. I'm a I'm a harden August by trade happened for years and look a lot of people are hard on him McMahon. Did a great job. I recommend everybody read the piece. But yeah. I've also designed game plans against James in in the playoffs and studied his every move and it's fair at this point the question, his offense performances and his defensive performances in the playoffs is a tendency to vanish a big moments. He only had four buckets last night we're not making this up in at the end of game six don't forget he kinda disappeared too but let me be crystal clear about one thing that guy made the biggest play of the game in crunch time last night and he did it on defenses Tim set. Lou Dort was about to like twitter on fire with that three point shot. If he had made that shod Mike Dantonio might be from Houston. Who knows who else has gone from Houston. It would trigger all this discussion that we're not having today but instead James Harden who was buddying up Stephen Adams in the paint if you re watch that play. He came from the restricted area in about two seconds to put a finger on that shot the most important block shot of the season my opinion maybe the the best defensive play of the season Most true that yet another dicey game on offense and it's fair to put that sort of box score in his shameful resume of postseason play A. The actions he took in the last few seconds of that game ensure Houston went on to the next round They won four games in the series harden averaged thirty points per game in this series more than anyone else, and now is team advances onto to play. Lebron. James. So it wasn't as great as game. It was another sort of dead on offense. But it's hard to criticize him for not being club twenty made that defensive play at the end of the game somebody who who does deserve I think a little bit of criticism for the end of game seven last night as Billy Donna absolutely and he had a few timeouts and he could have stopped the game and drama play to get a really good shot and then when he did. Finally call a timeout, a T. O. failed. So it failed three times yet. So I mean if we're talking about clutch in who showed up and who didn't at the very end of the very important game seven James, Harden deserve some credibility billy Donovan might deserve a little bit of a of Shadier today Oh. Also I I'm not a hundred percent. Sure on the rule here Be said on the broadcast last night that after that away from the ball foul. That was called which was the other insane call that wasn't Scott Foster who? Actually, made that call but it's got foster allowed allowed to be made. That was that was when the things officially became a mess They said that any anybody was allowed to shoot that free it almost works like technical. It doesn't have to be the guy who was fouled. I actually just I. Don't know the Rule Chris Paul was the guy who was fouled. So okay. All right. So so why does Danilo Gallinari who was having one of the worst games of the season? Why is the Nilo Galadari take that? I know that he's a good. He's a ninety percent free throw shooter because some some guys are built for those games sevens those those late fourth quarters you know. Some some Guy I listen Chris Paul is best closer in basketball this year I mean statistically it's not closed. Numbers are just astounding that he his closing abilities. The reason this thing went to seven games is the reason the thunder won three games in the series. He didn't close game seven though crunch time game seven, he took a shot that he missed committed a turnover. Committed a foul and those whose only stats crunch time. So if if you'RE GONNA if you're GonNa, you know beat your chest and. Tony Double teamed him when they came down they double team like they're you know they're not gonna now. I would I would argue that may be nobody that I know of studied..

"Who's joining us from Dallas had to cover that game last night between the thunder and rockets. So Tim, McMahon We WanNa drag you out until two or three in the morning I know I know that never happens to usually go to bed early yeah. I'm a definitely a early to to bed. Kinda guy when to you know that but I appreciate, let me get a little bit of beauty sleep. And joining us is our second favorite Texan sorry. Kirk now what the heck. But I mean Texas a big states saying your second favorite. Texan. Way Behind Dirk. Is Hurt Berry joining us from Austin Deepen Heart Texas. Is Austin Texas in Dallas. Not. GonNa get into that fight. Austin is a little slice of California in the middle of tax. Evolved him weird is the slogan. So way too much officiating stuff way too much officiating stuff I. I don't know if not for that delay of game in in in the second quarter of the thunder could have won that Scott Foster versus Chris Paul. Here let me just say something about Scott Foster. Chris Paul. Is is made hundreds over one hundred, million dollars playing basketball maybe two, hundred, million bytes done I haven't told up so he doesn't need another job but if he ever wanted to get another job, he could be a lawyer Oh. Yeah. He says he's very good at presenting one side of the case. Very passionately. Did I like Scott Foster demonstrative -Ly Doing Scott Foster things at the end of that game no I did not. That was not a happy thing for for anybody to see I'm sure everybody league office when they skoll. Scott foster run from forty feet away to call a loose ball foul on James Harden they were like, oh no, he didn't have to jump off the top turnbuckle before either and being like six seconds late. Like to point out to help out his old pal Chris Paul. Why Chris. Bring that up in the Post that's what I'm saying. So so first off coming into this game. The rockets had lost seven consecutive games in the playoffs officiated by Scott Foster. So they're clearly the aggrieved party there's the rockets who. who have effectively blamed the two thousand seventeen lost two, thousand, eighteen eighteen two, thousand, eighteen, game, seven loss to the to the warriors. They've blamed it on Scott Foster, and by the way, if you look at the film, there are a few plays where Scott Foster makes very strange calls look against the rockets. and. Fair point I also point out they miss twenty seven consecutive threes but no, it's got fosters fact. So definitely, rockets have no chance last night oh. Oh Oh. Oh, wait a minute. But Chris Paul. Chris Paul had lost nine consecutive playoff games raft by Scott Foster. Yeah. The Rock and the rockets bad run with Scott foster startling CPA three out there and it's ep through the guy who wants after a rockets regular season win declared Scott Foster he the man that's who they pay to see. We'll see everybody's everybody's right here. You Know Scott Foster is difficulties difficult. Everybody they hate him in Golden State to okay. and. So like you know after the Game Chris, Paul says well, Scott Foster came up to me and said, you know I officiated game seven and two, thousand eight when you lost with the Hornets Chris Chris Presents that like what are you talking about I'm like Dude, he he officiated game seven two years ago when you lots. And ten years ago I mean. Go Chris was sitting on the sideline with a ham but yeah. Okay fine, but it's it gets against his team, right? So. My point is Scott Foster. Is that for most people? And the whole Chris Paul Complaining About Gamesmanship Room Boy. Chris. Paul leads the history of the NBA and Gamesmanship. He he complained after the game. I actually think Scott Foster saying to Chris. Paul like you know Frost Nixon. That famous series of debates in the sixties and seventies between the David Frost and and Richard Nixon, they made a movie made a play about it this classic debate between these two strong-willed guys I wanNA see at the end of their careers. Fr. foster Paul. I think it'd be. Because Scott Foster coming to Chris Paul and saying by the way. You know I officiate your game. You lost in two thousand eight as well. Was, in my view him saying to Chris Paul Yeah, I've I've I've read a lot of games that you've lost and you've been losing games for a long. I think that was his way of saying it was his way of Cohen writing the Chris. Paul's face before leading Chris Paul go into his and then Chris Paul tells the story about how in the. They play the replaced very quickly. And it's an advantage if you want to decide whether it's a challenge or not if you can delay a little bit to see the replay. So Chris Paul. There's a there's a play in the second quarter where they may challenge Chris, Paul gets down to tie his shoe. And he's doing it. He admits. He's doing it to allow. Billy Donovan to see the replay on one of the boards and Chris and Scott Foster comes up to them and says, Hey, Chris, you don't got to do that. I already got the ball boys wiping off the floor. which is Scott Fosters way of saying, I know what you're doing Chris. And I've already wants one up to you and then Chris is like, well, I'm GonNa one up you again and I'm going to keep tying my shoe and Scott fosters like. Cool Dude delay again. I like Chris is accusing Scott. Foster of like some sort of wrongdoing I think he's giving Chris Paul. Zone medicine right back and I like it. Because Chris Paul was the guy who played with the lay game south with technical or A. Shirt and made Scott Foster call up the owners that was called was because Scott Foster new. If he didn't call it and he didn't enforce the rules that his old nemesis CPI three was going to make a huge deal of he bullied him into it. Right. So this is why I love the fact that the NBA assigned Scott Foster to this game. Because it's basically saying Chris..

But we did have a massive upset earlier today for people just tuning in an upset that we haven't seen in over twenty years. It was the Brooklyn Nets over the Milwaukee Bucks one, nine, thousand, nine, hundred, sixteen earlier in Orlando one game. If. We Played Him ten times they might win nine. Game. Not Tonight. We're not quake nine out of ten, but rather eighty, six, straight eighty, six straight times since eighteen ninety-five a favorite in the NBA of more than seventeen point has won the game until this afternoon walkie bucks go down. Brooklyn Nets Win Now. You ask me how unusual is this rj that a non home team is this big of a favor amongst those eighty six teams. Eighty six of them were home teams. So. This is the biggest non home favourite we've seen in recorded point spread history we trust going back to nineteen, ninety, five, twenty, five years. And by the way, we have a new trend. If you have a favorite of more than seventeen points isn't at home. Oh in one. Yes that's true. Hey I don't know if that is worthy of applying next time but and what's interesting is. Is, this really is almost like a rudy moment. And it shows you how much talent there is I mean. This was effectively a G. League squad for the nets they only had. They had seven of nine players. Played in their last game in March. So let's say that last game in March was the key. Only, two of the nine were there. So literally, a team that was decimated without hiree without durant then lost seven of their nine best players. And eight of the eleven nets players have played in a G. League game. This season three of the nets starters were undrafted..

"Are you may the Lakers in another ten yeah it's in the nets coaches I called time out the Lakers are now shooting from three fourteen of twenty three right back AT for Bradley three point five good we got lebron opinion wanna put back ninety two eighty three the Lakers by nine one oh seven ninety six the Lakers in front by eleven here's a three by good the Lakers nine T. three of the game John Ireland on the Lakers radio network you know what's not included in that montage of highlights the nets made twenty one triples so between the two teams they made forty threes now that that would be a good shooting night relatively good shooting night the two teams combined for about forty eight percent from beyond the arc each team took nearly a hundred shot and more than a thirty captain basin in fact in the case of the net she said in fact in case of the in the case of the nets nearly half they're actually more than half their shots were from downtown this is why you my passion for NBA hoops is shrinking and I talked about this earlier in the week and I I posted the diagram that that member I talked about it or if you weren't with me I did talk about it on my Twitter I encourage you to find it a law radio there is maybe producer Chris can re tweet from our show account after our CVS there's a a chart that I recently found about the only works in the media and that access to the information top two hundred shot locations in the NBA twenty years ago verses they see them and right now the mid range jumper is nonexistent in fact you have you know you have the shop the people take from within five six feet a lot of those offered to put back lay ups dogs and then you have the three point shot it's incredible how much the game is changed and how much NBA teams rely on the three point shot no when you shoot them well like the Lakers and the net did it on on a Thursday night what I know it can be entertaining I get it but when you have a James harden shooting one for seventeen from downtown it makes me want to poke my eyes out I have a really hard time getting excited about NBA hoops especially when I'm watching teams that rely so heavily on the three lebron James his tenth triple double of the season and this was a season high nineteen triples for the Lakers as they pulled away from the net thing high reach Irving and actually lebron close within seventeen point of Kobe Bryant for third on the NBA's all time scoring list so that may happen this weekend as well that lebron overtakes Kobe to be a link with the great.

"Just I tell people all the time when people around me just extend from my from my Kiddos and Two beautiful children. I'm Maree Anne. Amirah wants to was eight months so that was for them and I have a lot more work to do to be able to take care of myself when you dream about what it might be like to get had a contract with the NBA already getting paid any NBA. You're on a rookie contract. But it's different when you sign that first extension I think had you always imagined. What am I feel like or what you would think did you? was that something you even dreamed about or did you just thought about playing that so much signing the contract I mean Be Honest with you coming from where I come from. Bentiu what I've been through That's definitely one of the main reasons. Play this game is not necessarily for the idea of money but to be able to take care of people around me and I think that's the blessing within this all is editor allow people to see and do things that they never thought they could do. Taking family places outside the country. They never thought they would be able to go. Being received gifts on Christmas That they I never thought that they'd be able to do again. So is big for me to just continue to work my tail off to be able to continue to give that to the people from was the first time you traveled. I know you did some USA basketball when you were in college right when your world is so small when you're living in a city and you're trying to find a place the world probably feels not big right. Feels Street to street block. was that something that resonated with you when basketball started taking you some places yeah Definitely was especially you said in college that same routine uh-huh in the league. We have the same routine and I'm big on adapting to any situation on my way just adapted and taking it for what it is lot of people don't know this but my first college game that I was ever visited or been to the one why to my better Jersey on My first NBA. Game that I've ever been to was And then hawks game where I was actually a part of so I was never the child to go watch college basketball goto NBA Games. I was just more focused on family. do what I do to be there for my my younger brother whose father pass before he was born Being for my mother sometimes couldn't even go to high school basketball after practice. Because I had come on watch my siblings but everything happens for a reason I do it all over again. Thomas Ten then In a great position to continue to take care Mar.. He you talk about that adaptability and you've had it in your life and it's a pretty good. It's a pretty important quality in this league. It's not just where you get. Traded and changed changed teams but teammates are changing coaches. Change like you'll never. It's pretty rare in this league where you have a framework that just keeps this going and I. I do think that's imagine you see that around you not everybody adapts to it real well agree It'll take you a long away here allow your mind not to focus on the quote unquote negative things that you may think are negative but Allow you to reverse it into a positive. And like I said the mind is the my has a strength to move move cars and boulders And then the grand scheme of things so if if you look at it that way. Am You if you allow negative situations to allow your mind to think negative. It's only gonNA turn into an another negative situation so I try to stay positive due out every situation in life and I know that there's always a brighter sides of the darkness torn. You'll play again with Kyrie here. I probably fairly early soon. Kevin Durant is rehabbing and planners he'll play next season. You live in the present but when you think about what it might what you expect it's going to be like your chance to compete for titles and you. You're starting to get a sense of Kenny Atkinson new organization the the other guys. You're playing with what what what imagine. This is all GonNa look like you know maybe by next by next year. Oh Man I don't know it's hard to. It's hard to think that for especially for for myself. I'm big on staying in the president and take advantage of the now but if I had to guess awesome mega very educated. Guess I think we definitely have the ability and obviously the the right Primary pieces to be champions It's all about the everyday work though is all about being consistent and Doing the same thing every day to in order to get better and not not I selling on just being good and I think those are the teams that ended up making it all the way. The ones who aren't satisfied on just being good and they want to get every single possession correct and I think the more that you think that way the more you have to be champions Taurean. Thanks for doing this. I'm not for sure thank humor. Thanks for listening to this assode awards. Pot A big. Thank you to our guest. Brooklyn Nets forward Taurean Prince. "Free agent or two including zoom ably kyri Irving, Frank. This is pretty ambitious stuff. Do you expect? The nets will be full. Fill their ambitions, Sean marks general manager is a pretty smart guy showing marks doing all this without knowing that he might be getting one of these guys, I have to believe that he knows something. Then that's the way that all this time to finally have a first round pick of their own and other early trading away something's up and I'll tell you this, Michael, I love to towns over from Kyrie Irving and the last week. I've had more people come up to me, and tell me I saw Kyrie Irving. I there's more career having citing his. And people are convinced that he's come into the Brooklyn s remember this though, Lakers have money, clippers have money the nets have money to get to. And when the Knicks traded Chris presents ended that believing they can get to. Maybe those two will be Kevin Durant, and Kemba Walker. But from all indications that looks like Kyrie Irving is going to the Brooklyn nets. Well from coast to coast, you there whereas right, under your nose, apparently, and all the way out here. I mean, that's what we're hearing. That's what current players. Former players executives, you know, agents, everybody's talking about, is, you know, I would just say this we're talking about the nets fulfilling their ambitious and shuts on marks, I really think seems to have a handle on what is he's trying to do, but I must say this. They have another guy with kyri who's going to be a leader. Okay. And that's an important thing. I don't think Irving can be the number one player can't be one. It can be one be if you will is proven that and there's nothing about what he's done. This time. In the NBA where he can be seen as a leader. And he wasn't in college basketball long enough about eleven games to choose to leave at any level that matters. So there's got to be another guy the Brooklyn nets feel. They have on the hook in order to fulfill. These ambitions of my well, they're gonna shoot for the stars. The Kevin Durant, or Kaleida. Join Kyrie Irving. Maybe it'll be somebody like device, but follow the bouncing ball, Michael Cairo Irving ended up in Boston, because the Celtics acquired all those assets from the Paul Pierce, Kevin, Garnett trade with the Brinkley, those use some of those assets, I right now, you may end up with the nets unbelievable circle for amazing how it all works out. All right. All of Boston led by Bruins head coach Bruce, Cassidy is screaming foul today. Following the Saint Louis blues to one winning game five, the decisive goal came seconds after the blues Tyler Bosak trip. Noel, Chari who hit his head on the ice and was taken out of the play. Michael the NHL refused to comment on what it says a judgment call while Cassidy call the fish..

"He just been extremely mature and professional with his approach throughout the entire season. In team do anything for him after the all star selection was now, obviously we are all extremely excited from. I think we most of us found out when we were on the plane going from San Antonio tour Landau. And so you know, we were just obviously extremely excited. You know, we're excited for Rhody and Jarrett do playing in the rising stars game as well. Yeah. It's pretty awesome. Just the fact that you've seen somebody put in so much work. And like I said I've seen him since this summer has focused his attention to detail about professional. His approach has been you know, he's very deserving obviously with well. He's played. But more importantly, just for where he's you know, kind of worries come from with his approach. He's earned it. Get to the breaking news at terrorists. Look in in practice today. I gotta be honest. I actually didn't practice, but he from what I heard. Looks great and was moving really well him and Alan bullet. You know, I don't know exactly what the timetable is on them. You know, obviously, there's no reason to rush guys back that are coming back from fairly significant injuries. But obviously when when they are back. I mean, we're extremely excited about it. Just to add, you know, more of a healthy bodies to to the roster and guys that are are big time players for us. It was funny because when when Kerris went down, I think the overall assessment was that cares was the nets best player at that moment. And since that time Spencer really emerged the Angela's now in all star. Yeah. Terrorists coming back to that. As the guy who has the skills to be among your best players, clearly definitely and can defend multiple positions. All that. I mean to strengthen your yourselves that this moment secure that playoff spot is is incredible. This huge is really is. You know, we, you know, obviously, we went from being an extremely difficult position with guys going down. But like I said the opportunity present. It'd allowed guys to really step up and absorb different roles. And now we're in a fortunate position where we get these guys back and just add to what we've already built on. How many games did you play with the kitten charge? Your basketball reference page is nothing, but a long list of you being sent down and recall. Yeah, I don't know. How many of are just practice days were they had quite a bit. If you play too. I did play. Yeah. I play. I didn't. I played probably I don't know. Maybe like ten fifteen games or so was that meaningful that it do anything for you? Well, yeah. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, so when you're when you're in in the midst of the grind of the NBA season, especially when I was in Cleveland, you know, obviously, I was playing a little bit early on. But I wasn't really in a position to learn through a lot of mistakes I made mistakes. I was coming out. You know, we were a championship caliber team. And if you weren't playing championship caliber basketball, you just you're not going to be in. And for me, I guess from a development standpoint sort of selfishly there. There's no benefit to me. I mean, there has been a fit to me sitting and watching and objectively just learning. But there's another thing to have the experience of being able to play, and, you know, going even just practicing in canton. And then playing in the games was extremely beneficial for me for my development. You know, some really coaches our they're actually a lot of guys in the NBA. Now, you know, whether it was, you know, the strains coach trains coach at the time that I was there is now a strength coach in Charlotte. You know, Jordan Fernandez is an assistant with the nuggets. Mike bts is an assistant in Orlando. So guys are you know, they themselves have have planned significant roles in the NBA. And I learned a lot just being there from good good coaches. Good people. Good organization. I looked this up because I was curious the the NBA finals in two thousand fifteen. Yeah. Eleven seconds. You played the last eleven seconds of game seven. Yes..

"And they were the ones that we were kind of starting to shift one way when we were in the midst of that losing streak that kind of brought us back steered us back in the right direction. And I think once we got a win against Toronto confidence sort of shifted a little bit then. And then we just kind of built on that. And really, you know since that game is sort of springboard at us into where we're at now, obviously, we've we've built with the a few unfortunate injuries here lately as well. But guys are just spent stepped up taking advantage of their opportunities. And you know, again at all. Kind of on the hate to just be dead horse. But it all comes back to you know, what we're trying to build here culturally. I think when you when you get some into stab the way that we have is not just one through five or one through eight it's one through fifteen and everybody steps up in understand sixty -nificant of their role. We would that word culture comes up a lot. You've you've alluded to it. We talk about it in the NBA all the time. What does that mean specifically to this Brooklyn nets team when when you guys talk about culture when you're trying to describe it that might mean different things in different franchises. Can you are later define? Like, what is is the nets culture? It's exactly what I was just saying about being about the process the day in and day out. You know, you're focused being deliberate and practice and consistent with your habits. So here, obviously, we have an emphasis on sort of individual development. Kenny has got a background in that. And you know, that that that's been a focus since from the moment. I got here. Individually trying to improve yourself for the collective and better betterment of the team, and I think guys buying in. Obviously we have a lot of guys selfless guys guys that are not necessary. Sort of egotistical superstars anything like that. We have guys that we know we have to do collectively night tonight out. It's not going to be one guy. Obviously, didn't you know, we might have big outings from from Dangelo from Spencer, cares, whoever it might be. But we know that in order for us to have success. It has to be done collectively. And I think that that's what that's what culture means for us is just, you know, being consistent with your habits and deliberate in that practice, and knowing that, you know, it's not it's..

"They might as well, man. Make it a family affair. It's their town. I want to get into some other stuff. But actually, you mentioned it. So I do I want to ask the promotional video. You guys did to try to get you into the three point test itself was a work of art there. How many eggs did you break? How how many oranges did you bruise? That looked like a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun. The eggs were were tricky one. They actually hard boiled them initially had me shoot the Harbaugh they into the pan. And then we dropped a normal egg into the pan and kind of like, you know, Photoshop together. But there are a couple couple MRs in my apartment had some eggs splattered all over the place, which was funny. The oranges was the easiest one. Definitely I actually didn't miss any of those surprisingly. And the only thing was you know, you take a couple of practice runs. You're going to have like twelve oranges. You're ended up buying that you pretty much useless because they guy they're all beat up. That was great. And then I I don't know how much movie magic is behind this the shot over the Oculus that that that was all movie magic right there. I wish I could shoot it over the Oculus. But yeah that that and the tip jar. I needed a little help on that. And you know, thankfully, the nets media department can work their magic on that a little bit. Yeah. No kudos to the FX. People spend whoever whoever did the the ball over the Oculus. They definitely made a little bit of the good is hilarious video. That was fantastic. And it worked you're in the story of the nets season. And of this of this moment in time for the nets is very much one of you know, the overachievers it seems like there there's this the narrative that has emerged, and I think for good reason is a team that obviously had a very difficult run. The last few years just trying to recoup players talents just build it back up again. And you guys are in a phenomenal position right now very much in the in the mix for the playoffs. And to an extent you are the meal. Do you are you are the perfect representation of that? Because you like Spencer Dinwiddie like some others on this roster were either passed over or cast off at at some point. That's easy for us to write as a narrative as reporters who covered the NBA is does it feel the same even within these walls here at the nets facility like it is that persona something that is tangible as it disgust that there's a common thread. Running through a lot of us. Yeah. I think you know, you look back when Sean I took the job, obviously, they didn't have any picks. They had to get creative with how they're going to bring on younger players to the organization, obviously, you're trying to find guys that you think, you know, maybe we're overlooked at one point or another still have a second chance. But then do they fit the culture of what what they're trying to build here. And you know, every young player that they've bought in across the board, including myself, I think has fit just called truly more than anything else. You know? They're about the right stuff professional of Ziguinchor. A you know worker tail off to prove yourself a little bit of a chip on your shoulder so to speak. You know, when you get a guy a group of guys that are collectively like that. You know, you're building a solid foundation. And that's kind of where we started. And what we've built on is it actually discussed like have you ever treated notes Spencer? Did what he of course. Yeah. Cut a couple of times. You were you know traded and then cut Dangelo Russell number two overall pick. So came into the league with with all of the expectations and hype and the Lakers. Look, there's a fifty reasons we could say that made the trade, but it comes right down to it..
