Fresh "nats" from Pro Football Talk with Mike Florio
"Go to the phones. Nat is in Montgomery here on CBS Sports Radio Nat. Good morning. Good morning, DEA. How are you, sir? I'm good. How you doing, buddy? Pretty good. How coming Carmela, But real quick. I just want to say to you and bogus morale and Belotti. I mean, during this whole pandemic, y'all have really kept a lot of us saying And found ways that even with little sticks it it's still the show and we all really appreciate you. I appreciate you very much, man. Thank you. Very welcome on I want Teo Ah, kind of echo what you're saying on Carmelo and just add that it's got to be really hard for somebody that came out of college. As Not as big as LeBron but winning a national championship for Boeheim and being the man and he loves me a lot of self inflicted wounds. In the media has kind of been silly kind of a stupid at times, but It's really hard for any person to Pack that he'd go in and change who they are a little bit as they get older, Ah, and accept their role, especially this diminishing and For him to see his friends. And he said, do all this and to take on this role. That he's kind of always quietly done for all the stuff. He's done out loud the way on the U. S teams that he's always kind of been that quiet leader. Not complained and gone. And you know, one gold medals that I just Ah, while he's never gonna be one of my favorite players I love that you brought him up and seeing that he's ah! He's gonna finish out his career in a classy way. And we appreciate it, dear. You have a good day, you two man. Thanks So much for the phone call. Thanks So much for the kind words. I appreciate that and You're right about Teamusa. Carmelo Anthony hasn't always been a great leader. Let's face it. He wasn't a great leader in Denver. He wasn't a great leader in New York with the Knicks, he seemed to bristle at the idea that he could ever be a bench guy in Oklahoma City, so Yes, Carmelo's made his own bed but with Teamusa Guys have loved him. They've loved playing with him. The coaches have loved him as well. And he's been a winner. There now. A lot of people are winners Teamusa, but I think it's interesting to watch him evolve now into this role of the Blazers, and I like seeing it. And I think you're right, watching his friends with all of these actually, to get all this attention and him kind of being seen as a bit of the punch line out of those guys. It feels good to see him finally get some credit as His career is winding down. Our tollfree line sponsored by Geico. Did you know that right.
MLB shuts down Marlins and Phillies, revises schedule for NL East, AL East teams amid COVID-19 outbreak
"Yesterday. Four additional members of the marlins tested positive that brings the total to seventeen members of their traveling party so that then lead to well, the nationals had been scheduled to play a three game series against the marlins starting Friday. In Miami. A majority of the Washington players voted against that yesterday, the decision on whether Games are played. Played rests with Major League Baseball, however, not with the nationals, but the league then did agree with the nats and postponed all of Miami's games through Sunday. So they're now not scheduled to play basically for the rest of the week that includes games originally scheduled for today and tomorrow in Baltimore against the Orioles, who will now instead host the Yankees for two game series starting tonight. Remember the Yankees had two games canceled or postponed that we're supposed to be in Philadelphia over the last couple of days. So Jeff here they are major league baseball for perfectly understandable reasons rearranging their schedule on the fly. What more can you tell us? Greenie. A schedule is a schedule, and till it is not and that's the scenario that Major League baseball is facing right now with the Miami Marlins. The idea that they are even going to complete sixty games simply is not possible at this point there points in the schedule where they can make up that three-game series against the nationals possibly, but the four games that they're going to be missing against. The Baltimore? Orioles. Orioles, they don't have enough off days to do that. Let alone to string series together like this. So Major League Baseball's looking scenario in which at least one team or two. If you include, the Orioles are going to be playing fewer than sixty games. Now, it helps that the marlins are probably going to be at the bottom of the National League east the Orioles are going to be at the bottom of. Of, the American League East, that these aren't the teams that are going to be in playoff contention that said this may not be the only time. We see this happen during this season. So at least there is a precedent being set early

and it's one of my patients that was my patient two years prior and he had just been let out of a jail with no meds no treatment no nothing and told to just give a promise to link up with his doctor he did call me but by this time he was calling me to tell me how many banks he owns and how much money he had and how great he was doing because he was fully manic doctor tester has blurred some of the details of the case to protect the identity says there's no way a person in his state could consent to sharing his story and she's giving the name Bobby he was on the bus when he was on the phone with me he's using drugs and alcohol he's without treatment he has really think he needs treatment he doesn't even know how to keep themselves safe from corona virus because he thinks the whole thing is like a trip by the government and its martial law and it's it's a whole lot of nothing that needs to be worried about Dr testis is this call from a bus this is not the way to get started with the patient if you want any chance of helping someone begin a new life after prison you need to start the minute they walk out that Kate and what's missing right now more than ever is a handoff from the jail or prison to the people who can help the problem is is that if we don't even know that they're out we're gonna lose them at this point Bobby has had weeks on the street without medication making choices that could hurt him how are you coping all doctor tester can do is wait for his calls any fever or coughing anything like that trouble breathing it's possible that I'm just the only person in his life that he can think of that I'll pick up the phone and talk to him right now I spend the next several weeks checking in to see how those conversations are going tell me back to test is going to somehow coax him off the bus off the streets and into her office for help I know we miss you too we miss you too when she was young Dr testa had a close family member with mental illness who like so many ended up behind bars she remembers sending letters to the prison now she's part of a team of doctors and counselors and case workers whose mission is to help people with mental health problems exit the criminal justice system she works for recovery resources one of a network of agencies that contract with the state and county to set up housing healthcare re have ideally the movement of prisoners released they'll pick him up they'll try to get his income sorted out I'll take him to family services they'll try to get in food stamps the taken shopping again and clothing of help in the fight for jobs but when cove in nineteen hits they had to pull back dramatically to comply with the higher shut down order they can't drive people places so much is closed anyway only a few people at a time are allowed to come to their office for appointments the normally full waiting room there's only one person there K. sitting in the corner wearing a mask a lot of their services from psych evaluations to group counseling are on the phone or over computers which is hard for everyone do you guys want me nobody saying hi there well there are needed okay thank it's the reporter for that thing I'm doing radio radio anathema studies a social worker Dr testa works closely with him Donovan she's also been recording herself while she spends a frustrating amount of time searching for the people she's supposed to be helping you give me the address on the vetting right now she's trying to find Jermaine who was among the nine hundred inmates released from jail in Cleveland after cove it hit Jermaine has schizo affective disorder among other things so it is eleven forty eight it's a nats here trying to locate a client who was released from city jail without a plan and I wasn't aware of his release so now I am trying to figure that out so I'm gonna send this email now with Jermaine was and that's client last year when he came out of a longer stint in prison they were making some progress trying to treat his addiction and prescribing psych medication but as is often the case he got locked up again she was waiting for information about his court dates and release and then she Why Can't We Breathe Underwater?
"Can't we breathe underwater I haven't met everybody but everyone that I have met has not been able to breathe underwater, except for Aquaman of course, and it's a good question when you think about it. Because water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen right well, it goes in the chemicals. There's one thing we need to remember. Though about those chemicals, it's that once they react. In certain ways, they form compounds that are often nothing like their original elements think of to solo artists from different bands, and they get together, and they make an album that sounds. Sounds nothing like the original music for example. If you react carbon, hydrogen and oxygen together one way you get glucose, but if you react them together another way you get vinegar, and if you react to them yet another way you get fat, and if you react them yet, another way you get ethanol and glucose, fat, ethanol and vinegar are nothing like each other, but they're all made from the same elements in the case of hydrogen and Oxygen Gas. You react them together. One way you get liquid water and the reason we can't breathe. Liquid water is because the oxygen used to make water is bound to two hydrogen. and. We can't breathe that resulting liquid. The oxygen that fish breathe is not the oxygen that's in H.. Two O. Instead, the fish are breathing oa-to oxygen gas and nats dissolved in that water. Many different gases dissolve in liquids, and we can see an example of this all the time with carbonated beverages in knees beverages. There's so much carbon dioxide gas dissolved in the water that it rushes out in the. The form of bubbles fish breathe that dissolved oxygen out of the water, using their gills, and it turns out that extracting the oxygen. Isn't that easy? Air Has something like twenty times more oxygen in it than the same volume of water, plus let's remember that water is a lot heavier and thicker than air, so it takes a lot more work to move it around the main reason that Gilles work. Work for fish is the fact that fish are cold blooded. This reduces their oxygen demands tremendously warm, blooded animals like Wales breathe air like people do because it would be hard to extract oxygen using kills human beings can't breathe underwater because our lungs don't have enough surface area to absorb enough oxygen from water in the lining of our lungs is adapted to handle air instead of water. However, there have. have been experiments with humans breathing other liquids like fluorocarbons, fluorocarbons can dissolve enough oxygen, and our lungs can draw that oxygen out. It's just that first breath where you suck in the fluorocarbons and the enter your lungs. That is not very pleasant, but it is possible and look. Please nobody out there. Try to breathe underwater, because unless you're an extraordinary person or maybe a mutant. You're probably going to drown.

The Stock Market Is Not the Economy
"Sarah Ponsak wrote in Bloomberg. The market isn't the economy though it's at least a reflection of it and a bet on what will thrive in the future unsurprisingly amid a crisis bent on keeping everyone at home bets are coalescing around companies that ease the burden of being locked indoors she quoted Jack Genocea with a portfolio strategist at Nat Texas investment managers. They oversee a trillion dollars in assets. He said the I opener when you look at the ones you're worried about. He's talking about stocks within the five hundred airlines leisure companies. It's not a big chunk of the S. and P. Five hundred it's the old adage where the market isn't the economy that really hits an important piece here a lot of the stuff we're worried about. It's just not a big chunk of the S&P five hundred so maybe we should've react by selling off thirty five percent. Finally Matt Phillips in New York Times wrote a piece titled Repeat After me the markets are not the economy he wrote. The stock market looks increasingly divorced from economic reality. The United States is on the brink of the worst economic collapse since the Hoover Administration. Corporate profits have crumbled more than a million. Americans have contacted the krona virus and hundreds are dying each day. There is no turnaround site yet. Stocks keep climbing even as twenty point. Five million people lost their jobs in April the S. and P. Five hundred stock index logged. It's best month in thirty three years. The top five companies in the S P five hundred employees about one point two million workers worldwide the. Us has a hundred and thirty-three million employed workers last month it was one hundred and fifty six million over twenty million jobs. Lost those five companies. Thoughts on Dealing With COVID-19 from Doug Petrick Upper St Clair HS track & XC coach
"Welcome back to another episode of the moving to live podcast and also the fit lad. Pge podcast listeners. Know if you've listened to us before sometimes we cross pollinate or interview. Somebody who makes a great guests for both fit lab? Pga In moving to live. Both of our podcasts. Have Ethos movement is a lifestyle not just an activity fill out. Pittsburgh tries to highlight people who do great movement things in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area moving to live tries to break down knowledge silos. And I think today's guest is well suited for both podcasts. Were in the middle of starting week. Five about halfway through week. Five of the Pittsburgh area. Essentially being in social distancing schools are not in session other than virtually and people across the world probably are very aware. It's very similar in various places. Today's guest is Doug Patrick. He is a cross country track and field coach. Upper Saint Clair high school which is a suburb of Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania is also a physics professor. I think from what I've seen is probably the person that I have seen. Who Uses twitter to the best effect of anybody else? As soon as we're done with this I need to find out more twitter. Twitter twitter tips from him. But I think if anybody can talk about the effect that it's had on a career on athletes these coaching and also he somebody who organizes a yearly cross country conference for high school coaches across Pennsylvania and in some cases in other states that he's been I won't say forced but he's had the opportunity over the past couple of weeks to realize this is not going to happen face to face. This is actually going to happen on zoom so doug thanks for taking time to talk to a fit lab. Pittsburgh in moving to live all. Thank some real excited. Kinda talk in connecting share a little bit about what we do like the first thing. That's very interesting to go over because I find it fascinating. I actually have a podcast that came out today where recording today with the physician who is in Italy who has been in quarantine for over four weeks. When did you first find out that your job is a physics teacher and as a cross country coach at Upper Saint Clair that you weren't going to be going into work early morning every day So I WANNA say probably March eleventh was when all this like hit in terms of at the high school and I know earlier that week At students asking. Hey what's going on or we heard. Were not going to be here next week. But I believe the date might the eleventh and our administration had hit said you know the following week we would not in school and I think at that point. It was just sort of a suspension through the middle of April So that being said you know. Uh Sports deathly weren't going to be happening During the suspension academics weren't GonNa be happening and like I wanna tip my hat to the administration at Upper Saint Clair School. Because they were very proactive about like thinking in having a plan in place in not rushing to hurry up and do something to fill time In I had a feeling that we weren't going to go back to distance learning illness after the last three weeks But until we got the official word It are like department meeting which was virtual that you know. We're not going back into the building and you know the state for athletics and activities. Said we're we're down without as well. I don't Wanna Seattle's in disbelief but I just didn't process it. It didn't seem that real so until I think it was like last Thursday That's when we got the official word and you and I were chatting prior to starting recording. I think I mentioned to you that I I started to take it seriously. Maybe four or five days before that and March tenth or eleventh was what I shut everything down to. I'm fortunate in that my real job is I teach online for California University of Pennsylvania so my job per se hasn't changed that much but I'm curious prior to that March eleven. Say a week before that or two weeks before that where was the thought process or was there a thought process about Cova nineteen in the upper Saint Clair School district as far as you as a teacher also as a track coach where you're traveling all over western Pennsylvania. Yeah so I guess we go back to the end of February. We're still in our indoor track and field season. So we're actually Penn state. We had ugly. Three athletes go to the state in so it was the NFL. Or wasn't I don't want to say it wasn't hitting United States but it was something wasn't in the public train were in any of the media and it. Maybe I was naive but I didn't know how it would impact us or if it was going to impact us so I can only speak for myself just in terms of when it. I hate you know that week of the eleventh before the eleven at the beginning of March I would see things come up on on the news. You're in my twitter feed and really. I didn't know the magnitude of what it was in Seoul. The fallen wake you know we weren't school in All the information that kept coming for Nats I just I didn't have a lot of information about the beginning so I didn't anticipate the magnitude. It was GonNa have on everything in everyone's like how long after they March eleventh again just for people who are listening and I know it differs from state to state. Were you aware that the track season was not going to continue score to cease to exist from that point forward. Yes we two leaks in. That was in the sacking leak and the way and the WPA out kind of like two weeks mention of nothing ends. You know on the way home when I got home. Phone's blowing up and local coaches on texting on their taxi. May and I guess different districts were handling it differently summer just doing exactly what the POW said. Some were doing more than what they had said. by I don't WanNA say wasn disbelief but it's sort of as more time went on initially thought we would go back. Maybe we'll just have a district championship or they would modify St Ann's probably about a week and a half ago. I just thought my mocked. It seems like this is just not going to happen. part of that. Is You know a lot. The kids that we have the in college I mean their seasons were cancelled at the beginning of March in. I was thinking you know if college is GONNA CANCEL NOT SEASON. It would make sense to me that a high school. Oscar Cheese Whiz go on. I'm curious I know you have a number of athletes. Go on and run in college. What effect do you think that? This is going to have on high school seniors now as far as getting recruited or getting if they're good enough getting scholarship money to go to college is the fact that they are not going to be able to run their senior year. Run Times they're potentially or PR's right no. It's it's going to impact a lot of kids. I would almost even say kids. That are juniors in terms of if they're track athletes usually their junior year weather guy or girl those the Times that the colleges used the rhythm their junior in spring track. So yeah there are GonNa be at a disadvantage. I'm some seniors. We have that are. GonNa run in college. They were in the process of sort of on being proactive prior to that of visiting schools reaching out schools figuring out if know running is GonNa work in their future with academic so seniors are missing their senior season But I almost want to say maybe juniors. They're going to be track athletes. They're you know they're they will have no times at all. Naturally with colleges. College coaches look at in terms of recruiting.

What's in the book I get six hundred dollars per year ongoing from that so A Kindle E book with a cloaked affiliate length. Now it has to be cloaked because kindle. Crackdown a few years ago. And and everybody was putting all kinds of garbage and books but if you click your affiliate link that means it just looks like a normal linked to your website. But it's looping through your affiliate link going to the affiliate an every time somebody buys something you get paid and if it's residual you heard how are we both make money that way an example of fire nation. Would it be like I recommend people visit? You'll fire dot com slash click. Now that will forward to my click funnels affiliate links. So it's not this obnoxiously. Long even get accepted and kindle If it if it looks weird like that right so you've got to have it closed in that manner so what's number two. Tom Number two would be There's plenty of places like teachable. And think if and you to me where you can create an online course once and they have enormous amounts of searchable traffic so I mean you could literally just let it go. Of course I always want you to promote your stuff but you could just make a course put it up on one of these sites. They ran all the technology. You don't have to think you don't have to program nothing it's all done for you. And of course they take a commission. But you're sitting there collecting money from working once and get paid paid pay. That's what I like number three number three. This is one if you really like to write because you gotTa do a lot of writing to get this started but Dan. It can go crazy on you. And that is hub pages examiner and another one's called Info Barra where they There used to be one longtime ago. Thanks Seth Godin had a squad do thing But this is where you put up content and then the more people read it. You keep getting paid over time and a lot of people fizzle out. Because they're too lazy to write a lot of stuff but it's you know. Some people are making five six figures a month Just from stuff that they've written and it just comes in automatically you. Don't lift a finger. You don't have to talk to anybody. It's perfect if you don't like people nats on let's be honest. You're not the kind of person that doesn't like people so I'm not sure you black people out there that you know one of the first guys. I can't think of his name right now. He wouldn't talk to anybody. He was the most brilliant marketer ever. Never Talk to anybody. But there's plenty of things like that if you're if you don't like the cell if you WANNA be mobile with this working at starbucks and and and travelling this There's all kinds of opportunities here for people. I love that
The Aesthetic Moment
"In the nineteen eighties. I took a workshop from David Bales. Who along with Ted Orland is one of the authors of that really terrific called art and fear? We had a long weekend to work with. David doesn't ever so who were attending the workshop and he began the workshop with something. I've never forgotten. He asked us why we make art. And we went around the table and offered are somewhat stumbling excuses about what motivated us to WanNa make art. He then proposed that all of us were essentially the weird ones in society. He put it this way not not to insult but just to be more clear and more precise he said. Do you realize how many people there are in the world who have a camera who have no compulsion whatsoever to create artwork and so the obvious question is what makes us different. What makes us want to become artists with the camera? And since we're a relatively small group of people compared to all those who own cameras doesn't make sense that we're kind of the odd ones. Everybody else is normal. But we're the ones who feel compelled and he proposed that we needed to think carefully about why we wanted to make artwork. He didn't answer that question. He left it for each of us to stew on it and to come up with their own answers. And it's taken me many many years but I think I have a better understanding now of why it is that I wanna make art. Let me ask it in a slightly different way. What is it that we seek in the process of being an artist? Well some people seek fame or money or accolades. But I suspect that most of you listening to my podcasts are not interested in fame money or accolades unless they fell in your lap. I mean we'RE NOT GONNA TURN IT DOWN. But that's not the reason we pursue our art because if it was we'd probably be doing different kinds of things photographic -ly than we do so for most of us were seeking something else. What is it that we seek from our creative life? I'M GONNA go out on a little bit of a limb here and explain what I think. The answer is for me. It may or may not be an answer for you but nonetheless here it is for me in a nutshell. What I'm trying to accomplish with my art life is to have a certain kind of experience. I kind of got onto this idea with cardiac Brussels. The decisive moment in his thoughts about photography. I have different term. I call it the aesthetic moment. That's really why I'm photographic artist. I seek the aesthetic moment and I suppose in order to make that clear. I kind of need to explain what I mean by the aesthetic moment. The best example I can think of that isn't about photography is probably Haiku. So let me begin by talking a little bit about Haiku with a couple of examples. The great translator of Japanese Haiku of course is our H. Blythe. He did a wonderful series of books. There's a four volume set called Haiku. Each book is a different season and he also did a two volume set called the history of Haiku. I have loved these books now for forty years and I go back to them from time to time and RH Blythe says quote. The nature of Haiku cannot be rightly understood until it's realized that they imply a revolution in our everyday life in ways of thinking. Close quote that is to say the aesthetic moment. The aesthetic moment is the moment when we have a shift of consciousness. I I tend to think of it this way. It's a sudden and off an unexpected shift in awareness when the everyday act of seeing becomes a fleeting but meaningful glimpse at some sort of deeper understanding. That's a very coarse way of trying to explain an if you've had the experience you probably know what I'm getting at if you haven't had it maybe a couple of Haiku will help so here's a good example of the shift of consciousness in talking about in this Haiku a brushwood gate and for a lock It's nothing more than a moment of recognition. When all of a sudden something is seen little differently is seen unexpectedly when in this case the snail is not normally the lock. But we kind of see it that way because we're not gonNA go through the brushwood gate because we don't want to disturb the snail and so the snail becomes the lock. Here's another one in the old will. A fish leaps up at a net. The sound of the water is dark. That Haiku brings forth in me that aesthetic moment. I'm not thinking about the water. I'm not thinking about The dark but somehow the fish leaping brings us the darkness of the water to my attention and I have a moment when I'm sort of separated from normal consciousness and I have an aesthetic feeling for what is happening that I would not have had. If in this case the fish had not leapt up at nat so that experience sparked something in the person who wrote this Haiku. I think it was ISA but I'm not exactly sure. Remember that right. But it sparked an aesthetic moment and became the genesis of the Haiku. Here's another one. The Autumn Wind is blowing. We are alive and CONC- each other you and I I have this idea here of two people who've maybe spent the day together maybe they've been photographing together. And all of a sudden the autumn wind blows. And you realize the person that you're with is there. In the moment they become even more alive and even more real than they have prior to that that somehow there was that shift of consciousness that happened when the wind was blowing and the connection was made one last one the bright autumn moon on the Tatami Mat the shadow of the pine tree here again I visualized sitting in some old Japanese hut somewhere. And here's the bright autumn moon and with no other lights around all of a sudden because of this bright moon I see the shadow of the pine tree on the floor. And there's a connection now suddenly between the moon the pine tree the light and me and it's more alive than it would be if I wasn't paying attention so once again that sudden and often unexpected shift in awareness when the everyday act of seeing becomes a fleeting but meaningful glimpse of understanding of connectedness of really becoming aware in the moment. Lots of other photographers of talked about this. And it often comes up with a phrase. I've never quite sure I understand. And that is the Japanese term. Wabi Sabi I I don't I. I can't speak to that because I'm not really sure I understand what that really means but I do know the moment when looking at something ordinary I experienced that. Flip of wariness. Now I I'm not very verbal and I'm not a poet so I I don't do Haiku so for me. The attempt to express that aesthetic moment takes on the form of visual art hands on photographer. But one thing I do know is you can have that breakthrough to the aesthetic moment in all kinds of possible things in photography it can happen in the field
Medtech Talk Welcomes its New Host
"I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce the new med tech talk host as well as give him an opportunity to share more about his story. I'd like to welcome Jeff Pardo partner at Gilda healthcare. Hi Jeff. Welcome to the MED tech. Talk podcast thanks worry. I'm not sure. I'm totally deserving of that introduction does very nice and I'm really excited to be hosting the show Awesome Jeff. Can you share a little bit about yourself your background and just also how you got into this industry absolutely? You know it's interesting I. It was not a straight LINE GETTING INTO MED tech at Brown University. Where I went I was a history. Major actually. Didn't take a single science class. I took some economics classes but they were a really boring and I really didn't have any interest in it and But I also recognize. That really didn't want to be a history professor and I didn't know exactly where history would take me so I started exploring after graduation. How to get into business in my first job was actually doing oil and gas consulting of all things and other areas. That hadn't really no idea was doing but I actually was born. In Latin America was put on teams that ended up working in Latin American oil and gas and had a terrific experience and that was my entry into business but then my initiation into midtech really began with sympathies and that turned out to be pivotal to my career development. Why is that well? It's funny Cynthia's was at the time. People probably know now that Cynthia was bought by Johnson and Johnson huge acquisition. Like twenty billion dollars. But at the time Cynthia's while it was reasonably large it was still run like a smaller company founder That owned a majority of the company was really able to shape the culture in the way that he wanted to shape it and part of that was in really tight relationships with clinicians In particular he really mandated that everybody spend a lot of time in the operating room working side by side with clinicians. That's actually not so easy anymore to do in the current You kind of regulatory environment. But at the time we were in the operating room all the time and and it may be realized that I wanted to contribute to innovation on a larger platform in effect companies. In many different medical specialties. So is that how you got into? Venture capitalists yeah exactly so I went to Ward and after Wharton I had a chance to work with cardinal partners. A general healthcare venture firm in Princeton New Jersey and then ultimately went to spray venture partners back in my hometown of Boston and Really was lucky in both cases to learn from some amazing mentors and entrepreneurs in their own right brandon hall. John Clark Dan Cole. Kevin Connors all. These people had a tremendous impact on me and it was really an apprenticeship for a business that you can't teach in a classroom. How South at spray was some of the most. I think important experiences for me. In terms of how to get company STAR WE START ABOUT HALF. The companies in our portfolio with the entrepreneurs filed patents in many cases for these companies but one of the more interesting experiences with solutions which we had invested in the CEO. Step down unexpectedly in two thousand seven and actually. I remember Juliet a backer. Who's now longitude? But at the time was with the peak. What approach me and said she was on the board and she said. Do you want to run this company and I was just you know pretty young guy but I said yes and that's an important lesson for me as I got through microbes. Even when you're not sure sometimes just say yes. That thing's usually important learning experiences. Come out of it and that was an amazing experience because we took a product that was still in a prototype stage yet in the clinic in the early clinical trials. We will find it into a very slick procedure. And we brought it into a full-scale pivotal trial and the device itself was working really well But we also endured a lot of funding challenges. Two Thousand Eight to two thousand eleven is listeners to this podcast probably remember was a very difficult time in medical devices in in particular for spying. Pma's and unfortunately we weren't able to complete the project ended up selling Globus in two thousand eleven and it was not a financial success but so many lessons came out of it for me. I'm sure so. What did you do after that I went? I went back to spray for about six months but during that time also was introduced to the folks from Gilda healthcare and I never met anybody from Gilda but got to know them and really appreciated their strategy of jumping into us. Med Tech at a time that a lot of investors had rotated out of the segment. Why is that well in two thousand eight? There was a financial crisis so that was a time. When you saw pullback from a lot of things but also at the time there was a lot of issues with a regulatory frameworks in Med tech. It was pretty onerous or difficult relationship with FDA issues were reimbursement. Were starting to crop up and a lot of Investors were simply hadn't really had the depth of background in Med tech and didn't know how to navigate some of those challenges so they ended up rotating out and guilt a really brought a fresh perspective in they saw the great products had been developed and the ones that were surviving really were worth investing in and so the last nineteen years For me personally has been an amazing journey through all of that you know. Through the ups and downs of medical devices and through seeing now public market emerged for venture back a device companies which really enables some of these companies to stand on their own two feet rather than than sal out to a bigger company in there's also whirlwind of challenges and opportunities the regulatory and reimbursement landscape shifts. Yeah then you're kidding when you said it's not US straight line. That is quite. The journey enjoyed every moment of it. I mean not that there haven't been really difficult times with various companies but really enjoyed every moment. It's incredibly challenging business. But the really what makes the difference or the people in our business and how dynamic people throughout this business are not only the entrepreneurs and investors but the clinicians also that are really on the frontlines implementing what the engineers are companies Do so it's really cool to be around. Inspiring people on a daily basis and that is a great perspective to bring to the MED tech. Talk podcast yeah when I was approached to do this You know it's exciting to think about what you might like to bring out in a podcast like this and for me really is kind of what I been referencing in terms of individuals their stories and my own story knowing that it wasn't a straight line to get here the chance to interview people and hear about their stories the experiences that shaped them as they were growing up as they were getting into med tech And really understand you know what makes them tick the things that they've learned that have made them successful and the really tough experiences. One thing I'd like to do is highlight failures in our business and the ability to come back from failure the ability to turn around situations. That's something that's not celebrated enough in our business. I don't think people sometimes hide from the more difficult experiences or doesn't go on their resume necessarily and I'd like to start to you. Know I have a small role in changing nat in bringing a spotlight to more difficult things because we learn so much from those experiences. So you'll hear me some of the guests that will bring on. The show is really understand. Kind of what? We're situations that they failed in and what came out of that in the hopes that you know people listening to To the show will really be able to grab onto something and maybe it helps them in in the situation that they're in and then we'll also tackle some of the big challenges in the business whether it's reimbursement regulatory commercialization what it means to take a company public but it will really focus on some of the guests that we have lined up

We got a lot of good ones up here for some of your favorite stars all right by your work going on how you doing. Oh you know just the same thing gram over here like everybody you know I. I saw some of the stuff. We're on your tour bus. Are you out there for a reason? So you don't get your wife or kids sick or what's the story behind that because we went out we were at that festival in Europe One of the shows was in Berlin right when the big outbreak head over there and so like when I got home you know. We came home early because it the travel ban hit halfway into our trip. But I just I had been to like Amsterdam Berlin Stockholm and Oslo. And I've been like six planes and I was just like you know if this can take fourteen minutes for fourteen days for sympathy show. I feel fine now. But what if I start having symptoms and I've already holding my baby and sleeping in bed with my wife and I just didn't want to take the risk of you can fake it sometimes. Hey what was that? Like when you're in Europe and you know in the early part of Corona and we're kind of figuring out that it's a pretty real thing and you know some of our institutions are going to be moved because of it in your out of the country. What happens to you I over there? It was pretty scary. The second show was Was Berlin and the afternoon of the show like three o'clock. There government came out and said like no gatherings of I think it was five hundred at the time or bigger and I don't know how because that was at three o'clock still played the show I headlined was like four thousand people so I don't really i. That was kind of scary because they're saying it's not safe to have that big approve and we're just playing our show anyway But I think you know as it went on. That was the beginning of of other government. Starting you put that restriction on on public gatherings and stuff and by the time we were in Oslo We had one club show left before we were GonNa go to the UK and play the other big three arena shows and like an hour before the show. Their government came out and said Like fifty people or less than we're going to this is this is like we're being irresponsible by staying over here so we actually booked our flights home like two hours before trump came out with the travel ban so it was It was I I mean. I don't think it's I think people over here think that it's a little bit crazier over in Europe. It felt kind of the same everybody anxiety. is kind of palpable. Just like it is here right now. but it was just weird to not be home and know that you were running the risk of maybe getting stuck over there. Did you ask how much flights costs to get back or did you just go? GimMe all I know how much they cost it was. It was definitely a low blow. Yeah you don't WanNA share I mean I know honestly I don't want to be It's it's pay. I will say this because we booked ours two hours before the travel ban. Yeah we got them before. They went up to like an unreasonable number. And I know some people that waited I know ours. Ours doubled from when we bought him to two hours later. And who makes that call in your group? Was it you going. Hey we got to go It wasn't we had our finger on that button the whole time and it was The the club shows I was playing in Stockholm and Oslo. Were just Me and my music records are just two guitars. Little 'cause Dick Loves and So my manager was actually on that run they were just for us and it was kind of me and my manager like watching the news on the regular but we both looked at each other when the when the Oslo at the venue in the show got cancelled and we went. We gotta go. It was like we like you know you make eye contact with somebody and you know you're on the same page. Yeah it was one of those deals. So yeah I mean he wouldn't. He wouldn't have pulled that trigger without me But it was something that we knew was a possibility the whole time so you get off the plane and since you knew all this happening you didn't hug your wife or kiss your baby or anything like that. No so all I did. Was I went home? I left all my luggage. My backpack my suitcase. everything in the garage because it can live on surfaces for three days. I undressed in the garage Showered through my towel straight into the laundry through stuff in a bag and drove to the bus. What are you doing for food? Not You don't have like maybe cheerios from bus stock. But how you eating We had some stuff I had probably two days worth of food But then I've been doing in Takhar like grocery orders and just having them leave it outside the bus and then wiping down every item with wipes one at a time before I put it. Bring it into the bus. I'm assuming you feel alright healthy right just almost you almost done with this right great. Yeah I feel I don't have any symptoms and You know when I decided to do this. They were still saying it. Takes five days to show symptoms and then on Day Two? They changed it to fourteen and I was like. Oh I thought joke on me. Are you doing any solo writing while you're on the bus? I've kind of mess with it a little bit. But I'm you know with everything that's going on in like there's a ton of business decisions to be made right now as shows are getting postponed and moved in all of that that I kind of. It's been hard to put on the creative hat. I definitely have a guitar in here that I've been like fooling around with and it usually ends up just not going anywhere because I got too many other things on my mind so Once I get home and I've got WIFI situation. Start doing like virtual rights and stuff. But I just haven't really been I haven't really had the but To be creative if you don't have wi fi or a strong signal. Are you able to watch Netflix? Yeah so luckily The streaming things not happening but Direct TV has all the movie channels. Alkyl so I've I've seen every movie in the world now. Well what's good? What did you watch it was gay? 'cause I'm struggling now a little bit except for Tiger King on Fox. I'm just searching around. Yeah I've I've I've so once I get home tiger kings. My wife started. He started. And she's sticking You Know I. I don't know if you follow my sows. But one day I literally watched all of the Rockies. In in one day that was great What's the best one because I have my feelings Best Rocky best one. We'll both pick one. Which which is the best rocky it hort say but I think Rav four with the Russian of me

run to the plate in the eighth inning and who knows what might have happened it it it sure it bothers me and it feels like there have been four or five six you know fairly agree GIS MRS each and every game I I'm still not yet on board with with you know the trying to compile a robot umpire or anything like that you saw the video I'm sure of the All Star game where they were the player was kicked out for doing I we wasn't arguing he was just upset the the human empire kicked him out because he was unhappy that the robot empire punched him out curb all that looked like it was low but obviously according to the road but I'm part of the plate also there's a delay like there's just like that you know quarter second maybe half second delay when the robot umpires in place before you see the strike call all I'm not quite ready to go there yet I think more testing needs to be done more improvement needs to be done but that having been said there there has been some inconsistent agency there have been some Mrs in the World Series and last night like the nationals were angry last night really really angry and and you can understand why and and no nobody can expect perfection but I think we have a right to expect a little bit better than we've seen in a couple of the games or the world series I was joking with Aj hinch today about how in the world series of managers are always considered to be geniuses or idiots in last night when he made the decision to put your Don Alvarez lineup and he was still uncertain about it when we met with him about five fifteen whether or not he was gonNA follow through and play Alvarez in the outfield but he makes the decision to put him in I gotTa tell you was crazy like you're putting a d. h. out in left field the one of the biggest games of the year and he cited the fact that gear Kohl's more of a strike out guy and maybe wouldn't be as much I'm a factor man that's why he's making the big dollars and I'm playing straddle Matic Baseball Dan that was a great decision exactly and listen he'll make and the member of the game before when we were or actually before yesterday's game before game five we were talking about game four and he really kind of jokingly made fun of himself for taking out or Keady and I can't use the exact word that he said but he was like eighty what are you doing yeah Blah Blah Blah and so aj firstly he doesn't miss anything as you know buster like he doesn't miss it trick and when we ask them a question and we're so lucky to have this kind of access before the world series well we asked him a question before the game he says okay here's what I'm thinking these are the three reasons doing this and it's great like he totally tells us what he's thinking he's never defensive as at all he's really smart and I think also though but he doesn't he doesn't it to us if you'll remember he said Yeah Garrett Cole strikes a lot of guys and they're mostly right handed batters and I don't think they'll be able to pull them but then he said at the end but also can you go up to nine say oh sorry I was Gonna play you but they switch pitchers and now I'm going to take you out and he didn't have the heart to do that to your Don Alvarez and that's not out of the analyst handbook that's out of the human handbook and you know what getting him some at bats in game five probably will make him a little bit better of a hitter in game six rather than sitting for so many days so so you know h as right you can be a genius one day and you can be bombed the next day in the court of public opinion but he's he's GonNa be viewed as a as a smart guy more often than not he knows what he's doing all right let's put a bow on the Astros PR disaster over the last week Stephanie Epstein reporter for sports illustrated on Sunday tweeted a letter from astros owner Jim Crane in the letter krantz saying that he is apologizing gap seen on behalf of the astronauts retracting that infamous Monday statement that denied her report on former assistant general manager Brandon Todman yelling at her and other female reporters in the letter wrote we were wrong and I am sorry that we initially question your professionalism we retract the statement and I assure you that the Houston Astros will learn from this experience Dan God I hope so this came too late but they did it and I'm glad that they moved it forward yes this was a step in the right direction it was way too late and after way too many missteps and you know it's Kinda like when your kids do something and like is apparent here saying to them okay but you're on only apologizing because you got caught like you should have apologized right away because you should have known this was wrong you're you're only doing this because you really have no no other choice right now and and that's what it feels like with the Astros had this been the first statement from Houston on day one then that would have been a positive thing I think there could have been a little more meat on the bone and even this one it was very short very to the point but I this was a positive move but I still feel feel like either internally or from Major League baseball like there needs to be a little more disciplined here this was this was a horrendous relation it it'll be taught in schools of like marketing and public relations like as how not to handle things going forward because you know they they met it's this left and right they really did and they heard a lot of people they try to discredited reporter and I hope they learn from this you know they've always interview does you know is a very analytical clinical kinda cold organization it's all about the facts it's all about winning bottom line it's all about winning but again you've gotta have apps some some humanity in there in AJ hinch some and hopefully the you know the front office in above has acquired some or at least a little perspective in the aftermath of this I'm really curious if on Tuesday or Wednesday for that matter that the Astros win the world series what the post game ceremony will be like well on Fox because you know a lot of this stuff the Major League Baseball Fox or a major league baseball on ESPN they'll have a conversation about that what that will look like on the victory stage I'm really curious about Jeff Llanos presence in that because in the past you'd always have the general manager talk but he's been an absolute disaster not only for the Astros in the last week but also for Major League Baseball with his big signature event his his actions have been terrible and he's been such a phenomenal the manager for the team they are where they are because decisions he made in building a baseball team but in the last week it's been such a mess I'm kind of curious to see if he's given microphone in that moment does that make sense I am as well and I wonder if those conversations have been had or will be had in the next twenty four hours internally or not I think one thing that makes it a little bit easier is in Houston so at least it's not like there would be thousands and thousands of people booing in yelling at the time the world series theis presented that's a disastrous pr disaster for them but you're right I wonder if rob Manfred and his people and Fox and they're people in the Astros if they've had that Congress station that's you know something that we may find out if they win the world series it feels like it would be unprecedented to me if they were to exclude a member of promise a member of the management or ownership team of the organization that wins the world series but These are complicated times we live in his you know and I I will see Houston travel safe travels to my friends I'm pretty sure I might be hunt what makes you say that the.

"Back in Bristol and Troy I'm not chilly at a baggage claim it is I take this and my hotel in Washington DC and I'll be making my way to Houston but I will be in a baggage claim later in the day at Hobby Airport in Houston so I think we can qualify Yes oh yeah of course and I know people love baggage claim Monday so I had to get the people what they want that's what we do here absolutely the World Series is headed back to Houston because of what the answer is accomplished in three days here in Washington Saturday Houston drew even in the World he's too all Jose Arcadi great job in his rookie five scoreless innings and he got the backing of Alex Bregman Houston's got the bases loaded with one Chops Chevron the oil one and a fly ball hits a deep left field this one is deep and it is gone that is a Grand Slam am for Alex Bregman and the Astros lead eight to one here in the seventh inning and showman on ESPN radio to the Astros won on Saturday evening the series to all turning into a essentially a best of three moving forward and we looked so much to the game five matchup between Max Scherzer and Garrett Cole but something happened we found out on Sunday afternoon match sherzer would not be able to start and he walks stiffly into the interview room at Nationals Park and talked about what he's feeling physically when I woke up this morning I was completely locked dub is not just a muscle spasm that you know when you're talking to doctors here the nerve that's in Vac it's all jammed up thankfully and from doctors says as long as I have motors no none this coming down my arms or anything you don't actually deal with any seriously any long term damage here it's just a you on the sensory pinching the nerve and neck in the trash a whole muscles that surround your neck just completely locked up in spasm and so for me it became impossible to do any menial tasks whatsoever eh he said that when he woke up on Sunday morning he couldn't even move his right arm is pitching arm you've got a cortisone shot on Sunday which is why there is hope in the nationals organization that he might be able to pitch in game seven if necessary he talked about game seven they think the cores shot in there neck take informed hours I can really helps aside independence being alleviated or alleviate the pain from that neck nerve my neck right now that's all pinched up so I mean I'm just hoping that the doctors are right and that something could be possible for game seven nationals manager Dave Martinez was asked about Sherzer perhaps pitching in game six or seven as of right now and I would leave Stephen starring a game six and and if need be if you know depending on where we're at if if Mexico come in out of relief he comes in if we if we go to game seven Max game seven so with all that is the backdrop Joe Ross stepped in to take Shire's place on the mound in game five Centerfield Day game today was gained five Joe Ross on the mound is Garrett Cole the nationals and when Joe Ross got through the first inning and it was a huge cheer in the Ballpark in Washington because they knew that he was stepping in and urgency basis He was the underdog going into this game in the second inning he faced your Don Alvarez who his starting this game was an uncertain even just three and a half hours before the game. Aj hinch was weighing the decision to start someone who had like sixty five innings in the outfield during the year well paid off here's the to one and a swing and a fly ball to deep left center off the end of the bad gone a line drive home run the Left Center for Alvarez and the move for the Astros pays off his very first at bat has he hits a line drive the left side Caro- two run homer in an early to nothing lead for Houston in Troy now you can expect absolutely respect the choices of the fan call that home run. I don't know if you're watching television but fans stood up as Alvarez is ball carried over the fence and he had a beverage in each hand I believe they were appears and he just stood up and he took the homerun off his belly dropped his pick that up and he saved the beer's what do you think wow that is meant that should be on ESPN's top place that's impressive it was impressive top of the fourth inning Joe Ross was still on the mound and this happened to me aching ball hit high in the Air D. to laugh field and it's gone about ten rose d. back into the seats Carlos Korea has double the Astros lead it is now Ford Dan Schulman with that call on ESPN radio joining us here in a bit Garrett Cole was on the on for Houston and he was outstanding caring shutout ball into the bottom of the seventh inning chew and a fastball hits deep left center field charisma going back Moore resnick John and it's gone hits out to left center field hinder first row of seats and the nationals or on the board it is four to one so for nationals fans in the ballpark there was hope especially after Ryan Zimmerman walked victor row bliss was at the plate and on that last pitch to Zimmerman his well Garrett Cole and his catcher marteen Maldonado they thought that it should have been a strike three they didn't get it this is what happened with robots with three balls and two strikes whole sets it goes Zimmerman three to strike free tall and now raw blaze can't believe it he thought it was high now Denardo and Cole coming off the the old the nationals dugout has exploded and Lance Barksdale the home plate umpire but the inning is over in really that was the end of hope for the nationals in this game the nationals dugout through that whole commercial break that followed they were screaming Atlanta Barksdale from their dugout in the top of the night denning George Springer provided the coup de Gras and the three one on the way fastball crank took deep left field and there is no doubt about this one George Springer with a two run shot to left and a little more insurance for the Astros now leading seven to one yeah and here was the last call one to swing a ground ball to third this should bregman up with it on the first and the Astros does win again they come to Washington down two games to none and they just mother the nationals three nights in a row and singular the whole one win away from the World Series Championship Dan without reference. Of course Chris Singleton is broadcast partner so right after that final hour spoke with Garrett Cole Guys Lose Games wanted to the world series you come to Washington you win all three Guanzhou score them nineteen to three senior team in these games yeah I mean I think we responded well we had a challenge that we needed to me and we did the world series about trying to collect four wins it doesn't matter how many games you lose unless you lose for you always got shot unless you've lost four and and so that's what we believe and we just try to keep the same process that we've been keeping all year you know just keep one foot in front of the next answer the bell did you feel about how you executed tonight I thought I executed really well tonight made a lot of good pitches I think we counted three mistakes and then get away with two of them and got away with one and then you know just live on the corners all night making a lot of quality pitches kept pressure on on my thought attention at seven o'clock this is one hundred miles per hour fulltime tencent I mean our bullpens been pretty lockdown wasn't going to give into Zimmerman wasn't going to get into robots there knowing that we had you know a little bit of a cushion and somebody fresh gonNA come in and pick this up because that's what postseason baseball is all about so focused on keep making quality PICCI's Khameini didn't get a call to Zimmerman three two and then got a call the next three to you guys are one win away from winning the world series but how considering how this series is gone how close is it will it it doesn't it doesn't go close I mean I think we played really good baseball the last few days and we're just going to keep our same process You know these these next two games are are going to be tough thanks thank you Carlos Correa talked about the Astros Getting Swagger riches it feels like a regular game these are serious serious of the season we need to play like it we need to to give everything we got and then in off this here's our we're going to be exhausted yeah we got three months to to rest and then show up against string training so let's get our swagger back let's play let's play with passion let's play like we wanted and the last three games we really play like we won the championship and we gotTa Win One more game in game six in Houston on Tuesday night it'll be justice Burland against Stephen Strasburg Astros Manager Aj hinch declared what he wants in game six we know how quickly things can turn where momentum can shift in he's especially in a series against a quality team like the nets so we're not gonNA take anything for granted it is nice to go home you know I don't really WanNa talk about a second game I'd like to wrap this up as soon as possible and and we've got Justin verlander on the mound and that brings a lot of confidence to our clubhouse but there guys pretty good too so we're going to have to bring our best after a long flight we have a day off tomorrow we'll be ready to play on Tuesday but our but our confidence levels were going home to play in front of the one of the best crowds and and in the playoffs and in the world series and and hopefully get one more win adamy nationals outfielder talked about the teams villain mentality when they hit the road we we definitely playing in front of home fans but I I don't know I think we played the villain pretty L. and swept them in a big series I think we kind of had a little chip on our shoulder Kinda gone in there and wanted to kind of prove something so you know hopefully again we're going back to their place where we've had some success hopefully we can kind of have that villain mentality kind of come together as a group on on the plane tomorrow and and we said we want to games in a row before the we're we're looking to do that again here's nationals manager Dave Martinez we had our backs against the wall all year long nobody thought we could we're going to be here we're here playing game six of the world series so we're GONNA fight we're GONNA finish this thing before we laid off Dan Schulman one of the best aspects of.

"They stop the run all right and make Minnesota by the way one dimensional and they put it on Kirk yeah I do like Kirk I'm rooting for Kirk had been rooting for kirk cousins I like Kirk cousins you know he's a quality guy which by the way is one of the reasons he isn't he or anymore because he had the choice they they essentially you know what I'm going to go back to that right now because I'm going to take this opportunity I didn't do it on the show today you know I've heard this narrative over the last couple of years that Kirk didn't want to be here so go to hell see a later and the people of just essentially told them to f. off and they don't care about him because he screwed the organization that is so off by Dell's alright that's not what happened here he was never actually given a reasonable chance to stay here contractually it listen close was so under the market it was thirty five to forty million dollars under his projected market value his event there's other N._F._L. I'm I'm more interested in the other games tonight it's a standalone and we'll see what happens I have a good day.

"They'll double your first deposit if you use my code mybookie Dot ag today you play you win you get paid all right let's bring in Chris Cooley toxin Redskins skins and vikings tomorrow night in Minnesota Minnesota's a sixteen point favorite tomorrow night they've won three in a row the redskins are one in six as we all know so I'll just start with the question that I think everybody is asking each other in redskin nation if you will and it's a question that we keep asking each other why not Dwayne Haskins now I'm asking that same question seven I don't know the exact answer my thought would be that if you come in as an interim head coach you want Improve Your team that you can win some games and that's also does also saying that you don't think he's ready an interim head coach or or is coaching staff and its entirety but take you through twelve passes last week in the rain I mean I don't know and I'm sure that game plan was that going in we all we all knew because they talked about ah the fact that he had a Wednesday practice that he did take reps in the week but you don't really interesting if they get to the bye week here and then don't play them I think that will be fascinating to to not play them after the bye week well he he is actually indicated I guess I forget who had this Aaron you can update everybody on who had this I don't WanNa Miss Represent anybody could have been he could of been standing I don't know who it was but that that really you know he's not even sure that he'll be ready after the bye week which would be a lead up to the jet game I mean like I mean I know we're having fun with this to a certain degree but it's also mystifying because if you keep coming up with excuses to why he can't play you know Minnesota's short week Buffalo's a ridiculously good defensive team the jets Greg Williams and win you know what Greg Williams will do to a rookie quarterback and then you know I mean where do you blame the lines are decent defendant a man to man defense plays just like the Patriots and they're gonNA show you multiple fronts and then we're going to go back through and recycle the eagles and the cowboys I mean maybe if it's in the giants game with the is going to be depleted lazier I suppose I do understand this let's not change the dynamic with go with the guy that we all believed in to start the season let's try to get our team's win as interim coach who's trying to get guys or Carter whatever you're trying to do so I I agree personally because the longevity like the macro is they probably need to understand what you have to ask him too soon as you possibly can I e on your team is still willing to work really hard even though you're wanting to yeah like you know you you said it and I was Gonna ask you anyway I mean the the bad weather in the game plan that they had I mean would he have really been at risk handing the ball off twenty six times and throwing it twelve especially some of those you know for those passes were just you know behind the line of scrimmage shovels like would he would his whole Psyche Bennett at Man acid risk if he had gone in there and operated the way case keenum operated right has bigger hand grip the ball better no he wouldn't have it wouldn't have been something going on on behind the scenes with when Wayne going to play and the timetable for her for wants him to play win and how and you know we'll find out I think yeah in my opinion it's time because I I don't want to buy week like let's say you go you and if you go no one in one over the next two which is is tough but you go one in one you're sitting there at two and seven new you've had a week off and the players it really a very very good moment to look at it and have some clarity and say look this is where I mean come on the NFL teams so so yeah but right now we're still not Mitzvah grind and it's the next week in a game and so I think it's a good time to to find out what you want in Haskins but maybe there's a longer plan that we'll find out about you've mentioned that a couple of times to follow up on that do you think found nothing about Okay Alaska it this way yeah yeah living put it this way Y- There's a plan we don't know do you think there's a possibility that he doesn't play it all this year in any way imagine that okay but you do think there's a possibility that we're still several weeks away from him playing I know you've made that clear if it were you you he'd be playing right now I understand that but you know what to do that second take third drastic or potentially that first traffic I wanNA know what I have in my guy and when how do I wanNA build around him and bill said he ran the ball Against San Francisco bill made it very clear that he wants to be run first team and so the theory is is that you're going to be a lot more rundowns you're gonna go with a lot more run action ask and so you're operating a lot in the style of the way dwayne would have the best success right his offense right now I mean it's not like it was a rain game so we ran the ball they're gonNA run the ball that spills them all so you know I think that when you're in a world where you're not going to drop back thirty five times a game then elite what are you what are you worried about but when we have our team we'll do it our way when we have our team hey maybe that'll happen on Wedneday so you've alluded to the macro the big picture and I I wanna go to the the you know the more immediate picture of what happened Sunday in what may happen tomorrow night before we get back to some of the bigger picture issues I actually thought and I said this you know you you know how people ear and they hear what they want to hear and they read what they wanna read on twitter but I basically said you know you can think as I do that the organization pictures a total mess and it's a disaster and there's not much hope moving forward but you can also say about Sunday they actually played pretty well for them you know not comparing to any good team in the NFL but for them it was a pretty decent overall effort and they had a legitimate dance to win the football game you know they're driving down third enough down three nothing late in the third quarter they're already in field goal range when when Persson fumbled but I actually thought it was one of their better overall games even though it was ugly to watch but did they had a legitimate chance to beat an undefeated team you can say both of those things what did what do you think about my feeling that it actually wasn't you know it was far from the worst game they played all year in May have been the best game they played all year I think the rain help them and really looked at the game and you said missed field goal of fourth and one that you didn't convert on and fumble all in forty niners territory and nine points out of those three drives it would have obviously giving you a chance to tie that game or put you in the lead and you know if you get a touchdown there you probably win that game and so I look at this and we've talked about this as a Ross that's bill to stop the run I because late in the season in the NFC you're gonNA play some games and people are going to have to run the ball and that's the way they designed this defense it's unfortunate that they gave up so much to the air for six weeks that they didn't necessarily compete enough but this is the strategy of this defense you bolster that front and you say look even running teams are going to average three point five yards a carry which is what San Francisco did so it gave you a bunch of opportunities offensively they just had to take advantage a little bit more I think they struggled and illicit a game that you had an opportunity to win but couldn't figure it out so I was impressed with the way the defense played for sure I was impressed with the effort across the board and I just looked at it and I look they just gotTa find a way to operate better on offense yeah you know there was the discussion about you know how many passes they threw in we've always heard in the past you know a wet field is advantage you know offense because the defensive players I don't know what what the offense is going to do and they don't have good footing I actually was had sort of a contrarian view to that on Monday and I want your thoughts I I would have much preferred more shots more early down you know play action shots from keenum in from Kevin O'CONNELL but I thought donal actually felt the game you know in a way in which it's like this is going to be a low possession game which was the redskins only had seven possessions in the game it's going to be a low scoring game mistakes are going to be magnified they're really good defensively and fast and if we drop them back too much that's GonNa lead to a big mistake that will make the final score twenty three to nothing instead of you know maybe six to nothing with a chance on the final drive and I actually thought O'CONNELL again I would have preferred more shots you know in more opportunities to throw the ball but not a lot more I actually thought he felt the game pretty well do you did do you agree or disagree I am split on the so I think that first and ten was a situation where they could have been much better and have to be the the last in the League and yards per play on first down and that is a big down play it's seventeen I and tens if you include one I and five which is to me trooper Alex situation they had fourteen runs three passes to the past this came in two minute drills at the end of the half and at the end of the game in one pass game at the set in the second last drive down six zero fourteen runs yet to fifteen yard carries which were good place for them but essentially other than that you didn't get anything they got into the second half the ball game it was all do or die or whatever you WANNA call it and they were getting like one yard carry so I I think that those first down situations the Cisco absolutely dared them to throw the ball they played eight guys in the box and even if it was a package your eleven personnel you're not going to sell it and we didn't throw it and it's not that it just has to be PLA- play action shot I mean he goes through the much better Kevin got him into some good plays third down situations then other than a couple down calls you know and it's it's tough there I thought he was fine it's worth zero points I understand that he yourself but what you're saying he didn't give you gotTa talk into the phone we're losing and by the way I think you know this and I'm assuming that you guys talked about this dino at the niner defense pass defenses allowed in their last three James now the niner defense is amazing almost every category so you have you ever heard in this era I haven't seen this stat put out there they held Baker.

"Something on the not playing haskins thing are you going to tell me that haskins couldn't have done what keenum could've done yesterday are you gonna tell me that haskins aaron couldn't do what duck hodges doing berg do you know who duck koch is people he's the third string quarterback in pittsburgh who was an undrafted quarterback out of samford university not stanford not stanford sam furred devlin hodges look them up fifteen twenty one hundred and thirty two yards in los angeles last night they ran the ball well which is what the redskins did against the dolphins and he now as a starter is one oh as an undrafted third string rookie quarterback he's playing you could tell me haskins can't play we're getting week by week we're getting very close to the point and by the way old man callahan already said case keenum's going to start against the forty niners of course he is because they don't there season's over they think they're going to get back into this thing we're going to here in a couple of weeks get to the point where we will all know definitively that if he's not in there as a quarterback they overdrafted him period end of discussion by the way overdrafted and a lot because other quarterbacks are getting opportunities that weren't drafted now some of them because of injury like hodges like minhsiu okay allan allan with with cam newton which that whole situation is weird right now i don't know that if cam newton wants to play that they'd even given me starting job back i'd say right now kyle allen's the better quarterback from what we've seen for the past two years from cam newton and you can say injuries or whatever i don't know if there's a such thing is a kim a healthy cam newton anymore i don't know that kyle isn't better now allen was good yesterday he had a bunch of picks last week yes their defense is what's really leading them right now and mccaffrey the kyle allen is running their offense i'm sure the way north turner really wants to run the offense they the panthers played the same bucks a few weeks ago and the offense is look drastically different anyway case keenum is in very good haskins be playing my god yesterday was the perfect opportunity to play against that team although they did defensively throw a lot of those what they call amoeba looks like they're jumping around at the line of scrimmage pre snap at some of the similar stuff that floors obviously learned from belichick but anyway on the list of things i didn't like the penalties you know all the wind sprints and the turning the music off was supposed to lead to more accountability and discipline and they had five first-half penalty is a killed a bunch of them on special teams and then there was this on the list of things i didn't like bill callahan he doesn't know anything about managing clock that's for sure he didn't learn he he learned or or he chose not to learn from jay gruden not knowing how to do this and figuring it out on his own would they did at the end of the first half was embarrassing embarrassing and owen five team against the dolphins at approaching midfield to let the clock run out into go to halftime with a timeout in your pocket that's an embarrassment and i can't i always have a hard time figuring out was that really what he wanted to do or is he just totally clueless on how to manage the clock i bet it's the the ladder he said afterwards we wanted to play it conservative conservatively except for the fact that they were throwing the ball there at the end just to be clear here the redskins had a seven nothing lead when miami trotted uh-huh miami was stopped on third down near the end of the first half and the redskins had a timeout left and they chose not to take it and that would have been with about a minute ah forty seven left and instead the field goal went through with a minute seven left so basically they burned thirty eight to forty seconds roughly i think it was thirty eight i think the he was a minute forty five when the play before ended i can't remember exactly but bottom line is he should've taken the time out of defence after they stopped miami on third and eleven the redskin twenty seven yard line and it was four thousand six because he knew miami was gonna kick a field goal and it would have given the offense a minute forty after the kickoff detroit try to get more points before the end of the half but he didn't do that he let the clock run the kicked the field goal there was a minute seven left at the end of the field goal they started at their own twenty five with a timeout left in a minute seven still plenty of time they gave the ball to thompson for no gain and then miami called a timeout okay miami decides we want to get the ball back which is theranos and four team they're trying to play aggressively and argh guy old old man bill he's over there as a doddering around like i we're going to play conservatively he said in the post game no that's not what really happened what really happens you didn't know how to take a timeout to give your chants give your team a chance to score aaronow ask you this question before and i've asked greg this question many times if you're trying to score at the end of the half or the end of the game is it better to have more time or less time i believe it's for time i think it is too good answer building and understand that and then he throws a pass to peterson peterson gets knocked out out of bounds all right and he's already let the clock after the keenum scramble get down to twenty one others fourteen seconds left from their own thirty nine and he throws a pass your at the thirty nine yard line it's two completions for field goal range one completion maybe and on the next away from the from their own thirty nine with time out left in ten seconds he runs chris thompson for four yards and let the clock run out you talk about louis servile that is just absolutely something that cannot be explained here's the one explanation here's the one he saw ryan fitzpatrick over there warming up on the sideline and he didn't wanna give ryan fitzpatrick a chance with the ball at the end of the first at first because he knew that he patrick would light up the defense that's obviously not the answer i'm just coming up with something that he could have said but no he said we played it conservatively seven to three they go to the half and by the way miami got the ball first to start the second half that's loser football people loser situational football that's how you get your ass beat in a game that matters if they ever have one you know a few years down the road what else didn't i like i thought his decision to kick the fifty five yard field goal was stupid i mean he's planet conservatively at the end of the half and then up fourteen with miami having no chance to do anything offensively he gives them a spark by trotting hopkins out there to kick a fifty five yarder and give him field position with that brian four said hey fitzpatrick get into the game and then we had a ball game touchdown seventeen ten and then touchdown the end before the two point conversion a couple of other things real quickly from the game it's part of the game take i guess how about this assigned flying over the stadium before the game help skins fans fire bruce allin i wonder if he saw that i wonder if he'd definite we saw it at some point if you didn't see it live you saw the pictures he had to it was everywhere probably and then did you notice watching the game montana's sweat has an old spice commercial hey miss that one good for him yeah no more sweat with old spice sporadically yeah by the way one other thing from over the weekend jordan replaced on injured reserve if you miss that it is it's sad actually and i just wish the best for him he's destined now to be remembered by redskin fans as an extraordinary talent that sort of went unrealized for the most part and he had terrific moments in two thousand fifteen and twenty sixteen but the injuries just shorten what should have been a prolific career he really was an uncheckable pass catching tight end and in those years i hope he's okay i really really do all right snyder is going to go after mike tomlin when this season is over that he's got a really good relationship with tomlin a dino tomlin mike tomlin son is at maryland as a football a player he's a freshman at maryland has one catch on the year i actually believe that i saw him at the maryland penn state game from a long distance at least from maryland i probably was right he probably was at that game so anyway lockenfora had the report on during the pre game yesterday that the redskins were gonna make a big run for mike tomlin by the way terry bradshaw said the josh mcdaniels is going to be the target for the redskins this happens right when you're the first team to fire a coach mid-season a lot of the next several weeks the pre-game topics are who are the redskins thinking about then it's also the redskins they seem to get a lot of attention for being horrible and dysfunctional etc people love to bash him we we we've obviously taken that route here in recent years based on what we've witnessed per finally on a day to day basis here and they you know they jump on it from a national standpoint as well but jason lockenfora good relationship with tomlin and that he's going to target mike tomlin to be the head coach next year got a lot of attention pre game yesterday it can run the ball and they're really good defensively this year they should have beaten the ravens last they should be three in three and sitting there tied for first i bet you he thinks they've got they got the chance to make a run here with a really really good defense this year why not they played the dolphins next they have they have a bye week and then they get the dolphins to get two three and four they actually have three home games in a row pittsburgh does the dolphins the colts and the rams who are struggling all winnable all winnable at home threat they are all winnable and home so that was that report and then adam schefter quickly responded and let me just for context purposes you know texted each other a lot off the air he was a weekly recurring guest for seven years on the show with tommy and me and so plus a a really good fraternity fraternity brother friend of his is a really good friend of mine who lives here in DC i like adam i know a lot of a lot of you recent years has been spot on right for the most part recently when lockenfora came out remember aaron during training camp with its imminent that trend's going to be rated lockenfora immediately shot it down with he's not gonna be traded the redskins are not gonna trade him so right after the lockenfora report about tomlin i'm here was schefter coming out literally within an hour after the lockenfora report with.

"Mm-hmm we sold our house way back when she sold my baseball card collection didn't know it so my base and there were a cards in there that would probably dr for his team he could have done both and he chose not to but you know what do little got a four out safe good for him and it didn't hurt the net game take here in a moment from yesterday's redskins game right after i tell you you about my bookie dot AG mybookie dot AG is a reliable gambling website if you've been looking for a place ager guys mybookie dot AG is a great option it's just as important who your betting with who you're betting on you want to be sure that you're getting asked payouts you wanna make sure you're getting good lines you wanna make sure that you have the opportunity to bet on the games you wanna bet with bet on and any way you wanna bet straight bets teasers laze in game action et cetera and you can do all of that through my bookie dot AG here's the opportunity if you use my promo code right now kevin dc he's my promo code when you go to mybookie dot AG kevin DC it will activate the following offer my bookie will double your first deposit has it so if you deposit three hundred bucks you're going to have six hundred bucks to play with now you can't go there and pull it right out all right there's something called a playthrough a right you've got to play for a certain period of time at a certain level before you can actually take your money out if you're going to use that offer right but i would advocate using my offer kevin DC double your first deposit and then you've got the rest of the season tibet games until either run out of that money or you get to the point where you can pull it out times tent right hopefully that that happens my book dot AG you play you win you get paid all right let's get to the game take agenda as we get back to redskins dolphins seventeen sixteen there were as i like i guess i mean you sort of have to preface this with they were playing the dolphins but i do like adrian peterson a lot i really do i've mentioned him multiple times going back to last year he's just a competitive bad ass and i love that about him you know i don't know anything about adrian peterson the person there's been obviously a lot that's gone on personally with him over the years on field he's a hall of famer and is still playing at a high level i mentioned last week aaron remember that interception by nicholson where they start at the one yard line should come out to the twenty and they gave it to adrian peterson and he was stopped in the end zone for what should have been a safety in somehow he carried like i people out to the three yard line he's just still really good in really effective you know obviously it's against the dolphins i understand that i just love the way he competes i love how hard he runs i've pointed to the game last year against tennessee multiple times as a game in which you know you know there there are few of them you know each year where you get a team that's battling for a playoff spot and they have to win a game as an underdog like the redskins were tennessee on a saturday in late december last year and they're not very good as a team and adrian peterson basically just put him put the team on his back contrite to will them to victory with josh johnson quarterback he went for one hundred twenty yards on the day you know and just was was incredible that day he was really good yesterday i just like him a lot by the way they ran a lot of multiple tight end sets if you notice that that was one of the things that you know all all bill callahan said he was gonna do run the all by the way as a quick aside on friday or actually on wednesday or thursday on the podcast you know we talked about the the press conference the callahan had on wednesday where he was taking subtle shots at j. the whole organization was taking subtle shots at jay gruden all week and and callahan started off by saying you know i'm not real big into talking about injuries remember that aaron from the press conference the other day real subtle shot at j i just don't think it's it makes much sense to sit here and talk about injuries on a wednesday and it's not my thing because by the way jay gruden started every press conference off with listing all the theories but a lot of coaches dubai but coolly on the podcast friday if you were listening said he was he said you know it's really funny and ironic that callahan would say i don't like to talk about injuries you know that's what the other guy did you know in basically implying that it's dumb to tell everybody in your your competition about all the stories when you don't have to and then he proceeded as cooley said on friday to tell you the game plan for sunday which is we're going to run the ball you know that that was pretty funny i liked adrian peterson a lot yesterday and again all of this is with the caveat of it was against the dolphins attari scorn dolphins are no dolphins he's really good like the redskins found something and terry maclaurin i mean i think we would all agree with that he has edible route running ability he's got a big burst in great speed he separates i mean think about how many times this year terry mclaren's wide open going back to the philadelphia opener get in the game yesterday four catches one hundred yards two more touchdowns unitary maclaurin is a top five candidate right now for offensive rookie of the year i'm not kidding about that keiler murray gardner minhsiu daniel jones terry maclaurin that's the list right now maybe the guy from oakland the running back jacobs mclaren's on that list right now for offensive rookie of the year he's really good even if he did it against the dolphins he's been good against other teams i think a bunch of defensive players actually played well yesterday again they're facing a truly dreadful offense a football team especially with josh rosen in the game and by the way i like josh rosen i've liked him not with that team not yesterday i'll grant you that but there's something about rosen that have liked going back to UCLA it may not work out for him you know what here's the deal on most of these first round quarterbacks it doesn't work out for most of them the majority of them aren't good in the NFL i thought there were players that played well on defense yesterday i thought collins played well i thought bostick look good i thought alan was exceptional jon allen dunbar dunbar like he's actually a good cornerback the guy trayvon hester who didn't know who that was before yesterday number ninety six played well i thought ryan anderson before he got hurt played well that that was a terrible terrible roughing the passer penalty called on him pain shawn deehan hamilton had a nice day it was the best day of the season defensively but again you gotta consider the competition miami was an awful all around team coming into the game they were thirty first overall in offense dead last in russia offense and the truth is they actually ran it pretty well against the redskins at times waldman drake combined for seventy two yards on sixteen carries sixteen four sixty four eight four four and a half yards per carry seventy two yards on sixteen carries defense had five sacks early down sacks to a couple of them were i in hence acts they held miami to three for fourteen on third down so the his storage lee bad third-down numbers through the first four games have improved here over the last two weeks they have right now the red skins on third down defensively after the last two weeks of decent performances are giving fifty point six percent on third down that's still got awful but it's now up to thirty first atlanta's giving up fifty six percent on third down right now so the redskins are thirty i in third down defense and improvement and they were really good yesterday by the way doesn't that tell you just how bad it's been over i five weeks that they were that the dolphins went three for fourteen yesterday in the skins are still only thirty first on third down defense so the defense had some good performance look i don't know what their talent is i don't know that it's great talent it probably isn't great talent but they do have good talent john allens talented landon collins is talented pain in ionitsis are pretty good i think this guy holcomb looks like a talent dunbar's pretty good is it a good defense with this decent talent not from a production standpoint you know yesterday three quarters against a horrible quarterback team in horrible offensive team it looked good but then ryan fitzpatrick came in and made it look not so good i don't know what they are defensively as a team i think they're not great i think they've got a great coaching situation defensively and i think their talent is good not elite and they certainly don't have a game changer you know they don't have a khalil mack they don't have a von miller montas sweat was a little bit better i think he's getting more comfortable he's a hope he's one of my hopes anyway for the future on defense also in the things i like lest i think jeremy sprinkles pretty good anybody else feel that way he can block he had a really good catch on a case keenum throw that was typical of a lot of the throws which were inaccurate i think he's a player what else did i have on this list trust way what is best day but i'll just keep them on this list i thought kevin o'connell in his first day of calling plays did a pretty decent job of keeping miami a little bit off balance all right the things that i didn't like a case keenum's not a very good quarterback i hope you all realize that at this point it's not that he's terrible and he's a competitor and he's tries hard and he makes plays and he can make some throws made some good throws to maclaurin two touchdown passes and then by the way maclaurin should've pulled in i didn't mention this when i was mentioning terry mcclure and he had a drop on a play that problem would've been a fifty yard play you know we had so much room to to catch and run with it but keenum's just so inaccurate i mean we we've seen this going back to the philadelphia game and he misses wide open guys in the third down throws to quinn twice and i think paul richardson on another occasion option under pressure there late in the fourth quarter when he was running backwards and running around near the goal line and then he just chucked it in the general direction of to miami defensive employers keenum's i just don't i'm i'm clearly missing.

"Here's a Mount Rushmore and he is one of the greatest hockey players certainly of his time or you know it was the Mount Rushmore. Just athletes coaches out of the equation. Are you gonna Ami Bond Walter Johnson because I yes Jesus. How could you not Sammy Baugh. There's no Washington redskins without Sammy Baugh he wants to NFL Championships in every list of great great nfl players he's in the top ten every list and Walter Johnson only the greatest right hander and the history of Major League Baseball pitchers. I know you gotta leave them off because they didn't happen. You were born you know since you were born before seeing they don't count well. That's your thing before. She doesn't in count okay fine then. Let's so if it's if it's Sammy Ball Walter Johnson Alex veteran then we can just right now. It's a very quick debate who would be the fourth and final one on that Mountain Mount Rushmore. That's that's a tough one at a time gotta be. It's it's got to be a player from one of the pro teams. Yeah I get that. I understand that it's got to be one of the major teams. Take Gimme Johan. Oh Hand Kroth now. I mean look people would say Rigaud. I think I think people might say Rigaud. The people might say Darryl Green. I think people might say Darryl Green there. There's another one that I immediately popped into my head and that is Elvin Hayes I. I don't think anyone's going to buy any. I don't care whether anybody else buys into it. I'm telling you what I think. Elvin Hayes your. NBA He's the greatest NBA player in the history of the city Eddie. I get that but you're mount. Rushmore is a pebble. If you put Elvin Hayes Oh okay so but the just you would put him ahead of John. Wall Gilbert arenas and WES unseld. Wouldn't you know I wouldn't put my son upsell. MVP and rookie involved here in Baltimore. Okay Okay in Baltimore. Yeah I. I wouldn't put him ahead of West. Okay so and when you do your Baltimore Mount Rushmore you can put wes unseld on there with cal ripken in Johnny United States and I'm sure I can come up with the fourth year if you give me some time. Eddie emerged but I yeah Rigaud and probably Darryl Green because Darryl Green was probably a better all-time great at his position now they're both they're both equal green and rigour probably equal and I mentioned this you previously I'm always fascinated. Why can Houston doesn't get he's do as one of the all-time great redskins he is consistently. Lee when you see the list of the greatest safeties the NFL his he's in the top five an and there's no other player in Redskins history other than Sammy Baugh that that you can say that about no you're right absolutely and I think he played twelve years in the NFL seven of which were the redskins his yeah yeah he doesn't he hasn't got his do absolutely yeah but not on Mount Rushmore right here on my route Mount Rushmore radio for no not no not on my Mount Rushmore of Communist. You are and sports talk hosts yes. You are all right real quickly before we run today. I do have a smell test. Pick a Tommy. I think I've told you this. Maybe it didn't the other day. The smell test is on a bit of a a bit of a heater thirty a and one over the last three weeks. It's all time I was twelve and three last week nine yeah no two weeks ago nine five and one in between so that's thirty eight and one over the last thirty six fifteen in one for the season season so I am. I'm helping people pay some bills in a lot more I like Seattle tonight laying the point and a half at home against the rams. I I don't like an errand. I don't know if you feel the same way. I don't like these Thursday night games. I think they're very unpredictable. When it comes to betting them but there's a lot of public action on the rams and and they're super sharp action from what I was told late last night on the seahawks and SORTA goes hand in hand with what I've been thinking I pick Seattle to win the division and I thought the rams might have a step back year. maybe a playoff year but not as good as last year and I think we've seen some chinks the rams armor you know last week definitely. Tampa Bay by the way Tommy just as quickest. Oh my God we didn't do the NFL power rankings today we haven't done. NFL power rankings cue up the outgoing. Yes we are going to know. I'm not doing it why I'm not doing it because I don't feel like doing it they. Do you know how hard it is to do this week. I'm not doing it. Get prepared right now. You're going to do IT I. I'm not doing it. You're doing it. I'm making you do it. I'm not I'm not doing yes you are. You're going to do it all right fine. You don't have to do it. I I was just going to tell you that I think after new England Kansas City. It actually gets very hard this week. It's not as obvious it's as it's been because the rams got beat fifty five to forty last week by Tampa Bay and what I was going to say before. We basically excused ourselves from doing. NFL power rankings today is that the buccaneers right now or a vegas favorite. I mean the the Vegas oddsmakers loved themselves. Some Tampa Bay buccaneers they they're they're. They're the numbers on futures their line this week. At New Orleans is three. It's super short. You saw it open at five and a half six and it's down to three and a half three yeah. I think that's a couple of weeks ago number. No I'm pretty sure that was Sunday's. There's no way we had a nine point move from Sunday not nine three point move. I five and a half say oh that's right you. Orleans for six hundred three okay mic my fault. Yes so yeah. That's very possible. I've seen Erin on some of these sites. They've had some lines from a couple of weeks ago that they've indicated was the opening line. I only WanNa look at the Sunday. You know the the late late Sunday night opening line to see the movement is not from a few weeks ago but anyway vegas loves Tampa they in the buccaneers they they got some talent. They've got a coach offensively. They've got a defensive coach in bowls. they go to New Orleans. You're you're next Washington redskins head coach. I predict predicted that to Thanks for listening to the show. Did you see I. I think I had that before you. I don't think he did this. This is your got it for me but that's okay. You can't remember anything. You've got to write your off my Mount Rushmore. I'm good. I don't WanNa be on yours figured out. An offer book. Put up a list for redskins coach week one of next year. The favourite isn't debate coach but it's not Todd Bowles. I know I know it's Byron left-wing. Oh well interesting yeah yeah like we're not a lot of less out there that have falls on it. Yeah I well the reason I said it and you grabbed onto it and ran with it is because Joe because Joe Gibbs likes todd odd bowls a lot and I think we both believe the Dan's got one place to turn when he gets rid of everybody hopefully in that's coach. Joey just doesn't have many people people that he can rely on or go to do realize this is not. This is not true. I do realize what I didn't talking about. Todd Bowles Goals as the next head coach for a while now. I've been talking about Todd Bowles as the next head coach when he was coaching the jets I was talking about todd bowls as the defensive coordinator a great defensive coordinator and a guy of loved for I don't know four years now and you definitely you grabbed onto that that trend which is fine. You do a lot of times. It's Okay Todd Bowles at the next head coach when he was still playing for the redskins. I was talking about todd. Bowles is the next redskins head coach when they drafted Todd Bowles back in one thousand nine hundred eighty six or whatever your was all right. I'm done with you. anyway. Seattle is a smell test minus one and a half tonight I'm pretty sure the smell test is gonNA crash and burn this week Aaron. You know why I 'cause I love the board and that is probably a kiss of death the kiss of death for the weekend but stay tuned tomorrow tune in tomorrow because I'll have my complete smell test for the weekend. Seattle tonight minus one and a half by the way I'd lean South Alabama as well against Georgia Georgia southern but that's not an official smell smell test. Pick Tommy. Thank you appreciate it enjoy tonight. Enjoy tomorrow night. and I will talk. Maybe I'll I'll read your column that you just wrote and everybody re Tommy's columns. Follow me on twitter and you can link right to the columns from there but we'll talk together on the show on Tuesday but I'm sure we'll talk to you before then all right boss take care if if you're listening to us on Itunes or apple podcasts race review a salsa subscribed that helps it doesn't cost you thing and remind people that would like to listen to the podcast asked that they can listen to it on the Kevin Sheehan show dot com also just a reminder. I'm back on radio on. ESPN NOT ESPN nine eighty the team nine eighty right which by the way we're also F._M. Right now ninety nine point five which is F._M. Signal that some of you will get perfectly in some of you won't but Amman seven to ten A._M. In the morning have a great day. Enjoy the nets game tonight..

"The guy's is not putting in the work. The guy's not getting any better the guy's a major long term project if we put him on the field. We can't operate a professional national offense. We can't evaluate other people offensively not to mention the fact. He's GonNa get himself. Hurt you know and I don't think that they would tell me that I I haven't heard that. I don't think they would say it to you. I don't think they would say to us now. It doesn't mean that they don't think he's a project but but there's gotta be something that Jay Gruden can put out there Ford Twain Haskins to get him live bullet real game experience over these last three quarter last three quarters of the season there so many things that can be done with these young quarterbacks you cut the playbook in half ghetto if reading reading defenses and getting them in the right protection schemes are so important they can go with nothing but hot routes you know they can they can they move away from max-protect and having throw hot on every throw so he's not literally reading out. Is it cover one. Is it cover to cover three there lots of things is that Jay gruden could do you know to make him more comfortable and to get him playing time the rest of the way. That's my big problem with this again again. If somebody called me up after hearing me say this on radio at your hearing me say this on the podcast from the organization and say CAF off the record look he he he can't he can't do it. I mean plus. He's not putting in the work. He's not he's not. He's not here early leaving late. He's he's not putting in all the work. He's not getting it. He can't function you know. He's a great kid but he can't function right now. He's he's. He's a year overweigh minimum unless I heard that I want him to play okay. I'll try to look. Here's here's here's here's the problem that that that that on countering you know. I get my thoughts in between the time you start talking and the time that you're dod so you better start writing them down. That's what I do when you're talking. I'm I'M GONNA have to start writing them. That's what I do when you're talking. I write them down. Look Erin. Look at all my notes notes as I'm writing down when Tom he's talking 'cause. I don't forget you. GotTa have a pattern paper a pen and paper in front of you. Trust me drone on and onto who occasionally yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah okay here. Elba quarterbacks that you brought up before I think this is a difference. There weren't three choices. Is there to be made. There's three choices for Jay. Gruden with the Redskins know if there was no case keenum or if there was no Cole McCoy this this would be a lot easier but but any most of the quarterbacks that you brought up like the quarterbacks are usually thrown into play. The coaches don't don't usually have three choices. There's two choices so I think that complicates everything now. The other thing is if Jay Gruden Star Art Him against the Patriots is his agenda to damage the kid or if say Gruden doesn't start him against Haskins askins against the Patriots is his agenda to hold him back. You'll hear people make both cases. You'll hear people say well if he starts them against the Patriots. He's putting them out there to get killed. He's put like like Louis. Riddick said he's putting them out there to fail. You know so I mean the thing I I don't know. I'm Jay can't win if he starts them. He's got an agenda if he doesn't start 'em he has an agenda and this is. Dr And that's and that act nothing the older kid may have nothing to do but driving that narrative but people around him do and that's what's pissing. Jay grew off aw that makes a lot of sense to me the whole you know. He's he's pissed off because you know that in that last comment you know aw there. He's going to be wrong either. Way Is is sensitive to the criticism which by the way what you're saying he probably thinks are coming from people people that are close to the kid and and probably people in in its own building yeah and maybe even people in his own building and for him. He's like look doc. I've I've been a coach forever. I've coached quarterbacks forever. I know what I'm doing. I know how to handle these situations and he's probably very frustrated and by the the way I think your point and I wrote this went down as you were going on and on I wrote down the three choices thing is. I actually think that's a really good good point. I would just say to you what I said to you. In the summer. I get rid of the third choice so it's not a temptation like this. I this was a mistake to have a third choice. Yes I mean. There's no debate. There's no argument you know. It's either one guy or the other and I mean the three. Troy is particularly one of those choices Cole McCoy. You know that piece of candy and I'd say Gouden can ignore complicates everything all right well. You're not going to be here or be back on the show until Tuesday the answer this question. Do you think Colt McCoy will be the starter Sunday. Oh yes absolutely I absolutely do and and I can't believe I'm not going to be there for it. I I've been there for it. It'll be funny because if he survives the game which by the way we'll get odds on tomorrow as to whether or not he'll actually take every snap and the game. He'll be looking for you in the press conference afterwards. Where's My dad. Where's the Tommy you know. I forget if we did this together on Tuesday. But can you imagine if he starts. Colt McCoy and McCoy puts up a two two hundred ninety yard three touchdown no pick day to score thirty one in their game late with a chance to beat the Patriots. Oh Oh yeah we talked about this and we talked about how how unbelievable I mean the most unbelievable part I would miss that I mean I you know I mean but but we both know that that's that's you know like you know not all fairytales and happy endings and this one's not gonna end the happy ending recall what unfortunate what if Sunday the nats win the Redskins win and the mystics out what is the Washington Times and Washington Post handle their front page while the Redskins are clearly inside on page two. Oh that's that's the obvious thing if they beat. I'm kidding. I'm kidding what what's one of them would be on the front page of the paper. Not just the front pages not the sports section I if the Redskins beat the Patriots there on page one what if the nats eliminate the dodgers Sunday Sunday night and they win the series then they're on pace one and then what is what does the sports section look like well well then I. I don't know that's the post for sex. I don't care about this. Why would I care about their sports. I don't know I don't know what else do you have the caps one last night. I watched. I actually watched a lot of the game. You know what I mean. I love Jobe locker. They're awesome. It's such a great impairing and it has been for so long. Just like buck and Phil were and I and I enjoy watching them and you know I don't watch a lot of regular season hockey but last night I I was watching because the Saint Louis had the banner hanging thing from their Stanley Cup. It was a year later from when the caps did it you know last year for their season opener and and I watched a lot of the game I mean the American League game jumped out real quickly with Diaz hitting that home run in the first and then hitting home run in the third and that game was over ver- early almost like Milwaukee was overly except Tampa never made a run back but I watched it and I first of all. I'm saying this to Erin and I know you don't care about the stuff tommy the NBC family of networks to such good job with hockey. It's just perfect and doc. Emrick is just so awesome to listen to call the game but anyway they they they got they got an overtime winner from Verona to win the game. That's all I have on that game ovechkin and I in watching the game it. It seemed to me that the caps dominated the blues but they went to overtime in one the game anyway a lot of people picking the caps ups Tommy to be deep into the postseason. If not a Stanley Cup winner well okay. That's it yeah I mean I mean come on. I mean what am I supposed to decide. Oh you don't play you would have put you in a breakdown their third line no out in the first round last year what everyone thought they were good to dominate. I mean we're we're we're so don't talk to me about by the way you'll love it. You'll love this and I'm GonNa find it real quickly. I got one of those tweets from one of those people that didn't like that. I said I'm not a big caps fan which I I don't know if I said it with you and Tuesday or yesterday on the podcast you send you send it with me on Tuesday. I've said it a million times. I'm that's of the four teams that's the one that I don't have a lot of passion for not a big hockey guy and I've just never been a huge caps fan like I don't sit there and live and die on everything so anyway I i. I'm looking for it and I can't find it but basically I got one of those tweets. It said I heard what you said about the caps if you're going to care so little and you're not going to root caps. I'M NOT GONNA listen to your show anymore in one of those and Gosh. I hope you reach out to that person. Yeah smooth that over. I I did I I I. I basically said I'm not going to you know it's it's it look. You don't have a rooting interest in any of the local teams there are there are other talk show host. I know one on your station. That is a forty niners fan not a Redskins Fan in. We've had that at our station before that that's not white the people I mean I think it is a benefit personally in local sports talk radio to be a fan of the teams and to really have an understanding ending of a of the teams you know and I am. I do have an understanding the root for every other team very passionately but for whatever reason I've just never been a big hockey fan. I love a playoff hockey but basically I just said look. I'M NOT GONNA fake emotional investment in a team that I don't have it for you. Know the they're good team. I love playoff off hockey. I just don't have the same feeling when they lose or win that I do for other teams and whatever he he got upset. He said Rub them the wrong way. I'm sorry about that but I that's the way I feel. I did watch the game last night. However I am amazed by Ovechkin who at thirty four years old and count it out pretty much before the Stanley Cup finals in the Stanley Cup winning season has probably played at some of his best hockey the last two seasons and it looks like you know based on last night. He may be in line for another great year. He's Altana title rate. DC Athlete Right. He's he's very pleased to being Mount Rushmore as an all-time DC athlete. Oh I think he is on Mount Rushmore. I mean he's it's not the greatest athlete in the history of the town but he's he's among he is..

"That's Kevin in DC after you go to mybookie. Dot Ag you play you win. You get paid. We'll get to the redskins shortly and what Jay Gruden Gordon said yesterday because it certainly would appear that we are headed towards a colavero start on Sunday against the Patriots but I wanted to ask you about not something because I talked about it on the radio show this morning and I didn't see all of this stuff until late yesterday about Tony Kornheiser comments about the front page of the Sports Section in the post yesterday so let me catch everybody up to speed the post yesterday the print edition front page page of its sports section if you didn't see it they put the mystics game two loss to Connecticut at the very top of the sports sections top page front page with the headline Della John Hurt as son draws even now for those of you. That don't know what that means. That's about the mystics best player. Elaine de la Don. She was the league. MVP The sun is the Connecticut Sun. That's the team. The mystics are right now playing in the WNBA finals. I'm being in specific about that because I think there are a lot of people that actually don't know what's going on in the WNBA finals but the mystics are really good team. The series is dead even at one game apiece and they played game two on Tuesday night same night that the nats were playing the brewers in the wildcard game and on Wednesday morning the Post Post put the Mystic Connecticut game at the top or above the full. That's what they call it right. Tommy above the and for the rest of the front page the sports section and probably two thirds the remaining two thirds of that front page was the nets game where they had the headline won- John for the money is in one for one Soto in his big hit cer- Tony had a problem with the choice that I guess the Editors Make Tommy's at the editor's that make these decisions yes. They do okay so on his podcast yesterday. He said it's insane that the Washington Post stripped stripped that mystics game across the top the nets got the bigger play and he's saying that they got more of that front page but you've gotta be kidding me and I said I yeah I mean. You've got to be kidding me. You know he just didn't think that the mystics deserve that by the way he drew a ton of criticism for those comments including including a comment from a reporter at the Post. Her name is able Wallace. I don't know what she writes but she responded on twitter saying Imagine Agean watching the nets win this is in response to Tony's response imagine watching the nets win and feeling those beautiful feelings in seeing that giant happy picture on the front page age and then thinking you know it soured this the presence of women how utterly pathetic is what Able Wallace. She's a reporter for the Post. I think what she tweeted out. I know Tony Pretty well. I can guarantee you that Abe completely missed the point. It had nothing to do with women it had to do with which which one of these two teams deserve the above the fold headline positioning. He would have felt the same way had. DC united been above the fold versus the the nats off of the wild card win being in that spot in my view Tommy. He's a hundred percent right now. I don't understand the inner workings of this and this is going to rely on you to help me here but from the perspective of being a reader being post subscriber. I still get the post delivered now. I don't always read the print edition I read the online edition probably more but I love Sunday mornings with my Washington Post sports section and I get the New York Times delivered on Sundays indies well with coffee and breakfast and a Bagel. I liked that I liked the addition. I still get USA Today's Friday edition because I'd like to spend section in USA. I'd say today like to spread it out even though it's been reduced to like two and a half pages but my perspective is from what my expectations of the post would be and that maybe by the way at complete odds with what makes better business sense what makes better editorial sense. I don't know but I would have thought that in ah I it's not what I would think I know that there is a significantly bigger audience for the nets wildcard game then for the mystics. WNBA championship game. I promise you that there is no chance that the number of people interested in that mystics game isn't a tiny fraction of the number of people interested in the Nats brewers game so I ask you. Was that a mistake. I don't know if it was a mistake. It's it wouldn't have been again. It's a judgment call so I don't think it's a mistake I mean Dan Steinberg tweeted something up and I thought that was pretty accurate. What have I didn't read it. Basically he said you know if they made these judgments solely on who would read stories then they'd run. Dallas cowboys stories and car crashes in the paper and that would be it. I mean if you may if you made decisions based John. You know how many clicks us that the the online sir but how many eyeballs you get to a story you know you. The cowboys crashes. That's one piece of this like if you're just in it to draw eyeballs okay. That's a good answer editorial royal standpoint from an editorial standpoint I mean do you really come to the conclusion that the mystics get top billing over the nets winning a wildcard game. No no no that that's but again it's it's not there. I don't know if there's a right or wrong. It's a judgment call in something like this. Servian look I I am. I I have led the parade against the idea that we have some kind of obligation to cover women's sports because it's the right thing to do. I mean I've I've let that I mean we basically this is. This is a business. It's not a nonprofit you know operation and you know so I I'm all in. I understand what Tony saying and I agree with them to some extent there. There can't be any debate that it's not even close that what the more significant story is to readership or the nationals over domestics six but I don't have as big a problem with the placement as he does. I don't think it's insane I think and and part of what's going on here is I know I know the way the editors think particularly editors at the post and they have an agenda that comes through I've seen with Olympic Coverage I've seen it before with other coverage. you know it's just I mean they. They have a certain feeling that they have some kind of greater duty here in terms and and it makes them look good among their other editors in the business at the New York Times and the La Times which is all they really compete with in terms of that so there's a lot going on here here. I don't think it's insane. I think it was the wrong decision but again. It's a judgment call Aaron. What did you say I was saying. I don't know if that was much as editorial all decision to put it top as it was designed decision with with the way they laid that out and especially with that weird at across the bottom which I find more offensive than anything was the ad there's the bottom injure so was just a big ad across the bottom took up some space but the way they did with the kind of three quarters of a bit on the nats and then just kind of that top thing I it seems like the post is socially the person general when they had the layout they put the one smaller story up top and then the rest the page is the one big story so I feel like. It's almost a design decision. More than an editorial decision may be right. Maybe right away ads ads on on the front pages of of sections. That's only something that's happened in in in the last ten or twelve years or so maybe longer but I mean for years ears you would never put an ad on the front page of the sports section but now I mean I'm surprised they know put them on the front page period. I think he would have been. I think you you may have been okay with the insane. Description had been like AFIFA qualifier that they put up there had been soccer. You probably would have been more of upset. I don't know I mean here's the here's the bottom line in this day and age. I don't really care 'cause I don't use the print. Edition is the primary way I don't use the post. Sports Section is away to really get news anymore. I mean it's it's too outdated and even online with all due respect because I like a lot of columnists. I Love Barry. I love Dave Shannon. I Love Sally you know and I like. I like a many of their columnists but I don't post doesn't break stories. They're beat reporters really don't break a lot of stories when it comes to the teams that I care about you. Get more of that from you know some of the bloggers and some of the people on Sports Talk Radio or some of the people you know that are you know beat reporters sports talk radio stations or in town than you do from the post but I do like the columns but I didn't see it before the radio show and before the podcast yesterday but afterwards I I looked at it and if I'd seen that first thing in the morning I would have been surprised at that very surprised I I understand the reaction completely. I mean it's the the mystics Tommy the game nationally on television. Ah Vision did a zero point three six rating nationally. That's barely even a number that registers. I've no idea what it did locally. I don't think they'll release that number on the nets game by the way because you know I love. This stuff did an eight point eight local rating on tbs the other night which actually okay isn't that it's it's lower than I would have thought it would have been yeah same with me now. It's TB Isis at it's TBS. It's not network work. You know there is a cable versus network. I don't know the I'm not a ratings experts so I don't know if that's a huge difference anymore. I know it some difference. Prince because there are people in homes without cable television so they couldn't see the game on TBS. They would have been able to see the game. Had it been on Fox as is an example Actually there's a lot more people now without cable television than there have been and maybe in the past ten years with some yeah the the quarterback yeah. They're they're right. They're getting it from all these other places but anyway on the nets as an exam as a comparison for game five against the Cardinals Twenty twelve did a sixteen point seven did a ten point three in game five against the dodgers in two thousand sixteen. I couldn't find the cubs number but if my memory serves me correctly directly it was like a fourteen or fifteen in game five against the cubs so I am surprised that it was an eight point eight I would have thought it would have been a little bit higher but yeah but by the way just also as another sort of as an aside. I've talked a lot about how we've done this together about how in the Redskins fan base has been roading how the television ratings are awful and you know when I did this this morning. A couple of people tweeted me and said you know oh well. You know how that the redskins ratings look. When we've ripped the REDSKINS television ratings that's in comparison to what the redskins used to do not in comparison to what other teams in town do because his bad is the redskins are as dysfunctional as they are as much as their fan base is eroded voted they are still by far and away the Kings of sports television in this market that game against the giants on Sunday which was is a super low near all time low rating for the REDSKINS for a regular season game and by the way a bad game that was over early. It still did a twelve twelve point three you know the Nats playoff game didn't eight point eight so it still you know significantly higher than anything else by the way that twelve point three. We didn't talk about this. The other day at twelve point three seven eight years ago would do for a preseason game. It's really exactly the remarkable the third preseason the fourth year in game yeah I mean it is so remarkable hell far they've fallen but for those that then and will it be by extension will say well. Why do you talk so much redskins on the podcast or why do you talk so much redskins on the radio show well because it's still by far far away the thing that appeals to the majority significant majority in this city despite of how bad they are It's not just the redskins skins. It's the NFL. It's the NFL most city. I'd be better off the way this is the way an offer we to Dan's point. We'd be you better off talking about the cowboys on a daily basis. If we were looking for the largest audience potential even in this city then talking about a couple a couple of the other teams which will lead the conversation for now. Yes we've Steinberg and I have had that discussion for years that who what what the paper would have the co pay for it would have the guts start covering the cowboys on a regular basis. Well you know I I swear to you. I have wait remember. We did a couple of times we we jokingly did like Ravens at one or cowboys at one hundred years. I do think I mean the cowboys ratings wise television ratings wise have now you know in the Ravens to have out drawn the redskins late and regular seasons a couple of times the last a few years you know people and talking head to head like one o'clock one o'clock for twenty four twenty five so I have thought about with respect to the radio station which which.

"I believe that he does play because this is a forgiving. LII In especially when you have the type of talent and production that we've seen from Antonio Brown there we'll there will be a team that understands. He makes them better in between the lines. I agree this is important to point out at Tony. Brown has not interviewed the League about his sexual assault allegations nations he might not have to because he's a free agent he is not employed by the League so this could be a drag out for a while they could delay when he plays clear someone tried to sign him then those those interviews would take place as right if he became an NFL employees again one would assume the league would then interview well right but then the leaker just put them on that commission executives such as basically pay leave and the team has to deal with that. Nobody wants to sign that right now as we speak Jon Gruden is talking about vont perfect in London so as soon as we have that will turn it around for you as quickly as possible in the meantime library on the hurry up through a couple of quarterback situations around the League Jeremy. Here's a question has gardner men's. You've done enough to stay the Jaguars starting quarterback the rest of this year they believe he's a legitimate starting starting quarterback but they want to see how this plays out because Nick foles they have him under contract for four years at about eighty million dollars so they are locked in with them. They still believe in him but he's not going to be back till about week. Twelve twelve or so late November working back collarbone and so they're going to really see what they have in men's shoe but I'm told from people inside the building. They love his poise and that could play out long-term. Let me get to Chicago a Condo Mitchell. trubisky is still got a shoulder. What are we hearing about the possibility of him coming back soon. They're going to play it safe with him. So there's a chance he could come back week seven coming off that by but they we're not. GonNa Guarantee Right now. They're going to see how he responds because they really loved Chase Daniel. He's a career backup but he can come in and win them some games. He's very accurate. Matt Maggie will love that and bear in mind again eh this week they go against Oakland in London and then finally Kyle Allen two hours the panthers starting quarterback. What is the situation with him. If can win ham gets healthy yeah. This one is the most fascinating to me because from what I'm hearing there is a chance they would ride the hot handier Cam Newton over his last eight and this team coach Ron Rivera. The pressure is on. They need to win right now. Kyle Allen he might not be the long term solution but they believe he's more than a project. He's delivering. The ball renew needs to and they wanted to straight. That's all that matters to that. The expression denting wally pipped of course. There's one that we've known about him. Sports going all the way back to Lou Gehrig and so of these three situations. Where could you see a guy keeping job. We're talking MINZHU. We're talking Daniel. We're talking Kyla Alan. None of them. Keep the job when these quarterbacks come back healthy and they're all different situations you move up a pick two number to get. Mitchell trubisky. He you have to see if he's your guy of the future also get nick foles you pay him. The fifty million guaranteed eight million dollar contract and he's a former super bowl. MVP and Cam was is a transcended sending talent in this league. He has been the Carolina Panthers since two thousand twelve and you understand his ceiling if a one hundred percent healthy but now you have an opportunity Geico Allen to let him get there. I don't believe any of these quarterbacks maintain their jobs. Once the incumbent is back whether they should shoot as an argument we can have it. I think you're wrong. I think they all lose their jobs. Frankly if these guys might well because I think you said week twelve if they're in playoff condensing and route twelve behind him they're not gonNA pull them for Nick foles. They'll find somewhere to send. Nick falls do something to get rid of them. The only that I think probably deserves his job back. I think is Cam Newton given what he's done in the past but I think that they would move they'd be willing to move on from him too because I think the scuttle butt in that city at least that maybe cams best days are behind him and as far as the bears thinking about the future. The future is now for the bears so they decide that Mitchell trubisky is not the guy to win this year. I don't think they care how good he's going to grow into. The other side of that of course is who the backup that we're talking about is he got young men shoe kind of taken the League by by Storm Allen's some question. Daniel is a career backup for a reason. He's had ample opportunity in other places. I have to believe trubisky when trubisky is healthy. They'll put them back on the field or or at the big story in the NFL this week of course has been raiders. Linebacker von says perfect being suspended for the season by the League and that is just take an attorney here you know that he's out without pay for the remainder of this year after the helmet-to-helmet hit on colts tight end Jack Doyle Sunday. It is the third suspension for non field incident for perfect. The raiders as I mentioned intern London head coach Jon Gruden is addressing the media on this topic as we speak. Here's what he had to say. I'm not GONNA say anything. I'm I'm Dr. Runyon in the League office knows. I feel a hurts our team really bed and I just to see what the appeal says. I'm not happy about it at all and I don't want to say L. Some obviously upset about it. What an interesting month. It has been for Jon Gruden one way or yeah they all the staff and now this what what what do we make. Let's start with the appeal. The chances that gets down a source says the appeals likely to happen Tuesday and perfect multi-tiered argument. He's going to say everybody's playing this plan. Slow motion nationally if you play it at speed. You'll see that it's not an egregious it any more than some some of the other around the league. There were four or five vicious ones so Lamont Smith is agent. I spoke to said we're gonNA argue that you know why should hit. There wasn't even the worst on Sunday suspended guy for for a full season. They're hoping that it's taken on particular merit. They know his history but Smith. He's also a changed man. He's voted a team captain by the raiders they feel that he's tried to turn the page and he was a victim victim of a fast moving play. Maybe a changed man but he's not a change player and listen. I played the game in a certain way. I play the game where when I will go home almost Sunday nights. The wife would tell me we'll get a fine for that because it was she knew there was gonna be a fed ex package in my locker on Wednesday morning and I had to change my game win the rules change when the NFL PA and the NFL got together and made us more aware of CT and these different things player safety became one of the priorities ladies of both of the organizations we had to change and there there were times where if you go toward the end of my career there were more head injuries for me than the beginning because I had to changed the way I hit so I was getting need inside the head and different things because I understood the rules and so I know a player can change and this isn't the worst hit from Sunday. We will talk about the one that is but also when you watch the play whether it's slow motion fast motion present time future past he doesn't in any way. Try Try to change the way he's going to say. He doesn't turn his shoulder. He doesn't go to wrap and so for me. There is no intention there and when you don't show intention to be different they have to punish you in this way. My guess is is the suspension will probably get reduced at some point but this video is bad and whatever speed you look at it. He puts his helmet down in his four. I'm not sure that I'm I'm not bothered necessarily that he hit him hard because dental is trying to get up you gotta get there especially can in tackling but what he did was something that was frankly celebrating this league for many years. He's a dinosaur in the way that he plays he hasn't been able to evolve but that the way that he plays and you you beat around it a little bit but when we hit people and I got a couple of Fedex to I'm no no not a big guy but I can't somebody not looking. I'm a light up. The way that we played was a way that you wanted to inflict the most pain as possible as you can on the other team and so as Burger perfect has not been able to figure out how to continue to play in this league that way so I think that those essential get reduced by if he doesn't again he'll be out forever the league though they have a the president to try to set and this is a player who has accumulated over five million dollars in fines in his career multiple game suspensions so they've had enough and the players and coaches have had an. I don't think it's unreasonable to say videos forfeited the benefit of the doubt I mean I get John being frustrated. I get his teammates voted him a captain in my opinion. I don't think a lot of people are going to want to hear meanwhile. Let me get up and oh I got a couple of other things for you. Hear the Ravens posted a story and video yesterday on their website arguing. Marlin Humphrey did not Shoko BJ on Sunday when the two got into a scuffle when asked to respond browns coach Freddie Kitchen said coach. Did you see the video. That's my response. Everybody saw video. You are now looking at the video I think he has a point next we go to game two of the WNBA finals last night league MVP Elena Delle. Don Left in the first quarter with back. Spasms did not return in the mystics fill to the sun ninety eighty nine eighty seven so they're all even at one game apiece della. Don will undergo an MRI later today game three is Sunday in Connecticut and then how about this piece trailblazers guard Damian Lillard says he's a better rapper than shack who released a track Wednesday Lillard back to this up by releasing this track zone and here are some of the lyrics. No you see my pockets deep so you flexing ain't really a thing bro we both be working at Kinko's and what rings though he's got bars it I mean that's what he said. I'm merely quoting it was that it was that boy I o week just keeps greedy. Why do you never separate the bars though like that's why they're go- boers you don't drink where the separation rap like you got your delivery and you'll have no flow at down got extended cindy important lines season there if they want me to pause on that..
