Haiti's interim prime minister asked the U. S for help with the investigation into the murder. He's also asking for U. S troops to help protect the country's ports, airports and key infrastructure. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said. That request is being reviewed here. He is on Fox News Sunday. I don't know that we're at a point now where we can say definitively that our national security is being put at risk by what's happening there. But clearly we value our Haitian partners. We we value, stability and security in that country, and that's why we want to send a team down there to help them get their arms around exactly what happened. And what's the best way forward. NPR's Jackie Northam has been following developments as they unfold. She joins us now and and Jackie. Haitian authorities have arrested a third person with US ties as a suspect in the assassination. Could you tell us more about that? Sure, yes. Haiti's national police chief held a press conference last night and he said the man they have arrested is a Haitian born doctor who is based in Florida. The police chief said the man arrived in Haiti on a private plane in June and had arranged her. The Isdal Woman

"Today story isn't supernatural in itself but the mystery is so baffling it borders on other worldly. It takes place in norway in the late fall of nineteen seventy it sunday morning november twenty ninth and a professor and his two young daughters go for a hike. They're headed for a forest outside of bergen. Which is a city on norway's southwestern coast eventually they start climbing up a hillside above an area called e. stolen. Which is norwegian for ice valley. It's this gloomy desolate place surrounded by steep rocky hills and it also has a strange history. In the middle ages. People supposedly came to ice valley to take their own lives and more recently. It's been the site of a lot of fatal hiking accidents with this morning. The families just enjoying the fresh air when the oldest girl see something. It appears to be a body laying in between some rocks on the hillside. And it's been burned from what they can tell. It belongs to a dark haired woman between the ages of twenty five and forty. But she's so badly mutilated that her facial features are impossible to recognize. Her hands and arms are raised up near her chest in oppose that often seen on burn victims and she's wearing regular clothes nothing appropriate for hiking it so creepy and shocking that the family turns right around and leaves. You gotta remember. This is nineteen seventy so there are no cell phones which means that they have to walk all the way back through the woods to report the body all wondering if whoever killed this woman might be following them but they get back safely and soon a group of police trekking up the hillside overlooking the valley as soon as they start examining the body they noticed something strange. Only the front of the woman is burnt. The back of her body is completely fine. There's a definite smell of burned flesh in the air so they know that this is the place where she caught fire. She wasn't carried here after the fact and later they find a drop of gasoline on a fur hat. That's laying underneath her body but other than that. There's no evidence of an actual fire no charred logs or fuel containers. It looks like she or someone brought a bunch of items along and set them on fire to. There's a couple of shriveled plastic bottles that seemed to have just contained water a plastic cover for a passport and a melted rubber boot. The only things that haven't been burned are the women's jewelry a pair of earrings. A ring these have been carefully placed beside her in an almost ceremonial way. And there are some pieces of clothing strewn around but all the labels have been cut off same thing with the clothes on the woman's body and when the police inspect the melted plastic bottles. They noticed the names on the bottom have been rubbed out the police. Keep the body on the hill overnight until they've finished all their forensic investigations and the following. Day november thirtieth. They bring her charred remains to a hospital in bergen for an autopsy. Then they go to the press they tell the papers that a body of a young woman with dark hair and medium build has been found and they ask anyone who might have seen her to come forward. Meanwhile the bergen police team up with the national crime investigation service in oslo called creep. Ohs to begin a full inquiry into who this woman is. They run her fingerprints through the national police register. But there aren't any matches so they turn their attention to any unclaimed luggage at railway or bus stations and on december second baguette. Lucky two suitcases have been sitting in a luggage room at the bergen train station for over a week. They were checked in on november. Twenty third so six days before the body was found and at first. The cops. don't know if these are hers. But there's a fingerprint. On a pair of sunglasses inside that matches exactly with the fingerprint from the woman

Yes, Tom. Mr. Speaker. I have a letter here from the National Police Chiefs Council. It makes it clear that 403,000 records from the police national computer may have been deleted. In addition to that, In addition to that prime minister this is from the national Police Chiefs Counsel for has been briefed on this. In addition to that 26,000 DNA records. The D n a database on day 30,000 fingerprint records from the fingerprints database. So this isn't just a technical issue. It's about criminals not being caught on victims not getting justice. This letter makes clear, but it includes data from Criminals convicted of serious offenses. It has impacted life. Police investigations already and includes records, including Didna marked for indefinite retention following the conviction for serious offenses, Mr Speaker, That's the most serious offenses. That's why it's indefinite retention is being deleted. So is the prime mister seriously telling us that 10 days after this incident came to light, he still hasn't got to the bottom of the basic questions and he can't tell us how Many cases have been lost. How many serious offenders this concerns and how many police investigations have been investigated? Speak has become your feature the right honorable governments questions that he felt. It only he bothered to do that essential that swift computation in his head. He would have had the answer. Above all, he stood up and claimed not to receive it. It was there in the previous answer, Mr Speaker. Of course, Of course, it is outrageous that any data should have bean lost, but at the moment we're trying. As I said, in my first dance Mr Speaker. We're trying which I hope you heard what we're trying to retrieve that data. Yes, Style promised complains about not listening to answers. The figure I quote was 403,000 that'll be in hand. Soft. "Now, though, I want to go to Matt McClure, NBC News radio national correspondent with more on this Nashville car bomb explosion. Matt. What's the latest looking like? I don't want to say he was a computer geek, but, I mean, he was that kind of guy That knew a lot when it came to technology electronic so as far as a motive right now, where the authorities thinking Yeah. I mean, that's really what they're focusing on right now. As you as you allude to they're you know, they're trying to figure out exactly what might have led him to do this. He did, as you would say, you know, have a lot to do with computers and technology. He sort of ran his own computer and I t business out of his home with self employed in that for a long time, But people described him as sort of just a little bit of a loner and someone who stayed home a lot of the time but still no real clear motive. Of active point, But that is, of course what the investigation is turning to. All right, Matt. What about when it comes to you? Anthony Quinn Warner are authorities thinking that he was alerting people that he really didn't want. To hurt that many people. It's kind of odd to be playing music and kind of given a heads up that something is probably not right here. Right, you know, and that's what I've seen quotes from from people who either went to school with him or who were his neighbors. And they said that they that's what they believe that he clearly did not want anyone else to be hurt in this, but one of them, maybe make some sort of statement. Of course, that is, you know, unconfirmed at this point, but that is what really all of the evidence seems to be pointing to it that you really wanted to give a warning and didn't want people. Who were not maybe other than himself. You know, though, to be injured in any sort of way, right? That's kind of what the assumption is at this point. All right, man, thanks for the info.

Quim Torra, the president of the regional government of Catalonia, has officially been disqualified from office

"Last November in the build up to a general election in Spain Kim Torah, the president of the Regional Government of Catalonia hung a banner on the building in which the government sits demanding the freedom of certain of his colleagues presently in prison or in exile, and what we are going to ask Mister Sanchez. Okay. Obviously and of repression to sit together in these table of negotiations with no conditions that means that we are going to put on. The table, these referendum, these right of Catalonia to self determination, and we want to ask Mr Scientific for the amnesty for our colleagues imprison this week. This act appears to have caused cream Torah his job Spain's Supreme Court has upheld a previous decision banning him from public office eighteen months a consequence of him disobeying an earlier court order to remove the poster which was held to violate election laws against displaying political materials in were indeed on public buildings. He was also fine. Thirty thousand euros treated to a judicial wigging for his quote stubborn blunt repeated and obstinate on quote refusal to do as he was told. Others naturally be afraid of these magistrates if the Supreme Court would decide whether to disqualify democratic and legitimate president for having defended freedom of expression justice prisoners, coalitions, and the return of the exiles these traits today have in their hands. Something much more important than my political futures wanted. Not For any banner. But for banner that defended the fundamental rights denied I mean stylish kitchen. Inevitably given the nature of populist nationalist movements of the tight which Mr Tara leads he and his supporters will regard this damnation as a ringing endorsement. The practical upshot of this decision is that Catalonia has a new acting president, vice president and Economy Minister Arrogance and the Embassy of Catalan independence have been stoked once again with potentially combustible consequences. For Listeners who've been sufficiently bewildered by recent global events that decathlon succession crisis feels like something that happened circa the battle of Salamanca as opposed to three years ago a brisk recap is possibly in order. In October, two thousand and seventeen, the procession regional government of Catalonia through a referendum on independence. This vote had already been declared illegitimate by Spain's national government ruled illegal by Spain's constitutional. Court. and was widely boycotted by pro unionists within Catalonia. What they are pushing is not democracy it's a mockery of democracy travesty of democracy. Referendum do not equal or do not equate democracy. The result was ninety percent in favor of independence but on a turnout of only forty three percent. Nevertheless on October twenty, seventh, two, thousand and Seventeen Catalonia's parliament. Independence Solutia. The COLOSIO Delta repetant parliamentary get rather sit down. Though in Punta. The worst Zimba. Spain's national government was unimpressed by this and accordingly sacked Catalonia's leaders dissolved its parliament and instituted direct rule from Madrid Catalonia's. Can Preach Demont and a few other putative architects of the Catalan nation skipped the country. Wisely, it turned out those who stayed were arrested and charged with treason several received hefty prison sentences including Catalan vice president, Auriol Carris, currently serving thirteen years. President preached amount remains in exile in Belgium from where he has managed to get elected to European Parliament as a representative of Spain Vice? President John Carey has also been elected to European Parliament although for obvious reasons is yet take his seat. Absolutely none of which has caused the idea of Catalan independence to go away at least not entirely though recent polls do suggest dwindling enthusiasm for the idea from nearly forty nine percent at the time of the referendum to perhaps forty two percent. Now, President Torre has strongly suggested that regional elections may be held early in two thousand, twenty one, which he is already framing as a choice as he puts it between democracy and freedom or repression and imposition. The, difficulty with this argument is that in the present dispensation, Catalonia is not short of either democracy or freedom. It is the richest part of what is by global standards a wealthy country. It enjoys considerable autonomy electing its own parliament flying signed flag, speaking its own language, controlling its own police and many of the public services, including schools and healthcare. The Catalan independence movement often looks and sounds less like some heroic struggle to slough off a brutal imperialist yoke. The net does populist insurrection like Brexit, another self indulgent tantrum thrown by the complacent citizens of a prosperous and orderly nation rebelling against some imaginary tyranny door is breaking. Independent United Kingdom. The difference of course is that Mr Torah his colleagues and supporters do have a case on the repression and imposition front as well. The referendum of two thousand and seventeen was a stunt which all, but begged Madrid to overreact and indeed. Did Not just in its heavy-handed persecutions of the independence movements, ringleaders. But in the ham-fisted response of the National Police and Guardia Civil, which left hundreds of pro-independence protestors injured and Spain's government looking like exactly the authoritarian overlords that Catalonia's government was accusing them of being. Versus the cycle of Grievance keeps turning in firing president. Torres Spain might be about to discover again the folly of punishing those who want to be punished.

Midnight Moment 4 - Voter ID and A Conspiracy Theory - burst 1

"Jury of Nation. Part hair and it's time for another installment of Liberty Virus via the midnight moment delivery system. that. I was night three of the Democrat National Convention Day One, hundred, sixty, fifteen days flattening curb. It allows unlucky enough to over here made me throw up in my mouth a little bit I gotta be honest with you wanted to wash the taste out with out. But. In the end, I settled for for a Nice Cup of coffee. George Carlin one said I don't have pet peeves. I have made major psychotic fucking hatreds. So in the spirit of both George Carlin and my complete total annoyance with current events, we're going to cover two topics with you. Tonight the first is a voter ID, and the second as a self developed spiracy theory that I would like your indulgence to entertain as strictly a mental exercise though in our society, there are things you. Have to show ID for buying a gun getting prescription painkillers buying alcohol buying. We'd words legal of course, a buying porn. You have to show ID at the DMV the board, an airplane to board trained drive an automobile the list goes on and on and on survivor is going to be required to do any of the above things or you know conduct adulting in any way as it always is lot why states not have a? Statute that requires valid identification busted as yourself that question for a second, you may not like the answer I mean Article One section. Four of the US Constitution states the times, places and manner of holding elections for Senators and representatives shall be prescribed in each state by the legislature thereof. But the Congress may at any time by law make or alter such regulations except as to places of choosing senator I mean there was. An assumption clearly present in our constitution that citizens right to vote is protected under free speech under the First Amendment. But in a citizen right the but I mean article two section one clearly spells out that our founders framers specified who could and couldn't be president no person except the natural born citizen or citizen of the United States at the time of this adoption of this constitution shall be eligible to the office of the president. Neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained? The age of thirty five years have fourteen years been a residence within the United States our founders and framers carved out specifics. Do you really believe they had any intention any intention at all for non citizens to vote in our elections? Give me a break. So if they're going to push the agenda and by the way I'm speaking to leftists and liberals who seem to think that showing identification at a polling place is somehow minority voter suppression Oh really then I say, well, no, I devote no idea by guns no background checks ever for anything. No idea to buy booze or weed. Or board a plane. Is it. Any wonder that liberal states have started issuing driver's licenses to illegal immigrants? Because if somehow some way. We restore common sense in order to our republic and require a valid form of identification vote illegal immigrants will be their voters and their voting block. I'm not suggesting we give up the right to an anonymous ballot that's absolutely protected by the First Amendment I get it. No. One has stating that your driver's license number be attached to your ballot. But. If you can't get into a bar without id if you can't buy liquor without ID, why should you be able to access the polling place? I just want to point out and make it clear the blatant outright shitting hypocrisy and quite frankly left racism in the claim that somehow requiring an idea vote is minority suppression really I mean here in Colorado most liquor stores that I frequent require id for every transaction and believe me I do not look twenty one or younger bars and nightclubs in this area often use a barcode scanners. Id and I know that it's that way in some other states, somehow all of this is okay but somehow requiring an ID to vote arguably the most violent in the world voting is minority voter Suppression Racist Bull Shit. So as the assertion that minorities by the way don't have an ID or don't have the ability or somehow incapable of getting one, I mean the bring specificity again. Zona adults over the age of eighteen are required. To carry ID at all times. That's whether you're walking down the street driving your car or otherwise, and that has been in effect since World War. Two, this is not something new. This is not something that the Clintons or the bushes or anyone else do any time in recent history this has been the law of the land for literally decades. Whether that laws right or wrong as up to you. But really do we really need any more outside influence in our country regardless of what the political spectrum you stand on our guys we've got another segment coming up right after this break. A conspiracy theory I fully admit it. I have no evidence of this except what may be going on around us and some thoughts that I have from the Golden Age of talk, radio in the nineties I sometimes get what I refer to as nuggets of Universal Truth from what most people would consider fairly odd sources. You know movies, songs, sports, overhearing pieces of a conversation, etc one of the things that was kind of profound to me and rain true didn't I didn't really understand the time was the movie captain America the Winter Soldier. Now there's a scene again. Tomorrow will because they're fantastic and I'm going to kind of summarize here there's a scene where they're in a bucket in they're talking to basically an all German scientists. Brain is good put on on a computer and all creepy but isn't that scene they talk about humanity's freedom came. and. One of the things that they said was if you try to take that freedom, they resist humanity needed to surrender. It's freedom willingly. And they finally created a world. So chaotic that you vanity was ready to surrender it's freedom for its own security. Now I know that sounds bizarre and maybe I'm maybe I'm just being paranoid maybe I'm suffering from the Kobe. Kobe lockdown paranoia or whatever you want to call it. The understand this if you wanted to usher in a gestapo-type National Police Force. It had no loyalty to the constitution but only the politicians you know Kinda like Nazi Germany. What would you do? Well. First of all, you'd have to get the police to quit. So if you control the purse strings for the police, department what better way to get them to quit than it, cut their wages, cut their budget and then make them liable for I. Don't know everything. What if he told them to stand down while like Portland Eighty. Three nights of rioting destroys property assaulting assaulting citizens decade the police to quit what about like new? York. They cut the budget of Major Crimes Unit and shootings have gone up. To three hundred percent. Since that happened now, I wanNA make it clear that I do not support a national police force now. Yes we can argue that yes, we have we have federal agents the DA's the ATF the FBI etc. But none of them are actively patrolling the streets but how do you do it? How do you implement a Gestapo of social justice warriors that are essentially thought police, which is what the what's the leftist seem to want anyone that that goes contrary to their narrative anyone that disagrees with any they say politically. Well if you get all the local cops to quit, you have to have something because your citizens will not bag. For protection somebody did is friendly to that idea wins the White House than the Federal Police Force. Is created and then we end up like Nazi Germany. They're already talking about making kids where buttons identified that they either have or have not been vaccinated for Covid. Nineteen. One. Just go out and do yellow stars. Pink triangles. Any sense does you have to question yourself and even do the mental exercise of what's the end game now? This Shit I. GotTa Tell Ya None of it looks good. "With Dan Rae easy, ten thirty. Okay. So David Ortiz on the road to recovery here in Boston. A very serious shooting could have been killed could've been paralyzed serious stuff here. We're not talking about dust up in our room five we're talking about. Well, I think the most well-known man man in the island of the Dominican Republic today, the just a couple of hours ago. The DR lead prosecutor said that David Ortiz quoting now, I'm going to quote liberally from a an Associated Press article was not the target of the shooting in the nightclub in his home. Tell in his hometown, the Attorney General John Alena, Rodriguez said the target was another man dressed similarly toward tease who seated with the retired baseball star in the night of June ninth on the June nine shoe. Shooting in the capital of Santa Domingo. Rodriguez said the shooting was orchestrated by member of Mexico's Gulf cartel who remains on the run. He did not immediately describe a motive as he mentioned Ortiz remains in the hospital, but it's condition upgraded from Dr too good. So at the time of the attack, or teases, sitting with a TV personality Joel Lopez. And the apparent talking to be named David Fernandez, we don't know anything about David Fernandes, the shooting carried out by two men on a motorcycle. We'll follow by several suspects into costs. It was not subtle in all eleven suspects have been arrested including the alleged shooter identified as Ralph e Ferrara, aka sandy, a skinny tattooed. Twenty five year old whom US prosecute is hit his wanted an on robbery and gun charges in New Jersey. Rodriguez. That's the attorney general said the shooting was August rated by a man named Victor Hugo Gomez, whom he described as a member or associate of the Gulf cartel. One of Mexico's major drug, trafficking organizations. Officials did not say why Gomez would have targeted for an so again, no motive Gomez is believed to be in the United States was being sought by the DA bet Betty is said, Major, General Nate Aldrin, Batista Almonte director of the Dominican Republic national police. The suss the weapon is a Browning high power semi automatic pistol. Some of you out there. Probably more familiar with that weapon than I am. It sounds to me like it can do. The job was buried in the garden of one of the suspects home, and was later turned over to police by his mother, according to court documents obtained by the Associated Press. And again, I'm relieving reading from AP's. His were gets a little goofy and a little, you know if you can say funny, I really don't wanna say funny, but just listen to this list of characters. Levin, people, the other suspects include a, Joel Rodriguez Delacruz, aka squeaky. Renaldo Rodriguez Valenzuela, aka, the chinaman Franklin junior, Marin, aka rubel, Rozo pheno. I n d they Sean Vasquez, aka kid Eddy. Vladimir Felix Felise gussied, aka the package who was the motorcycle he alleged motorcycle driver. He was the guy that gets beaten up by the crowd when he skidded on his motorcycle. Pretty slick operation. Now, another suspect was dented as all of moise's mid about Ocasa, aka poppy no relation to big Papi. This is just poppy whose father accused him of being in a gang of hit men in low level drug dealers. He is accused of driving one of the cars used to stock Ortiz before he was shot. I mean this video this picture, they got pictures, they got cars and they shoot the wrong guy also accused is Gabriel Alexander Perez. These guy Ono these guy know all these last names sound to me, like Merican league baseball players, aka bone, whom they say, was hired by someone who's in prison on unrelated charges to be the liaison between the hitman and the person who paid them. Authorities say the pres- shared a picture of the target. For nana's not, not as he met the other suspects at a nearby gestation just minutes before the shooting sound like had eleven person huddle on the sidelines. Got the picture who is it? David teases pretty well known in the Dominican Republic. Believe me. Although they have not specified, who is depicted in the picture. They said, Peres than sold. The cellphone used to plan the attack in distributed picture the target to a woman for hundred eighty bucks so he can rid of the evidence a day after the shooting. Police is still looking for at least three other suspects woman note as the Venezuelan or read. Louis L frito, revise class-a aka the surgeon, who's wanted for twenty eighteen shooting in reading, Pennsylvania. The surgeons been in our neck of the woods, and he's believed to be driving. The other used to stock Ortiz. And L Burto Miguel Rodriguez Motta. I don't think this guy's got an AA. He doesn't have a nickname, who with authorities believe paid the hitmen authority said the coordinator of the TAC was offered four hundred thousand Dominican pesos. It's about seventy eight hundred dollars a money. So if you divide eleven people into seventy eight hundred dollars this not a lot of money to go around for this. Well thought out. Assassination attempt which the. Maybe thirty general of the Dominican Republic tells us Ortiz was not the intended target. Okay. Now I know the story is just breaking. No. You just probably heard about it. But I've read to you. From an Associated Press piece no hometown bias there, nothing. I want to know from you, do you believe the thirty general of the Dominican Republic? Number one. Number two. Does this make you more or less likely perhaps, to put the Dominican Republic on your next list of plans for the creation or on your bucket list? Or if you have had the Dominican Republic on your bucket list, is it now off your bucket list. I really don't wanna get into rumors and speculation which out there. We're not interested into that questions. Pretty simple. Do you believe the Dominican Republic authorities in the person of the Torney, general that Ortiz, probably the most recognized guy on the entire island, which will actually this two countries on the on the island of Hispano Hispaniola, the most recognized not only because of who he is what he's accomplished but his size? His size alone. That this guy somehow shot the wrong guy. I find it very difficult to believe. I don't know what really happened. I don't want to speculate on what really happened, but at liked to hear from, you six one seven two five four ten thirty triple eight nine to nine ten thirty. Now, maybe I have become too cynical in maybe I should accept the story, as it is presented has been presented a couple of hours ago by the the DR with authorities in the Dominican. Helped me out. Let me know. And also this combined with the stories of people just dropping dead in hotel rooms. Why would anyone want to go to the Dominican Republic? I have a good friend of mine who I spoke with earlier today. She and her husband were heading to the Dominican Republic on may sixth turned out, she developed a medical emergency which kept him in Boston. In the medical emergencies not life threatening or anything, but I said to her when I talked on the phone tonight. You really lucky that you had that medical emergency on may sixth because if not, you could have been to the Dominican Republic six one seven two five four ten thirty triple eight nine two nine ten thirty I'm a skeptic. Maybe so I'd love to know if you agree or disagree. If you believe the attorney general of the, Dominican Republic, I know many of you don't believe the attorney general of the United States. That's not who we're talking about. We're talking about John, Elaine Rodriguez. The attorney general of the Dominican Republic phone calls right after this. Nightside with Dan Rae. "Predictive? Policing has always been a part. Of the national defense. Authorization act, the NBA, I remember that predictive policing and prolonged detention with something the Barack Obama support signing the law, especially when it comes to combatants, or enemy combatants, or whatever the state decides whatever the bad guy is basically could be targeted profiled and put in jail. Last summer, the taps act was introduced taps act is the threat assessment prevention and safety. I would make actually take law enforcement screenings to a whole new level. It would create a national threat assessment database of children and adults your kids, and you would be thrown into a database to analyze whether or not you're a threat. Now in the course of six months, the threat assessment prevention safety act, which is HR three eight has seen support grow to nearly eighty congressman, and it was reintroduced during the national during the national police week. Now they had a, a US capitol building meeting on. In Washington DC for US national police week and number of senators got together, and congressman and said, how much support this idea of encouraging law enforcement to give everyone a personal threat assessment children. Adults singling out those that they think are future threats now taps act has all the ear marks of paranoid. Police state situation and what this does is it creates a joint the idea of creating a joint behavioral threat assessment and management task force and what these guys would be. Able to do they would be able to identify individuals in database that exhibit patterns of dangerous behavior that made proceed, an actor targeted violence, meaning that they could probably go in for a pre crime, or at least the idea of a person who may have the potential to commit a crime and make this stick now according to. A few people this is an indication that we are crossing over to what China and Switzerland and doing now with their they call the Social Credit system. But it it's a lot worse than that. I mean when you're analyzing children, adults potential threats takes scapegoating mental mental illness. It takes a different level surveillance level, and it will permeate every aspect of our lives. And it seems that whatever we have whatever we have these spiking events going on Virginia Beach is always heightened awareness takes over. We start hearing about gun control gunman's political leanings. What is religion might be whether or not he was liberal or conservative or we start hearing about his medical records? If there's any indication that he had any time was diagnosed with a mental illness is unjustified, extrajudicial execution takes place. And after shootings, the political agreements are over gun rights, gun control. Roll. There's never an argument over whether or not there should be a case for control over how guns are used or replacement for due process. The truth is you can't second guess a police officer in the line of fire, but it seems to be this immediate response to kill a suspect rather than bringing him or her to trial. And then even before you have a chance to assess whether or not they were triggered by something else, you have the insidious plan of eliminated due process, even further by saying, well, this person had that problem is present this problem, we start opening up their medical records to become part of, of the news media cycle. Now, this is something that as bothered be way beyond the point where I remember back. What was I was two or three years ago? There was something called project safe campus is another idea that I think is hideous. It was a program where they were offering students in cash rewards. They would pay students one hundred dollars to spy on fellow classmates. Now the goal project, say campus was to increase the number of anonymous tips coming into the schools students who gave tips the result of this reaction would be rewarded one hundred dollars two hundred dollars and tips could include anything about weapons drugs thefts bullying, vandalism arson fighting anything even about potential suicides K so crime stoppers in several states. We're actually starting up the program and the truth is this program provided incentives to schools and universities to spy on students, and what was interesting. The schools and campuses would receive three thousand dollars for every action tip. The department of homeland security and the police receive. So the department of homeland security student would be actually students spying program student, involved, would basically tune in actually turn in a few names, and then they would would they reap the benefits and what was interesting interest. What was interesting, the dangerous program here with being implemented in schools and universities that had budgetary problems and the students were low income coming for low income families, so what it was doing was creating low income, and low income families to actually. Give tips to police officers to make extra money. So it's not too far of a stretch to assume that I'm employed or poor students. They're eager to make some quick cash had an incentive to turn in their friends and family fast. Fifty or more. And so this is all part of the program of creating a database, and it's also part of the program to create a pipeline from from schools to juvie jail, which is another problem. We have right now in our schools, because they're already assuming students have psychological problems or psychological problems at home. And there's never due process here, always a program of yours suspected, therefore, you have to prove that it's not the case, and so social services department of home services gets involved, and it gets even uglier because then kids are taken away from their parents. Because the parents don't seem to be measuring up to what they feel, what the state feels is adequate care for the kids. So it's really in fact, you're in Oregon. They are they now are passed a law where newborns families of newborns will be inspected by Saint people like once a month or until the baby is grown to a certain age. And it'll stop visiting them social workers will show up. To find out what's going on with the families, which, again is another form of spying. So I mean this is this is something I think I think needs to be evaluated. And I think it's hideous that this is what we're doing now. This is part of the social control system that we've seen in China and Switzerland other places go to Bill in Florida. Hi, bill. You're on ground zero. Bill. Hello. You're on ground zero. Go ahead. Hello. Hi you're on the air. Go ahead. Quieted real honor to talk with you a big fan of your show. Tonight as many nights, which are talking about is very compelling. It's spurred multitude of thoughts from me. I'm a board certified psychiatrist of about thirty five years. Still back to. And yeah, I agree with you, wholeheartedly. Tap sack is horrible idea. And there's so much potential for abuse, and using psychiatrists and other mental health people as basically a political weapon. One thought that occurred to me is I've given some talks into passed on mental illness, two different groups, and I make the point that although progress has been made the terminal illness is still very loaded term. And I make the point that just like his illness, mental illness covers a broad spectrum from what say having a cold to having. Metastatic cancer. Right. And there's that same spectrum with mental illness. But people often don't appreciate that. They don't they don't understand it. It's a mystery to them back to a lot of psychiatrists psychologists history as well. And since we don't have anything definitive, people obviously, draw conclusions, and like you say put everything under an umbrella. There are different types of mental illness, and the idea that most people who are mentally ill are violent is also a myth. Many of them don't even want to get near others because they know that they're mentally ill. Well I was trained. Based on some studies that demonstrated for example. Schizophrenics. Have a lower the navarine rate of crime and are more commonly victims of crime. Right. Exactly. And..

With the mayor of Phoenix KTAR is Ali vetnar went in depth on the shortage within the state's largest police department in what she's doing to address it right now in budget season. And we have a city budget that when could hiring three hundred new police officers year to date, the Phoenix police department currently has three hundred fifteen fewer officers than ten years ago may your cake geigo hopes to fix that. She's working with the police chief in the city council to improve public safety in one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. Anything we can do to be better partner for officers and be a force more proprietor, whether it's investing in technology or just getting more officers trained in on the streets is really important geigo says they're working to better equip them to solve crimes just signed some paperwork for us to get technology to allow us to locate shots that were fired plus today, the city council's voting on new DNA testing technology, which we actually learned about. Out through the hacienda healthcare situation where we needed to test DNA for more than one hundred employees to find out who was the father of a baby of a rape victim. A recent study ranked Irizawa one of the worst states to be a police officer mayor geigo is committed to change that city Phoenix has launched a task force to look at officer retention. So how do we make sure that police officers who have experience in training want to stay on the job, and that will be really important as well. We want our experienced officers to continue to be interested in serving. She says almost every month going forward for the rest of the year..

"Have FBI agents that have succumbed to injuries and illnesses that they received earning nine eleven. So it's a wide populous people that are being honored. Well, and very well deserved. Given the fact that once you show up for duty you are on duty. I guess, but once you leave your house, you're on duty. Correct. You're never really off duty. I've been involved in several cases in law enforcement officers on my way to work on my way, home in just everywhere you'd be surprised that can be shopping. With my wife, and I've had to take law enforcement action. She wasn't very happy about that. And especially the one time when that I had to take some action when I have my daughter, and she informed me that I was not being a good father at the time. I tried to tell her I was being protector. This is Danny Gillerman frontlines of freedom. And we're discussing national police week with Lou cannon, you know, my grandfather. My father's father was a police officer in Oakland, California about one hundred years ago, he was on his way home from work taking a bus home. He saw a woman driver with their car on the side of the road. He went to help her and some drunk ran him over and killed him. And he was on his way home. So it never stops. Does it doesn't. I mean. In a lot of these are actions were officers. Loser lives, they're engaging in helping the public there to serve in potato as the slogan goes. But I mean, they're doing what we all love to do. The public is the rest of our family. We're here to. Protectors and take care of them. Keep them for evil to make sure no harm comes to them, regardless of whether we're working getting paid for it. Boy there were on volunteering and not getting paid for it. Yes, sir. And the world is getting to be more dangerous and not less dangerous place. So our need for police officers is greater now than it's been one of the things that bothers me, and I'm sure it bothers you is in at least parts of our country. There is less respect for police officers than there was when I was growing up today is a different world. Take him look at how many actions have been stopped at the malls by off duty officers who were there, and there's numbers cases of officer stopping active shooters before more harm to come to the public. They're they're they risk their lives. They risk the lives of their families. When they take these actions to you know, we have specialized training now for off-duty counters. We're not gonna stop just because we're all city or we have our families will make sure that. Our families are protected before we take the action, but we're gonna make sure is few people if any have to pay any type of price for the actions of those evil ones that are out there that are bent undetermined to harm people. We're there to prevent that. Final question may fifteenth is national police officers Memorial Day, and it's the week that that Memorial Day falls in national police week what specifically will be happening on the fifteenth. Fifteen all the survivors occurring twenty plus previous Veivers will assemble on the west front of the capitol. You'll be there to have tributes paid to their loved ones who have given the second place. The new survivor 's will be meeting with the old survivors, this is their indoctrination into a club that they didn't ask to join didn't want to join but they're forced to join. Learn from the other survivors had a get through this. They'll be able to recognize and hopefully have some closure to why their loved ones. Whether it's a father mother, husband, wife, whatever that was loss performing their duties protecting the public. This is their goodbye to them. This is hopefully the one thing that can give them the closure. And give them the strength in the knowledge to go on and go for and continue to honor them not in their death. But in their life, and so that they can continue their lives knowing that they will never walk alone. We will always be with. Thank you, Lou. Folks were now going to be talking some fine members of the police officer community, Lou thank you for helping me. Find some great folks interview today you played a big role in that. And thank you for the way, you continue to serve our nation. I'm proud to call you friend. Thank you for raising the awareness of this event is all about it's about the men and women alone forcement and what they do. Amen, sir. It is okay. Straight ahead on frontlines of freedom. We're gonna meet former police chief Theresa chambers and discussed dealing with the death of one of your officers. Then we're going to be the president of the national fraternal order of police. That's the families of police officers than to Heine and more. All this is coming up. I've Colonel Denny Gillam. You're standing tall with frontlines of freedom. I'll be right back troops. "This iheartmedia radio station. I'm your host Lee Matthews and in this program. We try to get into the issues that are affecting the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. One of those issues is the protection of our police departments. David Dickinson is an officer with the more police department who's joining us now and officer Dickinson, tell us about national police week, which is coming up Willie national police week is just the week that officers across the United States take time out to recognize the fallen officers, and we actually tried to include the community in our week of events. So much is done to for the fallen officers and police are here for us when we need them. But the police also see people when they're at their worst most of the time. Yeah. So national police week. Let's let's let's first of all set up what national police week is. And then how it's going to be celebrated down with more police department. Our vents are going to start have actually a couple of days early this year, and that was just more of a timing issue. But we're going to do what we call the police unity ride, and we're gonna ride from the more police department to the Oklahoma law enforcement officers memorial to appoint all right last year was our largest one or we had fifty five officers from eleven different police departments within the state and general purpose purposes to raise awareness of police week and officers and enter as funds for the memorial. There are six hundred eleven names on the police memorial in Oklahoma City, fifty one of those and just last year. But I think I put something I know so we're going to they generally at name to the memorial every year. That's kind of really what we focus on and recognize them. Yeah. And so the ride is going to tell us about the right? Is that a motorcycle road? Good question. Yes. No their bicycles dot com. Some different police farms have different types of bicycle. So we just we just say, hey, it's a first responder type event. So police officers will will bring whatever they want. We've had the the high end St. street racers to like what my partner, and I ride which is more of a I don't want wanna say mountain bikers full-service bike or coming out kind of in between. Yeah. Do the officers preferred to ride those really like having an opportunity to get out there on the bikes. Oh, they like out on their bikes. It takes one pedal for them in twenty four us ride. So it's but as Islam fund, there's just a lot of variety in last year, we included shirts to kind of mimic, the national rights shirts. Yeah. Yeah. They do that every year in DC as part of a big service when we're talking about national police week, and it's been designated around the fifteenth as peace officers Memorial Day that whole week. It's going to be memorialized by the good folks down at at at more memorial more police station and officer David Dickinson is with us some of the other things along with the ride gonna take place to commemorate national police week and during that week police officers more also were morning badge. Covers to recognize remember the authors, and we we generally tie blue ribbons around our antennas to. So if you see those it's kind of tribute to the fallen officers, and we have a lot of good community partners in the city, and they're doing some things that we are going to bring us food and some other things as well. And then on the fourteenth, we're doing our our big thing the chili cook off, and as I talked about we have know celebrity judges coming in and some local folks coming local. Judges. And we try to just you know, all all funds go to the memorials. Well, the items that we use their donated the chili the all the accessories are all donated. So it's everything goes to them. And where will this be the chili cook off is going to be on the fourteenth of may from eleven AM to one PM at the station central park. It's our new aquatic center in the city, something we're really proud of and general public can come and taste. Absolutely. Yes, sir. Everybody's welcome to come. And I imagine a contribution will get you a bowl, and then you can go around and sample. Yes, we're we're I guess we we haven't settled on some of the final details, but that will all be posted here soon. Okay. And it's all to raise money to for the funds for the memorial for Oklahoma and offices memorial service. Yes, they're all that goes directly to we're talking to our good friend, David Dickinson. He's with more police department as we celebrate national police week here on NewsRadio one thousand KT. Okay. And if if tells more about the bike ride the bike ride that's gonna take place. These only officers. Generally, speaking. Yes. And I say that because we do we have a medic ride with us. Okay. And we've had a few believe a dispatcher we've had but say anybody in the in the law enforcement community is really is our target. I mean, we have some probation parole. Officers come up some department corrections folks right with a lot of police officers. You know, some of the bigger departments show up. You know, it's it's quite a sight last year was amazing. So just about everybody had the blue shirt on. And you know, we had motor officers from all over the the area escort as well. So it's just really a great. It's just more police department that take place. Yes. Originally started out. I think my partner Becky a believe we were the first ones we wrote. I think it was just a couple of the first year. And then I think we went to like I'm looking at my notes here. But I think we have like we went from two to four to ten to fifty five in that range. So it's it's really grown. So it's it's not just a more police department ride. We were saying it's a it's a state police. Officer a ride and everybody every police auction estate. Is welcome come right with us national police week. It's the unity bike to or coming up Friday the tenth it'll start at eight thirty and you start at more, but make your way up to the to the moral. Yes, sir. Yeah. Now here in Oklahoma City. Yeah. So if you see a bunch of bicycles on a bunch of police along the main route that is the route is does it come straight up straight up thirty five or is it going off roads, we leave the more police department, and we go east we go. We have some railroad tracks right there, we go over that. And we go to eastern which is one of our main north and south as we make a left, and then it comes right up your point five miles gyms right up here. So if you see on eastern a bunch of a bunch of bicycles on that Friday. That's that's what that's all too. All proceeds donated go to Oklahoma law enforcement official officers memorial anything that I left out that you wanna talk about as far as national police week is concerned. The other thing we like to bring up his on the fifteenth from five to seven PM, we're going to have an open house at the police department, and we're we're going to have a couple of scheduled tours. And we're going to have some our community partners put on a big event with us. It's gonna be in the parking lot of interest Bank. Which is really just you know, we're out across the street from us. John Arlen is going to be there. Mcdonald's can be there. And we're working on a couple of other little details. But it's going to be just a, hey, everybody come out and see us meet us kind of deal and to find out more about national police week or if you wanna make a contribution to the unity bike run. I can always check our Facebook.

But I noticed lettuce on my your in this Thrusday extorts Yanni's, a Reno says one of the places with the highest number of kidnappings extortions and murder. She says migrants are a big target to those criminals Jose guard Logano the migrant from Honduras who stuck in Reno Sopher. Now says he doesn't think President Trump's wall will keep migrants out of the US. He says people crave a safe place to live. Anthony, you can build a wall thirty feet high with a line of snakes below it. The people's needs are much greater he says, they'll get around it. Carrie Kahn, NPR news, right Nossa, Mexico. Back on the US side of the board of the presidency's mcallen, Texas as the heart of what he calls a humanitarian crisis. We have people that have been so horribly hurt families that have been so horribly hurt by people that just come in like, it's like just come into the United States, do whatever they want medications, they leave, and then they'll come back, or in many cases, they stay when I visited McCallum last August, I met an immigration lawyer named Carlos Garcia. He's lived in the city all his life and with the president's visit today, we decided to check back in with him. Hi, Carlos how are you doing? All right. So when you hear the president described crisis does that match with what you see in your hometown, not at all. It's very disheartening to listen to him. Use the words that he uses to describe the place that I grew up in and that I love because it's very piece for quite calm. And this is a place where where we help each other out in everything. And so listening to him. It's just very offensive at times. There are also people in mcallen who support the president. And he had fans they're cheering him on today. How much would you say your view is reflective of the city is a whole. Yeah. There's no doubt that there was a large number of Trump's supporters there today, but it's evident in the voting results in our county. What people think a lot of people do believe that this wall is unnecessary. But there are others who don't agree with us. And so that's the complex part of living in south, Texas that we have all of these different views, but we still respect each other. The mayor of macallan says crime rates have gone down in the city. I went on a ride along with customs and border protection. When I was there. And even though there were sections of wall. There were also plenty of people trying to cross the border. So it does seem that there is some issue that needs to be addressed. Now, there's definitely an immigration issue. That does need to be addressed. At our highest level of politics. There's no doubt that people are coming into the country unlawfully, but the rhetoric he uses to argue for building a law is that criminals are coming in. And that the wall is going to stop that the reality is that those really bad drugs that are coming in. The majority of them are coming in through the ports of entry. I know you were in immigration court this morning. We've heard a lot about the backlogs in those courts. Tell us about your experience. So I went to immigration court in and it was dead. The reason I went was to review some files that because there are some downtime right now. Because all of our non detained docket has been cancelled. And really it's a skeleton crew worked the government shutdown. That's correct. So in addition to the debate over the situation on the border, the government shutdown is affecting the people you work with what impact is that having on your clients. Well, I it's just a lot of confusion. Also, for instance, final hearing that I had scheduled for a couple of days ago, there's uncertainty as to win that case will be rescheduled that case has already been pending for about four years. So it may be another year or two down the line before that gets hurt for the final time. What's it been like today to have the president visit your hometown and describe it in a way that doesn't match your experience of the city you live in? Well, I it's it's mixed feelings because I went to the protests that were occurring when the president was landing here in mcallen, and it was very emotional. I was very proud of the community who was out there to have their voices heard in opposition to not only the wall. But some of the rhetoric of the president uses, but it's also disappointing. If the president doesn't really come and talk to the people who are impacted who live in this community, and who really live this life every day. Whether you're a government official or an undocumented immigrant or just a regular person living here, and how we live in harmony and peace here on.
