Football without fans is weird
"It'll be up to players to bring the excitement that fans would normally provide. But last week showed it won't be easy. The universal opinion after the Minnesota game I can't use the word weird because even Aaron Rodgers, telling the story of having played a game in Sacramento in high school. That was without fans. It's just not the same for an NFL
NFL Injury Report: Week 2
"Receiver Chris Godwin isn't concussion protocol. George Kittle has been rolled out. George Kendall. Hi. Did you see his need bent in a really strange when he came back and finished that game in that loss against the Cardinals? He was just ruled out, so I don't think it's on your hot list. Okay. What else do we see Anything else of note? I saw it last night, The Bangles tied and CJ Zuma. Zuma has a torch Achilles. He's out for the season cold. Starting, Jack Doyle is out against the Vikings. Jamison Crowder for the Jets is out against the 40 Niners. As you mentioned Adam, the Lions have ruled out Kenny Golladay. Cornerback Desmond Trufant and guard Joe Doll. Free money Packers No tackle Kenny Clark is out for lions. I got to tell you, I think that the injury reports are lighter than I thought they'd be after one week, especially with no training camp, but
Literal Jock Sniffer - Season 3, Episode 4 - burst 1
"Question. How did he do? Okay. So here's the thing about Joe Brown. This is why I think you like him so much. Oh, it's a really great quarterback that just plays hockey team. So he's like your deck Prescott your a bitch. I thought you were like the light bulb in my head went off last night when I was watching it. I was like, well, he's a good little quarterback like Dak Prescott. He just plays for no wonder Jasmine likes them so much. By the way, I have you know you Optimus Prime Don the word shity so it cut out on you said shity team. That's all right. I show you going to say that we were going to like look we could be an item now. I'm just disappointed. Oh, I'm sorry. Now he's to you guys wouldn't match very well. He's back to blonde hair doughy eyed, you know, he still has his dreams and happiness. I was just that his way too innocent for you. You know, you just strip him of all of it off. I would fare. I tend to do this with all men though. Let's be real I tend to slowly take away their hopes dreams, you know their desk for Life their happiness any kind of happiness life. It's it's what I do to all the men that are in my life. Okay, so so that's your analysis which fuck off so that's no that's my analysis regards to jobber. Okay, my analysis in regards to the Browns. All right. Here's the thing about the Browns obj less. Always he had headlines Amy. Okay. This team has a boss ass offense page. There is no reason why they shouldn't be scoring touchdowns all the fucking time. I mean think about the players that they have Nick Chubb Fremont who both went off last night Jarvis Landry. I mean you couldn't get you can get that is a fantasy leagues dream right here, right? Yep. There is no reason why this team shouldn't be amazing because you know what their defense is really cool. Good to this team should be really competitive and making the playoffs and they're not understand now Grandma, who knows what's going to happen tell you what happened last night watching this game Baker Mayfield just he changed into a different person. Like when he like a human in a good way in a good way when he came off the field. He didn't go and sit down on the bench. He stood on the sidelines and watched his defense playing and then he I mean he rallied those guys. He was not going down to Joe burrow. I mean, you could totally he's like, there's no fucking way. This guy's going to show me up and there's no way I'm losing to the fucking bangles and you know what he totally carried his team. He really truly did stepped up it was offensive. Now if they can do that every single weekend this team is really like it has all the weapons that it takes to be a fantastic team which made me. Made me Ponder the fact that there's some teams that you just expect to lose and then there's some teams that you expect to win like the team's you expect to when you expect the steel real attacks right now. You expect the Cal you expect to win. You don't expect the Lions or the Bangles or the Browns. I mean the low-hanging fruit, you know, you don't expect those teams to win. So when they have when they have rosters long, the Browns have their own turning into a team that you they should be winning with what they have. So it sounds to me that the Browns are basically like if you're looking at it from a fantasy league point, it's the guy in league who basically cheese his way to get the best team because everybody else is internet either sucked or they were on auto draft or they forgot there was a draft right? That's the guy in the if you're equating it to a fantasy team roster birth. Okay. Number one. I liked it. You know I prematurely said shut up about the Cowboys cuz I thought you were going to say that you expect them to lose and I like that you're saying that you expect them to win because that's what you do you absolutely suck. Oh you that's what we do problem. That's where we are a we are an elite Lord team. Anyway, that's what you're going with I am. Well, I don't know the baker Mayfield is still a shitstain to me so good for him rallying his team. He's still a shitstain. I do love his Progressive commercials their home like the latest one. Yes. They are the latest one where he's like. Oh, it's getting ready to rain. Help me cover the furniture. And two guys like you mean the stance he's really good in those commercials. If you could only be as good a quarter as he is in those commercials. We would be set the dog pound would be set. Well, we are you a dog pound or now. I mean, I you know, I have a soft spot for the Browns just cuz they always lose. And ever since that movie came out draft day with Kevin Costner yet. Oh, I'm out. I'm done with you. done with you Amy. Your brown spot is showing. I know I know you know, I just I'm weird that way I don't understand it. Either it is I don't either try to figure you out every day and I just you know, I do too and since I'm like, oh I get myself today and then sometimes I'm like now he's nope don't understand myself today, but that's okay. That's most of us as well. Amy. So rest assured you're not in Company by yourself. I think it is twenty-twenty it is. Okay. Well that's sad because now Joe burrow Hollow be his name Falls 200 and two. Yeah, it does and but you know what this guy he's he's a good quarterback. He is is there he should be in his helmet I think time to get mr. Guys. Sometimes he tries to carry his offense which isn't great because then he gets pummeled by pencil like he got pummeled last night several times. Well, you sure. Why does LSU brain sure what he's trying to win? And I totally get it. But at the same time he needs careful because you know, oh, he's a starting quarterback in the NFL. Well getting them know and you just see a lot of what he was doing at LSU that worked and I think you know like every rookie has this learning curve right where you come out transition from college to the big leagues and it's like, oh, okay, it's funny cuz I was like really different style of football right? I said to Bruce last night. I'm like, surprised that they just threw this guy in the deep end. I mean they just started. Oh totally, I mean, they didn't granted he dangles. What else do they have? I'm. That's the problem. They don't have anything else but you know like places in my where to get backing up Fitzpatrick that makes sense. It makes sense for him to kind of, you know way into the NFL same thing with Dwayne Haskins, you know, he he was back up for a while until he kind of learned his name. Yeah, now Joe girl, man. They just threw him in the deep and they're like here you go, bro, you go bu. Yeah. Well, you know what gotta he is trying I mean, he's playing his ass off out there. No he is but he is and that's why I'm like super team Joe burrow like we gotta do this man. Like I'm telling you. It's the stogie. We'll do it get this guy that mean that you're a Bengals fan know how fucking no. No, I like. Oh bji in a Browns fan. I like Joe burrow Ina Bengals fan, you know, I will always bleed silver and blue Amy. That's the only color I would leave home. Anyway, let's move on to the Chiefs. Okay, love us and Pat Mahomes you love some Andy Reid do that cheaper mofo back, right? So Andy Reid's big old windshield mask that he had on. When was it last week? I can't remember. Yeah. We're only in week to segregated windshield wipers. Yeah, so people were like what the hell and so like it was fogging up. You couldn't see shit, but this may be a thing. This may be a thing coming to a coach near you because off on the first Sunday of the NFL season when this happened several coaches were seen either one not wearing masks or to not wearing them properly because the mask police were out and the league is not going to stand for that. It's currently vice president of football operations. Troy Vincent issued a memo this week saying protocol requires all individuals with bench area access including coaches and members of the club medical staff to wear face coverings at all times failure to adhere this requirement will result in accountability measures being imposed against offending individuals and or clubs. However, Amy, there is no word on what those accountability measures will be so that to me that phrase is what kind of sticks out to me. What does that mean? do you do find them? Probably I mean you can look dead. Here's the thing. They're coaching on the sidelines of talking into Mike's they have to be able bird they have to be able understood. It's really hard for all of the to happen on your face plus all these guys are around each other all the time. They're all you know, I practiced together around the field. They're hitting each other all in each other's faces, you know, I mean and how many people have tested positive since the start of season one? Yeah. They did a very good 2700 players so very good job with with that right off because like you said, they've been implementing measures. They've been following the rules, you know, they've been testing a lot, you know, we got into this, you know leading into this actual season. Jeez, how many coronavirus updates that we talked about on this podcast about hey, this is what the League's doing. This is what they're making them do kind of thing. So something is clearly working. It's really great to see that that's positive news that you know that they're only seeing that wage. Chat, I think I that they should I really think they should go with a handy read mask to be quite honest can still see the coaches face. The microphone can kind of be up underneath it. So they may be able to understand what the coaches saying and and you're shielded. You know, when somebody comes up to your face, you know, I mean, think that that's fine but having to wear them like when it's just, you know covering your face in your nose again, like it's hard for me to understand people when they're wearing a mask and talking to me. Yes, I mean, so imagine imagine being on the field the quarterback coaches saying the guys in booth coordinators up in the booth are trying to understand what the guys on the field coordinators on the field are trying to say, I mean, it's just it's a it's crazy. So it's a shitshow you gotta be able to walk. You gotta be able to your job. I would take that looking like I've got the windshield of a Camry in front of my face the whole time vs Lee having something on my mouth cuz that's frustrating me. Yeah. Give me the telephone number. Windshield all day long over the you know, suffocating face masks which by the way speaking of Tesla. Did you see that their reports of some them being janky like getting like parts that were like really cheap shity on some of the Tesla's that were falling apart marvelous. I know so yet twenty-twenty doesn't happen. Just wanted to put that in there for you. All right coming up next in offsides, you know fall like we said is upon us. Although you wouldn't know here in Texas. It's still like an anus outside but here's something for your home that will make it fall feel less anus e okay Mom handles some new ones that are coming out and they're actually already out and we'll explain to you with those candles our next. All right, let's get into offsides and we've got some candles to tell you about so Amy, yeah, you know football's back. So if you want to get a little piece so that game day experience at home along with fall. This might work. Okay. I know you love candles. There's a company that's owned by Anheuser-Busch call Babe wine. They just created three football scented candles one smells like an artificial turf field. Okay one smells like a Nachos not bad and one

Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy: "We're closer than you may think we are."
"Let's go to Dallas, his head coach Mike McCarthy. He made some bad decisions in Game one up against the Rams, not kicking the field goal early in the fourth late in the game, his team taking his time. When there should have been more urgency. Here's Mike McCarthy saying that analytics because now Mike McCarthy's Mr Analytics indicate the Cowboys there on the right track overall, you know, just to give it our all of our football team. Frankly, we looked like a football team that played his first game in some areas and another is I thought we don't have a lot of really good things. So we have a grating index that we put a lot of time into. And So we're closer than you may think we are.
Malik Jackson: Washington Did Not Want to Kneel With Philadelphia Eagles
"Millie Jackson reveal what the team was hoping to do for Social justice demonstration before their game last week. It's called abuse. Dave You ran this past Sunday, the Eagles in the Washington football team locked arms in midfield during the plain of lift every voice and sing. Then the birds went inside for the national anthem. Malik Jackson said yesterday. The Eagles would have liked to take a knee along with Washington right before kickoff. But he said Washington wasn't on board. Both teams take a knee and then declined the penalty and kick the ball off. But Heart logistically, Jackson said he would like to do something tangible making really statements not not holding arms. During his zoom press conference, Jackson was worrying a red hat that said, Make America arrest. The cops who killed Briana Taylor with great again crossed off, Jackson said. It was good. The city of Louisville pay Taylor's family $12 million, but added and change the culture of citizens paying tax dollars toe. Fun what the police are doing out here. So if we could get the police unions that are back on these guys to do stuff, you know, have them start paying like we have to pay out our money and we have contact at two minutes or anything will be a lot better example. Dave, you ran K Y.

That would be the second home game of the schedule. The Texans are already committed to play in their home opener against the Baltimore Ravens without anyone in the stands this Sunday.
Cincinnati Bengals president Brown won't attend game in Cleveland
"Dot com that for the first time since 1991, he will not watch his team play in person tonight. Covert concerns keeping Brown in Cincinnati while the team travels to Cleveland man who has traveled the world with his team, says that 85 years old, he's told that It would be foolish for him to make the trip, he told Jeff Hops in the Bengals dot com senior writer that he's at the age where you have to go about life a little differently. Only Bengals game Mike Brown is missing and the clubs 51 year history was a preseason game in 1991. And that night he was at the side of his dying father, Paul Brown, the founder of the club. Now
Big Ten Football Will Begin in 2020, Reversing Earlier Decision
"The big ten season starting officially October. Twenty. That mass. Guessing a little bit of a small base Ga- I mean, the big thing is the daily testing. What will it mean for plays you've declared early and you have an agent though because some some players who realized that you know if you're at Ohio state and you're not gonNA play, you might get your agent get ready for the draft, and now in theory if you've ever signed with an agent, you can never play college football again right so hopefully, something can be worked out because this is an exceptional. That, surely, well, currently there isn't, but obviously, we're in uncharted territory. We've never had never to deal with this situation before. So the NC Double A.'s can have to think on its feet. The big ten will felt pressure from parents, players and other leagues but make no mistake they wanted to play football they. Awesome. There's been talk as if the OH, they don't. They don't care they. You know they don't take football seriously anyone think likes if Michigan Penn State doesn't care about playing football. It's worth so much money to all of. Them it's great that coming back. We'll see if the PAC twelve can do. It's I I remember speaking to a couple of months ago and you asked me how confident I was the NFL season stall on time as normal and whether college football would and I was a hundred percent positive the NFL week one would start as normal. Absolutely note faith that college football would be able to see college football is still in a state of flux. It's a much more complicated situation than the NFL you can just keep these thirty teams. Following the same sort of. Glad to see the big ten back. But it's going to be hard for any of those teams to make the national championship because don't get to play as many games as the other conferences.
Report: Chiefs, Texans players, coaches free of COVID-19
"Football is a sport where we see players regularly get injured this season, the greatest concerns for player safety are about health conditions. We can't even see taking place as in the potential transmission of covert 19, but Great news so far among all players, coaches and team personnel who were tested last Thursday, when the season kicked off in Kansas City between the Chiefs and Titans. Nobody tested positive. Nobody. However, a groundskeeper at Arrowhead Stadium did test positive for covert 19, but reportedly did not have any contact with players. These air the first known results of covert testing since the NFL season began.
The NCAA decides Nov. 25 will be the start date for college basketball's season
"Twenty fifth is the intended start date for college basketball season and the oversight committees. As I previously reported had suggested that this go to November twenty first and that was the formal recommendation sent to the D. One council last Friday five days ago however. I was told and I want to be clear in how I share this information I talked to Dan Gavitt on the record earlier today and I have a story Cuny that you can read with a lot of stuff about why we're here and what's next and etcetera etcetera. But what about to share with you? I never discussed with Dan Gavin any kind of regard this is just my info gathering and what I think happened here today. So as I understand it, Dan Gavitt was one of a few important people that was really adamant about having the season start on November twenty fifth, and then the oversight committee acids power to do look at everything considered all the MTV's the multi team events and said, you know what with so many of. These starting on November twenty third in a couple actually starting scheduled starting November twenty. First we think we best to bump up the season by about four days. Get it done on November twenty first and just use that runway toward the rest of the rest Thanksgiving week including Maui invitational etc. wouldn't you know GP The D. One council met today in the D. One council for those familiar one representative from all thirty two leagues that have Division One men's and women's basketball. And I don't know why it got to this point specifically but we are at November twenty fifth I mean I know one reason Gavin told me on the record November twenty fifth they estimate seventy, six percent of campuses. We'll have all of their entire student bodies off campus on November twenty five as opposed to twenty and twenty one is forty three percent and making these decisions for health and safety reasons is the first and foremost reason. For doing this also significant to meet November twenty one st never made sense at all because that's a Saturday we will have college football and we will be leading to an NFL Sunday you have Wednesday. Now November twenty five, we can start then you have day to yourself, there will be no NFL, there will be no college football there will be no MBA there will be no nhl there will be no pro baseball, the only major American. Sport, that will be played on Wednesday. November twenty fifth season will be college basketball and that in of itself I think is a positive up shoot. So
Sports Overload (MM #3465)
"The Maison with Kevin Nation could America be suffering from Sports overload right now? Well, if the early NFL ratings or anything, it could be Thursday when the NFL debuted it was the first day I think in history where the NBA Major League Baseball NHL NFL WNBA and I think tennis and golf were all playing. I think NASCAR ran a truck race Thursday, but people aren't watching the first few games of the NFL Thursday night football game. The first game of the season was down 16% from last year Sunday nights first NFL game was down 28% and it had teams like Los Angeles and Dallas to Big teams and numbers on Sunday games from both Fox and CBS were up and down wasn't really about football. Was it really about sports overload or was it something else? Nobody knows for sure, but I know people were watching the NFL ratings are tad bit concerned right now because everybody was waiting for the NFL to get back and well, it doesn't look like people are watching something bigger is afoot I think we'll figure out soon won't wage.

Browns dealing with injury questions at tackle
"Us some news about steelers running back James Connor. Yoshimi sprained his ankle last night Laura now, Mike Tomlin said they're going to leave the white on them for this weekend. So they don't believe it's overly serious, but obviously couldn't finish last night's game in penny snow came and finishes the weeks second leading rusher play very well. Philip, he's got a case turf toe. He also didn't finish last night's game. The team is opening that it's mild. He's hoping that he'll be able to go. This week but PHILP Lindsey Nursing Turf Twenty three to Jerry painful for running backs a difficult injury, and of course, the bears right now are dealing with an unhappy Allen Robinson who today took off his social media pages all mentions of the bears he's unhappy with his contract situation. He's in the last year deal. He'd like a new contract and the fact that he is basically removing references to the bears on his social media platforms. An old trick also a new trick, but it also tells you a lot about players mindset, Alan Robinson not happy with the bears at this point in time.
Dodgers vs. Padres is the new high-stakes rivalry MLB needed
"Exciting team the hottest team in baseball right now at the Padres going up against the best team in baseball right now, the Dodgers and they're playing for the division, and it's really chippy. And we're coming down to the last 10 games of a wild wild year. That's why I shouldn't have to say so. I may put it another way. Like if you've ever been to a music festival, then you know how there are multiple bands to play at the same time, but on different stages, right? So the headliners get the realestate. The artists who were printed up in a smaller fought on the flyer our summer off to the side playing with smaller crowd, But if you've ever been to a music festival, you know that the smaller bands off to the side sometimes put on the better show. Sometimes you want to be off to the side and you want to see what's going on over there. Last night, I could make the argument the Dodgers and Padres put on a better show than the NFL doubleheader. When they were playing back to back on the main stage. If you have not been paying attention, then maybe you did not know last night was in fact. An unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. The unstoppable force Now are the red hot Slam Diego Padres. They welcomed the immovable object. The seven time defending NL West Champ L. A Dodgers to Petco Park. San Diego, Riding an MLB best seven game heater, the Dodgers holding onto a 2.5 game lead in the division with their ace, Clayton Kershaw on the bump. Kirsch has been nothing short of vintage this year. Maybe the villa is down a bit, but it doesn't matter because this dude has been spinning Uncle Chuck. Slinging a slide piece to the tune of a sub to E. R. A five wins and a career best whip, and for five innings last night, he mowed right through the analyst, second best lineup. Padres. Righty D. Nelson lament matched him the entire way, though, halfway through that game, we were watching an old school pitchersduel. Their courage was barely getting the better off. And then things went from somewhat respectful and cordial to extremely chippy with a single swing in the bottom of the sixth. Game was won Nothing at that point Dodgers and then Padres centerfielder tranq regime. Finally got to Kershaw and tied it up with this Moonshot the deep right field for Christian. It's
A Guide For Mashup - Fasting
"There are other ways of changing the microbiome for one Actually, a pilot clinical trial found that intermittent fasting for fifteen days intermittent fasting. But on the days of their fasting in this pilot study, people could eat with up to five hundred calories sort of like a fasting mimicking diet almost in a way. They basically did this for fifteen days. So they were fasting for a total of seven days and then not fasting for total seven days, and there was an increase in bacterial richness in in the gut microbiome in certain types of bacteria that have been shown to promote the production of t regulatory cells. and basically there's This was including lactobacillus bacteria, which are which are commonly used in probiotics as well. Those those have been shown to play a role in promoting T regulatory cell numbers through the production short chain fatty acids. it also enriched other bacterial species like protozoa, which is another one that's also been shown to play a role in. T Regulatory Cell Production In the Gut. Interestingly, it was also shown that fasting induced is sort of its own. You know like kitone body metabolism was happening. That was regulating the micro basically was facilitating microbiome growth as well. So I thought that was a really interesting study was because fasting itself has been shown to also affect autumn unity through other mechanisms aside from the Gut microbiome. which that study I just cited really focused on but there have been other studies. A lot of lot of studies have been done. by Dr Vaulter Longo and colleagues that are found either fasting. Fasting mimicking diet or even a Ketogenic Diet. Has. Has Been Shown in animal studies and a very, very small pilot clinical study in patients with multiple sclerosis. An autoimmune disorder where individuals basically just just one week of the fasting mimicking diet or. or six months on the Keita. Genetic Diet so much longer period beyond the ketogenic diet versus the week of the fasting mimicking diet. They had an improvement in in clinical measures for a variety of clinical measures for for Multiple Sclerosis the animal studies sort of confirmed that. That the you know there was a lot a lot of effects on on t regulatory cells and a variety of different effects on autoimmune regulation from the fasting mimicking diet or also fasting. So other studies have found that fasting itself. Can Basically Lead to to preferential preferentially lead to the death of dysfunctional cells, and the seems to happen quite a bit in the immune system So as as a fast becomes more prolonged A tofte g starts to happen and a tough ogies basically clearing out damaged off with NFL. But as the as the stressor becomes stronger, if the entire cell is actually damaged enough the cell will die via pop toasties and this has been shown to occur in definitely occurred animal studies where basically if you if you take a mouse and fast for forty eight hours. About. Twenty. Eight percent of the immune cells in the mouse will die off and this activates stem cells in the blood system and. Then, he met a poetic system where they stem cells increased by six fold, and this causes stem cells then to make brand new. Immune cells, young brand, new healthy immune cells, and. Only it's. VAULTER has shown that they bake. Non they make they make functional immune cell. So you can clear out a number functional immune cell that perhaps would be was playing a role in auto immunity and replace it with a healthy functional immune cell that you know that basically is not having that autoimmune sort of defect

So I think it was a great transition into go from working with great creators like Courtney Kemp and fifty to now be on the Lena and her crew has been just an incredible transition and so there and you've been acting in so many different types of roles for over ten years I'm curious like what type of role do you hope comes next I'm always looking for relieve rooted and grounded stories just stories that matter to us. Our culture stories that we can relate to stories that people aren't telling I'm attracted to that kind of material, which is why I'm also producing house well, because the great thing about producing, find your own material and bring it to life you're working on a new project that gives a behind the scenes. Look at the NFL. Tell us a bit about this new series and why you wanted to be involved. So fifty were executive producing together the book that we read that we love and it's more about like what goes on behind The scenes with sports, but it's mostly about the women. So many women just give up their own lives just to be there for their partner, who's an athlete losing sports, and what happens when you like I have my own life and I want to do my own thing and what effect does that have, but it gets really grimy and gritty in real and obviously you know sports and athletics or something you know I know a lot about so I was able to really give some of my stories and really gives some real. Really exciting content to the show. So we're excited we're excited to hopefully be in production really soon and get that oven going you're also working on. Producing Story About Sin Toya Brown long you know young woman who killed a man in self defense sixteen was tried as an adult given a life sentence was then finally offered clemency last year. Why was it so important to you to make sure that this story was told that just such a powerful story and I had been tracking it for a while and watching toys interviews and just what happened to her from young growth? Donau. Moe's fascinated at like what? Was Your Life like that. took you down these paths and then her completely changing her life and finding God and becoming the spokesperson for young girls and sex trafficking. I thought it was amazing. So that's something we're so excited about and wanted to be so careful with because now we're telling someone's life story. You don't WanNa, take it lightly or take that for granted art.

"You know i i kept getting concussions. Never had one diagnosed me and as you mentioned kept going going and that's ruined my career and so now i've always thought it was crazy that we're f- completely fine with strapping helmet on an eight year old and tell him to whack his head but we don't educate as coach and we don't educate the kid and we don't educate the parents about concussions which are very easy to educate on also very severe injuries and what people don't understand is that you can really minimize the damage if you rest your concussions and so now the big push is happening legislatively. It's happening educationally through the c._d._c. Is that no youth. Coach should not be taking an educational program on concussions and the c._d._c. You actually have a coaching certification available a few months that we will be pushing like crazy to make mandatory for every youth coach that we don't waste these brain cells out appearance chris. You do have brains already that you've been doing research on. What are they finding through that research urge because i saw in the piece that they were doing sections of the brains and then they were analyzing it from that standpoint. What are they seeing all the the primary thing. We're looking inform on. Many of the things is the presence of a toxic protein called tau t._a. You if something that most researchers know well from alzheimer's disease these but we're finding also developed simply from trauma and so when you saw the pictures of the brains and you saw these dark brown specs all throughout the brain i mean that was a representation of this toxic protein that had killed those brain cells and so we're seeing that the disease actually selectively attacks ax areas of the brain that control emotional control attacks places of the brain that control memory and things like that and so <hes> we're we're seeing that whoa only unfortunate rushing pushing a snapshot of what the disease is done. We don't know when it started or how quickly progressed but we can see that. These men were walking around with profound brain disease at the n._f._l. Level you know as well as i do. It's kind of a conflict of interest situation. When it comes to the doctors. Their responsibility is not only to get the player healthy but to get them back on the field are are they in such a conflict. It's going to make it hard to deal with solving this problem well. It's it's it's become less hard because the n._f._l. Changed changed the rule and now if a player's diagnosed with concussion can't go back to play until they see an independent doctor because you're right that conflict of interest was simply simply so profound that doctors would be paying our hospitals would be paying teams have the right to be the team doctor. 'cause you get so much so many patients you reputation it'd be so big big and and so there are very clear situations including ted johnson story. Kyle turley has stores n._f._l. Players saying they don't felt they're given the best care the proper care because they new their doctor did not want to lose his job and would not fight for him and so they were mistreated and <hes> hopefully that will go away a little more now that not only do they have you see the doctors but also the athletes are much better educated and now understand why they shouldn't be going back and probably are going to be pushed around as easily chris. We've got about a minute before we have to break here but the the thing that struck me is that you had an interview that was done. I think in two thousand seven or part of that story that was done <hes> about the team physician representing the national football league and he just i could not believe him saying that they don't see any connection between a brain injury and some of the end result situations with players that there is is no information that connects the two together i mean it was just playing ignorance on the doctors part that represented the n._f._l. You know it wasn't planning. There's it's not like you hadn't seen the day of the doctor cast and there's actually now since step down as co chair of that committee but he he just he decided to create a absurdly high bar for what what he considered evidence and he probably wasn't going to be convinced until we had hundreds of cases of this and not just ten or fifteen that we have and so <hes> he was just the wrong man to be leading the n._f._l.'s.

"Bengals. Those have given their players especially players that they want to rely upon for big roles starting roles making the team whatever <hes> they have really given the white glove left treatment to injure guys or guys that could be at risk for injury <hes> all of that so. I think this is going to be a game where you're not going to see a lot of players <unk> but you are going to see guys that i mean even guys that you think are at the back end of depth charts. I don't think you're gonna see a lot of the rodney andersons. I don't think you're gonna see you know. Some of these tight ends or you know. I think some of those guys are just gonna say. You know what you're on the team. You made it. Don't worry about playing this is more about you. Know this group of guys is that we need to figure out who may sneak onto the roster who's going to land on the practice squad and who is going to be out of here <hes> <hes> but for me i think the interior of the offensive line is going to be interesting to watch <hes> i think the linebacker group is going to be interesting to watch and i think it's going to be a a game where a lot of the weak areas will be spotlighted and that's where you can really pinpoint and say that's where they're going. Come waiver wire time <hes> whether that's the offensive line whether that's linebacker <hes> you know who knows it may be an additional defensive lineman but i think for now you really like you mentioned johnny really kinda wanna keep an eye on linebackers and offensive line <hes> right now in this game because is those two positions. I think the bengals will scour the waiver wire to get some bodies there. If if the bengals go that route do you. I mean are you. What's your confidence level in the team being able to find players. Potentially that can have a bigger impact. Maybe some of the guys that we've seen in week four of the preseason. I have more confidence and then finding out a rostrum lamp becker roster lonzo line offers. That's lamas. No no team has a surplus of often limited. Unfortunately guys we're getting are basically the same however that the cutting for ingles. Maybe there's a linebacker to give give them some some special teams value. Maybe play pension coverage whatnot got patriots at a loss of name but probably the deepest atlantic all right now and i believe guy of thinking of lead the n._f._l.'s teams tackles twenty seventeen. I ran that he was tested on the bubble. So maybe that's god looked forward with me but yeah. I think i think there if it keeps six linebackers i think the six is going to be somebody on the team right now. I'm not too confident <unk> entree partner with anybody even though i think they have a handful of beds to have somewhat of a value but yeah i would say more violent beker in if it keeps six exciting right now how how much of an impact if at all do you think this this week four game has on her confidence level preparation anything for the week one opener. Does it mean anything or is it simply trotting out guys to see to sift through kinda. Hey back into the roster practice guys guys that are in that's it. It never means anything for anybody that matters but just for the guys for still fighting harley. I like this is like the scouts time really just focusing on on bishops every game because these guys have the guy's not happy jordan. The guys that are playing are going to get cut and have to look for work at someplace else basically auditioning for another team so it's very important for those guys. It's not going to be pretty impressionable <unk> none of the stars playing for the entire game so there's gonna be guys like like we said the deep positions that unfortunately not take air but they can find someplace else in our own well <hes> the bengals take on. They host the colts to end the preseason. It's always every year <hes> the the preseason ends with those teams playing each other because of the proximity of the two clubs jobs but <hes> those two teams are set to face off this <hes> thursday night at seven pm eastern will have the coverage on since he jumped will dot com.

Jay z did not contact operate join discussions about the deal. The deal is already been done prior to competition company the had jesse had and he certainly didn't have concentrated in the throat. The lawyer said jay z says we've moved past kneeling and i think it's time to go into actionable. Items and this partnership can inspire and educate so again a very strange situation. I'm just not sure on what kind of the right answer is here because a one-sided i'm jay z went into. Take this whole social activism thing to the next level in that some kind of change but then you calling company saying hey. How can you say hey that team now. That isn't jay z's probably level of influence. That's why cops out any kind of sway to get the team <unk> owner to higher quality team and also as a team owner. I'm not sure i feel as if this i'm not sure how it would go. I'm sure if someone was super liberal or super-conservative and just was spewing lows of gun <hes> gun control rhetoric or talking about how great trump is and just as you know being on the complete nuisance. I'm pretty sure most n._f._l. Teams would still will do to save panic and no sign the guy all you know maybe keep them away from the press whatever may be but it wouldn't be welcome back with upper moms because they wouldn't want any attention to go away from the football right. You've seen what's happened with antonio brown right. The amount of love unrest is causing n._f._l. It is almost so west and if you buy in general we're going in the right direction. I think i'd like to see company back in the team again. I think that would maybe close chapter but i'm also a bit a bit missed about how he never regarded settlement which he probably isn't required to but if you're gonna do this stuff publicly protesting in such a public one big platform you other people some kind of patient about what you did so much now. What does that mean entailed hammers. You receive it meant. You had to have a guy go. I mean you couldn't say anything about what he's doing. Does it mean he couldn't play another team. I want some dios. That's a bit as efficient overall. I think it's a good dugo ford for hip. "I will tell you this in that regard which not going to do anybody a bunch of papers this week but <hes> if you go back it's it's not like <hes> the fountain of information but sometimes keep it simple stupid. If you go back and look at the scores in week one last year there were a couple of games that were low scoring. Most of these games were high scoring circus acts and then we too if flipped the other way where the majority of the games were lower scoring and it makes utter and complete sense that no these guys were playing sixty minutes football so if guys are getting tired appeared in the late in the game because they're playing a sixty minute game for the first time in over a year the offense at the advantage. They know where they're going. Tackling could be suspect so i would just say as a general rule of thumb look for overs as a starting point in week one then they get a full sixty minute game under their belt what they do wrong. They make adjustments in the defense has come to life and week to and it's it's a simple thing but i think it's a pretty sound starting point. Yeah you know i. I'm glad you remember that. 'cause i completely forgot about it. I feel like maybe maybe a week one last year. The over was twelve and four or thirteen and three some absurd number and a lot of those didn't even fall close to the total so i don't remember because i don't know they flew over well and then i remember us talking on the show about you know in in any league whether it's the n._b._a. Football whatever the biggest adjustments come from the first week to the second week or the second week of the third week. I remember we're talking about that here. On the show of you know what do the oddsmakers do with these totals now for week two then furthermore even into week three so yeah we'll see i do you wonder if it follows that mold and i also wonder if the and i probably shouldn't wonder this but i wonder if this works remember that and we'll bump these totals was up a little bit or be more aggressive with their line moves in week one well. I think what happens and you know. The odds makers are trying to generate array to act and we'll sit there with this cautionary tale then we'll say till you're blue in the face. Don't overreact to what you last witness <hes> in recent years i we'll say this <hes> you were seeing wine moves in n._f._l. Games but you're seeing on a week to week basis adjustments that you're like wow in the n._f._l. This could be week seven to week eight based on what was last seen and i think that's the oddsmakers just the you know the public's going to do and i think what will happen is if i think the other thing even though that was the case last year here if you have high scoring games in week one gonna shake totals up in week two <hes> because that's what people saw and so on top of the games likely will be lower scoring but the total is may actually be higher..

"What what are the real issues in your life. Let's talk about those trump has done that more successfully than bernie sanders. I say this someone who is not pro trump but he has done it more successfully accessibly because bernie has given in too much to the other distracting authoritarian agendas but there is a there was i shouldn't say there is there was a commonality between these two men which was how can we go above this bad politics which has taken the western world by grip and talk to ordinary people about what's concerning them and their everyday lives both of those had that instinct i think bernie has jettison instinct and has gone too far down the crew so i think you're apps. If you people want to take kind of calmer retribution in the fact that he's going to be destroyed. I think that's fine find because he made bad choices. It's just crappy. It's yes it just is but okay so let's link back to to the populism that you're talking about so i understand that and then what what is either the connection or disconnection between that and then nationalism then veers into what we should all be worried about which is actually ethno-nationalism yes so i think national populism is a pretty good thing because i think the only way democracy can work in a real way like i mean meaningful democracy where everyone regardless of best station in society regardless of how much money have regardless of how much education they you have. Everyone has the right to an equal say in how society's organized. I think that's an incredibly important political value. I think in many ways is the key article value. The only way that value can be upheld is if you have a coherent nation a nation which is not interfered with too much by outside forces which is not bossed around by a foreign oligarchy like the european union which by the way can write laws the us british people must live by even though we have no direct mechanism for pushing aside the people who write those laws to its fundamental outsource all your freedom people in brussels amazing right so we don't want to outsource all freedom. We want to outsource all democratic decision making processes but that's what has happened so i see national populism as an attempt attempt to recover the ideal of democracy and and borders are actually central to the idea of democracy because if a nation doesn't in control its own borders than it really isn't a nation a tool and if it isn't a nation a tool than it cannot have democracy which can only really in any meaningful sense. Take take place within a nation humanity has not thought of any other way that democracy can work although the intonation so when somehow people sort of think that borders are are somehow against freedom but actually the only thing that ensure free absolutely and i think the riot nation to police borders into control his board. What is this is essential now as it happens. I'm very liberal on the question of immigration. I would like a liberal policy on immigration in the u._k. N._f._l.'s but i think the onus is on me to argue for that in the democratic sphere rather than having a situation where in europe for example the european union determines how how many migrants country should take less implicitly anti-democratic over here in the u._s. You have a situation where you have these supposedly radical eccentric democrats who just think everyone should be able to come to the us regardless of whether they come through the legal port of entry regardless of whether they tried that's through in the in the reasonable way they think that people should be able to swim into the country and do as they please what these things having common is an hostility towards the idea of borders but it's an haas hostility towards the idea of borders. That's not based on freedom but is is based on the idea that the nation is is a bad thing and that democracy is a bad thing and we should just throw everything open and allow other people to decide the fate of the country ah democratic..

You could walk into a living room. Mom would like it. Dad would like you and the kid would like. You and i don't think that's the case with a lot of even n._f._l. Legends and so it's my pleasure to bring in herm edwards arizona state last year winning record in the pac twelve seven and six overall first of all coach this college things interesting her and because in in the n._f._l. You get countless hours to practice in college. It's reduced to seventeen hours a week herm. How much of a struggle is getting that information into that tinier window of practice. Well you make a great point and it is about information coaches or knowledge college providers and you have limited time. Efficiency is is one of the things you have to consider but also what are you asking these players to do and i think you have have to simplify a lot of things in college football and the fact that you don't have the time as you wouldn't n._f._l. And so with that being said the better better players <hes> the more simple you can become because you figure like you're you're good athletes will win out and so here we go again talking about athletes of they recruited right and that's that's what college football release about it about recruiting. You don't have a lot of returners offensively. Last year you ran the football and you played great defense in fact that that went over michigan state <hes> was i thought an incredibly well coached well played game considering that staff was veteran and yours was a brand new staff half and over the course of the season you had some big wins <hes> again. You don't turn it over run. The football play defense well. We needed to play that way last year knowing that we were gonna probably play a young quarterback and lo and behold. We're planning freshman quarterback light. I think you had to establish that last year a little bit of identity and then also as you talked about defense defensively i think in college football you need to make some stops stops or critical than college football this about scorn the ball and how can you limit possessions while you limited by controlling the clock in not allowing fourteen to fifteen divisions. Keep it in n._f._l. Pays around twelve we were able to do that and as you know we were in a lot of one score..

Population that-that abandoned the league and be quite honest like that that population was overwhelmingly overwhelmingly african americans now. I don't know how this is going to reflect in viewership. I don't know how it's gonna reflect in sales but this is this. This is gonna be a fascinating point for the n._f._l. Because while they think they've loop pass this era i don't. I don't know how the n._f._l. Actually move pass it because at this point colin colin kaepernick is who he is. He's he's never. This is definitely high on the totem pole. I would love to see him backing league. I would love to see them having another chance to play but just the fact of the matter is i don't think that's ever going to happen but even even if a lot of people feel that way he still in their hearts he still in their minds and they a a lotta people will not be able to get past that essentially because of this partnership not i. Does he need a free release the effective or can he he beat somebody scrimmage from time to time now the preseason kinda tailor made for somebody like goldman though he's playing against guys most most of the time he's going to be playing against quarterbacks backs that are fighting for depositions or to barely break starting lineup. When you have a guy that has superior speed. He should shine in this situation. I doubt comical. Hartman gets only first team reps. He's going to be playing with second team quarterback against second team corners. He should really shy when that happens. He should be a guy making place he. You should look really good if he's not letting it starters so that's kind of what i'm hoping to see from him. I'm excited to finally get is on because you guys have seen him a little bit. I haven't got to yet so i'm ready for it. I know i'm kind of coal hartman hater because i question how he's gonna be this year but i'm excited to see what he can do. Maybe i've underplayed in my mind how valuable valuable his particular speed is going to be. I just need to see it right now against n._f._l. Players d's that's absolutely the case. I wanna see his releases. I wanna see his routes. It's a want to see his brakes. I wanna see how much he's grown. Because what i saw at camp was a functional wide receiver. I want that to continue against another set of cornerbacks. Not just the chiefs cornerbacks that i saw not just you know patrick mahomes getting him the ball quickly..

"Hard knocks. You ready all right debut coming your way tomorrow. It will feature jon gruden and his oakland raiders so that is where we start this afternoon. We we begin with antonio. Brown has participated in just one practice with the raiders during training camp. He was forced to see a foot specialist over the weekend. He is having considerable trouble with his speed which has limited his ability to work out on the field and with our apologies discretion advised miss. You might want to look away because this is what he's dealing with out via an instagram story. This is exactly what the problem looks like as he continues to try and figure about how to find a remedy. No one has more one hundred catch seasons than does antonio brown. He currently shares the n._f._l. Record randy macho in each of those six seasons have come consecutively. That's easily the longest streak in n._f._l. "N._F._L. Network has was unveiled their list of the top one hundred players and guys. Dak Prescott is not on it. There were fifteen quarterbacks in the top one hundred including Carson Wentz kirk cousins Baker Mayfield and Cam Newton any reminder that this list is voted on by other players were joined by Fox N._F._L. analyst Greg Jennings Zach. doc greg good to have you with us today. Greg Does Jack Belong in the top one hundred in your opinion on he doesn't he does not not that the reason Wa said is when you when you're looking at WHO's voting. You're looking at the players. The players aren't aren't looking at this from a lens of the value of a player and they don't care about that. They're looking at the impact the how great your impact is and how you bring everybody else around you up period <hes> and so when when you look at the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott. You don't see him elevating. You don't think of him elevating everyone else you think of everyone everyone else assisting him and that's how he's viewed. It doesn't mean that he's not a great player or a good player. It just means that he hasn't done enough off in the players is to where you know what he's impacting and influencing everyone else around him. Versus being influenced by everyone on that. We're putting around him. When you talk about the other players that are listed from the Dallas cowboys on this top one hundred their tops in their positions like they're like at least top ten twelve in their position you out so late and Van as a rookie proved you. He's better than Dak Prescott. Just for the record. I just want to know what we're saying position. Yes players Oh..

"Our go bard world show under the E._S._p._N.. The N._F._l.. Season is rapidly approaching. It's honestly very upsetting. I thought we had way more off-season to go sadly just weeks away on the N._F._l.. Season occurring I'm not quite sad. I'm actually quite happy. I'm excited for football excited to talk about what we're going to see. In this upcoming season that is going to change from years past and some of that of course involves the N._F._l.'s rules N._F._L.'s officials which <hes> for a brief moment where fulltime at least part of them are full time and now that is no longer the case joining us to talk about the rule changes for the two thousand eighteen season and I talk about the referee situation is going to be the person who covers us very well for us here at E._s._p._N.. And it's Kevin Kevin how are you. I'm very good bill. How's it going? I'm good. I you are the expert in this space. You are the person who when you is something about this topic. That initial immediately becomes my opinion on that topic and so I have some confusion about the refereeing situation so let's start there <hes> in in terms of the N._F._L.'s decision which came out <hes> Razzie record this shortly after we're gonNA release a little after we <hes> are taping it but the N._F._l.. Is No longer having a subset of their officials as fulltime N._F._l.. Referees so what leads that happening in the first place well it to the decision to make them fulltime employees in the first month full time officials in the first place and what changed to make the N._F._l.. Decide to have that no longer be the case right so there has been you know for most of the N._F._l.. History <hes> referees kind of a vestige of of when this was true for players and coaches as well <hes> when the season was was over <hes> referees and officials had to get another job you know they weren't paid during the off season and so they <hes> you know they work they did football work during the season and then found other stuff to do during the off season no different than unfortunately at the time coaches and in players that it's changed over time.

"Of g._m._c. sports podcast just finished time with the n._b._a. now let's go back to the n._f._l.'s we are close to the super bowl but i must ask you this is a very important question i've been thinking about tom brady is making his third consecutive super bowl appearance which is a great feat no doubt about it and it hasn't been done i believe since the bills in the nineties when they lost four straight but my question to you is if he loses this super bowl and he loses to straight would you say this affects his legacy was this a serious question why i'm saying like will people look at more of a like he hit was great in the beginning of his career in the rebels and then he kinda lost it at the end of the super bowl run this is a serious question i'm give me your honest opinion i'm just making sure that this is a serious question like if you lose than people say he's not the greatest quarterback of all time i'm just saying like is the mystique gone a little bit i don't know why that would be to straight you don't see why that could be a he's in the super bowl every single say okay the bills went to four straight super bowls awesome all four win at all yeah if he goes to they went is he one granted he's one five but two in a row he's laws that would say like oh he could have one more he could have been better we could have one more even if he wins this one and so i'm saying like even if he wins this one how many did you lose see that's three four that's a lot yeah i don't know i don't know what you're what you really want me to say that i think that i think somebody who would who would say that this affected his legacy i think that would be a ridiculous point of view that i really wouldn't entertain to be honest with the because he's in the super bowl every single year pretty much what half of his career he's been in the super bowl every year like half like every other year he makes a super bowl in his career and it's only gotten more and more and more as he's gotten older older older so it's like i don't know he stills the most successful quarterback of all time and he will be no matter what happens sunday and if he does it against unday it'll just be a higher mountain to climb for the next person so true and i feel bad whoever's next quarterback in new england that's for sure but i think and then you got to look at the hater side and what i mean by that is deflate gate and tuck rule and all these other aspects i spy gate as well and people really kind of a lot of people really push that under the rug at the end of the day yeah i mean it is what it is he's been suspended for cheating individually his team has been forfeit draft picks his team has been fined and suspended or reprimanded so they've been they've had a forfeit draft picks like you mentioned so yeah i mean you know things have happened for sure and if people say that that goes against his legacy they're gonna feel the same way no matter what even if he wins next with five six seven super bowls in a row i mean people are still gonna say yeah but he cheated or yeah but they cheated like that's kind of one of those things are you lend yourself available to when he decide to do something outside the rules i mean if you get caught then people are going to always question since he's been accused of being a cheater and he got it for there was a there was vide- someone video record it was like someone random on instagram recorded the ref sang got your back to brady during one of the final drives in the a._f._c. championship game and there's been a lot of that in where the refs like shake their head or nod their head to tom brady of some kind and there was also this is something that live people don't really look at but there was i think those two three years maybe sooner.
