"Hell and there's this buzzsaw on Geoghegan's belly and it begins to rotate rotate ominously and you see poor angus and he's looking at it and you're thinking oh no don't run into it and then he runs right of course and it slices face into and blood sprays sprays everywhere you know well yeah and then guy grabs him with onc- hooks once and then he's frigging beaten his face with it was like it was pretty fucking can as a kid again you watch the citizen adult and you're like this is this is for kids but as a kid. It's it's amazing how you look back and things you see more real. You know you wanNA talk about traumatizing. I mean Gamma-ray is even more obscure than Godzilla but there's one of those where camera by the way the big friendly turtle fights this monster with the knife for a head gear on and there's this whole sequence it lasts like a fucking a a minute long. You can swear I just feel bad for we're talking about walking and then like put his hand over his mouth like Oh. Oh my goodness I you know we're talking about like Godzilla. Let's for kids and I'm like fucking. Whatever it is a apart a minute long where this thing is like slamming its head into the broadside of Shell and blood is all over and it's just like Jesus Christ. Remember watching as a kid kidding thinking this port hurdle. You know yeah it was. I mean I gamble is a whole other story. I remember finding out about camera and thought it was a joke like do we need another Godzilla. Woah you know but again it was the same thing it was. It was in blockbuster you'd have. VHS covers since camera Godzilla gamma was in the same Jeez and you just it was just fascinating to go through and pick up these VHS covers and look at them and so yeah but so for you let's talk about the twice really quick. Let's go back to that because you said forever. There was only the plastic right Vinyl Godzilla figure. Where were you when you found out that the I think it was Hasbro. Grow was making them masters trimesters okay yeah so. I remember this distinctly so it had to be like some time in nineteen ninety seven ninety six so it was a while because they were making them like ninety three ninety four because it was it was it was because I mean if you think it was that the I was Gonna mix up. It's not hi-sci. What's this show. I can't even say right. I don't even know if I'm saying it right after the emperor's it's either. I think it's it is it is it hey say or is it show. Oh the the first. Let's just look up the fucking Internet right in front of me one starting with like nineteen eighty-four up to destroyer destroyer are hey say I think it's Hey Shay is the pronunciation and then you're right yeah that is. I just looked at him so that it's the nineties nineteen eighty-four was the reboot and then everything after that until destroy it. Here's a story with that I don't know how my dad found out about this you know but he found out there were some toy shop or or like a weird like A. Japanese themed like collectible store opening up. I think it was in Detroit or Royal Oak. It was pretty far drive but it since close short closed some time before you know nine one thousand nine hundred ninety s earn nineteen thousand two thousand and the White Claw. Ah Got me there so it was called. Godzilla and the monster-sized cafe was literally the name of the store and we went up there my dad's okay. I heard they have dila stuff and I was wow and sure enough. Oh my God you're probably thinking like the plastic vinyl type stuff they had they had like tons of imports straight from Japan Japan and I was like Oh my God like what I mean. They had these really mean. Ask Looking Godzillas. I never saw before. I know that's the thing it was like because at the point I remember when I found out I was God's versus Violante's at that point. There was the Showa era which is the ones from the nineteen fifty four until nineteen. It was ter of Mecca Godzilla pillow. which was I wanNA say nine seventy eight? Maybe seventy five those are the seriously cheesy ones those are the ones that they just kept getting cheesier eighty four made him dark again and that's he stayed dark for the whole series the most part I it had some pretty ridiculous stuff towards towards the end there but especially the first two Godzilla eighty four or or the return of Godzilla and then God's delivers his Beilon say those are really cool movies they are the special effects even hold up for the time but anyway so in with the store and they had all of the Japanese imports and what my dad wasn't bargaining for these things started at like ninety dollars and he was like Oh shit could've done but then there in the corner were a few of these trend Masters action figures and they had like American branding in the box and everything was in English and they were like twelfth. Thank God you know but that's what I found out well. You know there's actually Godzilla action figures there are Batman Action figures. They figured it without necessarily because I remember watching those movies even as a kid being like why do they not make toys. This would make perfect sense but what was weird about it was. I was still in the dark right. This is pre internet or like early. Internet at least so all of his villains looked really different and arguably much much cooler. They had updated designs yeah I was. I was like what the hell why did they look so different you know and then Q. I don't know maybe three or four weeks later. I was staying at my grandparents house because my my parents worked at the hospital both of them It's always kind of left grandma's a lot which is actually great. my uncle who always gave me a hard time growing up about my love for Godzilla one day he goes goes. Hey there's a Godzilla movie on TV. It's called Godzilla vs violante and I was like should lose no such good move there. You made that shit up bile onto they all end in either on or off aw shit you know and at this time. I was like doing the super autism. Oh thing of walking around with a briefcase full of Godzilla movies wherever I went yeah that's awesome met. Even those children absolutely there's no question about that. I was convinced that I had the whole collection with me at all times as a matter of fact and so you know there is really no you know slipping past music. Well okay whatever but says God deliver violante right here now shut up Michael it doesn't exist and he's like whatever and he puts it on and at first like I'm thinking well this there are Japanese these people in this what is this. I recognize this but it was very serious. So I was like remember. The part was that it was about. Maybe need ten minutes before he comes out of the volcano and you have to understand that as a kid you know Godzilla nineteen eighty-four end with him falling into this volcano and gung birds really sad you see him falling. It is a pretty convincing shot in terms of special effects. It's really it's really emotional. He makes us horrible scream and you think that's that's how he dies. Is You know so this movie picks up with him. Coming out of the Damn Volcano and I was like what the hell is this. I was glued to the screen you you know he comes. Marching out of the volcano looked modern too much better much better to my ten or eleven at this point to my ten year old self if he looks real for the first I was like holy crap compare that to that era of Godzilla eighty four and violante for me is like Batman Animated Series Batman. That will always be him. That's like the definitive version I agree. I think that's always the version that people are. GonNa think of the Hey Shay version but my childhood self. I was so overloaded with just like Oh my God at the new Godzilla it looks real and my uncle of all people well who did nothing but make fun of my love for Godzilla going. He just relentlessly wrote it. He was the one I I just I passed out pretty much and I woke up in time for the the final battle and I mean you've never seen got to look at brutalized like this right. This thing is bigger than him. It's it's sticking you know. Speier tipped tentacles threw his shoulder and almost eating it was that was pretty gory battle to in terms of before guiding Bildt because it was this green slime lime. That's getting shot. Violent by the way is like this giant plant monster. It's a it's a clone of plant and Godzilla mixed together so it's a plant plant Godzilla with the spirit of the scientists daughter like possessing it or something only in the movies. Can you get away with with a three way clone. In the eighties eighty eighty nine wasn't it was yeah but yeah that movie blew my mind and you know obviously there was no record of it. There is there is no Internet psycho go to my dad about this and I'm like dad there. Is this Godzilla movie where he fights plant monster and it's bigger and he's like what and I'm like not so he hadn't heard no he was like this. He's like saw. I don't think this exists you know you're making the subs yeah pretty much and it wasn't further four years that he happened into notice that was playing again on. Hbo And he actually ordered a subscription to HBO just to see this movie and tape it for me and I I mean all I had was this record videotape of this for years to go off of but yeah it's because that was the second phase of it. I was like where the fuck for me seeing those toys. I don't remember where it came from but I had I remembered the tiny. Ones are two versions of the little action figure like. Gi Joe and there were bigger ones were almost the size of the Vinyl Godzilla and it was all of them. It was mega. Godzilla Rodin Mothra. I remember Mothra. Mothra was God's versus. The Sea Monster so that was a great movie introduced me to the whole monster at the time it was. They didn't call it the monster verse so they call the American. I I remember what they call it. The godzilla university called anything. You know they just kind of tried. You know what they're doing really. They're just making movies. You know but so I don't remember. We're aware I got it from. I think I might have gotten something for Christmas but I had Mothra and I was like wait a minute they fucking started making accented like they actually did it and and and then that is what led to me because I think it was violently. I suck on the back of this giant box which I carried everywhere with me that had all the illustrations of the jet monsters I remember that and I it was Batra and Violante and all the villains from hastier phase two so the first phase of these action figures they only had the classic monsters and a couple of them looked new. You know what I mean so it was kind of like Oh. Why did he look different that there was no real clue is like ninety s versions. Asians basic had no they were actually they literally. Were the ninety s movies versions but you had no way of knowing because those movies weren't released here. When you're that age. The second wave sounds like you got on board board with They were releasing toys once again of characters. You've never heard of like there are space. Godzilla and I was like hell is exactly yeah yeah. Here's where it gets really cool not cool. I mean they did these advertisements for the toys for the second wave of them they called him. Godzilla wars and they would put this picture of Godzilla Fighting Space Godzilla and it looked bad ass. I mean just so cool and they would put coming this summer under it so for a a whole year I was can you saw a movie coming I did. I thought like Oh my God. Godzilla wars is coming out here and it's amazing. It's going to have the school a grill and even with put clips from these nineties movies in the commercials and you thought Oh my God like this is it and so leading up to that nineteen ninety eight Godzilla movie the whole all time. I thought it was that Oh no I was going to say. Let's talk about ninety eight guts but before we do really quick as he said the first time Godzilla look real to you for me it was it was it must have been one of those commercials because I remember it was this little clip of Godzilla vs Space Godzilla and and he jumps down on on on his shoulders from building. I don't remember that I just remember there like confronting themselves and this really each other in this really dark city and Godzilla is just kinda stare stare death staring at him and he he just shoots atomic breath which that's my favorite version of his atomic breath is the is that era just that perfect blue beam coming out of his mouth it and he just shoots it out and like you said it was like for just in that little clip of is literally a couple seconds. He looked real and that would have been like ninety six ninety ninety seven. I was ten or eleven but the Roland Emmerich Godzilla which now referred to as Zilla came out ninety eight and I remember where I I sorta that was my I was at my grandparents house and my parents had gone to see some movie and they said Yes so we saw a movie trailer for something and they were telling me they're like yeah. It's these kids in there in a museum cam and they go up and they see a t rex skeleton and the you know the the teacher whatever's town about the skeleton and all of a sudden this my mom she's like all of a sudden on this giant foot comes down and crushes the skeleton and it says guess who's coming to town and and I'm like I was like vibrating with excitement at this point. I'm like no fucking way. I was fucking insane. I would catch any trailer. I remember the first one I saw was. The one with the fishermen is chasing them on the dock the best.

"Right. I don't like that guy that guy but I guess it's all implied that their forces of nature yeah no their place and they take it and I like how it's interesting how the Kaija have changed <hes> their roles of being good to bad odd through the movies like you're GonNa Mothra vs Godzilla but in King of the monsters Mothra you know it's back to that of Feminine Robin Yeah. It's more romantic. It's it's it's like I love interspecies mingling. Don't get me wrong. I'm all about a on but this is like I feel I feel mildly uncomfortable. How is this going to work and and Mothra is oftentimes in older movies the one that wants to save humanity like the real guardian of humanity good guy in the old movies through someone? That's like no no no no. We got to save the world and <hes> again my friend May is low in that like dispense 'cause I was like oh my Mothra what's going on and she's like oh no author because apparently like she has two ferries aries stick with her that sort of translate because she doesn't speak English and so the ferries translate well English Japanese as me but yeah they they translate for her because she speaks some sort of ancient moth language. She's all about saving humanity and we got to see some of these old yeah. I learned that sounds cool. I had a question about cockroaches. I Dunno for your. I live in New York so like the winged ones I in grinding frightening Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Put them on my face on your face. Oh that is now. We're expected that to go skinned clearing during technique. I guess great fully yeah. I guess so I so I I will just say I'm very scared of them. I hate them. We have them. We're in Florida. I totally get it. I I hear you on that cockroaches but I thought that these motoo moved Muto's does excuse me we looked like cockroaches a little bit like radioactive <hes> element to them and so it made me think about how everyone says a cockroaches can survive a nuclear blast. I so how the hell do that. How does that smaller animals fare better any time? There's like a mass extinction. Just just put it out there because they think out underground around <hes> yes to smaller animals always do like that's the thing the dinosaurs like <hes> you know I can see them like seeing the asteroid coming towards the Gosh on the face the smaller animals survive in fact. It was really funny. I remember the zoo I can't do it was they. Were going to do this thing for Valentine's Day. It's really kind of clever but you could name your ex after a cockroach and then they feed the cockroach to I can't even remember what it was like a lizard or maybe it'd been like you know Guangzhou or dragon again and particularly this is the deal I would never want any of my ex after a cockroach because those things can live through anything assurance GonNa die right now I would. I wouldn't want any of my very vulnerable. Threatened species like a White Rhino Kevin Kevin Kevin Kevin so a safe name to you but yeah I I always thought that was really fun used to Kevin Kevin's. I'm sure you're great guys. I'm still naming a white rhino. After you not yeah cockroaches I mean just there like an in fact I use this as an example to when people ask me what planet the apes what could potentially just take over the world and because cockroaches are generalists meaning they can eat anything and <hes> they can sort of survive anywhere urban environments obviously the woods woods that you name it like jungles like they can thrive in all sorts of environments and eat anything I recently had a cockroach in my apartment and I moved into a new place in New York and it was about two and a half three inches long and it flew at me and I'm one of those people I did fieldwork in in Costa Rica I would wake up with no less than four Beatles in my hair nesting and I loved it loved it. Tire coaches hate them and these beetles flew to but they're like Oh..

"The break is over here. We go back to the Palestinians. <hes> so yeah I had <hes> I had more just like an these might be Super Cillian feel free to tell me if I'm being total schmuck <hes> but similar starts living with two Modem Poma which I wanna get to touch John Muir cats and <hes> and warthogs but while he's there they tell them to start eating bugs and so I was just curious if lines eat bugs and if they could live off a diet of bugs if they had enough bugs they would be there nutritious nickel live off of them okay. I don't think they do live off of them. Because I think the IT'd be getting the quantity rate like fifteen pounds of meat a day. WHOA fifteen pounds imagine in like that's a lot of bugs to give team pounds worth power all the time yeah perspective movie like the bugs? They're getting eaten by the Simba Damn Good. Oh my gosh. She's wiping out our host species. I know a lot a too much about just from one line. Okay okay. That's fair yeah but I do like this really sad. Insect story were just families are being ripped apart by him there you you go to another alternate movie from the Buds Perspective yes three dominant Zilin Mothra and at the time in your local neighborhood of bug Bill Huambo would look the most horrifying. Oh my gosh yeah yeah in a lot of ways. It is a horror film. I mean we're really getting down to it on whose perspective you take yes and same with life guys step in other people's shoes. Sometimes you know okay so probably not living off bugs probably not eating bugs very often even think they do. I know you know cubs will chase bugs or a little things like that because they're just learning how to hunt okay the practice that as adults. I don't think think they not so much and is there digest straight meet my understanding. Is that yeah. That's what's going on <hes> wow. They don't get their veggies. They don't need their veggies. Maybe it I don't know enough about that but it's it's possible that you know they'll chew on grass now and then sometimes animals will do that casts house cats will do that. I just gave my house cat some grass recently <hes> because she was having some digestion problems and it was suggested and so we got some congratulated for so great as good for the stomach maybe in small amounts like the roughage and the polyphenols chemicals that are in leafy Greens leave you material okay can act as a digestive or help things move along or have a small medicinal effect so pure carnivores will some of them will occasionally eat some graduates of grass or something interesting so I don't we grass Lola my cat speak for yourself grass for lunch and you can order us some grass. That's that's similar grass yeah okay and then would simba eat zas zoo the bird the bird if he's on his own and he's like hunting and he's young and experience because he left the pride when he was just a cub store right so if such it just scenario actually happened she would go after small game small games game exactly okay the outrage eight character they this is no longer sympathetic at all uh-huh and then of course perspective movie from the bird wrecked by there you go okay and then I read..

"Hey, Michelle comeback. While technically you're not even here right now. You're unwelcome. Go back to wherever vacation you came from and just a followup teppanyaki is like wouldn't. They cook all the food on that grill in front of you. You know, like on top chefs, yeah, exactly, what are those called again. Teppanyaki grill. No, that's the style of cooking, okay show. The show sound like their own name. The do that. I mean, they all have human names. True. Might was my I got like a Johnny Bravo thing on my hair. Oh, yeah. It's doing or like a little duckling flip. It's, it's awesome. So I got to the office this morning, I'll and the front door was locked and our frontiers behind this huge iron gate. So we don't usually lock the front door because it's like if you already got through that, like, what, what the fuck doesn't matter? And again, I was like that. Like why did you lock the front door and Matt? What was your response after you laughed? I got high was paranoid. The neighbor. The neighbor who's a doctor. She works off hours. So I heard the big iron gate opening and closing like one in his various sleep in high. So I took towed over to the front door and watched that bitch. I've never done eight never haven't. So I was like, oh my God. Like what was going on and Magister laughing this like, rascal athletic f? So we'll do to you. Yeah. Oh my God. So what's been up? What's been in your little high thoughts lately? So Godzilla the new the billboard. They're everywhere huge fan, huge fan of a huge, huge fan giant dinosaur destroys the city amazing. You are out of town right now. So, by this point, I have gone to see Godzilla. Yeah. With cousin Brian, or by myself, I sure it's amazing. Yeah, they got me with the first one, because I was like. Oh, cool. Bryan cranston's and God's never mind. He's dead. You will see anything with Bryan, Cranston it yet. But it was good. And I guess this is their sequel to that. So I'll fucking good. Check it out the guy like mothra and all the other Dennis's. You don't fuck. What guides don't understand God still at why he lives under the ocean. Yeah. But I don't know what like none of us know God, still what his lifestyle is like Zillow have a house. No. He's he emerges from the ocean was ready to fuck shit up. Does he eats? Whatever he wants. He's God Zillah cannot be checked. He's not on if he's going to eat, you, if he's going to eat a fucking radio tower dot says, paleo diet or whatever. Yeah. Okay. So we don't know. He's very mysterious. I don't know what he's doing in the offseason. Yeah. I know what's his personal life. Yeah. Does he go home to like XBox? Does he eat like krill? Like a whale. I don't know where every God's movie ends with him going into the ocean. Usually starts with them. Be like fuck hate to do this, but we got a call Godzilla. I think I'll him. I don't know. I don't know if it's like with the newer movies if they do like with a Power Ranger that little flute. It was the green ranger which team, the white ranger, right? And he had that fucking. Why is he the only ranger with a flute and wouldn't you yell? It's more fun time. Right. Like what, what's what are the guidelines? Power Ranger universe. How does this? How did we get here from Godzilla? We're talking about giant lizards, and he got his own, like MEC droid kind of thing, it was like a t Rex. Oh, that's true. If I'm one of the forgot about the dinosaur Tien. Yeah. If I'm one of the Power Rangers, I'm going to be like, why I gotta sure this fucking Meck Meck thing with floor other assholes that guy gets his own, and he gets to change colors, and he's got a flute. Yeah. Fuck Tommy, no. And the green rate was hotter. I believe it was the same actor though. No, no. I mean hotter than Tommy, the red ranger are that Tommy was the green ranger..

And a bunch of shit hits the fan and this, these mercenaries come in and blow a bunch of scientists away, and they wanna like free mothra and. Vera for mega, she's an charge of the mothra experiment and eleven from Millie Bobby Hayes, Millie, Bobby Brown from eleven from. Choice even show that show that TV show that everyone liked. There's like scientists with their brains being blowing out PG thirteen. But so you don't see much and mothra fucking free author's, pretty sweet or some great sounds to some really good sound design in this one. It's not screaming at you and a little bit of a reprieve and some calmness because she gets the machine, I can remember the name of it talking the alpha and getting mothra to like going off wants me to be mellow Toby mellow. And then she allows there's fire destruction everywhere and his giant, monolith of a creature and eleven she's like probably fifteen year old girl. She wants to touch mothra mothra face. Big bug faces right. I closed them and VERA for me, her mom, hold her hand, so she can lean across kvass and touch mothra because that's how much faith she has in this fucking machine controlling author of the year. That's I five minutes, and you're that that's how bad and they weren't even doing like tongue in cheek having fun with it, awful played planet straight. It's unbe. Believable. But, you know, maybe this does well over overseas. Maybe I have no doubt. Well in the box office. Right. All that stuff. Such a shame. Because Godzilla deserve so much better. He really does. He deserves better. People are going to figure it out. It's going to be huge hit one of these days. They just they seem to have no fucking clue. Maybe maybe it's a cultural. Gap means more overseas Japan, for example, the Asian markets, speaking of so much better. I saw film. Now, if, if you're not transsexual, you should not be playing transsexual, onscreen. Right. You're not gay. I mean, there were starting to get to that. It's not quite a hundred percent there. But there's a lot of people who believe if you're not gay shouldn't be playing a game in a minority thing..

"Indeed, also gotta love. Let's let's kill Zillah and UK's. I guess we kind of poor Zola. He's, he's having a day, you know, he's literally trying to help is remains the kill him. Throw a nuclear weapon, Adam. And he's back. He has to finish the humans doing this movie is so bonehead it is so dumb. But I do want to say a couple of positive things because I do think there are a few images in this movie that are spectacular. I thought the underwater when the, you know, he's lighting up and he sort of swimming in there looking at him. I thought that was pretty cool. But my favorite image in this home of that's going to stick with me. That is really. I think very very artfully done was the very end. When Godzilla we think Godzilla has finally killed the, the hydra. And then we see the hydra head come back off. It's like, oh my God. It's not dead. No. It's in the mouth of Godzilla thought that shot was so smart and cool. And it's like they didn't have to wait through two. Our ten minute movie to get it, but he's just slipping that lasts noodle. It's a string after say there's some there's a lot of good mother stuff here. This movie does not set up really what mother is in y mothra is kind of interesting and important just like here's a giant moth. It's kind of healing Godzilla. I guess that's cool. The weird like kind of inferring that, that Godzilla mothra fucking. Yeah. Most definitely. Yes. Definitely. I like how they just like label. Everybody's like, oh, she's the Queen of the monsters. I see I see this is how it works. But Martha street up knifing dude, I think is, is pretty fantastic. Never really had weapons when mantra fought before she. She would like flap, her wings, and like blow things away. It's not super exciting authors. Support for good and defense. She's, she's like the healer. Kind of in this group helping out God's ille- usually some other stuff have to say, I like the new design at least. Yeah. And I actually think the MO the final moments of Ken Watanabe's character were like well done from a filmmaking perspective, right? Like 'cause the movie actually slowed down for two minutes to give you this moment where you can finally reflect on what one of these characters emotional state, is that being said I mean, I think it's there's a lot going on in that scene. He looks at his pocket watch. That was stopped by the, the Hiroshima bomb. And the idea is that, like, hey, like this weapon that was such a force of horror in my life. Can like a Tomic energy can use for good. But I don't think really quite landed. Like I just think that like the movie is just going so quickly through everything that it, it doesn't have a chance to pause and really land that characters Cerezo was emotional journey in days..

"Mothra mothra, the most disgusting. Thing on earth in the moss, removing they needed mothra to save the world. Interesting fairies, begging from author to come to come out of his whatever to help them. Well, that's why I was doing the mothra song. And that's what the N well that's an because Mahthir newest name. I think by the way, I'm versus prosekey Dora is, is a man is a male. They were three heads. The movie is just all monster fighting. And with an it's an there's not much of a rooting interest, because we're supposed to root for good Zillah who previously, we haven't liked too much the brain of a pea because brand of p the world is destroyed. I think I thought the movie at one point was going to get interesting because I thought that the movie was going to be about the lunacy of ideology in the face of, of actual evidence. And this is what I thought the movie was, like you have this terrible situation where monsters are all over the place. And so you have the, the military just wants to blow up everything because that's the only thing that they know you know, it's the one thing that was the thing when, when you're these got as a hammer every problem. Looks like a nail and then you have the environmentalists and they're crazy. Too, because this saying things like, well, you know, but the moon race basically consi- if we become like pets. Godzilla. We have to become godzillas pets, and it's like, oh, that's, that's fun. And then you have another environmentalists who just wants all the monsters to just go like on a rampage because that'll be better for the earth. Well, it might be better for the earth, but it won't necessarily be better for people on the earth. So it's just so I thought that the movie was just a, a satire of, of like the left and the right who like become entrenched in positions that sometimes, and don't even see the, the practical outcomes, but it's not that it's, it's actually on the side of the more environmentally minded, but they have no power. And it's really just must've fights and its modified since must've Feis, they destroyed San Francisco. The last time and they couldn't destroy ever Cisco this time. And they, they don't want, they don't want to be on original and destroyed New York. So they destroyed Boston in this one. Yeah. One point. Yeah. They avoid comes flying. I didn't see it like that. But they really they take they do a mess on Boston at one point. Although it never happens, like, like it's like dropped as a subject. It's not like it's, it's we saved from that fate is unless I'm missing something. Somebody says it's going to be twelve megaton nuclear nuclear blasts going to be happening. Ten ten minutes. Somebody says what does that mean? And the answers well said in about ten minutes gonna be really bad to be a Red Sox fan. Which is good line in the movie. But, but then it never happened. So I don't know. It's just if you wanna see Mazda c the movie, it's not bad. It's just not good. Of, of, of different ways that aunt has away movie Colosio, I think it was called law. So that was good. Really good actually had the monsters. It was actually there was a meeting and the reason for it all. And it was good. That was like a movie that I you know, fell under the radar and just deserved a better fate. It did deserve better fate, but it's, you know, it's ending is an mic knows. I'm very good at these things. I had no clue at that ending. That was that was a very good movie. And the movies that are just lucky just have to accept that, that movies. I mean, the his it's like this. I mean, most movies are not intended for smart. People most movies are, are intended. You know that they're festival right down the middle, and that's fine. That's fine. So you should never regret. Being smart enough to like, movies at smart people. Like, of course some moves. It's smart people like that. They like only because they think this is a movie that smart people like, but I'm a genuinely liked that movies that are that are pitching. Satire always does bad, you know, because it only appeals to a very small fraction of people. So you know that never regretted. I don't you know, I just don't think that not everything was made to be very popular, if they just exist at all and get an audience at all. It's a form of success, you know as long as it didn't cost one hundred million. Talking about a popular yet. Like successful in what it does is book smart. Yeah. I, I think book smart. I it's bombing. And I can't say that it breaks my heart. That is I, I gave it a good review because I thought it was good. But I can't say I particularly liked it. I, I, I think that the movie is so self congratulatory. So we are the nice people, so politically correct, so annoying. Not knowing so self conscious, not annoying that I just found it a little bit annoying. I found that annoy and I was thinking, when I saw it as you know, everybody's going crazy that this is a movie written by Wim women directed by a woman that's about to women, and that it's a comedy. And it's about, you know, young people teenagers and this is supposed to be such a great breakthrough. And you know what? Last year. There was a move. Call never gone back. It was written directed by the same woman, Augustine Frizzell, and it was great. I just thought it was just terrific. I thought it was a lot better than book smart because it wasn't. It wasn't. It didn't have this kind of self consciousness about it. There was just a pure of just a pure expression. And I thought it was just a great now. I mean yeah. More overplay it came. But I just thought it was a really good movie. I gave it a in jumping out of the chair. Yeah. I lo- I love that movie. And. Book smart. No books Mars clapping. Yeah. And kind of vaguely grudging clapping. Because, you know, when we, we can give clapping Z the four stars out of five with three and a half stars out of five when we took to the Hearst people, and I gave it three and a half stars. But anyway, but nobody is going to go crazy over to, you know, kind of white trash girls from Dallas, you know what I mean? Just poor poor no money. But who work as waitresses nobody's going to care about them, because it's not they're not, you know, liberals from California, who who live in huge houses, and, and southern California and just Pat themselves on the back about how wonderful they are. So you know it it I don't know. I guess he never going back and don't even bother seeing book smart. I don't think smart is to me, it was sort of followed in the formula of what these male movies will like. And so to me, there wasn't really that much originality except you had to women do. Doing it, but I have to say there was one actress, not one of the leads so it was great. It was only Lord He's said. a said daughter. Everybody likes Philly Lord either. She is good. That's Carrie Fisher's daughter. How is this her first movie? I've never seen it. Other things. Smallest money for bigger parts, but she's been a lot of other things, including one of the Star Wars. Like, I think he was rogue nation could be one of those really. Mother was alive to be in, or we'll her mother wasn't in that, that was the one. I think it's the one where at the end a mother, they have the face of it wasn't. It was one of the satellite Star Wars. Okay. By the way, we left out one of the movies from this week. Well, we have, it's the toured movie to, to. Yes, I was waiting for that. Because now after Godzilla has left the building. I'm like, panicking because I hear this voice coming at me with guns and, and sweetness. It's called Ma Ma this Octavia Spencer. And it's, it's not really a horror movie. I don't know is har- everybody's calling it a horror thriller. But, but I don't know if it's har-, can you have a horror movie. That's not supernatural. I guess you can because that would be like a with James Caan and Kathy Bates misery. That's a horror movie. That's our movie. Yeah. Okay. Okay. So then, then this is then this is horror movie. This is a movie, I okay, I had the fun of watching this, and I'm saying some of this fa fa to people that they've heard this already. But for the rest of you, I saw this movie and for some reason, I was surrounded by teenagers, and it was a blast watching, they were going crazy. And there were laughing and all the right spots, and they were. Gasping every type something stupid happen, because this movie is deliberately. I mean, this movie is deliberately farfetched. It's not like trying to be realistic, and it's about, it's about this woman. What happens is that is that these kids ask a woman, just pick down the street, if she would buy liquor for them, just like in the old days and she said, and she talks some forbidden, she decides to do it, and this is active Spencer and. What happens is that they don't know. But she went to school with their parents. She had a very bad high school high school situation. And she has been brooding about this for thirty years. And so, and this is what's nice about activities Spencer's performance. She sees in this kid, these kids, one or the other thing, she sees them as an opportunity to have a second chance at high school, or if that doesn't work to take revenge on their parents, but doing terrible things to the kids and for a long time in the movie, she doesn't know which way it's going to go because she's crazy, she's crazy. And it's really fun activities. Spencer is a real actress. So she's playing this internal life for this woman. She also has a jazz, great face, and it's really fun to see that face b. Angry and crazy because it should just face changes just so completely from the smiling nice face that usually get. And she just she just seems nuts anyway. The film, the thing that the kids were screaming about, is that the kids keep on going back to MAs. House Ma is I think Ma is pretty much crazy. Fifteen minutes into the movie anybody would say, okay, we're not. We're not going to MAs house anymore. I mean, you would just say that there's no way. But of course, they keep on going back or else is no movie, but the tone of the movie is so extreme that it justifies anything, that's farfetched because it's not quite in a realistic convention. The other thing is that's why I'm not going to give you more details about it is that you kind of know what kind of movie this is going in, you know, why you wanna see it if you wanna see it, but what I like about this movie is that unlike a lot of these horror thrillers. Where basically they have one idea. It's like, you know, Santa clauses a serial killer. And that's the whole idea. You know, whatever it is, this movie even if you know, the kind of movie it is, you don't know how they're going to do it, because it is so extreme. It gets so awful, and it and so crazy so that I I'm very curious what the reviews, I think, some critics may say, oh, this is so Atlanta, it's I never know what other critics are going to say. I can never guess, but to me, that's what, that's what makes it you know, you walk out of everybody walked out of this saying, well, and then some people walked out saying, wow, that was no good. And then they took for half hour about how is no good and laughed and recreated the movie and they didn't realize that they loved it, and they're gonna go home and tell everybody about how bad it was. And, and in the way they describe how bad, it was, or the friends are going to go sit, you know, so, you know, it's possible that, that won't get the respect it deserves. But I think it may get the audiences because. I mean word of mouth has got to be good on a personal note is via Spencer is one of the nicest women you could ever met her. Yeah. She was doing almost beasts of the southern wild. I think it was one. She won the Academy Award for sh she when the can be what I thought for help, but the help that's what it was. And so she was there, and she actually sent one of the publicist I mean you have to understand these actors and actresses tend to treat their their, their publicist like, dirt. And she was just the opposite. And he said to me she sent me on beautiful stationary. A thank you know, and everything for helping me around. So she probably doesn't do that anymore. Just said that was that was the first that was a breakthrough movie. You know, a lot of these people they, they stopped being as nice as they were. But we'll hope not, you know, she made it as at a drone Bauge. She's at that age where these about the only park she's going to go. No, no on warm. No, I, I don't know if that's true or not. But I you know she's a character actor. She could work forever. No. I think that this is an opportunity to be the star of the movie, plus the type she's not the star of the movie even even even in the movie that she made the hidden Hidden Figures. Right. She was really the third lead. So she's very rarely the, the star and the same thing, actually with, with the help she wasn't delete chew on supporting actress that thinks you spurning actress to that. But anyway, she is great..

I kinda got the feel that they were like, you know, how they did would be VS, and they tried to cram too much in there. Oh, no. Oh, no. I'm worried that. That's what the path they're going down. Mecca godzillas gonna come and help in the middle. And in musical, I thought she was. The first trailer. There was a specific line unless all the titans are found because they're being referred to as titans. Yes. Yeah. It was like battle of classes or whatever. But it makes it sound like. Godzilla's not going to be like the only one that is good. Sure. Like, it's going to be an epic war with all these monsters. But I wonder whether gonna go with at lake unless they're all found which makes me think that it's going to be established that some of these like Lor history, you know, miss fables, whatever that to make it sound like like, yeah. Yeah. There's some kind of law between these monsters, but it seems to me like the probably going to like a bunch of bad ones might just come up. I mean like you oughta fucked up, and then Ono we have to find guys Zillah in mothra because even wasn't necessarily bad. Like if you take the spectrum between like lawful good and chaotic evil in like just like go for the four corners lawful. Good chaotic good, blah, blah, blah, you can fit pretty much all those monsters into one of those four. So I'm thinking it's going to be like we need the power of these things to help us save the world or at least mankind year because it gets us tablets that mankind's kind of fucked like they've already wiped out a whole bunch of them more. Yeah. No shots that they show. I think it's a Rodin flying over that CDs like sucking up people like debris and shit. And it's like, oh, yeah. We're fucked. So it makes me think it's going to be like battle of the colossus like just a bunch of giant musk. Like, it's going to be hide you it's going to be kind of standard Taizhou. Yeah. Which I'm totally night. Yeah. I got no big deal with that though. I now see I'm not fully versed in the Godzilla Lor per se, but I don't remember could any of them control the weather. Because there's a shot of the White House, and there's like tornadoes orange lightning and shit like typhoons, and I'm just like what is happening right now. I'm like who's causing all this. Right. That's what it is. I just figured it out. That's what it is. They're going to run out of his enemies for him to kill and Godzilla just going to start fighting hurricanes and like natural disasters and should be like the punch earthquake. Well, I mean, if what then said is got some validity to it where they're talking about their titans. The titans did control the. The elements. No, no, no. I don't think it's going to be necessarily that any of the titans or monsters, whatever, I should I refer to them as titans because I think with the movies going to go for, but I don't think. No. I think it's a matter of just a whole reason they come to be is because it was mentioned like any living creature. I guess in this case earth is looking to be a Senate living bean like like, we're parasites..

I was reading some theories online, and this would be a good movie to bring out like if they're going to do a storyline where the humans might be kind of the enemy King Kong fight. And then they're going to team up eventually against the common threat, the humans that are fucking causing. All this be surprised if we saw mecca. Meko Godzilla or a mecca King Kong. So how they explain his size size is the other thing. I'm wondering he's thirty four years road. Basically, listen, this is. Monster movie science, right, which is not really Godzilla can't really exist. He would collapse under his own weight. Right. So King Kong in skull island is young. And they said that he's only going to get bigger. So there you got this. We gotta wait till twenty twenty. That's all you need for God's vs. Godzilla? King of the monsters is coming out before made King County bigger in that movie. Anyway, they did. Been King Kong films king of the monsters. It's coming up next year. It's still weird for me that Keno monsters coming out this year, wait twenty twenty. And And then it's then it's still still. a big fan again. Con comes after king Godoria mothra, but it'd be the other way around like Godzilla. King Kong is not strong like not as strong most famous team up those three. Should be going to be. Tag team Anthony tag team. Be mothra and Godzilla vs road in Kong. No, sorry monsters. I think he's going to be tag team. And then I in there's definitely going to be like a BBS where they're going to fight for like five minutes. And then something else is going to come into the cake. It's at Martha too. Squeeze in a Martha joke. Oh. Mothra? That's it because I was gonna ask what if in God's versus cong- some of the kaija from king of the monsters, maybe are still around the crossover like maybe a cameo, but it should be both rod because they both go through. Fighting. Humans. We got one thing I'm interested in seeing those plots and up season in seeing the trailer for the king of the monsters. They keep talking about the titans having affect on like, weather and stuff like the planet the planet. By by us trying to get rid of these things that fucks with the planet. I'm just trying to figure out how they're tying this all in together. What weird pseudoscience I love in that trailer. How you just see like epic storms and post the puck elliptic style shit like the planets puck in freaking out. The weather's going crazy or is it because we're destroying the planet that these titans are coming out this stop us. Now, they've named them titans to they can't use because Pacific rim. You know? The mood owes. They're not Muto's anymore. Titans. Call the titans tenants. Does it remind you the shitty DC night. Just means monster. Trying to make it more. Majestic. So I appreciate that. Eighty. "What an extraordinary riveting performance just create you. So I was going to ask you about what it's like to be in a quarter, the only young man among three young ladies, but the very name of your quartet comes from a makeover they gave you before concert. Yes. Interesting story to tell. A few summers ago Mosher Nellie ni- we were part of a summer some with like a bunch of really talented tennis, and we've got to play with one of them in a chamber concert and before had started to mess around much like all these all the members just like decided to do makeup on my face. So it's a bunch of glitter and what do they call it? Mascara eyeliner whatever they call that. And I'm not sure if it's like part of my self for we just didn't have enough time, but I ended up not taking it up for the concert. So I just went on stage. It's just like some clown makeup on and. Hence the name, the Geomar French and French for diamond sparkles. That's why it looked like on dignified. Dignified more dignified name than quartet bling or something. Yeah. Masha winning. The fish off is very big deal, but you guys didn't start off as a particularly ambitious group. Is that right? Yeah. We were all friends and orchestra at midwestern artists conservatory and. In the fall of twenty fifteen. We were just like, hey, we love to, let's just get together and play some music. So we had no ambition, we didn't plan on doing competitions or anything. We just wanted to make music together. But we did end up applying for the fish off competition and we didn't even expect to get it. We were like, whatever. We'll try and see what happens. But we got in at that point. We were like, okay, we've already gotten so far. We just need to go out there and have fun. So as to competition, we got past the quarter-finals pass a semi finals into the finals. And the finals actually only have three groups, which means that we already won something whether it was for second or third place. So at that point we were like, we already got one of the three prize and that's a huge deal. So let's just go out there and play our hearts out. Then describe your reactions. Announcing the bronze and silver in the gold. It was crazy to say the least kind of going back step. I think as Marshall singer, like when we found out we were going to the finals like she said, we either get bronze, silver or gold. And before we went onstage kind of just realized that, honestly, we could just go on stage like scream and vile and walk off and still end up with bronze. So that was kind of reassuring for us. But as they were announcing. The bronze, and it wasn't us, and we were like, oh my gosh, like we got silver, that's raising like us right. The Silver Group in it wasn't us, and I think kind of between all four of us kind of have the same reaction just like, oh my gosh, they knock you out goals. Like what slick. They called our name. Gold words. Can't describe the feelings that came about. Hedley said it was kind of like we were screaming on the inside and crying on the outside. Rebecca, I guess you couldn't even bask in your glory or were screaming, whatever happened. So right after we received our medals, we were rushed off stage had to run back instruments and run back on stage to perform at a winter's concert in like ten minutes that was broadcast live on TV. You guys are prime time for sure. Performance extraordinary. Congratulations on the wind. Thank you so much for being with us quartet diem. All Chicago area. "Well known part of toronto so obviously a great shock to the community mothra is a glorious sunny day here spring day it's been a long winter in canada and people were getting a chance to get out in the sunshine after a long winter hibernation it was very crowded it was lunchtime then the eyewitness reports absolutely horrific of people being hit highspeed people being targeted one stroller flying into the air and in ten people have been killed and that was far west the nearly indications nick bryant many thanks twenty one minutes to seven let's go to our technology correspondent rory kathryn jones who's found out something interesting about facebook what they've been up to rory carrying out research into targeting visit people according to their personality yes this is the controversial area code psychic graphics may controversial really because the political consultancy cambridge boasted that it had used it in president trump's campaign although of course denied that it used facebook data but i've seen evidence that facebook did quite extensive research into this area in fact filed a patient a payton fouled by to employees that facebook describes how personality characteristics could i be determined by looking at people's messages their status updates you could find out things like the emotional stability and then you could according to this patent you put that information in their facebook profile their social media profile and target adverts at them or other content accordingly using that it's not legal obviously yeah i mean this this is research that a lot of people were doing and they they the researchers at at facebook i've seen emails between them and cambridge university researchers who are well known to be looking at this area eighties controversial now facebook it must be said insists that yes it is statement peyton yes there were two surveys undertaken all facebook users but came to nothing and it was abandoned and it was never put into practice any of its products.
