"Only focusing my attention on mommy denison business and growing that and i've decided to The pivot and avenue calling and it was time. I was getting signs. It was just time for me to move on And i'm really happy with the decision. That i made and i was able to sell my two practices to another Private pediatric dentists with that are two partners and do not use a broker I just was able to do it on my own. and it. it came out wonderfully. And i'm very pleased while so you just walk me through that whole process from the moment you decided to to sell both of them right. You said yes. Ma'am so scary isn't it. is i. Guess the scary thing to be like. Hey this isn't the main source of mine income You know honestly. I'm not scared of it. I feel like. I'm in a place. Where fortunately i am not financially strapped So i can. I can do this. You know and have to be following My passion have to be treated myself. And i felt like i have the opportunity. Why not take it. And i get to spend more time with the kids and i i miss it but i'm also really looking or two am excited about just focusing attention on mommy. Denison business and growing at god. How did your team take it. When did you let them know. How far in advance did you let them know. I didn't i told them. After the fact and it was something i decided to do. Just because i was in i was one hundred percent. Sure if it was gonna happen and you never know until the contractor or the green at signed and when the money hits your account. So i didn't want to tell them because sometimes deals blow up at the last minute and why get them upset or nervous. If it didn't pull through so i told them later after after it will happen. How did he take it. We're in shock. A lot of them had depressed a lot of different emotions going from shock. Sad halley angry upset disappointing. Ed hurt i mean. I think a lot of them were hurt by my decision because i didn't tell him advanced but You know i told them why and they understood. And you know i in my opinion in any job. Any office. setting. Everyone's replaceable including the doctor. I replaced myself so The emotions were very mixed and I'd have to say that like we're still processing it. You know it's still. Fresh coverage is couple of weeks ago. You said right so september fourth is when we closed it was right after labor day. Weekend okay right before labor day weekend. Okay in your last day happened already or not yet. Yeah no i. I basically decided well not decided i asked you know the new owners if they needed me to stay and they said no and i said okay so they didn't want me to are needing to stay and i basically built the practices so that they would run themselves. And that had already transitioned a lot of my patients over to my associates and You know when you have a business model where you're not seeing patients in your associates are are the ones working you can sell it faster and you're not you don't have as many like bound freezer like any ties and so i felt that it was a good decision and we. We've done so then you. How long did you own these two practices for the i owned four eleven years. But mind you. I was about an associate for four years everywhere. I mean i had in that for years. I had three or four jobs in different offices. I at one point lived in california newport beach and business associate fair on. So i was i. Highly recommend people were before they take on ownership. Because there's a lot to learn. And when i was opening up my practice i mean i was ready to go. I really just was ready and that practice you know. We celebrated eleven years in august and the second practice is almost six years old in december So yeah fan for. Wow wow okay. So then i mean you said you created the systems in the business models that so they're not dependent on you grind. Did you start making that transition or did you always know how to do that. Did you always know like growing your practice is like i know exactly how to you know what i mean like not be dependent on me or when did you start switching. What was the main systems. You implemented rear like oh this is gonna affect me in the long run in a positive way before i opened my practice It was always a goal. It was always my goal that i would have businesses that ran without me and i always you know for example like while you don't see the founder of subway making sandwiches every day you don't see the founder of united airlines on airplane everyday working it. You don't see the ceo and finder founder of mcdonalds flipping burgers every day And they may have at one point don it you know by for me. I started industry. You know when. I was eighteen. And i worked every job in the office. I mean i did it all. I learned every single area. You know and i know job was beneath me. I mean i did everything from running out the garbage cleaning bathroom answering phones. Filing insurance filing folders you know back then there was not visual you pull charts pouring model sterilization girl working my way up to cheer site assistant working the front desk. I mean i did everyday working a marketing with the doctors. Working on Lunch lunch and learns advertising going and doing offs of gift baskets and i. I learned every single looking. Grammy of the dental office Being front desk as well. Which front desks you for. A lot of tennis is a mystery. And when you don't have that experience it's a disadvantage to you as a business owner a set out the goal of being like i wanna have businesses that run without eventually but i knew that in the beginning with me i needed to be the one producing. I need to be the brand. I need to be the marketing person you know. I needed to build enough patience to support multiple doctors and my goal. Was you know by the time. I can hester family a wanted to be able to have associates seeing my patients so that i could be home you know during maternity leave and not worry and that was really the turning point because now my patients had to see doctors you know they always requested me after only dockery. I'm only but you know what dr mature doctrine comes on maternity. You have the other doctor okay. And then once they got used to. That i started to wean down my schedule. You is to work six days a week. I used to work. Monday through saturday I had a really strong work ethic and even now like you know. We only take two two weeks off one in the summer one in the winter. It's not because it's not designed. Because i want i don't wanna take more. It's that is just alley Young yeah but now it's like now it's like you know what my thirties was the most dynamic decade of of my life. You know. I'm forty four and i look at my thirties. My thirties is one. I built my empire walk the walk. Talk the talk..

"Shady. Not a criminal. Secret lives of dentists. Keeping here. It's okay. Bear all know. You did mention on the really important their ways to participate. I mean, clearly I tell a lot of the folks that I consult with in different industries as well as the students that I teach and mentor that you know, view their ways on Facebook to keep certain things private, and then there are groups that you can participate in where you can show who you are in participate. So that is something to keep in mind that is a comfort zone and also has a dentist like any of professional in in business or company. There are ways to participate. There are guidelines people to help you that you can also put in place on your bombs or in your Facebook communities a. So there's, there's a lot of things that you can do, but grace use special. Really and quickly have created a sort of your own channels and may could talk about the launch of your Facebook group, mommy dentists, business, and your podcast, and how those cake debate share at ducktail. You know, when I felt really comfortable about like where my businesses have gotten too, as far as growth, I really wanted to bond with other colleagues in for me because I'm younger kids, five and three years old in running biz to offices. I husband travels quite a bit. Find it really difficult to attend meetings and to meet other Dennis in to professional meetings. I still I go, but I would like to go to more, but I just physically can't. So I thought will what a great way would it be if I created a group? Like if I'm part of a book club, I might as well have another club of my own of other. Moms like myself. I just wanted to combat ary Seattle. Like about a year ago, I launched mommy Denison business on Facebook, and it's basically a closed group for women like me to share best practices and it doesn't even have to dental related. It could be about our moms successes in our mommy failures. You know, like to save snow, it's a Sikh soon to be real and to be able to say, hey, you know what, today I, you know, showed up to my kids dermatology -pointment on the wrong day time or. We will showed up to. Snow, it's just kind of being able to, or you know, my dental assistant. She just quit in dinky tweaks notice. Can someone help me out, you know. So I, it's been great. Like it's just been a great channel communication in platform. We can all help each other as moms and as business owners. And I think that those two hats alone, shoulder responsibility, man is something that sometimes people can't identify with if you're just one, not the other. I think it's hard for other people to relate in union to be a woman. You know, you be a man, but if you're different fields or different things, there's only so much sympathy and moderate. So this group has been great. It's global, you know, one thing I wanna share. That's really cool. Was that one mom who lives in London? She like, got the perfect. Hot like on the sidewalk where the Royal wedding was marching through hokey, and she took the girls him into right in the face, and we saw the horses marching through, and then we saw the carriage where Prince Harry garnell sued figure she was doing live video streaming, so everybody could see it. So what she didn't do the like she just kinda recorded in then posted it. So cool by it was so cool because it was an awesome moment that you didn't see on television. You know, like it was through another lens. It was too of real person that is enjoying the moment. And I was like, how cool is that that we have members of the group that live in other countries, Becca cheer their experiences, and it's it's almost like a sisterhood. So it's been, it's been fantastic. His fantastic. Awesome. So you worldwide. Through that group, you are doing Facebook laws, and we'll also have your your podcast to. Yes. So the pack is been really great and I am like the what does that call when you're like the the forever like learner, like I could go to school Studi.
