Lakers' Drummond Shows Promise Against the Heat

"Andre Drummond, but we've only seen him up until tonight. We only see him for 14 minutes in purple and gold and he got hurt and against the Milwaukee now here he is back tonight twenty seven minutes. That's a lot of minutes 549 from the field 12 boards three assists two steals. No blocks three turnovers five thousand but fifteen points off of 6 from the Line run. Let's start with you. What good and bad. What did you like and dislike about what we saw out of Andre Drummond tonight? And and what do you think about him moving forward? Yeah, so I mean we we talked about it during the game. I texted you guys that basically if he can work on just catching the ball firmly the first time he touches it and not bottling it and get it get swiped around he's going to be incredible. He I mean look fifteen points and 12 rebounds two steals. He did have three turnovers, but I think two of them were in the office like two minutes of the game when again he was like bobbling the ball all places and couldn't get it a hold of it. He'd Butterfingers for the first like five minutes of the game, but once he settled down and just it's one of those things he just accepted the role that he's in he did not try to do too much. He didn't take any of those bad like dumb hook shots that he's known for he didn't try to do any of that stuff. He just played his game. He got rebounds wage jumped the ball and he had some pretty good passes to I mean I point Drummond is an interesting concept.

Bucks Fastbreak: Milwaukee wraps up 6-game road trip

"Was a big deal. The timing of the turnovers, I think also adds to, uh, you know, the collective loss here and frustration. You know, you look at your holidays deadline. It wasn't as clean as others. That lines for him during this road trip for this season was not a great night for your holiday candidly. Three turnovers is not. I wouldn't say it's backbreaking, but Did they all came in the fourth quarter. Two. Maybe in three or four possessions at a time where the bucks were still clinging there, Justin looking like okay, Here we go. It Z leader starting to grow. We'll just knock it down a shot here and you'll be fine. But they were. I want to say it was two and three or four possessions right away in that fourth quarter that helped contribute to the mass running away. So juiced that line not pretty tonight. Three turnovers, but to it a really critical moment I thought in the game in the fourth was having kind of a tipping point for me one of many things but really stands out when those happen in the fourth quarter.

Does Lebron James Deserve More MVP Awards?

"Let me tell you what. Lebron james is notorious for a other than skipping town. Go to another team other than that you know what. He's famous for taking his foot off the gas to a regular seasons when he went back to cleveland. You remember that he was like i don't mean to have the number one seed. I don't need to kill myself during the regular season. that's why he didn't win. Mvp's he undersea deserve to have more last year. Janas was the mvp unwanted convincingly and overwhelmingly. Why bernie 'cause the year before. John is wanted and lashio. Jonah's had better numbers than the year before. And the milwaukee bucks had the best record in the nba. Lebron james was really shocked because he had some false narrative going on that he was the mvp. Come on bernie has some humility. You don't have to do that. Politics will knock it you an. Mvp saying goes true. Greatness needs no self promotion. And we've talked about this probably at least once in every show we've done robin that is lebron is incredibly insecure about his legacy. If he's really the king what is he. Allow these things to get under his skin. He did it last. September when he lost out on the mvp then he says well. What really pisses me off. Allie got sixteen votes out of. That's what really pisses me up. Look if you want to continue to die in this hill lebron. You're going to continue to be seen as petty and al kuzina says the mvp's very political award. Yeah so is the mvp and major league baseball in the nfl. Probably the nhl and the heisman trophy right on down the line. Linda brown goes on to say. I don't sit around thinking about it or crying about it. That's what he just said that's all. He does time even when they won the championship last year and i gave him top credit. Lebron fan never will be better given top credit. Because the lakers are a franchise of eras you had to wilt air the jabbar air the magic the kobe and shaq era negative lebron air to win a championship and when he did the first thing he does say i want my damn respect do what he. What are you constantly begging for. What exactly is it. What happened in because you know why bernie it tells you all you need to know. He knows deep down. He's not the best player all time he knows his michael jordan. That's why it's always looking for these other things to add to his resume. That's why he he wants an mvp and you know what he sees now. He seems j. He sees james harden in brooklyn without a kevin durant and they've won fourteen out of fifteen or whatever the number is bernie and and he's looking going and when a went out to lakers stumbled he's not going to win the

Most Intriguing Trade Deadline Teams with Bobby Marks

"To the low post podcast on a friday morning where we are six days away from the trade deadline but some trades of already happened. People are acting early. Miami acquired trevor ariza and the bucks made a very interesting move to acquire. Pj tucker but there's much left to do even on boring trade deadline's are never actually boring. Lots of stuff happens to help. Us preview are insider are cap expert former longtime nets executive. The one and only bobby marks how are you. I'm good zach. How're you. And i already had my usually about a week out from the trade. I start having nightmares in the middle of the night. And i did my first nightmare last night. That woke me up about four o'clock that A fictitional trade of paul george in kyle lowry to the nets for curry irving and i woke up thinking like how in the heck is at work cap wise but the person in my dream that i talked to said. Hey don't worry about it. Works and i was like check my phone right off. The bat at four thirty in that did not happen. That is that is really sad. I had a dream last night. That four of my friends in their families were quarantining at a former. I hop that still had all the i hop like syrup and technology to be a functioning and they were having lots of pancakes in great meals and i wanted to go visit them. This is what. I was dreaming about six days before the train then. I woke up very hungry. Bunny dream will probably more likely to happen than cholera. Paul george and brooklyn possibly. What did it before we start. What did you think of the bucks acquiring j. tucker in a deal of of minor draft assets. I would say yeah. I mean it was creative. I thought that you know the milwaukee because it hard cap and based on the picks going in that drew holiday trade really had limited options to go out and do it but they go under the milwaukee goes under the Luxury tax gives them flexibility on a hard cap houston from their front office with the draft. Picks i don't think it would have been able to do it if They didn't have that two thousand twenty second from the hardened trade. That was the box. Essentially that they got from jarrett for From cleveland jared allen. But i had never really seen a team basically swapping a first for a second and then tr trade back that two thousand twenty second and you move back a year in the draft so it was creative from from both sides. And you'll see what brand. Pj tucker we get in milwaukee because he has not been. He hasn't been great this year at all and is it just the level of interest of a houston team that has taken on major water. And do we get to see the pj tucker from the previous years. But it gives milwaukee a lot of different options as far as lineups that they can. They can roll out there with him.

Philadelphia Sixers Blow 19-Point Lead In 109-105 Overtime Loss To Milwaukee Bucks

"Nine sixers one five in overtime how this game overtime layup. Instead of dribbling out it could've taken that one yard bought david chen losing it on defense but in overtime it was y- honest and it was johnny sitting on the sixers courts. Ramona you have a problem with sitting down on the sixers four. Oh i've never seen before and this is a nice. Is it nice. Move like the bucks are kind of disregarding team in the eastern conference even though they ran away with it but like the last seven points or you want to run to close the game so i think for is go ahead and sit on the court take arrest degree breather and i did kind of his tweet at the end of the gate where he said like. Sit back and enjoy the show. If anybody's fans should appreciate that. It is joel. Embiid philadelphia seventy sixers fan. Cal shaw the only thing i have a problem with is celebrating beating philadelphia without their. Mvp candidate with him sitting over on the bench in street clothes. It's just you know. Would philadelphia be celebrating if they beat the bugs without you us. I don't know. I don't think that would be a big deal either. They had to come from behind. They made a nice comeback. I like milwaukee like holiday being added to the team. But but. I don't think this was a big win for them. And we kaplan i just think it's a little rich to hear philadelphia complain about janas doing this when he literally stole a book out of joel. Embiid's playbook giuliani. Does this stuff all the time. But this is one of those rare games. It was a win for both of them. I mean the sixers came in second half of back to back without embiid. They held the Bucks to their worst first half the entire season and then you have the books. They have their worse first half of the entire season and they've resilient and they wants us out of it and that's a win for them to i don't think this is t o celebrating on dallas star. But it is something you know. Yana said he's having fun. And i'm all for having fun but sit down. Phillies court and then taking a photographer's cameras snapping pictures blowout win vs india last month. He's having a lotta fun at the expense of is eastern conference rivals in it and as an unofficial historian of nba pettiness. I'm all for it but pump the brakes you be without without embiid. They blew a nineteen point lead. You almost blew the game at the end of it yourself. So this game looked and felt like a playoff game because you know what you gotta be careful doing stuff like this because you might see him again. You don't want to spend into the win too many times ramona and but the best part about this was the white house and he wanted to goes down. Yeah

"milwaukee" Discussed on Slate's Hang Up and Listen

"If this is stereotyping. I haven't i think there might be some truth to it but we should talk it out. Is that when you have an international player whether it's like jaanus or dirk maybe like luca and the future. It seems to me like this might be an opportunity for like a smaller market team to get a guy when he's younger who who doesn't necessarily he wants to play in. The nba doesn't necessarily like be fixated on like new york or la and then from a marketing perspective. I don't know if like people janas an international superstar. Do people really care whether he's in milwaukee versus like a market city and like. It's the first place he's ever like. Spend a lot of time in the us so it makes sense to me that a guy who grew up in greece is going to be like milwaukee seems like a pretty great place to be a good place for my family whereas somebody who grows up in the us maybe more familiar with other places in america might have more wanderlust. Does that make sense. It makes sense to me. I mean i'm trying to think. Now of an example of a european player who had to switch from a smaller market to a bigger market to satisfy whatever personal drive ego marketing perception marketing reality And i'm of striking out. I mean dirk is a perfect parallel. Well he's the guy who has the record for most twenty one seasons for the same franchise. Let's four get forced to the lakers. Right he he didn't. He didn't force his way to the lakers. Right he was just. He got traded a bunch of times. I don't get the sense that he was a guy who was like you have to. I mean it's also a smaller sample of international players who would have had the power and ability to like force themselves in any market. Just spent i mean. Maybe we'll see that in the future. Jaanus is a different kind of human clearly. This feels like a guy that is eternally grateful for the things that happened to him. I mean he was. He and his family were illegal in greece. They were treated like shit as i mentioned by the government. He didn't start playing basketball until he was thirteen. He was selling fake watches on the street in central athens and five years later he was spotted by a couple of scouts and agents and he ends up getting drafted when he was playing for the second team for his club in greece getting drafted into the nba one of the other deering quotations from jaanus. After he signed was that he consulted his mom constantly during the process. I talked to my mother asks her. Did she want to move. She said no so. I said okay cool. I'm just going to sign the deal. Then this is the place. I wanna be a. He said this is my home. This is my city. I wanna represent a walk in. I wanna do this for the next five years. And i think that's just who this guy is. He is naive in some ways just the way he comes off like a kid like he's really genuine. I mean these wonderful clips on youtube of him. Singing the greek national anthem with fans after games with his brother and stuff. I don't see this as sort of someone who was. There was calculating like new york. Miami l. a. new york miami la that. I think there's a genuineness to his personality. That influenced this. I sort of see that maybe i. I don't think that you get to be great in basketball without becoming more calculating and more aware of your growing power and i think it's i do think that there's some truth. Janas is grateful to milwaukee but also that it's advantageous for him to have people believe that he is so grateful to milwaukee and that is that he believes sticking with the small market team. Like i think that that's like really good marketing. Bf like he was like anthony. Davis and the. Pelicans could never put a good roster around and keep in mind. It wasn't but about a decade ago. The kevin durant was signing an extension with the oklahoma city thunder it. Everybody was like see. That's the anti lebron. He wanted to reopen stay with the thunder and it was supposed to herald a new it was the antidote to lebron and the player empowerment movement. Then he left but the one thing we since. We're sort of talking to this out a little bit. That i do think that him being a foreign born player may help is that he didn't grow up knowing any of these guys. You know what. I mean so like he he did he play. He was playing ball in greece when all of his peers are playing at the nike peach jam. Or you don't have a mutt verde academy was playing against o. Kill so he. He's sort of new to like elite american basketball culture so it wouldn't necessarily mean that he would have a desire at team up like collided with paul. George or lebron did with anthony davis because he got here on his own he charted his own course in ebay. Say i've had a lot of success with this. Why do i need to team up with anybody else. A foreign born player effectively. What i'm saying is that might have a different approach to our rings culture and superstar team culture like he may just feel this way for now. he's also rejected the opportunity to get closer to these players. Now when he's on their level like he's declined chances to work out with the you know lebron's a the world's in the off season and but it's a really good point jal about durant thing and how this is going to get slotted into this like. Oh he's a good person. And like an antidote to all the like these these greedy players who just want to leave and win championships. Which i think he doesn't deserve and the other players don't deserve to have him kind of typecast that over-simplified sort of way i do feel like if the bucks weren't good then it would be better for him or make more sense for him to leave he's also got a player option in this deal and he could force a trade like next year if he if he wanted to and and maybe he will and so..

"College football championship. Weekend open with the team oregon. The didn't win either. The pac twelve north or pac twelve south becoming the pac twelve champion and it was a fitting result in a season defined by a haphazard if not reckless response to the corona virus and the sports final weekend more than a third of the scheduled games were cancelled including the sun belt conference championship game but at the games that were played this past weekend things largely went according to plan the favorite one in every league title game. With the exception of seven point. Underdog san jose state over boise state in the mountain west. Shout out spartans. That run of chocolate. We got the college football playoff bracket we largely expected clemson verse ohio state in one semifinal and top seeded alabama against notre dame after they would treat it like hose in the acc championship game. And though some people argued about it on tv really notre dame walking away with the final playoff. Berth over texas am also engaging in some host behavior about as predictable as northwestern as offense. So josh your favorite team will be thrown as the reigning national champions in the coming weeks. I'll they don't act like hose about it. Do you think the playoff committee got it right yesterday. That dethroning happened a very long time. I guess it's official now but bill connolly had a good calm about this for. Espn dot com on monday. Saying in a vacuum. The committees for picks are totally defensible. That they're actually now twenty-eight for twenty eight in the history of the playoffs in terms of making defensible selections and yet it's ultimately unsatisfying playoff and he thinks so too because there's this whole set of teams the group of five teams the smaller conference teams. However you want to call them. That have no chance of competing for championships. No matter what they do which is maybe a unique condition in all of sports all over the world to have this group that's extensively in the competition. That's not really in the competition. They're not in like a lower level or another league. They're there but they just have no realistic shot of playing for title. And we're going to get to this conversation more. Broadly later in the show about pandemic era changes in all of sports but college football. It's like at once doing the most random shit you have like everybody like operating under different rules and playing different numbers of games and all the stuff and at the same time it's just like reverting to all of its all habits in a season win if you're ever gonna put a team like cincinnati and undefeated non power conference team and this is the year to do it and that i think stephan is the ultimate frustration. Here is that college. Football is just always itself like no matter when kind of given this opportunity to be like you know what this is a year when we don't really know who the best teams are like. Nobody really played each other. Because the non conference season got cancelled. Like if you look at the advanced analytics like cincinnati is definitely competitive with these other teams like why not. Just throw them in there and see how they do and like. Obviously that's not gonna happen. We gotta six zero ohio state and like notre dame. They got run off the field. They've got to have their shot to expect college football to have done anything different. Josh is to play the role of charlie brown here holding the football. I mean there's no way that they were gonna put cincinnati and there's no way that they were going to seriously consider any of the other undefeated teams who were the other. Unbeaten teams san jose coastal carolina san jose. There's no way they're going to cancel big money. Non conference games. There's no way that you know we're gonna have ohio. State only played six games all year. There's no way that they're going to be fans. Not in the stands and stuff. We never thought would happen. This happen this year right. But given the those cases they were their hands were forced by circumstances whether it was local health ordinances or logic. I mean a rare intrusion of i. Well they really didn't have much choice. I mean where having football teams travel across the country to play. Non conference games was wasn't even tenable to them. Which shows you how how drastic the circumstances but in this ultimate moment when the most money was on the line the only reason any of this happened was because of the money like they were gonna leave notre dame out to put cincinnatian. I mean come on. Who are we. Kidding can make an argument that three of the four teams in the finals have issues. I mean clemson were frigging jerks about cove. Ed we're not gonna make ethical decisions about whether to include someone college ladders true friends and will not be in the playoffs because they were. I mean ohio state played six games. Notre dame got blown out in his last game of the season but which four teams are likely to draw the most eyeballs to television screens on january first to help salvage some of the advertising revenue. That college sports has lost. These are the four teams that we're going to do that right. And i think nicole orbach at the athletic headed right about a week ago when she called it an invitational you know we think of it as a playoff but this is really more of an invitational and in that way you know college. Football largely selected the right teams. They wanted for the tv programming. They wanted to broadcast the rest of america. Get outta me like you could argue. Alabama clemson earned their way in. I guess right but ohio state really did. They had to bend the rules for ohio state to even play in its conference championship game. And then they ended the rules again for them so that they'll have enough players for a playoff game right so ohio state has this large brandon huge following though translates well. Tv and. of course. I mean notre dame is probably the most famous college football program in the country so if there was any way that they could get them they did it and so they picked a playoff bracket that has a lot of appeal but is it fair in representative of the possibility and diversity of the fbs bill. Obviously not we talked about coastal carolina. Cincinnati and san. Jose state never had a shot in. God forbid would if you had one on. Friday over oregon. That'd been another undefeated major conference team that did not have a shot essentially getting into the playoffs because of perceptions about them rather as opposed to what they actually did on the field. Josh let me ask you this like i wrote about this in two thousand and three after two lane went undefeated and the denial of opportunity. You pronounce tulane disrespectful. How should i pronounced it. Well just the way that you said. Could you believe that lane. That's exactly the that's exactly. The intent is trying to convey things have changed on the margins over the years but the college football powers are still so entrenched that. I'm i'm surprised that you thought that there was a better chance. This year that they would invite one of the lesser schools in there is to this invitation. Joel correctly describes it. Put it this way. Let's imagine i'm not saying that this happened. But let's imagine that there is a conspiracy from inside the committee room and also we should just do a sidebar to say. How ridiculous is it that the committee actually met in person right. It's like oh logic here. I'm going to my stephan fats. As logic suggested country to play games. And so you have all these like dude. Just go travel and meet up in a conference room to just sit next to each other watching tv. I mean that must have. That is probably the dumbest thing that's happened in college football year. And that's like a major competition in the end. Allow the the members of the community to stay home if they chose largely. Because louisa thomas our friend was was complaining about it on twitter and so this this was like a self selected group of of of genus decided. The only the only way to make this election is to go in person and set next next to people watching tv anyway. Let's imagine that there's a conspiracy in the committee room among a group of people that wants to expand the college football playoff teams. Or maybe even sixteen..

"Out bringing drew. Holiday inn at is a huge upgrade. But i don't know if mike budenholzer is the coach. That's going to help them. Get over the hump and i still have questions about jaanus in the postseason when you watch yohannes against the miami heat and they build that wall and jimmy. Butler is on ambassador. Bios on them. I just don't know even with this. Move over the last couple of weeks if they have enough on the roster right now. I've always loved honest. I think he can get better. Chris middleton is a hell of a player but unless holiday can raise the level of his game to a different point than we've seen. I still don't know if milwaukee can both get in to the finals out of the east and then get whoever comes out of the west. And that's really such an important point about getting to the finals at all because kevin durant is in the conference now. That's just a game changer. Right so if kevin durant turns into the kevin durant of old and he's got kyrie irving with him. And also when you talk about recruiting guys keri k. d. or trying to recruit agents and guys to come play in brooklyn and milwaukee of course a small market. But janas is a big draw. I would want to put. That guy is going to be a challenge. And you've of course then have a gauntlet in the west with all the strength out there as well we will see. Here's what i know the part that's on janas to get better himself the way nick. You're talking about. I have faith that that will happen. And then we'll have to see where the chips fall. Let's move onto james harden though guys because his saga with the rockets still there Yesterday are tim. Macmahon published a really interesting piece with some behind the scenes details rockets.

"City remember. We used to talk about them. We don't talk about the you know they don't have russ they don't have katie and they don't have heart. That's just how this game works is so when you look at that list. That's probably ten or eleven of the top twenty players in the entire. Nba changed teams over the last couple of years. Anthony davis realized that he wasn't gonna get it done with the pelicans so he let them know that. Hey i want to go to l. n. Team and kevin durant splash brothers to go to the nets and we know. Lebron is the person as a superstar. Modern air actually usher that in. Today's today's game shows the player that you can necessarily. You don't have to necessarily be law to one teammate. Team or franchise you kind of get your money on and off the floor. Top dollar plus go to a market you really wanna play and they hope to win a ring and i see nothing wrong with that like you love dame loyalty to portland like you love it. That he wants to stay there his whole career and you want to do the same. You want your honest assigned right now. Commit to six years of being milwaukee but you mentioned something that's very important happiness have you. Honest is unhappy with his teammates. This situation in his roster what have you. Honest is frustrated by losing. And not getting over the hump. What if he doesn't like the way. The coach bud sets up his defense and very effective for the regular season. Maybe not so much for the postseason. If he's unhappy why should he stay loyal. Why should he stay if he's not happy. And there's no reason for him to sign an extension right now that exact same contract. The exact same contract is available to him after the season. So why wouldn't he play this season. See how it goes. See how drew holidays the fit and then make his decision later and if he's not happy with the way that they're going ahead and switch teams is not even about ring chasing it's about happiness chasing what is wrong with trying to be happy jacoby. Let me give you a few examples. I.

"Come true to be an intern for the Pistons. As you grow and you around it and you see them work every day and you start to actually understand what it means to be in fun office in in professional sports you start learning things and try to pick up things and observe people and there's many things that I learned from Joe in early on for sure new off. I'm going to do this. I can't be Joe all the reasons you just said the things that I could do. I thought I could do that. Joe was amazing at is. He has amazing tact he. He has a mazing composure employs and he's incredibly intelligent. And Yon that had this presence that I'll never build a match that he carried with all that and that's why he's the great executive give they he is quite frankly But his his poise in his patients in tact in his timing Really been unmatched in in something. Something I learned from him early on and is really a pleasure to work with a guy like that in a franchise you just mentioned that back to back. NBA Finals. I think six straight Eastern Conference finals six hundred fifty. When when seasons you Rochester College in Michigan you decided to spend a summer on campus? You had to get a part time job and and you did what every year that. I was Russia Scott. I had to get a part time job To to stay at Rochester College my first year I went into the newspaper when in the newspaper jobs and there was one that they were paying twelve bucks an hour. I'm like that's that's a lot of money in. It happened to be at a trailer park so I quickly became the head maintenance guy at a trailer park making twelve dollars an hour and they let me work. Basically as many hours I need to or could all summer it. It's funded my college year for the next four years after that. I work every summer at the trailer park in in maintenance and H- you can imagine what maintenance means and in what what what does maintenance in a trailer park. I mean from from lawn care to a site. PREP IN POURING CONCRETE to cleaning out the the trailers after people have visited to painting to Shingling to just kind of on and on and on and so I grew up in a kind of a farming background around my family. I came from a family that that farmed. I grew up in a small community Parents that that renovated homes Probably every three or four years I lived in seven different homes uh-huh in the same community kind of growing up because we're flipping houses to kind of afford houses and so I luckily knew how to do a lot of those things. I actually enjoyed doing a lot of things that now. It's hard to find time to do anything with my hands in a handyman. But I I like it when I can but what was the worst thing you came across in a trailer a trailer home that had been abandoned victim. A family moved out. What was the worst thing you saw? Just I would just say if you've ever watched the show hoarders right like it's real and and trailers are smaller in in confined areas and just mess a lot of people's awesome personal stuff and just go in there with the mask on in garbage bags and just start throwing stuff out was quite an experience quite humbling experience. But something I'm grateful for I I mean I I got paid really well to do it literally did allow me to stay in college. I spent a summer as a custodian at a middle school and one of the jobs was was a take a razor blade and go through all the desks and you had to scrape the gun. All off the bond with I never ever put gum under a desk again. You don't do that. Someone's gotTa scrape it off. That was There's no jobs to have like him. Better go to school. I can't that's right. I'm not what I'm not built to work a real job that's right and I still haven't so But the idea of sort of getting your arms around all the responsibilities fonts abilities. I like Sam said this to me. Once in this way is like there's a reason they call it general manager like the word emphasis on general. And that until you sit in that that seat even as close as you might have worked with John Hammond in Milwaukee and your years together with him until you sit in that seat are you. Maybe a little oblivious to how many people want a piece of you in any given day from so many different areas inside outside an organization undoubtedly i. I believe I call John Shortly after that I had no idea and I probably told him. A number of time cents it's it's the greatest honor the greatest responsibility that anyone on a professional track career track that I was on can have. It's a massive responsibility. That being said in Sam I think is exactly right. We generally manage every single day in. It's it's managing up managing down as managing crossed. And and if you're doing it the right way I think you're doing it in every facet of the organization because you care about having a relationship in a partnership with the business side Peer Fagin team president is a great partner and I can't do anything without talking to him and he doesn't do anything talking because it matters. We worked together in the same thing with Baden on the coaching side and Troy Flanagan on the performance side relationships are players relationship with your agent's agents managing up to your owners every single day and then having talked about my staff my direct staff in the front office and so it's it's really remarkable to to see how many people are stakeholders invested in this big. Cog this big machine professional sports. And it's a humbling thing to be one of the people that are responsible. Keep it moving forward. It's a it's a great responsibility. Something I've hopefully continue to get better better at every day. John when you're trying to get a decision made big small mall somewhere in between and your ownership structure isn't singular. There's other teams that have multiple partners but the board of governor. The governor changes each five years with your group. And how is that in trying to do because they don't always agree on things and to be able to get them on board with something and then moved to the other places you need to get people blunt board like. How does that impact decisions that have made you know? The great thing is is they have been tremendous sounding boards more than anything and I mean that must level of respect pretty much every step of the way Really really big decisions are longer conversations more more in depth analysis But at the end of the day in intimidated hired by Dakota team and they might want to have discussions they might WanNa have have opinions and they do have opinions bud coaches the team in Peter runs the business. I run the basketball and at the end of the day they take our recommendations they allow was to make strong recommendations. Well thought out recommendations we have great conversations. Sometimes they all agree sometimes they all disagree. Sometimes they all agree with me or disagree with me but at the end of the the day they allow us to make the decisions and our professional areas and therefore be responsible for the results of the decisions. And I think that's all you can ever ask for when you say bud coaches the team that means in your mind. What won't you do with a head coach that maybe some others do some other organizations do in in terms of input what are like? Where's the line where you say? That's buds realm and and I don't feel like I can cross into it for me in. It's I'm so grateful and thankful for the relationship that we've built and are continuing to build the respect that he has from my position in the things that I do likewise me for him what I will do is we'll have conversations. Most most often in private will talk about stuff more. Just hey I have an idea. I've thought about this rethought and he does the same with me on the roster. What I'll never do is challenged him or question him In a public setting in emily not in a private setting he is an expert the two time NBA NBA coach of the year is taken to different franchises. Sixty plus winds part. You mentioned seventeen years of spurs part of four championships. He's our coach. That's his job. And he's great at it and and and he makes his decision. He's responsible decisions just like I am but but I think what we do with each other. Is We bounce ideas off each other. We share ideas. We have thoughts. We have opinions sometimes time strong opinions on today. We rely on each other for our own professional areas. The issue of tampering has been at the forefront the league the last few ears the league put in some stricter penalties in the off season. I'm not sure not sure anybody thinks that there's really a way to police. He's all that goes on. You know you know what you're up against you know. Every team in the League wants certainly every big market wants to believe they have a chance to sign the MVP and fees potentially free agent at the end of next season if he doesn't sign an extension this summer. How do you approach that idea? Do you feel like you have to be vigilant. Do you like what. What are the bugs do to combat it if if anything? Yeah not to not to be boring but I think it goes back to what we said. Twenty five minutes ago about building a culture billion environment sustained in an environment where are players have a chance to win at the highest level in love coming to work every single day. If we can do that. We've done what we're supposed to do in this business and I don't think we can really they focus on too much more worried about too much more and I think players that one win at the highest level. WanNa enjoy work and care about that first and foremost Appreciate shape that respect that and I think ultimately will reward teams that do that. The big markets small-market challenges that exist. He'll isn't isn't like your geographies your geography and there's pluses and negatives based on what everybody wants in every situation. What has has to be in place when you are a non destination free agent market to know that like you've given yourself every chance to to make a player like you honestly I don't need to go somewhere else to find what it is that I want you? I would ask you question. What defines a destination for your market? I would say a place that when you have Max cap space you could go get the a list free agent now. What you guys have done a tremendous job of in free agency are with role players? CAL like you competed with everybody in the League for there wasn't a contender who didn't want how Korva right and obviously had a relationship with them and played form and the idea of playing with the honest and all those things I would say a destination market to me by definition would be that. There was a few years ago when now Greg Monroe came to Milwaukee you beat the Lakers were involved in the Knicks. Were involved and we can argue about the level of the time. He was a sought after free agent. But like if we say it's let's look at last..

Despite the rivalry these settlements Jon Kilgore town and walkers point which is on the South side ignoring because he didn't really get involved in this miss he was very clear shut out of the party were incorporated into a single Milwaukee territory in eighteen thirty nine Byron aggressively restricted entry to his side of the river and made it very hard for Solomon settlers to cross so essentially you can't everything's fine essentially anyone go he wants anyone to go there but nobody from Juno town that's right okay interesting just again not how cities work Juneau towners trapped between the river and the lake but they often needed to access the west west side so to get across or maybe the east side so to get across the Milwaukee River settlers either had to row across take a ferry or county or county Oh okay once wrote quote the river is a fine thing as I expected but when you have to cross three or four times daily on a log it ceases to be enjoyment sorry even for this time who is this person you just gave me three options that seem pretty viable I like I'll tell you what I hate grocery shopping on a log raft what all right I got the eggs I'm GonNa go back and get the flower then we make cake in two more trips after that Sir would you like to rent a log. it'd be three eggs the eggs I bought such a stupid thing we're doing stupid here the eggs I guess I gotTa go shopping so quote the rivers defined thing as I expected but when you have to cross a three or four times daily log it ceases to be an enjoyment I often wish I was in Detroit. You don't hear that anymore that's change certainly changed the Juno towners grew frustrated and began demanding bridges be built yes most migrants Constan were poor people Byron wrote about a group getting off a ship quote you have of course some experience in the motley character of the multitude constituting the past injure of a steamboat but yet such collection of Tom Dick and Dutch and the devil what this really weird turn it Tom Dick just voter names and the devil I presume you never did see as we have had on board so bar wanted to build a canal sure right people in Juneau town greatly opposed it as it would favor kilborn town Scher so things became heated that a bank director who is an opposition to the canal was burned in effigy at a rally after Bairam relic speech this is getting a little aggressive these people fired up by the canals directors like I'm sorry they did what what of me I'm just a bag director I just don't like the canal we're going to kill you burn you we're going to burn you baked victor you will give us fucking canal it's not up to me works we'll tell us we gotta burn no can we rent a log no no we're not somebody has to die yes During elections people from the Anti Canal Party kept winning and eventually the canal project was abandoned due to cost but Byron had lost thirty thousand to get the project going okay but the main reason that failed was because Byron did not at all work well with other people that's weird because everything I've heard makes it seem like he's really cool guy to get along with I know that was a surprise it seems easy going in eighteen forty was Solomon Support the Wisconsin territorial legislature ordered. Milwaukee where have they been were they at any point like what says is fucking insane don't do this anymore I assume the towns all over the place they're fighting so this is really insane though this is like the warriors it's not normal now okay so entered the Milwaukee Milwaukee County to build a quote good and substantial drawbridge because the ferry system was considered inadequate fire in kilborn was really against it he claimed that bridges were hazardous to ships visiting docks but in reality they threatened his control of travel and trade in the walking Isn't that a terrible argument like one where you're like we will build it above it's a bridge and we're not talking about putting a street in the river this is an elevated road they work now it is how they work and they're not sure why they're called boat killers it's never been a thing that anyone has ever said because it's not at all a thing all the time never sat here comes the boat killer you're the only person who said it and that's three times this will be a bridge this is above however the show me your biggest will build it higher than that no yes yes you this is not how this works demanded flawed and not good they go they sink that has nothing to do with the bridge and I honestly don't even think you're arguing anymore bridges and boats have been at war for hundreds of years I sir not about to be part of that war I would like to wade casualties and death that you're bridge will because you are going to build a murder bridge it's an elevated road I rest my case I just fucking asshole the verse bridge was built on Chestnut Street Byron finally conceded when one of his close supporters argued that it was hard to get to the courthouse which was in Juneau town so Byron agreed as long as he never had to share the costs of any quote east side improvements on the bridge but the people of Juneau town.
