"Am. I mean i. I'm my own worst critic. I critique every revived. I ride and if i finished secondary i don't think there's ever been a time. Say well so there's nothing i would have done any different because of i say that then i finished second again. Who wants to run second. I i'm not. I don't like secondhand that affect on his second worst of neither running last. Sometimes i want. I want to figure out a way that could made a difference and sometimes run into my head so many times in the still come out second after every time running my head and all that go well. It's that competitive edge that makes every athlete great and you certainly have it all of the great writers that are in the game today. They have it. They have that will to win. They hate to lose you. Hear many athletes talk about that in in every sport What what still motivates mike smith. Now and you're not getting out as many horses. But you're writing some good ones. Still what's still motivates. You just just getting a horses. Getting opportunity right does horses. I get to ride and yeah. I'm not many. But i mean just the other day. I got fighting york right for goodall in healthy. 'cause a woman just the game on getting opportunity pickup horses out of the blue and and and competing on the big stage deal with these young guys and hold them all. And it's all going well. And i i enjoy being around in riding horses more than more than anything Again it. it's it's it's leslie. So much i can honestly say that almost everything Materialized i owned some of the wonderful memories as well to go with it all because of forces of most of them all because of a horse. So long as i'm able to to keep doing it feel like i can compete at the best best at that level that i'm going to keep doing it because there's nothing else in this world that will give you the kind of and finish line first on a beautiful thoroughbred man. It's just it's it's the best feeling cannot describe it. I wish everyone could feel it. No you get to that ban. As an auditor as a trainer groom exercise rider but there is nothing like being on them. That feeling is just a little more special crazy. Well mike listen. I can't thank you enough for spending some time this morning. This was a different type of conversation than we typically get into. But i really enjoyed it. It was a fun trip down memory lane. Congratulations on everything that you have accomplished in your career safe trip. Every time you get a leg up and continued success my friend. Thank you appreciate it. Thanks for having me on the long another year or two..
Why Would Jaguars Sign Tim Tebow?
"We are back final hour. It's been a fun show. We appreciate you being here. A lot of conversation with my Mike smith earlier. We also talked to dennis dodd. Another conversation predictably has been tim. Tebow we've given you a lot of reaction on that in the mike cannon bom from espn former gm jets dolphins. He's been here a couple of times. He had this to say earlier today. On keyshawn jay will and zubin about understanding the signing. I don't like it. I just don't see the upside in this move. He's thirty four years old. He would be a backup. I just don't know of thirty four year old players that can come in and be back place special teams and you're taking away a roster spot from hopefully a young developmental player that could grow with a young nucleus obviously led by trevor lawrence. And to me this is probably through the lens of urban. Meyer saying a decade. And a half ago tim tiba was the most competitive guy i've ever been around and he can help set the culture. If i was in that building what i would be pushing back saying coach. That may be true but in the nfl as you well know. Players needs to be led by players. They believed can take them to where they wanna go and as a backup tight end. I just don't think tim tebow would have that same credibility as he wants dave when he was the starting quarterback in florida. He also questioned whether tibo could even makes a team. I just don't see how he makes the team or urban and he's a really good coach he he's been historically great college but i just don't know he has to earn a spot and he's given a spot. That's gonna cause a big problem because players weren't have a chance to win and again to me just putting on my lens of a general manager and roster construction if you're not a starter in the nfl with only forty six players dressing you have to play special teams so my question. is tim. tibor thirty four years old going to cover cover kicks that remains to be seen. Now if he doesn't earn it does a totally different discussion. But i don't think you could sign him and say hey. He definitely has a spot on this team.

It was a host of the Dave Graham. Show wd EV. For for two or three years old. We'll get these specific dates when Mike joins being just a moment but Wanted to you. Go first to Steve Futterman. CBS News we hear his voice a lot on the top of the hour and bottom of the hour news breaks here on wd and it's really great to get talked with with him. One on one Steve Good Morning. Thanks for joining me. Great to be with you. Hey let me check in with you. I just wanted to kind of get a preview of coming distractions or whatever recall that The impeachment hearings resume tomorrow. They go Tuesday Wednesday Thursday this week. That's right there will be eight witnesses testifying this week and up. I think they're going to be interesting. Witnesses of I thought last week. Catch some interest as well but these may actually be more interesting in the fact that some of these people may talk about about more firsthand dealings. They had with some of the issues. Involved you may recall that one of the Main things the Republicans tried to show so was that many of these people did not have first-hand connections with any of the dealings many of these things were second hand And they brought it up quite a bit. We have people closer to the top. I think this week and we'll see what happens. I mean obviously we know the tactics that are being used by both sides and We'll see what they can can do. Will there be anything new coming out. That's hard to say Much of the information that we heard last week was things that hit emerged before through either syrup leaks or the transcripts that were released from the closed door hearings. I the the the one one witness they seem to be generating a lot of headlines. Already one of the upcoming with Gordon Silent. He was on the he was on a on the phone with the president. We're told From a restaurant in Kiev correct correct. That's right now one thing that's interesting about him is that he's over to Europe while to Change Your testimony at times it may sound strange To your knee me but you are allowed to change your testimony. He has changed his testimony from the first time he appeared before the closed door hearing he adjusted his testimony only to revise it. Just say well on this issue I was on and the thing that he was basically talking about that he adjusted for was. Did you ever hear the president talk about a quid pro quo. Initially he said no and then later on he seemed to indicate that he has heard a quid pro quo offered by the president so that could be just went and brushed up on his Latin. I don't know but Oh yeah did you ever write I. Now I know what a quid pro quo is. I can but he also didn't mention even even even in the second round The July twenty sixth phone call from the restaurant. Whoa yes like? We did not even know about that until last week. So maybe he wasn't even questions about that so interesting for them as well. I think you got a question about you know. was there anything else you needed to tell us. Certainly I mean he got a pretty good invitation. You should whether whether he's not taking it as as he might have is going to be open to any culpability. I don't know we just have a couple of minutes left. I wanted to run a theory by and see what you think about it. I've I've often wondered whether this idea of getting dirt on Joe Biden or hundred Biden would be worth so you know basically risking your presidency over. I mean it just strikes me as pretty right pretty small price. Yeah looking back at it. Obviously not I mean Different people different ways. There are people who think it's I've heard. Republicans who support the president say. It's not such a big deal what he was doing doing your allow. You know. It's all part of the the the the though the gamesmanship of campaigning. The fact that you had a foreign country involved though and and the fact that some people feel that that was what was being offered. There you're going to get the military aid the the military eight the US. If you help us that bothered lots of people but of of course looking back and it probably not the best idea. This and Could the bigger prize slot problems. I mean I just I get this question. Could the the bigger prize really have been making Putin happy. Because imagine if you if you end up cutting off the military Ukraine that would fit right in this pattern of. There's is an hour Russian flag flying over a former. US based in Syria NATO's been greatly weakened from the very beginning of the trump administration just by his comments and his sort of you know very apparent lack of lack of support. I mean in so many ways. He's done things which might be seen as as essentially pleasing Putin and I'm wondering if this could have been part of that same pattern. Oh no definitely I mean when you have dealings with Ukraine yes that can sometimes get involved but I I'm not sure that this was one of those things where He was talking about the nine. The military to to fleas prove obviously Putin with pleased if he didn't get the aid Putin you would think the way putting up his not want a strong Ukraine. He wants to control Ukraine. We we know that. But I'm not sure that I I don't think that necessarily we've seen any indication that that was necessarily the driving gene points for this remember. Giuliani was talking about almost openly. They wanted to get dirt and unbinding was very very open about it at some points. I don't again. I don't know if that was really what he was doing there. Many times what the president has done has been interpreted by his critics and even supporters sometimes as exactly what Putin wants and it's not really in the US interests but it's in a Putin interests. Yes if this it happened if he denied the claim the Yes. There would be some Putin more. But I don't think we've ever heard anything to suggest that that was really the the main reason he wanted to possibly not deny the eight. It did seem that he did want to get some jurors or continue the investigation on the man who at that time and they continue Oughta be because the biggest obstacle to win a reelection if he gets the nomination all Steve Futterman CBS. I I WANNA thank you so much for joining me this morning. I I think I've used up your promise time so I'll let you go but let's do this again. You have that sound hearings. Pollini are very fast fascinating. I'm old enough to remember the Watergate hearings scale and I think if you approach them in the The the right way I agree with the president. You can district person still very interesting hearing well actually one last question on the hearings. Yeah do you know what time they start the next three days. I believe they're going with the start as I'm not one hundred percents believe they're gonNA start like nine eight am nine am. Well thanks for telling me. Because I'm actually trying to figure out the impact on my little radio radio program here which usually goes from nine to eleven so it's just a little bit logistical question to wrap it up with a thanks for. Thanks again Steve. Ten and they went to nine. Nine dollar hold me to that. But that's my guess okay. Great thanks Nice. You had next gas is. I've already advertised a couple times on the program. This morning is Mike Smith. He is the The newly returned I guess is the best way to describe it Secretary of Human Services for the State of Egmont Governor Phil Scott appointed him to the job Month or so ago and Mike tells tells me he's been on the job of by three weeks now and Mike. Of course. A lot of our listeners will remember Was In this In the very seat where I am I think for For a while Mike. How long did he do the show here? Two and a half years and a half years open mic. It was called so And he did a really credible job with it and I. It's it's great to have him back. I might and if you got a couple of pointers and ask them one or off the air in a few minutes. So what do I need to improve my quit Instead of we'll we won't talk about that on the ends then we'll talk about this really important the job Mike has Heading up the the largest agency in state government and Mike. Thank you so much for joining me this morning David. It's a pleasure to be here. Dave I really appreciate the opportunity and nothing. Nothing S- well daynuss board has changed. I got a new board pretty sweet. He's got his new toys in there. I can't see wrangled do headphones. We'll see if we can work that out at some point. Sardines are still here. All sorts of things I tell people I take no credit or blame blame for any the interior decorating his office. Because my two hours a day just come and go and I and I really have not had time to paint the place or anything so it would hold your right anyway. Mike You are This is the second tour of duty as Human Services Secretary you. You had the job under the governor Douglas. Back in the mid I part of the first decade of this Millennium Right. That's right in two thousand five. I was originally. The secretary of Administration went over to Secretary Human Services for a year and then came back as secretary of administration and and it was I say this David I I mean not many people get the opportunity that that I have gotten an I. I feel blessed in order to get this opportunity and I thank governor Scott for pointing me because back then it was the and still is to this day. One of the most rewarding experiences that did I ever had is being secretary of Human Services and during that year I was there. We did a lot of things global commitment for example some of the things that are still in place place global commitment. We looked at blueprint for health. We we did vital That year we did the catamounts health. We did a lot of things that were very very interesting. And I just feel Privileged to be back. That's great now global commitment. Of course that was a healthcare scare Adam as well to refresh on what that was. Basically what happened is that the state looking at its Medicaid program in how it it was organized was projecting an over six hundred million dollar deficit global commitment allowed us to get a little bit more cap space. What is called a Cap At the same time allowed US flexibility. In how we could spend it and we in in doing that. We were able to eliminate the a six hundred twenty million dollar deficit. I remember hearing some legislative testimony wants about cap space and I was thinking to myself or are we talking about an NBA payroll i. It's as complicated as that. Believe me. It is complicated is that it is really interesting that some of the issues. I'm I'm dealing with now. Are the same issues that I was dealing with fourteen years ago. Including we're going to have to renegotiate this global commitment waiver which has been negotiated negotiated one time before. But now it's coming up for renewal in twenty twenty one. Wow Okay so that's that's GonNa be a big project Tell me broadly sadly what else has changed about a variety of human services posture in the last fourteen years. Let me The tone has changed. I think two into things if I answer your question directly to things one well actually three things the size of the The let may start with their the size of the agency. I mean it's three three thousand five hundred employees. That's relatively the same when I was here. The budgets bigger two point. Five billion billion dollars has The same departments the was it. What was the budget previous? You know I can't remember it. I think it was like one point seven. Maybe one point a commensurate with inflation. I think health care is really Taken some of that Ah You know growth in into consideration. I WanNa talk about that in in just a minute So you know the department. The agency has six departments Dale DCF director Department of Corrections Mental Health Health and then diva which is the Medicaid portion of of it where there has been a lot of growth in that area and if I had to say one thing that's changed back fourteen eighteen years ago. Thirteen years ago it was fourteen years ago it was healthcare was probably thirty. Five forty percent of my time Now it's probably fifty eighty five to fifty percent of my time to fifty five percent of my time so that has changed the other thing Dave that I think has changed. "James Good Morning. Good Morning Steve. Thanks for having me on hope your weekend. Well it did. It did and I thought I saved I wrote I write down as many selections. It's always tough for Breeders Cup because then the paper gets all gets a little a little sloppy and sure enough here. I'm looking now and yeah I do have it. Actually there we go there we go home. You were a Vino guy and and bricks and mortar and and then spun to run so yeah your share of winners Too Key around I thought was on higher power. Though I didn't have you know I got you written down for Dino. I took higher power stirred Flavian Pratt. What's up on them? I'll tell you play the Heidi wrote one favorite Donna Duluth below she. The brewers Juke juvenile given up Phillies runner-up but he had a win. had four seconds and fourth earners. I thought that was a really a great performance by him and You know he has the Kentucky Derby win on his resume junkies like have that really just A good showcase for an upcoming star in our rank agreed and and I tweeted on Sunday. I've discussed this a couple of times this week. His record is stunning. And he's got people would say. Oh He's only got three wins. WHOA WHOA three wins? Thirty eight mounts and this is only his fourth year as fourth year riding his sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen at-bats. Ah But another fourteen in the money finishes and then a handful of fourths and fifths I mean the percentage is frightening. I mean considering considering the level of competition really outstanding and he gives he gives every virtually every horse. If he's got horse to work with he gives them a chance. It's definitely and you know I mean I think Santa Anita and hosted the Breeders Cup eight times previously and and and he was writing a lot of california-based debased horses and one of my takeaways was definitely that this this year's Breeders Cup with completely unlike any out in California before I mean just uh-huh it just. It really started on Friday where the first four winners had all raised it Aqueduct Belmont and by the end of it I'm you know I'm looking at it it it. If you'd looked at the charts that Saturday at at Saratoga you wouldn't be surprised to see our ad or ts in four races Castellano and Rosario win into each and then Jose or ts Manny Frank Ricardo Santana All winner races well and Joe Bravo and that's what happened. They took twelve to fourteen races and and all twelve of those horses that race in New York this year now very strong on that on that front and ah not to say that Just had the conversation with Nick. Lock about the euro's and there were there were solid efforts and solid board hits in addition to Iridescence win but The you know the and there were solid performances from west coast sources to bell. Athena's Bella Fina. At under under certain circumstances dances might have won. The united almost looked like a winner hundred yards from the wire There were there were plenty of of solid performances from every region In some cases. Look at Vino. Vino having been into California. I think counselor a lot. You fold in folding would ask. Did you know getting there early with Matali Actually Navarro to I mean in Navarro got there early with a chance. A Lot A lot of times the a Lotta Times. The juvenile turf sprang can be like locally based sources can do all your top two in that race were both based in California with Peter Miller and you the one hundred and thirty five bucks. That's right that's right. That's right his second his second in the race in three years. I'm just looking at the list to spun to run from Philadelphia. So you get you get a a regional kind of a B.. Track player are sharing sharing holiday for new. New York's thunder run actually ran in a mate. Nice at act backer. And the winner but I mean the parks and mom Sharing base at Far Hills at far hell and Maryland bred. That's a couple of times Toga. Yeah yeah everybody everybody got their Lixin. Actually when you when you kind of go through this And I'll just say I I came away. I mean granted. I thought the four big stars coming into enforces with the serious horsey. Our aspirations Bricks Mourner Corner Sister Charlie and Matola two of the four one I think it really does come down horse a year two bricks and mortar and Matola Louis. But I'm giving the edge bricks mortar. I thought it was fantastic campaign. He had been a mile or previously. Before you know getting hurt and undergoing that surgery and I like the fact that Brad Cox I mean Brown ran him. You know he never ran he. Random and six different courses six different states. You went from Florida to Louisiana to Kentucky Hockey to New York to Illinois and the California To win a mile and a half for the first time in his career so to me. He's a deserving of the year well and and driving home the point about the mile and a half for people that because they always beat all the same types and didn't stretch himself then no he did and and you know the there was even people that were incredulous about him going the mile and a half so you know that that score extra points Without a doubt yeah definitely and you know to me One of the Mike Smith that made the point After a couple Oh. He ran second on a pair of privet favorites midnight zoo in Omaha Beach. And he's made the point that he'd right like those races back because it was hard to 'cause over that track track but to me it was more so that those horses were caned on the rail going into the first turn. Blue Prize was tenth early. You know tolley Holy Arosa could be five or six minutes off the pace. But they're jocks really at. That did a great job keeping them in the clear and I really thought midnight. These to you You know continue just to be in traffic through into the far turn. And when she got out she finished great as a case I mean they the great job on on TV and other highlighting it where I think of a blueprint. It's got the jump on her because of the trip the greed and it and it it also. It should be noted for people that are you know insisting that the track nobody could close well. WHOA that's not true? which is simply me? Just look at the chart for the distaff. What do you mean nobody could close at that? Just you know Omaha. Beach closed closed In in as well came from often and others whitmore made up. I mean it wasn't going to get to the winners and the the exact pair But he closed Idiom really had down below chicken that juvenile fillies and that's when the track was absolutely at its worst deepest pissed most impossible right based on based on the figure and in fact. It's funny because yesterday. Paul Matisse was talking about how difficult Friday was to make figures and then it was echoed by Jerry Brown on His On his experts board board. Somebody brought up. Paul's conversation and Jerry also echoed that the way the track changed from the you know the middle part of the day to by the time even the the juvenile boys ran so typically you would if the juvenile of the males run more than two seconds faster than the phillies. You'll get say their way better than the nose Philly but I do think it was. It was a track getting off faster later. And I. I'm I'm not down on British idiom or Donna Boise at all even though that right they came home. I think they should be still terrific runners. And you know it's it's hard to gauge coming out of the juvenile being real adobe guy Exactly what that means going forward so into court definitely Nice Horse Court Vision You know hasn't isn't had much success at Stud but he's bread You know fire. Classic types with that pedigree of his female family has a lot of stamina influences. It just doesn't have much class. You won't find any stakes winners really in that immediate female family well your final the final takeaways. My final take away so I just you know I you know I was. I thought you know it was a tragic end McGowan crew. I mean it was just a Really hurt to see that happy at the very end After a thirteen of the Breeders Cup races have that happened in the ashtray and and racing. Definitely I think has some issues and concerns going forward. the people in the industry maybe do a better job messaging but I still remain. Optimistic is the horserace fan about the future and I was. I came away like in the Breeders Cup. I thought there was some great performances and Looking for work once again the next year very good well. We're looking forward to the action this weekend give us some thoughts about Churchill had terrific card even today yesterday and Wednesday were good and of course the Commonwealth on Saturday the feature the Grade Three Mile and a sixteenth. The three year olds on the grass. It is an absolute war. Some thoughts about what's been going on while everybody was paying attention to Breeders Cup and and we got to look forward to this weekend. Yeah they had three stakes last week and In the MEA mischief flatmate go for the sale and and look good. She loves Churchill Downs Multiple Grade. One winner there in the Divine Queen got off to bad start. Art Never Fire in the In Saturday stakes chill Lewke and Sally's Kirwin breakers Swin She tried the Indiana Oaks folks earlier. This year didn't run good for Dale Romans. But she had one or last two allowance races by like about fifteen lenz combined and ran a rug. Good Rice debris greet Brian Cox's

"Ten years ago two thousand nine the ten year anniversary of Kenya's unbelievable performance that day and to look back on that day and so many others is hall all the Famer. Mike Smith now on the Horse Racing Radio Network Mike. Thanks for getting up early this morning. Good morning thank you. I swear to wake up yeah I bet but it is to listen to to some of those calls you boy Xanada. Can you believe it's been ten years already and now it just it doesn't seem like Oh you know he was so so special. It just seems like it was yesterday. Every time you think about her it'd be honest with I know you're going to spend a lot of time talking talking about over the next several weeks if you haven't done so already but when you think back on that performance in the Breeders Cup classic that day at Santa Anita what are some of the first thing that come to mind for you you know I've been involved in a lot of a lot of incredible races but man that was one that it was just different different It's hard to describe as something he had to. He had to witness. You know you had to have been there to understand how how special it was that they in the you know just the way the crowd reacted in. She went on for like a fifteen to twenty minute ovation. They just kept kept on it. Kept on cheering for you know it was it was pretty incredible though I think it will go down even think even breeders couples as one of the top five breeders cups of all time yeah. I don't think there's any doubt is she's. He's starting that run that day and beginning to to lengthen her stride and gained ground but what's that feeling like for you is is it as a guy who's been aboard so many top horses you know. I I literally turned into a fan about the eightfold when I knew once she got out she got you know moving forward and running. I pretty much knew she gets there. She had it she had every time never have that sound so I became a fan about the pool and it was just an all her just cheering for myself to be honest with that was writing there. Is that your thompson yacht a moment or whether others she yeah every every every moment with her was amazing but yeah you'd have to say that that that was the one right there. He became something something bigger than than than a event tastic rate for she became an icon and a household name for sure just just one of the greats of all time and going on to be voted horse of the year. You know another great that you had the chance to be aboard and we've been celebrating him all week long here on on H. R. N. is game on Dude. A Horse who wants sixteen thirty four starts more than six point four million dollars in purses. I say the name game on dude. What comes to mind? You know just honesty man. He was just one of the most honest for every time he went out there. He laid it on the line then when loser draw what I do he he he gave he was all you know. It's pretty pretty incredible. I mean because his longevity last as long as you and the way he you an 'cause he did all he did all the dirty work man and had an had to continue to run on to win. I mean he's set the pace and and have to you know just with horses coming at him him and finishing Adam and hold off and so every time you know when you get a horse it has to do all the dirty work and still win in and can do it at his age and for that long time as just pretty incredible man it's pretty special and and I'm glad you brought up the fact that he did all the dirty work because his style completely opposite from Xanada he would get into the hunt early and battle all the way different new you know the he was quick so they would you know you never got away with nothing easy man. He had always been at work. They had horses that would go early and you know try them early to try weakened immune oh so he wouldn't have anything left at tennis with but every time and he would figure out a way to deal with incredible sometimes. I wonder if he just went after he just caroni fast yeah. He's now in old friends here in Kentucky ever get the chance to say an inside and he wanted to be course but what he lacks inside contained in his heart. He had a heart bigger and bigger than he was. Do you ever get the chance to go out to old friends and see him. When you make it to Kentucky yes I I I did. I got to see him as a year. Before last I got to see hopefully I'll get out there where I can spend more than just a few hours on the ground and they get out there and see him in Yada a few others as well. You know justifies out there. There's quite a few of them out there that I like. Vic- you know I I asked Bob Bob Baffert about game on dude when he joined me earlier this week and I asked him if game on dude still remembers him when he goes out to see him and he said I don't know I think he remember Jill more than he remembers me. So how about for you do you think the game on dude and then you ought to do. They remember Mike Smith. I think she used to you know. It's a big little bit. Since I've been out there time goes on you know they get so many people that come out to see them. Both that you know. I think I remember that last person that gave them a peppermint you know or or or some sort of treat you know but there was a time to do that I think they did but again. You know it's been a while so it'd be hard to say but sometimes I'll get up next is just sit up there and she'll come over and when I would go over here and I I don't know I swear that she she remembered me. Yeah so cool so cool well one horse that definitely remembers you is Mackenzie. Who you're going to be aboard later today. In the grade one awesome again stakes aches mackenzie so impressive last time out in the Whitney and I know that you were pretty pumped up after the race to finally get him that elusive grade one one victory against the older horse. I know he won the Pennsylvania Derby but to do it against the older horses that special cow it really was especially in a racist the Whitney you know and then he you know it's always been that little bit of a question you'll want to get to that distance and he did it in and acted like he could could continue on it and gave me more so that was a you know a lot a big sign you know he'd come off with just eat the met mile which he you know he had a bit of rupp trip and and probably probably could've wind up the winter that day and so for him to come back and redeem himself and then get that opportunity to do so and and me to put them in the right place and and and and get the job done was was pretty pretty special man. I mean he you look back at the horses that ran on the race they came back in the next next one and and and they were right there one two three you know so it was a big race to come out of yeah. I'd be Remiss Mike I mentioned the Pennsylvania Derby he also won the grade one Malibu as a three year old and then his first grade one ones but yeah console divorces like that classic kind of race at that was that was what he needed you know and there are a lot of people would you listen to a lot of the people that make selections in Handicap. They said well you know McKenzie Mellon Eighth. Maybe not his best ditz distance but he proved proved that that that was a good distance for him. What did you feel underneath you. He's gotTa go mile and an eighth again today. No problem there no. It actually wasn't like He. He finished strong underneath the wire. A matter of fact he finished Kinda put in his ears up. Let me know that there was a little you know there was gas in the tank. If I needed it and he so he he showed me that data he can certainly run on he horse Yoshi and came to him and he put him back away. It wasn't like you know he just held on. He was actually drawing away at the end. So that was a good sign. I like because versatility. He's a horse that you get up into the race. He seems to run well or in the mile. He dropped back a little bit and made that late run. He seems to do it from from any position. Yeah just depending on the pace of course a mile is a whole lot quicker whole lot faster so just naturally kind of putting people thought that he got away. Betty actually broke good mile. They just went really fast forty four a whole lot different than a forty seven It's a good picky linked and so when they go really they quit like that. He hits off of it and comes big doesn't mind at all and you know when you're going along anywhere from a you know violence sixteen Kamala Tomato quarter where you you know they certainly don't go that as quickly on so he's able to you know to get out of the gate and put himself in a good spot and that usually usually forwardly placed but again. Gandhi can sit off of it. It can be on the lead. He's done it all really he's done it all and he's hoping to do it one more time today in the awesome again and then move onto the Breeders Cup classic visiting with his Jockey Hall of Famer Mike Smith here on the Horse Racing Radio Network Mike before I let you go. I'll ask you about the brilliant fill you ben aboard this year and midnight be sue. She runs in the Belle Dame today at Belmont Park. Of course you're going to stay at Santa Anita and ride Mackenzie so you won't be aboard her but after she won that last race in the personal Lanson at Saratoga. I think you were asked on the coverage later. The television coverage about horses like Songbirds Yata and you said she's close. She's he's getting there. She's close and of course I'm paraphrasing but she's pretty darn. Good too isn't she. She's incredible and yeah. She's catching. Everybody leaps and bounds. I mean she's just Let me she's six for six years. She's done everything we've asked over and again. Here's another versatile horse. I mean she can being front inside outside in behind it. It doesn't matter she just gives you that run every time and she's just a special special field in you know too bad that both racists came up on the same day so not able to write after this time but good. Lord Willing will reunite in the in the Breeders Cup distaff. You know so excited about her running today. talk to Johnny about her yesterday. Eh she not to mention she loves Belmont to it's a little bit of a little less. You'd say okay but it's a plus for her to be there as well because she gets over that at that surface. That's probably one of her favorite surfaces so if she'll continue to run like she's been running. She'll be hard to reconcile. They both the day Mackenzie. If he runs his race. He'll be tough you know and you just hope you can. You're able to pull them both off without having to squeeze lemon too much. You know what'd you tell. Johnny when you talk to them just everything everything about her. She'll she'll pretty much tell you she wants to be ridden. Leaving the gate sometimes she'll either running and and don't be shocked if she's up close or even been on the lead with her and she runs just as well either way she'll be covered up. She don't mind getting covered up right into the pockets. She'll she'll do that and she's so explosive. I it's it's your show as long as they give you a scene. You don't need a whole lot of room. She'll she'll get through there. She's she's that explosive when she makes her move. It's just about getting her happy at the end of that comfortable rhythm wherever that big man we'll see if she can run big one more time today and then as you said hopefully you in midnight. Zoo reunited the United for the Breeders Cup distaff today. She's in the very capable hands of fellow hall of Famer John Velazquez Mike as always can't thank you enough for taking the time and getting up early with me this morning really appreciate it and I'll look forward to catching up with you as we make our way down that road to the Breeders Cup here about a month away can't wait. It's going to be a great Breeders Cup this year..

Thanks for some time on the happy hour here on E.. Charen unexpressed Arabia. Hello Vega Doodo. You guys doing good good great. Hey this isn't your first. <hes> your first Rodeo. When it comes to the Whitney back in nineteen ninety three go back into the way back machine run Zwick for Tony Moore gotTA got the money. What do you remember about that day. Oh is my first grade name big race in Saratoga and win Mar God the horses Renos dynamite race that day he was kind of a bit of an underdog going in and and upset the car they're great place and it was just wonderful race to win rate honor when we get the opportunity to win the you know these these caliber races especially what this race is has turned into credible race now. Oh Yeah Great Memories up here at Saratoga. You are a mainstay up here for a long time and now the last few years especially you've come back Jack. What are some of your more favorite recent memories here the spy shore my favorite Philly Song. It's gotTa rank right up there without a doubt. I'm and getting the opportunity to to win on songbird up here and <hes> arrogate crushing it and the travers <hes> breaking I forget how many years own record that that was set <hes> coming back the following year yet west coast winning travers. I mean I've been so blessed your New New York period but <hes> especially at Saratoga when you can win a race to stir toby. I don't care what anyone says. It's not like winning a you could win a great one everywhere else in unconscious but when you win when you're at Saratoga it easy the more yes. It's one of those places where the racist just become extra special. Because they're here I mean there's just no comparison to any other racetrack. I mean I know now. You're a del Mar guy and I was a Delmar guy for over twenty years years in I mean it's just when you're here. You just can't believe it's actually happening to you yeah. That's really true I mean and it's just the caliber horses sources that you're competing against <hes> you'll have to have more of them out here and you know a lot of divorces in when when you win here it's just it's different <hes> for whatever reason it really isn't credible. Mike everybody asks us and we know now you more. You're more of a shipper when you come to Saratoga. What are some of the spots. You like to hit <hes>. "Daring them to fire them, but coaches don't even have an inspiring way to tailspin anymore. I mean, this is just, yeah, Mike Smith is is a respected defensive coordinator. I mean, I think he, you know, he would have been the Jaguars head. Coach had things broken, slightly different way. I don't think that that's the problem here. The bucks. I think this is what happens when you like go this. This is what happens when you like basically. Like go all the way down the driveway, like all, like, say the mailboxes were. The pink slip is right in and you. You lead the coach all the way down the driveway, all the way down the driveway to the mail his such a bad. Now g I, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. You'd think the plank. About, but I didn't wanna use the obvious one. Plus there's a Tien. All right. Let's let's. The point I'm pulling the cord on my stupid analogy. This is what happens. What happens when you almost fire coach? This is what happens when you come so close to firing coach. This is what happens when you openly flirt with another coach. You guys remember Jon Gruden night on that Monday night and Tampa last. I mean, I was so blatant, right? Like this is what happens when you're that close to firing a coach. You can't get the guy you wanted. You just decide. Cutter was an impossible situation. And I think even as even as well as that offense played in the first couple of weeks of the year, I think you had to sort of know that when this thing takes a wrong turn, there's a chance for it to get really, really bad, really, really quick. And to me, it wasn't even the first loss loss to Pittsburgh. It was the way they looked in Chicago, and it was like they, I'm not saying the team quit under, but it was. It was a little bit of a quickie performance. Yeah, there's a little bit of quick vied there.
