"Broncos country tonight Brian Ebbers goods were all right thank you to Mike Klis or nine news brought causes are for joining us in the previous segment we'll get that interview up actually it's already up the Broncos country tonight dot com good job in the rod three seven one three eighty five eighty five phone number five six six nine zero is the tax line so there was some good quotes stay with the media but the one that stood out the one that's getting a tunnel wonders von Miller talking about gridlock will tip the cap to Anthony rod and he was having fun Vaughn has in the past said some pretty I don't know a fuser prays moments about his quarterback I mean either your member even in our after brain Allen's performance he said something about quarter no it wasn't have known it was does difference not no you said it was like a Drake is like little little John found Drake cat went well swim Drake found the Wayne boulder lane found Drake systems and I don't I don't you're not up on your right now I'm not up on any of itself she felt like with little Wayne foundry that's all you know that so that was a wows we really like brown any said things about traversing meaning case Keenum and so on and so forth but he said something about drew like today dad picked a lot of people's interest as I want you to hear this and and will react to it I actually kind of felt like you'd given the script like this was something that you gave him to say I mean I know I didn't not not give him the here's one bill Roger lack I just want to be here when you get famous his gun kill it is go kill it he's got he's got everything you need to know that he would he ran out and did like a little blue league any kind of do it is incomplete pass but you know I seen a lot of good ones play and that was probably the best incomplete pass that I've seen bro and doing as a little flip up he's just a he's a star in the making noise with Tony Romo and in their odds and all these guys in ages blow up when I see the same the same stuff for drew all the us to do is just keep doing what he's doing you know good karma in this the type of guy uses ogle come back to wow it sounds previously like so moving someone else's said I mean just just almost verbatim it's almost like someone slipped him a script to read from yeah well beat I can appreciate you gave us a specific example of a roll out that was an incomplete pass I don't know that was kind of fun I met nobody followed up on that what was so special about the how what what was so great about you described to rue in all of his glory because I remember watching Paxton Lynch do rollouts and throw the ball really released to super hard that's one way to put it in a day he rolled out and threw the ball hard that is that is one way to put it I mean that's probably the most correct way to put it throw the ball accurately is not something but this is a thing like like are you know maybe we get a little bit too far ahead of ourselves but some of the things he's describing is far as well on what he is he's telling you what ailment shoals telling you with Ellis is divine doesn't have to be if you serve in its praise he is certainly to do that for Paxton no he did not and that that's a good you brought that up because people were like always said that thing about brand Alaniz of this thing about just being nice to brand now but he took a right as play you don't know how much he liked Brandon Allen like printed out they they do braille the nice guy guys gravitate to he's got that leader you know that leader charm that leader swag charisma whatever you wanna call it he's got that right he's got that IT factor but what he doesn't have is the ability the true lock as and you know we've we've seen over the last couple weeks were people been telling you the Broncos are sour on drew lock in you know all this just absolute nonsense well the truth is about to come out we're a couple weeks away and von Miller is hinting at you guys Hey the truth of the gospel according to von is coming the truth is common well the Talib part of it is something that we saw in I mean we saw this time in history we saw even in pre draft process is not like we didn't think the true law could be very good but the thing about it is being a a as I thought Vic Fangio summed it up perfectly he's a he's a hard thrower right he's a guy that is is a not quite a picture yet is I'm from try to remember the exact reference to baseball he made there but basically zillion a quarterback yet it's one thing to be able to children practice and and make requisite throws where you say wow this some talent there but to do it out in the field so what I I guess I'm fine with this one you be excited about her lack of the other guys in the that's way more than they ever gave passion which I mean they never said that about Paxton lodge but ultimately stone he needs the on field Porter like before I think anybody can get that excited about it it's still in the in his practice we've seen practice heroes before training camp if you have a so I'm not kill box here to be training camp zero again for her to do that for the killing von for this because as you put it he didn't say he has not said that about every quarterback to sever their blights I'll say as excited as you are he is still gonna show up on the field Brandon Allah has that experience true like does not right now bonds also echoing something to tell you guys you can tell them you know it it in a limited number throws you can tell the guys got that IT factor you know not that that there's that whole dynasty meets destiny guy he is needs to meet the guy he can become you know kind of thing going on there but you can tell like he he has an end and I think you can only have we said Tony Romo is I think that's who drew lock kind of ease in the end I was a cop the came out pre draft right in in he is he's a better athlete than you think he is he's faster than you think he is and he's got a big arm and he's able to improvise and make plays office and I honestly that's probably his strength right now he is playing outside of structure drew lock is more of a thrower then a quarterback at this point we rise to learn to play over the financial side he needs to learn to play an item you know you know me I'm a big block fan but I'm a I'm a give it to you straight he needs to learn to play with instructure he's got to learn it is with the big problem the Mike Shanahan head with Jake Plummer Jake Plummer played so well outside a structure within size truck she had some problems right and it was a big problem you Jake would change plays up on Mike Mike them like a day but heads will bit you know to lock and load he's out there trying to change plays on all these essays are and it's a personality that Jake Plummer was he is high wattage you can tell me as you can tell that their star power there you could tell that you got a guy with a lot of talent and a lot of ability you just need to put it all together and I think the only way you put it together is get a couple weeks of practice putting out on the field and and see if he could do it it was that sound bite from Vic Fangio this summer I don't think he's far as long being a NFL ready NFL quarterback as he could have been okay so that's what I mean when he's got to get ready he's he's not a quarterback yet you know these hard throwing pitcher that they're not a pitcher it also faster he gets that the better off you'll be and will be non that's got texture really great it's a great analogy and I'm glad we got had that found the sum by thinking if Europe we come back I should play another sound bite from big danger talking about your like today's one of his best that he's had move really long time I don't own on it's very tail end of this press conference but was asked about how walk is looked and they kind of took a moment in like a little bit of a retrospective and said Hey look with your lock he did this benefited him having a chance to see that it back really benefited him so we're gonna play with Vic Fangio said when we come back Broncos country tonight okay away.

"Talking to Mike Klis getting a little bit of a check in on some of the cuts I guess in the end and and Mike put it perfectly there I guess in the end you can understand that so the vets are going to be the first to go you're not gonna be looking AT these guys as potentially practice what players maybe a little bit of a surprise with don bar clay only because the amount of reps he was getting with the ones early in training camp it seems to me that over the course of training camp and preseason you an opportunity to watch guys develop and grow so for example Mike Purcell who's gonna join us here a little later on in the program is a perfect example of a guy that went out and took the job right so what Mike Purcell did is he got off to what was considered over a reasonable store in training camp he was noticed sometimes sometimes it was more of a DaMarcus Walker I mean he was the nose and represent Kerr was early there too and because you're the on the defensive side of the ball sometimes it's a little bit more difficult to stand out what you're getting interceptions were obvious sack because you can't actually hit the quarterbacks so you had to wait your turn after Mike Purcell but what she did over the course of time over the course of training camp and the preseason is he went out and took the job meanwhile guys like so Cravens who by the way I actually likes to a quite a bit there's a reputation out there a perception of so Cravens my experience with him of all you've always been very positive he's always been very professional with me last year I know door towards the tail end of the season his experiences with fans Joseph I mean you probably be mad too if you're a healthy scratch you'd come off I or and you fell out of favor with the coaching staff and you were just bear in the same thing a Shane ray just fell out of favor the Broncos wanted to give a shot because there was an investment it didn't quite work out but he's an example kind of like a little bit the option of Mike Purcell over the course of time over the course of training camp and preseason games it just never really kind of fully came together there were splashes early on in camp he had a couple of nice plays couple of interceptions had some good plays in the game but you saw last night for example where he missed all any he missed on a wide open tackle that he had to make and it is up leading to a now that eventually the proctors Rabal to make a turnover but it really wasn't necessarily because the sewer and then and then later on he ended up coming up with the tackle and strip but again at that point you kind of mostly knew what you were getting there trade Marshall had shown more consistency Vic Fangio has been giving him a bit more tough love in the media but he'd show more consistency up to this point and now he that that's why he ends up probably making this roster as the fourth safety that it's it's amazing turn of events actually because we came into training camp with this idea of a super deep safety group right we we pretty much marked it down as one of the deepest troops all the team but as time has developed it didn't end up being the case who knows if the multi Thomas was stayed healthy right he's got a leg injury that Vic Fangio characterize last night after the game as potential keeper about month maybe two months she mark of Thomas got banged up in the game too could've been a guy to make the roster as a special teams ace and so now like sort of through process of elimination tray Marshall who played a lot last night does not find himself to be the fourth safety and in the meantime as a result of the goalkeeper for safety's you're to keep ninety bees overall do Dawson who's now a part of the Broncos in that trade becomes your fifth cornerback and again dupe Dawson might be here in part because of maybe some concerns about price Callahan's health his what's been banged up and I'll be looking he's been he's been limited rap guy at this point I mean since he got hurt it was actually the Saturday we discussed scrimmage more the Saturday practice here at the stadium was where he alternately got hurt and and so now you may have been decided to bring in do Dawson as a bit of insurance for Bryce Callahan maybe it's a bit of well the vaunted buys B. is is our fourth quarter but we want to see with this guy can do Duke Austin five eleven one ninety seven and as a Mike Klis detailed very nicely there for four six forty that he ran in the combine last year last year it's not often that you move on from second round picks after just one year usually let me list here locally the experience is bad you give them multitudes of chances to change everyone's minds I mean it it be interesting to see how bill Belichick would retreat to Marcus Walker at this point I'll be dorks Walker this is his last gasp with the Broncos I think he's on but if it didn't happen now you just don't really know what was going to happen for him and I I I don't think he had any value at all at this point is forced trade value you just don't see it like one year removed trading your second round pick for a swap in late rounds and it is a swap the brokers got seven out of it but he's he's fast he's considered instinctual cornerback okay so this the thing about do Dawson that I it that I've come to understand and I do remember a bit from last year covering the draft what what he is is more instinctual and and there is athleticism there but he has at times because of of the size and because of maybe what's considered a bit of a lack of elite athleticism he is not really translated just yet but I don't even know if you really give him enough time and so he's a little bit of a diamond in the rough I guess we kind of made the same argument ultimately about sewer trades we kind of said look this guy really hasn't had a real chance to show anybody what he could really do well we're back here again but the one thing you have here with Duke Dawson that wasn't the case was still Cravens if you're not coming in to this thing with a bunch of questions about his personality his work ethic those things were kind of what was driving the conversation with super Cravens when the Broncos acquired him from Washington and remember of course at that time there was a lot of conversation also about whether or not he was truly it well for the long run if he was going to be a guy that wanted to retire from the NFL I never got that sets from sue I I again I always had a positive interaction was who Cravens but again that doesn't mean that he's going to be successful in this league three oh three seven one three eighty five eighty five is our phone number so so that that's kind of what catches you up for today otherwise not a ton other spice bread lately are no longer on this roster former third round pick for the Broncos that twenty seventeen draft continues to just look really really brutal and at this point it's really tough to have to feel like I I mean really that range of the twenty six twenty seventeen drafts maybe even a bit in the twenty fifteen draft if the Broncos hadn't changed the way that they were doing things I mean who knows with this team will be right now are you for work for the twenty eighteen to twenty nineteen dress what we expect those to be I'll be with this team could be bottom of the barrel in every category it doesn't matter what how many that you bring it you have to have good drafts that death is so so important to the success of your roster and part of the struggles that they've had over the last couple years were because of those wraps in in Langley man good luck to you you transition from wide receiver quarterback back to wide receiver it didn't work out here I'd say it's for your best shot now it's probably something in the XFL but at this point it looks like it's gonna be difficult for you to catch on an NFL roster when we come back we're gonna check in with the guy that's definitely on this roster very impressive throughout the course of preseason another guy ascending continue to get better and that's just in Holland he's gonna Taurus next a Broncos country tonight I'm Reid Edwards this came away.

"Four one let's get to the tax line great stuff from Mike Klis appreciate that let's get the text line five six six nine zero this from Keith the office is a brand new office of coordinators Cantarella defense has at Donna tell of course the defense is ahead well right now risque roles but an offense of coordinator before just at the collegiate level he I mean I what you see Davis Wagner Millsaps you know he's he's had several stops officer quarters so it's not like he says you can experience the play call our office quarter so put the end of a level it down to tell the fans you have decades of experience as a sizeable but when you bring it in a new offense the defense is always going to have an advantage yep it's gonna get time to get your new you will see a new quarterback right in that new quarterback has to used to his new receivers and so you're always gonna have kind of an advantage on the defense on the ball early we start getting that second third we can't that's what you will see the pendulum swing the other way the office is figure out what the defense is the one to get the timing down now the office should be taken that it and then in turn the defense will start to figure out the offices moves okay they're doing this every time to doing this these are the tendencies no started job stuff and the pendulum will swing back the other way good question here from Mike asking about how the Broncos our offense is playing a really good defensive team if they were taking on a bit of a lesser defensive team so I guess in this case if you say put the first team offense out there again so I don't know the second in thirteen Devens mother we actually have seen that but to that point maybe a a lesser coached defensive team would you maybe see better production from the offense because it that there's a point there that you really don't know until they play against other teams and that's that's our one get I I don't I try to look at it like that my dad sure look at like you going out there trying to execute against two you're against you know I think if you're a quarterback and you are young and you need to get that internal clock right playing a pass rushing duo like Bradley Chapman von Miller might help out make sure you're not hang on to the ball too long but it overall I think I just think you just try to get yourself what you do down and and go from there you want to dictate to the defense your plan you know whether it's a good defense with the Broncos defense bears the whoever so I always these guys play a couple games were to point now you need to see it you know you need to see it live and that'll really tell you where you're at find it weird spend one alright with you hearing Kaylee newsradio eight fifty AM ninety four one FM this question coming in on the text line five six six nine zero haven't heard much about Jeff hire me since signing his contract what what's going on with him which apartments out there had a couple catches yesterday I remember seeing him catch it he hasn't his minutes via involved in the passing game you've been used to stay in and block a lot more yeah they really kind of used phantom those receivers a special last couple days to try to get vertical he's kind of in the safety valve to be honest with you when Joe Flacco is not find anything he's kind of the guy that he got a check that out underneath what's your this one came in a just a little bit ago it's old but link the so I'm gonna I'm gonna sum it up again Reiner's Benjamin Albright this was asking about would you rat it's kind of a would you rather would you rather see the Broncos go six in ten with true lock or a mate with Joe Flacco so it's kind of leaning that direction of lot of the the people out there that don't know if the Broncos are gonna be all that great this year I would rather see the team be the best team in the most competitive team that it can be and have the player show consistent basis of improvement and if at sixteen ten eight Nate whomever that is gosh drew lock is not the plan this year if it happens it happens but the plan this year as Joe Flacco Joe Flacco is going to be the quarterback as fans until he can't be well but I've read the set the expectation honestly then sit there tried try some hot take a re and in in full these guys into thinking the drew drew locks you know the place that the plan that she's not an end even if you're a great quarterback that's okay Pablo Holm's wasn't the plan in Kansas city Alex Smith was an Alex Smith started that whole see you know by the way had an MVP caliber season almost moms came up late last game against the Broncos just because it didn't matter came to see whether one loss but Pablo holds was a great quarter you showed practice so give drew lack time I know we're impatient I know we're looking for the success of this is a a a town with a rich quarterback tradition this is the town of John Elway and Peyton manning it is a rich tradition the fact that I'm I'm not even mentioning Jake Plummer who by the way if the phenomenal quarterback is should say something this is a is a tally which quarterback history and I get it fatigue to from the post paid narrow we had to put up with the likes of mark Sanchez and Trevor Simeon and Paxton Lynch and the shell of Brock Osweiler and they they they're waiting years of Peyton I I get it Liz has a page let's see what Joe Flacco could do drool lock is the plan for the future but he's not the plan for right now Joe Flacco ism but there's gonna come a point if Joe Flacco is and may not be completely on in this the point we're making earlier like K. the way Joe Flacco succeeds on this team is the offense of line doing their job the running game doing their job the receivers not dropping passes those all have to be working in concert for Joe Flacco to be successful now some people might be saying what I want I don't want that I want to quarterback that can create on their own I want a quarterback like Peyton manning this is you know wish list or correct like pay many that makes offense of lines better by his play he makes other receivers better and you know what Dave Joe Flacco can be that guy that I want the next guy well if if it were easy to have the third best quarterback of all time and then everybody would have why don't we talk what manner we've talked about that the the other thirty one teams in the NFL right now that would kill for the expectation levels you just sort of perfect to me what why can't Broncos fans want their own Patrick my home the next Patrick home we might have to be patient yeah we were a little bit in his attacks are just texted him were spoiled with paschalis you're exactly right that's what it is we're spoiled the expectation level such so high because you had two hall of Famers that is a back to back but but close and by the way the guys that bridge them a pretty good too so you don't just do give it let's see what Joe Flacco got let the offense of line gets sent with them Starr blocking that wide zone starts opening up now so we get the rugged Phil plenty was electric last year let's look for to get going when they get going that's going to open up the passing game let's put that happens see what happens we don't we don't need to throw cold water on this five days in the training camp on the techs I hear from Dan I'd rather have the players making these mistakes now then one week into the regular season least they have a chance to correct them before the season starts well that that's kind of what you hope that's exactly what this is for us what training camp and preseason is for what if I tell you that and I'm completely throwing this out so this is not based on anything I actually things going to happen or or hope happens I'm warming up the skip motor right now what a fight you know what yeah you do that it won't be it won't be pretty what if I tell you that the offense only wins a handful maybe even three days like the quote on quote when you don't I'm saying let's trade show the showing progression is it time to get together starting to do even though you say they wind are they are they effective in moving the ball at all they get in field goals is this a he's pot scenarios are these turnovers are we have in our we have a bad turn over here I mean that's that's what we need to know is this a scenario where we're a team is getting benefits get better yeah I'm fine with the office only one in three days it be great to have the elite defense once again is he off it's effective or effective enough it's it's not really easy offense you know put up Star Wars numbers like Peyton did with Julius and decker and you know all those guys is is he is Joe Flacco coming in and being competent is a guiding the office to points so if it's still under under what I'm assessing here so let's just say they win three training camp days we come out of it saying boy the off it's been that they wanted you're saying when it happens for you matters because the trend not this but I mean is more likely to be like scattered right I want to see improved on see more temperate right now the office is misfiring near me there missed time either quarterback is miss timing routes with his receivers we're seeing a lot of they were seen mistakes and so are they losing on their merits or or the losing because of sloppy play that matters to me you know if you're only within three battles if you go head to head office first defense with three battles in camp tell me those last three weeks is he just sloppy often suppliers of defense a very good defense just getting the better of a middling office on the point that the Broncos fans are a little bit spoiled I'm not going to completely disagree the although I will say back to kind of the original point I was making or the least of the textures making that fans may be willing to have a certain amount of patience for the perceived future quarterback more so and a high draft pick quarterback more so than a veteran quarterback brought in and we know he's the bridge like like you know old right even with John Elway saying all the nice things about him yeah we all know that Joe Flacco was the bridge to deluxe let's let him be the break it but that that's where I'm I'm saying that fans like we just got a text here like like how the Kansas city fan and a huge Mizzou fan if you're locking clear position making it be fun to watch did you Texas and looking for to the court to be a zoo fan Cole Porter battles with some homes the point of it that I I'm I'm I'm saying here is that fans despite the logic of let's wait for drew let him develop they're not they're not going to sit idly by and watch their team chunky here but they would give to.

As you make your way westbound out to the Vada area and slow traffic between Kipling and our data and then the Wadsworth exit on westbound. "Know any of this with a fact. I know it for a fact, no, you don't you don't know anything for a fact, it's like, the weather the only weather report. That's right. Was yesterday's weather. The only thing we know about the draft for a fact is who the teams took yesterday. That's all we know. We don't know what they're going to do. They've got no incentive to tell you what they're going to do. There was a report from Rafah Yano of S N Y that those two teams that Gettleman referred to the Broncos and Washington which unless he found out for a fact independently from teams he doesn't cover. I assume the giants told him that off the record now, I know it's bad form to speculate about people sources, but I don't think it takes a genius which qualifies me to do this to believe that the giants told volcano off the record that the two teams that get them in new four fact for a fact. We're going to take Dan Jones before the judge could take them at seventeen war. Denver washington. Now, of course, right on cue. Mike Klis of nine news in Denver who may as well be embedded in the Broncos draft room. At least from the standpoint of John Elway tells them everything which is fine. That's how it works. Close reported. I e Elway told him that the Broncos weren't one of the two teams. What are they gonna say? Now, what are they going to say? They just got drew lock. They want to undermine drew lock by having him. Think he wasn't there guy all along. Elway probably.

"Broncos are gonna open up on Monday night football against the raiders in Oakland. That'll be the late Monday night game. Might it be even the last year. We thought it might have been might be the last time that we do a game call in the Broncos and raiders in Oakland. That's a good question. We were pretty sure it was going to be the last game on hoping was at Christmas Eve Christmas. Yeah. I don't know. Be in Vegas by the twenty twenty season. I don't that stadium will be done. I don't think it's on page. Guess I wouldn't drove by when we're out in Vegas. Yeah. For the Super Bowl. It's may. And that the Rams both. I think are looking good for twenty twenty. Okay. Von Miller was asked about it today said be good to see a be Jon Gruden Trent Brown. Someone I think Mike Klis goes Brandon marshalls went Brandon Marshall. The real question is will surge you didn't make a return heated Broncos chargers two years ago on Monday night. And he hasn't come back. Fangio? Tiger Woods Hughes life. Tiger Woods had a huge comeback over the weekend. Sergio Dipp comeback would be even more money. Said. Yeah, that was hilarious palace. Weird game to watch with Sergio Dipp that was. Mellon's Rex Ryan work together. You don't know what he is being they give us Mike Greenberg. Jalen rose and Laura Rutledge to promote get up. They do Aki stuff. Mike and Mike have done the game Berman and Trent Dilfer do that late game. Bizarre game seemed like they got a lot of complaints about Beth Moen's and Rex Ryan in that game. Right. Sergio Dipp though tip disappeared after that common in the game. Disappeared after the game. At least he made a joke of it. Right, right. Yeah. And that was like the last time. Vance Joseph was having the time. Maybe Sergio Dipp was the problem with fans. He cursed him. Three and one. He did. That's right. That's right. Three in one start. And then the whole thing came off the rails. Six. Well, we'll see. We'll see Dave. So yes, we already talked about the Broncos looks like they're gonna have a couple of prime time games as well. At least a couple then they got, you know, you got flex games later in the year in all of that to factor in as we talked about few minutes the looks like a prime time game against the chiefs. Again, that would be ought to be fun. The one. As at home. I two years the Christmas Eve, even right? That the Broncos last year matched up against the chiefs. Really? Well. To me that game the home game was if you if you had to pick one single game that flipped the season. It would be that game. Kim point lead in the fourth quarter and the defense plan out of their minds and Kansas City converts on I in thirty. They get a first down. I just think about it. I and thirty and they get a first down. You've got a good memory for that kind of stuff. Well, because you know, you're like losing your mind, right? They've got a ten point lead in the fourth quarter in KC scores twice. I remember going into San Francisco at six and six with hope they can you know, what these guys are probably going to win out. We're going to the playoffs the Dave. And then George Kittle George Kibble made a an appearance. At the time of his life showed up the second half. But I mean that was an indicator to me that you know, things were probably gonna change. Having the time of. One very good friend one friend say after that game later the next week. You have no idea the preparation cow put into that game. I said, no, I think I do. Yeah. But the Broncos with everything to play for three games in a row. They had one they came out in the first half in just literally didn't show up. No second half catches. So nice hash. They shut them down on that second. Everybody's talking about. Joe flacco and how great he's looked the last couple of days throwing balls to the wide receivers and tight ends. And there's no doubt about Joe Joe flacco, he's got an aura about him. Is it just his presence is something we haven't seen here since Peyton Manning. Yeah. He's been the guy starting quarterback right in this league for a long time, and you can sort of tell that's how he carries himself. So now, let's just hope that turns out to be a good move feel better quarterback play this year than what they had last year shot a case. But I think they'll the Broncos will get better quarterback play with Joe flacco than what they did last year with case keenum today. Right. What did you take and yesterday? I mean, he looked the part, right? He said at ten I don't want them taking a quarterback. I want to do what's best for the team. But I want to be the guy to go win games. And so then von was asked about it today. And he goes I really like Haskins met him. So he's ten or Devon white or Quinton Williams under the three guys that I really would like take and the next question. I said well yesterday Joe stood right there and said, I don't want them. Take a quarterback at ten. I want this team to win games. With me as a starter. And he's like, oh, hell, yeah. Joe said we don't take a quarterback. So. What you want your FICO to say that Louis? Yeah. Mystic as well. I I'm pretty certain they're going to get better quarterback play the patio. The last three years. John elway. Yeah. Well, he's a lot on that. He did. Yeah. So it's exciting to get him in here. Rich gang Hurrell today. First time he's talked as now though CNN there. He's got the cliches non-answers down. Well, he didn't give as much excited to be here. All that used to. It's not getting better. It's you think I mean, honestly. And I I like the staff if you think rich kangaroo will not give us much ear where do you hear Vic Fangio? He he talked yesterday Donald tells gonna talk tomorrow man, I will submit right now Vic Fangio will set an all time record that will the clips John FOX in terms of saying a lot. But there's the there'll be no information whatsoever. He'll be great at it. He'll do it in a funny way. But he'll be great at it. Let's check some traffic.

"In the media certainly thought that John Elway should get quite a bit of credit. Mike cliffs tweeted out the following isn't saving three million on case keenum and moving up around in the draft somewhat. Ingenious. I think when all this is over Mike Klis and John Elway again apartment together. No one thinks it's ingenious no one thinks. It's someone ingenious it's not. But. Does. John Elway deserve a little bit of credit for this. I'm yes, he does deserve a little bit of credit for being able to not only bring in a better quarterback. But also find a way financially to save the team about three million dollars over what they would have paid. If they would have just cut case keenum. And I think. You honestly, you could go either way I do give him a little bit of credit because look. It's done. He upgraded those two positions get some credit, but. Should we be exalting him as as ingenious? Now, we shouldn't because he made the mess. So he should have to clean it up. And he did get a little bit credit. Not a lot of credit. I think he's he's being credited by being called in genius. Because everyone that seizes trade is making fun of the Redskins. So they're basically saying, hey, he outs minded outsmarted. The Redskins gave them got a got a good deal. So I I think that's worth coming from. It's not that. He he figured out a way to get rid. You know, why don't know with my class? Mike cliffs, it's John Elway brush his teeth this morning Rian shrine him in the hall of fame. He didn't even have to buy close was there for. And that's the other thing too. Does John Elway deserve credit for Daniel Snyder's ineptitude and the people in the organizations apt to maybe a little bit. But he saw an opportunity may did he see it. Yeah. Well, if you look at the Redskins right now, it's like they're sitting on. Well, we have Colt McCoy right now. What else? So he said, oh, here's an opportunity. Right. They're looking for somebody to maybe. Battle with Colt McCoy, push Colton Koi. Start over Coleman, whatever. And he said let me let me see what I can work out with them. Did he know that? I think he did. Did he bring in Joe flacco knowing that he would be able to trade case keenum to the Washington Redskins? I think he knew that there was opportunity to trade, case keenum. I don't think he had something in place or in mind. But I think he looked at the at the landscape and said. I can work this out. Certainly doesn't feel like they went part and parcel is certainly didn't seem like it was flacco in keenum out in one swift move. It took a little bit of time, which you know. Again, brings up the question. Did he know that there was an opportunity? Did he expect to be able to trade him or did? He just say I want flacco, and I'll figure out the rest later again level of credit being deserved by John Elway. And I'm okay with you giving him with people giving him credit, but I'm also, okay? If you want to sit there, and you know, repurpose that Chris rock bid about getting credit for something you're supposed to do. Now. Don't do that in public because as very different connotations. And I you might get in trouble for it. But if you want to sit here and say that John Elway doesn't deserve credit for fixing his own mass. That's fine too. I think you could go either way on that. But the point the bottom line here with the Denver Broncos is that when Vic Fangio was hired. They were better off than the day before. When Joe flacco is brought in they were better off at quarterback than the day before. Now, they are better off financially than they were the day before now that they've been able to trim another three million off of their salary cap number, and it opens them up and projections have them. Think right now a little over twenty with the potential.

"On Colorado's morning news. The Broncos stink busy in the off season that reportedly making a deal with Washington to ship out QB case keenum comes after the team brought in former raven signal caller Joe flacco, let's get into it. With our own Broncos insider, Mike Klis on the live line. Good morning. Mike. Do you think the Broncos got more than they thought? They weren't in the steel. Yeah. I think when they traded for flacco it looked like they were going to have to eat seven million on case keenum's contract that was fully guaranteed. You know, release some and someone else signs them for the minimum, which is a little less than a million. So the Broncos were looking at eating six million. Plus by making this trade, the key was they saved three million dollars. And we'll see if they can put that good use for free agency that opens really kind of opens Monday when you can negotiate with these guys. But then the official opening is Wednesday might take away at least from this part of it. Mike is because John always been taking heat about his choices of quarterbacks of late. But to me, it's like, okay knowledged. He may be made a mistake with case. And he's found a way to at least kind of solve it or move on from it. That's got to be at least a good thing to look at and say, he acknowledged it. Now, he's moving forward. Yup. That's the that's the positive way to look at it. The, you know, the naysayers and the critics will say he messed up with case keenum in the first place. But you're right. I think everyone makes mistakes the keys to not be stubborn and and hold onto your mistakes and aggravate 'em. He is moving on from what he says. I, you know apologies. The case keenum for per se. And he's a mistake. I mean, he he's a gritty guy. And he does have a lot to offer. I think he will upgrade Washington's quarterback situation. And in fact, you know, I bet on them to be there starter season opening starter. But with the Broncos, it just it didn't fit here, he didn't fit and. You know, he Elway thinks wackos and upgrade. And after one year gave cases shot and he's moving on to the to the next guy. Mike, what do you think the Broncos want to do with a young quarterback in terms of the draft in in that kind of thing? I think probably in the draft. You're looking right now, I would say it's most likely in round two through five that they get a quarterback to develop that they think could can come on. Not necessarily the the first round with that number ten overall pick right now, I would say that's doubtful. Maybe we revisit this. After after the the draft as Broncos insider, Mike Klis nine twenty five money's with Pat. The jobs.

"Lewis and Logan. Glad to be here on a Monday, January the twenty-first this one just came by my desk. I wanna tell you, Mike Klis talk and Broncos at five oh five Bronco fans. Hang in there. I wanna learn more about this new staff and the direction I even heard Mike I saw one of its tweets Antonio Brown might come to Denver. We're going to ask Mike all of that. We'll get back to the phones in a second. But I just got this cross my desk. Retirement is not treating Darren McFadden while you remember the NFL running back played ten seasons. He was the number four pick overall pick by the raiders in two thousand eight while he was found asleep at the wheel of his SUV at a what a burger drive through early this morning in text, Texas and arrested for drunk driving. The former raider and cowboy also was charged with resisting arrest. But has been released on bond. What a burger not a good place found asleep early Monday morning. Drunken driving at least he pulled over three zero three seven one three eight five eight five cousin rich, you're on the blow torch, what's up. Hey, how you doing? I'm doing great, man. Kind of channel surfing because basically the officiating on both those games was just atrocious. But I wanted to channel surfing times that I popped onto the Kansas City game. Yeah. Pass and they made the right call that it was not a reception of all did hit the ground. But what I saw is. Yeah. He was already on the ground the ball hit the ground. It was way. But then the patriot. Drive them right back into the ground that to me, we should have been unnecessary roughness. I mean, the guy was down. He didn't need to get his helmet down and turn away pile driving. You know, rich. I will tell you this and thanks for the call, my friend here. Here's the problem. And I said that at the bottom of the hour. No one knows what a penalty is. No one knows what a catches. Nobody knows. What is expected? Even when the score touchdown. They go through all maybe maybe he juggled it. Okay. It's just they need to have one set of rules. These are finely tuned athletes. They are machines. They are the best of the best. Okay. Get officiating crews that can hang with these players to make this NFL NADA joke. Could you imagine? If you gamble the first of all. Well, be careful gambling don't ever bet more than you can lose because they didn't build those hotels in Vegas off people win it. All right. But could you imagine having the saints yesterday and that call I mean, you're probably walking off the roof? Hello, bob. And Lakewood, what's happening? Happy new year YouTube because hey, I'm all for the patriots in Super Bowl. Again. What happens the idea the best man wins? You know, whoever wins gets there. And. Big one. Some they've lost some everyone livers wins the playoff semi finals. Don't know what it all worked up about. Well, no. And I don't think people are worked up. I think when the team's been in nine of the last eighteen Super Bowls when they've been in eight straight AFC championship games. Maybe a wanna, you know, different movie. You know what I mean? It's like having the one DVD in your your cabinet and your watch it over and over and over again, Bella check on the sidelines thrown is Microsoft. Tablet, Brady winning another championship. You know, listen they had five hundred and twenty four yards in total offense. They had thirty six first downs and had nineteen third downs and completed thirteen of there is good as they get. But that doesn't mean I want to see him every time, you know. You know what? I mean. I love my kids. I love them dearly once in a while. Maybe I don't see him for a couple of hours. You know what I mean? And that's how I feel about the New England Patriots. Hello Robert in Denver. You're on eight year on KOA NewsRadio. Nice to hear your voice again low. Hello is this is this is my cousin. My cousin Robert unless you give me money. You gotta because what's up? Why do we give the gene that receives the overtime coin toss advantage white? That's not fair to if you get the coin toss you have the advantage because if you score touchdown the game's over. I don't have a chance to also score a touchdown. Why do they do that? Well, here's the thing. Robert first of all you can't do that in a regular season. I mean, sixteen games is hard enough on these guys body. But if you look at before they got to this rule it used to be whoever scored I in overtime won the game. So they at least changed it to the point where you have to score a touchdown. Now this year they shortened over time from fifteen minutes to ten minutes. That's why you saw more ties this year in the NFL, then you really have ever seen before least. I can remember. Seeing them. And and they make you score touchdown now yesterday both games went into overtime and New Orleans had the ball first. They didn't get it done. Pat's had pets had the ball. First. They got it done. I don't understand why Andy Reid didn't call a timeout. When the patch were down low, and they weren't their team was out of gas. When they knew if they scored they would the game would be over. Hey, we're going to get one more call in. Then it's Mike Klis after Cory Lopez news, and let's say hi to let's say hi to our friend John in the Black Forest. What a beautiful part of Colorado. Hi, lou. Hi, johnny. Hey. You know, my ex wife was from Connecticut. She always got past at me when I called a pass the patsies. I'll tell you what they're a good team. They deserve. What they got. You can't. He can't. Check. And and Brady are the top. Well, yeah. And, you know, their own a Robert Kraft. He's unbelievable to John. He has has given them everything they wanted. Here's the thing. I'm not the patriots aren't good. They are a dynasty what they have done in the last eighteen years is unbelievable. But with that said I'd like to see somebody else, you know, the last time the Kansas City. Chiefs win the Super Bowl. Was in nineteen seventy Lenny Dawson, hang strength nineteen seventy that's fifty years ago. It was the nineteen sixty nine season. I would like to have seen them in there. And I still think the NFL through the New Orleans game because they need the LA market and their fans.

"Mike Klis will join us at five oh five there's been a lot happening with our Broncos. And in case if you haven't been able to keep up, Mike Klis will get you and me hoped up and up to speed with the latest changes of the Denver Broncos oil even go Branson from Viking power. He'll check in at six o'clock tonight or at six o five to see how we are doing implementing healthy options for the new year. We'll also talk Super Bowl is the teams are now set the saints were robbed yesterday. If you saw that game. I don't care if you're a Rams fan a saints fan. The saints were robbed late in the game versus the Rams. It was believable. Unbelievable. I hadn't seen anything like that. I come and a little more on that love to get your thoughts. But I'm gonna tell you something I believe, and I'll tell you in a few minutes. Don't move a Metallica in a few minutes about what I think went down. And why that play wasn't called that penalty wasn't called yesterday. The patriots whose tougher than the patriots. I mean on believable. Unbelievable. What the pats did I'll talk a little bit about the pats and their dissecting of the Kansas City Chiefs. I'm filling in today because it is Martin Luther King junior day. I was lucky I was lucky enough to be alive during the civil rights movement back in the sixties. There was no internet, no social media, but the whole country followed the change we were rightfully going through back then would love to get your thoughts of that time period in the sixties throughout the show. Think about this. It wasn't until nineteen sixty five that blacks were able to vote legally in this country without being harassed. I was alive on April fourth nineteen sixty eight when Dr king was shot and killed at the Lorraine motel in Memphis. And you know, we talk about today being, you know, fifty years fifty one years later at all. All the craziness in this country. I'm Italian one thousand nine hundred sixty eight we had the democratic convention in Chicago worth the protesters were getting beat the police mayor Daley's crew back then we also had Bobby Kennedy in nineteen sixty eight who was gonna run for president shot down in a Los Angeles hotel, Martin Luther King shot down and killed on April fourth nineteen sixty. So there was a lot of craziness craziness going on in in this country. When I was just a youngster now how many of you seen the green book two hands on the wheel just nod your head. Okay. I see. Okay. So you saw the green book the Lorraine motel where doctor king was killed was listed in the green book. And I don't know if you even know what the green book is. But it was a guide. For back, then they were called colored people to for them to know where to go safely. In the south. And and where they could stay. While they were in the south. So the green book, I thought was a great movie. Hope you got to see that. And I also saw bohemian rhapsody and now is a great movie and on and on and on buckle buckling. Enjoy the show as we will do our best to inform you and entertain you until seven o'clock now going back to the saints game real quick. I hope you did not wage for those of you who do like to wager. If you had the saints yesterday in that football game. Have you ever had more of a brutal beat the net game yesterday? I mean that seemed unfair. Seem totally totally unfair. But did you here with an Atlantic City? Sportsbook is doing a sportsbook in New Jersey is offering betting credits for customers who bet on the New Orleans Saints due to the widespread belief that the team was victimized by a blown call by referees during its loss Sunday in the NFC championship game points that initially said Monday, it would refund all wagers on the spread and money lime bets on the saints who lost the game after the officials failed to call a penalty on the Rams defender who leveled a New Orleans receiver long before the ball arrived. But later in the afternoon that company said the refunds would come in the form of bonus bats, not cash payout. So I thought that was pretty interesting that at least they agreed. And I'm going to give you my thoughts on that three zero three seven one three eight. Five eight five you can call in talk. Saints Rams Martin Luther King patriots Super Bowl. Whatever you like. It's a smorgasbord Monday afternoon right here on the fifty thousand watt blowtorch, News.

"On the roads in it could get worse here as the temperature start to fall a little bit. Nighttime. They say is going to be the toughest driving once the sun goes down, which is going down now, and you know at that press conference yesterday. Everybody was really impressed with Vic Fangio the new Denver Broncos head coaching, and you as you said to Mike Klis, Dave it was apparent. He's his own man. I didn't see him coming in as a. Yes man after that press conference yesterday. He's I think. He's coming in with with some some moxie and a. I'm the guy in the interesting. What happened today I had Mitch Mitch and Ryan on my morning show who played for him in Chicago for four years. And he he called him a genius. He said he is a genius. That's the word used that's high praise. That's high praise. Indeed. Yeah. I think that I mean a couple of things are worth noting here. I think that when I said to Mike it's a bad look only because. There was every indication that was going to get brought back and it brought this feeling of stability, right? Because you're aware of what Gary brings to the organization, but that said, listen, and I've said for the longest time, they gotta find ways to score more points, and they have to find a way to sort of upgrade offensively, and you know. Embrace kind of where the league is going with some of the some of the college concepts that we've seen other teams employ successfully for the last, you know, two three four years. Now, I do think player personnel is a real key to that. Right. You can have all the great ideas and all the concepts. If you don't have the right players to run that stuff. You're not going to be successful. But I'm okay. Also with the idea that depending on who's going to be the offense coordinator, and what exactly the offense looks like I'm okay with you know, maybe the organization saying listen. We're thinking about Gary. But then not all the guys that used to be here and not the offense that we once had because that's not where we see this thing going, and I thought Mike cliffs brought up a good point. If you look at even the AFC west by itself. I mean, you're gonna have to score points as long as Philip rivers is able to stand up and throw a ball. The chargers are going to be legit on offense. And they're pretty good on defense. And we already know what Patrick Mahomes brings to the division. So you got to be able to score points. And I am so eager to see who they bring in. And what this offense actually looks like with three or four key additions that I think they are missing right now. No matter who the next coordinator is and no matter what the offense looks like I think the bad look was that they had blocked him from sure being interviewed that's the bad part. But you would assume all intentions were good from the Broncos and John Elway. Those guys have been best friends for. For a long time. And sometimes things just go wrong. Yeah. And and so yeah, it looks like it happened. I hope he gets a job. Mike Klis seem to think he was going to. I hope he gets a good job in this here. I think Gary again, I've said this before they is a really good football coach he has a way of interacting with players young adults grown men and and getting the best out of them. I think there was a question. And I think it's a legitimate question as to whether or not. The offense would look appreciably different moving forward than what it looked like when Gary was here. My my thought was it again, if you're stuck or if you like, depending on your perspective, case keenum moving forward. The Gary would have a pretty good way with that quarterback position. Because I've seen what he's done me, Jake plumber, even even talked about him when he was on our show and gave such high praise to Gary kubiak Jacob been league six years and said, hey, I I learned more from Gary kubiak about playing that position in understanding really everything I need to do and learn about playing quarterback than I did in the first six years of my entire career. So you Gary is good in that in that aspect, but I am excited on the other hand to see again who the next coordinator's going to be in what this offense will look like. And is it brought sort of into the twenty first century it. You know, what I mean is it does it have a few the things that we see in? Kansas City, and we see in even Seattle either predominantly run team. Some of the other teams that are utilizing again, some of these collegian concepts with the Broncos sort of morph into that starting this year. And we assume that acopia could get more out of keenum than yes, we got out of him last year. And now, I'm starting to wonder if case keenum believing be back, maybe maybe Vic Fangio came. I'm not I'm not a big fan. And did face him twice the year before right because he was in Minnesota and was the D coordinator Shunde brought that up at the. But he also when they asked him he said he's our quarterback for now. Yeah. So you know, that's been talked about. Yup. Because they both he and John Elway both use the same terminology. Did they did? It's it's so interesting. Let us get a break here for fifty five. I know the roads are bad and getting worse will get you a traffic update coming up and make sure you stay tuned. "Mike Klis just tweeted out response from von Miller senior who just stepped in to try to clean it up. He said, that's a mom protecting her babies, quote, unquote. And he said we would much rather Vaughn spend the rest of his career in Denver. But we don't have any control over it and his mom feels the same way with all honesty. We're Denver fans for life were Denver parrots for life. But that's the only control we have bond Miller senior. Yeah. I think that's that's a pretty good effort of claiming that he did he find job with that. Listen, I I I don't think we can hold bonds. Mom. You know to too much hold her feet to the fire for that. I think what the dad said is exactly right. It's mom getting defensive about her, son. I mean, how many how many how many mothers out there have never been defensive about something that is either been said or intimated or talked about with respect to one of their children. And I I feel like Vons mom didn't realize the I guess the the platform she has on her Instagram with seven hundred some followers that somebody in the sports world in Denver would do us tick a screen shot. And then put it out there. I think that probably blew up and she wasn't expecting it. And I would think that von probably called home and said Ma come on. You're killing me. It's so dead stepped in and goes, hey, I'll clean this up. Yeah. There's probably how it went down. We we went to the last break. Rick with Dave is a call. We're talking about. Several things with respect to von and sort of his view of the Broncos. And I think honestly. There are a couple of things couple of points that he made that I would I would agree with. I think that the team is I didn't hear John say the team was in a better place. So I I was at the press conference. I didn't hear that that particular question. I don't think it takes. Intestinal fortitude to ask that question. Because I think it's a it's a rather dumb question. Frankly, I didn't hear it asked. But let me who who who in the right mind would look at. We're the Broncos are now after the eighteen season and say they're in a better spot that they were in two thousand fifteen you'd have to be stuck on stupid. So I think it's a dumb question. I think it's a question that if in fact, it was asked to mean, no disrespect to whomever asked the question. But I think it was asked in a way to elicit some sort of Gotcha moment. I would say this. I think that they have missed in John has been at the helm. They have missed on draft choices the single biggest miss for this team has been Paxton Lynch, and it has hamstrung this team in a variety of ways they traded assets to move back up into the. First round. And they did exactly what the chiefs did with respect to aquarium Patrick Mahomes. The difference is they missed in the chiefs hit big if Paxton Lynch. Were a player and it turned into be even not as good as Patrick Mahomes. But a player we wouldn't be sitting here having this conversation. We wouldn't be I think talking about who's going to be the next head coach of the Broncos wouldn't happen. But that's that.

"All right for Michael's. But if you look at Sierras at three ninety eight, right? And that's kind of the steals independent. I believe that he can keep even like a six percent walk great, but that's going to be two percent more. That is still going to be a jump up and it is really the strikeouts for me that that makes it tough because everything else has to be. So you're right. It is three fifty. He will stay in the in the top fifty because even Tehran because you can't even say, win loss record because Tehran only nine eight and he's right there. Three ninety seven one ninety. So it would have to push closer to four for Michael's, but then with those strikeouts being down. So again, I'm talking probably sixty percents. This is like a bottom falls out. It's just more boys ation back to the median for him. So I wonder about make Las what we're actually going to get. Because when we talked about. Him the spicy fiery side chat way back in what was it may side of whatever in the end of April, the fiery side. What argument was I think that he's still had KF side that he might tap into and you never really show that he said moments of it, but it says are sent work for the year. No raise it up to a nine percent swing strike rate, and we've have discussion on the fires before. But when I see a row with rate, I generally my head multiply that by two or soup went five sort hand writes that nine percent which raised to eighteen or anywhere from eighteen to twenty two around there. In my it could be a little lower. Like right now it's seventeen, but I think that could should be higher and I won't be surprised. He pushes twenty two sliders. The really, really good, very close to being money pitch. It's not, but it's very close. I guarantee you many in their mind because they look in his profile, believe that Mike Klis soft Kassir because that's just what people do, but he's not when they see like a low, tiny, tiny walkner guy. Doesn't get a lot of whiffs. Oh know there's ninety. Four ninety five ninety six with regularity. And to your point about this strike rate since in the second half, it's up to ten percent. So then if you're looking at that at a two, two and a half because the shorthand is, yeah, I agree with you. I do too to ex- on swinging strike rate is expected strikeout rate and then they can kind of jump from that depending on. But he also doesn't go for them too. So that's one, right. Yeah. You think he's very open thing and I want get fifty. Saint ground ball. All right. Let's on the ground. Let's get it done here. We have Colton Wong at second base, pretty good young. Isn't that good into them? But the bottom line is, I do think that Mike was could add strikeouts really blow it up in my face, but I'm not. I'm not betting on it. Yeah, that's fair. Prove cord ball bid. It's officially throws strike Ed or if you want percents rate and sub ten percents straight, but about two fifty batting average allowed and he's just be a little bit better at fighting the bomb zone on hang out, sagacity slap it mean but will slime comedy to, excuse me. I was so back to and I do think that I mean you had these hyper nine eight point. Seven. Yeah, I don't think that's something could drastically change. And I do think he's going to continue having a low walk out, seem going about five percent. I really think that's what he does. Seven percent in fourteen in twenty fourteen fifty seven innings when he was back in the writer. So he's the control piece has been there for my Galasso despite these are kind of negative slants. This is still guy. I'm probably going to pick an few weeks. I don't think there's going to be a tax on this, right? So I I go back and forth here. Yeah, you see how this could go poorly..
