"It washed it and filled up with gas reserve on Thursday afternoon when they brought the car back to me well we got in Formula One we could go through the car wash the brake light turned on okay if we can get the care you can you can take it and then take a local dealership the defense sector you want will take it for you and they said that it should be service guys what it looked like it was just the brake system needed to be re program which I'm not sure I understand that so I could you know what I want to take possession of it you take it then call me so now are talking yesterday medication could have looked at it and what I heard today this technician take a quick look at it yesterday I'll be the it has some kind of electrical issue the brake system and community programs and going to take a look at it on Monday so I bought the thing on Thursday afternoon never took possession of it and now I gotta wait till Monday to try and figure out what the problem is there a problem Michael Michael Michael it is what are my options look at this point back completely out of it because you didn't take possession here if you sign all the paperwork I assume you did yes this may cause but a lot of money down on it find a four year alone on it and I've got insured so but I've never I never took the keys out of the test drive and I was thinking I never took possession of it I think there's a I mean there's elements of a deal in the state of Texas that is not complete until a couple things happen to want to sign all the paperwork to is driving it away you didn't get to that spot they don't have you're not obligated to that deal now I think this this couple things I'd want to do is if it's if they took it to a Ford dealership to get it fixed under warranty I want to know what they did and the second thing before I ever drove it off the lot I would want to know why somebody got rid of it that have low mileage truck they they they afford being traded in a Chevy dealership tells me that that person who owns that truck got sick of it and it's probably because of recurring problems so you don't have to buy if you proceed on I'd be very very cautious but I would want to know those two things.

"Michael Michael Bauer Bauer on on board board our our NBC NBC national national correspondent correspondent and and got got the the voting that's taking place in well it was supposed to be Michael in for state turning today heroes on a Florida Illinois and Ohio but I understand Ohio's decided to wait awhile yeah I voters at least at this point will not be voting today the Ohio department of health issued an order last night to postpone the primary election citing the corona virus pandemic along with other concerns from the governor Mike DeWine there was a pitch made to a judge yesterday in order to shut this thing down because it was concerned of a corona virus that judge judge Richard fry declined the request saying that the postpone the vote would set a terrible precedent he was also indicating that with such short notice twelve hours at that time to go before the election that it was not in the order the order of a judge to make a decision like this in the diving should be left up to the legislature to cast their votes so I don't mind saying that they are going to have that boat gestures into because a day ago his secretary of state as well as the secretary of state's from the three other states that are also up for primaries today all sent out a letter saying we're going to have our election that we're doing everything we can to make sure that everything will be as healthy and clean and sanitized in order to post guidance from local health officials at voting locations we're all good to go and for some reason Ohio decided to back out of it meanwhile the other states right there from your great state of Florida and Arizona and Illinois are all moving forward at this point in time with their voting today for the primary and it looks as though if you're just kind of looking at some of the polling you're taking a look at Florida Biden is up by thirty eight points over us according to real clear politics up by thirty points over Bernie Sanders in Arizona between seventeen and twenty point over Bernie Sanders in Illinois by between twenty one and thirty eight point over Bernie Sanders whether or not this corona viruses slows down the what had been at least apparently clear cut a record number of people who are coming to the polls we get to see and does this slow down the show meant as they've been putting this is a victory for Bernie Sanders on some lights they give your slowing everything down from Joe Biden's side maybe this means that Bernie Sanders would have a chance with all this sort of pulls together again at least for Ohio after June second

closing of of businesses businesses and and schools schools Gottlieb Gottlieb did did offer offer reassurance reassurance saying saying quote quote we'll we'll get get through through this this another another former former democratic democratic presidential presidential candidate candidate is is endorsing endorsing Joe Joe Biden Biden in a video on Twitter California senator Kamilla Harris threw her support behind the former vice president saying quote I believe in joke we need a leader who really does care about the people and who can therefore unify the people and I believe Joe can do that and with us right now was ABC news political analyst Steve Roberts Steve what a difference a week makes it did you anticipate Joe Biden picking up this mode the momentum this quickly no I have not I don't think anybody did I I think what we're what we're seeing though is a fascinating phenomena based on one word and that word is fear it's fear of Donald Trump and fear of Bernie Sanders Joe Biden has not been reborn as some useful charismatics move talking energetic candidates Joe Biden today is still the same Joe Biden that people have a lot of doubts about two weeks ago two months ago two years ago the difference is that Democrats have so desperate so frantic to find somebody who can beat Donald Trump that they decided that day either as a group and individually as voters and as candidates they'll camel Harris being an example of of having to rally around somebody and then choosing between Biden and Sanders the fear of Bernie Sanders is pulling the party too far to the left so there's a lot of energy around the Biden candidacy right now but in my view it's largely negative energy it's driven by fear it's driven by desperation there are not a lot of Democrats even this morning jumping up and down in Saint Joe Biden's gonna be a great candidate a great president but this negative energy is very powerful and that's what's driving this trend do you think it's now his to lose or is it too early to say that definitely has to lose end up and I think it's gonna be very difficult for Bernie Sanders to rebound here the one variable of course the one no wild card is by himself as I say he has not been report he's still the guy who can show astounding lapses of judgment he's still the guy who could make gaffes he's still the guy who can show his age very clearly he's still the guy who can appear fumbling and uncertain and in debates with Bernie Sanders and interviews it's still entirely possible for him to make damaging mistakes I think a lot of Democrats even if they rally around by they're holding their breath and hoping that Biden will get its act together and I've seen some signs a few signs of Byton improving on the stop I think he's shown a little bit more energy I think the campaign line about I'm the candidate of those who have been left behind it counted out is a defective and powerful line really echoes of a bill to written of nineteen ninety two the comeback kid although Biden's hardly a kid he's more the comeback teaser than the comeback kid and also this line of of of appealing to the concepts of dignity and civility and normalcy I think they provide a fairly stark contrast to the president who's in the oval office now but Biden is still Biden it was all of his flaws but at this point he's the Democrats best hope and it's gonna be very difficult for Sanders to capture Steve thanks for your thoughts again this morning ABC news political analyst Steve Roberts it's also worth noting that this morning one of the former candidates US senator Cory Booker came out in support of Joe Biden for president the company's time five fifty one seventy two are propelling turns money update writer says Boeing's proposal to leave Michael Smith on the Paul Finebaum Show

"You're listening to the Paul Finebaum Show podcast and we're delighted to welcome all of you back. Oh one of the Tru truly great reporters On the on the college sports business seen in Michael Smith joining us now. In one of the most recent issues of the Sports Business Journal talking about The first six years of the College Football Ballpoint Michael Great to have you on we. We're always looking for ways to talk. I'd rather do it other than on the only on the air. But we're delighted to have you here and I wanna I just first of all Just have you do reflect on some of the reporting that you did in this piece as well as your own observations of the first uh for six years of the College Football playoff. Hey Paul thanks for having me So good catch up with you and You know the point of the story was to look at the College Football Playoff Championship game. We're six years into it now. The the deal it is being goes twelve years so we felt like at at this midpoint on the TV contract. It was a good time to kind of take stock of what has worked what has not worked and so we went out and hold a lot of marketing then media experts and got their opinions on on that question and so as you can imagine. Most of the feedback was positive It's better than the system we had before But it still leaves a lot of questions in terms of how do you grow the TV audience. Had He made it. It could schedule more consistent so we don't have two weeks between the semi final and final. How do we keep games off of New Year's Eve questions like that that they continue to come up and no real solution for right now you also took look with ESPN executives About the time of the game. And that's a that's that's a complaint you get all the time this year. The game ended. I think twelve fourteen no the game a couple of years ago when even later an and Michael you and I live on the East eastern time zone we forget there are people in California who are three hours behind us but That's not going to change. There's a no it's not gonNA change you know. Five of the six championship games have gone past midnight. And like you said some going well past midnight and that's where it really comes down to. How competitive the game is and with LSU pulling away at that point the viewer show probably after midnight was not as great raise. It would have been saved for the Alabama Georgia overtime game. No it's a really good point Let me ask you since you are You know all these people pool and I know you just go through spending some time and can't wait to hear more about it with Jim Delany in Nashville. Who Retired how? How does college football allow the Big Ten and the PAC twelve and more importantly the Rosebowl? Aw dictate everything else that goes around it. The that's kind of age old question June and You know there. There's such an allegiance. There's such loyalty to to the ball. Games like especially the Rosebowl like you pointed out often and that really is one of the major factors. You know the rosebowl being locked in at that time. New Year's Day on factors I y you cannot consistently put the semifinals on New Year's Day. And then come back with the championship game a week later And there there's just It's almost hard to explain. But there there's such a sense of The the Rose Bowl has been so. Oh good to college football that you do have loyalists like Jim Laney and others the you know who the SEC. In the sugar bowl for example that They they don't want to relinquish that. And so the only way to make sure the Rose Bowl and sugar bowl maintain that status as they own new year's Day. I wonder again. I have great admiration for Delaney and the fact that I would give him the credit here. I think you can correct a For being able to do this and then what did the SEC do. As you've reported Mike's life came in and said okay. If they're going to do that we wanna own the sugarbowl Slob of the problem with the sugar. The ball slot. Mike is at the game. Doesn't start till nine o'clock right. You know that's you know that's an aspect active Of all the experts that we talked to media marketing is worth. We talked to the one criticism or the one Miss when you talk about a hitter misses that kept coming up was the inconsistency the scheduling and maybe not being able to capitalize as much on in the semifinal games as they would like you know we saw the TV audience really spiked with that first championship game between Satan Oregon Oregon and since then it's Kinda settled in lower number right around twenty five million viewers. That's a fantastic crowd in this definitely It definitely gives. ESPN the ability to own that that evening. But when you think about the Super Bowl being eighty five to ninety million million viewers compared to twenty five million for the College Football Championship. You wonder how. How is the CFPB championship game? Going to grow its viewership and And the inconsistency of this is one of the factors that a lot of people pointed to that that could limited going forward and and I wonder listen. I don't I don't want to minimize twenty five million people That's a big number and when you look at the most watched events of the year after the super bowl off the collar after the Super Bowl and the in the NFL playoffs College football biggest night is huge. But I'm just watching it this week and I realized the Kobe tragedy has has cast a pall but From here on as you know Michael you're in the sports business world the Super Bowl. Aw is as big of an event as there is in the world and college. Football just seem like it's sandwiched in between the NFL. Playoff off games on Saturday and Sunday right. So this schedule if you think about it There were three. NFL Sundays in between the semi finals. The final amazing and so that goes back to the consistency question the scheduling and being able to maximize the opportunity to college. Football has to to own certain days as and when you think about cargo owning January first and neither the finals nor the semifinals are on January. First it seems a little counterintuitive and January. I was a huge day. I mean the the audience for the Michigan Alabama Citrus Bowl was was Gargantuan and so it's not like ESPN is going broke on this. I mean they're still doing pretty well. And maybe maybe the maybe. Maybe they're better off owning the semi final day and New Year's Day. I don't know I'm just a lowly employees at ESPN. But my question to you is what happens next We're sick. We're we're six years in then every year. There's this rampant speculation that something's about to change and it never seems to. You know all these people you spend a lot of time with the college football powerbrokers our brokers Between now and when are they going to alter if assuming they are the college. Football playoff are more people are more schools getting again we. That's a great question and an access is is definitely one of the one of the questions that I post a lot of the people that work in that space and There's there seems to be a consensus that that the commissioners at least are willing to talk about. That's a good thing. That's a step forward but I don't know of anyone who thinks it's going to happen before this. This twelve year contract runs. It runs its course and so it could happen in the next contract. I I definitely think it's something that will be discussing the talk about you know not keep coming back to this loyalty to bowl games. One of the one of the arguments that I hear against the eighteen playoff is about those four teams that lose in the in the quarterfinals awesome. They don't get the bowl experience. Well if you're one of those four teams they lost in the quarterfinals. Would you rather have a shot at being in the playoff. Who would you rather be able to spend a couple of days at a theme park having your bowl experience and so those it almost sounds kind of silly but those are the kind of conversations that are taking place when they're contemplating expansion and let me ask you Michael I mean this year we had the the the the peculiarity of the lending tree bowl in mobile with all due. Respect to lending three which happens to be headquartered around the corner from where we were sitting having a bowl game on Monday night and I realized I was a Corcoran the schedule but that late in the process I mean is that experience really that meaningful. I I've been to the College Football Bowl Association. I've heard what those guys say and they work very hard but still It just seems discombobulated up to me and many others. Yeah you know I. I guess that's just to me the the the the mid to third week in December bowl and and also the ones that you're talking about leading up to the championship game and early January. I just you know. Obviously they're important. TV CONTENT FOR ESPN but also they provide an opportunity to go on. PREGAME halftime the post game to talk about the next game. And so it's all part of the build up in an intersection that way. You know one other thing. I was thinking about fall. We're talking about kind of the future of the CFP in this current contract in years. Eleven and twelve. They're still to championship game sites to be determined. And that's something that will happen in the next couple of years but That's one of the things I'm GONNA be. Watching is what two cities are able to land. There's there's last two championship games in this twelve year cycle. What I'm curious before you go? What what are the next couple of years? Look like for the CIP in terms of In terms of site well Indianapolis is in there somewhere. It it is Is going to go obviously Miami and La to the new stadium in Houston. Okay then those last two years are to be determined. But you could definitely envision like Las Vegas a while you could invade eh envision somebody like Orlando that has bid for championship games in the past. you could go to north to a minneapolis or two met met life in New Jersey New York Those are those are some of the sites that I think this year Vegas is going to get a pretty good workout with what's to the NFL draft and everything else. It's hard to imagine not being in the Niger. That's a lot of a lot of places are going Michael Michael Fascinating If it's a really incredible read and of course anytime Vince Thompson is quoted. Is Peloton a Fitness Fad or a Tech Company?

"On this show. We clearly talk a lot about tech companies. There's some some obvious ones apple Microsoft alway and then they're all the startups that have changed our lives in recent years. Like the ridesharing APPS UBER and lift or food delivery companies like post mates and seamless and sometimes we take a step back and think wait. Is that Really Tech Company. We were talking about that with columnist. John on stole the other day and our episode about the luggage company away. And it's something. He's been thinking about lately especially connected to the fitness industry specifically the stationary bike company. Pelton so John's back to continue the conversation with us today. Hey John thanks for joining us. The driven me. I'm not on my Peleton. I just got off. So let's go. Let's go well. We could have been on the phone with you on your pilot and that would have made it so much more exciting but you would it. It would've been very embarrassing. I I'm I'm a low performer. On the Peleton leaderboard okay. So let's back up a little bit. POYTON has been in a battle L. with some of its competitors it sued both flywheel sports and echelon fitness in the last couple of years. What's at stake here? What exactly are they fighting over there? Fighting over depending on which company we're talking about that they're fighting they're fighting over technology patents intellectual property that both sides accused each other her of borrowing stealing lifting copying off their neighbors sort of test scores. So this goes back several years to the beginning of a movement called connected fitness. Basically take a smart tablet like a touchscreen tablet you hook it to your stationary bike and you begin begin. Pipe lining in a live or archived session with a high level instructor. What makes it? Unique is the leader board that is available available with the instructor showing you all the people that are in the class. Not just in the class proper in the physical class all over the world and these numbers can balloon to hundreds the thousands of people and it doesn't matter when you're taking the class it's dynamic in a way that it makes you feel like you're taking the class in real time competing with all these people in real time even if it's a week or a month take the classes taking place. So what is what are they fighting over there fighting over the intellectual property in this idea of the leaderboard. Yeah I mean Peleton a saying we came up with this dynamic with they call time sink leaderboard if you think about watching an Olympic sport like swimming and you watch Michael Michael Phelps. You know trying to break another record. There will be an could be as if he's competing against the old record holder from nineteen eighty-four. Whomever that swimmer was that set the record before you would see Phelps trying to beat that in real time very similar technology that Peleton says it spent a lot of time and money and engineering talent Jalan trying to develop and so fly will if I and the national on second came out with bikes dead operated very similar to its technology did Move to protect those patents not immediately but after those products come onto the market so this is basically an intellectual property dispute in in the fitness world. How strange is that for? This industry are how how common is that. For this industry I think the intellectual property if we take it out of the tech Rome Just the idea that somebody has come up with. A nifty idea in fitness is very common for someone to want to protect that. Whether it's Typo or Zimba Numba or Richard Simmons techniques or the Hula Hoop. I mean there's been decades if not a century of trying to patent ideas that people may have been doing this for for decades or centuries that it's just somebody came up with a better name for it. Those are hard to actually prosecute because the defendants often say this is a very ambiguous idea. This idea of using this specific routine to crunch avs is not novel or unique. I can do it too in. Don't sue me and so they don't often hold up in a court of law. What's unique about Peleton's John's argument here is that they're going into the world of algorithms in data not like sit ups and push ups when you start talking about specific technology that power software anywhere? There is a much more rich and robust precedent of companies being able to protect that sort of Ip and get money have settlements or even cease and desist on the other end. Underline the thing. That's so interesting here. Is that politics is I mean. Obviously lots of fitness makers you named the number of devices making devices is for fitness is also not a new thing but they still call themselves fitness companies. The air really talking about themselves as Tech Company so I WANNA kind of get back to that first conversation that we were having about. What does it take to be attacked company? And why is it important that a ride sharing APP or Salads Delivery Service or luggage company is calling themselves attack company. Why is that so common now and why is it so important? I think I think there's a couple of things if you unpack that idea. So the technology enables better life and it may enable enables better usage so if I'm a typical stationary bike rider later. I'm going to be bored to death after an hour. It's not going to happen for me with my short attention span so I have to turn on television and listen to music and even that can get old and I'd be like I'm just GonNa go outside and go on regular your bike or do something else. So there's the boredom factor there's also the lack of community factor in fitness particularly Solar Solo Sports. That make them rather dull and so so when you can bring technology like Says it has into the equation that actually makes people addicted to the type of even if it pseudo community that exists all over the world at the same time competing against each other. Instructors do it through the Internet software data algorithms and have a living testament in real time to how well you're doing you begin to talk about having a solution that people would see as technology enabled and not just fashion you know belts and and nuts and bolts. Why that's important is it could be the thing that enables breakneck growth? Not just fitness industry type of growth but tech company. Any sort of growth. We're talking double digits. Year over year expansive massive growth at propels a company like to the billions of dollars of revenue range. That is very atypical for a single fitness company. The place where I work out lifetime fitness taken like quarter-century to get to a billion dollars in revenue Peleton's tons track has been a lot faster. So you've got that you've also got the ability to charge more and ask investors to value you hire when those metrics bricks are actually working out so subscriber growth has been very robust at collegehype. Meeting People Shell Out Thirty Bucks Forty Bucks a month for Peleton's subscription way more than spotify defy or Netflix or Amazon prime to have access to the content and the real real time competitions and putting go back to investors and say look. This group is what they recall sticky. They're going to keep coming back. It's a endless source of revenue for us. We're not just selling a bike. Were selling a service and that really is often what we think of when we talk about it enabled the technical solution and so then investors start to say well okay. The typical fitness company gets this kind of multiple but Peleton's worth eight and a half billion dollars because we see them as a tech company upholding. Narrative is really important. Yeah and I mean we've seen other companies kind of fall from grace very publicly. We talked what about we work. They're valued at one billion but they were supposedly worth forty seven billion until investors basically realized yet. There's not as much tack here as just like take a landlord. Is there a danger in that kind of Thinking that kind of valuation we're finding out the pitfalls and the benefits fits in real time so we were a great example going from the forties of billions of dollars evaluation. To eight billion. Almost overnight is dramatic and intense but a company like uber or or lift which have filed appeals in the last year or so have really struggled to get over the initial evaluation and you don't invest in a company just for it to remain stagnant. You might as well by a bond if you just want a fixed income. You know that doesn't deliver much growth. The IPO Uber was supposed to be the sort of thing that skyrocketed so yeah there's companies that position themselves as tech companies and then investors start to figure out or asking scratch their head. Is this company really company. I think Peleton's valuation is much more modest that said they have struggled to get over the initial IPO price and they've shown some weakness in the months since they filed nothing to to do with the tech but more to do with the brand and so a lot of people would argue Peleton's a great marketing and brand company. But when they make a mistake like putting on an ad that a lot of people see a sexist Texas you see the the share price gets hit pretty hard and maybe it shows that this company just has a really strong brand that means to protect in that technology. Now on the the other side of the foot you've got tesla which for years has been talking about being tech company and has been valued very often like a car company and all of a sudden as they start to prove out the main player in the electric vehicle technology sector. There were eighty ninety one hundred billion dollars while lead the other guys in the dust. What kind of impact can this? The expanded definition of Tech Company have on an industry. We we've just been talking about the fitness industry. We're seeing it. We've seen it play out in some others. What kind of what kind of impact does it have? Well I think you can get everybody rushing to prove that they're also a tech company. You look at some of the alleged copycats in Peleton's wake it's not just. The companies is that they're suing. It's Nordic track it's it's bowflex it's makers of rowers and elliptical machines. treadmills all in all trying to tell the consumer or now that they too are tech companies. They may not even be striving to go public but they they do have investors and they do have employees and they do have customers that I'll also need to believe believe. Hey I don't want to just by the run on the treadmill for a few hundred bucks if I'm in the market I'll spend more if I can get more and so a lot of the conventional players begin acting like tech companies binny's whether that succeeds or not is a sector-by-sector it's very hard for a Marriott. For instance to convince people that their AIRBNB and other company see that's about to go public and has convinced everybody because of the efficacy in the in the ease of use of its APP. People say this is Tech Company. Even though it's a hospitality company it also also creates this kind of momentum and energy on the positive side can create momentum and energy where you get new entrance all the time so we may see better solutions to all kinds of exercise issues or even a lowering of the cost of entry. Peleton cost twenty five hundred bucks. I mean this is a first first world like premium one percent type of product. This is not for the masses. But maybe you'll start to see more companies crowd in as the cost of the technology comes down down as the amount of people wanting it so that the scale rises you begin to see better. Solutions Typically come in the market not always the case but sometimes the case that an industry can get better when they started thinking a bit more about the how technology data could make them better. It's a fascinating conversation. I'm sure we're going to keep having it. John Still thank you so much true joining us and that was your tech news briefing. I'm Correo come from the Wall Street Journal in New York. Thanks for listening.

Grammys chief removed 10 days before ceremony

"President. Deborah Dugan has been placed on administrative leave after only five months on the job. She's the first woman to lead the recording academy in at sixty three year history. The Academy says dougans removal followed an allegation workplace misconduct. But a lawyer Dugan describe something that sounds like a coup saying she had complained about the academy's Governance Michael Wood is the pop music critic critic for the L. A. Times he profile do in just a few days ago. Michael thanks for coming back on the show. Glad to be here so before we get into dougans removal. What was the the climate that she was brought into at the recording academy so Deborah replaced at Neil port now? He was there for seventeen years and and I think generally well regarded by many in the music industry looked out by some as a bit. Old fashioned He made made a lot of trouble for himself a couple of years ago when he was asked After the Grammy's why so few women had performed on the show and won major major awards and he sort of rambling response. said that women should step up. That was the word if they wanted to be recognized that the grammys so caused housed an understandable controversy. Eventually he leaves the job and Dugan comes in what was her mandate what was she asked to do. And what was the recording academy trying to do in terms of changing its image. I've talked to people who said that she was brought in to be a change agent. That's what somebody said to me. Brought in to sort of fix some of the old boys club problems that had been viewed as a part of the recording academy culture She talked a lot about asking the right questions looking at everything to see what might be changed and hasn't just because it's sort of always been like that other people have said that appetite for change was maybe a little bit greater than the Board at the academy. So I think the question of mandate that's sort of one right now you profiled just a couple of days ago in the La Times. What did she say then? Her priorities were and what struck you about the direction she was headed. I was impressed by optimism. You know in my talks with her. I told her. Look this to some degree a thankless job like. Why do you want this? Port now didn't go well for him at the end and just became sort of an emblem of disatisfaction for a Lotta people and she said look why. Why should this be a thankless job? You're getting to represent news makers and creative artists. This should be a great job and so that that struck me that even among it all she found this to be something that was an opportunity she also talked about. She used the phrase Noble Paradox And she talked about how the Grammy's should both celebrate innovation at the same time that they preserve tradition. And that's you know obviously that's a tricky job because the grammies have for years been looked at as sort of the Museum of old music in recent years. They've really tried to bring things up to speed. But but you know within the More than twenty thousand people in the academy. You've got a lot of different constituencies you've got the younger new artists who want the grammys to be. He cutting edge. Then you've got all the old folks who've been around forever and probably liked how things were going. You gotta you gotta please vote those masters. We're talking with Michael. Michael Wood the pop music critic at the La Times about the removal of Grammy's CEO. Deborah Dugan Recording Academy's Board of Trustees announced Thursday. That Dugan is is on immediate administrative. Leave what do we know about the allegations and investigation. Very little I've talked to some people since that who I can't imagine what this is referring to allegations misconduct. These are obviously super ominous words. I've I've also talked to people who said that. Maybe this was a pusher out before she can push them out type situation. Somebody said that that she had been asking questions about why there's so much infrastructure at the recording academy. So you know now you can read the meaning between the lines there. The board statement said the allegation was brought by. I'm quoting now. A senior female member of the Recording Academy team and it seemed odd to include the gender of the complain. It but dougans attorneys said her removal was something different calling it a he cou. What is her lawyer saying about possible? Motivation for her ouster is Issued a statement. That was pretty pretty juicy says that that there will be much more to come in terms of Exposing the real reasons lie Dugan was ousted and he also referred to port now step step up comment and he suggested that she was ousted. Because this is what happens when someone tries to step up and sort of implied change the culture at a An old fashioned institution her lawyer. Also referenced voting irregularities. What have been some of the complaints about how? The grammys are decided. The way I understand banded and different people have different views on this. The grammies have what's called a nominations review committee also known as a secret committee because nobody knows who's on it and that extends to people who I am shocked don't know who's on it and my understanding is that they sort of massage the nominations for the big big categories. They kind of steer once those nominations out in the public my understanding is that the voting itself is clean. That's not really disputed but that the nominations who ends up being nominated for album of the year record of the year. Now what are they doing. It depends on who you ask. Some people think that they're they're trying to put up a field of nominees. That kind of looks good. Somebody used the phrase woke. They want to present present at the sort of image of Whoa kness in WHO's nominated Other people have told me that you know it's classic. Vote for my guy. I'll vote for your guy just classic classic backroom favor trading.

Dell Computers: Michael Dell

"Long before for anyone heard of the tech underpins like Mark Zuckerberg. Evan Spiegel ORC. Trina Lake back before it was fashionable to drop out of college to pursue your startup even before people used the term startup back in the ancient days of the one thousand nine hundred eighty s the dorm room miracle story. You've heard of was Michael Dell's now today. The company is enormous beyond enormous worth billions of dollars Dell has sold more than six hundred fifty million computers since Michael founded in one thousand nine hundred eighty four. And what's amazing about. This isn't the money it's not even the idea. What's amazing easing about all this? Well Michael Dell. Because he's not a backslapping sales guy. He doesn't come across as particularly charismatic. He's actually on the quiet side. Maybe even a little shy Michael grew up in Houston in the nineteen seventies was just as digital technology was taking off in that city with companies like Texas instruments and then later Compaq. His Dad was a doctor. His mom was financial consultant and the expectation was that Michael. Michael would become a doctor like his dad. But even from a young age Michael Dell felt pulled in a different direction he was into numbers. I mean I remember when I was small child. My Dad had this adding machine victor adding machines before the electronic calculator and I was was just fascinated that you could add up numbers with this machine and really big numbers and and it would make this like mesmerizing sound every time it did it and I just kind of love that and then I remember when I was about Seven or eight years old. I bought a calculator. I it was the first semiconductor based calculators and I was fascinated that this small machine could do complicated math problems so yeah I got I got very interested in this stuff it also turned out that about equidistant between my junior high school and our and our house there was a radio shack store and so when I was riding my bike home I could stop by the radio shack next door and see the you know early forms of the of the personal computer and hang out there until the kick me out of the store and were you you know like kind of entrepreneurial as a kid yeah I kind of liked business And I had all kinds of businesses is selling baseball cards Had A stamp auction. I got a job at a gold coin and jewelry store and I was to negotiate with people that were selling things and by those things the lowest possible price because the owner gave me Nia percentage of the cut and whether you also worked for the local paper for for some time. Yeah so I got this job. Working for the Houston is in Post newspaper. It doesn't exist anymore now. They think they combined with the Houston Chronicle. And my job along with hundreds of other mostly mostly you know. Teenagers was to call random people on the phone and try to sell them a subscription to the Houston Post newspaper and I observed three things the first thing I observed. Is that if you sounded like the people you were talking to. They were much more more likely to buy the newspaper from you like you. You put on a text like a heavy Texas accent. Yeah I'm not GonNa do it for you here but I think you can. You can use your imagination nation. Okay so second thing I heard was that people that were getting married. Were much more likely to buy the newspaper and then the third thing I observed is that people that were moving into a new house or residents were also far more likely to buy the newspaper. Well how did you Who was getting married and was moving in? Well you talk to them. You strike up a conversation you just call people and say and ask them about themselves. I guess this is like at that a time or perfectly happy to tell strangers personal details right. Yeah so I. I observed this and what I figured out is that in Texas. This is when you as many states when you want to get a marriage license you have to go to the county courthouse. It turns out this public information right and among the information that you give to the county court is the address you want the licensed sent to so so with this information. I devised a direct mail program where I sent letters to all of the people that had applied for marriage licenses in Sixteen County area surrounding Harris County. Which is where Houston Texas is is and I hired a bunch of my high school pals to go out to all these county courthouses and type the names in two small apple two computers and I sent a massive direct mail campaign to all those people that were applying to get marriage licenses and there were also at that time in Houston? There was a building boom. There were these very large apartment and condominium complexes that were going up and so I would go to these buildings under construction and sort of figure out who was in charge and say A. Hey I'm from the Houston Post newspaper and you know we've got this great offer where your new residence get the paper free for two weeks and all of these do is fill out the form. You're a high school student when you're doing this. Yes how much money did you walk away with. But I think it was about seventeen years old. I made a little over eighteen thousand dollars that year. This is like freakishly precocious of a of a high school senior. Like that's it's just weird that you would even no to think of doing those things I mean. Don't don't you think I didn't really think about it like that. I just it just seemed like a good idea so I was pursuing. You was working. I pull you things that didn't work but but that worked so I I kept doing eighteen thousand dollars. What did you do with that money? I mean that that must have been more money than you've ever seen in your life. I bought a BMW. So I wanted I wanted to. BMW Am. W what did the other students think of you. What did you have this reputation as like a business whiz kid in high school or or like? What did they anything about you? You know. I don't really know and I and I didn't really care So I I was sort of keeping myself and I had a few friends is but I I wasn't the most social of kids but you must have been somewhat social because you were going out and selling stuff to strangers rangers. Sure social enough to make the sale. Yeah so you are on the one hand doing this entrepreneurial stuff and then I guess you were also just really into computers. Yeah the original computer that I you know got my hands on at home was the same one everybody else had. which was the apple to apple to? Yeah Yeah and one of the beautiful things about the apple two was that all of the circuits were discrete circuits that you could understand so you could go in and start to play with those and modify them and reprogram the BIOS and upgrade the system and take it apart put it back together so something happened here around Nineteen Eighty one IBM introduced the IBM PC. And that was sort of a very important moment. Because if you dial back the clock to the late seventies early eighties in this company. IBM had a leadership of the part of the economy referred for to US Information Technology. Unlike any other company at any other time in history they were by far the dominant company so in Ibm mm-hmm introduced the IBM PC. This to me seemed to be a very important moment so I try to understand everything was going on about that and so when you took apart this. IBM PC that was selling for about three thousand dollars. As far as I could tell it was about six hundred dollars. It's worth parts. Wait you bought one and you took it apart just to check the insides out sure. Yeah Yeah what else would you do. So you gotta you gotTa take it apart. How how can you understand it if you don't take it apart philly? Most people buy computers to like you know at that time. He has to do basic you know accounting owning and word processing. You bought it to take part. Well I wanted to understand did and you know to understand it. You have to take it

I remember telling them of the enemy just ahead. Whereas Michael I asked I saw them look at one another. Where's who? Michael Michael, let big marina was walking. With just before the snow squall hit us kids said the sergeant you weren't walking with anyone. I had my eyes on you the whole time you were getting too far out. I was just going to call you in when you disappeared in the snow. He looked at me. Curiously how'd you do it kid? How I do what I asked having were despite my wound big marine named Michael. And I were just sunset the sergeant kindly. I picked this out. Good myself. And they're just another Michael in it. You're the only Mike. Pause for a moment. Just how'd you do it kid? We heard shots. There hasn't been a shot fired from your rifle. And there isn't a bit of lead in them seven bobby's over the hill there. I didn't say anything. What can I say? I could only look open mouth with amazement. It was in the sergeant spoke again. Kid. He said gently. Every one of those seven bodies over the hill. There was killed. Buy a sword stroke. "Our guest is a man with experience in four presidential campaigns Republican political analyst, Michael Caputo, and we have a call from dawn and callous spell Montana, as we discussed the charges that are delaying the confirmation process for Brad Kavanagh to be on the supreme court. Good evening. Dawn. Thank you for taking my call. Sure. And. Like a statute of limitations? I mean, thirty seven years is a long time in a court of law. Yes. This is not a court of law. Well, yeah. But still. Put it this way in a court of law. There is such a thing as a statute of limitations, technically speaking in in a hearing before the US congress. We could be talking about something that Brad Kavanagh is alleged to have done in preschool. There. No, there's no statute of limitations in congressional hearings. Well, they should because that's an awful long time. Besmirching somebody. Stay well, it should read it thirty seven years ago, right or or five years ago when he was he was being investigated for the US appeals court when he was being investigated for the the the White House position. Let's not for it. Excuse me. Let's not let's not forget Michael Caputo that. Brad Kavanagh has been investigated by the FBI six times now four for his White House positions. And then once for the appellate court of now the six time for the supreme court. These are very thorough vetting 's and nothing ever came up. Of course, not because they you know, this is a smear. That's what this is. And and I want you to note that Brian Fallon who was Hillary Clinton spokesman during the campaign who was one of the chief purveyors of the, you know, the beginnings of this bogus Russia collusion narrative of the first people talking about it in the press and trying to sell it to the media in June and July of twenty sixteen. He's now working with the judicial network on the left, and he's one of the chief purveyors of this. It's a smear being put together by tiny little smear merchants were out there. Just to ruin a man's. Reputation. It's it's interesting you remember those false accusations against those Sacred Heart football players the Duke lacrosse players and the default accusations made against those university of Virginia students that cost the Rolling Stone, a huge amount of money, all the cases, those lying accusers were ruined lives. And that when people like Brian Fallon and Dianne Feinstein and Christine board, and Deborah can't all be players in this mere bachelor. They're trying to do and I'll tell you. They don't care. They wanna ruin lives. They do not care. They have no compunction, no guilt. And when it's all over they walk away with smiles on their faces. Now, listen, Christine Ford may end up in trouble after this. And you say you say she may wind up in trouble. Why? She's going to be sitting down in front of the sentence Senate. There may be a statute of limitations on that. But she's going to be under oath. When she talks to the Senate, drew. She will be under oath. That's true. Whatever you you take an oath like that that is simply a way of saying, I hereby leave myself wide open. If I am shown to be lying. I can get in the Hebrew trouble. So yes, so she lies under oath without question that that is certainly true to Josh in Wichita joining us tonight on the Bohannon show. Good evening. Josh, what's on your mind tonight? Good evening. Michael, Michael Caputo? As the the prayed this grant that seem. Partying. The cabinet hearings in a great display. Starting with the Oakland guilting that. Continue on to to what. Bare naked display. It turns out speak. Just a a fantastic advertisement away. Wait, any Republican pickup is as the basically the the ads for upcoming election. That's an interesting thought of Michael do you feel that? In fact, the bread Kavanagh hearings have amounted to an infomercial for voting for Republicans November six. I do I do believe that I wanna see when I saw each one of those people standing up and screaming and the hearing, and and watching each one of these members of the judiciary committee on the democratic side embarrassed themselves, it I hope that average voters in those important congressional districts are are understand. But if they don't vote Republican if they don't get out even though Donald Trump is not on the ballot. If they don't get out and vote for the Republican more of these crazy people are going to have the run of Washington. And another thing that's important to understand our Republican senators on the judiciary committee in general United States Senate need to show some backbone here and move this nomination process and confirmation process forward because if they let a good man like judge cavenaugh BT rail by this kind of naked display. Way going to stop. This is just the beginning. Every single Republican activity will end up with a sexual molestation accusation of some sort. It's never gonna stop. If we don't stop it here. One eight six six five O, JIMBO one eight six six five zero five four six two six. Bryant isn't Ozark Missouri to join us tonight. Hello, brian. Just got one question. Sure. It's a simple one. As we head when he was going through his long nation. We heard Oli outposts. And I never understood why would not feel the gal that was the number one item on my mind throughout the entire process. And Michael I've heard it said that Grassley. Very cannily realize that the the fraudulent nature of people who who's only argument is to shout. Something down that he wanted the country to see it. Maybe my thought was still the same as Brians. And that is that he should have cleared the the room. You know, you give give them a chance. Okay. They haven't outburst. You give them a warning. Second outburst. The room is cleared. That's true. You know, the chairman of the committees, especially these committees that that are packed full of it. Oh pink hat, wearing leftist activists, they have to run a kind of a balancing act, and the judiciary committee and the confirmation process, especially because Senator Grassley chairman Grassley has to you know, he's thinking to himself if I clear this room, then they're going to be screaming about being a becoming a secret process. If I don't let their voices be heard. They're gonna be called a bully in this process is is is corrupted. So he got about you gotta let a little of this go on and at some point in time bring down that gavel. I was happy to see the freak show that that that the parade of through their each day of those hearings. I talked to my friends I come from. I come from western New York. I got family in Ohio in the countryside and people in fly over country, Baidu not like this kind of activity. And the more. They saw it the more. They knew that they didn't want to see anymore democrat control of the house or the Senate. So I kind of appreciate what chairman grant Allie was doing. I would hope that that is. "On into the weeds and at the end of the day i keep saying that this is well outside the mandate and you're proving my point you know when the president you know this is the most conflicted and corrupt group of people we've ever seen and that means muller that means komi that means mr trump's a crime boss is i told them i said don't be like greater be more like michael michael's our guy don jr i never wanted this for you so when you know that's just the truth anybody that is watching you have a right to be disgusted at what's going on here it's not a crime to engage in contact to make somebody go away or to have a contract with stormy daniels i i will tell you that this is now going to go on for years because i would never recommend the president go anywhere near muller and weisman and his merry band of obama hillary donors people that have been excoriated by judges for withholding exculpatory evidence people that have multiple times put innocent people in jail people that have been overturned nine zero in the supreme court people that have been held in judgments of over one hundred million dollars because of their behavior people that lost tens of thousands of jobs because of their there's zealous overreach and pass cases that's the team that they put together that's the muller team and they're doing the same thing that they've always done patterns of behavior repeat.
