"Them. I know seven drops last year. But in your minds he had seventy seven. Because that's what the fans think about. Eric brown eric. Hebron david in the vertex. Dave and jeffrey brought up the fact that he was blocking so much better this year. I think he's going to be very important to this team. You're going to need some some stuff over the middle. They have great corners. Especially in tra- davis white white is awesome. They had that pick six. It was lawyer who had the pick six last year. That turned this game around so really exploit the middle. And who better to do it with than eric brown. Dave is anyone else on offense. I was just going to throw in a little bit more. Eric hebron because that would have been my choice as well but with that that vertex article that jeffrey and i did that pointed out that he was good blocker that that article actually impressed a lot of people including eric. Hebron yes enjoyed that one by the way so Yeah i that was a really good good one bad. Because people don't remember most of his drops were late in the season last year. So if he can come out holding onto the ball early in the season improved in the blocking game when you know getting involved with the run when he's lining up is that h back role and showing that he can he can get in there and mix it up. Let's let's get a gun because honestly the other the other. What is the did you call us. X. factor. How did you define jeff. Now this is just players. Watch the watch if you just take out offensive people to watch and take out the word player. Then it's matt canada. If you know what i mean and when it comes to the play calling i'm re is that cheating figure that because i was gonna say my canada's well yeah and i was going to plug the article slash podcast. Give chase klay pool when he was talking about the difference between mad camp. Good job ryan by the way if you haven't checked great interview go ahead. Dave continue. Oh what i was gonna say with matt. Canada is if you really wanna know what he's going to bring look at the first drive even maybe into the second drive the penner how the first one goes look at those scripted plays those scripted plays for the steelers for years when i say years meeting. The rain. Delay in years have been terrible. The steelers have been awful with their offense script to open a game. I want to see them with a much. Different much. better improved offensive script to start. I think we're going to know right away in this game What kind of impact candidate can have on it. I agree and i was gonna say matt canada..

"Nation as well as justice. Mosquito of packing. Co. this has nothing to do with what we're talking about. We did talk about sean payton a little bit but when just said that my mind was like why. Don't we talk about peyton the way we talk about shanahan mcveigh because as efficient as their offenses are and i'm not going to take that away from me. Any of them because they do move the ball but they run like six. Plays each where sean payton you just talk about going three by three. That doesn't happen in a mcveigh. Or shanahan offense. Those type of motions like they just use like jet motions to Leverage defense and high. Low the defense where sean payton is. He dresses it up so much better than that. And i imagine if you were to go around the nfl and ask these guys. Who are you watching more. Is it cost shanahan or is it sean. Payton is it. Sean mcveigh or is it sean. Payton i think the overwhelming answer would be paying. So why is there a disconnect from us compared to what's going on the actual nfl. Yeah definitely. I think that if you're guys who they still place from every monday It's probably payton. In andy reid not even close right. Yeah yeah it's probably those two because the way that that structure i mean. It's not really different than like the high schools that like the highschool wing. Tea stuff. The kyle shanahan and sean mcvay matt leflore style. I mean it's basic but trap right is bug trap and a wagle is just in a different structure. It's how how do we have our inside run. How do we have our outside run. How do we throw off of it. And how do we make it all the same right. I mean that that's really what it is at the end of the day. I mean sean. Payton and any reader the guys who they're trying to do very unique things to attack you basically on down the dow basis so i. I would not be surprised at all if you ask any. Nfl guy and they they said it was peyton read. I have a hot day. I think i know the next guy up on that. Actually there's still joe. Brady does a lot of cool stuff The way he's able to get that done Unfortunately he does have a quarterback and that drives a lot of these conversations to matt. Canada with the pittsburgh steelers. The way matt. Canada plays football. It will look unique to the fan. You will see things that you've never seen before. Nfl game just because they're double shifting pre snap. It's insane like he'll send one guy emotion the defense just and then they'll send another guy in motion like legitimately flip it from trips to field trips to the boundary in a matter of two seconds and your safeties have to spend twenty five yards. It's not it's not fun to deal with He's going to deal with some restrictions at the nfl level that he didn't deal with on at the college level just because of eligible ineligible numbers in how you report eligible. But it's fun to watch so far. And i'm really excited to see what he brings to the table this year. Because he's definitely all the film nerds on twitter. Who like wow look at this crazy play. Like they're gonna love matt canada. Yeah you gotta keep an eye out for matt canada. I was legitimately shocked. Joe brady didn't get a head. Coaching job this off season. I thought he was going to be a little bit more demand than he wound up being. But i'm also still shocked eric. Enemy hasn't gotten a head coaching job. So maybe i'm just bad. "He's obviously done so unless he just wants to keep collecting a paycheck as backup somewhere over next year. Four years going from team to team two team is a perennial backup. He should just just retirees. Made a decent amount of money you know. What else does he have the proof because he he can't be a starter anymore Running backs on just regain their legs after three or four years they. It's usually when once they fall off the cliff. They continue to fall so best living on. I think he has i. I actually think he has the potential back to be a a wise person when he gets older. I think he might be one of those people. Lot of people think he's just going to. He's going to go on and be a tragic tale like a lot of people. Were assuming antonio brown's gonna wind up in that situation but i think bell. I think he has a a decent head on his shoulders. He's he's twenty nine now so he's not a kid anymore but know there's still some room for maturity and i think he can he can. He was very popular here with the his teammates into media. And when you when you hear the media saying good things about somebody they're not afraid to come out and defend a former player that tells me that maybe he's not a he's not such a bad guy because the media wants wants. A player leaves town. They're they're not shy about telling how they feel about somebody. In a lot of cases. They're not shy about doing that. When the guy stole here as found with barry bonds years ago and even antonio brown near the end of his career so again best select. I love bell you know. Thanks for the memories but hang up. "What we expect from Matt Canada because there's a lot of quotes coming out of Ben. You know, pushing back in a new offense, but not, you know, he's like, no, I'm all in. I'm going to do what I got to do. But people wondering if that will be the case, considering that it kind of seemed like he was unwilling to do a few different things last year. What doesn't Mat Canada offense look like and how will that impact Ben Roethlisberger? Was a lot of misdirection. As we saw here at Pitt. There's a lot of pre snap motion. There's a lot of fall faking ball handling by the quarterback sometimes little pop passes when some guy comes in motion underneath the quarterback in the shotgun. Lot of put it in the belly and take it back. Um, you know, there's what Ben has gotten accustomed to. Ben hates being under center. He doesn't like play action. He likes to take the snap. Survey the field use his height used, his eyes looked over. His linemen see what's down field. Uses brain which is, you know, no completely wired after whatever is 17 years in the NFL, uh, to see what he's looking at downfield and he computes it and I thought that's what he did fantastic for the first eight weeks of last season. Then people start to figure it out. Um, the reason that I'm dubious of Canada's offenses, not because I don't think it will work in the pros. I just don't know if Roethlisberger is going to have faith in I mean, it's sprinkled some of that stuff in Last year in the first four or five weeks. And it works to mixed results, but not horrible. Especially the red Zone. I thought they did some things with it that worked. And they used the wide receiver skills. You know, guys like Juju and Dion, Johnson and Claypool are good when they get the ball in the backfield and can run when the blocking is their form that you get to the edge. On little misdirection, plays and sneaky little reverses things like that. But Ben's got to subscribe to that and not check out of it, And I'm really worried about that. Coming into sync, especially the first two or three games go bumpy. Juju Smith Schuster People thought he was going to leave might have had some other offers. He winds up coming back to Pittsburgh. What's the future? Hold for him there? And, you know, is he a true legit number One receiver for this team or has has Deonte Johnson, for example, may be taking over that spot. I don't think he's a true number one anywhere. I think he's a good number two in a lot of places Number two, and Antonio Brown was the good number one here, but Yeah. You know, there was some people say that you haven't given Ju do a true shot in that regard, because Rudolph and duck with the quarterbacks for his first time after a B left, and then last year you had the Rinky dink offense that they were running, trying to get rid of the ball fast because the line couldn't hold up to protect office Burger and he can't escape. Well, those last two variables. I don't think I'm going to change this year and he keeps talking about and he reinforced it Today is the second maybe third time now. At third time. We've heard him mention this that he wants to play outside. More. He's going to play outside more. I wonder if that's news to Deontay and Chase Claypool. Because one of those guys then it's not going to be able to play outside as much as they should be, especially if you get at first down. Running back. We're supposed to be a three down guy and you're talking about playing with two tight ends more with Eric Ebron and Pat Friar moat, the new rookie on the field. I mean, I know. The Steelers offense struggled last year, but the NFL didn't say you could play with 14 guys. You know, like somebody's gonna lose a lot of snaps and somebody somebody could be displaced than if juju goes outside. Yeah, I remember seeing that quote as well. And of course you know the bills play them. Like I said Week one. I'm thinking, OK, we see true Navias white. You dismiss Schuster? And then I thought about it and said he's not the kind of guy you alter game plans for right? Yeah, He's a good number two. Not the kind of guy necessarily have to even shadow a guy like previous weight around the field with him unless he's winds up hurting you, Um Well, they do you think when they go into the season? Will it take a little time for all of this to mesh together? Because last year they started off great and then they had the the the the bottoming out towards the end of the year. They lost the games. As you said they were playing very well. Maybe a reversal this year because of the new offense and guys getting familiar, Or do you think that this will be a struggle? You know all of the year or even will they be on top of everything, and, you know, maybe surprising people because of it. Well, Yeah, there's a lot to unpack there, and we're trying to do it in Pittsburgh the same way because they've been dreadful from After Thanksgiving on each of the last three years, you know they they had to collapse. From the start of December on a season ago. Um they lost their last three to miss the playoffs. Remember for as ugly as that team looked When Buffalo came to Pittsburgh, the Steelers are eight and five at that point. And you know they're in good playoff shape and the bills beat them, and they lost their last two games as well. They missed out and they were 72 and won the year before in 2019 before Ben got hurt, and they still miss the playoffs. So they're going to collapse every year. They better be good fast to build a buffer in his 17 season and it better and better. I think it actually needs to start a little bit more quickly, because where they've been really good. Is actually from like, week four to about week. 12 a week 11. That's usually when they've been really good. The last three years. Um, you know, they usually emerge like two and 23 and one something like that from the first Month of the season. But they're going to have to get it going early. They're gonna have to maintain a hot streak if they do have the attrition that they've had late in the season. Not like you said. Maybe it reverses. Maybe they figure out the operation maybe Canada and then figure each other out. But then at that point, you know this team doesn't have the depth that it used to. So if you have a couple injuries, then you're not playing with a full deck cards that you've got all these plans around it, and that's that's concerned. So I I read Brian Burke's comments about the Penguins will shift to hockey real quick here and You know, Fans are upset. You know about the exit in the playoffs because they have an advance the last few years, and he says, Hey, we want a division for crying out loud. Even he admits that maybe before he took the job that He didn't think maybe that they could keep all three of their stars together. But now he believes that is true. But they are aging Tim, and they haven't had a lot of success the last few years, and I say this fully knowing that they've had plenty of success with that group there. But what does the immediate and long term future holding how this plays out for these guys? Probably not much if you believe what he said. I mean, he's throwing his weight behind the Court three is throwing his weight behind Mike Sullivan. He's thrown his weight behind trust and Jari even who was dreadful in the playoffs, and it doesn't have the track record. To subscribe to like maybe art Marc Andre Fleury did when he had a bad run for a playoff. Or to, um, there's no reason to think Right now, The Tristan jury is going to be a good playoff goal. He's good regular season goalie, but you know Have now married myself to the concept of The playoffs are completely different from the regular season. There's no team that marks that better than the Penguins. They're good in the regular season..

"All right pittsburgh you advance welcome back to the second segment your we are back for. Let's ride friday goodness. It feels good that it's friday. I know for me. It's a three day weekend. Coming up knows no work on monday. I will still be back though for those of you. Did you have to hit the ground running on monday. No matter what presidents day or not but hey let's get the second part started right the other day and this another article. I write a lot of articles for behind the steel curtain dot com. I mean i was honestly a writer and editor first before we started this podcast platform. So when you hear me reference my articles is because i write a lot of them. But i do wanna talk about the other day. I was looking at pro football focus. They released their top one hundred and fifty free agency. That's way too many by the way. But they released one hundred and fifty of their top free agents and so i was curious. The steelers have a ton of free agency here. What are their predictions for these players. Because not only did they rank them like espn. Espn just said. Oh here's our top fifty free agents and so we wrote an article about the steelers have x. y. and z. Players that are ranked one two and three blah blah blah blah blah on espn. But when i was looking at this article v pro football focus and you can say what you they do more analytics than anyone else. They do way more analytics than anywhere else. So what. I was looking at this article. I'm like oh my gosh boy. Did they miss the boat here. Yeah it was their top one hundred and fifty free agents but they missed the bill on the fact that they were predicting where these players were going to end up. So there's a steeler fan. I'm like okay who's ranked where they ranked. What's your prediction for where they're gonna go. This was very interesting to me. So i was like you know what i wanna talk about this more. I didn't feel like the written word was the place to do it. So here we are. I have the opportunity with the microphone in front of my face hearing this. Let's ride podcast. Let's talk about where these players were ranked and then let's also talk about where the pf experts if you wanna call them. That are actually saying they're going to go okay so here from top to bottom give ranking and tell you what they say about their contract analysis and then the prediction so the top rank steeler free agent. According to pro football focus was none. Other than juju smith schuster. He came in at number twenty three. So the contract analysis for juju was quote even before the two thousand twenty season began. Pundits predicted that smith schuster will be playing his final season in pittsburgh with the emergence of diontae johnson and chase claypool. That's now even more of a safe bet. Here's their prediction. Juju smith schuster signs with the jets. The new york jets for four years. Sixty eight million seventeen million annual pay thirty five million total guaranteed and twenty two fully guaranteed signing twenty two million so for me. I'm looking at this and saying. Can i see it or not. You agree or disagree. I could agree with this one. I if the if the jets are going to stick with darnold if they're not going to pull the trigger on a quarterback in this draft it would make sense to bring back one of darnold's old college buddies that's juju smith schuster and reunite them. They have the cat the cavs space. They have the money. You've got to think that smith schuster with a brand. He is all about his brand. What better place to be the new york city so he would be headed to the big apple. I could see that happening. I really could the next free. Agent that hits is twenty-sixth. that's nothing. Cornerback mike hilton. Here's what they say about hilton's contract hilton's scrapped. His way into significant playing time with the steelers after starting his career by bouncing around practice squads. he's become a quality cover corner in the law. But the ability to affect the passer on the occasional pass rush snap as evidenced by the predictions for all slav cornerbacks. The market didn't materialize in twenty twenty. And it's hard to imagine it will and twenty twenty one. What's his prediction. Odd steelers sign hilton. So he stays in pittsburgh for three years. Twelve million total. That's four million a year. Four million dollars total guaranteed fully at signing and the signing bonus. Steelers don't guarantee otherwise so pretty interesting stuff. There could this. Could this dealer sign him for four years. Twelve eight if they could. I think that's a steal of a deal. You sign that and you get a sign that real quick do that real quick freezing guess yourself. That's what i here. Your mike sign evro quick and then we'll process that paperwork. That's exactly what the steelers should be doing. If they can get held for three years. Twelve lane that would be very very you know because you know how the steelers work contracts you know that that twelve million is going to be really frontloaded too so keep that in mind. Next is thirty third on the list. It's tackle alejandro villanueva. Here's a day. say about his contract. We wanna away has had a remarkable nfl career after serving in the us military going undrafted and then working his way to become one of the league's best left tackles nevertheless the steelers will have a very rough time retaining villain away after pushing all their chips in on twenty twenty. We wouldn't be surprised. If villanova juju smith schuster in bud dupree are all playing elsewhere. Twenty twenty one purely for salary cap reasons. So what's your prediction. Villain wave is headed to l. a. With the chargers charter signed villanueva for three years. Forty five million. Thirty million total guaranteed twenty million fully guaranteed signing. I gotta be honest with you. I could see him signing with l. a. but that contract is wow that is nuts. That's crazy big for someone that i feels at the end of his career. The fact that they have villanueva getting that much money. That seems a little steep for me but you know what left tackle some say. It's the most important position on the offensive line. So there you have that next up fifty fifth this guy. Fill all the way to fifty fifth. That's bud debris obviously coming off that injury. That's probably why he felt so much. Let's look at his contract analysis. Pittsburgh shows to let bud dupree walking. Free agency the minute. They extended defensive. Lineman cameron heyward prior to the twenty twenty season soon enough. Tj watt could be looking for his first thirty million a year contract for a defensive player in nfl history. In the odds are he'll be worth it unfortunately for debris tear week twelve may limit his options to one year proven deals. And that's exactly what they're predicting that he gets from the steelers. No from the colts. The prediction is that the colts signed a pre for a one year. Ten million dollar deal seven and a half million totally guaranteed fully guaranteed at signing. If the steelers are seeing this. I got a feeling that if debris is gonna play for one year he's just wants to play for one year. Hey i want to prove a deal. My gosh the steelers would have to come close to getting that ten million somehow someway and saying we can match. It will mash it here bud. Maybe they'll throw in some. They don't like to do this. They don't like to put in these bonuses. Where if you get so many sacks maybe they could do that. But what. I see reading this that. He goes to the colts for one year for ten million. I could see it happening. But i'd be. I would be hard pressed not to think that the steelers couldn't find a way to make this happen if they're just trying to get one more year because debris we know he can succeed in the system he knows the system just throwing that out there. Nut next is number. Eighty one running back. James conner contract analysis for jimmy. See them the steelers preview. James connors production has stalled after an impressive start to steelers career with the lack of dominance also coincides with the teams run blocking getting worse. Conner has solid. Pf grades all four seasons of his career the prediction he sticking with a two thousand seventeen draft classmate and he's headed to new york. The jets signed connor for three years. Twenty million at six point six six million a year ten million total guaranteed eight million fully..

diontae johnson Twenty million Twelve million villanueva twenty million Ten million eight million Thirty million Forty five million three years hilton ten million juju smith schuster alejandro villanueva Sixty eight million new york monday twenty two million four years juju

"Old or promoting the quarterbacks coach Matt Canada. Offensive coordinator. Now I know Matt Canada. Because he was the University of Pittsburgh's offensive coordinator for a year And then he got hired by L s u where he flopped. He's Ah, tough s O B. He's a strict disciplinarian. He's an attention to details guy. We'll get up in a player's face if he has to. Think that doesn't want that. You watch and follow Stiller's at all America. You know that better office Burger and Todd Haley. Had issues. That Canada's coaching style is a lot like Todd Haley's Now. Now at 39 years old Ben's gonna have the Grin and Barrett and suck it up and deal with that. Gonna get ugly. If the Steelers are hiring these people or getting rid of guys that try to usher Ben out. He's not gonna make it that easy on him. I don't think he'll retire on his own. I think you'll force the organization to release him or cut him and the Steelers don't want to do that. They don't want the p The P R nightmare. Even though it's time They don't want to be the ones they don't want to look like the bad guy. They don't wanna look like the bad cop here. So that's why I'm in Pittsburgh, and I'm talking to a lot of people, and it's complicated. It's a complicated situation right now. I mean, I don't think it should be. I think these are Professor. This is professional sports. These are professional athletes. I don't think there's a lot of room for sentimentality and feelings. These are humans that have long term relationships and they've won Super bowls together. So that's what makes it hard. Um, I don't work for the Steelers. So it's easy for me to tell you straight up. This is what they should do. I think they got a hard time. They might know that's true. Then I think that's true. The bends done, but I don't Don't have a lot of confidence in them executing that and telling the big guy to walk away. And if you don't walk away on your own terms will kill you. Rams have their 1st 1st down of the game. Halfway through the first quarter at Lambeau. It's Packers three RAM stuff in Green Bay's drive stalled in the red Zone. They came away with only a field goal had first and goal to five settled for three. Rams had their 1st 1st down on this drive and now golf best play to this point. About a 15 yard throw over the middle catch and run. Into Packers territory, So they got the ball, not the Green Bay 42. First down away from field goal range. I've got it. Hey! If golf and he I think he's thinks Well, you know, it's not like he hasn't had big games before. If he steps it up here, then. If I'm wrong about golf and his performance in this game. Rams can win. I don't look.

"Bannered or a core really workout at tackle and Matt filers playing and then you see like Kevin Dotson from this year he shows up and he's all of a sudden doing gun. You can see decastro going that's a that's a potential or if Matt filer is going to get a bigger deal than Decastro, we could see him gone and and we could see you're you're GonNa see shakeup I think the steelers usually do that by. Who Are we? Who can we replace with someone on the roster who cheaper and and who is like bud do pre getting getting on franchise tag because there's no one behind him they had the tag that there's no one there. Right, you know I think I think kind of this draft class cash I feel Kinda unveiled the cards what the steelers future plans are obviously chased Klay Pool that could lead to Juju moving off the Ross Alex Smith replacing bud pre. There are some guys that are extremely important in this team that I think could get resigned like Cam, Hayward, I did have a moment in the middle of the nights when I woke up and I was like, what if what if Cam Hayward because this is what I think of in the middle night apparently in sleep What happens if a cam here word they CA- can't get it together. Jj Watt I know this sounds ridiculous but obviously a little bit older. Him His brothers are pretty insane. You think you think that can happen and I believe that'd be twenty twenty two off-season could there be a reunion of brothers sorts completely off topic, but it's been bugging me so I pose a question to you. If everyone wanted if. Jj value on the market is deflated. Like, if if people really like mad, we really WanNa do we really WANNA sign jj watt he's not getting big deal. He's not looking at you know I can I can make another big deal and like now six grandchild will be set for life you know whatever of With. It's not that situation the steelers to jump in. With. A lower bid than than other teams might be giving. For a chance to play with TJ. And that That could happen. But for me thinking that for that to happen JJ watt would have to drop. He's going to have to be looking at no one wants to pay him a bunch of money you know and his cabinet I believe is only fifteen million dollars this year. So yeah, I, I suppose but Yeah. That's that's just one of the things to Nag me when I'm doing absolutely nothing. So I'm glad I got that out in the air and now that the public knows that I'm absolutely insane I'm sure I'm sure ratings will spike through but I'm thinking here maybe it's time to transition to part two of our of our new kind of system here. If you're listening on a podcast on any, where that you get your podcast from, of course, BTC is on anywhere from spotify to apple music to. You name it. I. Believing Pandora were on it so If you're listening on our podcast platform right now, we're GONNA move over to part two and chat a little bit of Matt Canada. So maitree download that episode as well and continue with our great chat here with Jeffrey Benedict and myself you're on youtube but don't go anywhere around. "Look. For teams that had a lot of success. If we go back to to a team, we don't like to talk about the two thousand, ten Green Bay packers who won the Super Bowl because their fourth wide receiver was Jordy Nelson. But he was their number four wide receiver and. We get into a situation where that depths is what's really valuable on this team is the fact that we can go to tight ends and have to pass receivers out there. We can go four wide receivers and have four really good dangerous wide receivers out there. We can go through three running backs you know if we get to that place. I think that's a great setup for band and also for randy features offense. Because it's it works differently than Thanh Haley's and I think it works better with more depth than it does with having stars at the top. Right now. When you look at this offense obviously, there's a ton of young depth that receiver position but there's a little bit of a draw off who like if there's some injury issues there might there might be a problem here wide receiver. Obviously. We talk about the core for at the top of the depth chart a lot whose number five to you, who whose number five and whose number six th that's. That's really what I'm curious about it. This receiver spot, but that's GonNa be that's GonNa. Be a big big deal is actually who can take those spots I mean not. Not the biggest deals, but that's going to be a good camera battle to see I think. We could see Dionne Kane but I also think. We're going to have to look and see who makes. Who makes it for special teams because that's still a big they've always a wide receiver be one of those. Is Chased we'll take in that job i. that's he has the potential to do it but. It's one thing to have the potential to do it, and it's another thing to actually get on the field and be trusted by the coaches to do that when they're also trying to speed you into being a wide receiver. I liked I always I mean, I grew up in Michigan my Michigan Wolverines Fan I love or Darbeau. I love his his his spirit. I. Love His story. I would love to see him. Take a step actually make that he's a great special teams player, but he's he's never been able to do anything on the offense So there's those questions there who could who could emerge who could do that? I really what I what I don't see. Is. Ryan Switzer. That's I don't see that it's interesting. You say that because he obviously the other day he posted that picture myself absolutely shredded a little bit myself looking like one Jeff, Hartmann net co editor of behind steel curtain. Dot Com one fit data instagram. If you WANNA follow that but not a whole lot of steelers gone Dan going on there but anyway He obviously is a good buddy of Ben Rothlisberger. Do you think that merit alone is something that could get him on the team? I not I'm not so sure that really matters much to the coaching staff. I have a hard time picturing Mike Tomlin being like oh? Hey, guys you know we need to Ryan. Switzer on your over these other guys because. You know he's he's been. I. Think he's made the roster so far because of his versatility because he is a good number, five wide receiver and he's a very safe punt returner See deontay. Johnson showing. He can be a more. A safer more reliable punt returner because he was great and explosive, but he's also fumbled prone if he can. If he can get away from that I don't think Ryan Switzer really has a chance to make this make the squad. Yeah. You know that's Kinda. That's kind of what I'm thinking. I think in that sense if if Ryan Switzer is kind of floating around the the roster, he's kind of close with someone that relationship might kind of push them through obviously bent like obviously I feel like the team would probably consult Ben at the very end of that roster when it comes to. Picking a a six wide receiver say hey, side Black Nolan. Ryan Switzer toss up who works better with you. He'll probably go his body. So I think that's how end up will even if even if he doesn't make the roster it's important to remember there's a few remember the exact number, but there's a few practice squads spots now that are not. You know you don't have to have like a limited number of experience. There's a couple of rosters practice squad so that you just anyone can take. So even if Ryan Switzer one of these other wide receivers don't make the team. They could end up on that practice squad and of course, in they're eligible for call up at any time. Right now. Looking over the live chat here Ezra has a. Interesting take your says with the pick of Clay Pool. I'm Washington is the odd man out in the future. Now do you believe that to be true or are you thinking one Juju Smith Schuster might not be residing here in Pittsburgh is Washington really that odd man out or is this is this team Kinda? Going to be basically whittling down as contracts come up here. If, you look at the positions they played in the passing game Juju Smith Schuster plays a lot in the slot, but he also plays that outside strong side receiver, the C Johnson played almost exclusively x receiver just like Antonio Brown. Similar size similar change of direction. He fits exactly what they like in that x receiver..

"But really chase Klay Pool. He is. He is a lot like what Ben Likes to play with reminds me quite a bit of plex go burruss who I mean they only played together for one year Ben would just throw the ball that will just throw the ball plaxico he did. He just chuck it didn't matter and I think you could see Chase Cape will be that of target where he's like he's one on one basis going to throw it until teams respect that enough that everything else is opening up. So I think chase capable could be a big a big deal to the offense I think guarantee Braun could really really put up numbers here. Obviously I believe is yesterday as well. I kill your steelers wide receiver coach. Through a lot of praise towards chase capable he's GonNa play a lot and he's GonNa. He's GonNa be contributor for the team. I think I think that's probably a bit of an over Johnny being the burner last year deal. Yeah. No I i. think that's a step in the right direction but getting back to ben he he mentioned he's at the lightest weight of his career mom in about thirteen fourteen years. It seems like we on a yearly basis but do you think that's something that's really important something that we really got to keep in mind here that Ben Ben Put, in work this offseason. Yeah I I think that matters lot with his age He's has a lot of wear on legs. He has a lot of wear on his back and just. Carrying around even a little bit less in a little bit less weight being a little more toned, little more conditioned. That's going to make an impact on how his knees feel on his back and that's gonNA affect his mechanics that's GonNa help him so that that I think actually matters more. Now that did in the past when he was younger. Right. So another thing with his body and the injury, of course, a three torn ligaments he mentioned that he was feeling some effects of that. Well, before that seahawks game, is there somewhere stats that you that you can see you like maybe there's a drop off already that you can kind of say like, Oh, Ben Kinda. started feeling affects this in two, thousand, eighteen, two, thousand seventeen is there anything that suggests that when stuff started to roll downhill? Yet two thousand, eighteen, he was not as efficient. Of a passer he just wasn't the problem with that. Know is that. Is. Elbow is that rainy fakers offense is that he's having a falling out with Antonio Brown like there's so many other factors that go in there. It's really hard to pinpoint one thing as I do you know look at this this? This is where he is his elbow and Bad but there, there are some signs that he was not as effective throwing especially deep when you get into two thousand, seventeen into two, thousand, eighteen as he was before them. Right now, you mentioned that you didn't think two thousand eighteen was the best Ben Benue. In your opinion what? What was the Best Ben Rothlisberger what what year? Can you point out and say doubt that's the Best Ben Rothlisberger we got so far. That's that's actually a hard Two thousand fourteen for me. Two thousand fourteen his time to throw was low his yards per attempt were really high his touchdown to interception ratio was great two, thousand, fourteen, two, thousand, fifteen where he is starting to really get into the Todd Haley offense the offensive line is coming together. You've got Martavis Bryant running deep. You've got Antonio Brown in his crime. That was a phenomenal Ben Rothlisberger. He really drove the entire team. and. showed up. I mean we won games in spite of the fact that we didn't have it secondary. We didn't have a defense that was anywhere any good and we win it. We we won. We'll gains we should have. Just, because Ben was dominating yet, you know what I gotTa agree with that that there's a pretty incredible stretch there from fourteen seventeen. That's probably been the best band I think we've seen of his career. You think do you think it's possible? He can get back to that level or should we just kind of expect like average Ben Rothlisberger moving forward here? I Look I look even like Peyton manning when he went to Denver and the situation was a little different but he took off like he's his years in this first couple years in Denver where the best some of the best of his career and I think we could see that with that I. Think we really could see that the situation where and I mean the steelers have one. Of, the cheapest wide receiver rooms in the League because everyone's on a rookie contract but they're also pretty good like we have a lot of depth that wide receiver we got two tight ends. There's a ton of running backs in there and most of them can catch the ball i. we really see Ben Rothlisberger take in statistically have some incredible seasons before it goes downhill eventually. Yeah that that drop off hit peyton manning a ton of bricks that kind of all happen overnight. So I feel like he's not kind the gym rat that one Tom Brady is. So feel like it won't be a gradual decline if you like when Ben's done will no, but Talking more about the kind of talent around him like we mentioned that two thousand, fourteen fifteen sixteen seventeen levy on Bell Antonio Brown Martavis Bryant Juju Smith Schuster when he broke into the league, that lower offense line was was way younger than it was now and even the Angela Williams when he come in. Is this team this offense obvious. Obviously, a whole bunch of talent would kinda was sucked away the last two years it's it's built back a little bit Do you think do you think it's good enough should they have added more or is this offense good enough for Ben to to do his thing and just kind of like, let the defense keep the scores low. That depends on what we see from the young wide receivers of what we see from. Juju, what we see from Deontay Johnson. Judy is GONNA put up stats Juju Smith Schuster God. Put up numbers of what we see from the day Johnson how much he can grow and going into his second year how much James Washington can actually transfer what he was able to do with Mason Rudolph Hodges and actually do some of that bad rothlisburger because he hasn't yet Chase Klay. Pool I like we have so much young depths..

"I guess we can transition to talk about you a little bit And you're steelers fan hood just starting things off. What are you most excited for about this? Upcoming Twenty twenty season. Obviously getting Big Ben back. I think the moment I've been waiting for the game against Seattle last year now continuing with the Big Ben. Do you think if he comes back. One hundred percent healthy. Do you think he could come in and help? This team compete for championship. I I believe so I mean the defense and having a defense that can hold teams under fourteen point since you know all of and Harrison and all that mess magnitude. I'm then that's the last time they went to the Super Bowl. That'd be like stop. It can be able to score points. You know. They'll play James. Donner can stay healthy but be like between him and many smell they can carry the load as long as there's at least a little spread of the passing game. You know it. Was You know there was passing game? Last year is a team stacked box and they were able to stop the random prevent more and even defense. Who's playing amazing that you can't have them play forty minutes of the game. They get tired by the fourth. Quarter they to let up a little bit. Well speaking of the passing game. What do you think of the additions of Eric? Ibran and Chase Klay Pool. I'm hoping we'RE GONNA get degrade share Hebron from two years ago with Andrew Luck. I'm not the one that drives fast than not from the right thing you know. He's passionate on twitter You've ever if you follow on there. He's always talking and stuff like that and you know I'm all for it you know. Hopefully that'd be nice. Read them threaten. You Know Jas people good to see him come on yeah. Getting another downfield threat needs to get some ball. I think they'll make a complimentary but they have right now. Do you think there's one player that's destined for breakout in twenty twenty? I think it has to be gone now. Here you're looking at an ABC loan. In my opinion. Yeah know by major after them last year. They said that he built to get off the ball like ab where we've seen him. The more proved to be true. And I think the case Pittsburgh sports clip of him returning a punt touchdown to clip of. Abc Return on the Kickoff Titans for his first touch on the NFL eerie. How how similar they are now. They just they look like each other. They're running well if Deonte ends up being that good. I think we're in for pretty explosive offense in twenty twenty. Two more questions for you before we let you get out. I guess for starters. How did you personally become a steelers fan? My Dad's from Pittsburgh steeler fan. As far as I can remember. I think my earliest memories is like I was seven years old to wolf thirty. He looks at halftime. I was my ruin ride. Great about from them We've had season tickets thousand a bend every home game. We've been three go and all right last question here for you. Some people have struggled with this one but I will pose you the question. What do you want this fan base snow by you? I am one of you. I'm a ender. Yeah we were all say things crazy things. Whatever we get this often. You know you're GonNa see that reflected on our social media amazing birth and strong opinions just like everybody else. We want nothing but the best for the steelers players never other thing like that awesome. Justin thank you so much time I appreciate it all right that was just in from at steelers nation. And of course you're listening to the alive. Mike brought to you by behind the steel curtain. Dot Com I guess we'll keep things rolling right along and we will introduce our fan spotlight in a moment here. But for starters for those of you who are new to the show Let me just tell you? What a couple of things about our fans spotlight namely It's chance that we get to speak to you the bent so if you are out there and you really want to get on the steelers radio namely on behind the Steel Curtains Platform. I strongly encourage you to Follow both myself at Michael. Fifty six on twitter and of course the behind the steel curtain page We will be looking for each and every one of you Those people that kind of promote their content the most are really just kind of out there and in the in the Internet. I guess I should say We are looking for you and we want to talk to you because this fan base wants to know more about The people that are kind of most prominent in our community. So with that said. Let's bring in our next guest from the blitzburgh account on twitter. He is Chris Ward. Chris how're you doing? Good how you doing Michael doing really well. Thanks for asking him. So your account has been sharing stuff for behind the steel curtain for a while. Now how long is that kind of partnership for Two years a jeff asked us to help out social media and We just Been doing it ever since. And a really joy being part of the Behind Steel Curtain family and Really good page To interact with other steeler fans. Now how did the pay your page? Exactly start up in How did it get so big? I'll a couple years ago we've been around for about five years but the other guy that He started the page is named Zach. He's an Florida but he's Deanne me one day and asked to help out the page and we've ever since you know just interact with steeler fans in posting articles and give us our opinions on the team and and How just probably over years posted than stuff We're on their PREFRE frequently and Just grew grew over time. Just interact with fans and everything right so when you see so many commentators and of course having so many followers of course you'll run into a bunch of negativity. Do you guess can handle that through your page. Do Block people like. What are you guys necessarily do? Personally I don't really blocked people. I mean we might have a few people on there. That might you know you know Mike trouble or sounds about? Are you negatively back? Really not worth it. You know respect all of us and stuff everyone opinions you know people are going to disagree. You know when it comes to sports and the steelers people are going to have different thoughts and opinions so it's all good for must've time now. What's what's it like running a page with such a large bowling. It's pretty cool. I mean You get You know honestly interact with people from all over the world really you know. Sometimes we do you know. Ask Fans where where they're from or something and it's amazing to see how far you know. Steelers fans spread out all across the country and like I said even in Europe and South America outside Western. Pa in Pittsburgh so it's pretty cool too but you know you get interact with some you know we. We talk with beat reporters through fall in like sharing their their work and stuff so it was pretty cool to You know a couple of players follow us and stuff but we don't really interact with the players at all but but they fall a is cool to you know You know to have to reach out to some of the people that are there that You know cover the steelers and in you know. Have a pretty big outreach on twitter right now I guess we can transitional bit to actually just talking about the team itself. What do you think of this offseason? Do you think did enough to address. The offense needs. Yes I like Like they added. Klay pull You know big red zone target. I mean I think it's GonNa take a while because the for him to make a real impact because the you know not having T. As in the training camp but I think he has a lot of potential. I really liked the mark McFarland picky. Now I still Kinda like you're wondering like Amtrak Dobbins there at the time. 'cause you know a featured back that could've you know could have Doesn't damage I year. One McFarland you know he might. He might be a project player but the more I watch them. I really like really like what he do. He has lost speed but I think I like. He's a really good run blocker and I think he could potentially a few years from now be like the remount row fosters replacement there at left guard right so You mentioned you mentioned Chase Klay Pool. Of course the big wide receiver the team added. What do you think of this receiving core of course to it's a pretty young unit I guess there's of question marks on whether or not this may even be Juju Smith Schuster last season. Do you think this receiving core has been built Built in a way that it can kind of extend the future Who Do you think's GonNa stick around a just kind of your general thoughts on that that unit? Yeah I mean you like you said it's the young you tend to have a lot of potential there with you. Know the Andre Johnson. Really shine their last year with without even having Rothlisberger as a quarterback so I think there's good things the for him in the future and I'll do I think I think he's GonNa have a balanced back year. I think really what had to do with you. Know people say you didn't have Antonio Brown but think the real issues obviously injuries and the quarterback play. Obviously you know not not up to par last year with DOT COM and Mason Rudolph So I think it was really tough for him to really. You know have production last year James James Washington I think he made strides last year to Especially the back. Half of the season saw mentioned to see what he could do. A with one comes back but I know it all comes down to Rothlisburger and I think he with him back. I think you'll really get those receivers numbers up compared to last year right. Now I I guess We can transition away from the team and kind of just talk about yourself briefly here in just a couple of questions for you. Firstly how did you become a fan of the Pittsburgh steelers? I've just my family's from the Pittsburgh area. I'm in Pittsburgh right now. Does it just kind of always been you know born with it? There's not really a time that I follow you. Know on the steelers fan because this player and is just. It wasn't something that was always ingrained in me. But I am twenty five or twenty six so I just turned twenty. I grew up the players like drone data. And you know even Kordell Stewart and Choi Palmolive. Joey those guys so Just became just grew over time and become like a hobby and passion of being a steelers Fan. Now I guess last question here for you. What are you most excited for about this twenty twenty season? I'm excited to see Ben Comeback. I think I think he has two years probably at the most to come back so I'm hoping for another super bowl run. The defense is off. You know top five union with with players like T. J. Watt and Devin Bush and make dispatched three..

"It's I think it's one of the best place Made last year and it stalled a driving force field goal in Kyle. Lowry probably makes a lot of safeties. Miss puts real edmonds in that spot. That edmonds made with the ball in the air is really bad. Sounds like why the LOWLIGHTS lowlights dim definitely no high like we were just dip bright? "Rivera said, no to an extra point attempt and overtime. But Cam Newton missed a wide open receiver game over Carolina false three games behind the saints, though, they played twice and two six and four with a couple of band losses tone, you good with riverboat Ron going for two of OT. No. It was stupid was stupid beyond words. And don't tell me the Cam Newton miss the past judgment. But that's not judgment is based on isn't the rifle. This is not college. This is the pros. I understand Matt Canada at Maryland. Trying to go for two to beat Ohio State at home. 'cause maybe he then becomes the permanent coach at the university of Maryland 'cause he'd beat Ohio State. This is the Detroit Lions this is not a Hieaux state. You kick the PAT, and you go to overtime with the team that you think you're better than this was crazy dumb. Are you going to disagree with this? I think I agree with you. But his the problem I have. Two teams played last night and on the two touchdown plays. It was scored by the Chicago Bears rookie head coach matinee Nagy goes for two twice. And makes it and nobody says bul. Okay. Was it in the one minute to go situation where the game is on the first minute. He went forth from Ota eight. Oh, that's that's not the same. They got crushed by Pittsburgh. They just lost to the lions. They are still technically soda as Minnesota. They are technically the wildcard team right now. But they just let a lot of teams back agree with you. I mean, I'm looking at that in real time going what God you. Yes. Out of your plane drugs induced

"They could be a team that could bond, and they did that if I'm met Canada, I reinforce their good behavior in this time of tremendous stress for them as student athletes, and I say, let's keep doing it. I would make sure that is all on them the attention the praise and anything that Canada. I get is possibly the head coach going forward or not all that stuff is totally secondary those kids in that locker room. That's how you must treat it. Well, one hundred percent that is very clear. This could be a good opportunity for Matt Canada. This could lead to better things for him going forward. But that's not the point here. My biggest concern it any situation like this where you have someone from within a program where the head coach has been let go because of massive issues in the culture there is to ensure that that person who is now taking over was not complicit and was not buying in and part of it. Because then what are you changing if you're just elevating someone who was okay? And who sat back in a lot of to happen. I don't know this for a factor. But you would think that this investigation. Would've yielded that Matt Canada was in no way, shape or form involved in this culture of tuck city that existed at Maryland. And and maybe people will say like how is that possible? If he's the offensive coordinator in the acting head coach, how could he have no knowledge or no influence at all in the culture of this program. But at the end of the day, he was I don't say serving, but he was working for DJ Dirk, and it was DJ Durkan show to run. So Matt Canada has certainly done a nice job over the past. I guess eight weeks or eight games of navigating the ship. And I thought that again Trevor hit the Mark there in terms of like you need to make this as a team about the players, right? It's about honoring your fallen, brother. And it's about doing what you have done so far weathering the storm because it has been a storm for players, you know, although these are these are people who have unique physical gifts. And as a result of that they are put into a situation that puts a lot of spotlight on them. Like, they're still eighteen nineteen and twenty and twenty one. Old kids. Right. There's still kids. That's what they are. Right. I mean, I'm not that neither you know. I was certainly not that level. But like, I remember being a college athlete myself. And I don't think I could have ever handled something with this kind of gravity to it. So the focus now for Matt Canada. And the rest of the staff is like, I think make the brotherhood stronger, make the family bonds stronger, and I think that's the only way that you can proceed right now there has been so much has been tossed at this program, and they've handled it with, you know, unbelievable resolve and now maybe weirdly, there's a little bit of closure on the situation that can allow these players to proceed not not to forget what has happened, but to honor it in a different way because they know that there's been resolution in a situation that has been dramatic and sweeping and really difficult to deal with day today and beyond just making. Sure, they're okay. Making them feel safe. Right. Yep. Because we need to make sure that we're not hearing stories about warring warring sides. Whether that's guys who did support Dirk and taking on those who they feel might be responsible for for pushing him out people who may. Even have been on the side of the strength coaches already gone. This doesn't clean up easily for us in the media. We may stop talking about it. When DJ Durkan is is let go we may follow up occasionally. It's not going to be a talking point the way that it has been. But that doesn't mean that the story won't continue to be complicated for those who are deep in it. And I think that's important to remember as we're checking back in to make sure that the culture has changed and to make sure that the effects of this investigation and all the students involved in it don't ruin what is going for the rest of this season there cleaves experience their educational opportunities. And otherwise, it's a straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless, nationwide coverage on America's largest and most dependable four G L T networks coming up..

"All right. Well, maybe we should. We should keep that energy going. Let's meet a person from Schwartz. Who. There's a guy from France and drill Ian. Matt Canada, all dogs. Cadwell. Now I just want to make it clear. I did not. We did not go down the g graphic road. But I understand. I don't mind you getting excited and saying, like, I mean, saying he's from France, could've made all the difference. You'd never tomorrow. You could be like, I fucking did it. I did it for you. John Paul, I'm the reason why you were unharmed town, but I am not being a tease. I don't want. I just wanna make a sensible decision. Sure to nobody. Sensible decision won't involve yelling things out. Especially vasectomy. Has anyone has anyone travel. You had a Secta me. Someone that's talked about this at the top of the show, bring Joe eight. Well, let me let me consult with Brandon. I and we'll be right back. That could be good, Brendan. What do you think should be? Who should we? What should we ask for her? Am I doing wrong already? Jeff? Usually his a hair trigger and he just goes back Jeff. We'll just Kumo of like, I mean, I know not congested. He is. Things always turn out well, but I always think in my head, I'm like, Jeff, that was irresponsible. To bring that because it will just be somebody'll just get you agreed. Let's go. I hate that guy. What are they doing? Famer max gonna. Get up here. Get up here. Yeah, I will tell you. I do have a pretty good judge of character. Oh, shit. Like I do think that what he says to. No, no, it's just I mean, if you're frontloading like this. I'm not afraid of myself. I, that's great. I think we need that. I feel there's a, there's a, there's a do love French because we're all Americans. So he would be the most different, right? Possibly learn something in this motherfucker. No one. Hell. Hell, it's sad. The idea of we're going to learn something where we're already feeling so bad. We're feeling so bad. We just wanna meet like a gardener. You know, we wanna like turn in interesting and tristen gardeners gardeners gardeners up feeling for some reason. I'm feeling this outfit right here of shit, which out cheated even here. I do love this outfit, so so as a shallow person, that is where I go. I. Well, I mean she's not a volunteers that don't make her more comfortable. If you bring her up, you got to force her up. "So Matt Canada is the interim head coach at Maryland as the head coach DJ Durkan is on paid administrative leave, and we're looking back at some of the things he said about record his strength and conditioning coach in the past, and listen to this sound about his admiration for record from two thousand sixteen big ten media days. Players they want to be successfully. Most people they so they're embracing change, and I got a great staff around me is helping with change. And in particular, our strength coach record is with our guys right now. We're gonna. He are very in line with how we see the culture that needs to be world program easy, go. Paul hearing that now knowing what we know, what should Marilyn do here? I think they should fire coach short and right there is the beginning of the trail that is going to lead to what Heather sediment ago as for him to be dismissed because he can't. I know you can't separate yourself from that individual anyway. When and Tom knows this better than I do. But when you come in to change your culture, the strength and conditioning coaches, the first place you go. And so those two are linked forever. And I think by my saying that and their other strong comments at he aid in terms of he was the right person to come in and change the culture. Those words will just aid to this committee's decision, which I think is already been made that he will be fired well, and Paul, if the committee is truly doing an objective investigative review of this one they're going to do as they're gonna. They're gonna find out if any way, shape or form directives were given to the str-. Conditioning coach on behalf of DJ, Dirk. Listen, Durkan is right about one thing. Arguably the most important person you hire a new head coach is your strength coach. 'cause he's the guy that sets the tone for your winter conditioning program where you start weeding through guys, you're going to deal with the tradition and you're gonna make it hard. But if that head coach is linked to any directive that is meant to demean humiliate physically or verbally abuse a student athlete, then it's over. And I think the one thing that we do have to give credit to Maryland's administration. The investigative team for here is they're going to take their time to make sure that they find that out and offer. I'm curious about one thing though, and we all sat here yesterday and gave them a lot of praise, but I think those who have questioned, why did it take them so long is a legitimate thing to bring up. And if you take, if you take Heather and other reporters story from the other day, out of the. Equation. Where would we be today? Would we have heard from president low, Damon Evans? Would we have any of this change? Well, that's the question that nobody can answer is how did we get sixty three days removed from this before this came to play? Nobody can answer that question. It's unfathomable, it's unthinkable. It's inexcusable. The administration knows that. But with everybody involved in less than I am not in any way, shape or form trying to diminish the tragedy of the loss of human life with Jordan McNair. But if we're going to look at this because listen the Washington Post came out with something today where there's a lot of contradicting opinions and viewpoints from parents and current players that aren't saying this was a toxic culture, so not to defend or support anybody, but it of Maryland's job to make sure that they gather all the information in every avenue to make an informed educated decision in if that means that by the end of doing so that DJ Durkan is culpable in this, then he's gone. He should be gone. Should be gone. Really. And when you talk about the culture of college football and the secrecy of college football and the power that the coaches have, this example is like this shows how bad that it's been the fact that the media has had had to act as a watchdog in all of this..

"Well i do know that there are a lot better in their offense if front and their defensive front and you know you're not gonna hear a lot about that because it's the office as keep jackson used to say call the big is they never talk about them but you sure need them and they they didn't have enough of them last year and i think it was the problem that they had in the alabama game the problem they had him several other key games where physically they weren't superior okay it didn't show up against teams that they were superior than physically but when they were matched up against teams at whereas or or more physical the lack of offensive line's a really young particularly up front as i thought the quarterback actually at linger was was serviceable when he was protected he was protected particularly well i think this year they're going to be much better protected which whoever it is that quarterback okay and that's the issue who will it be i think you'll be better protected therefore has a chance to be more successful than the passing game you've lost guys we don't know who the next one of those great running backs from lsu will be on guarantee they're going to have thousands russia though with the offense that that stevens mingas gonna run and the other overblown part of all of this is the sort of substance over style decision that was made by ores you're on that i frankly agree with he wanted stevens ming to be his guy all along matt canada was sort of forced on him by those above him if you get my drift i can't believe i have to.

"Okay i think it's a good fit because what's his stick matt canada the the fly sweep action motion right yeah a lot of lot of motions lot of trying to stretch linebackers opened things up maybe maybe it's that the motions creating a motion for me i don't know but got a lot of guys moving around pre snap tries to create confusion loves the jet sweep the fall that stuff right trying to stretch your defense outside decide to create opportunities down the field what i like about the setup dan borton schlager definitely not definitely not that okay the offense has a bunch of guys with good speed who can make you miss true tigon mcfarland dj turner matt canada's going to be in a position where he can try out some different stuff this year because of these guys the caveat is health maryland everybody got hurt from maryland last year they did and we're not fully gonna know the health of tyrel pilgrim qassim hill quarterback till later in the year they're not gonna do anything the spring both tory sales last year the offense of line might be healthier later in the year if this all comes together it's going to happen late summer it's going to happen all at once assuming good health it seems like net canada could build a sneaky dangerous ground attack here at maryland with a lot of guys that have interesting skill sets so maryland is on a winning streak against texas and they opened up the season with them i believe it's at home in college park the good news.

"Yeah all new guy new old guy yeah he's been around he's been around for a while that name doesn't sound familiar that's okay what you need to know is that he was the interim ac back in twenty sixteen i guess when on took over for the final eight games of the year and had a really nice run he did they won six of those eight games didn't do all that well offensively against teams like alabama and florida well but it was certainly a big step up from what we saw under cam cameron for sure so there's that i think the two names you're going to hear the most about or miles brennan and my l nar sees okay who would you give the edge to because these are two guys i mean brennan obviously has the playing time ayaan rc's has the name ed name in that it's more fun to say so to you 'cause i've from what i can remember it's a more not necessarily pro style but more traditional a lot of chances and yeah it's whereas where matt canada had employed a lot of shifts and was certainly multiple i don't think he was a spread guy necessarily but definitely multiple and more creative than what lsu had shown in years past with relying on a lot of fly action and that kind of straight that's right so bigger is more of a throwback say is absolutely more prostyle than that candidate if matt canada is a hybrid between pro style and spread think is mostly accurate and speaker is much much more on the prostyle side of that equation if you look back to what he ran in twenty sixteen when he was the interim oh see it was much more prostyle oriented and i think just because of that miles brennan's probably the guy he's a better fit for a system like that he's the best.
