Marvel's Avengers Increases the XP Grind and Gets Rid of Random Cosmetic Drops

"So. Let's talk about a little game called marvel's vendors that i know i never talk about it all and he pick up with or hammer as i read this one. Put a blog post talking about both rewards for xp and cosmetic so. We'll start with a very dumb decision. We'll start with x. P. since we launched last september our balancing has been evaluating the x. p. for leveling from one to fifty and we making some changes to address to core issues the current. Xp curve isn't really a curve at all in most rpg's the amount of xp you need the level up increases as you gain levels in a curve but our system is a straight line. This is led to pacing issues such a skill points currently being rewarded too fast which may be confusing and overwhelming to newer players. We want each decision to invest in a skill to be heroic or meaning in a skill or heroic to be more meaningful based on these issues will be increasing. The amount of needed to level up starting from around level twenty five this amount will increase the closer you get to level fifty so that it will take longer to reach higher levels and will only affect character level not power level if you already have a level fifty character which is the current maximum. This one fact you. If you have a character who isn't level fifty. You want to speed up their progress. Take time to do this. Before we update on march eighteenth of march eighteenth is when hawkeye is dropping the future imperfect storyline content hawkeye character. And we'll probably more importantly for a lot of people the playstation five xbox series x version asked versions of avengers.

"Talk about. I come down and we're gonna stay living apart of the pop culture cosmo's year. Enjoy having you here my friend but before we have an out. I wanted to ask you this. Your thoughts on where we stand now with marvel cinematic universe. Are you still as excited for the mcu after wander fish. I am but for different reasons. Maybe people are so some of my favorite marvel characters are obviously some of the main that we in the first three days of you. So captain america black camper. I wasn't such a huge iron man. Fan and i think that robert downey junior trail of tony. Stark iron man has really catapulted his edits to being to list superheroes a top tier ayla superhero. But i'm excited because i'm curious to see where we go from here. Obviously i'm excited the next blade phil. I'm excited to see how they incorporate the meeting sense of the marvel cinematic universe. We thought we had the answers with the multi. Verse here in wanda sure of getting fighting said i know i mean control. I'm the. I'm the puppeteer. I'm pulling the strings. You guys just here for the ride. So i'm excited to see where we go from here. So yes i'm excited. I'm excited to see how the opportunity before i'm excited. See how we hold onto some his characters that quote unquote didn't really die and gay and some of the district did that name game. I can't wait to see the black widow for whenever they release it however their release it. I'll be excited to see that excited to see where that places back widow in regards to move forward and the you there's just so much more potential now you know now. They've got the fox deal done. Now that it's it's set in stone. There's the sky's the limit to introduce the fantastic four doctor doom. Newton's i'm really looking forward to that. So yes i'm still just excited. They earned my admiration. They've earned my trust and say they've got a great method for telling stories overall. You know so. Yes still excited to see what happens if as for nba very well. We'll see what happens going. Forward in a couple of weeks as falcon and the winter soldier hits disney plus. We're going to be covering it all for you. Tj you're welcome to come back anytime. Julia Alexander shares her experience with the streaming landscape

"Zander. Welcome to rico media welcome back it's been a while. Thank you so excited to be back a well. There's always a new streaming service talk about are actually maybe not. Maybe we are at the end of the new streaming service launches paramount plus is launching today Discovery plus. i think that's it for at least things he'd been promised are coming right out of all the big media companies. They're all done now. So i wanna talk to you about Both discovery and paramount plus. But let's go very very big picture streaming wars. I know we're not supposed to remorse. But they're they've been going on for a while now. All the major players that are gonna be here are here Has come and gone you. You wrote their tombstone for them The day the day it launched. I remember i asked you Do we have any big picture thoughts about everything that we've seen so far in the relative performance of everyone that isn't net flicks. The obvious winner so far in the streaming wars the word term. We're not supposed to use Is clearly a set of netflix's is clearly disney. Plus i think that speaks to two specific things one brand recognition and and kind of filling a need and in that situation disney plus provides endless entertainment for kids and it provides a safe way place for kids to be this not youtube so freaking out but what their kids are watching at a very low cost into. I think it speaks to the fact that disney can overall you know spend less on the idea of of like marketing for cost acquisition and they can just spend less on having to tell people at disney plus because within fifteen months people figured out disney and i think the big thing will see over the next few years is warnermedia in nbc universal and buy com cbs. Just to name a few are gonna have to figure out how to make peacock and it feel max and paramount plaza really resonate with consumers without reiterating over and over again. What it is. they're paying for. Yeah i mean disney. We all sort of got what it was right away. And they had the mandalorian which was a huge hit and people talked about and they had hamilton which i think didn't get enough coverage but it definitely spiked Their stuff the summer so also when they stopped giving away free trials and now they have one division This is really the most crucial question to ask you. One division or mandalorian. Where where do you come down. Oh man that's like choosing children You know there is definitely a correct answer. There is definitely a better kid in this group. I mean the answers born division. That is correct. That is correct that and by the way. I'm not a marvel fan boy. Seen most of it now just because i i have to. It's my favorite marvel thing by far. I think it'd be hard to wash if you didn't consume any marble but it's great and it's so much better than i thought it was going to be. Good for you julia. You're invited back again. You don't want to do. You wanna hedge that at all. In case you have angry mandalorian star wars people coming out. You say it's even more impressive considering that it was supposed to be the second or third marvel show to come out because it was so weird that they were worried. But i mean everyone loves it and finally we have appointment. Tv at three in the morning again. Do they explain why they're putting out new new episodes at three in the morning eastern time. They told cnn that it was the best time on a global scale is global. But it's also funny that we're talking about it with disney plus. When flexes done this for years they always drop it at midnight. Pacific time three dropped a whole new season. Yeah yeah and they are still. They're still clinging to that. Okay so let's talk about the two latest slash last entries in the streaming wars discovery plus came out. I was not very enthusiastic about it. Not from a programming. Since i just didn't think it filled a need. It looks like it's done better than people might have thought that the number fuzzy. We don't exactly know how they perform. But tell us what you think about discovery plus early on. I wrote about this week over at the verge that it is my favorite going to streaming service. It is in my apartment every single day from it. Am till six seven pm and it's because they've done two things really well. They have created background noise. In a way that i don't have to think about it once it's on it's the perfect form of ambient tv or referred. Its waiting room television. You kinda put it on. You forget it's there. You check in on snow while but the fact that i can go and choose from house interest channel or diners dives and drive in channel and just leave it and not think about it has created an ambulance so they really love during the pandemic. An i keep referring to it as it's done for adults what disney plus for kids which is. If you don't wanna watch frozen over and over again i do watch how centers over and over again have on the background And so. I think i know that they really were. They had this whole theory about like people are gonna come back to us. Good sir favorite shows in the watches over and over again. And i think part of it is like yes in the sense that i like having house centers on the background and therefore it fulfils that need but also think they really don't get enough credit for figuring out passive television allen constant scale without ads playing for me if i have the app plan and it is the greatest discovery. I've had a string lies in the last six months.

"Nope nope just kidding. Just kidding gach it like it was a letdown. I think that's one of the but there were several things that they threw out there that they got people excited for that. They let us down on with this series. And i think that's something that they need to go ahead and check themselves on because i know marvel stuff doesn't stink for a lot of people out there but marvel stuff did stink on occasion here but overall there was some positive aspects. I assumed from wanda vision that you took from it correct but as far as if you want to jump into the positives. I enjoyed the battle. I thought her kind of really coming into her own. Kind of letting go and outsmarting ashgabat or owned game pitching in that you know once you create the once you put the rooms only the which that creates the rules in the space can use their magic little does. She realized that she wasn't missing. She was aiming for the different size of the heck so it was a pretty cool thing to see play out and it was really cool to see your kind of really tape on power really while not understanding it almost letter so go to what could potentially be this devastating force and this is bittersweet nikolaev with vision. I think that i enjoy the way ended from the standpoint of yes. We're gonna see more version. Obviously it's come very clear that business not going anywhere especially wind being such a huge part of the marvel universe moving forward you have to have vision kind of go along with that and it was really cool to see the emotional aspect of her connection with vision and he's like no. I was just a memory. You know who knows what next. And it was very very touching the see paul ben olsen were together in that capacity because we really have gotten a chance to see them very intimate if you will outside of the breed nece that was Avengers infinity war..

WandaVision: Scarlet Witch's Magic Breaks the MCU's Rules

"Week i talked about the nexus nexus being and how wanda is going to be the next this being the next is being being the one that can control the their the prime in in the universe but they control like the multi-diverse and i don't know about that now i i really don't know if that's if wanda is the next us being because they introduced in this episode. They said that. Wanda is basically the kind of like the conductor of chaos magic and we'll we'll jump into chaos magic here in a little bit. But what were you saying. Steven i was gonna say. I took the confirmation that that they are heading there without officially giving her the label of the next being like giving their own cute different name. Which is the chaos which or whatever it was using chaos magic but chaos. Magic is something completely different than the next being chaos magic but it's basically chaos. Magic is basically create a had it written down what agatha said She says to the this. Chaos magic wanda that makes you the scarlet witch And then it says. I don't know it's from somewhere else. But is chaos. Magic is the name of magic so powerful that it was thought to be nonexistent. Even by the source where supreme this magic can be manipulated warp and reconstruct the very fabric of existence and reality for the user and it brings total destruction to the cosmos. Yeah rebecca slow. Isn't that i think that's the thing that's not from this episode though that is from like you know like marvel wicky fandom which i mean trip definitely could be something that she's able to do but in this episode the way that agatha described it was basically you can with your yet. She's capable of creating spontaneous creation. She says you have no idea how dangerous you are. You're supposed to be a myth. A being capable of spontaneous creation. Here you are using it to make breakfast for dinner. This chaos magic wanda

"And i think marble is going to be one of those things where it's the lok effect where we only thought of her in this context but she did such a great job. We're going to have to expand her role going forward and the thing is she's not trapped or bound by the confines of westview because west us no longer in a hex literally go anywhere although she will be stuck as the nineteen fifties neighbor on. This wanna says otherwise. Some of these minor characters are who. I really want to see develop more in season two. Or maybe even have their own little storylines and other movies and tv shows for health perspective marvels in a great spot. They've done a lot to develop themselves taking all of two thousand twenty off. you know. i think we're in a really good spot. We know that wanda visions has set the stage for the future. And i'm cool with it man. I'm ready to go for all the long haul stuff marble but one last question i asked you before we head on out my friend and that is this. Are you as excited less excited or more excited about the mc. Going forward after the events of wanda vish. I am more excited. It just feels like we set the stage for the future. And i think a good spot for the mcu were have the ability to tell some great stories over the next year. So if you were to give it that hard eight or hard nine what would you give. It can't game in eight or nine. Gotta give me an you. Eight and a half. It's gotta be a solid number. I would give it a nine. This is a show that you could bring a new marvel fan and that's never seen some of the back stuff in just plop them right in and i think it'd be okay moving forward. Go all right. it's my good friend. Marcus garza you hear him along with me as we cover the latest news and transit pop culture every friday right here on the p. c. multi-diverse.

Disney Plus Launches Star, A Streaming Outlet With More Grown-Up Fare

"Knew that star was launching february twenty third which recording this yesterday. I am in canada. So i have access to it along with australia. New zealand parts of europe in singapore. So a few countries have this new section on their disney plus app. And it's a big deal. It's a big deal for me. Because we get all the wes anderson movies. It's a big deal for some other people because they get like twenty four and richard devine from window. Central is tweeting about how much she loves. Twenty four and jack bowers back baby and all that so. I just wanted to talk about where we are in terms of streaming. I know disney or marvel disney made a big bunch of big announcement this morning On when the next set of mcu in star wars shows will be released on disney plus. And then there's all the other services right. There's hbo max there's peacock there's discovery plus there's Paramount plus. I guess if you want to call that new and all this leads to confusion for people who just want to find the show to watch. So let's start with disney. They now have ninety five million subscribers. They are doing really really well. In terms of expansion into new countries. This new star lodge is a big deal so give us the t. l. Dr if you will of why star launched now and why. It's a big deal for people outside the us lawyers. It's always the lawyers. Yeah i say why did it launch now because this is when they could finally agree on. Okay here's where the contracts in so we can pick things up. Yeah the the. The really oversimplified version is this in the united states. We have hulu and hulu has basically everything. That's not under the five pillars of disney plus in those disney star. Wars marvel pixar in national geographic. Anything outside of that. you what. You're forgetting well. I was gonna say you're forgetting the pillar of twentieth century fox and twentieth century fox which is on hulu so so virtually anything outside of those five pillars in the. Us will find on hulu yes. They're exceptions the problem is hulu is not anywhere in the rest of the world. It's a decidedly american phenomenon and so disney needed a way to get all this content to everybody else in pay by the way they get to charge a little more for it too and that became star the way they first announced it they do it. What other earnings calls last year It was a little like just weird. I didn't even fully understand it at the time and it took a little while to sink in and then the developer not developer days there investor days into simmer november december whenever that was explained. It a little better really. It's just that simple if it's if it's content you can probably find on hulu here in the us it's going to be on star everywhere else. So given that disney twentieth century fox. They bought a. They bought that from fox which was previously a shareholder in hulu disney is now the majority shareholder of hulu. Why can't they just bring hulu to the rest of the world. What is that. I mean i don't know the brand well who owns. Who is the issue there although disney now entirely owns who if i correct right they finish tying their last pieces of hulu like two years ago for for all intents and purposes and there might be somebody with a little sliver but it it's a disney joint partially owned by comcast but they're buying it slowly over the next few years right. Yeah that was an agreement that was made a couple of years ago but But that's why comcast is okay. All of our stuff is leaving hulu at this date because we will no longer have a share in it and it's all going to peacock But yeah the reason that who didn't exist in all these other countries was media streaming lauzon like entertainment and streaming laws vary by country by country. It takes a lot of money to get the rights to a decent amount of shows in places other than the us so it was a matter of hulu. Didn't really have the time or the or the money to spend on investing in trying to build up a catalog and other countries the only other country that hulu is in outside of the united states is japan. And i'm not sure how much longer is going to be there since they're probably going to roll it into star but it's disney had the clout to roll around the disney also already had rights to a lot of these things or the released they in contracts and have the rights back right so it's just easier to bring a new sub domain umbrella underneath disney plus put all the twentieth century fox content in there called star and make it a separate kind of expansion for everybody who already has disney plus. All star is disney. Plus for grownups. It's harder to always you know proper phones not anymore. But that's a. That's a good analogy. Yeah all right. So we we have star. It's got all the twentieth century fox stuff. I think it's got more than that. That's also where a lot of like. Abc television stuff ended up. It's also where a bunch of other like indie stuff that disney and fox had bought up over the years. Anything fox searchlight his ended up in there. That's why it's it's a huge a collection of content. I'm amazed that they were able to get the international rights for those together quickly. Enough for star for the international launches. So the question. I have is is disney. Plus going to host new content in star is that is this where they're going to compete with netflix and hbo for adult viewership or are they still kind of not really aiming at that audience. No actually. I think you've got that right in. It's going to get a little weird because contents can vary by country but you can see that a little bit in the in the Release lists you get you get stuff that is decidedly more adult in there and and part of that is just from the content. That's coming out of those houses in the first place. If you look at specifically fx stuff here it's called fx. Hulu it is it is. I don't know that. I'd go so far as to say it's r rated but it's pretty damn close. Fx is yeah fx is definitely not child-friendly content like ninety percent of it like isn't fx. Were archer lives yeah. Fx is is archer archer archers ethics original sort of But yeah we look at the. The new exclusive stuff like fx on hulu like depths. Was one. I loved last year. I thought it was excellent right up until the end and it went. A little off the rails. Mrs america was on there as well. I mean there's stuff that the you wouldn't even otherwise necessarily see on cable but that they're streaming in that fashion. lets them. do you know just a little more than they. otherwise would have And it's not something that you would see on disney plus so this gives them another conduit for that stuff as well. Yeah and the brand new original content is also going. It's going to vary by the audience category. 'cause like anything that's marvel or star wars is not going to be listed under the star brand period. If it belongs to one of those temples it's still going to be disney plus branded and everything starts going to have the both labels at the bottom whenever they're advertising it but it's a matter of if we're going to do original series if it's pg or if it's pg thirteen below it'll probably be disney plus branded and if it's not pg thirteen disney and pg thirteen and up will probably be star

"Soldier starts up here in a couple of weeks and then couple of weeks after that show ends loki starts up and then a black widow comes out. Maybe we'll see But yeah. I mean i'm not like stoked on it but i am curious with avengers. Infinity orrin game. Is i guess. This is just kind of like okay. We'll we'll watch it when it happens. I'm so excited for myself. As far as for falconer the winter soldier. Because i think this takes me back to a part of the universe that i to see. And that's the captain america's side of things. Because i've always had great things to say about that ever since the winter soldier. Ever since the first captain america i've always preferred that side of the universe and i think because our future is coming to falconer soldier. I'm really excited to see that part of the. Emc yeah yeah. I'm really excited about that when two. I'm more excited about what's coming up here with spider man and doctor strange like those are two things. I'm really looking forward. So shang cheese coming out somewhere. Yes neighborhood journal someday. Maybe the eternal someday okay so are reading a lot of interesting things. Heroes for hire i. We've we've talked about that lou. Coulter from the netflix series is allegedly playing luke cage again. And then danny rans being re casted but those are supposed to tie into shang chi and then they're supposed to like somehow connect the defenders timeline to that. I don't know but there's a lot brewing at marvel especially with you know you look at like miss marvel iron heart. There's a lot of like shows coming out that are supposed to be like bridging continuity but this is a neat little thing. But i'm just curious. How much is too much. The biggest leg. What question here is the bad guy. They never clearly explained his motives for being what was and i think if they would have had a solid like backstory leading into this like it could change the whole dynamic of the show. But anyways that's my closing thought they were hayward hayward so yeah agent hayward's role in the lead of sword was just basically your average typical everyday movie or television series type bad guy as far as the head of an organization and his character seemingly got and less noteworthy as the series went on. Which disappointment. because you like you said you could abroad his character a lot more and ended up not doing so so it's a big disappointment. There and again there are some little things that we can keep on talking about both good and bad but we wanna hear thoughts when it comes to one. Division gives us a great what its end. Let us know your thoughts on wanda vision. We want to hear your thoughts and the future of the marvel semak ears. Are you still just as excited for what's to come in the mcu. Makeup Artist Michael Anthony on Breaking Industry Boundaries

"There is this idea that you have to put yourself in a box of. This is the kind of makeup. I do and that's something that i have always refused. I've never i've never said to myself. Golly gee the only way. I'm gonna make if i get like on a press tour for like a big marvel movie and work with like elite actress doing bronzes. Smokey is for a year. I i to me doing red carpet or like just beautiful everyday glam. That's like taking your first math course. That has to be something. That's in your back pocket at all times from the beginning. That's not like a goalpost for me so used to get frustrated by this idea that what excites me is like images with stickers and the jamie nelson hype imagery where it's like candy but what inspires all these agents in all these brands that are sponsoring things. Are these boring red carpet post with everyone pose like a tea kettle in front of. I'm like how am i. How am i going to make my way in this business. I will be so bored. If that's all i do you know that. I wonder why they liked that so much. I think that it's just an all an outdated structure but also to sell things. And if i get it i understand it. It's like if you are trying to sell something very specific. You can't have everything in the kitchen. Sink on it because people the general public can't dig through at all But i mean exist in a world. Where i can do. Both you know. Sometimes on the same people i can give you a beautiful red card. Bit just a nice fluffy lash and like a matt peachy lip and then the next day. We're going to give you like tapes and glitter and you know stickers and the whole kin

Wandavision is breaking open the multiverse in the MCU

"Wanda vision has been one of the more fascinating. Mcu projects well ever introduction of x. men quicksilver as a multi verse wrinkled thing. So let's discuss. What this all means. Chang the daily charge. We're off today for president's day so we pre-tape this episode and decided to have a little fun with one division so here to help us is dutiful. One division recap sean kane. Welcome sean thanks for having me. Are we technically speaking from a different reality. Then since we're you know this is from a different time. Kind differ time for sure. We'll see what happens on monday. We can't really predict what's gonna what's going to be like on monday. We might be in another universe. I don't know clearly marbles having some fun here teasing or potentially even breaking open the door to the multi-diverse with with wanna vision and full force. Boiler alert The last episode aired on friday. So running the some money so hopefully if you are watching this you've already watched it but this is just a bit of a warning. We are gonna go into spoilers. We're going to speculate about the whole show so if you had a washed it and you do intend to watch one vision and especially the pacific. The latest episode. Stop here go ahead. Watch the show. Come on back so that side. Let's let's jump into it sean. The last episode. Well let's get actually. Let's talk about episode five and ending episode five. That's when we the introduction of quicksilver and quicksilver not played by the actor who was an age of altron whose name escapes me for some reason But actually by the x men universe's version of quicksilver. A an interesting wrinkle a very interesting twist that has all kinds of implications show. What did you. How did you react to that that big moment at the end of episode five. Yeah it was wild. I mean like when the doorbell rings or the can't remember. I got really excited. All who is this like is this going to be atro- and it was and it just gave me the sense that like it. It's all fair game like any marvel cinema now. It feels like we could. We could see reference. Which i love. I love the idea of the acknowledging all that history and from a business point of view it makes a lot of sense to get people to watch all those x. Men movies dark phoenix which was one of the last x. Men movie set in that universe. Do very well the cinema and it just i think people are so invested in the marvel cinematic universe at anything from outside that fields in essential at this point but now i suspect people go to revisit those socks x. Men movies which there are a lot of good ones sobat woods. Some really bad ones but generally worth watching. I would say

Water Justice - Actress Gloria Reuben, Waterkeepers Alliance

"I'd like you to meet gloria reuben. Who was a trustee of the waterkeeper alliance from two thousand seven to two thousand ten and served as an advisor to former vice president. Al gore's environmental organization called the climate reality project and on other natural resources groups as well you will also likely recognize her from her appearances in television series like er and marvel's tv cloak and dagger among others as well as in movies like lincoln and a reasonable doubt. Welcome to green captions radio glorious. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for letting me join you. Joe. oh no problem. It's my pleasure my pleasure so let's start with. What condition is our water supply and today as president biden starts his first term as president. What is the water supply. He is inheriting well. I think we would all agree over these last four years the previous president did pretty much anything that he could to eviscerate our clean out air clean water regulations so it is very exciting last night to to witness our new president president. But i didn't as he signed the papers to rejoin the paris climate agreement and to roll back some of the deregulations that the former president clearly. There's a lot of work to be done but that once. We have obviously a leader in place president in place who believes in science and who listens to scientists and who believes in climate change and listens to the scientists gusta climate change and who obviously is a great advocate for the wellbeing of all americans of all peoples that is definitely a hopeful sign the destruction that happened in the last four years previous to President by being sworn in cannot be changed overnight but Reliance as very proud very excited to be on the front lines of this. Very important fight to have drinkable swimming. Fissionable waters for americans and for people around the globe. As you said. I mean it's extraordinary when you can get two point. Five million miles of waterways being protected from from our local over three hundred and fifty plus waterkeeper groups around globe. That's a huge thing. It's a lot of miles. So i'm really excited to join forces again rejoined forces again with this extra organization and in a leadership role so is the did the rollbacks that the trump administration did did they actually result in more water pollution. I mean we obviously have the flint michigan situation but that was not trump. That was the governor in michigan. Right when you talk about pollution in the waterways that goes very much to industries like fossil fuel industries of course like factory farming like businesses corporations. That are allowed to just kind of dump their way store there By rhonette of of making things of manufacturing into the waterways when there's no regulation The clearly people can just do what they want at their own. Well not have to pay any consequences you know it all comes down to first thing which is reenacting these laws again. Going back in place and then enforce laws are terrific things to have. But if they're not enforced than what's also it's important to remember that one of the things that president biden as well last night was to cancel the keystone pipeline. Which has as many of us know has been an ongoing issue for years now. And if i think about it the former president were elected. That very well may have happened. Now i've been to alberto into the athabasca river. I've seen the destruction that's happened with trying to suck out oil from sand. It's not an easy process. Takes more gallons of water from the athabasca river to make one barrel of oil and that is destruction destroy not just obviously the environment but the first nations people that have lived on that land for generations. So it's a it's a trickle down effect if you will of Polluters of Whether they be industries or or again corporations or even individuals whether or not brought to justice when when when there's no law to protect people that lived in that area then it's a free fall and You know. I was a newly appointed just over two months ago so the lot to catch up on. It's a lot of information that i'm soaking up. And we can't wait to be able to fly again safely obviously in good all corners of the world to to meet in person a lavar extraordinary water keepers are clean water warriors. I want i'm sure i'm sure. So does the waterkeeper alliance have a checklist of things that they want. The biden administration. To do i mean are there. Water infrastructure investments Besides putting back in place the clean water act. i mean. We hope that's happening soon. But maybe you're disappointed. It didn't happen right away. What kinds of investments and specifics are you looking for from president biden. Yes well. I think you know as you mentioned. Clean water act course. Everything can happen in one night. So we're confident that that will be reassigned. Only shocks right. I know but go back to the industry. Portion coal ash coal pollution cola. Hashes is definitely something that needs to be addressed in taken care of again. The factory farming issue is a huge thing. Learn in this country. North carolina again. I've been to north carolina. I've seen those ways. They call the ponds or lagoons. They tried to make these names. Sound like it's a recreational place yet now. These are ponds at are made of animal. Waste that seat into the waterway. So that's definitely something that needs to be handled in terrific water keepers in that region. An area that are that are winning lawsuits against not of these factory farms. I think that You know the overall climate issues that Is a abroad umbrella. You'll and plastics. We we all know again. You know plastics Issue jim global issue for sure so clean water act coal cocoa factory farming. These i think are are three very big tangible things that that can be addressed. Well we can he can pass. He can propose legislation that punishes. And as you say enforcement is critical these industrial polluters. It's you know taking a page out of the erin brockovich book relay right but these things also and i totally support on plastic pollution. To get me started on that one will be here for hours but a lot of these things require congressional approval and even though the democrats biden's party control both the house and the senate it's by d. Tiny itsy-bitsy margin right. So how do you. And i know that president by misspeaking bipartisanship since the very first days of his campaign and did so in his inaugural address etcetera but washington is still gridlock. So what's your outlook for whether for example getting factory farming in any kind of legislation. You know control of it. Is that realistic. Yes i think so for. Sure i mean again. These things take time an in carolina. I just wanted to north carolina. Just specifically in that region aren't bringing they aren't litigating certain cases in terms of factory farming. When it comes to the government The legislation in two to be passed in congress isn't going to be tricky but i am the only way to stay in this to even to say yes to this to stay because this is a long term long time mission is to is to keep positive and to just keep on doing. The things that we know will work again. The positive aspects are yes. We do have a house in the senate. So that's a hopeful thing at you know. We don't know what the future will hold of course but for right now we have the majority so that means that and again you know. We have leaders in place who do not deny the truce and they don't make falsities in order to remain in power. There are those who do that. But you know our president and vice president

Falcon and Winter Soldier Trailer Breakdown

"But you and i are also excited on wants to come for falcon and the winter soldier which had its trailer today and even though it didn't give away too much it did show baron zemo back out and about looking to go ahead and restart his mission or finishes mission as he said it also showed the flag smashers which was an individual in the comics which seems to be now seemingly a group. That's giving falcon winter soldier problems. But the biggest problem between falcon in the winter soldier is themselves getting along and making them more. Like a buddy comedy. So i want to hear your thoughts on the trailer for falcon and the winter soldier. I thought it was kind of funny. How they started out. I mean they're obviously kind of in a therapy session and we know that they're going to have to learn to work together but they've always had the kind of argumentative relationship but they sort of bicker at each other. So i think we're gonna see that throughout the series until maybe hopefully at the end they can work better with each other. I'm super excited to see where the villains go. I think we don't really know that much about what's going on. In terms of the antagonists of the series are seem to be so many different forces at play here so we don't really know if they're all working together or they're just different forces against falcons in the winter soldier. But what i really like seeing from the trailer and we saw this in the last trailer from the disney investor. Day is the action which. I don't see people talking about this. The action scenes. They look like proper marvel movies. And that's really exciting for me to see like falcon flying through canyons and it looks like it looks really good. It looks like disney has spared. No expense as you

The Internet's Calling Out WandaVision For Being Too Boring

"It seems like designing. It seems to me at least at disney has been kind of unconscionable in the response to these first few episodes. They're having like with mandalorian. I feel like we got nothing right like they. They're not showing us previews not giving us interviews with people but every week like there were offered like a new interview with the cast members and like this week like we got clips like that kind of like were a reveal of look. This isn't just going to be the sitcom if you guys are worried about this being a sitcom in your marvel fan this is gonna get more marvel. Keep keep on to this. Like i love the show. I'm not saying anything bad about the show. I feel like All three of us are in the bag here for for that. We're we're people that are supposed to love by also understand that there's probably people that teenagers twenty s. You know even early thirties. that haven't watched old sitcoms. You know didn't watch like i did and are probably like what is going on here like. Do you guys feel the same way that i do that. Like it seems like disney was kind of worried that they might be losing marvel fans with the first few episodes the clip in the sizzle. Reel that they put out thursday morning. It played a little desperate to me. It did i. And i'm usually on board with. I think disney's very smart about marketing. That they do. And kevin feige is always gushing about how wonderful of a job disney does marketing all of marvel studios stuff. But it did play like. They're a little worried. That people aren't on board with the sitcom idea in. Maybe you're worried that that's all that it is. But i also felt like it was redundant because the end of episode three shows you very clearly. I mean the end of episode one pulls back in shows who you know i. I don't know. I splurged from the episode but It pulls back and it does show that somebody else is watching something here that there's a world outside of this episode three makes that very very clear so i i don't know why felt the need to show as much as they did and and maybe i'm just assuming too much. Maybe this was the plan all along that they've already these they have their spots and what they're going to market and show when it's all been laid out well in advance and they're not reacting to the reaction online which is still mostly positive from what i've seen With respect to wanda vision But as of viewer who was already locked in ready to watch the show at midnight. Pacific time thursday night I could've done without that spot especially a couple of the visuals in it. Like the big board with idea of the different people in the town Could've done without that. But yeah i was a little confused. The why they were showing so much and not being not playing things closer to the vest. Yeah i've i've seen like complaints from people and it's usually just the more casual viewers. Who are like. They're probably not paying like tons attention to the marketing And like they're just waiting to see what happens and they want to avoid everything at all costs and i think that they're watching the show and there were like. Wow this is all it is like this is supposed to be a marvel. Show like people are saying that they were bored. And i think a lot of this also comes from people who aren't super familiar with like classic television and they'll understand what they're trying to do by opening the show like this and realized that those the the things in these few episodes make what's happening now that much more impactful and irie And suspenseful and mysterious you know and so the complaints are unwarranted. I the marketing definitely feels reactionary. But at the same time marvel does doing so maybe they assume that this was how they were going to play out the entire time. But hopefully hopefully people stop griping about it because now they're getting marvel side of what they really want

"Welcome to film spotting with the chicago. Tribune's michael phillips. I'm josh larsen a happy new year to you michael to to josh. And how was downtown chicago treating you. This is your first new year in a new place to live this. Yeah it's been about six months since we've been down here but yeah the first official winter. The weather is pretty much the same as as in the chicago suburbs. I'd say in the winter Maybe a little milder down there. A little less wind than there is here. But yeah we're doing we're doing well. Thank you very much for filling in this week. I i'm guessing that adam is off really studying his movie trivia You were with us. Michael last weekend's trivia spotting contests his team. I'm afraid didn't fair too. Well and so i imagine he's. He's out there studying getting ready for our next show. How did your team fair reminding. I've been such as one once. You know what head on so many weeks ago now. And i've never come close since and i have to blame. You know all my teammates. Honestly i you know i. I wanted to stack the deck. So that all my incredible lack of knowledge on the marvel cinematic universe in the basically most of the star wars stuff would be plugged in by some of my cohorts now. Well i've only won once as well and i'm going to credit might teammates for that as as you saw this last week and i can tease adam but i failed spectacularly in the lightning round. I couldn't even pull the title of. It's a wonderful life out of my hat given the clue bedford falls and and of course it's a lightning around so everybody's watching it's live and it was a face plant. I'll i'll just say. I don't know if you've experienced this during trivia spotting but for those answers that are obvious i find. There's like a millisecond window where your brain knows it and if you don't blurt it out that window shots and that's right it's it's honestly no different. "Of things and In addition to youtube. I think i mentioned earlier. In the year. We got a disney plus subscription. Yeah yes. I have been watching a lot of science fiction and the way i end my day. Now as i get my tablet and i stay in bed and either watch film a couple of episodes of something and so far. I've worked my way through the entire marvel film catalog and the first season if the mandalorian and all of star trek discovery i've re watched altered carbon both seasons. I'm really worth what you again. Oh i love dealt carbon. I thought he was great. Board of now zone down. The first season in particular was really good. But i i really. I really like po. And he makes it for me. And then i'm i'm most of the way through agents of shield Yes we've just been watching that then you could always radio. I was very not like i expected it to be a toll. I thought it would be like a big soul forced and like all this trade try and make a series in making the film. But he's not like that. No it's it's very good very good characters and one of the characters says the same as my daughter. So that's nice. This is true. So i'm i'm out to season three and so far i've enjoyed all three seasons and i like the wild west. Give anything anyway. They sort of watching star trek Some friends of ours. Dave and yannick have a podcast t. l. gray hot. I was a stall bowls thing. That's right yes some is serenity bike i have now been on that podcast. Three times Which has been good because it caused me to. Actually go and watch some episodes and pay close attention to things in order to then like do a review of of those episodes so i've i've been moonlighting in fact. I think the latest episode. I was on with them and is out next week or something. Excellent so alan. What have you been doing with your time. I've been decluttering. I've been getting rid of things. I found it very therapeutic to catalog stuff. I think i need anymore. Hold on is the decluttering. Or is it the cataloging this therapeutic here. Yes so. I've been cataloguing some things that i don't think i need anymore but also checking on some things that have been busted like i had a st keisha. We call it for the nintendo sixty four. Dr visa sixty four in sat in a drawer for years literally because the power supply pulped and i opened the power supply and fuse blown because some other component blown and i didn't really want to go down set debugging pow supply. 'cause i'm not that expertise and someone on twitter pointed out that there's a company in hong kong who sell replacement. How supplies for this ten year old device fifteen year old device And so i ordered a power supply. So i'm probably going to sell this on ebay because now now it works and i've tested and he does still work. Now that i've gone new pow supply for it so fixing up a thing that's been signed the drool no actually get any value from that thing until now and it turns out that with a bit so I might get a bit of money for having kept in a draw for fifteen years. But yeah so i've been the the cataloging stuff on finding fascinating as well as a spreadsheet older things that i've been putting on ebay How much you know. I sold it for when it sold. What the paypal fees were how much the ebay fees were kind of stuff. So i can see you know. Have i made any money from these things. And how much of a made wall kind of price point is worth putting something on on ebay. And i've been trying to get hold of. Packaging is low cost but well packaged. and yeah. it's just been just quite enjoyable to sit with some some tape memberships and some bubble wrap and with Wrap something up and down to the post office and see the same woman who always takes my postles again yet again with some wall stuff. Yeah it's just. I found it very therapeutic knowing that there's now gaps in my house where the wills junk or stuff is good because this clearing stuff out please. The mind as well yeah. We've actually been having periodic clear as i'm sure. Any parents will attest to things last that long. When you've got us more child they they need to be refreshed and replaced and actually some of the. It's amazing some of the baby clothes that we bought hold quite a lot of value I mean they're not super fancy what we got but there's certain brands which people really go after they cost a bit more than you might get from the high street shop and therefore if people can get very slightly cheaper than full price they will plus they because the kids on in them for that long last there no walking. And you're not going outside. Yeah so they're not going to get like scuffed up and ruin we've sold you would believe it's new if if we lied about it awesome. The other thing i've been doing is listening to audio books. I remember the. I've got an audible subscription and no they don't sponsor this procast and unlike every other and i decided to take some time away from listening to podcasts. And actually listen. Listen to a book

"So was your first marvel work the deadpool biannual? Yes where we kind of brought back brute force throat. Fors the rain is characters in history. Brandon is like not again, I torture by the whole team with brute force love last year. Well, it's so funny because again, you know, marvel kind of not mandated, but they were like, here's a fun bunch of characters fund to revisit and we update them a little bit. You know, they were a little bit of a rickety little. Yeah. Of like go back in and you know it wasn't a complete tear down. But it was definitely a remodel characters fun, though. It's like oh, great wacky concept. Yeah. Yeah. We reprinted that with the power pachyderms. Ori which is just nuts. Yeah, it is. So fun to me like that has been the fun, but mic nine and getting, I tasked with these marvel books where we don't have to be creating a new time line or are moving forward and kind of go backwards. One of the failed ideas, we had for cosmic ghostwriter, which I still love was, we wanted to we're thinking has to what he's doomed to relive history. He's been bored for years and years and years. You know, Frank is this kind of gruff guy Donnie kind of said to us when he was writing him. He thought of like Bill Burr. What would this character do? And we wanted to make our six issue series like a big night, kind of comic book where it's like he's opened up a restaurant like a Planet, Hollywood themed restaurant where he's still in all these artifacts of marvel history. And, you know, and you would have like you know, that the laser from the dolphin like Anna case professor echo. You know, you'd have all these things that was really fun for us to have him like, and we had doctor doom playing piano. He was the musical act for this place. And so, yeah, we kind of like when it head to head with trying to figure out how we could do that. And that's my one regret that we were not able to do ghostwriters like marvel themed restaurant, which there was I was. Ever went to marvel mania. Yes. So there's like ephemera from marvel mania randomly throughout the office. I have somewhere, I may have put it in my boss's office, a taskmaster framed drawing like it's like a head shot of him, just like with the, the skull mask kinda smiling, but it's just like amazed another piece of art and crops just as head. But the frame is not a regular rectangle. It is crooked for some reason. Like, oh, we're wacky here. That was it idea that there's a time when everyone was making like fem- restaurants. I mean it started off here, New York City with, like their, these ho-. Like there was like a where wolf one and there was a doctor Jekyll mister bars. One Mars one, but the original one that was when I was a kid was here was just at the theme was like old England, and they have where wolves kind of like piped him, but there was no theater show to then Jacqueline Hyde, which was like crazy things are talking to you, then like Planet Hollywood. And. He had a give you. Yeah, it's crazy. And now I almost like marvel the restaurant would be Hugh. I think we could make amazing to the things that you're doing these days are movie podcasts, how did this game eight and unspoiled and, you know, I wanna know what's more fun watching great movies, and discussing on school, or watching movies of varying quality, and goofing on them with or goofing around with them, will you right? Look. So I have two movie podcast, one celebrates the best and once over the best of the worst. And it's a real, it's tricky. There's things that I love about both of them. I think that at the end of watching a great movie from the af I list that we do on, on schooled you feel good..

"It's time for our big talk section, the rain. The big talk is sort of random whatever we wanna talk about. But because you're here we wanna talk about live red carpet premieres. I would love to so funny that you ask. No. Honestly, the premier's are. I mean, they're always super fun because we are live streaming them. And we're on the carpet. But the thing that people don't think always think about is when you're doing a livestream of red carpet for us. We're doing a show for everyone else. They're showing up at a party to celebrate the thing they already made. So they're not there to work. We're there to work. But that makes it more fun because it's like people are crashing in on you hang out when you're like watching the premiere, you know, you're in the middle talking to someone and then they'll see like their friend that they haven't seen since they were filming the thing just like hug each other. And you're like in the middle of this is great. I mean, so I did the marvel studios captain marvel premiere. And it was so funny because our configuration was a little bit different. Normally, you can see the guest walking up toward you. While this time our stage was backwards. So the guest was coming from behind us. And I just felt somebody put their arm around me. And and another one around my co-host. I look over it Samuel L Jackson, which is like a great surprise. I was like, oh, hey, what's up? We're just gonna chill now. Unloved? Yeah. Just killed it in his hat. I remember there for the marvel studios, captain America's civil war premier. You were you were doing your thing. Tomorrow Krinsky was doing her thing. And I was I was there taking behind the scenes video and showing a different version of what everybody else is watching. Well, and that's the thing too. That you don't even think about is before. All of those crazy celebrities are everywhere all over mobbing the carpet. The carpet itself is also just really cool. They build it in like twenty four hours. It happens. Super duper fast. They put up this whole huge said, they roll out the literal carpet, but then they also put a ton of set pieces from herbal studios film. So like for ant man, they had that huge salt shaker. You know in the film. He expands it makes a big while they have a huge salt shaker now. So it's being there on the set. There was the drop ship the creed drop ship that Minerva drives marvel studios, captain marvel on that set, but there's always like a big huge crazy set piece in than some really fun other little things, but for Infinity war, they did a huge tent for the marvel cinematic universe tenth anniversary, and they had costumes and props and sweet cars like just do a car. I still five cars as ING, I am the reason why there's so many security problems. Do wanna give a big shout out to the marvel studios and Disney like live events teams. And even the marvel team here, the moral theme entertainment like everybody who works behind the scenes to put. These together. It's one of those things. Yes, there's thousands of people in any movie production any television production, working comics like all this stuff. And it's those people who you'll never hear about who do such amazing work behind the scenes making it. So the people watching everybody who's listening now doesn't even think about it. Oh, definitely. And I also think that's one of wonderful things about the premier's to is there. So many people who work on these films that are never in front of the camera like just the via thanks crew. And the SF X crews are huge, and they all make that film come to life in such a big way. And what a wonderful way to get to celebrate them. And for them to get to be part of the carpet to do. You know, what number premier this is for you coming up. I was trying to figure it out. I think I think it's at least six or seven I think it might be my lucky seventh. I know there been so many, it's crazy bananas. And you who are you co hosting with main for this one on this livestream? I'm gonna be co..

"We look ahead, and we figure out oh everyone's talking about this character feels this characters elevating or are we going to elevate a character like captain marvel. We know the is coming we make sure we're all in step. And what that does then for a marvel fan with so cool as it feels like it's all connected, it all counts that takes months and months of planning and communication and publishing. And how he gives feedback Bill is like out of all the people I worked with and I've been in the games industry about thirteen years. Now, I've never worked with somebody who gives feedback in a more like fruitful helpful positive direction. So it's been really really great to work with him. Sort of just helps drive, you know, all the work. We do between the different lines of business and marvel and it's especially working on Spiderman game, you know. He helps manage the relationship we have with Sony Pictures as well. So that sort of collaboration comes out of that. So seeing that seeing what we've done with studios film television. All that other stuff has been pretty awesome. Yeah. You just mentioned you have been in the games industry for thirteen years this where does the creation release of marvel Spiderman exclusively for PlayStation four where does that sort of sit in your moments in in your career, man. "This is weird at and I was like this is really good. This is well produced in like learning like how long, you know, working in collaborating with everybody here and seeing how long it takes to make that happen. And then it getting out there and people picking up on it and loving it. That's been a maze. We thought through every line worked on the video. We want to make sure that everything that marvel gains creates every word every image. We don't want anything that's not going to be at a certain level of quality. We always wanted to live up to the standards. So all of our players and fans. They're smart. They get and they appreciate the effort, and they deserve it. So that's why we scrutinize even all the words on Cape song because hey, it's marvel. So we have to do that. Yeah. I remember when you guys told me that Mike Jones VP normal games. He did all the motion capture for Luna snow in that video on. So just absolutely delighted. Got his really good that dancing. So marvel future fight it's been two and a half years somewhere in there for three good before years in may nineteen two big characters to like knew what you were talking. This was considered the all new month. So we introduce let's see new they'll into the game Morgan thing, which is of course, the previously existing marvel villain. But we did a whole new look for her. We introduced white FOX to the game and gave her and own new. We worked very closely with CBS Volsky on that we introduced new uniforms both for Luna snow the drama suit. We wanted more action suit for her. And then we also did a new uniform for Sharon Rogers, captain America, which was universe version of captain America that we had previously introduced and finally same month. We introduced crescent an ISO who is Murphy fights all new original character this year and again worked very hard on. On the powers and the visuals and their connection to the story and Hauer origin is wrapped up in Morgan the face. It's all connected, and I don't think the marvel universe's scenic character like crescent I o yet. And everyone's responding very strongly to her. I mean, you know, who doesn't want a twelve foot tall spirit bear at beckon call. So we feel like these characters are very much part of the marvel universe. One of the cool things that you guys get to do is you work with publishing, but you also work with so many parts of marvel whether it's marvel studios marvel television marvel animation. So, you know, we've had events around more students Black Panther Infinity war men on the wasp moral rising Marvel's cloak and dagger the tenth anniversary of marvel studios where some of the the events that may be of crossed over into puzzle quest kademi, yes, by element, actually, all of those. So when we do movie Tien events or television or animation events we want to embrace the. For example, a lot of new characters are being introduced squirrel, girl inspired win, and MS marvel Kamala Khan, so we're taking those and reinterpreting him in a way that works for each of our games. So yes, when we're doing panther van we may introduce kill monger and Sherry into future fight. But we're doing it in a way that fits within the story that we've been building up with that game for the past three years and behind the scenes because Tim heads up kind of creating all these events across our mobile live games. New characters or new costumes or new locations and settings that are being used in a given fill or for marble rising. For example, a lot of new characters are being introduced squirrel, girl inspired win, and MS marvel Kamala Khan, so we're taking those and reinterpreting him in a way that works for each of our games. Each one has unique art styles. Obviously game design that some are more combat based some are more casual so we need to factor all of that in. But when we approach it, we really want to make sure that we're touching on the court themes of all those events. So yes, when we're doing panther van we may introduce kill monger and Sherry into future fight. But we're doing it in a way that fits within the story that we've been building up with that game for the past three years and behind the scenes because Tim heads up kind of creating all these events across our mobile live games. The hind the scenes it's all about communication. It's all about all the departments sharing with each other. What's on the horizon? We have these big content summit meetings. Here in LA everyone from the different departments comes together. And we give a presentation of what we did for the past six months, and then what's coming on the horizon for the next six months to year. And then we share that information. And we make sure that as a company that we are in sync that we have the right characters in the spotlight..

"The it's not as bad as it. Sounds. My social out of the same. Great. Thanks so much for being here. I talked to truck torn who you may know as one hundred percent soft. He does all those wonderful marvel studios emojis, you find on Twitter, we actually have pins of his art right now, we're going to get into a lot of that his poster for the show was for marvel studios. Guardians of the galaxy volume to dig in now. All right. We've got truck Torrens the man the myth the legend known as one hundred percents off now. That's right. Yeah. Proper introduction. I felt like deserved. I don't remember. We first started talking years ago over just because I liked your art. I think now you you've been doing more of a work pretty heavily for the last. I would say like six seven years. Yeah. About five years six seven years, but forty years before years of marva work. It was like me Stanley in Kirby the big three in the bullpen. Yeah. Smoking one of those big stogies straight. We had we had a good time. I I'm so glad you could be here. But this then how did you first get the working on the marvel stuff while I had done a lot of gallery shows in Los Angeles that are pop culture based. So some of that stuff would involve marvel characters and then also these are characters I grew up with. I mean, I started reading comics from a very young age. The first thing that I remember drying was Spiderman when I got older in a would start drying stuff just for fun aside from work projects, I would draw marvel characters and they're my favorite. And so I just really liked to draw them put them up on Instagram and see if people like them, and so what ended up happening is. I got contacted by marvel studios to do the first round of a mo-. Geez. For civil war marvel studios, captain America's civil war L now on home. Yes. Yes. Exactly. And it's a great film. And so I think we are with captain America in iron, man. And we unloaded the rest of the cast, which you know, there's a hundred million people in that movie. And then from there, we just started doing more and more projects together, whether it was animated gifts or emojis or anything else. Really? I remember around the time of the game. When we gave you a lot of those emojis. We also had large cutouts of the emojis, which was so I think we brought some of those back to the office. And then the stars of the film would come in. And they play with our own ones. It's got to be surreal to see your art used in all these different ways. Yeah. For sure I still have that picture. Chris Evans, holding his big captain America emoji. I mean that was just the thrilling moment because the big fan of him as an actor, and I'm a big fan of him as captain America and to see them interacting without art is really fun. When you say that you started drying Spiderman, and then these characters is it in the. Style that we see your your style. Now. Did you like when I was younger. Yeah. No. I mean when I was when I was very young. It was just kind of like I wanted to be a comic book artist when I was a kid those like my dream. And so I would try to mimic the styles of the artists that I really liked like Marshall vestry and Jim lean stuff like that. And I just wasn't that good at it. And so as I progressed as an artist I started to kind of distill down. I was actually good at and that kind of came down and making these really simple deceptively simple shapes and putting it together and kind of acute way that takes the most identifiable elements of these characters, but makes it simple and cute, and it works, so well, and then with that style, I should do so much detail and big tapestries. Yeah. What is the biggest piece that you've ever put together?.

But you are back now writing marvel really great stories that one of the things that we always get asked to us on Twitter social media. And the podcast is, hey, I have a kid or I know kid, I want them to get into the characters that I love. Where do I start? And I think what you're doing right now is a great starting point. Yeah, marvel superhero adventures is actually aligned wide initiative that involves chapter books, animated shorts, a toy line. And then what I'm doing, which. Are five one shots where it's a Spidey team up with a different character. We did Black Panther doctor, strange, ant man who people are all familiar with from the movies. Then the one that just came out this past Wednesday is MS marvel who a lot of people are familiar with. But a lot of kids might not have been sway also have locked John there because who doesn't love a giant slobbering. And then the next issue, the final, the fifth issue is an inhuman that not a lot of people know of named inferno because we're fighting venom and fire is one of venoms things. But one of the things about inferno is he's not really sure about being able to use his powers to his full potential. And so what we do in each issue mix, sure that we're giving a lesson telling story in the MS marvel when we're fighting, they fight the the serpent society and the chance to introduce a new care. I literally talked about this on Marvel's the polish this week. I was like, I know Jim and this is making him so happy because not only is he writing by he's writing the serpent society, which just having a ball with also writing a brand, new character in this world who lives in New Jersey and named garden snake gardens think is such a good name too. I'd said, just go ahead, make this girl, you know, she's new, not just to the marvel universe, but like she's just moved to New Jersey. And so this one is all about like who you really are inside and if you fall into the wrong crowd, what happens in what happens? Who do you look up to who? Who are some people that you look up to and how do they affect you and what better character for Spidey to have teamed up with on that MS marvel. So it was it's been modified doing that. I did a lot done a lot of the junior novelization 's for marvel films, and that's how the editor who was in charge of this new me and I got a call out of the blue and they do you want to do this. And I mean, I'm like, yeah, because I won't kids reading comics to now, so it's really important. Absolutely. Yeah. Also in your time in marvel you are able to bridge the gap between comics and soap operas and I actually, we had a conversation with a wrestler today. "Amazing to me today and the my love for marvel and to be here today playing this four player was just a complete dream. So yeah. So obviously you guys have done a ton of stuff in games, different places, different companies. What attracted you to VR particular as you know, how do you even tell you? Is it a platform format? How do you describe it in that? I usually talk about it as a medium. That's kind of what I think of it. As you know, it is a new way of bringing kind of classic forms of entertainment to new medium because you can't do them really the same way you did before you can't do to de non VR film in VR just doesn't work. So VR was a guy had worked with electronic. Arts had joined Oculus and he said, come on down, you should check this out of, I don't know about this Biard thing. I'm really happy with where I am. He's like, just try the demo and the second I put it on and I saw it and I was like, oh, this is the thing. This is real. This is legit. And so I I signed up and I've been there for a little over four years now and in my previous life at electric cars had come across since I worked in the partners, the publishing wing, and they had done a game with us and we had a great experience working with them. And after I joined Oculus, someone reached out and said, hey, you know these guys, it's ARU are interested in VR. Would you mind bringing them over showing the the demo and stuff like that? And so we brought Glenn and Matt and a few folks and show them the demo, and I think you guys have similar action. Yeah. I mean, for me it's just I love games. You know, you look at like stuff from like the eight bit Ness, and the snap is to D. And now you have like three D. And then you can rotate the camera. I see. For me as a game developer. Like the next step, I think we're only at the beginning of of what you're going to see, you know, in the next five, ten years and you know creatively, I just think there's so much potential in the medium. I mean, look at today, like we play this those heroes. We went to all those locations like there's nowhere else they're going to be able to do that. So I'm super excited to see where it goes. We talk about eighteen characters in the game. There's fill ins. There's amazing conic locations. What was the process of figuring out, okay. Here are the characters, hey, we wanna use this family, this family, these characters. What was that process like? Working with marvel. I mean, it was a group process. You know, with locations, characters bosses and it's really, you know, not only the family, but the abilities you wanna make sure things are balanced. You wanna make sure the environment's really contrasting, you know, you have yoting high, which isn't is and then you got half world which has a lot of plant life. And then you have, you know car where it's more like desert-like. But you know, you wanna have a good balance of flying. Characters ranged characters and just a really good balance across the board. Yeah. So kind of similar to what Matt said, it very much was not just, okay. What are the most iconic characters that we think people will want to be feel like they really are body game, but what is also interesting to do in VR? What are those interactions look like? We talked about some of those characters that have grown in popularity from the Netflix series, whether it's daredevil, Luke cage, Jessica Jones or iron fist, and we'd love those characters. I love those shows so I would love to have them in the game. But then I'm like, oh, Jessica Jones of Luke cage. And the hulk, frankly, would all kind of feel very similar terms played. So we didn't want to repeat characters powers too much as much as we think people would love to be those character. We also want each of the eighteen to feel like whole different experience as much as we could with the stories or. Ideas, classic marvel things that marvel brought to the to the four because I just like I can hear Bill Roseman in my head, get any of that..

"We are dropping on new episode for yet, right here really special one. A surrounding marvel powers United VR. I had the pleasure of going out to a really cool behind the scenes event a special day of playing the game, seeing it sort of come together and talking to a couple of cool folks. So later this episode, you're gonna have an interview with Matt Kramer who is the creative director for marvel powers United VR as well. Steve Arnold who's head of Oculus studios just talking to them about their history with marvel and working on the project and all this stuff. It was fun to chat with him about. You know, developing this mega game, yes. But you also just mentioned that you got to play this game? I did. Hey, lucky duck. You wanna tell us a little bit about this. It's super cool. Like there's this cinematic that opens up the game, but I got to play the opening level and it's such a neat exploration of marvel. It felt like you are the hero. You're in marvel comics that like you're one character and you're fighting these all kinds of villains and stuff like this, and they switch to another character as one moment where you have to blast things with hawkeye's bow and arrow, and all these spider swing bide. Oh, there's the hulk and like the battle just rages all around you. It's kind of wild and immersive in just how real it felt. Unlike any other video game of played. That's why I'm actually interested in flying this and I have no video game skills whatsoever. But the idea of being able to feel like. As big as the hulk or a small rocket raccoon sounds really, really Tope to me over and has amazing muscles right now. It was also a cool because you could do four player co op. So I was actually doing four player co op with Matt and Steve and another dude. And so we were teaming up and we were playing around, and so it was knee. I'm not a huge multiplayer gamer normally, but we were there. We were communicating. We all you know, you have the Oculus rift headset on, and you start talking to each other and you are like, hey, magneto over here, I need help is a thing that you would say, and it's super cool Magna's over there. Yeah, magneto in your head kick my butt. He was great, but you can play with your friends and you build this team. I got to play a lot as captain marvel. 'cause she's awesome. Just like thrown up them. Guns was super neat out. Sounds like such glass, Jamie, you will love this before you get into a match your sort of figuring out which one do blah, blah. You're in the alpha flight orbital space station, but Bach there and lock. Joe is in the middle of the room and he's you're sort of snoozing hanging out. So you what? I did pretty much every time I would pick my character and start walking around and they would just go over and screech lock jaws head. It doesn't do anything, but it made me feel good with transport you and you will transport you where you gotta go. Thanks, be so happy. I got you. You have no idea. It's so so cool. It's not just the scratching you actually get to experience the power of lock Gye and you get experience all the powers of the characters. Yeah, it's locked. It's great. You can get like pickups for him and make him feel better and happier, and it's snacks. Yeah. Well, he's a very good boy. You can check out on the Oculus rift Facebook.
