"To pick up the story, my brother and And I headed from Ohio back home. It was about a four hour flight for us. I think we made to fuel stops because again with a new airplane I'm always conservative on fuel, and they don't have a lot of range anyway. In each fuel stop. We looked at over. We check the oil fuel consumption. You know it was a beautiful airplane had no issues at all with it nothing to be nervous about landing or taking off, so I remember now you know. The the date is winding down and we did our last fuel stop and we finally got home and. This is where the story actually begins and an innocent way to start a story that potentially had such a tragic outcome. We were probably at six thousand feet and headed downhill. I think an impulsive decision, but not necessarily a bad one I said to my brother, I said hey were home. Let's twist this airplane up a little bit. That was my exact words. And what I meant by that is. Let's do a loop and enroll and <hes> and Lynch. So we did a few just did a loop did a role I think I did a Cuban you know and we weren't really trying to maintain any altitude, so we're just letting the airplanes sort of we're doing some aerobatics, but we're letting our altitude descend as well because eventually we WANNA get down, so we're doing that in. Thank goodness. No one was on the ground, so we were not showing off for anybody. We weren't doing an air show for. For Anybody? We were just two guys feeling out a new airplane. I think one of my lessons learned on. This is I'm glad that at least the experience over wanting to show off I. Think if somebody was on the ground and they're like Oh mark with the new airplane. There might have been that inspiration I. Guess, you would say to do things a little bit lower to show off, but regardless my brother and I were not doing that. So as we were getting lower, we were down to probably twenty. I. I actually spoke with him this morning and he doesn't even like to talk about this story, but I think we're probably about twenty eight hundred feet so again. It's nothing unsafe in what I thought. My experience level was so I pull up to do my last maneuver which was going to be a vertical role to a hammerhead, and then we were going to enter the down with so I pull up. I do the vertical role and. And you know just look outside and I'm where I need to be kicked. The rudder and I got a little slow on the top. I mean new airplane right, so we got a little slow on the top, and when I kick the rudder and fed in the L., Ron, instead of just the nose, pointing back at the ground, left-wing Tunder, and we basically just inverted so mark. Can I stop you there and help the audience? Understand your in a vertical climb. You're going to go into a hammerhead. A hammerhead is where you go up and you almost front it out air speed, and you basically cartwheel right on the same plane and come right back down the same line. You went up exactly I think for a guy like me. You think it's almost one of the easiest and safest maneuvers. It's not a big deal, but at the top of the hammerhead you're actually putting the airplane and cross control. You're picking a you know a left rudder. And then you're feeding in a little bit of right Aileron just to make as you would describe the Cartwheel, so the heavy end will fall, and basically you're just pointed straight downhill on the same plane that you went up. Okay Great. That's what you're intending to do, but you get halfway through that and your left wing. You said Tux under and next thing you know you're inverted. We are inverted and you know I screwed that one cold the throttle back to idle. There really wasn't a need. We weren't spinning, so there was no spin correction to make at this time, it was just. Typically what I expected I. pull the throttle to idol you. Wait a half a second neutralize the controls in the heavy endel fall. The nose will be pointed at the ground. You're building airspeed and away you go when I did that and I neutralize the controls. The airplane went into a spin so there I was in an inverted flat spin in the Christian Eagle and developed fairly quickly. We did a a half a turn almost instantly. And again I didn't panic but I was like <hes>, and so I actually did nothing no correction. No nothing because my expectation was let the airplane just sort itself out. Keep everything in neutral and full of Fire Away Yeah and you aerobatic pilots, or especially good at this kind of thing where you're frequently, find yourself an unusual attitudes. You don't always execute them maneuver correctly. They're hard to do so. You know you're out practicing and you don't. Don't and when you find yourself in an attitude that you weren't expecting. You gotta take. A deep breath can figure it out. Neutralize controls as a typical first step, but so at this point in this event. You're not really alarmed. You're Kinda surprised. It sounds like mom wouldn't expecting that, but you weren't really alarmed. Is that an accurate picture of where your head? Was this point exactly a hundred percent? You know no panic. No, even concern yes.

If you're an american you've ever ever had a conversation with someone from another country about the weather. You've probably been a little confused when he or she said the afternoon. Temperature is a nice twenty one degrees to to you that might sound like a chilly winter day but to them. It's a pleasantly warm springtime temperature. That's because virtually every other country throughout the world uses the celsius temperature scale part of the metric system which denotes the temperature at which water freezes as zero degrees and the temperature at which boils as one hundred degrees but the u._s. u._s. And a few other holdouts the cayman islands the bahamas believes in palo clinging to the fahrenheit scale in which water freezes at thirty two degrees and boils at two hundred and twelve twelve that means that the twenty one degrees celsius temperature that we previously mentioned is the equivalent of a balmy seventy degrees fahrenheit in the united states. The persistence of fahrenheit is one of those puzzling american idiosyncrasies like how the u._s. uses the word soccer to describe what the rest of the planet calls football so why is it that the u._s. Us uses a different temperature scale and why doesn't it switch to be consistent with the rest of the world. There doesn't seem to be a logical answer except perhaps inertia americans generally. I don't really seem to distrust the metric system. A twenty fifteen poll found that just twenty one percent of the public favoured converting to metric measures while sixty four percent were opposed it might make more sense of fahrenheit was old school in celsius with some modern upstart a sort of the new coq of temperature but in reality they were created only about two decades apart part fahrenheit was created by its namesake. A german scientist named daniel gabriel fahrenheit who in the early seventeen hundreds was the first known person design alcohol and mercury thermometers that we're both precise and consistent so that any of his instruments would register the same temperature reading in a given place at a given moment thanks to his working skill in managing glass when fahrenheit started out the key thing he was interested in was coming up with the same temperature reading all the time not comparing temperatures of different things or different times of day but when he presented a paper on his system for measuring temperature to the royal society of london in seventeen twenty four he apparently realized that he had come up with the standard temperature scale as well. We spoke with don hilfiger a research meteorologist to colorado state university's cooperative institute for research in the atmosphere and and also president of the u._s. Metric association a group that advocates conversion to the metric system he explained basically the fahrenheit scale was devised a zero as the coldest oldest temperature for a mix of ice and salt water and the upper end was thought to be body temperature approximately ninety six degrees fahrenheit making a scale that could be progressively divided by two do this resulted in the freezing melting temperature being thirty two degrees fahrenheit not very useful number. The boiling temperature for water was then set at two twelve again not not a very useful number the temperature's one hundred and eighty degrees apart again a multiple of two nevertheless the system apparently sounded pretty good to officials officials of the british empire who adopted fahrenheit as their standard temperature scale which is how eventually became established in the american colonies. Well meanwhile though in seventeen forty forty two a swedish astronomer named anders celsius came up with a less unwieldy system based on multiples of ten in which there was precisely a one hundred degree difference between the freezing and boiling temperatures of water at sea level the neat one hundred degrees symmetry of the celsius scale made it a natural fit for the metric system which was formerly developed by the french in the late seventeen eighteen hundreds but the english speaking world nevertheless clung stubbornly to its preference for awkward units such as the pound in the inch and fahrenheit went along for the ride but finally in nineteen sixty one the u._k. Met office then called the u._k. Meteorological office switched teasing celsius to describe temperatures in weather forecasts in order to be consistent with other european countries. Most of the rest of the world soon followed suit with the notable exception of the u._s. Or the national weather service still publishes temperature data atta in fahrenheit. Even though its own staff long ago switched celsius hilter explained the n._w._s. Catering to the public by reporting in degrees fahrenheit whereas whereas much of their operations such as forecast models used degrees celsius and automated weather observations the temperatures recorded in celsius as well should we choose to metric chicken weather reports the fahrenheit layer. That's now added for the u._s. Public could be removed. We also spoke via email with jay hendrix who heads the u._s. National institute standards and technologies thermodynamic meteorology group he points out that the fahrenheit scale does have one significant advantage quote. It has more degrees over the range range of ambient temperatures that are typical for most people. This means that there's a finer grain temperature difference between seventy degrees fahrenheit and seventy one degrees fahrenheit then there is between twenty one degrees celsius twenty two degrees celsius since a human can tell the difference of one degree fahrenheit. This scale is more precise for the human experience on the other hand though the advantage goes away. If a fractional temperature in celsius used hendrix explained for example the equivalent celsius temperature for seventy and seventy ninety one fahrenheit are equivalent to twenty one point one and twenty one point seven degrees celsius. Lauren Vogel von here, pregnancy and motherhood are two of the most challenging experiences life can throw at a person, and while neither is ever easy, you need complications. Could make the inherently tough situations exponentially tougher case in point a twenty nine year old woman in Austria, who developed a super rare case of topic breast tissue, the caused her to lactate from an unexpected area. Her vulva confused. It's safe to assume the woman experiencing, it was to it all started soon after she gave birth to her second child, a severe pain developed in the right side of her vulva, which doctors assumed was related to the sutures should received after the birth. They figured her pain, and excessive swelling do to an abscess, but there was another odd symptom that didn't quite line up with their theory, a milky white fluid was being released from the area. It turns out the woman had experienced similar symptoms after the birth of her first child. And when doctors performed an ultrasound, the answer became clear, there was. Tissue growing on her vulva, believe it or not. This is a real condition that can happen to anyone, albeit, it doesn't happen. Very often topic breast tissue, also known as a sensory breast tissue is breast tissue that develops anywhere outside the breasts and can be found about six percent of the population ectopic simply means occurring in an abnormal place, or position, according to a report published in the journal, obstetrics gynecology, which detailed the case of the woman mentioned above, quote topic, breast tissue, defined as memory glands located outside of the breast arises from remnants of the embryonic milk line or memory ridge. Let's break that down all memos including humans develop a mandatory ridge as embryos. This is the area where nipples form and wear mammary glands and breast tissue develop during puberty for some surprisingly, though, breast tissue, and nipples can actually develop anywhere along the milk line, which runs from the armpits to the groin on both sides of the body, if you've ever heard of someone having a third nipple like. Chandler. Bing's not been on the show friends at, at breast tissue is the cause this sort of situation is rare but it happens, and it's not often even discovered until problems arise like in the case of the Austrian mom in her case, the swelling and pain was result of a condition called galactic stasis, which means milk backs up causes pain. It turns out the women's stitches were covering an expiratory duct. So the milk really had nowhere to go once doctors removed, the sutures her paint, immediately went away and the swelling and milk discharged from the vulva gradually diminished. Over the next two weeks. She's been able to breastfeed normally for the time being, but doctors say they may have to consider removing the tissue in the future while there's no standard treatment required for asymmetric topic breast tissue. It is possible for it to become cancerous, so surveillance. Individual removal may be necessary. The moral of the story, get to know, the potential weirdnesses of the human body and don't be afraid to raise concerns with your doctor, if any of that potential is realized. Bart Starr, QB who led Packers to greatness, dies at 85

"Green Bay Packers fans in the Saint Louis area in throughout the world, mourning the loss of Bart Starr America in the morning. Correspondent Jan Johnson. Looks back on the life and accomplishments of the legendary quarterback until Brett farve came along Bart. Starr was known as the best player the Green Bay Packers ever seen when his number fifteen jersey was retired in nineteen seventy three. He was just the third player to be so honored for years later, he was inducted into the pro football hall of fame in the sixties when the Packers were pretty much on stoppable Bart Starr was the one who helped coach, Vince Lombardi achieve equally legendary status, always remember our first meeting with him was dynamite, and I called my wife Terry. And I said, Honey, we're going to begin to win. That's all I said to her. Honey? We're going to again to win he wants credited. Lombardi was showing him that by working hard and using his mind he could overcome any weakness and become one of the best in twenty fourteen just before he was sidelined by strokes and heart failure star told inside the huddle Lombardi had a gift you could sense, an outstanding teacher and builder that he was. And that's exactly what we were. He just brought us right up quickly. But it might never been except for another coach who helped the future MVP for two Super Bowls break. Into the NFL. How is injured my final two years of college. So I didn't have much resume. And if it hadn't been for the basketball coach at the university of Alabama where I went to school, who knew the director of player personnel here. I would never have been taken about a Packers wasn't until seventeenth round Packers president, Mark Murphy says star was a champion on and off the field. Someone who appeared them is class and was beloved by generations. He was a clutch player who led his team to five NFL titles capable of filling lambofield field with electricity when he visit for many decades after he left the gridiron. "No luck getting either tried. Both tried on both. But I think that to me the better story is that cross section of everybody involved to figure out the answer. That question just it's what happened and those are the two people that just keep coming up CEO. There is Mark Murphy. I think he if I'm wrong. He's a Harvard guy. He's a he's a highly educated guy. Very smart played for. I remember him as a player, actually. And he kinda runs the Packers. So he had to make a choice here. I mean, he had to make a choice not going to fire Aaron Rogers. So he fires the code. There's there's a moment in here. And I think this is great where he went to Aaron when he when he announced the new coach, and he said, hey with Matla Fluor don't be the problem. Don't be the problem when you believe Murphy could be five years ago, started realizing Aaron was difficult. You know, it's interesting Colin is when Mark Murphy became the president of the Packers. I mean, remember that time Brett farve is trying to take his job. Heck, and it's Mark Murphy, Mike McCarthy. Ted Thompson standing by Aaron Rodgers saying this is our guy when everybody is telling Mark Murphy, what are you doing? I mean Bradford just took him to the NFC championship game your third ten three. He was unbelievable instead by Rogers. I think he really wanted to be a president who wasn't involved, you know, extremely approachable guy. One of the vices team presidents that you'd you'd meet a western New Yorker. And I think that over time he just wanted. Ted Thompson to run the Roma's show run the football team. And it was on Ted Thompson, really he he never saw the forest from the trees, at least, that's the my reporting took took me a lot of a lot of people believe that he was so involved with the scouting so involved with the pro days. The draft building drafting develop. He did he never saw this big picture problem that Mike McCarthy in Rogers really couldn't work together. And that shouldn't have lasted a decade. Plus. Yeah. So he never stepped in. Now any health had a factor to play as well. I mean, I heard that speech was slurred. I was moving very slowly was falling asleep in meetings or people around to Thomson that really feel like Mark Murphy should have stepped in. We'll guess what? A Mark Murphy finally did step in. Yeah. Basically fired and quotes Ted Thompson, and then stepped in and split Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy long overdue. I think it's a good thing. Remember the fans all the team agree bait? That's the reason. There's even football in Green Bay. It's a unique set of it's one of the best stories in sports. But sometimes you need an owner to step in both the fist slam the table and make big decisions in so many words and his Mark Murphy way, he did that by the way, he went to Colgate and Harvard. He was also the AD at northwestern. He has a lot of grief from Georgetown. Remember, it was a very good player for the Washington Redskins. Highly educated. Just just a super smart guy who got stuck in the middle of this thing and had to make a decision. I think he you know, he made the right decision with Thomson ethnic. He made the right decision when you you know, years ago, I said, I eight years ago. I started saying this on the air. And I got a lot of pushback saying, you know, Ahrends doesn't connect with players in the sideline. There's a lot of I rolling, and I don't love it. When I when I read your story tighter. And he talked about freezing certain receivers freezing out receivers and go into devante atoms and not the young guys in developing them. That is really remarkable that stuff. I it's hard to get my brain wrapped around that. I don't think that didn't happen for years that was like this year it had gotten so ugly this year, right? Like that's not a trend of Aaron. That's just like a ping matching the last six games. Yeah..

And I was I remember getting off the air that Dan thinking, am I missing something? I'm watching him. I'm hearing in my, but I always trust my eyes. And I always trust my sources, and I stayed. On him. And it so amazing because the last six months, it's all coming out. It's all coming out. No more. No more. You hate a take your cheese head off. It's the reality that article yesterday. I thought it overwhelmingly clobbered Mike McCarthy because it unveiled new information on Mike McCarthy. It was very well done article very well source. Lot of quotes not all nonsense. Aaron Rodgers I mostly knew it. So it didn't it didn't strike me. As new information. This is what I felt about Aaron for years. He's aloof. He's not a great leader. He needs the girl up, he's overly petty. But there is a moment in this article. Because this story broke ten minutes before our show yesterday. So I consume the article speed reading, and I'm missed one nugget of this article. And I think it's incredibly damning for Aaron Rodgers Tyler done reports that Mark Murphy, who's the CEO of the pack. He's a Harvard guy marks played for the Redskins for years. Mark Murphy's, super smart guy. Really really one of the smarter guys at runs any team in the NFL that he called Aaron Rodgers after they hired Matt leflore? And he said don't be the problem, and he repeated at to Aaron Rodgers don't be the problem. Murphy. It says is tired of the diva stuff relating to Rogers. Vokes his own family's taken shots at him. Grow up own it. Young sportscasters trust your eyes and trust your sources don't back down. I was right on Tibo. That's not starting quarterback. And Aaron Rodgers never been more right in anything. When I read that yesterday after I got up to show don't be the problem. Okay. Okay. By the way, the article continues. Here's an important non development regarding the twelve hours or so since the report the Packers have said nothing at all in response to various claims and contentions that cast Aaron in a not so favorable light their worn out by him worn out by him. The story continue says Ryan grant, former Packer errands, always had a chip on his shoulder with Mike. This is incredible. Since two thousand five. Fourteen years because Aaron was mad that Mike passed on him when he was with that I nurse. It took Alex Smith and Ahrends from no Cal. You're still holding that garage. What? So you can't deny it anymore. You can't deny it. Put the cheese. Head down for five minutes. Be a grownup. K takeoff put them up pom poms down and do a better job. If you live in Green Bay of actually reporting on a team and not supporting it, not not routing, but reporting this stuff, it you can't deny it anymore. You can't listen one of the greatest attribute of Tom Brady and for years and years Brady and Aaron Rodgers were compared in Iowa said, they're not even the same personality errands, much, more Big Ben much, more passive aggressive, much, more heavy in a locker room. But one of the great qualities of Brady is that he makes really bad place. He's had picked sixes and Super Bowls. Tom makes big mistakes. He doesn't have the arm strength or the ability to escape things..

"Be credible. Make sure they trust you and make sure you show that you're competent and then players will follow you met goes in there. And all of a sudden he's telling him stuff, and it's not true. He starts. That a team or from a competency standpoint players go that calls not gonna work that plays not gonna work. Right. And you're done it doesn't matter. Anyway. So he knows that. And hopefully, Mark Murphy knew that when he selected simple as that. I talked about this all day. Earn Rogers knows more about the quarterback position than most had head coaches in the NFL. I would say as a person. Let's keep going. Jeff jelly with the last word. Everybody rogers. Sounds good. Sounds bad. Steelers starting Cornerbacks Joe Haden and Steven Nelson have expressed both excitement to matchup OB J twice a year. This according to TMZ sports Hayden said, I can't wait, man. You've got to go against the best to be the best to Nelson said. I welcome the challenge. Twice a year all year. Gentlemen. Sounds good. Sounds bad. Lewis will start with you on the end as my man. Ryan Clark says sounds good. Sounds confident. All right. Well, when you're line up. Yeah. Look, of course, look all players want to face off against the best in Odell is one of the best. He has a lot. He wants to prove go figure that go figure guy of his stature as far as what he's accomplished already in. The NFL has a lot to prove you're going to get the very best that to him because he has something to prove you get the very best out of him. Because look at the people that are around him who also gonna want to raise their game inherently because now they want to see how they stack up to ODA Beckham junior who's running routes right next to how Baker Mayfield wants to put it all it's all good. "Mark Murphy, chairman of the board and also the general manager the team Brian Gouda Kunst who were they were heading this search they got onto Matla for late in this process. I thought they they would have gone down the road a little more with Josh mcdaniels of the patriots. But they didn't and Matt leflore obviously gets the the the Shanahan McVeigh pedigree. He's a different personality type. He's not as bubbly in his outgoing. As Sean McVeigh. But I think what the Green Bay Packers really liked about him is the promise that they felt he showed in giving the offense a little bit more flare a little bit more imagination. That is what Aaron Rodgers wanted. Let's go to Bruce Arians and Tampa Bay in my opinion. This is about the last great hope for a four year quarterback in Tampa, the former number one pick in the draft. Jameis Winston it is time. I believe the bucks think to show some tough love to Jameis Winston. And I'm not talking about anything off the field. I'm talking about on the field too many times. Jameis Winston showed some of the same errors that he made early on in Tampa. And I think they feel that area NHS who in his first year as an assistant coach in football worked for bear Bryant at Alabama believe the the bucks believed that area. Can be the sort of tough love guys likely going to bring with them his offense coordinator Byron left, which in the interesting thing about that little mentorship. Look at Byran left, which he is a big tough kind of sturdy quarterback the exact same sort of body type as Jameis Winston is. And I think that areas believes that he'll be able to be kind of of mentor that Jameis Winston needs scored Arizona cliff Kingsbury, this is all about the AirAsia cardinals going all in on what they believe is a quarterback whisper who's been praised by Patrick Mahomes who played for cliff Kingsbury by Baker Mayfield. Even by Tom Brady who thinks that Kingsbury is a very good tactician and mechanics guy for the quarterback position. This is a hugely risky pick. He was an. Under five hundred coach at Texas Tech who was fired this year. And so this is a gigantic risky pick by the AirAsia cardinals. And they have to hope that, you know, obviously, it's so many teams with young quarterbacks now with Josh Rosen in Arizona, they have to hope that cliff kings Mary's work with Josh Rosen will make him able to carry this team into prominence once again. So let's go over the the the teams that still have openings. Okay, Denver as widely reported on Tuesday that they have come down to one of two guys Vic Fangio the defensive coordinator, Chicago Bears and Mike munch check the highly highly respected ofensive line coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. And obviously former head coach at Tennessee. I think. What is really interesting? If you go back to the end of the season. John Elway GM of the Broncos basically said whoever we hire is a head coach is going to be great on one side of the ball. He's going to be great at one thing. And we're gonna have one of the best coaches the league at that thing. I'm not sure that's the smartest way to look at it. But that's the way Elway looked at it. And so I think what Denver if I'm if I'm alway- I'm looking at Vic Fangio, and I'm saying, here's a guy you every single year every year when he coaches a defense, he is got a smart scheme. He makes players play a little bit better than they are. He is absolutely one hundred percent ego. Egoists he's not gonna win the press conference, my gut if it were my job to offer as much as I like, Mike munch check. You know, who just like Elway is fifty eight years old. I think they came out the same year in the draft. They'd be the only GM head coach hall of fame player combination. I think ever in the NFL. So that makes some sense. But I don't know to me. It's it would be very hard for me. If I were Elway to turn down on opportunity get Finn GIO. But will see it in Cincinnati. I think this comes down to Vance Joseph the former coach of the Broncos or Hugh Jackson, the former coach of the Browns. I guess I would probably lean toward Vance Joseph. And I think that the most interesting part of this thing is that you say will. Jeez..

"Broke into a nervous sweat there. For a second. I was looking around for my cheat sheet for the Packers. I'm like well somebody game game. There's no game. At least not for the Packers done for the year that was ugly on Sunday. Hoping it was on. Okay. Yeah. That's the way it was. But it was just background noise. Brian and for Doug Russell if they were playing to keep Joe Philbin javelin Sunday. They didn't do a very good job. Certainly not a good look to go out with a thirty one to nothing shutout. If you're Joe Philbin. We're going to hear from him in a couple of minutes when we talk about the Packers head coaching search, and whether or not he truly still is a legitimate candidate. I think part of the rationale for why Mike McCarthy we got too many. Mark Murphy, Mike McCarthy, partly rationale for why Mike McCarthy was fired when he was was to give Joe Philbin. This four or five week window to try and win the job and make it easy on Mark Murphy, and Brian this decision. They certainly have not had an easy decision or an easy way to go about it. Now the way that the last four weeks of the season one. Yeah. And I mean to a person it seems everybody in Green Bay from the cleaning staff to the players on the roster at love Joe Philbin. They did is first tour duty when he was in Green Bay is an assistant and. You know, you don't hear a bad word, but the guy, but the bottom line is this is not a good football team. No, it's not and he would joke that one would be too many cooks in the kitchen response to who the next head coach might be where if Mark Murphy likes the candidate Brian candidate Aaron Rodgers Lexa candidate. And none of those candidates the same guy. Joe Philbin kind of appeases all parties at least a little bit. So I do still think he's in the mix. But they've got problems when it comes to building this roster back to a championship level. It's more than just a head coaching change. And it just fell from the very beginning of the season. Unfortunately, after those first couple of games, this was not going to be our year end. Once the quarterback went off on the game plan after that shootout win over buffalo. That was the end of the relationship with Mike McCarthy. And but you gotta go back to twenty fifteen when they started out six, and then they lost in Denver, and they have not been the same team since there about five hundred overall last season you could write off to Aaron Rodgers injury. But really take that one out later from that. This is not been a championship quality team much less a playoff contending team has not been the same team. But there are some exciting candidates coming through the hopper for the Green Bay Packers. We'll talk about a couple of them coming up in sports in for Doug. He escorts next. It's seven thirteen at WTMJ sports. Sponsored by holiday automotive highway twenty three and funded holiday automotive. It's worth the.

"Chris Mortenson will be with us in a moment. But Joshua Peterson need you to know something on Twitter. He says that the Pat defense is the one that could not overcome in quote marks. Nick foles Brady, he'll have you know, had a Super Bowl record for yards and scored more points than any losing team ever. Also, another dude writes in that I'm crazy for all of my Aaron Donald takes and he just screams Reggie White. So I we are we are really doing some hair-splitting. Okay. I know we're doing some Harris playing but will bring in thority Deanna an arbiter who knows more than we do. So Chris Mortensen with us on ESPN radio. Thank you for joining us more. You've been with us since we started. And we've always been found of you and your work. I'm curious Aaron Donald have you seen anything like that before you've covered the league for a long time being able to do that better than Warren Sapp is not something I thought I'd see. And you're talking about a guy on the interior bird line and somebody who is under size by the so-called metrics teams look for. I mean. Yeah. Yeah. Listen, Reggie White create a lot of fright for a center when he went from outside lined up over over you at right on top you. Yeah. I think he did. But we always have heard what do we always hurt for Bax eight pressure from where from within when the pocket collapses when there's no pocket. There's no way to work. So he disrupts all that. And I would say that he's doing it as well as Warren Sapp did it and and and historically with the with the best of them is the best player in the league more. I won't say that I leave that experts. Like, he's okay. Like, you the dirty demon of debate and dominate Foxworth. What did you make more of the way that Mike McCarthy was fired? Well, I mean, I was surprised by the timing of it. I do believe Mark Murphy the CEO and president of the Packers. Probably speaking the truth when he said, it's it had run at scores. So why not now we get started on our process? I will say this was a dynamic in play that may or may not have factored into this. Which goes to the January restructuring the Packers for an office was the general manager always had control over hiring firing the coach Mark Murphy became that guy. And that's in part and parcel to do too Mike McCarthy not wanting Murphy's GM of choice Baghdad Russ ball. So they so it felt a little bit like Murphy three events in terms of the timing of it. But it always felt like there was going to be a change. If it hit the space. Can you explain to me, and I don't know whether these. Things matter. I don't know if there is a good or right way to fire someone who has won you a championship. But can you explain to me how rare it might be to blindside a coach after a loss at home and to tell him this before he's had time to shower and to release it as news before he's had any time to sort of process. What just happened to like, I don't how how rare is all of that. I listen to the level of respect in this league, regardless of whether everyb- you agree that it was time for my Marci to go or going to have an end the season. I think that considering he'd been there thirteen years and gone to the playoffs nine times and one Super Bowl that you would sit there and say, okay, we're not gonna do this right now. But maybe maybe do the next day. At least Lau Mike chance to address the team. I mean, we criticised coaches in the past who voted the team and didn't say you'll speak to him Bobby between. Oh, came in comes to mind where you know. You've got a Ford him to courtesy..

"And then having a young guy a play caller. I don't really know. You know, what's best? We know that the offense. But we don't know believe that the offense had grown a little bit stale. I think maybe not as terrible as some people have state. It's been a little bit overstated. But. Obviously they would benefit from a fresh injection. I think of offenses thinking does that have to be at the head coach position though. No, I think we are we being everybody. We are all collectively person of the moment. Right. Like how a lot of our minds operate. And so right now the two best recent head coaching hires. The people are trying to emulate going forward or Sean McVay as you alluded to and I would say Nagy with the bears and the bears have obviously escalated dramatically ofensive interactive offense production this year their fifth in scoring top five in scoring on offense. And I wanna say top five in terms of scoring on defense as well. So put the it's a really balanced effort there tocado. So it's not merely. Like, hey, you hire really great offense of minus your head coach, and you turn things around for media success. Because if you look at other teams that have made defensive coaching hires does not preclude you from becoming really good on offense that we have to go few years further back. But like, for example, I think about it Lanta they're having their massive struggles this year, but the falcons obviously had a Super Bowl like Perm Lii in their grasp until they did. But you know, I point my point to the falcons would have won that game or should have won that game because of their often, and what we learned from that head coach hire of Dan Quinn defensive minded coach that like you did a great job of funding offense for mater. Invent Kyle Shanahan to operate the ship from there going forward. So I don't know when we got to the idea that the only way the league. The only coaches illegal identifying right now are young offense of mind. I get it. I understand that sentiment based off to the dramatic turnaround. We've seen in Los Angeles and Chicago, but in the same way that the Cowboys saints game last week was a bit of a reminder that like there are multiple ways to skin the cat and still winning the NFL their other head coaching hires. That would make sense in Green Bay, and this is sort of difficult to evaluate from the outside. But like you have to look at the people who are making the hires as well. And Mark Murphy has only ever known the Packers way. Right. And I I don't know what. His openness is to thinking outside the box thinking way outside the box. The Packers were lauded for thinking a little bit outside the box and their GM higher and they hired somebody in their own building Meena like it's not like they went out of their own. They like they literally hire Brian gonna kiss who'd been there for whenever twelve years after some time in Kansas City. So this is the team that does things in a very for lack of a better word traditional way twenty mentioned Fangio, actually when we do our weekly inside around able which you and I are part of it goes up on ESPN dot com each week, and it's like five questions, my first, I scribe written my paragraph about why Vic Fangio makes sense. And I spent more time to talk myself out of that, maybe I should have just held my ground air because what is he do what he's doing in Chicago defensively is it's every bit is impressive. What Sean McVay or Matt Nagy? I'm not sure that's the case. But it's at least in the same neighborhood in terms of output for a defense that is really ticking tale when it difficult to play. Good defense in the NFL. Now, it's the funny thing about the Packers will not funny if you're a Packers fan, but we spend so much time talking about you know, how bad is McCarthy and how much worse is Aaron Rodgers this year win. In fact, according to a fight ciders. Their offense is seventeen Devia way their twenty third, but we talk about that far less. I think one concern right now that teams might have with going that wrote field with having the defensive head coach. And you know, like a young offense hotshot is the fear that you'll lose him immediately. I think about like Tennessee or that that's kind of what they have..

"So when I first read the tweet, I thought is it possible. He's taking a shot at Mike McCarthy 'cause he saying the next head coach you gotta find somebody is going to hold number twelve and everybody in this building to the hashtag Lombardi standard. You gotta hold twelve accountable as well as as the rest of the building again what the hashtag us. I mean somebody officer groove it ain't about no offense offense. Guru. It's not about safe trends, it's about holding twelve accountable as well as everybody else in the building in. I think he's saying Mike McCarthy couldn't hold twelve accountable because Mark Murphy at the top would not allow that that he kept siding with number twelve should be a moot point twelve should be wanting to be coached. Well, he said that yesterday. No, I don't well. He said, I I love to be. Become she 'em baloney. My quarterback in Denver for nine years with John Elway and John had powers that none of us had when it came down to Christmas. Might would always ask. Okay. Do you want to practice in the morning? Do you want to practice in the evening? Well, we knew whenever John wanted to get up. Did you wanna wake up earn it and open kids because if he did we gonna practice in the afternoon if he was cool with not getting up early and open the president? Okay. We were gonna practice in the morning. We understood that. But John wanted to be coat and in front of us might intrigue John John didn't act differently. John didn't put us in a situation where he thought he was better than us. When John made a mistake he would own up to it. John didn't do all this pointing when Shannon ran the wrong. But brought somebody go have to coach you you say you want to be coached up. Sometimes they do Aaron Rodgers. Did you hear that? It just came from hall of Famer, Shannon Sharpe. Who played all those used on Elway. Here's the thanksgiv-. Aaron Rodgers a lot of a lot of quarterback field this way. If you didn't play that position or you have never coached that position. You don't know what the hell you talking about? You know what I don't? I probably can't call plays a no more football air Raja. But let me tell you what I do know people. I'm not mates and being in the situation where I work my way up because I I don't always get the Senate the head of the table the album served around draft pick. "And then certainly is necessary. It's not a bad thing. It's unfortunate that someone has to lose his job. But we see in the corporate world all the time a fresh voice a new direction with leadership again, not bad enough itself. I still dislike the way that Mike McCarthy was let go following their loss to the cardinals at lambofield. And you hear that final call with Wayne laravie and Larry McCarron as sick as they felt in making the call. You can imagine. That's how sick the Packers inside their locker room the coaching staff or shore, they felt the same way. And Mark Murphy decided he didn't want to wait any longer. I have heard some speculation that potentially he gave Mike McCarthy and option do you wanna play out the string do you want to leave? But that's not been confirmed. Most of what I've heard is that McCarthy was blindsided by it. And that a lot of longtime members of the Packers family felt the same way. They couldn't believe that it was done before the season ended. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio. We're gonna get your calls here and some of your responses about favorite Christmas movies. Honestly, some of these I hadn't thought about in years. And so I'm feeling very inspired. Cinematic inspired. If you will so on Twitter AOL radio on our Facebook page or very very active. But Mark Murphy says change was needed. Okay. But what about Aaron Rodgers because that is in? It's most simplistic form what people are boiling this down chill Rogers versus Mike McCarthy. It's not that simple. But I even heard March Humira who is a former Packers tied in a great Packers tight end say Aaron Rodgers just got his coach fired. And that's one from inside the Packers family talking about how Rogers doesn't come out of this on scathed. So is that the case Mark Murphy says absolutely not. Aaron mike. I mean, they had a great run together. They want awful lot of games together. Colluding the Super Bowl and the playoffs that we talked about. And this decision. It's not about you know, one player. And this is what's best for the Packer team Packer organization. That's not the reason I think, and I like any relationship we have our amazing times. We have our times we butt heads. But the basis like I said, it was built on mutual respect and communication. You know, we spent a lot of time. You're talking off the field at my house or his house spending time, together and growing friendship, and we accomplished a lot together. I mean, we had some incredible moments. Just personally, you know, things that. I'm always think about an appreciative of. You don't have to be best friends with the people you work with. But if it starts to affect the quality of the work, that's what it becomes a concern. If your relationship starts to affect the quality of the work and buy some accounts. That's what was happening with Rogers. And McCarthy, it's after hours here on CBS sports radio. One more I want you to hear James Jones. Former Packers receiver was a guest on NFL network after he spoke to Aaron in the wake of Mike McCarthy losing his job. I say coach or do you want? And he said, you know, it doesn't really matter. He said, what do you think I need? And I said everybody's saying offense offense offense. I think Aaron will be great with a defense a minded head coach coming near with your offense a corner like say a few Keppel Philbin that he respected relationship. And you get a defensive minded coach that don't got his hands on. None of the offers you and films four points. I'm gonna make sure you have a top ten defense. I think Aaron Rodgers will will succeed with that in the organization than having just offers a guy coming they're bringing in a new plan. Switching up what Aaron has done for fourteen years bringing a defensive minded coach in the air Aaron Rodgers, and Joel film or whoever to OSI maybe have their relationship score points and get the best outta Aaron Rogers. I think that'll work. Well, this is James Jones after speaking to Erin on the NFL network. I kind of wondered if he said, hey, do you might find turnaround to share this on national television? So then you would expect that it would be a little more cryptic eight five five two one two four two seven. Let's do one quick call here Vaughn is in the bay area. Welcome to after hours. Amy good. How you doing? I'm good. Good great here. I just want to talk a little bit a couple of things as far as the fish will try to. Path on that time, but simple rings guy, be credited, but Mason Crosby did help at all this year. Let's him to games for losing two games days across help stalwart there for many years, but he didn't help this year. And then I just wanted to chime in about the chargers and ramps. Getting no. I know Spanish Fairleigh, obviously charge. You always feel. They came to San Diego history. If I'm correct the LA Rams were the first professional search is on the west coast. Besides all the teams they've got history here, and I'm so happy for both be doing what they're doing. And so a big win in Pittsburgh for the chargers was easy to do. Big. Liz. That was exciting going to east coast and the Rams are kicking ass when the west coast grade, and one more thing I gotta say about Christmas movies really quick really quick did Jimmy Stewart movie. What was that was that the thirtieth street was that it's a wonderful life. I gotta go with that one number one. Okay. I gotta go with. I'm going to go with Christmas vacation number to die hard. I like it. Thanks von. You're very welcome. Eighty eight five five two one two four two two seven. We'll get to more of your calls more of your reaction. Also, it's not just the Packers who made a major change among their coaching ranks in the last couple of days. Nope. In the wake of week thirteen. The Panthers did the same thing. They've lost four in a row. They're definitely trending south. We've got Brad Heller here in studio Brad, are you a fan of Christmas movies? Of course, what's your favorite? So diehard is a Christmas movie. It is if you wanted to be some people say, it is some people say, it's not, okay. Because I was I would go Christmas story which be traditional but diehard is obviously amazing Christmas we category. I put that. I do you want it to be? Christmas. "Fifteen sports time. Greg Magic Johnson Bank sports desk. He is up at Lambeau in the locker room as we speak take it away. Greg. Yeah. Just got done listening to Mark Murphy and Brian good. It could also fill in the interim head coach spoke for a few minutes a couple of things really stand out about the media sessions that we had so far number one. Mark Murphy was badgered by reporters about the structure in Green Bay. And how Murphy will be the the Packers neck pit coach. But also, Brian good. We'll be heavily involved. It appears to be a committee approach with Mark Murphy having to final sign off. And that's the structure that's a little meal here in Green Bay and unlike previous years they had received so more on that from Mark Murphy coming up at three forty five talking to some of the players in the locker room. I have to you know, you you take it personally asked. Devante atoms. Randall Cobb and Blake Martinez when a coaches fired the player ticket personally and to some degree. They said, yes. And then another fences they said well part of the business. And you know, we are where we are for a reason, and we're just not playing well if we have flares need to do our job. Did Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy deserve to get fired?

"Is not to say that Mike McCarthy didn't deserve to be a head. Coach is not to say that he did a terrible job because he did it. He's proven to be a good coach. And it may very well be that he deserves to be someplace else. I'm certainly not gonna sit up here and say that Mike McCarthy doesn't deserve to be a head coach in the league as long as Jason Garrett, and Marvin Lewis is still head coaches in the league, I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna do that. Especially Marvin Lewis. These Jason gave wanna play off game is more than I can say for Marvin Lewis hasn't wanna play off game sixteen years, Mike McCarthy's a Super Bowl champion. I think that ultimately the indictment against Mike McCarthy is very very simple, ladies and gentlemen. When you are coaching. Arguably the greatest talent we have ever seen at the quarterback position in NFL history. You gotta have more than one Super Bowl championship in more than one Super Bowl appearance to show for it. You have to have that Mike because he didn't have that. You can't have Arron Rogers questioning the play calling. You can't have him chagrined over the personnel. That surrounding him ask why that's the biggest defense that I have for Mike McCarthy. He he isn't the only one that needs to needed to go. I think I don't have any problem with Mark Murphy, the presidency yo for the Green Bay Packers going. I mean, you don't wanna had Ted Thompson up in there as a GM before you put. We assign them to consultants position. Brian Khuda Kint good a cancer. We don't know what he's capable of. He clearly wants to move into different direction and have his own guy. That's fair enough. But under Mike are under under a Murphy, you had a regime that did not respect ariza's enough. Didn't show him the courtesy and respect you deserve. You got rid of the quarterbacks. Coach alexan- pelt. You didn't even consult with Andrew with Rogers. How do you have a quarterback coach and not consult with Amer Rogers before letting him go? How do you do that? How do you do that? I remember one time I was told Aaron Rodgers walked into their office. They told him to get the hell out shut up. You play. We run organization. That's how this works really, really. I want to walk around here and act like you know, what Aaron Rodgers listen. He's not having a greatest year. Yeah. Absolutely. Right. He's not in that. Absolutely. Right. Eras is not having the greatest year. Nobody's gonna make that defense. He's not gonna make that defensible himself. He ain't blind. He could see understands, but we're talking about eras who will who will saunter who will cruise into the hall of fame first ballot without question. And gentlemen, Aaron Rodgers has twenty one touchdowns and just one interception on this season. And that's a down year for him. That's how lethal he is. That's how great he is. We are talking about a man with a career ninety eight and fifty five and one record. We are talking about a man, then it's completed sixty four point eight percent of his passes. First career. We are talking about a man that has done this at the frozen tundra lamb Lambeau Field for his career, and he is still passing over forty two thousand yards. We are talking about a man that's exceeded. What some would label top-five quarterback in NFL history who's passed over seventy thousand yards and Brett farve. And nobody would tell you that bradfo was better than that Rogers. That's how great Aaron Rodgers is. That's how great Aaron Rogers has been. And so guess what? If he's not feeling a coach, if he's not happy, or whatever the case may be you better pay attention.

Green Bay Packers fire coach Mike McCarthy after loss to Cardinals

"Missed the number opportunities throughout the game. The voice of coach Mike McCarthy actually make that former coach Mike McCarthy he was fired Sunday after the laws replaced by offensive coordinator. Joe Philbin team, president Mark Murphy. In a statement saying the twenty eight eighteen season, quote as not lived up to the expectations and standards of the Green Bay Packers. Mccarthy was in his thirteenth season as coaching Green Bay win the Super Bowl in twenty ten but this is a third straight season where the Packers abs- struggled ESPN Packers reporter robbed Moskvy. This was always going to be a difficult season for McCarthy. Given what happened nearly a year ago when they forced out general manager, Ted Thompson, remember Thompson was the one who hired McCarthy back in two thousand six they didn't just change general managers this off season. They changed the entire power structure, and they only gave McCarthy a one year extension. So he was under contract only through two thousand nineteen and the structure change was this instead of the general manager having the authority over the head coach team, president, Mark Murphy. Took over the authority and McCarthy reported to Murphy, the GM reported to Murphy, it was entirely different power structure. So any sense that this season didn't go or wasn't going to go as well as they had hoped? You had to wonder if this was coming and with those stretch that they've had the four losses in five games on the road. And then coming home today an embarrassing showing on offense. It all goes back to when Aaron Rodgers ripped the offense here after their win over buffalo. That was the first real side of the beginning of the end for Mike McCarthy, as we mentioned Joe Philbin will take over an interim basis, but with that being said long-term word you the Packers go here from here. I should say in terms of a new head coach. Yeah. Well, Michael, I just got a text message right before we went on the air from a player somebody who played prominently in today's game and said who do you think our next head coach will be so even the players want to know that they possibly made this move to try to see if Joe Philbin was the guy. Remember Philbin was a coach in Miami. Mike Patton is also on the staff. Former Browns kit coaches a defensive coordinator. But more than likely they will go with someone who can bring some new offensive ideas to this group that the big question now, though isn't necessarily who's going to be the next coach. It's who's going to hire the next coach just Murphy stay in that role or does he then turn it finally turn it back over to Brian good accuse after Kuna proved himself to be a pretty good talent evaluator and building the roster. The feeling here is that they need to go back to the structure of the way. It's been over the years here. The general manager made all football decisions. We'll see if that happens Murphy, we'll talk to reporters tomorrow here early afternoon. Mike McCarthy fired in his thirteenth season is Packers coach longest tenured coach in the NFL remained Bill Belichick with the patriots.
