Film Review: A teenage political experiment in ‘Boys State’

"Future candidate for elected office. Look no further than the new documentary called Boy State. It's about an annual event in my government for high school students sponsored by the American Legion. By the way, Bill Clinton and Cory Booker went through the program. Boy state begins streaming Friday on Apple, Plus our film critic Justin Chang has THISS review. Since they were founded in the 19 thirties by the American Legion, the boys, state and Girls state programs have been giving high schoolers a practical education in how government works. Students in every state are chosen to take part in a weeklong summer experiment in which they must form their own representative democracy. As we learned from the opening credits of the terrific new documentary Boys State. Will Clinton, Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh and Cory Booker are just a few of the program's famous alums. A film, directed by Amanda McBain and Jesse Moss, focuses on the Texas Boys state event that took place in June 2018. We see the roughly 1200 participants arriving in Austin. Where they are randomly divided into two political parties, The federalists and the Nationalists. Those names carry no agenda. It's up to both parties to hammer out a platform, choose their leaders and then run against each other in a week long election campaign. McBain and Moss throw us into this mark government exercise without much preamble or explanation of the rules of the game. Like politics itself, be action can be a little confusing. Unlike politics, it's never boring, mainly because the movie wisely focuses on a select few participants. Either. The filmmakers were extremely lucky and their choice of subjects or they shot so much footage that they were able to isolate the most compelling personalities. In any event, the four young men we spend the most time with all in that playing key roles in the experiments, nerve wracking outcome. Most ambitious of the bunch is Ben, the Federalists Party chair who's willing to do anything to win votes, including smearing the Nationalists on Social media. Venice. Politically conservative. He has a Ronald Reagan action figure to prove it. And he despises what he sees as the liberal tendency to divide people along lines of race, gender and disability. Then speaks from some personal perspective. He lost both his legs to meningitis when he was three. Care of the Nationalist Party hails from the opposite end of the political spectrum. Progressive black teenager originally from Chicago. Renee knows he stands out in this mostly white, conservative Texas field. He also stands out on merit. He has a seasoned politicians command of rhetoric and can deftly out argue any opponent. It is also capable of calling for party unity, as he does in an early speech. Impact of Biden's Choice of Kamala Harris as Running Mate

"Just dividing Picking California Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate. Let's get the what this might mean for the Democrats as they head into November for the election. Marty Shankar, chief content officer for Bloomberg News, joins US Marty. Thanks so much for joining us here. What's your initial takeaway of Kamala Harris as Joe Biden's running mate? Well, I think you know, and it's been spoken about all morning and yesterday afternoon. It's a historic pick. She is the first Whom the person of color to be on a major ticket advice. Presidential candidate and you know, it solidifies what some Think was a somewhat of a vulnerability for Joe Biden. That's with the with the black voters. And I think that you know it was an excellent choice. Well, Marty, you say that. But will there be any pushback from black voters given her record on criminal justice reform and as a prosecutor Yeah, You know, I think that's been a problem for her. If this came out Bloomberg another George stories about her role in as attorney general in California. Oh, and as a district attorney in San Francisco. She has Been criticized for being Dick really aggressive in her prosecutions and resisting remuneration for those wrongly prosecuted, But that was you know, decades ago. Um, I think that you know, it will be a line that GOP uses against her and they've already started. Um, but I think her attributes will probably be able to overcome those What do you think This means? This ticket here the way this potential campaign may unfold in the next couple of months means for financial markets here. Well, you know, I think the important thing you know no one's really talking about it. But Pamela Harris and Joe Biden. Their policies really are dependent on what happens in the Senate if the Senate remains in Republican hands. They're going to have a really hard time getting any of their policies through so I think the focus really needs to be on those important Senate races, their number of them That were supposedly safe for Republicans who are now in tossup territory. And I think place like main on Arizona. So you I think that that's really going to be a pivotal thing for markets. But I do think that if you didn't see it the other day, Ed in the former editor in chief of Barons wrote a piece in The Wall Street Journal saying that Biden presidency is going to be great for markets. Yeah, absolutely. And I think you know, market participants are already saying that we had marked as Reon yesterday. Who, you know, obviously. Is it a financier, too? The Biden campaign and so he obviously was very pleased with the comma Harris choice to It would have been his choice. Marty, what happens between now and November in the sense that Joe Biden can be a little bit unpredictable? Is there a way that he could throw this? Well, you know, when people asked the what my thoughts are on the election coming up by continually say it's Joe Biden's to lose. And there is and I think the debates coming up the three debates and the debate the vice presidential debate this just one could have A really important role in how this election place out. So yes, Bonnie. It's quite possible that Joe Biden could say something or perform. Poorly and that may have a real impact on the race, which, despite the polls, I believe is pretty close. Marty, How do you think these candidates for the president and Vice President Biden How will they campaign over the next several months is it just could be a serious of television interviews and things like that? Yes, And I think you know, like today they will do a a century a small audience of participants so she'll be distant with I'm sure with mass And that's the way it's going to be until November. I mean, Donald Trump certainly would like to make it a more on the GOP side. Would liketo have his huge rallies, But I don't think that's gonna happen, so it's going to be as usual and unprecedented campaign. Virtual events on on video and that actually made Plato Bidens and ban it because he's much better in Hello. Prompted characters rather than life. Yeah, Marty, what makes you say that? You think it's closer than the polls suggest right now? What votes? Is the pole missing? Well, you know, we did a story about a theory that when potential voters are speaking to Pollsters. They may say that they are voting for the Democrat when in fact they are going to vote for Trump. I think that the There is this phenomenon and people just not willing to tell what they're That they support Donald Trump to pollsters. So I do think that there's that element of undercounting Trump's support. Fascinating. It's going to be just amazing. Several months. It feels like every presidential election in the United States brings up some new constitutional challenges and debates and difficulties, and this one's going to be no different. "The Earth will be kind to everybody. Then backstage. She's a raging maniac. It's the most vicious environment in the world. Sexual harassment, racism, bullying brutality backstage from the staff and the manager. So finally You know, they have a deejay on the show. She's always dancing, Got a deejay that plays all the music. He came out to defend everything. And he said, Listen to this statement. There's love in the room backstage, it's filled with love. Washington and most states shield reporters from law enforcement subpoenas except in rare cases to May and Teo Rama. Listen exciting day. Great day for our campaign. It's a great day for America, in my view. That is Joe Biden standing near Kamala Harris, making his first public appearance with his newly selected running mate. Joe, I'm so proud to stand with you. And I do so mindful. Of all the heroic and ambitious women before me. ABC is Mark Romel are joining us on the coma news line with details of their campaign debut in Delaware, and they covered a lot of ground together today, Mark Yeah, they they talked about a lot of things from the current state of the economy, mostly as a result of covert 19 took over 19 and on what they have been the lack of leadership by President Trump. Really what this event was about was obviously introducing Kamala Harris. Ah campaign official told us ahead of time to look for contract and that's what they're looking to do is draw a contrast between their campaign and president Trump and I would say this is pretty much on message for that. The two of them. Talking about what appears to be a more optimistic view of America. In contrast to the harsh words from President Trump that we've seen it time about Rioters in the streets and looting and one order instead of that message, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris talking about building back America, especially his economic plan is build back better. Those kinds of things and saying that it's time to dig out of the hole that President Trump has dubbed the country and and build further than that, not just biggest out, but go beyond that. On. Then they said that this is an important election. A life changing election as bite and put it in the choice is up to voters. November interesting, though. Also Joe Biden talking about Young girls of color, waking up with a new hope about their future thiss morning. Yeah, absolutely. And it goes to speak about what the significance of Paris is being the choice. She means to AA lot of Americans. Biden himself mentioning that But we've heard, uh, number numerous stories of young girls. We followed a 10 year old girl. ABC News has followed a 10 year old girl last year who has been Who has willed that Harris was picked up. She's a young black girl looking up to Harris, and so that the idea that a woman of color is now in a major party ticket is historic. Decision on so that's certainly speaks of volume, that kind of development for this campaign, and it's a change in look to the campaign, quite literally from Joe Biden, who's 77 years old and a white man. We'll make a party that's more increasingly focused on issues of racial equality. Police reform these kinds of things, and perhaps you see Harris as the person Who's best Tio reform the campaign on present that to voters and capture that vote in that key issue this election, Kamala Harris talking about the black lives matter movement talking about Social justice, saying this is a moment of real consequence. So she was being tough in some ways, But she also said her favorite label of all the labels is Momma. Lolla. Not just Camilla. Yes, you know, we know Kamala Harris is credentials. The former attorney general of California, Democratic presidential candidate on I think that was one example of her certainly working to humanize herself, people and dear herself. Two people in there was another moment. Where she spoke very fondly of you abide in place on both right in and how close to him when she was a little in California, and was the attorney general here in Delaware. She had these very human moments where he was talking about. You know that relationship there and how she's come to know Biden and for all that rigorous debate that occurred during the Democratic primary, particularly between Harris and bite, and clearly they Have a fondness for each other and know each other. Quite well. ABC is Mark Rama lard. Thank you, Mark. A quick look at the new Pixel 4a

"All right last week on the show we talked about the news that the Pixel for a had released or not rather let me back up not release. It'd been announced. It's going to be released on August twentieth I believe. So you still have a little more than a week to wait if you WANNA spend three, hundred fifty dollars on a very mid range device by google. And then I ended up getting a device, the Pixel for a like a day later. So it came a day late to to miss the show unfortunately Sarlis's. I know it's just the way it goes, but I have it. I've been playing around with it. I'm going to be giving this the full review treatment on hands on tech next Monday But I've been I've been playing around with this pixel for a quite a bit. I've got my SIM card loaded in there I've been relying on it and so for her I mean I, feel like the Reviews have been incredibly positive on this as they were to the three last year and as I was I definitely consider three eight one of the best phones in my opinion of last year for a variety of reasons, this phone is is right there as well. I gotTa say, I'm pretty proclaimed like it's just been a a great device and haven't really missed not being on my for excel as a result. So. Just real real quick kind of like I. Look At. It has the plastic unibody design that is really kind of I don't know Dole I suppose you're not buying this for style points. Let's just say it's still kind of has the pixel quality to it, but it is a plastic unibody design I took a camping and got jostled around a few different times and it took a beating and I couldn't really find any marks on it. I thought it was a good kind of endurance test camping to rely on this I was pretty happy with that. Five point eight inch, amyloid, ten, eighty p displays, sixty hertz refresh. So they're not doing anything fancy with like a high refresh rate or anything has the snapdragon seven thirty on the inside six gigs of Ram, for three hundred, fifty dollars I feel like that is incredibly reasonable and then one hundred, twenty gigs of storage. So you you don't find multiple configurations of the Pixel for a it's just this one configuration that I have in my hands right here. One hundred sorry twelve point two megapixel rear facing camera single single lens up there. F one point seven after, and then an eight megapixel front facing camera, which is the little Hole Punch camera up at the top, and then you know a little bit of the extras like the headphone jacks that has an analog headphone port at the top USB bottom firing speakers eighteen, watt fast charge and yeah, I mean this this phone is if you've been. If you've been considering waiting for the four a because you knew that the three was as solid as it was for its price. Well, then you're probably delighted to know that this fifty dollars less than the three was. So it's three, hundred, fifty dollars and it gets Mo- most of the things right on and on my early review anyways it gets most of the things. Right that it really needed to to land right the cameras great it's felt it's light. It takes a beating the display. His sharp battery life is excellent. So I'm going to give this a full review here very soon but I just wanted to kind of get this on on the show briefly and just say like I'm really enjoying using this device and I don't Miss. My other device and I know from my perspective that when I'm using it advice and I find myself not missing like not wanting to go back and be like rude I just WanNa go home Then it's a that it's a good device and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

COVID-19 Impact and Recovery

"All right gentlemen welcome to the show. This has been a long time in the making this particular episode as you both know, we've been dialoguing over the the you know through email after the first covid type production I put together, which was in a Web webinar format. We decided to do this when Moore's a prerecorded livestream instead of doing the Webinar format because. There's a ton of things that we need to talk about and I just think this format makes more sense to get the information out. So I would think both you guys for coming on the show and covering this with me from the standpoint of having much more knowledge about it than I do. So which is which is important. Marcucci when it started just with some some introductions, obviously I did the brief introduction in the open there. But just a more personal introduction mark. Let's start with you who is Mark Fujio, and Why are you on the show today? Let's talk about that and then we'll go to you vincent. Okay. So I. Talk about how we've been friends for a decade if you want. Okay. Yeah. So Yeah I. was going to lead into that the I've been involved in all sorts of different You're leading edge technologies. I've lived in Santa Clara in the Silicon Valley for twenty nine years Known Frederick for about ten years and helped get him out of adobe and into a startup storage company named Robo and You know along at That's when I started listening to the this week in barrage podcast hosted by Vincent. So I've been listening to that show for man. Over over ten years, I think even longer than I've known you Frederick. So. I've had quite an interest in urology Personally last November and a dark Moon it you new moon you know night had an accident coming home where I ran into an Amazon. and. Which I wasn't expecting to be there and shorts long story short. You know I tour the complete tear their quadriceps tendon on my left leg. So I spent basically three months into brace. And then than three months sheltering in place. So, during some of your initial cooeperation obviously had a lot more time to pay attention to things and I remember seeing in sort of late November early December, a little bit of a blurb of news about in new virus coming out of China. So Fast forward So the whole incident about the Chinese doctor who had was fighting it. Got Suppressed and who ultimately died, and then you know what we turned into January. This year just exploded as a story and the US and I don't think anybody can go anywhere and a gathering you know A. Virtual. With the friends or family without covy becoming a major topic of discussion. So I very much enjoyed the the seminar you did you know a couple months ago Frederick and. Be Able to put you in Vincent together to Have a follow up. Survey and that is that is that. That's perfect and that that that. Discussion on Cova we did that you mentioned back in the day that will link to that in the description for this episode, but that was designed to be I think the title of it was. Something around demystifying covid nineteen hundred photographers, but it was turns out photographers are actually human so it doesn't does. It back then it. Doesn't really matter but I wanted to definitely follow up on that since we've done that. So much stuff since we did that. Webinar. So much stuff. Vincent that you're intimate with. In the rest of the world obviously is to a degree intimate with has happened both on the understanding of the virus side of things all the way through to disinformation and the politicization of. The whole mask wearing thing and you're not American if you wear a mask and now you are American if you wear a mask and you know all all this stuff has been happening. So I don't want to make this political but I do want to touch on the politics of that before we before we dive in then can you tell us a little bit about yourself and the podcast this week in virology? Well I am a Professor Virology at Columbia University, which is in New, York. I've been working on viruses for over forty years. I've been doing research on them. I wrote a textbook. I have taught many virology courses and twelve years ago I started a podcast. Decided to call it this week. Envir- Allergy I was inspired by Leo LaPorte. Chipper. Who probably inspired you as well I would guess, absolutely. Father. We have done this for twelve years and at the beginning of this year we noticed this outbreak in China we started covering it and I think almost every episode from the beginning of Twenty twenty now has been about the virus and the disease SARS covy to in Covid nineteen. And you know we have always talked about the threats of new viruses emerging. but they weren't taken seriously enough and we've had big outbreaks. You know we've had big ebola outbreaks. We've had Sika outbreaks, influenza outbreaks, many other viruses, but. I hate to say we were not ready for this. This all could have been avoided quite sadly. So now I am full on in educating people trying to counter the misinformation our listeners have gone way way up. It's just great. We're getting mentioned by Malcolm. Glad. Well, we got in USA Today The New York Times this week. But I think more people need to listen because we really tell it like it is and so that's the story.

Airbnb is close to filing for an IPO

"AIRBNB is close to filing for an initial public offering according to people familiar with the matter. If it does a reporter, Marine Farrell says, it would mark a dramatic turnaround for the home sharing company earlier this year they were talking about going public we reported they were close to filing and then the pandemic hit and it really hurt their business immediately, it was a tough time for travel companies. But as you could probably see, bet if you're talking to friends and family, I've certainly heard this. You know most people I know or either renting in doing something through airbnb or trying to, and it's the summer this fall. Bookings. Have gone up pretty dramatically. They've had a fairly sharp rebound. So it seems like it's you know the time suddenly seemed right for Airbnb to try to go public.

There's been ongoing protests in Wauwatosa even before the George Floyd situation over this, that and the other thing and They have focused locally on the case of Officer Joseph MENSA, who is the police officer who shot and killed a man who, armed with a stolen gun was part of a group that was causing a disturbance and running toward Mayfair Mall. While armed with that stolen gun. He also had 36 rounds of ammunition and an extended magazine. And according to the police investigation, he fired a shot that officer men sub and protesters have been going after Officer men ever since The wall photos the city council. Recommended that he his employment be terminated in the fire and police Commission has suspended him. As I had predicted. This is not satisfied the protesters who have disrupted government meetings who made wild statements at a public meeting at hard Park, and then on Saturday, I took their protest directly to the home. Off officer Men's his girlfriend, who is a police officer in Milwaukee. Where Officer Benson Wass and a situation developed in which Officer MENSA says that he was shot at Before we talk to Chief Webber. I want to deal with two new developments today. He sent the following letter to me, your dentist McBride of Wauwatosa today, Dear Mayor McBride. I write to you today concerning the deteriorating security and policing in Wauwatosa. The protests, which may have started peacefully have been growing ever more violent and the event Saturday night outside the residence of Officer Joseph Mintz have required a meat require immediate leadership and strong action from you. First Amendment rights, having said that ever since the death of George Flight in Minneapolis and the protests and the protests the incident sparked There has been a push by community leaders throughout the country to weaken, defund and abolish police departments in several cities. Locally, Officer MENSA has become the poster child for this movement due to his three officer involved shooting incidents. Officer MENSA has dedicated his life to protecting our community and has been cleared by the Milwaukee County District attorney's office of two of the three shootings in which he has been involved. The third incident is still under review. Despite the decisions by the Milwaukee County D. A. Dallas - When Could Unemployed Texans Receive Extra $400?

"Governor Abbott today is expected to address whether unemployed Texans will be included in President Trump's $400 a week federal extension of unemployment benefits. Rice University political scientist Mark Jones says it's still not clear whether Governor Abbott could comment about it at all. Many would say that President Trump doesn't have the authority to reallocate that 44 billion of FEMA funds to pay $300 extra per week to be pointed employment, the state's Jones says. It's also not clear whether Governor Abbott would legally have the authority. Me to approve the spending of the matching $100 or whether Texas has the money to spend.

Is Jesus a Liar?

"Is Jesus supplier. This is a question we were asked this week and we're GONNA deal with a couple of passages of scripture that people try to use to claim that Jesus is a liar. The first is Matthew Twenty, four, thirty, six, and its corresponding passage in mark thirteen. Thirty two in both those passes what it says, his book concerning the day or the hour. No one knows not even the angels in Heaven Nor the Son. But only the father and people try to claim that Jesus is telling a lie because as God, he should know everything. But in this passage it sure looks like he's claiming he does not know something. That's the claim until you know the rest of the story because what this actually is the Jewish idiom, it is a way of trying to say that only the father knows in the Sun shouldn't be choosing the date. The shun should basically be minding his own business, he should be anxiously awaiting. For the father to choose the day, and if you look within the context of both passages that is exactly what you see in the mark passage, the very next versus beyond guard keep awake. And in the Matthew, twenty four passage, the very next verse says. For as were the days of Noah. So will be the coming of the son of man. We're going to look into this in more detail tomorrow, but will we WANNA I? See? Is the fact that the context makes it clear that this is not saying that Jesus did not know something, but to expect

"If you watch the documentary where they follow around for two of sued I, mean a six months actually, she is the dreariest most boring woman. You have ever encountered this Netflix documentary, they filmed like sixty thousand hours and cut it down to one hour. So that's got to be the best of the best, and it's still boring. You can't watch more than five minutes without. Just falling asleep, the most boring woman in the world Hey, he should be depressed. He has to live with. Cheese Now, why is she depressed? Well, if you look at. What's happened in the last eight months, she got an eighty million dollar deal with net flicks. Produce Things I. Know You're saying she's not a producer, doesn't matter. She got eighty million new stuff you'd be depressed to. Got A forty million. Was it fifty million for her book? You're saying yourself. Up, these book deals are usually ten million, well for fifty million. No wonder she's depressed. Maybe. Terrible. Maybe she and Ellen could get together and be angry all day long. So what what is she going to do about this depression? Do we know? I, have no idea. I, think another thing here, I wouldn't trust anything these. These Democrats say right now Biden is close to picking a vice president. They still keep bringing up that Michelle Obama rumor. So by throwing at this depression thing, it eliminates her once and for all because you're not gonNA, nominate somebody who was suffering from some illness as depression. And he's he's asking and it's not an unusual question about Biden. You know his mental state as he taken any cognitive test, you know the previous interview where he said I, take them all the time. so He's already said he has. The guy is perfectly right in asking the question. Have you taken a cognitive? Test why the hell would I take a test come on man? That's like saying you before he got in this program, you take a test where you're taking cocaine or not. What do you think or are you say to? Out. Joe. Bartlett. officed. Well I, little defensive if you ask me or. Where do you get junkie from? What kind of thing does that to say? I could see if he got mad and said why you have you taken the cognitive test, you don't seem so bright. But why do you go right to junkie with that? What brought that up? It's a little. To No. Okay now, and you've got to watch videos I've watched this video like fifty times. It's hysterical to watch him, watch the his face just exclude. But now he's GonNa try to prove to the guy. Lose the value of everything. They have New, York. It's GONNA plunge if he doesn't do something. So supposedly is going to allow the police to put some of the stuff back in action although it probably won't be the same. So the most ridiculous idiotic mayor, the worst governor because he's not doing anything, this governor could do something if he wanted to. He can actually remove the mayor. Don't you think it's time to that. And appoint, somebody put somebody in charge. Well who the pick, Ray Kelly, that's who I'd pick. He. Has the power to do that. He has the power to you know. Take the mayor out of oppositon election. Well. You have been looking into this. It's a little fuzzy on that. He can remove the mayor, suspend them for thirty days. Put in somebody now, apparently, the State Supreme Court. Can They're the only ones that can vote to just really remove him and hold a special election time to do that look how much the mayor's destroyed the city in four months. Can you imagine another fifteen months of this? What he'll do to the city? It's really don't. You think Cuomo has a responsibility to I mean he shares the blame for the city's situation. Absolutely. But if he's listening I, know you listen. Fix this now, and we'll. We'll a race, the other things. We'll even stop the nursing homes. So. Hey everybody throwing everybody under the bus. You saw the the nursing home not the the health commissioner of what's his name Zucker? The New York State Health Go, right? Yeah. Boy. He was getting grilled on the stand that nursing home order and and speaking of throwing people under the bus. Sally Yates was the last Obama, attorney general, and she was involved in all of that spying on the trump campaign. Remember Watergate all the fuss. The Watergate was they broke into one guy's office Larry O'Brien. They tried to tap his phone. One guy tried to tap his phone. That's Watergate brought down the whole presidency. This was the most massive surveillance. They corrupted the FBI Brennan Clapper Komi. All these guys were involved in the most illegal surveillance. They got a dozen phony Pfizer warrants. That was the most illegal surveillance of a campaign nothing. No. Where's Woodward and Bernstein on this? You could've gotten another a Pulitzer, where were they on this? So Sally, Yates, the Attorney General, who was supposed to be in charge of the time testified yesterday and Lindsey. Graham really went after her and she admitted to a lot of stuff. She admitted, it was fake Pfizer warrants. They were fraudulent. They were the whole thing was wrong. She admitted to all this, but she threw Komi under the bus. She said, it was all Komi that he went rogue that she told him not to go try to set a trap for General Flynn, but he did it anyway isn't that interesting Maybe that's the what the rest of the group will do in the anthro Komi under the bus. One reason she's confessing is the Durham report will come out at some point and that nails down the whole scenario and all the facts that she's got no choice there. Did you see this Michelle Obama's story? What does she announced that she has exactly she? Depression and trump's to blame. She has depression Michelle Obama has depression. Now she is..

"Biden. Mumbling Joe Biden everybody on the Biden secret service detail saying he's really falling apart in the last month. He's getting a lot worse. It's not good. It's not good So that's why you see all these Democrats now talking about maybe they shouldn't be a debate. You hear this all the time. Now, why should he debate donald trump just lie there's no reason to they're trying to lay out the groundwork for pulling out of the debates. You can have a presidential race without debate no debates in sixty, four, sixty, eight, seventy, two. Years there were no debates but I I just think if he pulls out. that'll turn off this whole race will depend on Independence Democrats vote for Democrats Republicans will go with trump the independence. If he pulls out the realize he's not competent, and then the president will just keep pointing this out and this is the whole key to everything. He's actually comatose he's not conscious. So who is running this? If he wins who's the committee that will run the country figure Obama Valerie Jarrett. People say Hillary's involved now. Some big Soros types, but they're going to have to identify the committee that will run the country I. Think we're titled To know that. Don't you think You're never gonNA know there's not going to say, well, that's yeah. You'RE GONNA trust them on the answer. But if they you know bring out on a hand truck this weekend at Bernie's guy. He's the candidate we gotta know who's really running things even Michael Goodwin who was getting a little wobbly there the last week on President Trump's victory. His column today saying basement show this is not gonNA work. This whole scheme with Baseman show is not gonNA work hide in the basement pretend he's awake not gonNA work. So the only hope for Democrats is this mail in voting stuff. Because that allows complete and total fraud everywhere as DNC chairs have said as Jimmy Carter study showed total fraud when you get to complete mail in voting now, the only catch to that, it can take forever to count votes even with the fraud. Look at this Carolyn Maloney race this is a tiny little congressional race. and they're counting the ballots in Queens how long this has been that where we're going into week seven pretty soon with they actually just declared Carolyn Maloney the winter yo some. Okay, she's a winner. You see there you go. Six weeks. That's all it took. That's sixty thousand votes at six weeks sixty thousand votes. So how much if that takes six weeks? How much would one hundred and twenty million votes take? Literally a year two years. Yeah. Yeah. So I think that's put the president should start talking about how maybe he'd like mail in voting that guarantees them another year no matter what that'll stop all these Democrats see he hasn't really learn how to play them yet. Every great doctor you talk to loves hydroxy chloroquine in the early stages can really help with corona virus. Every great Dr. soon as the president said it, it was the most evil drug in the world nobody's allowed to use you gotta stop. So he's got to learn how to play these people. He should have come out early and said I, want mail in voting I think that's the way to go. Then they would refuse to allow any mail in voting anywhere. So I don't think it'll ever happen because it's already August. It's impossible at this point even if you wanted to switch to mail in voting, it would take years to get up to speed. Now now, people are always asking why C. Four absentee balloting. And why does he think Florida's okay we He's Got Republicans running Florida that he can trust. But you around you've seen these mayors and governors that are running some of these states which you trust them..

The Rigor Of Transmedia Production

"Hey. It's topcoats clips five, three four. Block on a busy July twenty, nine, twenty, twenty they about the rigor up producing contents. For creative media, students, Detroit animators, Enga- mark designers. Work Inside the Creative Campus Nick Glendale Ireland and I want to see if it's possible to set up lanes of academic depth. As well as to produce content on the fly with career students follow a rigor. Of expression. So. I start my rigor with words a word document that they can see that students can see in the form of a brief or mission objector. I use an Amazon model of not having more than two pages of my brace with hyper links. That goto examples of how the content might be done but start with tax, and actually that's how I started the blog post to with tex what you're hearing right now. Can Be, done text. Using transcription programs such as archer. Were audio. Bursts. The auditor Osher by product is always better than ninety percent for me when a use an external mic. I'm using the Mike Right. Now of the Samsung note nine and I'm not sure it'll be high enough quality to produces a transcript from the first go but you know this. It starts with words. In text form. Normally I have my students take those words and try to imagine how they might be presented as short clips of text information. Headlines titles. Key words, phrases, things that can be pushed out on twitter. Or on facebook or on Lincoln. And I tried to do that with all my semi compelling content. That could try to do that with every blog posts that I make on inside viewed I e. The. Point is this. Very few things you do. We'll get noticed if you don't offer them in places where people are already used. To read. Or to here to see. So, in today's world of socially connected people. Twitter facebook instagram linked in. Youtube. Those are all places that are common watering holes for for folks who are in my thought space. And most importantly. Most students have at least two those watering holes as places a look to see the spray Spiratou from folks that want to work with for jobs, they may want to get as creative interns or paid employees in the near future. So my goal is To get some form of process. which believe reaches the rigor of production. To put all this content in different media formats in different places. That's the rigor. In the late summer of two thousand sixteen, you'll find all these same stories they put out fake polls all through the late summer and fall of two thousand, sixteen seventeen points behind these eighteen points behind. There's a ninety six percent chance hillary will win and there were all these articles back then up donald trump very depressed a depressed. He's thinking of leaving the race. He's thinking of quitting. He's withdrawn sources say he's he's depressed. Don't believe any of this none of this is true. These fake polls these college polls. Are the worst and all of them. This is the network polls you look in the metrics, there's no Republicans in the sample they take Republicans down to twenty three percent in the sample. So already have shaved the thirteen points away from from the president's side. Then they don't do voters they don't do likely voters they do what they call. Adults, which means that can go anywhere they want pick any group they want the demographics are all screwed up. So it's way too young. It's nobody in the age range of anybody's going to actually vote. So and and look at this the Democratic National Convention Multiple Police Agency. Say now say they will not protect that convention. Well therefore defunding the police, they don't want any police well, they get their wish no police at the DNC. That's for the most part. Going to be like a virtual convention. "Have a choice to continue your your life to feel worse about it in the case of being abused or something horrific like that. You still have a choice. You have a choice to lock yourself up in a prison. Where you're upset and depressed and mad and sad and everything else, or you have the ability to say, Hey, you know what? Thousand part of my past and if I look at the facts, unfortunately, a lot of people are abused the HAM, so a lot of people need to be a functioning part of society and it doesn't give you a pass just because you had a past that was disrupted by somebody else's behavior by somebody else's beliefs. Beliefs, it doesn't give you a pass to treat people whatever way you want in the future relationships that you have or the relationships that you have at the moment if your dad abused you and now you're using your child. Yes, it's understandable, but you can't really tell your kid. Yeah. Like I beat you because that's all I know like it doesn't. It doesn't take away what you did. You still did something. That's not right. Correct. I. Think. This is a powerful statement. Kind of end with is just as this idea of your thinking is the only thing that can affect us. We can think about the way someone else thinks about us and we're going to have that hurt us. Or we can say you know what? I don't understand me. Somebody says I don't like Mark Belt, he's super arrogant. How do I deal with that? How do I deal with somebody saying that? Well, if I if I'm thinking about it, I could say, well, a lot of people that talk and communicate the Youtube and a lot of people that are on social media that are pumping are a lot information. A lot of them are concerned, arrogant. That can take some other information, I kind of plug that in and say. Well. It doesn't really have to impact me. It's going to impact you whatever way he wanted to impact. You going to leave you guys off with my one of my favorite quotes as from Abraham Lincoln, and basically he says, your mind is happy as you make it up to be. Your mind is as happy as you make it up to be that I think that's an amazing. That's an amazing quote when I think about you know the reason why? I'm on this journey and the reason why I'm investigating a lot of these things. It's not because I'm sad, it's not because I mad. It's not because I'm depressed not because I have anxiety. It's the simple fact that I wanna try to help as many people as I possibly can be happy I found a of happiness in the simple things of life I found alive happiness with my diet found a lot of happiness in my relationships. I found a lot of happiness. In the weights that I lift and I don't really feel like I need to get happiness from anything artificial or anything different I. Don't think i. need additional stuff or things necessarily to make me happy although I do enjoy doing things that are fun I feel complete and I feel like, Hey, if you feel complete, want to go out and try to make other people feel complete or not make other people feel complete help other people feel complete especially the people that want. Want to especially the people that are seeking out the information. Especially, you guys that are that are here following this channel twenty, nine thousand followers right here. "Andrew Zaragoza today's episode comes to us by way of the marks Molly, Bell, Youtube Channel again. This is different than the super training. He's going to share some of the quotes that he's actually made himself that really really powerful but I think you. You guys are GonNa dig today's episode. If you do please reach out to bell, it's at Mark Smelly Bell on twitter and instagram. Let them know you heard it on the podcast feed and I don't know just hit them up with like maybe your favorite quote that he's the that he spits today and yet does let let him know. Let us know at Markle's power project on Instagram, Amby Power Project on twitter, and I, really hope you guys enjoyed this episode talk to you. Later piece visit Mark Bell Super Training Gym Super Training, gym. These strongest Jim and today I'm GonNa Talk to you about stoicism. What I want to talk about right now is I've been reading quotes. I've been diving in deep. I've been doing a lot of research. I said on twitter while back I made a tweet and basically said something the effect of working on yourself as a time job, and it's the most popular tweet that I have other people re tweet it. People got excited about it and it really can be and it really is and it should be something that you you work on. You want to work on your personal development. You WanNa work about work on how we think about our thoughts, how we? We interpret life for me. I'm on a quest for myself to continue to gain freedom and continue to get closer to what people call quote unquote the truth, right? We never know things absolutely or we won't know things for certain, but we can continue to narrow down the BS that we hear every single day, and we can figure out a way to get a little closer to the truth during this quest, I have written out some of my own concepts. But I'm GonNa read you a little chunk of what I wrote here. I have come to the conclusion that I, no longer need emotions. I'm going to read that again. This is something I wrote I have come to the conclusion that I. no longer need emotions I still identify them. I still understand them, but I do not have to react to them. That is a choice. I trained myself not to react to them any longer. You have the freedom to interpret that whatever way you'd like if you like Tam Bro like I don't want to be emotionless, I don't want to be a robot. This is not about being a robot. This is about choosing a mode of interpretation. This is about choosing gear. You're going to switch into based off what you just heard. Sad. Mad. Happy. depressed. Anxious I don't even know if all those emotions or this might be slightly different than than emotions. So we have those things on this side, right? And then we have the input of what's coming in the input on what's coming in. The input of what comes in does not have to equal the output of what goes back out. So what comes in somebody's saying that I'm fat I don't need to look and say, does that match up with sadness or does that match up with madness? Should I be really mad there? Should I be really sad. Oh, wait I also have the option could be depressed to let me put on a sad song. I want you to understand that it's a choice. It's something that you choose. Now also say please forgive me. Because I do understand that many people. From. Depression on. On a really wide scale and some people that are bipolar, my brother was bipolar and he died from it. So I'm compassionate empathy towards those things I understand those things and so not all of us are able to deal with the input that comes in the same way as everybody else. Right. So I do understand there's a percentage of the population that that is very difficult aside from that. Aside from those people that may have a really tough time with that I, still think that everybody possesses the ability to get a little bit better at it and it's important for me to share that with you because I think. Sometimes if I say something, you might get a little reactionary to it, but there's no reason to be reactionary to it because you just need to understand. That, you have a choice that you can make on how you're going to react to it. You can just react to it, can you can just be reactionary? But. You don't have to have an emotion attached to that reaction you're entitled to. However you want to. Interpret it for yourself. If you're like, Hey, dude, like I, don't want to know not not have emotions. The emotions are still going to happen no matter. How much train yourself? No matter how much you prep yourself for life. There's still going to be emotions that hit you. But for me personally, this has been really helpful. It's been helpful to take the input of what somebody says and to recognize I. Don't believe that anyone's trying to do anything to you. I. Think People are trying to do stuff for themselves and I think that we get, we get kind of tied into..

Follow that money and see. Where that goes, who do you think Biden will pickers VP? Supposed to announce it this weekend. I guess, Kamala, Harris seems to be the front runner. I don't know. That's her pushing that she has been in the most incredibly aggressive campaign for the job, which usually means he's not in the lead. There's what is the argument to use her because she's got things against her one. She viciously attacked. Biden. For being a racist, there's video that she. Usually pick vice president. Again I've mentioned this in the past. This is different than these super training! Gym Channel This is marks own personal youtube channel where he talks a lot about nutrition motivation training all of the above in very very mark bell fashion. Today's episode mark is GonNa. Teach you how to deal with stress. If you're picking up with marks putting down, please retail and let them know that you guys heard it on the power project podcast feed all his social media. Handles all the same. It's at Mark Smelly Bell. Let them know and I hope you guys enjoyed this episode. Mark Bell just got done with a bunch of ten minute. Walks have been out here. Walking all day decided to take a seat and to talk to you guys. Legs are Steph. Talk to you guys about stress. There's a lot of strategies involved in in how you can handle your day to day. Stress something I've been thinking about a little bit more often. Recently I'm really a big Fan I think. A lot of people are as well a big fan of Elon Musk and his kind of freethinking and very playful thought process that he has I love. How forward thinking is I love that? He just puts it out there. You know it's got this mission to get to Mars and even mentioned that. He's GonNa like sell off a lot of his life's possessions, so he. He can really just hone in and focus on Mars and not think about were car. He's driving and what fixtures he has in his home, and all these other things. There's one eighty distractions. He wants to be focused on the main thing, and then he even has a shirts, and he has a mission where he says occupy Mars. He doesn't want to just get tomorrow Mars supposed to occupy Mars and I think that description I think is helpful in him having a very precise goal, not just talking about like just getting there. We haven't even landed anybody there yet. And he's talking about occupying and so I think that that's. Really interesting, but I do think that before we get ahead of ourselves before we go and occupy Mars need to occupy and. Our own mind. I think people need to land on their own mind before we think about landing on Mars and the reason why I say that is. I've mentioned this many times before on my podcast, and even in some Saturday school sessions that we've been doing everything is always open to interpretation has to do with how you interpret it, and so when I think about stress. That's always where I like to star. We have to also understand that. People are going to induce stress. People are going to seek out. Stress and people are going to create a lot of their own stress, and there's definitely different types of stress. There's negative straps. There's some positive stress. We stressed from working out, but we also produce a lot of hormones and a lot of things go on in the body that end up being quite positive for us, but you can definitely overdo it. You can be overtrained and when you're overtrained. Trained the other stresses of life really dump on top you and pile on. Here's a couple of ways that you can work on dealing with stress. Let's say that you saw something stressful. I mean in today's world with the amount of cameras that are on the streets, and the amount of cameras that we see perpetuating and and promoting violence, and just sometimes, even just not necessarily promoting it, but showcasing it has is the case with The George Floyd situation. Those. Things can be stressful and I think maybe years ago. We just didn't see these things as much. The News didn't show these things as much. Maybe a lot of these things were happening, but we just didn't see them as a whole. We didn't see them as much and therefore. You know we could. We could be ending up with your average ordinary American could end up with PTSD just from watching the news, and just from having an instagram feed, which is crazy because I think that in most cases when we think of PTSD, we think of a soldier or sometimes there's cases of child abuse where you had ptsd, but now I know. Know it sounds you know soft and I know that people are viewing these things differently, but I think the body the mind. I think these things wear on us and I think they chip away at US and I. Think they should be taken just as seriously I think these are really serious matters for us to all have witnessed a murder on TV. Is Pretty Damn Wild I think there is a huge difference between witnessing a murder like what we saw in the George Floyd situation versus what you might see in a horror movie or slash movie like we're able to tell the difference, because we're able to kind of zoom out from that and say OK allies a film, and it's our, and it was written into the script, and it was part of the plan, and that's just the way it goes and disguise indestructible, and he haunts your dreams and kills union dreams. By the way there's nothing more scary than Freddie Krueger. Who Thought of that thing, but Manfreddy Kruger's terrifying that flannel jacket and those claws and everything. I still can't get over, and we'll have nightmares even still to this day. It's about frigging. Freddy Krueger anybody else in the same boat as me. Anyway how do we deal with? How do we deal with stress? Well, one way to deal with is just to try to avoid it. Like where where the traps? What are the accusers were being? If we're being really honest with ourselves, where are we getting stress from you know sometimes, maybe you say something. That's controversial. You say something. That's a little off. Even just saying that like amongst friends can sometimes cause stress, because now you open yourself up to some criticism criticism, and that can cause some stress I'm not saying that you don't say anything, but what I am saying is that you want to be your words do matter. They do matter so right now. In these times the Post we make on social media. If you want to have an inflammatory post, you need to understand that that inflammatory post is going to cost you. Maybe it's like smoking a cigarette. Maybe it gives you a little bit of an effect because you're getting off on the fact that he made an inflammatory post I know this better than anybody. Because makes them inflammatory post here and there or controversial ones right I try to keep it positive as I can, but every once in a while just like the rest of y'all I get frustrated. I fall into these traps as well. It's GonNa. Say something frustrating, or you're GONNA. Say You'RE GONNA show frustration I, should say via tweet via text via instagram. You have to understand that these things are going to bring stress that maybe you otherwise could deal without. So. What would be a way to work on that? One way to work on that is just to stop doing that. Try to be a little bit more positive what I would like you to ask yourself before you send a tweet, or before you ask a question or before you do something say. How does this help has hurt? Just slow yourself down. A little bit is a great way to deal with stress. Is this going to help me. Is this going to hurt me? Is this beer? Then I'm having at the end of the day. Really going to relieve stress is truly going to relieve stress, or is it going to cause more problems for you than you than you? As you're going to be more than you know, you're gonNA bite off more than you can chew. And that's often what happens is that these things are traps? The cookies, the ice cream the pizza the beer all these things they can be trapped. Sometimes they can be wonderful. That's the tough part. Is You have to be honest with yourself? When is this going to be a time to enjoy this I? Like to look at it this way. Is this going to really enhance? The situation at hand. If I really feel it's GonNa enhance the situation or feel like. Hey, this only happens a couple times a year..

America would know about you teeth. It was only because the rally was going to be today that they brought up June. He's responsible for most Americans, discovering June teeth. because. That is a great classic trump explanation man. But it's true. Did you see it's up on the webpage from a few days ago? This George Stephanopoulos clip from Sunday. the president. Move The rally to tomorrow, so it's not on June eighteenth. I swear to God this happened. You can see it up on the web page. Talk about how we gotta get your job back. We gotta get you back to work. We gotta put your life back in order That's the one thing that Cuomo just never ever bothered with, but I guess today will be the..

"Couple of disclaimers while I himself promotion. You can keep up with me and my website America's Sheriff Dot Com. Follow me on parlor. At Sheriff. Clarke is Clark with an e. on the longer twitter I quit twitter. I'm done with twitter I'm tired of their speech suppression, their phony rules that only attack conservatives. They're always lacking me out because I. Know. The line is ladies and gentlemen. I don't cross the line. But they nitpick, and so I went to parliament parlor is a conservative site. Smaller than twitter at this point, but it's growing by the way. I just reached my one hundred. South Thousand South Thousand Follower on Parlour. took me a while to do that to build it up ahead nearly a million on twitter. But I'm not so into the numbers there. It's just that parlors more dedicated to free speech, and I appreciate that so at Sheriff Clarke on Parlour. Get my book and read it if you get a chance. COP under fire beyond Hashtags of race, crime and politics for a better America. How appropriate is at book titled Today and also I may contributor on Newsmax TV. newsmax TV is the fastest growing cable news outlet out there right now. they signed beyond contributor several months ago on a regular show on Friday. Newsmax now, and then during the week on other shows other programs. Obviously been real busy the last couple of weeks on shows. All throughout the day at Newsmax. So it recommend that and Newsmax, the channel depends on what your cable service providers can't give the channel up to look it up. The last disclaimer is this. This is the mark belling late afternoon show. Mark has spent a long time. Developing his brand. Building his brand building an audience. Mark is good at what he does. He's a professional. He's entrusted. To me the keys to the Lamborghini. And his only requirement is this of me. It gives me freedom. Is only requirement, he says sheriff just don't run the Lamborghini into the ditch. Don't wreck the program. I think that's reasonable. The reason I mentioned this is that I understand that you all are marks Listener, do not my listeners. You tune in every day to hear mark belling. Mark took a day off. Graciously asked me if I would fill in I. Happily accepted so here. I am so if I say something that gets your undies in a bundle and to get all. I duNNo. Bothered by. Two things. First of all get over yourself. And secondly life's too short. It's not that big a deal if I say something that you don't like. Or tweak you in some way. Take it out on me, not mark. Right so fair enough. Anyway. On the program today we have a lot to talk about obviously, and and some of this most of it is stuff that's been talked about for the last couple of weeks since the Minneapolis police incident and the the riots that followed in the upheaval of American culture, a rule of law customs and traditions here in the United States. Keep in mind that we're in an election year. This is a lot to do with. If you think about the last time, this happened with all these rights in this upheaval. Twenty Fifteen Ferguson Missouri why election year the Democrats all in. On fomenting anger within the black community to try to. Excite. Or motivate black turn out in November. There's a sinister. Plot at work here and here's who I believe the the players are you have the liberal media? Is Nothing mainstream about him? You have the liberal media. C. N. MSNBC The New York Times. The Washington Post the LA. Times Chicago Tribune the Milwaukee. Journal.

"That's really more important than you can do this. You can't do visit an Obama and vice. President Biden never even tried to fix this during their eight year period. The reason they didn't try is because they had no idea how to do. Well that's a pretty good point when you agree on then. Well they didn't do anything for sure yes. That's going to be the theme of the debate in October if Biden can get out of the basement and actually show up that you guys were there for eight years. Why didn't you get into this done? If fighting brings up any problems or anything like that That's all the president has to say. You were there for eight years. Why didn't you fix it? You didn't fix it. You run the Senate for thirty years. You didn't do anything fixed then. Why would we trust you now? Joe Biden powerful remark. Senator made a very. Moving and eloquent speeches a son of the confederacy. This Joe Biden. Yeah! This is Joe Biden. Yeah. Yeah, that's the other problem. Joe Biden's got more racial stuff in his past than probably anybody from being a big supporter of segregation from the guy that past all these I can answer this debate. He's the guy that pets all these laws locking up everybody talking these speeches. He's talking about the predators. You gotTa Lock Them Up. He passed all this reform to throw everybody in prison. So I. Don't know how he defends. Then there's all this suffer. He was phrasing, a guy who's a ku-klux-klan guy who's then in the Senate praising the. I made a very. Moving and eloquent speeches, son of the confederacy..

"Another beautiful sunny day still closed here, but well. We got lots to get to. If you're in Connecticut, you're just about fully open today. Face to kicks in Connecticut. That means restaurants outdoors. Indoors that means gyms are open. That means a movie. Theaters are open who the hell would go to a movie right now, but that means Tattoo parlors are open so Now gyms are open. well, what what are they going to do? It's like every other treadmill or every other bike or something like that. would be ideas. You're sweating. Droplets are flying everywhere and those gyms. But See how that goes They're also talking about drive ins all over the place now a long island in phase. I can't figure these phases out face to everything's Open in Connecticut face to New York means nothing means you can get takeout food, and maybe if you stand across the street and they'll throw it to you, Joe Bartlett down there in South Carolina. Been Open no problem right no spike, no anything well. There's been a little spike here, but you know i. mean nothing to me. Nothing substantial I've been watching the numbers, and there's an cases have gone up, but no real increase in deaths so. Yeah I just attribute that to more people being here. Spike means if it's like a hundred cases a and then suddenly it's nine hundred cases. A day. Spike doesn't mean it's one hundred cases they now. It's one hundred sixteen. That's not a spike. It's pretty much the same thing, so the problem is in New York Mayor de Blasios everybody around him now revealing that he's completely lost, he's just clueless. He hasn't got a plan. He's like a young version of Joe. Biden doesn't aware he is what see what he's GonNa. Do completely befuddled Governor Cuomo. razor-sharp, he can you. What was briefings? The mind is always working, but he's a plotting something scheming. Always, it's never about you. It's always about him. looking good getting more people to watch the briefings these no reason not to you know I walk around Manhattan yesterday. I notice a lot of places have just opened I. Don't want to mention any names. I don't want anybody in trouble, but places that serve food have opened the doors and are people sitting inside a tables eating. And they just went and did. It wasn't even put a sign out on the sidewalk. We're back. Welcome back, so people are opening up whether. Whether the governor says so not the Mark Hotel one of our great hotels send out the notice. They're opening next week. It's a beautiful tele crush from the Carlisle. This John George Restaurant in there. That will not be open, but the hotel will open next week by I..
