Ok, Will Digital Vaccine Passports Work?

"Digital testing tracing apps on smartphones did not exactly pan out as some of us thought though. I have heard that these kind of apps are used more extensively in some countries than you might think. Ok though now what sort of odds would you give me that digital vaccine passports will take off. New york state has launched the first. Us vaccine passport app. Excelsior pass built on ibm's blockchain based health pass platform quoting usa today. The first in the nation certification called the excelsior pass will be useful. I at large scale venues like madison square garden. But next week we'll be accepted at dozens of events arts and entertainment venues statewide. It already enables people to increase the size of a wedding party or other catered event. The app championed by governor andrew cuomo to support the recovery of industries most affected by the pandemic is funded by the state and available for free to businesses and anyone with vaccine records or test results in new york like an airline boarding pass. People will be able to prove their health status with a digital. Qr code or quick response machine readable label. They'll need to download the accelerator pass. App enter their name date of birth zip code and answer a series of personal questions to confirm their identity. The data will come from the states vaccine registry and also will be linked to testing data from a number of pre-approved testing companies. The new york system built on ibm's digital health past platform is provided via blockchain technology. So neither ibm nor any business will have access to private medical information and entertainment. Venue will simply scan the qr code and get a green check or a red x. and quote.

"It's the first state to launch a sort of covid nineteen vaccine passport as in a digital pass that can be used as proof. You've been vaccinated against covid. Nineteen or gotten a recent negative test is not actually called passport. Though the state of new york launched what it calls the excelsior pass and starting this week. Madison square garden in new york city plans to use it with other smaller event. Venues and businesses expected to start using this tech soon. New york has partnered with ibm for this. And the governor's office describes it like an airline boarding pass so people can either store it and show their pass on their smartphone or print out the pass then venues or businesses can scan the qr code to see green check or red x. It's all paid for by the state and it's free for individuals and businesses there to use supporters. Say this is just another tool to help safely. Get the economy going again. And to save local businesses. State officials are also stressing. It's all voluntary private and secure for everyone involved. The tech is go on blockchain technology. Candidates Find It's Not Easy Getting New Yorkers To Sign Their Ballot Petitions During A Pandemic

"Anywhere in the city in the past week or so, you've probably noticed clipboard toting volunteers asking you to sign your name. That's because it's petition season. Each person running for office in New York City needs to collect hundreds of signatures to make it on the ballot. And there are more than 500 people running. W one my CI's Glen Hogan reports. I could you help get a candidate on the ballot for Manhattan Borough President Volunteer Rachel Pratt is collecting signatures in Madison Square Park. Do you think it helps get a candidate on the ballot for Manhattan Borough President Tire? You have registered Democrat in Manhattan? Okay, she's trying to get Kim Watkins on the ballot for Manhattan borough president. And it's tough going in about a half an hour. She's only gotten one person to sign. Well, I think I have to finesse my ass because I've got a up my game that passes another person, also collecting signatures and gets her second of the morning. That girl said. All right, I know what it's like. And you can use your own town values a sympathy signature. Not just anyone. Consign. You got to be a registered voter in the same party as the candidate running. And your address has to be in the district where the races but don't sign for two candidates in the same race. One of those signatures will probably get thrown out cold that has made this election season particularly challenging. I know it's a pandemic, and people have reservations about getting too close and having conversations more than 100 candidates tried to suspend petitioning The judge ruled against them. Last month, state lawmakers did lower the number of signatures required, but they also shortened the time people have to collect those signatures. Lincoln wrestler who's running for City Council, says he tested positive for Cove it right after collecting signatures, and Loree Sutton cited covert concerns about petitioning as one of the reasons she suspended her campaign for mayor. It's like ridiculous that I think may expect people to stop and sign things because, like I probably stop for myself honestly, if I was walking the streets, this is David Estrada also stocking Madison Square Park for some things. I miss. You mentioned Democrat Manhattan. Any chance he's collecting signatures for tally for Haiti, and Weinstein, a candidate for Manhattan. D Yet my gun for hire Yeah. So I just whoever pays me the highest collect signatures for basically honestly and it's all analog. No online petitions here just the serendipity of safely crossing paths with the right person with a clipboard. Thank you so much. Thanks for signing When Hogan W N Y c news form or on the elections

NCAA Tournament West Preview

"It's ncaa tournament time we had championship. Week was absolutely spectacular. You had a championship game. That wasn't so spectacular in america conference by the big twelve was tremendous big. Ted was tremendous. Because you know what those two leagues are tremendous all season. Long games aren't games. they're events the acc was anti climactic but great for josh passenger and the greatest shield in the history of life. The big east to me was phenomenal. I mean patrick ewing. Not only does he no longer needed credential again but he got into madison square garden and walked away with four games in four days and his team played like an old vintage georgetown team. Pac twelve stolen a bid which was really cool. Wayne tinkle's got it was who was on the hot seat. It was so cool is good coach. A good person attack boil. Who's another great guy still going tournament. So i thought championship week was absolutely spectacular. Your take oh. I thought it was great. I look. I'm gonna tell you houston's legit at chance due to their games including the championship game in the ac. That is a legitimate. I was happy that drake dot in. I was happy that twenty five and four guy in. I thought that was terrific. I love the fact that the drew brothers are in the tournament. The demolishing of creighton shocked the living in. Hell on me. And says i'm telling you i like when you lose guys mclaughlin aquino record and next thing you know man. What are you doing better. The next year matt pain and getting himself in the top four seeds after losing two guys eastern and harms but overawe a look championship. Week was the sec. Tournament was off the charts with the championship. Game and college basketball delivers it delivers every damn nights. Let's go to the west ready. Let's do it all right now. Let's do this number one seat. I was thinking what games in the upper half of the west. Are you looking forward to see. I wanna see what. Oklahoma can do eight nine game now. Maybe it doesn't matter because you're gonna play gonzaga. But i think this i think if you're gonna play along krueger team whether you're konso martyn missouri. Who has struggled or whether you're gonzaga. You know you're going to play a very very good basketball team. And i had them earlier in the year they can shoot it. They defend it. They play hard. I don't think they're overly talented and the kid to get something done but lon kruger is so good at dictating pace. That if i'm sitting here with gonzaga i wanna lesser coach in my second round game assuming that they win. What do you got. Well you know i actually. I think missouri can win that game. A jeremiah tells me he's going to have to go out guard on out on a primitive 'cause they're playing brady at the five and they've run them all over the place on the other side though rate mattis gutter guard that dude on the block to is become a good player control martin's team when they're older and more mature and her physical they are talking tournament. Think about what he did tennessee. So you know this is going to be really good game because you've got a tough physical team in missouri. You've got a team that attacks match ups plays almost four guards in oklahoma. I'm actually leaning towards missouri in this match up. Well you're going to be wrong and that's okay you can be. It's okay. I can be wrong. It will be the first time won't be the last time and you know that's right. I don't have either. We'll on from barry. I but i touched on that but also got to say tony bennett said that most of his team is in quarantine south. Now i don't know about you but that preston kid that plays at ohio university. Ooh yeah he can go and all of a sudden. You're talking about a team that wait a second. I know i know. Virginia's good. I know virginia came on. I know they ended up with the one seat in the acc tournament. But seth you're playing against a hot as hell ohio university team. A team led by jeff bowls. Who frankly he's the perga- guide ohio you because he loves ohio you. He played there with the with the shock of the mac. But when you're playing a team in quarantine sat that tells me they're not practicing. That tells me this is gonna be a hats. This'll be a good game regardless.

MSU Spartans... Presented by Rocket Mortgage?

"Michigan state has announced that its basketball team will now be called the msu spartans presented by rocket mortgage. You sit on a throne of lies. I would think so barat. it's true. Now here's the saving grace at. I believe in the way. I'm reading it. This is a story on. Yahoo is says the team will be called the michigan. The msu you know it presented by rocket mortgage at the breslin center. That's how they'll be known throughout the breslin center which is their home court their home arena so my guess rob is when near now announces a team. That's what he's going to call them at the beginning to gain when they come out for warm ups right before the game whatever. They're the msu sparks as presented by rocket mortgage. I don't expect that when they go elsewhere people are going to refer to them as that maybe they'll announce that before the game but obviously throughout the game everywhere you go. Call them the spartans or michigan state. You think i'm wrong. I mean there's it doesn't make it that much better but it makes it a little better to me. It's total nonsense. It's a allowed. Everything's not for sale. I'm sorry chris. I still respect the steinbrenner family. Chris for not taking the name. They could have put a name on yankee stadium on my right yes or no and made its montemar. Names right all right yankee stadium. How about madison square garden. Could it be very heels right. Could it be american express field reno. I mean they give me making money off of it and they won't do it. Can we have something. Everything's not for sale. I get it dan gilbert. Who was the president of ragweed and look is an alum. He went there. He loves the sports. He tried to hire tommaso to coach the cast. Chris i get the relationship. He's he's a spartan just beat the presenting sponsor when they when they make that announcement. You don't need to the msu sports presented by rocket mortgage. Why would you do that to your alma mater right. Well that's what i'm saying if it's anything but what i said right if is anything but okay well. We announced the team. You know we're announcing the starting lineup. The now star lineup. So the ms you spartans presented by rocket mortgage. But okay. i can deal with that. But if there you got jerseys now. And if that's what their official name is going to be elsewhere. There's a major problem. And i agree with you like and this is just this just shows the other greed. We talked about it and they're not paying players these deals. This is just a pity of the degree of this now rob. I'll even say this. I would've rather them. Just call them. The msu rockets michigan state rockets. Not is that this is ridiculous. This really is bad. And i just don't understand what all the money my god is it. Okay right don't get every nickel chris. I still would have been a sponsor right. There's tons of money probably just not as much maybe wide. I don't know how much is enough. I don't get it seriously. It's ridiculous like i say again. I'm betting that is just going to be announced at various times but not consistently

3 Reasons Why Big East is the Most Intriguing Basketball Tournament

"Is my real opinion. I think the big east tournament is the most intriguing one for for this reason. There's a handful of reason number. One villanova has no point guard now. Justin moore ankle the kospi's we just found out that justin. Moore's not going to be playing in this thing Twenty seven points per game between those two now. I mean the game from villanova as we know in the new iterations of the biggies has been dominant. They win the regular season. Big east tournament right over there still time and here still good enough to win at eight. So let's not get ahead of ourselves and count them out yet but it makes it a lot more interesting because it's like. Oh what house villanova congress because your best player yes. He's not playing. Yeah what what are the what's going to happen. They're seen hall saint john's. I'm looking at this game on thursday. That is like a. I don't know if it's a plan but it's play out for sure. Whoever loses that game doesn't that's intriguing creighton. The greg mcdermott situation. I hear you say loser leaves town man. That was really the we we know the greg mcdermott's situation they got bruin there but like they're they're they're working through. Whatever that is like xavier saver that is on the bubble. They'll they might be playing crates and crates trying to get some mo jo bags and butler had that one game against villanova where they realized life and then and then we get to the bottom of the bracket with yukon you. Let's be honest. Your own has slowly turned into the favorites and again this is not a companyman move. I know we have coach. Dan hurley on the show today but uconn in the you know the majority of the country it feels like they don't know who to look to to college basketball and therefore defacto we go to uconn right here. We are back in the big east for the first year. Back in madison square garden in the big eastern star seem to be a line if you're yukon though bula there

Wolves fire Saunders, hire Finch as new coach

"We've got a head coaching change in the nba. The timber wolves have fired head coach. Saunders but i. I had a game to play brian. Sanders was coaching against the guy. He replaced tom sibito of the new york knicks. Having a great season there is game. Went down to the wire. Karl anthony towns had shot in the post to try and take the lead with thirty seconds left over his former teammate. Taj gibson but it rimmed out on a rim in madison square garden. Where the ball. Just capterra women out on sunday and that was ryan saunders. Final quarter as head. Coach of the minnesota timberwolves took over for his late father. Flip saunders in twenty nineteen thirty four year old had a string of injuries to deal with and played many many close games and the timber wolves already have saunders replacement chris finch who was a raptors assistant coach. This season has been given a multi year deal by the minnesota timberwolves to coach them full time. It's a rare move to pluck an assistant from another team. Mid season to take over job just doesn't happen very often. Usually the team that fires a head coach just moves their assistant over for a while at the very least when the full job search can be done until the full job search can be done in the off season but they had been looking at chris finch for a long time in fact he interviewed in twenty nineteen when ryan saunders was eventually given the job and finch like his good friend raptors head coach. Nick nurse coached abroad for a longtime uk. Germany and belgium then moved to the g. league and then was assistant in the nba for a decade. And he's an offensive specialist who worked with james harden in zion. Now he'll have the chance to work with karl. Anthony towns anthony edwards.

How Lessons From Esports Past Drives Esports Future with Repeat.gg CEO Aaron Fletcher

"This audience. So Eric go through the companies you found it quite a few there are plenty of starts across this industry. What advice can you give to some one of the first steps of fouling their own Esports or gaming company that you wish you do when you were starting out darn raised before you have Mom don't do anything until you have markets it it's it's that's it. That's purely it. I guess there's two things and don't be a dick but the the biggest one is definitely until you have some formal Market 5th and you can find out if you go to market fit pretty quickly just talk to people ask questions find the right people finding users find those things find out how much they willing to pay find out if they're willing to basically walk or use your product find out all these sort of things and grow that first before you start thinking. Oh, this is amazing. This is going to work cuz I think there's there's and and then I guess the other one actually is learned from birth. Past experiences and a lot of people don't do that, especially with a t Sports because the history have a have a chat to someone like either myself or have a chat like don't talk to someone who's a consultant that's been in the year in in the game two years talked to someone who's being in the industry for twenty years because they will tell you a lot more valuable information than someone who's been in there for two years and only knows about the currency because the current scene it's all about raising this big money about raising this big capital and you don't get the history of like the companies like tournament.com the raised a hundred million dollars and went broke over six months. You don't have seats need a CDL or CTS. I think it is that raised a hundred million dollars as well and we're broke after a year-and-a-half. You don't have all of these kind of things and we're play verse was as an example before they became what they raised what they are now off and that that you kind of could find on the internet even though I know the history there and there's a lot of other companies like that that you'll that you you only get from the perspective of people that have actually been in the industry because people have a game Get it either scrubbing the internet or it's just hard to find anything that isn't relevant now absolutely agree. It's the same advice. I give to student journalists. I talked to quite a few classes about hey, what could you do any sports journalist? What if we want to get involved in this space? And the first thing I tell them is get to know the history of the space get to know everything that happened with Major League Gaming from 2002 to 2010. That's where the start get to the creedy sports Association how this developed in Asia and that will guide your accurate reporting on this space if you understand what happened long before you probably got involved in it that was the case for me cuz we got a school, you know, I was in the 2015 2016 range was like, oh massive Madison Square Garden League of Legends. This is crazy thing off you go back in time and you're like, okay, let's look at the Madden tour bus as like an example of where it's these things that happen is sports over the time that I think are really crucial job. Like understand how we got to the place where at today and then helped give you those guiding lessons to make sure that the same mistakes aren't made. Well MLG an ESL at two really good examples of understanding their Acquisitions why they happened what happened with the issues they ran into especially MLG with God Frank cuz they had a whole pile of litigation issues with God frag when they did their acquisition why they got acquired by Activision and wage. It's it's an interesting story. That's probably better for another time. But in terms of those sort of things and that history that was kind of built there is actually really important because getting a quiet is a skilled gaming platform different platform broadcasting platform any of those by a publisher is a huge problem from both illegal Nightmare and a whole pile of other things because the skilled gamer is 18 plus as well as the tournament system requires 18 plus or Parental Guidance cetera, et cetera. So it becomes a Minefield on those sort of things and then you've got ESL same thing going through their acquisition and the different times they are now with mods. This group and and the difference in the kind of the company structure cuz everyone says he s l and they see these companies and they're like, they must be making it a billion dollars and I'm like, yeah doesn't look like that. It may seem like that from the outside cuz they're doing these large events and they're doing these things. But in terms of the revenue is not driven as much as you kind of think from that. It's really driven through the Publishers. Yeah, if you're done if you're not the publisher gave and you work a t sport chances are the money is not flowing your exactly there's only a few Outlets the kind of work and I've been in basically every single facet of that because I used to run events with the young. I used to run a lot of those sort of things with them for a long time. Actually u c l e s w c w c g a lot of the events around those and running those Live Events is is great. But it's like a break even marketing cost. It's not a it's it's what you'll use to fuel income elsewhere. Not what you're used to make money lost leader marketing basically at this point. Yeah, exactly. That's it's a funny industry to be it especially as we look at where these Sports organizations are going. This is totally off topic. By the way. Just the I had em for this wasn't for a podcast but I talked to Jason Lake in Andy Miller Jason Lake complexity CEO Andy Miller NRG CEO for audience. I do you do that. They were basically talking about hey, we're going to make Revenue eventually with our religious the Publishers of Olives. That's that's what we're counting on to make money in the mean time. We're going to keep building our brand up in whatever way we can we're to keep trying to capture feds. But really we just need to log get to a point where Publishers need us to enter the game because that will bring fans that will bring the marketing there looking for and then the Publishers have to reward us for doing so and that's kind of just walk the biggest eastwards organizations in the world see this space right now and that's it tells a lot. I think it will you actually have a look at most of these Sports organizations or actually converting from competitive Play De comme Recreation almost all right, converting over to that for Revenue basis cuz I've talked to a lot of these guys you have come like you've got Team Liquid as an example of trying to push in the text side of things cuz we've talked to him a few times about what they're doing for Thursday. We also consulted with the guild who raised with David Beckham, or they paid David Beckham to re it was it was a debacle. It was a drastic they they they are doing a good job. I think they really heavily like ninety percent of the money that they raised is purely attack. It's not to do to build out the team and build out anything on that account on the arm competitive site is secured purely build out both the content side as well as a Tech play on them because of the end of the day all this content and everything that they're creating in these fans and these users they need to figure out a way to monetize them and monetizing them generally comes through like merchandise. It comes through tourneys to come home a brand deals. And unfortunately, if you're the best game in the world, it doesn't mean you have a massive following you may not be entertaining to watch. So therefore content creation becomes king for this and which dog And fuels Brands which in turn fuels everything else and like I just talking to so as as Consulting with IDC, I think like probably a couple of weeks ago. I was I was talking to them cuz they're doing metro sports at the moment and it was a pretty interesting conversation cuz they're one of the first companies that isn't Yuzu that isn't that they're doing it. They're doing Esports Revenue a very different way. So Esports Revenue right now is off late. It is how much so it's like one point two billion or something. It's basically nothing compared to the publisher revenues like a hundred and sixty billion. So and that's where most of the revenue from E Sports is actually going. So what they're doing is they're doing a bottom-up kind of approach and looking at all of these other things that are kind of skewing it. So right now Esports revenue is calculated with just brands that are paying for events and advertising and all the way around that around which basically whereas they're looking at it from the other side of things and they're like, look, there's all this gambling Revenue that's also generated on top of Like betting on these matches and all this this looking that's that's showing any sports revenue and you've got companies like skills that their revenue alone for skills is bigger than the revenue of every single e sports team exists in the world in his voice. That's

Just tell us the name of the animal or the title of the work that it comes from. Okay brendan this is for you next in the working group. We have a great dane who deviates from the breed standard. He's over five feet tall. The judge will never watch gate and look look at this. He's walking on hind legs. Phoenix Suns complete trade to acquire Chris Paul from Oklahoma City Thunder

"Right welcome back. Look who's here perk with us Stephen i'm going to start with you on this one. If the nets do get hardened do they need to win the title. This season having this type of talent downright without question. And i'm gonna tell you why because the pressure is going to be immense first of all your k. d. Obviously everybody's looking at you comparing you to lebron and stuff like that Lebron goes and he assembles a big three. Then ultimately you want up to him and went to golden state and gave the ultimate big three. Lebron sits up de a d. is now in. La so you go to brooklyn you got kyri and then you get a james heart so the pressure will be immense on him. This guy read because of all the things that max has titillated throughout the years and to a lesser degree kendrick perkins when you talk about the lack of leadership there kyri urban may have shown from time to time. He elected to leave cleveland. The go to boston. The situation in boston didn't work out. He goes to brooklyn the only place. Twenty games helped was an issue and all of that stuff plus. He made some headlines. That's an issue. And then you've got james hearted remember. James harden didn't want the white how houston Ultimately he didn't want chris paul in houston and then obviously even though again and kendrick perkins knows this far better than me because he has those relationships with these guys. In particular russell westbrook russell westbrook made sure to reiterate to me. Listen his relationship. With james harden is as is big tom their brothers and they're gonna always be brothers. We did not talk about basketball. Just a relationship that he has with james harden which also articulated over social media. I by the way his relationship with james harden they are brothers and they are tight but that doesn't mean they want to play together so as a result of that rests with westbrook is planning on moving on as a result of him. Moving on james harden is moving on. And so there's going to be some pressure to bear because with all of this money that harden and k. d. and career getting paid along with the expectations. Let's bring in the last element you in brooklyn. New york utah. You're even denver. You're in the mecca the media capital. Now obviously the knicks are in new york city madison square. Got it but we should all be allergic to mentioning championship protection at a new york. Nixon brett at least at this moment atop the faith man leon roads and we'll worldwide west but the bottom line is is blasphemous sacrilegious to talk championships. And and the knicks but brooklyn fall weighs less than ten miles is less than ten miles away. It's still a part of brooklyn one of the five boroughs and there is going to be are meant pressure on manse. If the three of them larry know why go give it their. Kp might be right about this guy at five in milwaukee we might see silly. Do some things we know. Lebron is at whatever but if those three assemble no one is going to be interested in any stupendous as to why they did not win after three guys. You damn right. They need to win the chip because the world the world will be watching. First of all brooklyn is even thirstier for a championship. And i think is a bigger deal than a team winning in manhattan in the sense that brooklyn hasn't had a championship in sixty five years. Since the dodgers left brooklyn in fifty seven but they want and fifty five to go to air like that. But the knicks. You're right it's been almost forty eight years for the knicks but brooklyn is the nets or the team in new york. The knicks don't even exist compared to the nets right now and let me say this. There is immense pressure for them. To win you're right stephen while they're together i'm here saying it doesn't need to be in the first year for example if hardened goes to brooklyn and they lose in the finals and a tough series to the lakers. A team like that. It's all right but they have to win while they're together. Even this year's lakers team. I didn't pick them because it's hard to just throw a team together with guys have been played together. Get all the complimentary pieces right. Get it all right to go all the way. We saw that with lebron and his return to. Cleveland went to a game six of course they had injuries on that team. But that's part of it is coming off the catastrophic injury and we saw it again a result before that when lebron showed up miami with the big three it some it takes some times a year to get it right with guys playing together so i would say while there's enormous pressure for them to win while they're together because k. d. if he's most of themselves even is an mvp caliber player so is hardened and kyri may not be an mvp but he's more than just an all star he's all star plus you have to. Mvp caliber players an all star. And then some you're supposed to win a championship to gather. I don't think it has to be in the first year. And i wouldn't say that it's the kind of pressure for example when katie went to golden state. It's like there was more downside. Like guys you have to win it. If you don't win a championship that sorry i wouldn't. I don't think people will be looking at this team like that. Sorry if you don't wanna chip you gotta get outta the east

Forgiving Yourself

"Hi everyone. Welcome to recovery. Happy hour where we talk about life beyond the bottle and what happens after we stopped drinking. I'm your host tricia. And i've had christmas decorations up including bringing nonstop pine tree scented candles since october twenty seventh. Thank you for joining me today. This intro topic was a very last minute thing but something happened to me last week that i thought you might benefit from it if i told you about it and that is forgiving yourself. I'm going to dive right into this. Is i've said before. I got sober in november of two thousand sixteen just after the trump presidential election so while that election was going on my drinking was at its worst. I was drinking everyday blacking out most of the time. I never knew what was going to happen. Once i had my first drink and i was in a deep deep. Shame spiral because. I didn't want anyone to know about my problem. I was obsessed with trying to make it. Look like i had my life together. Now when you quit drinking you get a whole year of sober firsts. Your first holiday season your first birthday. The triggers of seasonal changes in the weather sober sexting heartbreak stress. Cetera you know doing all these things for the first time without hall and after a full calendar year most of your i had been checked off the list but with the twenty twenty election. I was getting an unexpected i. I was experiencing my first presidential election without drinking but worse experiencing all of the triggers. That reminded me of when my drinking was really really dark. So when election day came this year couple of weeks ago i was nervous and i was even more nervous the next day as we awaited results sometimes when i have an anxiety attack which to be. Fair is very common for me. It feels like i'm pulled into a vacuum and sucked back in time to relive a moment from my past. Many things can trigger phenomenon in my brain but the day after the election this year was one of those instances all the stress and the nerves had the same flavor as the stress and nerves. I felt in two thousand sixteen and they triggered a total rerun of memories laced with shame self hatred confusion and the feeling of being physically ill every day in my anxiety attack. I relived with the worst of my drinking. Felt like. I happened to be in new york city during the election that year. I remember going to a concert at madison square garden. I remember trying desperately to keep drinking under control because my friend at the concert with me in recovery. And i didn't want him to know i had a problem. I remember ending our night early because out. Drinking the way that i wanted to drink alone was more important than visiting with my friend. I hadn't seen in a long time. I remember a handful of random bars. I don't remember leaving half of them. I remembered making friends with strangers under neon lights that i'd never see again except for in my endless stream of selfish on my phone the next day and i remember waking up every single morning feeling the same way feeling like i hated myself you know i was angry that i couldn't get this drinking thing right and i felt like a failure when i came to after this panic attack after reliving these memories i was shaking and not really sure how to process what i just felt but luckily i had therapy that night and talked about it with my therapist. She suggested doing more of the inner child work that i've been doing. But instead of going back to my child self go back to tricia in november of two thousand sixteen and work on forgiving her instead. If you go back and listen to episode one hundred and to know that inner child healing is a method of reconnecting with the traumas that we may have experienced as a child to connect some of the reasons for our adult fears are habits or certain life patterns when we begin to understand them. We can start healing them and for me this has been a lot of forgiveness work keno going back and imagining sitting with little anxious perfectionist tricia and forgiving her for all the things she was always shaming herself for. It's been a powerful exercise. So i made some time the next morning to try this same exercise with two thousand sixteen election era tricia. Here's what i figured out. There have been so many times. When i've looked back at my past and rolled my eyes at my decision making when i was drinking. I've called myself names. I've shamed myself a beat myself up for taking so long to quit. But you know what i haven't done haven't accepted the fact that i was doing the very best i knew how to do. With the time you know with those limited coping skills that i had no one taught me how to sit and journal my feelings without them. Being numbed by alcohol no therapists said tricia. You're going to process your divorce a lot faster. If you let yourself feel your pain. No one pulled me aside and said you're working too much. Maybe you could be kinder to yourself and not spend your few free hours of the day inside of a bottle drinking. It always worked for me. You know what. I was comfortable doing and even when it started working against me. I just didn't have the tools to know of any kind of alternative so in that forgiveness meditation. Last week i sat with twenty sixteen tricia and forgave her for just doing her best. She was sad. She was scared she needed someone to say you're going to be okay. It's not all your fault. I forgive you for all of it. And i love. You

"But how the clippers came to settle on Englewood has been more of a question. What happened behind the scenes and while they're building the new football stadium. Yeah. Right. And kind of make sense if you're gonna football stadium kind of have the entertainment area around there, you see a lot of metropolitan cities. Yeah. And that would really create this sort of critical mass for the region of two NFL teams there then fell network moving to the development around the football stadium. You put a. There at NBA arena with the team there. I mean, and then you have the forum nearby as well. It's a terrific concert venue. You really cooking then. So what's the problem? The problem is with the form. So the folks who owned the forum Madison Square Garden company, the New York based company they on the Knicks and the Rangers and at Tanah stuff the powerful their giant. They of course owned the form, and they were not happy that the clippers are pursuing an arena nigga would they alleged that the mayor had tricked them and to Seraing a lease for the land where the clippers wanna build the Serena the mayor denies this. But it's kicked off because if the clippers move now the forum loses concerts to the new battery. Yeah. Okay. Because you got to fill those empty dates. It's basketball team only takes up fifty dates year something like that that leaves three hundred ten some odd days, you gotta fill up or at least try to fill the forms. I know don't come here because we don't wanna lose our tenants. So after this project was announced in June. Twenty seventeen it ended up just kicking off a nasty nasty legal fight between the city of Englewood, Madison Square Garden and the clippers. There are a tunnel lawyers involved more than I can count. And as part of this people been deposed, there've been a lot of emails turned over during discovery all this kind of stuff that goes on with lawyers. You're just going toe to toe and brawl on it out usually doesn't involve companies powerful and as recognizable as Madison Square Garden, the clippers. And then you have the city that's on the cusp of a real transformation in Inglewood. But as part of that there was a filing in LA superior court in January of about eleven hundred pages of emails and other documents. They were supposed to be filed under seal that means that folks like you, and I can't see him unless you the lawyer judge in the case nobody else can see him. So they're supposed to be filed onto seal. They weren't why. Somebody just messed up somebody just messed up that simple. Like, I'm not a lawyer pretending play one. I have lawyer friends. So it's. Really simple. Yeah. So these documents were available for about a week anybody could download them and being a good reporter. I did. So and disappeared from the did, you know, or how did, you know? I mean, I think your sources, but what made you think that there's something there? I checked court filings every day. Oh, yeah. It's the part of the job, and I'm kind of the obsessive type. So there's a number of cases, we keep is on. That's one of anybody can do this your central computer and yellow through LA county superior court, and you see this and you see the name clippers. There's a few different cases related to the spat over the arena. And I check those those are among those. I check every day and night gender every scrap of paper because you never know when you're going to get Ted bit. That's going to lead. You a interesting story or help to increase our understanding and Morton community's understanding of what's really going on. So were you working on a previous story? Yeah. I've been following this and reporting on it from the get-go, and it's a fascinating situation because you add the Serena right across the street from the football stadium. And again, you're talking about entertainment destination that is maybe unrivalled. I mean, it's a. Big ill. We'll get this. Right. Somebody's supposed to put this under seal. So you may than fennel finale times, it doesn't see it. They don't do it this pops up and you start reading it. And what do you discover it's a gold mine of information. But it's information that had been turned over during the discovery process, and it primarily consisted of emails to or from one of the clippers minority owners guy named Dennis Wong who turned out was a college roommate of St..

"This is good. Todd gets out, this gets up. We're videoing the show you could've just asked me later for the phone. You didn't have to interrupt. I mean, I didn't want to be a bother, right? I just wanted to stop the show interview. The crowd had ends them to do homework. Have you have you thought about what adulting, first of all, do you think you'll be back in time for its second of all summer slim? No, that's not. Hey, tune in on Sunday guys? Not an England. Have you thought about what a Dalton castle entrance could potentially look like in April at Madison Square Garden? Oh, boy. Lots of confetti. Oh boy, environmentally dangerous with the amount of confetti, a lots of voice. Lots of one's okay. Take a look at them and the amount of people in this room now make each and every one of them a boy. Is that really your thought of just like just what I do, but a lot of it. Yeah. Me, but you know, dialed up to the bourbon. So have you eight, but but is that like when when that in the movie, the mummy where like the sand becomes alive, I want the sand grains to be boys the entrance that you win. But yeah, it's good, but it's actually that would work. But hey, does that become when that show gets announcing obviously sold out? Does that become a goal of like, I have to make sure if whenever I'm coming back and has to be by then. Yeah, it is exciting. That's the problem with all this great stuff happening with all in Madison Square Garden down spin and just about everything in wrestling. Be an awesome as I'm sidelined because I want to get excited about it. I want cert- preparing mentally like what would I do in the situation, but really all I want to focus on his getting back in the ring. First and foremost, it doesn't matter how or where I'm doing it. I, I just want to get better and I want to start performing again. That's all I wanna. Do you have no sort of time line? No, no, I've I've been set a date. Yeah. Nothing like that. Or doctor could do that. Like, I don't know why you would like you would just make up when you're going to be better? Doctors would. Lie and Sam. Good by this date, right? No. But I mean, have you been to a doctor? No. Okay. That's the issue. Yeah. Yeah, you know. But I got one of those like those operation boards, the tongs and the electric. So you gotta get it? Yeah. I I mean. mean, you got the gist of it and that's good. My cat needs my back once in a while. Yeah, I guess what about that? I mean, you're you're, you're a family. Man. Does the the lady at home when you get an injury like this, that is this the worst injury van wrestling? Yeah, I've been this. Yeah, for sure that does she go like tape up an ankle, right? You can tape knee and all that. I've been through all that, but she was very supportive. She's always been supported my entire career since I told her, I'm going to start doing this silly stuff and she she's been behind me ever since and then dealt with the the longtime have been gone. The no money I was making in now when I can't get out of bed and I'm mopey and depressed. And I just I'm, I'm just the worst be around, right? We're all thinking the same thing she has yet to divorce. So she does, but she now going like, oh my God, I see how dangerous this is. I don't want you to do that anymore. No, no. She understands that she has never once said you knew start thinking about a new career. She just keeps finding of. Keeping on me about doing the PT and getting back into it because she knows I'll be happier person where I'm out there and I sort life gets easier to. She knows how important it is to me so she she keeps me on track. And do the boys panic your boys that you come to? The ring went to? They panic when when when daddy leaves what's left after the boys? Gee, I don't. I don't know what's going through those tiny little minds. I mean, quite frankly, you don't have them around for their minds. Do you know? No, no, no, no. They must've been a world..

"Second off, it very clearly was not the first choice. That's just the reality. So who in the hell was and then who was the second and who was the third and who was the fourth? I don't know. I don't. I do not know, but I'd like to know I like to know why they didn't do it, and I would like to know for my own. So I so I can know this. I'm not going to argue with the fans on this. I will accept whatever they say. It would just smarten me up as a person. When did the fans start being wimps too. I remember when the fighters did it, but the fans would. They usually smell a skunk at the garden party. Well, we got a coward over there. We got a chicken over there that guy's got some bits, some big skills, but he's got no courage that used to be a thick. Now, the fans are whip to apparently you could just whip out of a fight. It didn't used to be that way. So when did that happen and how many people whipped out of this fight. That is the story line here and that is the message not the bulletin Eubanks getting their opportunity, good for them. Look, the fighters are going to get away with it as long as they can get away with it. And if this is the new thing and as fans, you guys are going to let them slide. If there's new ways out of fights and a and a guy can keep keep facing and keep courage move onto the next one, then fine, but don't come out. Don't be the people that that that that share that thought and then come out and want to insult the maintenance of Madison Square Garden. Don't do that. You're going to get what you want, and it'd be what to a bunch of guys that can pick and choose and say, yes and no one win, they can do it. That's what you're gonna get. And ultimately hope. Hopefully we can go back to six shows a year, and then everybody can can just go back to being happy again. But if you want to be able to see this form of entertainment, you want the ball to move forward. You want the sport in the industry grow, you want multiple promotions to people to come out. You want competition, you want to be able to do these things. We have to have some team players here. We can't always sit down and have. A proper negotiation. There isn't enough time in the day and less. We want to go back to six shows a year. The people of the top have got to be able to make decisions and get it done by text message or an Email, no back and forth. No fly in and sit down. No here how you're feeling, how I'm feeling straight up. Hey, boom, here's what it is. Here's the date. Here's the opponent right back. Yes. No, before I move onto the next guy, which for many people in this sport seems to be a cold and calloused way to do it and putting all the power in the leadership's hands and none in the athletes hands, but it's not at least I can. It didn't used to be. It used to be guys that were hungry for the opportunity that are still starved that they only get three matches a year and cannot wait to hear when that matches and would never resist to the opponent is, but it can't be both. They can't be. Let's all sit down and talk all the time every time every single time, something changes. It can't be that way unless you want to stop the industry in its. "Great point of course the rock scott brodeur you mentioned montreal minnesota of course has her brooks the statue of him outside the xl energy center the only thing i can guess and i guess i can ask some people to confirm this is just new york city's it's really difficult sometimes to get things done and you know where the garden is that breezeway what what do they own what's their property can they just stick a statue someplace and it's it's real if you know madison square garden you know around madison square garden really the only place i think you can legitimately put it would be in the breezeway but look how congested that is i'm not sure you can do it could they have put something up in the concourse the thing would madison square garden and i think this is really the stumbling block that you have is that it the the biggest star on the nixon rangers is madison square garden i mean that that's the selling point is the world's most famous arena all that and not just the knicks and the rangers but the boxing that's been there the tennis that's been there the concerts that have been there if you walk around the concourse when they when they arri imagined madison square garden the one thing that they wanted to honor was all of the amazing things that have happened there all the great college basketball the boxing mccown shirts and so they have like pieces of memorabilia from all the things that have happened at madison square garden since they opened it in february of nineteen sixty eight so it's not just about the rangers in the knicks so i guess the feeling is i put a mess statue up then i probably have to put a ewing statue up or i'll probably have to put you know a the butcher statue up or then i'd have to probably put something representing you know all the concerts that billy joel is played and then i guess it gets a little crazy so they have decided to kinda do it more on the memorabilia side but the statues make a difficult listen the bell centers all about the canadians right xl energy center is all about the wild so when you go through the statue go to vancouver right they've got the statue of roger neilson i mean these are the things that where the.
