Cosmic mouthful: Tasters savor fine wine that orbited Earth
"Researchers in France are carefully studying a dozen bottles of wine that have returned to earth after a year long stay aboard the international space station it's the kind of research one can imagine John Luc Picard appreciating the captain of the starship enterprise of TV Star Trek the next generation who grew up on a French figure why send a dozen bottles of the finest wines into space to see how the aging process is working and how we can we can influence the aging process Dr Michael labored as a space biology it's the only way to find out sort of the old of certain substances is to go under conditions where you can exclude these these working off this substance for example oxygen J. Apocalyptic Battle for Take-Out Dollars: Uber Eats Pits Star Wars against Star Trek
"A. From wondering David Brown and this is business wars daily on this Wednesday September thirtieth. It's hardly a stretch to say that the pandemic has been delivery services, best friend, take-out meals, or so much more attractive when we're avoiding other people that's meant a surge in revenue for leaders and Hungary rivals Uber Eats and door dash in the second quarter ubereats. Gross delivery bookings totaled almost seven billion dollars a jump of well over one hundred percent from q one. Before we all started eating in as a privately held company door dashes keeping a lot of data to itself but the number of people using dash doubled from ten million last year to twenty million now according to research firm Emarketer. Possibly, to Ubereats Chagrin Jordache became so ubiquitous that it was responsible for more than half of all US meal delivery in April. Wow. That's according to market researcher. Edison Trans last week linked in named DOOR DASH number two on its list of top fifty startups based in part on exuberant hiring plans. The companies expected to go public by the end of the year Uber eats holds about thirty percent of US market share despite their rapid growth neither door dash nor ubereats has yet turned a profit chew on. Then these rivals are employing ever more creative marketing strategies in their efforts to. Become or remain top takeout dog ubereats constructed a quirky ad campaign that celebrates competition itself a sort of Meta Mezei the latest ads featuring unusual rivalry between get this star wars and star Trek. They star none other than Mark Hamill Luke skywalker in star wars and Sir. Patrick Stewart's Star Trek's Captain John Luc Picard they compete ferociously almost grimly in games of air hockey and connect for. But when an uber driver delivers a delectable dish, each breaks the foreboding mood to politely thanked the driver in this Ad. Stewart. Armed with Cricket Bat and Hamill carrying a baseball bat in a dark empty warehouse. Tonight. I'll be eating a Veggie cheeseburger. On Shibata. No tomatoes. Tonight I'll be eating four cheese. Tortellini. With extra tomorrow. Tony. Stewart so it's come to the. Thank you. Proper. Part of what makes the spot? So amusing is that the argument tomato tomato is, of course from the classic George Gershwin. Song, let's call the whole thing off. But of course, neither UBER EATS NOR DOOR DASH is planning to call the whole thing off quite the opposite if takeout became essential in March, it's remaining. So in could see even more growth this winter, a second wave of the virus causes more lockdowns. In Uber Eats case, the company says the campaign celebrating rivalries already been a huge success in Australia Taiwan Japan, where it launched last year and ad featuring Kim Kardashian and a fictional Australian character pushed uber eats brand awareness in Australia two levels quote on par with McDonnell's the company told Ad Week the new Stewart Hamill Lads bring the campaign to the US in Canada but whether the cleverness of ubereats his ad campaign can steal away

An Introduction to Star Trek: Picard
"We're GonNa talk about everything we know about the card series to date and talk a little bit about Picard the character and provide even a little primer as far as if you want to go back in and reacquaint yourself with the character we can give view a few episodes to pick from and of course if you have? CBS All access. You have access to the full star Trek Universe at least as far as the small screen green is concerned. And I'm really loving the chance to get back in here and revisit some of this show that I haven't watched it's probably been ten years since my last. Tng Oh gee rewatch so. It's nice to have it fresh in my mind. Yeah so just to clarify busy. I mean this will be the first of a few prepaid card a podcast. We're doing I would say people looking for speculation as to you know who are these new characters were seeing. What do the trailer show? I think it's safe to say we'll probably touch upon it but I think it'd be better. It'd be covered in its own separate pot castle in a couple of weeks. This is more so podcast for like. Hey Do you know who John Luc Picard is. Do you remember win. Romulus was destroyed. Who the hell seven of nine this is? Sort of like a cannon catch up to get people either reacquainted or caught up for the first time with what exactly these characters are bringing that we know of before we move forward with characters old and new I guess to start I mean before we even get into anything with with what we know of Joel mccower and the characters around him he jesse talked about manifesting. This so what are your thoughts when you initially found out because there are obviously rumblings blinks about it Patrick Stewart announced. I think in Vegas a couple years ago that it was a thing. We got trailers over the course of twenty nineteen. So what did you think about this actually becoming a reality Eh. Well this is like every fan's dream I think there's nobody out there that puts picard at the bottom of their captain rankings. Out He is. The most is the most fun I think the most layered of the captains the I think he's definitely the captain where there's the most territory left to explore. And and I think the place we left him was so tantalizing like whichever playing you WANNA say. We really left him on whether it's the future. Richard Echoes that we saw in the final episode of Star Trek Next Generation. Or whether it's where we left off in the last movie back in two thousand and two and and Mike I know you were in kindergarten or something so you may not be that I. I was in seventh grade. Thank you very much definitely not in the mood to sit down for two hour long star Trek movies at that point but you know uh not not a not a little bit of a baby in the bork incubator. A little bit more of an adolescent. That's an all right. All right fair enough. You knew the Star Trek existed in was a thing exactly. Yeah and I would say that at that point. That was also so what that was when we were nearing the end. I think we're already a couple years removed from the D. S. nine voyager double feature creature feature so ah it definitely was like star. Trek was in the atmosphere but considering that I was born during season three of next generation I can't say that Picard. Even from Star Trek Perspective was top of mind for my twelve year old brain. It's true and I think twelve is probably also the wrong age to start formulating your final star trek opinions. Even if you do grow up with it. Yeah that's very true unless maybe if you place my memory in a satellite that allows it to live out for the next thirty five years really formulate my thoughts on him. Yeah Yeah Well I love I love it. We when they play fast and loose with the human consciousness as we'll talk about when we start breaking down some of our favorite card episodes I think that will it became apparent. Yeah I mean this. I can't believe we're talking about. There's like this is crazy because not only is this a star Trek nerds dream come true but it also at least from what I had heard for a while Patrick Stewart got to the point. Where like he was didn't even want to acknowledge Picard? Like there was a rumor. I I think in Hollywood that like. Hey if you're working with Patrick Stewart on a project don't mention John Luc Picard of the next generation. Because he won't be happy with it. I think for a while he felt like actually actually bit contrary to your point. He felt like his character's journey had come to an end. He felt that book was closed. But I guess he's been giving interviews obviously in the past year and he said that getting to experience how much the next generation specifically meant to a hole for lack of a better term generation of people. I think touch them in a way that made him genuinely want to revisit the character which makes me happy and from what I've seen in terms of all the preseason press he's been doing he seems to just be having the time of his life life which makes me very happy. It's not necessarily dragging Harrison Ford onto the set of the force awakens. And you know making him go through the motions again. This is someone who is genuinely invested. Did in going back to the character are living in an era of peak nostalgia. I feel like everything is a reboot of everything nowadays Yeah I think. I think you're right about Patrick. Stewart kind of wanting to distance himself from card for a very long time and I think even at the point when he began playing card. I think I think the character played by Alan Rickman and Galaxy Quest. We all agree. That is kind of making fun of Patrick Stewart to some. Yeah even though he's supposed to be I think the science it's officers. so He's more of like the spock or type. I think the fact that this is this like like you said this. This master Thespian. WHO's been beleaguered to have to give off all of these over the top lines and also SCIENC- terms that don't make a lot of sense and repetition? That's just been what we all imagined. Jamais Patrick Stewart was thinking through. So yeah I mean it's very clear. What sort of his perspective isn't that also reflected in the character as well? We'll get a bit into it but obviously popcorn a huge departure from a captain like Kirk who had experience from the original series. And I think that's very very much due not just the different natures of William Shatner and Patrick Stewart in terms of the way they just sort of compose themselves. I think it's also it's a difference between tween how seriously the show took itself because I think star trek the original series probably didn't necessarily take itself super seriously as it was being formulated plated. It's very imaginative. Show to be sure but I think there's there's always like a little bit of self awareness and then I remember I was very young when Star Trek the next generation premiered and I remember being struck by you know little eight year old me watching this show thinking this takes itself much more seriously and it's kind of. It's a double edged sword because I think next generation was able to explore some themes that original series series star Trek attempted to certainly was groundbreaking for its time. But there's a lot more gravitas especially the early season episodes episodes where they're really trying to feel out exactly how serious they could be in the swing in the wrong direction a few times and I think you get you get this starship led by this very serious captain at times like I think picard strikes me as someone who's he's much more even tempered and he takes his position position like he's having a lot less fun in the very beginning at least yeah. It's sort of like this is a very loose sketch. But he served the bird to Kirk Ernie right where he definitely seems to be a bit more like fun free shirl ago sleep with some Orion women and look we'll definitely get into some adventures that picard had both romantically frantically and otherwise. But I totally agree with you. He walked in like vary by the books. He's very good. There's a reason why he has a maneuver named dafter him when he had with the previous starship that he had worked for but he seems someone who like you said was a very sobering presence and I think that really you not only set the tone for the ship but also for the show

So I'm looking at this there is the buckets open Well or net he did use some stolen credit cards away and identity theft but I'm like thirty four years for crypto mining well turns out turns out as we know crypto mining can take up a lot of resources you and GPS and things like that well he ran up a five million dollar bill now here's my question at what point did did not have to finally say hello Ho Ho Bro the actually Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho crypto broke a yeah you know after one million dollars he's good for it two million dollars and we'll get them on the flipside four billion dollars you know I know his cousin he'll be good it's fine the five million five million dollars they finally put the hammer down and said Oh that's a little too much oh my God some five million dollars so here's the fucked up thing minimum sentences thirty four years in prison while yeah updated twenty twenty years per wire fraud count and ten years each for access device fraud counts and things like that and aggravated identity theft aggravated identity theft not even passive identity theft he's he aggravated the identity theft to steal his credentials but man this guy's screwed he's only twenty nine so well I hope he gets to go to Barnes and noble in a few books before he goes to L. because he's not going to be using the computer for a long time or you can just read that Jeff article in the Atlantic that should take about five six years yeah that'll knock a bunch of his sentence you might even get some extra time served for that one that's right I'll big big money I've found a nice article how much facebook has to pay in fines and settlements this year so if facebook agrees to pay all the fines and settlements which of course is far from likely how do you have to agree oh thank you for your fine I agreed to pay your fine I'll go to court and their fight it and arbitration they tried to knock it down and I'll pay well how about we make a deal and I'll pay you this instead of that Cetera et Cetera but if they did pay them all around out it'd be five over five billion dollars which is roughly seven percent of its sixty nine billion in expected earnings so not not chump change right but one of them is five billion dollars he's already so the extra the extra ones are only one hundred and fifty two million eight hundred fifty three dollars and forty seven cents including a forty seven dollar fine from Russia forty seven five billion dollars some all of a sudden five hundred million dollar finding in there doesn't seem all that much does it yeah really it's like Oh man that's chump change with them really kind of is starting to add up though when you get to seven percent of your expected earnings it's it's not nothing it's not enough.

"WHO's to blame welcome to grumpy Gigs Jason Filipo and I'm Brian Shaw Master. Alabama trump you're you're a bad case study you trip over everything that's true that's true I mean how many times have you screwed up your legs in the course of this guy two thousand sixteen for the show something we can make fun of and speaking of Amazon this whole thing is just getting some you'd Overrun Bloomberg they have have an article called Amazon workers may be watching your cloud cam home footage and I would like to point out that the actual url has the title that they originally went with before they started Ab testing it says is Amazon watching you cloud cam footage reviewed by humans Out they were they were playing around with some changes law there but Amazon workers may be watching your cloud footage if you tell them they can which is sire if you say yes then they will yeah this is the whole stories about people who opted into have their video reviewed because something that wrong all right and even further on the article it says in despite Amazon's insistence that all the clips are provided voluntarily according to two of the people the teams have picked up activities homeowners are unlikely to want shared including rare instances of people having sex I'm sorry but I know people and there are a lot of people out there who liked to share videos of themselves having sex and especially if you come home and you find maybe I don't know your wife in the gardener having sex I would be sharing that foreign lied just to embarrass her because she's with the Gardner and not me but anyway yes people are out there people are you know they like to do things like that it is not uncommon so it's not surprising and it goes on to say clips containing inappropriate content are flagged as such then discarded so they aren't accidentally used to train the AI innocent so here's what I'm sorry why don't you train the fucking a eye on people fucking because of your content a big part of life you could turn up the cameras Oh my God I'm so sorry I did not mean to see this in turn off the cameras you know that actually be a feature not a bug in an Amazon spokeswoman such clipper scraps to improve the experience of the company's human reviewers but she didn't say why unsuitable activity would appear in voluntarily submitted video clips because people are people and they like to watch your have people watch them fuck that's the way it goes it's human nature anyway before this all becomes a follow on episode maybe we should get to the news too late in the news Well since we're back in the news we're still doing some more follow up because there's so much this week Tim Cook has go back and they have re removed the the Hong Kong protests a map live him yeah they killed it again now tim has come out defending the decision which is interesting he's he's not very happy about it but he said that Apple has received credible information that the APP is being used or get individual officers for violence so if it ain't how credible is it honestly yes he's he's stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one but everybody is right now you know companies are are struggling to figure out how to deal with Hong Kong and the China situation because you know China's a big market and nobody wants to lose that market but he Hong Kong Got Democracy Yeah I mean it did you hear about the blizzard story this week now the Lizard News Oh man this guy had one of their tournaments for hearth stone and he was doing an interview after the show with to like youtubers and he started talking about you know he was bad mouth in China about the Hong Kong the thing and apparently the to host dove under the desks wouldn't be seen talking to him and blizzard actually like took his winnings away banned him for a year here from playing in the tournament for having opinion yeah because basically say that you know the rules of the game say that you know you can't use it as a platform for your personal opinion. You know guns don't do interviews with people that's that's the thing it's like it's they kinda overreached on that one but also pretty damn big looking for them and I can see how they got strong arm into doing it yeah well we're seeing with the NBA right now to it's pretty crazy right now yeah yeah and it's it was really funny is like there was this whole Oh you know like boycott blizzard thing going on I'm like oh I just installed my pc I should make sure starcraft up to date there's me for being associated by your it's an eight man that was my youth now i WanNa know I just WanNa play my games leave me alone my life for IRA motherfucker I wanna kill some things but uh-huh well we got some Some more interesting news happening with Wall Street and tech now a post mates which is inexplicably valued at over two billion dollars considering it's just a bunch of people in cars delivering food staples and whatever else it was expected to go public this year but they recently told appeal advisors that they are delaying their initial public offering Doodoo market conditions marketing. Yes well what we're starting to see is Wall Street is starting to turn earn against Silicon Valley finally maybe they're actually listening to this show who need these companies are not profitable so why are they going public and they're valued way too high as we all know of the thirty two tech companies that went public in two thousand nineteen they have only appreciated in value by an average of about five percent according to Renaissance Capital was tracks IPO performance two thousand eighteen it was thirteen percent and twenty seventeen ninety four percent return rate so the we're hitting the bottom of the barrel of these companies and this it's the ones that don't have good business has plans and it's the ones that aren't profitable shocking we actually got some post meets delivered yesterday not by us because I won't sign up for the service but one of our friends knew that we were sick here down with the flu so they sent us some some chicken soup and grilled cheese fries from Jerry's Deli well Jerry's Deli is a long way away from US 'cause the one by US closed it the soup was cold sandwich was soggy the fries were just rubber go so still haven't gotten a good delivery food service to I don't understand why people use these services all the time because the food there's only one route two types of food that really work well for delivery and have always worked well for delivery Chinese and pizza that's all we ever get here Chinese and that's the reason for that works for delivery not much else does burgers and fries delivery your Moron yes seriously and the Nice thing is we get so much Chinese and pizza that I'm friends with all the delivery so when I call them they put my stuff to the front and I sorta got there they have to be in the car before I order for the cooking because my Chinese guy gets here in seven minutes they've got trained ai that knows before you know that you're Chinese right I forgot that's right they use my shadow profiles like he could use a moog I pan right about now damn that actually does sound good anyway yeah oh here's the way the whole point of this thing was when when the post meets delivery it up it's like you know here's for here's for my roommate's name and I didn't order post mates I'd heard my ring doorbell go off to someone at the door so I go in the house and she's like did you order post mates I don't know and Oh and then she's like Oh maybe somebody else's you ran out because she shuts shoved him away he's like we don't we didn't order this we don't know what it is and eventually found out her friend bought it for but you can't give like a note to say this is from so and so so somebody's just randomly shows up at your house with a bag of soggy food that you're expected to eat that you don't know that's bad upset if you can be eating that food you don't know who's out to get you yeah that's true friend probably shoulda texted yeah yeah there's like present on the way yeah heads on whatever coming in cold yeah because he he honestly thought that there was one like two blocks from us we'd gotten hot and ready to go but they closed six years ago but apparently nobody updated website so anyway you can't you can't five a cold grilled cheese we found no no you cannot no I put it in a valiant effort but there was no coming back man there's no coming back so we mow has sent out an email to its customers in Phoenix saying buckle your seatbelts baby driverless cars are coming to your neck of the woods that's right yep they are going to be fully autonomous in Phoenix coming soon they will have an employee in the car Waymo for a while just you know check things out but they say that that's going to go away at some point and these things are going to be fully autonomous at some point yeah it's eight point we'll see I think they're the closest from anybody envy no phoenix is still pretty good spot to do it roads are big and wide and and I've just got to watch out for the random person walking their bike across the street in the middle of the night but what are you gonNa do there when are you gonNa do we'll speak a buckling your seatbelts. I've got to re long form articles that I found in the Atlantic that I really enjoyed this week and the first one is called technology sabotaged public safety and it was really interesting it gets into the you know the fact that you know we we have all these innovations that are great for the public good such as seatbelts but then we have these technologies Uber lift etc are where we just for whatever reason societally we think we don't need to use the safety maybe it's just a short trip maybe whatever but there have been numerous studies that said that people in Tax He's don't tend to buckle their seatbelts up post people are dumb those people are dumb which you know it it was always kind of a fringe case but with the explosion of Uber and Lyft in everybody taking rides and other people's cars there are tons and tons and tons of people now that are always writing these cars and not buckling their seat belts so stupid and the article goes into multiple different things like smoking was was going down and then vaping came around new technology that that said well you know we don't have I it's not as bad for your lungs and smoking is actually on the rise if you consider vaping smoking now so all these different technologies have kind of come along and given a given lazy humans a back into bad habits and wiped away all this public safety stuff that we built up over the years it's crazy it's really fascinating article yeah here's anything about vaping since it's going to be banned everywhere probably fairly soon that smoking is GonNa be back on the rise because what have they done they just gotten a bunch of kids addicted to nicotine gene and now they're gonNA take it away from they're going to Jones and then they're gonNa Start Smoking Yep three I think you're exactly right I think we're GONNA see a rise in smoking again and the second long-form article that I read was Jeff Pisa's Master Plan also over on the Atlantic now this article was so long and at points got Sir oh dry it took me four different sittings to finish it I'm so glad you read it because I pulled it up and I was ready to take one for the team and I'm just like you know what it's probably ah I've gotTA seriously think about my Amazon strategy particularly as we slide into the holidays this article scared me so much about the amount of power and control that one person Jeff Bezos has right now you know we can be scared and worried about Google we can be scared and worried about all these other companies I think the number one thing we need to be worried about right now is Amazon as you go through everything like he controls nearly forty percent of all ecommerce more products searches are conducted on Amazon than Google the Amazon web services controls almost half of the cloud computing industry forty two percent of paper book sales and a third of the market for Streaming Video Amazon it's insane insane and it's terrifying Anna County really just.

"So I will be canceling my CBS all access pass until discovery and Joan Luc Picard comeback and the cure finally announced their big festival here in Los Angeles. This is a bit of local news, but too bad. They're my favorite band. I'm pretty excited about this. They're gonna do something called the Pasadena daydream festival, where they'll be playing with the pixies deaf tones, mog. Why throwing muses and couple other bands. Tickets go on sale this Friday, I will be there. I would I, I don't know because I like to out of the ten you know, look, let me let me, let me explain to you. Why you buy these tickets anyways, we're all okay. We don't go to day-long festivals anyways. We'll miss all the traffic. We're gonna show up late. We're only gonna show up for the pixies and the cure. What's really, really funny about what you just said is. That is exactly what I told friend of the show Fogarty on slack. The other day when I said, Tim, this link, I'm like, you know, I just gotta find out in the pixies go on, so I can show up. Don't have to get stuck in traffic. Get their watch. The pixies watch the cure, and then bug out. Exactly. I'm not going to stay outside all day and get sweaty. And after by overpriced hotdogs and things like that. I, I wanna see the pixies I wanna see the cure. That's it. So me too. So that is my plan. And I my plan is if I can't get VIP that I just don't go because I want VIP you can get VIP, but they're pretty price. That's three hundred bucks. So that's one hundred fifty bucks, a ticket for each band, that I'm going to say, but I still have never seen the pixies, and I have seen the cure, but it was a truncated set. And those are the two bands that I will, I will pay that much money for I will sell a kidney to go watch the cure in the pixies play live from VIP vantage, point, whatever that VIP might be I looked, I looked at the, the map, it looks like it's decent so okay. All right. I'll be buying that as well. And I have a podcast recommendation, I have lavar Burton reads. So I had an interesting day yesterday. I went and spent my morning with lavar Burton and before doing that. I went and checked out his podcast, where he reads short stories and these are short stories that he picks personally that he loves. And there's two things about this. The short stories he picks are fucking amazing. He's got a great for, you know, great Sifi short stories in, in fantasy short stories and things like that. The first one I read was a or listen to was Neil Gaiman story that he read, which was just awesome. And then I got to meet him and hang out with him while he was interviewed for the Jordan harbinger show. Right. What an amazingly smart end just awesome. Dude, he is. I mean I can't even explain it that he was. He was so much cooler than I thought he was going to. I mean I met a lot of celebrities. And I'm always, you know, trepidation when I go, and I'm like a gutter. They're going to be an asshole..

"I didn't like the fact people are saying that he was better than my cousin William Shatner who again, I've never met. He doesn't wanna life, but the point is it's family. I didn't like people saying he was a better caps and captain Kirk with that being said, Jean Luc Picard is awesome. All right now, couple points j. so I remember that Connex seen it was amazing. You know the swordsman they're kind of fleeing around side side doing some cool stuff. Indiana Jones looks at him kind of size. Like really, we're doing this and just pulls out his gun, shoots them that does not sound like a fast draw to me. And by the way he didn't deploy his weapon. I the swordsman deployed his weapon. I Indiana Jones like, oh, you're about ten to fifteen feet, maybe more twenty feet away from me. I just don't want to do this. I'm gonna. Pull out my gun and shoot you. It was not a fast, like console, the s type of draw and shoot kind of thing also when he was facing those people and he shot did that really close shot lining up, shooting him once. So the boat went through all three people kinda like deadpool style. That was also not a quick shot either that was very skilled shot, but he had to line them up. You know what I mean? You had to actually take a little yet to aim. It wasn't just like gun shoot, and the accuracy is there. It was not the same thing. Okay. Now, with that being said, let me get to my point number three because it actually ties in with something Jay said with, you know, fighting point number three, I call it captain Kirk patent-pending bad, assery hail, yes. Okay. So in case you don't know, captain Kirk is one of the most bad ass fighters in the history of science fiction. And I think I know why his fighting style has sometimes actually been made fun of and mocked by those who really just don't know any better. They think he does his trademark judo chops and. Hammerfest. All that looks so funny that would never work while I'm here to tell you why they're anything. But funny. In fact, crystal talking to you, I take having Kurt is one of the most lethal combatants ever due to the fact that he can take what most consider silly fighting move and make it work. So effectively in a fight, let me put this into perspective and context guys, not too long ago. There was a cage match featuring a very agile fighter by the name of Anthony Pettus. So one particular fight, Anthony pet is pulled off. What is now referred to as a show time kick. It's a maneuver where he jumps in the air bounces off of the cage fence wall with one leg and with a foot of that same leg, he kicks the opponent in the face that, you know, this is something that was crazy when everyone's was a highlight reel thing on ESPN. It was just insane. No one thought this would ever work, but he made it work. He took something that everyone thought was ridiculous and made it work and made it look good. Now, this demonstration martial arts mastery blue every everyone's minds so much that. That he was actually instantly put on a ways cereal box and I'm not getting by the way. He was actually on the weeds box of cereal for awhile an enemy fighter would Anthony Pettis did that one time is something captain Kirk has done hundreds of times during his fights. So here's just a few of his insane fighting techniques that really have no business of working, but somehow somehow are extremely effective for captain Kirk. Okay. Now remember, I've got background martial arts may the whole thing, and my mantra with all the students. Everything is if it doesn't work, don't do it. And until that move actually works in a fight, I just dismiss it. And then if I see at work, I'll see like, okay, let me see if I can pull it off. So here's the deal. So here's one technique capping did it's called the rolling sweep. So here are the steps. Listen carefully. Number one, assume the fetal position..
3D Printed Cylinders Tower Over Mars Surface in Latest Design
"Nasr's three d. printed habitat challenge has seen several companies now competing for a high honor to design the first habitats for humans on the moon. And even Moore's using three d. printing, these competitors have proven their ability to create structures such as cones cylinders and beams. The most recent phase of the competition takes things to a new level by asking the teams to present their ideas for entire structures. Lot of the ideas offered thus far have been low dome like structure, some partially buried in the ground, but a space factory. The second place winner of the most recent competition round has something a little bit different in mind. Marsha short for Mars habitat features, tall, Celinda, Rickel structures that resemble along gated eggs, optimized to Hindle internal atmospheric pressure and structural stresses. They're quite different from earth dwellings which are designed to handle mostly gravity and wind. The ground level of each Marsha structure has garage that contains external systems and exploration activities with a supporting wet lab above that is the main hub with thirty four square meters of joint dry lab and kitchen. The third level has individual cabins sanitation pod and a hydroponic garden. The fourth level is a recreation and exercise area and features a bright water-filled skylight. Each building is made from two shells with the space between them acting as a light. Well, the reason so much work is being put into developing methods and materials for construction on Mars is that it isn't realistic at all to consider bringing materials from earth. So everything must be fabricated from the materials readily available on the red planet or the moon to that. End space factory is developing assault fiber, reinforced p. l. a. with the basaltic stranded from Moore's rocks and the p. l. a. harvested and processed from plants grown on Mars. Whenever humans do get to the point at which colonizing Mars is an imminent possibility. NASA plans to send robots ahead to the planet together materials and create three d printed habitats so that they're ready for the people when they arrive. The structures may look alien from the outside, but on the inside they appear comfortable and livable. The fact that they're built vertically means that there's no need for a robot to travel across an unknown surface to build them a stationary Rover with a telescoping arm, builds the structures in its place. NASA has worded AI space factory almost twenty one thousand dollars to further develop their project. And of course I'll keep you updated here on your weekly tech update.

It does thing where it gets the commercial break, aired on broadcast rights, a very that tempo of like five, six, eight minutes. And then there's an ad break, right? Everything's set up. Well, you get to says, do you want to watch one interactive ad or three regular ad? Oh, wow. What so you click the interactive when it basically I don't know. I guess it's like they're happy that you clicked on it. And then at the end, you can click something for more. Information on the car that you're never going to buy, but it was just weird. And so you know what I always do is just get it on the DVR and then fast forward through everything and they're starting to rerun these things now. So it's endlessly amusing to me that people are still having DVR things. Fast forward the commercials. That's that's hilarious to me. Okay. Run running so long. So let me pitch my last. My pick here that is. I'm sure you guys probably heard the news that Patrick Stewart churning reprising his beloved role as captain John Luc Picard in a new Star Trek series. I just about died. When I heard this talk cited, I was on close personal friends with Patrick Stewart's all that on tweeter. We have photos together I can. I can prove it to, you know, it's it's not a photo for Madame toussaud's. He was there you the real person and I have my my arm on him. I don't know if you caught that Lewis actually put my hand on his shoulder, which I must've just done instinctively. What I look at the picture, hindsight Kip believe you let touch surprise you slap my head. He doesn't know me. I have my hand on Patrick Stewart solar. Insane. Anything. I wouldn't let me touch you. On hand me sir. Where did he get that fencing sword from anyway, the Star Trek, the next generation was one of the most beloved shows from my youth. I watched probably all of the episodes in the entire seven years. It was on television, and it's interesting. John Luc Picard took on a father figure role throughout the series, and that's kind of how I thought about him. And I'm sure I'm not alone. People who watch that show when they were younger, probably thought about him as a father figure. They touched on all these difference real life scenarios. And it was he had a relationship with Wesley crusher who whose father had died. So he had like this fatherly figure role towards Wesley crusher and I was about the same age as Wesley crusher maybe a little bit younger, and so I just have this great love for Gianluca card and that's series and I never thought I don't think anyone saw this coming that he would ever take on that role again. I mean. He's huge AAA actor. Now he's an all these big movies and for him to come back and do a a new Star Trek series reprising John Lee Picard in life. After the next generations, it's going to start know sometime after he is not captain anymore and just follow his life. I don't know. I don't know how they're gonna make that interesting, but I'm interested to see what they do, and I just never thought that would ever be something that would happen. And so it totally caught me off guard and I was just, I mean, giddy they announced the news last week I've been getting since then. I can't stop thinking about this. That's how excited I am for. What about the missing? A new. There's a, there's a show called Star Trek discovery, which is also on CBS all access. So if you're interested in Star Trek, these two shows are only available on their app CBS all access. They're not showing it on network television..
