"Off site and get the intercept. And that way you know watching these two guys play. Remind me of football was played in the early two thousands when the defense was led by middle linebackers in the communication and their ability to stay on the football field. Come with that hit stick. Rc why does your guy from lsu tell you any football fan of watching. The games can just see. He is all over the field. Listen listen you look at it tyra matthew. Who's just extremely intelligent right. He understands what he's going to do. But are we talking about devon white or thomas white seven hundred. He just wants to talk about you. All day i was reading. I was reading outline. And i was saying i got confused now. We look at different white. I think this is a dude. That's been the star since he came on campus. And you think about the two interceptions. He has last week in the fumble recovery. Finish those plays like derrick henry. He's do that is out for blood and listening to him post game. he's not done. You saw the way he was talking about todd bowles and the way that he had them prepared the fact that he was going to hunt he was going to destroy. I think those.
Georgia names Josh Brooks athletic director
"Josh brooks who just recently took over for greg mcgarity as a new athletic director at the university of georgia where he had previously. Been the top assistant josh. First of all congratulations and thanks so much for coming good afternoon. Any thanks for having me fall. It's great to have you and you know. This is one of those jobs that all aspiring administrators want to have the especially working having. You got your masters there after going to lsu and working under greg. I'm interested in what it was like to be his opposition and ultimately to to move in as he retired well thankfully greg's been a great mentor from me especially these last few years. He's really giving me a peek behind the rope as a services number to give me a chance to be a part of those big decisions really see you know what he goes day basis how he makes those decisions. He's letting me sit in for him and eighty meetings Whether it be on campus or in the sec. So i really am thankful to greg for the opportunities. He's giving me these last couple of years. That have prepped. Me for this day. And i think combined with that with my knowledge of institution haven't been here. Ten plus years has really served me well and made me comfortable to sit in this chair on day. One genesis has been quite a year to be an administration that there was a time many many years ago when a lot of a lot of former football coaches would move into that position. I'm not saying it was ceremonial but there was usually someone underneath. Who did the heavy lifting those days are over. These are tough jobs especially coming off of a a difficult and challenging twenty season. What does it look like just short term to try to for all of us to get out of where we been from this pandemic and to start seeing some sunshine again. Yeah hopefully you know. We're all tracking the numbers. And we're hoping that that we're at that peak point right now coming out of new year's and knowing that the vaccines are starting to be distributed but you brought them interesting point about former football coaches or former coaches moving into the role and now primarily most or came up through administration. There's not a lot of eighties have actually coached There's a lot these who played but not who've actually coached so. I think that gives me interesting. Take that. I've been on that coaching side. Being football off-spinner assistant coach for number years. It's given me another perspective. Combine that with the ministry of experience. That's really helped me as well in this role but you talk about moving out of covid. We've got remain optimistic. We've got a hope for the best and the worst. You're already planning four g. day. We've got the limited seats ready in case but obviously like i said hope for the best keep progressing but we've got to prepare and plan for every scenario moving forward josh. I realize you're you're you're barely ended the job you start questioning you on on things that We'll take some time to sort out but with every athletic director and georgia probably better equipped at the most because of the success of the program. How do you deal with the loss of revenue. We're does it affect or how does it affect the program. The most well thankfully paul. We have a phenomenal team here. From our development staff and our ticket staff we put in a really great plan in august. We knew that we'd have limited capacity and it was a fan. I concept put forward. We offered every donor the opportunity to get a full refund on their tickets and that was without any caveat so if they got a full refund they would lose their seats for next year and that that was something that we really that was going to be tough because we knew a lot of people will take that refund put back into that our development ticket office went to those donors and said hey. Listen if you let us keep a portion or or the what we refund of your ticket portion donation portion and converted to a cova relief fund. We'll give you triple points towards your priority for seat back for seating so that effort and that was very meticulous and they put in a lot of hard work and we have the best fans in the nation we were. We were able to recoup twenty two million dollars of that that big number that we always strive for so that help put a big dent in what our financial situation was along with the fact that our business office has done a phenomenal job of being focusing on essential. Expense mission critical. And everybody's bought in and we are one of the few departments in the country. I would say that have not had to lay people off now. That fuller employs. And that's important to me. Because i'm a people person. People come first so a combination of what our development office and take it off so done and the business office were sitting in you know. We obviously still have challenges to go. And we're we're going through that but we're in. We're gonna come out of this. I think in pretty good shape when it's all said and done
Lamar Jackson gets his first playoff victory as Ravens beat Titans
"About the final game from day to of Wild Card Weekend the Ravens at the Titans. So Baltimore one 2213, it's Lamar Jackson's first-ever playoff win. Now. I always thought that the kind of narrative about well Lamar Jackson can't win in the playoffs my God still he he lost both games in two years like whatever. I I thought it was always massively overblown, but it was a hard tough fought game really interesting really exciting the Ravens against the Titans is it's really become a public library in my opinion and these two teams do not like each other at all.
Notre Dame Lands Marcus Freeman At Defensive Coordinator
"Just ended the last hour talking about the reports. That bo pollini is going to get four. Four million dollar lump sum payoff to to after being fired as the defensive coordinator and there's been a lot of speculation and even some reports that the That lsu was on the verge of hiring. Marcus freeman from the university of cincinnati. But pizza animal has just reported that he is going to notre dame instead of always breaking stories literally as he's coming on the air here pete great to have you on. This was a much watched battle between a number of schools for marcus freeman. Good afternoon and tell us what happened. Well i this is what one of the more public and hotly contested coordinator Tussles that i can recall in In in recent seasons anyway there's been a few a few of them over the years and You know we'll we'll we'll never know only only the only the folks in the grotto will really know How much notre dame has a market because their private but you know. Lsu lsu is ready to pay him Both leaning plus money and You know he went to both places this week. And i think at the end for For marcus freeman. Who is cincinnati. Thirty three might be thirty four year. Old defensive coordinator and the architect of that That great cincinnati defensive wanted this year one the afc and then Loss to george on a last second field goal in the in the peach bowl. I think for for marcus. There was geography and You know there will be some stability right. You got notre dame brian. Kelly is just steady ship there and You know there was a lot attractive. I think about. Lsu they were. I think on for twenty four until defense or some some number that would be easily improved upon with some new blood in better schemes. And obviously they probably have more raw talent down there so i mean really a really a compelling decision for a bright young coach. Call that we're going to be hearing a lot about in the In the next couple of the next couple of years course the next guy will probably not be thrilled to because all the attention was on freeman. But where does she go next. That's a that's a really good question really. Good question You know they they. They made hard shortages at At freeman and he was he was clearly be The target and the guy they wanted. And i i don't know From ahead who. Who were they go next. You know there's a lot of people have preserved our net at mississippi state right now Chain being made around adam this week. There's been rumblings if texas is going to go after in the chris ash Won a national title As buyers defensive coordinator at ohio state six seven years ago. It was the head coach at rutgers in the news at texas last year. And she's got a lot better on defense under wraps. I think that's that's another name right. Now let's That's brewing through the The the defensive coordinator mill show there will There will be options. And if we know and scott woodward they will be addressed.
Will 2021 Deliver the NCAA Basketball Match-Ups We Missed in 2020?
"Haven't really seen a ton of showcase matchups yet where we've gotten great prospect against prospect or when we have it's been situations like duke michigan state where both of those teams look like. They're kind of a mess right now. If we're going to be honest about it We've gotten a lot of showcase games with kentucky and kentucky is kind of a mess right now so it's hard to evaluate a lot of these players within the construct of where they are right now. So i'm excited to jump back in here starting on january fourth. I think it is as my first day back new january third and like just see what what's out there like what i can even find because it just feels like there hasn't been a lot of even really great evaluation settings since you know tournaments like maui and These little showcase games that happened throughout the course of the season. The schedule things. Because when you talk to college coaches so many of 'em treat it like an art form under normal circumstances and who can we play and where and what the. Rpi what will this now. It's it's become to steal the term. That's overused now speed dating. You can play the state good. We're doing whatever teams you. I'm casey played two games on the same day against the same team. Like teams picking up stuff to play an a. m. a. guys like kind of on the fly. So you're gonna conference planner. You're still now. You're seeing a little bit and stuff come out today. There's a couple programs coming back for the holidays. That are now shutting down for a week or two because of covid which adds to kind of what you're saying there hasn't been these elite match and it seems like a game going to happen and it gets postponed. I'm already looking ahead a little bit too far to saturday. You have texas kansas. You have our records. Even though ron harper junior may be hurt lsu florida so like the games are coming. I think they'll come more so in conference play. But every time you have something circled on your calendar like the big evaluation game there's a wrench thrown into
The Big Red Button
"I'm gabrielle. Sierra and this is why it matters today a look inside the rules for nuclear launch in the united states and the risks of giving one person so much power. Hey i'm alex bill and i name is abigail sto thurston. Bell and stow. Thurston are both experts at the center for arms control and non-proliferation an ngo that focuses on nuclear security. This means they spent every day thinking about how to prevent nuclear war. Okay so the only person that is in charge of launching a nuclear attack is the president. There's no stopgap. There's no other people he asked to consult. There's nothing else just his decision. Yes so there's no requirement that the president consult with anyone they can and our command and control system is designed so that he can get in contact with advisers that he wants to speak to but no requirement that he consult with anyone before we go any further. Let's get our terms straight. There are two kinds of nuclear strikes retaliation. And i use. The details are complex but both are essentially what they sound like. Retaliation involves responding to a nuclear attack with a nuclear attack. I use means being the first to use nuclear weapons in conflict. Neither of these scenarios requires the president to consult with experts. So if the scene with the big board and the president talking to all of his advisors doesn't need to happen. What actually does need to happen. The protocol for launching nuclear weapon is highly secretive but the main components are known. Could you walk me through. How a i use nuclear strike would go down. It basically starts with the president deciding that he wants to use a nuclear weapon. He can decide this because he feels like an attack is imminent on the united states. He can decide it because we're in a conflict and he wants to use a nuclear weapon to end the conflict you know basically escalate so far that the other side will back down or it could just decide. He wants to use a nuclear weapon their issues surrounding whether or not it would be a legal order. But i think in the heat of the moment you're not gonna have a bunch of lawyers running into the room saying i don't think this is legal. He actually has a direct line to the national military command center. This facility run by the pentagon is ready at any minute of the day to receive a launch order remember. The president is the commander in chief of the military. All he has to do is pick up the phone. Indicate the target and the number of weapons he would like to launch. He has something called biscuit which is a little card that has launch codes on them. Someone verifies that is in fact the president giving this order. The order goes out and within five minutes from the president deciding. I want to launch a nuke to nuke in the air. That's how easy it is terrifying short amount of time and terrifyingly easy today and you're relying on the person who has the authority to know and have thought through all of those consequences. We take it for granted that that person will have thought about that before they do it. There's no checker balance to make sure that that presidents in the right head space has thought through everything has talked with our allies. None of that's there and has it always been this way. So historically commanders did have the ability in the eisenhower administration at the beginning of the nuclear age to use nuclear weapons on their own authorities. Should they not be able to get into contact with the president and then it was in the kennedy administration that we really solidify the idea that it should be the president and the president alone that the consequences of nuclear use is so massive that it really should be a decision at the top level. The idea being that. The american public would always electa relational and straight thinking president and And so that's why. This sort of very undemocratic process develops was a bit of a nuclear monarchy. So the idea was that this one person who was elected by all these people would have the wherewithal to make the right decision in this situation. Yeah it was theorized that way but not everybody always agreed with it. In fact during the height of the cold war there was a lot of debate about whether or not this was a good structure and it kind of went to macab places at times where somebody was positing that. Actually you should have the launch codes in a pill inserted inside of the heart of military attache and the president would actually have to kill that military attache to get the codes and be able to kill hundreds of thousands of people. Obviously that was not an actionable plan by theorists at the time is sort of making the case about how much you're putting on the shoulders of one person and whether or not that's a good idea when it comes to a weapon that's capable of flattening cities and and beyond the stakes surrounding the decision to launch a nuclear first strike are as high as they get and since the attacks on hiroshima and nagasaki. No president has done so in an ideal world the president would think and hard and hear a wide range of opinions before undertaking a first strike but when it comes to the other nuclear scenario retaliation the president would not usually have the luxury of time for retaliation you have to be able to decide and execute the retaliation and a very short time. Lsu you risk being wiped out neutralize before you can do. so this is richard vets. He's the director of the saltzman institute of war and peace studies at columbia university. An adjunct senior fellow here at the council he's served on the senate select committee on intelligence the national security council and advised three cia director's. How short is that time. Well that depends on where you are between india and pakistan which right next to each other could be almost instantaneous. for the united states and russia the Time was generally thought to be once. The missile age began about twenty to twenty five minutes list for the united states depending on various technical details.
Louisiana State University parts ways with Bo Pelini after one season as Tigers overhaul defensive coaching staff
"There are multiple reports out there right now. That bo pollini is gone from. Lsu that Experiment did not work very well. So several media outlets reporting this hour. That bo pollini is not coming back on twenty one. That was certainly the most controversial decision that it owes. You're on made let's Welcome in stewart. Mandel to the program. Stuart thank you very much Before we even get to the ball situation. I'd like to get your thoughts on that Well paul i gue-. I guess i would say that. That's something that we've all expected. Since about the second game of the season it just a bad higher and you know it's interesting that a year ago Does ron was getting all the praise in the world for an inspired Higher joe brady the passing game coordinator. Who kinda helps And it was instrumental in joe burrow's rise and that national championship. And then you had some staff changes to make this after this past season and we hire both lean. He's a big name and he's had success before and i get that but it just seemed like it was just such a terrible fit. He tried to revamp their scheme entirely. And this was a program. That had success under dave randall. On defense it wasn't broken. Tried to completely revamp the scheme regardless of the personnel. They lost so many guys to the draft last year and then and then even more before the season. And i just wasn't a good fit and just just a historically bad defensively shoot this year.
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey
"It's important to provide clarity and that altered my thinking so that i can help. Young people understand where we're heading football players volleyball soccer players. Were asking the same question. Cross country student athletes. Those were really important and when our football player said is going to be meaningful in paul you have to go back to the uncertainty of july and try to figure out. Well how do you answer that question. I i hope it meant something when i presented the trophy to vanderbilt soccer team. I said thank you to them and they said thank you back you know. We provide an opportunity. Next thing you know. Sarah fuller becomes story and her jersey and helmet from really unique circumstances in the college football hall of fame right down the street. That doesn't happen if we don't try. I said in september last year was was. Lsu's time and joe burrow's time not knowing who's time it might be this year but it's not as if time passes and you get it again and that's why i thought it was important was because it's about them not about tickets and tv and money and there's plenty of rhetoric about that and you know what we sell. Tickets put things on tv. But i was asked to try to provide an opportunity. And i asked my staff to work to provide that opportunity. I worked with our presidents and chancellors to provide the opportunity We're still working on that or athletic. Directors are coaches and it has been difficult but it is a reward in itself and we want everybody to be healthy. we never waver from that reality. We disrupted games where we still tried to fulfill what i was asked during the summertime and I take that is a great sense of accomplishment For all of us. And i hope those who participated feel that way as
Coaching search updates: Kevin Steele the favorite at Auburn
"Obviously we're in the middle. Coaching carousel to and i think the most interesting one right now is auburn I think they spent twenty one point. Five million dollars to buy out gus malzahn. We could argue whether he should have been fired or not the end of the day. He lost the momentum there and they the boosters put the you know got out the hat and collected the money and they fired him. So you think okay. You're gonna fire Coach gus malzahn. All that money. You're going to want to go out and get like the splashes possible coach. You can get tell us who's actually leading the coaching search right now as we reported this morning. That sources are telling me that the front runner for this job right now is defensive coordinator kevin steele and while that may blow some people's minds. He has some very very influential people at auburn who are big believers in him and in his corner at auburn. Especially that matters right so look We have a story up but the athletic now about who's in the mix there and the ones. I think one of the people who is really a big contender against kevin steele on this front is lane. Kiffin at ole miss But i think he would have a hard time turning that job down. I think he's obviously a big name. Now he's foreign four. It's it's interesting in that. I think a saturday's game between ole miss and lsu doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot. You know outside of those two programs. But i think it may may need a little bit of something potentially at auburn as crazy as it sounds because for some people at auburn i think they could shape it and saying all right kevin steele dreadful run as the head coach at baylor twenty. Plus years ago he was one and thirty one in big twelve. Play at baylor is a long time ago but people. I've talked to down there have made the case where you know what at had a bad record. The first time he was a head coach and he just won a national title a year ago. And my my counter. That was well. He did have to times as interim pretty lengthy runs where he was at least able to show people he's evolved and grown and those people said look a people at auburn feel like kevin steele's been the guy who's hold it together for them the last few years he is very well respected within the scc And so also know how. Attractive is lane to auburn. He did a really good job at fau their foreign You know if he loses to. Lsu's not very good this year. He's foreign five. I think probably diminishes a little bit No its first year. It wasn't like anybody expected out all messed great. But he's definitely a candidate As billy napier from louisiana Maybe who freezes is somebody that that auburn would push for. I think and you still have steve sarkisian there. You know also in the state of alabama So it's a really interesting. Search in auburn is wildly unpredictable. What does but From what i heard they would love to have a coach Decided upon by the beginning of next week
Swamp stunner: LSU beats No. 6 Florida with 57-yard FG late
"Kate your kicked a fifty seven yard field goal with twenty three seconds remaining to send LSU to a stunning thirty seven thirty four victory over sixth ranked Florida in the swamp Kyle Trask got Florida in position to tie it whatever McPherson was wide left from fifty one yards out on the final play transcript you touchdowns and threw for two more but he also had three turnovers turn the ball over that many times you know it's hard to win games but I thought we you know we fought really hard in the second half and you gave our team a chance Packers quarterback Max Johnson threw three touchdown passes in his first college start the sun is Superbowl champion Brad Johnson threw for two hundred thirty nine yards and ran for fifty two more I'm Dave Ferrie
Chris Doering talks Florida and Georgia
"We welcome in chris during Who gives us her. Quite a look ahead to tomorrow's game. Chris in most years florida hosting lsu of the sec this week. It's been pretty quiet. I am curious as you know those two teams so well especially from florida side What what are they thinking as they get one of their bitter rivals in a bitter rival that they are a prohibitive favorite. It is weird. Isn't it paula. Me and thinking back to win. This game was originally scheduled. I thought most lsu people felt like we're gonna get a chance to play later in the year we'll get healthier. We'll get miles brennan back. We'll be in better position. And i would argue that. They're actually in a worse position now than when they were originally scheduled in october. So i it's kind of a weird dynamic with a lotta florida. Fans looking forward to sec. Championship game next weekend for me. This is all about. Florida has nothing to do with their opponent. Lsu it's about getting right offensively full full-fledged dress rehearsal right costumes everything. Let's go for what we're gonna do next week. I i honestly been kind of disappointed with florida's offensive performance. The last three weeks dating back to the vanderbilt came. Because they just look inconsistent. They look like they walk through a haze periods of time. They look like they're not executing and part of it's their own fault for looking so good against arkansas in the second half and missouri against georgia. We set the bar pretty high for them but focused level has not been there for a full sixty minutes. I want to see all fence. Get back to executing at the level. They were early in the year defensively. Let's get some things shored up. Let's figure out how to keep from giving up these long passing plays. Let's get generate some more pressure on the quarterback. Let's be able to to penetrate and stop the run something. I thought they did. Well against tennessee last week but The thing i'm gonna keep my paul. What are the numbers for. Kyle trask because obviously this is a game as you said against a A bitter rival one. That beat florida by fourteen. Last year florida's got a chance to return the favor but they also have a chance to outduel in back to back weeks what mack jones get did against the very same defense. And don't think that winning the heisman trophy is not something that dan mullen really wants. For contrast and something that will help his program significantly going forward in on that subject. How do you compare. Kyle trash to meg jones. And that's really his main competition now and that we know we know what had next two weeks especially next week but what what what what separates college trask. If anything well first of all. I love both of these guys you know as a former receiver. I love the the accuracy. I love the the the way they re defenses and get the ball to the right guy. On what the defense is dictating But i would go back and say kyle. Traffic is probably had a tougher. Time than what mack jones at and. That's not taking anything away. From mac ios but look at how. Good this offense of line is for alabama. Look at how well they've run the football over the last six games or so look at what. Najji harris has done. Devante smith the reason why iraq jones's numbers look so good on the deep passes over twenty yards and no disrespect. Mac has been really accurate. But when you're throwing a guy that's five yards behind the nearest defender. It makes it a little bit easier. So again i think without the run game florida certainly not able to run the football very well. I don't think they're offensive. Line is the most consistent So i think the load that kyle. Trask bears a little bit harder to to carry them. What jones does now with that being said. Look at the weapons of florida has i. I don't think i've ever been able to say at least in recent years. That florida has more receiving weapons around their quarterback than what alabama does. They've been absolutely loaded but Looking at the way that that not only kind of is utilized trayvon. Grimes justin shorter. All those receivers. Jacob copeland has come on as well Forgetting about tony. Who might be one of the biggest Factor mismatch guys in the sec. Right now but the way. They use the running backs as well. That was something that we saw against georgia so a lot of different guys. That are helping. Kyle trask out. But i think with the advantage that alabama has on the offensive line and that run game to complement the throws down the field. I think kyle may have a little bit more of a impressive Season just because of how much he's had to do himself chris. Couple of games. I want to ask you about one. Particular auburn at mississippi state mississippi state has been up and down we. We've been through that conversation. But i'm really curious about auburn. Because they've had some really good moments this year and then some clunkers especially lately. I know what you're doing here paul. You love it. When i go off on auburn and it's been up and down year with them right early in the season. I was really down on him. I was starting to get A little bit more positive with the way they were able to run the run the football figuring out who they were with take bixby and that offensive line and then they got hit with a bunch of injuries up front Bixby was was banged up.
LSU football self-imposes 1-year bowl ban
"Last year's playoff of course one by the bayou bengals lsu self imposing a one year bowl ban for this season could have something to do with the fact that there are three and five and going nowhere. So let's just get this out of the way. This is all about an investigation improper booster payments to football players. Although they've got another issue percolating as well. There have been some problems off the field for the tigers. No doubt
LSU football self-imposes 1-year bowl ban
"Hits keep coming for the L s u football program. That school announced a self imposed one year bowl ban on the Tigers program last month. "Top ranked Alabama added to its case for a place in the college football playoff by crushing last year's champion Ellis you fifty five seventeen the Crimson Tide jumped out to leads of twenty one nothing after the first quarter and forty five fourteen and a half time by scoring on all seven first half drives mac Jones passed for three hundred eighty five yards and four touchdowns three in the second quarter to the Vontae Smith who caught eight passes for two hundred thirty one yards as mixtape and returned to the sideline obviously this team has done a great job all year won the west today R. which I'm very proud of them for their efforts all year long nashi Harris also scored three times while running four hundred forty five yards I'm Tom Merriam

LSU mishandled sexual misconduct complaints against students, including top athletes
"A usa today bombshell came out on monday about lsu and Allegations of officials there mishandling complaints of sexual violence just reading from the usa. Today article here which says that they found in his all kind of started with darius guys but that at least nine football players have been reported to police Sexual misconduct dating violence. Since coach took over the team for years ago records show. The university is known to have disciplined bundling two of them and one for wide Davis was not expelled until four months after he was convicted of physically abusing his former girlfriend.
Uncertainty Surrounds Future of the NCAA
"What start off you kind of touched out. In the beginning of the show. Whole slew of postponements cancellations uncertainty across. Ncw in terms of football. It's a we knew it was going to be difficult. We had you know. We've we've got campuses that aren't allowing the students on campus. Unless they have something to do with football program and i understand that. There's a little bit of hypocrisy to that. But you know if you're going to be out there you know if you're going to try to have a season this year than you should probably do what you can alabama lsu cancel our post postponed georgia missouri postponed ohio state at maryland cancelled air force at wyoming cancelled. North texas at alabama birmingham hosts phone memphis at navy postponed at alex. Like it's et for the postponements and the cats and the cancellations early taking place because there's no buffer there's no buffer for the big time there's no buffer for the mid american conference mid american conference hasn't lost any scheduled games as of yet but For the big tat shoes not have wisconsin play for a couple of weeks. Probably not a big deal Ohio state maryland. The biggest game to lose. But you know it's been brought up if indiana It goes undefeated and doesn't have any games cancel. The higher state has a game or two gansel. Nearly go six at you know you got a six eight. No team Are you going to send indiana to your big ten championship. Game and let ohio state. Roll the dice with the playoff committee. I think that you know could potentially be a big deal. A losing georgia at missouri or postponing that and postponing alabama manila's you. I don't know that that's that big of a deal because we have conference championships by Obviously there's a lot of money that gets lost in these games. Not being played. But in other airing on the side of caution and It'd be difficult for me to sit here and the really hammer down on why. That's not right. I wanted to say that You know we shouldn't be yeah. We should be forcing these players on the field on saturdays.

"With us on ESPN radio who wins that game the XFL team inside game. I mean Joe. Borough would be the best quarterback on the field but the other players and particularly the lions would be. Why else would loose? Wow Okay I I don't agree with you. Aerial Halawani though might have a differing opinion. What are your thoughts here Aerial Hawaii on whether or not Joe Boroughs? LSU team record breaking unprecedented precedent at Lsu team would beat the best the best XFL team. Before I answer this important question I just want to say I don't appreciate the catch up shaming that I've received from your audience over the past five or so days it's irresponsible it's not fair to Stanford I'm proud of WHO I am Andy in any event the team but I just WanNa say there's a caveat to the answer it's the two thousand one version of the XFL team the two thousand twenty version are very subpar talking about the Orlando rage. I'm talking about Las Vegas outlaws. The New York New Jersey Heaven Two thousand one johnny-come-latelies stuff but we're talking twenty twenty. It's but let's take a look at the two thousand one one version the XFL much better play highly technical stuff all. Thank you for more than I was expecting that. We're looking for short answer. I was kind of hoping hoping to keep the moving. I keep the Sagar get Outta here. So that's aerial. How long are Ma expert which she come from? Why shaam bag and on back? I'm back to convince you that the NFL's important and the XFL Matt. It matters stabbed. Because I've been standing by seething as you have pooh-poohed this league accusing us all of corporate toadies for enjoying football. God forbid but it also matters and for reasons that I think are pertinent to your bleeding heart. Okay which is you. Talk About Joe Borough and how he'd perform against XFL teams the XFL could be a viable landing spot for college quarterbacks. There's already a Saint Saint Louis Battle Hawk a former all big twelve safety Kenny Robinson who was dismissed from college and is playing in the XFL making money. This is a real option. quarterbacks in this league make hundreds of thousands of dollars so we could see the next Trevor Lawrence. There will never see the next Trevor Lawrence their jet you're on ESPN radio. Give me better analysis than that. Jed Okay there is no way that the XFL team could be Lsu. I mean the the the defense is they're just not good enough now the offense with tear them up. It's as simple as that. It is as simple as that new gods that it wasn't called Jed Jed. What do you can't even watch the exit of I feel like half the people were coming in here and just creaming? This leak. Haven't even wash including Dan on. It's actually pretty good people but Joe Borough would shred that defense. Sure you're on. ESPN radio instead of me. What do you have Joshua what's going don't dvr every XFL game? And I have watched them repeatedly and I'm telling you the XFL teams would just utterly the Lsu team not even close. It wouldn't be fair. That was good man Tom. He knows what he's talking about. Jason you're on. ESPN CBS radio. Jason go ahead. What's up guys so the battle hawks can fly over? Lsu Tigers so obviously they would beat the tiger agars because the Tigers can't jump up and get. I'm sorry Jason I gotTa Get rid of you. We've got field. Yates breaking in from his. Get her out of here field. Yates now coming from his honeymoon. What do you have for us feel bad but spending most of my honeymoon thinking about who would win this matchup between Lsu and the top XFL team very very much the entirety my trip so far LSU landslide? You kidding me. Tigers ridiculous to to tell her no field have you been watching. XFL On your honeymoon. Honest I'll probably wrong. Thank you guys back down. I just scared at the MENAS. XFL yipping just barking at people making them not and not give us the truth. Pablo Tori of high noon ex every Pablo fell against Lsu who wins best XFL team so the XFL is in. Christ I mean one of the things that you need to realize that the excess values at the act like does that still Stanford Stream. What does extreme about this as as football? What are they even doing to me? When you really think about what a minor league supposed to be? Yeah the X.. What does that even supposed to? They're taking the label from an old thing putting it on a new thing so to act. LSU can be the next F. L. Team I guess so because none of the XFL teams are actually XFL all teams. What's extreme about any of these teams? None of them even qualify for the League that they plan this is. This is bothersome conversation because nobody often tell me what it stands for. Here's the thing Pablo can you name an XFL player. WHO's not a quarterback? Oh yeah there's there's Adam Outta here. Pablo took.

"Who carries a bunch of fucking fake cash around with them? Odell Beckham if you tell me. He's carrying twenty thousand dollars cash or fake cash on him right now. which which one are you going to believe? Odell Beckham is New Orleans. He's carrying a ton of cash worth. It doesn't know where to get fake cash either like you think. That Ode L. Beckham is walking around rounding. Like where can I find cash. By the way he handed it to Justin Jefferson who's probably going to declare for the draft and we'll do a lot of guys well. Yeah just Jefferson's the one that went super viral like I. I took that as like he was like fuck you. NC Double A.. I'm just going to give these guys money. The fact that they're trying to say it's fake. Money is a slam. She was taking the wrong. The wrong approach here. They're out there trying. I don't say it was fake money. That's bullshit you know it's bullshit I know it's bullshit. What they should be saying is? Yeah in the locker room the players gave it back. It was a fun thing to do on the field. Yada Yada what's the NCAA Housing and Sierra going to approve. They didn't so that's what they should be saying. It shouldn't be saying fake money. You know it wasn't fake money. I know it wasn't fake money. I also know that the players didn't give it back. That's more believable to me if you can locker room and Lsu says you'll lose your ability you need to give it back. I can believe that. Yeah I can't believe they were given fake cash. Okay Yeah I guess this is degrees of what I could believe. Odell Beckham Junior finding anywhere that has faked cash and then getting that much of it and carrying it around during the National Championship. Benjamin is by far the least believable angle. I do love that. Odell Beckham Junior was finally able to get the attention. He so desperately deserves 'cause he walked onto that field any where the cameras were. He never made a big enough differences. Lsu To win a championship himself so he was able to find the players that were able to deliver that and potentially just take a big shit over that all over that just to get himself some attention but you know what though I bet the players loved it. That's the thing when you look at. Does that mean I understand would probably a lot of things. That aren't good in the long run. Well no but I'm saying like you know it's easy for us to sit up here and be like Oh that guy needed attention but like if you go to Lsu and you see one of the not telling me that the players love somebody walking up and giving them five hundred dollars. I'm talking cruiser. No no no. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about just the attention. That Odell Beckham gets gets in the way he is. He's so flashy he obviously is a big name in the NFL. Like I would assume most players at any team would like a superstar. NFL player coming back and partying with them them. And then also the extra not fake cash raised. They'll just handing out money like an recruiting weekend. You sneak that in you know. I've got several more by by the way I've gotten to talk a lot about cheating in college football connected to this whole baseball scandal and I know it's apples to oranges with college and Professional Sports. But I've gotten a really working on on the radio. Some semi takes on college cheating. I've decided that people in on twitter and on social media that don't think colleges cheat might be my least favorite sector of twitter. There is there exist a A large percentage of college football fans on twitter that are just that are just mother fucking idiots and usually I'm just going to type cast here. They're going to be a mom between the age of forty and fifty five. Or maybe a DAB between the age of forty and fifty five that believe in the sanctity of good old university. And we're classy and nobody else's clancy and Blah Blah Blah. Even if they didn't win out still all support him because he's such a good young man you you wouldn't piss on the young man. If he was on fire he if he stopped in front of your house. You'd lock the fucking door and you are the worst. The person on twitter a college football fan. That just doesn't get shit. Sorry my bad no. It's okay I actually kind of agree with you. You actually kind of agree with you because I I do agree a lot. I agree with everything you said. It is really tough for me so I mean obviously we all liked like dunk on people on social media. Sometimes I do it too much whatever. It's very hard for me. Eight to dunk on. I do it anyways because it depending on how bad the tweet is but on a twitter avatar where it's like it could be my grandmother like GRANDPA. Fine don't give a shit like whatever but if it's a woman who looks like she's between my mom's age and my grandmother's age it's her comment has to be really bad towards me. GAUL's football we also deal with We deal with a fan. That's hard to dunk onto when a fan says something that is totally vowel about a player our about us and you WanNa dot com on you. Want to kill him and it's a picture of their fucking kid. Well that's usually the people that are hiding behind that that it exists a lot in college football world. Oh yeah or it's like their family. They have a Bible verse in their profile like just being completed and go to hell. Es Suck on a Dick or something. I don't know I got in that fight with that one Baylor other fan so casey we're also going to discuss. LSU being the best team ever investing over. I don't know I do know one thing that does qualify as the best ever the best. It's Mac and cheese of all time but he is food to make of all time the richest food of all time creepiest cheesiest. I think we're talking about same thing. VELVEETA shells and cheese. Yes yes yes. We're GONNA talk about if Lsu's the best team ever you can kinda decipher between is it. Talent wise is it the season wise there is no complaint. I don't know what word I was like. No denying there is no denying belva shells and cheese is the unanimous champion when it comes to the best Mac and cheese fulltime. It works for my kids. It works for my wife works for me. It is easy it is delicious it is quick it is perfect and you only need that one box and then you just kind of add a little hottest. Have you added the hot sauce. I am not how that's all sky. I I love cheese by itself. But you're GONNA have whatever you want. It's still just by itself. Don't get me wrong but if you want a little spice to it like you want that Ritchie and spice aloe hot sauce and while you're doing the body dances you know. I don't know maybe like a salsa dance shells and cheese makes this woman dance best team ever no no. I've I've seen this going around on. Twitter lies not. LSU's not the best talent wise or it's just not the best team. This is not the best team. People are confusing two different things. That's what I'm asking you what we're not confusing here on necessary. Roughness for people. I started saying this a month ago. LSU finishes this run what they got in front of them. This will be the best season ever beat five eleven when teams beat five. AP Top ten teams in the final AP top ten B seven top ten teams overall. It's the greatest season of accomplishment. We've ever seen it's not the best team ever because there have been teams in college football history that are better pound for pound than this team. This team had a couple of games that were they were tested. Had A couple of games for their defense just gave up way too many points and showed way too many weaknesses. They fixed that towards the end of the year and got better but there are teams on this in these grades of All Times Times listed. Didn't have those hiccups There are teams on this list. That didn't give up thirty eight Vanderbilt Thirty Eight to Sam Alan Jara in Texas sailing. Excuse me and Texas so great team. I think the best season ever put together. I there are there. Are you just got to recognize the difference. In the season they put together and the quality of team. They are like two thousand one. Miami does Miami team. That's the gold standard. They had seventeen first round draft picks. Seventeen that that's the greatest team in my opinion in college football history just off the top of my head just in my lifetime. I can't go back to the sixties. I could go back and look at numbers. But I'm not going back to the sixties or fifties of the forties and taking some of those teams but in my lifetime. I would say two thousand one. Miami is the gold standard Couple of Alabama teams at two thousand Eleven Alabama team that even lost in the regular season but ended up winning In the superdome beating Lsu. I thought those two teams were incredible. Lsu Lsu Alabama that year. But I would say that Obama team's all time team nineteen ninety-two Alabama is the greatest college defense ever. They were great and two thousand four. USC See who didn't really get tested because they were giving a gift by playing Oklahoma and the BCS championship game when they should have played auburn known. How good they really were instead? like Lsu this year they. We're giving the gift of a Shitty. Oklahoma team somehow always gets bio name value. Even though they suck. I would've said I think the Miami team. That's definitely the gold standard. I do think that and I I use is this phrase a lot but it is the truth. That's recently bias when you look at these teams but it also does have a lot to do with the amount of exposure these teams get and social media has so so much to play with that because like you're an encyclopedia brain. You can remember every single detail of every single college football season and the nineteen ninety-two team like I was four jacker even born yet. So it's like those types of things but I don't think that this Lsu team is the most talented team like you said. I would have probably taken a those early Miami teams but as far as the best team ever. It's an easier argument to make for a lot of people because they could see every single second of it. Yes I'm surprised he didn't say twenty. Thirteen Florida stay. I don't know why you'd be surprised that they they twin every player that started on that team ended up in the very talented. They just didn't leave. First of all James Coming back in two thousand fourteen and and then them getting beaten the playoff for some reason just colors at two thousand thirteen team. It makes remember. I watched that team walked off. The field is a loser the next year ear. And that's somehow sullies their name but I will say that. The the game with Auburn Auburn team wasn't good as far as a national championship goes I mean. They were a bad add team to reach the championship and floors date needed every second of that game to beat them. I I wouldn't consider Florida state two thousand thirteen in all time team very good team. National Champion Brim. That puts them way up there but I I don't consider him a national. You know an all time team. I all that team and I know we talked about this whatever episode. It was a while back when I was like. Oh what team has been the most disappointing in this decade. That whole run that for two statehouse Jameis Winston feels like it was twenty years ago..

"Know I. I don't particularly have a great memory for that stuff. It's hard to remember but also about the life span of running backs in the NFL. This is the showcase position or our weather showcase position in the sport. And you know the careers are so so ephemeral. The guys were superstars. Seem unstoppable. It just takes so little time for them to fade from the scene and you you know one of the guys I do remember is Frank Gore. Who actually is still in the league piling up yards at an advanced age for running back but there are other guys who seem like they've just been gone forever? Like Eddie Lacy Justin for set Lamar Miller. I haven't thought about that guy in a in a long time and so it's it was a it was a quiz. They made me sad stephan some quiz do that. I'm busy not really listening to you. And I'm typing the names of a pro sports teams that have the same first and last name better her. I'm not done but I got Chicago Cubs Buffalo Bills New York Knicks Tennessee Titans. LA LAKERS. Boston bruins Miami. Marlins do they count Washington Wizards. This is the Florida Marlins. Or is it the Miami Marlins. Now I've lost. Its Miami as Miami. Thank you Washington Wizards Philadelphia Phillies Philadelphia Flyers Cleveland Cavaliers. And that's where I stopped. Stop Typing to talk to you Pittsburgh pirates so you think that New York Knicks Philadelphia Flyers Star with the same. The nickname start with the same letter. Well that was my question in. Does it have to be letter or is it sound letter. It should be sound New York next. We're talking about alliteration. We're not talking about Pittsburgh Penguins. I don't the quizzes but I think it makes sense. Maybe maybe that's off. Take them off of my list. See if I care all right. Are you in the listeners. Ready to hear the fullest. I can't believe I'm taking the flyers off I mean they should have just spelled p. h. l. y. e. R. S.. All right here we go. You got a lot. That was impressive. You did a good job ignoring doing what I was saying. All right the answers are in baseball. Philadelphia phillies Miami. MARLINS CHICAGO CUBS Pittsburgh. Pirates and Anaheim. Manhandles the handles come on. They're really Los Angeles. Angels of Anaheim does that count in the NBA..

"From Lsu with a degree in petroleum engineering though is Very common so there are six completed passes says I believe in that game which is kind of a bad drive for Joe Borough also a thing to note about college football back then is it. Lsu won the national championship and the Clemson Seven. Nothing in the sugarbowl. Those things weren't related. They determined the national champion forest and Bowl Games. I was before the bullet totally sensible. The Ball System Link Games. Yeah it was just like a little bonus at the end to. They did it for fun just to so you think you'd get any extra injuries at the end of the year. Just a little little bonus round all right Stephane. What is your Mickey Mangum on twitter? The other day Listener Ryan Caulton back noted noted that bugged on Bogdonovich Utah Jazz scored thirty five points with zero rebounds assists blocks or steals in a game against New Orleans Josh you then reported that the NBA player to rack up more points with nothing in those other positive counting stat. Categories was Alan Houston of the Knicks in two two thousand who had thirty seven points impressive achievement. But let's talk about the totally inept performances player sue enter a game and do nothing. No points snow shots no free throws no fouls turnovers. You might be aware that this achievement is known as a trillion when the box score line shows one minute followed by a string of zeroes the first reference to the trillion. I was able to find a story by Mitch. albom in the Detroit. Free Press of April Eighteenth Nineteen Ninety Wendy album profiled to Pistons. Bench warmers Scott. Hastings and David Greenwood grabbed a sleeping bag. Fill the canteen album wrote we. We are headed for the end of the bench. Each of those last five words was capitalized. It isn't exactly the end of the world. Also capitalized. It's worse. Even even Columbus never looked for the end of the bench. I could do a whole after ball. About how bad the story is. But it's a little bit off point anyway. At one point in the story hastings in Greenwood talked about garbage time hastings recalled that he wants entered a game with twelve point eight seconds left and came out with eleven point. Six seconds left. Yeah I got what we called a trillion. He said a trillion album road yet. Hastings said that's when the box score reads one minute played followed by a row of Zeros. I got lots of those a trillion album road again and didn't follow up at all. Hastings said and or album type nine Zeros which would be a billion billion not a trillion. which as far as I can tell was the case in box scores of the day? Poetic License. Whatever but the rise of big box score led to an actual actual trillion twelve potential zeros field goals made field goals attempted three pointers made? Free throws made offensive rebounds total rebounds assists steals blocks turnovers personal fouls points. There's been even more box score. Creep over the years field goals three pointers and free throws attempted to pointers. Made and attempted. Did plus minus some boxes include minutes and seconds played which really messes up the Zeros aesthetic in any case the basic box score on ESPN NBA dot. com includes fifteen categories in a players control. So the QUADRILLE is the new trillion now a lot of players have recorded multiple trillions trillions in their career Jeb Bush ler of the one thousand nine hundred ninety s bowls had fifty five the former player Mark Titus now a writer and commentator has made sort of a career out of it. I think his twitter handle is club trillion but I wanted to find the most futile individual game performances the biggest trillions in NBA history. Fortunately originally historical searches on basketball reference. Show full minutes. And ignore plus minus they also include separate columns for two point field goals made and attempted that bumps us up to seventeen potential Zeros. which would be a hundred quadrille Ian for one? Minute played play ten minutes though and do nothing and it's a one followed by eighteen. Zeros the Nice Round Quintillo. Ian The QU- intil. Ian Is the new Quadrille Ian all right so now it's time to remember some guys who piled wild up. Zero's the record for minutes played while recording. Just one counting stat. Is Stan McKenzie of the Baltimore Bullets. Who On march eighth? Nineteen sixty eight played played nine hundred nine minutes and accumulated one and only one foul but there were only ten counting stats at the time which works out to a measly one hundred ninety billion and ten in the era our one stat champ is Kevin Gamble of the Celtics who on May Seventeenth nineteen. ninety-one played eighteen minutes and had one foul foul but that is not perfection for all eras. The dubious distinction of most minutes played with nothing at all to show for it in the box. Score that I was able to find belongs to Kenny of the Knicks. Sears was the fourth pick of the nineteen fifty five draft. He twice led the Nixon scoring but not on February fourth nineteen fifty-six fifty six against Syracuse sears. Played fifteen minutes and tallied no stats so fifteen minutes all-time mark but the NBA of nineteen fifty. Six of course didn't have three point shot. It didn't breakout offensive and defensive rebounds. It didn't tally steals blocks or turnovers so sears US fifteen is followed by just ten. Zeros rose a mere one hundred and fifty billion in nineteen seventy six Steve. Kubersky of the Celtics had thirteen minutes of bupkus in eleven categories. A one point three trillion in one thousand. Nine hundred eighty seven Keith. Star of the Bulls went fourteen minutes. Fourteen categories one point. Four Quadrille Ian Allan Level of the rockets. It's did twelve minutes in fifteen categories in one thousand nine hundred one a twelve Quadrille Ryan but still no Quinta Ilian and then I finally found it the high water mark the leader in the clubhouse the gold standard of null sucking void in modern. NBA Box score. History is twelve minutes with seventeen goose sags. A one point two Quin Chilean. It is a three way tie among Kenny. Walker of the Washington Bullets skywalker baby on December Eleventh Nineteen ninety-three Damon Jones of the Cavaliers on June seventh two thousand seven in Game One of the NBA finals. No less. Wow and Rishaad Vaughan of the bucks on January Fifteenth Two Thousand Sixteen. I should note here that the basketball reference box includes a final column called Game Game Score which is a stat created by John Hollinger Walker Jones and von each of course registered a game score of zero point zero which if view include that makes nine thousand nine hundred Zeros so the number to beat is not one point two Quin Chilean..

"But cone again was not arrested or charged and then writers. Dan saw cone as the hero in this case and someone who would overcome something as somebody who had the greatest game of his life when he thought thought he might get arrested and it's played as this kind of Hero's journey for him. It's incredibly disturbing. Yeah so the cone rape allegation happened happened on the last day of the season in Nineteen ninety-one so in October and it was a story that lasted as a news event. It was like a three day story. Maybe it was unfolding exactly at the moment of the Clarence Thomas hearings so you know if you look at the newspaper covers back. Then there'd be like a big thank picture of Anita Hill and then a little box at the bottom. You Know David Cone Accused of rape. That went away almost immediately Philadelphia. Police decided that it was not a credible allegation and they dropped the case. And then as you say yeah cone that became part of the legend because while he was still under investigation you know. There's this this whole story behind the scenes that came out of how you know met's GM frank cash told him it's the last day of the season. Were not in contention. Wanted to just sit this one out and cone said you know no you gotTa let me pitch. And he went out there and he just pitched this like bonkers game. I mean I think it's a one hitter and struck out. Nineteen something like that and then stories were written about. How did you do it? What did you draw? It was like that kind of sports reporting about this thing. It was just totally assumed that this case was indeed totally without merit again. The police did drop brought. That gives an another thing. That's going on here that we should talk about is the way race played into all these stories so You know one might reasonably we ask why David Cohen was accused of rape in October. Nineteen ninety-one and you know. The case was dropped almost immediately by the police. And and then three black players on the mets Dwight. Gooden Vince Coleman and Daryl Boston were accused of rape just a few months later and it was just a massive story and you know taken very very seriously by the police in an investigation that unfolded over a number of weeks. I think that's worth considering to and and yet. The police in both cities ultimately chose not to attempt to prosecute years. Later you report that the Philadelphia Inquirer discovered that multiple accounts of accusations of sexual assault by women were rejected by the Philadelphia. Police Department. Out of hand there was even a nickname for the office. The lying bitches pitches unit. I was stunned when you interview. You did with one of the investigators in Port St Lucie Florida who who all these years later sort of rehashed. These suspicions that he had that ruled out attempting to prosecute the case that amounted wanted to nothing more than the sort of poor conjecture about what he thought may have happened and whether he could trust what she was saying and that seemed very little to do with physical evidence. Yeah he told me that in his opinion what was going on there was Powell had been jilted by David Cone Own. She wanted to make him jealous. She'd picked up. You know gooden and the other guy is at the nightclub and concocted this whole thing kind of to get cones attention. She made Google is at him he told you she made. Google is on him and you know one of the things. I found very striking from that interview. Was You know I mentioned that. This all unfolded on the same night and very close to to wear the William Kennedy Smith incident unfolded and I don't know to me learning learning about that in two thousand nineteen talking about in twenty twenty. I mean that's just speaks to first of all how prevalent these sorts of stories were at that moment that they we're finally coming out but more importantly the underlying issue of how prevalent these incidents might have been. So that's kind of my perspective on it but then talking to this detective detective. who had worked the mets case? He thought that the fact that these two things had happened on the same night was rather damning. was just evidence that you know they were one was a copycat happy cat claim of the other. And what are the chances so it just kind of I think shows how the same piece of information can be interpreted in radically different for ways depending on your priors about women's inclination to lie about such things perhaps Stefan Dan working as journalists back then and we are both fans of of the team and would read coverage and follow them just as kids. Who are interested in baseball? But you were working as a journalist year at the AP not at the time. What did this story kind of call to mind for you about this era about reporters and about sort of societal views about sexual assault in my memory of the case is yeah? I remember the accusations. I don't remember much of it in detail I wasn't I wasn't covering sports at the time but I did read the tabloids when I was living in New York so I don't have a stark recollection other than to put it in the context. Oh yeah all those mets were assholes and this was one more story that likely the in your mind has a high probability of truth and yet it was not being prosecuted. Because that's what often happened with athletes. What's that we overlook their their sins on the field and that our institutions are very bad at following up? And Look Clarence. Thomas was confirmed to the Supreme Court. Right William Kennedy Smith was acquitted. This was part of a pattern of the way our systems our institutions are systems jurisprudence. Didn't also seem to function and I'd be lying if I say I recall thinking like there's an injustice been done here but I probably just didn't pay that close attention to the details of this case and its conclusion and the thing down that really strikes me is that yeah. It reminded me that I was essentially ancient working adult at this time and I don't have a strong sense or song memory of of outrage about what had happened that we were inured to the way that sports and bigger institutions function in cases like these I think one thing that sort of complicates for me certainly looking back and situation complicates. What's the situation and what I think might have been complicated at the time? Was that when the prosecutor declined to press charges. It's not like he came out and said you know this was a false allegation. He came out and said this is an unwinnable case and I think that was a reasonable assessment of the evidence. I mean there were things as they were about this case that would have made it really tricky like the fact that it had taken her a year to come forward the fact that you know there were no other witnesses like. They're these were there. You know there were as a as a rape case it was kind of a stinker you know so I think and you see that in the coverage Ridge at a of the wrap up of this investigation. It's not like the you know. Even the tabloid columnists are saying. You know these mets are innocent. Let's move on. They're saying things things like this is really awful. Who knows? Let's move on. So what what I found. Maybe more outrageous was not the way the legal system handled handled it. Although some of the stuff we talked about with how the detectives investigating the case might felt about our alarming but the way that you know confronted with this tricky situation should wear this was perhaps an unwinnable case certainly in one thousand nine hundred eighty two it might have been an unwinnable case so it was dropped and then everyone just kind of said okay. Let's never think about it again and I don't think it was never think about it again because were all certain individually certain that this thing never happened but rather it's unpleasant you know. Let's play ball. You have to think about the fact. This was also the beginning of the baseball season. So there's for the sports writers at any rate there's like a propulsion to like. Let's put this. You know weird spring training stuff aside and now the games means something so yeah I mean there were those kind of post mortem columns on April Tenth Anthony April eleventh of Nineteen Ninety two and then by opening day. It's not even mentioned. Gooden pitched the home opener at Shea. And it's just like how did he look well He. He was pretty good but he took the no decision. Or whatever so like it just it evaporates. Meanwhile other stuff that had come out in that spring training you know some of these other tabloid stories about the mets acting like jerks or buffoons lived on so for example that same month of March nineteen. ninety-two allegations came out that David Cone had masturbated in front of female fans on two occasions. That story got the full tabloid treatment. There is a famous New York Post Headline Weird Sex Act Bullpen. That's one that I've now just talking about myself as a mets fan. I remember that vividly and when I think back on those teams weird sex act and bullpen is the first thing that comes to mind what I find again this I can only speak for myself but I thought it at the beginning of this project. I was like it's so crazy that I remember the cone masturbation stuff and that happened like two weeks into this massive massive story about the alleged rape and I just I like I one has been wiped from my mind completely. It's not like Cohn ever admitted that he did this quote unquote weird sex act in the bullpen has always said he he didn't do any quote quote unquote weird sex act in the bullpen. So but but for some re- like that was just an easier thing to talk about and you can see it in the in the columnists at the time to they. They were just uncomfortable after bill with this rape story because it was so awful and I think from their perspective who knows but the cone thing like. That's it didn't seem like anyone was really hurt that much. I guess there were no other repercussions on these players. Taken by the mets whereby Major League Baseball. But for Cindy Powell. The woman at the center of the case. This was her life life. How in your reporting Dan? What did you find out about how this affected her and what happened? Her will the experience of coming forward was devastating for her reporters knew who she was ause but her name was never was never published And that is not the case for some of the other people who came forward around this time as I said but she was hounded at at her place of work. She was followed to her appointments with her therapist. It was very very unpleasant And again it. It ended with no charges in the years that followed her friends. Tell me that you know and this is again. There's there's no way to know for sure but this is just what her friend said that she the change that Her life did not go well from then in terms of her mental health and she struggled for quite some time. She had a lot of tragedies unrelated to this in her family the death of her brother of the death of her biological father and then she died by suicide in two thousand twelve. It's impossible Dan. Santa.

"Between crane and now who is really responsible and these incidents and it was if we are going to criticize Manfred it is extremely inconsistent to say that Liu now bears responsibility for everything that everyone under him was doing but the crane bears no responsibility for everything that anyone was doing underneath him. Couldn't have Put it any better and and the farcical the I think the most farcical part of this his that rob Manfred very clearly and explicitly stated. This was a player driven scheme. With the exception of Alex. Cora of course a player driven scheme in which players ended up getting suspended. I mean Ed this this just enlist I understand why no players got not suspended because the easiest route for baseball to punishment into trying to wrap up this very ugly and Sordid added chapter of its history was too disciplined. People quickly and quick disciplined came via this memo that Manfred sent out September fifteenth. Two thousand seventeen and this memo said that if there is illicit use of technology by a team and the general manager and manager will be held responsible responsible and that is exactly happened in this situation. You didn't see anybody else get disciplined. You're probably going to see Alex Cora Because as of his time as manager of the Boston Red Sox and what he did as bench coach of the Houston Astros end up wearing it awfully hard and probably lose his job because that was a bit right and Manfred said in the statement that he gave players immunity in order to testify and Manfred also knew that any punishment of players was gonNA. It'd be litigated by the Union. And he also said he couldn't determine which of them did what and I've been trying to sort of sort through what would be ed more draconian or or more appropriate level of punishment. I mean what what can baseball do what could not rob Manfred. Had done. Sure he could have suspended the owner the way George Steinbrenner was suspended for life and returned a few years later. But what can you do hear stripped the championship. I mean I don't think it's give them extra losses I mean you know you can't do. What soccer dozen Europe like demote the team to the minute you could ban them from signing free agents? You could do that. Maybe you could count fifty million bucks against the luxury tax. I'm not saying they should do that. I'm just saying that's a mechanism that is very common in international soccer right. They think we're Manfred. Had A real problem Jeff. Is that if you go too far. You are indicting your own sport in a way that you're not right now by giving out these suspensions that lead to firings of one general manager and one field manager. Yeah I think that's a that's a very fair and reasonable. Appoint on the balance that Manfred strike the needle that he had the threat. However you WANNA put it? I do think though that the clearest path for him to take to hold everybody including Jim Crane accountable would have been a fine. That was larger than five million dollars that's the most laughable part of this whole thing and I understand that he would be expanding his powers by doing that. But what this does is it. Reinforces the notion. That Rob Manfred is a commissioner who is beholden to the owners that every commissioner in every sport. It's not raw manfred Manfred. Yeah I listen. I know that was what the response was going to be. And that's fair but can you give me another situation or another sport. That has had something like this. This where the commissioner hasn't stepped up and been draconian I mean don't you think Roger Goodell. The case of spy gate in the suspension of Tom Brady was taking draconian measures. And eventually you know it got walked back but at least he endeavoured to do something like that. I think the best analogy here is how David Stern handled Tim. Donaghy situation where he pretended like it wasn't actually a problem where he got up and explain that it was just one guy in elite. Didn't actually have this this problem and he just kind of convinced everybody that the League was was clean at had done everything right and and it was like total bs but everybody bought it because stern was such a wizard at a public relations. And that I think is getting to Stephen's point is is that Manfred wanted to paint. And I think everybody's willing to to buy because staffers are so heated. This was a rogue organization. And I think where I want this conversation ago and I'm interested in both of your takes. It's like this is obviously bad for baseball. Have the story out there but the the actual crime the quote unquote crime even if Manfred cinema or whatever. Everybody is stealing signs. Everybody has stolen signs and baseball baseball since baseball was invented. So even if you think that what. The Astros did was worse than typical science dealing. It's a matter of degree. It's not like they were doing anything being so extraordinarily awful and so I think the reason these yeah. Are you really trying to say. Hey that stealing signs from second base and touching your kneecap to let a hitter no that fast balls coming as equivalent to banging on a trash can to let them know literally every pitch that's coming and not only in a trash can but using the best available technology not the trash Ashdown and and doing it basically your they were exploiting the extension of video video into the game itself that Major League Baseball adopted in two thousand fourteen. I mean they major league. Baseball gave teams approval Russell to put replay rooms ten feet from the dugouts. This was a slippery slope. Manfred deserves to be criticized for not recognizing the potential for exploitation of technology. Here so I do think worse than you weren't the giants tipping every pitch in the nineteen fifty one world series. Yeah they were trying to is this. How is this new? Like it doesn't change my belief about the nature picture of you know whether you call it cheating or I would call a cheetah it doesn't change my view of how teams are cutthroat and are are. We're trying to win. This is not make me disillusioned about the sport or at. You know it's GonNa be punished and it should be punished but this idea that the integrity of the game has been breached and some unprecedented way doesn't carry them water with me. I don't know man. A team like won the world series in a year in which chick was cheating. But I I don't I don't know how much more plain and simple it gets. Then that and I want them to lose the world series though hypocritical..

"Accurate and mobile and is also extremely good at diagnosing. What defenses are doing? It was only a matter of time keeping with the narrative where LSU is not dominant athletic force and if they did have to fight and work to win this it is worth remembering that these are all disparate parts that Lsu. Let's you put together the right if we went back three years ago and said Hey Joe Borough Clyde Edwards healer Dhamar Chase like. Are you going to be able to dominate college. Football with Jessica Jason Jefferson was a two star. LSU beat out Kansas to get your mar chase. Joe Boroughs. Other option was Cincinnati when he was looking at transfer from Ohio state and lost Out to Dennis Haskins Clyde t layer. I mean he did get a scholarship to Lsu but like nobody would have thought that he was on the level of various guys the guy who preceded him at Baton Rouge Catholic in Lsu. So yeah I mean this is all a testament to like the work that Lsu put in and their ability to put people in the right place and we haven't even brought up Joe Brady. They vary youngest systems. They brought in from the New Orleans. Saints who you know kind of revamped their offense and made them into the unit that they are. Today it's really a testament to like I mean I know there's a sound corny but but it's really a testament to the idea of reinvention teamwork in work ethic Because none of this was given and if you go back to you know early September when Lsu was barely edging out Texas at home a Texas team. We later found out. Wasn't all that good and then you go to what we saw last night. Obviously you know a lot of things to come together and LSU's responsible notable for a lot of that and even you know if you do have really amazing players. They have to play well. I mean it's been all thing to say but Trevor Lawrence it's not like that came discredited him in any way. I thought that he made really good plays at various points during the game and he looked really scary. If you were rooting against inst- clemson. But he didn't have a good game. I mean by his admission by Dennis weenies in Michigan. He had all of those overthrows whether it was just because he was a little bit off off whether it was because Lsu was doing something but he just didn't play well and in every game this year and then in the SEC championship game and how Obama game and the semi against Oklahoma and against Clemson job road didn't have a bad game barely had a bad series all year. A and you know he's twenty three years old his fifth year in College. One of those was a redshirt year. He's a grad transfer already graduated from Undergrad. He only takes classes online. He goes to the Facilities Professional Football College.

"Was in the superdome for it in the press box and I was happy confessed. I was raising my fingers. Enjoy so says not to violate the prohibition on cheering in the press box you weren't worthy to people that was cheering for shrunk. When he came into the I heard about that story in the press box but I was very loudly seething but but now but this was the culmination of objectively one of the greatest the seasons in college football history? LSU Had the most points of any team ever in the AP poll era. I believe and this was Clemson. Paul is the best defense in college football this year and Lsu and Joe Bro put up as they've put up all year record passing numbers and that Forty two twenty twenty five win so you are definitely dispassionate. And not fake dispassionate. So what can you tell me and us about Lsu and their victory. I think you know what's a testament to how good Lsu was this season in particularly last night is that there was a point in the third quarter while felt sorry for Clemson which is which is unbelievable. They're on a twenty nine game winning streak. You know they beat Ohio state team. That was as good is any I saw in the country all year right in in late in the third quarter of like. Oh clemson doesn't have it and I mean think about this. Lsu Put up six hundred twenty yards scored forty two points on Clemson. That's still thought they did pretty good. All Things considered which just shows you that. LSU's offense is just totally changed. Like I guess the scale for what we think is possible with offense like it used to be that you could win a game in college football. You know rolling four hundred yards. That was a lot of yards in a game and like they almost had that by like I think like halftime or something like that it just would would just say about this as objectively one of the best teams in college football history. It's hard to think that that's not true looking at the statistics in the way that they play. Because this is almost. Don't even tell the story it's the W- it's like looking at them seeing them. See Joe Berle escaping from pressure throwing it up to Jim Arches in Jefferson borough handing off to cloud Edward C. They're like it's just really difficult to imagine what couldn't offense due to be better than what. Lsu was this year even talked about the defense but they just weren't the most unstoppable applicable force. I've seen in college football history and Clemson just unfortunate league for them ran into a buzzsaw. I don't think there's anything they could have done differently. That would change the outcome. What struck me is that it felt like Lsu had the best offensive players on the field at every position? My Far Clyde Edwards Hilar- was was fun and like Barry Sanders last night. He was ploughing people over Randy. MOSSES chugh didn't even mention scored two or was it three touchdowns I lost count. The wide receiver core seemed to be three inches taller and two steps faster than anyone that Clemson was able to put on them. It it really felt like a a mismatch which is crazy in a championship game against the team that had lost in what two years I mean it feels I like that. In retrospect but the feeling very stressed out partisan you know you have to remember clemson was ahead seventeen to seven. LSU had not had a ten point deficit set all year. There is so much talk going into the game about Brent Venables the clemson defensive coordinator and his wizardry with scheme and how he's able to confuse views opposing offenses quarterbacks and offensive coordinators. And that certainly was true for the first three series of that of the game. LSU punted three consecutive times which. This is the first time they had done that all year. They're also playing really well with field position. Lsu was pinned deep every time. And so you know it did not look like Lsu she was indomitable and unstoppable and that it was a pure talent mismatch. And so. I think you have to give credit to burrow.

Your hotels You you know where you're staying the whole the whole thing so I don't read too much into doubt you're already in the The walks phase. When you get here? You're not really really getting after it in practice so I think that was too much of a big deal will Lsu have a significant homefield advantage. Tonight it really fun. I keep bringing this up with people that That I've worked with that. Were here in twenty eleven twenty eleven obviously was the rematch. Lsu and Bama You know and I I was actually talking to Lsu people yesterday. I still think that is the most impressive resume I've ever seen in in a regular season college football and the the idea that they had the play Bama again just wasn't I not fair but it just it you you you look back in it and that season doesn't get do So you know in that game. I was talking to people on like I thought Obama had more people Blair than Lsu and all the people were really quick to point out like we didn't have one thing that cheer for that game was twenty one. Not right they. You didn't get the ball over the fifty yard line until the fourth quarter So that that kind of made sense to me But that's the most people I've ever seen here in the city when that game LSU Does have A more more presence here obviously and I think it's only going to increase today as you know. The majority of their fans could just drive into the city today. for the twenty the twenty eleven title game was the year the ninety six regular season. Game right yeah the yeah you know. Sometimes these things get overrated. You know in terms. I mean Clemson's going to get their fair should share tickets and they've got they got a fan base that travels big time and they won it last year but it it. It's not like you're walking into the superdome to face the saints. It tonight Clemson in terms of the crowd. I don't think any chance this game. And this time period. And also I'm thinking he's wanting to win next year in being first team to go three back to back national championships. Now, neil. Let me ask you this. By talking. We're talking about Nick Sabin here. Don't you think he wants to win every game every year? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But I'm thinking that no other coats could ever do that. Well, he he came pretty close. He was undefeated and how to lead in the twelfth game of of a shot at three p he'd let it slip away. It's very difficult to do. I listen. I don't know. I Nick savings basic method methodology is not to think about anything other than what's right in front of him. So whether he would ever admit that it's unlikely I think Nick Sabin, if you I mean just think about if he wins this year. That's another undefeated season. He had one in two thousand and nine one less game. It's a seventh national championship. Right. We stay as mayor while. No, no, no. It doesn't tag it. It it. It breaks bears record. Well, you have good day. Okay. I'm thanking the call. But I really don't think Nick saving is going, man. I could be undefeated. I can be fifteen or no. And that. Be careful. You're the objective of the playoffs is to find the best team that's out there. And when you start getting down to places like six seven and eight on the list. I don't think you're anywhere near the best teams in the country. Also on that, you know, they they have heartburn over a couple SEC teams in there. If you looked at the ratings two three weeks ago and took the top teams it had Georgia Alabama LSU all in the playoffs at one time. It's true. Listen. It's it's a subjective conversation. But you're right. It should be the best. But everyone I it it usually is the best unless people want to come up with reasons why then shouldn't be like two offices to SEC schools. Yeah. More deserving deserving should never be used in this conversation. One man's opinion. Here. I think the best four teams the best man chip would have been to see Alabama play Ohio State and the other matchup would have been Clemson playing Georgia. I would agree with that. I could have lived without without Notre Dame in this fourteen playoff in an Oklahoma's. Well, I think but we just couldn't look past Ohio state's loss to Purdue. And we couldn't look past LSU LSU beating Georgia by double digits. Yeah. Then the last thing being from the north here with the Green Bay Packers without a head coach up here. There's a lot of noise about looking for Nick Sabin to come there. Your thoughts. Yeah. I mean, I think Nick savings agent probably gets a call from every NFL owner or in the cowboy excuse me in the Packers case someone someone who manages the team. "Do I'm gonna ask you about a team and give me your impressions as they're doing today. LSU LSU boy, I'll tell you the thing I like about LSU, Tony is they're not fraudulent at all. They don't go out. And try to be who they are not in what they're not capable of being they play good defense. They play physical brand of football. They go out, and they emphasized the running game and they protect their quarterback who comparatively to some other guys in the league is probably limited a little bit physically. So I think they protect what they're good at. And what they know that they can do they understand they have some limitations in there. No fraudulent aspects to Ed ordrs football team, the university of Florida had bounced back after that loss to Missouri at home. Where do you think the Gators are right now, I'm sorry. You're breaking up a little bit. What team are we going with university of Florida university of Florida after that tough loss to Missouri. They bounce back. Whereas Dan Mullins group right now, I think as a team that's still searching mentally and emotionally to sort of figure out who they are. They have some talent they have guys watch their edge rushers attack the quarterback. What's Jordan scarlet when he gets in space watch the Michael p Ryan run the football, but you've had inconsistencies at quarterback and you've had inconsistencies with physical play in the middle of the defense and along the offensive line for the majority of the season. So still attempting to find out who they are as a team what kind of team they can be. I know it's late in the season still to be doing that. But sometimes with the coaching change when you have to mix and match maneuver, different pieces of your team. It takes a long time to sort of figure that out. Call a new I wanted to ask you about this Texas am against you. I'm trying to convince people guys UAB is a is a good football team. They're very well coached. Does you babe? Kind of put out feelers that they were looking for grad transfer. He put out some feelers to to scouts in in NFL scouts in in other assistant coaches and someone I guess name MRs aim, but he's he's a special teams coordinator believe in Iowa State and key is he he played at he played it USC, and he actually played under ORs Ron believe in the late nineties Pete Carroll era. And so there was that little connection there. He and he got he knew of code frac- from California told LSU LSU, you know, reached out the whatnot assumption. College code Frazier that division to school in Massachusetts in boom. You know, he ended up arriving arriving LSU within a few months of being contacted, and he was a grad transfer. So he plays immediately. Get one year of eligibility. And yet he's been incredible for him. I think he's missed two or three field goals. I don't know. Exactly. Number around twenty twenty two makes like that. I mean, it's been it's been pretty incredible LSU record made popular goals and game earlier this year. I think it was against a Mississippi State. I it's just been he's been incredible. I really have. All right. We'll stay on the topic of grad transfer is obviously a huge story was Joe Burroughs, arrival and performance thus far as they've won a lot of games. What is the what would you say is there is consensus about Joe borough season, thus far with you know, -mongst the people whose eyeballs are most trained on him coaches fans, anybody in general is there a general feeling of like he's not the most consistent guy, but he's definitely a timely guy. And he's ours. Is there any sense like that? I think would would you wanted in a quarterback is. Honestly, somebody that they've had in the past at crazy that sound they they want somebody who just managed the game. Well, doesn't make mistakes. They know they have some pretty good skill players around Joe, and they always have a solid running game. Even though that it return a big running back. So they just kinda needed that guy with with that. So call you know, moxy in that leadership Gill and in that ability to make plays with his feet a little bit in not turn the ball over in. Joe has checked all of those boxes Pacific ly-, the leadership kinda moxie box in his numbers aren't great in. They don't you know, LSU because 'cause this is so good. It's running game always so strong. They don't really need the numbers to be great. I think deeper into editors rights tenure here two three years from now. I think he would like a quarterback that can make a little more plays and have a little more passing game. But right now, this is. Eating them in. Joe hasn't made a lot of turnovers but more so he's really kinda won the team, and he's with his leadership, and and just to his his ability to be that gritty kind of player who in key situations make place. It's debts aren't great. But in key situations. He makes plays and he's got that kind of leadership ability and again across across the ball from him, the defensive show strong that he doesn't need to go out and be crazy. And you've got a great kicker that. Yeah. That that would they feel comfortable when they cross that thirty five yard line that they have least three point. So all that kinda helps him be the player that that he is. So you mentioned in two three years because borough will be back next year has another year eligiblity in two three years coach, oh and the offense of staff imagine or picture or have excuse me, a vision for what perhaps the quarterback of the future looks like for LS your the system the ski. Team of the future looks like for LSU. Are we in a one point oh of this offense with you know, the transition from from Canada Stevens bigger, and if so what is that grand vision? Does this offense look appreciably different in two or three years with time? Well, it's it's weird. Because when when Anna was wrong to over he preached having you know, a balanced offense with a passing threat. Ben hasn't had it if you're years he kinda one that you wanted more of a spread offense they are slowly slowly making their way toward that reds game..

"Did you make out of Penn State yesterday is squeaking, past, Appalachian state well I didn't get to watch the whole game I saw mostly bits and pieces I'll watch. It very closely in the next couple of days because I. Have an state and Pitt next weekend in Pittsburgh so first of all I'm glad they won right because of our game next week But obviously they got. All that, they can handle and ask for and more by very game Appalachian state team their quarterback. Played extremely well they did not back down and you know they went for the win with. The long field goal at. The end knowing it. Was gonna, probably be tough. To win and over overtime but. I'll tell you what I give I give. App state a lot of credit because they went in there they were not intimidated and they gave Penn State everything. They could handle yet the other messages big ten teams you might wanna stop scheduling Appalachian state for your openers on eleven years. To the day some some debuts yesterday Cuyler Murray at Oklahoma JT Daniels at? USC, rallied the troops in the second half from. A second half deficit and Trevor. Lawrence came on put some time with Kelly Bryant at Clemson Trevor Lawrence three touchdown passes five scoring drives Nettie engineered of. Those quarterbacks tied who, made their debuts which do you think had the better debut You know it's it's hard to say I heard you talking to coach Brown about Dwayne Haskins he's another guy he made. His debut, as a starter you know and and was spectacular as was to Tunga by law Loa. In his first time as a starter in You know I gotta throw a couple of other names in, there your in all those guys, were impressive, but I look at the competition too I think what Jarret stidham did yesterday against a very good Washington, defense in, gutting out that twenty one to sixteen win twenty. Six to thirty six to seventy three and a touchdown and then will Greer against a you know a pretty lively athletic Tennessee defense put on a performance that Heisman guys do and. Heisman hopefuls do twenty-five thirty. Four four hundred and twenty nine yards and five touchdowns so I I, really tip my hat to those two guys even though were established starters because of the caliber of team they were. Playing and this is the beauty of college football we don't have a preseason so when all of these guys step on the field in week. One we, haven't seen them for a. Quarter or two quarters like you do in the NFL. And I think. You're right a lot of it is, coming into, this year at college football early on your question marks Todd Blackledge calling the game tonight on ABC television With Sean McDonough return of Sean to college football LSU in Miami entitled leads perfectly into our game because. Again what are the question marks coming in is LSU's quarterback situation half they finally found one in Joe, borough I think we'll answer that question Tonight. I don't think we know, the answer here's Joe Burrows appeared appeared in ten games he's got very, nice statistics never started a game and obviously the bottom line is he couldn't beat out Dwayne Haskins that's why he was looking for a new home he, found one at LSU and so, he's hoping to have a great show tonight at ordure odd and Steve ends winger are. Hoping for him? To have, a great showing and what a better stage your opportunity for him against a very fast and talented Miami defense on the other side you've got the Miami hurricanes. Last year offensively Melik Rhodesia and then just figure. It out has that changed you know, I don't know that it's changed a whole lot. Because the reason so much fell on his. Shoulders last year is because they don't have a dominant offensive line I think Travis homers a very good running back I think he's a high quality player but they didn't have a dominant line last year I think they'll be. Better upfront, this year I still don't know that they would be a, dominant group and and this defense they are. Going to face tonight and LSU I think will be the. Best defense they will face all season and. Less they get to the. ACC championship game again. And would face off with Clemson I think one good thing for. Me Rozier is that he gets them on Richard's. Back healthy he was only, healthy for one game last year he's the most dynamic player on the, Miami offense and him being healthy is is really good news for a quarterback eight tied at the end of the first quarter what indicator are you gonna, be looking at where you may, have a have the temperature of how this game is going to go I think which. Offensive line can? Block because, these two defensive fronts are both really active really fast the front sevens bolt defensive coordinators Manny Diaz for Miami Dave Aranda for LSU they liked to get creative. And how they bring pressure in past situations so. A lot is going to be determined, early by which offensive line can keep their quarterback. Upright keep the cleanest pocket and also established. A little bit of a run game so I think it comes down to which one of those big groups up front has Has the best show of it early in the ball game is Todd Blackledge calling, the game. On ABC television tonight with Sean, McDonough and Holly Rowe, LSU and Miami coming. Up next kickoff in this game the hurricanes offense powered by Melik Rozier. On defense you've got the turnover chain for the LSU Tigers they've always had defense they've always had, running backs do they actually have a quarterback we begin to answer that question. Coming up next tech.

"Lsu the vardi been so inconsistent inconsistent on i even in game perspective but they're going to be favoured and every other game but one alabama so at least on paper it's a team it should be at least 9 and 3 but here's the thing you gotta give the guy shot here now and he goes into the swamp gives the win against this when cure but what i'm saying is his players are jews he's just getting his players into the mix here and you had to get an look he led brandon harris should transfer how'd that work africare alana's gets refer sixty yards on saturday 3 interceptions or whatever was i mean this guys abysmal in that it's been the problem for a less you an eddie owes address that to the media said look we need to have quarterbacks here quarterbacks a controlled the ball for we're going to compete we've got to have two three quarterbacks and he's concentrating on that and that's huge for lsu they need that they know they need that the defense and special teams look and the receivers we find out are pretty good usually when they get to the pros we don't realize that good down there was no one to throwing the ball at ling is serviceable he's an interim qb stature not flashy finding ways to win but at the end of the day you know they need to uh have a good solid quarterback and outside of men burger really who's been there that could throw the football you know we saw russell was there and i guess he do through that he'd your touched down the burn me against kentucky into the game how did that happen last played have it that's like two thousand and what i mean allied in a long time they don't have many quarterbacks here's tennessee getting a crazy score with forty eight seconds to go on a third and.
