Philadelphia behavioral health commissioner is moving on
"Is losing the man who has led the fight against the opioid crisis and other behavioral issues in the city. We have more from KOW City Hall bureau chief Pat Lowe Commissioner David Jones's leaving Philadelphia to head the substance Use and prevention office for the state of Illinois Mayor Jim Kenney says he'll be missed. We wish him well. He's doing a fabulous job for us. While he's been, Jones earned wide respect as he grappled with the ballooning opioid epidemic. Make the department greatly expanded access to medically assisted treatment, the work that we could really made a big difference. Jones also had success with housing first strategy for people with behavioral health issues, who were also dealing with homelessness. Nearly 1000 people were given homes alongwith services when you look back five years somewhere around 88% of their remains successfully how Jones says he also brought a trauma, focus to treatment and change the response to mental health crises in youth to keep them in the community. Instead of inpatient facilities. We started to see better treatment outcomes for Children and families. And so that was significant. Jones announced his resignation last week. Philadelphia sued over bill limiting flavored tobacco sales
"Officials struck back today at three cigar makers that are suing the city over a bill that limits the sales of flavor. Tobacco products. Okay, whatever you City Hall bureau chief Pat Lowe reports, the officials charged. The suit is a threat to both public health and racial justice. Late last year, City Council banned the sale of candy flavored cigarillos in any establishment that allowed Children inside the cigar makers charge. This was effectively a ban on all sales since few stores are adult on Lee. And they sued on three grounds that the law is preempted by state tobacco regulation that it's vaguely worded and overly broad. These companies ought to be ashamed of themselves. Health Commissioner Tom Farley says. The products are designed to appeal to Children with bright packaging and sweet flavours, alleging the intention is to get them addicted to nicotine. A drug that kills this is like selling Coke, good 19 and corner stores. Doctor Farley says the products particularly target minority youth before the law, they were much more widely available in communities of color. RH Profits With Travel Spending Shifted to High-End Home Decor
"The company formerly known as restoration hardware. Honey Monster second quarter profits much higher than expected strong overall sales. And shares of RH are up more than twenty, two percent today in the stock sitting in all time high. Are you just kind of interesting because a lot of what we're talking about right now is people will look at revenue growth look at dooms growth in the quarter or all of these different companies and are each only increased revenue less than a percent. But the really impressive thing was like you said, Christie increase in their gross margin, they're operating margin and. They're not march and their earnings per share. So I think it's kind of a different look than a different response than we've been seeing a lot for these high growth tech stocks. This is more of a company that showing they have a lot of pricing power and they are growing in a less a way that we haven't seen very a lot recently. Yeah RH is. For anyone who's ever been in the restoration hardware you it's one of those stores you walk in. It's like. Well, it's it's clearly nice stuff. It's quality merchandise. Some of it is exceptionally pricey, but I think this. This probably goes along with the narrative. In the same direction as the narrative that we've seen in the last six months with companies like wayfair and Home Depot and Lowe's where. More people are looking around the homes that they are trapped in and saying all right I'm if I'm not going to go on a vacation I'm gonNA spend money improving this place that I live in. Yeah and that was called out in the share holder letter for this quarter, they talk about the elevated level of spending in the home. So yet the booming real estate activity accelerated shift for moving to your home. A lot of people are leaving the city's moving to the suburbs and then taken homebuilding trying to renovate to make sure their workplace is the best place they can have possible and because you're talking about it, I did spend a good chunk of my morning on the restoration hardware look book website, and I now want to buy a five thousand dollar couch. Well I'll be look I'd like to buy A. New Couch. It costs five thousand dollars in. That's why I'm just gonNa stick with couch that I have. The last check what's on craigslist for one hundred dollars? For the growth that this stock has seen and look, we've seen a lot of stocks you mentioned Zoom Zoom in this category, even with the recent drop over the past week or so Tesla, which started out the year at around eighty five dollars a share is still. Around I don't know this morning before the market opened it was close to three ninety. Restoration hardware is up roughly five times in value. Since late March, I, Know Cherry picking the bottom, but it's a reminder that it's not just the. Sexy tech companies that can have these kinds of returns. where I'm going with this Maria, is that for all of this growth restoration hardware and I can't call it h I'm sorry. This company still seven and a half billion dollar company. This is not huge. Do you think? This is still an acquisition target because it seems like sort of thing in the same way that people have said about wayfair despite wayfair growth. You know someone could still come in and make them an offer. Restoration hardware is. Not a very big company and it appears to be very well run, and as you said, they're really doing good things with their margins. I think it's a possibility. So wayfair is about twenty four, billion dollars right now I? Think it has a niche within the luxury market and that's what in their earnings call. They also talk about how they. Have elevated their shift to a luxury brand with luxury market with luxury margins at a higher pace than they anticipated and so I think that if you're looking to expand into this niche, it would be a really interesting acquisition target for them. They do in their letter also talk about all of their long-term growth plans and some of them are kind of lofty they're planning. To Open hotels, they have a luxury yacht called the h three that is available for charter in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. So they have pretty lofty goals of what they want to be. So I wonder if they don't think they want to be acquired but I think if I was a company looking to grow into that luxury niche, this would be something I'd be considering.
PPP Loans Help Nearly 200 Philadelphia Businesses
"Philadelphia businesses would get a crack at cash from the payroll protection program. Says it helped about 200 of those businesses, awarding a total of more than $7 million. Notably City Hall bureau chief Pat Lobe has the story. Dr. Santa Coriolis tried to get a P P P loan from two different large banks last spring when no one was coming to his cardiology practice, and it looked like you might have to lay off his six employees. He got nowhere. Then he heard about Linda Stry was almost like a breath of questions. I'll tell you, I was able to very quickly put my education. I was getting very clear. Brooklyn Nets hire Hall of Famer Steve Nash as head coach
"Welcome to the low post podcast where the plan was to talk hilariously awful game sevens and DEFCON. In Milwaukee with the one and only Kevin Arnovitz but Mr Kevin Arnovitz about five minutes ago news dropped from the news gods on Mount Olympus of Basketball Steve Nash Steve Freaking, Nash, two time. NBA Mvp. The point God of the seven seconds less Phoenix Suns will become the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. This is I think the first one since Brad, Stevens to Boston were like the news came although that came via a press release the celtics that one themselves where the news came like an earthquake with absolutely no warning no rumors know anything all the rumors moghreb Popovich a note, Steve Nash. So Steve Nash Has Minimal coaching experiences consulted team Canada. I'm not sure again this just happened I haven't looked up his exact role, a team Canada he was a consultant with the Golden State, warriors GM. You might have been the GM GM Canada. You're right. And I think clearly relevant in his consultation with the Golden State. Warriors developed a close relationship with Kevin Durant and I and they worked together in the off season a lot on various aspects of Katie's game in I interviewed. Steve Two years ago. About Kevin I wrote a big piece in the two thousand eighteen finals or so anti climactic that my big final piece was not about the finals at all it was about like what is Kevin Durant WanNa be as a basketball player like what is Kevin Durant? You Know Kevin Durant and his entire career has been. You could argue who was the quote best player on the team with the warriors not with the thunder he was clearly the best player on the thunder team but was never the lead ball handler of his team. So I wrote this sort of like, what is Kevin Durant and Steve Talk to me in depth about their relationship and about how after the warriors won the first title he and Kevin would talk about how Kevin did not fill fulfilled by. Winning that title in the way that he expected that it did not give him the fulfillment that he expected all this. So I, think that's obviously A big reason why Kevin by Steve Nash is now the coach of the nets. I mean the nets have lots of stuff to not figure out they have to superstars coming back carousel avert head. As you know like a superstar scoring run I guess in the bubble they gotTA figure out fits those guys I mean, what's your? What's this just happened? What do you think what's happening? So, one way to look at this is what is the head coach's role in two thousand and twenty, twenty one and to a great extent. Especially when you have talent like durant irving, you're in the talent management business, you're in the business of men managing relationships, empowering players the right way. Their XS and os no. By the way if there's anybody who's the personification of modern basketball, it's this guy or like everything you and I talk about every single time I'm on can in some ways be traced back to that son's team. So you're talking about a guy with an enormous. Basketball IQ and by all accounts and emotional IQ as well. So. So, that that is the case sport that that look that is the primary responsibility of the New Jersey Nets. Can you listen to me Brooklyn Nets had could they're
Covid-19 Is Changing Back-to-School Shopping
"Back, to school shopping is on a bit of a delay during the pandemic just look at the numbers August data from the National Retail Federation Shows K. through twelve shoppers had completed only forty one percent of their buying on average that's down from fifty four percent at the same time last year and the lowest level since twenty twelve and people may also by differently this year according to the survey sales of flash drives, mice, desks, and chairs are expected to increase. Let's. Bring in Wall Street Journal Retail Reporter Sara Nassauer Good Morning Sarah Morning Sarah. Let's start with a comparison from twenty nineteen to now just how steep of a decline are these stores facing? It's going to be very steep. It's it's really night and day last year the economy was strong back to school was a really strong season for a lot of retailers, and now it's really ground to a halt in in many cases and I think everyone can sort of experience i. Think until about last week, the only school supplies I bought for my kids masks it's going to be a really different back to school season retailers would see this as really they're one of the prime shopping periods of the year. It helps them make the quarter and instead off a lot of retailers have reported earnings recently and talked about a season that a super unpredictable because most the majority of American children are not starting school back in a classroom and starting remote. So, you don't need to buy school supplies in the same way. So retailers are kind of planning to spread things out. You know target talked about having back to school supplies in stores for a longer period of time than they would've normally because they said just. So unpredictable Hobo sales and promotions, and is that a way to make up for any losses you know they're gonNA generally right now we're not in a promotion period for retailers retailers have said over and over again. When we're shopping right now, we're not really looking for a deal were going out to the store and get it done and they don't need to discount to get us to buy things. So that has really helped them be profitable and I think that will continue through the holiday and back to school season. As far as merchandises concerned, are some of the big box retailers changing what they would normally carry this time of year, we've got fall weather approaching. Are they sticking with what has worked in the past? They're basically sticking to what has worked in the past back to schools are pretty classic merchandising season. You know we buy some clothes, you buy some school supplies. There's always something that is a little different each ear the selection hasn't. Changed so much it's just the quantity that they're gonNA supply. They don't want to get over inventoried and the period of time that we're GonNa see this stuff in stores is going to be stressed out because there's some school districts where you're starting remote but you might go back to class and your teacher might ask you to get something in three weeks that normally they would have asked you to get you know at the end of last. School year are there any winners and losers in the back to School of Reno I'm wondering if stores that sell electronics perhaps doing better than stores that that focus on clothing I think that that's that's exactly right. I think. You know think about the stores where you can go to get something that you would need not only for an ins classroom experience or the school closed, for example, but also remote learning That's gonNA favor some of. The big box stores, the electronic retailers that have a variety of merchandise. You know if you're an apparel retailer in your school district you know in the school districts where you have stores are back in school parents are going to be really hesitant to buy a whole bunch of new clothes. As you know back to school shopping can give us a look into the holiday shopping season any hints or is that just too hard to do I think it's really unpredictable. I think back to school is just it's so unique because of this remote school issue, it's not necessarily a good straight read on sort of the health of the consumer generally the the whole corona virus period has been really hard to predict this way. GDP. Shrinking and yet you have retailers like target Walmart Costco home, Depot Lowe's reporting. You know comp sales up twenty percent So sort of the normal patterns that we would look to to gauge some of those things just don't work anymore I think that the consumer slowing down, we're definitely seen signs of that government stimulus has run out the additional unemployment benefit ran out at the end of July. So slowing things down a little bit. So I think we'll see how that that's probably the biggest issue. How does that impact things in the next few weeks and how does that set up retailers for the holiday season?

Philadelphia's record overtime costs during pandemic a red flag
"Spent more than $200 million on overtime in the last fiscal year, according to the financial watchdog agency, known by the acronym Picco. They want Ella to City Hall Bureau chief Pat Lowe reports. That's a record high. Executive director Harvey Rice says It's understandable that overtime for police fire and street spike during the civil unrest in June but thought it should have been balanced by savings from employees working at home and from better staffing in city departments. That's a concern to us and it's a red flag. City budget director Marissa Waxman says 80% of the overtime was in public safety and overtime constitutes 4% of the budget. So, she says, while the city is committed to try to reduce costs He doesn't see overtime is all bad, just a means to providing services. Philadelphians need services this year, perhaps more than any I can remember, and we're not able to get at 5 p.m. every day. If we want to get the job, John Pike is still thinks it's a problem. It's order the city to submit an overtime reduction plan in September and will be monitoring at monthly instead of quarterly. Pat Lobe

Pandemic Nesters Are Driving a Renovation Retail Boom
"You to join me for a trip down memory lane back to the early days of the pandemic all the way back in late April stay home orders were widespread. Many businesses were closed. Remote workers were in the middle of Zoom boom and a Harvard. University report predicted that spending on home remodeling was going to drop like a stone. Oh. How wrong they were turns out as people spent more time at home. They got sick of their surroundings and they decided to do something about it since homeowners weren't spending money on movies, restaurants or vacations for the most part they began pouring those extra dollars into home improvements think hot tubs, patios decks. June demand for outdoor remodeling professionals was up nearly sixty percent over the previous year. So says, Home Improvement Platform House requests for estimates from kitchen and bath makeovers was up about forty percent. Among the beneficiaries of this domestic spending shift were home improvement giants Home Depot and Lowe's since hardware stores are considered essential businesses. They've never had to close their doors and customers kept walking through them on mass in their respective earnings calls. Last week, both retailers demolished already optimistic expectations. Home. Depot. Second. Quarter revenue jumped nearly twenty five percent over last year lows had even better news with a thirty percent spike in sales. Lows bigger bump is attributed to its customer makeup which includes slightly more do it yourself remodelers. They're the people who see a blank wall either WANNA tear it down or paint a mural on it. Diy. remodelers have been a big driver of the home improvement trend according to the Wall Street Journal analysts say lows has done a better job appealing to these can-do consumers. A recent marketing campaign featured a cast member from the Netflix's hit queer eye. But Home Depot has been more successful in courting contractors and boy. They've been busy lately as remote workers leave their tiny city apartments in search of open spaces they're finding suburban homes with small mortgage rates and big renovation needs the type you need professional help for. The home improvement retailers have taken different approaches to respond to demand to home depot is opening three new distribution centers in its home state of Georgia. Over the next eighteen months, the center will support growing demand for flexible delivery and pickup options for both professional and diy customers. The company said in a statement lows on the other hand is going for a more distributed approach within two years. It plans on opening fifty delivery terminals, seven distribution centers, and for e commerce fulfillment. Centers. We're quite proud of her immunisation registry, so that is something to build on here and an example to use elsewhere. Doctor Farley says. The group already has an idea of how to prioritize who gets the vaccine. First people who are medically vulnerable. For example, nursing home residents. And they've just concluded Look Russ is not a three point shooter anymore. He's not a jump shooter. We can't have two guys who can't shoot on the floor just doesn't work so we're going to just go wall in on if we have to trade big for small. We'll do that now. They're fifteenth and defenses things. Stand now. That's not good enough and I don't know how they're going to get good enough with this roster that's they're counting outing on turnovers and pays and if you try to offensive rebound against us and you don't get it Bam we're running out with Russ okay. That's great to win the NBA title. which is the goal here? You know that this ownership group is not going to be satisfied with losing the second round or something you gotta play defense. And that's where the rubber meets the road for these guys A team that was supposed to be a historically a great defense the Philadelphia Seventy sixers are thirty one in twenty there are six in the east. I don't care how awkward the fit is how much time it was going to take. How many injuries they have had and they've had some judge a certain? Now that is a disappointment. Al Horford voice some comments today that I think are being sensationalized. A little bit about how we've got a call some some people out in the locker room or some such thing. What's going to happen here? Can they do anything at the deadline or is this a wait and see how they do in the playoffs. Kind of thing Zach. Short sort of making a wholesale trade of one of their elite corps. Max Players which. There's been no suggestion. They're ready to do that. You know even Al Horford still trying to figure out how to play with that group. What is role is what they need from him? The feeling in Philly as we need Al Horford to beat the bucks we need his is. We need to be big against them. And so you look around. The periphery on their roster. The Mike Scott's the Zehr Smith's a first round pick. It's not going to bring back much and we talk about. It's a team that needs shooting. They really have missed. Jj rettig They they knew they wouldn't be able to afford to keep him. "Plus offer sheet for him. I think it's realistic. We'll see Kemba Walker Charlotte Hornets. Boy, they're in a between a rock and a hard place. You either pay Kemba a lot of money and lock yourself into a team that isn't very good. Or you let him walk in, then it's paint time Zac. If they were going not going to pay him. They knew the neighborhood, it was gonna take the keep him and that was guaranteeing that fifth year on a deal. Then why didn't you trade him at the deadline? That's what I don't understand if they were to just let him walk here. Yeah. I mean, the noise is been all over the place. And, you know, all indications are he came out and said, he would take a little bit less than two supermax. I don't think they were ever going to offer him. It's actually good. It's a good play. I'm going to I'm going to take less. Less of something that they were never going to offer me anyway. So when you do the looks like you were Bonello it was a smart play by Kemba. He's still going to be a player who potentially is going to get a nearly two hundred million dollar deal in Charlotte one, seventy one ninety what's the number at the Michael Jordan comes to a we'll see. And I'm fascinated if that deal dubs, come to how are they getting under the tax? How many picks are assets or stretch provision waivers? What are they doing to get under? The let's move on Al Horford opting out of his deal with Boston telegraphing to the Celtics. He has a place or places he would rather play, what is the latest on Mr. L. Well, it is a source of great intrigue, among front offices all over the league. You're not agents who are trying to figure out who really has cap space and who's cap spaces phantom, because they have Al Horford slotted in their Al Horford is a smart player. He's got a smart agent. Jason glue schon. They are not walking away from Boston without knowing that, there is something significant out there. And that significant deal is probably at four years, perhaps over one hundred million dollars. There was a limit where Danny Ainge boss wanted to go Al Horford. They do value him greatly, but he's thirty three years old idea of going for four years smart play by Boston. It's the right play. And it's going to get bossom salary cap space and flexibility, if they want to go after a Kemba Walker in Kolevic, they can do some things in free agency to. We'll see. I mean if he wants his set in stone deal on June thirtieth that would seem to rule out teams for Horford that need to make decisions on three or four different players, which would seem to rule out. So my favorite Misra teams. That's that's another day. The most mysterious big-name free agent on the market, DeMarcus cousins. What are we supposed to do at the markets cousins?.

And there's a certain sunk cost element to that. Well, we gotta keep them all this stuff, and everyone forgets about JJ Rennick. And the noise about Philly is absolutely all over the place. What they're going to do. What they might do it changes every day. They're different players become attached to them. I have my own opinion. But what are you hearing? What is the what, what on Butler hairs take your pick? What is if you had to pick your most likely Philly scenario as well? There's two things here, first of all, they've got a one them all back to have to want to pay all of them. And then those players have to want to play with each other. Tobias Harris want to be the fourth option now he could get paid, like a first or second option. He's gonna I'm sure look at that Jimmy Butler, same thing. He's. Going to have other options. They'll Maury trying to partner him up in Houston and JJ read, if we don't talk about JJ. He is played tremendous tremendous era, where when he's not on the floor that we're his shooting feels like this is literally, the most important thing going on in their offense is that they have this guy running around. I think there are a lot of voices in Philadelphia brand is a general manager, and he is in charge, but you've got multiple owners you have other strong voices in the front office, and on the business side. And, and sometimes this conversation goes round and round there, because there isn't an easy answer because financially, this will strap this organization to bring back everybody all that money and then Ben Simmons. How does we saw the playoffs? You know, Jimmy Butler was the playmaker in the playoffs, and they weren't playing Ben Simmons down the stretch, and Ben Simmons is up for his max extension, and he's not taking a dollar less than the max and so. Those things are all playing into. What's the cost of this thing moving forward? And that to me is the most. The most interesting part is how dependent they were on Jimmy to run the offense in the playoffs and the timing of this is interesting because of Jimmy doesn't take deal from them right away, to, they start to panic and worry. And that brings us to the guy. We haven't talked about co Leonard, it seems like it's a team races that is that fair at this point. Yeah. Toronto the clippers and I think they've kept their eye on the Lakers, that's gonna look like Lakers financially. Can they get to what number are they going to get two free agency in terms of cap? Spaces Anthony Davis, going to give up that four million dollar trade bonus he still has time to do that before July six and that deal goes through, but this has been raptors clippers race. And the raptors messiah Jerry that organization all the credit in the world because when they traded form he had no intention of ever staying in Toronto. And now it is a serious consideration. I think he's I think he is really gay. Given them every opportunity to sell him and two things that have worked in Toronto. They, they sold him on health. They proved they could keep them healthy, and they sold them on winning. And those are priorities for Leonard. He has shown he is all about winning, and they couldn't have made a better case winning. The title helps it turns out the interesting thing to me is if he's going to meet with the clippers and all indications are that he is. And he wants to bring another guy with him there. Well, who is that other guy is that guy going to wait for Kawai to commit to the clippers and is that guys team going to wait for all those things to happen? Do they move on all these dominoes?.

"If it didn't come. How do you recruit players in the future of you don't make those offers to K D And Klay Thompson when they played hurt for you? I think it makes us an organization. It makes it top to go forward and recruit players in the future. I think they're coming and there's a name we haven't brought up that's been connected with Kevin Durant for a long time. And that's Irving. And that's what we will talk to when we will come back and talk Eastern Conference basketball. Maybe all right. All right. Welcome back to the silly season special the MBA silly season is here. We talked a lot about Kevin Durant. We did not talk at all in the first segment about the much rumored superstar to be going with him. And that's Irving and in kind of an unexpected twist over the last month all the noise has been about Brooklyn, the Brooklyn nets fresh off a sort of a fun playoff appearance spirited season. All that maybe getting one maybe getting both again. Katie's injury kind club that loge what is like, what do we actually know is going on with Brooklyn? And Katie and kyri, well kyri. The reason he has started his gravitated over time to Brooklyn is the infrastructure. That's in place there. You look at the role players. They have Kyrie Irving, MRs ten games of the season twelve or fifteen. He know Spencer, did what he comes in and starts, and they're not gonna lose all those games. And you look at the roster in New York, you know, listen, they would try to bring some veteran from veterans if they signed him in K D, but there's an infrastructure their care sliver, and Jared Allen, and Joe, Harris players who have shown they could team into the playoffs management coach there, those things have made it more attractive. And it's to the point now where I think the Knicks have had to start looking at other contingencies to try to sell Kevin Durant, and coming to them. Does that mean a Kemba Walker another free agent to partner with or just salary cap space this year? He's going to be rehab. This is a thirty eight million dollar redshirt year for Kevin Durant, wherever he signs. And but there's no question that New York has felt that thing push away from them and toward Brooklyn and Brooklyn, great position, here to get a commitment from Kyrie Irving. And then use that to pursue K D or, or perhaps another free agent..

"Number one, what, what, what have you heard about the injury, possibly giving Golden State, maybe an in that they didn't have before? Well, it's changed narrative for Kevin Durant in Golden State. It goes from the player who didn't get credit for jumping on board of seventy two win team. The, the narrative that he wasn't crucial to winning there. Will you saw that he was? And now this becomes something that's never been there and underdog story, a comeback story because by the time Kevin Durant would play again, in the NBA two teams have won championships that aren't the warriors, and so two years when he's coming back from an injury, when Klay Thompson, let's say Klay stays, and perhaps he's back at full strength with the injury. Maybe Klay comeback, some point next year. Now there are team. People are really for, and now Kevin Durant, is the builder in Golden State. He's not the guy who just jumped on and the adulation that I think maybe wasn't there for him in Golden State, it's going to be there. He has. He is beloved figure there for what he came back and did the injury that he sustained when he took great risk to play for that team. He's not going on the road anywhere in the NBA again. Like he did know class city where they're holding up cupcake signs and cupcake, t shirts, and Oklahoma City, no one's ever calling Kevin Durant, a cupcake again, that does change the narrative, and the story for K D And Golden State now is that enough to get him to stay there? We don't know that yet but they have a better case to make post injury than they did pre. Let's get to the, the case, number one. I think they will feel that they own the five-year max even after the injury now that was a no brainer. He's coming off from five-year max Afrin achilles tear. Everything's a little bit up in the air but. After what happened and, and the circumstances around it, I think they're going to say we just to him, the question I have for you is the question everyone around the league has has there been a breakdown in trust given what happened with the doctors commending that he play or giving the okay to play. And then the traumatic injury and then the, the noise of the doctor said he couldn't possibly get worse than it gets worse has been a breakdown in trust, because that would be he can't go back if there is a breakdown interest, if there were a breakdown in trust. You would imagine that Kevin Durant camp in the warriors would not be in communication, and they have been in communication. They have and so. Their ability to be able to talk through whatever potential issues. There are in trying to go forward. I think those lines of communication are open again. Does that happen? Does he stay? I think that conversation has yet to really happen. Between Durant rich climate has business manager, Bob Myers, new organization. I do think there's going to be point here with do talk before free agency starts, but there's no indication that they have been shunned by K D, that I don't believe. That's the case. Let's say clay, because we can't forget about clay. The noise all year has been he's gonna wait for that max offer them. I from what I'm told that max offer is hasn't been committed communicated to him that it's for sure coming. Right. Right. And they, you could offer your own free agent Adeel at any point here that five year one hundred ninety million dollar max offer before the injury post injury. If it's not there for Klay Thompson, Sunday at six one PM eastern the warriors could expect him to go out and take a meeting meetings. But the one team that I think that my information is that he would be very open going to sit down with our the clippers and if collide Leonard if they have a chance to be able to sell collide Leonard on a partnership with Klay Thompson, certainly, that's an appealing. That's an appealing sell for any free agent and vice versa now to be clear, just because they haven't communicated that the five one ninety max is coming doesn't mean it's not coming. In fact, I would be shocked given what it he has meant it organization..

"Your was the single most important reason in them being good personality wise, obviously that went that went the other way, the Philly thing it's interesting because you know, he if you have Simmons and Embiid on the floor. He's going to get the ball maximum third most amount of seconds touches, whatever. And in theory. He has the skill set to really be great in that role. He's a good spot up shooter. He's an elite defender he can bail you out possessions. Run some pick and roll all that. But then it just becomes a matter of like, you know, is do we paid them ex for that for the third? Most touches on the team you pay the maximum. We can stag are minutes. So he's the alpha dog in a lot of lineup. So, but we just got to buy Harris too. It's like, I just you pay four guys the max. And unless you're the warriors, and you have guys who are totally fine working off the ball who literally are or injury. On our fine averaging seven points a game. Like, it's just hard to make that work. And I wanted to the ownership is maybe tactical, you know, you sit there and you go, hey, let's tell everybody they're getting their money. So they don't have to worry about it. And then somebody wants to say we went back on our word before, but we did at least for the sake of being competitive and not having distractions. So we just here's the plan. Everybody just say, we're maxing everybody. Everybody shut up stop asking us number worry about it. We actually have to do it. Can you imagine? If one of these four teams that everyone has pencilled into the second round doesn't make it out of the first round who off and everyone's writing off Indiana who still third and I get why everyone's writing them off. But there's still third. They're still really good their pain in the ass to play against can you imagine what a catastrophe would be it would be if one of these teams whether Indiana beats them or they end up in a four five series and one of them uses like, oh my God. I'm with you. I have mitt in apologize patients fans expected to be over. I looked at it. Again this morning. I think they've won eight of their last nine. Their defense remains consistent. They've they've figured out a way which I kind of like because I felt like I always like Nate McMillan. And then a lot of people just dumped on it. Because it goes outdated the wrong kind of guy, and for whatever reason like they've gone toughness defense and finding ways to make it work every I keep expecting to go away and it hasn't. So I know that's annoying to Pacers fans. But yeah, I'm with you there. But I think this leads us into Boston. And we'll go back to the top teams in rock Milwaukee. Toronto. I never should ever use this as an example of I can't believe Celtics because look they're all emotionally involved in this whole thing. But I can't believe south expanse that are my friends or interact with that are going don't write them off. And I'm like how at this point. Could you have any faith in them figuring this thing out, maybe it happens? But so far, I don't really think there's been much evidence. Even when they had a really good stretch say December one on because they lose to some awful teams even with a full roster. And it just doesn't make any sense. So it's hard for me to think about them getting past Milwaukee Toronto or even Philadelphia who they do match up with. Well, I just I've watched him too much. And I haven't liked it. Yeah. They've had. I mean, we don't need to go. They've had very strange season. And every time you're ready to write them off. They they rise up and beat the Sixers and everytime rented say, okay, they found it the great. They lose to the bulls eye. Just the reason why you can't give up on the Celtics and actually agree with your friends. Not not that they're going to win the east radio. Right. Some all are is just when Horford plays like he has in the last month..

"I think it's okay cease pick. So you re there's really no risk in them getting Markle's if it doesn't work out. All right, whatever. And if it does like who knows you you're probably never getting a guy with his talent in the building again, or at least for that low of a price. So I'm pretty optimistic. I a couple I was not at all. I was very mad. And it was it had come from a recent of some terrible performances that they've had. But I wouldn't be surprised at all. In fact, I'm gonna book, and I think they're gonna I think they're a lock to make the playoffs. And I think they they might even win a game or two again, it depends who they play wait a minute. Are they a sneaky tough out Not not? as. Not a sneaky tough out. I think they are they're gonna they're gonna be annoying for for someone to play. They're going to be annoying Toronto or or team. No one wants to play. Yeah. Yeah. You don't wanna see them in the playoffs. What's up? Listen. It'll be the first time. I think in six years like the crowds going to be going. It's going to be awesome. So I'm I'm not saying I'm just saying here for the magic not an easy out in the first round of the playoffs. They're gonna get smoke. If the seven three, okay, I've just telling they're gonna sweetie. Good. They wouldn't be five under. But here's the thing. Because it's becoming thirty. You're right. You're right. You are hundred percent, right. But it they get up for good teams. They beat in a lot of good team this year. The problem is they lose the Celtics. Good. I mean, our shelters are good. Yeah. I mean, listen, they they beat the Lakers when the Lakers were in free-fall were this. They'd be twice. I'm just saying they're going to be done against the other top teams in the east. I don't know off. My I believe I don't know off the top of my head. I mean, I mean, they'd be magic. They beat Toronto. They beat Toronto. They beat Boston like, Ron. Now Toronto obviously, they didn't have. But it's still team. They're still better on paper a better team. And it's in it's interesting. I like Orlando better than Charlotte. Is that get you excited? I don't think. Yeah. Yeah. Listen just just give it to the best team in the division. Right. The best team in the division. Tell you why. Well, his whole time terrible division. We keep waiting for the Pacers to drop and they don't. So that'll be weird. Like eventually, he just went. Okay. They're going to end up at least outside of the top four. So they'd be the five seed. Right now, I'm just desperately trying to avoid a pistons Pacers series in the first round. But all right. How you how much did you like Marquel? Foltz before he was trading Orlando. Okay. So it's not it's not that. I it's not that. I loved Markelle Foltz. I like I like the I like taking the chance on a guy like Marco foles because I don't think Orlando I I don't think they gave up a ton. And I think it's all upside. Like who cares? If you lose a pick in the twenties that wasn't even I think picks in the twenties, courtesy. Yes. So I mean have one, you know, but the hit rate is so much lower than people making out to and you're right. A team gets to picks in the twenty two. I for them. Did you will remember when everyone fell in love with second round picks to and Chandler Parsons? Because all the I I sort of fell into that trap little bit. But you're right. We have four guys we have cut year. Yeah. But you get them at less than half a million a year. But it was great. We drafted four euros home. Never sniff the G league, but we retain their rights in case. They came over here when they're thirty and they fill out a little bit..

"If he stays with the pelicans, it's can be because five years two hundred and thirty five million dollars. That will be the reason he stays they cannot cobble together at this point. They can make the team better. But this honestly, say we're championship. I can see a championship contender here. They won't be reminds me a lot of cagey in Minnesota at the end there. This is the ultimate test of the supermax. This is what it was made for this is why the owners wanted to put it in to give a small market team. Right. Such a leg up that a player this good could not say no right now players passing on it. I would I would predict if you if you'd asked me to right now, I would predict he turns it down and players keep passing on that that supermax quite Leonard could've taken in San Antonio. He walked away from it. The same issue could potentially infect affected dynastic. Golden State words Draymond green could make himself eligible for supermax Klay Thompson could make himself eligible for super maximum. We've seen the drama that happened last month with K D And Draymond. And the whole league is sort of waiting like is this going to be the end of the warriors? And everyone says, you know, it are they picking between K D And Draymond do. They have to pick it up. My Kevin Durant might make that decision for him. He's got a lot of eight. He has all the agency. Yeah. And that's the thing. He's. Draymond green. If unless he's willing to take significantly less money, and he hasn't been inclined his clock that way, so far they can't pay for max contracts. So unless if Katie stays and Klay stays unless drains willing to take a lot less. They can't afford them. And that's that's the irony of that whole, you know of the dust up. They had is, you know, ultimately, you know, the the can't pay everybody and you'll see a different Golden State team that will have more minimum role players around the days of the Livingston's in Angola's. They won't be able to do that. In over the stretch of this next ill next max deal. The holiyay is crossing its fingers that you are correct. And we will learn a lot about this over the next couple of months leading to the trade deadline loge. It'll be fun that can't way..

"They repaid all they paid all those players who went on that late winning streak two years ago. And and now they're stuck and listen you see teams, and you don't have teams who want to take on money pass next season. They don't want to take these bad contracts on because you have lots of teams would cap space the summer, pretty good free agent class. And you're seeing Tim's who just there you're not getting your bad contracts off onto them unless you're throwing in a pick or two picks. And and most teams are in a position to do that. Yeah, we'd love to hear the Detroit sales pitch. We want to give Reggie Jackson without a pick interested in any interest in that. No. The phone line is already gone dead. You know, whereas Dion waiters amount. Even know. It's it's going to be it's going to be an interesting deadline for all those teams. Yeah, let's, you know, Detroit. They went on paid a coach Dwane Casey seven million plus a season. They didn't do that to do anything. Try to get into the postseason and like that's why they gave up so many assets for Blake Griffin. And you know, typically getting that eighth seat. Doesn't mean a lot to people. But yeah, there's a couple of teams I think you said, a Charlotte's one and certainly Detroit get into the postseason. We've already seen Utah make trade for Kyle Corby. And the west is just so crowded with with all of these teams, you know, even the clippers have kind of fallen off a little bit. And I guess they're saving all their ammo for the summer. But they've got a bunch of sort of expiring or semi expiring. Guys are pretty good players. You know, they they could get into it too. Right. I mean, it's not out of the realm of possibility. Yeah. This season has surprised the clippers eight and expect to be this good. No one did with the seasons really done for LA. It's reminded people that Doc Rivers is an elite coach when he took the front office responsibilities away and going in the free agency. I think that's important for the clippers to see what doc has done with this group and kind of take away some of the, you know, he'd been muddied a little bit with that previous group and people are seen again. This isn't a league championship coach. He's he's done a great. Job. I mean, they're they're one of the best stories in the league. Even with this slump. They play so hard and they've gotten mantras hairless come out of nowhere. But he's a six man of the year candidate. I mean, they just have tough tough players. But in our desperation index we didn't talk about the number one team. The biggest story in the NBA is what is going to happen to Anthony Davis starting now and going into the summer, and that's what we're gonna talk about next..

"So in the west right now, we have fourteen teams out of fifteen fourteen teams in the poor sons fourteen teams one the playoffs in the east. We got a bunch of mediocre capped out bad teams who spent a lot of money and would some of them would pop champagne if they just got that eighth seat a lot of potential buyers around the trade deadline a lot of desperation a lot of panic around the league, I think the team that may be best to maybe should be making. The most is Houston sixty five games last year. Re-signed Chris Paul for a bazillion dollars into his mid to late thirties recycling. Capello for a lot of money. They are now hovering painfully hovering around five hundred offered four first round picks for Jay Butler. What is this? What can they do? What are they going to do their problem right now is they're looking at this? And they know we're not one player away from anything and the player like Jimmy Butler who could have made a big impact gone his long gone that kind of players not available in. Trade talks and right now Shusen is looking at itself understanding saying we've got a lottery pick like so we're going to trade our pick to make a player who's gonna maybe just make us a little bit better. And so they're in a tough spot right now to try to find a way to improve themselves and look up and down the roster who wants any of those players twenty offered four picks. Pick players to. I just I do feel like the the few teams that are selling teams are clearly out of it. Whether it's Cleveland, Atlanta, New York, whatever. I do think one of them can get creative. And maybe make a player available. That's maybe not known to be available someone like Taurean prince in Atlanta and sue, but you can get for him. Because I mean, did they listed all my desperation teams in Detroit? They would throw a party if they got the Charlotte there did they're just under the tax. They need to get into the playoffs. These teams need upgrades, and they need upgrades badly, and you know, something is going to happen. But as you said, they also they also need upgrades, and they need to get off money, which is a tough a tough needle to thread. And and the days of teams really wanting to give up, you know, I route good first draft picks to get contracts off and less your team trying to clear cap space. Go get a big free agent. And you just have to do it. You know, Detroit. You know, they've tried to move Reggie Jackson through a couple of different regimes here. They're going to have to put a pick into a deal to do it. So far Detroit's not willing, you know, Charlotte. Same thing they have a few deals I'd like to move on. But they've got to be careful in Charlotte. Want to resign Kemba Walker? And so do they take a step back to try to take? They gotta go all in to make the playoffs unless they just give up trying and Michael Jordan. And that's how he's always run that team. He wants to get in the playoffs. And that's why they Ben this team sort of perpetually stuck in that thirty seven to forty four win window that you never wanna be in in the league. And Charlotte is kind of limited over the last few Detroit, Scott this arena, this brand new Renault that no one ever goes to a team that really would they went all in for Blake Griffin. They really would like to make then even look in the west Portland has fallen badly over the last couple of weeks. They haven't expense there over the luxury tax. They have these two really good guards. The just feels like something has to give all the Miami. We haven't talked about Miami who, you know, sneakily because they're Miami nave they've sort of sheen of LeBron and and the titles and south beach. I'm not sure they already oh. A twenty twenty one pick now to the Sixers. I'm not sure any team the league has like a bleaker long-term outlook than they don't an inex- poultry has coached them out of you know, some team. I should have won a lot fewer games, and it's kind of been some fool's gold because Eric supposed to always get the most out of a group..

"No one else is allowed on. So let me ask very simple question. Is it anyone else? Besides the raptors in the clippers the clippers might be violating stalking rules with how much they're following Colli around the NBA. Is there anyone else? Even in the race. You said it Lawrence Frank the president with the clippers. They're treating this like a college recruitment. You know, when you when you're when you're a great player, and you go on their July you circuit, and you see, you know, Jim boeheim, and my you chef skiing ROY Williams all sitting in the front row of the bleachers wearing their. Syracuse Carolina shirts. That's what the clippers are doing. Now. They haven't been at every game. But the have the president of the organization show up in Toronto in Milwaukee. Just sitting there players are seeing them other times having seeing raptor officials in a team hotel. It's unique unique way they're going about this. And if there were another team, you know, you could talk about the Lakers in LA. I'm not sure he wants to go play with Brown, but the other one that would make a lot of sense would be Philly because a defensive wing who could shoot and create off the dribble is exactly what they need. They just went out and got that guy in Jimmy Butler. And I'm not sure I want to go there anyway, but and Jimmy Butler, actually, I think the fit has been offensively better than I thought it would be early with him and Embiid and Simmons obviously and beat his sounded off a little bit. He's right. When you look at the numbers, he posts up less when those two other guys are on the floor. He takes more threes when they're on the floor. So his role has changed, but like that's life, and they'll they'll adjust their offense has played really. Well. Oh, he's made these daggers over watching them. It's gone. Pretty well. Yeah. And I think Philadelphia is going to be a great experiment in to how you put big three's together, and the kind of groups of players and people who fit together because if you look at the ones who've had great success you want championships with whether you had it was Klay Thompson in Golden State. Whether it's was Chris Bosh in Miami. That third player that third player better be a. A guy who's going to defer who's low maintenance, you have three big egos big personalities in some ways Simmons a little less. So but three big egos and Philly. How does that work? Well, it it works. You win a lot of games if you can manage it. Right. So those are the that's the story with some good teams. I'm excited to talk about some mediocre and bad teams who spent one hundred twenty million dollars on bad teams. So let's talk about that..

"And then you actually get into an interesting discussion is like is it worth it to go? Get Chris Middleton Tobias Harris or one of these sort of be list or second tier really good players and say, hey, if we got that guy plus LeBron, and we were still able to make a trade like that's not a bad outcome for us. No. And listen. And now the other question in L A now too is what is Magic Johnson do with Luke Walton if this team keeps winning if they get into the playoffs with a pretty good seed. How's he going to listen, we know since LeBron since Magic's taken over they they had been hoping to get their own coach in at some point. We saw play out in the meeting. They had early in the year where magic really. After Luke and how many games in was on. How many how many games before the tongue lashing like eight? I mean what's going on? Yeah. And so if they're going to go to genie bus and be able to sell her on replacing Luke Walton they better be trying to do it off at season when they missed the playoffs or awful long losing streak because she has been fiercely loyal to Luke wall. And that was her her higher every way, and you know, so far so far she has kept management often. They've allowed magic rob blanket a change everything there. They haven't been able to touch the wall. I never understand these teams that are good and their coach is good. And there's like some impetus to make a change unless it's one of those David Blad situations where the guy has lost the locker room, and it's sort of become a toxic situation. You just need to change. Like is there any evidence? Luke, Walton is not a good coach coached are winning. They're doing well. And I think the easiest thing. The dude is always find a coach fire the coach, and if you don't ever replacement lined up, what are you doing like the heat could have fired air exposure of? And they were. And eight and the best thing that it was not firing. If you have a good coach you gotta stick by that coach because otherwise you risk becoming the Orlando Magic. When you're on your seventh coach in six years or something like that. Aaron Gordon does even know what to do because he's played under so many systems with so much terminologies like that. That's that's easy, an easy pitfall to fall into Magic's view of a coach remains, Pat Riley, the, you know, the fiery old school. That's his view Luke Walton doesn't fit the mold of what he sees in a head coach, maybe they should hire. Jim Boylan away from the book. And then we'll talk more about the the the name. The Hugh must not be named Anthony Davis coming up. Okay. Guys, if you're anything like me, shaving is one of these things that you just have to do I like to shave every two or three days like to grow a little bit.

"But Houston, Houston falling off is made a lot of teams feel like, hey, maybe we could be upper-echelon. Maybe we can sneak into a conference final. And we'll be the team that loses their order early twelve teams who could reasonably talked themselves. Hey, why not us you mentioned the Lakers their big summer plans? Right. They have all these young guys. Who would if you is trade assets? I think Ingram has been a little bit more of an awkward fit with LeBron than they had thought. And he's not taking any threes. They thought they would turn him into a more of a spot up shooter around the run. They also have thirty nine million dollars in cap space this summer, and I think the absolute dream scenario. People talk about it's like they could trade for Anthony Davis or sign a free agent the dream scenario is that they do both and the order in which they do it is fill the cap space first with the free agent. And then trade the good stuff that we have left over free Anthony Davis because if you trade good stuff for Anthony Davis without a free agent, then it becomes harder. Mathematically because he makes so much money to get that next guy. And you have like a bare cupboard that's the dream, right? But what a leak free agent are. They getting sick which one. Well, that's the question because. This issue and Kevin Durant. Talked about recently of who what kind of young player will kind of in their prime superstar would want to play with run that's challenges of playing with the brownie cited, Chris Bosh and Kevin love taking taking steps back in there. All right. Listen, he said out loud. What everybody has been saying privately. Now, he talked about the fit on the court and how other players will fit around LeBron. But the the question and for some the bigger question is where do I fit off the court in LA with LeBron James because other star players who avoi- sauce in the organization wanna voice in how things go. They saw part of why Kyrie Irving left Cleveland was he had no voice there with management with coaching staff. Lebron and his group they run things they run the organization, they have the voice. No one's going to come in and take that away from them. And the other thing too is. Players. Learn I think Kevin love taught this to a lot of guys in kyri at times when you play with LeBron he's going to get all the credit if you win, and if you don't win you get the blame you weren't you didn't do enough to help LeBron James and the team end. So especially in a free agent class where you have most of the big stars have already won championships. Kevin durant? Klay Thompson, certainly, Kyrie Irving. We know he's not going to L A. And of course, Leonard they've all won championships. They're not ring chasing. And you see those guys looking around for comfort market having an organization built around them. And those are all the things working against the Lakers among those elite free agents it, let's talk names. I mean, Katie kind of telegraphed his intentions Colli. I think we all would agree that the Lakers are certainly not the favourite are probably a distant third at best. It's the clippers Jimmy Butler. I. I think there's but he seems to have found a home in Philadelphia. They're certainly confident they're gonna resign him Klay Thompson. I think the warriors are gonna maxim out Kemba Walker. I think the Hornets will max him out and they can offer another year. We didn't talk about DeMarcus cousins. But if you think you're going to get Anthony Davis or have a shot at it. I don't know that you want to reunite the bruise brothers that New Orleans had..

"I with me as our ase NBA insider Adrian Wootton are Elsie. How you doing, sir? Zach let's get to this shockingly as we start NBA trade season here in December. It's like a two months trade season, the Los Angeles, Lakers and LeBron jeans neither of which is a stranger to melodrama or at the center of the universe. Of course. It's LeBron it's Los Angeles and one of the more interesting subplots of of the season, so far is that the Lakers have actually turned into a pretty damn good team before we realized that. I mean, they could now talk themselves into after an Owen three start. They can now talk themselves into the idea that hey, maybe we're like the second best team in the west now, like even if we don't make any moves maybe where the second best team in the west, but they do feel with all their young players. They own all their first round picks going forward. They have LeBron James hood. No matter how often he says, I'm going to be paid. I'm gonna be patient is not going to be patient. They do feel like a team that's going to be active all the way to the February seven trade deadline to you do see that as well. Yeah. And here's you know. Here's the line. They have to walk. They can't give they're not going to give away picks and their top young players in some deal that makes them incrementally better this season because they've got to save all those assets for Anthony Davis, a big trade this summer either pre or post free agency. But you know, that's why they looked at players like Trevor REEs guys who are on one year deals who don't have money going forward. And like you said LeBron talks about I'm going to be patient. I'm in this for the long run. You know, we're going to grow these young players and immediately. What is it? Gabby Tyson Chandler, go. Get me Trevor Aretha get me veterans to help me win now..

"If you committed enough team fouls accord or they were in the penalty, they would give the shooter three shots to make too. So if he missed one of the first two, he will get another opportunity. I believe that if you if you fell man away from the ball that you could, if you re stated three to make to, they wouldn't do it anymore. What do you think don't mind? Don't mind it. I think that's the right kind of path and they legislated a lot of that other game by extending the amount of time that the, you know, the real harsh penalties for away from the plate fouls. Extent four. So they like that the hacker Shak went down a lot last year. I've always been a fan of like. You should be able to pick who shoots free throws. That's easiest way to me. You hack the Andre Jordan and JJ readiness to shoot the free throws. That's the easiest one. Okay. Fair enough. And then finally, let's make our predictions. My predictions on the upcoming season, I think will are not the same that everyone else's. Well, let's just do the obvious ones. First rookie of the who's going to be the rookie year. Oh God, I'm not a college basketball guy. So I, I will be learning these looking also Don-Shik. Okay. So you're going to be that good. I, he's going to get part of rookie of the years like opportunity, right? Like they got to put up the counting stats, and I think Donald will put up to counting stats with reasonable efficiency him who's going to be the coach of the year. Who won last year twin. Casey won't be doing Casey one last year and no one even considered Brad Stevens. All I was gonna say, I'll go Brad Stevens or Quincy Niner about that. You know? And I think Snyder was the other guy, the guy that just the way they do this now, I think Mike Malone could wind up being the coach of the year because I think the nuggets and you actually said this to me the other day we were in the hallway here. The nuggets could be the team that jump from out of the playoffs to like fifty, two wins and guy. They always give coach true. It's the bump. It's it's the or it's like the new guy, bump. If the bucks have a monster year, what changed on Mike buttonholes took over so that that's another name? Yeah, something like that. And then finally, who's going to be the MVP I'm going to pick on us. I think by the odds, he's like the fifth choice, but I, you know, like you go down the line. Okay. LeBron his team going to every. Wonder saying LeBron yeah, that's the fashionable pickers to say lobotomy is he gonna win it. If the Lakers finished seventh, in the west Mel rusted rested with the seven seed or the sixty six or seven. I can't remember what they were. So it's possible, but I'm going to put down us. I'm going to pick 'em beat. I think that I do. I'm telling you right now. This is I'm staking my reputation as a basketball expert of which I have none on the following prediction. The Sixers are going to be the team that that everyone is short that are gonna wind up with the best record or the Houston conference. And Embiid is going to be the reason why, because we talk about all these great players in the sport, and I feel like I'm be gets left out of that conversation because we are so accustomed to him being heard all the time and worrying about him. But when we talk about Anthony LeBron was put him in a whole other category. When you talk about the list of the next great players in the NBA, I believe that Joel embiid's named should be mentioned with any of them and for whatever reason it is not fair. So you're picking MVP. I think he's, I think they're going to win. They're going to finish the one seat to the Eastern Conference. I love it and beat is gonna wind up being the MVP diametrically opposed on Philly. And that's not a slight to Embiid and Simmons what they're going to be in the future. I just I said, all my Philly's stuff earlier. I like that. I liked that prediction. Okay. Well, I could do this forever. This already been the longest of these podcasts because you know you just such an interesting person and you have such a great what I like about your perspective as you combine..

"Next five or six years to he's the he's, you could make an argument for Janas, but to me, Davis is the one that's get a maybe gettable may be gettable in two or three years whenever the timetable is that that's the home run. I'm sure there are many people who are listening to this conversation now who are regular subscribers and listeners to the low post. Podcast, which is one of the most popular podcast that we have Eddie SPN and are well versed in your opinion on this particular subject among many others. But I'm sure there are some who have not. So it is worth covering this ground either way with you. Where are you on the LeBron historically, all time, greatest conversation. I think it's, I think you'll be the greatest player of all time when he's when he retires, and and if he's not already, I would probably. I mean, again, all the caveats aside about comparing eras and rule changes and this and that. I think he's neck and neck with Jordan now if not already passed them. And then in four years, when he's, you know, he never gets hurt. So four years when he's put up four more monster seasons. I just think statistically there will be no more comparison statistically, except for the wants to sick that some people will just never. Some people will always be there Trump card, which is six. Right. And what is the rebuttal to that? I mean, you just told me that when you were a teenager you watch the game and said, there's just no way Michael will lose through and that's for some absolutely at frustrated. The hell out of me, I was like, he's never gonna lose. So how do we put that into the equation? Because we've seen LeBron lose a lot we have. And I think the degree to which people. There was a lot of revisionist history about LeBron after the twenty eleven finals and LeBron I don't know if you saw the shop who's a new show on HBO the other night. He he really talked about it at length. What happened him in the two thousand eleven finals. Never happened to Michael. Like he just had a complete LeBron had a complete meltdown. He admits it on on the show kind of in more depth than ever has before that counts. Like I think Miami had a better team than Dallas in that finals and should have won the bronze just had a breakdown on national TV in front of the world. And that led to like a lot of what he's never done anything before in in the clutch to score twenty five points against the pistons when he was like an NBA baby to make the finals, he put up and they lost the series. But you look at the two thousand nine team in Cleveland when it was like LeBron MO Williams and like name. Another guy on that team that guy ever just thirty nine, nine and nine in the conference. This ridiculous. What he had done and the two thousand eleven finals kind of race that and now people will look at his finals record is what it is and. And we just spent the first twenty minutes with this podcast talking about how the team that beat him three times a complete historical outlier, and you look at the supporting cast, you look at the the series where Kyran Kevin love were hurt the first time that plays like, I'm not sure what the argument is that they should have won any of those series and they got one and so I like to to make eight straight finals is incredible feat..

"That was the way a lot of people myself included reacted. I remember sitting worst. We're having this conversation in the studio of my TV show get up. I remember being in here that morning and saying, this is unfair. This this is now the ruination if you will of the NBA that it's unfair. Would you describe there being no risk? Use the words no risk talking about cousins? Is there no concern in your mind that they, it takes them enough time to figure it out that there's some obligation to get at working for him. He took so little money that they sort of feel some. I don't know emotional obligation to. To work with him to get it there and that it ultimately winds up being something that hurts them. See, I think there's actually like a kind of cool basketball curiosity among their players like, okay, this is an ingredient like we never had this before. Never had to do. You can throw the ball to in the post and you can just roll over everybody in there. He's a good passer, like he fit like in some ways. He's in terms of like they don't need another guy who needs a ball up. They don't want a guy who doesn't get back on defense. They don't want a guy who when he's not engage is not a good defensive player. Barca's can be a very good defensive player. But in other ways, like you him the ball in the high post. He's a great passer on the low post is a great passer, like fits a lot of what they do, and I think they're curious, like, let's play around with this. Let's tinker with this kind of a cool thing, but I and obviously he has had some issues in the locker room and other places. He's been, but they're just they're so good that if it doesn't work for any number of reasons, they can just mothball it and just say, you know what? This is one year arrangement anyway, there's no feasible way we can bring him back. So you know we have, no, it's not like there's a long play here that they have to keep in mind. This doesn't work. It doesn't work barring significant injury, which is the x. factor in every sport and always will be. Do you see any real chance that the warriors don't win the championship this year? It depends you defined by real. I think if Toronto and Boston hit everything about their teams Kawais fully engaged, everyone's healthy. Gordon, Hayward by January is like old Gordon, Hayward. The bench guys are all like, that's cool. We're coming off the bench like Terry Rozier Marcus smart. We're cool with playing twenty minutes a game. We're going to go all out. I would give both of those. Seems like a ten to twenty percents. Maybe twenty is high, but that's like that's a chance. Houston has some things to sort out. I don't think is currently comprised. They can give the warriors kinda run. They gave him last share, but maybe Boston Toronto are built the right way with lots of talent. They would just be huge, huge underdogs, Jalen rose. And I been having this fight from the moment that we launched our show in early April and that is that I say that the warriors are ruining basketball, and I wanna make sure that you know. 'cause you and I don't know each other that well, no one loves the sport more than I do. I my father. I can still. Hear him in my ear in my head as these games are being played, and I'm gonna tell you a whole bunch of things. He would have thought about basketball now that we will debate later in this conversation, but, but I wanna make the last thing on earth. I am an NBA hater. I love the sport and it bothers me that I feel like I know how this is going to end before it starts by..
