Like if you're calling on accountants less you say what has shifted in their world over the last and i'm not talking kovic shifts here over the last five to ten years. What has happened has the number of businesses decline so their prospects of gun down Have the number of of virtual. Cfo's or what do you call them. A part time cfo's where We have calls. Per word is the partial partial. Is it So what are all the shifts that have happened in the market. That are causing these problems. Do that before you get into the problems because it could be that they either don't feel the shift or they say you know what i never thought about that. But yeah maybe that's why we're not able to generate more client. So what has shifted in the market for them not for you and your market but in their market that has caused that would cause them to say we've got to change things love that so market shift marks what has changed in the market. Okay this is a literally just thought of this and wrote this down and it came from a client meeting actually had this morning at breakfast with one of my clients were doing some like retooling of their wholesales function really people everything processes all of it and accidentally we came up with an. I just wrote this down the two words story. What is your two words story and you talk about. A hard thing to do is to come down to where we landed with this company. They do some like marketing stuff on online. We amplify brands. We amplify brands. You sell anything so toothpaste online. You sell ice cream. You sell shoes. We amplify brands. Most people hearing those two words. If you're about you can understand that. There's more you wonder how why that sort of thing There's there's a there is story behind that like you say there's market shift so it's crowded right. There's more noise all this stuff. You know the shift of online buying. There's a big story behind it. Were they begin. Yes that's the beginning part. Yeah people go. Wow okay interesting. Tell i want to learn more about that. Think about is it possible literally just thought of this. I've done this myself yet for us is what what is your words story interesting. So probably a verb urban by amplify. Yeah it's really tough isn't that's it is You know but. I bet i bet we could come up with this. Listener could come up with some things and again. This is not your whole presentation. this is the beginning of it and then you can fill in that with the story. She'll definitely not the whole yummy. Good point definitely not. This is like yet this. Is that what this forces you to do. Though is get down to that. Eighty that really essence of what you do and then build the story around that. I think people get cluttered. They build it outside in so they have all the stuff in it. Well we've got we take all of our. That's one in every five hundred of us joining us now to give us the latest is. Npr health correspondent rob stein. Robert situation sounds and seems pretty grim. Hundred people are still dying every day from covert nineteen. That's still not nearly as bad as things got during the darkest days of last winter. It says all companies with one hundred or more employees must require workers either be vaccinated or get weekly kovic testing businesses. That don't could face thousands of dollars in fines. Well arizona's attorney general calls that unconstitutional and filed the lawsuit. What Brazil's New Social Media Rules Mean for the Internet

"President. Jaya bolsonaro signed a decree on monday that temporarily bands social media platforms from removing many types of content including misinformation about cova nineteen and the country's upcoming presidential election brazil's new rules appear to be the first in the world to make certain types of content take downs illegal under national law even as other national governments around the world implement rules that force social media companies to take down more types of content proactively. What do the rule say the decree targets. What bolsonaro presidential press office called arbitrary removal of content including accounts profiles and posts under the new rules. Tech companies must only remove posts if they fall under a narrow set of definitions including terrorism threats of violence sexual crimes and cyber attacks and less. They obtain a court order. The measures would prevent social media companies from easily removing content including medical and political misinformation. Bolsonaro has repeatedly posted misinformation about covert nineteen and has claimed. That voter fraud would be the only explanation if he loses the upcoming october. Twenty twenty two presidential election. Something pollsters say is likely facebook. Twitter and youtube have all previously removed kovic misinformation shared by bolsonaro. The rules are bad news for brazil. Havi air palero. The argentina based policy director for the digital rights group access now told time adding that the decree ties the hands of internet platforms to deal with hate speech disinformation campaigns and coordinated harassment. We need democratic rules to make content moderation and platforms more transparent fair and accountable palero said but these attempts from illiberal politicians are far from that and aim only at giving a free pass to anti democratic speech.

"Someone second premise is that bringing a person into existence is not bad for that person even if their existence is flawed because being caused to exist is not a reduction in the quality of one's existence. There is no higher baseline from which you are reduced by being caused to exist in the first place. Does that make sense. Oh it's not like you were doing great before you existed. And then once you existed that that was like a downgrading of how you're doing and then the third premise would be that some acts of bringing people into existence are wrong anyway. Imagine for example. Creating an underworld space colony where the people are going to be haunted by space morlocks that hound them every waking. Second like you would think it would be wrong to create that place right Yes yes. I'm trying to envision all the ways that we can reach the space morlocks and changed now bring space morlocks and human colonists together but But it does sound pretty daunting. Yeah and so. This is a another problem along these lines to to a lot of philosophers. All of these premises seem correct. But they can't all be right at the same time they're in conflict with each other so kovic weighs in on this. He says in the case of our dystopia in space colonization thought experiment. However the horrible future is not actually bad for anyone. If it weren't for our dystopia and space colonization activities all those billions of people beyond earth who've miserable lives barely worth living would not exist at all from the point of view of those future people. Their miserable lives are still preferable to the alternative which is not having come into existence at all. The fact that they were brought into their miserable existence was therefore not morally bad for them. And and this basically is the second premise. I mentioned a minute ago that it's not bringing someone into existence can't be bad for them because it does not constitute a downgrading or reduction in their quality of life they didn't have a baseline. Start from yeah so kovic. He ends up..

Ideas are open their minds because they saw they you peek in on zoom class in a lot of parents are horrified by by the way normal schools. Run again. It's no slight on the teachers. They're trapped in the system. Almost much of the kids are a lot of them and so yeah that opened up. Parents is people like me and you are having kids now and we grew up with the internet. Or you know we. We've had the internet for twenty years so we're solving our problems thinking ourselves. Try something different. You know where. We didn't grow up with the factory environment in a factory job where we've been trained to think the same way we'd been trained it you're supposed to think differently and that's where the answer is. Yeah that's right that's right. So there's the third part of this helps things like census get bootstrapped. Which is there's a huge worldwide community of entrepreneurs right and that those are like our our customers right as an entrepreneur on his definition of like. You're thinking about things a little bit differently and you want something different for your kids. And so it's those three like kovic opening people's eyes up people being used to solving their problems on the internet and then the critical mass of you know where you can. You can start with a small community of people who see things the same way as you do. All right people can go and sign up right now. it's synthesis dot is is the website of my right. Yep yeah okay. And it's one hundred and eighty dollars a month for kids. what age and then is there long commitment. Yeah it's so there's open enrollment for eight to fourteen and you could. You should apply if you have a six and seven year old because there's a big waiting list and we're going to be opening up that That that that those programs very soon And it was a is. Is there a commitment. There's commitment it's a monthly subscription I'd recommend you know planning on doing it for like eight weeks But you know i. It's it's there's no you don't have to commit you. Can you can cancel anytime I think you get three weeks to cancel for a full refund. So yeah all right. Thanks so much for being on here. I'm excited about a be honest. I'm excited about synthesis. I'm excited even more about the fact that there's a new approach for for kids. I couldn't stand that. I was sending my kids into an environment that i hated. Just because i don't know what else is out there. And there wasn't much out there now at least their options and and and it feels good. It.

"When i got back into this idea of entrepreneurship and thought i really want to be an entrepreneur but i had a very strong limiting belief that i am not very creative. I don't have the ideas or the resources. I'm never going to be the number one or ceo of a company. I need to find someone who has a great idea and latch on and be like a a number two or a coo or something. That's my best shot at being an entrepreneur and i held onto that limiting belief for a long time and i was reflecting on a realizing at this year that i have not only been struggling through figuring out how to start and run my own business for the last few years. But i've done it and i'm running a business that you know by many accounts is is successful in doing what i love making six figures and i make my own schedule and it's not perfect. I have plenty of challenges. I invest a lot back into my business. But i am creating new ideas and new income streams and all that sort of stuff on a regular basis. Now i'm not sort of something where two three years ago. I would have been listening to one of these podcasts. Like listening to this podcast and being like well. That's great for him. Yeah he's not me. Yeah he's not. I could never do that right. That's for other people. I love to be like that. I don't know how i could but it's it's just not possible but i'm here doing it and you're doing it and it's because we've kept doing the work to break through those limiting beliefs and eventually end up in a place where we're actually doing the thing that we thought we might not be able to do like i m the guy like you said you. You have a keynote where on stages of every now and then right. We're still in the middle kovic says stages to be on at least not physical stages but you know. I published a book..

Because we've both clearly made very conscious efforts to make sure that our kids wouldn't be a product of a single parent household right but in that there are some things that they miss right like we had the opportunity with mom so Of course during covid same thing. My kids get to see dad in full blown. Work worked at work which can be interesting sometimes But just the other day he pushing me on on interest rates and asking me about mortgages. Wait a minute now. The bank is paid back. How much over a period of time so it was. It was interesting. Yeah it was fun to have them see the other side of it and be a far more intimate part of my work life than the whole family than they ever were beautiful. Dorms rhona silver linings. Of what what we've got pull out of this dancing because it's been it's been tough so you build this amazing business you you did something and again talking about vision where banks have you know almost systematically taken any personal service out of the equation right You went ahead and made sure that somebody was not a number right. People want to connect and when you can connect with a professional in that way and they are taking the time that you're disruptor right. That's what you're doing better than anyone in the business and you are better than anyone in the business and and that's so important. People want to connect people are tired of of not getting a person on the other end of the phone anymore. They're tired of being a number. So you've got a great business. You're rocking rolling. Kovic hits what do you see. As as i don't know we emerging this year is it next year is a two years away which your forecast for folks out there in the financing world interest interest rates. It's like the thought of coming together outdoors and some Kovic safe way. resistance to partly because of the feeling the feeling of the loss and a sense of it was a good. Bye to the in person groups and. The truth is that loss already there and the grief is already there. It's just what are we doing taxi feel it and this might be a time to reflect on the things that you've lost. Every single person has lost so much in to feel it together. Let yourself feel it. That's right. Mornin let yourself feel that. Reach out and talk to somebody you know I was started. I was talking to my step mom the other day and. She's never a complainer ever ever ever and she was just going on it was perky as anything and then she just stopped and go I've lost my family and I was like the family gets together and we can't get together and it's so hard. I was so grateful that she share that with me and we were able to really connect in that and it's really motivated me to reach out to her in a different level and to help bring connection. Where we can, we can all get together. That's our beliefs at least, but we can do it in other ways. So one of the things somebody I wanted to do was shut out to one of our patrons who has made a request that I'm GonNa try to honor, and that is.

So backward I never would have thought go slow down do less so that I can do it longer insane outlets kind of like a dumb, but it's so important. I, think what we're calling into school year when we're. In, Kovic continuing for. For months and months to go who knows. To to adjust that it's it's energy management and being setting realistic expectations and focusing on what matters Kinda tying everything together. Yeah. So just to run through those one more time. We talked about tip one being to what matters now deciding. What are your priorities going to be being ruthless about what makes that list and also with an eye to the future looking back, what are going to be the things that you really did care about like knowing yourself five years from now, when you look back, what are you actually going to have cared about? Tip to honor the choice that you're making the choice that you wish you could make. This is going to be a really big line because comparison holy cow, we really get into that. So easily tip three is to future pace to think about us way on the other side of this and did that thing that we were threatened fretting about? Did it come out in the wash and is it likely that it? It really didn't matter in the first place because your limited energy needs to only be focused on the things that are going to matter. To four self compassion. down. Regulate your immune system, allow yourself to feel safe. Allow yourself to feel supported. You need it. If you are wearing all of those hats you have to be supported and it might be you that has to give yourself that pep talk and be compassionate to hold yourself up. And then last. An iron man, go at sixty percent C. plus that's what we're going far. Keep yourself going. Don't burn yourself out. It's really hard to overcome something like that. When you're mid race if you've run yourself out, so reserve some energy. Don't burn yourself out right in the beginning. One awesome those were the five tips that we had for for. You is I would love to hear from you. Particularly, as your school year starts to..

In the way that we talk about these things, and then also in the way that we like. Sort of add them to our lives so. Much work to unravel. Yeah, and shopping is such a big one. Yeah, it really is and I think you know on that subject as well like we at brightly starting to think through you know why you know. What are the objects and the the issues that we're leaving out of our? Reporting when we think about ability and so yeah I mean we're. We're actively looking into things like intersectional environmentalism, and why people of Color have been laughed out of things like going to national parks and being involved in those types of initiatives like there's so many really interesting things to unpack about like the intersection between environmentalism race on somebody. We're actively researching and trying to do better from our perspective as well, but yeah, I mean I think. And that's disappointing but that also speaks volumes to really how we do look at our jails and prisons in some ways and and some of the things that we allow And and some of the management of it at least in terms of how we done things in the past in regards to building mass incarceration situations. And you know. I readily concede that point. And I don't want my take on this to get twisted whatsoever. I don't want anyone to suffer from Kovic. I just worry about the bigger picture here and of course that would be something we could get into all on down the line but I am concerned about public safety as I am about inmates safety. Does that make sense? Yes it does. And and it's it's exactly where I am on this matter as well because you're right you have to be able to manage both and.
